- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey guys, as Zach and Donald, here, we have a
- 0:03Speaker 1: bit of bad news. It was just brought to our
- 0:06Speaker 1: attention that Sam Lloyd, who plays Ted the lawyer on
- 0:11Speaker 1: our show, passed away. And for me, this is this
- 0:15Speaker 1: is really, this is this is heartbreaking. Sam was a
- 0:20Speaker 1: very very amazing person and he used to he had
- 0:26Speaker 1: a we talk about it on the podcast, but he
- 0:29Speaker 1: was a part of a band called the Blanks. And
- 0:31Speaker 1: I remember realizing that Sam wasn't just a really funny actor,
- 0:37Speaker 1: but he was also a really talented singer. And I
- 0:41Speaker 1: played basketball with him, and he was a very good
- 0:44Speaker 1: basketball player. And you know, he was also a good friend,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and he was.
- 0:48Speaker 2: The nicest man I think I've ever met. He was
- 0:52Speaker 2: so sweet and kind and just love to laugh. I
- 0:55Speaker 2: mean when you know, he would come on and play
- 0:57Speaker 2: that super nerdy lawyer character, but he would We would
- 0:59Speaker 2: all crack up so hard with Sam. And interestingly enough,
- 1:04Speaker 2: he was a really good basketball player, right, Donald, Man,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:06Speaker 1: There was an amazing basketball player. I remember. I used
- 1:09Speaker 1: to play in this league called the NBA Entertainment League,
- 1:12Speaker 1: and the only qualification that you needed to have to
- 1:15Speaker 1: be in the NBA Entertainment League was be in the
- 1:18Speaker 1: entertainment industry, and I would try to recruit Sam every
- 1:24Speaker 1: Sunday to play for my team, and he would say
- 1:28Speaker 1: no because the Patriots are playing and I can't miss
- 1:31Speaker 1: the Patriots play. And I just thought he would be
- 1:34Speaker 1: such like he would be such a he would be
- 1:37Speaker 1: such a secret weapon because nobody would assume that Sam
- 1:40Speaker 1: Lloyd could play basketball that well. And he was assassin
- 1:44Speaker 1: on the court. He was a killer on the court.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah, And like his character, I know that he found love,
- 1:51Speaker 2: true love later in life and just had a baby
- 1:55Speaker 2: and he you know, this was caused by a tumor
- 1:57Speaker 2: in his brain and he had been in fighting in
- 2:00Speaker 2: a long time. And I actually saw him within the
- 2:02Speaker 2: last six months or so, and he looked great, He
- 2:05Speaker 2: looked amazing, and I I didn't want to talk about
- 2:08Speaker 2: you know, I stayed, I danced around it because I
- 2:10Speaker 2: didn't want to bring up the subject if he didn't
- 2:11Speaker 2: want to talk about it.
- 2:12Speaker 3: And he just looked fully recovered.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And today he finally lost his battle with cancer.
- 2:18Speaker 1: That's it's heartbreaking.
- 2:19Speaker 2: So we we we we love him, and uh and
- 2:22Speaker 2: we know the fans do and uh so this is
- 2:24Speaker 2: very sad. So if you guys want to contribute to
- 2:27Speaker 2: help his wife and baby. I myself have already given
- 2:31Speaker 2: to it, and Joel is going to uh let us
- 2:33Speaker 2: know if anyone wants the linkold go fund me is
- 2:35Speaker 2: a little confusing, so just search Sam Lloyd go fund
- 2:38Speaker 2: me and and you'll find it.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And Joel will also put it in the description of
- 2:42Speaker 1: the episode this week.
- 2:44Speaker 2: So we love you Sam.
- 2:46Speaker 1: We love you Sam.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And uh and and and I'm sure anyone listening here
- 2:50Speaker 2: can attest to how hard that fella made us laugh.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And uh and I know for sure that he made
- 2:56Speaker 2: a difference in a lot of people's lives, because we
- 2:59Speaker 2: all need to laugh, and Sam made us laugh. So
- 3:03Speaker 2: now we're gonna switch tones. And uh and in the
- 3:05Speaker 2: spirit in honor of Sammy, we were going to go
- 3:08Speaker 2: into episode, So here we go. We just did a
- 3:12Speaker 2: sort of a drinks thing where like, you know, nine
- 3:15Speaker 2: people get together, you make a special cocktail and just
- 3:19Speaker 2: kind of all shoot the ship over zoom.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It was fun. Wow, maybe we could do that to Giddy.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I wouldn't I wouldn't mind that at all. You know what,
- 3:27Speaker 1: speaking of drinking, it's come to my attention, thanks to
- 3:31Speaker 1: social media that every time I say, you know what
- 3:34Speaker 1: I mean? Some people online are playing a drinking game
- 3:38Speaker 1: and are taking sure. Yeah, now here's the thing. I listen.
- 3:41Speaker 1: We listened to all the podcasts, right.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Do you say you know what I mean? A lot?
- 3:44Speaker 2: I mean, I just that's just the way.
- 3:46Speaker 1: How anyone I don't know how anyone can make it
- 3:48Speaker 1: through the podcast without being on the floor drunk? Dude,
- 3:54Speaker 1: how does that happen?
- 3:55Speaker 2: I think it's because I'm just used to you. That's
- 3:57Speaker 2: just the way you speak. You always say that, or
- 3:59Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Know what I'm saying right right, right. First of all,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I'm sorry I didn't realize it.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Don't mess up, don't mess up their drinking game.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I'm still gonna say that. Ship, but I can make
- 4:09Speaker 1: it through the podcast. Whoever has made it through the
- 4:11Speaker 1: podcast after saying after me saying you know what I mean,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but you have a problem, right, and once
- 4:18Speaker 1: quarantine is over, let's address it.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Well, I'm just honored that people are doing drinking games
- 4:23Speaker 2: related to the podcast.
- 4:24Speaker 3: That's exciting.
- 4:25Speaker 1: There's no way anyone can make it through this podcast
- 4:28Speaker 1: with me saying you know what I mean without being
- 4:31Speaker 1: so drunk that they can't move anymore.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Let's do let's do an informal count. You guys how
- 4:37Speaker 2: many times he says, you know what I mean in
- 4:39Speaker 2: this episode, and then we'll know how drunk people are
- 4:42Speaker 2: going to.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Get right on. I like that idea. There's a lot
- 4:46Speaker 1: of that idea. If you guys aren't playing this game,
- 4:49Speaker 1: now's the time to get on board.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Right every time.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Today's gone.
- 4:57Speaker 1: To the line that you used.
- 5:00Speaker 2: To be the friendship, like the vine of friendship.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Never here's to you and he is to me.
- 5:18Speaker 2: God, we gotta really schedule that full lame miss episode.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I can't wait for the lame app I know, and I.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Want to play Eponine and Cosette. You can be Jeanvert.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I want to be GeV Roche.
- 5:32Speaker 1: You want all the major roles.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Good evening, dear Inspector, lovely evening, Mike.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Nobody wants to be Javert. Why does anybody ever want?
- 5:39Speaker 2: I know this man, my friends. His name is Spector Javert.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So don't believe a word he says, because none of
- 5:44Speaker 2: it's true. This only goes to show what little people
- 5:48Speaker 2: can do.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Do you hear the people.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Sing, that's gonna be hard. We're gonna have to do
- 5:53Speaker 2: every part. Dan's inna have a lot of mixing to
- 5:55Speaker 2: do when we do the big back one closer. But
- 5:59Speaker 2: let's say the best song in the world. Welcome to
- 6:02Speaker 2: Fake Doctors, Real friends, Countison Donald.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Rot six seven eight stories.
- 6:08Speaker 3: We made about a bunch of dogs and nurses.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Said, he's a story. So gather.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yead as he SIPs his wine. What are we drinking today?
- 6:31Speaker 2: You know, a lot of discussion wine wine, Okay, a
- 6:35Speaker 2: lot of discussion on what will Donald drink today?
- 6:38Speaker 3: Because it's your shoes.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Shake it up? You had you had an orange juice
- 6:42Speaker 2: ticky and you had I just love that in my mind.
- 6:45Speaker 2: You're just going through an empty liquor cabinet and seeing
- 6:48Speaker 2: what's left.
- 6:49Speaker 1: You know, I made a supermarket run. I loved up. Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I gloved up. I'm masked up and you know, got
- 6:55Speaker 1: a bunch of food and some libation for said o
- 7:00Speaker 1: kajon that we are doing right now. I also, yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 1: you know Joe Rogan, one of his sponsors is Alpha Brain.
- 7:09Speaker 2: What's a brain?
- 7:10Speaker 1: It's like this pill that you take that you know
- 7:13Speaker 1: helps you focus.
- 7:14Speaker 2: So Joe Rogan's marketing worked on you, and you bought it,
- 7:16Speaker 2: and I bought it.
- 7:17Speaker 3: So do you feel smarter.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I don't know if I feel smarter, but I'm definitely
- 7:21Speaker 1: more conscious of how many times I'm gonna say you
- 7:23Speaker 1: know what I mean today?
- 7:24Speaker 2: All Right, Well, the real test is if you say
- 7:29Speaker 2: you know what I mean or you know what I'm
- 7:30Speaker 2: saying less and Joe Rogan's magical pill is working on you.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It could be a place ball effect or it could
- 7:36Speaker 1: actually be real. If it is real, Alpha Brain, we
- 7:40Speaker 1: would love to market your product as well.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Oh my god, it's funny. Yeah, I've been. I've been
- 7:45Speaker 2: listening to podcasts more and more since we've been doing
- 7:47Speaker 2: this one, and it's funny hearing all the different things
- 7:49Speaker 2: people sell, and yeah, there's a handful of products. I'm like,
- 7:52Speaker 2: I wanted to try too, because people are like good,
- 7:56Speaker 2: especially since a lot of people like I imagine we are
- 7:58Speaker 2: as we start to do advertising. We've told iHeart and everyone,
- 8:01Speaker 2: we're only gonna want to sell things that we really
- 8:04Speaker 2: like or believe in. And so when, like, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 2: Pete Holmes is telling you, like honestly about this priority
- 8:10Speaker 2: tried and really liked it, I'm like, yeah, I want
- 8:12Speaker 2: to try that. Like it's like a genuine testimonial. And
- 8:15Speaker 2: I've been walking around the house and I'm like, there's
- 8:17Speaker 2: things in my house that are so good. I said
- 8:20Speaker 2: to my gal, I said, you know, I could do
- 8:23Speaker 2: an ad for this sponge. This sponge is so good.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You always go back to dishes. Look at you.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I do so many dishes. I don't know what it
- 8:31Speaker 2: is about quarantine, but I do so many dishes. I mean,
- 8:34Speaker 2: does everyone else out there feel like you're doing dishes
- 8:36Speaker 2: for like a quarter of the day.
- 8:38Speaker 3: There's so many dishes.
