- 0:00Speaker 1: Now this is the Mark Simon Show on sevent ten
- 0:05Speaker 1: war A lot of good stuff to get to today,
- 0:12Speaker 1: lots good talk about. We'll get to President Trump. He's
- 0:14Speaker 1: just done a very lengthy CNBC interview which is driving
- 0:20Speaker 1: the left nuts. We'll get to Oh, I forgot about
- 0:24Speaker 1: this major major shakeup in the Trump administration. Get that
- 0:28Speaker 1: in a second. We'll get to Iran. The talks will
- 0:31Speaker 1: resume today, Iran confirming they will be there at the
- 0:35Speaker 1: bargaining table. We'll get to Obama and what the hell
- 0:39Speaker 1: is he up to right now? We'll get to mister
- 0:42Speaker 1: met again. We'll get to Hochel, Bruce Blakeman, who should
- 0:46Speaker 1: be the next governor. We'll get to crazy Mom, Donnie,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and a whole lot more. Let me just clear this up.
- 0:52Speaker 1: If you've been watching the news NBCCBSABC, if you're reading
- 0:56Speaker 1: the New York Times, if you're using that crazy fake
- 1:00Speaker 1: news left wing media which is just about everything now,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you would have seen the headline major shakeup in the
- 1:07Speaker 1: Trump administration, A major shakeup. Well, the major shakeup is
- 1:13Speaker 1: what the hell's her name? Uh, resignation of Lori Chavez.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I don't know how you say it. Diremer Derimer. I
- 1:22Speaker 1: didn't even know her name. This is the major shakeup.
- 1:25Speaker 1: She's actually the labor secretary, which is the one of
- 1:28Speaker 1: the least important cabinet jobs. But she has resigned. And
- 1:34Speaker 1: if this what's today Tuesday. If on Sunday you said
- 1:37Speaker 1: to all of these newspeople, who's Lori's Chavez Drimmor, they
- 1:41Speaker 1: would go huh, who huh? Nobody ever heard of her.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Now it's a major shakeup, major shakeup. She uh was
- 1:51Speaker 1: the labor secretary. She got in a lot of trouble.
- 1:54Speaker 1: There was a whistleblower that filed all these complaints and
- 1:56Speaker 1: it turned out it was true that she was drinking
- 1:58Speaker 1: an office during working hours. According to all of this,
- 2:01Speaker 1: according to the investigation, created a hostile work environment. She
- 2:05Speaker 1: was pursuing an extra marital affair with the security guard.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Well he's labor, I guess. The complaint also said she
- 2:16Speaker 1: committed travel fraud by a lot of the aids, chief
- 2:19Speaker 1: of staff and deputies were make up these official trips
- 2:23Speaker 1: that weren't actually official. There were the destinations where there
- 2:26Speaker 1: were family vacations or just plain vacations on the taxpayer's dime.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But if you're watching the news, major shakeup. Nobody ever
- 2:36Speaker 1: heard of this woman. The day before, not one of
- 2:38Speaker 1: you newspeople ever said, let's try to get an interview
- 2:42Speaker 1: with Lori Chavez de rim Or. Nobody ever heard of her.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Now you said, well, yeah, but Trump, why would Trump? Uh? Well,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I looked into that. Where the hell did she come from?
- 2:50Speaker 1: It was actually the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Teamster's president
- 2:54Speaker 1: Shaw O'Brien had recommended her to Trump, in fact, had
- 2:58Speaker 1: encouraged Trump to nominate. And it's again, it's not the
- 3:02Speaker 1: biggest cabinet post. You can really put just about anybody
- 3:05Speaker 1: in there. Do you know any labor secretaries that have
- 3:08Speaker 1: stood out? Who's that little guy? Robert Reich? Wasn't he
- 3:12Speaker 1: a labor secretary? Again, it's a job where you just
- 3:15Speaker 1: stick somebody. So forget the major shakeup now. Iran talks
- 3:19Speaker 1: will continue today. Iran has confirmed they will send a delegation.
