- 0:11Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation. Welcome to an exhausted and out
- 0:16Speaker 2: of breath Michael Bennett. This is a Thursday, July thirtieth.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I hope everybody's having a great day so far as
- 0:22Speaker 2: it's been a whirlwind day for me, that's for certain.
- 0:25Speaker 2: But dah, how do you like that? Justin Kaylin, you
- 0:28Speaker 2: didn't have to do a thing. I'm so mad. I'm
- 0:31Speaker 2: so mad.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I was for the last four minutes. I'm sitting over
- 0:35Speaker 3: here practicing.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Oh oh, I like that.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I was prepared, I was ready, and then I hear
- 0:42Speaker 3: your door slam over there, and I'm like, damn it.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I don't get much of him.
- 0:45Speaker 2: No, no, I listen. I think you need to play
- 0:48Speaker 2: the intro all over again and do it. No, I
- 0:51Speaker 2: I listen. I have stolen your thunder and I apolaug.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Get get the get the get the intro back up.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Do it.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I just wanted to. I just wanted to do it
- 0:58Speaker 3: one time.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Do it.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I listen, get the intro. I am not kidding, get
- 1:01Speaker 2: the intro back up. Let's do it, all right.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Oh, Big Blue Nation, welcome in to Just the Cats.
- 1:18Speaker 3: If you want to be a part of the show today,
- 1:20Speaker 3: you can hit us up at five oh two three
- 1:22Speaker 3: eight four fourteen fifty. You want to be a part
- 1:24Speaker 3: of the conversation on the Whiskey Thief text line five
- 1:27Speaker 3: oh two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 1:31Speaker 2: That's all I wanted to do. And you know what
- 1:34Speaker 2: my job is done? I mean, I I I am complete.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I don't need to be here. I just need to
- 1:40Speaker 2: go ahead and go back out to Churchill Downs. I'm done.
- 1:43Speaker 2: That was That was far better than I ever could
- 1:45Speaker 2: have done. Right there. Okay, I never say if you
- 1:48Speaker 2: want to be in the conversation. I never say if
- 1:50Speaker 2: you want to join? If I just say for you're all, yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 2: you do a great job. I couldn't remember the exact goal. No,
- 1:56Speaker 2: I like what you said, if you want to join
- 1:58Speaker 2: the conversation, because that's what we do every day exactly.
- 2:01Speaker 2: We have a conversation and people join in.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Now.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Do we get many phone calls? No, And that's okay.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I'm hoping one day we get more phone calls. It'll
- 2:10Speaker 2: probably be the day I get the most phone calls
- 2:13Speaker 2: be the probably the last day I'm here. On the air.
- 2:15Speaker 2: But that's okay. I would like to have more phone calls,
- 2:18Speaker 2: but we'll see. I enjoyed the text line, and I
- 2:22Speaker 2: know a number of y'all enjoy communicating with Justin and myself,
- 2:26Speaker 2: you know, the sunrise with Scoots and just the guests.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But anyway, Uh yeah, it's it's already been a whirlwind
- 2:33Speaker 2: morning without a doubt. Well let's hear about well are
- 2:38Speaker 2: we do? We have a race horse? Uh he didn't
- 2:42Speaker 2: go from the gate today, so that's yeah, all that
- 2:45Speaker 2: trouble only to find out not Michael, We're gonna give
- 2:48Speaker 2: him a little more time. We'll take him from the
- 2:50Speaker 2: gate next week. I'm like, oh my gods.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So he didn't even get in.
- 2:54Speaker 2: No, no, no, no. So he did breeze, so he did.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You know what a breeze is right as similar, Well,
- 3:01Speaker 2: it's more than a jog. I mean, he's outright running
- 3:04Speaker 2: and he went, uh four furlong, So I have mal
- 3:08Speaker 2: and what did it in forty seven? Which is really good?
- 3:11Speaker 2: He did it with another horse and just left the
- 3:13Speaker 2: other horse. So yeah, he did a really nice job.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And I spoke to uh Martin Garcia, who is the
- 3:21Speaker 2: derby riding Uh jockey that that. He's like, Michael, I
- 3:26Speaker 2: love this horse. I just want you to know I
- 3:28Speaker 2: am not feeding you a bunch of bs. I love
- 3:31Speaker 2: this horse. I'm not gonna say what else he said,
- 3:34Speaker 2: because it's like, come on, Martin, you're just putting Michael,
- 3:38Speaker 2: I'm not doing it. So anyway, it's just a breeze though.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Let's see how he does in a race. You can't
- 3:43Speaker 2: get overly excited about practice.
- 3:45Speaker 3: So he didn't even go through the gate stuff today.
- 3:48Speaker 2: No, he didn't do any of the gate stuff today.
- 3:50Speaker 2: He's going to do the gate stuff next week. They
- 3:51Speaker 2: wanted to give him another week before they went through that. Yeah, okay,
- 3:56Speaker 2: so yeah, I was bumped about it. Is there a way?
- 3:59Speaker 3: So you know, with dogs, he can like give them
- 4:01Speaker 3: trees to sit and chase and all that. Is there
- 4:04Speaker 3: a way to do the same with a horse. Yeah,
- 4:06Speaker 3: that's what I should.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Do, Hang out in front with a peppermint or a
- 4:10Speaker 2: carrot and get him to come. No, what they do
- 4:14Speaker 2: is because it wasn't that he was scared. He wasn't
- 4:17Speaker 2: scared at all. It was that he wasn't paying attention.
- 4:19Speaker 2: He just kept kind of dancing around, going back and forth.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And so what they do when they're practicing coming out
- 4:26Speaker 2: of the gate, they take all the pads off that
- 4:30Speaker 2: surround the gate, so when you're in there, it's pretty loose,
- 4:33Speaker 2: so you can kind of move around and stuff make
- 4:35Speaker 2: them comfortable. But when it's race day and when they
- 4:38Speaker 2: want them to stimulate a real race, they'll add the
- 4:42Speaker 2: pads because it's really tight for the horses and that
- 4:45Speaker 2: makes them want to get out of there. So that's
- 4:47Speaker 2: why so they next week when they do this again,
- 4:50Speaker 2: they'll put the pads in there as if it's a
- 4:52Speaker 2: real race to encourage him to come out. YEAHR And
- 4:55Speaker 2: Martin Garcia, the jockey, has already said Michael, I know
- 4:59Speaker 2: what to do. I know what to do. I'll be ready.
- 5:02Speaker 2: So and I love that. I now getting to the
- 5:05Speaker 2: point where you know, you have communication with the trainer,
- 5:08Speaker 2: you have communication with the other owners. Now you have
- 5:12Speaker 2: communication with the actual jockey. It's a different level. I mean,
- 5:16Speaker 2: he's describing exactly what he's going to do to me,
- 5:19Speaker 2: and I've never experienced that in my life. It's awesome.
- 5:22Speaker 2: It is awesome. And and of course you know this
- 5:26Speaker 2: is not just Michael Bennett. I want everybody to know
- 5:28Speaker 2: This is not Michael Bennett owning this horse, okay, and
- 5:30Speaker 2: all these horses. This is a group that I put together,
- 5:34Speaker 2: and it's it's a partnership. I do you want to join?
- 5:36Speaker 2: You can look up seeing it killstable dot com and
- 5:39Speaker 2: contact me that way. So it's it's not everybody thinks
- 5:42Speaker 2: that I'm owning all these horses. No, I own a
- 5:45Speaker 2: little bit, but no, I don't own uh, I don't
- 5:48Speaker 2: own them by myself. How's that? So? Yeah, it's it's
- 5:51Speaker 2: a syndicate. Yeah. So, and I've never had so much
- 5:54Speaker 2: fun in my life now, I will tell you I
- 5:57Speaker 2: never had so much fun in my life. Last night,
- 5:59Speaker 2: I want is it gonna watch? I'd promise my wife
- 6:02Speaker 2: we would watch The Bear. I don't know if you've
- 6:04Speaker 2: seen that or not.
- 6:05Speaker 3: It's good.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I have to say. It's one of my more favorite
- 6:11Speaker 2: shows that I've watched. And we watched the last episode
- 6:14Speaker 2: last night. So the night before we watched the second
- 6:17Speaker 2: to last and.
- 6:18Speaker 3: My last one ever.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yes, the last one ever. You're exactly correct. So and
- 6:22Speaker 2: I and Buttres like, okay, I can't wait till tomorrow night. Well,
- 6:25Speaker 2: tomorrow tomorrow night came and I'm like, oh man, Law
- 6:28Speaker 2: Familia is playing, so I started recording it and we watched.
- 6:32Speaker 2: So you're texting me, are you watching this game? Wo's
- 6:35Speaker 2: on TV? I mean, you got all excited because Wu
- 6:38Speaker 2: orbsuit was on there. So turns out Wu was sitting courtside.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I saw that and you could see him every time
- 6:45Speaker 2: they went down to the left side, which I love that. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:49Speaker 2: I mean, how can I you not love a little
- 6:51Speaker 2: Wu out there? So it was pretty fun to see
- 6:53Speaker 2: him out there. But uh, yeah, I had to watch
- 6:57Speaker 2: The Bear. And I don't know any of the actors' names.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I know the one lead actor. He was in Breaking Bad?
- 7:05Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 7:06Speaker 4: Or not?