- 8:39Speaker 1: The worst part is is you clean your kitchen only
- 8:43Speaker 1: to cook in it right right away again, you know
- 8:46Speaker 1: what I mean.
- 8:46Speaker 2: My dad told me this story about he was in
- 8:49Speaker 2: the military and he had he was had dish duty,
- 8:52Speaker 2: you know, and he cleaned a pot that was like,
- 8:54Speaker 2: you know that you would literally feed.
- 8:56Speaker 1: An army with.
- 8:56Speaker 3: It was like, you know, a four foot.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Pot or something. And he said he spent hours and
- 9:01Speaker 2: he'd finally get all the grime off, and he finally
- 9:03Speaker 2: was so proud of himself. It was like a giant task.
- 9:06Speaker 2: And he'd hang it up on the hook and just
- 9:08Speaker 2: as he hung it up, somebody would take it off
- 9:10Speaker 2: and put it back on the stone. And that's how
- 9:13Speaker 2: I feel at my house anyway.
- 9:17Speaker 1: But you're being fed.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'm being fed very well, and I do feel like
- 9:21Speaker 2: this isn't an ad. But I'm telling you this scrub
- 9:23Speaker 2: Daddy sponge, I could do an ad for it. I
- 9:26Speaker 2: really stand by and when I look at my whole,
- 9:28Speaker 2: my whole palette of tools for cleaning all these pots
- 9:31Speaker 2: and pans, my go to is the scrub Daddy and Coincidentllie,
- 9:35Speaker 2: it's got scrub in the house. Bease Buckers should be
- 9:38Speaker 2: advertising with us, Joelle call scrub Daddy. Let's get into.
- 9:45Speaker 3: This, right, Jenney Bonkin wrote us, Yeah, thanks, yes.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And Thanksgiving episode written by Jenay. You went to college with.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Janney went to Northwestern so like me, so we know
- 9:54Speaker 2: that she's very smart. Did you guys go at the
- 9:55Speaker 2: same time we did. I don't think we really knew.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I think we were acquaintances there. I also, you know,
- 10:02Speaker 2: both Carrie Brothers and Josh Rayden went there, and I
- 10:06Speaker 2: knew them as acquaintances.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Well, there are a lot of people that went to Northwestern, dud.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I know there's a whole Northwestern Hollywood mafia because they
- 10:14Speaker 2: have a very good film and TV program But It's funny.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Two of my best friends went there, and I was
- 10:20Speaker 2: just barely acquaintances with them there, and now we're as
- 10:24Speaker 2: close as close can be with you. You're the close friend
- 10:27Speaker 2: that didn't go to Northwestern.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I love those guys too.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Did you go to the performing arts high school?
- 10:32Speaker 1: By the way, I didn't. I went to professional Children's School.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Shout out to the professional children's school.
- 10:37Speaker 2: You know, is that the Fame High School.
- 10:39Speaker 1: No, I didn't get into the Fame High School. I
- 10:41Speaker 1: auditioned for it, and I try.
- 10:42Speaker 2: To get a picture you dancing on a cab like
- 10:44Speaker 2: they do, like Leroy did in Fame.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I would have loved to have been Lee Roy and
- 10:49Speaker 1: danced on top of a cab in any type of
- 10:53Speaker 1: Fame production. Growing up in New York City and knowing
- 10:59Speaker 1: that the school was up the block from where I lived.
- 11:01Speaker 3: So you had an audition and you didn't get in.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I did not get in. You know, auditioning is tough
- 11:06Speaker 1: because it's like one moment and you got to nail it.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And this was you know, we're all very young, and
- 11:10Speaker 1: a lot of people prepared a lot more than I did,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and I thought I was just going to get by.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I had already worked and everything like that, and I
- 11:16Speaker 1: thought I was going to get by just on the
- 11:18Speaker 1: fact that I was a working actor already. And I
- 11:21Speaker 1: remember really wanting to go to that school and I
- 11:24Speaker 1: didn't get into LaGuardia, and all my friends got into LaGuardia,
- 11:28Speaker 1: which is the Fame High School in New York. And
- 11:31Speaker 1: my mom was like, there's another school called the Professional
- 11:34Speaker 1: Children's School, but it's a private school and if you
- 11:37Speaker 1: go there, you're going to have to work and get
- 11:40Speaker 1: jobs in New York to pay for school. And I
- 11:43Speaker 1: was like, Oh, that sounds way more enticing than going
- 11:47Speaker 1: and you know, I'd be a professional already. And so
- 11:51Speaker 1: throughout high school I did commercials and stuff like that.
- 11:55Speaker 1: So you paid for your own so I could pay
- 11:57Speaker 1: for my education.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's interesting. I never heard of someone who paid
- 12:01Speaker 2: for their own high school work.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Well, I was. I had already been working as an actor,
- 12:05Speaker 1: so when I went to that school, there were a
- 12:06Speaker 1: bunch of kids like me who did that. So, like
- 12:09Speaker 1: you look at the people that went to that school,
- 12:11Speaker 1: it's like Scarlett Johanson, Malcolm Jamal Warner, I mean pretty
- 12:15Speaker 1: much everybody that was on The Cosby Show went to
- 12:17Speaker 1: that school. Coley Culkin, Sarah Michelle.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Some of these were you friends with some of these folks.
- 12:22Speaker 1: All of these people, you know, I remember, I remember
- 12:25Speaker 1: when I I didn't know Scarlett because Scarlett's a lot
- 12:27Speaker 1: younger than me, but I you know, the year I
- 12:30Speaker 1: got there, Malcolm Jamal Warner and Tempest Bloodsoe had just
- 12:33Speaker 1: graduated and they were on The Cosby Show. And I
- 12:37Speaker 1: remember Anthony Michael Hall went there and I thought that
- 12:40Speaker 1: was the coolest thing ever because him and the other
- 12:43Speaker 1: kid from Weird Science went there, and that was one
- 12:45Speaker 1: of my favorite.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Movies of all time me too, back in the day.
- 12:47Speaker 1: All right, let's get back to this. So Jeanne went
- 12:50Speaker 1: to college with.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Yes, But I want to talk about one more thing
- 12:53Speaker 2: before that. When you saw Fame and you saw Leroy
- 12:57Speaker 2: Fame the movie, were you like, oh my god, I
- 12:59Speaker 2: want to be Leroy.
- 13:00Speaker 1: No. I was never like, oh my god, I want
- 13:02Speaker 1: to be Leroy.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Because Lero was a dancer, because you weren't really a dancer,
- 13:05Speaker 2: although you are.
- 13:06Speaker 1: No, that's not why. Leroy was a very tough kid dude,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and you know, had a switch blade, had a bunch
- 13:12Speaker 1: of knives under his jacket, and stuff like that, like
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And when.
- 13:16Speaker 2: You grew up in Hell's Kitchen, I mean, did you Yeah?
- 13:19Speaker 1: Absolutely, I grew up in Hell's Kitchen. And Hell's Kitchen
- 13:21Speaker 1: is a very tough neighborhood, and you know, there are
- 13:25Speaker 1: a lot of other very very very tough neighborhoods in
- 13:28Speaker 1: New York City. And so I just remember looking back
- 13:31Speaker 1: at Fame and being like, if I could be anybody,
- 13:33Speaker 1: I want to be Bruno because he played the music
- 13:37Speaker 1: and got to hang out with Irene Kara for the
- 13:40Speaker 1: whole movie. They were like tight and best friends because
- 13:43Speaker 1: he had the music and she could sing. And that's
- 13:45Speaker 1: how the song Fame comes about. Where Bruno's dad is
- 13:48Speaker 1: in the middle of the street.
- 13:49Speaker 3: For the children.
- 13:50Speaker 2: If you're not following, you need to watch a very
- 13:52Speaker 2: special film called Fame Speaker.
- 13:55Speaker 1: How did he get those speakers to get that loud?
- 13:57Speaker 1: That's what I want to know. In the middle of
- 13:59Speaker 1: where ever you know the school was at the time,
- 14:03Speaker 1: his dad pulls up and Blair's Fame. I'm going out
- 14:08Speaker 1: of no where. People are dancing, come out of the
- 14:10Speaker 1: school and are dancing on top of the cab and
- 14:13Speaker 1: on top of all the cars.
- 14:14Speaker 2: And I was so young when I saw that movie,
- 14:17Speaker 2: and I was like, this is a real school, like
- 14:19Speaker 2: you can dance in the streets.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Well, I mean I I don't know much about the
- 14:25Speaker 1: school because, as I said, I didn't get in, And
- 14:27Speaker 1: those were one of the reasons why I wanted to
- 14:29Speaker 1: get And I just wanted to break out in the
- 14:30Speaker 1: middle of the song in the cafeteria, just like out
- 14:33Speaker 1: of nowhere, I'm hungry for steak.
- 14:35Speaker 2: And you wanted Debbie Allen to be giving you the monologue.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I got to meet Debbie Allen.
- 14:39Speaker 3: You did Did you do the monologue for you?
- 14:41Speaker 1: She didn't, but she called me Leroy accidentally in the Yes,
- 14:45Speaker 1: Oh my god, you can check it out. Okay. So
- 14:47Speaker 1: I did this movie called Next Day Air and it's
- 14:49Speaker 1: with me most Steph, Mike Epps, Wood Harris, A bunch
- 14:53Speaker 1: of people are in it, Lauren London, like a bunch
- 14:55Speaker 1: of people are in it, right, And it takes place
- 14:58Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, and I'm a I deliver packages. So the
- 15:03Speaker 1: name of the movie's Next Day Era and the name
- 15:05Speaker 1: of the company in the movie that I worked for
- 15:07Speaker 1: was n DA Right, and the manager of the company
- 15:11Speaker 1: was Debbie Allen. Who played my mom, who gave me
- 15:15Speaker 1: the job at the company, right, my character's mom following
- 15:18Speaker 1: and we're doing the scene and she's, you know, yelling
- 15:23Speaker 1: at me like she did to Leroy all the time.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And in the middle of yelling at me, she goes
- 15:29Speaker 1: lee right boy, And I was like, what, wow?
- 15:34Speaker 3: I mean, did you think it was an honor? I
- 15:35Speaker 3: would have thought it was an honor.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I was so excited and so happy that I broke
- 15:38Speaker 1: out into song. What do you start?
- 15:41Speaker 3: Where do you start?
- 15:42Speaker 1: Singing? Fame? I'm gonna live forever? I knew right then
- 15:46Speaker 1: and there.
- 15:47Speaker 3: That's incredible.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I mean, what an honor?
- 15:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it was amazing. I think it's in the I
- 15:52Speaker 1: think it's in. If they do the gag reel and
- 15:55Speaker 1: the credits like most movies, like a lot of movies do,
- 15:59Speaker 1: then it's there. Or it might be on the DVD
- 16:03Speaker 1: or whatever it is.
- 16:04Speaker 2: But yeah, out seek out the gag reel of Next
- 16:06Speaker 2: Day air and yes to see Debbie Allen call Donald Leroy?
