- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, hello, hello and welcome to another edition of the nine or noise podcast part of the fancited podcast network.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: My name is Robert Morrison, a contributor at nine or noise.com and here with me, once again, as always.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Fellow contributor, Mr. Octavio's divadula, Oksha's, we didn't do a preview episode.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: So the last time we talked, we were in a good spirits, where it's slightly less so now, but how are you?
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing fine, Robert.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: As fine as one can be.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I mean, I think we didn't preview this game, but we did have a get the sense of how it was going to go in one, I think the way we thought it would.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: And that's no fun because we've been really fun if it went a different way.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, continues to be the reality of this season for the 49ers, I thought we'll get into it, like all things considered the
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: The parts of the team that have to like sort of carry this team, I thought did a good job, right?
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Or did a good enough job.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm still not a good enough job.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: And add a good job.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: The parts of the teams that like we were worried about.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: We were right to be worried about.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, yes, I guess for being right.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good summary.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: And until next time, I'm just kidding.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we were just talking before we started the recording that because we didn't get to the preview episode, but it felt like a lot of the things that we were worried about with the first Rams game when coming off the lofts, Jacksonville, and no
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: The SRAM team is pretty good and they just lost Nick Bosa and Yadiyada and we were like, oh, how can they possibly stand up against this vented ram's team and then they, you know, they beat them that time, but it just kind of felt like in the short version of it is that everything that we said was probably going to happen in that first matchup that didn't ended up happening in the second game, which is just kind of funny like a couple of weeks later.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: all the problems that we said we're going to be there are like worse now because the team has lost a few more players but yeah this was I think this was the outcome that we anticipated in that week four matchup or whatever it was week five and then it just just waited a few weeks to happen as really would so you know if you needed a preview for this game you just go listen to the preview for the the first one and that would have been about the same and the outcome significantly worse
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think, um, it like, and we'll get into it.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the nine or six of five enough jobs for staying on pace.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: But like,
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: they just couldn't get a stop when they needed one, right?
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly what we thought the issue would be, right?
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: Is that with this team be able to without Nick Bosa, without Fred Warner, now you add it without Michael Williams without like, gosh, who else isn't even playing?
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I mean, Alfred Collins wasn't out there.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: He was a big part of the first game, like lots of things like that.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: to just with all these bodies missing, it was even more likely that they couldn't get a stop.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: And then there you go.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, that's off of everything else.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: They dug themselves into a 21.0 hole.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: They ended up losing by 16.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I dig yourself into a 21.0 hole, which played, you know, change the game altogether.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you look back at the last game, they the offense.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: very similar like offensive game to the to the first ram's game from the 49ers perspective.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the difference was they kind of jumped out to a lead and then their defense was able to kind of hold well enough and everything was reversed in this game and then the ram's just like
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: kept pouring it on and it never stopped.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: 42-26 by the way final score in case you missed it.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a lot of points.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think I saw somewhere this is like the tide for the second or third most points of the rams have ever scored against the 49ers, which is crazy.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think 45 was the most.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a lot.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: it like all the things that I think we were saying like are the issues with having like this young defense that stars like will they be able to get stops while they be able to do I think they all came to ahead against the Rams right that that is exactly as bad as this defense can look given the fact that like
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: they don't have the horses, they usually have.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then look, Ra Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, I'm going to tell you, look, pretty bad.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's bad, that's bad.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the other side of that is that this is one of the best offences in the NFL.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: So you kind of expected that against the Giants last week, one of the worst offences in the NFL or near the bottom, it looks a lot better.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I think
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: that's that's those are difficult that mistests right because it's like one of the best one of the worst like in back-to-back weeks and you're kind of like which version of this defense is really it's probably somewhere in the middle right like they're probably not as bad as this ram's offense made them look they're probably not as good as the giant's defense allowed them to look more than likely they're more not the middle of the pack but probably like the bottom
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: you know the the top part of the bottom if you will right like are they a bottom 10 or 10 or 12 unit as constructed right now probably like are they're not the best they're not the worst I think that's probably would be the the place that I would fall on this this group at this point I mean just off the sheer number
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: healthy players.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's that sounds about right to me.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's it's it's a shame.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean like there've been these like success stories that have popped up, like they didn't be through for example.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that like because of that and because of Robert Sol's coaching, you kind of expect them to be better than where they're at, but like if you're surely look at who's like on the field.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: That sounds pretty right to me, like just based off the talent on
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: Seems like, you know, bottom 10, but probably 10th.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like the 20, 20, 20, 20, 22, something in that range.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: That sounds about right, just based off the talent they have right now.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, it showed it.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I think because what it really works, they can sort of like.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: pick it up per se and really sort of like have those stellar games it makes it harder to sort of like watch a game like this and recognize this is probably where they're at talent that was yeah and you know through no fault of their own other than the injury situation speaking
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: No new injuries to speak of coming out of this game.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what kind of nonsense is this?
