- 1:36dot com with the first article published on February third,
- 1:40Shaboozie hints at possible collaboration with Morgan Wallen Stuff's Come In.
- 1:46Could a Shaboozie and Morgan Wallen collaboration be on the horizon?
- 1:50The five time Grammy nominee, who took the stage during
- 1:52the sixty seventh Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, opened up
- 1:56about what's next for him and teased that he might
- 1:58have a collaboration with a country superstar in the works.
- 2:02While chatting with Billboard backstage, Stuff's Coming man. He teased
- 2:06Stuff's Coming when asked about a collab with Wallin. He
- 2:10shot me a text the other day, and it's just
- 2:11good that he's doing good, taking care of himself, putting
- 2:14out some new music that I feel the world is
- 2:16excited about and ready for. Shaboozi shared in a preview
- 2:20interview with bill Board, Shaboozi called Wallin a legend. He's
- 2:23someone that makes great music and music that connects with
- 2:26a lot of people. The Virginia Natives said, so a
- 2:28country artist or as a country artist, someone who loves
- 2:31his space, and I pay respect and Morgan. I met
- 2:34Morgan and he was a good homie. There was even
- 2:37conversations about him jumping on the record early on, and
- 2:39it's cool again. It's cool to just to be able
- 2:42to know these people honestly. While Shaboozie didn't have a
- 2:45chance to work with Wallan on his twenty twenty four record,
- 2:48Where I've Been Isn't Where I'm Going, it sounds like
- 2:51there's a chance the artist can team up on his
- 2:53next project. I'm so excited about it with my upcoming music,
- 2:57he told Billboard, I feel like now I'm coming into
- 3:00my own. These awards now it's just an extra treat
- 3:02on top of everything I've done so far in my career.
- 3:05I can't wait to keep it going. Where I've Been
- 3:08Isn't Where I'm Going features his nineteen week Billboard Hot
- 3:10one hundred number one smash of bar song Tipsy and
- 3:14was released back on May thirty first of last year.
- 3:17Shaboozi has been on a whirlwind ride following the success
- 3:20of a bar song and is showing no signs of
- 3:22slowing down anytime soon. His latest single, good News, continues
- 3:26to make waves. The song is another stand at in
- 3:29Chaboozie's catalog, blending his signature sound and raw emotion with
- 3:33longtime collaborations Nevin Sastrey and Sean Cook. With heartfelt vocals
- 3:39reflecting struggle and hope, set against acoustic guitar, fiddle and
- 3:42pedal steel, the song delivers a powerful message for anyone
- 3:46persevering through hard times. Chaboozi is set to take his
- 3:50music overseas with a major European tour featuring stops in Paris, Berlin,
- 3:54London and Moore. Next up, Priscilla Block to headline Country
- 3:58Now Live fitting Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital. Save the Date,
- 4:04Priscilla Block will be taking the stage as headliner for
- 4:06the upcoming Country Now Live event, a special night that
- 4:09brings country music fans together for a good cause. This year,
- 4:13the star Stuttered event will once again be dedicated to
- 4:16supporting Saint Children's Hospital and they've done that in the past, obviously.
- 4:20The event will take place on Tuesday, February eighteenth at
- 4:23sixth and Peabody in Nashville. Block's performance comes on the
- 4:27heels of her latest EP, PB two, released in twenty
- 4:30twenty four, as well as her brand new song He's
- 4:33My Man. In addition to Block, the show will also
- 4:36feature performances by Lily Rose, Vincent Mason, Adam Deliach, and Demps.
- 4:41Fans can expect to hear some of this epic lineup
- 4:43of country acts take the stage to deliver stripped down
- 4:46acoustic sets featuring a mix of their biggest hits and
- 4:49newest releases. Dillyak revealed he's especially looking forward to kickstart
- 4:54his year of performing by showcasing new and maybe unreleased
- 4:58tunes with his listeners in the U into mid setting.
- 5:01I'm expired, I'm excited. That will probably be my first
- 5:04thing back. It's my first kind of show back after
- 5:06a long time not playing do leactol country Now. Any
- 5:10opportunity like that to tell stories and play songs with
- 5:13friends in Nashville always ends up being so fun, and
- 5:16it's one of those things. Sometimes I'll go to writer's
- 5:18rounds just to listen and get inspired, because you forget
- 5:21how fun it is and how inspired you get just
- 5:23being around other people like that. But I'm super excited
- 5:27to be part of it. Next, Lee Brice unpacks the
- 5:31powerful meaning behind Cry and teases his best record yet.