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yes, best day of my life?
- 16:13Speaker 3: Can we get into the episode? For God's sakes?
- 16:15Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 16:16Speaker 2: Melitie Keene directed it and ality only directed one episode
- 16:19Speaker 2: of Scrubs, but did lots of other shows. Just looking
- 16:23Speaker 2: at her credits on IMDb, she's one many many a
- 16:26Speaker 2: show and had Emmy nominations for La Law and she
- 16:30Speaker 2: did a lot of Glee. But with us, she was
- 16:32Speaker 2: only uh one round once.
- 16:34Speaker 1: You know.
- 16:35Speaker 2: The first thing that happens to in this episode that
- 16:36Speaker 2: is beautiful is Deontay Gordon at sixteen seconds.
- 16:39Speaker 1: In immediately as you hand him, he hands you a drink.
- 16:43Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, he does as you walk
- 16:45Speaker 1: into a bar. That was also very interesting for me
- 16:48Speaker 1: because around that time I was definitely your best wing
- 16:52Speaker 1: man when it came to going.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Your life talk about real life, because I was nerdy
- 16:57Speaker 2: and had no game and this.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Well, I don't know if you had no game, but.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Well I was shyer than you, and you were very
- 17:05Speaker 2: I just.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Had been out. I just had been in Hollywood a
- 17:07Speaker 1: little bit longer as a working actor than you had
- 17:10Speaker 1: at that moment, and toil.
- 17:12Speaker 2: You were very confident. And the scene is definitely in
- 17:16Speaker 2: the spirit of our real lives. But wait before we
- 17:18Speaker 2: get to you chatting up the wing manning for me,
- 17:22Speaker 2: So you guys, at sixteen seconds, the guy who hands
- 17:24Speaker 2: me a beer is Deontay Gordon, and he not only
- 17:28Speaker 2: was he Donald's stand in for the entire run of
- 17:30Speaker 2: the show, but he was a very good friend of ours,
- 17:33Speaker 2: is a good friend of ours, and Donald plays golf
- 17:35Speaker 2: with them still all the time.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Actually, Deontae and I met on Clueless, the television show,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and he wasn't my stand in, but he did background
- 17:44Speaker 1: on that one, and then he went over and was
- 17:45Speaker 1: doing stand in workover on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. And
- 17:48Speaker 1: when I went and did Sabrina the Teenage Witch, he
- 17:52Speaker 1: was my stand in for that, And I had known
- 17:56Speaker 1: him from doing Clueless, and I was like, dude, if
- 17:59Speaker 1: I get anything else, you're coming with me. OK. So
- 18:02Speaker 1: he's still he stood in for me for quite a.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Few So, for those of you who don't know, the
- 18:07Speaker 2: stand ins are what happens. We we block out, We
- 18:10Speaker 2: do figure out where we're gonna go and and all
- 18:12Speaker 2: where we're all going to stand and rehearsal, and where
- 18:14Speaker 2: the cameras are going to move. They put marks on
- 18:16Speaker 2: the ground, and then while we go off and go
- 18:19Speaker 2: to hair makeup or or do all their learn our
- 18:22Speaker 2: lines and do other stuff, the stand ins stand in
- 18:25Speaker 2: our places and do all the blocking so that the
- 18:26Speaker 2: cameramen can light them and can can practice the camera
- 18:30Speaker 2: moves and all that stuff, and they're supposed to be
- 18:33Speaker 2: roughly your skin tone and roughly your same height.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Well, but because.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Deonti was Donald's friend, he was standing in for him.
- 18:39Speaker 2: But Deontay literally was so much shorter than Donald that
- 18:42Speaker 2: they built special shoes for him. I don't know how
- 18:45Speaker 2: high those platforms were. Do you remember he would wear them?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah, well, him and JK wore them too, for when
- 18:49Speaker 1: because JK would stand in for Cox and he would
- 18:52Speaker 1: stand in for the janitor. So he had special shoes
- 18:55Speaker 1: for when he had to stand in for the janitor.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Right exactly.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And yeah, and they made it so thatte was my
- 19:00Speaker 1: height because he's a little bit shorter than I am.
- 19:04Speaker 1: And I remember one night we were filming an episode,
- 19:06Speaker 1: the Christmas episode where he has to run, and they
- 19:09Speaker 1: made him run in those damn shoes, and I was like, dude,
- 19:11Speaker 1: please don't please, don't don't die.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Dude, was funny watching those guys in their giant platform boots.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Looking like Frankenstein the Frankenstein shoes. So yeah, so Deontay Gordon, man,
- 19:24Speaker 1: holy cow.
- 19:25Speaker 2: He's a great guy. And you know the standings, the
- 19:27Speaker 2: standings for all all of our standings for for the
- 19:30Speaker 2: main cast were there all the time, and we became
- 19:33Speaker 2: really good friends with them, and we would go out
- 19:35Speaker 2: to bars with them and we would hang out with them.
- 19:36Speaker 1: And I still hang out with Deontay. He and I
- 19:38Speaker 1: played golf quite a bit.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Rabbit do was my standing and we and we
- 19:43Speaker 2: could never find them, so we made up a song.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Do you remember the song? Rab Rabbit do, Rabbit do?
- 19:49Speaker 3: Where's rabbit rabbit rabbit do?
- 19:53Speaker 1: Uh? You know, Deontae was always punctual, so we but uh,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Scott Harris, who was one of our first a d's,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and Frank Cameron, who's better known as doctor Mickhead. We
- 20:08Speaker 1: all play golf together. Well not right now because we're quarantined.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I hope I didn't say Frank's last name wrong because
- 20:14Speaker 1: I called him Frank Mickhead all the time.
- 20:15Speaker 3: But call him Frank mckhead to his face, absolutely like that.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Does he like that mckhead is a big deal, dude,
- 20:23Speaker 1: mckhead mckhead.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Does Mickhead get recognized out in the world the people
- 20:26Speaker 3: go mickhead.
- 20:27Speaker 1: When he go I'm sure when he goes to his
- 20:29Speaker 1: home he's from Canada originally. I bet you they know
- 20:32Speaker 1: who he is in Canada, and I bet you there
- 20:34Speaker 1: are a lot of Scrubs fans if they saw him,
- 20:35Speaker 1: they'd be like, holy shit, that's Mickhead.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I was watching a movie and a Beard Fasse was
- 20:41Speaker 2: prominently featured as a background person.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I was some Skyfall. He's in Skyfall on an airplane. No,
- 20:47Speaker 1: he's on a train.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I think it was a David Fincher movie, one of
- 20:54Speaker 2: the big David Fincher movies. And there's an airplane and
- 20:56Speaker 2: the camera is going into the star whoever it is,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and he goes right by Beard Fuss and I was
- 21:01Speaker 2: I screamed.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I was like, Beard Fusse, Yeah, I think it might.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I truly believe it might have been Skyfall. Okay, but
- 21:07Speaker 1: uh yeah. So I played golf with those guys and
- 21:10Speaker 1: we get it in Mickhead is a really good golfer.
- 21:12Speaker 1: He's and so Scott Harris believe it or not, really, yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and so's and so are you Deontay. I know you're
- 21:18Speaker 1: listening right now. You're a good golfer too.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Yes, Youtuboe Deontay.
- 21:22Speaker 2: You know I told everyone in the audience about Lens
- 21:25Speaker 2: spiking and how and I and I happen to find
- 21:26Speaker 2: it at nineteen seconds in there's a guy in a
- 21:29Speaker 2: yellow shirt. You're gonna see it. Bam, right into the lens.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Bam. The show barely started someone spiking the lens.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Also, yeah, go ahead, do you remember what up? Dough? Yeah?
- 21:41Speaker 2: What is that?
- 21:42Speaker 1: I don't know where we start, but we started doing that,
- 21:45Speaker 1: and it was one of those things that we would
- 21:47Speaker 1: do to annoy the crew or maybe even the directors,
- 21:52Speaker 1: where we'd always be like, how up.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Dog?
- 21:58Speaker 1: And you do it in the episode it right here
- 22:01Speaker 1: when I walk in and you say what up?
- 22:05Speaker 2: I laughed allow when I go m Jennifer, when I
- 22:10Speaker 2: see the pretty girl, you're Homer Simpson.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like.
- 22:15Speaker 2: It's yeah, it's exactly like that in might Vo.
- 22:17Speaker 3: You're here, Jennifer.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Also fat Albert cast, fat Albert cast, Holy cow.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Now I don't really know. I know what fat Albert is,
- 22:28Speaker 2: but I never watched it.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Did you watch it?
- 22:30Speaker 1: I grew up on fat Albert, fat Albert and the
- 22:32Speaker 1: Brown Hornet that was the so fat Albert was the show.
- 22:37Speaker 1: And inside of the show fat Albert, they would jet
- 22:40Speaker 1: to the clubhouse in the Junkyard to watch the Brown Hornet,
- 22:45Speaker 1: which was another show, but this one's about a superhero. Uh,
- 22:49Speaker 1: and so fat Albert and the Gang after they did
- 22:52Speaker 1: like it was like Bill Cobsby was like, not only
- 22:54Speaker 1: is fat Albert gonna be a prominent story on the
- 22:58Speaker 1: Fat Albert Show, but we're gonna introduce another story called, uh,
- 23:02Speaker 1: the Brown Hornet, and the Brown Hornet was a superhero. Obviously,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I used to love fat Albert and the Cosby kids.
- 23:10Speaker 2: What would that? What would what would now? Cosby would do?
- 23:13Speaker 2: How many of the voices?
- 23:14Speaker 1: He did all of them? I think all of them. No,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I don't know about all of them, but he did
- 23:18Speaker 1: most of them. I don't know if he did I
- 23:19Speaker 1: don't know if he did Rudy, but he definitely did
- 23:22Speaker 1: fat Albert to.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Your mushmouth impressed personation, Bill.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Cobb, we definitely did mush mouth. Maybe, folks, are you
- 23:29Speaker 1: going to me? The bargain, the basement, mint, the Bible
- 23:33Speaker 1: maybe the biggest base.
- 23:34Speaker 2: And what would happen in an episode of fat Albert?
- 23:36Speaker 2: Like what was the premise they were just getting? They
- 23:39Speaker 2: went through?
- 23:39Speaker 1: They went through? Well, yeah, but it was also lessons
- 23:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean? You know, regardless of what
- 23:49Speaker 1: people might think of Bill Cosby right now and how
- 23:51Speaker 1: they you know, view.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Him, we're not talking about we learned about Blae were
- 23:57Speaker 2: back in the day.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Educational wise, he was you know, he educated a lot
- 24:02Speaker 1: of young people. You know, there were picture pages, there
- 24:06Speaker 1: was so many things.