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: So that I didn't even know this was legal.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Did you?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking that they had to report injuries.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, well, at the end of the game.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: As it turns out.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like we told me that five weeks ago and I've been like, oh my gosh, but I'm too broken now, right?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I know.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just, I'm just thinking about all the players who did play because they're injured.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: So that'd be great team probably.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: The injured reserve group.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: Or just the guys who haven't played in a month and a half.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I guess that's, that's my silver lining.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Is that nobody else got hurt?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, pretty good silver lining.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not bad, it's not bad.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Almost the one we got last week against the Giants, you know, until the last four minutes of the game, that was unfortunate.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: So at least they got out of that, particularly unscathed.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: But the, the, the weird part is the rollercoaster continues.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think we talked about this, the sort of win-loss win-loss win-loss, since the three and a start they are.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: exactly a 500 team.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so that gets you to where they are.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Which, again, under the circumstances and all the all the injuries and yateata, six and four, still not a particularly bad place to be, they are right outside of the playoff spots as it currently stands.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Um, in the eight to seed, they're literally right behind the Packers, uh, who are the seventh seed, uh, after they're, uh, what, what's an, what's an, what's an adjective to describe that football game from last night.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I think, uh, no adjective.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: They played a football game.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: They did, and sort of,
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: football was played in Green Bay theoretically they managed to score a touchdown just one now it's not like the Eagles were were blowing things away they however the number one seed in the NFC going into this coming out of this week uh yeah what a weird the NFC's weird like uh there's
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: the eagles are on top, and then it's the seahawks, I think, are the number two seed.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: And then I don't recall off top of my head at the three seed is another ram, so the five seed, which is hilarious.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: But that's by the constitution of the fact that the division winners have to be one through four.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's Tampa who's the three.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I could I could look this up but I like it's more fun to do it off top man.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: I know the bears and the packers are set six and seven.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: The bears jump the packers by the virtue of their winning and the packers losing.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Trying to think who the other team would be.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: What's the, what's the division I'm thinking, I'm missing.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: I got the, oh, the sound.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, that's the box.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's the box, the north, the north, the east.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: So Eagle, C-hawks, I think it's C-hawks one right now.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: Eagles two.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's back, it's the other way around.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: The Eagle, Eagle, C-hawks two, Tampa three, and then I guess Detroit four, right?
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Is the is the trying first?
