- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:14Speaker 1: Ballue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My name is
- 0:17Speaker 1: Michael Benning on this Tuesday, May nineteenth. Hope everybody's having
- 0:23Speaker 1: a great day so far. I don't know why I've
- 0:24Speaker 1: got all this hesitation all of a sudden, but anyway,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I listen. My mind is so preoccupied today. But I
- 0:31Speaker 1: got Jason Klen with me today. That Jason Calen. I mean,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm saying right now. Can we
- 0:38Speaker 1: just start the music all over again? Thank you? Exactly
- 0:42Speaker 1: what Justin Caln is with me today. I know what
- 0:46Speaker 1: your name is. I don't know why I said Jason,
- 0:49Speaker 1: but I guess because I was talking about another Jason
- 0:52Speaker 1: not too long ago. But anyway, it's been a kind
- 0:55Speaker 1: of crazy whirl when last couple of days. But if
- 0:59Speaker 1: you want to join us, you can do that Fible
- 1:01Speaker 1: two three A four fourteen fifty. You want to text
- 1:04Speaker 1: in on the whiskey t text line FIVELE two four
- 1:07Speaker 1: to one four fourteen fifty. You can tweet me at
- 1:09Speaker 1: Just the Cat Radio as I still am here in
- 1:12Speaker 1: Baltimore until tomorrow. And why are you shaking your head?
- 1:17Speaker 2: No?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Already I just feel.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Like, I don't know that I care all that much
- 1:21Speaker 3: for Baltimore. Oh really, so there's a small part of me.
- 1:24Speaker 3: It kind of feels bad for you. By the way,
- 1:26Speaker 3: how is traffic in Baltimore? The whole bridge thing?
- 1:31Speaker 1: Oh? You know, it's funny. I got the TV on
- 1:34Speaker 1: right in front of me and they're talking about that.
- 1:37Speaker 1: What Scott Key, the guy that wrote the national anthem,
- 1:40Speaker 1: Francis Scott Key, and they're talking about it. Do you
- 1:43Speaker 1: realize when that hip hit the bridge? I did not.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It's already been over two years since that happened, Has
- 1:51Speaker 1: it really exactly? That's exactly what I said. I'm like,
- 1:56Speaker 1: that just happened last year, didn't it? Of course? And
- 1:59Speaker 1: I looked it up. It was March twenty I believe
- 2:02Speaker 1: it was the twenty sixth of twenty twenty four. That's crazy.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So it's been over two years. I know. I would
- 2:11Speaker 1: have sworn that would have been like last year. Yeah,
- 2:13Speaker 1: And the good news is I'm close to where I'm
- 2:16Speaker 1: going and it's it's an it's an old, old, I
- 2:20Speaker 1: mean old race track that they have this phasing tipped
- 2:23Speaker 1: in two year old sale at called the mid Atlantic
- 2:27Speaker 1: and Timodium, Maryland. So I'm kind of just a little
- 2:30Speaker 1: north and west of Baltimore, so traffic's not an issue
- 2:34Speaker 1: to me. Now. I'm moving hotels close back, closer to
- 2:38Speaker 1: Laurel Park tonight because I'm gonna go watch some of
- 2:41Speaker 1: the horses train tomorrow and at Laurel Park and so
- 2:45Speaker 1: and then I'll fly out of there tomorrow afternoon. But yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: so traffic hasn't affected me at all. Now, what is
- 2:52Speaker 1: affecting me is the crab. I am a nut for crab.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I've I had. I had crab cakes on Sunday for lunch,
- 3:04Speaker 1: crab cakes for dinner on Sunday night. I had crab
- 3:09Speaker 1: cakes yesterday and crab soup every single time, and last
- 3:14Speaker 1: night I didn't have crab. So yeah, I love it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I mean they're crab cakes. There's no cake to it.
- 3:24Speaker 1: It's it's all crab with a tiny bit of filling.
- 3:27Speaker 1: You know, if you get something like that in Louisville
- 3:31Speaker 1: or somewhere not as close to the ocean, it's mostly filler. Here,
- 3:35Speaker 1: it's just all lump crabs. It's unbelievable and I love it.
- 3:39Speaker 3: You want to know my hot take? Okay, So if
- 3:43Speaker 3: I really sit down and think about it. Yes, crab
- 3:47Speaker 3: is probably my favorite food that I could eat. Is
- 3:50Speaker 3: it really love crab?
- 3:52Speaker 1: See? I don't think that's a hot take. I think
- 3:54Speaker 1: it's mine as well. My hot take's coming. Oh I'm sorry.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I hate crab cakes.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Do you really? Dude?
- 4:02Speaker 3: I have never once liked crab cakes.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Have you ever had crab cakes? Baltimore, Maryland?
- 4:08Speaker 4: No?
- 4:08Speaker 3: I can definitely say.
- 4:09Speaker 1: That's why that that is why you have one over here.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Like I just said, it's it's ninety ninety five percent crab,
- 4:18Speaker 1: five ten percent of filler, so it's nothing but just
- 4:22Speaker 1: crab meat, and it is just it's absolutely incredible. I'm
- 4:26Speaker 1: like you, I'd much rather have the legs, would you really? Yeah?
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Although it's more work. The work with crab legs
- 4:33Speaker 3: can get kind of annoying at times, but it's always
- 4:35Speaker 3: worth it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I got youa uh, but it doesn't bother me.
- 4:40Speaker 1: That was the one thing my dad always says, like,
- 4:42Speaker 1: why do you eat all those crabs? It takes you
- 4:44Speaker 1: forget forever to get the meat out. I mean, don't
- 4:47Speaker 1: you starve in the meantime. It's like, No, it's worth
- 4:49Speaker 1: it because I like it with drawn butter and Old Bay.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Do you like old Bae? Yeah? Oh yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 3: There is not a better seasoning on the market.
- 5:01Speaker 1: You know. And you know what I like it on.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I like it on French fries. French fries. Oh my gosh.
- 5:08Speaker 1: So the restaurant I went to yesterday had it on
- 5:10Speaker 1: potato chips, and I'm like, this is the greatest thing.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So if Laze or anybody out there wants to create
- 5:17Speaker 1: the greatest potato chip ever, make it with Old Bay.
- 5:21Speaker 1: You know, I don't know if there is or not.
- 5:22Speaker 3: You know, they have Old Bay sunflower seeds.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Do they really? They're incredible? Oh my gosh. Okay, I'm
- 5:30Speaker 1: gonna have to go find where did you find the
- 5:32Speaker 1: Old Bay sunflower seeds?
- 5:34Speaker 3: You can get them at any gas station around here.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Really, okay, all right, I'm doing that. They're just as
- 5:41Speaker 1: good as you would think they would be. Really okay.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So I've been hanging out with a couple of trainers
- 5:47Speaker 1: from the state of New York. I don't remember one
- 5:50Speaker 1: of them. One was Danny Everett, who a really nice
- 5:56Speaker 1: guy and got the thick New York accent, and so
- 5:58Speaker 1: I was sitting with him at lunch yesterday and then
- 6:01Speaker 1: no not Danny, It's Scotty Scotty Everett. And then I start.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Then Danny Gargan came over and sat with us. Danny Gargan,
- 6:10Speaker 1: if you remember, he's the trainer of door Knock that
- 6:14Speaker 1: won the Belmont what was it last year or year
- 6:17Speaker 1: before last with Jason Wirk That was two years ago,
- 6:22Speaker 1: but yes, it was two years ago. That was twenty
- 6:24Speaker 1: twenty four. I have no idea it's gone. I'm so sorry. Yeah,
- 6:29Speaker 1: but I gotta tell you hanging out with those two guys,
- 6:32Speaker 1: because you know Danny Gargan, he's about as country as
- 6:35Speaker 1: it gets. Yeah, and then you got Scotty Everett, who's
- 6:37Speaker 1: a boat as New York as it gets. I mean
- 6:39Speaker 1: I was dying laughing the entire time. I had a
- 6:42Speaker 1: ball with him yesterday. So yeah, I love hanging out
- 6:45Speaker 1: with New Yorkers that I just just people that have
- 6:48Speaker 1: grown up in a different environment than I have. I
- 6:51Speaker 1: just I think it's fun. I'm entertained the entire time.
- 6:53Speaker 1: They're definitely a lot different than what we grew up with. Yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 1: oh absolutely, and just just listen to the thick New
- 7:01Speaker 1: York Northeastern accent. I am entertained the entire time, even
- 7:06Speaker 1: more than me being you know, entertaining myself while watching
- 7:09Speaker 1: myself on YouTube. Okay, so that I had a ball
- 7:12Speaker 1: with that yesterday, but you know, it's it's people would
- 7:14Speaker 1: probably tune into YouTube watch this for a couple of minutes,
- 7:17Speaker 1: like what is Bennett talking about? He has lost his mind?
- 7:20Speaker 1: I just it's I love this. So yeah, I just
- 7:23Speaker 1: sat in there and watched horses be bought and sold
- 7:26Speaker 1: and it was a lot of fun. So I haven't
- 7:29Speaker 1: bon anything. What was the highest price yesterday?
- 7:32Speaker 3: Uh?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Two million? There was one that went for two million,
- 7:37Speaker 1: fifty thousand, Yeah, yeah, exactly, and I don't remember who
- 7:42Speaker 1: the horse was by, but yeah, it's got these two
- 7:44Speaker 1: people just kept bidding away, bidden away. Bob Baffert was
- 7:47Speaker 1: a bought one for like over a million. But I
- 7:51Speaker 1: mean they just they they they think one hundred thousand
- 7:55Speaker 1: dollars is like five ten dollars in our bill fold?
- 7:59Speaker 3: So is it do they do it like I'm sorry,
- 8:01Speaker 3: I'm really ignorant with all this stuff, But do they
- 8:04Speaker 3: do it like in actual auction? Like is there an
- 8:06Speaker 3: auctioneer like thousand a.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yes, yes, that's exactly how it is, and there's nothing
- 8:14Speaker 1: more exciting when you get involved in the auction, it's
- 8:17Speaker 1: like that is a lot of fun. And I mean
- 8:20Speaker 1: the auctioneer will get right in your face. Sometimes it's
- 8:23Speaker 1: like come on now, come on now, and start waving
- 8:25Speaker 1: you and come on, come on, let's have a little more.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And I mean it's exhilarating. And then you find yourself, oh, crap, man,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I spent way too much money. I spent more. And
- 8:34Speaker 1: that's the thing about auctions. You have to be disciplined
- 8:37Speaker 1: and I'm not there yet. I'm not going to claim
- 8:40Speaker 1: that I am disciplined in this at all, because there's
- 8:42Speaker 1: there's patience, there's times to bid, there's times to not bid,
- 8:47Speaker 1: and you know, you want it to slow down, and
- 8:49Speaker 1: then as soon as it slow downs, if your number
- 8:51Speaker 1: is still there, you go ahead and start bidding at
- 8:53Speaker 1: that point. But yeah, you never hurry in this, and
- 8:56Speaker 1: then all of a sudden you spent a lot more
- 8:58Speaker 1: money than you anticipated. Because that's that's that's the thing
- 9:01Speaker 1: about auctions. You get excited. You need to watch Storage
- 9:04Speaker 1: Wars so you can get some too. No, I I've
- 9:06Speaker 1: watched Storage Wars. I know. I yeah, in fact, didn't.
- 9:10Speaker 1: One of the main characters just pass away about a
- 9:12Speaker 1: month ago, Darryl. Yes, yeah, one of the guys.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Although, yeah, but with the way this Morning's went, that
- 9:19Speaker 3: probably happened in twenty twenty four.
- 9:23Speaker 1: No, I know it just you're probably right, but I
- 9:26Speaker 1: know it just happened the last couple of months. I
- 9:29Speaker 1: think he was kind of a goof two weeks ago.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Oh was it just two weeks ago? Okay, yeah, well
- 9:35Speaker 1: that's sad, but because he wasn't that old. But I
- 9:38Speaker 1: think I didn't think he was sixty. I watched that
- 9:42Speaker 1: a few times. I always kind of liked the guy
- 9:44Speaker 1: that had the glasses, the older gentleman and always wore
- 9:47Speaker 1: those skeleton gloves. Oh from Las Vegas, I think, is it? Oh,
- 9:53Speaker 1: yes it is Barry. Yeah. I kind of liked him.