- 24:08Speaker 2: So the show was educational for young absolutely, absolutely.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I love Bill Cosby. And the one thing was Rudy,
- 24:16Speaker 1: if I'm right, if I remember correctly, Rudy was the
- 24:19Speaker 1: one that hung out with these guys who had a
- 24:21Speaker 1: little bit of money. Already, everybody else is broke except
- 24:24Speaker 1: for Rudy. So when they would go to the junk yard,
- 24:26Speaker 1: they were a junk yard band, right, And so when
- 24:29Speaker 1: they would cut to the junk yard band, Rudy actually
- 24:31Speaker 1: had an electric guitar and he would be jamming with
- 24:33Speaker 1: them while everybody else is playing trash from the junkyard, right.
- 24:36Speaker 2: But were they good on their trash when they play?
- 24:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely. I mean, if you ever listened to
- 24:41Speaker 1: Fat Albert, what did you say a lot of voices,
- 24:45Speaker 1: but not all. If you ever watched Fat Albert, the
- 24:48Speaker 1: music was always on point. It was for me, it
- 24:51Speaker 1: was really awesome to see brown people to see black
- 24:54Speaker 1: people on television during you know, the Smurfs and all
- 24:57Speaker 1: of these other shows where it wasn't where you you couldn't.
- 25:00Speaker 3: See that right exactly.
- 25:01Speaker 2: And then they made a movie, a live action movie
- 25:04Speaker 2: with Keenan. Yes, I never saw it. I mean, I
- 25:07Speaker 2: think Keenan's fucking hilarious, but I never.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Say they had a lot of very talented, very funny,
- 25:13Speaker 1: very very funny people in that movie.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yeah, Keenan hilarious.
- 25:18Speaker 2: You know, he was in my film Going in Style,
- 25:21Speaker 2: and he came in in one day and his scene
- 25:23Speaker 2: was to just he's supposed to be, you know, disciplining
- 25:27Speaker 2: if you will. He's a store manager that's caught Morgan Freeman,
- 25:30Speaker 2: Michael Kaine and Alan Arkins shoplifting in his grocery store,
- 25:35Speaker 2: and he came in and just it was so funny
- 25:38Speaker 2: the shit he was doing. And then at a certain
- 25:40Speaker 2: point I had this idea like, I'll bet if we
- 25:42Speaker 2: talk about stand ins, I bet if we bring in
- 25:44Speaker 2: the stand ins for these three guys who are so intimidating,
- 25:48Speaker 2: when I put the cameras on Keenan, he'll be even
- 25:50Speaker 2: more free.
- 25:51Speaker 3: To just go nuts.
- 25:53Speaker 2: So I pulled the legends out and put in their standings.
- 25:56Speaker 2: We shot over their shoulders, and Keenan was just now
- 25:59Speaker 2: that he wasn't like you, like anyone would be intimidated
- 26:01Speaker 2: by MICHAELK.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Morgan Freeman.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I don't think he was intimidated by them, but he
- 26:04Speaker 1: definitely doesn't want to hurt their feelings.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Intimidated maybe the wrong word, but you know what I mean.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Like, I personally, if I was the actor, would feel
- 26:10Speaker 2: way more free to riff if I'm talking to Morgan
- 26:13Speaker 2: Freeman's stand in and I'm not, like you know, in
- 26:15Speaker 2: my head about it. And so my point is he
- 26:17Speaker 2: came up with the funniest shit and I put a.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Keenan is amazing. I've known him since we were really young.
- 26:23Speaker 1: He might have been a teenager when I was like
- 26:25Speaker 1: in my early twenties and I moved out to Los
- 26:28Speaker 1: Angeles and I was doing Clueless, the television show, and
- 26:31Speaker 1: he was doing all that, and you know, it's it's
- 26:35Speaker 1: really interesting when you when you meet people and then
- 26:38Speaker 1: they wind up being on the one of the funniest
- 26:41Speaker 1: shows in the history of shows, you know what I mean.
- 26:43Speaker 1: We've been fortunate enough to know quite a few people,
- 26:46Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And Keenan's one of those
- 26:48Speaker 1: people that you know, when we were younger, you knew
- 26:50Speaker 1: that he was going to be I didn't know he
- 26:53Speaker 1: was going to be on satur Night Live, but I
- 26:54Speaker 1: knew he was always going to be working in this
- 26:57Speaker 1: industry because he was always funny and he's so talented.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah, he's one of those people I just root for.
- 27:03Speaker 2: I love I love that he's done so well and uh,
- 27:06Speaker 2: he fucking kills me on.
- 27:07Speaker 1: And crushes He is a comedic genius.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So Sarah Chalk is, uh, I'm I've I've got an
- 27:22Speaker 2: appendicitis and Sarah Chalk is touching my body. There's there's
- 27:26Speaker 2: not that much sexual tension really between us yet. I'm
- 27:29Speaker 2: finding although I do. I do at the end of
- 27:31Speaker 2: the episode reference that you know, I have feelings for her.
- 27:34Speaker 2: But it's interesting that that, uh it feels like Bill
- 27:39Speaker 2: turned down, like any sexual tension at this point, you know,
- 27:44Speaker 2: you know he was gonna have Jdgo Dad a bunch
- 27:46Speaker 2: of other women, But Sarah doesn't seem sort of jealous
- 27:50Speaker 2: that I that you you tell her that I was,
- 27:52Speaker 2: you know, flirting with some girl or you know that,
- 27:55Speaker 2: and then when she's you know, examining me and I'm naked.
- 27:58Speaker 2: We just go right to all the jokes of you know,
- 28:01Speaker 2: the freezing cold.
- 28:02Speaker 1: She is right, speaking of freezing cold. How long did
- 28:04Speaker 1: it take to put that ice makeup on dude?
- 28:05Speaker 2: Forever man? And I noticed I have two of those
- 28:07Speaker 2: in this episode, two full body makeup things, and they
- 28:11Speaker 2: would take like a half They would take hours and
- 28:13Speaker 2: hours to do, and it would look great.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Though, didn't it that it did?
- 28:16Speaker 1: It looked really cool.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I did a great job.
- 28:18Speaker 2: But I think Sarah this came from Sarah genuinely having
- 28:21Speaker 2: freezing hands, right.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I wrote that down. She truly has cold hands. If
- 28:24Speaker 1: I remember correctly, her hands are always freezing. She runs cold.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I don't think her blood reaches her extremities. I think
- 28:33Speaker 2: her hands are like blue.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I wouldn't be You might be right, they might always
- 28:38Speaker 1: be blue. They might always be blue. No, I just remember.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Sorry, I just want to say that this is like,
- 28:43Speaker 2: you know, Bill would take things from our real lives,
- 28:46Speaker 2: like I'm sure Donald and I going out to the
- 28:48Speaker 2: club and Sarah having ice cold hands, like but when
- 28:51Speaker 2: I when I when I saw this, I was like,
- 28:53Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure, as I remember Sarah had freezing hands.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. This is also the episode where it
- 28:59Speaker 1: feels like Bill realized somewhere along the line that Ken
- 29:02Speaker 1: Jenkins is a comedic genius. Amazing because now he's starting
- 29:06Speaker 1: to really stretch his comedic skills. Yeah, You're seeing a
- 29:09Speaker 1: lot of funny jokes from Ken throughout the show.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Ken's got a big part in this episode, and I
- 29:14Speaker 2: thought he was very, very funny. And I just.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I didn't recall Cox's mentor coming in. I didn't remember
- 29:23Speaker 1: that storyline at all.
- 29:25Speaker 2: It's the only time I can remember in nine years
- 29:27Speaker 2: where he has a mentor that he's trying to impress.
- 29:30Speaker 2: So much of this show is he's our mentor and
- 29:32Speaker 2: we're all trying to live on to his expectations.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:35Speaker 2: And I was struck as we were watching and going, oh,
- 29:38Speaker 2: this is early on and we're seeing someone that he's
- 29:41Speaker 2: so bad and we do that fantasy where he's doing
- 29:43Speaker 2: all these gymnastic flips, yeah, which Johnny probably could do,
- 29:46Speaker 2: although I'm sure that was a stunt double. But Johnny's
- 29:48Speaker 2: the kind of guy like, give me a week, I
- 29:50Speaker 2: got it, and his baseball fields out there doing flips.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Right, he actually wears a baseball jersey in this episode,
- 30:01Speaker 1: for the whole episode?
- 30:02Speaker 3: What is that jersey?
- 30:03Speaker 1: Did you know? I have no idea. That's a question
- 30:05Speaker 1: we should ask Bill right now, Bill, what is that jersey? Joe?
- 30:08Speaker 3: Well, can you ask Uncle Bill?
- 30:10Speaker 2: What the heck was the thinking behind the random baseball
- 30:14Speaker 2: jersey that Johnny Ce wears throughout this episode?
- 30:17Speaker 4: Man, I don't know what that jersey was. Johnny c
- 30:20Speaker 4: changed his jerseys all the time. He rarely asked permission.
- 30:24Speaker 4: It was always for some athlete or team that he liked.
- 30:28Speaker 4: For it was Jeremy Shockey for a second, and then
- 30:30Speaker 4: it was Chris Chellios, who I believe is a close
- 30:33Speaker 4: friend of his. But I just kind of let Johnny
- 30:36Speaker 4: own his character. And I'm calling him Johnny because he
- 30:39Speaker 4: calls me Billy. I think it's a turnabout. It's fair play.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Very interesting. Also, you know, Bill tells a story about
- 30:44Speaker 1: how the show is written about him and his best
- 30:48Speaker 1: friend and how he thought it would be one of
- 30:51Speaker 1: the most scariest experiences of his life, waking up from
- 30:55Speaker 1: surgery and his best friend standing over him, who he's
- 31:00Speaker 1: you know, drank beers and has blacked out, has gotten
- 31:03Speaker 1: blacked out drunk with Yeah, it's now coming to fruition
- 31:06Speaker 1: right now, right now?
- 31:07Speaker 3: You know you're right?
- 31:08Speaker 2: Yeah, he always he always mentioned that, and so it
- 31:10Speaker 2: didn't take him long to make that a storyline, which
- 31:14Speaker 2: leads to probably one of the greatest exchanges in Scrubs
- 31:16Speaker 2: history that's in this episode.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Which is should we recreate it for everybody?
- 31:20Speaker 1: I get to cut, I get to know what we
- 31:23Speaker 1: do that you tell me what it is so we
- 31:26Speaker 1: can at.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Nineteen fifty five. I want you inside of me. I
- 31:31Speaker 2: want to be the one inside.
- 31:32Speaker 1: I want to be the one inside of you.
- 31:34Speaker 2: If I ever have surgery again, I want you to
- 31:37Speaker 2: be the one inside of me.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I want to be the one inside of me, and
- 31:46Speaker 1: which leads to which leads to He's the only one
- 31:50Speaker 1: who's ever been inside of me.
