- 0:00[SPEAKER_05]: Happy Monday and welcome in live to the Big Play Cleveland show Jack O'Rourke alongside Ryan Tyler and we got our guy the top dog and for Dixon Hanford that bark slow the louder we got some guardians play off.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_05]: You got the brout Ryan
- 0:15[SPEAKER_05]: Three and one three and one three and one the Cleveland Brown fanford.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_05]: Well first of all, let's get the guardians out of the way because Can we get the hand for Dixon State of the Union address on the Cleveland Gardening?
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: I am just so upset with them right now even though it's the best out of five three out of five Games for the series.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: I am just so so upset with those guys.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean to get to go nine in and it's an only get three hits and two of those
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: hits was from uh... pitch and chiners and chiners came in and uh... it was just a press and i mean it wasn't just that they wasn't hit and it was a way they were swinging the bat i mean hell i could i could have done better than what they did out there's for a hit about and guys i don't know what we have to do but we got to get uh... remirits going i mean we have to get him going i mean i don't obviously we know he was heard he missed a few games and uh...
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: But we got it.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's time.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's October baseball.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's we need him.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: We need him.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then a Dell strikes out four times four times.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we got to get hot again.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: We have to get man.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_05]: Let me ask you from the Jose lines a little bit.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_05]: Some of your.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_05]: you were an athlete you played in a hell of a lot of really big football games in your career.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_05]: What is it like when you're trying to balance like in Jose's case right now it's like you had that Hamade injury on his thumb or I think it's in your hand at least and it messed him up.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_05]: He's clearly not 100% it's his team, his city.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_05]: He's trying to fight through.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, and for did you ever have a scenario like that in your playing days when you weren't at 100% come play off time and you're like, I'm going to do whatever I can to get out there.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but there comes the time too, you know, because I remember one time I tore my quad.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, when you tear the quad, it actually is bleeding on the inside.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, you try to put ice on it and sometimes you tear it bad enough, they want to do surgery on it, but a mind wasn't that bad.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: But you know yourself whether or not you can help the team or hurt the team and I'm not saying that Jose is hurting the team I'm just saying he's the only one that understands that I know But one thing we can we can tell by him He's not the second he's not the whole Jose that we're used to because this guy, man, I mean
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: He would tear the cover off of baseball, and we just got to get him going.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully he'll start today.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying to myself, I'm saying maybe I think we had off like six to seven days before the game.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, yes, six, seven, you could.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: And he kids out there watching it on those six, seven, there are six, seven games up.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm saying to myself, I'm saying, maybe that hurt us a little bit with the time that we had all, but we have just got to get going.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: And did you see the shot, the whole run?
- 2:59[SPEAKER_05]: That, that thing ain't landed yet.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we all knew, as soon as he hit it.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, I was up.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: And it was gone, and then, and then, and here's another thing I'm going to say about that game.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know we had we're going to turn I think the seven they're eating though they were leading us to nothing and then that hit
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: that they got where the left hand or everybody you know how everybody slide the defense over and then that thing went right down the third base line I'm like good gracious and the guy scored from first so and then they got the extra running it was three nothing but that was enough to beat us but I feel pretty good today.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're going to come back but I think we got a five o'clock five o'clock somewhere so let me ask you this question now.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: I usually
- 3:49[SPEAKER_05]: We're gonna move it up a little bit because the guards are playing early today.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_05]: We got some brownies talk about Hanford.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_05]: What is more likely the Cleveland Guardians win the world series?
- 3:57[SPEAKER_05]: We can't change the question now.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_05]: When the world series or the Browns make the playoffs?
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna go with the Browns make the playoffs.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: How about Hanford?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Browns are gonna make the playoffs.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: But you know what will be great guys?
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's a guardie both in the Browns with the play.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_05]: And for you, I hear cake and you want to eat it.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I absolutely love it.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm selfish.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about it.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_05]: First time we've had you in here since Thursday, hand for the Browns crazy 27 to 24 win.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_05]: They're up huge at half time.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_05]: I felt like to kind of leaked oil out for a lot of the second half.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_05]: The Steelers fight their way all the way back.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_05]: Tie the game and then you go down and get the game winning field goal from the leg of Andre Schmidt after that drive to get in the field goal range.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_05]: Hanford, so it's three games in a row now, right?
- 4:43[SPEAKER_05]: And I feel like every Monday in the U and Ryan, we come in here and we have a conversation, we sit down and we're like, geez, like, okay, like, so after this one, is this team real?
- 4:52[SPEAKER_05]: Or how much more, how much better do you feel about this team being real?
- 4:54[SPEAKER_05]: So Hanford, we got to ask you now, three wins in a row, a massive win against a divisional opponent in this dealer's at home.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_05]: Is this Brown's team for real or do they just keep finding the way to pole games out?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I got to say this.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: That was a big game.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're exactly right.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: That was a huge, huge game because it doesn't get any bigger than us playing the Steelers and I think right now.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: I just, obviously, we played them twice a year.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: I just wish that we played every game the two times.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: We play them.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: I see that I wish both games were as an Cleveland because the last five times that we played them here in Cleveland We have won those ball games, but I thought we came out and we were physical we were And who I give all the credit to I give a lot of credit to Todd I give a monkey is a lot of credit because he's got those guys believing and you guys know what I used to say all the time
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: believe you can win, think you can win, because if you think you can win, you'll find a way to win, and he's got those guys believing that they can win ball games.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm talking about that's huge, that's major for a young football team, because when you look at, we get guys 2021, a lot of guys that age on this ball club, a combination a couple veterans players that we have, but we got a lot of young players, and he has them
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: you can accomplish anything that you want to accomplish and that's what these guys are doing because remember going back to the start of the season, you know, we had, even me, I mean, I'm going to say that I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Todd was crazy when he named Watson the quarterback.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: I said he is lost his mind.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see you should do or start.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to see if you should do a good play.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: But remember what I said, I'm a Browns fan's first.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to get behind this football team.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not out there every day like Todd yet.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, each and every week, the Sean is done nothing but get better.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's done nothing but,
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: do enough for us to win ball games.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: And as this thing is going along, you see the chemistry that he's starting to develop with those guys on office, with this offensive line, with his why receive or stalked him out.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_05]: But your boy Judy got some catches.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: Jerry Judy came alive.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: What do you get?
- 7:19[SPEAKER_05]: Three catches.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_05]: Three catches.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think they're on the fourth quarter.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_05]: I could be wrong about that.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he got, I think they were, but he got three catches and, and that's why I thought it was insane to listen to some people come and talk about maybe let's get rid of Jared Judy, let's trade Jared Judy Jared Judy is excited right now because I guarantee Jared Judy's got the, yeah.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: uh... the attitude right now where he'll he'll say hey you know he's watching these two uh... young kids talking about kc uh... talked about den zeal boston uh... he's watching these two guys and he sent them you know these guys uh... or plan well they're catching balls but i'm supposed to be the guy i'm the one that got the uh... uh... the new contract and uh...