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: I guess that's right.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's not the Vikings.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I know.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I can say that's what it seems.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so yeah, that must be right.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and then yeah, all I know is that the the attackers and the, uh,
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: in the bears are definitely at the bottom of that list.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, it's not, it's definitely not outside of the realm of possibility of the 49ers get in.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: They've got to take care of their own business.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, the lines are three the buck and ears are four backwards.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, it's Eagle Seahawks' lines, bucks, Rams, bears, packers.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: With the nine are sitting just behind the packers.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think the tie is the difference right now, essentially, right behind the 49ers of the Panthers and the Vikings.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, there you go.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't know what else to make of this.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: No injuries, and that's all good.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: That Rams game is probably the toughest task the 49ers are going to face for a while.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Not terribly daunting.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: There's some daunting elements of it in that they have some pieces of it.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: They have the cardinals and the Panthers who I already mentioned are sitting right behind the 49ers in 9th place in the NFC.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: Then it's Cleveland.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: Then the buy.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Then Tennessee I believe.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: So roughly a month worth of games where you got to feel like they're going to be favored in all those games.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, we know which one of those four were looking at and going like, yeah, they're going to be favored in that for sure, because they never had problems with that team.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll get to that when we get to it.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, again, like there's six and four.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're about to do one as many games as they won last year.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: They have a good run of games.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: This is the like the place where the the last place schedule like really locks in is this string of next four games.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: And if they want to ultimately, if they want to be a playoff team, if it's just like the seven seed, then this to me feels like, because the last three games are, I think it's Colts Bears, Seahawk to the last three in that order.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: uh, that's going to be a tougher task.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: And so like, if they want to get into the playoffs, I think they need to have 10 wins, 9 or 10 wins by the time they get to that last stretch of of games, if they want to even be in the conversation, if they lose, if they go 500 over the course of these next four games, it's, it's over.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they don't, they're, they're probably not in the position to do that, but that's kind of where I'm thinking.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I totally agree.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think NFL has had a lot of parody some ways.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think the NFC has really shown that.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: So it has a lot of teams clumped with very similar records.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that unfortunately means like the weed is going to separate from the shaft so to speak and you're going to get sort of I think more normal looking records by the time to season is over, but it means right now like six and four is it's not bad at all, but out of but being out of the playoffs and 13 year on division at six and four is like that's a bit crazy that's a testament to the way that the NFC West has been in the NFC has been.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: It does mean that their schedule has turned out to be a think a bit more competitive than we thought it would be, right, started the year.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's the nature of these like last place schedules that you don't actually know that their last place until.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: You can tell you see if those other teams are still as placed teams are not exactly exactly, but like I'm with you a hundred percent.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're going to need some like 11 to 11 wins to make the playoffs, which means that you got to like bank or you either got to bank them now like you said or you got to go on like a generational heater at the end there can some like some pretty good football teams.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so I wrote something today that should be up on the site.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: You probably can find it right now.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: If not, it should be up before you're listening to this at some point.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: Um, about the three most important games left on their schedule.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I will not give away the entirety of it, but, um, most, there's, uh, I will say that that those last two games are are, are key, like in that, in that, uh,
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: that view point, especially the bears game because if you think about the fact that it looks like between the bears, the foreign owners and the packers, like one of those three teams feels like the most likely, like last team in, if you'll borrow the vernacular from the NCAA tournament kind of thing.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, one of those other teams below them could certainly go on a heater as you're talking about and work their way in, but it feels like that.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's the bottom of the NFC for my vantage point and the team that wins the most games out of that group is gonna get the job done.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: And right now it's six games, six wins for the bears, five wins for the Packers, and six wins for the 49ers.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: So that kind of feels like that's where that's gonna be.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I totally agree.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: They are going to have effectively play in games.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think very, very soon at the end of that schedule.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: Not to like, not to potentially steal away from your article, which everyone should go read.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: But like, yeah, it's going to be tight.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: I totally agree with you.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the tightness is good for this team because of all the young players, we're going to get a chance to sort of be forced to be in dislike, high pressure environment.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: they might like if they don't make the playoffs they're going to be in like a very mushy middle which is very useful for this team right so it is pretty important that they make the playoffs because then like you always you have a chance right the second year in the playoffs you have a chance right chances important and good
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the up still like the benefit you would get from missing the playoff is not really all that high because like Yeah, that extra that extra slot in the drafts or whatever it will end up being.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's not valuable.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're like they're like a nine to even maybe 10 when team not in the playoffs.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're not getting some like top 10 pick with it.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: you're not getting that like the like oh non playoff team gets a chance to really get their next superstar.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's not really going to happen for him.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: So if that's the case, then like make the play us.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not as well, because what's the difference between, like the, the 21st pick and the 27th pick, like, really negligible, right?
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Generally speaking, and the like games you play, the experience your young players will get, right?
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: And the opportunity, right?
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: We're both a little, I think, like, skeptical about this team's ultimate ceiling given the entries, but, you know, worst teams of one
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: the way the way winning a Super Bowl works and Robert is my favorite revolutionary.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: So let me know if I this is a little hold on to something good.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: You the only way to win the super well 100% of all Super Bowl winners made the playoffs.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's that is analysis right there folks that you're everybody right that down.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to 100% got it.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's so really, really dumb, super obvious, but it's worth making the point, right?
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: And to play off the playoffs or weird, right?
