- 0:04Speaker 1: Smell us now, Lady, Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia Meater Podcast.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Welcome to Meet Eater Radio Live. It's eleven am Mountain
- 0:29Speaker 1: Time on Thursday, January twenty third, and we're live for
- 0:32Speaker 1: Meet Eater HQ and Bozeman, Montana. I'm your host, Spencer
- 0:35Speaker 1: new Art, joined today by Corin Schneider and Corey Colkins.
- 0:39Speaker 1: On today's show, we'll interview Brian Johnson about getting caught
- 0:43Speaker 1: in a tornado while fishing. After that we'll play Meat
- 0:46Speaker 1: Eater's Prices right. Then we've got a chettikutt about public
- 0:49Speaker 1: land deer hunting, followed by Krin educating us about sea
- 0:53Speaker 1: otter sex. And finally we'll interview Anna Borgmann about how
- 0:57Speaker 1: to be a good customer at the butcher. But first Krinn, Corey,
- 1:01Speaker 1: Phil I have come bearing gifts today. This is for
- 1:05Speaker 1: each of you. Phil Yours is over mine. Karin karinn
- 1:09Speaker 1: Is described that it looks like tartar sauce. That is deer.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Ball.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is off of my Idaho buck that
- 1:22Speaker 1: I killed this fall. I killed him in early October.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Deer are probably like their fattest right at the end
- 1:29Speaker 1: of September, beginning of October. Uh, they've they've like put
- 1:32Speaker 1: on their winter coat and their winter fat by that point,
- 1:35Speaker 1: but they haven't burned it all off by participating in
- 1:38Speaker 1: the rut. So I killed this buck, probably at his
- 1:41Speaker 1: peak fatness. Phil has a picture of him there. But anyway,
- 1:46Speaker 1: I killed this buck, I peeled all that fat off
- 1:48Speaker 1: of him, took that home. I rendered it a few
- 1:51Speaker 1: days later, got a really nice like amber color fat.
- 1:57Speaker 1: That's right. That that was all the fat distilled down
- 2:00Speaker 1: to that did in my slow cooker. And then this
- 2:03Speaker 1: past weekend, my wife and I made a bunch of
- 2:05Speaker 1: products with it. And this that you're getting is what
- 2:08Speaker 1: we're going to call our buck bomb. It is the
- 2:11Speaker 1: deer tallow, its beds wax, it's yarrow infused oil. The
- 2:15Speaker 1: yarrow came from our backyard. And then essential oils. Yeah,
- 2:20Speaker 1: so you could apply this stuff to your lips, dry skin,
- 2:24Speaker 1: fresh tattoo, your leather boots, leather purses, but whatever you
- 2:28Speaker 1: want to put this on. And it's food grade.
- 2:30Speaker 3: So this is great. So you can eat it.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah slather, I mean I wouldn't, but yeah, you slather
- 2:35Speaker 1: wherever you want.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Essential oils might give it off a funky taste. Yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 4: but it sure smells good.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Spencer Crin has done some taste testing already.
- 2:46Speaker 3: It actually doesn't taste that.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It tastes just to taste like essential oils.
- 2:50Speaker 4: I imagine, way to utilize the entire animal.
- 2:53Speaker 2: It was fun.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It was fun.
- 2:55Speaker 6: You know.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I kill most of my critters during the rout and
- 2:59Speaker 1: they're just like, you know, not a lick of fat
- 3:00Speaker 1: on them. But Idaho has an early rifle season, and
- 3:05Speaker 1: I've already got that same tag for this coming year.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So I'm looking forward to pulling more fat off of
- 3:11Speaker 1: that white tail to make more fun little products like
- 3:14Speaker 1: this for the gift.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah, it's already held my crack knuckles.
- 3:17Speaker 1: There you go, very very help.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Isaac is asking you how many? How many pounds of
- 3:21Speaker 2: fat you've got I'm guessing un rendered.
- 3:23Speaker 1: He's asking, Yeah, I don't know how to describe it
- 3:27Speaker 1: in pounds. I wouldn't say ten pounds. I would say,
- 3:33Speaker 1: if you took how can I think about this? How many?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Probably like, uh, if you if you had like a
- 3:39Speaker 1: basketball and you packed that whole thing full of fat.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Shelby piped in and said eighty one ounces.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Any one else, Okay, thank you Shelby that that is
- 3:49Speaker 1: my wife. I've encouraged her throughout this process to take
- 3:53Speaker 1: some really good notes. So we were very satisfied with
- 3:56Speaker 1: the project or with the products this time. But next
- 3:59Speaker 1: time it's gonna be even better.
- 4:01Speaker 5: The texture of it seems a bit whip, like it's
- 4:03Speaker 5: whipped your life.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Good, good job caring. Yes, we did whip it, and
- 4:07Speaker 1: that makes it go a little bit further. So this
- 4:10Speaker 1: this stuff, I don't think it was either not whipped
- 4:12Speaker 1: or not whipped for very long. But we did whip
- 4:14Speaker 1: a lot of our products. We made lotion, we made butter,
- 4:18Speaker 1: we made a body scrub, we made chapstick, a lot
- 4:22Speaker 1: of different stuff. Fun way to spend a Sunday.
- 4:24Speaker 3: You guys make soap.
- 4:26Speaker 1: We did not make soap quite yet, we thought about it.
- 4:29Speaker 1: We did make a candle though with it as well.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yeah nice, So give me a review after you've used
- 4:35Speaker 1: this for a little bit on your your skin and
- 4:37Speaker 1: your leather. Thank you, No problem. All right, we're gonna
- 4:41Speaker 1: get right into the show. Joining us on the line
- 4:43Speaker 1: first is Brian Johnson, who is here to talk about
- 4:46Speaker 1: getting caught in a tornado while bass fishing in Texas.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Brian welcome to the show.
- 4:53Speaker 7: Glad to be here.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And while we talked to Brian, Phil is going to
- 4:56Speaker 1: be playing that video that Brian took that day of
- 4:59Speaker 1: fishing in that tornado. First thing tell us about being
- 5:02Speaker 1: on the water leading up to the storm.
- 5:07Speaker 7: So I'd gotten up that morning.
- 5:08Speaker 8: It was after Christmas, and my kids had gone to
- 5:12Speaker 8: visit some other family and I'd stayed back.
- 5:14Speaker 7: So I thought, Man, I'm gonna go fishing today.
- 5:18Speaker 8: I knew that there was bad weather in the area,
- 5:22Speaker 8: but all of the forecasts that I saw storm that
- 5:26Speaker 8: were coming, they were going to be moving north and east.
- 5:29Speaker 8: So I thought, as long as I looked back to
- 5:31Speaker 8: the south with and there is no bad weather, then
- 5:34Speaker 8: I should be fine. So I went out that day
- 5:37Speaker 8: and I'd been fishing several hours before this video.
- 5:42Speaker 7: Actually takes place. I'd fished for several hours to fish.
- 5:47Speaker 8: As you know as an outdoorsman, crazy things happen in
- 5:50Speaker 8: the wildlife when the barometric pressure starts fluctuating.
- 5:54Speaker 7: And those fish they.
- 5:56Speaker 8: Were biting every cast, every other cast. So I called
- 5:59Speaker 8: my Tony, who's in the boat here with Tony. You
- 6:03Speaker 8: gotta get out here. The fishing is amazing. They're going crazy.
- 6:08Speaker 8: So we never intended to film a tornado. We're filming
- 6:14Speaker 8: a fishing video and the camera was just left on
- 6:19Speaker 8: during the tornado.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It is really crazy footage. You can see it either
- 6:24Speaker 1: on this episode on the Media podcast YouTube channel, or
- 6:27Speaker 1: I just posted it on my Instagram channel. You'll get
- 6:30Speaker 1: to see what it looks like to be on a
- 6:32Speaker 1: lake in the middle of a tornado. You knew there
- 6:35Speaker 1: was bad weather, but did you know that there was
- 6:38Speaker 1: an EF three tornado with one hundred and thirty eight
- 6:41Speaker 1: mile per hour winds in the area.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, that's not what it was.
- 6:44Speaker 8: So I knew that there was bad weather, and I
- 6:47Speaker 8: knew that there were potential for storms. When I left
- 6:50Speaker 8: that morning, I checked the weather, and then I'm not
- 6:54Speaker 8: just checking the weather the whole rest of the time
- 6:56Speaker 8: I'm fishing. But I did have a few phone calls
- 7:00Speaker 8: from some friends and family saying, hey, you ought to
- 7:04Speaker 8: you need to watch out for this, And I said, hey, look, man,
- 7:06Speaker 8: if thing's moving north, everything to the south in the
- 7:09Speaker 8: middle of that storm, if you look south, it is
- 7:12Speaker 8: still sunshining. So I mean, I was just foolish and
- 7:17Speaker 8: didn't pay attention. In fact, I went back and looked
- 7:19Speaker 8: at a longer version of the video and you can hear.
- 7:22Speaker 7: My phone going off with the warning.
- 7:25Speaker 8: So I would tell people, did I know that I
- 7:28Speaker 8: was going to get in the middle of a tornado?
- 7:29Speaker 7: And so I wanted to catch a fish so bad
- 7:32Speaker 7: that I stayed out there during that? Absolutely not.
- 7:35Speaker 8: But I will tell you I thought tornadoes my experiences,
- 7:39Speaker 8: they look like the movie Twister. It's this gray, skinny
- 7:44Speaker 8: tornado moving across the sky.
- 7:46Speaker 7: That's not what I saw.
- 7:47Speaker 8: What I saw and what you see in that film
- 7:50Speaker 8: is blue and it's very white. I never thought a
- 7:53Speaker 8: tornado would be that wide. That was a very rare
- 7:57Speaker 8: occurrence for our area. So when I saw it over there,
- 8:01Speaker 8: I thought, this is just a rainstorm. That that's rain
- 8:04Speaker 8: over there, and it's going to be moving north, so
- 8:07Speaker 8: I'm not even gonna get wet. By the time I
- 8:10Speaker 8: knew that I was in a tornado, it was too late.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And at what point did you realize it was too late? Though,
- 8:17Speaker 1: Like once the tornado was on top of you, like.
- 8:21Speaker 8: Literally when you're watching the video and I've got my
- 8:24Speaker 8: rod in my hand right there, I'm still playing on
- 8:26Speaker 8: fishing at that point.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Okay, he lost a hat.
- 8:30Speaker 8: I'm still fishing. I lost my hat and then the
- 8:33Speaker 8: wind started blowing real hard, and that's then it's the
- 8:36Speaker 8: first time it's rained all day. Okay, so it starts
- 8:40Speaker 8: to rain, and I looked over at my buddy. I
- 8:42Speaker 8: don't think that I'm in a tornado till right about there,
- 8:46Speaker 8: and then I said, Tony, we are in the tornado.
- 8:50Speaker 8: And the reason I knew it wasn't because of the
- 8:54Speaker 8: rain or even the wind storms. But you couldn't breathe. Okay,
- 9:01Speaker 8: the pressure changed, and I just looked at him. I said, Tony,
- 9:05Speaker 8: we're We're in a tornado. We're in it right now.
- 9:09Speaker 7: And you see me.
- 9:10Speaker 8: The boat is standing steel because I've got one of
- 9:13Speaker 8: those the men coota talon the shallow water anchor that
- 9:16Speaker 8: drives down into the ground. This boat during this whole process,
- 9:20Speaker 8: it's only a cast away from the from the boat dock. Okay,
- 9:25Speaker 8: I'm not in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.
