- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up saying thanks for holding I just wanted to
- 0:02Speaker 1: give you all a pro tip for the twenty somethings
- 0:06Speaker 1: out there. Just do yourself a favor and become friends
- 0:10Speaker 1: with someone who's like ten, maybe like up to fifteen
- 0:13Speaker 1: years older than you. Seriously, like your best friend will
- 0:18Speaker 1: absolutely hype you up and tell you your ex is ugly
- 0:21Speaker 1: and like, help you stop this new girlfriend's Instagram. But like,
- 0:26Speaker 1: sometimes you meet someone who's already lived through it and
- 0:30Speaker 1: it's going to tell you straight out. I you know,
- 0:33Speaker 1: I was going through the worst breakup of my life,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and I was venting my best friend every single day
- 0:39Speaker 1: about it. I mean she was she was amazing, but
- 0:42Speaker 1: eventually we were just taking her and saying, she's literally
- 0:45Speaker 1: the worst. And then I decided to grab coffee with
- 0:50Speaker 1: one of my coworkers who's about fifteen years older than me,
- 0:55Speaker 1: and like, within five minutes, she completely changed my perspective.
- 1:00Speaker 1: She looked at me and said, he's grieving the future
- 1:04Speaker 1: you imagine, not the man who actually had.
- 1:07Speaker 2: That's good.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean it hurt a little to hear that,
- 1:16Speaker 1: but she's also absolutely right. You know, I just walked
- 1:22Speaker 1: into the coffee shop convinced my life was completely over,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and then I walked out, remembering that life keeps moving,
- 1:30Speaker 1: like I can move on from this. And it turns
- 1:33Speaker 1: out sometimes the best therapy is someone who's already survived
- 1:37Speaker 1: this chapter that you're currently convinced it like your whole story.
- 1:42Speaker 3: The thing is, too, is that you're big enough to
- 1:46Speaker 3: accept the advice. A lot of people don't accept the advice.
- 1:50Speaker 3: You know that are.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Someone's been, someone who's been through it.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Before it, And especially I think as a parent, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 3: like I'm a dad and I try to give my
- 1:58Speaker 3: boys some advice. I feel like and I remember you,
- 2:02Speaker 3: like this is my dad too. It's like, yeah, whatever, dad,
- 2:03Speaker 3: I'm doing it my way right. No, I've been there.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I know I know this, and you know they got
- 2:08Speaker 3: sometimes they got to learn a tough way. But I
- 2:10Speaker 3: would say, if somebody that you care about gives you
- 2:12Speaker 3: advice and you respect them, I'd.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Listen to them.
- 2:15Speaker 4: That's literally I feel like me and Kyle all the time,
- 2:17Speaker 4: like this, Oh my gosh, this just reminds me like, Okay,
- 2:20Speaker 4: when last month, when I'm like going through like all
- 2:23Speaker 4: the craziness of planning this reception, I kind of had
- 2:25Speaker 4: a crash out moment. I did, and I called. I
- 2:29Speaker 4: called one of my best friends, and I remember she
- 2:31Speaker 4: was like, oh, because we're supposed to meet up and
- 2:33Speaker 4: go shopping. She's like, do you want me to like
- 2:34Speaker 4: get you a drink? And I was like, I don't
- 2:36Speaker 4: need a drink, Like I like, I need a friend
- 2:39Speaker 4: right now. And I literally called Kyle hysterical hysterical, and
- 2:44Speaker 4: like five minutes later, I was like, you're so right,
- 2:46Speaker 4: well do that Like, I'm so lucky.
- 2:49Speaker 3: You know, I have enjoyed watching both of your your
- 2:51Speaker 3: friendship's blossom between.
- 2:52Speaker 2: The two of you.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Truly, Kyle, I seriously think like you're one of my
- 2:55Speaker 4: best friends.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I really though about you so much. We're besties.
- 2:59Speaker 4: We are, It's real, it's real.
- 3:02Speaker 2: That's good advice, Sam.
- 3:03Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna use that for
- 3:06Speaker 4: It's like it's like.
- 3:06Speaker 2: You working, you work, Sam works with Yoda. That was
- 3:09Speaker 2: good Yoda.
- 3:10Speaker 3: But although just for the record, Kyle is nowhere near
- 3:13Speaker 3: fifteen years older than Paipe.
- 3:15Speaker 4: We are a generation, but I'm millennial.
- 3:18Speaker 2: She's gen z. It's okay.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I like beyond that, then they do become more of
- 3:26Speaker 1: like you're superior. But as long as like they're still
- 3:29Speaker 1: see each other as like friends and peers, like it works.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Yeah for sure.
- 3:36Speaker 2: All right, Sam, thanks for calling in, Thank you for listening,
- 3:38Speaker 2: and thanks for that advice.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Listen to pick a mentor, pick a mentor or you know, yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 3: I got a buddy, the guy, the guy went camping
- 3:45Speaker 3: with last week. He's about fifteen years older than me,
- 3:48Speaker 3: and he gives me so much life advice. This guy's unbelievable.
- 3:51Speaker 4: He's already been through it.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I know, you know, he said to me, you give
- 3:54Speaker 2: some advice.
- 3:55Speaker 3: He gave me, so, you know, we have we have
- 3:58Speaker 3: a cabin up north and we let friends stay and
- 4:01Speaker 3: he has he has a place too, and his rule
- 4:05Speaker 3: was people could only stay there if somebody from his
- 4:09Speaker 3: immediate family was there, because people trash your house. And
- 4:12Speaker 3: I was like, boy, that's good advice, you know, even
- 4:15Speaker 3: though I mean, Peyton, you guys stayed there and you
- 4:16Speaker 3: didn't trash my house.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but you could have.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah we could have.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I've let other people stay there and they trashed my house.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Really so rude, Like, if someone's going to open up
- 4:26Speaker 4: their home to you, why would you be zeus is
- 4:28Speaker 4: law people law.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I've had people stay there before, and it was there,
- 4:34Speaker 3: it was really distorous, and they don't stay there again.