- 5:36Lee Brice is sending a powerful message with his new
- 5:39single Cry, as he reminds everyone, particularly men, that it's
- 5:42not only okay to show your emotions, but it's oftentimes necessary.
- 5:47When it comes to break up anthems and love songs.
- 5:49Bryce has proved his ability to sing from all different.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Perspectives of those relationships.
- 5:55Speaker 1: In doing so, he gives listeners an outlet to express
- 5:57what they're feeling and help put their thought words. He
- 6:01explained to Country Now that while he initially saw many
- 6:04of his heartfelt songs like Hard to Love and I
- 6:06Don't Dance as being for girls, he quickly discovered that
- 6:09many guys have also connected with them. Now with Cry,
- 6:13he's leaning into the sentiment that guys also need a
- 6:15motive anthems to navigate their tough moments in life, especially breakups.
- 6:20That's obviously an important message to be able to show
- 6:23you your feelings because if you keep them all held inside,
- 6:26you'll never know. Bryce shared, I've always loved both sides
- 6:29of the equation hard to love or I don't dance
- 6:32or something like that. I've always looked at it like
- 6:34this was for the girls, but it's also for the dudes.
- 6:37So I'll be singing I don't dance and the girls
- 6:39will be going, oh my god, it's my wedding song
- 6:41or whatever, and the guy's like, yeah, it's my wedding song.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Man.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They're the ones out there really digging it, he continued,
- 6:48And sometimes songs are just like one or the other.
- 6:50My biggest things in life in my career have been
- 6:52the ones that really walk the line, like they're sensitive
- 6:55songs that a guy might not know how to say,
- 6:57and I'm hopefully giving him a vehicle for how they
- 7:00can say it. And they're like, yes, thank you, that
- 7:03was perfect.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Man.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Cry was penned by Ben Hayslip, David Garcia, and Dallas Davidson,
- 7:10who also happens to be a close friend of Bryce's.
- 7:12The South Carolina native recalls inviting Davidson over to the
- 7:15studio to help him decipher which songs to include on
- 7:18his next record. Out of the twenty five to thirty
- 7:21tunes he had already recorded. The conversation eventually turned into
- 7:25Davidson discussing a new song he had written that was
- 7:27potentially going to be recorded by the Grammy nominated artist
- 7:30Teddy Swims. Bryce instantly fell in love with the track
- 7:34and offered up the idea to record it as a
- 7:36duet with Swims. Although the collaboration didn't work out due
- 7:40to scheduling conflicts, Bryce got to bring the tune to
- 7:42life on his own. There was just really something about it.
- 7:46I love the simple twists of what it says and cry.
- 7:49You're thinking you're going to hear some sad thing and
- 7:51it's just not. It's so Dallas. It's so us. Guys
- 7:54that aren't afraid to in real thing, aren't afraid to
- 7:56show some emotion. We might be tough, old rednecks, but
- 8:00we've got hearts. He pointed out. The multi platinum Curb Records,
- 8:04a recording artist felt so drawn to the fifties dou
- 8:07wop sound that Davidson had created on the demo that
- 8:10he decided to keep that same vibe while adding a
- 8:12modern twist. This nostalgic spirit of the tune combined with
- 8:17the upbeat tempo allows listeners of any generation to feel
- 8:21captivated by Bryce's gritty vocals. I wanted to get it
- 8:24just right. Sometimes it's hard to walk a line between
- 8:27going to do some classic like fifties do up but
- 8:29you still got to put your own kind of spin
- 8:31on it, and then also just something for the kids
- 8:34to listen to where they like it. The groovy retro
- 8:38sound is further elevated in the Crime music video directed
- 8:41by Chase Lower. The footage finds Bryce taking on the
- 8:44responsibility of helping a heartbroken guy Mendy's relationship with the
- 8:47girl who still had a tight grip on his heart.
- 8:51It was so much fun, Honestly. I usually love to
- 8:53get in and either come up with the idea the
- 8:55treatment for the video, or lean on Chase or Ryan
- 8:58and let them kind of come up with something and
- 9:00then I kind of get in it with him and
- 9:02we all finish it together and then shoot the video.
- 9:04But this time, man Chase came to me with his
- 9:07whole idea for this video, and I was like, I
- 9:09would have never dreamed of something like that. I mean,
- 9:12I just wouldn't. That's just not where my brain goes.