- 31:53Speaker 2: But by the way, the funniest part of that, dude,
- 31:55Speaker 2: is that the geniusness of keeping that fat Albert fat
- 31:58Speaker 2: Albert runner going. And then it cuts to them and
- 32:00Speaker 2: you're in there and everyone's laughing, and then they stopped cold, right.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Paula's like, what what did you say?
- 32:08Speaker 2: That was really clever to then go to a third
- 32:11Speaker 2: time to the fat Albert cast and have everyone just
- 32:13Speaker 2: be laughing and then stop.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Randall Winston plays the one with the giant mask on
- 32:20Speaker 1: his face.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Oh really? Who was our one of our producers who
- 32:24Speaker 2: we told you always played death because he was very tall?
- 32:26Speaker 2: And there he is showing up again as one of
- 32:29Speaker 2: the fact. Would you remember that character's.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Name the Cosby Kids? Oh man, there was Yuckmouth, Rudy Russell, Bill,
- 32:37Speaker 1: Dumb Donald, which was the I hated that character.
- 32:40Speaker 3: And people did people call you dumb Donald?
- 32:42Speaker 1: So thank goodness, no, but there was dumb Donald, Bucky,
- 32:46Speaker 1: weird Harold something like that, Weird Harold.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Yes, oh, Joel's pointing at you, Weird Harold.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I remember.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Weird Ass is the guy who wears the mask. Yes,
- 32:58Speaker 2: was it never explained why he wears a mask?
- 33:00Speaker 1: No, it might have been. I don't remember. We'd have
- 33:02Speaker 1: to go back and look at it at that show. Okay,
- 33:05Speaker 1: but uh yeah, that's who is it? Weird Harold? Am
- 33:07Speaker 1: I right? So dumb Donald is the one with the hat.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Weird Harold is a super tall one with the curly hair.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Oh okay, so dumb Donald's the one with the mask.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, with the hat mask that's full down over
- 33:19Speaker 1: his eyes. That's dumb. Maybe I did like dumb Donald,
- 33:21Speaker 1: because that was also very tell Greg, then me tell
- 33:24Speaker 1: like this, I.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Could of like to see you. I've been everyone would
- 33:28Speaker 2: like to see you do a fat Alburt episode.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I auditioned for the I auditioned for the Fat Albert movie.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I wanted to be Rude. Everybody wanted to be Rudy.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Everybody wanted to be Rudy.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Who got it? I forgot who got that?
- 33:39Speaker 1: We could look that up.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Okay, God, we're giving Joel a lot of assignments today.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Joelle.
- 33:44Speaker 2: In the live action movie that wheelchair, really, I thought
- 33:48Speaker 2: to myself, is Donald really doing that? Because it was impressed.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I don't think you did. I didn't, well, I was.
- 33:54Speaker 2: I was asking myself because it was pretty impressive. You
- 33:57Speaker 2: held it a long time and then when it falls
- 33:59Speaker 2: over six fifty five you can see sort of training
- 34:02Speaker 2: wheel things on the wheel chair. I love how you're like,
- 34:06Speaker 2: I did do it? If you pause, if you pause
- 34:12Speaker 2: it like do it? I know you don't remember, but
- 34:14Speaker 2: if you pause it like six fifty five, which I did,
- 34:16Speaker 2: you can see like on there there's like these like
- 34:18Speaker 2: stuntman special wheels, so you had training wheels full that's crazy, Rudy,
- 34:24Speaker 2: was played by shed Rak Anderson the third. Okay, that's
- 34:28Speaker 2: in the live action movie. I don't think that's real,
- 34:32Speaker 2: is Donald Donald's questioning your.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I don't know he was. Also, I know the guy
- 34:36Speaker 1: that played Rudy was also in Dreamgirls.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Well Tooelle see if shed Rack Anderson the third was
- 34:42Speaker 2: in dream Girls.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So this is according to IMDb two thousand and four
- 34:47Speaker 1: live action Rudy is Shan jack Old Rudy. Did I
- 34:50Speaker 1: see some of these guys have Oh that.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Might have been young Rudy or something.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Just go to Dreamgirls. The dude who was in Dreamgirls
- 34:57Speaker 1: played Rudy. I'm pretty sure of it. That was always
- 35:00Speaker 1: with Jamie Fox. Okay, give me anyway.
- 35:05Speaker 2: So Donald is six fifty seven when I'm watching the
- 35:08Speaker 2: TV in my hospital room, right before the janitor takes
- 35:11Speaker 2: it away. That's I'm doing all the voices in that
- 35:14Speaker 2: TV show, all right.
- 35:15Speaker 1: No, I did a couple of them too. It's Jerry Springer.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Cut you, man, Oh you don't want to you did that,
- 35:21Speaker 1: I'll cut you. I'm I'm the dude. That's the boyfriend.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I played the boyfriend. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 35:28Speaker 1: didn't know.
- 35:28Speaker 3: As both of us, I thought it was just me, No, Yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 3: am I the man or the woman?
- 35:31Speaker 1: I don't even remember you're you're the woman? I cut you?
- 35:34Speaker 2: How cut you? That should have been a funny runner
- 35:41Speaker 2: that whenever there was a TV show on and you
- 35:43Speaker 2: didn't see it, it was our voices.
- 35:44Speaker 1: It was our voices.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I think that may be the only time we did.
- 35:47Speaker 1: It well Danny. That was one thing Danny would do.
- 35:49Speaker 1: He would be like, you guys, wanna you wanna? He
- 35:52Speaker 1: would even let me hear what you did, so I
- 35:55Speaker 1: knew everything that you were gonna say, and then I
- 35:57Speaker 1: said something to match what you were.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Probably the very first season, we were just so excited
- 36:02Speaker 2: to do anything, whereas.
- 36:03Speaker 1: It was just like, please know Danny, I don't want
- 36:05Speaker 1: to please.
- 36:06Speaker 3: We gotta go home.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:08Speaker 2: But season one we're like, do you need me to
- 36:09Speaker 2: do any other voices?
- 36:11Speaker 3: I could do the TV voices.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Speaking of late night sketch shows, Michael McDonald is on
- 36:20Speaker 1: this episode from Mad TV. He went on to direct
- 36:23Speaker 1: episodes for Scrubby and he came back as that character again.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Yes, and I thought this was the one where he
- 36:28Speaker 2: was going to say his most famous line, I broke
- 36:31Speaker 2: my penis right, But it wasn't that.
- 36:34Speaker 1: No, it wasn't that when this is the introduction for
- 36:36Speaker 1: that character.
- 36:37Speaker 2: He's very funny and I'm very sweet man. By the way,
- 36:40Speaker 2: what's the what's the you know what I mean?
- 36:42Speaker 1: Karen?
- 36:42Speaker 2: Is anyone keeping track of Donald?
- 36:43Speaker 1: Have I said? You know what I mean?
- 36:45Speaker 3: You've ruined the drinking game for people?
- 36:47Speaker 1: Have I said it today? I'm you know what I'm saying.
- 36:50Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 36:51Speaker 2: I remember when you came into work one day, like,
- 36:53Speaker 2: you know what the new thing? Like Donald would always
- 36:54Speaker 2: tell me, like, what the you know, I'm just like.
- 36:56Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying has always been going on.
- 36:58Speaker 2: But dude, I remember when you came in one day
- 37:00Speaker 2: and you were like because Donald would always keep me
- 37:02Speaker 2: in breast of like, you know, the new the new cool.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Saying the new slang.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and he'd be like, you know what the new
- 37:07Speaker 2: thing is, that's what's up.
- 37:09Speaker 3: That's what's up, and.
- 37:12Speaker 1: That's what's up.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Dude. I remember you coming in and be like you
- 37:16Speaker 2: were like giving your nerdy white friend an insider info.
- 37:18Speaker 2: You're like, hey, just you know, like like with like
- 37:20Speaker 2: with your hand over your mouth, like don't tell anyone,
- 37:22Speaker 2: but the new thing is. That's what's up. And you
- 37:25Speaker 2: to this day you say that's what's up all the time.
- 37:27Speaker 1: All the time. That's what's up. Is the that is
- 37:31Speaker 1: what is up.
- 37:32Speaker 3: You use it like for everything.
- 37:34Speaker 2: It's like, you know, you know how like in the Smurfs,
- 37:36Speaker 2: they'd be like, I smurfed him, Papa smurf Donald. It's
- 37:39Speaker 2: like a universal expression. You'd be like, Donald, be like,
- 37:42Speaker 2: how you doing. I'm like, I'm great, man, I'm just
- 37:44Speaker 2: feeling good. Just did a big workout.
- 37:46Speaker 1: That's what's up, because that is what's up.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're like, hey man, what are you doing?
- 37:50Speaker 2: You want to go out to dinner? Yeah, let's do it.
- 37:51Speaker 2: That's what's up.
- 37:52Speaker 1: That's what's up. Keep it one hundred. That's what's up.
- 37:57Speaker 2: That's what's up.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Keep it one hundred replaced keep it real, all right.
- 38:01Speaker 3: So I'm just looking at what Joel said.
- 38:02Speaker 2: The guy from dream Girls was Keith Robinson and he
- 38:05Speaker 2: played Bill.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Yes, Keith, and he played Bill Ah, he played Bill.
- 38:10Speaker 1: So then who played Rudy? Oh you already said.
- 38:12Speaker 2: It, Shad Jack Anderson the third Come on, try and
- 38:14Speaker 2: keep up, Donald.
- 38:15Speaker 3: That's what's up.
- 38:16Speaker 1: That's what's up.
- 38:17Speaker 2: You know what I mean, no, you can't drink. You
- 38:20Speaker 2: don't drink if I say it, everybody.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Jack said that, not me. Yeah.
- 38:23Speaker 2: So A twenty three is the second full body makeup thing, full.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Bronze, all gold or bronze.
- 38:29Speaker 3: All bronze, I believe.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that took that took some time, as you can
- 38:32Speaker 2: imagine getting your full body bron.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Well, you didn't have any whole bodies had well you
- 38:38Speaker 1: still look skinny.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Man. Well they didn't do like my penis, but they
- 38:41Speaker 2: put on like a you know, banana hammock bronze bhana hammock.
- 38:44Speaker 2: They had to do everything.
- 38:46Speaker 1: For those of you who can't see Zach Braff right now,
- 38:48Speaker 1: my buddy works out every day, he eats healthy. He
- 38:53Speaker 1: has someone making him meals.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Right now, you make it sound like, well, I do
- 38:57Speaker 2: have a chef, but it's my girlfriend. It's not like
- 38:59Speaker 2: I've hired I have an amazing was going.
- 39:02Speaker 1: To get to all of that. I wasn't going to
- 39:04Speaker 1: get into any of that.
- 39:05Speaker 2: All I was saying, are you you're looking at my
- 39:07Speaker 2: muscles right now, aren't you?
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 39:09Speaker 2: I have something I have something embarrassing to say, though,
- 39:11Speaker 2: So I bought this. This is a black widow tank top.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Nice. Have you seen Black Widow yet?
