- 0:38Speaker 1: Mogey, mogey, mogey.
- 0:42Speaker 3: You old stallion. You massive stud. How's life?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Going pretty grouse, I've got to say. You mad dog,
- 0:49Speaker 1: you perverted son of a bee. You weird bastard.
- 0:54Speaker 6: Yeah, man.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Beautiful day today.
- 0:56Speaker 6: Lovely.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Another one of those days that makes you think that
- 0:58Speaker 1: spring has sprung.
- 0:59Speaker 5: I reckon.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But we can't be fooled, Jase, because we know what happens.
- 1:03Speaker 1: We get a couple of weeks of this, and then
- 1:05Speaker 1: it's rubbish again.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So don't let it fool you. Enjoy it while it lasts.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But it's going to turn, all right? Keezy, how are you, man?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Really good, thanks, Mogi. Is that true, though?
- 1:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 1: No, good as gold.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Better than yesterday, slightly. Still not 100%, but I'm here.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Got some red-hot content, you know what I mean?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah, good as hell. How are you today, Jase, you pervert?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm really good, actually, fellas. As Mogi said, beautiful day.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I've been wandering the city. Had a nice lunch.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Got your Google glasses on there.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, totally, man. It's all good. It's all good. But
- 1:40Speaker 3: I tell you what is going to be good. This
- 1:42Speaker 3: is going to be a massive show. I can feel
- 1:45Speaker 3: it in my bones.
- 1:49Speaker 4: What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogi?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Another day, another dollar, Jase. Yeah, man. Another opportunity to
- 1:57Speaker 1: get yourself in the draw for Would You Rather. It's
- 1:58Speaker 1: Waz or Kaz. You know what it's all about. Listen
- 2:00Speaker 1: for the cue to call. Jump on 0800 Hauraki and
- 2:03Speaker 1: you could be in the draw. You might even win it.
- 2:05Speaker 1: You might take it away, Keezy.
- 2:06Speaker 3: We don't know. Yeah, man.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Imagine that.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Were you imagining it? I was imagining it.
- 2:12Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 1: How good, how good. Also going to have a little
- 2:15Speaker 1: bit of a chat about Keezy's Pigeon.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Keezy's Pigeon. Keezy on all wings looking over his beak
- 2:21Speaker 1: with me, Keezy. Shocking bass.
- 2:23Speaker 4: 100% had another race over the weekend, fellas.
- 2:25Speaker 3: And it was a big one, wasn't it? It was
- 2:27Speaker 3: a huge one. 7,000 kilometres.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That's right. 480, yeah, yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 6: All right.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So we'll update you on that later on. But not
- 2:34Speaker 1: only that, old Keezy over here, he's found a hot
- 2:38Speaker 1: piece of news.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Wow.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Yeah, Keezy's found a hot piece of news.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Your hot content.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It's called Keezy's Hot Piece of News with me, Sicko.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So looking forward to that, Keezy. It's about a lion,
- 2:53Speaker 1: is that right? It's about two lions. Wow. How good. Double.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Here's Incubus.
- 2:59Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Rage against a machine there on the Hauraki Big Show
- 3:06Speaker 3: this Tuesday afternoon, 12 minutes past 4 o'clock in a
- 3:10Speaker 3: new segment on the big show, Keezy's Hot Take.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Cheesy's hot piece of content with me, Sicko.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I'm fired up about this. Honestly, we've been working in
- 3:27Speaker 1: the background for months to get this off the ground.
- 3:30Speaker 3: It's been, it's finally, what an occasion to finally see
- 3:36Speaker 3: it born. Can you play that sting again, Cheesy?
- 3:40Speaker 1: No, just one more time.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Please. Fine, I will.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Cheesy's hot piece of content with me, Sicko.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Good stuff.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Pugs is absolutely cracking himself up at the B-Studio there.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Because he obviously made that within the last 30 seconds,
- 4:02Speaker 4: just got it in in time. And I've played it
- 4:04Speaker 4: on the radio there without knowing.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It's great stuff. Yeah, it's really good.
- 4:09Speaker 4: This is my new segment, Keezy's Hot Take. Do we
- 4:12Speaker 4: call you sicko during this? Nah, it's all Gmail. I
- 4:14Speaker 4: think we just pretend like it's Keezy's News.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Hey, in Wellington City there, you familiar with it?
- 4:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:22Speaker 4: They're budgeting almost $ 14 million over the next two years
- 4:27Speaker 4: so that the old zoo down there can upgrade its
- 4:28Speaker 4: lion enclosure. We've got a couple of lions down there,
- 4:32Speaker 4: Jelani and Siddiqui. They're from the Copenhagen Zoo. They moved
- 4:36Speaker 4: over five years ago. But $ 14 million to revamp the
- 4:39Speaker 4: lion enclosure.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 4:41Speaker 4: And it's like, surely we could do it for cheaper.
- 4:44Speaker 1: $ 14 million.
- 4:44Speaker 4: It already has a lion enclosure. They just want to, like,
- 4:47Speaker 4: spruce it up a wee bit.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 4: So it's like, you know, surely the, like. That's the
- 4:51Speaker 4: quote they've been given, 14 mil. I get the feeling,
- 4:55Speaker 4: you know, because whenever people are handing out quotes to
- 4:57Speaker 4: the council and that, they always add a little bit
- 4:59Speaker 4: of mustard.
- 5:00Speaker 1: On top because it's the council.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 1: We could probably do it for cheaper than that. 100%
- 5:04Speaker 1: you can.
- 5:04Speaker 3: It's great stuff, Gizzy. It's great stuff. Well, look, I
- 5:10Speaker 3: reckon we could. And what you need to do, first
- 5:14Speaker 3: and foremost, if you want to sort of zhuzh your
- 5:16Speaker 3: place up a bit, give it a new look, pot plants.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yeah, a few pot plants, absolutely. But I think that's
- 5:23Speaker 1: probably more than they deserve. For me, you probably don't
- 5:28Speaker 1: know this about lions there, Keezy, but they're scared of lines.
- 5:34Speaker 1: So all you actually have to do is if you
- 5:35Speaker 1: paint a line on the ground, they are too scared
- 5:39Speaker 1: to cross it. They've got sort of a mental block
- 5:41Speaker 1: around it.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah, lions.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Lions are scared of lines.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Lions.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Straight up. Isn't that weird? It's unbelievable. One of life's
- 5:48Speaker 1: great mysteries. So that's all you actually need. So we
- 5:52Speaker 1: could do that for 8 to 10 mil.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I think so.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Right, so we take the existing enclosure. Knock it down.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Demolish it. Demolish it. Concrete it? Actually, I'd leave it
- 6:03Speaker 1: there and I'd chuck, I don't know, what are you,
- 6:05Speaker 1: penguins or some shit? I don't know.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Chuck a couple of penguins in there.
- 6:08Speaker 6: Right.
- 6:08Speaker 1: That way, because if you start getting into demolition, it's pricey. Yeah, okay.
- 6:13Speaker 1: That comes out of our cream, you know?
- 6:16Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, because you've got to then dispose of it.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 3: It costs a fortune.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Or you could take that and you could put that
- 6:24Speaker 1: in with all the seals in the water, all the concrete.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Just dump it in the water with the seal enclosure.
- 6:29Speaker 4: I don't know they had a seal enclosure.
- 6:30Speaker 3: So paint some lines. Some pot plants.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Put some penguins in there.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Some penguins.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I put a couple of meerkats in there as well.
- 6:40Speaker 3: And you know what? And I would be tempted, Moge,
- 6:42Speaker 3: it's going to blow out the cost a bit, a
- 6:44Speaker 3: scratching post.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely.
- 6:46Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 6:48Speaker 1: When we were growing up, our next door neighbours, they
- 6:51Speaker 1: had a big cat. That loved a scratching post.
- 6:56Speaker 4: When you say a big cat, do you mean like
- 6:57Speaker 4: one of the big cats, like a lion or a
- 6:59Speaker 4: tiger or just a large cat?
- 7:00Speaker 1: No, just a big cat.
- 7:01Speaker 3: It was just an obese cat, yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a really fat cat. Big bastard.
- 7:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:06Speaker 4: All right, well, look, to be honest, I'm keen to
- 7:07Speaker 4: put together a quote here and send it off to them.
- 7:09Speaker 4: So if anyone listening can think of anything, 3483, what
- 7:13Speaker 4: do lions need in their enclosure?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Every text in the draw for 50 bucks, Reburger.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Litter box.
- 7:17Speaker 1: A litter box, that's good, Jase. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Like a sand pit or something like that.
- 7:21Speaker 1: 100%.
- 7:21Speaker 6: Yes.
- 7:21Speaker 3: A little.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Chew toy.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:25Speaker 1: A little chew toy. Chew toy, okay. Yeah, like a
- 7:28Speaker 1: dog or something.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Here's Food Fighters.
- 7:34Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 7:37Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Radiohead there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 7:45Speaker 3: The time is 25 minutes past 4 o'clock. And in
- 7:48Speaker 3: Keezy news at Wellington Zoo, they've been given a $ 14
- 7:52Speaker 3: million budget to upgrade the lion enclosure. And the fellas
- 7:57Speaker 3: reckon we can do it for cheaper.
- 8:02Speaker 1: What's on the news? With me, Keezy.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Good to have the old sting back. That's right, Chase.
