- 0:00Speaker 1: Attention, shoppers!
- 0:02Speaker 2: I trust you've got credit cards to pay for all
- 0:05Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Hi, this is Captain Mary Stewart, and you're listening to
- 0:10Speaker 3: Movie Meltdown.
- 0:17Speaker 4: It's showtime.
- 0:18Speaker 3: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:21Speaker 3: Picture Association of America.
- 0:23Speaker 5: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:27Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:03Speaker 5: I want my two dollars!
- 1:15Speaker 2: What's up? Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:17Speaker 6: I'm Misty.
- 1:18Speaker 4: And I'm still Jay.
- 1:20Speaker 2: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from Lexington,
- 1:23Speaker 2: home of the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Woo!
- 1:26Speaker 2: We're back. Another round of convention times.
- 1:30Speaker 6: My feet hurt.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I mean, I have that every day, but... Yeah, I
- 1:35Speaker 2: don't know that it's anymore today. I feel like most
- 1:37Speaker 2: of the time.
- 1:38Speaker 6: Trying to break in.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Most things hurt.
- 1:39Speaker 6: Breaking in newish chucks at a convention.
- 1:41Speaker 2: It's a challenge.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Oh, you wore newish chucks?
- 1:44Speaker 6: I wore these, but I've only worn them a handful
- 1:46Speaker 6: of times.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:47Speaker 6: And I think I tied them a little bit too tight.
- 1:50Speaker 2: That is a challenge that continues as long as I've
- 1:53Speaker 2: been tying shoes. You'd think by now I'd just... I
- 1:55Speaker 2: don't want a ratchet system on them. Well, they're like a...
- 1:58Speaker 2: so it's a set system and then it can also
- 2:00Speaker 2: match on one foot and then the other.
- 2:02Speaker 6: And they're like a size too big because I got
- 2:04Speaker 6: them at like a peddler's mall because I'm a cheap ass.
- 2:07Speaker 6: Fucking A, $ 10 chucks.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I mean, can't beat that.
- 2:11Speaker 6: Not even with a stick.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 2:14Speaker 6: And I did. And now I'm paying for it.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Painfully. Just shove some newspaper in there, you'll be fine.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Well, my main thing was, oh, it's going to be
- 2:23Speaker 6: cold soon. I'll be wearing thicker socks. I'll be fine.
- 2:25Speaker 6: It'll be perfect. And I would have been fine. But
- 2:28Speaker 6: then my other pair of regular everyday chucks, the pink
- 2:32Speaker 6: and black ones.
- 2:32Speaker 2: The default chucks.
- 2:34Speaker 6: They had a bust out. They blew out. The bottom
- 2:38Speaker 6: came out of one of them. And I have not
- 2:40Speaker 6: yet bought any goo. What's it called? Goo glue or
- 2:43Speaker 6: goo shoe goo?
- 2:44Speaker 4: Shoe goo.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I had one of those. I was attempting. I was like,
- 2:47Speaker 2: I wonder if it'll actually work. Because I feel like
- 2:49Speaker 2: the spot that mine is wearing out, it won't.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Mine was like the heel area. So I was kind
- 2:54Speaker 6: of like concerned.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Mine's like a regular shoe. But it's like right on
- 2:57Speaker 2: the side at the point, the only point where it
- 3:00Speaker 2: kind of bends if you move your foot. So I'm like, yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 2: that's just going to bust right back open.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Shoes.
- 3:06Speaker 2: They're a lot to deal with.
- 3:07Speaker 6: This episode brought to you by... Shoes.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Chucks.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Shoes. I bought a pony with a shoe on its
- 3:13Speaker 6: butt today.
- 3:14Speaker 2: That's true. And I was like, is that a real thing?
- 3:17Speaker 6: What do you mean, is that a real thing?
- 3:18Speaker 2: I told you. At the time, I had not seen
- 3:20Speaker 2: that one before. So I was just like, I know
- 3:22Speaker 2: my original run of pony butts, but I didn't know
- 3:25Speaker 2: shoe butt pony.
- 3:26Speaker 6: Yeah, it's like one of the newborn ones. And it's
- 3:29Speaker 6: super cute. And I like my little ponies because I'm
- 3:31Speaker 6: apparently forever in the 80s and child.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I mean, that's the only way I operate at this point.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I am just a 12-year-old that continues to continue on
- 3:44Speaker 2: and be an old person and yet somehow still 12
- 3:47Speaker 2: years old. It works for me, whatever.
- 3:49Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 3:51Speaker 2: So, we went out into the convention world once again.
- 3:54Speaker 6: It was so many people.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It wasn't bad, though. Everybody seemed like they were in
- 3:59Speaker 2: good spirits this time.
- 4:01Speaker 6: For the most part. Minimal smells, because there were a few.
- 4:05Speaker 2: No fights breaking out. Everybody was just kind of like, oh, hey,
- 4:08Speaker 2: how's it going?
- 4:09Speaker 4: Sorry, we're out of the way.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Everybody seemed pretty.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Cool about it.
- 4:12Speaker 6: I was kind of surprised that one girl remembered us
- 4:14Speaker 6: from walking by her booth. She's like, you all walked
- 4:17Speaker 6: by earlier. I'm like, there's a lot of people. Why
- 4:19Speaker 6: do you remember me walking by?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Wait, which one was it?
- 4:22Speaker 6: The Lego booth. Like, when we stopped there, she's like,
- 4:26Speaker 6: You all stopped by earlier. I'm like, this is the
- 4:27Speaker 6: first booth and we have walked around the entire place
- 4:29Speaker 6: up and down. Sat down and ate a snack. And
- 4:31Speaker 6: you still remember me walking by? Girl, you have seen
- 4:34Speaker 6: a lot of people.
- 4:36Speaker 2: She's got special brain and she just remembers everything.
- 4:39Speaker 7: I guess.
- 4:40Speaker 6: I'm not complaining. I think it's awesome. But still, I
- 4:42Speaker 6: was just like, why do you remember me walking by?
- 4:45Speaker 2: I'm tracking everyone. Keeping track of all these weirdos.
- 4:50Speaker 6: There are plenty of weirdos.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Dressed up in costumes.
- 4:54Speaker 6: Oh, awesome costumes.
- 4:55Speaker 2: They're all pretty impressive.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Some of them, not so much.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Some of them, not so much, but I kind of appreciate,
- 5:01Speaker 2: like I've discussed before, I like ones that are like the,
- 5:05Speaker 2: not like half-ass in it, like somewhere in the middle
- 5:08Speaker 2: is lame. I think it's the ones that are like,
- 5:10Speaker 2: I'm barely even gonna put effort into this.
- 5:13Speaker 6: Like that one guy who was wearing like a onesie?
- 5:15Speaker 2: No, the one guy was wearing a shirt that looked
- 5:19Speaker 2: like he might have made the words on it himself.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And it said Joe Cool, and he was wearing sunglasses.
- 5:24Speaker 4: That's it.
- 5:26Speaker 2: He wasn't in a beagle suit or anything. Like, he
- 5:28Speaker 2: didn't have the full-blown thing. He was just wearing a
- 5:31Speaker 2: t-shirt and sunglasses. And he's like, yep, I'm dressed up.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Wow.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I was like, that's pretty awesome, actually. I kind of
- 5:38Speaker 2: like the half-ass effort. But not totally, like, kind of trying,
- 5:42Speaker 2: but then half-assing it.
- 5:43Speaker 5: No.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I like that. I'm not going to put much effort
- 5:45Speaker 2: at all into this. But I'm going to go with something.
- 5:49Speaker 6: I like to try to play the game of is
- 5:50Speaker 6: that person actually in a costume?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Which we have played before. Now, I know in the
- 5:54Speaker 2: past we were playing the shaggy version of it. Today
- 5:58Speaker 2: we had a couple.
- 6:00Speaker 6: It was two females. It could be a couple. Could
- 6:02Speaker 6: it be friends?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Well, I had one too. So, you can do yours first.
- 6:07Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure it was Wayne and Garth.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I was like, or, because we saw them from the back.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I was like, or it's just.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Girls wearing flannel.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Well, she had like the black baseball hat on and
- 6:17Speaker 6: she had like the ripped up jeans.
- 6:19Speaker 2: But they were relatively young, so the fact that they
- 6:21Speaker 2: would know who Wayne and Garth is, they must be
- 6:23Speaker 2: watching the loop-it-around SNL channel or something.
- 6:27Speaker 6: Or they have cool parents.
- 6:28Speaker 2: That could be it.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Because now you're getting to the age of kids that.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Like my dad made me watch these stupid videos of
- 6:36Speaker 2: this guy and this other guy, and they're in a basement.
- 6:39Speaker 2: They may think it's an actual thing. They may be like,
- 6:42Speaker 2: I think this is a live feed from some dude's basement.
- 6:45Speaker 6: But yeah, if they were in fact cosplaying... Wayne's World characters.
- 6:49Speaker 6: I was pretty impressed. Oh, I'm also impressed if that's
- 6:52Speaker 6: just a regular day-to-day gear because I am totally okay
- 6:54Speaker 6: with people bringing back the 90s. I love a good
- 6:58Speaker 6: flannel and ripped jeans. I dig the whole aesthetic.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I live in flannels every day of my life. There's
- 7:03Speaker 2: one on me right now. That's just my go-to.
- 7:06Speaker 6: Let's be serious. There are few things hotter than a
- 7:08Speaker 6: chick with shorts and docs.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Yeah. Not gonna argue that.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Sounds like a flannel.
- 7:14Speaker 6: And a flannel.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Flannel.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Flannel.
- 7:16Speaker 2: These are all good choices.
- 7:17Speaker 6: Even if the flannel's just wrapped around the waist.
- 7:19Speaker 4: That's a good look.
- 7:20Speaker 6: That's a good look.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Sometimes you gotta see Adelaide. You know, that's how it works.
- 7:23Speaker 6: I mean, that's a good look. That's a timeless. That
- 7:25Speaker 6: is fucking timeless.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I think that as my plan, because as you know,
- 7:30Speaker 2: I'm hot all the damn time. So half the time, like,
- 7:32Speaker 2: I can't even wear a hoodie. That's too much for me.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So sometimes I'll bring it with me and I'm not
- 7:36Speaker 2: gonna wear it, like today. Look, there's one sitting right there.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But then I'll be like, okay, I'll wear the flannel,
- 7:42Speaker 2: but if the forest comes to worse, I can see Adelaide.
- 7:45Speaker 2: You're just tired around your waist and you look like
- 7:47Speaker 2: you're trying a little too hard to be cool. But
- 7:51Speaker 2: you're not hot at least, so you got that going
- 7:52Speaker 2: for you. Mine was, the guy walked by and I
- 7:55Speaker 2: was like, Jesus, cosplay? I was like, oh, no, wait,
- 7:58Speaker 2: I think it's just a dude with long hair and
- 7:59Speaker 2: a beard. But for a second, I swear, I was like, oh, look,
- 8:03Speaker 2: he's doing, oh, no, wait, it's just a guy. I
- 8:06Speaker 2: think I'm pretty sure, because his girlfriend wasn't in an outfit,
- 8:08Speaker 2: so I was just like, oh, I think it's just
- 8:10Speaker 2: a dude with long hair and a beard.
- 8:12Speaker 6: There were some elaborate costumes.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Still partial to Baymax dancing around.
- 8:18Speaker 6: That was pretty fun. But that's so impractical. He would
- 8:22Speaker 6: take up an entire fucking... There's the geese.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Well, he was out in the middle of the room, though.
- 8:27Speaker 2: He was out in the lobby area.
- 8:28Speaker 6: You can't tell me that he eventually didn't try to
- 8:30Speaker 6: wander through them aisles. Some of those aisles are tighter
- 8:32Speaker 6: than others. People would be ducking into boots to get
- 8:35Speaker 6: away from him.
- 8:35Speaker 2: It was one of the big inflatable type ones. He
- 8:37Speaker 2: had a little tiny window in the front so he
- 8:39Speaker 2: could see.
- 8:39Speaker 6: I'm not saying that he was a large person, but
- 8:41Speaker 6: his costume itself was large.
- 8:42Speaker 2: No, it was a giant inflatable costume. But that's what
- 8:45Speaker 2: I'm thinking. I'm like, maybe he just planned to hang
- 8:47Speaker 2: out in the lobby tape area so everybody could be like, ooh, cool, look.
- 8:50Speaker 2: And then he's like, I'm going to go walk around.
- 8:51Speaker 2: He just deflates and walks around in a pair of shorts.
- 8:56Speaker 6: He could have been that shirtless guy.
- 8:58Speaker 4: He could be.
- 8:59Speaker 6: He could be that one guy. Oh, that guy had wings.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Do you want to go into that guy?
- 9:03Speaker 6: That guy was majestic. I kind of wish I had
- 9:05Speaker 6: gotten a picture with him just because nobody's going to believe.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I mean, I did ask. I was like, do you
- 9:08Speaker 2: want a picture with him?
- 9:09Speaker 6: If I had any idea what his costume was, I
- 9:11Speaker 6: might have.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I think you just didn't want to be that close
- 9:14Speaker 2: to the banana hammock area.
- 9:17Speaker 6: I was afraid something was going to break loose.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I mean, it did kind of seem like it was.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And I'm not sure there weren't tube socks involved as well.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Something was going to slingshot out of there at me. Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 2: So how would you describe this dude?
- 9:29Speaker 6: Majestic, like I said.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But in detail.
- 9:33Speaker 6: A muscled version of Borat would be the costume we're
- 9:37Speaker 6: going for. But it was red, and I don't know
- 9:40Speaker 6: my character. I'm assuming comic book. I have no idea.
- 9:44Speaker 6: There was wings involved. They were ginormous wings.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Giant-ass wings.
- 9:48Speaker 6: And he was very fit. Very fit. And there was
- 9:52Speaker 6: not a lot of material. Which, again, if I were
- 9:56Speaker 6: a guy and I had that figure, I would wear
- 9:59Speaker 6: something like that.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 10:00Speaker 2: That's still a lot to concern yourself with as you're
- 10:02Speaker 2: walking around in public.
- 10:03Speaker 6: But that has put in a lot of trust in spandex. Because,
- 10:06Speaker 6: I mean, just the tensile strength of the fabric going
- 10:07Speaker 6: from the shoulders to the crotch area. I mean, Jesus Christ.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Whether he was there or not.
- 10:13Speaker 2: He might have been there.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I thought.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Maybe I just had a religious experience at the Comic-Con, but.
- 10:19Speaker 6: I don't know. Me too, when I saw the guy
- 10:20Speaker 6: with the wings.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I still don't think he was quite as muscly as
- 10:25Speaker 2: that other Steve Austin dude you saw.
- 10:28Speaker 6: Or the guy with the tattoo, which we're not going
- 10:30Speaker 6: to make fun of, because that would be mean. But
- 10:32Speaker 6: guy with the tattoo, if you know you're the guy
- 10:35Speaker 6: with the tattoo.
- 10:36Speaker 2: You should know better by now. And, I mean, really,
- 10:39Speaker 2: if I were him, as good as it looked, I'd
- 10:41Speaker 2: just be wearing a shirt.
- 10:44Speaker 6: What was his costume?
- 10:46Speaker 2: I don't know. I think he was just dude that
- 10:47Speaker 2: took his shirt off at a convention.
- 10:49Speaker 6: He was just like, I've got man boobs. Look at them.
- 10:51Speaker 6: They were firm. They were like, he worked out or
- 10:53Speaker 6: he had implants. I couldn't tell.
- 10:55Speaker 2: This is the rule that I've said to you a
- 10:57Speaker 2: thousand times. But in case anybody out there has missed
- 11:00Speaker 2: the update, if you're thinking of getting yourself a tattoo,
- 11:03Speaker 2: it all comes down to two things. Placement and size.