- 3:26Speaker 1: There will be peace talks today. Steve Whitkoff, Jared Kushner,
- 3:31Speaker 1: I think Vice President Vance and our team are there
- 3:34Speaker 1: over there now in Islamabad, Pakistan. You ever see the
- 3:38Speaker 1: life Jared Kushner lives in Miami, lives in this spectacular
- 3:42Speaker 1: mansion Miami, fun and son and glamour and fun. He's
- 3:46Speaker 1: running a massive real estate empire. He's a billionaire. He's
- 3:50Speaker 1: having the time of his Life's got a beautiful way.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Who the hell would want to give all this up
- 3:55Speaker 1: and sit on a plane for twenty hours to get
- 3:57Speaker 1: to Islamabad, Pakistan to sit in the Islama biod Pakistan
- 4:02Speaker 1: hotel ballroom for twelve hours talking to a bunch of
- 4:05Speaker 1: crazy Iranian negotiating. Who would want to do this? But
- 4:09Speaker 1: that's what he enjoys. Some people like pickleball. He likes
- 4:12Speaker 1: this talking to crazy Iranians at a bargaining table. So
- 4:16Speaker 1: the talks will continue today. Iran making all their usual threats,
- 4:20Speaker 1: they have now said they are prepared to reveal new
- 4:25Speaker 1: cards on the battlefield. They have some secret new thing. Well,
- 4:29Speaker 1: so far we took out all their major stuff, all
- 4:33Speaker 1: their real weapons, and now they're down to what they
- 4:35Speaker 1: call these mosquito boats. They're little, tiny speed boats with dynamite.
- 4:39Speaker 1: If a ship is trying to come through the strait,
- 4:42Speaker 1: they'll zoom out from a cave and try to hit
- 4:45Speaker 1: the ship with a bomb. But they're not that effective.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Outside of that, I don't know what they have now
- 4:50Speaker 1: we do know. It turns out, you know, we took
- 4:52Speaker 1: out all their rockets and missile launchers and that sort
- 4:55Speaker 1: of stuff. It turns out that they did bury underground
- 5:00Speaker 1: long before all this started. They buried a lot of
- 5:03Speaker 1: missile launchers and rockets to have in reserve in case
- 5:08Speaker 1: we blew up everything. They could dig those out. So
- 5:11Speaker 1: they're in the process of digging out those rockets and
- 5:14Speaker 1: missile launchers. Now we watched carefully, as does Israel, with
- 5:18Speaker 1: satellite photos of all this stuff. So I guess if
- 5:20Speaker 1: we see them digging out something, we'll blow up the
- 5:22Speaker 1: spot before they even get it out. We are blockading
- 5:28Speaker 1: the straight of hor Moves, and we did take out
- 5:31Speaker 1: one of There was a tanker that tried to come
- 5:34Speaker 1: through the blockade, and if you watch the way the
- 5:37Speaker 1: US handled it, it was pretty amazing. It was the Tusca,
- 5:43Speaker 1: an Iranian flagged tanker ship, a vessel that tried to
- 5:47Speaker 1: cross the blockade and it went right through it. We
- 5:51Speaker 1: then went after the ship. We hit it with a missile.
- 5:54Speaker 1: The first missile went right through the engine room, completely
- 5:57Speaker 1: disabled the ship completely disabled. Were one shot. Our helicopters
- 6:03Speaker 1: flew right to the ship US Marines repelled down under
- 6:07Speaker 1: the ship took total control of it immediately. This all
- 6:09Speaker 1: happened in a second President Trump putting out a statement
- 6:13Speaker 1: saying that right now US Marines have custody of this vessel.
- 6:18Speaker 1: It violated the sanctions US Treasury sanctions, and because of
- 6:22Speaker 1: their prior history of illegal activity, we have taken full
- 6:25Speaker 1: custody of the ship and everything on it. So I
- 6:29Speaker 1: don't think it's going to try crossing that blockade again.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So that'll happen today. The other thing will happen today
- 6:34Speaker 1: is Kevin Walsh is the nominee for the new FED chairman,
- 6:39Speaker 1: and he's going to have hearings today, and you're going
- 6:43Speaker 1: to see all hell break loose in these hearings. Now,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you got to remember Republicans, they're not very good at hearings.
- 6:49Speaker 1: They don't know what to do. But these Democrats are
- 6:51Speaker 1: brilliant in hearings. They know how to create viral video.
- 6:55Speaker 1: They huff and puff and yell and scream and they
- 6:58Speaker 1: carry on. Makes for quite a show. You'll be seeing
- 7:00Speaker 1: this all over the place. The star will be Elizabeth Warren.