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Things can happen, but you have to get into the dance to begin with.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that should be the real sort of push for this team.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a good game for that, but it's always a chance.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and ultimately like you said, even if they play a, if they get into the playoffs and they play one game because, you know, if they're the seven seed, then they have to travel to, at this point, it would be Seattle, but it could be like Detroit or Tampa or Philadelphia, depending on how things shake up at the top, or could be the Rams, you know, like there's probably like a handful of teams there that it could, that could be that two seed, you're going to go somewhere and you're going to play a playoff game.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe you lose it, but at least now you're like, okay, now these guys have playoff experience and we're going to be the better for it next year.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm with you on that.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: So one of their bit of kind of newsy stuff and I use that word newsy as if to reflect its lack of seriousness because I just don't know.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: is once again where it's the beginning of the week and we're getting me all right Brock Perti, Ricky Pierce All, maybe.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, couch in and said that they're hoping that Pierce All will return to practice this week.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: same kind of thing with Piers with Perti that they're just kind of, I mean, he's been practicing the whole time in a limited, for the most part, for a limited, from a limited perspective.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, like, that's one of those weird things because it's just like, yeah, you want to make the playoffs and the best way to make the playoffs is to have your best players on the field,
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also just like this has been going on a long time and I'm just I'm I'm I'm a at this point.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in believe it.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it when I see it mode with those two guys.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: Breakfast or anything is weird and I'm over it.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, frankly, I look.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Jones has played well.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, quite well, or would say, to the point where I like,
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: look at least they're not like keeping Brock like active as the back of right that would be like but at this point either like it's he's healthy and you're gonna play him or like you just got to like stop with this or maybe he's healthy and you don't play him in which case i think you just say that like i don't know anymore turf toe obviously like difficult difficult injury i mean
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it's a hard one to come back from, but nonetheless this sort of saga I think has benefited no one and I like no team I think is like truly prepping like oh my gosh is Brock pretty going to play right like you're not getting that like whatever like gamesmanship bonus the rookie Pierce all stuff I like
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I just feel bad for him as a player like this is two years now where he's barely played and he looked really good.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: He'll probably look good when he gets back and you'll continue to look good.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: But like you got to be on the field at some point and he's made good on like his draft slot in terms of execution.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but not in terms of like overall production.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I think
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's because there's been out for so long, you don't really think about it.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: But next year is year three, like they're gonna have to start thinking about like, him in a second contract and like, how he fits for this future of this team and you can't make that decision of a player or it's not actually on the field.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully, you get so over this, you have to clean Bill of Health, be able to sort of continue the rest of his career on scale.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think the only annoying thing about the Brock party situation.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_00]: And again, we've talked about why did they choose to keep him like on the active roster and all this kind of stuff and like the fact that it allows him to continue to to practice even in a limited perspective and that sort of thing.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: But I will say that it is a little bit of noxious that Joe Barrow had the same injury.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, theoretically the same injury had.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: Surgery and is already having his practice window back open Which doesn't mean he's gonna play but it's almost like like why didn't they just do that if it if that was the time table And maybe they just didn't know.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, so they do this a lot where it's just like It seems like they string things out.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a little longer than we need to and then all of a sudden it's like, well Maybe you should just put them on a put them on IR and like two weeks later They do and it's just like all right.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll see what happens.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: I, I'm with you on that.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like, we will see what happens.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: If it happens this week, then great.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: If it doesn't, then fine.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's the right, the right attitude, but that's kind of where I'm on this.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you, totally.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's annoying.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's weird.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: We don't get it.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: They're very opaque about it.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know, they don't really deserve the benefit of the doubt given the way injuries have been handled by this team, so it's just even more frustrating.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that's fair.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: All right, well enough for this theoretical conversation.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go ahead and talk about what was ultimately a kind of weird game started off very much like, like I full on full disclosure, I was running a little bit late in getting to where I could go somewhere to watch the game because there was
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: like a slither of the state that I live in, where this game was not being broadcast and so I had to find somewhere to go.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: It was very annoying.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like if I had driven like 45 minutes,
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: 30 or 45 minutes like south or east or west.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: I probably would have watched the game anywhere I wanted but anyway, so I missed the first quarter or most like most of the first quarter and by the time I got there I was like oh, maybe I just don't want to watch the rest of this game.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: I did because it started to improve and then it started to not improve again, so not great.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, 42, 26.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot of points to give up.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: exacerbated because they scored as many points the Rams did in the fourth quarter as they did in the first Just like that since in this meme, it's like, you know, it's stop.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's dead already Kind of thing, but anyway, so let's let's go ahead and move into our one-up one-down section for this week And the oxhouse, I'll kick it over to you to do your up You know as much as there is Yeah, I mean
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like the offense was pretty good like I'll just say I the running game not so good, but Brian Robinson look good But I thought the passing game was good right like back Jones 319 yards 40 attempts as like 39 attempts as a bit of a lot But they move the ball a lot like Bit of a lot
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: quite a lot.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: Not what you want from a caution to hit an offense, but, you know, George Kittle, 84 yards, nine receptions, you on Jennings, 71 yards, six receptions, Christian McAfrey, those are your three guys I think on offense and they got the ball well.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's a bit of, okay, whatever, kind of up because it obviously wasn't good enough for them to win.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, they're two parts of this, right?