- 9:56Speaker 1: But the part that always made me chick buck, though,
- 10:00Speaker 1: is when they finally butt and they always called it
- 10:02Speaker 1: a locker. It's a storage unit. It's not a locker, okay,
- 10:07Speaker 1: but every time they got the locker, they go through
- 10:09Speaker 1: this stuff. Yeah, this is two hundred. I'll get two
- 10:11Speaker 1: hundred out of this. I'll get a thousand out of it.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It's like, dude, show me when you sell it. That's
- 10:16Speaker 1: when I'll believe what your price is because I think
- 10:18Speaker 1: they escalate everything.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Well, and a lot of it will sit in their
- 10:21Speaker 3: store whatever for months and months and months.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Hey, you're not exact, no, So I just love how
- 10:28Speaker 1: they escalate all the pricing and all that. Oh look
- 10:30Speaker 1: what I just got this hammer set. This will sell
- 10:32Speaker 1: for two thousand dollars. I mean it's it's dramatic reality TV.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Like I don't, I don't know what you expect that's
- 10:39Speaker 1: all for TV? Well, exactly, well, I expect the truth
- 10:43Speaker 1: when it's reality. I want reality to be in there.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I don't want it to be stage. And that's all
- 10:48Speaker 1: reality shows are, is completely stayed.
- 10:51Speaker 3: You're not wrong.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I don't believe. You know, for a while, my wife
- 10:55Speaker 1: got into the car Stangens. He's like, this is dumb.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Thank goodness. She got out of that after two or
- 11:01Speaker 1: three episodes because I couldn't stand watching that show. And
- 11:04Speaker 1: then the the Kardashians. Yes, well, I said another name.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yeah no, I said, stop saying stop saying that name.
- 11:17Speaker 1: That that's a friend of mine that actually runs Churchill Town.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I see, so would I I mean, can you imagine
- 11:25Speaker 1: if they went to well, they actually did a show
- 11:28Speaker 1: with Uh Bill Carstanden, Uh, what was it called the
- 11:34Speaker 1: the Undercover Boss? Really he was an undercover boss on
- 11:40Speaker 1: the Undercover Boss episode one time at Churchill Uh No,
- 11:44Speaker 1: this was I believe up in Chicago when our arlington
- 11:48Speaker 1: will still open. I think it was Chicago. But well,
- 11:52Speaker 1: I'll have to look that up during the break. But yeah,
- 11:54Speaker 1: Bill Carstandians, the CEO of all of Churchill Downs Incorporated,
- 11:59Speaker 1: did didn't Undercover Boss? It was really good? Yeah, I
- 12:03Speaker 1: I just remembered that. But yeah, here we go with more.
- 12:07Speaker 1: No wonder nobody listens to the show because of the
- 12:09Speaker 1: fact that we talk about the most random stuff. I
- 12:14Speaker 1: think people just start clicking. It's like, oh my gosh,
- 12:17Speaker 1: here goes Bend again. I'm out of here. What's our
- 12:19Speaker 1: job every morning, Michael?
- 12:21Speaker 4: Uh?
- 12:23Speaker 1: For you, for you and I to talk and have
- 12:25Speaker 1: a good time. That's that's my job right there. I
- 12:28Speaker 1: want it to be entertaining, is our job? Yeah? Yes, however,
- 12:32Speaker 1: we got to entertain for two hours. I never know
- 12:35Speaker 1: if I'm entertaining or not. I'm entertaining myself, that's for certain,
- 12:38Speaker 1: because I love talking to you. But whatever, I'll stop
- 12:43Speaker 1: right there. Let me just I know, please thank you,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but yeah, we we do have uh I do have
- 12:51Speaker 1: some fun things I want to talk about today, but
- 12:54Speaker 1: I think the big one today is uh Malachi because
- 13:01Speaker 1: something came up yesterday by Yahoo's sports beat writer Kevin O'Connor.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Do you know Kevin O'Connor, don't think so? Okay, Kevin
- 13:12Speaker 1: came out with his mock draft and it's the first
- 13:17Speaker 1: time that somebody has put down Malachi ahead of Jaden
- 13:23Speaker 1: Quaintans whoa So now he has Malachi as the twenty
- 13:30Speaker 1: third pick, ahead of Jaden Quaintan's who's right behind him
- 13:33Speaker 1: at number twenty four, And I'm thinking, Okay, now it's
- 13:38Speaker 1: completely official. I felt I felt pretty confident Malachi was
- 13:44Speaker 1: coming back to the UK, But now that I'm seeing
- 13:47Speaker 1: stuff like this, and I would have to say, Kevin
- 13:50Speaker 1: O'Connor is not the only person that's done this. There's
- 13:54Speaker 1: another person that has come up with his own mock
- 13:57Speaker 1: draft right now for the NBA draft coming up. And
- 14:00Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, this is something to be concerned about.
- 14:05Speaker 1: And if Malachi does not come back to Kentucky, then
- 14:10Speaker 1: I'm afraid that all this uh man, I hate to
- 14:13Speaker 1: say it. I'm not going to say it. I gotta
- 14:15Speaker 1: stay positive. Okay, that's my goal this year. I gotta
- 14:18Speaker 1: stay positive. If I am worried.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Spin zone, what if Malachi stays in but you get
- 14:24Speaker 3: Jake to come back.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Jake's not coming back and no offense to Jade and
- 14:29Speaker 1: Quainton's I'm not sure I would want him to come
- 14:32Speaker 1: back really well. I mean, yes, I can tell you
- 14:38Speaker 1: right now because there's no injury prone. Yeah, that's that's
- 14:41Speaker 1: easy for me. But I mean he's got a whole
- 14:43Speaker 1: off season heal well, so and so did he last
- 14:48Speaker 1: year too. He had the whole officeries and get ready
- 14:50Speaker 1: and none of it ever worked. I that's a great question.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I think that would be a fun poll if if
- 14:58Speaker 1: you had the opportunity, which player. I think there's more
- 15:01Speaker 1: upside with Malachi moreno, than there is with Jayden quaint
- 15:05Speaker 1: there's with Jayden Quainton's. Yes, you, the upside is there
- 15:08Speaker 1: right now, but the injury part bothers me. He's still
- 15:12Speaker 1: saying he's only at ninety five percent, so there's still
- 15:16Speaker 1: problems there.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I think the upside with Jake he is way higher
- 15:20Speaker 3: than Malachi.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Well, uh, with the mock draft, they're telling you differently.
- 15:25Speaker 1: That these teams would rather have Malachy Moreno. I just
- 15:30Speaker 1: think year two Malachy Moreno is probably equivalent of Jaden
- 15:35Speaker 1: Quainton's right now.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Except for he's like, what seventy pounds lighter?
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yes, but I think that changes. But you don't think
- 15:45Speaker 1: he can put some weight on. They can, but not, okay,
- 15:48Speaker 1: not up to the level of Jake. You know, Oh,
- 15:50Speaker 1: there's an age difference there, of course not. But one year?
- 15:55Speaker 1: Is it? One year? I thought there was more. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: thought there was a couple of years, okay, when last
- 15:59Speaker 1: year just Jake technically it was. You're right about that,
- 16:03Speaker 1: so it is okay, But you know what in horses
- 16:06Speaker 1: that that one year makes a big difference. That doesn't
- 16:08Speaker 1: it make it in humans too? I don't know. But
- 16:12Speaker 1: all right, so you think that Malachi is not as
- 16:16Speaker 1: good a comeback as if Jaden Quaintons Jaane Quainton's not
- 16:19Speaker 1: coming back though, I'm just telling you, right, there's no
- 16:22Speaker 1: way he's.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I don't think he is either. And if if you
- 16:25Speaker 3: don't get Malachi back either, that's I'm kind of with you.
- 16:29Speaker 3: That becomes an issue. It becomes a big issue.
- 16:33Speaker 1: So at this point a big issue because you don't. Yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and then what do you do there? So what does
- 16:39Speaker 1: Mark Pope do there? I just I saw that and
- 16:42Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, now I'm really getting worried, and I
- 16:44Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know what to do at this
- 16:46Speaker 1: point as far as how I feel, how the team
- 16:50Speaker 1: will turn out, start next season, come up with November.
- 16:54Speaker 3: What would you do if.
- 16:55Speaker 1: You were Malachi?
- 16:58Speaker 3: Yeah, let's say you got a guarantee early twenty twenties,
- 17:02Speaker 3: what would you do?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Go? Yeah, listen, if you're in the first round, I mean,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I don't see how you don't go. I mean, if
- 17:13Speaker 1: you're in the second round, you stay. You take that
- 17:18Speaker 1: risk because you know, if you can play one more year,
- 17:20Speaker 1: there's an opportunity for you to become a lottery pick.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Then that's you know, it's generational money right there. But
- 17:26Speaker 1: if you're in the first round, you go prove yourself
- 17:28Speaker 1: and you take that money and run. I just I
- 17:30Speaker 1: don't see how you can't do you?
- 17:32Speaker 3: No, I agree with you on thousand.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Yeah, So I think that, Yeah, if if he's going
- 17:37Speaker 1: to be somewhere right around that twenty three, twenty four,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I think Malachi stays.
- 17:43Speaker 3: We'll see. Now that's problematic.
- 17:45Speaker 1: If so, well, it's it's more than that. It's even worse.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Uh Otega, that's the one. I'm kinda man. It'd be
- 17:53Speaker 1: nice if he came back one more year, but right
- 17:55Speaker 1: now they have him second round as a twenty third
- 17:58Speaker 1: pick going to I think it was a Knicks if
- 18:02Speaker 1: I remember correctly, But I mean, god, it'd be fun
- 18:08Speaker 1: to have him one more year.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Isn't that crazy that he was SEC preseason Player of
- 18:12Speaker 3: the Year and now he's gonna go in the second
- 18:15Speaker 3: deep in the second round.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, A lot of it has the questions with
- 18:20Speaker 1: a shooting ball control, a lot of that kind of stuff.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But you know, I would take a risk on Otaga
- 18:26Speaker 1: without a doubt. I would love having Otaga. I would
- 18:29Speaker 1: take a risk on Malachi. I would if I was
- 18:34Speaker 1: the general manager or head coach. I would want Malachi
- 18:37Speaker 1: over Jaden Quaintans. And you're not that way, are you?
- 18:42Speaker 1: So you would risk the injury over a fresh player
- 18:50Speaker 1: like Malachi that.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Just because I think the upside is a lot higher
- 18:55Speaker 3: with Jaq. That's it, I mean, And he's honestly, I know.
- 18:59Speaker 3: They don't hang in the post anymore like they used
- 19:02Speaker 3: to in the NBA, which, yes, that's where Jake Q
- 19:04Speaker 3: could make a lot of his money in the NBA.
- 19:07Speaker 3: So I don't know how his game would translate. But
- 19:09Speaker 3: he can shoot too, right, didn't he didn't He shoot
- 19:12Speaker 3: mid range shots, threes occasionally.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 3: So I mean, look, at the end of the day,
- 19:18Speaker 3: if you were to tell me that Malachi goes on
- 19:21Speaker 3: to have a better NBA career, does that necessarily shock me? No,
- 19:25Speaker 3: But at this juncture, I would think j Q would
- 19:27Speaker 3: would have the bigger shot to have a better NBA.
- 19:30Speaker 1: You and I disagree on that. I mean, I'm really
- 19:33Speaker 1: kind of surprised you're more down on Malachi than I am.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And I'm really kind of surprised by that, well just
- 19:39Speaker 1: that it's a negative, but I just me, I'm convinced
- 19:44Speaker 1: of it. I would take Malachi way over Jaden On
- 19:47Speaker 1: that way over, but over Jadon Quayen's without hesitation.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I just other than the buzzer beater at LSU, I
- 19:52Speaker 3: don't know what Malachi brings to the table in terms
- 19:54Speaker 3: of his shooting. Now, if he can, if he does
- 19:56Speaker 3: come back and he shows the ability to hit those
- 19:59Speaker 3: mid range shots, potentially step beyond the perimeter and knock
- 20:02Speaker 3: those down somewhat consistently. Then at that point I'll probably
- 20:05Speaker 3: feel a little bit better about Malachi moving forward in
- 20:08Speaker 3: his NBA career.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Okay, that's fair enough. I understand. I'm just going to
- 20:12Speaker 1: disagree with you right there. So anyway, we gotta take
- 20:15Speaker 1: our first break. Five O two three four fourteen fifty.
- 20:17Speaker 1: You want to call in five O two four one
- 20:19Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty. You want to text me on the
- 20:21Speaker 1: Whiskey Thief text line. We'll get to those text as
- 20:23Speaker 1: soon as we get back, or you tweet me just
- 20:25Speaker 1: cat radio, stay right there. We got a lot more
- 20:27Speaker 1: to go. I feel so close to you right now.
- 20:31Speaker 3: It's a postal, a wab my.
- 20:38Speaker 1: My steed like a big deal. Youll fos down on me.