- 8:12Speaker 4: So people are texting in on 3483, because if we
- 8:15Speaker 4: put together a quote, we come in under $ 14 million,
- 8:17Speaker 4: the Wellington City Council will go for us.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I definitely think we can do it for 13 mil.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Because a lot of great texts are coming in on 3483,
- 8:26Speaker 4: keep them coming, and everyone's in the draw for a
- 8:29Speaker 4: $ 50 Reburger voucher. I've managed to find a pamphlet for
- 8:33Speaker 4: if you are opening a lion enclosure.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Which is an interesting pamphlet.
- 8:38Speaker 4: It says here it needs to be as large as possible,
- 8:40Speaker 4: a minimum of 37 square metres per lion.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Bullshit.
- 8:44Speaker 4: And then add 50% more space for each additional lion.
- 8:48Speaker 3: That's huge. Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 4: This here disagrees with the statement you made, Mogi, which
- 8:53Speaker 4: is that lions are afraid of lines.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:56Speaker 1: So you don't need a fence, you just paint a
- 8:58Speaker 1: line on the ground that won't go outside.
- 8:59Speaker 4: It says here it needs to be at least 3.5
- 9:01Speaker 4: metres high, fence-wise, with either a roof or an inward-facing
- 9:07Speaker 4: one-metre overhang to stop the lions getting out.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, look, I mean, they're always going to say that,
- 9:12Speaker 1: aren't they? Because it just requires, you know, sort of
- 9:17Speaker 1: more things to be done that aren't really necessary, but
- 9:19Speaker 1: it sort of keeps people in work. So I can
- 9:22Speaker 1: understand it. But we used to do it all the time.
- 9:25Speaker 1: You have the line painted there. And whenever the lion
- 9:31Speaker 1: came up to the line, they had that collar on,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you know, one of those.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Electric shock collars. Shock collar, yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And they only have to wear it for a limited
- 9:39Speaker 1: amount of time. And then you can take the collar off,
- 9:41Speaker 1: put it on the next lion. And then they've learned
- 9:44Speaker 1: that they don't want to go anywhere near that line.
- 9:46Speaker 6: They don't want to cross the line, if you will, Keezy.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Thank you. Now, what you call that, Keezy, is learned behaviour.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I don't know if people want to come along and
- 9:55Speaker 4: see people electrocuting lions.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Oh, no, you do that in private. And then by
- 9:59Speaker 1: the time you let people in. in to see it,
- 10:00Speaker 1: they're already all trained up.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Yeah, they're already broken down and this sort of thing.
- 10:04Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 10:05Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 3: They're just broken as animals.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Which is great, right?
- 10:09Speaker 3: Well, I mean, you don't want them going crazy, do you?
- 10:11Speaker 1: Because there's nothing to hold them back. If they go crazy,
- 10:13Speaker 1: there's only a lion there.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right.
- 10:16Speaker 1: There's not enough, so you don't want them going nuts.
- 10:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 4: It says here the flooring, because we were going to
- 10:21Speaker 4: just concrete it almost and just paint. It says here
- 10:24Speaker 4: natural dirt or planted ground is preferred.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Preferred, sure. I mean, we'd all love some nice dirt
- 10:29Speaker 1: and some nice grass.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Look, I'm happy to chuck a couple of sacks of,
- 10:36Speaker 3: I don't know, bark or something down.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Blood and bone.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Pardon?
- 10:39Speaker 1: Blood and bone.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah, a bit of blood and bone.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Isn't that for planting stuff? Yeah. Cheap as chips. It's
- 10:46Speaker 1: all about margins here, Keezy. I feel like there's a
- 10:48Speaker 1: bit of resistance here, but we've got to get this
- 10:49Speaker 1: quote down.
- 10:50Speaker 4: I know, totally, but I just feel like it's all
- 10:52Speaker 4: about coming in under budget, but also people coming along
- 10:54Speaker 4: to see a couple of lions with their spirits broken
- 10:57Speaker 4: with two sacks of bark on the ground.
- 11:00Speaker 1: That's not as good. For who? Not as good for who?
- 11:05Speaker 1: For the viewer. Yeah. The audience member there. That's a
- 11:09Speaker 1: separate thing. We're the contractors building the enclosure. We're not
- 11:12Speaker 1: the ones in charge of the entertainment.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 11:14Speaker 1: They've got to get better lines.
- 11:15Speaker 3: That's on the lines. You know what I mean? We
- 11:18Speaker 3: can't dictate how they behave.
- 11:20Speaker 1: No, that's right. Unless you've got a cold.
- 11:21Speaker 3: And I mean, if they're going to be sad sacks,
- 11:23Speaker 3: then so be it.
- 11:24Speaker 1: It's not our problem. And they will be because they're
- 11:25Speaker 1: in Wellington.
- 11:26Speaker 3: They'll be miserable. You know, pooing on bark.
- 11:29Speaker 1: They've come all the way from South Africa, gutted.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Fresh drinking water must be available.
- 11:34Speaker 1: 100%. We're not barbarians.
- 11:38Speaker 3: No.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Put a little water fountain in there for them.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Wow, a water cooler or something like that.
- 11:42Speaker 1: What, like an office one? Yes.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Feeding, a meat-based diet is required. Whole prey items where possible,
- 11:51Speaker 4: including the skin and the bones.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But now you're getting into, it's got nothing to do
- 11:55Speaker 1: with us. We're building the enclosure. We're not feeding them.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I don't work at the zoo.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Now I'm working at the zoo. I've got no interest. Yeah, okay,
- 12:02Speaker 1: now fair enough.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Actually, someone's got a question here about the lions being
- 12:06Speaker 4: afraid of lions.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Why do they like eating zebra? Well, that's a
- 12:11Speaker 1: vertical line. That's a standing up line.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 1: These lines I'm talking about, they're on the ground. Okay.
- 12:17Speaker 1: They're terrified of the horizontal line. The vertical line drives
- 12:20Speaker 1: them insane. They get murderous.
- 12:22Speaker 2: The Radio Hauraki Big Show.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Name our beer.
- 12:24Speaker 5: Yeah, baby.
- 12:39Speaker 3: We need your help, New Zealand. What kind of beer
- 12:41Speaker 3: is it, Keezy? I can't remember. Hazy.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Tropical hazy pale ale.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Yes, nice.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It's got all the fruits in it, doesn't it, Keezy?
- 12:48Speaker 3: A bit of pineapple.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:49Speaker 3: A bit of kiwi fruit.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Tomato. Persimmon. Pumpkin.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Tamarillo.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Fig. Date.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Made by the geniuses at Emerson's.
- 13:01Speaker 4: It's to celebrate the Dunedin Beer Festival, which is back
- 13:03Speaker 4: once again Friday, November 27th, and Saturday, November 28th down
- 13:07Speaker 4: at Forsyth Bar Stadium. We'll be down there if you're
- 13:09Speaker 4: keen to head along, dunedinbeerfestival.co.nz. But in the meantime, if
- 13:13Speaker 4: you are keen for a brand-new Emerson's hoodie, they are beautiful, thick,
- 13:17Speaker 4: high-quality numbers, all you have to do is text 3483,
- 13:21Speaker 4: let us know what you would name this brand-new beer
- 13:24Speaker 4: of ours. Tech's flooding in there. Fellas, people are keen
- 13:27Speaker 4: to stay warm, obviously.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Dunedin is cold. You know, we're going to
- 13:31Speaker 3: be down there. Even at summertime, she's a bit nippy.
- 13:34Speaker 4: She is a bit nippy. Three Brothers Beak has come
- 13:37Speaker 4: in from Hayden. Triple Honka Beer. We had Three Honkas
- 13:40Speaker 4: Hazy the other day.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that one.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So a lot of good suggestions. Keep
- 13:44Speaker 1: them coming. 3483. Let's go to the Lions.
- 13:47Speaker 3: G'day, Geordie, you mad bastard. How's life? Hey, how's it going, mate? Yeah, good, thanks, mate.
- 13:53Speaker 3: You having a good day, Geordie?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a splendid day, eh?
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Splendid.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Good on you, mate. Thanks for asking, man. Pretty good.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Have you got a name for us?
- 14:03Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I was going to run this for you.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Keezy Steam running on one leg with me, Keezy. Yeah, right.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Okay.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I like it. I like it.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Of course you do. Running on one leg.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Is that because I got injured over a year ago there, Geordie?
- 14:18Speaker 3: I might have had something to do with that.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's the thing. That's good, man. That's top
- 14:23Speaker 1: two for me.
- 14:23Speaker 6: Is it?
- 14:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm real surprised.
- 14:25Speaker 3: So far.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Good on you, Geordie.
- 14:26Speaker 4: You've got yourself an Emerson's hoodie, mate. You hold the line,
- 14:28Speaker 4: all right?
- 14:29Speaker 3: So easy, champ. Brilliant.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Good on you, mate. Jeez, people have got a great imagination.
- 14:33Speaker 1: What was it again? Keezy pissed up on one leg? Yeah,
- 14:36Speaker 1: Keezy pissed up on one leg. Yeah, that's the one, yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 3: And they have great memories, too.
- 14:40Speaker 5: They do.
- 14:40Speaker 3: That was over a year ago now.
- 14:42Speaker 1: They don't let you forget, do they?
- 14:43Speaker 3: No, they certainly don't. G'day, Adam, you mad bastard.
- 14:47Speaker 1: How's life?
- 14:48Speaker 3: You're not bad, you tell boys? Yeah, good for you, mate.