- 9:14Bryce said, praising Lower's work. He put his trust in
- 9:17the director and it paid off because the video takes
- 9:19the story and brings it to life in a way
- 9:21that isn't too cheesy or far from being authentic to
- 9:24a real life break up experience. It captures the compelling
- 9:28nature of the narrative, but in a more lighthearted nature.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I went with it.
- 9:32Speaker 1: We went and had first of all, at a blast
- 9:34and then second of all the video. I just feel
- 9:36like it was so cool. I mean, I think you
- 9:38like a song when you hear it, but I think
- 9:40you like the song even better when you see the video.
- 9:43Just kind of quirky and fun, he admitted. In the
- 9:46opening scene, Bryce sits with a heartbroken man who after
- 9:48experiencing a tough break up, and lists the country start
- 9:50who expresses emotions through song. From there, Bryce follows the
- 9:54girl around performing his new single at her work, at
- 9:57her home, anywhere she was, just trying to get her
- 10:00to listen. Finally, the message of the song sings in,
- 10:04leading her to give her heartbroken ex a call. I've
- 10:07been crying in my beer, crying in my bed, crying
- 10:10on the pillow where you used to lay your head.
- 10:12I'm gonna cry myself to sleep tonight? Who says a
- 10:14man don't cry? Bryce delivers on the impactful chorus. Even
- 10:19though Teddy Swims did not end up on the initial
- 10:21recording of cry Lee, Bryce hinted that both artists are
- 10:24still open to a future collaborative version. If this duet
- 10:27comes to fruition, it will mark one of the several
- 10:29that could appear on Bryce's forthcoming album. What she explained
- 10:32has been two years in the making. My goal is
- 10:36every time is to hopefully top what I did the
- 10:38last time. I'm always wanting to improve and get better
- 10:41at writing, and better at making records and better just
- 10:43all of it. And that's what I was really a
- 10:45little unsure about it. I was like, God, how am
- 10:47I going to beat this last record? And then even
- 10:50just song quality just kept coming together. Now I'm sitting
- 10:53here honestly today and this week I'll be hopefully turning
- 10:56in everything and putting masters on. So I'm finally done
- 10:59with it, basically, and I am just over the moon
- 11:02about it. Much like his past projects, fans can expect
- 11:05to see a variety of different musical influences in a
- 11:08broad range of sounds from rocking, country, anthems to deep ballads, Plus,
- 11:12he teased an extremely special collaboration with the beloved country
- 11:15band Diamond Rio. I grew up hearing Diamond Rio, so
- 11:20we have them on it. It's a really special song
- 11:22to me in the first place, and so it just
- 11:24needed something specific and something special on it, and we
- 11:27were struggling to try and find this sort of well,
- 11:29we couldn't really put our finger on what it was.
- 11:31We said, you know what it needs like that old
- 11:33Diamond real guitar sound, just the guitar sound. And his
- 11:36name is Jimmy Olander, who played all that guitar on
- 11:39all those records. And we called and he said, yeah,
- 11:42glad to And I was like, dude, why don't we
- 11:45just ask the whole band. I'm like humongous fan of
- 11:47all of them. So we got Diamond Rio the whole
- 11:49deal on the song, and it's really special. It's called
- 11:52hart Pine The Ballad of Mister Bill. I feel like
- 11:55it's the best record I've ever made for sure. Lee
- 11:59Brice is fresh off the launch of his highly anticipated
- 12:01intimate acoustic tour dubbed the You, Me and My Guitar Tour.
- 12:05The trek kicked off January thirtieth in Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania, and
- 12:09will find the country star bringing the stories behind his
- 12:11songs to life on stages throughout March, including a must
- 12:14see performance at Nashville's iconic Rieman Auditorium on February eighteenth. Next,
- 12:21Kelsey Ballerini and Noah Kahan poke fun at their award
- 12:24show losing streak. Kelsey Ballerini and Noah Kahan joke about
- 12:28their streak of consecutive losses ahead of the twenty twenty
- 12:32five Grammy Awards. In the past year, the pair artists
- 12:35of artists have received three nominations at various award shows
- 12:38for their soulful collaboration Cowboys Cry two, including Music Event
- 12:42of the Year at twenty twenty four CMA Awards, Crossover
- 12:46Song of Last Year at the People's Choice Awards, and
- 12:48Best Country Duo Group Performance at the Grammys. Unfortunately, they
- 12:52have yet to take home a win, and that didn't change.