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: The Rams offense is really good.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: And that hat, that showed up in the 49st defense was not good enough to handle that.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: The Rams defense is also really good.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought the 49ers offense did a fairly good show against what is a good defense, right?
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I think,
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: That sort of going into our like lead-up talking about like the game earlier in the episode, the part of the team that you expect that you needed to like carry the team, I thought played fine.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think 26 points probably would have been more 28 like block PT and then they went for two and didn't get him.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's not against this defense.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think is like fairly respectable, especially given the continued injuries on the offensive side.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: However, right, in the context of your defense not being of the stop limit wasn't enough, but generally speaking, I think you're off in scoring 26 to 28 points of sight.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna win more games than you'll lose with that type of offensive production.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: So that sort of, that I thought was enough and then like just a little shout out like Brian Robinson seems to be like kicking in to high gear and that that's super fun because I like the way I like his running style.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think he has a new element to the soft as
- 27:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, pretty much a grand everything that you said.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: That was what I was going to mention as well.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, the 39 pass attempts is not great.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: He did complete 33% of them, which is, or 33 of them, which is really impressive actually.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: both quarterback's actually pretty accurate on the day.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty funny to think that Matt Stafford he of the unscathed passing attempts as far as, as far as the broadcast was concerned.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: He never did anything wrong, but yet he...
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: He threw just as many incompletions on the day, and in fact, more incompletions on the day than Mac Jones did.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_00]: I chalk some of that up to the game state, right?
- 28:05[SPEAKER_00]: When you get, again, when you get down by 21 points inside of the first, a couple of minutes of the first second quarter, that becomes a difficult proposition to try to catch up.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you're not going to be willing to throw the ball more, more, more,
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought that the offense on the whole looked good.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: And like you said, really in both games against the Rams, the offense has been pretty good.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: And the fact that that it is,
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: that this is against a defense that is considered, you know, one of the better units in the NFL makes you go, okay, well, maybe this offense has got some juice, even with its injury problems and everything, like it's not a perfect group, and it's not a full strength group, but it's still able to do some things, and like you said, if they had,
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: not had so much pressure on them from the other side of the ball, then maybe you're in a different position where you're like, okay.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, if they score 27, 26, 28 points or whatever on a regular in a regular basis, you're probably going to win a lot of games.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you're scoring between 28 and 30 points in an NFL game throughout the whole season, you're probably going to win a lot of games.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the back matter.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_00]: It just so happened.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: Their defense was not capable of
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: of letting the rams do anything different.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: And that was going to, you know, that's that, that essentially to my mind is like the difference between these two rams matchups.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think the, I mean, I think if you'd sort of did a mirror image of the box scores from the offense as perspective, pretty much the same thing right between this game and the first in the game.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_00]: They won a couple of weeks ago, the difference was that the defense couldn't hold its own and that that is quite a big difference in this case.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, totally agree.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I think that's just going to sort of be true.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, if like, we might just, like, we're recording ourselves, much as I clip it, then replay it every sort of like, we can't have this like, well, the defensive done enough.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: Because I mean, I think that's going to be the story of the 49ers season for pure on now.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, there's just, there's no doubt about that, um, there's, and, and that will vary depending on who they're playing.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like this week, they just happen to like, I mean, we said this at the beginning of the episode, right, and this is like last week, they played an offense that just didn't have the juice.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, their coach got fired this week after another loss.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: Um, another loss where they had a lead, uh, the giant sprind able is out there.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and this week they played an offense that had the juice and it wasn't good enough.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, yeah, that will be something to watch out for for sure.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think it's all pretty self-evident at this point, but we can talk about the downs now.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think we already started to have that conversation, but maybe something specific in the obvious areas where the team was down.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's where you're going to head with it on just wondering.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: Can I just say everything else?