- 14:51Speaker 3: How's a beautiful welly today?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Oh, mate, sun's out and you can't beat Wellington on
- 14:57Speaker 1: a good day, eh? Bloody oats, mate. Bloody oats. If
- 15:00Speaker 1: you go anywhere else on a good day. Yeah, pretty
- 15:02Speaker 1: much anywhere else. Anywhere.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I mean, anywhere. Adam, have you got a name for us, mate?
- 15:11Speaker 4: I sure do.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I reckon it should be Big Beer or Big Boys.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I like that.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Big beer for big boys.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah, put it on a big black 440ml can.
- 15:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Do like the number four.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Do it in your Howard Acker yellow.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Get that beer down my gut.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Big beer for big boys. I like it. I do
- 15:28Speaker 1: like it. It's good shit, mate. You hold the line.
- 15:30Speaker 1: You've got yourself an Emerson's hoodie as well, mate.
- 15:32Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Appreciate it, boys. No worries, man. I love you, man.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You have a good one. I love you, too.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I've got to say, my favorite is still the Three
- 15:39Speaker 3: Honkers Hazy.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:41Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 15:42Speaker 1: What about Keezy's one there?
- 15:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that was good, too. It's up there.
- 15:45Speaker 1: No shit.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Three Men and a Little Hazy, Honker Stonker, Pigeon Chris
- 15:53Speaker 4: Hazy Vision, Jizzbots Jungle Juice. Birdshit Hazy.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Birdshit Hazy has got a ring to it.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it does.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Come drink with the Phils. So lots of great suggestions
- 16:07Speaker 4: coming through. Keep them coming.
- 16:08Speaker 6: 3483.
- 16:09Speaker 4: We've got more Emerson's hoodies to flick out. And don't forget,
- 16:12Speaker 4: if you want to head along to the... Dunedin Beer Festival, dunedinbeerfestival.co.nz.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Not only will there be over 75 beer food and
- 16:21Speaker 4: beverage vendors, Shapeshifter will be there, Troy King, Red Fountain
- 16:24Speaker 4: Park Road as well.
- 16:25Speaker 1: It's going to be great.
- 16:26Speaker 3: It's going to be awesome, man. Hey, here's Nirvana.
- 16:31Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Queens of the Stone Age there on the Hauraki Big
- 16:37Speaker 3: Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.51. Fellas, let's
- 16:42Speaker 3: talk TV. What's on the Telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah!
- 16:52Speaker 3: That's right.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Hello. Fellas. Last night I watched the final episode in
- 16:58Speaker 1: the third season of the show called Alone. Yeah. Alone.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Alone is a story about you take ten people and
- 17:05Speaker 1: you throw them in the wilderness. In this case it's Tasmania,
- 17:09Speaker 1: which is in Australia. Is it?
- 17:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Oh, Tassie. The old Tassie there. And it was bloody
- 17:16Speaker 1: good right from the start. Obviously, it's cold, and you
- 17:21Speaker 1: have to build your own shelter. You have to find
- 17:23Speaker 1: your own food. You've got very limited resources. You've got
- 17:26Speaker 1: about 70 kilos, apparently, worth of camera gear. You've got
- 17:29Speaker 1: to film yourself the whole time, which would get really
- 17:30Speaker 1: bloody annoying.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Yeah, be a massive boy. Can you imagine me?
- 17:36Speaker 1: No footage available. Anyway, at the start of it, there
- 17:40Speaker 1: was a couple of fellas that I really liked. One
- 17:41Speaker 1: was a guy called Maza, who was an Australian... Fiala there,
- 17:44Speaker 1: he was a bushman, he was described as Keezy and
- 17:47Speaker 1: he used to be go around and cull kangaroos was
- 17:51Speaker 1: one of the things he'd done in his life and
- 17:53Speaker 1: then the other, he was 63 the oldest contestant they've
- 17:55Speaker 1: ever had on alone and the other guy I really
- 17:57Speaker 1: liked was a guy called Shea who was a possum
- 18:01Speaker 1: trapper from New Zealand worked in the Uruweras apparently, yes,
- 18:06Speaker 1: from the time he was 16 he went up into
- 18:07Speaker 1: the bush and just for four years just went and
- 18:10Speaker 1: trapped possums by himself excuse me um anyway we finally
- 18:15Speaker 1: got to the end of it last night and it
- 18:16Speaker 1: got down to um three people and these guys were
- 18:20Speaker 1: two of the two of the final three um and
- 18:23Speaker 1: i'm bloody thrilled with the result it is a hell
- 18:25Speaker 1: of a show it is absolute five buzzies out of
- 18:28Speaker 1: a possible five um the things that people can do
- 18:31Speaker 1: is just it's a really inspiring thing i watched it
- 18:33Speaker 1: with my daughter she loved it um I had tears
- 18:38Speaker 1: of joy and tears of sadness in that final episode.
- 18:41Speaker 1: That's how good it was. Absolutely amazing. Brilliant, brilliant show.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You've seen it, Jase.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Alone, TVNZ +.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I give it five buzzies too. It's one of those
- 18:50Speaker 3: shows that it becomes addictive very quickly. I loved it.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Five buzzies.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Yeah, five buzzies. Get into it. This is, as I say,
- 18:59Speaker 1: season three. They're in Tasmania. I won't spoil it, but jeez, God,
- 19:04Speaker 1: just brilliant television. Yes. Brilliant.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Shea, I think the Kiwi fella, is one of the
- 19:11Speaker 3: most likeable men you'll ever see on television.
- 19:14Speaker 1: He is one of the greatest New Zealanders and human
- 19:17Speaker 1: beings to ever walk this earth of ours. Yes. Unshakable,
- 19:22Speaker 1: keeps his sense of humour, low-key, deadpan.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Incredibly highly skilled, tenacious.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Yes.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Just a never-give-up attitude. You're going to have to drag
- 19:32Speaker 1: me out of here. Just everything you want to be
- 19:35Speaker 1: in a person, this guy is. He's completely understated, no
- 19:38Speaker 1: vanity about him. If anything, hates the spotlight, very modest.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I can't speak highly enough of that bloke or that show.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Just incredible.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Fellas, I had a very lazy TV night last night.
- 19:50Speaker 3: so we watched one of those sort of murder documentaries
- 19:52Speaker 3: where the husband's a piece of shit, basically murders his wife,
- 19:57Speaker 3: steals all her money, and then you find out he
- 19:59Speaker 3: did that to his previous wife as well. So, you know,
- 20:02Speaker 3: just your normal kind of doco viewing. I give it
- 20:05Speaker 3: 2.5 pussies out of 5. What was it called? I
- 20:08Speaker 3: don't know.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Where did you watch it? Sounds like Netflix.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Yeah, it was Netflix. It was Netflix.
- 20:14Speaker 6: Yes.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Watch the season finale of the first season of Our
- 20:18Speaker 4: Age is Fortune.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Great finale. Great show. Yes.
- 20:22Speaker 4: I won't bang on about too much, though, but highly recommend.
- 20:24Speaker 1: How many buzzies?
- 20:26Speaker 4: I've been giving it like 4.2 buzzies the whole time.
- 20:29Speaker 4: That finale, I was expecting a five-buzzy finale. It was
- 20:33Speaker 4: about a four-and-a-half-buzzy finale.
- 20:35Speaker 1: That's pretty good.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Because one of the things I predicted, I was like, oh,
- 20:37Speaker 4: I reckon this, this, and this is going to happen.
- 20:38Speaker 4: It didn't, so I was surprised, which is always good.
- 20:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Really love the characters. Love Grandad.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Because they've got the Grandad living with them, and he
- 20:46Speaker 4: sort of goes in and out of having dementia and
- 20:48Speaker 4: things aren't real, but he's still very onto it in
- 20:50Speaker 4: certain spaces.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 20:52Speaker 4: I like all the characters, and my wife has got
- 20:54Speaker 4: an interesting new crush from the show as well.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Oh, good. But maybe we can talk about that later.
- 20:58Speaker 3: My wife had a crush on that show as well.
- 21:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 3: And then she married him.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Oh, because you were in that show, eh?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Hi. Coming up after 5 o'clock, we have a bit
- 21:08Speaker 3: of a pigeon update.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Also, fellas, I'm a little bit worried about my career,
- 21:14Speaker 3: and I need your advice on some stuff.
- 21:15Speaker 1: You got it, man.
- 21:19Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 21:22Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday's going along tickety-boo.
- 21:28Speaker 3: You are listening to The Big Show, brought to you
- 21:31Speaker 3: by Re-Burger.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that'll change the game.
- 21:37Speaker 4: We're gonna need a bigger burger.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Ah, too good.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Hey fellas, exciting news. RE, the Warriors, tickets went on
- 21:51Speaker 4: sale today for the home final.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Wow. 12pm.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Bloody hard to get tickets it was.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Tell me about it.
- 21:57Speaker 4: But if you missed out, Tomorrow on the show, we're going.
- 22:00Speaker 1: To have something to give away.
- 22:02Speaker 3: What?
- 22:03Speaker 4: Okay, so just listen to the old big show there.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Get ready to call 0800 HODAR.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I was on my phone all Arvo, just effing and jeffing. Man,
- 22:09Speaker 3: just so far down the queue, I couldn't believe it.
- 22:13Speaker 6: All Arvo?
- 22:14Speaker 3: All Arvo, man. I still haven't got any tickets.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Damn.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Wow.
- 22:17Speaker 1: It's just crap, man. Did you get tickets, Moggy? Yeah,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I got heaps. I got heaps of tickets. I put
- 22:24Speaker 1: mine in the bin, most of them.
