- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, I guess, Michelle, right, And I'm
- 0:04Speaker 1: here and it's raining outside like a bunch, which is nice,
- 0:09Speaker 1: I guess, except it's really humid in here. It's like
- 0:12Speaker 1: chili outside. But then if I put on a dehumidifier
- 0:16Speaker 1: or something, then it gets warm in here and not
- 0:18Speaker 1: less human somehow, so all the bad things basically, So
- 0:22Speaker 1: my windows are open, and I'm a little chilly and
- 0:25Speaker 1: really like uncomfortable.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Because it's just sticky.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And now, you know, for some reason, I don't know
- 0:31Speaker 1: why it's cool today, but I'm sure it will just
- 0:34Speaker 1: never be again, so I better like really relish in it,
- 0:37Speaker 1: which I'm totally not doing. Anyway, we're gonna talk about Lane,
- 0:42Speaker 1: but I wanted to tell you about a couple of
- 0:44Speaker 1: announcements anime wise. They're not that cool or important, but
- 0:48Speaker 1: I figured you might want to know. So the anime
- 0:51Speaker 1: Fool Night is gonna be released at some point this
- 0:55Speaker 1: year on Netflix.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I guess.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It's based on a manga by the same name, and
- 0:59Speaker 1: I have not read this manga at all, but people
- 1:03Speaker 1: seem to be excited and it's about like in the
- 1:05Speaker 1: future where there's not plants anymore, but we like need plants,
- 1:08Speaker 1: so we start turning people into plants, and is that okay.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It doesn't sound like it's okay. It sounds like it's
- 1:14Speaker 1: a bad idea, but we're doing it, so that's what
- 1:17Speaker 1: it's about. I think it's sane in if I'm remembering correctly.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I just looked at this like twenty minutes ago, so yeah,
- 1:24Speaker 1: so that'll be fun whenever the hell that comes out.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I think it's being animated by.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Shaft, which is pretty cool.
- 1:31Speaker 1: So there's that. And then I just was looking on
- 1:34Speaker 1: the internet and I saw that there's new art for
- 1:38Speaker 1: the new One Piece reboot. The beginning is called Romance Dawn,
- 1:43Speaker 1: and it's going to be airing in February twenty twenty seven.
- 1:47Speaker 1: We finally have a date for it. We may have
- 1:49Speaker 1: already had one, but I didn't know. So now I know,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and you also know, So I guess get psyched if
- 1:57Speaker 1: you like One Piece.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I saw like one Piece.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I don't know if we've talked about this before, but
- 2:04Speaker 1: I think I'm in like episode four eighty something or whatever.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I just it got to the point where there was
- 2:11Speaker 1: so much filler and so many like reaction shots, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: every episode felt like it was a total of five
- 2:19Speaker 1: minutes of new actual content, and I just couldn't do
- 2:24Speaker 1: it anymore. But I do kind of like the story,
- 2:28Speaker 1: like corrupt government stories, as you may know, So it's
- 2:34Speaker 1: kind of my thing, even though like pirates, and so
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm very excited about the possibility of seeing it in
- 2:42Speaker 1: a more condensed and potentially better animated format. So yeah,
- 2:47Speaker 1: now you know or something besides that, we're coming up
- 2:51Speaker 1: on summer anime season and I don't know what's going
- 2:55Speaker 1: on yet, but things are going to happen. I'm sure
- 2:57Speaker 1: I know that there's at least one show that I'm
- 2:59Speaker 1: soon we're excited about, but I don't remember what it's called.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yay stuff, I.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Can't tell you.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Awesome, I'll remember when I do it.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Then i'll tell you about it, I guess.
- 3:10Speaker 1: But anyway, let's talk about Lane episode ten, which is
- 3:15Speaker 1: called Love, which yeah, yeah, yeah, I think this is
- 3:21Speaker 1: probably the best title for this episode that there could
- 3:23Speaker 1: have been, So I'll like big high five to the
- 3:28Speaker 1: uh whoever decided to call it this. So, if you
- 3:31Speaker 1: remember from last week, we ended with Lane like facing
- 3:36Speaker 1: down this dude with long hair and like a lab
- 3:42Speaker 1: coat with like tape wrapped around him, just standing in
- 3:46Speaker 1: the middle of the street. Yeah, so we kind of
- 3:50Speaker 1: do start there, but first we do all the normal
- 3:53Speaker 1: stuff we do present day, present time. Yeah, that's not
- 4:00Speaker 1: quite working out, but whatever. Anyway, then we have the
- 4:02Speaker 1: opening theme yay, and then some more normal shit and
- 4:06Speaker 1: for the first time in this show, there's like those
- 4:10Speaker 1: buildings and shit, and there's no like voiceover over them,
- 4:14Speaker 1: like nobody is telling us anything, which I just didn't
- 4:17Speaker 1: think was ever gonna happen. And then we go to
- 4:20Speaker 1: the title card Love Layer ten and I checked again
- 4:25Speaker 1: and it does still say make me sad, make me
- 4:28Speaker 1: feel in the background, So that's just a part of
- 4:32Speaker 1: this that I didn't know. Wow, I guess at least
- 4:36Speaker 1: from the title card, we see some humming wires and
- 4:39Speaker 1: telephone poles on a blinding white sky and we're like
- 4:43Speaker 1: panning down the pole, and then we go to a
- 4:46Speaker 1: close up of Lane's eye and she says there's only
- 4:49Speaker 1: one truth. God Sure, we see that she's standing in
- 4:54Speaker 1: the middle of the streets looking over her shoulder, kind
- 4:57Speaker 1: of freaked out, and she turns and and she faces
- 5:00Speaker 1: that dude. So we actually came back exactly where we
- 5:05Speaker 1: ended in the last episode, which has not happened in
- 5:07Speaker 1: Lane so far, so that's kind of cool. The guy
- 5:10Speaker 1: who last time I said, had like black electrical tape
- 5:13Speaker 1: wrapped around his like kind of waists and arms. It's
- 5:18Speaker 1: its upper arms and also like around his like thighs.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It's not electrical tape because.
- 5:24Speaker 2: It's blue, so I don't know what it is.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It could be like scraps of cloth. It could be
- 5:29Speaker 1: a different type of tape, but it's something.
- 5:31Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And he's also wearing jeans with the lab coat. He
- 5:35Speaker 1: also looks like real thin, like I can see his rims.
- 5:39Speaker 1: He looks a little emaciated. This is just kind of weird.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And his lab coat is kind of like floating, like
- 5:46Speaker 1: it's kind of up a bit, you know, like it's
- 5:49Speaker 1: not being affected by gravity, which is kind of weird.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And he says, yes, it's me. His voice has like
- 5:57Speaker 1: a ton of reverb on it, which makes no sense
- 6:00Speaker 1: for the scene, which is I guess what we're going for,
- 6:04Speaker 1: and Lane just kind of like stares at him and
- 6:07Speaker 1: then tilts her head. We cut to those train tracks
- 6:10Speaker 1: in the last episode with the little thirteen sign on
- 6:12Speaker 1: it in the rain. I guess because it's a crime
- 6:14Speaker 1: scene and lots of people, who I am assuming our
- 6:17Speaker 1: police are kind of standing around and doing stuff. We
- 6:20Speaker 1: get a close up of Lane and she says, so
- 6:23Speaker 1: you're the God of the Wired. Oh God, I guess
- 6:27Speaker 1: still has that creepy smile on he did from last episode.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And he's like, yes, I'm your true God. It looks
- 6:34Speaker 1: like it's sunset by the way, and got all those
- 6:37Speaker 1: red splotchy shadows.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Again.