- 11:08Speaker 2: You don't just randomly slap whatever. His was good. I
- 11:13Speaker 2: feel like quality goes unsaid. And I know a lot
- 11:16Speaker 2: of people still walk into a place they've never heard
- 11:18Speaker 2: of before and pick something off the wall, which is
- 11:21Speaker 2: two bad ideas, really. Do your research. Find somebody who's
- 11:24Speaker 2: legitimately good. Come in with what you want. You can
- 11:28Speaker 2: have flash if you find something cool you want, but still,
- 11:31Speaker 2: do your research.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Ahead of time.
- 11:32Speaker 6: And I am not mocking the quality of his tattoo.
- 11:34Speaker 2: No, it was really good. But it was in the
- 11:37Speaker 2: center of his back.
- 11:39Speaker 6: I can't even say he was ripped like Jesus because
- 11:40Speaker 6: he was like beyond Jesus.
- 11:42Speaker 2: He was just beefy.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Yeah, he was. But not in a bad way.
- 11:46Speaker 2: But the center of his back and about the size
- 11:48Speaker 2: of your palm, maybe?
- 11:49Speaker 6: I don't even know if it was that big.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It was like less than a saucer.
- 11:53Speaker 6: We're not going to say what it was. We're not
- 11:55Speaker 6: going to say what it was.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Okay, we'll leave it at that. But yeah, a saucer
- 11:58Speaker 2: that you'd sit a coffee cup on. It was smaller
- 12:01Speaker 2: than that. But in the dead center, not even centered
- 12:04Speaker 2: in the middle of his shoulders where maybe then like
- 12:06Speaker 2: he's in the mid process and you could add on
- 12:08Speaker 2: some actual wings or something or whatever the hell he
- 12:10Speaker 2: thinks he's doing. But no, it was just dead center
- 12:13Speaker 2: of his back. Kind of small.
- 12:16Speaker 6: Strange.
- 12:17Speaker 2: It's a weird size and placement. That's all I'm saying.
- 12:21Speaker 2: So once again, keep that in mind when making your
- 12:24Speaker 2: life decisions.
- 12:25Speaker 6: Maybe he's happy with the outcome.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Maybe so. I mean, he can't see it.
- 12:28Speaker 3: So what difference does it make?
- 12:29Speaker 2: Exactly. He's got to have like a set of ears.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Does he even know it's back there?
- 12:32Speaker 2: Couple of different mirrors to be like oh look that looks.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Cool what else did we see it's all a pyramid
- 12:38Speaker 6: head that was pretty awesome but i'm surprised that's still
- 12:40Speaker 6: kind of a thing yeah and.
- 12:41Speaker 2: This isn't right that's been around that is weird it's usually.
- 12:44Speaker 6: More of the scarefest crowd not so much the comic-con
- 12:48Speaker 6: crowd i.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Guess once you've got that giant ass pyramid head you
- 12:51Speaker 2: gotta work in it as often as you can and then.
- 12:53Speaker 6: There was that one kid that i made fun of
- 12:54Speaker 6: because his whole costume didn't match like okay are you
- 12:57Speaker 6: a power ranger or no was it bumblebee Are you Bumblebee?
- 13:02Speaker 6: Are you Bumblebee? Or are you Iron Man? Because you
- 13:05Speaker 6: need to figure it out.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Iron Bumble?
- 13:07Speaker 6: Because he had like the body suit. Maybe he just
- 13:10Speaker 6: didn't have the mask. Maybe it's like, you know, like
- 13:12Speaker 6: when I was a kid and we were poor. Not
- 13:14Speaker 6: that I'm saying this kid was poor, but we would
- 13:16Speaker 6: like put stuff together on our own. Maybe he just
- 13:19Speaker 6: likes both. Maybe he wants to mash up.
- 13:22Speaker 2: I'm telling you. B-Man.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Iron Bumble.
- 13:27Speaker 6: That's Possibilities are endless. That's what I was going for.
- 13:34Speaker 6: And then there was the most amazing thing I've ever
- 13:36Speaker 6: seen in my entire life. I walked around a corner
- 13:40Speaker 6: and out of nowhere holy shit it was like the
- 13:43Speaker 6: damn near the prop display. This guy made this entire
- 13:49Speaker 6: section of what was going on.
- 13:51Speaker 2: This was your religious experience.
- 13:53Speaker 6: I was just literally holy shit I couldn't even stop it.
- 13:57Speaker 6: It just came out and I was mesmerized and I
- 14:01Speaker 6: waited in line not once, but twice. Actually, we didn't
- 14:03Speaker 6: wait in line very long the first time. They had, like,
- 14:07Speaker 6: an experience, as it was. Different scenes and scenarios. Not
- 14:11Speaker 6: really scenes, but first of all, the most dramatic.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 14:15Speaker 6: One of the greatest movies of all time that Boyfriend
- 14:16Speaker 6: will not watch. The NeverEnding Story.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Maybe I'll watch it sometime.
- 14:22Speaker 6: We can fast forward through the Bastion parts.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You're bestest friends with the star of it.
- 14:27Speaker 4: It just yells too much.
- 14:28Speaker 2: But Bastion yells a whole lot.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Bastion yells a whole lot.
- 14:31Speaker 6: But holy shit, there before my very eyes was, god damn,
- 14:35Speaker 6: the most traumatizing thing. They had like a fucking mock-up
- 14:39Speaker 6: of fucking Artax in the Swamp of Sadness.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I mean, they know everybody's scarred for life from that.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And yet they still built this thing. Don't get me wrong,
- 14:47Speaker 2: I'm impressed with it. And specifically the mechanics of it.
- 14:49Speaker 6: Because it's fucking interactive. It is interactive. It's like, after
- 14:54Speaker 6: he is set in his position because apparently you have
- 14:56Speaker 6: to pull him back to get him like locked in
- 14:58Speaker 6: and then when you pull upon his reins which you
- 15:00Speaker 6: do because more trauma needs to be inflicted upon us
- 15:04Speaker 6: it's like his head moves and he comes and then
- 15:07Speaker 6: like he like he comes forward and then sinks further
- 15:09Speaker 6: into this fucking oh my god.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I said to her as i walked by i was
- 15:13Speaker 2: like trauma i was like why would you do this
- 15:15Speaker 2: why it's great i impressed with the artistry is amazing
- 15:20Speaker 2: but trauma, why would you do this?
- 15:22Speaker 4: You too know that you cannot save him.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Although her answer was the best, but she says, well,
- 15:28Speaker 2: in our version, he never sinks. He's always at this point.
- 15:32Speaker 6: There was a girl who was in front of us
- 15:33Speaker 6: who refused to pull it all the way. She kind
- 15:35Speaker 6: of pulled it a little bit and she's like, no, no, no.
- 15:37Speaker 6: And she went up and hugged his little head.
- 15:38Speaker 4: And I was just like, aww.
- 15:40Speaker 2: We all feel that way, ma'am. We all feel that way.
- 15:43Speaker 6: She wouldn't pull that final little, like, she wouldn't get
- 15:45Speaker 6: that little tug that would pull him a little bit
- 15:46Speaker 6: further in. So, yeah. And then they had Well, obviously,
- 15:51Speaker 6: they're going to have Falcor.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I was, I mean, I figured, I was surprised with
- 15:55Speaker 2: the other versions, because, again, Falcor is the go-to. Like,
- 15:58Speaker 2: even the, like, halfway fans of it are like, oh, yeah, like,
- 16:02Speaker 2: they all know Falcor.
- 16:03Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure that girl who was on Falcor was
- 16:06Speaker 6: not a fan, even in the slightest.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Now, that's one I guess we have to stop and
- 16:09Speaker 2: go into that for a minute, because this girl, she's
- 16:12Speaker 2: dressed as an anime girl. She's got, like, blue eyebrows
- 16:15Speaker 2: and stuff, so she's, like, full-on in some version of anime.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Absolutely no joy in her face.
- 16:21Speaker 2: But, yeah, she's sitting on top of a giant luck dragon. And, like,
- 16:25Speaker 2: at that point, you're supposed to throw not one, but
- 16:27Speaker 2: both arms up and go, Wahoo!
- 16:29Speaker 6: At least one, because you have to hold on with something.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's how it works when you're riding
- 16:34Speaker 2: a luck dragon.
- 16:35Speaker 6: And some person, may or may not have been her,
- 16:37Speaker 6: but at least one of her parents, paid at least
- 16:38Speaker 6: $ 20 for this experience. Zero happiness.
- 16:41Speaker 4: She was so unenthused.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I was kind of in shock. I was just like,
- 16:47Speaker 2: Even if you don't care about this movie, which I'm guessing, again,
- 16:51Speaker 2: she was of the age that probably her parents were
- 16:54Speaker 2: the right age. So I'm guessing her parents love Never
- 16:58Speaker 2: Ending Story. And they've told her about it a million times.
- 17:00Speaker 2: They're like, it's the greatest movie.
- 17:01Speaker 4: You're going to love it.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Which, by the way, if you do that with your child,
- 17:04Speaker 2: you're guaranteed they're not going to like whatever it is
- 17:06Speaker 2: you're trying to tell them about. They're just going to
- 17:08Speaker 2: be like, ugh, this dumb thing my parents want me
- 17:10Speaker 2: to watch. So she climbed on it and was like,
- 17:13Speaker 2: I don't know what this is. Like the Never Stopping
- 17:15Speaker 2: Story or something. It's really stupid. So she kind of
- 17:18Speaker 2: had that attitude. And then she sat there with the
- 17:20Speaker 2: most morose motherfucking grin on her face. Just like, I
- 17:25Speaker 2: don't like any of this.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Daria would look more cheerful than her. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: It was a sad experience.
- 17:30Speaker 6: And the fist didn't even go up. It went kind
- 17:32Speaker 6: of out. It was damn near a Hitler salute. Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 6: she was just kind of half-assing it. It was a fist.
- 17:37Speaker 6: It was not like the salute.
- 17:39Speaker 4: No joy.
- 17:39Speaker 2: There was no joy. No joy.
- 17:41Speaker 6: No joy for the Nazis. I'm not saying the kid
- 17:43Speaker 6: was a Nazi.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I don't think they would put up with her blue
- 17:47Speaker 2: hair and eyebrows. So they would weed her right out
- 17:50Speaker 2: if that was the case. So she's barking up the
- 17:52Speaker 2: wrong tree if that's what she's looking for.
- 17:54Speaker 6: Okay, so when you first walk in the area, to
- 17:56Speaker 6: your immediate left would have been Artax in the Swamp
- 17:58Speaker 6: of Sadness. And then to your far right would have
- 18:01Speaker 6: been the Electragon of Falkor. And then as you go around, counterclockwise,
- 18:06Speaker 6: because I'm doing things fucking backwards, you're going to run
- 18:09Speaker 6: into the Rockbiter. Which, holy shit, the Rockbiter looked amazing.
- 18:13Speaker 2: It was possibly to scale. I don't really know the
- 18:16Speaker 2: dimensions exactly.
- 18:17Speaker 6: I think Rockbiter might have been a little bit bigger.
- 18:18Speaker 2: He looked a little... Yeah, he wasn't maybe not 100%,
- 18:21Speaker 2: but he was pretty damn big. And then... The most
- 18:25Speaker 2: impressive part.
- 18:26Speaker 6: The part that had me the most excited. Because, you know,
- 18:28Speaker 6: god damn, the Gmork is the most amazing creature that's
- 18:31Speaker 6: ever existed.
- 18:31Speaker 2: That whole character... As a child, I was mesmerized by it,
- 18:36Speaker 2: which again says a lot about me. Not the Luck Dragon, Gamork.
- 18:40Speaker 6: I love them both. But there's just something so viscerally
- 18:43Speaker 6: terrifying about the Gamork.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Primal. There's a primal badassery to the Gamork.
- 18:49Speaker 6: But the fact that both the Gamork and Falkor are
- 18:52Speaker 6: voiced by the same person just blows my mind.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Nah, that guy's a superstar. I get it.
- 18:58Speaker 6: But it's just boggled because they're so vastly different characters.
- 19:01Speaker 6: You have the Luck Dragon. pure, like, damn near white
- 19:04Speaker 6: and pearly. He is everything good and pure in the world.
- 19:07Speaker 6: And then you have the Gmorg.
- 19:09Speaker 2: All that is evil incarnate. The only thing that could
- 19:11Speaker 2: be more evil is if there was nothingness there.
- 19:14Speaker 6: He is the agent of the nothing. He is there,
- 19:18Speaker 6: and he is, oh, he's so fucking terrifying. And that's
- 19:23Speaker 6: what my $ 5 towards charity, actually $ 10 because I went
- 19:25Speaker 6: back again because I wasn't quite happy with my first
- 19:27Speaker 6: round of pictures. Nothing against the photographer. She did a
- 19:29Speaker 6: good job, but I'm fat. And I didn't like the angle.
- 19:32Speaker 6: And it looked like I had to pee. So I
- 19:33Speaker 6: had to go back and take the selfie angle. Because
- 19:36Speaker 6: everybody knows the selfie angle is the better angle.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I mean, I explained to her the deal. She was
- 19:41Speaker 2: a little confused. But I was like, it's okay. This
- 19:43Speaker 2: is how she likes it.
- 19:44Speaker 6: She was very supportive. She was very supportive. She was like, girl,
- 19:46Speaker 6: you look fantastic. You look amazing. But I'm only going
- 19:48Speaker 6: to let you do this. If you say, if you
- 19:49Speaker 6: look at the pictures afterward and say like, oh, I
- 19:51Speaker 6: look hot. So afterward, I was like, how are they?
- 19:56Speaker 6: How did it turn out? I'm like, oh, I'm cute
- 19:58Speaker 6: in this one. She was like, yes, girl.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I know what I'm doing. She's amazing. I know how
- 20:02Speaker 2: to display my cuteness.
- 20:03Speaker 6: But the fact that this guy made all of these things,
- 20:05Speaker 6: and I'm pretty sure it's the same guy who made
- 20:07Speaker 6: the Battle Cat and Panthor.
- 20:10Speaker 2: They usually have this display kind of in that same
- 20:13Speaker 2: spot every year. And there's usually giant geeky things for
- 20:16Speaker 2: you to climb on and ride. But this one, it
- 20:18Speaker 2: seemed like there were more. Like, normally it's just sort
- 20:20Speaker 2: of Battle Cat, Panthor, maybe one, maybe three of them.
- 20:24Speaker 2: But this one, like, the fact that it was an
- 20:25Speaker 2: installation of, like, five different things, more or less, that
- 20:28Speaker 2: you could go right around and play with.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Was it four?
- 20:31Speaker 2: Oh, they had a giant turtle head painted on the.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Wall, too, so.
- 20:34Speaker 6: Morla? I'm pretty sure it was Morla. I'm getting that
- 20:36Speaker 6: part wrong. But also on the side I did not
- 20:37Speaker 6: notice at first was they had like the bookstore window.
- 20:39Speaker 6: I was like, holy shit, they got the bookstore window.
- 20:41Speaker 2: He is this detailed.
- 20:43Speaker 6: Then they had the book laying there. I guess I
- 20:44Speaker 6: could have taken the book over and read it to Gmork.
- 20:47Speaker 2: That would be awesome.
- 20:48Speaker 6: How cute would that have been? Me sitting there reading
- 20:51Speaker 6: the Gmork.
- 20:51Speaker 2: He's got sleepy eyes.
- 20:53Speaker 6: And the eyes of the Gmork. His eyes were amazing.
- 20:57Speaker 6: Holy shit. They were like little screens, I guess, because
- 21:00Speaker 6: they were not like They lit up and were glowing electric.