- 12:56While walking the red carpet at the Crypto dot Com
- 12:58Arena on Sunday, Ballerinian Kahan learned that they had lost
- 13:01their chance to take home yet another trophy. When Beyonce
- 13:04and Miley Cyrus were named winners of Best Country Duo
- 13:07Group Performance for two Most Wanted. Despite adding a third
- 13:11loss under their belf the artists were able to make
- 13:14light of the situation. Fans saw the Patterns singer take
- 13:18to her Instagram stories to ask Kahan, Noah, what does
- 13:20it feel like to lose three awards for the same song?
- 13:23You actually weirdly start to kind of like it, he replied,
- 13:26So I'm going to losing high right now? Who see
- 13:29what the Grammys? Belleri added with a laugh. Cowboys Cry
- 13:33two was up against two Most Wanted, as well as
- 13:35Break Mine from Brothers Osbourne, Bigger Houses, Dan and Shay,
- 13:38and I had some help post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen Ballerini.
- 13:42Ballerini has been nominated for five Grammys throughout her career,
- 13:46while the Sticks Season singer has received two nods, Neither
- 13:49has taken home a Gramophone yet. The pair's collaboration appears
- 13:53on Ballerini's twenty twenty four album Patterns. Upon its release,
- 13:56the powerful tune instantly became a fan favorite and saw
- 14:00the duet partners showcasing it live on stage at several
- 14:03major award shows. Reflecting on her younger self, Ballerini admitted
- 14:07to Serious Exam that she would have deeply been disappointed
- 14:11by the loss, as certain things used to make her
- 14:13cry myself to sleep. However, she has since gained a
- 14:16new perspective. It allows her to feel more confident in
- 14:19herself and care less about the opinions of others. I
- 14:22don't win things, she said. I mean that sounds really
- 14:25I don't. I'm cool with it now. I've changed my
- 14:26relationship with all of it where I'm like, okay, Well,
- 14:29people identify country music in different ways. Now, Ballerini chooses
- 14:34to place more value on writing her truth. She also
- 14:36added that there's so much else that's going on inward
- 14:40that allows the trophies given out, and sometimes it's the
- 14:42opportunities and experiences that feel like the true wins. And
- 14:47for me, if you get nominated, that means that sometimes,
- 14:50if you're lucky, you get three and a half minutes
- 14:52to sing on a show like the CMAS or the
- 14:54ACMs or the CMTS, you know, and that's an award,
- 14:57she explained.
- 14:58Speaker 2: That's an award.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Now that she's rewired her brain, Ballerini reveals she's happy
- 15:03just to be present and celebrate her friends and fellow artists.
- 15:06I'm good with it, she concluded. The East Tennessee natives
- 15:09stunned on the red carpet in a dazzling black dress
- 15:12just days after delivering a milestone performance at Nashville's Bridge
- 15:16Stone Arena on Friday, January thirty first. The show took
- 15:20place as part of her twenty twenty five headlining tour
- 15:23that will continue to welcome fans to arenas across the
- 15:26US through April. Now we move over to saving country
- 15:30music with the first article dated February fourth, Iconic Willing
- 15:34Nelson Muriel demolished in Austin. The iconic Willing Nelson muriell
- 15:39in downtown Austin, Texas, located at four O seven East
- 15:43seventh Street, was destroyed on Monday morning, as the one
- 15:47hundred year old building it was on the side of
- 15:49underwent demolition to erect a high rise property. The demolition
- 15:53came as a surprise to the mural artist Wiley Ross,
- 15:56who happened to be at the property for a meeting
- 15:58with the building's owners in hopes of recreating the mural
- 16:01in the future. The mural was originally commissioned as a
- 16:05sixty by twenty foot monument to Willie as the backdrop
- 16:08of Heart of Texas Rockfest that was part of south
- 16:11By Southwest in March of twenty sixteen. Though the mura
- 16:15wasn't historic, it was definitely iconic, making for the most
- 16:18visible piece of public music art in the live music
- 16:21capital of the world and a destination for many tourists
- 16:24and Willie Nelson fans. After its original unveiling, the MURA
- 16:28was updated to include another Austin music icon, Janis Joplin.