- 20:45Speaker 4: So I want them.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Open up the chimpag pocket my house, come on, turn
- 20:56Speaker 2: it up, even knock on the door and the night beat.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Good. Put me on this before so you've ca him holding.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Make yourself from a home to me where you've been
- 21:12Speaker 2: put yourself something cold and its.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Two fabo two three four fourteen fifty. If you want
- 21:18Speaker 1: to call in, or you can text me on the
- 21:20Speaker 1: Whiskey Thief text line. Fabo two four one four fourteen
- 21:23Speaker 1: fifty uh forty eight. Hanley said, Danny Gargan grew up
- 21:27Speaker 1: just blocks from Churchill. His father, late father was a jockey.
- 21:31Speaker 1: He was telling me about that. He also told me
- 21:33Speaker 1: he's good friends with Tale Romans. I had a lot
- 21:35Speaker 1: of fun talking to him about that, and uh, he's
- 21:38Speaker 1: a really nice guy. Enjoyed talking to him. But one
- 21:42Speaker 1: person said, uh, you always take Malachaia over quaintance. Quaintance
- 21:47Speaker 1: is a new age greg Odin. Putting Malachai ahead of
- 21:50Speaker 1: Shadon in the mock draft is click bait there, That's
- 21:56Speaker 1: that's what you say. Okay, it's clickbait. You're not even
- 22:01Speaker 1: listening to me. But all right, five O two three
- 22:04Speaker 1: eight four fourteen fifty. Who's on the line.
- 22:07Speaker 3: We got John? Oh? Sorry, we got John?
- 22:10Speaker 1: John? How you doing?
- 22:11Speaker 4: John oh Man? Just id on copy off of you, Michael.
- 22:17Speaker 4: But just living the best.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Day of my life. I like hearing that.
- 22:21Speaker 4: You say that, trying to We're all at work, aren't we,
- 22:26Speaker 4: So it's got to be a good day if we
- 22:27Speaker 4: have some type of way to make some money. That's
- 22:32Speaker 4: what I believe.
- 22:33Speaker 1: But okay, good, well, I don't it's not coming through
- 22:36Speaker 1: my headphones. But anyway, Okay, I'm glad it's the greatest
- 22:39Speaker 1: day of your life. I appreciate that. So what's happening
- 22:42Speaker 1: over in Evansville, John.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Uh, not much. They're gearing up for some events and
- 22:49Speaker 4: stuff coming up. I think in June we have shrine Fest.
- 22:52Speaker 4: I'm a shriner and we will have shrine Fest down
- 22:55Speaker 4: airs that's gonna be over by the Hollow River and
- 22:57Speaker 4: stuff like that. Of course, you know in July you
- 22:59Speaker 4: got the big fireworks and all that, so you know,
- 23:01Speaker 4: little things like some stuff that's having fun.
- 23:03Speaker 1: So I appreciate you telling me that. I kind of meant,
- 23:06Speaker 1: what did you have on your mind? But tell us
- 23:09Speaker 1: all about Evansville, e Vinca that's happening this summer. You
- 23:12Speaker 1: never know, I might come over there and join you.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Hey, you should definitely come down, and you come down,
- 23:19Speaker 4: I'll make sure you have, you know, some fun, good
- 23:21Speaker 4: places to go eat. We'll do something together.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Justin I kind of like the sound of that. We
- 23:26Speaker 1: should figure something out. I'm in Yeah, okay, good, Justin
- 23:30Speaker 1: and I will be over there at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
- 23:32Speaker 1: What can we do? I'm just I'm just kidding.
- 23:38Speaker 4: It might be an Otters game. We can go to
- 23:40Speaker 4: go watch those Evansville Otters play.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Now, you know you say that I would do that.
- 23:46Speaker 1: You you include baseball, especially at Evansville's baseball park. Uh,
- 23:50Speaker 1: what's it. It's called Bossy Is that what it's called?
- 23:54Speaker 4: Yeah, Bossy, I call it Bossy Field. Yeah, that's what
- 23:57Speaker 4: the sign says.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I listen. I love that stadium. I think it's
- 24:03Speaker 1: a really cool stadium. But all right, what's on your mind? John?
- 24:07Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, So okay, you're talking about Malachi and of
- 24:12Speaker 4: course we gotta throw Melovich in there. But there's another
- 24:14Speaker 4: guy we got to go with. Ryan Hampton, RJ. Hampton's brother.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Now he's getting a lot of steam right now. In
- 24:21Speaker 4: the twenty twenty seven class to reclassify to play basketball
- 24:24Speaker 4: this year for college, Memphis is in the mix. Kentucky's
- 24:28Speaker 4: in the mix. There's some other schools in the mix there.
- 24:30Speaker 4: I think I think I heard Texas. Maybe I might
- 24:33Speaker 4: be misspeaking with them being in the mix, but there
- 24:35Speaker 4: was quite a few schools. His dad told I think
- 24:39Speaker 4: someone over at one of the other Kentucky stations, at
- 24:42Speaker 4: a reporter that they asked him who was in the lead,
- 24:44Speaker 4: you know, who's how much money has been thrown and
- 24:47Speaker 4: he said take a guess, you know, and walked away.
- 24:50Speaker 4: So I think when he says that we already know
- 24:52Speaker 4: who the big money guy is, which is Kentucky at
- 24:54Speaker 4: that table, I think Kentucky's the biggest money at that table.
- 24:58Speaker 4: That kid is sitting between three and and at twenty
- 25:01Speaker 4: twenty seven class. He's listed somewhere at a small forward.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Could be a combo type guard, but he's not really
- 25:07Speaker 4: you know, he's a raw talent. He's going to be
- 25:11Speaker 4: really super athletic. So I'm thinking, here's your thing. You've
- 25:14Speaker 4: got two spots left on this roster, and you've got Malachi,
- 25:18Speaker 4: Melevich and now Hampton, And with them making so much
- 25:22Speaker 4: of a big push and their name being so mentioned
- 25:25Speaker 4: with Hampton, I got a feeling somewhere between Melevich and
- 25:30Speaker 4: moreno one of them are not happening, and that's because
- 25:35Speaker 4: they're pushing Hampton. And so I think your money is
- 25:39Speaker 4: to say, you're getting Malachi and Melevich, or you're getting
- 25:43Speaker 4: Malachi and Hampton, or you're getting you get what I'm saying,
- 25:46Speaker 4: you're getting two of these three people were listing Obviously
- 25:48Speaker 4: you're not gonna go three because they won't money don't
- 25:50Speaker 4: add up. But I'm telling you put Ryan Hampton on
- 25:54Speaker 4: your watch list now because I think he reclassifies. I
- 25:57Speaker 4: think he plays for Kentucky, the big dog that wanted him,
- 26:01Speaker 4: and I think they're going to throw a pretty big
- 26:03Speaker 4: bank at him. So I think he reclassifies. I think
- 26:06Speaker 4: he pays for Kentucky. So that's there you go. That's
- 26:09Speaker 4: what I think happens. I think if you don't get Moreno,
- 26:11Speaker 4: you get mellowch and Hampton, you're still You're still in
- 26:13Speaker 4: the good works. You're fine. If you get Moreno and Hampton,
- 26:16Speaker 4: you're good. So just take a little deep breath. I
- 26:19Speaker 4: kind of pulled back from this, Michael, but you brought
- 26:21Speaker 4: me back in. Justin could tell you probably the last
- 26:24Speaker 4: few texts in his show I haven't really mentioned in anything.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I've been waiting until the twenty seventh, which is the
- 26:30Speaker 4: deadline date we all got to wait for, trying to
- 26:32Speaker 4: let the chips, you know, fall where they lay, and
- 26:34Speaker 4: just let it run out the stress level going out
- 26:36Speaker 4: the door, coach Pope, and then will get this done
- 26:39Speaker 4: with two of those three players we mentioned. I believe
- 26:42Speaker 4: it's going to happen, So we'll see who they get.
- 26:47Speaker 1: You know, when I when I hear you talk our text,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I always think, my goodness, John, you you are the
- 26:55Speaker 1: most positive person out there between you and J. D. Shelburn.
- 26:59Speaker 1: And look at this and think, okay, uh uh. If
- 27:03Speaker 1: if all of that happens and we get either Ryan
- 27:08Speaker 1: Hampton and or Mama Mamo Vic, how do you say,
- 27:13Speaker 1: are killing thank you? Uh? Who are you feeling better about?
- 27:18Speaker 1: And then if they get none of them, and Malachi stays,
- 27:22Speaker 1: how are you feeling? That's two different questions right there.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, if they if they don't get the other
- 27:29Speaker 4: two and they get morenos, they're gonna have to go
- 27:32Speaker 4: to the EuroLeague somewhere there. I don't care where they go.
- 27:35Speaker 4: They'll have to go to the And then it sounds
- 27:37Speaker 4: bad as a Kentucky fan. They'll have to go to
- 27:39Speaker 4: every YMC YMC A league they can find to find
- 27:42Speaker 4: another guy. That's just I hate to sound like that,
- 27:45Speaker 4: but they're gonna have to fill out this roster all
- 27:47Speaker 4: the way. And Mark Pope, coach Pope knows this like
- 27:50Speaker 4: there's no sugarcoat, and he's got to fill out the roster.
- 27:53Speaker 4: They're going to fill out the roster, and uh tell JD.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Schouburn if he wants to do a pot as called
- 28:00Speaker 4: the Kentucky Positivity Podcast or some work game, because you
- 28:04Speaker 4: know what, you know what, Michael, the reality is it's
- 28:08Speaker 4: gonna be positive because it's gonna become a reality. And
- 28:12Speaker 4: like you said, if they don't get one or two,
- 28:16Speaker 4: guess what, Michael, even if they didn't get in all three,
- 28:18Speaker 4: then Coach Pope better get on the You better get
- 28:20Speaker 4: on his bus, better get on his plane, better get
- 28:22Speaker 4: on the train, better go do something. You better go
- 28:25Speaker 4: to every G League game you can. You better go
- 28:27Speaker 4: to every overseas game you can, and you better find
- 28:29Speaker 4: two players. If not, yeah, you're on an extreme hot seat.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Now you'll be on extreme hot seat if that roster
- 28:35Speaker 4: doesn't get filled and we don't have a competitive roster.
- 28:38Speaker 4: I'm a very positive guy. But Michael, I'm telling you,
- 28:40Speaker 4: and Justin I'm telling you. If he doesn't pull it through,
- 28:44Speaker 4: then I'm right there with everybody else saying, Okay, let's
- 28:46Speaker 4: see the results of the games. Because if the results
- 28:48Speaker 4: of the games match what you just did not do
- 28:51Speaker 4: for this roster, then I'm sorry. My friend, you have
- 28:54Speaker 4: to go, but I don't think that's gonna happen. Right.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I appreciate John good talking to you. I always love
- 29:00Speaker 1: talking and hearing from your perspective, justin what are your thoughts.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I mean, this is something that it's a big concern. Sometimes.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I kind of feel like Mark Pope just kinda he
- 29:12Speaker 1: doesn't let all his show all his cards. I think
- 29:15Speaker 1: that's the best way to describe it. Is that fair?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Do you think that's the case or do you think
- 29:20Speaker 1: he lets everything be known? This year, it seems like
- 29:22Speaker 1: he's been kind of quiet on a lot of the recruits.
- 29:25Speaker 1: He's looking at or.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Very much very I mean, that's why I think the
- 29:30Speaker 3: program is where it is, because you're just you have
- 29:32Speaker 3: all these these secrets that you're not spilling to the
- 29:35Speaker 3: media and you're just not talking anywhere. So yeah, I
- 29:38Speaker 3: do think he holds his cards close to the vest.