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was so funny.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think the first ball he called.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Did you guys see him?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: He where he took the ball and he was shaking the ball and he was looking at the ball and he's kissed the ball and then he held the ball up to the fans.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was very, very exciting.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: That could tell me that he's into the sting and he's not walking around Mopin.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: He's not griping.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: He just want to contribute to this ball club and everything that's going on.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: But the most important thing with this club right now is
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: uh, Todd has those guys believing, and they're believing that they can win ball games and and uh, it's just uh, it's just a good thing to see.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Hanford, I think Todd Munkin put a lot of belief in the Sean Watson, and I think that's probably at least a little reason why I work kind of seeing the Sean Watson perform the way he has.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_03]: And it's another week, another game winning drive.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: I know this time not a touchdown, but he led down the field to get Andre Schmidt into range.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: Hanford is to Sean becoming or has he already threw these first four games now become someone where you're like I trust this guy with the ball in his hands at the end of the game and you mentioned you've been seeing these improvements from to Sean Watson is there anything specific about it that you're seeing is it his decisions or is it just his confidence or is it both you know what I think it's a combination of both I think right now when you look at him uh
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's I don't think he's playing, I think there's more to come as far as him with this play.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's playing well with this legs, he's beating them with this legs, and he's beating them with this arms.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think what Todd is doing, and you have to give Todd a lot of credit, Todd is
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: given him a lot of short passes in the beginning.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then every now and then you'll see him he'll go down and feel.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, the shun is hitting those short passes.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then he's making those deep throws that he make down the field.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: You could just see it in his walk.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: You could see it when he's talking right now.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: You can see it when he's coming in and out of the locker room.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: You can see the confidence that he's starting to get and the belief that he can play.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: Realize now is that and this takes a little time because like I talked about my injury when I had a quad injury I didn't want to try it.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: I was afraid to try it because I thought that maybe I was gonna pull it again or do some a tear it again.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about a guy that came off two surgeries two Achilles Surgery and man those things are difficult.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: I've never had one
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: don't want one, but my understanding is it's very, very difficult injury to come back from and to just try to run and you're so afraid that maybe you might pull it or re-injured that thing.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: But now he's not thinking that way.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: You could just see it in his face, you could see it in his head.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's playing with a lot of confidence right now.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: And guys,
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think every week that offensive lines get better and better and better.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: If you noticed during this last ball game, we had a lot of penalties.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think we had 14, but what we did do, we cut down on the pre-snap penalties.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't see many of those.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't see a lot of those happening during the course of this ball game.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, again, I think the best is yet to come for this ball club.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_05]: And for let's stay on to Sean Watson and that confidence that both you and Ryan talked about with some of the for sure coming from Todd Munkin.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_05]: Because when I look at the Sean Watson and Cleveland at least, like I'm talking before the two Achilles tears, it seemed like the legs weren't there anymore.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_05]: Like not that he wasn't physically capable of running, but like he wasn't utilizing them the way that he did with so much success in Houston.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_05]: Between that and like you do see like it,
- 11:44[SPEAKER_05]: It probably has with more fuel and far between than a lot of brown sands would hope for, but the ball has moved down and feel the different points in time, like the Jacksonville touched down to Denzel Boston late, the 60 plus yard throw to Denzel Boston, also on Thursday night.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_05]: As a guy who played the NFL hand for what do you attribute this comeback to with the shirt?
- 12:01[SPEAKER_05]: Like how do you go from before your Achilles gets torn twice?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_05]: Your legs don't really seem to be there and you're not throwing your like skipping balls on the dirt and then you come back and you look better.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, I think what's happening is, and you guys know this, when you look at the National Football League right now, players, when I played, we used to get a lot of work in preseason training camp.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: that's how we got ready for the season.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: You don't see that right now with everything happening with the collective bargain agreement.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: You can't do this.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: You can't hit them.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of things that you can't do.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I think with these first three ball games, it's still sort of like
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: And they're still getting ready for the national, for the regular season.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I think with each, that's why I say with each game that they played now, I think you can see the confidence, not only with him, you can see it with pretty much the entire ball club.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: But I think what's hurt the national football league and what's hurt.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: the quarterbacks and and and a lot of the other positions is they just don't get the work that normally they get doing training camp and in the preseason and and now you have to worry about once the season started that's when you have to continue that work and continue the improvement so uh but you could just you could just see him and he's he's walking out right now and and and and and the fans are correct me if I'm wrong
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't hear a lot of booing.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, did you guys, uh, mean, no, I was there.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_05]: I would say during the intro, rock and wasn't it?
- 13:38[SPEAKER_05]: I'd say the intro, I thought there was like 25 to 30% booze.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_05]: And then after that, I don't think I heard a bill.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't understand it.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't understand it.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: You got a football team that's two and one at the time.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Open it.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_05]: We could have been Steelers fans, too.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they got enough to boo about.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: They gave it.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: I need to boo their old guy.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they do.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_05]: Whatever thing that's happening.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_05]: You're firing Mike Tomman for Mike McCarkey.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Did you guys see where the comment Mike Toml?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, did you not Mike Toml?
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: But do you guys Mike McCarkey, did you just see the comment that McCarkey?
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the Rogers.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: That was hilarious.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I just thought it was, but it was so appropriate because I don't, I don't agree with players trying to up in their coach or other players or things like that.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was totally totally a necessary, for example, you didn't see a Rogers when he threw that interception, you didn't see him running around mad at himself because of that.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you don't do that to a coach.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: I just show them up.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: I just trying to show them up.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought that was totally ridiculous, but those damn stealers to hell with them.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm I stuck my chest out.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: I could I was so happy.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: I can.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_03]: Hanford, listen man, to Sean's playing great and you mentioned you're giving a lot of credit to Todd Munkin and rightfully so, we just talked about maybe a little bit of rocky stuff going on over there in Pittsburgh between, but they've known each other for a year.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, Todd Munkin is three and one hand for it in his first season, I felt like coach.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_03]: What is it about Todd Munkin that he just seems to understand this fan base?
- 15:14[SPEAKER_03]: And it's translating through this team.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_03]: They're playing physical, they're playing violent, and they're getting such contribution from young players that has to be a tip of the cap that had coach, right?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: yeah and and you hit it right on the head when you said plan violent because that's one of uh uh a word that they use all the time out in uh burilla i had trained in camp at the facility uh uh uh what is the cross country mortgage came out of the whatever but uh you got the full email there yeah i give it i give a lot of that to uh a lot of credit to Todd because
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: guys, let's just face it.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: The difference between him and Stephansky is that Todd's a no nonsense type of guy.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Todd is an older coach, he's a guy that's been around the block, but he also knows how to handle these young players.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I think these young players, I think they respect him.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: and they believe in him.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: And Todd is the type of guy.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you something.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you're not doing what you're supposed to do, he's gonna hold you accountable for it.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't care whether that's a player.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care whether that's a coach.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't play because he knows and understands that he's got one shot at this whole thing.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: Being a stand and being a head coach for a long time.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I thought, you know, when I heard some of the people talking about, he's gonna be a guy that's one and done.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like,
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: How the hell do you know that?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: You haven't seen the guy, he hasn't coached anything.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: I have a little bit of a history with him because obviously he was, the offense coordinated with the Baltimore Ravens and also at Southern Mississippi.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: He was the, he was a head coach there and I can tell you anybody to tell you that no Todd from down there, they'll tell you the type of guy is.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: But the most important thing right now is that these players, they respect him.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: They respect him, and I'll give you an example, not last week, I think, the week before, I think it was fourth down, and Todd was thinking about going for it on fourth down.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of his defensive players, one-up, two of them said, coach, we got your back.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: You go ahead.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to go for it, if you don't make it, we have your back.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: and that's the type of attitude that he's put into these players and you can just see it, man, they're all walking around, they're having fun and they're all about making plays, they're all about winning football game.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: How many people will honestly say that at this stage right now,
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: that they thought that we would I'll record would be where it is draft saying nobody I mean no, I mean not many people are not many people would have said that they they would have thought that our record would be where it is right now They could say what the hell they want to say and we have a game coming up guys We're we're coming up playing the jets We you all mess around we don't be far one I mean that's what I hand for next thing you know we're playing on balance and that
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: my voice is getting like Todd right now, you know, my friends.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm serious.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: We have a chance to be 4 in 1.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_00]: 4 in 1 now in a type of stay-up of the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_05]: hand for let's talk about the defense a little bit specifically mason Graham so mason Graham goes down the brown still find a way to have five sex you know which were from mason Graham and we're all from five different guys so the d-line definitely did their job on thursday night but moving forward assuming that mason Graham will likely be out for a couple of weeks here what do you expect out of this defense of line in the interim?
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, again, you guys know, and I hate to keep saying that over and over again, you know, and because I truly, truly believe this, that the game of football is controlled and played on the offensive and defensive line of scrimmage, and boy did our guys play well.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: One in particular, what about Mike Hall Jr?