- 9:26Speaker 8: I'm w on a two hundred acre reservoir and I
- 9:28Speaker 8: can see my truck sitting there. I'm thinking, if anything,
- 9:32Speaker 8: I'm so close to safety.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:36Speaker 8: The boat is anchored down and you see me turning
- 9:39Speaker 8: around in the video, and they're like, why is he
- 9:41Speaker 8: staying there? Because I'm waiting for the anchor to come up.
- 9:44Speaker 8: The anchor has it down, so then I start the boat.
- 9:49Speaker 8: The anchor comes up, and that's when we drive towards
- 9:53Speaker 8: the shore.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And you said it was hard to breathe being in
- 9:56Speaker 1: the tornado. Uh, give us some more description of what
- 9:59Speaker 1: is like to be in the middle of a tornado.
- 10:01Speaker 1: What could you see here? Feel?
- 10:04Speaker 7: So you can't see anything? Okay, you can't see anything.
- 10:09Speaker 7: We couldn't.
- 10:10Speaker 8: I couldn't see the bank. I told Tony, I'm gonna
- 10:13Speaker 8: go to the bank. I mean, it's just raining and
- 10:15Speaker 8: it's just helping us. And if you if you're watching
- 10:18Speaker 8: the video, there will come a point in the video
- 10:20Speaker 8: if you listen to it, that that everything goes quiet, okay.
- 10:25Speaker 8: And during that quiet part, they believe that was was
- 10:29Speaker 8: when we went through actually the eye of the storm.
- 10:34Speaker 8: And I'll tell you the so the weather reports had
- 10:37Speaker 8: been all over. We know for sure it was an
- 10:38Speaker 8: e F three, but some of the local reports said
- 10:41Speaker 8: that there were gusts up to one hundred and sixty
- 10:44Speaker 8: one miles an hour. I will tell you this, It
- 10:47Speaker 8: blew my truck off of the levee. It blew my
- 10:49Speaker 8: buddy's truck off of the levee. It rolled another truck
- 10:53Speaker 8: and on the street right right, probably two hundred yards
- 10:57Speaker 8: from where we are, there's the gate.
- 10:59Speaker 7: There are massive power.
- 11:01Speaker 8: Line transmission lines that go to the beach that go
- 11:05Speaker 8: towards High Island and Bolivar Peninsula, and they were built
- 11:09Speaker 8: to withstand hurricane force winds. And they're the big steel
- 11:13Speaker 8: ones that are in concrete at the bottom. Those were
- 11:15Speaker 8: staffed in half on both sides of where we were.
- 11:19Speaker 1: My goodness. So again, you can see this video on
- 11:22Speaker 1: our YouTube channel. We're on my Instagram. The storm or
- 11:27Speaker 1: the video sort of ends after the boat flips over
- 11:30Speaker 1: and you guys are hung up in some shallow water.
- 11:32Speaker 1: At that point, where did the three of you wind
- 11:35Speaker 1: up after the boat got turned over?
- 11:38Speaker 8: Okay, so when you're watching the video and you see
- 11:43Speaker 8: the boat flip over. When the boat flipped over, everyone
- 11:48Speaker 8: was under the boat. We're in the reads. It's probably
- 11:54Speaker 8: waste deep water and where we're under the boat. So
- 12:00Speaker 8: my first thought is I've got to get out from
- 12:03Speaker 8: under this boat. So I'm telling you I tried to
- 12:08Speaker 8: get out from under the boat and my leg was
- 12:13Speaker 8: hung on something. I don't know if it was the
- 12:15Speaker 8: throttle or what, but I was stuck and I couldn't
- 12:19Speaker 8: get out, and the waves and the wind were just
- 12:24Speaker 8: pounding me. So I think for a second, and this
- 12:27Speaker 8: is how they how they drive, how they drown and die.
- 12:30Speaker 7: In the movies. Okay, this is where it's over.
- 12:32Speaker 8: Because I'm half under and half out and trying to
- 12:35Speaker 8: hold on with the waverers splashing in my face. And
- 12:37Speaker 8: I'm telling you, at that time, I cried out to
- 12:40Speaker 8: Jesus and he gave me a piece and said it's
- 12:42Speaker 8: gonna be okay, and somehow everything was calm, and I'm like, okay,
- 12:48Speaker 8: this is not how my story ends. God's got a
- 12:50Speaker 8: plan and a purpose for me. I need to just
- 12:53Speaker 8: calm down. And so I calmed down and I was
- 12:57Speaker 8: able to wiggle and wiggle, and then my legs got
- 13:01Speaker 8: free and I was able to get out. Now the
- 13:03Speaker 8: storm is still the wind is still whipping, so I'm
- 13:06Speaker 8: not wanting to get out of the boat. And I'll
- 13:10Speaker 8: tell you this, and I believe this with all my heart.
- 13:13Speaker 8: I believe that the part of God's plan was that
- 13:16Speaker 8: he saved me by flipping that boat, and he saved
- 13:18Speaker 8: my friend and he saved my dog because had the
- 13:21Speaker 8: boat not flipped, we would have tried to get to
- 13:25Speaker 8: the truck. Had we tried to get to the truck,
- 13:28Speaker 8: we would have literally blown away.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Let wow, what was you? What was your dog doing
- 13:37Speaker 1: while the storm was moving in?
- 13:39Speaker 8: So that dog Sam the fisher dog, and I got
- 13:42Speaker 8: a lot of comments about how terrible I am for
- 13:44Speaker 8: taking that dog fishing.
- 13:46Speaker 7: You came from going fishing. Okay, so when.
- 13:49Speaker 8: The storm comes, you see pacing back and forth and
- 13:52Speaker 8: running around, and he does that a lot, okay, but
- 13:55Speaker 8: so he probably looking back, he knew something was going on.
- 13:59Speaker 8: When the boat fle He went and got up under
- 14:02Speaker 8: the console and he just hung out until we flipped
- 14:05Speaker 8: the boat back over, and then he jumped in our
- 14:08Speaker 8: arms and he got back in the boat.
- 14:09Speaker 7: He was ready to go fishing the same day.
- 14:12Speaker 1: And what's been the feedback like online from people who
- 14:16Speaker 1: have seen the video.
- 14:19Speaker 8: So a lot of the feedback has been in fact,
- 14:22Speaker 8: I took the I took the video down after a
- 14:24Speaker 8: while because I got tired of hearing what an idiot
- 14:28Speaker 8: that I was.
- 14:28Speaker 7: And I would agree that that was a poor decision.
- 14:33Speaker 8: But I told him, I said, you know, some people
- 14:36Speaker 8: were excited to see that God spared us and delivered us,
- 14:40Speaker 8: and others just wanted to talk about we were an idiot.
- 14:42Speaker 8: And I've kind of used it to tell the story.
- 14:46Speaker 8: This is what I believe, Okay, and you may want
- 14:50Speaker 8: to hear this, you may not. I should have died
- 14:52Speaker 8: that day, Okay. It's not a good idea to go
- 14:56Speaker 8: fishing in one hundred and sixty miles on our winds.
- 14:59Speaker 8: Every thing points to all the destruction in the area.
- 15:02Speaker 8: I should have died, but I was in a storm.
- 15:06Speaker 8: That was my fault. That's what I tell people. Sometimes
- 15:10Speaker 8: get we face storms in life. Sometimes they're your fault,
- 15:13Speaker 8: sometimes they're not. This was one hundred percent.
- 15:16Speaker 7: My fault, but God still delivered me.
- 15:18Speaker 8: So I've used this storm as an opportunity to tell
- 15:21Speaker 8: people that, hey, if you're in a storm of life,
- 15:24Speaker 8: cry out to Jesus.
- 15:25Speaker 7: He can deliver you, even if it's your fault.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And what's the status of the boats and all the
- 15:30Speaker 1: gear that was in the boat?
- 15:33Speaker 8: So the status of the boat and all the gear
- 15:36Speaker 8: was a total loss by the insurance company. But I
- 15:43Speaker 8: am and that's mainly because the value of the motor
- 15:48Speaker 8: that was. You can't replace the motor. It costs more
- 15:52Speaker 8: than everything was worth. And since it went upside down,
- 15:55Speaker 8: an insurance company is.
- 15:56Speaker 7: Not willing to mess with that. But I will tell
- 16:00Speaker 7: you this, I went fishing in it this weekend.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Okay, good to know.
- 16:07Speaker 8: We had this Texas storm with the blizzard and the
- 16:11Speaker 8: cold weather, and I tried to go. I couldn't get
- 16:15Speaker 8: my boat out in the blizzard, but I did go
- 16:17Speaker 8: fishing in some of the local ponds in the blizzard.
- 16:19Speaker 8: Now I tell people this, Okay, I fished in a
- 16:22Speaker 8: tornado and I fished in a blizzard, and the fish
- 16:25Speaker 8: a lot better before a tornado. But I don't recommend
- 16:29Speaker 8: either one.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Okay, good to know. Last question for you, Brian, and
- 16:33Speaker 1: you are more qualified to answer this than anybody I know.
- 16:36Speaker 1: But it's a bad day of fishing really better than
- 16:39Speaker 1: a good day of work.
- 16:42Speaker 7: And I haven't had very many bad days of fishing.
- 16:44Speaker 7: And all's well.
- 16:47Speaker 1: That ends well, okay, all right, So still the jury
- 16:52Speaker 1: is still out if a bad day of fishing is
- 16:55Speaker 1: better than a good day of work, all right. Well,
- 16:57Speaker 1: thank you for joining us, Brian. We're glad you got
- 16:59Speaker 1: out to say to tell us your story.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Brian, We're glad you're still here.
- 17:03Speaker 6: Thank you you guys.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Ever been caught in any like insane way? I mean
- 17:09Speaker 1: I felt like I have, But once I saw this video,
- 17:11Speaker 1: it's like, no, I've never been close to something like
- 17:13Speaker 1: that before.
- 17:14Speaker 5: I mean, not like that. I was in a sandstorm
- 17:17Speaker 5: in Egypt, but that's about it.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Is that scary.
- 17:21Speaker 3: It wasn't that that that bad.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But yeah, we were outside during it.
- 17:27Speaker 3: I was outside.
- 17:27Speaker 1: It had to be like painful.
- 17:31Speaker 5: I was outside for a while until we got to
- 17:34Speaker 5: our vehicle.
- 17:36Speaker 9: It.
- 17:37Speaker 3: You know, it's just a new environment.
- 17:39Speaker 5: It's not like I grew up in a desert, you know,
- 17:41Speaker 5: and so just to see how you can, you know,
- 17:43Speaker 5: you see it in movies and in shows, and until
- 17:46Speaker 5: you're in something like that, you don't realize the various
- 17:53Speaker 5: powers of mother nature and and what you can. You know,
- 17:58Speaker 5: what was previously calm seem a little bit chaotic.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Was there a wall like a wave of sand coming
- 18:05Speaker 4: towards it like I've seen in photo.
- 18:06Speaker 5: No, I don't know if scenes like that are more.
- 18:12Speaker 5: I'm sure that's actually real and not just film, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 5: special effects.
- 18:18Speaker 3: But no, not like that.