- 7:05Speaker 1: She will yell and scream at Kevin wars She's a
- 7:07Speaker 1: very good guy. He's a quiet guy. He's perfectly qualified
- 7:11Speaker 1: as to be the FED chairman. There were a bunch
- 7:13Speaker 1: of choices. There was Kevin Hassett, and there was Scott Bessett,
- 7:17Speaker 1: but they're needed in the White House, more valuable in
- 7:20Speaker 1: the White House. So it came down to Kevin Warresh.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Who's a great choice. He'll be fine. They're gonna yell
- 7:25Speaker 1: and scream, Elizabeth Warren, You're gonna see it tonight all
- 7:28Speaker 1: over the place. She'll call them all kinds of names.
- 7:30Speaker 1: She's gonna yell and scream about. He's in the Epstein files.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Does nothing bad nothing. Everybody's in the Epstein files. Elizabeth
- 7:37Speaker 1: Warren is mentioned four hundred times in the Epstein Files.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Doesn't mean he had anything to do with Epstein. I'm
- 7:43Speaker 1: mentioned six times in the Epstein files. I have nothing
- 7:46Speaker 1: to do with the guy. It happens all the time,
- 7:49Speaker 1: so that'll happen. He's a wealthy guy. He's worth about
- 7:53Speaker 1: one hundred million, married to a wealthy woman, wealthy family.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So she'll yell and scream about that. They'll argue about
- 8:01Speaker 1: FED independence. That must be totally independent. It doesn't have
- 8:05Speaker 1: to be that independent. There is a Republican Tom Tillis,
- 8:10Speaker 1: who is vowed to block the nomination. Here's the problem
- 8:13Speaker 1: with all of that, there could be a deadlock twelve
- 8:16Speaker 1: to twelve. His problem is he wants the federal government
- 8:26Speaker 1: to drop the probe against Jerome Powell. The president in
- 8:29Speaker 1: the fighting with Jerome Powell. His administration has started to
- 8:32Speaker 1: investigate Powell. He's probably not a crook. It's probably not
- 8:36Speaker 1: something you need to investigate. But even if he's not
- 8:39Speaker 1: a crook, well maybe he should investigate. What happened was
- 8:41Speaker 1: they built the new fed building. Trump is an absolute
- 8:45Speaker 1: world class expert on this stuff. Looked over the building,
- 8:48Speaker 1: went through it and said, this is about maybe eight
- 8:51Speaker 1: nine hundred million worth of stuff here. They spent something
- 8:54Speaker 1: like three billions, so where'd the other two billion go?
- 8:57Speaker 1: That's worth an investigation. You don't have to pers investigate Powell.
- 9:02Speaker 1: That maybe broad the investigation out a little. So we'll
- 9:05Speaker 1: keep an eye on that today. You know, this is
- 9:09Speaker 1: hard to believe. Tim Cook took over from Steve Jobs.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Tim Cook has been the chairman of Apple for I
- 9:17Speaker 1: thought a few years. It turns out it's a lot
- 9:19Speaker 1: of years. Tim Cook is now sixty five. He's reached
- 9:22Speaker 1: retirement age. It's hard to believe. Boy, time really goes by.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Tim Cook is stepping down as CEO September one. He's
- 9:31Speaker 1: sixty five already and stepping down. Wow, So he'll transition
- 9:38Speaker 1: to the role of executive chairman. They've picked the new CEO.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It's John Turnus. He's fifty, been at Apple for like
- 9:45Speaker 1: twenty five years, and he's a real hardware guy. He's
- 9:49Speaker 1: very good at the hardware, and that's really Apple's main
- 9:52Speaker 1: business is hardware creating devices. He was very, very big
- 9:57Speaker 1: and crucial on the development of the iPhone and all
- 9:59Speaker 1: of so, and give Tim Cook credit. When Tim Cook
- 10:04Speaker 1: took over as chairman, the company was worth three hundred
- 10:06Speaker 1: and fifty billion. Today it's worth four trillion. So that's
- 10:11Speaker 1: a pretty good run. That's not bad at all. Hey,
- 10:15Speaker 1: you know you got the Swallwell, you got these congressmen,
- 10:20Speaker 1: the sexual harassment, rape charge, all this kind of stuff,
- 10:25Speaker 1: all these kind of shenanigans. There's a Republican two that's
- 10:29Speaker 1: got some problems. So there's a Senate Ethics Committee, which
- 10:34Speaker 1: is basically a fake thing. You know they always you remember, now,
- 10:36Speaker 1: Franklin got in a trouble. He was very proud to say,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I've turned it right over to the Senate Ethics Committee.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I want them to investigate. Well, the Senate Ethics Committee,
- 10:44Speaker 1: when they investigate, they'll investigate, but they do nothing about it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: That's why Franken and others love to have it go
- 10:50Speaker 1: to the Senate Ethics Committee because even if they find
- 10:53Speaker 1: all this stuff, all they do is send you a letter.