- 6:40Speaker 1: God continues, I just don't understand how it can be possible.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Why are you God? What you just said that you
- 6:49Speaker 1: were the God of the Wired? Wait what I'll come
- 6:52Speaker 1: back to this at the end of this section. Anyway,
- 6:54Speaker 1: Lay narrows her eyes and she's like, Lay narrows her eyes.
- 6:58Speaker 1: God continues, You're dead, aren't you? A dead human being?
- 7:02Speaker 1: Is impossible for someone like that to become a god?
- 7:04Speaker 1: Is Laane kind of looks down, almost looks like she's
- 7:08Speaker 1: in a trance, and then, with lots of reverb on
- 7:10Speaker 1: her voice, now says, you see, I realized that had
- 7:14Speaker 1: no need for a body. Today merely means you have
- 7:17Speaker 1: abandoned the flesh. God kind of makes a little gasp,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and then he's like that's right, that's what Chisa said. Uh,
- 7:25Speaker 1: what we see Chisa like letting go of the rail
- 7:28Speaker 1: on the roof and then her falling, Like basically it's
- 7:31Speaker 1: just a clip from the first episode. And then we
- 7:33Speaker 1: see that psychedelic screen, which I totally forgot existed and
- 7:37Speaker 1: I think only existed in the first episode or maybe
- 7:40Speaker 1: the second went too, and it says, I don't need
- 7:43Speaker 1: to remain here. Then we cut to Chisa's standing like
- 7:46Speaker 1: on the street like I think she did in episode
- 7:48Speaker 1: one or two for a second, and then back to Lane.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Lane says, I suppose she did.
- 7:53Speaker 2: She looks up at God.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I made the protocol that governs the wired's ability to evolve.
- 7:58Speaker 1: What God smiles, That's right, that's exactly what you did.
- 8:04Speaker 1: But a protocol is nothing more than a simple agreement.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Lane's like, yes, but I then incorporated some code that
- 8:11Speaker 1: operates on a much higher phase. No one had ever
- 8:14Speaker 1: seen anything like it before. God's like, so Lane furrows
- 8:19Speaker 1: her brow and then looks up at him again. There's
- 8:22Speaker 1: compressed information that's been secretly mixed into the system protocol.
- 8:26Speaker 1: God raises his eyebrow. What kind of information? Lane's like,
- 8:31Speaker 1: human memories and all of them are mine? What not
- 8:34Speaker 1: only the human memories of Masamieiri, but my thoughts, history
- 8:38Speaker 1: and emotions. Okay, what God says, I see? But then
- 8:43Speaker 1: what does all of this add up to. Lane's like,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I can live forever as an anonymous entity, unrestricted in
- 8:49Speaker 1: the wired, and I'll be able to rule it with
- 8:51Speaker 1: unlimited information, God says, And what do you think of
- 8:55Speaker 1: being like that should be called? Lane is quiet for
- 8:58Speaker 1: a second, and then she's like God, God says, but
- 9:02Speaker 1: there is no God. Lane's like, yes, even if I
- 9:09Speaker 1: was some kind of omnipresent being and could influence others
- 9:12Speaker 1: with no one to worship me, I'm not.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Really a god.
- 9:16Speaker 1: God says, yeah, but you had them or made them,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I should say. Lane's like the knights. They just kind
- 9:24Speaker 1: of stare at each other for a while, and then
- 9:27Speaker 1: we cut to the power lines on the white sky again,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and then back to Lane, and God is gone, but
- 9:33Speaker 1: we hear him say, just remember you no longer need
- 9:36Speaker 1: a body.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Lane.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Laine looks stunned for a moment and then kind of annoyed,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and then she says, without any reverb, that's a lie,
- 9:43Speaker 1: you know it. We fade to black. Okay, let me
- 9:47Speaker 1: stop there. So this was really confusing to me, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: I was trying to figure out what this even meant
- 9:52Speaker 1: because it doesn't make any sense. I mean, like what
- 9:54Speaker 1: they're saying makes sense.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It's that Masamie Aby has kind of coded himself into
- 10:01Speaker 1: the Wired, and I'm I apologize I was pronouncing his
- 10:04Speaker 1: name wrong last week. I think I was pronouncing it
- 10:06Speaker 1: as like Edie, and I published the episode and then
- 10:09Speaker 1: I was like, what the fuck, Michelle, you know how
- 10:10Speaker 1: to pronounce Ei. It's a so sorry about that. So
- 10:15Speaker 1: eighty moss to be eighty. So it's obviously him. He
- 10:20Speaker 1: has kind of put himself, his memories, his thoughts and
- 10:23Speaker 1: feelings are in the Wired with you know, the seventh
- 10:26Speaker 1: Protocol and the like earth resonance frequency of like eight
- 10:29Speaker 1: hertz that's in there and everything. So I assume he
- 10:33Speaker 1: essentially is God, and that this person in front of
- 10:36Speaker 1: Lane with the long hair and that's really creepy looking
- 10:40Speaker 1: is a personification of him, and that he created the
- 10:45Speaker 1: Knights or something so that they could worship him. I'm
- 10:48Speaker 1: not really sure, but my question here was like, why
- 10:52Speaker 1: are they saying what they're saying. It seems like the
- 10:56Speaker 1: dialogue flipped and in this converse, the man, the Masumi
- 11:03Speaker 1: eighty character was Lane, and Lane was him, like it
- 11:08Speaker 1: was the backwards conversation, like he was saying what he
- 11:11Speaker 1: thought that she would say, and she was saying what
- 11:14Speaker 1: she thought he would say or something. And I don't
- 11:16Speaker 1: know why this was done like that. It's very obvious
- 11:18Speaker 1: that Laine wouldn't have said any of these things because
- 11:21Speaker 1: it just doesn't make sense. And she I do not
- 11:24Speaker 1: think is Masumi eighty unless she is, and I'm wrong,
- 11:30Speaker 1: but yeah, I just it was a really weird way
- 11:33Speaker 1: to do It's really interesting choice. And I mean, I
- 11:37Speaker 1: guess it worked if that's what it was supposed to be.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I don't know, guys, I mean, I could be totally wrong,
- 11:44Speaker 1: but it just didn't feel like Lane was Laine during
- 11:46Speaker 1: that interaction, especially because at the very end, after you know,
- 11:50Speaker 1: she's been saying like, oh, you know, I didn't need
- 11:52Speaker 1: a body anymore and all of that stuff, she's like,
- 11:55Speaker 1: that's a lie. So it's like that was her coming
- 11:58Speaker 1: back into her body. And also you know, God was like, oh,
- 12:03Speaker 1: that's what Shesa said, and that felt like it should
- 12:06Speaker 1: have been Lane's dialogue. So I just this was.