- 18:21Speaker 5: It was just very windy and sand is all around,
- 18:23Speaker 5: so you can see the the kind of how the
- 18:26Speaker 5: wind funnels and how the wind spins up because it's
- 18:29Speaker 5: it's just kind of like in Brian's video. You see
- 18:32Speaker 5: that with the water, you see that with vapor, you
- 18:34Speaker 5: can see that bit with sand.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just a unique experience.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Or you got anything that's arrivaled with Brian experienced.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Man, I can relate to not being able to breathe
- 18:46Speaker 4: in the wind. I've hunted in some windy areas that
- 18:48Speaker 4: you know, at least looking towards the wind, you can't
- 18:51Speaker 4: see anything. You can't breathe, you you know, basically just
- 18:54Speaker 4: turn and look the other way to catch your breath
- 18:56Speaker 4: and then walk back into the wind. In April two
- 18:58Speaker 4: thousand and I was in a suburb of Saint Louis
- 19:02Speaker 4: when a EF four went through Saint Louis. I think
- 19:05Speaker 4: it really messed up the Lambert Airport in Saint Louis.
- 19:08Speaker 4: It was actually the day I met my wife. So
- 19:11Speaker 4: as a Montana kid, we were watching a movie in
- 19:14Speaker 4: the theater and all of a sudden they're like, you
- 19:16Speaker 4: gotta leave the theater. There's a tornado. Like twenty miles away,
- 19:19Speaker 4: so you can't stay here.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Where are they going to send you to at that?
- 19:21Speaker 4: Well, they all suggested go into the restroom. But my
- 19:23Speaker 4: buddy and I went outside and I'm not a smoker,
- 19:26Speaker 4: but I went and smoked a cigarette. Yeah, and then
- 19:29Speaker 4: I met my wife later that day.
- 19:31Speaker 1: There you go. Yeah, it all worked out.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Yeah, memorable day.
- 19:37Speaker 1: All right. Our next segment is a new segment. This
- 19:40Speaker 1: is Meat Eater's Prices right.
- 19:45Speaker 7: Here.
- 19:46Speaker 2: It comes from Bozeman, Montana. Meetia Radio's most exciting fifteen minutes.
- 19:52Speaker 2: It's the price is right. Yay, Cringe Schneider, come on now,
- 19:59Speaker 2: damn she's here a Cory Calkins, come on down the
- 20:07Speaker 2: contestants on media radios. The price is right. Now, here's
- 20:12Speaker 2: your host, Spencer newh Wow, what an intro.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Phil was trying to downplay how well he would do that.
- 20:21Speaker 1: He said, I don't quite have it in me to
- 20:25Speaker 1: do it like a professional, but I'll give it my best.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And his best was damn good Phil, well done.
- 20:30Speaker 9: Thanks?
- 20:30Speaker 5: All right.
- 20:31Speaker 1: This game is really simple. Phil is going to tell
- 20:33Speaker 1: you about a product from the Meat Eater universe, and
- 20:36Speaker 1: you need to guess its price. The player with the
- 20:39Speaker 1: closest answer without going over will be declared the winner.
- 20:42Speaker 1: If both players go over, then you'll both be told
- 20:45Speaker 1: to try again, and the chant should play along as well,
- 20:48Speaker 1: because whoever has the closest answer is going to get
- 20:51Speaker 1: a shout out. Phil is going to be watching for that,
- 20:54Speaker 1: all right. There are five products for today's show. Take
- 20:57Speaker 1: it away, Phil, this is so good.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Our first product is one night in the Governor's Suite
- 21:06Speaker 2: of the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Wow.
- 21:08Speaker 2: This two thousand square foot suite is the Shangri Law
- 21:10Speaker 2: of Memphis, Tennessee. From the third four balcony, you'll be
- 21:13Speaker 2: able to watch customers peruse the world's biggest bass Pro
- 21:15Speaker 2: shops below. The room comes with a king bed, two
- 21:18Speaker 2: queen beds, three bathrooms, two air tubs, three fireplaces, and
- 21:21Speaker 2: a holy stocked kitchen. But no worries if you don't
- 21:24Speaker 2: feel like cooking. You're just a stone's throw from Uncle
- 21:27Speaker 2: Buck's fish bowling grill.
- 21:29Speaker 1: And Phil is now showing us some photos of the
- 21:32Speaker 1: Pyramid and that governor Suite. Yeah, I hope the guy
- 21:36Speaker 1: who asks for honeymoon recommendations is watching again this week,
- 21:39Speaker 1: because buddy, I know just the place for you. All right,
- 21:42Speaker 1: Corea and Corey, Now you need to guess the price
- 21:46Speaker 1: of a one night stay at the Governor Suite of
- 21:49Speaker 1: the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid. Man, they have their whiteboards
- 21:54Speaker 1: in front of them. They're gonna write down their answer,
- 21:57Speaker 1: and our chat is also participating in this. Again, you
- 22:00Speaker 1: need to come up with the price of the one
- 22:03Speaker 1: night chat.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I'm so proud of you, but holy crap, I'm not
- 22:06Speaker 2: going to be able to sift through going to do
- 22:09Speaker 2: my best.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so one night at the Governor Suite of the
- 22:13Speaker 1: Bass Pro Shops Pyramid. This is the nicest room that
- 22:18Speaker 1: they offer. Again, it has a king bed, two queen beds,
- 22:22Speaker 1: three bathrooms, two airtubs, three fireplaces, and a fully stocked kitchen.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Three bathrooms made me change my answer.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Three bathrooms. He's at an extra thousand dollars just two
- 22:34Speaker 1: thousand square feet. Huh you could live here? Yeah, okay,
- 22:39Speaker 1: And again, you can't go over. We're doing prices right
- 22:43Speaker 1: rooms both. If you both go over, then you'll both
- 22:46Speaker 1: be told to try again. Phil, how's our chat doing?
- 22:51Speaker 1: Is anybody few close answers?
- 22:53Speaker 2: And I'm trusting our contestants in the room to not
- 22:55Speaker 2: look at which come in time bookmarking give something a uh.
- 23:00Speaker 1: We're also trusting our live chat to not google the
- 23:03Speaker 1: correct answer because our last guests he would tell you
- 23:09Speaker 1: that God is watching right now and he will know
- 23:11Speaker 1: if you cheat at the meat eater prices. Right, amen,
- 23:15Speaker 1: Do both of you have an answer for the price
- 23:17Speaker 1: of one night in the Governor's Suite to the bass
- 23:19Speaker 1: Pro Shops pyramid. Yes, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 23:23Speaker 1: We have Corinne saying one thousand, two hundred twenty five
- 23:27Speaker 1: dollars and Corey says eight hundred ninety nine. The correct
- 23:32Speaker 1: answer is one thousand, five hundred thirty nine dollars. Corinne
- 23:39Speaker 1: was three hundred dollars off. She gets the first point. Now,
- 23:42Speaker 1: that is one thousand, four hundred ninety nine dollars for
- 23:45Speaker 1: the room and forty dollars for the resort feed.
- 23:49Speaker 2: We have RM in the chat who gets fifteen hundred
- 23:51Speaker 2: Hell yeah, RM, he.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Was only thirty nine dollars off. Well done, RM, fifteen
- 23:56Speaker 1: hundred dollars for the best dang sweet at the bass
- 23:59Speaker 1: Pro Shops pyramid. If I had, like you know, uh,
- 24:03Speaker 1: six people in on this thinguely we'll make a trip
- 24:08Speaker 1: to Memphis. Uh huh, three couples will go to Memphis.
- 24:11Speaker 1: We're gonna stay in the shangle law of Memphis, Tennessee.
- 24:15Speaker 1: It all right, Phil, what is our next item?
- 24:20Speaker 2: Well, spender, our next item on the docket is a
- 24:22Speaker 2: bison cheeseburger from Ted's Montana Grill.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Oh, I think some of us might know how much.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Ted turnerunds two million acres of land, making him the
- 24:30Speaker 2: third largest land owner in America. What's to do with
- 24:33Speaker 2: all that property? Well, he raises bison, of course, and
- 24:35Speaker 2: after those buffalo have been slaughtered, some end up at
- 24:37Speaker 2: Ted's Montana Grill, which has thirty eight locations from Atlanta
- 24:40Speaker 2: to New York City to Bozeman, Montana. The bison cheeseburger
- 24:43Speaker 2: comes with a slice of cheddar lettuce, onion, tomato, and
- 24:46Speaker 2: side of fries.
- 24:47Speaker 1: That's right, Phil, And the Bozeman location has three point
- 24:50Speaker 1: four stars on Yelp, which is the same as the
- 24:53Speaker 1: Taco Bell on Main Street. All right, Koeen and Corey,
- 24:57Speaker 1: what's that bison cheeseburger cost?
- 25:00Speaker 2: Wait?
- 25:00Speaker 4: Does it come with that coke?
- 25:01Speaker 9: And?
- 25:01Speaker 10: Maybe?
- 25:01Speaker 5: Uh?
- 25:02Speaker 1: No? Just the men, that's just their uh they're dulled
- 25:05Speaker 1: up photo on their website. It's very pretty. It's got
- 25:08Speaker 1: a little toothpick with an American flag. It's got uh
- 25:11Speaker 1: what it looks like, I don't know, roop your float
- 25:13Speaker 1: or chocolate milkshake in the background. Uh huh, A giant
- 25:17Speaker 1: helping of fries and then a bottle of coke. And
- 25:21Speaker 1: you need to tell me what the price of that
- 25:23Speaker 1: bison cheeseburger from Ted's Montana Grill is.
- 25:26Speaker 4: That ain't no smash burger.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Phil You ever eating that Ted's Montana Grill?
- 25:31Speaker 2: I have several times. I gotta say, it's not one
- 25:33Speaker 2: of my go to places, but I don't think I've
- 25:35Speaker 2: ever had a bad meal.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Okay, how about you, Corey, what's your review of Ted's
- 25:38Speaker 1: Montana Grill.
- 25:39Speaker 4: I've been there a couple times, and.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You're a native Montana so it must be like your
- 25:43Speaker 1: favorite place. It has Montana in the name.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that's true, isn't I guided Ted Turner fishing once?
- 25:50Speaker 1: Oh tell us about that? Oh he's a great guy.
- 25:53Speaker 1: H what kind of tipped you?
- 25:55Speaker 4: But I definitely, uh, well, fat one. I mean it's
- 25:59Speaker 4: just kind of all part of the program. It was
- 26:00Speaker 4: it was it was a fat one about like that cheeseburger.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Uh huh, yeah, good. Corin You ever been to Ted's
- 26:05Speaker 1: Montana Gris.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Yeah, it's been a couple of years. I think I've
- 26:08Speaker 5: been two or three times over the past few years.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Maybe that Bison berger went up in priced all my.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Number twenty twenty five.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Again, we're looking at the price of a Bison cheeseburger
- 26:21Speaker 1: from Ted's Montana Grill. It comes with a slice of
- 26:24Speaker 1: cheddar lettuce, onion tomato, and a side of fries. Are
- 26:27Speaker 1: both of you ready?
- 26:28Speaker 2: Ready?
- 26:28Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Wow, I'm not convinced
- 26:33Speaker 1: there wasn't some cheating going on here. But we have
- 26:36Speaker 1: Corinne saying twenty dollars and ninety nine cents and Corey
- 26:41Speaker 1: says twenty one dollars. It's probably incredible. The thing is
- 26:46Speaker 1: both of you are too high, so you're going to
- 26:50Speaker 1: have to try again. Both of you will come up
- 26:52Speaker 1: with a new answer. You know that it is less
- 26:55Speaker 1: than twenty dollars and ninety nine cents.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I didn't prep this sound, but if if I had,
- 27:00Speaker 2: I would have done the two about.
- 27:02Speaker 1: There you go, Yeah, we don't even need the sound effect.