- 22:26Speaker 4: So you printed them out and put them in the,
- 22:27Speaker 4: but you still got them though.
- 22:28Speaker 1: No, no, no, no. I'm not going to use them.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I'm going to go down to a local pub. Yeah, right.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And watch it so I can sort of F and
- 22:34Speaker 1: Jeff a bit. I just want to be able, the
- 22:36Speaker 1: trouble I find when you're at the stadium is if
- 22:39Speaker 1: things aren't going your way, you can't throw the chairs around.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Because they're bolted down to the concrete. So I want
- 22:45Speaker 1: to be in a pub where I can pick up
- 22:46Speaker 1: a chair and throw it against the wall or smash
- 22:48Speaker 1: a TV or whatever.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, fair enough. That's why you want to get in
- 22:51Speaker 3: the corporate boxes, Mogi.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Oh, 100%.
- 22:53Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Because they've got undetached chairs.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Detached chairs.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Yeah, detached, I mean.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Not unattached.
- 23:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Unattached. They're just chairs. They've just got chairs. They've got
- 23:06Speaker 1: chairs here.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff. Chairs.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Oh.
- 23:09Speaker 5: Oh.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Here's Sheehan.
- 23:13Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yes, indeed. Head like a hole on the Hauraki Big
- 23:20Speaker 3: Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 13 minutes past
- 23:24Speaker 3: 5 o'clock. And, fellas, I've got a few concerns. And
- 23:29Speaker 3: I'm hoping that, you know, you guys being my buds,
- 23:32Speaker 3: my buddies, you might be able to reassure me because...
- 23:36Speaker 3: I'm worried that my star is fading.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Is it waning?
- 23:41Speaker 3: Yeah, waning. It's probably a better word, Mogie.
- 23:43Speaker 1: What do you mean by that?
- 23:45Speaker 3: Well, you know, there's a lot of people out there, obviously,
- 23:47Speaker 3: that look upon me as a bit of a legend.
- 23:50Speaker 3: You know, top radio DJ, massively successful actor.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Award winning.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Award winning.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Oh, really? That's Mogie. That's Mogie, sorry.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah, no, that was Mogie. I'm sure I probably have
- 24:03Speaker 3: won an award, but I don't, you know, pay attention
- 24:05Speaker 3: to that sort of stuff. You know what I mean?
- 24:07Speaker 3: Top quality voice artist. But something happened just recently that
- 24:12Speaker 3: really shook me to my core. Now, you'll be aware
- 24:15Speaker 3: of the fact that I've been on a very, very
- 24:18Speaker 3: popular television show called Brokenwood.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Oh, the Brokenwood Mysteries.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Yes.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Yes.
- 24:24Speaker 3: As a regular sort of ongoing character.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Ray.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Ray.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Rayness. Rayness. Is it Rayness or Ray? It's first name Ray,
- 24:32Speaker 1: last name Ness. Oh, Rayness.
- 24:35Speaker 3: It's just Ray.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Well, he's got to have a last name. Surely it's Reynis.
- 24:40Speaker 3: You know, and I've been on every series, and I
- 24:43Speaker 3: think it's up to series 14 now. And when they
- 24:47Speaker 3: do the series, they release the cast list, right? And
- 24:50Speaker 3: by every name, there's a number. So your primary character
- 24:54Speaker 3: in any show, the star of the show, if you like,
- 24:57Speaker 3: is generally number one or two on the cast list.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 25:00Speaker 4: He or she.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 25:02Speaker 4: So the main fella there, the curly-haired dude.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Or woman.
- 25:05Speaker 4: I'm talking about Broken Wood Mysteries.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Would be the main, the curly head guy. He'd be
- 25:10Speaker 1: number one. Yes.
- 25:12Speaker 4: And then the woman he solves all the crimes with.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Kirsten.
- 25:15Speaker 1: She'd be number two.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yeah, number two.
- 25:17Speaker 4: And then Hoity J, you should be like top 10
- 25:19Speaker 4: at least, I'm thinking.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Well, I used to be. This is where my concern is.
- 25:23Speaker 3: And it's not really a ranking. It's just sort of
- 25:26Speaker 3: how popular you are and how often you sort of
- 25:29Speaker 3: turn up in the series. Yeah, it's just a ranking. Yeah,
- 25:32Speaker 3: it's kind of a ranking.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Like a talent ranking. It's 100% a ranking.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Ray Nuss.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Ray Nuss. So it is Ray Nuss.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Was always ranked 10.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Oh, number 10.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Number 10.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Top 10.
- 25:45Speaker 3: On the cast list. Now, I'm about to be filming
- 25:49Speaker 3: another episode in the new series. And they've released the
- 25:54Speaker 3: cast list. And Ray.
- 25:57Speaker 1: What's his last name?
- 25:58Speaker 5: Nuss.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Is now, and I kid you not, 54.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Years old?
- 26:06Speaker 3: No, 54 on the list. I used to be 10.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Hang on.
- 26:11Speaker 4: So because I watched, well, admittedly, I half watched an
- 26:14Speaker 4: episode that was centered around.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Have you still not finished?
- 26:16Speaker 1: What does that tell you about it? Keezy didn't even
- 26:18Speaker 1: finish that episode.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Yeah, come on, man.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I can't bring myself to do it.
- 26:21Speaker 4: But so I watched an episode that's centered around Reynos.
- 26:25Speaker 6: Yes.
- 26:25Speaker 1: And it was Reynos' sister. What's her name?
- 26:29Speaker 3: Tracy Nuss.
- 26:32Speaker 4: So it's centered around Tracy Nuss being caught up in
- 26:35Speaker 4: a murder and it happened on Reynolds' premises of his
- 26:38Speaker 4: Italian restaurant, right? Yes. In that episode, there would have
- 26:41Speaker 4: been maximum 15 characters.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Maximum.
- 26:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 1: How are you 54th?
- 26:46Speaker 3: Well, that's my question. I mean, you guys can be
- 26:50Speaker 3: brutally honest with me. Have I reached that point now
- 26:52Speaker 3: where they're sort of shoving me out? Moki, you'd have
- 26:55Speaker 3: a bit of... insight into this.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Well, I know how you're getting down to number four because,
- 26:59Speaker 1: of course, there's six different episodes probably. Is that what
- 27:02Speaker 1: they're doing?
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Six different episodes. Every single episode has got a different
- 27:07Speaker 1: murderer because it's Murder of the Week. So all of
- 27:10Speaker 1: those murderers will be ahead of you because, you know,
- 27:13Speaker 1: they've got a... I thought it was per episode. No,
- 27:14Speaker 1: it's not per episode. And so that's how you will
- 27:17Speaker 1: find yourself so far down. And the reason for that
- 27:19Speaker 1: as well is normally they would want more involvement for you,
- 27:22Speaker 1: as you say, a beloved actor... Ray Norris. Ray Norris,
- 27:25Speaker 1: recognised from shows like... Wellington Parish. Oh, he was in that. Yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 1: two episodes of that. Seven Periods with Mr. Gormsby, Outrageous Fortune,
- 27:38Speaker 1: Young Hercules. Yeah, he has a lot of stuff. I mean,
- 27:40Speaker 1: the list goes on and on and on. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:42Speaker 1: it does. It really does. And we've been with you now, Jase,
- 27:44Speaker 1: doing this show for five years. Every time you go there,
- 27:47Speaker 1: all you do is complain. Yeah. And I've talked to
- 27:50Speaker 1: your co-stars, and they say, oh, do you work with
- 27:53Speaker 1: Hoare J? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Does he only complain when
- 27:58Speaker 1: he's at work with you? Because that's all he does
- 28:00Speaker 1: when he's on set with us.
- 28:01Speaker 3: It's always... Is that what I do with it?
- 28:07Speaker 1: Maybe it's just gotten to the point where they're sort
- 28:09Speaker 1: of read between the lines and they thought, you know what,
- 28:10Speaker 1: Jase doesn't want to tell us this. But maybe Ray
- 28:13Speaker 1: Nass isn't a character that he feels a great affinity
- 28:17Speaker 1: for anymore. Maybe Ray Nass....
- 28:20Speaker 4: Needs to be put out in the back paddock. Maybe
- 28:23Speaker 4: he's too much of a pain in the actual anus.
- 28:25Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Well, even the woman that
- 28:27Speaker 3: plays my mum in the show.
- 28:28Speaker 1: What's her name?
- 28:29Speaker 3: Deidre Nuss.
- 28:32Speaker 1: What about her?
- 28:33Speaker 3: She's ranked higher than me now. She's only appeared once.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Yeah, right.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Bloody outrageous.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, Jase.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Here's some Weezer.
- 28:46Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 28:50Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Tune. Velvet Revolver there on the Hodaki Big Show this
- 28:58Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon, 25 minutes past five o'clock.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Fellas, still to come on the show, a chance to
- 29:03Speaker 4: get yourself in the draw to go to either Bathurst
- 29:05Speaker 4: or the grand final.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Would you rather?
- 29:07Speaker 4: Listen out for that cue to call it. We'll be
- 29:08Speaker 4: playing soonish. And when you hear it, 0800 HODAKI. But
- 29:12Speaker 4: if you want to get a head start on tomorrow
- 29:14Speaker 4: and know exactly when those are going to play, your
- 29:17Speaker 4: best bet is to join the great New Zealanders club.
- 29:19Speaker 4: Head to hodaki.co.nz and sign up there. It has the times,
- 29:24Speaker 4: the exact times of those cuticles tomorrow and Brekkie and our.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Show as well.