- 7:06Speaker 2: Breaking? It wasn't Breaking Bad, was it? It was another really
- 7:10Speaker 2: famous show that he was in. Yeah, it's okay, don't
- 7:14Speaker 2: worry about it. But he was. It's so if you
- 7:17Speaker 2: haven't seen The Bear, you're missing out. And I'm telling
- 7:21Speaker 2: you right now you have to go watch the show
- 7:24Speaker 2: and Shameless, that's it. Yes, I knew it was a
- 7:29Speaker 2: really famous show, but he was in that. Now he's
- 7:32Speaker 2: in this show about a restaurant, And I told my
- 7:37Speaker 2: wife last night, I said, I never knew I show
- 7:39Speaker 2: about a restaurant would be so good. And the guy
- 7:42Speaker 2: that's the matre d He by far is my favorite
- 7:46Speaker 2: character in the entire show. I love that guy. And
- 7:50Speaker 2: then you got the one chef that's that's in there
- 7:53Speaker 2: with the British accent. That freaked me out because you know,
- 7:56Speaker 2: he was in We're We're the Millers. Yeah, he was
- 8:00Speaker 2: one of the adopted kids in the in the Miller's
- 8:03Speaker 2: or whatever it's called. And it's like, Okay, this freaks
- 8:06Speaker 2: me out because in that movie with Jason Sadaikas, he
- 8:09Speaker 2: speaks with a perfect American accent. And then I look
- 8:13Speaker 2: him up only to find out he's from England. It's like,
- 8:16Speaker 2: oh my gosh, man, that really messed me up. But
- 8:20Speaker 2: we watched the ending last night, and I have to say,
- 8:24Speaker 2: as far as the bear goes, and I'm not going
- 8:26Speaker 2: to tell you how it ends or anything like that
- 8:28Speaker 2: before you go watch it, but I was disappointed.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Oh not a good ending.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Have you not seen the ending yet?
- 8:35Speaker 3: Now I've only seen the first two seasons.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I'm not saying don't stop watching because it's still unbelievable.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Even the last episode is unbelievable, but yeah, I was.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I was a little disappointed. But anyway, God, what a
- 8:50Speaker 2: great show. It's one of those shows I can name
- 8:53Speaker 2: the shows. I would go back and watch Poops Creek.
- 8:59Speaker 2: I would go back, I can watch Righteous jim Stones.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I'm trying to think what else is out there? The Office,
- 9:06Speaker 2: which I watch all the time, and then this show
- 9:09Speaker 2: right here, the Bear that's Force. And there's not many
- 9:13Speaker 2: TV shows I would go back and watch. But I
- 9:15Speaker 2: did those, and then as soon as the show is over,
- 9:17Speaker 2: I'm like, Patricia, I gotta turn this on. I can't
- 9:20Speaker 2: wait anymore. And I was trying to watch the Bear
- 9:22Speaker 2: and watch the basketball game on my phone.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I mean, all you had to do was watch the
- 9:26Speaker 3: beginning of the basketball game and you could have quit.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Wow, you're exactly correct, And you know what, I don't
- 9:32Speaker 2: think either of us could foresee that coming last night.
- 9:36Speaker 3: By the way, Michael, you were wrong. I love when
- 9:39Speaker 3: you pick against Kucky. You're always You're always wrong. You're
- 9:44Speaker 3: the worst of predictions.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Ever. That is true. Now you did get one right,
- 9:50Speaker 2: but that's not UK. So I mean that's an alumni team.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Let's clarify this, all right. So, but uh, anyway, it
- 9:59Speaker 2: was a fun game. I will have to say I
- 10:02Speaker 2: I have enjoyed this tournament, and I tweeted this out
- 10:05Speaker 2: last night for those of you that have not and
- 10:08Speaker 2: and make fun of this tournament. And it's not the
- 10:10Speaker 2: UK fans, but it's because you don't your school does
- 10:14Speaker 2: not have a team in it, or your school is
- 10:18Speaker 2: not doing well in that tournament. I mean, it's It
- 10:21Speaker 2: is legitimately one of the funnest things to watch during
- 10:23Speaker 2: the summertime. Now, I know we had the whole soccer
- 10:27Speaker 2: thing going on World Cup, but I'm just I'm just
- 10:30Speaker 2: not a soccer fan.
- 10:31Speaker 3: He speaking of soccer, did you know they do a
- 10:33Speaker 3: soccer version of the TBT?
- 10:35Speaker 5: Oh?
- 10:35Speaker 2: Do they really? An alumni version?
- 10:38Speaker 3: It's called TST Really, I don't know if they did
- 10:41Speaker 3: it this year, but I know they haven't passed years.
- 10:43Speaker 2: For who all teams from all over the country are
- 10:47Speaker 2: all the world.
- 10:47Speaker 3: It's ran just the same way that the TBT is.
- 10:50Speaker 3: It's just soccer instead of pastas. Oh it's college yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 3: oh okay, but it's like a seven on seven instead
- 10:58Speaker 3: of eleven on eleven.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Okay. Is it elevised.
- 11:02Speaker 3: I'm sure you could find it somewhere. Yeah, it says
- 11:05Speaker 3: the broadcaster on NBC Peacock and NBC Network.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Okay, well good for them. No, I did not know that.
- 11:12Speaker 2: But anyway, so, man, the leader of this team is
- 11:18Speaker 2: one person. I mean, we can just admit it right now.
- 11:21Speaker 2: The leader of this team. By the way U of
- 11:24Speaker 2: l fans, it's a UK player, Okay, so you can't
- 11:26Speaker 2: make fun of this team that is not a UK player.
- 11:29Speaker 2: It's Archie Goodwe yeah, and he If it weren't for
- 11:32Speaker 2: Archie Goodwin coming back to this team, I think we
- 11:36Speaker 2: would have lost to U of l oh for sure. Yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 2: and I think the season would have been over by then, because,
- 11:42Speaker 2: I mean, he does it again last night. Would you
- 11:44Speaker 2: have thirty points the other night against who did they play?
- 11:50Speaker 2: Beahem's Army? Beajim's Army Syracuse? And last night he had
- 11:53Speaker 2: twenty eight points. I mean, the dude's averaging what twenty
- 11:56Speaker 2: eight twenty nine points a game?
- 11:58Speaker 3: He twenty eight thirty.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Okay, so twenty twenty five points a game is what
- 12:03Speaker 2: he's averaging.
- 12:03Speaker 3: He's the They said it on the broadcast multiple times.
- 12:06Speaker 3: He's the leading scorer in the whole tournament.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Oh is he really? I didn't realize that they've said it.
- 12:11Speaker 3: They said it two or three times, and it's like
- 12:14Speaker 3: based on per game average, Yes, he is the leading
- 12:17Speaker 3: scorer of the tournament. Based on overall scoring, No way,
- 12:21Speaker 3: because he didn't play.
- 12:22Speaker 2: In two games. Oh okay, I got you. So there's
- 12:25Speaker 2: no way he's the overall leader. But if he would,
- 12:28Speaker 2: if he would have, he could have.
- 12:30Speaker 3: I think it's easy to see that. I heard a
- 12:33Speaker 3: lot leading up to the game last night that Archie
- 12:35Speaker 3: Goodwin's the best player on the floor, He's maybe the
- 12:38Speaker 3: best player in this tournament. And I thought that was
- 12:40Speaker 3: kind of a crock But after watching not the last
- 12:44Speaker 3: two games, that might be accurate.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Seeah, I think so too. I just because you look
- 12:50Speaker 2: at this and you think, why is he playing in
- 12:52Speaker 2: this besides making a little bit of money. Is it
- 12:57Speaker 2: to show maybe the NBA teams that hate he can
- 13:00Speaker 2: still play out there and maybe possibly get a tryout
- 13:04Speaker 2: with somebody, Or you think, no, I don't think so.
- 13:06Speaker 3: He's playing in Korea for a reason.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, because he's making money out there and that's the
- 13:11Speaker 2: only place.
- 13:12Speaker 3: If he's been that good in the TBT, imagine how
- 13:15Speaker 3: good he is in Korea.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I don't know what he averages over there, but that
- 13:19Speaker 2: it was fun to watch now, I will say Willie
- 13:23Speaker 2: cary Stein has really stepped it up. He's been fun
- 13:26Speaker 2: to watch. Adding Darryl Morsel has been a big benefit
- 13:31Speaker 2: to this team. And then you look at Sean McNeil
- 13:35Speaker 2: and Chris Coffee. Thank you, thank you for joining this team.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So anyway, Coffee's awesome. Yeah, he is.
- 13:42Speaker 3: I like watching him. Tell me why. He's just every
- 13:46Speaker 3: time I watch a lot familiar. He's one of those
- 13:48Speaker 3: guys that's just everywhere he is. He's the definition of
- 13:52Speaker 3: a dog out there on the floor. He's diving after balls,
- 13:55Speaker 3: he's tipping like, he's getting his hands in the passing lane.
- 13:59Speaker 3: He just does it all. Oh, I really like the
- 14:00Speaker 3: way his game, his game works for this.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Now, I'll have to say I got nervous at the
- 14:05Speaker 2: end when I started watching it on my normal TV,
- 14:07Speaker 2: not my phone. It's like they're up by what was it,
- 14:10Speaker 2: nineteen twenty points?