- 21:03Speaker 2: And they were.
- 21:04Speaker 6: Fucking blinking and like looking around. She was like, oh,
- 21:07Speaker 6: I'm waiting for him to look your way. And I'm like, oh,
- 21:09Speaker 6: go Mark's going to look my way. Oh, he's looking.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Your way, girl.
- 21:13Speaker 2: He's getting ready to eat you.
- 21:16Speaker 6: My only, only complaint, and it is the slightest of complaints.
- 21:20Speaker 6: If you're going to have things that you interact, they
- 21:22Speaker 6: should stand out more from what the thing was. Because
- 21:24Speaker 6: I'm holding the knife and it looks like I'm like,
- 21:26Speaker 6: there's nothing there.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yes, I know. In the movie, the knife is just
- 21:29Speaker 2: a big piece of the broken rock that he stabs
- 21:31Speaker 2: him with, more or less.
- 21:31Speaker 6: But it should be a slightly different color than the
- 21:33Speaker 6: rock that's behind you.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It should stand out from the background that you're standing
- 21:36Speaker 2: there trying to stab him with.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Make it a darker colored rock.
- 21:38Speaker 6: And if you're handing the rock biter a rock, you
- 21:40Speaker 6: should be able to see the rock.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah, because he's made of rock, so you can't tell
- 21:43Speaker 2: the rock you're feeding him from the rock. How does
- 21:45Speaker 2: he know not to eat his own hand while he's
- 21:47Speaker 2: taking food up there?
- 21:47Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 21:50Speaker 2: It's a lot of thinking.
- 21:50Speaker 6: But it was actually the most amazing thing. Actually, I
- 21:52Speaker 6: shouldn't complain at all. Because this guy made all of
- 21:55Speaker 6: these things. All of them. And I got to experience.
- 21:58Speaker 6: I got a picture with the Gmork. And words cannot
- 22:02Speaker 6: express how happy I am.
- 22:04Speaker 2: It was amazing.
- 22:04Speaker 4: I was.
- 22:05Speaker 6: Because I had to go back. Because his boyfriend was
- 22:07Speaker 6: on his way. And I'm like, oh, my God. Because
- 22:10Speaker 6: I was like, am I going to regret it if
- 22:12Speaker 6: I don't go over and get a selfie with the Gmork?
- 22:15Speaker 6: I think I will. And then boyfriend's like, I'm on
- 22:17Speaker 6: my way. And I'm like, holy shit, I'm not going
- 22:19Speaker 6: to have time. The Gaborg is only like a once
- 22:21Speaker 6: in a lifetime, possibly. I don't know. He could come back.
- 22:24Speaker 6: I don't know. Anyway, so I got over there and
- 22:27Speaker 6: the lady was super nice. And she was like, I'll
- 22:29Speaker 6: try to work you in because not everybody's getting the
- 22:30Speaker 6: full experience, the full movie experience. Because that's what it was.
- 22:33Speaker 6: Because you could pay to get all the scenes. Although
- 22:37Speaker 6: I would not, I don't know if I could live
- 22:39Speaker 6: with the trauma of me pulling on Artax and having
- 22:42Speaker 6: him go into the swamp to stand there and perform.
- 22:43Speaker 6: I could not do it. Couldn't do it.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Well, and we can't forget the tie-in to other activities
- 22:50Speaker 2: that were going on there. The guy, I believe the
- 22:52Speaker 2: guy who made all the things, was also wearing a
- 22:55Speaker 2: very special costume.
- 22:57Speaker 6: Oh, Bernie!
- 22:58Speaker 2: I mean, you have to be a dork to recognize it,
- 23:00Speaker 2: because he's wearing a striped shirt and a windbreaker.
- 23:03Speaker 6: I don't even think I've ever seen that movie.
- 23:05Speaker 2: But you know the outfit. Oh, yeah. He doesn't bother
- 23:08Speaker 2: to change clothes, because guess what?
- 23:10Speaker 6: Spoiler, he's dead.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Oh, fuck.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Bernie's dead. So I was excited and even considering, I
- 23:17Speaker 2: was like, I don't know if I'm fully prepared for
- 23:18Speaker 2: the financial investment it would be. But they had not one,
- 23:21Speaker 2: but both of the dudes from Weekend at Bernie's.
- 23:23Speaker 6: And Bernie!
- 23:24Speaker 2: And then I'm scrolling down. I'm like, Bernie? Wait, isn't
- 23:26Speaker 2: Bernie dead?
- 23:27Speaker 6: Apparently not.
- 23:28Speaker 2: So then I was like, oh, no, wait, that's the
- 23:30Speaker 2: Hitman guy. That's also in Return of the Living Dead.
- 23:32Speaker 2: He died several years ago. But Bernie, not dead. He
- 23:35Speaker 2: was there. We saw him. He might have been propped
- 23:38Speaker 2: up dead.
- 23:38Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 23:39Speaker 2: But pretty sure he was sitting at a table.
- 23:41Speaker 6: I'm kind of surprised they didn't have him in between
- 23:42Speaker 6: the two guys. That would have been so much funner.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I should have just been holding him up the whole time.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And then he'd fall on his head on stuff every
- 23:49Speaker 2: once in a while to make a big clonking noise.
- 23:51Speaker 2: And it'd be hilarious.
- 23:52Speaker 6: It would have been.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Because I give that movie more credit than most people. Like, yes,
- 23:56Speaker 2: on surface, it's the dumbest thing ever. But there's, like,
- 24:00Speaker 2: a finesse to the way they handle it. Like, it's
- 24:03Speaker 2: the character building of those two dorks. And the just
- 24:06Speaker 2: general performances. And not all.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Not only that, but it also has like the hottest
- 24:12Speaker 2: girl around ever as the cute girl in the movie.
- 24:14Speaker 6: Who's that?
- 24:15Speaker 2: Who also showed up. I had no idea Catherine Marie
- 24:17Speaker 2: Stewart was supposed to be there. And she was there.
- 24:20Speaker 2: She must have snuck in at the last minute. But yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 2: she's the girl of the movie.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Oh, I haven't seen it.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I don't know. See, you should watch it. If for
- 24:26Speaker 2: no other reason, Catherine Marie Stewart is gorgeous as always.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Speaking of gorgeous and adorable, we did see Soleil Moonfry,
- 24:32Speaker 6: which I didn't know she was on there until like,
- 24:33Speaker 6: I don't know if it was yesterday. Yeah, it was yesterday.
- 24:35Speaker 6: So I was like, holy shit, Soleil Moonfry is going
- 24:37Speaker 6: to be there. And she was so tiny.
- 24:39Speaker 5: Okay.
- 24:39Speaker 6: Although, while she was wearing a NASCAR jacket.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I haven't quite figured it out. She was wearing a giant.
- 24:42Speaker 2: That's why I'm thinking maybe it wasn't hers. Because it
- 24:44Speaker 2: was really big.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Because I was looking around. I was looking at her table.
- 24:47Speaker 6: And I saw these girls. I'm like, that's not. I'm
- 24:49Speaker 6: pretty sure.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I don't know. You're not punky. You're not punky.
- 24:52Speaker 6: I haven't seen her for a while. Maybe that's what
- 24:53Speaker 6: she looks like now.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And then I look.
- 24:55Speaker 6: She's like standing in front of the table. Like interacting
- 24:57Speaker 6: with her people. And she was just like so cute.
- 24:59Speaker 6: It's a tiny and cute. And I was just like,
- 25:00Speaker 6: oh my god. It's punky. And then I was like.
- 25:03Speaker 6: I never watched Punky Burst again.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I told you I want to watch her movie because
- 25:08Speaker 2: she also was like early adopter of filming everything. So
- 25:12Speaker 2: I guess as old as that show was, she must
- 25:15Speaker 2: have been carrying around a giant ass full VHS camcorder
- 25:18Speaker 2: back in the day. But supposedly it was like shooting
- 25:21Speaker 2: stuff like on set and like shooting all the other
- 25:24Speaker 2: sets that are around her with all these other kids
- 25:25Speaker 2: that were making 80s sitcoms. And like she got all
- 25:28Speaker 2: this footage of people like back in the day and
- 25:30Speaker 2: then continued because she's just a dork. So as she
- 25:33Speaker 2: grew up, she bought new cameras, kept filming people. So
- 25:36Speaker 2: she put together this entire movie that's just clips of
- 25:39Speaker 2: the child stars. And then as it went along, like
- 25:42Speaker 2: originally it was just her filming her friends. And then
- 25:44Speaker 2: as she continued to get older, more and more of
- 25:46Speaker 2: her friends died. And she was like, oh.
- 25:48Speaker 6: So what you're saying is Punky's killing people.
- 25:51Speaker 2: That would also be kind of an awesome horror movie.
- 25:54Speaker 2: If we find out at the end, big reveal.
- 25:57Speaker 6: She's in it for the long game.
- 25:58Speaker 2: It's the punky Brewster murders. But yeah, so it becomes
- 26:03Speaker 2: more of a study on what it is to be
- 26:07Speaker 2: a child star and why it takes so much out
- 26:09Speaker 2: of many a kid.
- 26:11Speaker 6: That just sounds fucking depressing.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Probably is, which may be why I haven't gotten to
- 26:14Speaker 2: it yet. But I have considered it. It looked pretty
- 26:18Speaker 2: cool when I saw the clips from it, so. She's
- 26:20Speaker 2: also a director.
- 26:23Speaker 6: Crazy dog.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 26:25Speaker 6: Who else did we see as we walked around? We
- 26:26Speaker 6: saw Kevin Sorbo.
- 26:28Speaker 2: That guy.
- 26:29Speaker 6: He still looks pretty good. I mean, I don't know
- 26:31Speaker 6: how old he is, but however old he is, he
- 26:33Speaker 6: still looks pretty good. A whole lot of wrestlers. Lex
- 26:38Speaker 6: Luger was there, and that was when I'm like... Isn't
- 26:41Speaker 6: he dead? No, but I didn't see Sergeant Slaughter. I
- 26:44Speaker 6: thought I saw him on there.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he's usually... He seems like he's making the rounds
- 26:48Speaker 2: these days, so... I'm sure he was there somewhere. He
- 26:50Speaker 2: was just doing a photo op or something.
- 26:51Speaker 6: Lex Luger is one of those classic ones. I remember
- 26:55Speaker 6: Lex Luger from a long time ago. He's one of
- 26:58Speaker 6: those Sergeant Slaughter. That's about the only.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Era I know because I'm an old man. There's a
- 27:04Speaker 2: million waves of wrestlers that came out since then that
- 27:07Speaker 2: unless they were on a t-shirt that everybody wore, I
- 27:09Speaker 2: don't know who they are. Which brings us.
- 27:12Speaker 6: Back to Austin 316. That guy in the muscle suit.
- 27:17Speaker 6: He had an entire full body costume.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Who was dressed as him and yet he wasn't there.
- 27:22Speaker 2: So he was just like, there's a lot of other
- 27:24Speaker 2: wrestlers there. People will get it.
- 27:26Speaker 6: This is my chance.
- 27:27Speaker 2: This is my crowd. So yeah, he's just showing off
- 27:30Speaker 2: his cool muscle suit.
- 27:31Speaker 6: It didn't look bad.
- 27:33Speaker 2: It was fun.
- 27:33Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 27:35Speaker 2: And that's also the way. I don't want to be
- 27:37Speaker 2: walking around looking like that in my real world version.
- 27:40Speaker 2: But if I could cover it up, it feels like
- 27:42Speaker 2: you're just wearing clothes at that point. Yeah. Doesn't look
- 27:45Speaker 2: like it.
- 27:45Speaker 6: Where you can wear almost nothing and everything at the
- 27:47Speaker 6: same time.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Yeah. You're fully covered and yet looks like you're kind
- 27:50Speaker 2: of not. I like that. It's got a nice loophole
- 27:52Speaker 2: to it.
- 27:53Speaker 6: Who else did we see? There were several Twilight people there.
- 27:56Speaker 6: So I'm kind of surprised I didn't see more like...
- 27:58Speaker 6: I don't know if we did see anybody in Twilight.
- 28:01Speaker 6: How would we know if we saw anybody in Twilight?
- 28:03Speaker 6: Unless they were glittering.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Did you see them playing baseball? I mean, that's what
- 28:07Speaker 2: vampires do, you know.
- 28:08Speaker 6: There's no crying in baseball.
- 28:09Speaker 2: They play baseball. We did see a Rockford Peach and
- 28:12Speaker 2: her coach. But, uh.
- 28:14Speaker 6: Other than that, I'm surprised we didn't see anybody actually
- 28:16Speaker 6: dressed up as Twilight characters. Because there was like at least, what,
- 28:19Speaker 6: three or four Twilight characters there?
- 28:21Speaker 2: Yeah. They were tapping into that whole little sub-market. You'd
- 28:27Speaker 2: think it would be hitting a whole new wave now.
- 28:29Speaker 6: A lot of voice actors were there.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a whole lot of voice actors and
- 28:33Speaker 2: a whole lot of wrestlers. Some of which, I'm like,
- 28:35Speaker 2: I don't recognize any of these people. Oh wait, they're
- 28:37Speaker 2: voice actors. That's probably why.
- 28:38Speaker 6: The only voice actor that I was like, Hey, I
- 28:40Speaker 6: know who that guy is. It was Billy West was there.
- 28:42Speaker 6: And I was pretty excited about Billy West being there.
- 28:44Speaker 6: But then I didn't get his autograph. It was like
- 28:45Speaker 6: 50 bucks or something.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:48Speaker 6: I'm going to save all my monies to go visit
- 28:51Speaker 6: with fucking Val. What the fuck am I even talking about?
- 28:54Speaker 6: Fucking Gmork. Gmork.
- 28:56Speaker 2: That's the way to go. He's the coolest.
- 28:59Speaker 6: Fucking I do. Which I'm like, not even a tie-in.
- 29:02Speaker 6: There's nobody from Never Ending Story here.
- 29:06Speaker 2: I mean, but they couldn't really plan that. I mean,
- 29:08Speaker 2: think how long it took him to make that. Like,
- 29:10Speaker 2: they're touring around. They don't know who's going to be
- 29:13Speaker 2: in any.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Of these shows.
- 29:13Speaker 2: But they're like, look, I'm showing up with a Gmork,
- 29:15Speaker 2: and everybody's going to be thrilled. Well, maybe those two
- 29:18Speaker 2: people over there. But most of the other people will
- 29:20Speaker 2: be excited because Falkor's here.
- 29:21Speaker 6: Everybody was lined up for Falkor. I was like, uh, no.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I think you're the only one I saw over there
- 29:26Speaker 2: by the Gmork. I'm like, that's where I would be.
- 29:28Speaker 6: Well, that one person, well, she got the whole package.
- 29:30Speaker 6: So I think she got everybody.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yeah, she just touched all of them.
- 29:33Speaker 6: No, I mean, I had to go back for a
- 29:34Speaker 6: second round of Gormork.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Because he's that good. Fucking A.
- 29:38Speaker 4: So cool.
- 29:39Speaker 6: I mean, they had a hell of a lineup this year.
- 29:42Speaker 6: I mean, David Boreanaz was there. Shatner was there. Supposedly.
- 29:47Speaker 2: I didn't see these people. Yeah, they were all touring around.
- 29:49Speaker 6: Felicia Day. Felicia Day was there.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Felicia Day is super cool. She's like queen of the nerds.
- 29:55Speaker 6: Who else was a big person? I mean, aside from
- 29:57Speaker 6: Funky Brewster. Alex Winter was there.
- 30:02Speaker 2: He's adorable.
- 30:03Speaker 6: Look at him.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Who doesn't love Alex Winter? I don't know.