- 12:09Speaker 2: A really weird way to do this.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's my take on the scene. And I
- 12:14Speaker 1: could just be really really wrong and confused because I
- 12:17Speaker 1: am not that smart, but yeah, that's that's what I
- 12:21Speaker 1: got out of it. Anyway, back to the episode, we
- 12:25Speaker 1: see Lane closing the door behind her. She's entering her classroom,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and you know, all the other girls in class are
- 12:32Speaker 1: having conversations. I guess you know, the lesson hasn't started yet,
- 12:36Speaker 1: and they're all saying a bunch of things, and some
- 12:37Speaker 1: girl says, I lied and told him I'm dating another guy,
- 12:41Speaker 1: and the other girl next to her laughs, which I
- 12:43Speaker 1: guess is funny. I mean, sometimes you've got to do
- 12:46Speaker 1: that so people will leave you alone. But whatever. Lane
- 12:49Speaker 1: looks really worried, and she looks over at Alice and Rega,
- 12:52Speaker 1: who are standing kind of over Judy's desk, and Alice
- 12:55Speaker 1: to Judy says, what do you think you're gonna tell him?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Judy's like, I don't know, I'll just say I'm not interested. Well,
- 13:02Speaker 1: lots of people are having people confess to them. Apparently
- 13:05Speaker 1: they keep talking about stuff that's boys and whatever, and
- 13:09Speaker 1: Lane is just kind of looking at them upset. And
- 13:12Speaker 1: she walks to her seat and she gets there and
- 13:16Speaker 1: there's just an empty space, no desk, So she just
- 13:20Speaker 1: stands in the empty space, staring at the ground. As
- 13:24Speaker 1: you know, everyone keeps talking normally around her. We hear
- 13:28Speaker 1: the door open and close. We've got kind of like
- 13:31Speaker 1: a low shot of Lane, so we see the teacher's
- 13:34Speaker 1: legs like walk by, and we hear the teacher say stand,
- 13:38Speaker 1: and there's some rustling and then she says bow and
- 13:41Speaker 1: then finally okay, everyone, please close your books. Lane is
- 13:45Speaker 1: still standing in her spot, and the teacher goes to
- 13:50Speaker 1: the girl to the right of her and hands her
- 13:52Speaker 1: a bunch of papers, and the girl starts to pass
- 13:54Speaker 1: them back, as you do. I think they're gonna do
- 13:57Speaker 1: a test maybe, so they're passing out the tests, which
- 14:00Speaker 1: is why you close your book. So yeah, Laane is
- 14:02Speaker 1: just kind of watching the papers get passed back, and
- 14:05Speaker 1: then the teacher stops in front of her and she
- 14:07Speaker 1: gasps because she didn't expect that, And the teacher like
- 14:10Speaker 1: looks down at the papers in her hands, and Laane
- 14:14Speaker 1: reaches out for them so she can pass them back,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and the teacher just reaches past. Lane writes to the
- 14:20Speaker 1: kid behind her and hands the papers to her. Lane's
- 14:23Speaker 1: hands are still outstretched and she just stares down at
- 14:26Speaker 1: them in shock. As the teacher walks away. She's quiet
- 14:29Speaker 1: for a second, and then she says, I'm real, I'm alive, right,
- 14:34Speaker 1: I'm here, I'm here right now. She's still just staring
- 14:38Speaker 1: at her hands. Why is this happening to me? I
- 14:41Speaker 1: don't understand. Was it something I said or did I
- 14:44Speaker 1: always tried to keep something like this from happening to me?
- 14:47Speaker 1: What what was it that went so terribly wrong? I
- 14:51Speaker 1: always try not to say anything weird that it aroused
- 14:54Speaker 1: any suspicion. How could it possibly be true? Am I
- 14:58Speaker 1: not supposed to.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Have a body? Is that why this is happening? Fuck?
- 15:04Speaker 1: Laane just kind of gasps suddenly and then looks behind
- 15:07Speaker 1: her and gasps again. Which was kind of weird. And
- 15:10Speaker 1: we see that Alice is standing at her desk staring
- 15:13Speaker 1: at her. She and the other students are not completely
- 15:16Speaker 1: in like full saturated color. They're kind of in shades
- 15:19Speaker 1: of purple, which is weird. And Alice says, that's right, Lane,
- 15:25Speaker 1: you see it just so happens. You're no longer needed
- 15:28Speaker 1: in the real world. Fuck Lane, gasps, and then she
- 15:32Speaker 1: sees that Alice is actually just sitting at her desk working.
- 15:35Speaker 1: She stares at Alice for a long time, and then
- 15:38Speaker 1: everything just kind of fades to white. Okay, let me
- 15:41Speaker 1: stop there for a second. The whole thing about like
- 15:44Speaker 1: her saying I always try not to be weird and
- 15:47Speaker 1: am I not supposed to have a body? Like all
- 15:49Speaker 1: of this stuff. I just started going like, wait a minute,
- 15:53Speaker 1: is this like some sort of metaphor for depression or
- 15:56Speaker 1: suicidal ideation? Is that what we're doing here? Because it's
- 16:00Speaker 1: it sounds like things are really bad. It sounds like
- 16:02Speaker 1: she doesn't feel like she's ever been allowed to be herself,
- 16:06Speaker 1: and that makes me really upset obviously, like she's tried
- 16:10Speaker 1: so hard to just fit in and to not be
- 16:13Speaker 1: weird and to just exist and what did she do wrong?
- 16:18Speaker 1: And it just like really makes me upset because she
- 16:22Speaker 1: didn't do anything wrong, I don't think at least, except
- 16:25Speaker 1: like exist. And yeah, I'm not sure what any of
- 16:28Speaker 1: this means. That nobody is seeing her either. I'm not
- 16:31Speaker 1: even sure this is real if she could be dreaming it,
- 16:34Speaker 1: but yeah, yeah, yeah, So anyway, moving on from there,
- 16:40Speaker 1: we now see lanes legs and you know, feet walking
- 16:45Speaker 1: on just white or red blotchy shadow is being cast
- 16:49Speaker 1: off her and we see that she's walking off the
- 16:51Speaker 1: school grounds now and or focusing on that really large
- 16:55Speaker 1: blotchy shadow.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Like a lot. Let me cut to the humming on.
- 17:00Speaker 1: A grayish whitish sky, and then we see the side
- 17:04Speaker 1: of her house, like by her window, where like that
- 17:07Speaker 1: entire weird ball and mess of cables is just you know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: pouring out of the wall, which doesn't really make any
- 17:13Speaker 1: sense because why would they need to come out of
- 17:15Speaker 1: the wall, but whatever. Then we cut to her front
- 17:17Speaker 1: hallway and Lane opens the door and she says, I'm home.