- 27:05Speaker 1: There is the sound effect. So again, both of our
- 27:08Speaker 1: players were too high. We know that the correct answer
- 27:11Speaker 1: is less than twenty dollars and ninety nine cents. Are
- 27:14Speaker 1: you ready with your new answers? Go ahead and reveal
- 27:17Speaker 1: your answers. We have Krinn saying eighteen ninety nine and
- 27:22Speaker 1: Corey says nineteen. It's gotta be up there.
- 27:26Speaker 4: It doesn't have to go far to get.
- 27:27Speaker 1: His me The correct answer is nineteen dollars. Karen was
- 27:33Speaker 1: a penny off. Well done, Krin, She takes her second point,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and Andrew Bryant was also.
- 27:40Speaker 2: We had six or seven people.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Guest, Expenser, are you googling this stuff?
- 27:49Speaker 5: We should have known that that Ted is a classy gentleman,
- 27:52Speaker 5: and he wouldn't really be pricing things with ninety nine cents.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Sure his many nineteen dollars.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Marketing plus yeah Latin numbers.
- 28:01Speaker 1: It'd probably be hid an extra ninety nine cents if
- 28:04Speaker 1: you wanted, like an extra piece of cheese on there
- 28:06Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Tickle.
- 28:09Speaker 1: So Corinne has already taken two points, Corey, you've got
- 28:12Speaker 1: some catching up still.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Again, I'm pitched at trivia, so I might as well
- 28:16Speaker 5: be good at some kind of.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Game around here.
- 28:18Speaker 1: That that bison cheeseburger from Ted's Montana Grill cost nineteen dollars. Phil,
- 28:22Speaker 1: what's our next item.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Well, Spencer, our next item is ice fishing. Oh nope, yep,
- 28:27Speaker 2: Verry our ice fishing gear from Facebook marketplace. Shane from
- 28:31Speaker 2: billing said he hates the cold, so he's ready to
- 28:33Speaker 2: give up this damn sport. Hane from his ice fishing
- 28:35Speaker 2: lot includes a Capella's collapsible hut, ice crews, two ice
- 28:38Speaker 2: fishing poles, two rod holders, ice scoops and an ice
- 28:40Speaker 2: shovel on when we start that music again, and the
- 28:43Speaker 2: Cobra Strike Master gas powered iceager with an eight inch blade.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Everything has been stored in Climbate control garage and is
- 28:49Speaker 2: like new, but it hasn't been used in eight years.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And Shane's other Facebook market place listings include a nineteen
- 28:56Speaker 1: seventy six Harley and a two thousand and nine Kawasaki.
- 29:00Speaker 1: He says he'll accept this dollar offer for the ice
- 29:04Speaker 1: fishing gear or obo which is or best offer? So
- 29:08Speaker 1: what does Shane want for this ice fishing equipment?
- 29:12Speaker 5: Is that Cabbella's tent insulated like an esk.
- 29:17Speaker 1: It does not appear to be insulated again. The stuff
- 29:22Speaker 1: that he's offering is a Cabbella's collapsible hut ice crews,
- 29:26Speaker 1: two ice fishing poles which I couldn't see the brand
- 29:29Speaker 1: on them, two rod holders, two ice scoops, and a
- 29:33Speaker 1: shovel with a gas powered ice auger that has an
- 29:36Speaker 1: eight inch blade. I found this on Facebook marketplace yesterday.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And if someone is interested in all this gear, you
- 29:44Speaker 1: just hop on the billings Facebook marketplace and you'll find
- 29:48Speaker 1: you'll find Shane's listings.
- 29:51Speaker 4: What'd you say about the augur what was wrong with it?
- 29:53Speaker 1: Well, he said in his listing it said the carburetor
- 29:56Speaker 1: might need to be cleaned. Nothing. He didn't say anything
- 30:00Speaker 1: was wrong with it. It's a gas powered ice auger
- 30:03Speaker 1: with an eight inch blade, and everything has been stored
- 30:06Speaker 1: in a climate controlled garage, which is a big deal.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Phil is showing us photos of all of these products
- 30:13Speaker 1: thus far. Uh huh. He showed us some pictures of
- 30:17Speaker 1: the bass Pro Shops Pyramid Governor Suite. Then he showed
- 30:21Speaker 1: us a picture of Ted's Bison cheeseburger. And now we're
- 30:24Speaker 1: looking at Shane's listing from Facebook marketplace of ice fishing
- 30:28Speaker 1: gear or both of you ready, and he's hard up
- 30:31Speaker 1: to get rid of it. It sounds like he's listed multiple
- 30:35Speaker 1: things on marketplace right now. He must be looking to,
- 30:38Speaker 1: you know, clear out the garage a little. And he
- 30:40Speaker 1: said that he's looking for this amount of money or
- 30:43Speaker 1: best offer. So think about that when you're coming up
- 30:46Speaker 1: with your answer. Is everybody ready? He's sick of the cold.
- 30:51Speaker 1: That's right. I went to his Facebook profile to look
- 30:53Speaker 1: at it afterwards, and no, he's from Billings.
- 30:57Speaker 7: No, no, but.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Maybe somebody.
- 31:00Speaker 5: I think he was from someplace else, he said, moved
- 31:02Speaker 5: to Billings.
- 31:03Speaker 1: He said, Shane to it.
- 31:04Speaker 3: He got too cold.
- 31:05Speaker 1: He wants to He shared the size profile. Someone said, Shane,
- 31:07Speaker 1: why are you get rid of that stuff? And he said,
- 31:09Speaker 1: because I hate the cold. Both. Are you ready? Billings
- 31:12Speaker 1: is usually warmer. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 31:16Speaker 1: have Karn saying five hundred and fifty nine dollars and
- 31:20Speaker 1: Corey says two hundred and fifty dollars.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Is going to get this one right? Because I don't
- 31:23Speaker 3: I don't really know.
- 31:25Speaker 1: The correct answer. I do know it's three hundred and
- 31:28Speaker 1: fifty dollars. Cory takes that point. Well done, Corey. It
- 31:33Speaker 1: is two to one going in to our fourth item
- 31:37Speaker 1: we had.
- 31:37Speaker 2: That's up three people guests three fifty. We had Ben
- 31:41Speaker 2: and Joey.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Well done, Max, Ben and Joey got a dead nuts.
- 31:45Speaker 4: He'll take two fifty to get the hell out of it.
- 31:47Speaker 1: That's right, I think if you offered him to fifty,
- 31:49Speaker 1: head over to Facebook marketplace. Are your search to billings
- 31:52Speaker 1: and you can get Shane's ice fishing gear. Bill what's
- 31:55Speaker 1: our next? Sie them up forbid.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Sorry, I'm pressing a lot of buttons here, well, Spencer.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Our next item is a cattle ranch in northern Kansas.
- 32:06Speaker 2: This eight hundred and sixty five acre property is seven
- 32:08Speaker 2: hundred acres of pasture, one hundred and sixty acres of
- 32:11Speaker 2: tillable land, and five acres of food plots. The ranch
- 32:14Speaker 2: has deer, turkeys, pheasant, quail, squirrels, and rabbits. Cattle not included,
- 32:18Speaker 2: but it does come with two tower blinds at a
- 32:20Speaker 2: three thousand pound gravity feeder, guaranteeing you'll kill a big
- 32:23Speaker 2: giant white tail buck every fall. If Spencer wins the lottery,
- 32:26Speaker 2: he'll tell meat eater, smell you lator, and is going
- 32:29Speaker 2: to go buy this property.
- 32:31Speaker 1: But I don't play the lottery, So you listeners are
- 32:33Speaker 1: stuck with me. Now I found this listing through whitetail properties,
- 32:37Speaker 1: and now you need to guess that price.
- 32:40Speaker 3: For eight hundred and fifty acres in Kansas.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Eight hundred and sixty five acres, And how that breaks
- 32:44Speaker 1: down is it's seven hundred acres of pasture, one hundred
- 32:48Speaker 1: and sixty acres of tillable, and five acres of food plots.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Plus it comes with a couple deer towers and a
- 32:56Speaker 1: gravity feeder. Phil is showing you some photos and that's
- 33:00Speaker 1: a trail camp photo from that property on November twenty fourth.
- 33:06Speaker 1: We've got a triple main beam bruiser who is helping
- 33:10Speaker 1: himself to some corn.
- 33:11Speaker 4: It looks like got him sol stuck in Montana.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Land prices eight hundred and sixty five acres in northern Kansas.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I mean, see a lot of writing on these whiteboards.
- 33:30Speaker 1: This is our fourth item with Krinn where to get
- 33:33Speaker 1: this right, she would win this week's game of Price
- 33:36Speaker 1: is right?
- 33:38Speaker 9: This is.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Maybe I'm really low.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Ohah, just keep it. Maybe Corey went really high and
- 33:46Speaker 1: then you'll just win by default.
- 33:48Speaker 4: That buck keeps the price high though.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Phil's showing us again some aerial photos of the property.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Plus a trail cam photo of a big giant white
- 33:56Speaker 1: tail buck. Are both of you ready, yep? Go ahead
- 34:00Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. Wow, we have Cory saying one
- 34:04Speaker 1: dollar and Corinne says eight million dollars. This is probably
- 34:10Speaker 1: the largest spread I imagined we'll ever have without DNA
- 34:13Speaker 1: game of meat eater prices right, and eight million dollar
- 34:17Speaker 1: difference in their answers. The correct answer is two point
- 34:23Speaker 1: four million, making Corey our winner of the fourth item.
- 34:29Speaker 1: That's two thousand and seven hundred dollars per acre, which
- 34:33Speaker 1: is actually kind of cheap. Two seven hundred dollars in
- 34:36Speaker 1: Northern Kansas.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Definitely in Montana.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Hey, that's okay. Grinn eight million, Hey, I bet he
- 34:40Speaker 1: would take that offer if you said, hey, I'll give
- 34:42Speaker 1: you eight million for this I origin. I guess one
- 34:45Speaker 1: point seven.
- 34:48Speaker 3: That's a lot.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Can you lease that out for a lot of money
- 34:51Speaker 5: to Yeah?
- 34:53Speaker 1: You could, yeah, North northern Kansas. That is that's premier
- 34:55Speaker 1: whitetail country. You'd have a line of customers if you said,
- 34:58Speaker 1: I want to lease this property out. All right, it
- 35:00Speaker 1: all comes down to our last item. Oh and Phil,
- 35:03Speaker 1: did we have anybody who got yeah?
- 35:04Speaker 2: Well, two we had Gus and then apologies to the
- 35:06Speaker 2: person I just had on screen, but you all saw
- 35:08Speaker 2: his name, so they.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Got it right on the nose.
- 35:10Speaker 2: They got two point four. Yeah, two people said two
- 35:12Speaker 2: point four.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Well done Gus and the other guy on screen. Perhaps
- 35:17Speaker 1: if they worked for Whitetail Properties, they're the broker, all right.
- 35:20Speaker 1: It all comes down to this last item. Phil tell
- 35:23Speaker 1: us about the fifth thing forbid Well.
- 35:27Speaker 2: The last item on our docket today is a scoop
- 35:29Speaker 2: of minnos from HR one stop in Wabe, South Dakota.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Right here it is. HR one Stop is a gas
- 35:38Speaker 2: station with a hardware store attached, making it a pillar
- 35:40Speaker 2: of the Wabe community, population four hundred and seventy five.