- 39:18Speaker 2: I can't comment on that, but this, this is a
- 39:20Speaker 2: Black Widow tank top with with Elena on it, and
- 39:23Speaker 2: I thought it would be fun to order it.
- 39:25Speaker 1: And oh so her character's name is Jolena.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's public.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Be it better be you. We got to edit it out.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Joelle's not having Joelle.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Are you sure about that? It's Jolena Joel's Yeah, you
- 39:39Speaker 1: might have an exclusive. Disney's going to be pissed. So
- 39:43Speaker 1: is Marble. But Disney's going to be pissed.
- 39:46Speaker 3: No, No, it's public.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It's public.
- 39:47Speaker 2: But anyway, so I ordered this tank top because I
- 39:49Speaker 2: thought it would be funny and cute, and and it
- 39:52Speaker 2: came as a it's a women's medium.
- 39:56Speaker 1: And it fits you.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Know what arrived is a women's like medium or large,
- 40:01Speaker 2: and it fits you. My point is you might think
- 40:03Speaker 2: I look particularly muscular today. It's because I'm wearing a
- 40:06Speaker 2: women's medium tank.
- 40:09Speaker 1: It doesn't look like it's a medium for a woman.
- 40:14Speaker 2: It looks like, let me look, let me look, let
- 40:16Speaker 2: me look. It's women's large.
- 40:19Speaker 3: It's a women's large.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Okay, there we go.
- 40:20Speaker 2: But it has a female cut. You see that like
- 40:22Speaker 2: they don't cut men's tank tops like this. They don't know,
- 40:25Speaker 2: but anyway, it's it's all. It's all they had.
- 40:27Speaker 1: So well, you look good your workout every day.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Thank you, Bill, and Joelle just said that it is public,
- 40:32Speaker 2: so don't get me in trouble.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Okay, So what's your name again?
- 40:35Speaker 2: The only exclusive that you're not getting, which isn't exclusive
- 40:38Speaker 2: is her character's name is Yolena.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Let's move on. Let's move on.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Carla had a funny ass line. You know, we were
- 40:45Speaker 2: just talking when Judy was on about how she didn't
- 40:46Speaker 2: always get jokes, but I laughed out loud at nine
- 40:49Speaker 2: minutes when she goes, you don't want one hundred pound
- 40:51Speaker 2: white girl mad at you. It'll flinch every time you
- 40:54Speaker 2: hear a range over.
- 40:56Speaker 1: That was funny, Yeah, it was.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Now when JD says, do they celebrate Thanksgiving in your homeland?
- 41:03Speaker 2: Do we do we believe that JD, who's gone through
- 41:07Speaker 2: med school and is very intelligent, is he just playing
- 41:10Speaker 2: a joke or does he seriously not understand that. I
- 41:13Speaker 2: think he's from that Carlos from Chicago.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I think he's being funny, trying to make her laugh. Yeah,
- 41:20Speaker 1: trying to make her laugh and then realizes he said
- 41:22Speaker 1: a really bad joke because his responsible or maybe.
- 41:25Speaker 3: He's asking the Dominican Republic? Is that? Is that what
- 41:28Speaker 3: it is?
- 41:28Speaker 1: Well? Yeah, she her character is Dominican. Yes, I know.
- 41:31Speaker 2: But do you think the character of JD is trying
- 41:34Speaker 2: to be funny or is he saying to people in
- 41:35Speaker 2: Dominical Republic celebrate Thanksgiving?
- 41:37Speaker 1: Maybe?
- 41:38Speaker 2: Maybe maybe can we talk about how amazing you're moonwalking is?
- 41:42Speaker 2: At nine to twenty five when you sing I get
- 41:44Speaker 2: to cut you open?
- 41:45Speaker 1: You know, I worked really hard on moonwalking as a
- 41:49Speaker 1: youth after I saw Michael Jackson do it, very, very
- 41:52Speaker 1: very don't.
- 41:52Speaker 3: You learn to do that?
- 41:53Speaker 2: Fucking hell?
- 41:54Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 41:55Speaker 1: You can't moonwalk.
- 41:56Speaker 2: I can do a little bit of backwards, but it
- 41:58Speaker 2: doesn't look like what you're doing it go side to
- 42:00Speaker 2: side to side, dude? Is it still moonwalking if you're
- 42:02Speaker 2: going all around and moving forward?
- 42:04Speaker 1: And absolutely it's a moonwalk as long as you're moving backwards,
- 42:08Speaker 1: like in a backwards direction, even if it's side to side,
- 42:11Speaker 1: it's moonwalking. And when you're walking in place that's considered moonwalk.
- 42:15Speaker 2: No, Michael Jackson, sorry for this stupid question, but did
- 42:17Speaker 2: Michael Jackson really invent the moonwalk.
- 42:20Speaker 1: No, it was around way before Michael Jackson. Oh, he
- 42:22Speaker 1: was like a tap dancer. I feel like a tap
- 42:24Speaker 1: dancer created the moonwalk and Michael Jackson just bit off
- 42:27Speaker 1: of it.
- 42:28Speaker 2: No, no, so Michael Jackson just made it famous then
- 42:31Speaker 2: probably right.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Yeah, well yeah Motown twenty five and he busts into
- 42:40Speaker 1: dude Doom doom. Dude.
- 42:42Speaker 5: Literally, you literally give me good dude doom doom.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Right. If you were a breakdancer, you knew how to
- 42:51Speaker 1: moon walk.
- 42:52Speaker 2: I think I saw Breaking the movie in the theater.
- 42:54Speaker 3: I mean it was it was.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Breaking was such a popular break.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Breaking it was the West Coast version of break dancing,
- 43:00Speaker 1: and then the East Coast version of breakdancing was beat Street.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Okay, I never ever see Breach Street.
- 43:07Speaker 1: You never saw a beat Street. Beach Street, you never
- 43:10Speaker 1: saw a beat Street.
- 43:11Speaker 3: No, but I remember Steady Crew.
- 43:13Speaker 1: All these people were in that bad boy. It was
- 43:16Speaker 1: like all of the East Coast. Yeah, Breaking the movie
- 43:20Speaker 1: was that's the West Coast.
- 43:21Speaker 2: I love that movie.
- 43:23Speaker 3: Do you remember some of the characters, O.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Zone, Zey, Turbo, Kelly.
- 43:29Speaker 2: I just thought these people were so cool when I
- 43:31Speaker 2: was a kid. This was nineteen eighty four. This looks
- 43:33Speaker 2: like it came out and then they and then they
- 43:35Speaker 2: did a sequel, Electric Boogaoo.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Yeah, breaking too, the Electric Boogoloo. And that's when they're
- 43:40Speaker 1: trying to save the school. They're trying to save the school.
- 43:42Speaker 2: If you're a young person listening to this, just know
- 43:45Speaker 2: that breakdancing was still popular, that they were making breakdancing
- 43:47Speaker 2: movies back in the day.
- 43:48Speaker 1: And Turbo gets hurt and these bards up in the hospital.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Are we gonna take a break? Bro, We're gonna, We're gonna,
- 43:54Speaker 2: We're gonna moon walk.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Into a break.
- 43:56Speaker 5: Here we go, Hey, Joe, Oh, give him his Oprah intro.
- 44:07Speaker 5: Come on, ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Joe mooning.
- 44:13Speaker 2: What's going on? Guys?
- 44:15Speaker 1: You New York? Joe? Yeah, I'm stayed albody, he's from Albany.
- 44:22Speaker 3: You get a car, You get a car, You get.
- 44:24Speaker 2: A car, Joejo, Welcome to Fake Doctors, Real friends. We
- 44:28Speaker 2: are the fake doctor's real friends. I'm sorry I'm wearing
- 44:30Speaker 2: a female tank top, but that's just what's happening today.
- 44:33Speaker 1: It looks good. Look at the arms. Show him to
- 44:34Speaker 1: arms man.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Well, Joe, these arms aren't usually this big, but when
- 44:37Speaker 2: you wear a woman's tank top you tend to look
- 44:40Speaker 2: a little bit larger. You look great as always, there, Zach,
- 44:44Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Sir, Thank you. Welcome, Welcome aboard.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Do you have any questions for the legendary Donald Faison.
- 44:50Speaker 6: I just want to say first of all that this
- 44:52Speaker 6: is honestly a dream come true. I'm a giant fan
- 44:54Speaker 6: of the show and you can't thank you guys enough
- 44:57Speaker 6: for having me on.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Thank you so much, have you.
- 44:59Speaker 2: We're just happy to be doing it, man, we we
- 45:00Speaker 2: you know people, It's funny. On social media, people are
- 45:03Speaker 2: are loving it and saying thank you to Donald and
- 45:05Speaker 2: I for doing this so much, whereas Donald and I
- 45:07Speaker 2: are like, thank you for having any interest at all
- 45:09Speaker 2: because we're both so.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Bored in quarantine.
- 45:12Speaker 2: The fact that we get to sit around and joke
- 45:14Speaker 2: with each other twice a week, and the fact that
- 45:16Speaker 2: anyone is listening beyond our moms is amazing, So doesn't
- 45:20Speaker 2: listen to the show, sorry, beyond my mom my mom
- 45:22Speaker 2: My mom texts me after every episode, and it's more
- 45:26Speaker 2: interest than in any other thing I've ever done. My
- 45:29Speaker 2: mom my mom like text me like, oh my god,
- 45:31Speaker 2: I loved how Johnny C was calling you Zachy and
- 45:34Speaker 2: Donald was so funny today and I get I get
- 45:36Speaker 2: notes from my mom. I'm sorry, go ahead, buddy, all right.
- 45:40Speaker 6: So first question is when Colin Farrell was on the show,
- 45:45Speaker 6: he turned the hospital into just a thirst Frenzie did
- 45:49Speaker 6: the same thing happen on set? And who was the
- 45:52Speaker 6: thirstiest for it?
- 45:53Speaker 2: Sarah?
- 45:54Speaker 1: Sarah was definitely no. Judy might have been.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Sarah was riled up. I mean I remember, I remember
- 46:03Speaker 2: being jealous. Actually, to be honest that I mean, I know,
- 46:05Speaker 2: Colin Ferrell's Colin Farrell and everything, and he's a very
- 46:07Speaker 2: handsome man, but I was a very good all right,
- 46:09Speaker 2: all right, I was like, Sara, bring it down. Let's
- 46:11Speaker 2: bring it down a little bit. Yeah, I mean, I
- 46:17Speaker 2: think all the women were giddy. He's a very very
- 46:18Speaker 2: handsome man and charming and so charming, and Colin, you know,
- 46:23Speaker 2: is a huge movie stars still at the time, it
- 46:26Speaker 2: was like the height of his explosion. So the fact
- 46:29Speaker 2: that he did it, I think he was probably one
- 46:30Speaker 2: of the biggest stars we ever had on the show.
- 46:32Speaker 2: And I remember, just just as a shout out to Colin.