- 30:07Speaker 6: Not going to be at Scarefest, though.
- 30:10Speaker 2: With, what's that guy's name? Yeah, exactly.
- 30:14Speaker 6: Which I'm still mind-blown. Because apparently we all found this
- 30:17Speaker 6: out recently in different ways. That Jason Patrick is the
- 30:21Speaker 6: great-grandchild of fucking Jackie Gleason?
- 30:23Speaker 4: Yeah, which I.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I didn't know up until recently. I brought it up
- 30:28Speaker 2: on the show in the last year, year and a half.
- 30:30Speaker 6: Well, you know I don't listen, so I didn't hear
- 30:32Speaker 6: it from you.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Well, no, I'm not talking about you. I'm just talking
- 30:34Speaker 2: about my discovery of it. We were watching the Alice,
- 30:38Speaker 2: Sweet Alice. And the mom, his mom, is in that movie.
- 30:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 2: And then they're like, oh, and her dad is Jackie Gleason.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I was like, wait. And then later they're like, oh,
- 30:47Speaker 2: and by the way, her son's Jason Patrick. And I'm like, wait.
- 30:51Speaker 2: So you're saying, let me do the math here.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Hold on.
- 30:54Speaker 2: My brain don't work too good. So Jason Patrick is
- 30:57Speaker 2: related to Jackie Gleason?
- 30:58Speaker 6: Like directly. Directly.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Not even like second cousins or nothing.
- 31:03Speaker 6: Not even by like marriage. It's just like directly.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Direct bloodline to Jason Patrick. And that's why he's a vampire.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Oh wait, no.
- 31:10Speaker 6: Jackie Gleason's a vampire?
- 31:11Speaker 2: I think that's what it is. And you have to
- 31:13Speaker 2: take out Jackie Gleason to kill the whole rest of
- 31:15Speaker 2: the clan.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Oh.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I think that's how it works.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Bang zoom.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Biggity bam. I got a free phone holder. I was
- 31:23Speaker 6: like the little phone stand. I was pretty excited about that.
- 31:25Speaker 2: I don't even know for sure if I have a
- 31:26Speaker 2: use for it, but I got one anyway.
- 31:27Speaker 6: You can put your phone on it.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I have a dinosaur that holds my phone. I'm that cool.
- 31:33Speaker 6: I got a baby Yoda that holds my phone when
- 31:35Speaker 6: I'm in the bedroom.
- 31:36Speaker 3: That's pretty cool.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:38Speaker 6: What else did we do? I ate a snack. I
- 31:41Speaker 6: was pretty excited about that.
- 31:42Speaker 2: We saw a parade of Boba Fetts.
- 31:44Speaker 6: Walking the wrong fucking way.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Walking the wrong direction. On the wrong side of the road.
- 31:50Speaker 6: There are fucking arrows there for a reason, people.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but they can't see them in those giant helmets.
- 31:54Speaker 6: They were going against the traffic.
- 31:56Speaker 2: They need a leader of their little club.
- 31:58Speaker 6: I'm surprised they were not, like, reprimanded by one of
- 32:01Speaker 6: the many volunteers that were there on staff.
- 32:02Speaker 2: They need a baby Yoda at the front going, no, no, no, no, guys. Hey, hey, hey, look,
- 32:05Speaker 2: this is the direction. This is the way. I was waiting. Again,
- 32:10Speaker 2: my brain don't work that good. It took a minute.
- 32:12Speaker 6: I bought stuff. Bought some earrings that I may or
- 32:15Speaker 6: may not be able to wear.
- 32:15Speaker 4: I mean.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I went shopping for the main thing I do everywhere
- 32:19Speaker 2: I go, which is just looking for Legos.
- 32:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Creating my bastardized Lego world that I may or may
- 32:26Speaker 2: not be able to use some of these pieces for,
- 32:27Speaker 2: but I'll find out.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Cool beans.
- 32:31Speaker 6: Are we talking about stuff we've watched lately?
- 32:34Speaker 2: I mean, I guess if we want to straddle from
- 32:36Speaker 2: one to the other, I have a thing, because again,
- 32:40Speaker 2: as if anyone pays attention knows, while we do this convention,
- 32:44Speaker 2: we also then go shopping for stuff. So I did
- 32:46Speaker 2: get a thing while I was in there that has
- 32:49Speaker 2: a tie-in to a previous convention. So we can put
- 32:53Speaker 2: these two things together. I bought this Blu-ray right here,
- 32:59Speaker 2: entitled Smoke and Mirrors, the story of the man who
- 33:03Speaker 2: owes me two dollars. It is the story of Tom Savini,
- 33:12Speaker 2: which old-timey listeners might know. He still owes Jay money.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I think it's changed two and three dollars over the years.
- 33:19Speaker 4: I can't remember. It's either two or three dollars.
- 33:21Speaker 2: The truth has never changed, which is Tom Savini owes
- 33:24Speaker 2: him money.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:26Speaker 2: That was like a long time ago. That was a
- 33:29Speaker 2: long time ago. I was trying to think. I was like,
- 33:32Speaker 2: that was a long time ago. But I saw it
- 33:34Speaker 2: in there and I'm like, yeah, I know he's kind
- 33:36Speaker 2: of a weirdo these days at the old conventions, but
- 33:39Speaker 2: I'm going to want to watch this footage of him
- 33:40Speaker 2: doing makeup 40 years ago. It's going to be bad ass.
- 33:44Speaker 2: So for those reasons, I got this Blu-ray. But, yeah,
- 33:48Speaker 2: I just thought it was funny. I was like, hey,
- 33:49Speaker 2: we've got a convention tie-in to that guy. That dude
- 33:53Speaker 2: owes me money. So if you weren't listening 100 years ago,
- 33:58Speaker 2: he sort of scammed Jay on his change.
- 34:00Speaker 4: He didn't really scam me. What happened was I think
- 34:04Speaker 4: he was distracted by a lot of people. And I
- 34:07Speaker 4: had bought a couple of his little fridge magnets because
- 34:10Speaker 4: he had some little cards there. I mean, you know,
- 34:15Speaker 4: it was Tom Savini back then. He wasn't swamped. It
- 34:19Speaker 4: was still, like, you could still come up to him
- 34:21Speaker 4: and talk to him and stuff like that.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I mean, if you're not a super geek, you don't
- 34:24Speaker 2: know what the name Tom Savini means. Like, if you are, like,
- 34:27Speaker 2: it's the biggest thing in the world. But, like, if
- 34:28Speaker 2: you're a regular-ass person, like, who's that guy?
- 34:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Why is he wearing black leather like he thinks he's cool?
- 34:35Speaker 4: So he had some magnets. He had, like, a Rawhead
- 34:41Speaker 4: Rex magnet and then a magnet. of him with the
- 34:47Speaker 4: penis gun from Dust Till Dawn. And so I think
- 34:51Speaker 4: I bought both of those and I got an autographed
- 34:54Speaker 4: picture and then he was supposed to give me a
- 34:59Speaker 4: $ 5 bill in exchange, but I think he ended up
- 35:03Speaker 4: giving me like $ 3 instead of a $ 5. And I
- 35:09Speaker 4: was going to say something, but then he got kind
- 35:12Speaker 4: of swamped by people at his booth.
- 35:15Speaker 2: And or a pretty girl walked by and he's like, hey, baby,
- 35:17Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 35:18Speaker 4: Yeah, either one of those.
- 35:21Speaker 6: But now you have the story.
- 35:22Speaker 4: But yeah, I was like, I'm not going to bug
- 35:25Speaker 4: him about it because it's kind of funny.
- 35:27Speaker 2: And now every time we see him, he can be like,
- 35:28Speaker 2: you owe me $ 2!
- 35:29Speaker 4: You owe me $ 2! Where's my $ 2?
- 35:30Speaker 1: Good times.
- 35:31Speaker 4: Yep, it's worth that $ 2 for the story, if.
- 35:35Speaker 6: Nothing else.
- 35:40Speaker 2: I just remember hanging out at one of those shows,
- 35:42Speaker 2: and the main thing I remember about him and his
- 35:44Speaker 2: table was he was usually not paying attention to what
- 35:47Speaker 2: was going on at his table, and he was always
- 35:48Speaker 2: messing with the people at the other tables around him.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 2: So there was one of those years that they got
- 35:53Speaker 2: into a rubber band fight. So the entire weekend long,
- 35:58Speaker 2: while people were trying to get him to sign stuff,
- 36:00Speaker 2: he was over at the end of the table firing
- 36:02Speaker 2: rubber bands at the people across from him. So again, 12-year-olds.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Like eternally 12-year-olds. Which I guess I appreciate to some extent.
- 36:11Speaker 2: But yeah, that's what I remember back in those days
- 36:13Speaker 2: was he was just busy being distracted and messing with
- 36:16Speaker 2: the other tables around him. So, there's a thing I'm
- 36:19Speaker 2: gonna watch, but we can discuss things you have watched.
- 36:23Speaker 6: We can talk about how we have tried once again
- 36:26Speaker 6: to get through the entirety of Twin Peaks. Because I
- 36:31Speaker 6: tell you, and I stand by it, the first almost
- 36:34Speaker 6: season and a half, best fucking TV in history.
- 36:37Speaker 4: It's awesome.
- 36:38Speaker 6: Then once you find out, spoiler alert, who killed Laura Palmer.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it's kind of hard to recover from that. Like,
- 36:45Speaker 2: the whole show's built around that.
- 36:47Speaker 4: At that point, you know, girlfriend's like, we need to
- 36:50Speaker 4: finish up watching Twin Peaks. And I'm like, uh, I
- 36:53Speaker 4: gotta load the dishwasher.
- 36:57Speaker 2: It's pretty bad when you're choosing dishes over anything, really.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 2: That says a lot about what it is.
- 37:02Speaker 6: I mean, we've got a couple episodes passed.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Yeah, but it just... I just don't care now.
- 37:08Speaker 2: I always cite the side adventures of James as the
- 37:11Speaker 2: main reason it takes to plummet.
- 37:14Speaker 6: Because he's already met the lady. He's already met the
- 37:17Speaker 6: lady and is going to work on her car.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:20Speaker 2: It's such a... I'm just like, I so don't care
- 37:22Speaker 2: about the side adventure. Please go back to Leland. I
- 37:25Speaker 2: always want to see Leland. Please go back.
- 37:27Speaker 6: I could fucking listen to Ray Wise singing Mersey Dotes
- 37:32Speaker 6: and Dozy Dotes and Little Lamsay Divey. I could listen
- 37:34Speaker 6: to that all goddamn day.
- 37:35Speaker 2: He's the reason to watch the whole damn season.
- 37:38Speaker 6: He also is magnificent.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Well, and there is a way to continue the story
- 37:43Speaker 2: after knowing that because Fire Walk With Me is badass.
- 37:46Speaker 4: It is harsh.
- 37:47Speaker 2: It is a rough movie.
- 37:48Speaker 6: That's why I wanted to finish the first season or
- 37:51Speaker 6: the first two seasons Because I still haven't watched the
- 37:53Speaker 6: third season.
- 37:54Speaker 2: That's what I was going to ask. Where do you
- 37:55Speaker 2: stand on the return? I haven't watched it yet. Again,
- 37:58Speaker 2: I think it was when they were doing a free
- 38:00Speaker 2: trial or something. And I started and got only a
- 38:03Speaker 2: couple episodes in. I was like, this is amazing. It's Lynch.
- 38:07Speaker 2: It is all kinds of Lynch. And I kind of
- 38:09Speaker 2: appreciate that for anything he does. Even when it's weird stuff.
- 38:14Speaker 2: He's so distinctive. It's amazing. So, yeah, I got a
- 38:19Speaker 2: couple episodes in and wanted to continue. And I think
- 38:21Speaker 2: then it was gone. And at the time, I couldn't
- 38:23Speaker 2: even afford to sign up for the rest of it. So,
- 38:25Speaker 2: I'm still working on the return.
- 38:27Speaker 6: I have it.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I just have it.
- 38:29Speaker 6: I said, I'm like, that's why we have to finish
- 38:31Speaker 6: watching the second season. And we're, because I look, I'm like,
- 38:34Speaker 6: how many fucking episodes are there? Because, I mean, the
- 38:36Speaker 6: first season wasn't that long. Holy shit. We still got
- 38:38Speaker 6: like 11 episodes.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 6: So, I can't even fully say that it's the first
- 38:43Speaker 6: season and a half. It's the first season and like
- 38:45Speaker 6: seven or eight episodes.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 6: Because there's like 20-something episodes, I think, of season two.
- 38:49Speaker 2: I mean, that's a long time ago. Like, back in
- 38:51Speaker 2: the day, when they made network series, like, you got
- 38:54Speaker 2: a lot of episodes in a season.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Because season one wasn't that long. Season one, fucking phenomenal.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Versus now, like, even network shows, you might get 12. Like,
- 39:02Speaker 2: it's still nothing compared to what it used to be. Buffy.
- 39:05Speaker 4: Buffy. Exactly.
- 39:07Speaker 2: It's like a whole, like, just set aside a good
- 39:10Speaker 2: portion of your life like you want to go through
- 39:12Speaker 2: the whole series which.
- 39:13Speaker 6: Should we mention the sadness it is dawn passing yeah i.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Was again i i i don't even know what led
- 39:19Speaker 2: me to her but i'd been following her on instagram
- 39:22Speaker 2: for years now Her ribs. I don't know. It probably was.
- 39:26Speaker 2: But she was super cute. And I was always down
- 39:29Speaker 2: with her. And I just liked her character. Some people
- 39:32Speaker 2: at the time were a little weirded out by her
- 39:34Speaker 2: showing up. I liked how much she came out of nowhere.
- 39:38Speaker 2: But eventually she was, and pretty quickly, she became part
- 39:41Speaker 2: of the crew. And I just kind of, I don't know.
- 39:43Speaker 2: I liked her back then.
- 39:44Speaker 6: And as annoying as she was, still not the worst
- 39:46Speaker 6: character on the show.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I think everyone's come to that conclusion as they
- 39:50Speaker 2: rewatch now. They're like, I thought I liked this person,
- 39:53Speaker 2: but maybe not.
- 39:53Speaker 6: Who are you talking about? Who do you not like
- 39:55Speaker 6: in the long run?
- 39:55Speaker 2: I thought everybody came around on not liking Xander.
- 39:58Speaker 6: Oh, fuck Xander. See, that's exactly why I can no longer.
- 40:00Speaker 6: I probably was like, oh, I could go back and
- 40:02Speaker 6: rewatch Buffy. And then I'm like, oh, no, Xander's still
- 40:03Speaker 6: going to be there. And I fucking hate him.
- 40:07Speaker 2: But I don't remember hating him at the time. That's
- 40:09Speaker 2: why I think it's like a weird distance thing.
- 40:11Speaker 6: Well, that I think is long.
- 40:12Speaker 4: The more.
- 40:13Speaker 6: Like, later in the series, he got worse and worse
- 40:15Speaker 6: and worse. Like, unredeemably worse.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 6: To the point where you're like, well, I can't see
- 40:19Speaker 6: him now without knowing how much of an asshole he became.
- 40:21Speaker 4: How much of a hypocrite. You know?
- 40:23Speaker 6: So, it's like, oh, it's okay for you to hook
- 40:25Speaker 6: up with a former demon, but God forbid Buffy hook
- 40:27Speaker 6: up with Spike. So, you know what? Go fuck yourself.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 6: He was so fucking self-righteous about everything.
- 40:34Speaker 2: And he was just whiny because he didn't have powers.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Where every one of his friends had powers.
- 40:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Which did lead to a nice little speech at the
- 40:40Speaker 2: end of the run. But I'm like, hmm.
