EU Regulators Back Lilly's Foundayo Pill for Weight Loss and Type 2 Diabetes
Europe's drug regulator has recommended approval of Eli Lilly's once-daily GLP-1 pill Foundayo (orforglipron) for adults, covering both weight management and type 2 diabetes. The European Medicines Agency's human medicines committee (CHMP) adopted its positive opinion on October 15, 2026. In two weight-management studies of 4,740 adults, people taking Foundayo lost around 5% to 11% of their body weight at 72 weeks, depending on dose, compared with about 2% to 2.5% on placebo.
