- John C. Lyons: Hello and welcome to Cinema Activist. My name is John Lyons and I'm your host here. This is the official intro or episode zero of season three of Cinema Activist. Cinema Activist has run for 35 episodes, two seasons in 2021 and 2022. So we've had a bit of a hiatus and of course a lot has changed in the last four years. Primarily for this season, I'm going to be focusing on two projects that I'm currently fundraising for. The first of which is a narrative feature film called The Holy Ghost. It's a dark comedy thriller. And also in the last three years, I've started an immersive theater company called Tethered. And we are working on two interconnected experiences for this year. One is a live immersive theatrical experience that we're calling The Lever. And there's an interconnected audio drama with that show that we're calling Seized right now. So these two projects are my primary focus. And as I said, I'm fundraising for those right now. So part of this podcast will be talking through that process of raising money, developing those projects, talking about the inspirations of the projects. And I'll be bringing on ⁓ various creatives that are going to be involved in those two projects. Really excited about both of those. But it won't just be about my projects. I'll also be bringing on friends and other guests to talk about their experiences with getting their independent productions, whether they be in the film. ⁓ medium or in the immersive medium ⁓ and kind of taking a deep dive on, you know, learning the things that worked and the things that maybe didn't work and the challenges and everything in between. So I see this podcast as being not just for creatives out there that are trying to create their own work, but also ⁓ for people who appreciate the arts and independent cinema and independent theater and might want to get a deeper dive behind the scenes of inspirations and stories and kind of the inner workings of the creative process. So that's Cinema Activist. And again, this is season three back. There's a lot that has changed in the last four years. ⁓ In some ways, as always, it feels like it's both easier and more difficult to create a film, especially a feature film, and bring it to life and have people actually see it. ⁓ And of course, after the pandemic, it's been difficult for a little while there for immersive theater. I have over 20 years of experience in film production and I'm a newbie. just have three years experience and two shows ⁓ that we've successfully pulled off under the tethered ⁓ brand. But I think that it'll be fun to kind of bring you in to the process at this point in time to kind of follow, follow through. ⁓ It's good timing to bring you in on the process here because we haven't started rolling cameras, we haven't started casting, but both of these projects have scripts that are either finished or are being worked on right now. And yeah, it'll be a really good time to take you through the whole thing ⁓ and kind of give you a behind the scenes peek behind the curtain of both of these. This link down below will lead you to some of my previous work. ⁓ Check it out and see what we're all about here at Cinema Activist. This is a link to follow us on our various platforms. I'm not going to be reminding you every episode to like and subscribe. for both of our sakes, take a minute and ⁓ click the links and like and subscribe. And I look forward to next episodes where I'll introduce you to both of these projects in more detail and the reason why I think it's the right time to tell these stories and why I think I'm the right person to tell them and then introduce you to the awesome teams that are involved in each of these projects so far. And then bring on my first guest, an awesome filmmaker, a badass filmmaker who grounded out and came up with funding and shot her own feature film and we'll talk through her trials and tribulations. thanks for listening, like and subscribe and I'll be back really soon and we're just gonna jump right in and see how goes. Thank you so much for listening. We'll be back soon.