- 14:11Speaker 3: It was it was seventy four to fifty five at
- 14:15Speaker 3: one point, okay, nineteen points, so you all needed three
- 14:18Speaker 3: and they needed twenty two. And it took him like
- 14:20Speaker 3: thirty minutes to get two points.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Forever. I thought the game was over when Archie Goodwin
- 14:25Speaker 2: got found and he went to the free throw line
- 14:27Speaker 2: for two shot and then missed. All he needed to
- 14:29Speaker 2: do was make one, and he missed both. I'm like, oh,
- 14:33Speaker 2: this is not good. I'm thinking, there's no way Kansas
- 14:37Speaker 2: Jayhawks what do they call them, jay jayhawks hoops? Yeah, well,
- 14:42Speaker 2: I mean jayhawks. I mean that's what it stands for,
- 14:44Speaker 2: doesn't it, jayhawks hoops. There's no way they could come back.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But then I'm like, okay, now I started watching the game.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Should I turn it back off? Because they went literally
- 14:54Speaker 2: was it about ten or fifteen ten minutes that felt
- 14:58Speaker 2: like an hour and didn't score a point and you're
- 15:01Speaker 2: seeing Kansas alumni coming back and score and score and score,
- 15:05Speaker 2: and both teams are exhausted. Oh yeah, I don't think
- 15:12Speaker 2: they could go another fifteen to twenty minutes that game
- 15:14Speaker 2: got tied. Explain to me this though. This is the
- 15:17Speaker 2: one thing I haven't looked up and I haven't found out.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Why how do they come up with the final score?
- 15:22Speaker 2: What they have to score?
- 15:24Speaker 3: So it's the first stoppage after the four minutes. So
- 15:29Speaker 3: when you get under four minutes in that fourth quarter, yes,
- 15:32Speaker 3: the first stopage that sets the target score. So you
- 15:35Speaker 3: add eight to whoever's winning. Oh, you add eight to
- 15:38Speaker 3: whoever's winning. Yeah, and it's always adding eight correct. Okay,
- 15:42Speaker 3: all right, why do they do that? Why don't they
- 15:44Speaker 3: just do it by the clock, because I mean, it
- 15:47Speaker 3: just adds more intrigue and makes it more entertaining. You
- 15:50Speaker 3: like that, Yeah, because you get every game ends in
- 15:53Speaker 3: a game winner. It's awesome. Oh okay, that's like that
- 15:57Speaker 3: was the excitement. It's manufactured, ex I meant, but it works.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I'll tell you this. The crowd did a
- 16:04Speaker 2: great job last night. Every time the Jayhawks hoops had
- 16:07Speaker 2: the ball, you could hear that crowd. There was a
- 16:11Speaker 2: different level of energy that we haven't heard the last
- 16:14Speaker 2: three games between the Bill, last game, Bahimes, well, no,
- 16:20Speaker 2: the last two games, then Bajims and this game. There
- 16:24Speaker 2: was a level of energy that was really what you know,
- 16:28Speaker 2: TBT really likes. And I think I have to believe
- 16:32Speaker 2: they're thankful that La Familia is in this game. Yeah
- 16:36Speaker 2: for sure, because as much as I tried to look,
- 16:40Speaker 2: it looked like the upper level it wasn't completely full,
- 16:43Speaker 2: but it was. It was more than it had exactly,
- 16:47Speaker 2: So credit to them, Credit to the fans that showed
- 16:50Speaker 2: up for that game. I'm excited to talk to Corey
- 16:53Speaker 2: Price next week because I'm sure he's going back for Sunday.
- 16:56Speaker 2: And now we got to wait till tonight to see
- 16:57Speaker 2: who wins between the and Davis.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Steele formally Everline Drive.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Why is it formally Everline Drive.
- 17:07Speaker 3: That's because they so David Steel has been in this
- 17:10Speaker 3: tournament every year. They just changed their name. Oh they did,
- 17:12Speaker 3: They were everline Drive. Is this a sponsorship thing? Probably
- 17:18Speaker 3: in the Mecca?
- 17:19Speaker 2: Okay, all right, then, well that game is at four
- 17:22Speaker 2: o'clock this afternoon Pacific time, which means it's seven o'clock here.
- 17:26Speaker 2: By the way.
- 17:27Speaker 3: David Steele is Archie's old team, so Philly, we got
- 17:31Speaker 3: a root for them if they win. Lot familiar wins
- 17:36Speaker 3: really yeah, because I mean, just think of how much
- 17:39Speaker 3: that's going to motivate Archie, right, going up against his
- 17:42Speaker 3: old old guys he used to play with.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I tell you, because I'm trying to think who does
- 17:46Speaker 2: it motivate the most? I would agree with you there,
- 17:48Speaker 2: but I'll tell you what. Knowing that this is Willie
- 17:51Speaker 2: cauley Stein's last game in his lifetime, you gotta believe
- 17:56Speaker 2: he is really motivated win this game. He wants to
- 17:58Speaker 2: go out. So does Aaron Harrison. I mean, you look
- 18:02Speaker 2: at these players, this is it because do you see
- 18:06Speaker 2: you don't you see?
- 18:07Speaker 3: You don't think Andrew will play again?
- 18:09Speaker 2: I don't know. I was trying to figure out. I
- 18:11Speaker 2: think he's young. The roster really, on the current roster,
- 18:16Speaker 2: UK players only Willie Cauley Stein Andrew Harrison. I say
- 18:20Speaker 2: to Aaron Archie Goodwin, then you got Quade Green, Khalil
- 18:26Speaker 2: Whitney and is that it? Marcus Lee? Uh and DeAndre Liggins.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Who do you think comes back to play again? I
- 18:36Speaker 2: think both.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I think you'll have both Harrisons next year. They're only really,
- 18:39Speaker 3: they're only thirty one. I mean, I don't know why
- 18:41Speaker 3: Aaron didn't play this year, but yeah, he'll be thirty.
- 18:44Speaker 3: He's gonna regret it now. Khalil Whitney's twenty five, he'll
- 18:48Speaker 3: be back.
- 18:49Speaker 6: Uh.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Wiggins may be probably done. He's he's getting up there.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Let's see how old he is. He's thirty eight. Yeah, man,
- 18:57Speaker 3: it just depends. I think all these guys can can
- 19:00Speaker 3: tinue to.
- 19:00Speaker 2: You start wondering now the players that were supposed to
- 19:04Speaker 2: play and then didn't play, how they feel It's like, man,
- 19:08Speaker 2: I could have had some extra cash in my pocket, right,
- 19:10Speaker 2: not even just a little bit a lot. Yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 3: So as Willie came out and said he's done.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yes, yes, said he's only bit he's only thirty two,
- 19:19Speaker 2: I know, but he has said this is it.
- 19:21Speaker 3: That's wild. So I wonder if winning this year would change.
- 19:25Speaker 2: That tomorrow or why wouldn't you want to go out
- 19:29Speaker 2: as a champion though?
- 19:30Speaker 3: Or what if they look like if they lose in
- 19:32Speaker 3: the championship, does that change for Willie? Does he potentially
- 19:35Speaker 3: come back next year?
- 19:36Speaker 2: No, he's been pretty adamant this is it. Well yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 2: I know, yeah, if they lose, you wonder at that point.
- 19:45Speaker 2: But but if you win, I think you go out
- 19:47Speaker 2: as a champion, just like all right, just like with
- 19:50Speaker 2: Lebron James, if they had won the NBA Finals this year,
- 19:55Speaker 2: do you think he would be looking at coming back
- 19:57Speaker 2: for another year?
- 19:59Speaker 3: Yeah? Because he he is a thousand percent of.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Retirement tour guy. Huh okay, And if he he once
- 20:07Speaker 2: had attention in other words, absolutely, he's an a He
- 20:09Speaker 2: definitely is an attention seeker, especially the way he flops.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Uh but all right, sorry, I know, I'm so sorry.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, all right, Uh, I want to talk
- 20:18Speaker 2: about this some more. Plus Uh, we got a lot
- 20:20Speaker 2: to talk about today, and I'd love it if everybody
- 20:22Speaker 2: joined in and tell me some things you'd like to
- 20:25Speaker 2: talk about. But uh, fibo two three eight four fourteen fifty.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You want to call in five two four one four
- 20:31Speaker 2: fourteen fifty, you want to text in on the whiskey
- 20:33Speaker 2: feed text line, or you can tweet me at just
- 20:35Speaker 2: the Cat Raid. By the way, La familie, you got
- 20:38Speaker 2: a special tweet last night and we'll talk about that
- 20:40Speaker 2: as soon as we get back too. I don't know
- 20:42Speaker 2: if you saw it or not, but uh, this is
- 20:44Speaker 2: just the cats. I'm catching my breast still, I've been
- 20:47Speaker 2: running all morning. I love my life. Stay right there.
- 20:50Speaker 2: We'll see him innute, searching for salt.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Some people blame their air long blame, but I don't
- 21:08Speaker 4: know wool looking back in.
- 21:29Speaker 7: The background, trying to figure out how I ever got here.
- 21:35Speaker 7: Something still a mystery to me, while others much too
- 21:40Speaker 7: clean Rhyme'm just living in the sunshine stick.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Continuous, close through the time. Yeah, it's perfect, walk around.
- 21:52Speaker 8: Let's sing me there Texas rhyme.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Wow, I hadn't heard this song in a long time?
- 21:57Speaker 4: Good?