- 35:43Speaker 2: They're all inclusive shopping experience, offers fishing, tackle, groceries, hot stuff, pizza, video, lottery, liquor,
- 35:49Speaker 2: and of course bait. It's Spenser's favorite place to buy
- 35:52Speaker 2: minnos and he's purchased thousands from them over the years.
- 35:55Speaker 1: That's right. And I called them yesterday and I asked
- 35:57Speaker 1: some high school cashier what a scoop of minnos is
- 36:00Speaker 1: currently selling for? Now, you need to guess that price.
- 36:03Speaker 1: We're going to go two cents on this, So if
- 36:06Speaker 1: you think it's nine ninety nine, you're gonna write down
- 36:08Speaker 1: nine to ninety nine or your answer again, one scoop
- 36:13Speaker 1: of minnows from the place that I have bought more
- 36:15Speaker 1: bait from than anywhere else on the planet. The HR
- 36:18Speaker 1: one stop in Waba, South Dakota, and Phil is showing
- 36:22Speaker 1: us a generic stock image of a scoop of minos
- 36:24Speaker 1: plus that actual gas station. All right, do you players
- 36:29Speaker 1: have your answer? And do we have two decimal places
- 36:31Speaker 1: in your answer? Okay, Corey, how do you feel about
- 36:34Speaker 1: your answer?
- 36:34Speaker 7: Not great?
- 36:35Speaker 4: I've never bought minnos?
- 36:36Speaker 1: Okay, Kurin, how do you feel about your an? I
- 36:38Speaker 1: could be off Corey the rare fishing guide who's never
- 36:42Speaker 1: purchased a scoop of minnows. Nope, it all comes down
- 36:45Speaker 1: to this. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 36:49Speaker 1: Krin saying three dollars and seventy nine cents, and Corey
- 36:54Speaker 1: says fourteen dollars and one cent.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Embarrassingly low.
- 37:00Speaker 1: You were too high. So you're going to come up
- 37:03Speaker 1: with another answer, and then that's how we're going to
- 37:07Speaker 1: declare winner. I love your answer of fourteen dollars, Corey.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Is it arrested development Phil where it's she's like, what
- 37:12Speaker 1: is what is it?
- 37:13Speaker 2: Banana?
- 37:13Speaker 9: Cast?
- 37:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's the vibe I got from Corey's answer there,
- 37:18Speaker 1: what is what is a banana? Caused? So fu mean
- 37:22Speaker 1: man's answer of three seventy nine is that what you
- 37:26Speaker 1: had three seventy nine was too high. Both of our
- 37:29Speaker 1: players are going to come up with another answer, and
- 37:32Speaker 1: hopefully after this round we can declare ourselves a winner. Yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 1: are the two of you ready? Go ahead and reveal
- 37:39Speaker 1: your answers. Wow, we have Coy whatag a dollar eighty
- 37:45Speaker 1: eight and Karen saying a dollar eighty nine. Corey is
- 37:49Speaker 1: going to have to hope that he got it dead
- 37:51Speaker 1: nuts to be the winner, and he did not. The
- 37:54Speaker 1: correct answer is three dollars and forty six cents, making
- 37:58Speaker 1: karenn our well earned. Corenn, your first answer, you were
- 38:02Speaker 1: only like thirty cents off, so you were you had
- 38:05Speaker 1: it narrowed down.
- 38:06Speaker 3: This is the most fun thing.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Oh, thank you that this is so.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Fun, Thank you, thank you. You can go claim your
- 38:12Speaker 1: prizes from hr upstairs. They've actually got the scoop of
- 38:15Speaker 1: minos a cattle ranch. I already got all the fishing
- 38:18Speaker 1: gear from Shane, and then we'll have about you one
- 38:22Speaker 1: night stay, a new car and a brand new car.
- 38:26Speaker 1: That's right, all right, Thanks everybody for playing along, and
- 38:29Speaker 1: remember help control the pet population. Have your pets, Spade
- 38:32Speaker 1: and Newter. All right, Phil, Let's take a break for
- 38:36Speaker 1: some listener feedback. What's the chat?
- 38:38Speaker 2: Once again? I feel like I always have some sort
- 38:40Speaker 2: of disclaimer every time the listener feedback comes up.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Hold on who was closest?
- 38:43Speaker 2: On our last answer, we had Owen and Bradley, both
- 38:46Speaker 2: guests three twenty five. I think that was the closest.
- 38:48Speaker 2: There might have been one or another one who slipped
- 38:50Speaker 2: in there, but Bradley and Owen said, uh, we have
- 38:53Speaker 2: a few questions, do a legitimate one. First, sad Squad
- 38:58Speaker 2: was asking, being brand new to an area, what would
- 39:01Speaker 2: you consider to be a better use of time scouting
- 39:04Speaker 2: public lands are searching for private landowners willing to let
- 39:06Speaker 2: you hunt.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I would say it depends on what you're hunting and
- 39:10Speaker 1: where you're at, Sad Squatch. If you are looking to
- 39:13Speaker 1: hunt white tail deer and you live in the Golden
- 39:17Speaker 1: Triangle of white tails in Illinois, you're gonna probably knock
- 39:21Speaker 1: on one hundred doors and get told no one hundred times.
- 39:24Speaker 1: That's just the reality of like looking to hunt a
- 39:27Speaker 1: specific animal in a place that's known for it. But
- 39:30Speaker 1: if maybe you know, you're in eastern Colorado and you're
- 39:34Speaker 1: looking to hunt white tails there, or if you even
- 39:37Speaker 1: you know, lower your expectations to just small game or turkeys,
- 39:42Speaker 1: you're gonna have a lot better odds of getting private
- 39:44Speaker 1: land permission there. So I would say it depends where
- 39:47Speaker 1: you're at, how coveted is the thing that you're looking
- 39:49Speaker 1: to hunt in that area, and how much public land
- 39:52Speaker 1: is there. The best answer, and give you sad squatch
- 39:56Speaker 1: is do both of those things. The best hunters they
- 39:59Speaker 1: have a plant ABCDE and to pull that off, it's
- 40:03Speaker 1: probably going to be a mix of private and a
- 40:06Speaker 1: mix of public. Corey Kuran anything to add, Yeah, you
- 40:10Speaker 1: were spot on. I mean, if you're targeting bull elk.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Yeah, knocking on doors isn't going to get you anywhere
- 40:15Speaker 4: about ten thousand dollars.
- 40:16Speaker 1: So scout hard. There you go, Phil anything else?
- 40:22Speaker 2: Great? John is asking about your opinion about how close
- 40:25Speaker 2: it is acceptable to set up next to someone while
- 40:28Speaker 2: ice fishing. You know, it's a lot He noticed a
- 40:30Speaker 2: lot of tight clusters of people on flats chasing lake truck.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I would say, it depends what everyone else is doing.
- 40:36Speaker 1: If there's like, you know, already twelve guys in the area,
- 40:41Speaker 1: I think you can be the thirteenth and just don't
- 40:44Speaker 1: be the dude who set up the closest out of
- 40:46Speaker 1: all thirteen of those guys. But if there's only one
- 40:49Speaker 1: ice fishing shack on this whole little lake or this
- 40:52Speaker 1: stretch of lake, you best not be within, like, you know,
- 40:56Speaker 1: fifty yards of them.
- 40:57Speaker 4: That's what I would say, Go explore, keep your disc
- 41:00Speaker 4: since sure that drives me nuts, But I guess I'm
- 41:03Speaker 4: not familiar with lakes that are just you know, overpopulated
- 41:06Speaker 4: with anglers, So that's a tough one. I guess if
- 41:09Speaker 4: it's really crowded.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Grin, what would you do? You'd be cool setting up
- 41:12Speaker 1: next to those.
- 41:13Speaker 5: No anger to give others privacy and maintain privacy for
- 41:18Speaker 5: myself a little bit of space, so just you know,
- 41:23Speaker 5: show some decency and yeah, try to try to space
- 41:26Speaker 5: out of filler.
- 41:27Speaker 1: We still on air. Looks like it froze.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Oh no, it might have just frozen for the monitor,
- 41:32Speaker 2: okay here, but yes, we are very much on air. Okay,
- 41:34Speaker 2: any any other chat a few more, but let's we'll
- 41:36Speaker 2: hit him at the end, and please keep submitting questions
- 41:39Speaker 2: and we'll try to get him at the end of
- 41:40Speaker 2: the show.
- 41:40Speaker 1: All right. Our next segment is from Chester Floyd. This
- 41:44Speaker 1: is chettiquet.
- 41:45Speaker 2: C t t Q E t t E. Find out
- 41:48Speaker 2: bud means to me? C g t Q you E
- 41:51Speaker 2: t t E take care of give me.
- 41:58Speaker 1: This week, Chester is answering a listener's question about deer
- 42:01Speaker 1: hunting a buddy spot on public land. Take it away, chet.
- 42:06Speaker 10: Hello, everybody, my name's Chester Floyd and I'm coming at
- 42:11Speaker 10: you from Wisconsin this week. This week's Chettikit though, comes
- 42:14Speaker 10: to us from a guy who does not want to
- 42:16Speaker 10: be named.
- 42:17Speaker 6: He writes, I have an etiquette question.
- 42:20Speaker 10: My friend and I have been deer hunting on a
- 42:23Speaker 10: massive public land area in Ontario, Canada called Crownland for the.
- 42:28Speaker 6: Past thirteen years.
- 42:30Speaker 10: It's taken us years to find good hunting spots.
- 42:34Speaker 6: Excuse me.
- 42:35Speaker 10: I hunt there throughout the bow season, the gun season,
- 42:39Speaker 10: and the black powder season that's in December. My friend,
- 42:43Speaker 10: on the other hand, only comes up for the first
- 42:46Speaker 10: three days of the gun hunt.
- 42:48Speaker 6: He baits and.
- 42:49Speaker 10: Typically shoots the first legal deer that shows up, which
- 42:53Speaker 10: is fine by me.
- 42:54Speaker 6: I have no problem with that.
- 42:56Speaker 10: Here's the dilemma, though, for the past three years, my
- 43:00Speaker 10: bud has captured a monster buck on his camera right
- 43:04Speaker 10: before the gun hunt.
- 43:05Speaker 6: However, he always shoots the first deer.
- 43:08Speaker 10: That comes in, never giving himself a real chance at
- 43:12Speaker 10: taking this big buck. So, in my opinion, it's a
- 43:16Speaker 10: miracle this buck has survived this long. So I asked
- 43:20Speaker 10: my friend if I could bait, set up my camera
- 43:23Speaker 10: and hunt his spot for the upcoming Muzzloder hunt in
- 43:26Speaker 10: December to try and bag this buck. His response was,
- 43:31Speaker 10: I think I'm going to go buy a bow, which
- 43:36Speaker 10: was essentially telling me no quite Frankly, I was shocked
- 43:40Speaker 10: by his answer, and now I'm unsure what to do.
- 43:44Speaker 10: Everyone I've talked to, including my wife, says that I
- 43:48Speaker 10: should just go after this buck. So I'm considering hunting
- 43:52Speaker 10: the spot without telling him. If I get the buck,
- 43:56Speaker 10: I'll say it wandered.
- 43:57Speaker 6: Into my area. He'd never know. Does this make me
- 44:01Speaker 6: a bad person? Is this bad?
- 44:03Speaker 2: Check?
- 44:04Speaker 1: It?
- 44:05Speaker 6: I what you know? So with the share public lan
- 44:20Speaker 6: spot as.
- 44:21Speaker 10: We know it, if your buddy cannot see think your
- 44:25Speaker 10: friendship's meant to be terminated at the thought of it.