- 46:35Speaker 2: I remember at the time, you know, we we gave
- 46:38Speaker 2: him a chunk of money to be on the show,
- 46:39Speaker 2: and he gave it all to his charity as another
- 46:42Speaker 2: testament to his character of being a good man. Ah
- 46:47Speaker 2: but no, everyone, everyone, including Donald and I were a
- 46:50Speaker 2: little giddy that Colin was visiting.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Honestly, no, I mean, come on, do you have another question?
- 46:56Speaker 2: Have another question you can ask?
- 46:57Speaker 1: You ask if they're you know, bad quest, I since
- 47:00Speaker 1: well just edited out, don't worry.
- 47:01Speaker 6: Yeah, so my second question kind of retains towards Sarah's
- 47:09Speaker 6: character Elliott as well. So Elliott is in my personal
- 47:12Speaker 6: pantheon of like all time TV crushes growing up. I
- 47:15Speaker 6: was I was probably like thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, when you know,
- 47:18Speaker 6: this show was really going.
- 47:19Speaker 3: So I was wondering, who in your minds is.
- 47:22Speaker 2: In your pantheon? Oh, boy, crushes, I've.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Got a couple. I've got a few of them, Okay,
- 47:28Speaker 1: and I'll start Lark Vorhees from Saved by the Bell.
- 47:33Speaker 1: She played Lisa Turtle Holy Cow. When I was a kid,
- 47:37Speaker 1: I was so in love with her. I also was
- 47:41Speaker 1: so in love with Jada Pickett Smith on uh when
- 47:45Speaker 1: she was on a Different World. Oh my gosh, you
- 47:50Speaker 1: couldn't tell me nothing bad about Jada Pickett before she
- 47:54Speaker 1: became Will Smith's wife. Oh my gosh, and still to
- 47:58Speaker 1: this day she's still right. Who else? Of course, Carrie Fisher,
- 48:03Speaker 1: Princess Leiah right.
- 48:05Speaker 2: He did kind of say TV shows, but we'll take
- 48:07Speaker 2: it from TV. I mean, because I was gonna say,
- 48:10Speaker 2: I was gonna say, Lisa's Silverstone is the first that
- 48:12Speaker 2: came to my mind. But that's technically a film. But
- 48:14Speaker 2: you don't mind if we go film. You just mean
- 48:17Speaker 2: our youth crushes. Yes, I mean I opened the rabbit hole.
- 48:20Speaker 6: You guys feel free to jump right in.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Well, those are my three, Those are my three, right.
- 48:24Speaker 2: My first was was Suzanne Summers on Three's Company. Now,
- 48:27Speaker 2: when I was a little boy watching Suzanne Summers on
- 48:30Speaker 2: Three's Company, she was doing things to me that I
- 48:32Speaker 2: didn't I didn't know what was happening to me. And
- 48:35Speaker 2: we were a religious family. And I sat down at
- 48:37Speaker 2: the shabbat. We would have Shabbat dinner on Friday nights.
- 48:39Speaker 2: And I was eight years old, and I sat down
- 48:41Speaker 2: at the Shabbat dinner and I raised my hand because
- 48:45Speaker 2: my dad was quite stern when it came to Shabbat dinner,
- 48:47Speaker 2: and he said, go ahead, Zach and I said, Dad,
- 48:50Speaker 2: why does my penis get hard when I look at
- 48:52Speaker 2: Chrissy from Three's Company. I had no idea that it
- 49:04Speaker 2: was anything inappropriate to bring up in Shabbat dinner.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Did you get dismissed from the table?
- 49:10Speaker 2: No, my father, Instantly everyone died started dying, laughing as
- 49:14Speaker 2: you would. It was the f I mean, I really,
- 49:15Speaker 2: you know, I didn't know what it was. I was
- 49:17Speaker 2: a genuine like, hello, father, I have a question. I'm
- 49:21Speaker 2: having a physical reaction to Chrissy from Three's Company, and
- 49:25Speaker 2: I would like everyone at the table to weigh in
- 49:27Speaker 2: on what it might be. My whole life, my whole life.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Everyone in my family has joked about that story. The
- 49:37Speaker 2: other the other idea, the other one that came to
- 49:39Speaker 2: my mind right away when you said it was Nicole
- 49:42Speaker 2: Eggert on Charles in Charge.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, that was another one.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Yes, Nicole Eggert On Charles and.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Alyssa Milanolo of course, also Joe from Facts of Life.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I had a weird thing.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Now, you were tuty.
- 49:55Speaker 3: You know a lot of people are, you know, are
- 49:57Speaker 3: Blair or Tutty?
- 49:58Speaker 2: I was a Joe guy interesting, but Nicole Eggert was
- 50:02Speaker 2: just I remember thinking like, what are these feelings? What
- 50:07Speaker 2: are these feelings? Also, Linda Carter in wonder Woman, there
- 50:12Speaker 2: was a special episode she'd spun around once and she'd
- 50:14Speaker 2: be regular wonder Woman.
- 50:15Speaker 3: There was a special episode or two where she would spin.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Around a second time and she'd be in a bathing suit,
- 50:20Speaker 2: a wonder Woman bathing suit.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Well, she would spin around again and then she'd have
- 50:24Speaker 1: the bike outfit.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Or oh I didn't I guess I didn't watch all
- 50:27Speaker 2: the episodes. I didn't know. How do you think she
- 50:29Speaker 2: could tell her her magic like, hey, I need bike outfit?
- 50:32Speaker 1: Hey I need I think it's just a power that
- 50:35Speaker 1: wonder Woman has where she you know, she says this
- 50:39Speaker 1: is the situation. Really gear up, all right?
- 50:42Speaker 2: So you're saying she's when she's spinning, she's telling her
- 50:45Speaker 2: her magical powers. I need the regular outfit, or I
- 50:47Speaker 2: need cyclist wonder Woman, or I need bathing suit wonder.
- 50:50Speaker 1: I don't even think she has to tell her power that.
- 50:52Speaker 1: I think it does it audit.
- 50:53Speaker 2: The power just knows this is the situation. We're about
- 50:55Speaker 2: to go swimming. You don't need the cyclist uniform.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Right all right? Hey, one more question? One more question?
- 51:02Speaker 6: Ok, I was gonna say that reminds me of quick
- 51:04Speaker 6: change from the NBA halftime show, is Donald?
- 51:06Speaker 2: You might you might catch that one.
- 51:08Speaker 3: I don't know what that is.
- 51:09Speaker 1: What do you mean by quick change?
- 51:10Speaker 2: It's a halftime show.
- 51:12Speaker 6: This this person just like puts a robut puts down
- 51:15Speaker 6: different outfit robe up rope.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Down, yeah, right where it's like one of those pull
- 51:19Speaker 1: off things, right, yeah, exactly.
- 51:21Speaker 2: You have another question, Joe, you stumped Donald in NBA trivia.
- 51:25Speaker 1: I just I don't go to I haven't been to
- 51:26Speaker 1: a lot of games in a while.
- 51:27Speaker 3: There's a Chicago Bulls documentary going on. Are you watching that?
- 51:30Speaker 1: Donald, I am watching it. I don't know. Listen, head furious.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. I think everybody's watching it because,
- 51:38Speaker 1: first of all, when I was a kid, Michael Joran.
- 51:40Speaker 1: I think everybody can speak for how magical Michael. You
- 51:44Speaker 1: know there's Magic Johnson, but then there was Michael Jordan.
- 51:47Speaker 1: I think for me he was my idol growing up.
- 51:50Speaker 1: You know what I mean. You could say we could
- 51:51Speaker 1: talk Denzel, we could talk Harrison Ford, but you know
- 51:55Speaker 1: the one that did it for real, for every male
- 52:00Speaker 1: in America, maybe even the world, was Michael Jordan. That's
- 52:04Speaker 1: that was done right, like the basketball, the competitive spirit,
- 52:09Speaker 1: the IQ to be able to turn all of that
- 52:11Speaker 1: into money as well. Like just like Michael Jordan was
- 52:14Speaker 1: everybody's hero, every young male's hero. That and also he
- 52:19Speaker 1: made having a ballhead cool. There were a bunch of
- 52:21Speaker 1: people with bald heads before that. There was Kojak, there
- 52:24Speaker 1: was Lou Gass Juniors. Well yeah, mister clean. There were
- 52:28Speaker 1: a bunch of people who had bald heads before Michael Jordan.
- 52:31Speaker 1: It wasn't until Michael Jordan that people with hair were like,
- 52:34Speaker 1: you know what, I'm shaving this bad boy.
- 52:36Speaker 3: So he's inspiration for your bald head.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Well yeah, because he made it cool to be a baldy,
- 52:41Speaker 1: to have a bald head. You know, there was a
- 52:43Speaker 1: movie back in the day called The Wanderers and the
- 52:45Speaker 1: bad guys in the movie were called Baldi's And that sucked, dude.
- 52:51Speaker 1: It sucked to you know when when if you didn't
- 52:54Speaker 1: like the way your hairline was, you had to live
- 52:56Speaker 1: with that.
- 52:57Speaker 2: But then you were trying to spray on stuff. By
- 52:59Speaker 2: the way, No, man, because when I saw those infomercials,
- 53:01Speaker 2: I said, rock that.
- 53:03Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no, I'm.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Gonna get you something for Hannah.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I've never died my head. You know what I did?
- 53:08Speaker 1: You know what? I take it back. Recently, I was
- 53:11Speaker 1: doing this show and I was putting the dust that spray, right,
- 53:18Speaker 1: not the spray, the dust, just dust, okay, that people use.
- 53:22Speaker 1: And I was doing an interview for US Weekly and
- 53:26Speaker 1: one of the co stars from my show, who was
- 53:28Speaker 1: who's very young, she must have been thirteen or fourteen
- 53:32Speaker 1: at the time. She goes, you know, look at Donald's hair.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Look at how much hair he has. I've got a
- 53:38Speaker 1: secret to tell. I didn't know that that was dust.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I put my hand on his head and I pulled
- 53:45Speaker 1: it away and I had a bunch of like dust
- 53:47Speaker 1: on my hand. To US Weekly, Oh my god, did
- 53:51Speaker 1: they print that? It made it to it made it,
- 53:54Speaker 1: but thank goodness it didn't go viral. I fell to
- 53:58Speaker 1: the floor laughing. So I've never been more embarrassed in
- 54:02Speaker 1: my life. So from that moment on, I was like,
- 54:03Speaker 1: I'll never use the dust again. I'm never using the dust.
- 54:06Speaker 2: Ron Pappeel I think that was his name. He had
- 54:08Speaker 2: a spray on hair. Remember there was an infomercial.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it was in The Fabulous Baker boys too.
- 54:12Speaker 3: All right, man, well, thank you for your questions.