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it at that.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Is that, is that a la?
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm sure.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't tell you what, like, specifically about the defense was like, particularly bad.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was just everything, like they couldn't, they just, they couldn't get a stop.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: It was, it was probably that simple.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: that in like, I don't know, like I'm a little disappointed by the run defense, stay allowed around like four and a half yards of carry on average to the two running backs and two touchdowns.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's not great.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: But then you can look over the past defense, like sure Matthew Stapford through 12 in completion, like you were saying, but four touchdowns,
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: They got one sack total, like, no turnovers force, just sort of not, not explosive in any way, but I guess I'll hone in on the rush defense.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think they don't have the juice to, like, sort of.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: be that game-changing past defense because of the past rushing right now with all the injuries, but you've got to be able to stop them running and I think not being able to do that is a bad sign of things to come because at least if you can stop them, then like you make teams one-dimensional, then you don't know, you know, you might get lucky, right?
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, or you might be able to take advantage of the fact that teams have to pass against you.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: But that also comes from being able to like stop teams from running.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: And they did not do good enough job again against the Rams.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: And that's going to really matter for them.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think heading forward.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's that's all correct.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I was going to I'm just going to look here.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I said the thing about the box scores and how they kind of mirror each other.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: And in fact, there is some of that.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think the difference is that, again, the game state kind of changed a little bit at the fact that the Rams jumped out to an early lead.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_00]: Versus the 49ers, the 49ers got off to a 17 to 7, half-time lead, and they were down 21 to 7, and this particular game.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: So very, very, very similar beginnings to these games, right?
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: The numbers jumped out in that game in Los Angeles
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: And like the Rams were like successful as a running team sort of generally speaking in in that first game, but they only ran the ball 16 times.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: So 16 carry 78 yards, which is 4.0 and you're out for carry.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now Blake core only ran the ball once for 13.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: So that inflates that a little bit.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now Karen Williams was 14 of 65 14 for 65, which is 4.6 yards for carry.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: But on 14 carries, you're just like, hey, whatever, right?
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like, doesn't even make that big of a difference.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_00]: In this one, it's 30 times, and they still average 4.2 yards per carry, which is, now, the funny thing is, Karen Williams, still only ran the ball 14 times.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: He was even more successful this time.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: The major difference I think was that they had the Blake Corne was worked in a little bit more.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: Again, the game state kind of helped them,
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: uh... in that game although funny enough and this is that was an over time game to be fair all the funny enough for nine or drop back uh... had forty fifty drop back they should say uh... in that game machines through the law forty nine times uh... in the wind so it's just kind of weird like
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a little difference in the defense.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think like the lack of a patch rush is a real problem.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: It was something that we anticipated was going to be a problem even with Nick Bosa and Michael Williams.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: But now that they don't have any of those guys and bright stuff is coming off a hamstring injury, it's just like, it was always gonna be a problem.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the secondary is solid, but obviously unspectacular in the fact that they don't produce turnovers and all that kind of stuff is where it is what leads me to say things like they're unspectacular, right?
- 35:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like,
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: They can generally get the job done, especially if the past rush is getting home, but if it's not, and this is, to be fair, this would be true of any past of any secondary I think, I think if you put the best, the best cornerbacks in the world on this team, and without a past rush, eventually, any quarterback would be able to find someone, that's just the nature of the thing.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: And that's coming back to hurt him.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, is it exacerbated by again, by the Rams being the Rams and Matthew Stafford being Matthew Stafford?
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: But as you said, is it something to watch out for?
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it's, it's a real problem, right?