- 44:30Speaker 6: Common sense, there's a lot.
- 44:32Speaker 10: Of it, although I hate to sibate if it's legal
- 44:36Speaker 10: in your stray.
- 44:38Speaker 6: So come December season not in time, grab your mouse
- 44:42Speaker 6: a load or you'll be fine.
- 44:44Speaker 10: Climb the tree and shoot straight and take your wife
- 44:47Speaker 10: on a day y.
- 45:03Speaker 6: All right?
- 45:04Speaker 10: So I don't think that's bad etiquette if you go
- 45:06Speaker 10: and hunt that spot. I also don't think it's bad
- 45:10Speaker 10: of your buddy to shoot any deer he wants. He
- 45:12Speaker 10: can do that, but I think it's pretty poor friendship
- 45:18Speaker 10: if you will if he doesn't, let you go and
- 45:21Speaker 10: try and get after this big buck and kill him,
- 45:24Speaker 10: because like if it were me, I'd be just as
- 45:27Speaker 10: excited if my buddy shot this big buck. It's a
- 45:31Speaker 10: team thing here, you know. So those are my thoughts.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Wow, well done, Chester, that was great the whistling bit,
- 45:40Speaker 1: isn't you additioned it to CHETNICKI do you guys have
- 45:43Speaker 1: anything to add to this listener's dilemma?
- 45:48Speaker 4: I mean, I'm with Chester. Just serenaded me to sleep
- 45:51Speaker 4: during that.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Yeah, i'd most importantly take your wife on a date
- 45:55Speaker 1: during hunting season. That that'll help every situation you're in.
- 46:01Speaker 6: All right?
- 46:01Speaker 1: Our next segment is let's talk about sex.
- 46:04Speaker 2: You don't want to talk about geese, want to talk
- 46:06Speaker 2: about Max? You wanna talk about justice and the.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Fulcan box and the clone wing for blackcap Chico tease.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I like to hear Steed say the word of conden
- 46:17Speaker 2: tea because occasionally you don't want to talk about sex.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, let's talk about sex. Is where krin enlightens
- 46:28Speaker 1: us on animal kingdom mating. This week she's here to
- 46:31Speaker 1: educate us on sea otters. Take it away, Karin, Well
- 46:34Speaker 1: here we go.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Well, SE's the mood, Phil.
- 46:42Speaker 1: What about the lighting out there?
- 46:45Speaker 9: Now?
- 46:45Speaker 1: We're ready?
- 46:45Speaker 3: Okay? Seatter.
- 46:48Speaker 5: Sex is aggressive, sometimes leads to death, and involves.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Here's a new word for everyone, Oh dook. Celegnia.
- 46:59Speaker 5: It is odoxelegnia, from the Greek words for with the
- 47:03Speaker 5: teeth and lust describes arousal through biting or being bitten.
- 47:10Speaker 5: In this case, the special spot is the nose, so
- 47:14Speaker 5: we'll call that fixation nasophilia.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Sea otters, the largest.
- 47:19Speaker 5: Member of the weasel family, breed throughout the year. Typically,
- 47:25Speaker 5: multiple females live within a male's territory, and when a
- 47:29Speaker 5: sexually mature female of about three to fifteen years of
- 47:33Speaker 5: age is receptive, the male will meet mate with her. However,
- 47:38Speaker 5: males are also known to force mating regardless of whether
- 47:42Speaker 5: a female is receptive. He approaches from behind, grabs her
- 47:48Speaker 5: with his paws, and clamps down hard on her.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Nose with his teeth.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Justike, Corey.
- 47:56Speaker 6: Wow.
- 47:58Speaker 5: Sometimes her head underwater. The bite can result in deep
- 48:03Speaker 5: cuts and torn away flesh. If her nose swells from
- 48:07Speaker 5: infection and prevents her from eating, she could starve to death. Oh,
- 48:13Speaker 5: my friend and fellow meat eater, colleague and queen seaotter
- 48:16Speaker 5: hunter Heather Duville of the Tlingtt tribe in southeast Alaska,
- 48:22Speaker 5: has harvested hundreds of seatters in her time. So she
- 48:25Speaker 5: told me that some of the male seatters she's harvested
- 48:29Speaker 5: present with broken penis bones, likely from fighting or from mating.
- 48:36Speaker 5: So take that like Spencer, you guys. Heathers also documented
- 48:46Speaker 5: male seatters with large pink scars on their noses or
- 48:50Speaker 5: half bitten off noses too. She told me that she
- 48:54Speaker 5: once saw a pair wrestling in the water and she
- 48:57Speaker 5: thinks they were trying to mate, but were also fight
- 49:01Speaker 5: and then she shot both of them oh. When she
- 49:04Speaker 5: brought them into the boat, she found that the male
- 49:08Speaker 5: had tons of bruises and bitemarks, whereas the female had none.
- 49:12Speaker 5: So she thinks that females will kick male seatter ass
- 49:16Speaker 5: just the same go gals.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Seatter.
- 49:21Speaker 5: Mating occurs a year round, and females can enter the
- 49:25Speaker 5: estress period multiple times in a year. Some female seaters
- 49:29Speaker 5: will pair bond with a male for a few days
- 49:32Speaker 5: and mate a number of times during this period. Others
- 49:36Speaker 5: will mate with a few different males during their estress cycle.
- 49:41Speaker 5: Copulation is aquatic and prolonged. The pair will spin underwater
- 49:47Speaker 5: for up to thirty minutes until mating is finished and
- 49:50Speaker 5: the male releases the female. As the affair tends to
- 49:55Speaker 5: be quite vigorous, females can drown or die from the
- 49:59Speaker 5: physical tr Shockingly, in some cases, males have been known
- 50:04Speaker 5: to continue holding on to a female long after she's expired,
- 50:09Speaker 5: meaning died, and Heather has also seen this behavior with
- 50:14Speaker 5: her own eyes. Station lasts between four to nine months
- 50:19Speaker 5: and mom gives birth to a single pup, which she
- 50:22Speaker 5: weans for about six months before it's on its own,
- 50:26Speaker 5: and pups can't dive underwater until they get their adult fur.
- 50:31Speaker 5: And here's a fun fact about seatter fur. By the way,
- 50:35Speaker 5: when Steve first heard this fact from Heather, he just
- 50:39Speaker 5: couldn't stop telling anyone and everyone as though he were
- 50:44Speaker 5: the first person to know this.
- 50:47Speaker 3: So here goes.
- 50:48Speaker 5: Seatter fur is the most dense of any mammal. And
- 50:53Speaker 5: there are more fur strands and hairs in a single
- 50:57Speaker 5: square inch of their skin than there are on an
- 51:01Speaker 5: entire German shepherd dog, about eight hundred and fifty thousand
- 51:06Speaker 5: to one million hairs.
- 51:08Speaker 3: And I am actually wearing.
- 51:10Speaker 5: A beautiful sea otter scarf that is made by Heather.
- 51:14Speaker 3: It is the warmest thing I've ever worn. It's so soft.
- 51:18Speaker 3: It's made from seatters.
- 51:19Speaker 5: She's harvested on her own, tanned stitch this together, and
- 51:25Speaker 5: she's got a little online shop called Coastal Fur and Leather.
- 51:29Speaker 3: And uh yeah, so from our sea art or Queen
- 51:33Speaker 3: love right here.
- 51:34Speaker 1: What occasion are you going to wear your sea otter
- 51:37Speaker 1: scarf for besides media? Radio?
- 51:39Speaker 5: Oh goodness, I wear this all the time just because
- 51:43Speaker 5: it's comfortable. I'll wear it at home if I'm cold,
- 51:46Speaker 5: I'll wear it out. I mean, it's I've never it's
- 51:49Speaker 5: at home.
- 51:49Speaker 1: That's lugasy.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Yeah, your scarf, absolutely, thanks Heather, love you.
- 51:55Speaker 1: The most amazing thing I heard in there was they
- 51:57Speaker 1: breed throughout the year. That is incredibly rare in the
- 52:00Speaker 1: animal kingdom. Most most animals have like a two week
- 52:04Speaker 1: period where they're doing their mating. Maybe it happens twice
- 52:07Speaker 1: a year. But to hear that sea otters were just
- 52:10Speaker 1: continuous breeders, that's pretty amazing.
- 52:12Speaker 3: I think.
- 52:13Speaker 5: I'm there's I think it also depends. I have to
- 52:17Speaker 5: read another note from Heather because she helped me with this,
- 52:21Speaker 5: that there's also Northern seatters and southernotters. They give birth
- 52:27Speaker 5: year round, she says, but the timing of births vary
- 52:30Speaker 5: by location. So I wonder if that's impacted by if
- 52:35Speaker 5: mating tends to happen more during a certain period of
- 52:39Speaker 5: time during the year, but it can happen.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Yeah, most most animals, they time they're breeding around when
- 52:46Speaker 1: they're going to drop their young to be most advantageous
- 52:50Speaker 1: for their young to survive. Right, So, like a fawn
- 52:52Speaker 1: popping out in late spring, that's the best time of
- 52:55Speaker 1: the year for a fawn to be on the ground.
- 52:57Speaker 1: What that would tell me about sea otters if they
- 52:59Speaker 1: just continuously. They just kick ass in any environment. It
- 53:03Speaker 1: doesn't matter if it's summer or winter. They just like
- 53:06Speaker 1: got good odds are raising that pop. That's cool. Thank
- 53:10Speaker 1: you for Krian for that. Uh you bet? Moving on.
- 53:13Speaker 1: This is our last interview of the day. Joining us
- 53:15Speaker 1: on the line next is butcher and a borgman. She's
- 53:18Speaker 1: here to talk to us about how to be a
- 53:20Speaker 1: good customer when taking meat to a processor. Anna, welcome
- 53:24Speaker 1: to the show.
- 53:25Speaker 9: Hi, how are you guys?
- 53:27Speaker 1: We're doing good. Anna, you went to culinary school. Does
- 53:30Speaker 1: everyone at culinary school learn how to butcher animals?
- 53:35Speaker 9: I think so. I think it's sort of like a
- 53:37Speaker 9: sort of like a survey class in college, like a
- 53:40Speaker 9: butchery one oh one, because every chef should know how
- 53:44Speaker 9: to break down, like, you know, a side of pork
- 53:46Speaker 9: or a chicken or whatever. So yeah, I'm pretty sure
- 53:48Speaker 9: everyone goes to culinary school takes a butchery class or
- 53:52Speaker 9: some sort of meat cutting class at some point.
- 53:54Speaker 1: Okay, and how many animals? How many animals in your
- 53:57Speaker 1: life have you butchered?
- 54:01Speaker 9: In the thousands for sure.
- 54:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 54:03Speaker 9: I was trying to do the math. I was like,
- 54:04Speaker 9: we would do six to seven beef in a day
- 54:07Speaker 9: or you know, fifteen to twenty lambs, and that would
- 54:11Speaker 9: just be day after day after day, and that's years
- 54:13Speaker 9: and years of doing that, So definitely in the thousands.
- 54:16Speaker 9: And then like when I started doing slaughter, I've skinned
- 54:19Speaker 9: and gutted thousands of animals, So yeah, it's up there.
- 54:22Speaker 1: And of those thousands of animals, wild then domestic that
- 54:26Speaker 1: you've butchered, which is the best and the worst to
- 54:29Speaker 1: work with.