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean you talking about a guy that we thought was out of the game we thought that he was gone because you remember he got injured and he went out he went in the tent and he was gone for a while not just a few plays a lot of plays and then all of a sudden he comes in back in and he gets that big big
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Collins, you got eight in, you know, just today, and it goes on and on and on with these guys, that those guys are playing ball, they are playing ball, you know, who's a name, though, I, Williams, the linebacker.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Sam Williams.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Sam Williams.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Sam Williams.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: Quincy Williams.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Quincy Williams.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Quincy Williams.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Quincy Williams.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: Quincy Williams.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: The linebacker, who, I think he recorded a sack, but, you know, I'm still waiting, and I know he's going to come through guys.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: I know everybody, verse.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's going to come through.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: I know and, you know, he's, and he's causing some things.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's clogging up some holes and putting some pressures and, and, and, and, but I'm still waiting on him to have his breakout game.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_00]: But this defense, I'm telling you, they're playing extremely extremely well.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Hanford, a big theme of the defense when we came into the season was, we were worried about depth at certain positions and defensive line was one of those.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_03]: And then Alex Wright went out for the season and we're like, oh, no, this is not good.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_03]: But you see guys step up, 8 in Huntington, getting his first sack.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_03]: That was fun to see.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_03]: How important is it to see the depth of this young team and to see guys being able to what's what's the old one.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's next the next man up.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's not mental.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_03]: They're really living it.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_03]: This defense is hand for you.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: But you took the words right out of my mouth the next man mentality.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: Next up guy because that's the way they that's the way they think and just to give you not just on that defensive line, I'm going to give you another guy.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: E-man.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you almost had a pick six.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I mean, I mean, you talking about a guy that came in and just made a couple plays.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look like he's been there and, you know, been playing in the National Football League for a long, long time, big guy, Ranger guy, not afraid to a stick it's nose in there, not afraid to hit you, came in and make plays just to just tell you with the depth on this team.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing that's most exciting.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: They're all young players.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: And boy, are they playing extreme in the well?
- 21:27[SPEAKER_05]: Hanford, when you talk about this defense too, I think any time you're a corner back like yourself, you got to appreciate a game-changing play, right?
- 21:34[SPEAKER_05]: Denzo Ward.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I figured it was, it started the second quarter.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_05]: Was it, was it, was it the first starting order over?
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: I know the pick you talk.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_05]: Regardless, the game basically flips on its head and starts turning the brown cliff.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to take that first half lead after the Denzel Ward Interception.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, for when you've got that out there, who you just extended, who's been a staple as organization for ten plus years, how much easier is it for your defense when it feels like one side of the field, it's just virtually unlocked the whole game.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Denzel, what can I say about him?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this kid is just unbelievable.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he's from Cleveland.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't, I don't think, if you know of a better corner, I think in the league, better than him, let me know.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: because I just watching play, I watch his technique.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's just outstanding and you exactly right as for.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I would love to see, though, because I wish that Metcalf, for instance, I wanted to see Dan Zell just follow him everywhere he goes.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if he went to the bathroom.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Dan Zell follow him in the bathroom, because one thing I know, if Dan Zell's following him,
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: He may catch a pass here and there, but Denzel is going to win the majority of those battles.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he is definitely going to win the majority of those battles.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: But this kid, the way he plays now, and you talking about that interception, I thought it was just a great, great play on his part because one thing Denzel knew on that play.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: He knew that he had a safety over top of him because if you watch, that's why he can learn to cut that route.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you watched the route, Denzel, undercut him, but you still saw the safety coming in that vicinity.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I just thought it was just smart play on his part.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a time in the ball game that we needed a big play.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: We needed a big play because they were driving, they had a little momentum going and
- 23:35[SPEAKER_03]: right out of it and for before we talk a little bit of the jets and kind of this expectation new expectation I should say after starting 3-1 let's get your players of the game and hand-ford when you texted me who they were no surprise who they were hand-ford.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_03]: Let us know who they were.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's out to cornerbacks, you know, Den's Ellen Campbell, I mean, to me, what those guys were able to do, you know, they were able to shut down pretty much their passing game until the end, because you know, you guys know what, I think
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: We have a record going.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're 49 games where we've held the opponent from throwing over 300 yards, 300 and more yards.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now don't get me wrong.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think Roger's game closed and they got 299 in the game, but still he didn't go over 300 yards.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: But getting back to those two cornerbacks.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: Guys, I have to say this.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: For the first time since Frank and I,
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think we have two legitimate cornerbacks.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think both of them can be named all pro.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they have the pro bowl anymore, but I think these two guys can be named all pro.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: And when you have two guys like that at the corner, that could play the way they played and shut down everything on the outside,
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: frees up everything else in those defensive linemen in linebackers know that they can just rared back and let it go and I thought those two guys made a big difference in the ball game.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_05]: Hanford, the New York football judge just lost a Tyson badge and spy double digits yesterday.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_05]: Are the Cleveland Browns that actually, yeah, I'd be suddenly the next time we talk Hanford, will the Cleveland Browns be four and one?
- 25:19[SPEAKER_05]: And is there anything I want to ask you what this all of the number two real quick to make it a double two-part question for you?
- 25:25[SPEAKER_05]: When you're three and one, you kind of don't expect it.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, you know, things kind of get built up in your head a little bit.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_05]: You see it seem like the juts who did not get off to a hot start.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_05]: How do you battle, as dumb as a sounds, how do you battle complacency if you're the Cleveland Browns and make sure you stay locked in from this one?
- 25:40[SPEAKER_05]: Well, and I look ahead to Baltimore.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's where Todd comes in.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's where Todd and his coaches come in because, um,
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was great that he told the guys and said I'll see you Tuesday because he's like get out of here.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: Don't think about football, but you know what?
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: I guarantee you this, the majority of those guys.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're back in that building before Tuesday because they want to get started on the chest because they know that they have something good.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: They know that they have something going right here and they're not going to take the chest for granted because let me tell you some, the jet, this is the National Football League.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: Every single team in the National Football League is a good football team and if you don't take them seriously, you can get beat
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: every week.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I guarantee you Todd is not going to let them take them take these jets for granted and he's going to make sure they're up and he's going to make sure they're ready to play.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_05]: Top Dog, thank you so much for joining us.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: Go, go, go, go!
- 26:42[SPEAKER_05]: We'll be back with Jensen Lewis here in a couple minutes.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_05]: Talk about the guards, game two, but first we got to tell you about our friends over at the third estimate.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_05]: Got a room in your house that's warmer in the summer and colder in the winter.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_05]: Currents that move even when
- 26:55[SPEAKER_05]: It's not haunted, it's just drafty.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_05]: The third estimate will do a free window inspection.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_05]: Show you exactly where outside air is getting in and give you a written price that's good for six months with absolutely no pressure.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_05]: Book your free window inspection at the thirdestimate.com.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_05]: Again, the thirdestimate.com or call 1, 2, 3, 4 windows.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_05]: Handford, we can remember that one.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_05]: 1, 2, 3, 4 windows.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_05]: The third estimate, small nuts to listen and big enough to deliver.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_05]: Welcome back live to the Big Play Cleveland Show Jack O'Rourke alongside Ryan Tyler and it's time to bring the heat with Jensen Lewis and I don't know Jensen if we've ever needed the heat or some bats or something more than right now, Jensen, how you doing this morning.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_04]: I'm good.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the heat is on down here in key west where I'm coming to you guys from and it might be even hotter and in much more balmy as scenario this afternoon we get game two underway but boy not not the way you wanted to start this LDS a lot of guys left on base some chances with runners and scoring position.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_04]: You know, that you didn't take advantage of in the postseason when that happens.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_04]: Usually that means bad things.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_04]: So Steven vote to some questionable decision making some some thoughts, you know, maybe in the middle of the late portions of that game where you couldn't go on a different direction, but can't worry about it now have to have to go out and earn a serious split here today at home.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen, I guess the three of us can worry about it now, since we have a little bit of time until game two starts up.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_05]: Before we get into the deeper layers of it, just base level, you get your first playoff game at Hall, and obviously sold out crowd electric atmosphere for as long as it could be on Saturday afternoon.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_05]: When you come out three hits, you have chances back to back getting to the bases loaded and don't get one across.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, it's always important to not go down to.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, in a best of five series, not telling you anything special here.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_05]: How crucial of a game is it today for the guards?