- 21:58Speaker 2: Right there? Had you you've heard of this song? Right?
- 22:02Speaker 3: I mean I feel like I've heard all of Jimmy
- 22:04Speaker 3: Buffett's songs at some point or another, because I've been
- 22:06Speaker 3: playing them for two years now.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Oh come on now, okay, fine, stop playing them then?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Heck no, okay, this is a great text by the way.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Uh five two four fifty. Someone texted in is there
- 22:22Speaker 2: a name? No, there's not. Oh, don't do it. This
- 22:26Speaker 2: horse doesn't pay attention. My god, Michael, this is the
- 22:29Speaker 2: perfect horse for you. I love that. That is so hilarious.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Thank you very much. That's a good laugh right there.
- 22:42Speaker 2: But Jamie was it? Okay? It was Jamie? Okay? Good?
- 22:45Speaker 5: Uh?
- 22:45Speaker 2: One person texted And I have twenty four to seven
- 22:48Speaker 2: channels and I watch Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones
- 22:51Speaker 2: over and over. Really, so you Breaking Bad end Game
- 22:56Speaker 2: of Thrones. That is a big commitment. Yeah. I hate
- 23:00Speaker 2: to tell you. My wive's watched both of them. She
- 23:02Speaker 2: loved I think she loved Breaking Bad, but she loved
- 23:05Speaker 2: Game of Thrones even more. I haven't watched either one
- 23:08Speaker 2: of them.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I could do Breaking Bad, I can't do Game of Thrones.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Wow. It's just it's not my genre. See that's my problem.
- 23:17Speaker 2: It's not mine either, And that's why, Harry Potter, it's
- 23:21Speaker 2: not my genre. I know, it's yours, Harry Potter's.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Really that's the only fantasy type stuff that I've ever liked.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I don't like any of them. I don't know. I
- 23:31Speaker 2: don't know why about Jurassic Park. No, I didn't care
- 23:34Speaker 2: for it. Yeah, although Jimmy Buffett had a small little
- 23:39Speaker 2: role in it when oh yes, when they're at the
- 23:41Speaker 2: zoo they show him running away from a bar and
- 23:44Speaker 2: he's running with a margarita in his hand. It was hilarious. Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 2: But but no, I I'm trying to think. I name
- 23:54Speaker 2: another movie out there you think I'd like? That's that genre.
- 23:58Speaker 3: I just I mean the other one would be Star Wars,
- 24:01Speaker 3: and I know you're Star Wars.
- 24:02Speaker 2: No, it's just eh, I just I've seen him. I've
- 24:06Speaker 2: seen I've seen the first one.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I've never seen a single second of any of them.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't. I saw the first Star Wars that
- 24:14Speaker 2: you know, that came out when I was a kid,
- 24:15Speaker 2: So I did like it, but after that, I was good. God,
- 24:20Speaker 2: I did love that. Conan O'Brien episode when his producer
- 24:24Speaker 2: comes out and he acts like he's this big Star
- 24:26Speaker 2: Wars fan, and Harrison Ford is the guest, and so
- 24:30Speaker 2: he brings out this lego model of the Star Wars
- 24:33Speaker 2: ship and Harrison Ford acts like he's not holding it
- 24:37Speaker 2: and drops it and the thing just goes all apart.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, man, I don't know why you don't
- 24:43Speaker 2: like Conan, but Harrison Ford is sneaky funny by the way, Yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 24:48Speaker 3: You're looking up something. What are you looking up? So
- 24:50Speaker 3: I'm not looking up anything. They reset our whole YouTube stream.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Oh great, so we're not on the sue. No, no,
- 24:56Speaker 3: we are. We are. I've done a good job getting
- 24:58Speaker 3: it all put back together. Oh there's still some things
- 25:01Speaker 3: I gotta play.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Okay, Well, if you want to join us on YouTube,
- 25:03Speaker 2: you mentioned it, so you can join us at search
- 25:06Speaker 2: for Big X Sports Radio Louisville and there we are.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So one person said, Scoots correction. Last year we lost
- 25:15Speaker 2: to Archie's old team, Eberlean Drive. Yeah, which is now
- 25:19Speaker 2: David Steele. Okay, Well that you did say that though,
- 25:23Speaker 2: didn't you. Yeah I thought you did too, so but
- 25:27Speaker 2: thank you. Textter I appreciate you singing that into us.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Uh.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Michelle tweeted out Aaron did not play this year due
- 25:35Speaker 2: to the birth of his first child. That's a pretty
- 25:39Speaker 2: good excuse right there, I will say, But why does
- 25:43Speaker 2: Josh text something in and then doesn't want us to read.
- 25:46Speaker 3: I think he meant to send it to me personally?
- 25:48Speaker 2: Oh is that?
- 25:49Speaker 4: Oh?
- 25:50Speaker 2: Is that what it is? Okay? All right? Then one
- 25:54Speaker 2: person said, Scoots, you're you enjoy other fantasy stories? You
- 25:59Speaker 2: are a fan of? Are you basketball? Right?
- 26:01Speaker 4: Hey?
- 26:04Speaker 2: The fact that he put in there heyo makes me
- 26:06Speaker 2: laugh even more. Uh, suck excusin has always checked the
- 26:10Speaker 2: back seat? I can't I can tell who that is.
- 26:12Speaker 2: That's definitely Jamie. I can't even say anything about that. Yeah.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I love the fact that Jamie, who is a police officer,
- 26:19Speaker 2: will always tell us check the back seat and then
- 26:23Speaker 2: and then, guess what gets in my head? Check the
- 26:26Speaker 2: exactly check the backs seat. And I was like, oh, man,
- 26:30Speaker 2: now I can't get that freaking song out of my head.
- 26:33Speaker 2: But I guess it works. But there you go.
- 26:37Speaker 4: Uh.
- 26:38Speaker 2: One person said, oh my gosh, they wrote a book,
- 26:42Speaker 2: and you know what, since you took the time to
- 26:44Speaker 2: write this you definitely get this red uh. In June,
- 26:49Speaker 2: the Louisville Kings won the UFL championship, the mayor made
- 26:53Speaker 2: it seem like UH parade celebration was in the works.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Here we are nearly two months later. A lot of
- 26:59Speaker 2: key guys signed NFL deals and are gone. I'm sure
- 27:02Speaker 2: most of the team is no longer on the roster
- 27:05Speaker 2: or at least unsure that they will be back next
- 27:07Speaker 2: year as they weigh their options. It's a slap in
- 27:10Speaker 2: the face of the coach, Redmond, hometown guy who made
- 27:13Speaker 2: the necessary changes to turn this team around, and to
- 27:17Speaker 2: the fans who stuck to them all season. I'm sure
- 27:22Speaker 2: there is a lot that I hate it when it
- 27:26Speaker 2: does this. Hold on, let me get back to it.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I'm sure there is a lot that would need to
- 27:32Speaker 2: happen to make some sort of proper celebration possible. But
- 27:35Speaker 2: from zero to three league champions in their first year
- 27:39Speaker 2: are just going to move on like nothing special happened.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Louisville has always believed we deserve more pro sports teams
- 27:47Speaker 2: in town. We have a new one that just achieved
- 27:51Speaker 2: a dream season. This is how the city chooses to react.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Not a very good look. I'm with you, Illinois guy.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I had never even I'd forgotten all about this. I mean,
- 28:04Speaker 2: that was what a month and a half ago, and
- 28:07Speaker 2: that is a shame. He's right, I mean, why did
- 28:11Speaker 2: nothing happen? We want and the other part is everybody, well,
- 28:15Speaker 2: I shouldn't say that. A good portion of the city
- 28:18Speaker 2: wants more professional sports here. No offense to the teams
- 28:22Speaker 2: we have, but they're not They're professional, but they're not
- 28:25Speaker 2: major league. Okay, I know the women. My wife would
- 28:28Speaker 2: be fussing at me, Michael. There is a soccer team. Yes,
- 28:31Speaker 2: there is a soccer team here, and that is major league.
- 28:34Speaker 2: But they're not good. No, when you celebrate the other
- 28:38Speaker 2: morning that they won their first game since May, that's
- 28:41Speaker 2: not real good. I mean I just talked about it
- 28:47Speaker 2: on what was it Tuesday where Portland announced that we
- 28:52Speaker 2: might lose our team, and I'm thinking, why isn't the
- 28:55Speaker 2: mayor Louiswell, the governor of Kentucky or somebody trying to
- 28:59Speaker 2: reach out to the Trailblazer and said, you know what,
- 29:02Speaker 2: we've got the stadium, we've got to support, moved that
- 29:05Speaker 2: team to Louisville, Kentucky. I just for all the people
- 29:08Speaker 2: that don't think that Louisville would support NBA basketball or
- 29:12Speaker 2: any major league sport. You're wrong.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Well, why would they want to come if they know
- 29:16Speaker 3: that if you win a championship, you're not going to
- 29:18Speaker 3: get a parade.
- 29:19Speaker 2: And I can't argue that point. I mean, I just can't.