- 17:22Speaker 1: The house is dark and still, you know, not like
- 17:25Speaker 1: night dark, but like middle of the day, but nobody's
- 17:28Speaker 1: home and the lights aren't on dark. She closes the door,
- 17:30Speaker 1: and then we got to black. We go to black
- 17:32Speaker 1: a lot in this show, by the way. Now we
- 17:36Speaker 1: see the living room. It's also dark in that unlived
- 17:39Speaker 1: in way, but there's bright light flooding in from the windows.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Everything is just kind of in order, except that there's
- 17:46Speaker 1: like a magazine on the floor and then like one
- 17:47Speaker 1: on the coffee table and a pillow that's also on
- 17:50Speaker 1: the floor with a remote next to it. I don't
- 17:53Speaker 1: know why this is there or if it matters. She
- 17:57Speaker 1: passes through the living room and into the kitchen, and
- 18:00Speaker 1: then she looks in the fridge, which is full, by
- 18:02Speaker 1: the way, so it's not like no one has ever
- 18:04Speaker 1: lived here or anything. It has like lots of food
- 18:07Speaker 1: in it, but I couldn't really make out what most
- 18:09Speaker 1: of it was. I think there was like soda cans, though,
- 18:12Speaker 1: just in case you.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Wanted to know.
- 18:14Speaker 1: We now see her opening the door to her parents'
- 18:17Speaker 1: bedroom and it's empty, like empty empty, like there are
- 18:21Speaker 1: no sheets on the beds, and there's a dead plant
- 18:24Speaker 1: on the nightstand. Great, let's just kill the plants.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I guess.
- 18:27Speaker 1: We also cut two dead plants on a bay window,
- 18:30Speaker 1: which might also be in their room. I wasn't really sure.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And then to black We now have an above shot
- 18:37Speaker 1: looking down at Lane, who is standing in the doorway
- 18:39Speaker 1: of Mika's room. I guess Mika's room. It's not her
- 18:42Speaker 1: room because her room is full of computers, so it's
- 18:45Speaker 1: got to be Mika's room. And it is a fucking disaster.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Like the bed is slightly turned so it's like not
- 18:52Speaker 1: completely against the wall. It just looks like, I don't
- 18:55Speaker 1: know what the person was doing with their bed, Like
- 18:58Speaker 1: it's just kind of rotated slightly covers her half off,
- 19:01Speaker 1: and there's like clothes and belongings like scattered all over
- 19:04Speaker 1: the floor.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeay.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Lane walks into the room and looks around, and we
- 19:09Speaker 1: have this kind of weird, slightly blurry filter going on
- 19:12Speaker 1: that I don't know what that's about. And then everything
- 19:14Speaker 1: kind of like fades into like lines of colors that
- 19:18Speaker 1: look kind of grainy, pixelated, and then we kind of
- 19:21Speaker 1: pan through the colors to Mika, who is in front
- 19:25Speaker 1: of the colors, and she says bee be bee go,
- 19:31Speaker 1: and then she fades into the colors too, and we
- 19:33Speaker 1: go to black, and then we hear Mika say bee
- 19:37Speaker 1: bee beep.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And just kind of fade out.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Sure that was fine. We then fade back into Mika's
- 19:45Speaker 1: destroyed room. I don't know what that was, and Lane
- 19:49Speaker 1: walks over and picks up a shirt that's on the floor,
- 19:51Speaker 1: and then she also picks up a notebook. I think
- 19:53Speaker 1: she's just gonna clean up the room, which is sweet,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and then she just suddenly turns and she sees her
- 19:59Speaker 1: dad stand in the doorway. She puts the stuff down
- 20:03Speaker 1: and stands up dad. Her dad says, this is goodbye
- 20:07Speaker 1: Lane's son.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Son.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Is a weird way to address your kid, but sure,
- 20:12Speaker 1: Laane just kind of stares at him, as you might
- 20:14Speaker 1: if your dad was like, oh, I'm just gonna leave.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I guess her dad says, you must have figured it
- 20:19Speaker 1: out by now. Our work here with you is finally completed.
- 20:23Speaker 1: It was only for a little while, but I know
- 20:25Speaker 1: I didn't do enough for you seriously. At least now
- 20:28Speaker 1: you're free to become anything you want. He's silent for
- 20:31Speaker 1: a second. No, I guess you were actually free all along.
- 20:36Speaker 1: He smiles like kindly, which might be the first time
- 20:39Speaker 1: we've seen him do that. Continues, I wasn't really given
- 20:44Speaker 1: permission to say goodbye, but I had to because you see,
- 20:47Speaker 1: I loved you. Fuck Wlayne just stares at him. He continues,
- 20:53Speaker 1: it's not that I was really all that fond of
- 20:55Speaker 1: playing house. Maybe it's that I envied you. You're something
- 20:59Speaker 1: I'll never be. A small girl, a human being with
- 21:03Speaker 1: free will shit. And he's just like Jah, which means
- 21:09Speaker 1: by basically, it's not Scionata, it's not you know, like
- 21:13Speaker 1: Big Farewell. It's just like, well, kinda and he just
- 21:17Speaker 1: walks out of the room. Laane is quiet for a
- 21:21Speaker 1: second and then she just gasps and she's like wait,
- 21:25Speaker 1: and she runs out of Mika's room. Her dad is
- 21:27Speaker 1: walking down the stairs at this point, and Lane gets
- 21:30Speaker 1: to the top of the stairs and says, please don't
- 21:33Speaker 1: leave me here alone. Her dad stops alone, rest assured.
- 21:38Speaker 1: You're not alone, not ever. Wayne's like what her dad says, Remember,
- 21:45Speaker 1: if you connect to the wired, everyone will always be
- 21:48Speaker 1: there to welcome you. That's the sort of being you were.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Fuck. He starts to walk away again.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We cut to Lane's devastated face as we hear the
- 21:58Speaker 1: door shut. It echoes loudly through the house.
- 22:03Speaker 2: We fades are black. Yeah, I'll do that at the end.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I want to talk about that though. No, I'm gonna
- 22:10Speaker 1: talk about it now. What the fuck you have someone
- 22:13Speaker 1: telling you? Please? I don't want to be alone. I
- 22:16Speaker 1: want human connection. And it's like, well, then just go
- 22:18Speaker 1: on the internet.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Fuck you.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Anyway, I'll yeah, I'll just continue. We fade into buildings.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm like a cloudy sky above them, I guess, and
- 22:30Speaker 1: we hear Lane say I must remember that I'm not alone.
- 22:34Speaker 1: We see the green crosswalk light, and then shadows of
- 22:38Speaker 1: people as they are walking I guess across the street
- 22:40Speaker 1: on the crosswalk, and I really like the way these
- 22:43Speaker 1: shadows look.
- 22:43Speaker 2: It's just really neat.
- 22:45Speaker 1: We get to Lane standing in the middle of the street,
- 22:48Speaker 1: you know, like between the crosswalks, as the shadows move
- 22:51Speaker 1: in the crosswalks around her. The sky above her has
- 22:55Speaker 1: like lines in it, like a computer chip. Maybe this
- 22:57Speaker 1: isn't the real world, and electricity kind of like sparks
- 23:00Speaker 1: through them. Okay, it's probably not the real world, but
- 23:03Speaker 1: who knows. At this point we get a close up
- 23:05Speaker 1: of Lane's face looking really determined actually, which is nice,
- 23:10Speaker 1: and we hear a woman say, what is it you
- 23:12Speaker 1: want to do?
- 23:12Speaker 2: Lane?
- 23:13Speaker 1: We cut to a low angle of Lane as electricity
- 23:16Speaker 1: shoots through the weird skylines above her. The woman continues,
- 23:20Speaker 1: look around, this is your world. Lane looks up and says,
- 23:24Speaker 1: who are the Knights? They're the ones responsible for making
- 23:27Speaker 1: the fake me right. We hear a man say, well,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I'm not sure.