- 40:42Speaker 6: He didn't have power and he didn't have Buffy.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Sucks for you.
- 40:44Speaker 4: So you know what?
- 40:45Speaker 6: He was such a bitch.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Yeah. And that was okay with him getting his eye
- 40:51Speaker 4: gouged out.
- 40:53Speaker 2: I mean, anybody.
- 40:54Speaker 4: That was right, right? Yes, sir.
- 40:56Speaker 6: Yes, sir.
- 40:56Speaker 4: By the end of that last season. What's his name?
- 40:59Speaker 4: Gouge his eye out?
- 41:02Speaker 2: Was it Caleb?
- 41:03Speaker 4: The rookie?
- 41:05Speaker 6: Nathan Fillion?
- 41:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the rookie.
- 41:07Speaker 4: But his name in the thing was Caleb, wasn't it?
- 41:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a priest or something.
- 41:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been fucking forever since I've seen him.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Some sort of religious dude.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Yeah, he was a priest.
- 41:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 4: Well, he was dressed as a priest. I don't think
- 41:20Speaker 4: he was a priest.
- 41:22Speaker 6: Anyways, yeah, fuck Xander.
- 41:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 6: He's the worst. And he is the reason I can't
- 41:26Speaker 6: enjoy Buffy any longer. like i can't say and then
- 41:29Speaker 6: i never even finished watching angels i have no idea
- 41:32Speaker 6: how that ended.
- 41:32Speaker 2: I i do and it's well again it used to
- 41:36Speaker 2: be something we gave credit to joss for was writing
- 41:38Speaker 2: some hardcore stuff now we're like oh it's just because
- 41:41Speaker 2: that guy's a bastard like once again that's would be
- 41:44Speaker 2: make things weird going back to try to re-watch either
- 41:47Speaker 2: of those series now because at the time he was
- 41:50Speaker 2: a beloved oh look the king of the geeks he
- 41:52Speaker 2: makes these things and he writes these great things and
- 41:55Speaker 2: As time's gone on, now we're like, oh no, everybody
- 41:58Speaker 2: hated working with him. That guy's an asshole. I will
- 42:03Speaker 2: try to appreciate the shows for the sake of the
- 42:05Speaker 2: shows and the performances. But yeah, now knowing what I
- 42:08Speaker 2: know about him, I'm just like, that's a weird issue too.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Don't be an asshole to people.
- 42:14Speaker 6: Too late. What else did we watch?
- 42:17Speaker 2: I forgot, but as we're... while we're still kind of
- 42:20Speaker 2: coming off of the twin peaks thing I did right
- 42:22Speaker 2: after it happened, I ran across a copy of the
- 42:25Speaker 2: lost highway.
- 42:27Speaker 6: I haven't seen that before.
- 42:28Speaker 2: I haven't seen. And that's the thing. It's like, I
- 42:30Speaker 2: saw it in the theater. I saw it. I feel
- 42:32Speaker 2: like once at least after that, but I have not
- 42:34Speaker 2: seen it since. And I remember thinking it was awesome,
- 42:37Speaker 2: but like I went back and rewatched it and it
- 42:39Speaker 2: is a lot like it's so linchy as we know.
- 42:43Speaker 2: But the thing that I was so impressed with that first,
- 42:47Speaker 2: like 20 minutes or so, Is just kind of them
- 42:50Speaker 2: in their house. And the visuals are so amazing. Like
- 42:54Speaker 2: it's just that. Like the color scheme in their home.
- 42:58Speaker 2: It's like this. Weird color scheme. And like the shots
- 43:01Speaker 2: just sort of hang. And I'm like it's all Lynch.
- 43:05Speaker 2: It's like such a weird Lynch thing.
- 43:07Speaker 4: That I'm like nobody.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Nothing's going on now. It's two people standing in a
- 43:10Speaker 2: living room. Talking to some cops. And yet it looks
- 43:14Speaker 2: so overwhelmingly weird. And Lynch like. And I'm just like. Yeah,
- 43:19Speaker 2: I watched that and was like, he was a hell
- 43:21Speaker 2: of a director. Like, you can not like his stuff,
- 43:23Speaker 2: which a lot of people were weirded out by his stuff,
- 43:25Speaker 2: but I'm like, you can't question his.
- 43:27Speaker 4: Visuals, man.
- 43:28Speaker 6: He can make some weird shit.
- 43:29Speaker 2: He can make some weird shit. I appreciate it more
- 43:32Speaker 2: than most people, but I'm like, you can't argue with
- 43:34Speaker 2: his visuals. Like, you can bring up scenes from everything
- 43:37Speaker 2: he did and just be floored. Like, it is just
- 43:40Speaker 2: so impressively put together. So, yeah, regardless of whether you
- 43:44Speaker 2: like him, like him, like, he was talented. He was
- 43:47Speaker 2: so talented. And I also forgot, it's just the Patricia
- 43:52Speaker 2: Arquette show. Like, if you even kind of thought you
- 43:55Speaker 2: liked Patricia Arquette, this is your movie. Because, like, I
- 43:58Speaker 2: forgot how much of it is like, whoa, okay, he's
- 44:01Speaker 2: just showcasing how hot Patricia is. Oh, and now she's
- 44:03Speaker 2: wearing a different look. So you get her in two modes, too.
- 44:06Speaker 2: She's got different colored hair. She's got different outfits. It's
- 44:10Speaker 2: the Patricia Arquette show. And she's freaking good. Like, again,
- 44:14Speaker 2: she nails it. Like, And it led me to my
- 44:17Speaker 2: other question. What happened about Lazar Getty?
- 44:22Speaker 6: His family's fucking weird.
- 44:23Speaker 2: He was a cute kid and he was poised to
- 44:25Speaker 2: be the next big thing. I mean, he's a young gun,
- 44:28Speaker 2: much like Lou Diamond Phillips we didn't see today. But
- 44:30Speaker 2: he was there.
- 44:31Speaker 6: I didn't even see his table.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Doing a photo op or something.
- 44:33Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 44:34Speaker 6: I didn't even see where he was supposed to be.
- 44:35Speaker 2: But yeah, he got brought into the young guns and
- 44:38Speaker 2: then he got to be in a Lynch movie. And
- 44:40Speaker 2: I'm like, he's just ready to take over. And then
- 44:42Speaker 2: what the hell happened? I really don't know.
- 44:45Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 44:46Speaker 6: I was surprised. I found out something about Twin Peaks
- 44:48Speaker 6: that I had not known before, which is just, it's
- 44:50Speaker 6: new to me, but I'm sure it's old to everybody else.
- 44:52Speaker 6: The Log Lady was married to Jack Nance. Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 2: I knew that at one point. Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 6: That's how she met David Lynch, I think. She was
- 45:01Speaker 6: working on something because she was married to Jack and
- 45:04Speaker 6: he brought her in and she was helping to do
- 45:05Speaker 6: like setting or something.
- 45:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 2: I think she was working like behind the scenes on Razorhead. Yeah.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Like that far back. She was part of his life
- 45:12Speaker 2: like because she was with Jack.
- 45:13Speaker 4: So, yeah.
- 45:15Speaker 2: It was quite a little.
- 45:17Speaker 6: Because he had such a sad fucking life, fucking Jack
- 45:20Speaker 6: Nance did.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Which he's the most lovable dude in the world.
- 45:23Speaker 6: He had a weird death.
- 45:24Speaker 2: It all sucks.
- 45:26Speaker 6: Was it his wife that killed herself while he was
- 45:28Speaker 6: talking to her on the phone or something?
- 45:31Speaker 2: Plus there was a fish on the percolator.
- 45:33Speaker 4: I know.
- 45:33Speaker 2: He had a rough run, man.
- 45:34Speaker 6: I know, man.
- 45:35Speaker 2: I like Jack.
- 45:37Speaker 4: I miss that dude.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:40Speaker 6: But yeah, now we just... I mean, we literally started watching...
- 45:45Speaker 6: Twin Peaks, like right after David Lynch died.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:48Speaker 6: And we watched a good, like, you know, we were
- 45:50Speaker 6: watching it usually on Fridays once we got past the good,
- 45:53Speaker 6: you know, How long has it been? We haven't picked
- 45:57Speaker 6: it up in, like, a month now. Because, like I said,
- 46:00Speaker 6: once you hit that bump, it's so fucking.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Hard to get a shit. Well, I mean, that's also
- 46:04Speaker 2: the jump the shark. Like, that scene, where we find out,
- 46:07Speaker 2: is so amazing. Like, to this day, I can think
- 46:10Speaker 2: about it and get goosebumps. Like, it is so... Like,
- 46:13Speaker 2: the way that it's put together is amazing.
- 46:15Speaker 4: And just.
- 46:16Speaker 6: Well, the scene with Maddie. You're just like... fuck did
- 46:20Speaker 6: I just... It is so good. This was on fucking television.
- 46:23Speaker 4: I know.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Like the fact that they let Lynch make crazy shit
- 46:26Speaker 2: and then put it on network television. Not even cable.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Not pay television. Network television. Because I watched it that way.
- 46:34Speaker 2: The original run.
- 46:35Speaker 6: Any of the scenes in the fucking train.
- 46:37Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 46:37Speaker 2: The train is disturbing.
- 46:39Speaker 6: The scenes of Laura in the train. I'm like, this
- 46:42Speaker 6: was on fucking television. Regular people could watch this.
- 46:49Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? And they did.
- 46:50Speaker 2: That's the weird thing. Like, it took off. Like, even
- 46:53Speaker 2: regular boring-ass people were so taken with Twin Peaks.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I mean, can you imagine?
- 46:56Speaker 2: In that first season.
- 46:57Speaker 6: Can you imagine just flipping through the channels, and that's
- 46:59Speaker 6: what you fucking see? You're like, huh? Fucking Laura in
- 47:02Speaker 6: the train.
- 47:03Speaker 4: No!
- 47:03Speaker 2: You're watching, uh, what's MacGyver's on this channel?
- 47:07Speaker 6: It's flipping through.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Look, here's some Mott Scott reruns. Holy shit!
- 47:10Speaker 4: Oh, look, what's going on? Oh, look, oh!
- 47:12Speaker 6: Like, the scene with fucking Maddie is, like, fucking heartbreaking.
- 47:16Speaker 6: It's just so terrifying.
- 47:19Speaker 2: But then, again, the Leland scene, like, that performance, like,
- 47:23Speaker 2: if you ever, like, he's phenomenal from frame one on
- 47:26Speaker 2: that show, but if you doubt anything, you watch that scene,
- 47:29Speaker 2: you're like, oh my god, like, he is so good.
- 47:35Speaker 6: I just, I still have the question of when exactly
- 47:39Speaker 6: did he realize, when exactly did Lynch decide?
- 47:43Speaker 2: Decide, yeah. How much did he have mapped out beforehand?
- 47:47Speaker 2: I mean, you never really know with any Lynch movie.
- 47:49Speaker 6: Because I know we heard Ray Wise talking about when
- 47:52Speaker 6: he found out.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Yeah, because he's doing the performance and doesn't know, which
- 47:57Speaker 2: is weird.
- 47:57Speaker 6: Well, that and because Bob wasn't originally in the whole
- 48:00Speaker 6: fucking thing. How, when exactly? Because, I mean, because fucking
- 48:05Speaker 6: Frank Zilva was accidentally in a shot. He's like, oh,
- 48:08Speaker 6: you know what? Let's just work this in.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what's weird. That guy's not even an actor.
- 48:13Speaker 6: He worked on the crew. He was an actor, sort of.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Kind of, but that's not what he was there to do.
- 48:20Speaker 6: But the fact that he became Bob, and Bob's still
- 48:22Speaker 6: one of the most, to me, one of the most
- 48:25Speaker 6: terrifying villains.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Bob coming over the couch is disturbing. That it will
- 48:29Speaker 2: haunt your nightmares for the rest of your life.
- 48:32Speaker 6: Dude, seriously.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Yeah, no joke, man. It's crazy.
- 48:35Speaker 6: Fucking terrifying.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 48:39Speaker 6: Talking about the Gmork and... Fucking Bob.
- 48:43Speaker 2: You won't survive an outing on one of these. You
- 48:46Speaker 2: run into either of those, too. That's the end of
- 48:48Speaker 2: days for you.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Legit.
- 48:50Speaker 6: But, yeah, I was just... But it's like, when exactly
- 48:54Speaker 6: did David Lynch decide, you know what? Bob is Leland. Spoilers.
- 49:01Speaker 2: It's been a while. I hope by now you know. Oh,
- 49:03Speaker 2: by the way, and spoilers, someone kills Laura Palmer.
- 49:06Speaker 6: Dude, that girl's probably still pissed at me.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:10Speaker 6: When I was in high school, I saw a girl
- 49:11Speaker 6: and she was reading the diary of Laura Palmore. I'm like, oh,
- 49:14Speaker 6: does it talk about who killed her?
- 49:15Speaker 4: And she's like, what?
- 49:17Speaker 6: And she was legitimately mad at me.
- 49:20Speaker 2: So she just picked up a book that she found
- 49:22Speaker 2: and had no idea?
- 49:23Speaker 6: I guess. Literally, that's the first fucking ten minutes.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the opening of the first episode. That is
- 49:32Speaker 2: how the show is a show.
- 49:34Speaker 6: I mean, you got him getting his shit together before
- 49:36Speaker 6: he goes down to there. So you have a few
- 49:37Speaker 6: minutes of build up. But that's the entire fucking premise.
- 49:41Speaker 6: That was their fucking tagline is, who killed Laura Palmer?
- 49:44Speaker 6: And the fact that you don't know that going into it.
- 49:47Speaker 6: Now I'm shaking the car like Brian does because I'm.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Getting so worked up about it.
- 49:49Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Sometimes you got to get worked up about these things.
- 49:51Speaker 6: You're worked up all the time. Calm down. I need
- 49:53Speaker 6: to calm down. Take a deep breath. Getting the windows
- 49:55Speaker 6: all fogged up in the car. But the fact that
- 49:58Speaker 6: she didn't know and she legitimately got mad, she's like, well,
- 50:00Speaker 6: thanks for ruining it for me. I'm like, are you
- 50:02Speaker 6: fucking serious?
- 50:03Speaker 4: You're like, oh, guess who killed her?
- 50:05Speaker 2: You should have just nailed in that coffin. And I
- 50:08Speaker 2: can name this. And then guess what else they do?
- 50:11Speaker 6: I mean, this would have been in probably 97. So
- 50:13Speaker 6: you know what? The show had been out several years already.
- 50:15Speaker 6: But still, that was the, I didn't ask her if
- 50:17Speaker 6: it said, oh, her dad killed her. I didn't tell her.
- 50:21Speaker 6: I just asked, does it talk about, does it give
- 50:23Speaker 6: hints as to who killed her?
- 50:24Speaker 4: You didn't go, oh, she was in the barn. Well,
- 50:27Speaker 4: that's the thing. That was hilarious.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Well, they took like a little while to get that
- 50:33Speaker 2: stuff out too. So like, it wasn't like a, they
- 50:37Speaker 2: put the merchandise out first. So she was right on the,
- 50:40Speaker 2: on the cusp of it. Like this was, even if
- 50:43Speaker 2: you were watching it the first run, it took them
- 50:45Speaker 2: a while to put out that diary and the official
- 50:48Speaker 2: guide to Twin Peaks.
- 50:49Speaker 6: Well, what year did Twin Peaks start? Like, what did
- 50:51Speaker 6: we say? Um, 89, 90? Something like that.
- 50:54Speaker 4: Something like that. Yeah.
- 50:56Speaker 6: This was like at least 96.