- 29:23Speaker 3: The fact that you tweet out that you're working on
- 29:26Speaker 3: it and then now here we are enough to lie
- 29:28Speaker 3: and still nothing. It's too late now yeah, oh yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 3: if you did it now, it would look so goofy yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 3: it would it would be it's a bad look as
- 29:36Speaker 3: it is, if you did it now, it'd be an
- 29:38Speaker 3: even worse lucky And how that slid through the cracks
- 29:42Speaker 3: that you just had the Kings win, And it's a
- 29:46Speaker 3: shame because that team was supported. It was, I mean
- 29:50Speaker 3: as much as the maybe the soccer team doesn't like
- 29:53Speaker 3: to admit it, but the people were raving about the Kings,
- 29:56Speaker 3: and it got the city of Louisville on National tele
- 30:00Speaker 3: Division every single week. And what a promotion for the city,
- 30:05Speaker 3: and what a promotion for the city to see that
- 30:07Speaker 3: this sports team is being supported and it's the first
- 30:10Speaker 3: year they've had it. I mean, all these guys are
- 30:12Speaker 3: out there with the ridiculous Kings crowns on their heads,
- 30:15Speaker 3: which was awesome. I would have one of those things
- 30:18Speaker 3: on my head. I don't get it.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I really, I really don't get it, and it's it's
- 30:23Speaker 2: it's rather disappointing to me.
- 30:24Speaker 3: There have been Texas right though. There have been at
- 30:27Speaker 3: least two or three guys signed NFL deals, which is
- 30:29Speaker 3: pretty cool.
- 30:30Speaker 2: See, I love that. That's the entire point of this league.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Now that's the entire point of the Bats too. But
- 30:39Speaker 2: wouldn't it be nice if we had it to where
- 30:41Speaker 2: other cities. You know, they had those teams, but they
- 30:44Speaker 2: were trying to get to Louisville to play. That was
- 30:47Speaker 2: the end all because they that's the NBIA. I mean,
- 30:50Speaker 2: it's not the end all. But all the Chattanooga guys
- 30:52Speaker 2: are trying to get to Louisville. Yeah, No, they're not.
- 30:55Speaker 2: They're trying to get to Cincinnati.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Yeah, but you got to go through Louisville to get
- 30:58Speaker 3: to Cincinnati.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Not necessarily. It seems like I would have to say,
- 31:02Speaker 2: most of the guys that are in Double A skip
- 31:05Speaker 2: Triple A and go on to UH minor to major
- 31:08Speaker 2: League Football. No way, you don't think something no, I
- 31:11Speaker 2: bet they do. I'll look this up. Okay, I I
- 31:14Speaker 2: fact check me. They're justin thanks a lot.
- 31:17Speaker 3: That's not that's not a fact check because you're just
- 31:19Speaker 3: throwing out bogus number.
- 31:21Speaker 2: No, I think they do. I think if they get
- 31:23Speaker 2: into triple A, there's there there's a longer shot to
- 31:27Speaker 2: make Major League Baseball than there is in double A.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I don't know. I could be wrong on that, but anyway,
- 31:33Speaker 2: speaking of according.
- 31:35Speaker 3: To AI, yes and estimated eight to ten percent of
- 31:38Speaker 3: Double A players make the direct.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Jump to MLB. That's lower than I thought. That's higher
- 31:44Speaker 2: than I thought. Really, Okay, and so what is triple A?
- 31:47Speaker 2: What do you mean was triple A? Ask the same
- 31:49Speaker 2: question about Triple A? Triple A players go straight to MLB? Yeah,
- 31:55Speaker 2: I mean almost all of them? Right, No, they don't
- 31:58Speaker 2: some point, I don't think. So there's a number of
- 32:01Speaker 2: them that do not make it, even though they make
- 32:03Speaker 2: it ten or fifteen Okay, so it is a little more,
- 32:05Speaker 2: but it's but uh, it's closer as far as percentages
- 32:09Speaker 2: than I would have thought anyway. All right, then there
- 32:12Speaker 2: you go. So I wasn't so dumb after that statement,
- 32:15Speaker 2: but you never said you were dumb. Yeah, well I did,
- 32:18Speaker 2: I say it constantly. So guess what, We're gonna take
- 32:22Speaker 2: a break on time. Why I like that. So we're
- 32:25Speaker 2: gonna take a break if you want to text in
- 32:27Speaker 2: on the whisky te text line five h two four
- 32:29Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty. Uh I didn't talk about who
- 32:33Speaker 2: tweeted last night. Well, I promise we'll talk about that
- 32:35Speaker 2: and get back to your text as well as soon
- 32:37Speaker 2: as we get back. Stay right there.
- 32:43Speaker 6: Travel got a caravan.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Then you can feel the horses. Another heard.
- 33:10Speaker 6: With the guy.
- 33:11Speaker 8: Damn put us out of the work. She's smooths rocket,
- 33:18Speaker 8: you live a beal. She's a little the slide.
- 33:24Speaker 6: On a mobile, a little Adian.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Code. Come on, man, it sounds like an accordion. It's
- 33:43Speaker 2: us sides mobile. I love this song. This is one
- 33:46Speaker 2: of the songs that I like to turn up in
- 33:48Speaker 2: the car when I hear this one going, that's good. Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 2: it's a it's a good one. Uh So last night
- 33:54Speaker 2: I had to get a little attention and I'm okay
- 33:58Speaker 2: with this. I liked that he did it. John Caliperry
- 34:01Speaker 2: tweeted out congratulations to La Familia who is playing in
- 34:05Speaker 2: the TBT and made it to the championship game. I'm
- 34:08Speaker 2: loving seeing guys in another championship game, in another Final
- 34:12Speaker 2: four and doing it for each other. Loving what I
- 34:15Speaker 2: see for my guys. That's a nice one.
- 34:18Speaker 3: But if their name isn't La Familia, does he comment?
- 34:23Speaker 3: Probably so? I think so?
- 34:25Speaker 2: Yeah, those are his players.
- 34:28Speaker 3: How long did Chris Coffee play for you? Cal? How
- 34:33Speaker 3: long did Sean McNeil pop call?
- 34:35Speaker 2: I did find an interesting the retweets of this our
- 34:39Speaker 2: guys not your guys haha, Kentucky guys. See I saw
- 34:45Speaker 2: that coming and the amount of people that are out
- 34:48Speaker 2: there saying these are Kentucky guys, not your guys. Well,
- 34:51Speaker 2: I can kind of see it both ways, but it
- 34:53Speaker 2: would be nice to say to hear Cal say our
- 34:57Speaker 2: guys or my guys from Kentucky or something like that
- 35:00Speaker 2: that you know, I mean, be honest, No, don't try
- 35:03Speaker 2: to just say it's only me. Well, we have another
- 35:07Speaker 2: coach that said that anyway because of it. Well, now
- 35:13Speaker 2: do you believe that?
- 35:14Speaker 3: Not at all?
- 35:15Speaker 2: Yeah? I don't either. I think it's from what I'm hearing,
- 35:18Speaker 2: it's a completely different reason and it is very personal.
- 35:22Speaker 3: So it's not nefarious, right, No, like not anything. He
- 35:26Speaker 3: did wrong specifically at.
- 35:27Speaker 2: The No, it has to do with love. Okay, So
- 35:34Speaker 2: there you go, and somebody didn't really care for Lexington
- 35:37Speaker 2: and so and I get it. I mean, you live
- 35:40Speaker 2: in one part of the country, you're used to it,
- 35:42Speaker 2: you're accustomed to it. Now you're because I cause no
- 35:45Speaker 2: offense to Lexington. I can't imagine moving from Kentucky to Oregon.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I don't think i'd like that. I don't care how
- 35:53Speaker 2: much money it is. That's just it's like, oh my gosh,
- 35:57Speaker 2: you're kidding me. I'm moving to organ Yeah, that's a
- 36:01Speaker 2: hard pass. I might do it for a couple of years,
- 36:04Speaker 2: but uh, one, just so you look at it the
- 36:06Speaker 2: other way around. Can you imagine leaving a home that
- 36:10Speaker 2: you've lived in for a few years and moving to Lexington, Kentucky.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I think that's how hard. Yeah, it would be. And
- 36:16Speaker 2: I think will Stein and his family can do it
- 36:19Speaker 2: because they're from Louisville. That's easy. That's an easy move.
- 36:23Speaker 2: But anyway, so I think it was nice to him
- 36:26Speaker 2: to do that. John cal Perry and uh, anyway, so
- 36:30Speaker 2: five eight four, five oh two five, I'm man, I
- 36:33Speaker 2: am really sure again? Three to two one yeah, five
- 36:36Speaker 2: O two, three, four, fourteen fifty if you want to
- 36:38Speaker 2: call in? And you said, we have somebody call in,
- 36:40Speaker 2: and who is it? We got John? John? What's going on?
- 36:43Speaker 9: Oh, it's been a while Michael since I've called in.
- 36:45Speaker 9: How you doing today?
- 36:46Speaker 2: It's great to say in my life, John, how about you?
- 36:50Speaker 9: I'd say it's a it could be a good day.
- 36:53Speaker 9: It's starting off all right.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I'm glad to hear that. What's going on today?
- 36:57Speaker 9: Well, I wanted to call in. I was pick you
- 37:00Speaker 9: brain and pick Justin's brain here, or what you guys
- 37:03Speaker 9: would do? What would be your advice? I posted a
- 37:07Speaker 9: video the other day where I went to a city
- 37:10Speaker 9: council and I said something in front of the city
- 37:12Speaker 9: council and then I put together a video. Well it's
- 37:15Speaker 9: been a good reception from it, you know. But there
- 37:18Speaker 9: was one individual that kind of came at me online
- 37:23Speaker 9: and a little bit in a way, and I responded
- 37:27Speaker 9: to them that I would love to, you know, do
- 37:29Speaker 9: an online with them, face to face or even meet
- 37:31Speaker 9: them in person. And they said their self esteem is
- 37:34Speaker 9: a little too low and they want to meet in person.