- 23:32Speaker 2: It's not possible.
- 23:33Speaker 1: They say, you can trace the origin of the Knights
- 23:35Speaker 1: of Eastern Calculus all the way back to the Knight's templar,
- 23:38Speaker 1: which they originated in eleven eighteen, by the way, as
- 23:43Speaker 1: like a military force to protect Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem.
- 23:46Speaker 1: In case you didn't know anyway, he continues, they've used
- 23:51Speaker 1: that invisible human network, better known as the Collective Unconscious
- 23:55Speaker 1: since long before the wire it ever came into existence.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Lane is still looking to the sky and we hear
- 24:01Speaker 1: that woman say what do you want to do? Lane,
- 24:04Speaker 1: Lane's like, the nights, tell me who the nights are.
- 24:08Speaker 1: The woman's like, do you really want to know? Of course,
- 24:12Speaker 1: she keeps asking. Electricity runs through the sky again, and
- 24:16Speaker 1: Lane says, the Wired's god is a god for one
- 24:19Speaker 1: reason only. It's because he has worshipers that follow him.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Everything kind of fades out and we go back to
- 24:25Speaker 1: the green crosswalk sign, which kind of pixelates out too,
- 24:30Speaker 1: and then we go to a very determined looking Lane
- 24:33Speaker 1: with lots of like shadows on her face to show
- 24:35Speaker 1: how like determined and harsh her expression is. Then we
- 24:39Speaker 1: cut to a psychedelic screen sort of similar to the
- 24:42Speaker 1: screens form episode one, and her face gets like super
- 24:45Speaker 1: imposed over it, like as a negative. So all the
- 24:48Speaker 1: black is white, you know, like that this is all weird, guys.
- 24:51Speaker 1: So then we get like these green rays of something,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and then a burst of light, and then bursts of
- 24:57Speaker 1: like green and blue maybe or something, and then to white.
- 25:00Speaker 1: What was that I don't know. Maybe that was her
- 25:03Speaker 1: looking up. Who the nights are? We cut to an
- 25:07Speaker 1: exterior shot of Siberia. It looks like it's kind of
- 25:11Speaker 1: late in the day, maybe blue hour, and then we
- 25:14Speaker 1: see that disco ball, but it's not moving or shine
- 25:17Speaker 1: in on anything. It's just dark and still, and we
- 25:20Speaker 1: hear Masayuki say, he Tato, man, let's go somewhere else.
- 25:24Speaker 1: We see that all three of those kids, Tato and
- 25:26Speaker 1: his two friends are inside Siberia, but it's just like
- 25:30Speaker 1: dark and empty. Maybe it's too early or something for
- 25:34Speaker 1: like the club to be open. I'm not really sure.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Or maybe Siberia doesn't really exist, I don't know. Or
- 25:40Speaker 1: maybe it only existed when this whole thing that was
- 25:42Speaker 1: going on with Lane was going on, and now that
- 25:44Speaker 1: that's over, it's not a thing anymore. I'm again not
- 25:47Speaker 1: really sure. Anyway, Masayuki continues, this place has gotten boring.
- 25:53Speaker 1: There's literally nobody there, Masayuki. This isn't just like a
- 25:56Speaker 1: normal boring. This is what the fuck is happening. New
- 25:59Speaker 1: muse like, yeah, hey, why not come over to my place.
- 26:02Speaker 2: You don't have to come, though, Masayuki. Masayuki's like, huh,
- 26:06Speaker 2: what do you mean by that.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Tato is there obviously too, but he's just staring at
- 26:11Speaker 1: his little screen on his you know, a little whatever
- 26:13Speaker 1: the hell this is, and not really paying attention to
- 26:16Speaker 1: what they're saying. And Mimu continues, Tato doesn't want to
- 26:20Speaker 1: hang out with a little kid, like you give me
- 26:22Speaker 1: a break. You're just as much of a kid as
- 26:23Speaker 1: I am. We see the screen that Tato's looking at.
- 26:26Speaker 1: It says Nights of Eastern Calculus on it, and it
- 26:29Speaker 1: has this dude's face, and under it it says Takuyoshi Masuoka,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and it has an address that says Tokyo four or
- 26:38Speaker 1: five three dot four four six dot two four seven
- 26:41Speaker 1: dot three five seven dot one eight five, which I
- 26:43Speaker 1: guess is an IP address probably right, at least that's
- 26:47Speaker 1: what my brain said it was. Then a woman's picture
- 26:51Speaker 1: comes on the screen and it says Shoko mats Atsugu,
- 26:54Speaker 1: and the address for her is Yokohama six eight seven
- 26:58Speaker 1: dot four four five dot four four four six dot
- 27:02Speaker 1: one eight five Tato is just staring at it, and
- 27:06Speaker 1: we hear Mumu say it's okay for a girl. Everyone
- 27:09Speaker 1: knows being younger is really better for girls, right Tato whoos?
- 27:14Speaker 1: Tato looks surprised, not about this but about the screen,
- 27:18Speaker 1: and he frowns, and Masayuki says, that's a bunch of nonsense.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Mumu's like, what's up, Tato, what's the latest net news
- 27:26Speaker 1: right now?
- 27:27Speaker 2: Tato is still.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Looking at the screen and he says, it's a list.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yumu's like, what kind of list her? And Masayuki look
- 27:36Speaker 1: over his shoulder and Tato's like, what's a list of
- 27:38Speaker 1: all the current Nights members doing on the net news? Yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 1: Mumu and Masayuki just kind of turned to each other
- 27:46Speaker 1: like confused, and we see the screen again with Takuyoshi
- 27:50Speaker 1: Masuoka's face on it, that first guy, and then we
- 27:53Speaker 1: cut to him staring at himself on his computer. It
- 27:57Speaker 1: takes him a second to process this, but he freaks out,
- 28:00Speaker 1: like gasps, stands and like backs away abruptly. This is
- 28:04Speaker 1: that guy that was in that office that we saw
- 28:07Speaker 1: one time, who I think helped kill that dude who
- 28:09Speaker 1: was using those like VR goggles and walking around outside
- 28:12Speaker 1: a couple episodes ago. Anyway, he is totally freaked out.
- 28:16Speaker 1: He gets out a briefcase and just starts throwing papers
- 28:19Speaker 1: and like floppy discs in it and stuff like that.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And then there's a knock on the door. By the way,
- 28:24Speaker 1: his office has this really big window, and we're hearing
- 28:26Speaker 1: like all this bird song in the background, which I
- 28:29Speaker 1: thought was super weird because you wouldn't hear that inside
- 28:31Speaker 1: his office, but whatever. Anyway, there's a knock at the door.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Masuoka says, yes, we see torsos of like two men
- 28:39Speaker 1: walk into the room, and Masuoka is sweating and breathing
- 28:43Speaker 1: really hard, and he looks up and gasps, it's the
- 28:47Speaker 1: guys with the goggles.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 1: The small guy, who we don't have a name for yet, says,
- 28:53Speaker 1: would you please remain silent? Carl, the tall guy walks
- 28:57Speaker 1: around the desk over to Masuoka, who backs against the
- 29:00Speaker 1: window and it's like, who are you guys? Carl says,
- 29:04Speaker 1: time to pay up, all right. Masuka's like, what do
- 29:07Speaker 1: you mean. Carl grabs him and puts his hand over
- 29:10Speaker 1: his mouth so we can't scream, and presses this sort
- 29:13Speaker 1: of gun thing against his neck and injects some sort
- 29:16Speaker 1: of liquid into him.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Masuoca goes limp.