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like, without a pass, there's a reason why I think the most, the most dominant 49ers team,
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: that under costume and which I'm going to say is 2019, people might disagree with me, that was all off that password, like that password absolutely don't need, right?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: And like it changes games.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the Eagles won the Super Bowl last year off their password.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: Your password wins you games and we've seen that, like the 49ers won.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: They're first two games this year off like a password from you at the end that like just ended the game.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's how football works.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it just, it is exceedingly difficult like you said.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's super hard to be a good defense when you aren't putting any pressure, literally pressure, right, like none.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Pressing the quarterback, but also like favoritively aggression.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: on the opposing offense.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: And they just, they don't have the horses to do that right now.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: And that like, I think without having those players who can like cause offenses to like worry and sort of like have to like figure things out and like change up what they do, it's just, it becomes too easy.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's a real problem from them.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: other problem, like you sort of mentioned, there's no solution.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: The solution is wait for the season to turn and get your guys back healthy.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: But that doesn't help the 2025-2026-40 Niners.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: So those guys have to have to sort it out and do what they can with the players they have.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and for the next month or so,
- 38:08[SPEAKER_00]: it's probably going to mean like depending on the fact that they're playing weaker teams with trying to think about the yeah like generally a weaker offensive lines and just weaker everything like at least on the offensive side right i think they're i think if there's a if there's a truth about all four of the teams that they're going to face over the next month it's that it's just
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: We, like, offences that are just not, not good.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we'll probably talk about that in more details.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_00]: We get closer to those things to those games, but it doesn't mean that they're going, so they may be able to get away with it differently.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they didn't really have a pass rushing as the giants, but it didn't matter because the giants don't have the offensive weapons at this particular point to make them pay for it.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's that maybe true of some teams they'll run up against in games to come, but it's not going to be true for every team that they play, for the rest of the season.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_00]: And if they get to the playoffs, it's absolutely not going to be the case, whoever it is.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, like they said, like we said, they're likely, they're likely going to be what this succeed at best, probably the seven seed more than likely, which means they're going to play,
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever the number two seed is, which could be any number of teams, the Eagles, the Rams, the Seahawks, the Bucks, the Lions are all in play there.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: Those are all pretty good offenses that if you let them play against you, it's going to be a rough.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_00]: And so,
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you talked about like what are the things, you know, once they get into the tournament, maybe there's some things that they can make some noise, but ultimately I think the lack of a past rush, because I think the the run defense will, if they get a couple of like if Alpha Collins comes back and they get kind of the the core defensive lines such as it is at this available to them at this point.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: Back, I think the run defense will probably be okay in the end, but the past rush is just not going to be able to get any better than it is at this point.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, totally agree.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: There, this is the team they have to deal with it and they gotta, they'll have to, the most part.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, yep.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 100%.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that was a dower ending, wasn't it?
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, it was a dower game.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Our optimism, which we'd always definitely haven't spades, can only go so far.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was a dower game, but it was also kind of like,
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when I arrived and it was already 21 to nothing, I think they had just scored.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: So it was early in the second quarter, I guess, when I arrived.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I missed the whole first quarter and then in the beginning of the second.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like they scored that second touchdown in a couple of minutes into the second quarter, or that third touchdown I should say.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I was just like, hmm, all right, well.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I sort of, when I walked in, and Tora was watching the game was sort of like, all right, well, I'm resigned to the outcome here already.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course, they, the nine-ish quarter touchdown and they got, they got the, the good punter turn that they subsequently, like, okay, you know, we give, or they got the, no, that wasn't the good punter turn.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: And that was the punter turn and then they, they immediately had the two long passes and then they squandered that.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: And, and that didn't end up working.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: They ended up punting it back at the end of the half and then they got back into the game a little bit and the beginning of the second half and the second beginning of the second half is a little back and forth, you know, I'll admit I got pulled back in, but I was never I never got to the point where I was like, all right, well, maybe they can really, really truly win this.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: So which is fine.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: So it wasn't like I've been sadder about the way the the outcomes of sporting events.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: This one was just kind of like,
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what I expected to happen, and you know, if they had lost to like the Giants last week, I think that would have been an infinitely worse and would tell us a lot more about this team.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: I guess what I'm trying to say, I'm not sure that we learned anything about the 49ers that we didn't already know because they lost to a good team.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: We learned that whatever magic they have.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: to be division rivals, it's not like absolute.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're home, sir, sir, you're right.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was, the game was a little frustrating for me, only because in that third quarter and started the fourth, when they were only a score away, you had that feeling that like, oh, they might be able to pull it off, right?