- 37:37Speaker 9: And they told me where they would be today. One
- 37:41Speaker 9: should I go by myself? Two. Should I record it?
- 37:46Speaker 9: I'm not going to upload it because I'm not going
- 37:47Speaker 9: to be rude to the person. Should I record it too?
- 37:50Speaker 9: You know how today's day and age. What would you
- 37:52Speaker 9: guys do? Would you even go? What would you do?
- 37:55Speaker 9: And I've already said I meet him in person, I'm
- 37:57Speaker 9: going to go. So I guess would you be taking
- 38:00Speaker 9: people with you? Would you be recording? That's what I
- 38:03Speaker 9: want to ask you guys today.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Wow. Is there.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Is there a small part of you John that fears
- 38:10Speaker 3: something could go sideways here?
- 38:13Speaker 9: I think what I don't feel I don't fear that
- 38:16Speaker 9: like in a physical confrontation. Wise, what I do feel
- 38:20Speaker 9: like is I could be, let's say, socially ambushed, where
- 38:26Speaker 9: when I go, no matter what I say or do,
- 38:28Speaker 9: they're going to try to take anything they can away
- 38:30Speaker 9: from the conversation, post it and try to make me
- 38:33Speaker 9: look at something as I'm not. So I think that's
- 38:36Speaker 9: where maybe I don't record to upload, but I record
- 38:40Speaker 9: for my safetiness that if they say I said this
- 38:43Speaker 9: or that, I can go Okay, I wasn't never going
- 38:45Speaker 9: to release this, but here's the video. Yeah you know
- 38:47Speaker 9: what I'm saying?
- 38:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I do, And you know a lot of times
- 38:50Speaker 2: you need to Hey man, we're recording this, that you'll
- 38:52Speaker 2: let you know, because this is something that when somebody
- 38:58Speaker 2: tries to engage with me in a negative way way,
- 39:01Speaker 2: I might make one comment, then that'll be but that'll
- 39:03Speaker 2: be it. I don't want to engage in that at
- 39:05Speaker 2: all other than just you ignore it, and if they
- 39:08Speaker 2: continue to do negative comments to you, you just simply
- 39:12Speaker 2: mute it. I mean, I've muted a few people that
- 39:16Speaker 2: they don't know I'm muted, and I'm sure I know
- 39:19Speaker 2: one person I'm definitely muted by and it's it's fine,
- 39:22Speaker 2: but listen. For the safety of you and the well
- 39:26Speaker 2: being of yourself and your family, I would never meet
- 39:29Speaker 2: with anybody like that. I just wouldn't. And I think
- 39:34Speaker 2: it's a little bit of a risk, and I'm not
- 39:36Speaker 2: willing to take that risk. Now. If you're going to
- 39:38Speaker 2: go somewhere public, a public restaurant, then I'd say okay.
- 39:44Speaker 2: But in the future, John, I would never do this.
- 39:49Speaker 9: Well, the only reason why I'm attempting to possibly do
- 39:53Speaker 9: this is because the rhetoric and dialogue that we see
- 39:56Speaker 9: from our leaders of across all platforms. It don't matter
- 39:59Speaker 9: which one you like, but we see that they don't
- 40:01Speaker 9: take proper leadership and they create division instead of unity
- 40:05Speaker 9: in the world and in our country and our states
- 40:07Speaker 9: and our cities. So I'm one of many people that
- 40:10Speaker 9: are trying to say, Okay, we can still have a
- 40:13Speaker 9: constructive conversation. We may disagree, but I would still help
- 40:17Speaker 9: you move furniture in your house, change a tire, and
- 40:20Speaker 9: show respect and love to you because you're a human.
- 40:22Speaker 9: And that's what I'm trying to attempt with this. I'm
- 40:24Speaker 9: not trying to get a gotcha moment with them or
- 40:26Speaker 9: put them down. It's like, hey, Okay, my name's John.
- 40:29Speaker 9: Nice to meet you in face to face. This is
- 40:31Speaker 9: my context of why I went and did that. Okay,
- 40:34Speaker 9: I see you don't completely agree. It's respectful, I understand,
- 40:37Speaker 9: but I just wanted to come to you as a person,
- 40:39Speaker 9: and so that's why I'm trying to do it. Michael.
- 40:41Speaker 9: It's not necessarily like I said a gotcha or trying
- 40:44Speaker 9: to get hear you. I really want to help you.
- 40:46Speaker 2: But here's the problem. You and I are kind of
- 40:50Speaker 2: similar from the standpoint. We're pleasers, and Justin is very
- 40:53Speaker 2: much the same way too. We're pleasers. We want to
- 40:55Speaker 2: try and make everybody happy, but it can't be done
- 41:00Speaker 2: until you come to the realization of that. It just
- 41:03Speaker 2: I just make sure that you're doing this not at
- 41:06Speaker 2: a private home. You're doing this in public, at a
- 41:10Speaker 2: restaurant or somewhere that because next time I would do
- 41:14Speaker 2: this in a public forum and had listen, I'm gonna
- 41:17Speaker 2: have a meeting with all these people at this such
- 41:19Speaker 2: and such place. I want all these naysayers to show up,
- 41:23Speaker 2: and we'll do this in a public manner. And that's
- 41:26Speaker 2: how you handle it. Because you start doing this thing
- 41:28Speaker 2: one on one in a private setting, then bad things
- 41:31Speaker 2: can happen, and you don't want that to happen. And
- 41:34Speaker 2: I just don't know people's personalities or mindset today.
- 41:37Speaker 3: I do think you have the right mindset.
- 41:39Speaker 2: John.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Just just go in positive, tell them, Hey, we're both humans.
- 41:43Speaker 3: We can have this discussion. I want to try to
- 41:45Speaker 3: have a better understanding of your side, but at the
- 41:48Speaker 3: same time, I also want to give you a better
- 41:50Speaker 3: example of where I'm coming from with this. It's just
- 41:52Speaker 3: it's human nature to have conversations, and we can do
- 41:55Speaker 3: so without having any sort of beef with one another.
- 41:59Speaker 2: And see that's why i'd I don't talk politics because
- 42:01Speaker 2: you're right. John. My rule on this show, we don't
- 42:04Speaker 2: talk politics because we're so divisive today. You can't sit
- 42:09Speaker 2: there and have a normal conversation with somebody that believes
- 42:12Speaker 2: the total opposite side of you without it getting to
- 42:16Speaker 2: a point where I'm going to say something mean about you.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I'm gonna be just say something negative about you, And
- 42:23Speaker 2: you're right, and I appreciate what you're doing because you
- 42:26Speaker 2: saw what happened yesterday in Washington, DC, and it's like, Okay,
- 42:30Speaker 2: I don't know who to believe. So therefore guess what
- 42:33Speaker 2: I don't watch. I just I'm to a point now.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I hate to say it, but when it comes to government,
- 42:38Speaker 2: I'm just not invested because of how much hatred there
- 42:42Speaker 2: is on both sides. So I don't want that. I
- 42:45Speaker 2: just don't need that negativity in my life.
- 42:49Speaker 9: I completely agree, And thank you guys for taking time
- 42:52Speaker 9: just answer it question and I respect both of your
- 42:55Speaker 9: guys' opinion. Thank you so much.
- 42:56Speaker 5: Well.
- 42:57Speaker 2: I appreciate you asking that, but John, please be careful. Okay, yeah,
- 43:02Speaker 2: that's the one thing. But anyway, good question, right, There
- 43:05Speaker 2: not a question I could I expected today on that
- 43:09Speaker 2: on the show.
- 43:09Speaker 3: I was thinking, during that call, can we just stop
- 43:12Speaker 3: the whole sports thing and can we just start an
- 43:14Speaker 3: advice line for Is that what we should do?
- 43:17Speaker 2: That would be great. I'll take all the advice I
- 43:20Speaker 2: get from my therapist and just give it to everybody
- 43:22Speaker 2: else and they get free therapy. Okay, Michael Bennett's given, No,
- 43:25Speaker 2: we can't do that. But fun though, yes, yes, and no.
- 43:31Speaker 2: I think it'd be great to have a call and
- 43:33Speaker 2: people ask questions. Well, here, the the funny part is
- 43:36Speaker 2: part of me is always one to have a political show.
- 43:39Speaker 2: Oh god, oh yes, and just talk it out, get
- 43:44Speaker 2: every negative person to call me and just like why
- 43:47Speaker 2: does your side do this? It's like, okay, well let
- 43:50Speaker 2: me explain, and then let's talk about why does your
- 43:52Speaker 2: side do this? Just make it fun, but not make
- 43:55Speaker 2: it fun lighthearted. I will nothing serious. I will not
- 43:58Speaker 2: be your producer. I don't and but pardon me, yeah,
- 44:02Speaker 2: I like the idea. Tell me what's going on with
- 44:04Speaker 2: you today? Please call in. I'll be happy to listen
- 44:07Speaker 2: to you, because you know that's what That's the one
- 44:09Speaker 2: thing that social media has done. It's allowed for people
- 44:13Speaker 2: to be heard. Now, whether or not people listen to it.