- 28:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and Jack, honestly, by the numbers, that's kind of why the panic meter is a bit high.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_04]: And if you look at just heading into best to five series, just want to have these notes from Elmina work research teams that go up 20 in any best to five series are 83 in 10 all-time.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_04]: That's 89.2%.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_04]: and there's 63 and 7 in the LDS since 1995.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_04]: That's basically a 90% conversion percentage.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_04]: So you go down two games to none.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_04]: That's what you're up against.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_04]: And then also in the history of the division series with that two, two, one format, which we are currently in.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_04]: When a team earns a split on the road in the first two games, which Chicago has basically already done, the team has gone on to win the series 30 of 49 times, which is 61%.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_04]: So not to say this is a must win, but it's about as damn close to a must win as it can be just knowing that history certainly not on the Guardian side with those statistics.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_05]: So Anthony Kaye who's getting the bump to start it off as the opener for the White Stocks stage.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_05]: And we got to see him a little bit in game one through an inning in a third one hit one walk got out of everything unscathed as every White Stocks pitcher did.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_05]: Now that I actually think about it and say that out loud.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_05]: But what do you expect today out of the White Stocks?
- 29:57[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, one thing with me, Johnson, is it's like,
- 30:00[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_05]: I hate like calling out a singular player couldn't do what this guy's doing in the first place but like, man, just like every time David fries in the line up, it just feels like I'm wasting it bat and then you flip it around and you put Nate low and he gets on base twice.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_05]: Like obviously that's why teams do these openers now and stuff to like kind of flush out the idols like survivor a little bit and make you juxtaposed the exact lineup you want in the game for the other team.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_05]: What do you make what the guard's need to do when it comes to pinch trading, using the ball patent, having a quickly, even if not saying you're going to need to on Gavin, but like getting Gavin out of there if you have to, how do you feel about the way this game needs to be managed by Steven Pope compared to game one?
- 30:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, almost a game seven, Jack, and to be fair with the the off date tomorrow, you have that luxury of basically the same way you attacked game one was hey, we haven't off day in between game one and game two, we can extend our leverage relievers if we need to get a quick hook on park or mesic, we can go do that and I think the other part of it too, Jack is Gavin has had so much time off.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_04]: since his last game appearance.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_04]: And that's always something I'm wary of as a pitcher, all the adrenaline flowing, all the pressure, you gotta go out and get a fast start as a starting pitcher.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_04]: If his command is a rye, that is the million dollar question here this afternoon, how long do you stick with Gavin, knowing you're already down a game, though you can't afford to really fall behind too much because not only Anthony K.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_04]: But remember, if we get Sean Burke here for for bulk innings, which that that looks like the the game plan here for will venable, I mean, you look at Burke one run in all three of his starts against Cleveland this year.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_04]: So you almost feel as though the first three innings at first time around the lineup, you've got to find a way to
- 31:37[SPEAKER_04]: Pratch out a runner to to have that lead and then you can kind of close the game down and shorten the game down from there.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_04]: So that those are my two keys really early is what is Gavin's command look like what's the tempo and cadence, you know, is he filling up the zone is he showing command for the fastball and then basically after that.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_04]: you have to take advantage with runners in scoring position early today.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_04]: If you allow the white socks to get that lead and the way that they did it with Murkami, hitting one into orbit, that is going to be a really, really tough field of climb for this group to get back to one and one.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_03]: Jensen, what do you think the message that voter and Carl Willis are giving to Gavin Williams before he takes the mount tonight?
- 32:15[SPEAKER_03]: Because we've seen in the past, yes, the Guardians have needed Gavin to dominate to win games.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: But in a game like this, you think pressing
- 32:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's a great question.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_04]: And Ryan, it's exactly what you're telling Gavin is I don't need you to worry about the second inning.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: I need you to worry about the first and just collect doubts for me at this point.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_04]: It's not a matter of we're going to need seven out of you.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_04]: We need a clean scoreless first inning.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_04]: We hopefully can.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: get you a lead.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_04]: We need a zero after that, but I don't even want you thinking about the second inning until we take care of business there in the top of the first.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_04]: So I know it sounds cliche, but that's really what it boils down to, the simplicity and the execution of what you're going to find with what Gavin Williams has rolling out there.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_04]: We'll know we'll know pretty fast, guys.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_04]: If he's got it and if he's cruising early, then I think you end up probably taking it in by inning.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe even hit or by hit or just depending on what that game
- 33:09[SPEAKER_05]: to the offense.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_05]: One guy we talked about at length, I believe it was two weeks ago.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_05]: Last time you had you, Jensen was Joe Adel and the fact that he was going to get his first real playoff experience.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously when you're playing out there in the barren wasteland known as Los Angeles Angels, it ain't going to come around more than once every ten years.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_05]: So he hasn't gotten that chance at this group.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_05]: going or not, not just going to totally crap on the guy, but yeah, I went over four, had two strikeouts looking, one of them was right down the middle.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_05]: It just kind of seemed like he was lost all day in his first playoff experience.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_05]: Do you anticipate Joe would tell turning it around today and throughout the rest of the series getting something going for the soft ones?
- 33:42[SPEAKER_04]: I think there's no replacing or no simulating what those emotions and what those feelings are like when you get into your first playoff game and you have that kind of added leverage and pressure and I'm sure there were things that Joe experienced that he's like, okay, now I know how to react almost a good thing Jack.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_04]: for this team to have the off day in between game one and two where you can kind of say, okay, now I get it.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_04]: Now I understand what I should be doing for a process.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_04]: Why is here's how, you know, guys are going to pitch me a little bit differently.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_04]: Perhaps the scouting report has been adjusted since Adele has been over and we'll kind of see how we'll vetable it in there.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_04]: They're a whole pitching staff on the Chicago side.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_04]: Try to attack him.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_04]: Bottom line is this, he ropes the double in his first debut.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_04]: All is kind of forgotten mentally, because you can kind of flush everything that happened in game one.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_04]: Just you want to have some hard contact.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_04]: You want to be able to drive the ball to the authority.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_04]: And again, if this team's going anywhere, Joe Dells can have to be a very big part of that.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_05]: and playoff at bats are obviously different than the regular season jensen one thing that I think was a tiny I mean not not shocking is an other skystinks but did I anticipate grant tailored to throw for scoreless innings and the game on Saturday that also wasn't the case either for a few jensen when you kind of get into the playoff and have these moments and game one doesn't go your way how do you just as a team trying to change your approach to the plate when it seemed like whoever the white socks throughout their just had your number
- 35:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and that happens, Jack, where you get guys that are in a groove, and it doesn't matter.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_04]: Great pitching is always going to be a leg ahead of great hitting.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, not that the guardians have great hitting at this time.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_04]: They have good enough hitting, but when you got a guy going out there that looked like an absolute buzzsaw.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you'd sick the Dodgers line up, you'd sick whatever you'd line up, you want in front of him, and he's probably having the same results.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_04]: I think the key is his efficiency Jack was off the charts, you know, not a lot of long innings.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_04]: He was constantly ahead in the count.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_04]: And now you put the pressure on the offensive like why don't I don't want to take some pitches to drive his pitch count,
- 35:50[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to really tough spot to be able to try and counteract that so, you know, I'm interested to see what what and if, you know, his workload potentially is today.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_04]: I would imagine you'd see him, but I can vision another lengthy outing the way that he had in game one.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_03]: Jensen, let's talk about the offense still Ozea Ramirez.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, I'm not going to pretend that if Ozea Ramirez, let's say goes the rest of the series without getting hit.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_03]: We don't want that to happen, but baseball is a bad idea.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_03]: Pair that with how the season has gone for Ozea dealing with the injuries, I'm not going to say something absurd like a bad season's going to hurt as like a sear anything like that, but just how disappointing would it be knowing that we don't have a full healthy Ozea Ramirez out there with how great and these young contributions that we've been getting?