- 29:28Speaker 3: How good.
- 29:29Speaker 1: So good. Fellas, I'm going to go ahead and say
- 29:34Speaker 1: that spring has sprung.
- 29:35Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Okay. It's getting a little bit lighter. I don't know
- 29:38Speaker 1: if you've noticed that. A little bit lighter, a little
- 29:41Speaker 1: bit warmer.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Certainly.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I've noticed it, Mokey, for sure.
- 29:44Speaker 1: But the big tell for me is the birds have
- 29:47Speaker 1: started birding around my house. They wake me up at
- 29:52Speaker 1: around about 4 a.m. at the moment. They're going for
- 29:55Speaker 1: it at the moment. And they are just chitting and chatting.
- 30:01Speaker 1: You know, they are stoked at the change of the weather.
- 30:03Speaker 1: They're letting each other know. They're letting other birds know,
- 30:06Speaker 1: probably 5, 10 k's away, that they're awake.
- 30:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 1: You know.
- 30:11Speaker 3: What a day.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Oh.
- 30:13Speaker 3: It's beautiful out. To wit, to woo.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Another day, another dollar.
- 30:17Speaker 6: Yes.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Is that what they're saying?
- 30:18Speaker 3: Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Another day, another dollar. And I'm just wondering, you know,
- 30:24Speaker 1: what are they jabbering about?
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:27Speaker 1: The birds.
- 30:28Speaker 3: The birds.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I mean, what's so important that you've got to be
- 30:31Speaker 1: up at 4 o'clock in the morning running your goddamn
- 30:34Speaker 1: yap while old Mogi's trying to get some Z's in?
- 30:37Speaker 3: Do you think that birds have erotic dreams? Because this
- 30:44Speaker 3: is what it's like in my household. When I wake up,
- 30:47Speaker 3: I've always had a pretty erotic dream. And the first
- 30:50Speaker 3: thing I do is talk to my wife about my
- 30:52Speaker 3: amazing erotic dream.
- 30:54Speaker 1: At 4 a.m.? At 4 a.m., sometimes 3. Well, it's
- 30:58Speaker 1: interesting you say that because they do. That's what bird
- 31:01Speaker 1: behaviorists think. That's what's going on is they're waking up
- 31:04Speaker 1: and they're saying, especially the males, this is my territory
- 31:07Speaker 1: just so you know I'm still here. And, hey, ladies,
- 31:11Speaker 1: if you're keen, I've got a pretty sick nest over
- 31:14Speaker 1: here if you want to come and have a gaze
- 31:15Speaker 1: at it. Is that what they're saying? That's what they're saying.
- 31:17Speaker 3: You want to come and hang out on my branch.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Pretty intense. Yeah, right. I'm just wondering, though, you know.
- 31:24Speaker 1: It's a little bit selfish. And maybe, you know, they
- 31:28Speaker 1: could just delay that chitter-chatter. Is there anything that can't
- 31:30Speaker 1: wait till about 7, 7.30? What's the rush? Until you've
- 31:32Speaker 1: gone to work, man. Until I've gone to work, mate.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And then go for it. Thank you. Yes.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Well, I was staying at an Airbnb a few weeks
- 31:39Speaker 4: back on Waiheke Island there, and they had.
- 31:41Speaker 1: A fake hawk.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Oh, yeah?
- 31:43Speaker 4: A fake hawk with wings that flapped around. It was
- 31:45Speaker 4: like a mechanical hawk thing on a big post.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:49Speaker 4: That didn't seem to work. Pigeons everywhere, to be honest.
- 31:53Speaker 4: But you could look into that.
- 31:56Speaker 1: It just sounds like it's throwing more fuel on the fire,
- 32:00Speaker 1: to be honest with you, because I would have thought
- 32:01Speaker 1: that if you dressed up some kind of a freak
- 32:04Speaker 1: hawk with rotating legs and wings, all the birds are
- 32:08Speaker 1: going to say to each other, come and check this
- 32:11Speaker 1: bastard out. Clown out. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 3: What about a scarecrow? I used to do a bit
- 32:16Speaker 3: of scarecrow work back in the day.
- 32:18Speaker 1: That's right. You did do a bit of scarecrow work,
- 32:21Speaker 1: and that was until they worked out that you could
- 32:22Speaker 1: just use a couple of sticks and a jersey, wasn't it?
- 32:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Look, maybe that would work, but to me it's
- 32:31Speaker 1: a deeper problem that birds have got, and I sort
- 32:33Speaker 1: of feel like culling.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Well, what about– before we move to culling– It's a
- 32:42Speaker 4: territory thing, right?
- 32:43Speaker 1: It is.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Why don't you get up there? Why don't I get
- 32:45Speaker 4: my own nest? Get up there, set up a giant nest.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Just one night is all it takes. Set up a
- 32:50Speaker 4: big nest in the tree there and then wake up
- 32:52Speaker 4: first thing and just let them know who's boss.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Do you know what would really get those male birds good, Keezy?
- 32:57Speaker 1: What's that, man? So if I went up there, imagine that.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I've got a couple of loaves like old Keezy at
- 33:01Speaker 1: a sausage fest, if you can picture that, man. Loaves
- 33:03Speaker 1: of bread, yeah. And I'm in my big nest up there.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I've built it on top of my roof and I'm
- 33:10Speaker 1: just throwing out Throwing out the bread. Throwing out the bread.
- 33:13Speaker 1: And all the lady birds, female birds, are just coming
- 33:16Speaker 1: and hanging out with old Mogi. Right, okay. Right?
- 33:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:19Speaker 1: And then all the male birds are like, oh, this
- 33:21Speaker 1: is a waste of time right here. Look at that.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Look at that sicko. Look at that good looking fella.
- 33:25Speaker 1: He's got bread to burn. What do you think? He's
- 33:27Speaker 1: got a huge impressive beak as well. We can't compete
- 33:29Speaker 1: with that.
- 33:31Speaker 3: I like it.
- 33:33Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 33:37Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yes, indeed, New Zealand. Waz or cars? You decide. Bathurst
- 33:44Speaker 3: or the NRL Grand Final?
- 33:46Speaker 4: Two amazing packages as well. It includes flights. It includes hotels.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Everything taken care of thanks to boystrip.co.nz, including a couple
- 33:55Speaker 4: of shuttles out to Mount Panorama, both Saturday and Sunday
- 33:58Speaker 4: if you choose Bathurst. Or if you choose the grand final,
- 34:01Speaker 4: you get to go to the Renwick races on the Saturday.
- 34:03Speaker 4: Then on the Sunday, a boat cruise to the grand final.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Hell bloody good.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Amazing.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Get it in you. Absolutely amazing, fellas.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Hayley. How's life?
- 34:14Speaker 6: Good, thanks.
- 34:15Speaker 1: And you?
- 34:16Speaker 3: Yeah, good, thanks. Can't complain. Thanks for asking. Tell me, Hayley,
- 34:20Speaker 3: what do you do for a crust?
- 34:22Speaker 1: Uh, office manager.
- 34:25Speaker 6: Ah!
- 34:25Speaker 1: Backbone! What kind of an office? You seem like you're
- 34:29Speaker 1: a little bit coy there, Hayley.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Uh, a doctor's surgery.
- 34:33Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Oh, OK.
- 34:34Speaker 1: You shouldn't have told us that. You need to be
- 34:36Speaker 1: a bit more discreet when it comes to working in
- 34:38Speaker 1: a doctor's surgery.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Wow.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Shocking.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Hey, Hayley, do you like rugby league or do you
- 34:44Speaker 4: like supercars?
- 34:47Speaker 2: Definitely rugby league.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Of course, of course.
- 34:50Speaker 4: And Hayley, if you won this prize, who would you
- 34:52Speaker 4: take with you?
- 34:54Speaker 1: My husband. What's his name? Jeff. Jeff.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Oh, he's a mad bastard. He's a mad dog. Especially
- 35:01Speaker 3: when he gets on the fire water.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Can he still actually go into Aussie? I don't know
- 35:04Speaker 1: if he can.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. Hey, Hayley, good news. You're in
- 35:07Speaker 3: the draw, all right?
- 35:09Speaker 1: Awesome. Thank you.
- 35:10Speaker 3: No worries, mate. G'day, Logan, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Thanks. And yourselves?
- 35:17Speaker 3: Yeah, can't complain, mate. Can't complain. What do you do
- 35:20Speaker 3: for a crust, Logan? I'm a flood restoration technician.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Oh.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Backbone.
- 35:27Speaker 1: It sounds like there's a bit of a more pedestrian
- 35:29Speaker 1: name for that. Would I be right?
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:32Speaker 1: What is it, man?
- 35:33Speaker 3: Technician.
- 35:34Speaker 1: What is it?
- 35:35Speaker 3: A carpet technician.
- 35:36Speaker 1: A carpet technician. Good stuff, Logan. Are you into the NRL, mate,
- 35:42Speaker 1: or are you thinking Bathurst?
- 35:45Speaker 3: I'm up NRL.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Up the wall.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Up the wall. Yeah, totally. Good on you, mate.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Bloody good stuff.
- 35:49Speaker 3: What would you say the split would be so far, fellas?
- 35:52Speaker 3: Are we talking 80-20 for the NRL?
- 35:54Speaker 5: 70-30.
- 35:54Speaker 1: 70-30, I think.
- 35:55Speaker 6: 70-30.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:56Speaker 6: 80-20.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Where'd you get that from?