- 10:56Speaker 1: You just get a letter. It's like a warning. That's
- 10:59Speaker 1: all it is. But there's been a push to have
- 11:02Speaker 1: them release who they've been investigating through the years, who
- 11:06Speaker 1: had a real sexual harassment, rape, all kinds of misconduct,
- 11:10Speaker 1: who had Well, they released it it was twenty eight names.
- 11:13Speaker 1: There's twenty eight senators they've had to investigate. I mean
- 11:16Speaker 1: in a lot of bad stuff. Democrats win with fourteen,
- 11:21Speaker 1: Republicans had twelve. I know, you say, wait a minute,
- 11:25Speaker 1: that doesn't add up to twenty eight. Well, some of
- 11:26Speaker 1: them had multiple investigations. Remember I'll see Hastings, Democrat from Florida.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He got investigated a few times a few different incidents
- 11:36Speaker 1: through the years. So pretty bad stuff. Now the Mets
- 11:43Speaker 1: play later today. I think it's tonight seven o'clock. The
- 11:46Speaker 1: Mets are and eleven. They've just all lost eleven games
- 11:50Speaker 1: in a row, and some people believe it's the curse.
- 11:56Speaker 1: This mister met who's cute a missus Met too, I think,
- 12:02Speaker 1: And they walk around they were up here in our
- 12:04Speaker 1: hallways and they see you. They wave and they shake
- 12:08Speaker 1: your hand. That's about it. When it was Mom Donnie,
- 12:10Speaker 1: they're hugging him and kissing him. It was so this
- 12:14Speaker 1: went very very viral. Friend Sid Rosenberg started it and
- 12:17Speaker 1: went super viral, and then he put a curse on it,
- 12:21Speaker 1: like the Sid curse, and others put the curse on him,
- 12:25Speaker 1: and it seems to have worked. Since that day, the
- 12:29Speaker 1: Mets have lost eleven in a row. That's a long streak.
- 12:32Speaker 1: That's one of the longest. I think that's the longest
- 12:33Speaker 1: streak in twenty years. And tonight they play again. Will
- 12:37Speaker 1: it be twelve games in a row. I don't bet it.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Will I bet they lose twelve in a row. You know,
- 12:42Speaker 1: they're now the last place, Mets. They're in the last place.
- 12:45Speaker 1: And I don't know what you do about this. It's
- 12:49Speaker 1: I mean, this would be a hell of a coincidence.
- 12:51Speaker 1: The hugging and kissing Mom Donnie. Next thing, you know,
- 12:53Speaker 1: you lose eleven in a row, could be twelve in
- 12:55Speaker 1: a row. What do you do about it? I don't know.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Maybe have have Curtis come down. He was the Republican candidate.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Have Curtis come down and hug him. Uh, And then
- 13:09Speaker 1: you could, I guess you'd have to have Cuomo to
- 13:11Speaker 1: THEDI nobody wants to hug Cuomo. And who knows. You know,
- 13:14Speaker 1: he gets a little touchy feely there, missus met You
- 13:17Speaker 1: better stay back a little, but we'll see tonight. Keep
- 13:21Speaker 1: an eye on that game. Hey, Bruce Blakeman has a
- 13:24Speaker 1: great new ad out. It's kind of visual, you got
- 13:27Speaker 1: to really see it. But he's going after Kathy Hochel
- 13:31Speaker 1: and you know, she's just awful, just terrible, And I'm
- 13:35Speaker 1: gonna be a lot of ads. There's so many things
- 13:37Speaker 1: you can get her for. But one of the first
- 13:40Speaker 1: was when it comes to taxes. I don't think Mom,
- 13:43Speaker 1: Donnie or Hokele understands anything about how we tax people
- 13:49Speaker 1: or how we collect taxes. You know, they love to
- 13:51Speaker 1: yell and screen tax to billionaires pay their fair share.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I mean, maybe they're just lying, but I don't think
- 13:57Speaker 1: they know. I don't think they've ever looked at the numbers.