- 29:40Speaker 3: But in the situation John brought up, I truly believe
- 29:44Speaker 3: that mom Chilovich would be the one left out in
- 29:46Speaker 3: that scenario. But here's the deal. We have concentrated on
- 29:50Speaker 3: mam Chilovitch for what a month maybe two now, thinking
- 29:54Speaker 3: that there's ties to Kentucky and that maybe he's gonna
- 29:58Speaker 3: come on join the fold. There are other guys that
- 30:02Speaker 3: have their name in the draft right now that are
- 30:04Speaker 3: also going to hop out. So while I don't agree
- 30:07Speaker 3: with John's assessment of you got to go to the
- 30:09Speaker 3: local YMCA's or g leagues to find your next talent,
- 30:13Speaker 3: that's not the case. Just link yourself with a guy
- 30:15Speaker 3: that you think potentially could be coming out of the draft,
- 30:18Speaker 3: like a Mom Jilovich. It doesn't necessarily have to beat
- 30:21Speaker 3: him because there are going to be other options there.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Well, and I believe what you're saying, but I do
- 30:30Speaker 1: get really concerned when we hear nothing, and I think
- 30:33Speaker 1: that's why a lot of the fan base, and this
- 30:35Speaker 1: is why I'm hearing from the UK that listen, Coach
- 30:40Speaker 1: Pope will come on with you after the team roster
- 30:45Speaker 1: is set. And that's where I'm like, Okay, I appreciate that.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I can respect that because he don't want to get
- 30:50Speaker 1: on here and then start talking about anything that might
- 30:54Speaker 1: not come to fruition. I like the fact that he's
- 30:56Speaker 1: not doing any kind of big interviews right now. Wait
- 31:01Speaker 1: till it's complete, Wait till the roster is complete. Then
- 31:04Speaker 1: he can address all the questions a lot of the
- 31:06Speaker 1: media members have because and the fan base. I mean,
- 31:09Speaker 1: I think the fan base has more questions than the
- 31:14Speaker 1: media does. And respect to him for doing this, I
- 31:18Speaker 1: mean that's got to be the hardest thing because you know,
- 31:22Speaker 1: all Mark Pope has done since he got to UK,
- 31:24Speaker 1: He's talked about everything open book in a positive way,
- 31:29Speaker 1: and the fact that he really hasn't been an open
- 31:32Speaker 1: book this recruiting season since the season stop what was
- 31:36Speaker 1: it last March? I kind of like this, I mean,
- 31:42Speaker 1: and maybe it turns out. We'll just have to see
- 31:44Speaker 1: what happens.
- 31:45Speaker 3: I mean, it is. It kind of is a lot
- 31:47Speaker 3: like sports media, right, Like I agree with him not
- 31:51Speaker 3: talking about it because there really is no point to
- 31:53Speaker 3: talk about it. And if we didn't have to fill
- 31:55Speaker 3: two hours every single day, heck, we probably wouldn't talk
- 31:58Speaker 3: about it because the fact of the matter is we
- 32:00Speaker 3: don't know how this is all gonna shake out. So
- 32:03Speaker 3: we talk about it because we have to fill content.
- 32:06Speaker 3: But if we didn't have to, I don't think that
- 32:09Speaker 3: we'd be discussing the roster and now it's all gonna
- 32:11Speaker 3: shake out next year?
- 32:12Speaker 1: Yeah, because we don't know at this point, we don't know,
- 32:16Speaker 1: But when we do know, guess what, I'm hoping he
- 32:19Speaker 1: does all kinds of radio shows, including this one. In
- 32:22Speaker 1: that way we can talk. Okay, how what was it
- 32:24Speaker 1: like in this offseason knowing the fan base was really
- 32:28Speaker 1: ready to cut your throat and look for another coach.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I mean that had to be very difficult on him.
- 32:35Speaker 3: I mean, look what Will Stein's done this offseason? Right,
- 32:38Speaker 3: look at the ridiculously hard schedule coming up for Kentucky football.
- 32:43Speaker 3: That doesn't matter. Everybody's excited because Will Stein's went around
- 32:47Speaker 3: and done all these shows and done all these interviews,
- 32:49Speaker 3: and he's talking to everybody, and that's built the excitement
- 32:53Speaker 3: up from the fan base. So I think you're right.
- 32:55Speaker 3: If Mark Pope gets this roster finalized and he does
- 32:58Speaker 3: something similar, I think it could build up some goodwill
- 33:02Speaker 3: to fans, media, you name it. I think it could
- 33:05Speaker 3: be a positive for Mark Pope.
- 33:06Speaker 1: So, okay, then let me ask ask you this question. Then,
- 33:10Speaker 1: do you like how Will Stein has gone around and
- 33:14Speaker 1: done all kinds of radio shows or do you like
- 33:18Speaker 1: Mark Pope not doing any radio show or interviews until
- 33:23Speaker 1: his roster is complete. Which way would you prefer? Or
- 33:26Speaker 1: do you think Mark Pope should have come on shows
- 33:28Speaker 1: and talked about what his plan is.
- 33:30Speaker 3: No, I mean it's different situations to me. Right, Like
- 33:33Speaker 3: will Stein's got his roster together, he knows who's going
- 33:36Speaker 3: to be on his team next year. It's all for
- 33:39Speaker 3: the most part set in stone on who's gonna be playing,
- 33:42Speaker 3: what position and all that. Whereas Mark Pope, like I
- 33:44Speaker 3: just said, they don't have a whole roster. So it's
- 33:46Speaker 3: almost it's almost a moot point going out and then
- 33:49Speaker 3: talking to the media about what could be this upcoming
- 33:52Speaker 3: season when you yourself have no idea.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well we got to take another break.
- 33:57Speaker 1: But when we come back, we are going to talk
- 33:59Speaker 1: about another addition that's going to happen today. I keep
- 34:03Speaker 1: hearing really good reports. This young man is another four
- 34:07Speaker 1: star is joining will Stein in UK football. We'll talk
- 34:10Speaker 1: about that and then shake gilgess Man. He's spreading the
- 34:14Speaker 1: love to all his players. We we have to talk
- 34:16Speaker 1: about that as well. My goodness, the money he just
- 34:19Speaker 1: spent to thank his players. We'll talk about that. Fable
- 34:22Speaker 1: two three four fourteen fifty. If you want to call
- 34:24Speaker 1: in Fable two four one four fourteen fifty, you want
- 34:27Speaker 1: to text in text line is kind of slow today.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Let's get to it, guys. I'd like to hear from you.
- 34:32Speaker 1: We'll be right back. This is just a cat welcome
- 34:38Speaker 1: we cave.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Show me.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Two s Babbo two three four fourteen fifty. If you
- 35:23Speaker 1: want to call in Fablo two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 35:26Speaker 1: If you want to text in on the Whisky Thief
- 35:28Speaker 1: text line. One person said the most famous optimist was
- 35:31Speaker 1: Norman Vincent Peel John is climbing up the ladder.
- 35:36Speaker 3: That's high praise.
- 35:37Speaker 1: That is high praise. I mean I saw that and
- 35:41Speaker 1: I'm like, wow, that's something else. All right. I do
- 35:43Speaker 1: want to talk about some of the NBA games last
- 35:46Speaker 1: night as I don't but I don't know if you
- 35:49Speaker 1: saw this or not. Did you see where Shay Gilgess
- 35:53Speaker 1: Alexander spent upwards of half a million dollars on gifts
- 35:58Speaker 1: for his teammates. What do you get them to thank
- 36:02Speaker 1: him for the MVP, which is kind of cool that
- 36:07Speaker 1: he award that he won. Uh So, here is what
- 36:10Speaker 1: he got them for a half a million dollars. A watch.
- 36:18Speaker 1: That's one of the things. Are you It's called a
- 36:22Speaker 1: paget Royal oak offshore watch. Okay, so you know every
- 36:28Speaker 1: basketball player that lives in Oklahoma City needs an offshore watch.
- 36:34Speaker 1: You know that, don't you? Are you ready for how much?
- 36:37Speaker 1: One watch was? Two thirty thousand dollars? Really? Okay? Would
- 36:45Speaker 1: you buy me one please? Because I would love I
- 36:47Speaker 1: don't know what it is.
- 36:49Speaker 3: If I had three hundred million in my bank account,
- 36:51Speaker 3: I absolutely.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Would What what what is an offshore watch? That's my question.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I have no idea what that He bought him Burberry,
- 37:00Speaker 1: French coats, brand new iPhones, PXG, golf clubs and golf bags.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Wow?
- 37:08Speaker 1: Is PXG nice? I don't know much about that brand? Okay.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I was wondering when I saw PXG and I'm like, okay,
- 37:15Speaker 1: is that good? But I'm not familiar with that. So
- 37:18Speaker 1: he did all of this thanking his teammates for winning
- 37:22Speaker 1: his second and I thought that was pretty cool gesture.
- 37:25Speaker 1: But you know, that's when that's when you gotta be
- 37:28Speaker 1: careful man, because you start spending a half a million
- 37:31Speaker 1: dollars on gifts. It's nice, but that's when you go
- 37:35Speaker 1: through your money and you don't have your money anymore.
- 37:38Speaker 1: You wake up in ten years like, oops, maybe I
- 37:40Speaker 1: shouldn't have bought all those gifts. It's a nice gesture
- 37:44Speaker 1: to me. All right, what if if I had all
- 37:48Speaker 1: that money and you and I made pretty good money
- 37:50Speaker 1: doing radio, what would be a nice gift that you
- 37:54Speaker 1: would appreciate? What a dollar figure wise, that you would
- 37:57Speaker 1: appreciate that was really nicely you do even though you
- 38:00Speaker 1: knew I was making all kinds of money, But you're
- 38:03Speaker 1: making all kinds of money too, because you know what,
- 38:05Speaker 1: we're both radio greats. Don't you think spending maybe one
- 38:10Speaker 1: thousand dollars would be really nice?
- 38:13Speaker 3: Heck, I'm good with one hundred You kidding me exactly. Heck,
- 38:17Speaker 3: the first year we did our show, on my birthday,
- 38:19Speaker 3: you brought me a Indiana sweater and a co and
- 38:26Speaker 3: that was probably eighty ninety bucks. And I was very
- 38:28Speaker 3: appreciative of that.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Okay, So I mean that's when I see that. Listen,
- 38:33Speaker 1: it's very nice what shay Gil just did. But then
- 38:36Speaker 1: when I see that kind of spending, I think, man,
- 38:39Speaker 1: please be careful with your money. That's the first thing
- 38:42Speaker 1: that comes out of my mind. If when I start
- 38:44Speaker 1: seeing these players spend that time.
- 38:46Speaker 3: If you are a professional athlete today and you do
- 38:50Speaker 3: not have a financial advisor. That is mistake number one, Right,
- 38:55Speaker 3: you have got to have a financial person in your
- 38:58Speaker 3: life to manage your expend and says to take I
- 39:01Speaker 3: would here's how I would do it. If I had
- 39:04Speaker 3: Shay's money. Let's just say he's got three two hundred
- 39:08Speaker 3: and fifty million, three hundred million. I'm taking fifty million
- 39:11Speaker 3: of that and I'm saying here and I'm giving it
- 39:14Speaker 3: to my financial advisor, and I'm gonna say, this is
- 39:17Speaker 3: your money to watch over. Whatever you need to do
- 39:20Speaker 3: with it to make to make it grow, then then
- 39:23Speaker 3: do that, and the rest of it's just going to
- 39:25Speaker 3: be play money. I'm I'm gonna play with the.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Rest of it. Well, that's that's the first rule. And
- 39:30Speaker 1: you're absolutely correct. So every college athlete out there, I'm
- 39:34Speaker 1: hoping UK tells them, not makes a suggestion, but tells
- 39:40Speaker 1: them here you the the like a list of things
- 39:45Speaker 1: that you should do when you start making this kind
- 39:47Speaker 1: of money. Number one, and don't suggest it. UK should
- 39:52Speaker 1: not be in the business of suggesting, because you know,
- 39:54Speaker 1: there's all kinds of shisers out there that are financial advisors,
- 39:57Speaker 1: but then there are all kinds that are really good.
- 40:01Speaker 1: They should say here is the first thing you need
- 40:04Speaker 1: to do. Go find a financial advisor. Don't give them
- 40:07Speaker 1: here's who you need to go talk to you because
- 40:09Speaker 1: you know there's some big booster out there as well.
- 40:11Speaker 1: I'll give them all kinds of money if as long
- 40:13Speaker 1: as you suggest me as the financial advisor. Now that's
- 40:16Speaker 1: not the thing you want to do. Give them a list.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Here's what you want to do. You need to get insurance,
- 40:21Speaker 1: you need to do all kinds of stuff. But number one,
- 40:24Speaker 1: you're right, get a financial advisor. But number two should
- 40:28Speaker 1: be listen to the financial advisor. As long as you
- 40:32Speaker 1: trust them, you need to listen to them. And when
- 40:34Speaker 1: that financial advisor says you do you can't spend that
- 40:37Speaker 1: kind of money, then you need to have that kind
- 40:39Speaker 1: of discipline and not spend that kind of money. Just
- 40:42Speaker 1: like at these auctions I'm at. You got to have
- 40:44Speaker 1: that discipline. It's like, this is how much I'll spend.
- 40:48Speaker 1: If it goes over that, guess what I'm done. And
- 40:51Speaker 1: it's hard to do. So when you get that first
- 40:54Speaker 1: big paycheck, it's hard not to spend. That's why that's
- 40:58Speaker 1: why I think the law is so bad. It has
- 41:01Speaker 1: made people very wealthy. But has also made people go
- 41:05Speaker 1: broke too, because they get out there and they don't
- 41:08Speaker 1: have that discipline to say, I can't spend the money
- 41:11Speaker 1: I need to save it's it's it is hard to do.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Just because you think people have money doesn't mean that's
- 41:18Speaker 1: the greatest thing they've ever had. But uh, how about
- 41:21Speaker 1: Wimby last night? Did you watch that game to finish?