- 44:16Speaker 2: It's a different story. But that's what I like about radio.
- 44:19Speaker 2: People are welcome to call in and talk. I'll listen.
- 44:24Speaker 2: I'll let you get because that's the one thing that
- 44:26Speaker 2: I think you get other UK shows where the host
- 44:31Speaker 2: interrupts you, and I never liked that. Let them finish
- 44:35Speaker 2: their statement before you say anything. And that's the one
- 44:39Speaker 2: thing I think i've That's reason I really believe I've
- 44:42Speaker 2: been very successful at sales is because I listen and
- 44:46Speaker 2: then I comment or then I make my statement and
- 44:49Speaker 2: it's just like stop. Wow.
- 44:51Speaker 3: So you know how to have a conversation.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Well, I feel like I do every now and then
- 44:56Speaker 2: I'll interrupt you. But it's only because I don't want
- 44:58Speaker 2: to forget when I'm say I'm gonna say so. A
- 45:00Speaker 2: lot of times I'll do don't interrupt, and then I'll
- 45:04Speaker 2: write it down to make sure I don't forget. I've
- 45:06Speaker 2: had to teach myself that because I am Back in
- 45:09Speaker 2: the day, I was really bad. You interrupted me yesterday,
- 45:12Speaker 2: I sure did, but I do my best not to
- 45:15Speaker 2: and I get frustrated when I interrupt you.
- 45:17Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to start hitting you with your line.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Let me finish. Let me finish.
- 45:21Speaker 2: And you know you've done that a couple times and
- 45:22Speaker 2: I'm like, you're exactly right, I let you finish. It's like,
- 45:26Speaker 2: that was rude. I need to let you finish. But anyway,
- 45:30Speaker 2: what do you think about the New York Giants. Did
- 45:32Speaker 2: you see where they're having theirs fall camp?
- 45:35Speaker 5: No?
- 45:36Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. So due to the World Cup being
- 45:40Speaker 2: at their stadium in New York City or well, New Jersey,
- 45:44Speaker 2: they are playing at the world renowned Greenbrier Resort in
- 45:51Speaker 2: West Virginia. That's fun. You've heard of Greenbrier, haven't you
- 45:55Speaker 2: the course? Exactly. It's an amazing resort in West Virginia.
- 46:00Speaker 2: And people are going like West Virginia. No, no, no, no,
- 46:03Speaker 2: you listen to me. If you ever have the opportunity
- 46:06Speaker 2: to go to Greenbrier, by all means, take it, because
- 46:10Speaker 2: that is an amazing resort. Right off I sixty four
- 46:14Speaker 2: you can see part of the golf it's really a
- 46:16Speaker 2: golf resort and everybody goes down. You have to wear
- 46:19Speaker 2: coat and tyblee. Well used to to go to dinner, oh,
- 46:24Speaker 2: just to dinner and everybody goes down. You used to
- 46:27Speaker 2: have to go at the same time everybody eat together.
- 46:29Speaker 2: This is really kind of the Old South kind of feel.
- 46:32Speaker 2: It was kind of fun. It's kind of fun. It
- 46:35Speaker 2: was awesome because the golf course is incredible. So here
- 46:38Speaker 2: you got the New York Giants going there. I think
- 46:41Speaker 2: that would be the ultimate place to have a fall camp.
- 46:45Speaker 2: Don't you wonder what the Jets think about that? I
- 46:47Speaker 2: don't know where the Jets are. They have to be
- 46:49Speaker 2: up in their stadium, right yeah, well wait, don't they
- 46:53Speaker 2: They play at the same stadium, so they got to
- 46:55Speaker 2: be somewhere else.
- 46:56Speaker 3: I'm curious how it works on an annual basis with
- 46:59Speaker 3: both of those teams.
- 47:00Speaker 2: I don't know. I've often wondered that Chargers and Rams
- 47:05Speaker 2: they share under they probably have it a completely different area.
- 47:10Speaker 2: I don't know. You know, the Bears used to have
- 47:11Speaker 2: it in a completely different area. And that's the Indiana Bears.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Oh yeah, here we go again. All right, we gotta
- 47:17Speaker 2: take a break. Hour two coming up. Stay right there.
- 47:19Speaker 2: It's more Just the Cats.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Bennett fable two three four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 47:47Speaker 2: call five with two four one four fourteen fifty. You
- 47:49Speaker 2: want to text in you tweet meat just the cat radio.
- 47:52Speaker 2: So yeah, the we didn't talk about it but for
- 47:55Speaker 2: a second, and I think it needs a little more
- 47:57Speaker 2: attention than that. But UK Football names Field Nocta as
- 48:01Speaker 2: interim and then less than twenty four hours name makes
- 48:05Speaker 2: it official. Almost makes you feel justin that they knew
- 48:10Speaker 2: this long before any of this was happening and the
- 48:14Speaker 2: plan was to bring PHILM Nocta in as the GM.
- 48:17Speaker 3: I don't necessarily agree with that because wasn't he the
- 48:19Speaker 3: assistant GM. He was, so I mean, it feels like
- 48:23Speaker 3: a natural transition, right, like he's already he's.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Never had this job before. I mean, but granted he
- 48:27Speaker 2: worked at u of l under Vince Marrow and other people,
- 48:31Speaker 2: but he comes into UK's he assistant to him, then
- 48:35Speaker 2: all of a sudden he's interim. Now he's the full time.
- 48:37Speaker 2: I mean that, if I'm completely honest about this, I'm
- 48:41Speaker 2: a little nervous about that.
- 48:44Speaker 3: I mean, and rightfully so if he's never done it.
- 48:46Speaker 3: But what my point is is, if he's been an
- 48:49Speaker 3: assistant GM in the past, like he was, he's been
- 48:52Speaker 3: able to see for the most part what the GM
- 48:55Speaker 3: is doing and what they have to do as part
- 48:57Speaker 3: of that job. So I would think he's fairly knowledgeable.
- 49:01Speaker 3: I mean, he's more knowledgeable than going out and getting
- 49:03Speaker 3: somebody else. Right. Well, maybe not, but then you'd have
- 49:06Speaker 3: to have the time aspect, and you're losing all that
- 49:09Speaker 3: time with recruiting and whatever else a GM has to
- 49:11Speaker 3: do in today's day and age. So I don't I
- 49:13Speaker 3: don't hate the decision to just elevate him.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but the perfect time to find a new GM
- 49:18Speaker 2: is right now because there's not a munch going on
- 49:20Speaker 2: because seasons getting ready to start and it's like, okay,
- 49:22Speaker 2: we're good to go, so uh but yeah.
- 49:25Speaker 3: But I mean you still got recruiting and stuff to do.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's not as much going on right now
- 49:29Speaker 2: as there are other part times a year when you
- 49:31Speaker 2: got all the uh normal recruits out of high school
- 49:34Speaker 2: and then you got the uh uh transfer portal open,
- 49:37Speaker 2: so which is not right now. But anyway, I don't know.
- 49:41Speaker 3: I just I don't hate it.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Okay, good, I'm glad you don't. I'm I don't hate it.
- 49:47Speaker 2: I don't I don't like it. How's that I don't.
- 49:51Speaker 2: I'm just kind of in the middle right now. Fair enough,
- 49:54Speaker 2: Let's just see how it goes so uh n Cuba, man,
- 50:01Speaker 2: can we they're they're they're enforcing some crazy stuff today.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Such ass. They announced yesterday that they will suspend University
- 50:10Speaker 2: of Tennessee linebacker Arian Carter for the first two games
- 50:15Speaker 2: of the season for accepting a four hundred and twenty
- 50:18Speaker 2: seven dollars flight from an agent after he declared for
- 50:22Speaker 2: the draft. I all right, and then of course he
- 50:27Speaker 2: sent the money back. Josh Ippel said that the player
- 50:30Speaker 2: disengaged from the agent repaid him for the flight. And
- 50:36Speaker 2: I looked at this and I thinking, Okay, they're a
- 50:39Speaker 2: bigger as my dad. You say, there's bigger fish to fry. Yeah,
- 50:43Speaker 2: this is silly as far as I'm concerned. And granted,
- 50:49Speaker 2: I love that it's happening to the University of Tennessee, but
- 50:52Speaker 2: first two games of the year. I haven't looked at
- 50:55Speaker 2: what games they are. I'm just gonna say, right now,
- 50:57Speaker 2: who cares? I'm to the point now, should University of
- 51:02Speaker 2: Tennessee ignore the NCAA for this?
- 51:07Speaker 3: No? I mean it's only two games and the opponents
- 51:10Speaker 3: are not great opponents. You play Furman at home to
- 51:13Speaker 3: get the season started, yeah, and then you have a
- 51:16Speaker 3: road game at Georgia Tech, so that may be a
- 51:18Speaker 3: little bit tougher. But from what I read, Tennessee has
- 51:22Speaker 3: a plethora of linebackers. So this is this isn't anything
- 51:26Speaker 3: that's going to hurt them in those two games.
- 51:28Speaker 2: But it hurts the player. I mean, sure, he didn't
- 51:31Speaker 2: get to play those two games. And because here's my problem.