- 14:00Speaker 1: These wealthy billionaires pay most of the tax. They pay
- 14:03Speaker 1: way beyond their fair share. You know, the top one
- 14:07Speaker 1: percent pays like forty percent of our taxes. That's kind
- 14:11Speaker 1: of ridiculous. I mean, they basically pay it all. Without them,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you got nothing. They overpay like crazy, and that's good,
- 14:18Speaker 1: and maybe they should they can afford to. But right
- 14:21Speaker 1: now they're overpaying like crazy, and that makes up for
- 14:23Speaker 1: the people who don't pay any tax. But so Hochel
- 14:27Speaker 1: a couple of years ago, was yelling and screaming for
- 14:29Speaker 1: all you billionaires, or you'd Mago or you'd Trump billionaires,
- 14:33Speaker 1: get the hell out of New York, moved to Florida,
- 14:35Speaker 1: go away, don't ever come back. Well a lot of
- 14:38Speaker 1: them did, and we lost a huge amount of tax revenue.
- 14:41Speaker 1: So now she's saying, you know, please come back. She
- 14:43Speaker 1: actually even said, tell your friends to go to Florida
- 14:46Speaker 1: and tell them to come back, get them back here.
- 14:48Speaker 1: So Blakeman has put this together. You have to watch it.
- 14:50Speaker 1: It's up on my Twitter. You can see it there.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's really visual. You got to see the cliffs, and
- 14:54Speaker 1: it's got music, and you got to see the visuals
- 14:56Speaker 1: on it. But it's a great commercial, and let me
- 15:00Speaker 1: see if I can play it. Hang on a second,
- 15:02Speaker 1: it's here somewhere. I'll find it. It's in my phone.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I think this is it, right, hang on? Had you
- 15:13Speaker 1: got to lently? No shoot? I stay, you shoot, I go.
- 15:20Speaker 1: You gotta watch the videos, great beautiful pictures and stuff
- 15:24Speaker 1: going with it till the end, moving vans, So you've
- 15:30Speaker 1: got to lently, no shoot, I stay, you shoot, I go.
- 15:38Speaker 1: They sold me first step. Should we go down to
- 15:42Speaker 1: the pond beach where you'll see who you can bring
- 15:44Speaker 1: back home? Because our tax space has been writing it's fine. Yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 1: you gotta watch it. It's up on my Twitter if
- 15:49Speaker 1: you want to see it. But pretty interesting that she's
- 15:52Speaker 1: telling people to leave, just leave, get the hell out
- 15:54Speaker 1: of here. She says, move to Florida. Now it's a
- 15:57Speaker 1: year later. They moved to Florida two years later, and
- 15:59Speaker 1: she's bagging them to come back. I don't think I
- 16:01Speaker 1: don't think mom Donnie has ever looked at the tax numbers.
- 16:06Speaker 1: It sounds good to tax the billionaires, to go after Trump,
- 16:08Speaker 1: tax the billionaires. I don't think he's ever said that
- 16:11Speaker 1: any experts bring in the numbers. Let me see where
- 16:14Speaker 1: we get most of our tax revenue for. You know,
- 16:16Speaker 1: if you ran a restaurant, you do all these metrics,
- 16:19Speaker 1: who's our biggest customers, Where are we getting the most
- 16:21Speaker 1: revenue from? And you cater to that crowd. And that's
- 16:24Speaker 1: what you're supposed to do in government. That's what any
- 16:25Speaker 1: business would do. You cater to them and make sure
- 16:28Speaker 1: they stay. Anyway. Hey, well we'll take some calls in
- 16:31Speaker 1: a moment. Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten
- 16:35Speaker 1: is the number. Eight hundred three two one zero seven
- 16:38Speaker 1: ten