- 41:26Speaker 1: I stayed up that did you really? Yeah? I did
- 41:28Speaker 1: not stay till the finish, but man, I kind of
- 41:31Speaker 1: regret I've gone back to watch it. But he was
- 41:33Speaker 1: making some unbelievable How tall is he is? He seven?
- 41:38Speaker 1: He is seven to four. Did you see that three
- 41:40Speaker 1: pointer he shot.
- 41:41Speaker 3: From the logo?
- 41:42Speaker 1: Yes? I go that guys. He really is.
- 41:48Speaker 3: He He had probably three or four dunks in the
- 41:52Speaker 3: game last night where he would catch the pass, yeah,
- 41:56Speaker 3: dunk it in the same notion, and it was just
- 41:59Speaker 3: it's fast, the things that he can do out there.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Well, not only that, it seems like it would be
- 42:04Speaker 1: a really bad pass and his back was against the rim,
- 42:08Speaker 1: so he would just kind of go over his head
- 42:10Speaker 1: and put it in the basket. I just the guy
- 42:13Speaker 1: is amazing. Now I'm beginning to see because I haven't
- 42:16Speaker 1: watched much San Antonio games, but now I can see
- 42:19Speaker 1: why a lot of people are looking at Well, why
- 42:22Speaker 1: wasn't he the MVP? Now he's proven it to Oklahoma City.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Right now, I'm to the point I think San Antonio
- 42:28Speaker 1: is going to beat Oklahoma.
- 42:30Speaker 3: That would be crazy. Why is that? Because? I mean, okay, see,
- 42:35Speaker 3: two straight years now has just been the runaway best
- 42:37Speaker 3: team in the league that have been I still think
- 42:40Speaker 3: they're the runaway best team in the league. But yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 3: San Antonio just provides some really unique matchup issues for them,
- 42:47Speaker 3: especially with Wimby.
- 42:49Speaker 1: And I can't help myself every time I see San
- 42:51Speaker 1: Antonio now I think at Charles Barkley, what it's in
- 42:55Speaker 1: my head? Come on, the big old women in San Antonio.
- 42:59Speaker 1: He is always made that reference about the big old women.
- 43:03Speaker 1: And now every time I see the spar, the Spurs,
- 43:05Speaker 1: the Spars, that's what I think of. I think about
- 43:08Speaker 1: Charles Barkley. And then in eating the Turos, he goes,
- 43:11Speaker 1: now I've seen the light. I mean, that's all I
- 43:13Speaker 1: can think of.
- 43:14Speaker 3: All I can think of is Monogenoble's bald spot in
- 43:17Speaker 3: the back of his head. It is big, isn't it
- 43:21Speaker 3: was pretty pretty gnarly.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I think he's actually bald now, but is he really?
- 43:25Speaker 1: He's he gone fullheaded? Came home, Yeah, he came home. Okay,
- 43:29Speaker 1: thank you, Nick Rouse. But yeah, that was a good game.
- 43:33Speaker 3: All right.
- 43:33Speaker 1: So prediction time, who do you think is gonna win
- 43:37Speaker 1: between San Antonio? I think you've kind of given it away.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Is Oklahoma City or San Antonio's first get to the finals.
- 43:44Speaker 3: I'm still gonna roll with Oklahoma City. The Spurs had
- 43:47Speaker 3: their number in the regular season, so there is something
- 43:49Speaker 3: to be said about the issues that they create for Okase,
- 43:53Speaker 3: But I'm gonna gonna continue to ride the best team
- 43:58Speaker 3: in the league. Now, if they lose game too it home,
- 44:00Speaker 3: I'm reserving the right to change my pit. But I
- 44:03Speaker 3: think they win that one. Go back.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Well, the Spurs one last night at Oklahoma City, so
- 44:08Speaker 1: I mean that's.
- 44:09Speaker 3: If they do it twice, then yeah, then I'm with you.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so you're still with Oklahoma I'm going with
- 44:16Speaker 1: the Spurs. All right. Let's talk about the East Conference Finals.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Is it going to be the Knicks or the Cavaliers?
- 44:23Speaker 1: And you know, we got to put up with all
- 44:25Speaker 1: the celebrities every time it seems like every time they're
- 44:29Speaker 1: in LA or they're in New York, all they want
- 44:32Speaker 1: to do is either show the game for a few
- 44:34Speaker 1: minutes and go to the front row and show all
- 44:36Speaker 1: the celebrities. I get so sick and tired of that.
- 44:38Speaker 1: It's like, why do we have to constantly show who's
- 44:41Speaker 1: sitting in the first two rows at a basketball game?
- 44:44Speaker 1: And all I want to do is watch the basketball game.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Does it irritate you as much as it irritates me?
- 44:48Speaker 4: No.
- 44:48Speaker 3: And it's one of the funniest things about you is
- 44:50Speaker 3: you hate when they show anybody in the crowd. I
- 44:53Speaker 3: do have never met anybody that hates that more. But
- 44:56Speaker 3: I like it. I'm always interested to see who the
- 44:59Speaker 3: celest are in attendance and who who's maybe taking time
- 45:03Speaker 3: out from their work to go check out other people's work.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I just I think it's great. I love it.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Okay, but you have the Knicks as much as Yeah, well,
- 45:14Speaker 1: why do you hate that? I'm all for the next
- 45:16Speaker 1: because I want Karl Anthony Towns to win it.
- 45:19Speaker 3: There's just something about the Knicks that I cannot stand.
- 45:22Speaker 3: I don't I can't put my finger on it. Really,
- 45:24Speaker 3: I do not like the Knicks. Okay, I'm going with
- 45:27Speaker 3: the Knicks.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Uh you got the Knicks, and uh you said Oklahoma City.
- 45:32Speaker 1: So if they make it both to the finals, who
- 45:34Speaker 1: you're going with?
- 45:35Speaker 3: Okay?
- 45:35Speaker 1: See, are you really as much as you can't stand
- 45:39Speaker 1: Shay Gill? Just Alexander? Oh? I thought you didn't like him?
- 45:44Speaker 3: I mean, I think he foulbates a lot, and I
- 45:46Speaker 3: don't enjoy really watching it, but I like sh.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Oh was it Matthew that didn't like Shaye? Oh? That's
- 45:52Speaker 1: what it was. I was, I was. I'm still mixing
- 45:54Speaker 1: that up. I'm sorry, so all right, sorry about that
- 45:58Speaker 1: trinking too much. I just had the biggest hiccup. I
- 46:02Speaker 1: don't know where that came from. I am so so sorry.
- 46:06Speaker 1: It's the beer coming up. But all right, when we
- 46:08Speaker 1: come back, we got our two coming up. We're gonna
- 46:12Speaker 1: talk about We're gonna talk about I don't know, hiccups.
- 46:16Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the new TBT formats and
- 46:20Speaker 1: I want to see if you like it. So, I mean,
- 46:21Speaker 1: it's gonna be a big segment we're gonna talk about.
- 46:24Speaker 1: I look forward to it. And of course uku this
- 46:26Speaker 1: whole uk U of L thing or it's gonna be
- 46:28Speaker 1: a lot of fun. So stay right there. Our two
- 46:32Speaker 1: coming right up. Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Fable two three four fourteen fifteen. You want to call
- 46:58Speaker 1: in Fable two four one four fourteen fifty. You want
- 47:00Speaker 1: to text in on the Whiskey Thief to text line,
- 47:03Speaker 1: or you can tweet me Just Cat Radio. Michelle texted
- 47:06Speaker 1: out saying PXG clubs are very nice, probably close to
- 47:11Speaker 1: around two grand. Yesh, wow, I told you how to
- 47:17Speaker 1: go buy golf clubs, he did. Do you remember how.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Go to some store here in Louisville and tell them
- 47:25Speaker 3: something and you get a good deal.
- 47:29Speaker 1: That's it, exactly. No, you wait till the season is
- 47:34Speaker 1: over and you go buy the pro shop demos. Yeah,
- 47:37Speaker 1: that's exactly what you do. That's the way I bought mine.
- 47:41Speaker 1: And you say, I don't know if I got them
- 47:44Speaker 1: for half price, but it was pretty close. And you
- 47:47Speaker 1: you can't tell that they're demos, you can't tell that
- 47:51Speaker 1: they're used. They look brand new, and they might be
- 47:54Speaker 1: a season old, but who cares it's a season old,
- 47:57Speaker 1: and you save all kinds of money.
- 47:58Speaker 3: I mean, better than my clubs that I've had since
- 48:00Speaker 3: two thousand and nine.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Probably, so yeah, is that what you'd like? Clubs? Okay,
- 48:10Speaker 1: I'll be right there.
- 48:10Speaker 3: You're doing Christmas gifts this year?
- 48:12Speaker 1: Keeping absolutely, I'll keep you in mind. Isn't that a song?
- 48:17Speaker 1: It seems like there's a song called.
- 48:18Speaker 3: Keep keep Me in Mind?
- 48:20Speaker 1: Oh that's right, that is it? Keep Me in Mind?
- 48:25Speaker 1: That sounds just like the I love that. That's a
- 48:28Speaker 1: nice song. You are a huge Zach Brown fam. I
- 48:31Speaker 1: forget that you are. But all right, well it's Tuesday,
- 48:34Speaker 1: and you know what that means, don't you promise me?
- 48:54Speaker 1: Worry Bryce, how are you doing on this Tuesday morning?
- 48:58Speaker 5: Doing?
- 48:58Speaker 1: Swell?
- 48:58Speaker 5: Mister Bennett? Ready for another great week? And I'm sure
- 49:03Speaker 5: you are too. And lovely Baltimore.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yes, I'm very excited about another day in Baltimore, Maryland
- 49:12Speaker 1: looking at dusty old horses all day long. So that's
- 49:15Speaker 1: that's my kind of deal. And who knows what kind
- 49:19Speaker 1: of crab I'll be eating a little later on today.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I don't think I'll get sick of it. But Corey,
- 49:23Speaker 1: are you a crab fan?
- 49:26Speaker 5: I'm not, but crab cakes and football that's what Maryland does.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Okay? Yeah, did I tell you about the reference? I
- 49:33Speaker 1: had yesterday justin I don't think so okay, So, Corey Price, yesterday,
- 49:38Speaker 1: I'm talking to these two younger people and I made
- 49:43Speaker 1: the comment that you know, crab cakes and football, that's
- 49:46Speaker 1: what Maryland does, and neither of them laughed and just
- 49:50Speaker 1: kind of stared at me. And I'm like, okay, I
- 49:53Speaker 1: feel old today after making that und I was like,
- 49:55Speaker 1: you've never watched wedding crashers? Have you? And they had
- 49:59Speaker 1: no I idea what I was talking about. Were they dudes?
- 50:03Speaker 1: One was a girl, one was a guy.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Oh you should have told the guy how great the
- 50:07Speaker 3: intro to that movie was.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Anita went and watched it probably, so I mean, yeah,
- 50:12Speaker 1: that's where the name of my show originated, just the tip.
- 50:17Speaker 1: But yeah, and it is funny. I do miss using
- 50:21Speaker 1: that name as the show. But that's okay. But Corey,
- 50:25Speaker 1: are you surprised that they did not get the reference?
- 50:28Speaker 1: I am.
- 50:28Speaker 5: It's that's kind of sad. It's a sadly I guess
- 50:32Speaker 5: we can call a classic now because it's been out
- 50:33Speaker 5: for you know, twenty two years or whatever.
- 50:37Speaker 1: But yeah, it's has it been twenty two years? Good? Gosh?
- 50:41Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, it is around four or five somewhere that
- 50:44Speaker 5: generally are.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll have to look up and see you. Yeah,
- 50:47Speaker 1: Vince Vaughn was great at that movie. To me, he
- 50:49Speaker 1: stole the show. But anyway, Well, what's happening today in
- 50:54Speaker 1: UK sports as well as pop culture?
- 50:58Speaker 5: So this week is Mace seventeenth through the twenty third
- 51:03Speaker 5: May seventeenth, eighteen seventy five. Michael was coming back from
- 51:08Speaker 5: fighting in the Civil War.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Eighteen seventy five. Wasn't that the first Kentucky Derby?
- 51:17Speaker 5: You stole it, mister Bennett, you stole it?
- 51:19Speaker 1: I did. Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Sorry,
- 51:27Speaker 1: very important. I didn't mean to do that.