- 36:36[SPEAKER_04]: Think about it this way, Ryan, if Jose doesn't get hurt, do we get the opportunity to develop a lot of the young?
- 36:42[SPEAKER_04]: Do they get enough runway, you know, here?
- 36:45[SPEAKER_04]: We may not see on Hell and Owl at all this year if we had a healthy Jose Ramirez.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_04]: Guys that had to take on a much larger responsibility of driving in runs, like a chase to a lot or like a trap, Spazana, you know, you had,
- 36:59[SPEAKER_04]: Stephen Clawn still searching at that point to try and get back to where he is now.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_04]: And that's part of overcoming adversity, guys, this was the time.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_04]: And we've talked in previous years.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_04]: The worst case scenario is having to deal with no Jose Ramirez for an extended amount of time.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that came true this year.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_04]: And the diamond and the rough here is that you had young guys who had really grown up fast.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_04]: You had position players that had to learn how to be versatile, had to learn how to shoulder the load and be big in moments, maybe that it's probably a year or two early for them to try and be able to produce in those spots.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_04]: So I take it with a great assault.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_04]: Of course, you want to help the Jose Ramirez, but maybe you don't get the added development or the increased development from some of the young hitters that eventually wore big reasons why you got to
- 37:53[SPEAKER_05]: uh... gents and host is a guy who we all came in the year we probably pounseldman for two sixty five couple of bombs not nice op s in there around eight hundred one guy who we didn't pencil in for two sixty five batting average at the end of the season was austin haggies and if you did give me the lottery numbers tonight there was a article that's that mice will put out in the athletic about austin haggies and it's just total rehaul after ten years in the big leagues if it's played approach out basically now he's just going hey
- 38:18[SPEAKER_05]: If you're throwing strikes, they're getting me.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_05]: It's God be in the strike zone.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not trying to not look at anything outside this strike zone with two strikes.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_05]: Worked out, I mean, had to walk in game one before getting pulled through Pat Bailey, who I didn't up having a hit.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_05]: How much does it mean to a ball club?
- 38:31[SPEAKER_05]: Especially when you get on a day like today where, hey, back's kind of against the wall.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_05]: You didn't put out the best performance in game one to have.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_05]: A clubhouse leader in a defensive leader, like Austin hadges.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_05]: But also, hey, now the guy's hitting the ball.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe he's the kind of guy who, with Anthony K's in their first time through the order,
- 38:46[SPEAKER_05]: Bloops won the opposite way.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_05]: That kind of gets the team going again.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_04]: Renaissance, man, right?
- 38:52[SPEAKER_04]: To think of, to think of where he's been for, for most of the tenure of his time in Cleveland, it has been defense for second and third.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_04]: And any offense whatsoever was a bonus.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_04]: I think this year is what, I mean, you can add up everything he's done.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_04]: This year offensively it feels like it's more than,
- 39:09[SPEAKER_04]: all his years combined before that in a Guardian's uniform.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_04]: Bottom line, you need a guy who's listen, the guy's a world series, right?
- 39:17[SPEAKER_04]: I know how to win.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_04]: He's been there.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_04]: He's gone the distance.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_04]: And you want to have those kind of personalities.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_04]: I can kind of draw back to 2007.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_04]: When we had such a veteran laden clubhouse in our postseason run, you know, we had David Illuchu, we had Jason Michaels.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_04]: you know, Jake Westbrook, guys that have been around, had been deep into a post these and before.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_04]: And then, you know, your stars have to be stars.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_04]: And so when, when, if he is not doing it offensively, he has been as big a part, if not the biggest part, as to why this staff continues to be as dominant year in and year out.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_04]: The amount of prep, I wish
- 39:56[SPEAKER_04]: I wish people, you know, you get ballpark tours and, you know, all things like that.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_04]: I wish people could tour a scouting meeting.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_04]: And, and then also kind of, you know, be a, a fly on the wall to see the prep work that, uh, an awesome head just a Patrick billet.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_04]: There's a, there's a distinct reason why the guardians have the best defensive catching room in, in, in all of baseball.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_04]: And it's why as a picture, you really see guys that that will shake or, or be upset with the sequence because the,
- 40:23[SPEAKER_04]: prep work is done.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, they are for the millennials out there in cyclopedia, Britannica.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_04]: You can't, you can't do anything that they don't know about.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_04]: And that's just a credit to them.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_04]: It is a huge relief as a picture to come in and know that they've got everything set for you.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_05]: Jens, I want to ask you a quick question about what you said as well on your stars needing to be your stars.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_05]: Because Parker Massick did his job.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_05]: If you go up three runs as a team in a playoff game, hey, you gave your team a chance to win.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_05]: On the offensive side of the coin, though, Jens and the guys who made up comprised one through six for the starting lineup, over 19 with two walks in game one.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_05]: Who with that group, Kwan, Jose, Delaud, Joe Adel, Angie and David Fry, do you most expect or would you, if there was a gun to your head, you're saying this guy might have a two hit day today?
- 41:06[SPEAKER_04]: De Lauder was the first guy that came to mind, and that's a lot to ask left on left, but again, you need that kind of star to have a performance to get you back on top.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_04]: If it's Jose, the usual suspect, that's even better, and because you want him trending in the right direction, you want a brutal decision for the opposing manager.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_04]: Do I pitch to De Lauder?
- 41:29[SPEAKER_04]: Do I pitch to Jose Ramirez?
- 41:31[SPEAKER_04]: Do I pitch to Joe Adele?
- 41:32[SPEAKER_04]: That's what you're kind of hoping for is that everyone is flush with happening game one, it's one game.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_04]: And as long as this clubhouse takes it that way, which has been their mantra, they've been really good at having a short memory, then that's the ultimate elixir is we go out the series starts today.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_04]: You can go one-o today and it looks completely different, headed back to Chicago.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_04]: You get everyone on the bird, you get everyone feeling like, okay, we've got some momentum.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_04]: So there's plenty of ways for them to flush, having them that's happened with that off day.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: Come out, have a nice early couple of innings here, get an early lead, have this crowd be into it.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_04]: And then you start to believe a little bit.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_04]: It's the beauty of a prize fight.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_04]: You took the first big hit, you got knocked down.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_04]: What kind of resolve?
- 42:14[SPEAKER_04]: The
- 42:14[SPEAKER_04]: as this group have.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_04]: If they are embodying what we've seen them for the entirety of this year, guys.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, they have faced so much and overcome it.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_04]: Then what's another O1 deficit to overcome here in a season series?
- 42:27[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Jensen.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to see you by the time this series wraps up.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see you next week.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_03]: But by the time this wraps up,
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: Or I should say this.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_03]: By the time you're on, this series will be wrapped up.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_03]: So let's just say scenario, the Guardians do lose today and they go down 02 headed to Chicago.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_03]: Do you believe that this team has the DNA and the confidence and the formula to kind of make some magic happen and build a comeback?
- 42:49[SPEAKER_04]: They certainly do because you're gonna have an opportunity to take the field.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_04]: The old poker at it's shipping a chair.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not down until everything's gone And I think that the hostile environment that they're about to walk into for at least game three And then we'll see about a game four and obviously they've got a lot to say about if that will transpire by what happens today I think you you have to
- 43:11[SPEAKER_04]: have to keep the game small.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_04]: You have to be able to stay within the moment.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_04]: And I think this is a group that has been here and done that.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_04]: They have come back from so much.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_04]: They can really rally together.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_04]: I know that's a postseason phrase and hashtag from years ago.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_04]: But it does present itself.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_04]: It really does on a situation like today.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_04]: This is a whole different outlook.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_04]: You come level and you equalize a series today.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_04]: Now the pressure goes back on Chicago, but you're going to be in the Lions then at rate field here on Wednesday for sure.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen for Game 3 looking forward a little bit.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_05]: Who do you have on the bump as you walk into that hostile territory on the south side that you talked about or is it at all dependent on if you win?