- 50:57Speaker 4: I remember I was in high school when, when it
- 51:00Speaker 4: was on because I remember everybody in high school was
- 51:02Speaker 4: watching it except for me. And, uh, Everybody was like,
- 51:07Speaker 4: they were telling me about it. They were like, oh,
- 51:09Speaker 4: it's so awesome. But I was just like, you know what?
- 51:12Speaker 4: I don't care. Because the show that I watched was
- 51:15Speaker 4: like Tour of Duty. So that was. You were too.
- 51:17Speaker 6: Busy watching Airwolf.
- 51:18Speaker 4: I was too busy watching Airwolf and Tour of Duty
- 51:20Speaker 4: and stuff like that. So I didn't care because I
- 51:23Speaker 4: was like. Blue Thunder. This doesn't have like robots or,
- 51:27Speaker 4: you know, like commandos blowing shit up. Or ninjas. I
- 51:31Speaker 4: don't give a shit.
- 51:33Speaker 2: I mean, some of those might have been ninjas.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know. You know, I really wasn't into
- 51:39Speaker 4: horror or even stuff like this back in the day.
- 51:45Speaker 4: I was mainly action movies.
- 51:47Speaker 2: You have found your way.
- 51:49Speaker 4: Well, I didn't get into that stuff until maybe my
- 51:55Speaker 4: second or third job. I had a friend. Well, we
- 52:01Speaker 4: weren't friends at the time, but I met a guy
- 52:02Speaker 4: that I worked with, and we both had an interest
- 52:04Speaker 4: in martial arts. And, uh, we went to train together
- 52:09Speaker 4: and then cause we worked third shift and we were
- 52:12Speaker 4: out in the middle of nowhere. There wasn't really much
- 52:14Speaker 4: to do. You know, when you got off work, you
- 52:17Speaker 4: just went home, went to sleep. So what we started
- 52:19Speaker 4: doing was he was really into like, uh, horror movies. And, uh,
- 52:26Speaker 4: I wasn't, you know, I just, you know, he was like,
- 52:28Speaker 4: you watch horror movies. I was like, no, not really.
- 52:30Speaker 4: I mean, I've seen a few, but it's not really
- 52:34Speaker 4: anything big that I, really care about. And then he
- 52:36Speaker 4: was like, Oh, have you seen Hellraiser? And I was like, no,
- 52:38Speaker 4: I've never seen Hellraiser. So we watched Hellraiser. And then,
- 52:42Speaker 4: then he introduced me to phantasm and stuff like that.
- 52:45Speaker 4: So it just became this thing where like, uh, it
- 52:49Speaker 4: was almost like every day. It seemed like when I
- 52:52Speaker 4: got off work or when we got off work, we
- 52:54Speaker 4: would go down to the corner, uh, market, which where
- 52:58Speaker 4: we live, there were no video stores, like absolutely no blockbusters, no, nothing.
- 53:06Speaker 2: So it's come full circle. Now it's like that anyway.
- 53:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:08Speaker 2: But at the time, if you lived in like a
- 53:10Speaker 2: regular city, there were blockbusters and mom and pop shops everywhere.
- 53:14Speaker 4: But if you lived in the rural areas, you had
- 53:16Speaker 4: to rely on your little gas station food marts.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Yeah, your quickie marts were all you had.
- 53:21Speaker 4: And they usually had like one wall in the corner
- 53:24Speaker 4: or the back of the store. And there was like maybe...
- 53:28Speaker 4: Maybe 40 VHS tapes. Maybe 20 betas. Mm-hmm. You know?
- 53:34Speaker 4: And you had to hope, like, on a Friday, that
- 53:39Speaker 4: somebody didn't rent out the movie you wanted to see.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Man, I hope American Ninja's there.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. Otherwise, you're stuck watching The Heavenly Kid again.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Oh, Heavenly Kid.
- 53:50Speaker 4: For the, damn it, I want to watch something, but,
- 53:53Speaker 4: you know.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Dad, I'm watching Flamingo Kid. All I get are these kids.
- 53:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know. You're renting Mac and Me again
- 54:00Speaker 4: for the fifth time.
- 54:01Speaker 6: Mac and Me was a fucking classic.
- 54:05Speaker 2: When you can't afford E.T., you get Mac and Me.
- 54:07Speaker 6: He's the Teemu E.T., but I still love him.
- 54:10Speaker 4: Teemu E.T.
- 54:13Speaker 2: He definitely is. Let's be real.
- 54:15Speaker 4: Oh, man. But yeah, that's just kind of how... That
- 54:18Speaker 4: was my introduction to.
- 54:20Speaker 6: And then you got me.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Main introduction to horror movies.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Now it's beating you over the head every chance it gets.
- 54:26Speaker 4: Well, you know, I mean... I watched a little bit
- 54:30Speaker 4: and never got really super into it. And still to
- 54:37Speaker 4: this day, I'm not a huge horror fan. I do
- 54:40Speaker 4: like horror movies, but....
- 54:43Speaker 6: There is nothing quite as awesome as late night watching
- 54:46Speaker 6: a cheesy 80s slasher movie.
- 54:49Speaker 4: Yeah, now cheesy 80s slasher I love. Like, I can
- 54:52Speaker 4: get into that shit. Yeah. I don't know what it is,
- 54:55Speaker 4: but I love cheesy 80s slasher movies.
- 54:57Speaker 2: They are their own vibe.
- 54:59Speaker 4: They have their own vibe, and those things are okay.
- 55:01Speaker 4: But some of the real serious horror movies, I'm just
- 55:05Speaker 4: kind of like, you know.
- 55:07Speaker 2: But I think you know more than most people by proxy.
- 55:11Speaker 2: You're surrounded by it between being around her all day,
- 55:15Speaker 2: and then you do nothing but hang out and go
- 55:16Speaker 2: to conventions with us for years and years. Yeah. You've
- 55:19Speaker 2: been immersed in it so much, I think you know
- 55:21Speaker 2: way more about horror than most people that, like, have
- 55:24Speaker 2: probably seen every stupid horror movie.
- 55:26Speaker 6: But now I'm curious as to what serious horror movies. Like,
- 55:28Speaker 6: what are you talking about?
- 55:29Speaker 4: Like, what are you.
- 55:29Speaker 6: Give an example.
- 55:31Speaker 4: Serious horror movies? I don't know. You know, like... I
- 55:34Speaker 4: don't know. I just can't think of anything off the
- 55:37Speaker 4: top of my head. I mean, like, supernatural stuff's fine,
- 55:42Speaker 4: but if it's got, like, a person that's a killer...
- 55:45Speaker 4: Then I'm just like, I just don't give a shit.
- 55:47Speaker 4: You know, I really don't.
- 55:49Speaker 6: Unless it's a guy with like a guitar that he
- 55:50Speaker 6: kills people with or a giant drill.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Again, that's cheesy 80s.
- 55:55Speaker 4: I'm talking about anything that's like serious, like, you know,
- 56:02Speaker 4: like serious horror where they're like, oh, but this is
- 56:05Speaker 4: the guy. He's a guy. You know, I'm just like.
- 56:07Speaker 2: So like the most mainstream for most people is like
- 56:10Speaker 2: Silence of the Lambs.
- 56:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:11Speaker 2: That's still like crossing over. I mean, it's fun.
- 56:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:16Speaker 2: It's very fun, but it also, it takes itself serious enough.
- 56:20Speaker 6: That I never understand how they get.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:23Speaker 6: Cause I don't understand how that's horror. It's again, it's
- 56:25Speaker 6: more thriller to me.
- 56:26Speaker 2: I mean, he's a serial killer. So that usually ropes
- 56:30Speaker 2: it in for most people.
- 56:31Speaker 4: I agree.
- 56:31Speaker 2: It plays more like a thriller, but it's about two
- 56:34Speaker 2: serial killers. So it definitely has enough gore in it
- 56:37Speaker 2: that like, It, for most people, is way more horror
- 56:41Speaker 2: than they're prepared for if they're not a horror person.
- 56:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 56:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. But, I mean, still, I mean, my...
- 56:49Speaker 4: I guess I always default back to just cheesy action movies.
- 56:54Speaker 4: I mean, the other night... Oh, my God. The other night,
- 56:59Speaker 4: Misty didn't get to the remote fast enough.
- 57:02Speaker 6: I was doing crafts.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you were doing crafts. You should race for it.
- 57:05Speaker 6: I was making Barbie dresses.
- 57:07Speaker 4: She's making Barbie dresses, so I subjected her to.
- 57:11Speaker 6: Which, actually, you don't know, because I had the biggest
- 57:14Speaker 6: crush on him at the time.
- 57:14Speaker 4: That's fine. No, that's okay. I didn't care. At the time,
- 57:20Speaker 4: not longer.
- 57:20Speaker 6: Not now.
- 57:21Speaker 2: Beverly Hills Ninja.
- 57:22Speaker 4: No, no, no. That guy is a genius.
- 57:26Speaker 6: You don't even know the name of the movie.
- 57:29Speaker 4: Pitch Black.
- 57:31Speaker 6: Back when Vin Diesel was.
- 57:32Speaker 2: Still gonna, yeah.
- 57:33Speaker 4: And then Chronicles of Riddick.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I never, I never got the Vin Diesel thing.
- 57:37Speaker 4: Back to back. Back to back, yeah.
- 57:40Speaker 2: I never got the Vin Diesel thing.
- 57:41Speaker 6: But at least in, Pitch Black.
- 57:43Speaker 2: I liked because the, because it's a rip off of
- 57:46Speaker 2: Alien and I love Alien.
- 57:47Speaker 6: But there was so ridiculous lines in that.
- 57:49Speaker 9: Oh yeah.
- 57:50Speaker 2: That's why I don't think I've revisited it in so long.
- 57:53Speaker 2: I watched it once since the first time I watched it.
- 57:56Speaker 2: And even then I was kind of like, maybe I
- 57:57Speaker 2: should just leave it at that. Cause I watched Chronicles
- 58:00Speaker 2: of Riddick and, Carl Urban. I can't take it.
- 58:03Speaker 6: Carl Urban.
- 58:04Speaker 2: That's all I got to say. Vin Diesel is so
- 58:06Speaker 2: grossly Vin Diesel. I can't handle him. At least in
- 58:09Speaker 2: Pitch Black. It gets worse. In Pitch Black, he didn't
- 58:11Speaker 2: know who Vin Diesel was yet. So he wasn't overdoing
- 58:14Speaker 2: the Vin Diesel bullshit.
- 58:15Speaker 6: He didn't look like a drunk baby.
- 58:16Speaker 2: But yeah, by the time you get to Chronicles of Riddick,
- 58:19Speaker 2: this is my Vin Diesel movie.
- 58:21Speaker 4: That's why I was wanting to go to Riddick. Because
- 58:23Speaker 4: it gets even worse.
- 58:25Speaker 2: I can't handle him.
- 58:26Speaker 4: Oh, I love it. It's so bad.
- 58:28Speaker 2: He's so creepy.
- 58:28Speaker 4: It's so bad. But, like, before that, we watched, like,
- 58:31Speaker 4: The Mummy.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Wait, which Mummy? Brendan Fraser?
- 58:35Speaker 4: Yeah, but not that night.
- 58:36Speaker 2: That's not The Mummy to me, really, but.
- 58:38Speaker 4: Not that same night, but.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Before.
- 58:41Speaker 4: Before, it was, like, maybe, who knows, a few weeks, whatever.
- 58:45Speaker 4: It was one of those things where, again.
- 58:47Speaker 6: I was probably crafting.
- 58:48Speaker 4: She was crafting. And I was like, I'm going to
- 58:50Speaker 4: watch a movie. And you were like, I don't care.
- 58:52Speaker 2: As long as it's not the money.
- 58:54Speaker 6: I don't mind Brendan Fraser.
- 58:56Speaker 2: See, that's another one I didn't get at the time. Like,
- 58:58Speaker 2: now I guess I more feel bad for him. Because
- 59:01Speaker 2: I've heard the stories. So, it's like, as a person,
- 59:03Speaker 2: he seems cool. But, like, back in the day, I'm like,
- 59:05Speaker 2: girls used to go all out for that dude. And
- 59:07Speaker 2: I was just like, really?
- 59:08Speaker 6: Yeah he was cute I mean I guess.
- 59:12Speaker 2: But I was more and especially the mummy I was
- 59:15Speaker 2: more annoyed at the time because it felt so wanna
- 59:18Speaker 2: be Indiana Jones And it's not Indiana Jones. No, but
- 59:21Speaker 2: that's the thing.
- 59:21Speaker 4: You've got to look at it as not being a
- 59:24Speaker 4: wannabe Indiana Jones.
- 59:25Speaker 2: But at the time, that's all I saw.
- 59:27Speaker 4: That's what you see.
- 59:28Speaker 2: If I can distance myself and watch it now, I
- 59:30Speaker 2: might be able to appreciate it for the cheesy action
- 59:33Speaker 2: movie that it is.
- 59:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all it is.
- 59:34Speaker 2: The CG fest that it is.
- 59:36Speaker 4: Cheesy action movie. And I'm like, he's not Indiana Jones.
- 59:40Speaker 2: He's definitely not.
- 59:41Speaker 4: He's just fucking Brutus Frasier.
- 59:42Speaker 6: But it's fun.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Again, I have not even attempted to watch it in
- 59:46Speaker 2: so long, so I would be willing to give it
- 59:48Speaker 2: a shot again.
- 59:49Speaker 4: Yeah, you just got to go back and watch it
- 59:51Speaker 4: for this. You know, it's one of those things that's like,
- 59:53Speaker 4: I look at it this way, Friday night, I'm fucking tired.
- 59:56Speaker 4: I might fall asleep. Who knows?
- 59:58Speaker 6: So he's going to pick the worst movies that he can.
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: He knows that I'm going to be awake through it.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I do that because if I'm not feeling up to
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: investing myself in something new that I have to focus on,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: I will re-watch something I've seen a million times because
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: it's just comfortable watching. And then if I fall asleep,
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: who cares? Because I've seen this a million times.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: Exactly. I'm like, I don't want anything that I have
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: to become really invested in or pay attention to. I
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: just want to watch some. It's like that night. I
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: was like, I just want to watch Brendan Fraser shoot mummies.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: Which doesn't work very well, by the way. And then
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: the other night, it was like, I just want to
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: watch Vin Diesel drop really shitty one-liners and run around
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: and punch shit. That's funny. That's hilarious. I'll do that.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: But then it got really late because I was like,
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: I'm going to watch Riddick. And you're like, no, you're not.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: It's too late. Go to sleep. It was like 3
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: in the morning.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: And how'd that work out?
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't watch it. I actually went to sleep.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: That's a good choice, by the way.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I actually listened to you because you were like,
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: you need to get sleep. You need to sleep.
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: Riddick is not worth it.
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: No, it is really not. But I'm trying to think.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: There might have been another movie that I had. I
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: had worked in before that, but I'm not even sure
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: if I can.
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: What was that one movie you tried to make me
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: watch and then even you got too bored about that
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: you changed the channel?
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: What was it?
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: It was another Indiana Jones knockoff.
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: Oh, the Alan Quartermain?
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Oh, he's the most Indiana Jones knockoff.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: Yeah, that was back during the day.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: That was right after. It was the year after Temple
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: of Doom, I think, Quartermain, the first Quartermain came out.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: And I was just like, oh. And now I can
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: look back and go, okay, Richard Chamberlain, I can see
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: people being into him at the time, but I'm like,
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: All I saw as a kid was like, dude, you
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: are no Harrison Ford.
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: Yeah. What are you doing?
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: This wasn't even Richard Chamberlain, was it?
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Was it?
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: I don't fucking remember who it was.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: I don't think the one we watched was. I mean,
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: that character's been around in other stuff.
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: Yeah, he's been around in other stuff.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: I thought those two movies they put out were him
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: and Sharon Stone.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: Wait, this one didn't have Sharon, this one didn't have
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: Sharon Stone?