- 29:19Speaker 1: We cut to outside. There's a bunch of lightning and thunder,
- 29:22Speaker 1: and the bird song continues. We now see a low
- 29:25Speaker 1: shot of a woman knocking on Masuoka's office door. She
- 29:29Speaker 1: knocks again, but there's no response, so she opens it
- 29:32Speaker 1: and looks inside and then makes this giant gasp. He
- 29:38Speaker 1: is slumped over at his desk with his eyes open,
- 29:41Speaker 1: apparently dead. I thought they were just gonna tranquilize him.
- 29:46Speaker 2: That's mean, I guess.
- 29:48Speaker 1: We cut to that dude in that apartment from one time,
- 29:51Speaker 1: who's like a really messy studio apartment, and he's like
- 29:53Speaker 1: not wearing any pants, and he was like on his
- 29:55Speaker 1: futon on the floor with his computer and shit.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Anyway, he is lying on.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I think it's the futon or his floor or whatever,
- 30:04Speaker 1: and we get this close up of his like face,
- 30:06Speaker 1: like there's like this light shining into his mouth, and
- 30:10Speaker 1: I don't know what this is supposed to be, but
- 30:12Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be dead here, Like
- 30:16Speaker 1: did somebody like shove something into his mouth and choke him?
- 30:19Speaker 1: I don't know, because like his computer's still on and everything,
- 30:22Speaker 1: but like he has been killed. Yeay, I guess that's mean.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Now we see like a three D plane, like a
- 30:31Speaker 1: three D computer model plane, and it just kind of
- 30:34Speaker 1: bursts out of existence and then on the screen, and
- 30:38Speaker 1: then the screen says continue and it starts to countdown
- 30:40Speaker 1: from eight. That kid that was playing video games that
- 30:44Speaker 1: other time with his mom says, Mom, I got killed.
- 30:48Speaker 1: We can see the dining room where his mom is
- 30:50Speaker 1: slumped over the table. The kid says, hey, mom, wake up.
- 30:54Speaker 1: We get a closer shot now, and she is laying
- 30:57Speaker 1: face down in a puddle of her coffee. Yes, maybe
- 31:00Speaker 1: she was poisoned. The kid says, it's your turn, mom.
- 31:04Speaker 1: If you don't hurry up, I'm gonna keep playing. Okay, okay,
- 31:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna take him out, all right. We cut to
- 31:10Speaker 1: a staticky blue screen with a little black box in
- 31:13Speaker 1: the left bottom corner that has a little staticky black
- 31:17Speaker 1: screen in the box or something. It's like there's a
- 31:21Speaker 1: little TV in the staticky blue screen. I don't know,
- 31:24Speaker 1: this is weird anyway. We hear, I guess an announcer,
- 31:28Speaker 1: reporter or somebody say, good evening. We lead with tragic news,
- 31:33Speaker 1: a series of suicides occurred today all over the world,
- 31:37Speaker 1: but sure, mass suicides, it's totally non murder. In the
- 31:41Speaker 1: little black you know screen, we go to an image
- 31:45Speaker 1: of a person slumped against the wall and a man continues,
- 31:49Speaker 1: and each country's Information Control ministry and police departments have
- 31:52Speaker 1: begun investigating the cause. Now we see a guy dead
- 31:57Speaker 1: on a pool chair, like at a pool. People are
- 32:01Speaker 1: standing over him. The guy continues. Each victim was involved
- 32:04Speaker 1: in some kind of network related work requiring advanced proficiency.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Now we see a guy face down, like right next
- 32:12Speaker 1: to his keyboard, his hands still on the mouse, and
- 32:15Speaker 1: then we cut to the night's symbol. Okay, the man continues,
- 32:19Speaker 1: and sources tell us that they appear to be members
- 32:21Speaker 1: of the fraternal order known as the Knights. The audio
- 32:24Speaker 1: and video through like that last sentence are just kind
- 32:27Speaker 1: of cutting in and out until we just lose all video.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Then we go to one of Lane's eyes. We see
- 32:34Speaker 1: Lane's face. Something is attached to her lip, like a
- 32:37Speaker 1: little clip. Maybe it's like an electrode or something. I
- 32:40Speaker 1: don't know why you'd clip something to your lip. She
- 32:44Speaker 1: is sitting on the floor covered in wires, just like
- 32:47Speaker 1: not completely covered, but just wires are just kind of
- 32:49Speaker 1: wrapped around her, and she's in like that nightgown, that
- 32:52Speaker 1: white nightgown, and those holographic screens from the computers are
- 32:56Speaker 1: floating all around her. She looks like she's not mentally
- 33:01Speaker 1: at all. We see two sets of feet walking up
- 33:04Speaker 1: the stairs. Fuck, and then we see the guys in
- 33:07Speaker 1: the goggles.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Walking down the hall towards her room.
- 33:10Speaker 1: We cut to Lane's door handle as it turns. The
- 33:12Speaker 1: guys look inside, and Carl steps through the doorway. He
- 33:16Speaker 1: has to duck down because he's so tall. The short
- 33:19Speaker 1: guy kind of chuckles, and Lane says, why did you
- 33:22Speaker 1: do it?
- 33:23Speaker 2: Tell me?
- 33:24Speaker 1: Carl, who is still across the room he doesn't make
- 33:26Speaker 1: an attempt to come any closer, says, essentially, it was
- 33:30Speaker 1: a personal request from our client. You hunted all the
- 33:33Speaker 1: knights all over the world. Our associates are now on
- 33:35Speaker 1: their way to dispose of them as quickly as possible.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Lane's like, but why, Carl says, the Wired can't ever
- 33:43Speaker 1: be allowed to operate as a special world again. It
- 33:46Speaker 1: can only be a field that functions as a subsystem
- 33:49Speaker 1: to reinforce the workings of the real world. Lane's like,
- 33:52Speaker 1: but still, the short guy cuts her off. Unfortunately, you
- 33:56Speaker 1: can't be permitted to exist in the wired anymore, but
- 33:59Speaker 1: here you are now totally safe and sound, he chuckles.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Some god or whatever must be protecting you. He chuckles again.
- 34:06Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on with him. Karl says,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you need to understand that Masumi eightes residual thought program
- 34:12Speaker 1: will eventually be disinfected from the Wired. Our client's working
- 34:16Speaker 1: towards a total rewrite of the Protocol seven code, which
- 34:19Speaker 1: shall completely disable Masumi Eedes' network penetration. He's quiet for
- 34:23Speaker 1: a second. We have no need for your so called god.
- 34:26Speaker 1: The short Guy's like, right, not in the wired and
- 34:29Speaker 1: not in the real world. He laughs, and he starts
- 34:31Speaker 1: to walk out of the doorway. Carl starts to leave
- 34:34Speaker 1: as well, but then he turns back and stares at Lane.