- 54:31Speaker 9: The bigger the better, I think, So like I've got
- 54:34Speaker 9: a bison that I have to finish cutting today, and
- 54:36Speaker 9: that's really fun. Smaller animals, you know, I like doing
- 54:41Speaker 9: slaughter with lambs, and it's super easy to cut deer,
- 54:46Speaker 9: but just the smaller they are, the harder it is
- 54:48Speaker 9: to really get anything substantial off of that. And uh,
- 54:52Speaker 9: it's just it's kind of tedious. So you know, you're
- 54:54Speaker 9: cutting like backstrap steaks and they're teeny teeny tiny, whereas
- 54:57Speaker 9: when you cut an alk or a bison or something,
- 55:00Speaker 9: it looks like a steak.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I got some general butchery questions for you, and
- 55:05Speaker 1: then we're going to talk about how to be a
- 55:06Speaker 1: good customer at the processor, vacuum seal or paper.
- 55:10Speaker 9: Wrap, paper rapp. I'd say paper wrap. It's I didn't
- 55:15Speaker 9: used to think that. I used to think back seal,
- 55:17Speaker 9: but after you know, working at a shop where we
- 55:20Speaker 9: really only did back seal, it kind of became more
- 55:22Speaker 9: of a pain. It's just it seems easy when you
- 55:26Speaker 9: start doing it, and then you know, you go through
- 55:28Speaker 9: your freezer and you've got a bunch of broken seals
- 55:30Speaker 9: and a bunch of freezer burned meat. So I like
- 55:33Speaker 9: the paper app The only downside is that you can't
- 55:35Speaker 9: see what's in there. I try to be really specific
- 55:38Speaker 9: about labeling, like exactly how many steaks are in there
- 55:41Speaker 9: or whatever it is, so it's no guessing. But payper app,
- 55:45Speaker 9: I think, just holds up better in the freezer.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Okay, good to know that's going to change when I
- 55:49Speaker 1: do at home. Can you tell when a buck or
- 55:52Speaker 1: a bowl has been running?
- 55:56Speaker 9: You know? Kind of? But it seems pretty rare to me,
- 55:59Speaker 9: and I feel feel like, from what I've heard from people,
- 56:03Speaker 9: I should notice it more. But really, if anything, it
- 56:06Speaker 9: just smells maybe a little bit more like an animal,
- 56:09Speaker 9: you know. But I have found that hanging stuff. We
- 56:12Speaker 9: have a cooler, which is really fun because we get
- 56:15Speaker 9: to hang stuff instead of just cutting it. Immediately and
- 56:17Speaker 9: kind of see how that changes the meat quality and
- 56:20Speaker 9: the taste of stuff. And I think if you notice
- 56:23Speaker 9: anything in a ruddy buck or bowl, if you can
- 56:26Speaker 9: hang it for a couple of days, that seems to
- 56:28Speaker 9: mellow it out a little bit. But I don't ever
- 56:30Speaker 9: notice anything too crazy.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Can you explain what a dark cutter is? And have
- 56:35Speaker 1: you ever seen a dark cutter in Big Game?
- 56:41Speaker 9: I tend to think that game is going to be
- 56:44Speaker 9: a dark cutter already. It's going to lean that way anyway,
- 56:48Speaker 9: because it's already in a pretty high stress environment, whereas
- 56:51Speaker 9: like a beef has a pretty chill life for the
- 56:54Speaker 9: most part, right and the only time it might be
- 56:56Speaker 9: really stressed out is potentially right before slaughter. Hopefully not,
- 57:00Speaker 9: but that can happen. And basically a dark cutter is
- 57:04Speaker 9: just it's it happens with lactic acid production right before
- 57:10Speaker 9: the animal dies, and so that can mean either right
- 57:14Speaker 9: when it's killed or right before it if it's running
- 57:16Speaker 9: or it gets hit and it ends up running right
- 57:18Speaker 9: before it dies, the lactic acid will use itself up
- 57:22Speaker 9: really fast, and so then when it's dead, there isn't
- 57:24Speaker 9: enough lactic acid to actually break the meat. Down the
- 57:27Speaker 9: way you'd want it to, and that's how you'll end
- 57:29Speaker 9: up with a dark cutter. But I think with game
- 57:32Speaker 9: they're pretty active and high stress or at least high
- 57:35Speaker 9: strung anyway, so it's pretty rare that I notice anything
- 57:39Speaker 9: like really really obvious.
- 57:41Speaker 1: I like that perspective. That's a good way to think
- 57:43Speaker 1: about dealing with antelope and elk and deer. What are
- 57:47Speaker 1: some strange things that you've recovered in an animal's meat
- 57:50Speaker 1: or organs.
- 57:53Speaker 9: I've seen some. I did an elk that was real mangy,
- 57:57Speaker 9: and the lymph nodes should be about the size of
- 58:00Speaker 9: like a dime or a quarter, and these things were
- 58:02Speaker 9: about the size of my hand, Like they were huge. Yeah,
- 58:06Speaker 9: and it, I mean the meat was fine. It was,
- 58:10Speaker 9: you know, a little bit tough, but I think it
- 58:12Speaker 9: ate fine. It was really We did it into burger
- 58:14Speaker 9: just to be sure. But I also, if you look
- 58:17Speaker 9: at Steve's Instagram, I texted him a picture of a
- 58:19Speaker 9: thing I found in I think it was like the
- 58:22Speaker 9: front shoulder of a deer that we were cutting for someone,
- 58:25Speaker 9: And it's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. It was
- 58:27Speaker 9: this little tumor cyst looking thing that had a bunch
- 58:30Speaker 9: of little like yellow balls in it. It was bizarre,
- 58:34Speaker 9: and I know I was trying to remember today what
- 58:38Speaker 9: he decided it was. I know he texted it to
- 58:40Speaker 9: some people like helfle Finger and whatnot. But it ended
- 58:42Speaker 9: up we think it's like a a keratin cyst sort of,
- 58:46Speaker 9: so it looked like it had hair in it, And yeah,
- 58:49Speaker 9: it was weird. It didn't smell like anything. I smelled
- 58:52Speaker 9: it right when I found it, because I've seen plenty
- 58:55Speaker 9: of cysts and abscesses and everything, and I'd never seen
- 58:57Speaker 9: anything like that, So it seems like it was pretty harmless.
- 59:00Speaker 9: But it was a weird thing to pull out that
- 59:02Speaker 9: meat for sure.
- 59:03Speaker 5: Hey Anna Carr in here, I look forward to meeting
- 59:07Speaker 5: you in person one day soon it'll happen. Just wondering
- 59:12Speaker 5: about whether anyone asks for a different kind of cut,
- 59:18Speaker 5: like different kinds of cuts, if they're angling to make
- 59:23Speaker 5: like Eastern cuisine, because I was talking to my friend,
- 59:26Speaker 5: a local chef in town, Linda Huang, who has Hummingbird's
- 59:31Speaker 5: Kitchen here, and she was explaining to me how Chinese.
- 59:35Speaker 3: Butchers will cut pork belly.
- 59:37Speaker 5: Kind of from the top of the back down to
- 59:41Speaker 5: the belly and whereas here she's run into a lot
- 59:44Speaker 5: of people who will butcher kind of from the head
- 59:48Speaker 5: end of the animal to the tail end of the animal.
- 59:52Speaker 5: Just wondering if if there's if you do things differently,
- 59:56Speaker 5: if you understand, you know, what's behind that.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: I think I'm that's something that's really interesting to me
- 1:00:05Speaker 9: that I don't know a ton about and I'd love
- 1:00:07Speaker 9: to learn more about it. But I think of butchering
- 1:00:10Speaker 9: as especially in different areas of the world. It basically
- 1:00:13Speaker 9: you butcher the way you're going to end up cooking something, right,
- 1:00:16Speaker 9: So it's like if you follow the cuisine, you can
- 1:00:19Speaker 9: kind of trace backwards to how they cut the animal.
- 1:00:24Speaker 9: So it's like, you know, they're not in Japan or
- 1:00:28Speaker 9: China or any you know, anywhere, Thailand, whatever. It's like
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: they're not necessarily eating porterhouse steaks. That's a pretty America
- 1:00:35Speaker 9: or British, right, you know, cut of meat. And I
- 1:00:39Speaker 9: try to I try to explain this to people when
- 1:00:41Speaker 9: I'm teaching butchery, because people don't want to mess up
- 1:00:45Speaker 9: their animal. But unless you're you know, mistreating the meat
- 1:00:48Speaker 9: and it's spoiling or it's dirty, there's really no way
- 1:00:51Speaker 9: to totally screw it up. You're going to end up
- 1:00:53Speaker 9: with something that you can cook in some way. And
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: maybe that is more of a you know, Asian and
- 1:01:00Speaker 9: fire dish or South American or African or something. But yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 9: that's really really interesting to me, and I'd like to
- 1:01:07Speaker 9: learn more about that because it just it gives you
- 1:01:10Speaker 9: more freedom in terms of butchering. But it's definitely the
- 1:01:12Speaker 9: butchering practices are driven by the cuisine of the area.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: Totally makes sense.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: And every hunter is terrified that when they take meat
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: to a processor, it's just going to get thrown into
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: a big pile and they're not actually going to get
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: their own deer back. Is that a justified fear.
- 1:01:31Speaker 9: To an extent. I don't want to throw any other
- 1:01:33Speaker 9: processes under the bus, and I don't know, you know,
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: I've only been to a few of them to see
- 1:01:38Speaker 9: what they do. But basically, logistically, I think as far
- 1:01:43Speaker 9: as grind goes, that would be the place where you
- 1:01:46Speaker 9: might not get your specific meatback because a lot of
- 1:01:49Speaker 9: places they're using grinders that are fifty pound grinders, and
- 1:01:53Speaker 9: so to utilize that grinder and they're huge industrial stuffer,
- 1:01:56Speaker 9: they need a lot of meat in there, and you're
- 1:01:58Speaker 9: not necessarily going to get fifty pounds of grind off
- 1:02:01Speaker 9: your deer, right, so it only makes sense for them
- 1:02:04Speaker 9: to put a few animals in there as far as
- 1:02:06Speaker 9: like steaks and other cuts. I would assume that you're
- 1:02:10Speaker 9: getting it back. That's not hard to do. You know.
- 1:02:13Speaker 9: People are just even in a high production facility, they're
- 1:02:16Speaker 9: going through animal by animal, and I would assume that,
- 1:02:18Speaker 9: just like we did at the shot that I first
- 1:02:20Speaker 9: worked at, you put it in a lug, it's labeled
- 1:02:22Speaker 9: with a name, and it goes straight back to the person.
- 1:02:25Speaker 9: The only I mean, really, I think the only reason
- 1:02:27Speaker 9: that people potentially don't get stuff back is really just
- 1:02:29Speaker 9: a matter of necessity for grinding at scale. But we
- 1:02:34Speaker 9: have really small equipment, so ours is like our batches.
- 1:02:37Speaker 9: The smallest we'll do is like fifteen pounds, and we
- 1:02:40Speaker 9: can do really specific small batched stuff for flavors like
- 1:02:43Speaker 9: sausages and whatnot. But yeah, I can see how people
- 1:02:47Speaker 9: you just got to get it all done and you
- 1:02:48Speaker 9: have a huge grinder and you can't put ten pounds
- 1:02:50Speaker 9: of meat in there.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: So okay, we want to know how we can be
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: a better customer when we bring meat to a processor
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: to the butcher, but first tell us what are some
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: things that bad customers do.