- 51:29Speaker 5: That's fine, it's very important because aristides when's the first
- 51:34Speaker 5: running of the Kentucky Derby?
- 51:36Speaker 1: So the first running of the Kentucky Derby was today
- 51:39Speaker 1: in eighteen seventy five.
- 51:41Speaker 5: No May seventeenth, today's the May nineteenth.
- 51:44Speaker 1: I wonder when they changed it. I don't know the
- 51:46Speaker 1: history of this. Do you know when the first sturday
- 51:49Speaker 1: in May? I think in nineteen thirty one, I believe summer.
- 51:55Speaker 5: It was the early thirties we went to the first.
- 51:59Speaker 1: I had I know why, I honestly I did not
- 52:02Speaker 1: and I thought I knew a lot about Kentucky Derby history.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I did not know that. So today May nineteenth, that
- 52:09Speaker 1: is crazy. No, May seventeenth, that's what I said, May seventeenth.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Are you not listening? Tell me I said nineteenth.
- 52:16Speaker 5: But it's fine anyway.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Almost. I almost kind of feel like it was May
- 52:21Speaker 1: seventeenth anyway, because of the fact that you know it'd
- 52:23Speaker 1: be warmer and probably no rain, but go ahead.
- 52:26Speaker 5: The race was run at the Louisville Jockey Club Grounds,
- 52:30Speaker 5: which we all now know as Churchill Downs. Ten thousand
- 52:34Speaker 5: fans were in attendance. The horse won with a time
- 52:39Speaker 5: of two minutes and thirty seven point seven seven five seconds.
- 52:43Speaker 5: The race was a mile and a half back then wow,
- 52:47Speaker 5: really okay, it's not a mile in a quarter. There
- 52:51Speaker 5: are fifteen horses in the race, and he finished two
- 52:53Speaker 5: links ahead of Volcano. It's a great horse name.
- 52:58Speaker 1: It's a great name.
- 53:00Speaker 5: Oliver Lewis was the jockey, was his only Derby winn,
- 53:04Speaker 5: and Ansel Williamson was the trainer. It was also his
- 53:08Speaker 5: only Derby winn. The purse for first place was two
- 53:12Speaker 5: eight and fifty bucks, which today would be about a
- 53:16Speaker 5: six thousand, three hundred.
- 53:18Speaker 1: That's still pretty.
- 53:19Speaker 5: Good, not bad. I found this funny. I looked through
- 53:23Speaker 5: the finish of the horses and two horses had like
- 53:26Speaker 5: actual human names. Bob Wooley finished fourth and Bill Bruce
- 53:33Speaker 5: finished seventh.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Hold on, I'm still concentrating on Bob. Who was the
- 53:39Speaker 1: next one?
- 53:40Speaker 5: Bill Bruce finished seventh?
- 53:43Speaker 1: Bill Bruce? Can you imagine naming your horse Bill Bruce?
- 53:47Speaker 1: Maybe I should do that sometimes.
- 53:49Speaker 5: I mean, just when's the last time a horse was
- 53:52Speaker 5: named like after like a like a actual like human.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I'm sure, man, I'm sure there are some out there,
- 53:59Speaker 1: but right now I cannot think of anybody just naming
- 54:02Speaker 1: it simple names like that is so pure.
- 54:05Speaker 3: I hate animals with human names absolutely.
- 54:10Speaker 1: I have always wanted to name one uncle Buck. I
- 54:15Speaker 1: think that would you get an old you know, a
- 54:17Speaker 1: brown horse, a brown horse, a brown dog, and like
- 54:21Speaker 1: a chocolate lab or something. I think uncle Buck would
- 54:24Speaker 1: be a perfect name for him. I had one of
- 54:27Speaker 1: my closest friends I grew up with, Randy y'all, named
- 54:30Speaker 1: his chocolate his black lab Cornbread, and I love that name.
- 54:37Speaker 1: I thought that was a fantastic name, Cornbread, And I
- 54:40Speaker 1: think I don't know if it was after Cornbread Maxwell
- 54:42Speaker 1: or not, but his name was Cornbread Corey. Do you
- 54:46Speaker 1: know who came up with Churchill downs the name? No,
- 54:51Speaker 1: the like? Who invented it? Who invented it? I don't
- 54:56Speaker 1: know if I know what you heard it?
- 54:58Speaker 5: Uh? Western Churchill? No, that's wrong, I don't know.
- 55:01Speaker 3: I don't remember if it was Lewis or Clark, but
- 55:05Speaker 3: one of their grandsons actually started the track.
- 55:08Speaker 5: Really, you learned some new every day Scoots?
- 55:11Speaker 1: Oh well, you know, you know what we might need
- 55:13Speaker 1: to just get rid of Corey and have you do
- 55:15Speaker 1: this segment then, justin Corey, you better watch out. Somebody's
- 55:18Speaker 1: making a run for your show. Here.
- 55:20Speaker 5: I guess Scoots should meet my mic and he should
- 55:24Speaker 5: take over.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well it was named after you know. We talked
- 55:28Speaker 1: about that last week. Did meet Lord and Lady Derby? Derby? Yeah?
- 55:36Speaker 1: I know. It was funny in his English accent because
- 55:39Speaker 1: he would say Derby when I heard him speak, and
- 55:42Speaker 1: then he said, I know how you people say it,
- 55:44Speaker 1: It's Derby And it was funny to see him change
- 55:47Speaker 1: from his English accent to an American accent. But Cory,
- 55:51Speaker 1: go ahead, I'm sorry.
- 55:52Speaker 5: I was just say for your next horse, if you
- 55:54Speaker 5: want to name him Corey Price, I would have.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Zero, mister statistic. How's that?
- 56:02Speaker 5: I think krkbys the better.
- 56:03Speaker 1: That's fine, okay.
- 56:05Speaker 5: May seventeenth, nineteen thirty Gallant Fox wins the fifty sixth
- 56:09Speaker 5: running of the Kentucky Derbuy won the race with a
- 56:13Speaker 5: time of two minutes and seven point six seconds out
- 56:16Speaker 5: of the number seven post. The jockey was Earl sand
- 56:20Speaker 5: was his third w win, and the trainer was James E. Fitzsimmons,
- 56:25Speaker 5: his first w win. Gallant Fox went on to become
- 56:29Speaker 5: the second horse to win the Triple Crown. That was
- 56:32Speaker 5: the first time it was called that. Sports writer Charles
- 56:35Speaker 5: Haddon coined the term I think right before the race.
- 56:38Speaker 1: So I like that.
- 56:42Speaker 5: This is a big one for people in my age.
- 56:44Speaker 5: I think, I hope. May seventeenth, nineteen seventy seven the
- 56:48Speaker 5: first Chuck e Cheese opens.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Did y'all wow? Nineteen seventy seven? I didn't realize it
- 56:55Speaker 1: was that old.
- 56:56Speaker 5: Did y'all visit the Chuck e Cheese in your u? Unfortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately.
- 57:03Speaker 1: No, I never did in my youth, but I certainly
- 57:06Speaker 1: took my kids for multiple That was the worst birthday
- 57:10Speaker 1: party venue in the world.
- 57:12Speaker 5: You've got to.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Be kidding at Mouse is just far too creepy.
- 57:16Speaker 5: How can you both hate on Chuck E Cheese?
- 57:18Speaker 1: Like, oh, I'm not allowed within three hundred yards of
- 57:22Speaker 1: a Chucky Cheese.
- 57:23Speaker 5: That's a different segment. That's a different segment.
- 57:27Speaker 1: It's a lot, Ben Lauden, I'm sorry about that. I
- 57:36Speaker 1: couldn't help myself. I'm not referencing the rest of that line.
- 57:39Speaker 5: By the way, the first one was called Chuck E
- 57:43Speaker 5: Cheese's Pizza Thyme Theater and it was located in San Jose, California,
- 57:52Speaker 5: started by Nolan Bushnell, who was the founder of Atari.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Oh Wow Yeah, And as of August twenty twenty five,
- 58:00Speaker 5: there are a total of six hundred and seventy seven
- 58:02Speaker 5: Chuck and Cheese locations in forty five states in sixteen countries.
- 58:06Speaker 3: There's still that many.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Yeah, because there seventy seven too many. Oh my goodness,
- 58:11Speaker 1: you all are unbelievable.
- 58:13Speaker 5: I had many many parties there as a kid, and
- 58:16Speaker 5: I loved every single one of them.
- 58:18Speaker 3: Why didn't you have a big party. Your parents wouldn't
- 58:20Speaker 3: let you. You had to have a mini party?
- 58:23Speaker 1: Had jokes. Yeah, Well, it's a bad show. We're moving
- 58:26Speaker 1: on those jokes for your show. Okay.
- 58:30Speaker 5: May eighteenth, two thousand and one, the animated comedy film
- 58:34Speaker 5: Shrek is releasing theaters. I'm hoping you have seen Shrek.
- 58:38Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Michael, I've seen Shrek.
- 58:42Speaker 1: No, what I know, I've never.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Seen never seen Shrek. No, I'm not.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I am not much into animated movies. I'm just not.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I've never seen Aladdin. I've never seen any of those things.
- 58:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but you've also never seen Eddie Murphy play donkey,
- 58:58Speaker 3: and that's worth the price of it.
- 58:59Speaker 1: You're right, And I love Eddie Murphy. I think he's
- 59:03Speaker 1: one of my all time favorite comedic actors. Not my favorite,
- 59:07Speaker 1: but he's one of them. Evin Hart up there, Bill
- 59:12Speaker 1: Murray's my all time favorite.
- 59:14Speaker 5: Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicki Jensen, it fatures the
- 59:19Speaker 5: voices of Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow, Eddie Murphy, and Mike Myers.
- 59:25Speaker 5: Film gross approximately two hundred sixty nine nice point nine
- 59:28Speaker 5: million dollars domestic Wow, maybe the second highest cussion film
- 59:31Speaker 5: with two thousand and one. Harry Potter was the top
- 59:35Speaker 5: one that year. In two thousand and eight, the American
- 59:38Speaker 5: Film Institute ranked the film number eight on a list
- 59:41Speaker 5: of the ten best animated films of all time.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Wow should be higher? Really? I agree? You like it
- 59:49Speaker 1: that much? Oh, it's shrecks phenomenal. Yeah, okay, I'll have
- 59:52Speaker 1: to go watch it.
- 59:54Speaker 5: This is also the only non Disney film that was
- 59:57Speaker 5: in the top ten lists as well.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Interesting okay.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: May eighteenth, twenty nineteen, Number twenty three. UK Softball defeats
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: number twenty two Virginia Tech eight to one and the
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: NCA Tournament Lexington Regional. With the win, UK advanced to
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: the finals of the Lexington Regional. UK was efficient, scoring
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: eight runs on just seven hits, although they were aided

- 1:00:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Corey, I've never seen fifteen seconds of any of
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: the Star Wars.
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: That's actually quite impressive.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Director.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: I've seen the original, That's all I've seen. It's burn excuts,
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: directed by George Lucas. Its stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jake

- 1:01:04Speaker 5: four hundred and eighty seven point six million dollars domestically,
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: making it the highest Russian film of nineteen ninety nine.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: The film was No Only for three Academy Awards Best Sound,
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: Best Sound Effects and Best Visual Effects. May twenty eleven,
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: the comedy film Midnight in Paris is released in theaters.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Nope, Yeah didn't let him, asked the question why do
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: you just have to interrupt into Nope? Because I know
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: what coming. I know what's coming.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: Directed by Woody Allen has An Age Well starring Kathy Bates,
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: Adrian Brody, Marion cot Yard, Tom Hillston, Rachel McAdams, and
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: Owen Wilson. Film grosser proximy in fifty six when eight
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: million dollars domestically, make it the fifty seventh highest rushing
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: film with twenty eleven and the film was I mean
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: for four a Cameo Awards, winning one for Best Original Screenplay.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: I think it shows you the quality of the movie
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: when it's number fifty seven in money for twenty eleven.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: No, money doesn't always mean it's a great movie. I mean,
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: there's sure there movies that made a ton of money
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: that weren't you No insially great?
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Yeah, anytime, all right, here's your bad take. Any time
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I hear Woody Allen, I run far away. I have
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: never watched a Woody Allen movie and I have zero
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: interest in watching any Woody Allen movie.
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: Plus it's h port.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's kind of creepy. But you know, there
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: are a lot of movies out there that did not
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: do well at the box office. Justin and then later
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: in life it has like a resurgence. I'll give you
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: one right now, and Corey Price, you try in on this,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I'll tell you right now. I think the movie that
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: had Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Martin Short called Three Amigos,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: is far more popular today than it ever was when
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: it first came out, and at the time when it
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: did come out, it was one of my and still
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: is one of my all time favorite movies.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: I think it could make a similar argument with Oh
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: my gosh, why can't think of the airplane movie Top Gun?