- 16:32Most recently, the building housed the bar mug It was
- 16:36a bar called Mugshots, but was abandoned when a fire
- 16:39in February of last year resulted in structural damage to
- 16:41the building. The fire was believed to have been caused
- 16:44by homeless in the area. Instead of renovating the property,
- 16:48the owners, Jaffa Parks LLC, decided to demolish it and
- 16:52use the third acre footprint to build a high rise
- 16:54hotel and or residential building. Austin's Historic Landmark Commission did
- 16:59a value both the building and the mural for preservation,
- 17:03but ultimately allowed demolition plans to move forward. The meeting
- 17:08on Monday was between Wiley Ross, the building's owners, Jaffa Parks,
- 17:12as well as nearby business owners whose building is owned
- 17:16by Jaffa and who is exploring recreating the mural on
- 17:19the side of their property. They had no idea the
- 17:22backdrop for the meeting would be the destruction of the
- 17:24original mural, But the good news is there might be
- 17:28possibilities for the mural to be recreated. The adjacent building
- 17:32at four five Seventh Street, which currently houses the Whiskey
- 17:35Bar seven Grand, says they are interested in recreating the
- 17:38mural on the side of their property. This is also
- 17:41the possibility the timing could work out and the mural
- 17:43could be recreated during South By Southwest in mid March,
- 17:47just like it was originally back in twenty sixteen. But
- 17:51even if the mural makes it onto the adjacent building,
- 17:54there are no guarantees that building or mur would be
- 17:57preserved forever either with the current growth in Austin. That's
- 18:01why there is also an effort underway to preserve the
- 18:04mural digitally. No murals often come and go in urban areas.
- 18:07The Willie Nelson murell was unique and had become what
- 18:10felt like an indelible part of Austin's live music culture.
- 18:14If people want to donate or help with the recreation
- 18:16of the mural, that can reach out and visit wili
- 18:19ross dot com. Next, Sierra Ferrell wins big at the
- 18:24Grammy Awards. From a homeless and train hopping busker to
- 18:28one of the fastest rising stars and independent roots music
- 18:32to a now four time Grammy winning artists, the hopeful
- 18:34and inspiring story of singer and songwriter Sierra Ferrell only
- 18:38continues to get sweeter. On Sunday, during the Grammys premier
- 18:42ceremony that precedes the Big telecast on CBS, Sierra Ferrell
- 18:46nearly swept the American Roots categories, where she was nominated
- 18:49four times. Farrell won all four categories, walking away with
- 18:52trophies for Best American Album, Best Roots Song with co
- 18:57writer Melody Walker, Best Americana Performance, Best American Roots Performance
- 19:01for Lighthouse. These wins will not just make Sierra Farrell
- 19:05one of the biggest winners in country and roots music,
- 19:07it will make her one of the biggest Grammy getters
- 19:09in twenty twenty five, if not the biggest. Before the
- 19:12night was over, Sierra showed up in a white dress
- 19:15with a skepter where she had her speech stashed for
- 19:17her first win. Wow, Wow, thank you so much, Sierra said,
- 19:21accepting the first award Best Americana Performance. I want to
- 19:24say thank you to my mom for one. I love
- 19:26my mother, and to my little dog Baker, and to
- 19:29my production crew at his Spear and Gary Posa and
- 19:32my gals out on the road with me.
- 19:33Speaker 2: That keep the wheels rolling.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I obviously wasn't expecting this, and I want to thank
- 19:38everyone in the category because everyone's so beautiful in their
- 19:40own way and they have their own essence. Best American
- 19:45Roots Performance was handed out later in the presentation with
- 19:47the Country Awards. When returning to the stage for her
- 19:50fourth acceptance speech, Farrell said, I got so caught up
- 19:52earlier from the anxiety of winning something that I had
- 19:55forgot to thank the most important thing, which is God.
- 19:58The power of prayer is so powerful, so don't forget
- 20:00to say your prayers. The writing was on the wall
- 20:03that Sierra Ferrell could have a big Grammy Week at
- 20:05the end of twenty four, when her most recent album,
- 20:08Trail of Flowers, ended up at the top of many
- 20:10twenty twenty four end of year lists, including Becoming Saving
- 20:14Country Music's twenty twenty four album of the Year. Farrell
- 20:18was also selected to perform at Music Cares Person of
- 20:22the Year Galla the night before the Grammys, honoring The
- 20:24Grateful Dead. Sierra dressed like the Dead's skull and Roses
- 20:28character with a crown of roses in her hair and
- 20:30appropriately performed the deads It must have been the Roses
- 20:33with Lucas Nelson. For some music artists, a Grammy award
- 20:37is icing on the cake. For a performer like Si
- 20:39Sierra Ferrell, it's not just validating, it can be career changing.