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Maybe you watched a different movie. One of them had
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: Sharon Stone, yeah.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: She's definitely in the first one. I thought she came
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: back for the second one, too. Because she wasn't really
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Sharon Stone yet. Like, that was right before she broke.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm trying to remember if she was in both
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: of them. Yeah, that was. Yeah, I think she is
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: both of them. Because in the second one, he marries her.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: I think so.
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: Again, I haven't watched. She picks a suit out for him,
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: and he didn't like the suit.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: I have not watched either of them, maybe since that era.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: I think that's the one that I.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Because I didn't really like them then.
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I kind of stopped watching them. They're cheesy.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: They're just such knockoffs.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Well, I mean, that whole Adventure Time 2. What was
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: the guy's name again?
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I thought it was Richard Chamberlain.
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: No, I mean like the name of the character.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Oh, Alan Quartermain.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: Alan Quartermain.
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: All it's bringing up is the guy from General Hospital.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: No. King Solomon's Mines. Look that up. Yeah. But yeah,
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: it's that whole time, you know, like you said, there
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: was all these The big movie would come out, and
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: then all these knockoff movies would come out.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: And then you'd get Firewalker. Dude, I love Firewalker. I
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: had the one sheet for Firewalker hanging up at my house.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: I fucking love Firewalker. And I barely remember anything about it.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Because it was kind of knockoff Indiana Jones, but I
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: also liked the cast.
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: Yeah, it was Richard Chamberlain.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: It's like Lou Asit Jr. And Chuck Norris. And Chuck Norris.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: I was like, you can't go wrong with these two.
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: And they just kept giving dumb one-liners.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: So I, once again, have not seen it since then.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: But at the time, I kind of liked Firewalker.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: My only complaint was like Chuck Norris didn't do a
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: whole lot of like kicking people's asses in that movie.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Because again, you know, that's not what you get in
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Indiana Jones. You punch people, you shoot people, you might
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: machete them every once in a while. But yeah, it's
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: not really a kung fu kind of.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: Well, that's like his one movie, Hero and the Terror. Yeah.
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: I rented that thinking it was going to be like
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: Code of Silence or something like that, you know. And
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: rented it, got it home, watched it. I think he
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: kicked the guy one time in the entire fucking movie.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: That was a later one because I think at that
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: point he was trying to be like a serious actor.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: He was trying to be a serious actor.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: He really wanted to like graduate up from just being
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: that dude that kicks people in the head.
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Which, by the way, while we were in there looking
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: at movies, I saw The Octagon.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Oh, dude, The Octagon is fucking cool. I think I
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: made Misty watch that. before we went and met up
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: with Chuck Norris, like, several years ago.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: The Octagon.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: Octagon, and then we watched Code of Silence.
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: Which one was Code of Silence?
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: Or, no, we watched Good Guys Were Black.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: Did we?
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: Which one was that one?
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: That was the one where he whispers a lot to himself.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Those early movies, he had that silly haircut.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: Yeah, he had the haircut. He had the mustache.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: He had the bowl and mustache and combo, and it
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: was like, at least later, he got some mousse or something.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: He worked out a regular hairstyle, like, Yeah. But yeah, it's,
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: it's that, that breed of movie. I don't know that
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: you can make those anymore.
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: No, no, probably not. Invasion USA. Fucking love that movie.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: That's one of my favorite movies.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: You know? Well, speaking of old timey things that you've
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: returned to doing lately.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: I thought you wanted to tell people about your activities.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: I don't know if anybody really cares.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Well, but, I mean, I'm assuming if you're listening to
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: us talk about old movies, you're also an old person
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: and you'll appreciate the level of commitment that you're giving
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: people because.
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: Okay, yeah. So, if you know me, or maybe you don't,
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: I don't know, whatever. I used to skate a lot.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Back in the day.
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: Back in the day. And I quit skateboarding in, I think,
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: 96 when I picked up into Muay Thai and I
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: decided that I wasn't going to be a pro skateboarder,
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: I decided I was going to be a professional fighter.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: And so I, I went, you know, all in on that.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Nice, safe activities you've chosen.
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I've always got to do something that, that
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: involves me getting hurt. Uh, so I kinda, I kinda
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: left off on skateboarding and, um, I still watch skate videos.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: I still kind of dress in a lot of same stuff.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: So you never, you never not a skateboarder, you know,
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: and I had skated since like the mid to late
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: 80s all the way up until the mid to late
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: 90s pretty seriously and pretty heavily and uh but i
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: just quit you know.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: As opposed to my in my inspiration to become a
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: skateboarder was marty mcfly so i came from a different
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: different different direction.
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: Well no i got into it in high school because
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: my friend was like dude if you get into skateboarding
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: you can get girls girls will like you and i
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: was like all right cool that sounds good chicks dig
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: it's yeah no no the girls like yeah they didn't
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: they didn't like me.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Which now i think it's a different story because now
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: there are girls skateboarding so like it could be a
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: whole different market because that's again of the few people
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: that i've randomly ended up with on my instagram feed
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: there is a girl i don't even know what country
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: she's in i don't think it's america but like she
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: is a skateboarder and like she is badass and like
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: they pop up all the time on my feed i'm
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: like holy shit did you see what she just landed
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: like Yeah. So yeah, there's girls doing it now. It's
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: a whole different market.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: So anyways, um, you know, I get, I get the
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: same thing. I get these old skate videos that pop
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: up in my feed on Facebook when I'm on Facebook,
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: which isn't very often, but, uh, one of them popped
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: up for eight streets, hocus pocus. And, uh, one of
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: my friends and I used to watch it every day.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: And this is a extremely long story with a bunch
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: of different routes, but yeah, avenues. So I, you know, um,
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: So I posted it on there and I tagged him
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: in it. And I'm still friends with this guy. I've
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: been friends with him, but I haven't seen him in
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: like 25 years. But we've just kind of kept in touch.
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: Like a mile and a half down the street. See,
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: I'm still friends with the guy who owned the local
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: skate shop. And so there's another little skate shop that
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: opened a mile and a half down the road from
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: our house. And I'm friends with that guy. I've been
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: friends with him for a long time. And I stop
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: in every once in a while and buy stuff just
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: to keep the skate shop, you know.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: To keep it going.
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: To keep it going, to help.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: Just because local businesses and stuff, you know. So we
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: were starting talking. He built a skate park in the back.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: He used to run a bigger skate park called Riot
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: in Louisville. And then that closed down a bunch of
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: stuff because the, I guess the person who owned the
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: building decided they were going to sell the building and
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: they kicked him out.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: That was a huge thing at the time, because I
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: actually just, of old timey things for our town, I
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: just bought a CD from a band that was playing
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Shows at Riot.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Like, I flipped open theirs, like, there was a shot
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: of them playing next to the, like, there's a dude skateboarding,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: and then, like, a cage area back in the back,
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: and they're, like, playing back there, I think. So, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: It was a thing back in the day.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: So, he, uh, the guy who owns it is named Floyd,
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: and he knows a lot of people. He's pretty, pretty
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: I think well known in the skateboarding scene, well, either
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: the older skateboarding scene, but he's got ramps, little mini ramps.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: And I was never a ramp skater. I was always
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: a street skater. I was like, I'm not a vert dude.
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: I'm a street guy. Because you're hardcore like that. Well, no,
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: because I was afraid to drop in on ramps. But
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: I didn't tell anybody that. I just told them that.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: I was like, no, I don't do that, you know.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: No showboats.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: I don't need that.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: I don't do that vert stuff for old guys. I
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: don't need that. But anyways, he's got this pipe in there,
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: and then you go buy stuff, and you can skate
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: all day. And he was like, you know, you spend
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: $ 10 at the store, you get to skate all day.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: Skate the park. And I was like, dude, I don't
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: skate anymore. And he goes, you should. You should get
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: back on a board. And I was like, yeah, I
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: That way you can get more of your money.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there was another guy that I met.
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: that I became friends with locally. And he gave me
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: a zero team board. That's probably late nineties, early two thousands.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: He goes, I'll give this to you on one condition.
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, what is it? And he goes,
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: you got to skate again. I was like, all right, cool.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: You know? And so I grabbed it thinking, you know,
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: eventually I'm going to skate again. And so a year
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: went by and just completely forgot about it. Um, Posted
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: the video, tagged my friend in it. And I said,
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: you know what? I was like, for my 52nd birthday,
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: I want to drop in on a ramp. Because I've
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: never done that. I've never dropped in on a ramp. Well,
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: I did one time, and I fell. And then I
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: was like, fuck this. I'm not a ramp skater. And
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: then all of a sudden, I didn't want to do ramp.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: But I was like, no, I want to do it.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: I want to actually skate ramp. And he was like,
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: why wait? He's like, let's go do it. I was like, okay, when?
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: He goes, this Friday.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: I was like, all right, cool.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: So this Friday, yesterday, I stepped back on a board,
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: a skateboard for the first time in 25 years and
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: got on a ramp. It's been 30 years since I
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: got up on a ramp and actually dropped in. Straight
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: to the ground. I dropped in.
- 1:11:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I dropped in.
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: But, you know, that's skateboarding, though. That's the thing is like,
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: you know, I'm just joking, boyfriend.
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: I'm very proud of you.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: Yeah, you're going to slam.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: I'm more impressed that you were okay to do it.
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: Yeah, you're going to slam.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Knowing what you're dealing with.
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: I have a different take on it as the old
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: man that I am because it was very slick and
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: icy these last several months in the wintertime.
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: And I'm usually pretty good at handling on the ice
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: and just not falling. I had one time out of
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: the entire weeks and weeks, it was fucking icy that
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: I started to slip and the place I went to
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: stop myself was also icy. And then it's the only
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: time I went down the whole run of that. I
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: hit my wrist and I just, just recently does it start?
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Not like I, every time I went to move, I
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: was like, Oh, that doesn't feel right.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: You put your hand back to catch it.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: Well, I was just like, yeah, I just, I caught
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: myself out of instinct and like I did catch myself.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: But then later I was like, fuck what is up
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: with my wrist that's i'm an old man that's the
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: problem when you're an 18 year old you can do
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: that not even think about it yeah when you're an
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: old man you're like holy shit i'm never gonna be
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: able to use my hand again yeah so yeah as
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: an old man i am equally if not more so
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: impressed that you decided to even attempt this because i
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: went the other way and like well i'm never allowed
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: to do anything again because i'm.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: Old well you know i mean uh i still i
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: still do muay thai So I still work out.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Which even that seems like, ow.
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I still do that. I still do combatives training.
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: This past week, I've kind of like been really harsh.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: You beat yourself to death. I've kind of beat myself
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: to death this past week. And like I was telling Misty,
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: I was like, if me and my body were friends,
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: we would not be on speaking terms right now. My
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: body would be like, dude, fuck you. we would probably
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: be throwing hands, like hurt.
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: Not very well.
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: Not very well.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: One of you might be, but the other one.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: I got hurt. Well, I was out of Muay Thai
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: for about two months and then went back, started jumping rope,
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: went right back into it and was like, you know what?
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: You can't do a 15-minute round of rope and not
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: hurt your feet because we don't wear shoes. We're just
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: like barefoot. And so years and years of jumping barefoot
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: on concrete, Has taken its toll on my ankles.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: And then going back into it, I kind of have
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: to ease into it. But I didn't. I just went
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: full blast at it. And so my plantar fasciitis started
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: acting up.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: You are an old man.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I was like, damn it. You know, that started
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: acting up. So it was hard for me to walk.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: And then one of my buddies got me into mace bells.
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: So I've been doing kettlebell training. But then he got
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: me into mace bells. So I started mace bell training.
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: this week, so my upper body's all sore. And then
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: I got into skateboarding and then slammed a bunch yesterday.
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: But I did manage to drop in several times. I
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: only fell one time.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: And that was painful, by the way, because I saw
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: the video.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: Well, no, that wasn't the time I dropped in. The
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: first time I dropped in, I know what I'm supposed
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: to do, but I leaned back, and I'm supposed to
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: lean forward. I didn't lean forward far enough. Um, and
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: the board shot out from underneath me and I fell backwards,
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: but then I was like, oh, fuck you, dummy. You
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: know what you got to do. So then I dropped
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: in every time I dropped in after that, I was fine. But, uh, I,
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: I was working on just pumping back and forth on
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: the flat bottom, getting up to the edge of the lip.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: And like the first thing I did was a tail stall,
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: which is like, this is the first ramp trick I've
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: ever done. Tail stall. And, uh, everybody's like, yeah, yeah. And,
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: and Floyd's like, now you got to do rock to fakie.
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: And so I did rock the fakie, which I fell
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: several times. But then I finally, or not fall, but
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: I like bailed out of it a couple times. Finally
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: landed rock the fakie. And then he had to do
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: something with, the customers came in. And then he had to.
- 1:15:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I've heard so many things these past couple days
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: that I have no idea what they mean.
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Yeah, whatever.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: You need like a glossary.
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: So anyways, everybody left the room. I was like, I'm
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: going to drop in. So my buddy Greg was there.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: So I dropped in, dropped in, rocked the fakie, came back,
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: tail stall, and then bailed on it on the board.
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: After that, came back down. I couldn't think of anything else.
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: So I was just stoked that I did that. So
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: I was like, oh, you didn't get it on film.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: I was like, no. So I looked and I was like, fuck,
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: I got to leave in like 10 minutes. So we're
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: going to film it real quick. And I couldn't land it.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: But so... The only video that I had was the
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: video of me dropping in, rock the fakie, and then
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: falling backwards on my ass. And so I was like,
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: that's good enough. We'll just put that online because it's funny.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Which, again, I saw that and went, see, that's when
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: I would have caught myself and broken my wrist. And
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: then I'd never be able to do anything.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: That's what I did. I landed on my wrist.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: Because you were saying that earlier that you really still are.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: I was like, that was.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Me for, like, weeks on end.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: Jacked up.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: Because nothing heals now because you're old.
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: Yeah. Now, he told me, like, there's two different ramps.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: So there's an indoor. There's in the skate shop, there's
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: a mini with a spine. And then outside in the garage,
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: there's a larger, I guess it's a four foot. It's
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: either a four or five foot mini ramp. And then
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: a three foot quarter that goes all the way across
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: to the other side. And there's a wall ride. And
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: he was like, drop in on that. And I was like, no,
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: I don't want to drop in on that. That's high.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: That's high to me. And the ramp inside.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: You're still just getting going.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: I was like, the inside ramp's low. I'm like, that's a,
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: like the inside ramp might be two foot. It's tiny.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: So I was like, I'll drop in on that.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Baby steps.
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: Baby steps. But he was telling me, no, don't drop
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: in on the one on the inside, drop in on
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: the other one. And I was like, that doesn't make
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: any sense to me. And he's like, well, because you've
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: got plenty of room. Once you drop in, you've got
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: like all this space that's flat ground till you get
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: to the wall ride. And I was like, yeah, whatever.
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: So I'm just getting my balance back on the board
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: and learning how to ollie. So I busted a couple ollies,
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: a fakie ollie, and I attempted to do a pop
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: shove it and landed it, and then the board slipped
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: out from underneath me and I fell on concrete. So
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: that was the first fall.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: You've lost me already.
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm out of this.
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: I fell a lot.
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: Now you know how I felt.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: I'm out of this.
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: Yeah, fell a lot.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Too much falling for me.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm fucking so much shit. But on top
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: of that, staying with the theme of hating myself, today
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: while you guys were at the convention, I went and
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: did more combatives training with a combatives group that we
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: met up with. And as soon as I got out
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: of the car... I was like, dude, you weren't kidding, man.
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: You look fucked up. I was like, oh, no, I'm fine.