- 34:37Speaker 1: He takes off his goggles and we see his like
- 34:39Speaker 1: really really blue eyes, and he says, we still haven't
- 34:43Speaker 1: figured out exactly what you are, and will probably never
- 34:46Speaker 1: know for certain. He looks at Lane for a little bit,
- 34:49Speaker 1: but still I know that I love you Lane. What
- 34:52Speaker 1: love is certainly a strange emotion, isn't it. He walks
- 34:55Speaker 1: out of the room. What the short guy is standing
- 34:59Speaker 1: in the hallway just laughing. I don't know what the
- 35:02Speaker 1: fuck's wrong with him right now. He didn't used to
- 35:04Speaker 1: laugh all the time. We cut back to Lane sitting
- 35:06Speaker 1: on the floor. She closes her eyes. We fade to black,
- 35:10Speaker 1: back to power lines on a white sky. Lane is
- 35:14Speaker 1: just kind of standing in the middle of the street again.
- 35:15Speaker 1: She's wearing like a big sweater. I don't think she
- 35:18Speaker 1: has any pants on. And the wind is blowing like
- 35:22Speaker 1: violently around her, like whipping up what I believe her
- 35:25Speaker 1: like little blades of grass and shit. At least they
- 35:27Speaker 1: look like grass to me. I mean, they're just like lines,
- 35:30Speaker 1: little liny things that could be pieces of plant or garbage.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I don't really know, but they're being blown around. She says,
- 35:37Speaker 1: what will you do? God starts to descend and kind
- 35:41Speaker 1: of materialize, and he says, well, now, let me think
- 35:45Speaker 1: Lane's like, you don't have anyone out there to pray
- 35:47Speaker 1: for you. Now we see kind of a wider shot
- 35:51Speaker 1: and Lane is facing away from God, so God's behind
- 35:53Speaker 1: her but always behind her, and he says, hmm, then
- 35:57Speaker 1: I can't be a god, now can I? But then again,
- 36:00Speaker 1: I haven't lost all of them. You know that even
- 36:03Speaker 1: if only one believer remains, then I can still be
- 36:06Speaker 1: a God. Lane's like, who, God says, come on, now,
- 36:11Speaker 1: what about you? Laane just stares at the ground. God continues,
- 36:15Speaker 1: It's only because of my power that you can stay yourself.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I'm the one who gave you life. You were originally
- 36:21Speaker 1: born in the Wired You were the legend of the
- 36:24Speaker 1: Wired cast, in the role of the heroine and all
- 36:26Speaker 1: the Wired's fairy tales. Lane's silent for a second. Liar,
- 36:31Speaker 1: God continues, the real world, iwakuda Lane is merely a
- 36:35Speaker 1: hologram of her, a monculus of artificial ribosomes.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Lane finally turns her head to look at him.
- 36:42Speaker 2: That's a lie. We got to black.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Then we see the exterior of her house, kind of
- 36:47Speaker 1: framed by the dark shadows of the other houses around it.
- 36:50Speaker 1: We hear God say, a fake family, fake friends. Yes,
- 36:55Speaker 1: it was all just a lie. That's not what she meant.
- 36:59Speaker 1: We get a close up a Lane's eye as tears
- 37:01Speaker 1: start to well up. She says, that's a lie. That's
- 37:06Speaker 1: all a big lie. We got to the house again,
- 37:09Speaker 1: and the image starts to blur, which I'm pretty sure
- 37:12Speaker 1: is because she is looking at the house and her
- 37:15Speaker 1: vision is starting to blur because of the tears in
- 37:17Speaker 1: her eyes. God appears next to Lane and kind of
- 37:20Speaker 1: holds some of her hair. She's got like that longer
- 37:23Speaker 1: hair piece, and he's just kind of like caressing it,
- 37:26Speaker 1: and he says, sweet little Lane, she's all alone now,
- 37:30Speaker 1: but I'm still here for you. The man who truly loves.
- 37:34Speaker 2: You is here.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Lane is just looking longingly at her house while he
- 37:39Speaker 1: touches her hair. Fuck, he continues, you should be able
- 37:44Speaker 1: to love me. You must understand that I'm the man
- 37:47Speaker 1: who first send you to this world. We get a
- 37:49Speaker 1: close up of Lane's face as her tears blow away
- 37:52Speaker 1: in the wind. God continues, you know it. I'm your creator.
- 37:57Speaker 1: He leans in love me. There's no one else right, Fuck,
- 38:03Speaker 1: Lane says, But the other God narrows his eyes.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Huh.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Lane's like, isn't she? She starts to walk away. God says,
- 38:14Speaker 1: that's not another you, that's the real you. He puts
- 38:17Speaker 1: his hand on her shoulder at Lane just kind of
- 38:19Speaker 1: like brushes him off and says, like it even matters
- 38:22Speaker 1: what's real anymore? Yeah, I guess the wind like really
- 38:26Speaker 1: picks up and sort of pushes him back. I mean
- 38:29Speaker 1: not really. He's kind of floating and he's like maintaining
- 38:32Speaker 1: his position, but he is being like really pushed on
- 38:36Speaker 1: by the wind and he chuckles. At this point, the
- 38:39Speaker 1: wires from the overhead telephone pole snap and lands on
- 38:42Speaker 1: the ground all around Lane, and they're writhing and stuff,
- 38:45Speaker 1: and we can see the electricity from the wires in
- 38:48Speaker 1: Lane's eyes as they like crack and pop around her.
- 38:52Speaker 1: To be continued and let me go the ending and
- 38:55Speaker 1: that's it. Yeay, okay, So closing thoughts, what the fuck?
- 39:03Speaker 1: So yeah, love is a good title for this episode.
- 39:06Speaker 1: We have three people who love Lane. I guess. We
- 39:09Speaker 1: have her dad that might not be her dad for real.
- 39:12Speaker 1: We have Carl with blue eyes, and then we have God.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I'm not really concerned about Carl because he seems like
- 39:21Speaker 1: a good dude, and I kind of get why someone
- 39:24Speaker 1: who was pretending to be your dad would love you.
- 39:27Speaker 1: So I think that's fine, even though we just left
- 39:29Speaker 1: her and said, like, go live with your friends in
- 39:33Speaker 1: the Internet. I'll get back to that in a second.
- 39:37Speaker 1: But I am kind of concerned about God's love for
- 39:39Speaker 1: her because it freaks me out and I don't trust God.
- 39:44Speaker 1: He like seems like not a good guy. It could
- 39:47Speaker 1: be just his facial expressions or the fact that he
- 39:49Speaker 1: was touching her hair. I don't know, but I don't
- 39:53Speaker 1: like any of this stuff with him. He makes me
- 39:56Speaker 1: really uncomfortable, and I mean it's very obvious that Lane
- 40:00Speaker 1: doesn't like him or trust him either, And it's really
- 40:03Speaker 1: hard for me to know if what he's saying is
- 40:05Speaker 1: true or not, because I mean, Lane is like, no,
- 40:07Speaker 1: none of this is real. But I don't know if
- 40:10Speaker 1: that's because she understands something about the situation or because
- 40:15Speaker 1: she doesn't want it to be true, right, because either
- 40:18Speaker 1: one of them would be fine here, because I mean,
- 40:21Speaker 1: I would understand why she doesn't want any of this
- 40:23Speaker 1: to be true. She doesn't want to know that she
- 40:26Speaker 1: is a product of the Internet and that this dude,
- 40:30Speaker 1: who I guess is Masami eighty maybe is like her
- 40:35Speaker 1: creator or something, and the only person that she has
- 40:39Speaker 1: left in the world, and that like the terrible thing
- 40:44Speaker 1: that she's met in the Wired is really her as well.