- 43:54[SPEAKER_05]: Gillick is there is a different if you're down two overs is one one.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_04]: I think so, and Jack to be fair, if I were Steven vote, I would not be, and they're probably not.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_04]: Not thinking ahead.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_04]: Let's get today and then let's kind of re-evaluate me.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_04]: Who know, you could go 14 innings today, guys, because we don't have the automatic runner for extra innings in postseason ball.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_04]: There should be another low scoring game today.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_04]: There should be about situation execution.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_04]: What can you do with brothers and scoring position?
- 44:22[SPEAKER_04]: You know, how much do our prime relievers get extended and how early?
- 44:27[SPEAKER_04]: If you can get length from Gavin Williams, if you can get five plus, man, that would be massive because that probably means that it's tight and you have the lead and Gavin feels good and he's shown it to you with his command.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_04]: But that's why it's Steven Vogue.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_04]: It's paid a big dollars.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_04]: That's going to be his
- 44:43[SPEAKER_04]: is tough as decision, when do I go get Gavin and what's that game situation look like?
- 44:49[SPEAKER_03]: Jensen last one for you every time you come on we talk about something else besides the guardians at least once and it's the Cleveland Browns Jensen.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think one of the playoffs.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_04]: Let's stop.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_04]: Let's be honest.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_04]: I think if you were to tell me at the beginning of the year After you came back from Jacksonville and looked at how awful that looked you said hey, they're gonna win three in a row and the way that they did it
- 45:13[SPEAKER_04]: I would have said you're nuts, but this is pretty fun to watch, right?
- 45:16[SPEAKER_04]: And it's all in front of them now, especially with the, having the jet sun deck, we don't know about Lamar Jackson.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see what that MRI says about the, the foot injury.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_04]: If it's going to be out for some time, it's all there in front of a man.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_04]: So what time for this dog pound and this team to really be rolling in the right direction?
- 45:33[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much for joining us.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_05]: Hopefully the Gardo's can tie it up here and have a fun series for us as they head up to the south side for Game 3.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_05]: Don't go anywhere on the Big Play Cleveland show.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_05]: Gary Barnage and Bridget Lynn joining us next to talk some Cleveland Browns football.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_05]: But first, Westsideers get ready.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_05]: Pizza 216 has a new location opening in Avon.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_05]: And for your next guard's game, head down to 401, you could have it now.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_05]: They've got plenty of TV's, a great bar seen in over 20 draft beers.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_05]: I know me and Bailey Brown from Big Player gonna be down there in a little bit.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_05]: Getting ready for guard's game 2 plus a menu that goes way beyond pizza, especially those garlic knots.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_05]: Bring your crew, grab some food, and share for the guards together.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_05]: Pizza 216.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_05]: Your downtown game-taste spot, game-taste spot, with a new location coming to Avon.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_05]: Check them out at pizza-216.com.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_05]: Welcome live to the Big Play Cleveland show Jack O'Rourke alongside Bridget Litton and Gary Barnage, Cleveland Brown's in-game host, Bridget Litton and Gary former Cleveland Brown's site on guys.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_05]: How are you doing this morning?
- 46:29[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing great.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_02]: What do you guys think about Gary's willy Lancashire?
- 46:31[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_05]: Can we get some comments there in the chat on an incredible, Gary.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_05]: So you said you were graphic t-shirts everywhere, not to get too far off the Brown's five seconds in.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_05]: Can I get your top three graphic t-shirts you on?
- 46:44[SPEAKER_01]: This might have jumped up in my top.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's got it.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's in mind for you.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite movies that I consider a favorite movie.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's a movie if it's on no matter what you're watching it.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: If this is on, I'm watching it.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I would say this might be jumping up there.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: I have a four-scump, which is a run for a shrun and it's a guy running a tree and then a guy running.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like a play on that one.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: I have so many good horror shirts, too.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I have one that says Mama's boy in his Jason Voorhees.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: His face is mask on it.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: That would probably be my number three, and in no particular order, actually.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_05]: And Bridget of Gary's graphic shirts, which is your favorite.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm not a huge fan of a lot of his graphic sure it's specifically the horror ones.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: I do not like horror movies, and he has so many of them, but he got two new ones that I really like.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: Cause I love Cedar Point.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: He has a Millennium Force one and a Raptor one.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you could have gotten me one.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: We could have been twins.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_05]: So Gary, you told us that we could get two origin stories while we had you on the show today.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_05]: One of them is how you went on amazing race.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_05]: And another is how you met your fiance, Bridget Lynn, which one can we get first?
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go with Maze Race.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_05]: Let's do it.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_04]: What, chronological order?
- 47:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_05]: going all the way back to the start.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: So amazing race.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: My buddy, he was finalist to be on big brother.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: So when he was, uh, me back up a little more, I'm gonna, I'm gonna pull a bridge and give you more detail in the story.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: We were actually me and Danial Williams, we were in South Africa, visit one of our buddies.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: And we were there somehow we got on the topic of like reality shows, amazing race, and a buddy said, in passing to us.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: Would y'all ever do that?
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: I said, yeah, I would do that, and then I asked Dan, he's like, yeah, I would do that.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: Literally, this was like in January.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's fast forward to like June or...
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: May somewhere around there my buddy's going to be a finalist on big brother so they're flying them out there to do all that to do the interviews and I said and just in ran a pass in the cake Let me know we'd have interest in doing amazing race, so when he went out there he told them Then he they reached out and said hey, send a video Okay, so we send a video we were at Disney together Me and D so we filmed just a random video versus ripping each other because that's our relationship
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then, so we send that video in, they contact this, okay, we're gonna fly you out in August.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: So January is when we talked about it.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: August, they flew us out to do final interviews to see if we would have a chance.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: And then they call us in October, which we're happy to be at Disney again, and let us know we're gonna be on it.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're filming in November.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: So like it had crazy quick.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: And then now DeAngelo is very hesitant now on a green to things going forward because just a simple conversation, oh yeah, I would do that.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: I locked him in and he knew we can't back out anymore because he gave me his word.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: So now he doesn't commit to anything maybe.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's not saying yes because if he says yes, he's locked in.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_02]: In DeAngelo said it almost ruined in their friendship a couple times.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: For him, not me.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_05]: Is it just like the going back and forth nature other when you're on something like that?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_05]: Like how do you compare even like being at teammate with a guy on a sports team versus doing something like that with them?
- 49:56[SPEAKER_05]: Like we all have like close friends in life.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_05]: You do like fun things with but like Like that's a different level.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_05]: You know.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so the hardest thing for him was he's never been away from he is four kids at this point He had oh wow.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: He had three of this point but
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: two of them were younger and one was a little older, but he has never been away from him longer than like a week or two.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well he's gone 30 days and you have no contact.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: So he that's a struggle for him because he's never been, and not talked to his wife, not talked to his kids, and being 30 days without being a talk to anybody in his family, that was taking a toll on him.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then a little inside where people may not like, but
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he, like some of the camera crew and stuff, they'd face time to kids in front of him.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, not all purpose, like they'd be talking to their employees, we can't.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: So like, if you're gonna do that, don't do that in front of like other people that can't do it, because now he is taking offense to that, which I can understand, like, you shouldn't be flaunting that you can do this in front of, in front of us when we can't, but they're working.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: So we understand, I understand it, but in his mind, like, I can't talk to my kids, don't do that.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: So is it that we felt disrespected in that moment?
- 51:08[SPEAKER_05]: Gary, or sorry, Bridget, do you think if you subbed in for D on that and went with Gary, how are you doing?