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: You could make the case with Top Gun with them
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: bringing out the second one up. I feel like a
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: lot of people really went back and.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: Watched Top then made a ton of money I would
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: think that was fair.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: But it was really popular when it first came out, too,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: so whereas Three Amigos was not. And now it seems
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: like it's uberly popular now and people have gone back
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: to watch it and think how great it is. But
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I think it's because Steve Martin and Martin Short have
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: been so popular as well. I mean, they're still viewed
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: as some of the funniest people out there and out
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: they're doing touring and doing all kinds of show. I mean,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: they got that Murder in the Build. What's it called
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Murder in the Building?
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: Only murders in the building?
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Thank you, Corey. Only have you ever watched that? Justin?
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: I have not.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: No, Corey, you watch that, don't you.
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: I've seen a couple yet.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Okay, so you're not big into it. I like it.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I think it's pretty good. But I think that the
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: special that Martin Short and Steve Martin did of their
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: show that they do on stage, that was on I
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: think it was on Netflix. It was really funny and
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: I enjoyed every second of it.
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: There's a new doc on Netflix about uh, Martin Martin Short.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I haven't seen it yet. Have you seen it?
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: I have not. I it's called Life is Short. Yeah, yes,
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: one to watch it.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I love them, I mean I I just you know,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: you look back at John Candy, Martin Short, Eugene Levy.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Those are some of my all time favorite people. And
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: anytime Martin Short would come on late night, I mean
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: either with David Letterman and or Corey uh uh not
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Corey h of course I had to watch it. I
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: mean they were hilarious.
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: All three of those guys I believe are from Canada
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: as well, so.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Exactly they are, and they are all in a SETV
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: along with Catherine O'Hara. I mean, you name a lot
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: of people that were dan Ackroyd I think was a
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: part of that as well. I mean they were all
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: kinds of great Canadian comedic actors.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: That's right. May nineteen ninety two, the series The Real
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: World airs its first episode on TV. Did you ever
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: watch The Real World?
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah? I did? Yeah?
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: Created by Mary Ellis Bunham and Jonathan Murray. Show edit
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: total of six n and fourteen episodes over thirty three seasons.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: First season was set in New York City. Those who
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Care were wondering the closest day every out to Louisville
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: was in Chicago. Season's eleven thirty and four seasons were
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: set outside of the US, CANCUN, London, Paris, and Sydney.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: Yep, that's a big show back then. May twenty first,
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: twenty twenty two, UK baseball defeat number eighteen Auburn sixty
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: three at Kentucky Proud Park. With the win, you can
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: have their first series winningas they ranked Auburn teams. That's
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: twenty eighteen. UK scored five runs in the six sixth inning.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: They they scored all six of the runs on four
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: singles and the throwing error. It's a little small small ball.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: Seven different UK players had a hit with aarage I
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: knew and John Thrasher lad in the wodcast with two
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: hits each. This is a big one, I think hopefully.
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: May twenty second, nineteen eighty the k ArKade game pac
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: Man is released. Hell yeah, were you a big pac
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: Man guy? Michael pac Man was my favorite? Michael nothing
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: with pac Man, Michael at all nothing?
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, no, I I enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: I mean any I kind of like the uh I
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: don't remember what it was called, but it was the thing,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: a little triangle ship that would shoot at asteroids. That
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: was it?
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: Okay?
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: Designed by that's right. Designed by Toru i Watani and
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: developed by Namco, was first released in Japan under the
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: name puck Man.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Oh interesting, Okay, that's that's that's different.
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: Pac Man had to eat all the dots with an
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: amaze while avoiding four ghosts. Do y'all call the name
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: names of the four ghosts?
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Inky?
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Blinky two more?
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, why am I blanking on these? I
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: know these? I know these for sure. All I could
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: think of was inky and.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: Blink, blinky, inky, Pinky and Clyde. I'm not sure why
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: the fourth spinky, Pinky and Clyde.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Isn't there a human version of this game that came
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: out where people are running in amaze?
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: I actually just saw that for the first time yesterday,
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: So it's crazy that you bring that up.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Yeah, oh did you really? Okay?
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: As of twenty sixteen, pac Man has has had fourteen
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: billion dollars in revenue and forty three million units sold. Amazing.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: I used to be in all the pizzates of I
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: believe I beat it one time on oh really Humble
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: Braw I.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: Got beat the whole game?
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, congratulations, what'd you get out of it? And
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: at a boy exactly?
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: Last one May twenty third, nineteen eighty, the horror film
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: The Shining is releasing. Peters, somebody else seen The Shining?
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Nope? Oh, I've seen it multiple times. It's one of
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: the all time scariest movies I've ever watched. The whole
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: part of Here's Johnny. I think it's one of the
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: most iconic scenes in all of movie history.
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: Come shortly Directed by Stanley Cooper, it stars Scatman Brothers,
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: Shelley Duvall, Daniel Lloyd. I think this might have been
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: on Danie Lloyd's only film. I think I could be wrong, really,
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: Yep and Jack Nicholson. Film gross approximately forty seven point
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: one million dollars domestically, make make it the twelfth highest
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: Christian film of nineteen eighty and. In two thousand and five,
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: the American Film Institute ranked the line Here's Johnny number
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: sixty eight on so list of the top one quotes
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: in American cinema history.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I thought it would be a lot higher than that.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: I'm kind of surprised by that, Corey, are you?
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: I don't know a's oar as lots of great quotes
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: and films from from the past there are. I also
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: like all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Yes, Troy Roebuck used to say that quite a bit
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: on QMF way way way back in the day, so
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: I loved that. That's one of my favorite lines too. So,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: because you know, Jack Nick Listen, I think is famous
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: for several lines, you can't handle the Truth as another
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: one that has to be on that list, I would,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: I would think. So I didn't look at the whole list,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: but that's okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't expect you
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: to do, but I would think it would be. Yeah,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: I love that, all right. Because you love horror films,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: I am not as into them as much as you are.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: But to me, growing up, I always thought The Exorcist
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: was one of the scariest movies out there, and and
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I don't know if it's necessarily scary, but it was
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: just an uncomfortable, bizarre movie. I liked The Shiny but
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: it was up on that list too. As far as
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: scary movies. What is Corey Price's number one scariest movie
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: out there?
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: No debate, it is Halloween.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Sir John Cary, I'm sitting over here thinking because I'm
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: a I'm a pansy Corey. I don't do the scary movies.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: I just I don't know. I think they all in
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: pretty well the same. They've got the same script. I
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: know there's there's some differences in some of them. But
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: I'm sitting over here thinking how much I'm a pansy
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: because Halloween is one of the only Halloween or one
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: of the only scary movies I can watch. And you're
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: saying it's the scariest.
- 1:11:15Speaker 5: Well, to me, it's scary because like in theory, in
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: real life that can happen, like some guy can just
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: go crazy one night and stab people like to me, the.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Ways for giving all kinds of guys out there in Louisville,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Kentucky and idea, well, this is what I need to do.
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: Yes, I don't say to do it, but like the
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: ones that don't scare me are the ones that in
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: my opinion, can happen like ghosts and like being haunted
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: by something like to me, that doesn't scare me because
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: in my opinion, once again that that just can happen.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: So stuff that can happen in real life is what
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: scares me the most.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: Breaking news. Corey doesn't believe in ghosts and haunting and
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: haunting stuff.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Oh ye, no, sorry, you don't really and you do?
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, do you really? Okay? I want to.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I just I'm still skeptical in that stuff. But anyway,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: all right, Corey Price, I appreciate you coming on this Tuesday.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: What else is going on in your life?
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: Ummm, did trivia last night and one with my friends.
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: That was fun. Doing trivia again tonight. I'm a trivia nerd,
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: so try every chance I can to go out and
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: do trivia with the friends. So we'll see how it goes.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Wow, okay. Josh texted in and said, Christmas Story flopped
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: in the box office office, but we know how popular
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: it is.
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: Now let's show it twenty four hours straight, so I
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: hope it's it's a scene a lot by.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Now. I can't stand that movie. Just to let you know,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I think it's the dumbest movie out there. One person said,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: scariest movie for me is The Nun. Have you ever
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: watched I'm not familiar with The Nun? I have you
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: ever watched that?
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: It might be like a haunting ghost type thing. Maybe
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: so once again, it doesn't do anything for me.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Sad. Yes, one person said El Guappo Michael Bennett and
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: his plethora of us another reference to Three Amigos. Sorry
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: about that plethora? Would you say they have a plethora?
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: What does plethora mean?
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: Good time?
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I just I love I love that movie.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: But anyway, all right, we gotta take we gotta take
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: a break. Uh wow, somebody's really said. I call that
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: bold talk for a one eyed fatman. Oh my goodness,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: I've never felt so lost. I'm just reading text. I
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: love text messages. They do make me laugh. And that's
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: a really good one right there. So all right, Corey Price,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: have a great week. We'll see you next Tuesday. Okay, yes, sir,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: and second sketch. All right, love the end of that.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: I love the end of that. All Right, We're gonna
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: take a break. Keep saying those Texans because they're really
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: entertaining me now, so fable two three four fourteen fifty
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: five two four one four fourteen fifties. They're right there.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: More Justicat's coming right up? Mistlesoone else not ball again.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: I have seen.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Dude, I give you hard well, yeah, I do about
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: you've never seen I've never seen Shreck. I'm sorry you're
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: giving you We're off the air and you're giving me
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: a hard time. I've never seen Shrek.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: I mean, I didn't know there was anybody out there
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: it's never seen Shreck.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never seen it. I just I'm not big
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: into animated movies. I've never had been. I mean, I
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: watched a Toy Store it was pretty good. What's the
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: one the Polar Express? It was horrible? Is it really?
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: I kind of liked it, Okay. I watched that with
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: my kids when they were growing up. My mom bought
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: that for my boys when they were little, and I
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: wanted to watch that, but I just I never got
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: into it. So one person texted, Ryan Hampton is not
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: ready he needs to say in twenty twenty seven. I
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: don't know. I haven't really paid much attention to him.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: So if he is ready, I don't know. If he
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: isn't ready, I don't know anyway, forty eight handle he said, yes,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Aristide's was first and tin Brock was second. You know
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: that makes me wonder. You know there is a I
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: think it's assisted living or some kind of medical facility
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: over there off the Waterston Expressway at Dutchman's Lane. It's
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: called tin Brock. Is it named after the horse? Probably so,
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: I didn't know anything about the horse came in second.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: I bet you're right. I bet you that that is,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: he said. Gallon Fox sired Omaha, who also won the
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Triple Crown for bel Air stud owned by William Woodward.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Uh uh, one said plethoro one of my favorite word.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: That means an abundance of yes, thank you. I knew that,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: But Patrick said, would you rather have a horse named
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: in honor of you that wins the Triple Crown or
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: win either of the races? Oh that's a fun question
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: right there, Patrick, and I appreciate that. Justin would you
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: would you rather have a name a horse named after
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: you or to win either of the races?
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: I'd rather have a horse named after me. I think
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: that'd be really cool.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Okay, but what if it happened after you're no longer alive, though,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: and it's in honor of you? So then I'll watch
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: down from above? And okay, I think I would rather
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: win it. I would rather have that experience of winning
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: the race rather than having a horse named after me.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: That one. That's a fun question right there, justin what's
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: your favorite song in Shrek?
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: Probably I'm a believer.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: Who sings that? Is that that? Yes, I was gonna say,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: it's it's a redo it SHRESI is smash Mouth, smash Mouth.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: I remember the smash mouth version.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: But yeah, okay, I can tell what you're gonna be
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: pulling up pretty soon. So we'll see how that goes.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about this before we get to
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: anything else, will Stein. We'll find out today if a cornerback,
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: five star cornerback named Miles Brown is going to be
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: choosing he is actually looking. The choices are uk Old,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: miss U of l and Tennessee. I mean, that's a
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: solid lineup right there that this young man is choosing between.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: And here's the other part. He's out of Martin, Tennessee,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: which is in the northwestern part. It's it's closer to Paduca,
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I think, than it is closer to Memphis, or as
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: they like to say in Memphis, me awfus. But here's
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: the other impressive part. The young man has a three
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: point nine g p A. That's impressive to me. I listen,
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: whatever school you go to, I don't care if some
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: people say Oh, it's not a great school. It doesn't
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: matter if you get a three point nine or above GPA,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: you're that's that's impressive. And for him to show that off,
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: I'm happy for him. But I'm hearing, you know, good
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: things that most likely he will be signed with UK today.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: I mean, that would be incredible in an off season
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: where you just continue to hear nothing but good news.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: We haven't heard a single bad thing about Kentucky under
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: will Stein yet, So just keep the momentum rolling, keep
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: bringing in big time recruits and see what we can.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: Do that'll make the fifth fourth star will Stein is
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: brought in for twenty seven.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: That is four more than Kurt Signetti had last year
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: at India for.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but that doesn't matter. I mean, clearly, Kirk Signetti
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: showed that the stars really don't matter, and I love
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: that Mark Stoops was doing that along with Vince Merril.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: They were doing that at UK at one point where
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: they were bringing players that didn't have the stars, and
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: some of those stars it just doesn't matter. I agree
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: with you, Well, you build a team together, but when.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: You're getting those four and five star guys that you
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: don't typically get and you have success, with the lower
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: level ones. What does that do to your program when
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: you start getting those guys and they potentially have success?