- 20:44Already selling out theaters across the US and set to
- 20:47open stadium shows for post Malone in twenty twenty five,
- 20:50the Winds could significantly bolster Sierra even more, finally putting
- 20:54a woman on par with other top independent performers such
- 20:57as Tyler Childers, Stergel Simpson, and Bi Strings. Although to
- 21:02some all music awards are silly, for others they seem
- 21:05especially sweet from the hard work and perseverance that led
- 21:08up to them. That certainly feels like the case for
- 21:11Sierra Ferrell. Here's some additional winners from the Grammy Awards
- 21:14that I missed earlier. Best Bluegrass Album, Billy Strings for
- 21:18Live Volume, one country song the architect Shane McAnally, Casey
- 21:23Musgraves and Josh Osborne songwriters Casey Musgraves saying that the
- 21:28best country duo and group performance we mentioned this earlier
- 21:32to most wanted Beyonce featuring Miley Cyrus. And let's see,
- 21:37there's one other one I missed here that oh here
- 21:39it is country solo performance of course, Chris Stapleton for
- 21:42It Takes a Woman.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Next.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Joe Eli health concerns revealed ahead of new album. Country
- 21:50rock and roots music legend Joe Eli announced a new
- 21:53album recently called Love and Freedom that's due out on
- 21:56February seventh. Co produced by fellow Texas panhand legend Lloyd Mains,
- 22:01who also performs on six of the new album's tracks,
- 22:04Love and Freedom is being released by Rackham Record via
- 22:07Thirty Tigers. To me, Love and Freedom is a reminder
- 22:10of the times we're living in right now, and I
- 22:12hope it resonates with whoever takes time to listen. Joe
- 22:14Eli is quoted as saying about the new album, it
- 22:18was a bit strange that the album was announced on
- 22:20January twenty fourth for a February seventh release date. Usually
- 22:24six weeks to two months come between an announcement and
- 22:26a release. Eli has also been out of the public
- 22:29eye for an extended period. Then Thursday evening, now that's
- 22:32the thirtieth of January, Joe Eli's wife and manager, Sharon Eli,
- 22:36took to social media to explain what was happening. Joe
- 22:39had been suffering from some serious health issues lately. Joe
- 22:44and his wife Sharon, currently live in Taos, New Mexico,
- 22:47but traveled to Austin to see a neurologist about his condition.
- 22:50They're also planning to travel to Arizona next week for
- 22:52a second opinion as he continues to be treated by
- 22:55his regular doctor in New Mexico. Along with the upcoming
- 22:59album released, Joe Eli has been announced as one of
- 23:01the honorees for the twenty twenty five American Music Honors,
- 23:04administered by Bruce Springsteen's Archives and Center for American Music.
- 23:09Since Joe Eli's music straddles rock and country, his legacy
- 23:12has never been properly commemorated in either genre, despite the
- 23:16significant influence as music has had on fellow performers. Springsteen
- 23:20called Eli and told him his sixty years of contributions
- 23:23to American music were worth recognizing. Meanwhile, the track list
- 23:28on Joe Eli's Love and Freedom a new album is
- 23:31Shake Him Up, Addio's Sweet Dreams, Magdalene Deporte, Waiting Around
- 23:36to Die, Sergeant Playlock Today It did, Band of Angels
- 23:40for the sake of the song, Here's to the Brave,
- 23:42What kind of War No One Wins?
- 23:45Speaker 2: And Surrender to the West.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Next, Alison Kraus and Union Station announced first album in
- 23:52fourteen years. Near the end of twenty twenty four, legendary
- 23:56bluegrass collective Alison Krause and Union Station announced their reunification
- 24:01for the first time in a decade, with some seventy
- 24:04five plus shows to transpire over the coming year. Now
- 24:07we get him from confirmation of a new album on
- 24:10the way called Arcadia. It will be released on March
- 24:13twenty eighth by Down the Road Records, owned in part
- 24:15by Ken Irwin, who Kraus signed with as a fourteen
- 24:18year old bluegrass prodigy. Joining Kraus in Union Station will
- 24:23be Jerry Douglas on dobro lap steel vocals, Ron Block
- 24:27banjo guitar and vocals, and Barry Bales bassin vocals, along
- 24:30with newest member Russell Moore from the Bluegrass band. Third
- 24:33time out as the band's frontman, More won six IBMA.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Awards as Male Vocalist of the Year.