- 1:03:04Speaker 9: I'd say my least favorite thing is people who don't
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: have a plan for what they're gonna do with their animal.
- 1:03:09Speaker 9: And I mean, like, we get calls all the time
- 1:03:12Speaker 9: day of and like, I just shot, you know whatever,
- 1:03:14Speaker 9: And that's fine. I'm totally fine with that. It's when
- 1:03:17Speaker 9: it's been four or five days, especially during like archery season,
- 1:03:21Speaker 9: and I get calls from people and they're like, I
- 1:03:24Speaker 9: have this antelope dough. You know, it's in the back
- 1:03:26Speaker 9: of my truck and it's been ninety degrees for five days,
- 1:03:28Speaker 9: and that like I'm tempted to say no, but I
- 1:03:32Speaker 9: also don't want that animal to go to waste. But man,
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: that stuff is it's frustrating because yeah, it's just you're
- 1:03:38Speaker 9: not going to get the highest quality meat and it's
- 1:03:41Speaker 9: a bummer. But besides that, dirty animals, you know, tendons
- 1:03:46Speaker 9: cut on the back legs. That kind of drives Men's
- 1:03:48Speaker 9: just for my ease of butchering, and it's nice when
- 1:03:51Speaker 9: I can hang it out a hook and cut it
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: off there or off the rail instead of having to
- 1:03:55Speaker 9: do it on a table. And my biggest pet peeve,
- 1:03:58Speaker 9: i'd say, is like any tiny little scraps of meat
- 1:04:01Speaker 9: in game bags. So I'll dump out the game bag
- 1:04:04Speaker 9: and it's just like a disaster of like quarter and
- 1:04:08Speaker 9: golf ball sized pieces of meat that are also covered
- 1:04:10Speaker 9: in dirt. And there's really not a lot I can
- 1:04:12Speaker 9: do with that.
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: And you know, you got it.
- 1:04:16Speaker 9: You're like, why would you put that in a game bag?
- 1:04:18Speaker 9: But I don't know. I get you know, you want
- 1:04:20Speaker 9: to get it all out of there. But you know,
- 1:04:22Speaker 9: think about yourself too, even if you're the one that's
- 1:04:24Speaker 9: going to cut it, think ahead a little bit and think,
- 1:04:27Speaker 9: am I going to be able to do anything with this?
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: You know?
- 1:04:29Speaker 9: Or should I just you can keep it and give
- 1:04:31Speaker 9: it to your dogs, I guess.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: But yeah, the easier we can make your job, the
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: better product we're going to get back each time. I imagine,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: all right, what are some things that good customers do?
- 1:04:42Speaker 9: Good customers keep things clean? And you know, I know,
- 1:04:46Speaker 9: stuff happens and you drop it or there's just there's
- 1:04:50Speaker 9: only so much you can do. And I'm I'm very
- 1:04:52Speaker 9: aware of that, but I've seen some crazy stuff. So
- 1:04:55Speaker 9: keeping things as clean as you can cutting off those
- 1:04:58Speaker 9: back legs. If you're gonna put it in a game bag,
- 1:05:01Speaker 9: get those back legs off. There is a joint in there.
- 1:05:03Speaker 9: I know it's kind of hard to find sometimes, but
- 1:05:05Speaker 9: just so you're not shoving a hoof with hide on
- 1:05:07Speaker 9: it in a game bag with meat that you tried
- 1:05:09Speaker 9: to keep clean, because that kind of defeats the point sometimes.
- 1:05:14Speaker 9: And I'd say just having a plan, you know, like
- 1:05:16Speaker 9: either reaching out to someone ahead of time, whether it's
- 1:05:19Speaker 9: me or someone else that's going to process it for you,
- 1:05:21Speaker 9: or just having a plan for how to deal with it,
- 1:05:23Speaker 9: because you know, by the time that animal is dead,
- 1:05:26Speaker 9: you only have so much time to deal with it
- 1:05:28Speaker 9: and to be respectful to the animal and to get
- 1:05:31Speaker 9: a bunch of really good meat for your family.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: So all good notes, All right, Anna, tell us about
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: your new endeavor, chaos farms.
- 1:05:39Speaker 9: Chaos farms, Well, it started as a joke on my
- 1:05:42Speaker 9: first day, was my boyfriend. We went to the hof
- 1:05:45Speaker 9: Brow and had a couple of cold smokes and came
- 1:05:47Speaker 9: up with chaos farms. And now it's the thing. So
- 1:05:49Speaker 9: we have We've got goats, weed eating goats that eventually
- 1:05:54Speaker 9: they're so cute. I'm I love these boys. We're going
- 1:05:58Speaker 9: to rent them out for we can. That's kind of
- 1:06:00Speaker 9: why we got them to see if they would eat
- 1:06:02Speaker 9: the invasive weeds around here. Yeah, and they do a
- 1:06:05Speaker 9: great job, So hopefully get more of those and kind
- 1:06:08Speaker 9: of do some fire suppression work around here. And then
- 1:06:12Speaker 9: we've got a ton of chickens. We sell eggs, and
- 1:06:16Speaker 9: then we're doing game processing and mobile slaughter, and eventually
- 1:06:20Speaker 9: we're gonna have a shot built so we can do
- 1:06:23Speaker 9: custom exemp processing also for livestock.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: So it's a great name and a great logo. And
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: I took my elk to Anna this year and she
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: did a phenomenal job. I'm thrilled with what I got back,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: and in fact, we ate some steaks last night. All right, Anna, Well,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: thank you for making us better customers at the Butcher,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: and thank you for joining us.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: Thanks Anna, thanks for having me.
- 1:06:44Speaker 9: Bye, guys, Bye.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: All right. That brings us to the end of this
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: week's show. Phil, let's get some final listener feedback.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Yeah, a quick comment we had to comment from someone
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: during the sex segment saying, my best friend's wife is
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: a world class marine biologist. She wrote an Oprah Book
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: Club listed book called Sex in the Sea are intimate
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: connection with kinky crustaceans, sex changing fish, romantic lobsters. Another
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: salty erotica of the deep.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: So yeah, it's a fantastic title.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Okay, there it is.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: So in case you guys want some more of what
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Kren dished out today, Sex.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: In the Sea very fitting cover for that book. Thank
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: you for that, Thank you that bit of info.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Yeah, Frederick says we need to start having more talks
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: about what the crew has cooked recently. We haven't done
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: a metior menu in a while, but I thought the
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: Q and A would be a good time if you
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: guys want to share anything fun or interesting.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: Man, right now, I'm solo dadding. So it's burgers, tacos,
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: uh huh, and a couple frozen pizzas here and there.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean just the classics.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Last night we had a mule deer tacos night before
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: Elk Burger's. So I haven't really tested my culinary expertise
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: in a while, which is sad. But so I'm gonna
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: have to break out some fine cuts. I've got a
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: lot of my spring black Bear that I kick last
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: year that I still need to eat before this spring
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: season starts, so I'm excited for that.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Coran, anything exciting coming out of your kitchen.
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: I am actually fixing to make today for dinner elk shank,
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: which I actually have off the bone and pork belly.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: I was going to do like a Chinese five spice
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: breaks in a pressure cooker for a while. So it's
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, five spice.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: And some sugar and yeah over rice. O ye.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: Last night I made chiso veggie soup. It's very excited
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: about that recipe. Tomorrow night I'm making a Cajun pasta
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: that's using some venison sausage, and then Saturday making asbuco.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so with your elk leg with my elk
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: shanks that Anna was cut up for me, the very exciting.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I love how you plan daily.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: I do well. I want to make like one grocery
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: run a week. Yeah, I want to make one grocery
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: run a week. And to do that, I need to
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: think about what I'm cooking each night. So I usually
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: said out, Okay, these are the seven things that we're
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: eating this week.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: Did Anna cut the shanks into discs?
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: She did? Oh yeah, it's yeah, super convenient.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that'll be great.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: But what else you got?
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Uh, let's see what does the crew do? John asking
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: about fishing on causeways that cross state borders. You guys ever.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Run into this before causeway? What's a causeway? Is that
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: like a bridge?
- 1:09:34Speaker 9: No?
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I think it's a.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I don't know what a causeway is, John, I'm sorry,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I'm not of not of a lot of help.
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: There is a track road or railway on the upper
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: point of here. Just take take a pic okay that picure?
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's like it's it's like sort of a
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: levy sort of thing. What do we do about fishing
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: one that crosses state borders? I think the most important thing, John,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: is just knowing the regulations. A lot of states will
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: have some sort of a agreement about like you can
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: fish on this part of this stream despite it like
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: maybe crossing into this other state. So what do we
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: do about fishing the causeways that? I just think, know
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: your regulations and make sure you're legal, and if you
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: need to have a specific license license for a specific state,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: make sure you got that. Because game Morgans know those
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: sort of gray areas where people may be breaking a law,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: not that they're out there like trying to trap you.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: But you'll see more folks in those areas get tickets
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: than than other sorts of spots.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Yeah, certainly know where you are on X whatever. Yes,
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: I found myself fishing into Canada on accident.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't think about it, international traveler. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: Fished my way up this creek and then realize I'm
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: probably in Canada. Yeah, fish back, looked at the map.
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: Turned out Yeah, it was like half a mile.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: Lucky to our friends of board patrolled, they call you, they.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Call them green pants up there, something like that. You're
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: lucky the green pants didn't come you down.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Oh no, it's cool.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Now fall What else you got?
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: I'll do one more? What is the crew's favorite content
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: to film? I guess this would mostly be a Spencer
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: and Corey question, But Kriin, you've been on a few shoots.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Maybe you could tell over what I've made the last
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: few years. But a lot of games. I love Meat
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Eater Trivia, I love the meat Pole thing, the price
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: is right thing that was new today. I just love
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: creating games like that. I hope that for our listeners
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: or viewers that I'm doing something that's interesting to you.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: As well as informative. So I just want to be
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: entertaining and hope that you learn something along the way.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: That's my favorite content.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I've been on a few episodes with
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: Steve and I don't know, just the rawness and the
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: realness of being out in the woods filming a hunt
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: that we do the way we do it.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: It's good.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: It's a big team effort, obviously, but it's always amazing
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: how it turns out in the end. So our hats
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: off to our post production team before and after putting
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: it out there for everybody to watch.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: It's a lot of fun to be a part of KRINN.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: What are your favorite podcasts to record?
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: I mean, I think I have the most fun when
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: we go out into the field and we try to
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: see what we can film outside. We've done a couple
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: of outside outdoor podcast episodes, so that that's been the
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: most fun. You know, in an environment you don't really control,
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: so you're not inside because most of the time we
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: are inside in an environment we can control.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: So it's fun for me to do something a little
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: different every now and then.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Fail anything else.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: I have a sharpie's asking, Phil, can you cook? The
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: answer is a sort of kind of I mean honestly,
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: like in Meat Eater Trivia, I know most of the
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: cooking questions, like even even some that like Brody and you,
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: Honist and Steve just just can't think of we.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Worked in a kitchen.
- 1:12:44Speaker 7: I did.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I've waited tables, I've worked in a kitchen, and
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: and you know, I try to. I try to pull
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: my weight around the house. I make I make dinner
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: every every every now and then. But you know, I
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: don't want to juice myself up too much in case
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: I actually do play trivia someday and I just tank
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: my cooking questions. So the answer officially is not really
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: good answer. Thanks. Yeah, I think that'll do it. Spencer.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: All right, Thank you Phil, Thank you chat. We'll see
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: everyone back here in one week. Thanks for watching this
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: from listen