- 54:14Speaker 2: You take a trip down memory lane for our crushes
- 54:19Speaker 2: were Thank you, thank you so much, and thanks for listening,
- 54:25Speaker 2: and uh and and thanks for being a fan of
- 54:27Speaker 2: the show. We really genuinely appreciate it.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Joe Mooney.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Thunder supplause, Thank god for Let's get back into the episode.
- 54:45Speaker 2: You know, at eleven o five, I kind of we
- 54:47Speaker 2: kind of touched on this, but I thought it was
- 54:48Speaker 2: a rare moment of Kelso actually practicing medicine. You never
- 54:51Speaker 2: saw Kelso. I mean, can you think of another time?
- 54:54Speaker 2: I sure there are, but I mean me, I'm surprised
- 54:55Speaker 2: that he's actually working on a patient. It's nothing you
- 54:58Speaker 2: ever saw.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, you know. I was discussing that earlier, the
- 55:03Speaker 1: episode where we all lose a patient. Kelso's practicing medicine
- 55:07Speaker 1: in that episode as well, and I touched on it.
- 55:10Speaker 1: In that episode. Whenever there was death in the hospital,
- 55:14Speaker 1: when whenever the hospital, whenever we were as characters against
- 55:19Speaker 1: the odds of what the hospital could do to the patients,
- 55:23Speaker 1: Kelso was practicing medicine. Kelso's one of the heroes other
- 55:26Speaker 1: than that he is the obstacle.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well that was kind of cool.
- 55:30Speaker 2: You know, I didn't have much memory of Kelso actually
- 55:33Speaker 2: saving a patient.
- 55:34Speaker 1: And it'll happen again when Dick Van Dyke's on the
- 55:37Speaker 1: show as well.
- 55:38Speaker 2: Oh that's right, fourteen seventeen.
- 55:41Speaker 3: I laughed out loud when you go, baby, I was
- 55:43Speaker 3: being a walrus.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we call right back to that joke.
- 55:48Speaker 1: We called the joke right back, right, We call it
- 55:51Speaker 1: back right away.
- 55:52Speaker 3: See if you can name this film, righty, make me
- 55:54Speaker 3: think of this.
- 55:55Speaker 1: On Breakfast Club before you even do it.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Come on, man, you're ruining it for the fans.
- 55:59Speaker 1: The fans know what the Breakfast Club is.
- 56:01Speaker 3: No, but they might have wanted a little bit of
- 56:03Speaker 3: a trivia game.
- 56:03Speaker 1: I know, do it, do it now, and then I'll
- 56:06Speaker 1: pretend that I didn't know, and I don't know.
- 56:07Speaker 3: I don't want to edit your fuck up.
- 56:10Speaker 1: It's not my fuck up. It's me knowing you as
- 56:14Speaker 1: well as I know you, list knowing that you're gonna do.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's like a married couple who's like,
- 56:20Speaker 2: I've heard this story a zillion times, he's gonna do
- 56:23Speaker 2: Anthony Michael Holland breakfast club, fucking asshole. Listen. Imagine you're
- 56:27Speaker 2: listening to this and you're on your hike, or you're
- 56:29Speaker 2: on your treadmill, or you're walking your dog, or you're
- 56:32Speaker 2: breastfeeding your kid, and you go, ooh.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Zach's gonna give us a little trivia question. Donald ruins it.
- 56:39Speaker 1: If you have another trivia question about a walrice, I
- 56:41Speaker 1: will totally wait for you to do this story. I
- 56:44Speaker 1: got one, Okay, go ahead.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Oh no, it's what's the name of the manatee that
- 56:47Speaker 2: lives underneath the hospital?
- 56:50Speaker 1: Oh? Is it? Waalris? No, I don't know.
- 56:54Speaker 3: It's Julian fourteen fifty two, the premiere of.
- 57:04Speaker 2: Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
- 57:11Speaker 1: You're right wrong, You're wrong?
- 57:14Speaker 2: He does that again?
- 57:15Speaker 1: Right? I just yeah, you know, it's interesting. On the
- 57:17Speaker 1: wrong clock, it's three.
- 57:19Speaker 3: It's three o'clock on the wrong clock.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Yeah, on the wrong clock it's three.
- 57:22Speaker 2: That's very clever that you figured that out, is it.
- 57:26Speaker 2: I never realized that the wrong clock was three o'clock.
- 57:31Speaker 2: It's kind of a weird fantasy thing. It's seventeen forty
- 57:33Speaker 2: one when you're operating on me that you then look
- 57:36Speaker 2: up into the lens as my bird's eye point of view.
- 57:40Speaker 2: I thought that was sort of not something we did
- 57:42Speaker 2: a lot of. That was kind of unique.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, it's a funny joke too, is truth
- 57:47Speaker 1: in the matter, whereas a lot of people claim that
- 57:50Speaker 1: when they're out and unconscious in the hospital and are
- 57:55Speaker 1: going through whatever it is that they're going through, that
- 57:59Speaker 1: they're not in their bodies, but they're standing over their
- 58:02Speaker 1: bodies always watching you. Hear that story a lot, and
- 58:06Speaker 1: I believe I could be wrong. I believe it was
- 58:09Speaker 1: a call to that, you know.
- 58:11Speaker 2: Man, I'm just saying it was cleverly done. And then
- 58:13Speaker 2: you looked up into the lens again. I talked about
- 58:15Speaker 2: how in the show we don't have too much in
- 58:17Speaker 2: the lens looking.
- 58:18Speaker 3: Actually, it happens twice on purpose.
- 58:20Speaker 2: In this episode when Sarah when then joky thing where
- 58:23Speaker 2: Sarah punches me and I turn right into the lens
- 58:26Speaker 2: kind of like raging bull. And then and then with
- 58:28Speaker 2: you doing it up to the to the camera on
- 58:30Speaker 2: the ceiling when I'm watching you operate. But the way
- 58:33Speaker 2: that was a cool thing, just as as on a
- 58:35Speaker 2: serious turk note that they really sell in this episode
- 58:38Speaker 2: that like all joking aside Turks are really good surgeon,
- 58:41Speaker 2: which I thought was cool.
- 58:42Speaker 1: I think that was important for everyone to understand. Also,
- 58:47Speaker 1: you know, the hospital in a lot of ways, the
- 58:50Speaker 1: setting in the hospital is very joky, and and these
- 58:54Speaker 1: guys are it's a bunch of comic relief. But at
- 58:57Speaker 1: the end of the day, these guys are very, very,
- 59:00Speaker 1: very good at their jobs. And you know, as Bill
- 59:03Speaker 1: talks about, it's important that you laugh with them and
- 59:06Speaker 1: you cry with them, but you understand that they're very
- 59:08Speaker 1: capable exactly.
- 59:10Speaker 2: And I think for me watching rewatching the show, now,
- 59:12Speaker 2: this was a moment where Bill clearly wanted to hammer
- 59:15Speaker 2: home like, you know, JD's nervous. You know, he doesn't
- 59:18Speaker 2: know how good a surgeon he is. And Bill really
- 59:20Speaker 2: want to hammer home like no, no, Turk's a really
- 59:22Speaker 2: talented surgeon.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Right, and plays throughout the rest of the series. Also,
- 59:27Speaker 1: you know, Turk becomes a superstar surgeon him and the
- 59:32Speaker 1: todd too, actually, believe it or not, is a very
- 59:35Speaker 1: good surgeon.
- 59:36Speaker 2: At twenty twenty one, did you stitch your initials into me?
- 59:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not in put.
- 59:42Speaker 2: And then I saw on the Scrubs wiki they pointed
- 59:45Speaker 2: out that in future episodes you never see a JD's
- 59:49Speaker 2: scar on all the times that he's shirtless.
- 59:53Speaker 1: Oh that's interesting.
- 59:55Speaker 2: The last thing I wrote down on if you have
- 59:56Speaker 2: anything else was I think I think I improved the
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: I think there was the Nina.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Yeah you did. I remember laughing so hard at that too,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I remember and I and I laughed because I remember
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: you having to explain to me, no, those were the ships. Yeah,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: because I like about.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Wasn't it the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Santa Maria.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Joelle's nodding. Nice. Oh see, see elementary school paid off?
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: It did. There was something that you stated, uh, your
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: character states when we're all walking into the bar, about
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: how when you work with people, you become family with them,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and I just thought while watching that, I was like,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: holy cow, you know we worked together long enough that
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: we all became a family, you know what I mean?
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Where you know I look at Sarah and Judy as
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: my sisters. I look at you and Bill and John
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: c McGinley as my brothers, you know what I mean?
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: And I still cherish to this day. I cherish the
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: moments that we spent together. And if you're ever able
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: at any moment in time to just be in the
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: moment and not worry about what's gonna happen in the
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: future or what's happened in the past. If you're surrounded
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: by people you truly love, you're so lucky and blessed.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: And that's what the end of the show is saying,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: you know what I mean, It's saying, you know, you're
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: gonna meet a bunch of people in life, and at
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: some point you're gonna rely on other people besides yourself,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: and if you're lucky to have those people who will
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: really step up for you, you're genuinely lucky.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: And so I feel very lucky to have made this
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: group of friends. You know, it's very rare on a
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: project to come away with such lifelong friends. And I
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: think that's where let's put the fun of this. Going
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: back is just you know, I mean, I find myself
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: just smiling thinking about seeing Johnny the other day or
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: seeing Judy and looking forward of course to doing this
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: with you. And then I'm texting Bill about something. I'm like,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: when you're coming back on He's like, anytime you want,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: and I don't know. It's kind of like getting the
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: family together every week it's great.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: It really is cool, you know what I mean, And
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: just knowing that we cared about each other and still
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: cary about each other so much that we just show
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: up for each other, even just to talk for an
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: hour and a half.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: I think, especially during this time, I find myself really
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: longing for human connection and reaching out to friends and family.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: And you know, when we plan to start doing this,
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: you know, COVID hadn't hadn't hit yet, and now that
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: we're doing it in quarantine, I don't know. I think
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: it's more special than it probably would have been because
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: there's this we both have this natural instinct to want
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: to connect and relate and look.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: Back with love.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's all love. It's all love. It's all love.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: So love to all of you who are listening.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: This is a lot of fun, and please keep hitting
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: us up on our social media.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: We love hearing from you.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: We love the response has been really fun, and if
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: you want to ask a question, you can write an
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: email to Scrubs iHeart at gmail dot com. We want
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: to thank Dan and Joelle who make this show.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Possible absolutely, and you also want to thank all the
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: people that we say it almost every week. We want
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: to thank all of you on the front line. We
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: want to thank all of you that work essential jobs
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: that are out there risking your life every day to
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: protect us and to get these things done. You are appreciated,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: You are much appreciated.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, and stay safe because this is this
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: is still going on. I know people are getting tired
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: of it, but stay safe, stay home.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: And on that note, kick it Wilder.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: He's some stories about me, about.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Us, and that's nurses. Energeradi. I say his story that
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: you all should know. So gabb it hey, Rondely