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: He goes, you're not walking like you're fine.
- 1:18:24Speaker 6: Everything's popping and cracking.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: I've got knee braces and ankle braces. Braces on every
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: part of you. Arm braces. Yeah, I should buy stock
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: in Copperfit, really. I'm always joking. I need a Copperfit
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: body cast.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: I thought that was the deal that your friend that
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: owns the skate shop, I thought maybe he has like
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: a deal with the ER. He's like, look, I'm gonna
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: try to convince all the old dudes i know to
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: come in here yeah you guys give me a cut
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: every time they show.
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: Up yeah no and we actually talked about about that
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: because it's like uh uh like my friend greg okay he's.
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: 46 48 i think i don't know when we met
- 1:19:04Speaker 10: he was like 14 and me and him skated together
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: every day we were like best friends skated like all
- 1:19:09Speaker 10: the time and then lost track of each other.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: And then he was the one that was like, Hey,
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: we're going to get together. We're going to skate. And
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: that was talking to him. And he's like, I don't
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: do anything on Fridays. I don't have anybody to skate with.
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: He's like, you know, and I was like, well, I
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: want to start skating again. I was like, let's start
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: an old man skate league. I was like, so we're
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: going to start meeting up on Friday nights or Friday
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: afternoons up at the skate park. And, I posted that
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: and like several of my other friends that are in
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: their late 40s, early 50s.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Let me take my Geritol and I'll be there.
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: Let me get my Tony Hawk and Coke you 10.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: Coke you 10.
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: I do trust that because Tony Hawk says so. Because
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: if anybody should know, he's an old man who's busted
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: up his body his whole life. So he should know.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. So I've got buddies that are coming out
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: of the woodwork. They're like, holy shit, man, I need this.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: I was like, come up there.
- 1:19:59Speaker 6: But how many will actually show up?
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: And hang out. So I told them, I was like,
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: you don't have to skate. Or you can just pump
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: around on the flat ground. I was like, you know,
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: just come hang out. You know, we're just going to
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: listen to music, hang out, laugh. And it was a
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: fucking awesome time. It was great. It was like being
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: a kid again with people that I haven't seen in years.
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: And so it's just trying to get those other guys
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: out because one of my buddies is like, man, I
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: wish I'd never stopped skating. I was like, start back up,
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: get on the board. I was like, get on it.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: We got flat around. Never too late. Never too late.
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: Cause you're not going to get any fucking younger. And
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: that's the thing I realized. I realized we're getting older.
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: I want to do all the shit that I can
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: do while I can do it. Because the days of me,
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: and I think I talked to Randy about this one time,
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: we were supposed to, you know, Live fast, die young. Well,
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: what the fuck happens?
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: You missed that off-ramp, dude.
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: What happens when you don't die young and you still
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: live fast?
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: You just hurt a lot.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: You hurt a lot. So I was like, fuck this, man.
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: I'm going to keep going. I'm going to keep going.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: Because you never know when it's going to be your
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: last day. I've had too many friends just fucking check out.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: You know? Or have bad shit happen to them where,
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: you know, they get cancer and they can't fucking move.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 1:21:22Speaker 10: You never know, man.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: You never know what the hell's going to happen.
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: Yeah, one of my friends was like, you know, if
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: you could think of, what was it? If you were like,
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: I don't know how to say what he even put.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: It was like some kind of meme. It was talking
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: about things that you wish you would have done before
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: you died. You know, and I was sitting there going,
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: I mean, I kind of wish I would have gotten
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: to go to Japan again, but for like, an actual
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: amount of time, not just a fucking four hour layover. Yeah.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: I still want to go. So let's plan that trip.
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: I was like, I was like, I want to do that.
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: And I was like, really? I can't think of anything
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: else that there's like really that I want to do.
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: And I was like, but you know what? I was like,
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: I never dropped in on a mini ramp. And in
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: a way it kind of sucks. You know, I was like,
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: I kind of need to do that. Maybe that's what
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: I need to do. I need to drop in on
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: a mini ramp. And I was talking to Floyd Floyd.
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: He's like, dude, we're old guys. I'm telling you, skating
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: mini ramp is way easier on you than skating concrete. Yeah.
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: Because falling on plywood is a lot softer than falling
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: on concrete. And fuck, I really learned that this weekend.
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: Because you did both.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: Because I did both. Yeah. And I fell on the ramp.
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: I was like, wow, this isn't bad. You know? Because
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: I just fell on concrete like five times out there.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: But yeah, I just, you know. If you're still young, hell,
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: if you're still old, if you can still do shit,
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: get out and fucking do it.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: If you can walk, it might only be for a
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: little while.
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: Give it a shot.
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: Yeah, fuck it, you know? Oh, jeez.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: Well, to bring it full circle, Misty, I would say
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: he's the most interesting man alive.
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. And you didn't even fall asleep on him.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: See, he really is interesting because I stayed awake for him.
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: Go ahead and tell him.
- 1:23:12Speaker 6: Because we were walking around. We walked through, was it
- 1:23:14Speaker 6: the artist alley, which took us, apparently, I was the.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: One following the wrong area. Yeah, there's a whole, like,
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: secret group of tunnels off in the hotel area there
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: that I'm like, oh, I had no idea there were
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: all these people selling their cool stuff that, like, they're
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: just sort of tucked away in little hallways and stuff.
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: Well, that's what they do with artists. They hide them.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: Yeah. That's why they're starving. That's why I was like,
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: do they have to pay the same as in the
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: big room? Because that's not cool. They're all hidden away
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: over here.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:23:37Speaker 6: But then we were walking through there, and we were
- 1:23:39Speaker 6: walking along, and we walked past this room, and I'm like,
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: what's in this room? And I look at the little board,
- 1:23:43Speaker 6: and it's like, the most interesting man in the world.
- 1:23:46Speaker 6: And I'm like, well, fuck, let's walk on in there.
- 1:23:50Speaker 6: Because the room was half fucking... It wasn't even half empty.
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: It was like there was maybe.
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: I mean, that's a lot of those Q & As.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: People don't know they're going on and like.
- 1:23:57Speaker 6: It's... And it was out there in the middle of
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: artist alley.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was tucked away over there. So, like,
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: you know, no offense to that dude.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: But the million dollar question was, was he the most
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: interesting guy in the world?
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: Well, based on me.
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: I mean, I thought he was fairly interesting. I mean,
- 1:24:12Speaker 6: I don't necessarily agree with his politics, but I still
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: thought he was very well-spoken and could tell a story.
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: He seemed very, you know.
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: Well, no, politics aside, I'm just saying, is he.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: He's a storyteller.
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: He's a storyteller. But was he as interesting as the
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: commercials made it out to be?
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: Or was the commercial just... Like, the commercial wasn't... based
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: around his actual life.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: I think he's just an actor that got picked up
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: to do that.
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: Just because he was like, okay, yeah.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: But I, just what I, what I heard, I do
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: think he is an old guy that's had an interesting life. Like,
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: he is, naming off stuff that he's done. He's been
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: around for a while. So I do feel like he
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: probably does have some interesting stories.
- 1:24:53Speaker 6: Well, because one of his stories, somebody asked him, as
- 1:24:55Speaker 6: the most interesting man in the world, what's the most
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: interesting thing that's ever happened to you? It wasn't like
- 1:25:00Speaker 6: a short answer. There was no short answer.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: It was a lot of stories.
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: And his was going to Camp David on Obama's 50th
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: birthday party.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: Which again, how many people get to be special guests
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: of any U.S. president?
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: Not very many.
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: And he was like telling us, apparently they were doing
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: like sports, not like, you know, like, like a skeet shooting.
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: Apparently Barack Obama is a hell of a skeet shooter.
- 1:25:24Speaker 6: And like, apparently he, this guy was archery, you know,
- 1:25:28Speaker 6: so he fucking lit up the archery guy, dude. And
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: it was just, apparently he was doing all the things.
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: And then he had this long, interesting story about hanging
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: out with Barack Obama at Camp David doing sports. Sports.
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: Yeah. Crazy.
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: And then somebody did ask him to do the saying,
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: and of course he did it. He's like, well, I
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: haven't said that for a while. You know? So he
- 1:25:51Speaker 6: was like, and he answered. I mean, there weren't a
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: lot of people there, but they all had questions, and
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: he answered them all. And like I said, they weren't
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: short answers. So he seems like he'd be an interesting
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: guy to talk to, that he would have stories, and
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: he would just be able to fill a conversation.
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: I found him fascinating.
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: As you took a nap.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: We stopped moving. So as I've stated many a time,
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: I've diagnosed myself as narcoleptic a long time ago. And
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: this is not today. This is any given day of
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: the week. If I stop moving, I fall asleep. We
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: sat down and I was like, Yeah, this is probably happening.
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: I was just making sure you weren't snoring, because I
- 1:26:30Speaker 6: was like, as if it was a boyfriend.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: That's rude.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: I don't want to hear that. That would have been
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: fucking hilarious.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: I just stopped moving, and thus I go to sleep.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: It's an issue.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: Who was the man that has fallen asleep during.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: What were you running on about, dude?
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: I was not.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: Really paying attention to you.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: Anyway. Who are you again?
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: Anyway. Yeah, you're not the world's most interesting man because
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: this guy's asleep.
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: At least we sat in the back.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we tried to keep it under wraps. We sat
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: in the back.
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: You didn't want to be the guy up front because
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: then you would have been the guy who's like, hey,
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: hey you, wake up!
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: Do you have a question? Yeah, do you have a pillow?
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: He would have been all pissed.
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: There was an extra cushy chair up front. Maybe he
- 1:27:12Speaker 6: would have let you sit in that one beside him.
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: He would have thought you were a heckler. Like you
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: were just being purposely an asshole.
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: No, dude, I just.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: I try not to do this at work as well.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: If I stop and sit down for a minute, I
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: might be asleep at any given moment.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: Oh, dude, I'm like that at break.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: I'm telling you, man.
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: At break time, I sit down, I'm looking on my phone.
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: The next thing you know, I've dropped my phone and
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: I'm asleep.
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: I'm telling you. Damn it. It happens real quick.
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: I don't even, like, what has he done?
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: He was, I mean, he was an actor, I'm pretty sure.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: Because I do remember looking him up when people were like,
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: this is who that guy is. And I was like,
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: who is he?
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: He has been.
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: Done acting over the years.
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: He did this other thing too about some of the
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: roles he didn't get. And it was kind of sad
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: at the same time. It was interesting, but it was
- 1:27:54Speaker 6: kind of like, oh man, that sucks for you. What
- 1:27:57Speaker 6: was the one role he was trying for that he
- 1:28:01Speaker 6: was up for, but then somebody else beat him to it?
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: Not the monkey role.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: You'll have to tell me.
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I tried. You were asleep. Because apparently he
- 1:28:12Speaker 6: was offered a role in Planet of the Apes.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: But then his agent called him back. It's like, what
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: color are your eyes? He's like, well, they're blue.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: Oh, fuck.
- 1:28:22Speaker 6: The monkeys have brown eyes. So he got dropped on
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: that one. But it seems like there was another one
- 1:28:27Speaker 6: that was like another big movie. And for the life
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: of me, I can't fucking remember what it was. Like,
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: you got really far. Oh, it was the Boston Strangler movie.
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: Because he was. he almost got the role, and I
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: can't remember who ended up with the role.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: He didn't sound like he was from Boston enough? Because
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: he kind of didn't.
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: Well, it was a bigger name. It was like a
- 1:28:49Speaker 6: bigger name. And like, when you got a bigger name
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: like that coming in, I mean.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: Sorry, got to go. Hold on.
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: Now I want to know. Strangler movie. Do we want
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: to say it's 68? Oh, Tony Curtis.
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: You can't argue with Tony Curtis, man.
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: Obviously not.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: It's a household name in that era.
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: Apparently because he was the same build, the same height.
- 1:29:14Speaker 6: He was around the same age. Kind of resembled the
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: guy even, supposedly. But then when fucking Tony Curtis gets in,
- 1:29:22Speaker 6: you know.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: Casting is everything. So, yeah. What are you going to do?
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: You just go get your cool commercial gig and don't
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: worry about it. So, that was the many fun things
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: we did.
- 1:29:34Speaker 6: Oh, he was in a movie that I definitely, he's
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: in a movie I want to watch.
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: Oh, God, here we go.
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: I got it on Blu-ray and I haven't watched it yet.
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: Phantom of the Mall, Eric's Revenge.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: See, part two. I remember the first one.
- 1:29:45Speaker 6: I don't even think there was a second one, or
- 1:29:47Speaker 6: first one, was there?
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: It just went straight to part two.
- 1:29:51Speaker 6: I kind of think so.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Maybe, yeah. Maybe I'm just. Rolled it all into one
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: thing in my head. Because I swear I think I
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: had that taped on VHS back in the day.
- 1:29:59Speaker 6: I mean, it's a fucking... It's an 80s slasher film.
- 1:30:04Speaker 6: Why don't you want to watch it?
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: I didn't say I didn't want to watch it.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: How could it be more awesome?
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: When did I say I didn't want to watch it?
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: I just said, hell yeah.
- 1:30:12Speaker 6: But it's got Pauly Shore in it.
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: Oh, never mind.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: It's even better.
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: No, it's even better.
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: It's got Ken Faree in it.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: Okay, I'm on board with that. Ken's cool.
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: Morgan Fairchild.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: She's in Pee Wee. I like that.
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: Derek Rydell. I don't even... Who's Derek Rydell? But I
- 1:30:34Speaker 6: enjoyed the fact that I got to see the most
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: interesting man in the world.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: Me too. I was in his presence.
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: Again, no reflection on him. That's my lifestyle. I fall
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: asleep in the... A wide array of places, we'll say.
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: So that was our fun activities for the day and
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: this week for you, Jay, because you've done nothing but
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: pummel yourself for a week straight. So we thought we'd
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: work that in.
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: I'm taking a day off tomorrow.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: I hope so.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: I'll be back at it on Monday.
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:31:09Speaker 6: Assuming other people show up.
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:31:10Speaker 4: No, I hear they're showing up.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Well, we want to thank the Lexington Comic and Toy
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: Convention for letting us come and be part of the magic.
- 1:31:19Speaker 6: Hail jail.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: So go to Lexington... ComicCon.com.
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: LexingtonComicon.com.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: And you can find out about next year and get
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: involved in all of this. And you'll probably stay awake
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: for it because you don't have narcolepsy. But I have problems.
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: So.
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: Many, many problems.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: Thank you once again for letting us be part of that.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: And come hang out. And I bought cool stuff while
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: I was there. So it's all good. Anything else to
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: pass along?
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: Everything hurts.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Everything hurts, but try whatever it is you want to try, man.
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: Yeah. Pain is temporary. Glory is forever.
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: Death is forever.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: Death is forever.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: And that's how we're going now. Thank you once again
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: for joining us. Otherwise, we will return next time. Same
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: Let's dance this time.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: Let's dance for a while. Heaven can wait. We're only
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: watching the sky.
- 1:32:15Speaker 9: Hoping for the best but expecting the worst Are you
- 1:32:19Speaker 9: gonna drop the bomb or not?
- 1:32:22Speaker 7: Let us die or let us live forever.
- 1:32:25Speaker 9: Don't have the power but we never say never Sitting
- 1:32:32Speaker 9: in the sandpit, life is a short trip Music's for
- 1:32:37Speaker 9: the sad.
- 1:32:38Speaker 7: Man Can you imagine when this race is run?
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: Turn our golden faces into the sun Praising our leaders, getting.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: In tune The.
- 1:32:51Speaker 9: Music's played by the madmen Forever young I.
- 1:32:55Speaker 7: Want to be forever young Do you really want to