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: So we've like talked about it because he would do it again.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, but I know deandles not coming with people.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_02]: You do it.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I just have a feeling in my undermarriage before even started because we're both very competitive people.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I know him if like, I don't want to do, I don't know what they even make you do.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_02]: So I haven't watched this season when she's not very happy with me about.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_05]: So we've been out.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: We've watched multiple years and she's having a lot of shit.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I never watched it.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_05]: Is there never anything like a Saturday where you guys like aren't doing anything you're like, oh, like, let's watch the time I was on the amazing race.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I actually want her to watch without mail.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's what I'm going to watch you with you.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't want to watch it again.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: I've already seen it twice and I lived it.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: And you lived it.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's so straightforward.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: But I've got it from DeAngelo.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: They've gotten a massive fight because of like, DeAngelo's not doing it correctly.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_02]: And I can see it because Gary gets competitive.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: I just feel like we would butt heads.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_05]: Bridget, let's talk a little bit about what's going on with work for you right now and our Cleveland Browns and the last Jerry about his, is it the craziest thing ever?
- 52:07[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, so every year, as all of us Browns fans do, go in with the highest expectations.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is our year, I have a good feeling.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_02]: We've got an amazing rookie class, we have this like every year.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so excited and then.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_02]: just been a little disappointed.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: So this year I changed my attitude.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you know what?
- 52:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's a rebuilding year.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_02]: Next year we're going to come out strong.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: I just have to accept.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to be the most successful year and look at us now.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_02]: So it's almost like I got a, not going with the high expectations and then they could shock me.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_05]: It's crazy getting no one saw coming like I said seven in time before the season which people were like you're not for seven wins.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_05]: That was like wow like I don't know.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_05]: You already come out.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_05]: You get three Richard talked about that atmosphere Thursday night.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_05]: I went out to that game.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_05]: That was one of the craziest sports events I've ever been to.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: It was unbelievable.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I think, actually, the last time I came on the show, we were talking about my favorite game.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_02]: It was also a Thursday night game.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was when they clinched the playoffs against the jets.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_02]: That atmosphere was next level.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_02]: Amazing.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_02]: This past Thursday night, I feel like it even exceeded that.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: It was.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_02]: Unbelievable because everyone stayed until the last seconds because the game came down to the final seconds.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_02]: I have just never seen that stadium.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_02]: So electric, so rocking.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_02]: The light shows the entertainment was our rock and roll of fame game.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: It was just unbelievable.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_02]: And then to leave as winners.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_05]: and Gary after seeing.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no, me.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_05]: Gary after seeing like what Browns fans had been through over the years, like how cool is it still for you to come back and see this team coming out?
- 53:34[SPEAKER_05]: Like this obviously could grow up in Kentucky, which isn't like crazy crazy far from here.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure you weren't around staying growing up, but like being in the area is still kind of what does it like to see this team in this town up?
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's awesome, because if any fan base divers a winner, it's the Browns, the Cleveland area, because they are so die-hard, and I try to explain this to other people from other fan bases, like, Cleveland hasn't done well in the past, but they sell out every game no matter what.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: When I played in Carolina, we were in the playoffs, my rookie year, we lost in the second round.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: Next year, everybody's excited.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: We lose our first two games.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: Our stadium's empty.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_01]: But again, and that's not a discredited to the fans.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have that rooted nature in generations, because they were established in 1995-96, so they don't have multiple generations of fans
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: football wise since Jim Brown years they were really good and then they had downs and then up against and downs.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_01]: So if anybody deserves a winner, if well, I know they had it in basketball and there was always great, but if they win a football championship, a Super Bowl, the stadium, the whole city may burn out.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_05]: I was talking about it.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_05]: I was literally talking about that exact conversation with my friend on thursdays and after the game.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_05]: Like like I think the city might burn down.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_05]: Bridget, you have the care
- 54:58[SPEAKER_02]: for real.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_02]: No vitamins.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not even, um, I don't even know how to describe it because like when we won that Thursday night game, it like felt like we won the Super Bowl.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_02]: And some people, maybe other fan bases are like, oh brown stands, you're so ridiculous.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: You won one game.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's how passionate and loyal this fan base is.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_02]: And that's how excited we get to win regular season games.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, to think about them making it to the playoffs.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then potentially winning a Super Bowl, I don't ever want to lose our minds.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_05]: Gary.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_05]: I'll be right there with you sister.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_05]: Don't worry.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_05]: Gary, one guy who's made a big impact the last couple weeks for the Browns has gotten three, yeah, three in a row.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_05]: Now, that's crazy to say.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_05]: How about the Cleveland Browns?
- 55:36[SPEAKER_05]: Harold Fan and Junior, tied on the second year.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, he had a great breakout rookie year with a quarterback, like a new quarterback every single week at scene, which Gary, you had the chance to kind of go through that little bit in Cleveland, too, and play with your fair share of quarterbacks.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_05]: How tough is it for a young past catcher to go on and do what he's been doing last year and a half now with just things constantly changing around him?
- 55:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, honestly, I think that's a true testament of a good player that you can adjust to it and it doesn't affect your production.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's always change in the NFL, no matter whether it's alignment, other positions, running back cubies, unfortunately, has been a lot in cubies and Cleveland, but that's inevitable.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna have change and just be able to adjust to it and not allow it to affect your preparation.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_01]: and how you're going to play, that's a testament to the player and how good he is.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_01]: I actually really liked him in college coming out as a prospect.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was, I didn't think he got enough credit because of where he went to college.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's putting up numbers that no other guys were doing, but he wasn't being recognized because oh, he's at the small school versus he's not at Ohio State.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's not at this big school.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's probably better than a lot of those guys, but he wasn't given that recognition.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: And he's showing, hey, this is how good I was.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_01]: Tighten, I wouldn't be doing justice if I didn't.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing I want to see him keep improving is run blocking.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think tighten should be too dimensional.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_01]: He shouldn't be one dimensional, because eventually you'll get figured out.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he's got better from his rookie year to this year run blocking.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he'll continue to improve, because I think he's that type of a player.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_01]: So, and I love that of him.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_05]: got a love of multi-faceted dude.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_05]: Bridget, there was a day in a time.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_05]: When if you were me, I was probably eighth grade freshman year high school when Gary Barnes was rockin' the town in Cleveland.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_05]: He had guys like me who were five foot to a hundred pounds being like, I'm playing tight out when I grew up.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_05]: You know, that's how crazy it was in downtown Cleveland.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_05]: Have you seen the catch against the ravens?
- 57:33[SPEAKER_05]: I've seen them flash.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_05]: Is it the craziest catch of all time?
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: It is very impressive and I have to say so when we get Gary first started dating, you know, you get to that point where you want to bring them around the family.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously I grew up in Green O'Hio, Northeastern, I don't know anything.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 57:47[SPEAKER_05]: That's my sensey.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, can't like bring in between Akron and Kitten.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, really?
- 57:50[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, geez.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_05]: Kitten with it.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like bored and raised the brownspan.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_02]: My dad's die hard.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_02]: My brother on my uncles.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_02]: So when I'm bringing Gary around, I'm like, all right, just no one be weird.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like fanboy out and ask him too many questions about football.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_02]: literally walk in my brother immediately.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_02]: So Gary, 5,000 questions about the Browns.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_02]: And then all of a sudden, my dad's messing with the TV and I'm like, what is he doing?
- 58:13[SPEAKER_02]: Putting up Gary Partich Highlights.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, okay, awesome.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_02]: And my mom's like, oh wow, you're so tall.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, could you guys just like get your ass together?
- 58:20[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, I'm like I am so sorry, Gary's most laid back humble person you'll ever want to meet so he's just taking it all with tried But anyways, so my dad, yes, he loves to play Gary Barn and Chilite, so I've seen all of the catches including the butt catch many times
- 58:36[SPEAKER_05]: We're, uh, can you, without just for probably the 10,000 times in your life just going straight through on the, the butt catch as it's being dubbed by some around Cleveland, Ohio, how crazy is that play?