- 40:48Speaker 1: So like, yeah, I would totally be fine with her
- 40:51Speaker 1: being like, no, this isn't true and it being true
- 40:54Speaker 1: because it's not a good truth. So yeah, but she
- 40:59Speaker 1: obvious has some control over the real world. I mean,
- 41:02Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure she's the one who snapped those wires
- 41:05Speaker 1: and whipped up that wind. But then again, I don't
- 41:07Speaker 1: even know if that is the real world.
- 41:09Speaker 2: That's happening in this scene.
- 41:11Speaker 1: It's hard to tell what's real in this at all.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I think it was really interesting that Laine decided she
- 41:16Speaker 1: wanted to just basically end the Nights. Like, as far
- 41:20Speaker 1: as I could tell, she wasn't like thrilled that's Carl
- 41:23Speaker 1: and whatever the guy's name is killed them, and that
- 41:27Speaker 1: their associates killed them too. But I kind of think,
- 41:30Speaker 1: based on this last conversation with God, that she really
- 41:34Speaker 1: did want to eliminate his followers. She really wanted to
- 41:38Speaker 1: put them out in the open and make them stop
- 41:40Speaker 1: worshiping him so he wouldn't exist anymore. At least that
- 41:43Speaker 1: was my take at the beginning of the interaction, when
- 41:46Speaker 1: she said, you don't have anyone out there to pray
- 41:47Speaker 1: to you. Now, I didn't get the impression that it
- 41:50Speaker 1: was like, I'm really sorry to hear that. I got
- 41:53Speaker 1: the impression that, like, I did this then it was
- 41:55Speaker 1: on purpose. So yeah, I don't know what my point
- 41:59Speaker 1: was there, but it was a point. So I don't
- 42:02Speaker 1: know what's going on. But obviously she doesn't have a
- 42:06Speaker 1: real family in the something or her family wasn't a
- 42:10Speaker 1: real family or something. Who are the people who put
- 42:13Speaker 1: her with this family? And are they even a family
- 42:15Speaker 1: or are they just all actors pretending to be a
- 42:18Speaker 1: family with Lane, Like, I mean, it's her sister, really,
- 42:22Speaker 1: her parents child, Like, what's going on here? So none
- 42:25Speaker 1: of this is good?
- 42:26Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 42:27Speaker 1: But uh, the other thing I had wanted to talk
- 42:30Speaker 1: about was her dad saying, like, like I just said
- 42:33Speaker 1: a minute ago, like, hey, you're not really alone. You
- 42:37Speaker 1: have the Internet and stuff. Listen, the Internet is good,
- 42:42Speaker 1: in my opinion. It has a lot of really good things.
- 42:45Speaker 1: The wired I mean probably, But in the real world
- 42:48Speaker 1: internet you can meet a lot of cool people and
- 42:52Speaker 1: you can, you know, feel friendship and stuff for them,
- 42:56Speaker 1: and that's all great, And I don't want to discredit
- 42:58Speaker 1: any of that because it's real and it's important to
- 43:02Speaker 1: people and to me. But when somebody tells you that
- 43:05Speaker 1: they don't want to be alone, having a response that's like, oh,
- 43:09Speaker 1: just go beyond the Internet is just like, really, really
- 43:12Speaker 1: sad because sometimes you just want like a human person,
- 43:17Speaker 1: at least that's what I've heard. You just want a
- 43:20Speaker 1: human person to be there with you, maybe to hug
- 43:23Speaker 1: you and so you can cry on them, or just
- 43:26Speaker 1: like to sit with you, or to just be there
- 43:29Speaker 1: in the house so you don't feel all alone in
- 43:32Speaker 1: your room with all the wires attached to you, you know.
- 43:35Speaker 1: So it just hurts. It hurts to see her constantly
- 43:39Speaker 1: so isolated.
- 43:41Speaker 2: You know.
- 43:42Speaker 1: It's rough, man, it's rough out there, I guess. So
- 43:46Speaker 1: I think we have what like three episodes left. Yeah,
- 43:49Speaker 1: that's how that's how math works. So this almost felt
- 43:53Speaker 1: like the ending to me. So I'm really curious as
- 43:55Speaker 1: to what's going to happen in the next three episodes.
- 43:58Speaker 2: And I really do, and.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Really curious because because I really don't remember this very well,
- 44:02Speaker 1: Like I know what happens at the end, but how
- 44:06Speaker 1: do we get from here to there?
- 44:07Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So yeah, I again, I hope that you're liking this.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I hope you're getting something out of this. I'll probably
- 44:15Speaker 1: wait until the end and then share my like all
- 44:19Speaker 1: of my crazy like what the fuck was this theories
- 44:22Speaker 1: that I'm slowly like coming up with about like if
- 44:25Speaker 1: this isn't just straightforward, if this is a metaphor or
- 44:28Speaker 1: something like, what does that mean till like the end
- 44:31Speaker 1: of the actual show. This will be the second anime
- 44:35Speaker 1: ever that we've done on this podcast that we've actually
- 44:37Speaker 1: come to an actual conclusion for. The only other one
- 44:41Speaker 1: was Banana Fish, obviously, So I'm kind of excited about
- 44:45Speaker 1: having an end and having something to talk about in
- 44:48Speaker 1: a finished point that's supposed to mean something, because we
- 44:51Speaker 1: usually just end with like, that's the end of the season.
- 44:55Speaker 1: I guess everything's gonna be okay or something.
- 44:57Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I think the closest we got with a non complete
- 45:01Speaker 1: show feeling like an actual ending was like eighty six
- 45:05Speaker 1: or maybe like ree zero two. But uh yeah, but
- 45:09Speaker 1: having an actual like this is what I meant, This
- 45:12Speaker 1: is what I wanted you to understand. Ending for the
- 45:16Speaker 1: first time in a little while and only the second
- 45:18Speaker 1: time ever is gonna be real fucking cool to talk about.
- 45:21Speaker 1: So I am mildly excited about that. But that's really
- 45:26Speaker 1: all I have today. It's not super late, which is great,
- 45:30Speaker 1: but it's still like raining out, so I can't do
- 45:32Speaker 1: all the outside things I need to do like finish
- 45:34Speaker 1: that dumb mosaic that I'm working on, or like mow
- 45:38Speaker 1: the lawn or something. So I'm gonna go figure out
- 45:42Speaker 1: what you can do in the inside world, which is
- 45:45Speaker 1: probably like work on things and work and stuff. And
- 45:50Speaker 1: I hope that you have a really good whatever whatever
- 45:55Speaker 1: that may be, seriously, and uh yeah, I'll be here
- 45:59Speaker 1: next week unless the really bad thing happens later.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Weeps.