- 35:57Speaker 3: I don't know, man.
- 35:58Speaker 1: That's completely wrong.
- 35:59Speaker 3: That's off the top of my head. Hey, great news, Logan.
- 36:03Speaker 3: You're in the draw. Stay on the line and Pugs
- 36:04Speaker 3: will sort you out, all right?
- 36:06Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Good on you, mates.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Good on you, Logan. A couple of nice fellas there.
- 36:11Speaker 1: A couple of backbones there. Well, one of them, of course,
- 36:13Speaker 1: was a woman. Not that it matters.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Women are fellas as well, though.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yeah, backbones, that's for sure. Everyone's a fella.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I feel like.
- 36:20Speaker 1: She didn't like being on the phone.
- 36:21Speaker 3: No.
- 36:22Speaker 1: She really wants to win the competition, but it's a
- 36:24Speaker 1: bit nerve-wracking, isn't it, talking to old Rayness. Yeah, it is.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Rayness off old Brokenwood there. Yeah, but I mean.
- 36:32Speaker 3: She obviously freaked out because she gave away everyone's medical
- 36:34Speaker 3: details and stuff, you know, which is pretty shocking. Yeah,
- 36:37Speaker 3: she was freaking out.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Did she just randomly start blurting out? She was like www.medicalrecords.syphilis.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Is that what she said? Actually, if you're going to
- 36:47Speaker 1: yell out www.medicalrecords.syphilis. It's good stuff, fellas.
- 36:57Speaker 4: If you're going to read out a website, read out boystrip.co.nz, fellas,
- 37:00Speaker 4: and book your own trip. NRL Grand Final completely sold out. Bathurst, though,
- 37:04Speaker 4: still a few packages available there, boys.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff, mate. In the meantime, here's a bit
- 37:08Speaker 3: of Blink 182.
- 37:09Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 37:14Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 37:16Speaker 3: The exponents there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 37:19Speaker 3: Tuesday evening. The time is 5.47. We were chatting birds before, fellas.
- 37:25Speaker 3: On that front, Keezy, how's Keezy on all wings looking
- 37:29Speaker 3: over his beak with me? Keezy had a big race
- 37:31Speaker 3: over the weekend. How'd he go?
- 37:32Speaker 5: Keezy on all wings looking over his beak with me.
- 37:37Speaker 6: Keezy.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Very confusing question if you've tuned in for the first
- 37:43Speaker 4: time just now.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Welcome to the show. This is my racing.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Hey, welcome.
- 37:47Speaker 1: This is my.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Racing pigeon racing down south there. Born and raised in Oamaru.
- 37:53Speaker 4: That's where it was hatched. And every single weekend, they
- 37:56Speaker 4: take it to a different location, and it flies back
- 37:58Speaker 4: to the coop.
- 37:59Speaker 1: That's how it works, apparently. Yeah, man.
- 38:01Speaker 4: So I think we've had one, two, three, four, five,
- 38:03Speaker 4: six races so far, fellas.
- 38:05Speaker 1: First race, not good.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Finished in the 90s. Second race in the 70s or something.
- 38:09Speaker 4: And then it was starting to creep up.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Got into the 30s twice, and we figured out it
- 38:14Speaker 4: loves the long distances.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yes.
- 38:16Speaker 4: The weekend just gone. Longest distance so far. It was
- 38:20Speaker 4: Blenheim to Oamaru, 470 kilometres.
- 38:22Speaker 6: Woo!
- 38:25Speaker 4: Take a guess as to where Keezy on all wings
- 38:28Speaker 4: looking over his beak with me, Keezy.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Finished. First.
- 38:31Speaker 5: No. Second.
- 38:34Speaker 6: No.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Bird. Did you say bird?
- 38:36Speaker 6: Third. Oh, no.
- 38:39Speaker 5: Fourth.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Okay, here's a hint. It was outside the top ten.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Eleven.
- 38:44Speaker 6: No.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Twelve.
- 38:46Speaker 1: 18th. Wow.
- 38:49Speaker 6: 18th.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Doesn't it get paid to 15th?
- 38:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it does.
- 38:51Speaker 1: It does. So if you finish 15th, you get $ 100.
- 38:54Speaker 4: 15th all the way up to, I think it's about
- 38:56Speaker 4: 4th or something, then it starts going up. Then if
- 38:58Speaker 4: you finish first, you get $ 1, 000.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Wow.
- 39:01Speaker 4: But the issue is that's the longest race. It's not
- 39:03Speaker 4: going to get longer than that. It clearly wants to
- 39:05Speaker 4: go for a further race. But it's not going to
- 39:08Speaker 4: do any better. You think it wants to, do you?
- 39:10Speaker 1: It wants to. It loves it.
- 39:11Speaker 6: Right.
- 39:12Speaker 1: You mentioned that after the race. I'd love to go
- 39:14Speaker 1: around one more time. Well, I don't know. We had
- 39:17Speaker 1: a chat to him on Friday. We did. I haven't
- 39:19Speaker 1: chatted to him since.
- 39:20Speaker 4: But I'm kind of split because it's like it's not
- 39:22Speaker 4: going to do any better than that.
- 39:24Speaker 6: No.
- 39:25Speaker 1: However, it did finish in the top 20.
- 39:27Speaker 4: So it seems cruel to be like, alright that's it
- 39:29Speaker 4: I'm done with this thing.
- 39:29Speaker 6: To eat it well I wasn't going to eat it
- 39:33Speaker 6: well I mean you don't want to just you can't
- 39:35Speaker 6: waste it waste it Keezy I mean you spent 400
- 39:38Speaker 6: bucks on the bloody thing.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Well I was thinking you just sort of let it
- 39:42Speaker 4: go let it go where You just sort of, you know,
- 39:45Speaker 4: get its nest out of the coop, put it on
- 39:48Speaker 4: the ground and say, oh, away you go.
- 39:49Speaker 3: What about putting it into stud?
- 39:53Speaker 1: Oh. So what does that mean? That's a great idea.
- 39:56Speaker 3: You just farm it out to, you know, for stud.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Right. So as in like a breeder.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Yes.
- 40:04Speaker 4: But how do I get it? Like how am I
- 40:06Speaker 4: supposed to get the other pigeon breeders into it? Like, oh, hey,
- 40:08Speaker 4: do you want this pigeon who sucks?
- 40:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to have to dress it up a
- 40:14Speaker 1: bit more than that.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Like physically dress the pigeon up?
- 40:16Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you could do that.
- 40:17Speaker 3: A little waistcoat?
- 40:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because those are in at the moment. A little
- 40:21Speaker 1: top hat? Yeah, those are in as well. It would
- 40:23Speaker 1: need a bit of rubber band underneath the chin. To
- 40:26Speaker 1: hold the hat on.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Because top hats, they don't really fit. Not on a pigeon, though.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Not on a pigeon. Yeah, you've got to leave it
- 40:34Speaker 1: a little bit. A monocle. A monocle.
- 40:38Speaker 4: But that's tough with pigeons because they... Because they need
- 40:40Speaker 4: that to see where they're going.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Well, if you're going to go monocle, I would go
- 40:44Speaker 3: bow tie as well with the waistcoat.
- 40:48Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know if dressing the pigeon up
- 40:50Speaker 4: like the Monopoly guy is the way to, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 4: solve this issue.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Probably need a cane as well.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Yes, a cane. How's it going to hold a cane, Jase?
- 40:59Speaker 1: It's a pigeon for Christ's sake. I think you just
- 41:00Speaker 1: strap it to one of its legs.
- 41:01Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Well, we'll try that.
- 41:07Speaker 5: And then....
- 41:09Speaker 1: And see if you can put it out to stud. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I mean, imagine if you're a female pigeon. You've got
- 41:16Speaker 1: all these pigeons that sort of walk through the door there.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Regular-looking pigeons. Standard-looking bastards there. And who should walk in
- 41:23Speaker 1: the door?
- 41:24Speaker 5: Keezy.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Keezy on all wings. Looking over his beak.
- 41:28Speaker 3: With me, Keezy.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Looking like a real sharp son of a bee. How
- 41:32Speaker 1: much should I be charging?
- 41:33Speaker 3: Yeah, for his seed.
- 41:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 41:37Speaker 1: It's birdseed. Like, what, 20 bucks?
- 41:42Speaker 5: Huh?
- 41:43Speaker 1: $ 20? For a hoon?
- 41:46Speaker 5: Feels?
- 41:49Speaker 3: Feels?
- 41:51Speaker 1: Here's Audioslip.
- 41:55Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 41:58Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive bank bones. Hope your Tuesday nights
- 42:03Speaker 3: are absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show,
- 42:06Speaker 3: by the way, brought to you by Reburgure.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburgure.
- 42:13Speaker 3: The name's burger.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Dish, dish, dish.
- 42:16Speaker 3: Reburgure. Yeah, good stuff. What's on the plate tonight, Mogi?
- 42:23Speaker 1: Oh, Mogi over there. I'm not entirely sure, once again.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I never know, do I? I never know. The wife
- 42:30Speaker 1: has got her mother, brother and sister staying at the moment.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Yes.
- 42:34Speaker 1: So I'm hoping it's a delicious treat.
- 42:37Speaker 3: A feast.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Yeah, last night there was a roast chicken.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't mind that.