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: You know, yeah, exactly, it's all.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Right, Uh, should we take a break? I mean, this
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: has been a really quick segment because you know, we
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: went along with Corey. Should we take a break now
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: or should we talk about TBT? And uh, you tell me,
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: let's talk about tv let's preak. All right, let's go
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: ahead and take our last break, and then when we
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: come back, I want to talk about the Basketball Tournament
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: because I like what they're doing and I believe that
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: this tournament continues to get even more successful. It's it's
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: fun to watch. I think it happens at the right time.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: So let's talk about that as soon as we get back.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Keep sending your text in five, two, three, four, fourteen fifty.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: We'll see in just a minute.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: This is just a cat.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: And then I saw we get in win down get
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: a gamive soon.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: Thatch about Cambin down Sam down the.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: All right, So the tvt announced yesterday a little bit
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: of a new format that they're going to have the
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Basketball Tournament. Uh, the champion is going to be now
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: taking home to two million was it a million last year,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: it was all right. So they've doubled the amount of
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: money you're able to win. Now it's two million dollars.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: And cut the teams in quarters. Yes, I think there
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: were sixty four teams last year, sixteen now a sixteen.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Yeah, so you got eight alumni teams and eight non
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: alumni teams. Uh, you only need five wins to get it.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: And I do like the matchup where the first three
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: games are you know, UK and U of L. Yeah,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: do you like that? That's awesome? Yeah, because that is fine.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: What's the one thing we look forward to every summer
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: in regards to the TVT A potential Kentucky Louisville matchup. Now,
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: you don't you don't have to hope for that. They
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: don't have to win out. They just get not only
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: one game, but potentially three against each other. Heck, yeah,
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: it's gonna be awesome. It is gonna be awesome.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: So the first game between UK U of L is
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: going to be at Memorial I'm sorry, Historic Memorial Coliseum, Saturday,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: July eighteenth, at noon. It's going If you can't make it.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: The good news is it's going to be played on
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Fox Network and then the second game is going to
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: be played at Freedom Hall just two days later, July twentieth,
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: at seven pm on FS one. Listen, and then whoever
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: wins that they will face the winner of the Seaton
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Hall Syracuse game. Oh, they have announced the alumni teams? Yes? Oh? Yeah?
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: So all right, so you haven't seen the alumni.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: Now when I looked this morning that Kentucky and Louisville
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: was the only teams announced.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Okay, So who they have is uk U of L,
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Seaton Hall, Sea Orracuse, Kansas, Kansas State, Wichita State, and
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: New Mexico. Are you disappointed there is not an IU team?
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: No? I mean we flat stunk last year, so no,
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: I'm I'm not disappointed in that.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: Where were they called?
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: It?
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Something to do with Memorial Hall Assembly Ball? That's it
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: is phenomenal increase so much? Well, did did they support
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: it that well? Or no?
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: I think it supported.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: Okay, because I think the teams that have shown them
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: more of the fan bases that have shown the most
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: fans support is uk U of L. Yeah sure, And
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: I'm just why is it continually UK and U of
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: L that have the most support when stuff like this
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: comes up? It's it is amazing to me, and I
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: the TBT CEO is like, we want them in every
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: year because of the huge draw they they bring all
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: these fans. They've had the largest crowds, and I think
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: it's fantastic. Why do you think it is?
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: It's arguably a top five rivalry in all of college athletics,
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: so it makes sense that it would be heavily supported.
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: And you factor in the fact that it's only an
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: hour apart from each other, like there's there's a lot
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: on the line. People are very passionate one way or
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: the other with these teams. So I just as long
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: as the TBT is a thing, I would imagine that
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: Kentucky and Louisville will be a part of it.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Well, now I see you say top five. I think
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: it is the top one. I know I'm biased. I
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: don't see how you can say that when you see
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: something like this that isn't even the basketball teams and
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: the fans are out there supporting it like crazy. How
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: is it not number one? You don't see a Duke
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: North Carolina alumni team. That's because all Duke's players are
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: in the NBA. A lot of UK players are in
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: the NBA. There are more UK players in the NBA,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: so you can't say that smart all. Yeah, it was
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: a jab and I don't really appreciate that. And whoever's
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: come into your studio tell them to get out. Okay, Well,
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: you were looking off somewhere, so I'm just gonna say
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: I think it's my head off the middle.
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: You can't.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: You need to stare straight at me as we're talking. Okay,
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: I need eye contact. That sounds creepy, But I just
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: I think this is the greatest rivalry and I think
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: I think the best part of it is no offense
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: to Historic Memorial Coliseum. You know, I grew up going
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: to Freedom Hall, and the fact that we get to
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: go see uku Bel at Freedom Hall makes it a
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: thousand times better. I don't want to go see them
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: at Young Center. It'd be fun if we could go
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: to Reperina. I wish they would open it to Reperena.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: But the fact that they're playing one of the games
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: at Freedom Hall, I think it's phenomenal.
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: You're you're not excited to go check out the game
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: at Freedo l A Memorial Coliseum.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Oh boy, don't start that with me, Okay, I mean,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna lose it because I hate all those names. Yeah,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: freedom Lay? Why would you call it, of all things
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: freedom Lay? I what a horrible name. But I listen,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: I am looking forward to this. I think you know,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: as I said before we went to break, this tournament
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: just keeps getting more and more popular. At least it
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: does in Kentucky. Do you think it does outside? Are
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: we just so biased about this tournament because we get
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: to see former players Willie cally Stein who's gonna be
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: out there as well as Archie Goodwin, Travis is going
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: to be showing up for this, and then the head
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: coach is going to be former UK player John Hood.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: I mean, I don't think nationally that this tournament's all
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: that big. I do think there's something to be said
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: about the area that we live in and how regional
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: basketball is in this specific area of the country, and
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: that I think I've got evidence to about up by
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: the fact that they had a sixty four team bracket
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: last year couldn't even fill it. There was a couple
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: teams that I recall having a first round by because
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: they just didn't have an opponent. And then you take
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: it down to sixteen and the first two alumni teams
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: that are announced are Louisville in Kentucky. That speaks to
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: how important basketball is in this area and how much
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: we pay attention to this tournament.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: Absolutely. Can you imagine if we had an NBA team
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: here in town. I don't know if TBT would be
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: as popular if, for instance, Oklahoma City was in Louisville
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: and we're going through the finals of the Western Division.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: No, I mean that's the tbt's not until July, though.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: NBA is gonna be old true, but it's getting attention
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: right now. TBT is getting attention right now. So one
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: person texted in said, hey, Scoots, now, Hey, now, Scoots,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: you're an all star. Shrek is an all time favorite.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: Smash mouth that's good, but hallelujah. The version sung in
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Shrek is haunting.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: It is really really good. I don't care much for
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: that song, but that version and Trek is really spectacular.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: I'd rather win the Derby. That's the only big race
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: that means the most. Yeah, I get it. I mean,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: the Preakness is not as big, Bellmont is not as big,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: but you know, the trophy is for the Preakness and
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: the Belmont. But no, I and maybe it's it's our bias,
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: But I don't think so. I think if you ask
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: people around the world that no horse racing, they would
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: rather win the Derby than anything else.
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: If you throw out the Derby, Preakness, Belmont, and let's say,
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: what's the one they do in the in the fall time,
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: what's the next biggest race in your opinion?
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: Travers, Stephen Foster. I don't know. There's a number of
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: them out there. What would you.
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: Consider the best dirt? Like, is it the Florida Derby?
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: Is it the Arkansas Derby?
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Oh? The pre Derby's well, I mean, yeah, you got
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: to Arkansas Derby. The the other one is the Florida Derby.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: Then you got Tampa Bay Derby. You've got the Bluegrass Steakes.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: I probably would want the Bluegrass Stakes, h okay, just
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: because of it being at Keenland, and it's it's associated
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: with my home state. So my only concern about the
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Bluegrass Stakes it's too early before the well maybe not
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: before the Derby.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: So pretty hand Travers, no doubt, Travers.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: Okay, with that all right? One person said, is the
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: ceiling still falling from Assembly Hall? Or did they get
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: some football money for a new roof? Replacement.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: Oh, we're loaded, we're rolling in dough up in Bloomington.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Okay, settle down, roll, I get it. My son was
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: the cutest drunkie for his first Halloween. You've got to
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: look at the picture. Thank you, Jamie. That's a great
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: picture right there. Do you see it? I love it.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: It's the cutest thing. That's a good looking guy right there.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: So congratulations, Jamie, buzz said. Neil Diamond wrote, I'm a believer.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: I see. I love history like this. I had no idea.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: So Neil Diamond wrote that for the monkeys and they
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: saying it.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: I guess.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: Okay, all right, well thanks for that input right there.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: One person said, uh, I'll miss the w v U
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Marshall in Cincinnati Xavier matchups this year. I don't know
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: were they were they in it last year. I don't
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: even remember whats Virginia. That's right, Yes, you are right,
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: that is the way. Yeah it is forty eight, handle
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: said travelers. You say you said that? Uh uh scoots
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: staring into Michael's eyes. He needs to feel the intimacy. No,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: I know, not to you. No, oh no, yeah, you
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: got come on now, don't say stuff like that. There's
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: gonna be a young lady out there that's gonna just
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: tear you up, and you're gonna like, I gotta marry
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: this girl. She's out there, probably out there. You're probably right,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: you don't nowhere, but she'll come up. I don't know
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: if you saw it or not. Did you see the
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Six Flags roller coaster in Arlington? Well, not just the
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: roller coaster, but they had a power outage at the
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: six Flags in Arlington, Texas over the weekend, and they
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: showed video of people actually walking down steps two hundred
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: feet up in the air. And this poor girl who
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: was me had both her hands on the rail as
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: she was walking down trying to get off the roller coaster.
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: I did see this, and it's I back in the day,
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: wouldn't that wouldn't have bothered me at all. I would
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: have probably ran down those stairs. But yeah, I'm kind
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: of like you now where I would have, I would
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: have been clenching a little bit harder walking down those stairs.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: How about the Detroit Tigers fan. Have you seen the
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: video of him taking? Yes, I think he had at
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: least seven or eight jerseys on. This was brilliant marketing,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: by the way, by the Tigers because they were going
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: to show, going to do a you know, a live
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: read as far as promoting the pro shop for Detroit
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: Tiger's gear. And this guy was literally taking off I
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: believe three, if not four Detroit Tiger jerseys that he
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: literally had on. And here's the crazy part. He kept
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: his hat on the entire time. It's like, dude, have
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: you had too many beers not knowing that you should
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: take your hat off and then take your jersey is off.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: I mean he's taking multiple ones off. I'm assume he's
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: trying to get a rally going.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: Here's my thing. Why is this psycho lifting them up
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: over his head? They are buttons down. Yeah, unbutton the buttons,
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: take it off a lot easier and call it a day.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: Yeah joke.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: Well, and not only that, but every time he takes
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: a jersey off, he fixes his hat. Then he takes
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: another jersey off, fixes his hat. It's like, what are
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: you doing anyway? But we'll let you go so well.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: Jo Jamie said, sorry, I should have added this fifteen
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: years ago, but anyway, ha, thank you Jamie. All Right,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: we got to go for today. Appreciate you listening. We'll
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: be out tomorrow. So because I got to get a
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: couple of things on. But I'll put some video of
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: of what I'm doing tomorrow. Yea. No, Nick's got a cold,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: catching it from his kids, so he can't come, and
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: TJ had to reschedule, so we'll have to reschedule them
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: another time. So I was kind of bummed about that,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: but they can't help it. So yeah, we'll just we'll
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: just do a replay or a national show. Well your choice,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: all right, buddy, whatever, I have a great day. I'll
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: see you on Thursday.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Well a five, you can't bunce and stay. I've tied
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: into suit a patch