- 24:40Speaker 1: He helps replace Don Taminsky, who has focused more on
- 24:43a solo career these days, but does appear in the
- 24:45songwriting credits for the new record. Alison Kraus herself contributes
- 24:50the song Richmond on the James to the new album,
- 24:53co written with G. T. Burgess, but mostly she assembles
- 24:56songs written by others for the first album with Union
- 24:58Station in fourteen years. This includes covering J. D. McPherson's
- 25:02North Side Gal, a song perhaps Kraus was exposed to
- 25:05when mc pherson was playing guitar behind Kraus and Robert Plant.
- 25:10Alison Krause says about the songs on the album, the
- 25:12stories of the past or told in music, if that
- 25:15whole idea of in the good old days when times
- 25:17were bad. There's so much bravery and valor and loyalty
- 25:20in dreaming of family and themes of human existence that
- 25:23we're told in a certain way. When our grandparents were alive,
- 25:26someone asked me, how do you sing these tragic tunes?
- 25:29Speaker 2: I have to. It's a calling.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I feel privileged to be a messenger of somebody else's
- 25:33story and I want to hear what happened a head
- 25:36of the new album, The opening track looks like the
- 25:38End of the Road has been released, with the distinct
- 25:40tones of the Jerry Douglas dobro complimenting the tomb. Collectively,
- 25:44the current members of Alison Krause and Union Station have
- 25:47seventy Grammy nominations between them.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Both.
- 25:50Speaker 1: There upcoming tour starting in April, as well as Arcadia
- 25:53will be highly anticipated in the Americana, Bluegrass world and beyond.
- 25:58And finally, we move over to the book boo dot
- 26:00com with the first article dated February fourth. Six country
- 26:04stars who skipped the twenty twenty five Grammy Awards. Beyonce,
- 26:09who won many awards, Lady Wilson, Shaboozie, and Casey Musgraves,
- 26:12who won an award, represented country music at the twenty
- 26:15twenty five Grammy Awards on Sunday. The sixth nominated artists
- 26:19beyond that we have a list here did not attend.
- 26:22It's a list that includes one winner and another of
- 26:25country's most perennial nominees. Morgan Wallen had two nominations. He
- 26:30missed the Grammys for a second straight year. This is
- 26:32becoming a trend for the Smile singer. He also skipped
- 26:35the twenty twenty four CMA Awards, where he won Entertainer
- 26:38of the Year. Chris Stapleton, who won an award, had
- 26:43two nominations. This is the second straight year, though, that
- 26:45Chris has skipped the Grammys. After three state years, three
- 26:49straight years in attendance. Since breaking out, he's attended most
- 26:52years and done quite well. He's got eleven Lifetime Grammys.
- 26:56The brothers Osbourne who had one nomination, they have been
- 27:00nominated for a Grammy every year since twenty sixteen. It's
- 27:03a streak with no equivalent in country music. Often they
- 27:06attend the LA Awards show, but this year TJ and
- 27:08John Osborne set it out. Jelly Roll had two nominations,
- 27:12but he did not attend the Grammy Awards, which was
- 27:15a bit of a surprise because because he was in
- 27:18LA a few days earlier and his stylists told Yahoo
- 27:21all about the look she'd designed for So far, the
- 27:24I Am Not Okay singer hasn't commented on the show.
- 27:29Lou Colmbs had one nomination, but he was not there either.
- 27:32He has scored a Grammy nomination every year since twenty nineteen,
- 27:36with one exception, and that was in twenty one. His
- 27:39twenty twenty five nomination was in a lesser known category,
- 27:42Best Song Written for Visual Media, Ain't Low Love in
- 27:44Oklahoma from the Twisters soundtrack. He was nominated, but he's
- 27:48in the middle of an Australian tour and Dan and
- 27:51Shay they had one nomination. They won the Best Country
- 27:55Duo Group Performance for three state years, but have been
- 27:57shut out since their twenty twenty two wins. This year,
- 28:01they were nominated for Bigger Houses, but neither singer showed.
- 28:05Shay Mooney's wife recently had a baby, which may have
- 28:07played a role in their decision to stay home well.
- 28:12This concludes the reading of Country Weekly for this week.