- 42:42Speaker 1: With selected roast vegetables, et cetera, et cetera. But I
- 42:44Speaker 1: was already full. You remember that I was eating here.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Yes, but I bet you had a massive plate of it.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I didn't touch it. I didn't touch it. I didn't
- 42:50Speaker 1: go anywhere near it. I had a bit of it
- 42:52Speaker 1: for lunch today. But yeah, I'm not sure what I'm having.
- 42:55Speaker 1: What are you having, Keezy?
- 42:56Speaker 5: Chris. Chris.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Hello. Christopher. Sorry, Michael, Jase. Sorry about that. You're on
- 43:00Speaker 1: the radio.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Well, I was telling you guys before about we've got
- 43:04Speaker 4: a third day ragu situation.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 4: So what I've done is we've slow cooked a ragu.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Then I pulled the pot out of the slow cooker,
- 43:10Speaker 4: put it in the fridge. And then yesterday, I put
- 43:12Speaker 4: it back in the slow cooker on low.
- 43:13Speaker 1: And heated it up again.
- 43:14Speaker 4: And then I put it in the fridge again last night.
- 43:17Speaker 4: And I'm like, can we have a three-day ragout that's
- 43:19Speaker 4: been hot, cold, hot, cold?
- 43:20Speaker 1: I don't think we can.
- 43:21Speaker 3: No, you have to biff it.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Do you think two times is the limit?
- 43:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. Biff it.
- 43:27Speaker 1: There must be some sort of science behind it.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Get some re-burger.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Oh, I'd love to.
- 43:31Speaker 4: Jase, if I could just get re-burger every night for dinner,
- 43:34Speaker 4: and to be honest, lunch and breakfast, I would.
- 43:35Speaker 1: You know that. Yes, for sure.
- 43:36Speaker 4: But at the end of the day... a third day
- 43:40Speaker 4: ragu might be my only option.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Three to four days is the word I'm getting, Keezy.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Of hot, cold, hot, cold? Hot, cold, hot, cold. The
- 43:47Speaker 1: in and out part matters. Reheating it doesn't reset the
- 43:50Speaker 1: three to four day clock and ideally don't repeatedly warm
- 43:52Speaker 1: the whole batch and put it back. You're just taking
- 43:54Speaker 1: out the parts that you need. Ideally.
- 43:55Speaker 3: No, I wasn't.
- 43:56Speaker 1: You're reheating the whole batch.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Because it's in a pot.
- 44:01Speaker 4: It's like a slow cooker pot right yes and it
- 44:03Speaker 4: looks like it's it looks like it's less than there
- 44:07Speaker 4: is gone off oh and so you're like oh that'll
- 44:09Speaker 4: be enough for us tomorrow and then you eat it
- 44:10Speaker 4: and you're like oh my god we didn't even touch
- 44:12Speaker 4: it right so yeah it's a bit of a blowout
- 44:14Speaker 4: to be honest yeah that's a shocker I know thanks.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Hey just a reminder on that front text us now
- 44:19Speaker 3: on 3483 what's for tea in New Zealand we'll be
- 44:22Speaker 3: getting into that.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Next yeah you can win yourself a $ 50 re-burger voucher it's.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Bloody tricky with that ragu Keezy I know man.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I'd biff it man Seriously.
- 44:30Speaker 1: He's mute.
- 44:31Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 44:35Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Yes, indeed.
- 44:38Speaker 6: R.E.M.
- 44:38Speaker 3: There on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening.
- 44:43Speaker 3: The time is 6.13, which means it's time for.
- 44:46Speaker 5: Hey, guys.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Text here from Steve.
- 44:50Speaker 1: What's for tea, New Zealand? With me, Keezy. Yeah, that's right.
- 44:56Speaker 4: What's for tea? Text in 3483, let us know. Include
- 45:00Speaker 4: your name and where you're texting from. That always makes
- 45:01Speaker 4: it a bit nicer, eh, fellas?
- 45:03Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Chicken wraps.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I had a chicken wrap today.
- 45:07Speaker 5: Did you?
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a bit of a weird one. I
- 45:09Speaker 1: went along to a big meeting, big highfalutin meeting there,
- 45:12Speaker 1: and they said, do you want something to eat? And
- 45:13Speaker 1: I should have just said either no or a scone.
- 45:17Speaker 1: But I had a tandoori chicken wrap.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Which had lots of spinach in it all over my teeth. Shocker.
- 45:24Speaker 6: Oh, good.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Didn't go very well at all. Then he blew the meeting.
- 45:27Speaker 1: It was his big pitch. I shat the bed, which
- 45:30Speaker 1: was a separate issue. G'day, guys. Henry here.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Kissinger.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Henry Hill from the movie Goodfellas.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Matt.
- 45:41Speaker 1: It's Henry Matt. Henry Matt.
- 45:43Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Henry Matt having bangers and mash.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Cheers. Love bangers and mash.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean.
- 45:48Speaker 1: I love a saucy one.
- 45:49Speaker 3: You've got to have some sort of saucy action to
- 45:51Speaker 3: go with the mash.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Yeah, is there no gravy there? Does he mention a
- 45:53Speaker 1: brown onion gravy?
- 45:55Speaker 3: Devil sauce, mate? <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 45:58Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 46:00Speaker 4: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 46:04Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 46:08Speaker 3: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 46:10Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> for his bloody roast.
- 46:17Speaker 1: You remember that? Yeah, I remember that. That was a shocker.
- 46:21Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Jason here.
- 46:23Speaker 5: Hoyt.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Winstanley. What, the boss of all of our stations?
- 46:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good stuff.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Dave.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Jason Day. Jason Nightingale. Sorry, it's actually Jackson. Sorry, I
- 46:38Speaker 1: misread that.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Michael.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Pollock.
- 46:40Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Michael Jackson here from dirty old Invercargill taking the miso
- 46:44Speaker 4: out to the beach with some bento bowls.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Sounds lovely. I don't like bento bowls.
- 46:48Speaker 3: No, neither do I.
- 46:50Speaker 6: No.
- 46:50Speaker 3: I'm not a fan.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I don't like them at all.
- 46:51Speaker 3: I mean, they're good in theory.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the idea's good.
- 46:54Speaker 3: But they're foul.
- 46:55Speaker 1: They're shocking.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Disgusting.
- 46:57Speaker 4: So bento bowls got some nice salad or something in it,
- 47:01Speaker 4: like some chicken.
- 47:02Speaker 1: What's wrong with that? I don't know, it's just got...
- 47:06Speaker 1: It thinks it's better than it is. It's more of
- 47:08Speaker 1: an attitude issue.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Oh, it's got a bad attitude. And I hate... Yeah,
- 47:11Speaker 1: it's pretty full of itself, and it's always got the
- 47:13Speaker 1: edamame in it.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Yes.
- 47:14Speaker 1: On its own, but not inside the little packets.
- 47:17Speaker 3: I don't like how it's compartmentalised. You know, each little
- 47:21Speaker 3: pile of stuff, just chuck it in there and mix
- 47:24Speaker 3: it up, man.
- 47:25Speaker 4: So, just Mogi referred to the... Is it the shell
- 47:27Speaker 4: that edamame's come in as packets?
- 47:29Speaker 1: Yeah, they're our little packets. Like a packet of chips. Yeah, yeah,
- 47:32Speaker 1: you're right, you're right. You know? G'day there, fellas. Who's that?
- 47:37Speaker 1: This is from Dino. Oh, Dino Gorman.
- 47:39Speaker 3: O'Kane.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Dino O'Kane. G'day, guys.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Dino here. I'm having chicken and leek pie with a
- 47:46Speaker 4: bit of cracked pepper.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Good eating.
- 47:48Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I love pie. So do I.
- 47:50Speaker 3: Chicken and leek, I'm fond of, too.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I haven't had a chicken and leek pie for ages.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Go round old Dino's place, man.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Yeah, man. He'll sort you in. Old Dino O'Kane.
- 47:59Speaker 1: He'll sort you right out, if you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 48:01Speaker 1: I do. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:03Speaker 4: G'day fellas Sarah here.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex and the City just.
- 48:11Speaker 4: So you guys know at any point we can park
- 48:13Speaker 4: this whole.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Sarah Jessica Parker did you say?
- 48:18Speaker 4: And if you want I can just read them out
- 48:19Speaker 4: Sarah there must be more than that in terms of
- 48:22Speaker 4: Sarah's you'd think there'd be dozens of the bastards Silverman?
- 48:25Speaker 3: No who was the royal?
- 48:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah oh Princess Sarah yeah what do they call her?
- 48:32Speaker 3: Big Red Is it Big Red?
- 48:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's Big Red. G'day, guys. Sarah Ferguson.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Ferguson, yeah, that's it. Big Red.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Man bastard. G'day, guys. Fergie here.
- 48:46Speaker 4: My wife's having pumpkin and kumara soup, and I'm doing
- 48:49Speaker 4: chicken burgers in the air fryer.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Cheers.
- 48:51Speaker 6: Fergie.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Gee, she's fallen a long way, isn't she?
- 48:55Speaker 3: She is.
- 48:57Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 49:01Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Chemical Brothers there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 49:06Speaker 3: Tuesday night. And Tuesday night's always a big night on
- 49:08Speaker 3: the Big Show because it's Teamless Tuesday.
- 49:12Speaker 4: Time to chat footy with me, Keithy. What are the
- 49:16Speaker 4: Warriors up to?
- 49:18Speaker 1: The Wads. The Wads.
- 49:21Speaker 3: The Wads.