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: That like, it's right there.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then obviously it wasn't in the score around it being a lot more like, yeah.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: Side of the game is obviously more lopsided than the game felt, but also less, right?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're right.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: They were down 21 points.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they were also down like only a touchdown for like the better part the second half.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's sort of like got away from them.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think that like that's to me for this season.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: This is the frustrating part is that you see the pieces rotating and it's like wow.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like the bones of something really, really special is here.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: But that's all it is, the bones because of all the injuries and because of everything.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: But like, I mean, I totally agree.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think they put up a decent effort.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: They lost to a good team.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: They'll be playing other good teams.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: So we playing other bad teams.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: And as long as they take care of business against the bad teams,
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: They'll have plenty of chances to figure things out.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: And frankly, with all the injuries on offense too, we don't know what this team is going to look like like, excuse me, so now frankly, I think for now.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: No exactly, like who knows how it's going to look next week.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: They just like,
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot sort of up in the air, and I think 500 after their start given everything that's going on is like a pretty fair description of where they're at, and I think we'll just have to, we'll have to see how it keeps on playing out.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_00]: So actually, as we were talking about that, I was I was looking back at the fourth quarter again, because I was I remember having that feeling, can we talk momentarily about two weeks in a row?
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: that the officials have created some sort of phantom illegal procedure penalty.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was annoying.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_00]: He stopped.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_00]: He stopped moving.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what else he's supposed to do.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you very clearly stop moving.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't understand how that happened.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that was the term, that was when the game ended essentially.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when, because they had a first down, because George Kills best friends, who was the camera, Cam Kills, who just wanted to hug him the whole game.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he wanted to be George Kills best friend by loving on him.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, they got the first down and then they were like,
- 45:30[SPEAKER_00]: the legal shift might.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: In the fact that, like, the broadcast guys are both, like, hmm, uh, not sure what you saw there, guy.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, what, like, as soon as that happened, and then obviously, back through the interception.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: which was an unfortunate play on the very next effort.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: That was like, OK, well, it's done now.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: Because if there's a, they run their own 41-yard line, they would have had five extra yards in a first-down.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they don't score a touchdown there.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: But if they do, it certainly becomes a little bit more interesting.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I thought that was annoying.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's just like, I don't know.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like that.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, try not to spend too much time on like the officiating.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I think generally speaking, they kind of let them play in this one.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: That was, that was an annoying call that, again, I'm not saying it costs in the game.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_00]: They were still losing at that point by 15 points.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: They still had a lot of work to do.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: But that certainly would have made it more interesting than when it ended up being
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was lame, but I don't know, given the, like that was for the nail and the coupling right yeah I didn't get it, but to be fair, I don't like.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there were calls that were missing both ways.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: Just sucks that like, this is in such a big moment.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: I also think that like, I don't know, the broadcast was like, maybe the passing of friends was really a passing of friends.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, pretty passing of friends.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you try to get mugged.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: And you're calling it, but like, in any case, I like, I don't like, it was a,
- 47:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was an unceremonious way to end an unceremonious game.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that two play sequins kind of spelled out the whole game for the 49ers to me.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe add a play after when the Rams probably got like a bunch of yards on the play.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_01]: That like three play sequins probably spelled out the play of the game.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean with that as well said, well, all right, cool, on to Arizona as Bill Bell check with say.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so there we go.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_00]: Any other fine closing thoughts on that exercise?
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think you suned up wealthy end, but I don't want to assume that you're done pontificating and why not?
- 47:56[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll avoid too much quantification.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: They keep it somewhat more concrete.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: But like, I think you said it perfectly, Robert.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just gonna echo what you said.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers have a fairly favorable set of games ahead of them, and a team that has shown that they can play up to a certain level, that's better than a lot of the teams that play.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like that, I think it's just frankly true.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: So it's the onus is on them to sort of continue and put themselves in a position to bang those winds and just develop.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is a development year.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: We kind of knew that it was going to be a development year.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: kind of even before all the injuries happened and it continues to be a development year and so Who knows what this team is going to look like in a couple weeks who knows how they're going to be playing But that's the fun part of football.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: So it's exciting to see how I'll play out
- 48:55[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well said.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