- 58:46[SPEAKER_05]: Because I still think like 10 years later, I have no clue how you caught that.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it's, it's a little bit of luck in awareness.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I always say for it.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's a true judgment to Josh McCown.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_01]: because he had enough faith to throw the ball up, hey, give him a chance.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was getting hammered as he thrown it, too, because they brought it all, blitz, zero.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: And as one on one, he's like, give Gary a chance, do it up, we both went up, and it happened to land on my ankle.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't know if it hit the ground or not, I just had my foot on top of it.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_01]: But as I brought it to my butt, I got it to my hands and then I was able to show hey, we were in the end zone and I didn't know it was a touchdown or as an actual catch until Mitchell Swartz ran over to me and was like, you called that.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_01]: That didn't hit the ground because he's watching the whole play at right tackle.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so at that point, I had no idea if it hit the ground, bounce, I just know I gotta try and sell this as a catch.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_01]: But for me, I think the biggest thing was, we came off to the sideline and Brian Angelico was our Titan Coach.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he was like, oh, that was an amazing catch.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm like, it doesn't matter if we don't win this game.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_01]: Cause the catch doesn't mean anything.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: So to me, the bigger thing was the fact that we went to Baltimore and we won and Baltimore.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_01]: we hadn't done that a long time.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_01]: So to me, that was a bigger thing than me than the catch, because everybody went to like, I'm like, we need to start to win this game, because that didn't win the game for us.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: We still were in the game.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I think, I know everybody talks about the catch.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: I like talking about the game, though.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: Such a humble thing.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, it is.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_05]: That's just fire, it fires you up.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_05]: Get that guy back up.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's funny because like I, me and Gary are very opposite and a lot of things.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_02]: Opposite's tractor works out.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_02]: We're me.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like,
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_02]: outgoing and I want to perform and entertain people all the time.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's always like football was a job.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_02]: I came in, I wanted to play well, I wanted to win games.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you never did like a touchdown dance, anything?
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so how do you guys, I guess you voted really cool things in front of a lot of people when it comes to Brown's games and they're in different lenses, you know.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_05]: How do you so bridge a list, you I guess, first on it, like how do you knock it into, like I feel like in a way, if you're playing football, like that's what you do your whole entire life.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_05]: And obviously bridge it, like you've been talking from a microphone for a long time.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_05]: It's not like it's not second nature to you.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously it is.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_05]: But like when you're up there in front of that, many people, how hard is it's not freak out?
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_05]: Like it's for us, it's like when we're on live every day.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_05]: Like I feel like I don't mess up a ton and then we do an intro where it can get caught and I messed up the first time we did today.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_05]: Like how do you not mess up ever?
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's crazy to think about, I like feed off an energy of a crowd.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_02]: So when I'm down there, there's people are like, God, how do you not get in your head when 70,000 people are watching you?
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I feed off that.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_02]: And if I'm like ever lose that butterfly feeling or die in adrenaline rush, I'll know, maybe I'm not as passionate about my work anymore, but there's no better feeling.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_02]: And then once you're done, you just look around like this is unbelievable.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_05]: And Gary, is there more pressure trying to catch up on the Amazon or being the dog pound captain and breaking the guitar in the proper amount of strides?
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: For me, it'd be the dog pound captain because I do not like attention.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a guy who's just, I want to go out there.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_01]: Do what I'm supposed to do.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can be a little silent leader.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a raw rock guy.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to go out there and just work.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_01]: And that's somebody you can count on, that's what I want to do.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_01]: So when you had to go to a dog on captain, you have to like, row the crowd up, that's not me at all.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm very out of my element.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_01]: But when you're playing, like since we've done it for so long, or since I've been a high school and even middle school, it's a second ageer, like I don't hear the crowd when I'm out there.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't hear any of that, so everything's blocked out.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm only focused on what I gotta do, who I'm going against, how I gotta catch this ball or block this guy, I don't hear anything else.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_01]: I know it doesn't happen for a lot of guys, but I do have that ability to block out everything that's going on around, so I don't ever hear it to crowd.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I can really do you in that sense when I have to do my hits that are in the crowd of in the stands.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_02]: I have to really shove my IPs, my headphones in my ears because a lot of fans, they're passionate.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_02]: They want to be on camera.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you get the tip of like, interview me and let me jump in your camera shot and I do act to just block everything out because they will be.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_02]: I can feel them behind me doing gestures or trying to get in front of my microphone and I just block everything out and get through my talking points.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then I can high five them and enjoy it afterwards.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_05]: be before we have a fun surprise game at the end for Gary Bridget.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_05]: I got to ask you about the moon a lot because I've been seeing the what is the video you guys do for so it's a partnership with Bud Light and so we're growing.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_02]: We're trying to find the Bud Light Top Dog.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_02]: So it's the most passionate Browns fan of course enjoying their time in the moon a lot prior to.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean that's like the only part that I'll say I miss about being a fan rather than working for the team.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_02]: There was nothing like that moon a lot.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_05]: No, it's the most fun place in the home room.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_02]: It is so fun.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone's so amped up just before the game.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_02]: So prior to whatever the outcome is, everyone is so excited.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_02]: They're bringing their speakers or cooking out.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_02]: They go all out, it's so fun.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_05]: Gary, have you gotten the mini lot of experience out?
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_05]: I have not.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, wow.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_05]: You got that.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_05]: That's got to be knocked out this year.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_05]: That absolutely has to happen.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you can take them.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be at the stadium already getting prepped.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_05]: You can see.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_05]: We should still see the mini lot, though.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_05]: How early did you get there to do that?
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_02]: I have to be at the stadium by nine.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, I'm so like I do that.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's early.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so 30 to nine and then I'm out
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_05]: Like, I'm a big, like, Uber down to the Munilot kind of guy to people who text you like, oh, like, for a, it's like, that's something.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's absolutely not fun game here for you Gary before we get you guys out of here.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_05]: Thanks again for stopping on and to talk some brownies with us.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_05]: I had Bridget send me a few of her favorite items slash things.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_05]: So we're gonna give you the quiz on the favorite item slash things to see how you do there are.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_02]: Are there confidence level right now?
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, where's the confidence level going in?
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_05]: There's five of them.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_05]: How many do you think we'll give?
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm about six and a half seven percent confident.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, you're not going to know.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: Out of ten.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm like, you don't think you don't know.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought it was like out of a hundred.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, six and a half seven out of ten confidence.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_05]: First question.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_05]: Richard's favorite song.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_01]: Song.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: So there's different levels to this, because there may be an R and B song she likes.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_01]: There may be a rap song she likes.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: But if I had to pick one, I'm going to give her one.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually one that I introduced her to.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_01]: That is, she may not have said this one, because she always forgets about it, but it's called Hooked by Avant.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_02]: Jack, I introduced you to that song.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: She introduced me to that song.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_02]: OK, I should have put that.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I thought about it after I already sent you those texts because Gary is R&B King.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like, he has underrun R&B songs.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_02]: No one's heard of it.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_02]: Hell yeah.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I've already loved R&B.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's one thing that we definitely had in common when we first met.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_02]: And he sent me hooked.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_02]: And I was hooked after that.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_02]: So me and Jack were talking about it when I was on a show.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_02]: I got to send you some good R&B songs and that was one.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, though it would be share if she if she didn't say they would have been shared because that's okay.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, so that that that is there that is in there.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_05]: So it's a point right.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_05]: That's a point.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a point is a big share fan.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_01]: She thinks she can sing like share.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I can.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_05]: Uh oh, favorite movie.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_01]: So favorite movie.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_01]: So this is.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_01]: I won't try to get her into horror movies.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's not working.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_01]: I says not working.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be disappointed if you don't get this.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is easy because she quotes it all the time, but then if you ask her any, she's ever quoting us thing, you ever don't know what it is, just say stepbrothers, because that's what it is.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then occasionally she'll throw on wedding crashes.
- 1:06:04[UNKNOWN]: Yep.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, a wedding crashes is one of my favorite moves.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_05]: Definitely so funny.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_05]: Whoa, the most favorite color.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's easy.