- 49:24Speaker 4: They're taking on the Dolphins 6pm this very Saturday. If
- 49:27Speaker 4: you don't have a ticket yet, because it's completely sold out,
- 49:30Speaker 4: listen to the big show tomorrow. Listen out for a
- 49:32Speaker 4: cue to call. It sounds like this. Which is kind
- 49:40Speaker 4: of like their new team song. If you hear that
- 49:42Speaker 4: during our show, call us on 0800 Hauraki and you
- 49:45Speaker 4: can win a double pass to the sold-out home final mogi.
- 49:47Speaker 1: That's absolutely right. We've got the team list here, fellas,
- 49:51Speaker 1: and here it is. Your fullback is Tain Toa Piki.
- 49:54Speaker 3: Oh, wow, OK.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Chance Nichol-Cluckstart is on the wing.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 49:59Speaker 1: He's on the wing. Your other winger is AKP.
- 50:01Speaker 3: OK, yeah.
- 50:02Speaker 1: CNK is alongside Ali Laotawa.
- 50:06Speaker 5: Who is?
- 50:06Speaker 4: So Ali Leotawa is on the right centre with Chance
- 50:09Speaker 4: Licklick-Cluck-Star outside him.
- 50:10Speaker 1: That's correct. Then you've got Leka with AKP in your halves,
- 50:14Speaker 1: CHT and Tamari Martin. Your forwards, James Fisher-Harris, Wade Egan
- 50:19Speaker 1: returns after getting a week off to rest. Mitch Barnett,
- 50:23Speaker 1: Kate Welbeck from wrestling, Jacob Laban and Aaron Clark. Then
- 50:26Speaker 1: on the interchange, you've got Sam Healy, Tanner Stowers-Smith, Dimitri Valmonga,
- 50:31Speaker 1: Eddie Iremia, Toyava, and Adam Pompey, and Jackson Ford. Jackson's back.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Makes his return to the bench after 12 weeks off,
- 50:39Speaker 1: after leading the Dell EMS all the way up to,
- 50:42Speaker 1: I think, around 14, it might have been. Yeah. He
- 50:45Speaker 1: is back, baby. That's huge, man.
- 50:47Speaker 4: That's great because that starting pack makes me very excited.
- 50:51Speaker 4: You've got the solid, your Cape Wells, Wade Egan, and
- 50:56Speaker 4: James Fisher-Harris.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Those guys have been so solid for us. But then
- 50:58Speaker 1: you've got that young flair.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Jacob Laban. Aaron Clark has been so mean all season.
- 51:02Speaker 4: And then Jackson Port off the bench.
- 51:04Speaker 1: How good.
- 51:05Speaker 3: How good. Sounds like a strong side, fellas.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I'm stoked. It's a very, very strong side. And on
- 51:10Speaker 1: the other side of the ledger there, you've got the Dolphins,
- 51:13Speaker 1: who are at full strength. We played twice over the
- 51:18Speaker 1: course of the season already. Each side won one, lost one. Yes.
- 51:22Speaker 1: And each game was decided by only two points.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and the Dolphins are a team. Offensively, they can
- 51:30Speaker 4: pile on points in a hurry. They're one of the
- 51:32Speaker 4: best in the entire competition. If they get their tails up.
- 51:34Speaker 4: Next thing you know, their fullback, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidal, will have
- 51:37Speaker 4: a hat trick. You know, they've got really young, skucky,
- 51:41Speaker 4: tricky halves as well. So to be honest, Mogi, you
- 51:44Speaker 4: talked about this, I believe it was last week or
- 51:47Speaker 4: yesterday even. I can't remember because I was hungover. But
- 51:49Speaker 4: I have a feeling they're going to throw it wide
- 51:51Speaker 4: and try to go around us.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. And you'd be mad not to
- 51:54Speaker 1: have a crack at it. It'll be interesting to see
- 51:57Speaker 1: how they go. There's a lot of repair work to
- 51:59Speaker 1: be done to the outside back, so I think you're
- 52:02Speaker 1: just going to find we're going to be doing a
- 52:03Speaker 1: lot of rushing defence. Yeah. And if that happens, of course,
- 52:06Speaker 1: it opens up for grubbers in behind and all sorts
- 52:09Speaker 1: of stuff. I think, regardless of the tactics, I think
- 52:12Speaker 1: it's going to be an open game. I think it's probably,
- 52:15Speaker 1: I think, I think it's the game of the round.
- 52:17Speaker 4: It's a huge match-up, and I'm worried about that right-side
- 52:21Speaker 4: wing of Lea Tawa and Chance the Cluckstar, because they're
- 52:24Speaker 4: not fast. They've got Salwin Kobo, I believe it is.
- 52:27Speaker 4: He's in supreme form on the left wing. If they score,
- 52:31Speaker 4: I can see him getting a double or something.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and I do like having Chance there. I like
- 52:36Speaker 1: him on the wing, carrying out of the back end,
- 52:39Speaker 1: a bigger body, all that sort of stuff. So, yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 1: I'm glad they've managed to get both of them on there,
- 52:42Speaker 1: and Tawapiki at full-back means that we've got a goal kicker.
- 52:45Speaker 6: Hopefully.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff, fellas.
- 52:47Speaker 1: I'm fizzed up, guys.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Let's do it.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Don't forget, listen to the show tomorrow. Listen out for
- 52:51Speaker 4: that cuticle. You can win a double to that sold-out
- 52:53Speaker 4: home final.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Beautiful.
- 52:57Speaker 2: The Hauraki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 53:01Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big
- 53:12Speaker 3: show done and dusted this Tuesday on the Disclaimer Podcast.
- 53:16Speaker 3: What clip have you got for us today, Keezy?
- 53:19Speaker 4: Fellas, today's clip is all about waking up.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 53:22Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of banging on about waking
- 53:24Speaker 4: up and that. It comes out at 7.30 tonight, wherever
- 53:26Speaker 4: you get your podcasts from.
- 53:29Speaker 3: See you later, bogey!
- 53:31Speaker 1: From the footpath.
- 53:32Speaker 4: It's f * * * ing.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Six in the morning, man.
- 53:34Speaker 6: I know.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Carpet your houses, man. Carpet them up.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Well, I do have carpet in the apartment.
- 53:38Speaker 1: What, down the hallway?
- 53:39Speaker 3: But it turned out, it turned out for the door.
- 53:45Speaker 1: That's right, yeah. Things kind of got a wee bit
- 53:47Speaker 1: out of hand there.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Bit of fisticuffs.
- 53:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Family time by the sounds of it tonight, Mogi.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Well, no, I've got a play to go to.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Oh, that's right, yes.
- 53:54Speaker 1: I'm going to go and see the Mangrove Eaters down
- 53:58Speaker 1: there at Basement Theatre.
- 53:59Speaker 3: How good, how good.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I'll let you know how that goes tomorrow. That's on
- 54:03Speaker 1: at 8 o'clock, so I've got time to get home
- 54:05Speaker 1: for 5 or 10 minutes, spruce myself up a little bit,
- 54:08Speaker 1: put on a suit, do the dishes, mop the floor,
- 54:13Speaker 1: clean the bath a little bit, Bath. I've got to
- 54:16Speaker 1: watch a movie. Oh, yeah. I've got to watch a movie. Yes,
- 54:18Speaker 1: I'll watch that. And then, yeah, that'll be me after
- 54:21Speaker 1: the play. I'll tell you what. I'll let you know
- 54:22Speaker 1: how it goes tomorrow. What are you up to there, Keezy, man?
- 54:25Speaker 4: I'm going to go home there. I've got a text
- 54:27Speaker 4: from my wife. We're not having leftover three-day ragout.
- 54:30Speaker 3: I'm having curry. Yeah, thank God for that. Chicken curry. Yeah, nice.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I think it's a green curry. I messaged her before
- 54:36Speaker 1: because apparently she's got some tickets for sales.
- 54:39Speaker 4: Yeah, she's selling tickets to Chris Parker on Saturday night.
- 54:42Speaker 4: She's gutted, the comedian, because she really wants to go,
- 54:44Speaker 4: but we're going to.
- 54:45Speaker 1: The Warriors instead now.
- 54:46Speaker 4: And then you messaged her on her Instagram, and then
- 54:49Speaker 4: she texts me being like, is Moki serious?
- 54:51Speaker 1: And then I messaged her saying, no, he's not.
- 54:54Speaker 3: She won't even let me on her Instagram. She's not
- 54:56Speaker 3: letting me in.
- 54:57Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 54:58Speaker 3: Well, she's, you know, because it's private, her account.
- 55:02Speaker 4: So your friend requested her?
- 55:03Speaker 3: Yes, and she said no.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Have you tried poking her?
- 55:13Speaker 3: I'll give that a try, Keezy. You think that'll be good?
- 55:17Speaker 1: I think so. I mean, in my experience. What are
- 55:23Speaker 1: you up to tonight, Jase?
- 55:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good question, because I.
- 55:27Speaker 3: The thing is, as we talked about... Oh, do we
- 55:28Speaker 3: have to?
- 55:29Speaker 1: No, listen.
- 55:31Speaker 3: This is true. It was on the disclaimer. We all
- 55:33Speaker 3: had terrible sleeps last night. But the problem is, if
- 55:38Speaker 3: you go to bed early, right, I tend to wake
- 55:41Speaker 3: up early because I only seem to have a certain
- 55:44Speaker 3: amount of time for sleep. And once that's up, then
- 55:48Speaker 3: it's up.
- 55:48Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 55:49Speaker 3: So I'll probably try and stay awake as long as possible.
- 55:53Speaker 3: See you tomorrow at 4pm.