- 51:35Speaker 2: This player could have a sponsorship today by an airline,
- 51:42Speaker 2: get paid a lot more money, and it wouldn't be
- 51:46Speaker 2: a problem. But since this agent paid for a flight
- 51:50Speaker 2: four hundred and twenty seven dollars, he gets to miss
- 51:54Speaker 2: two games. That's my point.
- 51:56Speaker 3: I mean, it's impermissible benefits. It's the definition of impermissible. Now,
- 52:01Speaker 3: granted that was after he declared for the draft, and
- 52:03Speaker 3: then he gets injured in the draft stuff and decides
- 52:06Speaker 3: he's gonna come back to college.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know that.
- 52:08Speaker 3: Maybe he should be punied because if if you should
- 52:10Speaker 3: not be punished, if you paid it back, you probably
- 52:12Speaker 3: shouldn't be punished. But that rules as rules.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Okay, All right, then, well I I just saw this
- 52:19Speaker 2: and I thought this is still.
- 52:21Speaker 3: I'd feel a lot worse for him if it was
- 52:23Speaker 3: like if the games he had to miss were Texas
- 52:27Speaker 3: and bake at home or something. Yeah, big, But it's
- 52:30Speaker 3: Furman and Georgia Tech. It's gonna be okay. I know, well,
- 52:33Speaker 3: it's definitely gonna be okay. But this is the the
- 52:36Speaker 3: point I'm trying to make. This is the inconsistency of
- 52:39Speaker 3: the n C double A to day. Oh yeah, nobody
- 52:41Speaker 3: thinks they're consistent.
- 52:42Speaker 2: No, they're not consistent. And to pick on somebody like
- 52:47Speaker 2: this again, I do love it. It's Tennessee, and I
- 52:49Speaker 2: don't feel sorry for Josh Eifel. I do like that.
- 52:52Speaker 2: I do feel bad for the player, but I just like,
- 52:55Speaker 2: come on, man, let's let's let's go out there and
- 52:58Speaker 2: get some actual things that are happening.
- 53:00Speaker 3: You know, he spent his whole career at Tennessee.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Who is he? Carter?
- 53:05Speaker 5: Oh?
- 53:05Speaker 2: Did he really? That's wild? That does not happen anymore. No,
- 53:08Speaker 2: it doesn't. And good for him. I mean, as much
- 53:12Speaker 2: as I dislike that place, it's a beautiful school and
- 53:16Speaker 2: football saturdays down there, it's a lot of fun. You
- 53:19Speaker 2: got the smoky mountains around there. To me, that would
- 53:21Speaker 2: be a hard place to leave.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Honestly, I think Rocky Top is one of the best
- 53:25Speaker 3: I think it's one of the best college football traditions.
- 53:28Speaker 3: Oh you've got now you just killed me, and they're
- 53:31Speaker 3: all in that stadium singing it. At the top of
- 53:34Speaker 3: it is to put your Tennessee hate aside for a minute.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Because it's electric. No, now, you really that is a
- 53:42Speaker 2: song I probably dislike more than any other fight song
- 53:46Speaker 2: out there. And I'll list the fight songs that I
- 53:51Speaker 2: dislike the most. It will be Tennessee number one, Notre
- 53:55Speaker 2: Dame number two, U of L number three. You just
- 54:01Speaker 2: hate those schools, Why would you? But I don't like
- 54:04Speaker 2: those songs either.
- 54:07Speaker 3: If you're gonna say Notre Dame, then you gotta say
- 54:10Speaker 3: Michigan because they're damn near the.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Same, are they really? I didn't realize their fight songs
- 54:15Speaker 2: were similar. They're very very Come on, Michigan is dan
- 54:19Speaker 2: d D D D D D D And what's what's
- 54:23Speaker 2: Notre Dames? Something real close to that? It is not closed.
- 54:26Speaker 2: All right, let me pull it up, all right, pull
- 54:27Speaker 2: it up. It's different. I'm telling you right now. If not,
- 54:31Speaker 2: then Michigan needs to sue Notre Dame, or Notre Dame
- 54:33Speaker 2: needs to sue Michigan for going against their fight song.
- 54:36Speaker 3: In fact, my high school fight song was Michigan's.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Oh was it? Really?
- 54:40Speaker 3: That's why I like the.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Eastern High School in Pekin, Indiana. East Washington. Is that
- 54:46Speaker 2: what they call it, East Washington.
- 54:47Speaker 3: That's the school corporation right here? Here's Notre Dames. Completely different,
- 54:55Speaker 3: but listen to the main part here. It sounds very
- 55:01Speaker 3: similar to mission. It's not all right, stop play Michigan. Now, Oh,
- 55:10Speaker 3: I didn't have it pulled up. Well, that's what she said,
- 55:13Speaker 3: but try and do it, really say it to me.
- 55:15Speaker 3: I didn't give her a chance. Well exactly, And then
- 55:17Speaker 3: we need to find you a girlfriend. Any young ladies
- 55:19Speaker 3: out there while we're waiting that one about what.
- 55:29Speaker 2: That's not Michigan. What it says is not Michigan's missing, No,
- 55:36Speaker 2: it's Dan and I know that one, gentleman. We need
- 55:43Speaker 2: to have an introduction there, just to play the song
- 55:47Speaker 2: l Nicks. You're just gonna play random band song. I'm
- 55:55Speaker 2: still not convinced that.
- 55:57Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't think we're at the fort.
- 56:01Speaker 6: What in the world.
- 56:04Speaker 2: I feel like I'm watching a nineteen forties movie.
- 56:08Speaker 3: All right, My points standing justin I'm convinced that was it.
- 56:16Speaker 3: After that display you can't tell me I'm wrong.
- 56:19Speaker 4: That was terrible. I did.
- 56:21Speaker 2: I felt like I'm watching a nineteen twenties, nineteen thirties
- 56:25Speaker 2: movie with this is ridiculous. But anyway, one Texter texted
- 56:29Speaker 2: in Kentucky Trailblazers actually could work. Just have a pioneer
- 56:34Speaker 2: mascot Louis. That's a great idea. Yeah, Or Daniel Boone.
- 56:40Speaker 2: I think Daniel Boon would be even better. Or Lewis
- 56:43Speaker 2: and Clark.
- 56:43Speaker 4: That.
- 56:44Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that that is so cool. I love
- 56:47Speaker 2: that my aunt Betty Jean Bennett was related because her
- 56:53Speaker 2: maiden name was Betty Jean Boone. She was related to
- 56:56Speaker 2: Daniel Boone. That's pretty cool that it was cool. I
- 56:58Speaker 2: mean that that put a cool factor on my aunt
- 57:01Speaker 2: Betty Jean. And then again, you know all of Spinnetts
- 57:06Speaker 2: have two names, Betty Lou Betty Jean.
- 57:10Speaker 5: Uh.
- 57:12Speaker 3: This is like a once every two months you Eddie.
- 57:14Speaker 2: I'm sorry, but uh uh. One person said my point
- 57:19Speaker 2: was Scoots. You said, if we played Davis Steele, we
- 57:23Speaker 2: will win. Why because that's where Archie played last year.
- 57:27Speaker 2: He's going to be motivated to beat those guys. We
- 57:29Speaker 2: lost to them last year, and we had Archie who
- 57:31Speaker 2: missed two free throws. This team can't win the big one.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I think they've won three big ones. I don't text her.
- 57:39Speaker 2: I don't agree with you on that. I think the
- 57:42Speaker 2: big if you look at the U of L the Bill,
- 57:46Speaker 2: I think we kind of surprised the Villa on that
- 57:49Speaker 2: first game Memorial. They blew us out at Freedom Hall,
- 57:53Speaker 2: and we saw the team that they potentially can be.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Then we come back and beat them. I think that
- 57:58Speaker 2: third game was a big game. I think the game
- 58:02Speaker 2: against UH Syracuse alumni Beeham's Army was a big game.
- 58:08Speaker 2: And I think yesterday not so much, only because they
- 58:15Speaker 2: had a depleted roster and they got tired. But that
- 58:19Speaker 2: still was a big game. So I don't see how
- 58:22Speaker 2: Texter here no offense man, and I appreciate you texting him,
- 58:26Speaker 2: but I don't see how you can't say this team
- 58:28Speaker 2: can't win the big one. I honestly believe they won
- 58:31Speaker 2: three big ones. Am I wrong on that? Justine?
- 58:34Speaker 3: I think they're gonna win the biggest one? Do you
- 58:36Speaker 3: really okay?
- 58:38Speaker 2: Uh one? Texter said Aaron Harrison had a baby. Pretty
- 58:42Speaker 2: sure of that. By the way, how does a coach
- 58:47Speaker 2: oh oh, yes, says courch coach who never sees anything
- 58:52Speaker 2: aware of TBT. I don't get what they're saying. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 59:00Speaker 2: so yeah yeah.
- 59:02Speaker 3: By the way, what do you think of the Have
- 59:04Speaker 3: you heard the term John Hooden?
- 59:07Speaker 2: No? No, I have not. I like this, So people.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Are calling John Hood john Hooden?
- 59:12Speaker 2: Can we just talk about Hood for a minute. John Hood,
- 59:16Speaker 2: I think has done a phenomenal job. He's drawn up
- 59:19Speaker 2: some of these inbound plays that have just done really well.
- 59:23Speaker 2: And I what is I've never looked up to see
- 59:27Speaker 2: his real job. He should be out there coaching as
- 59:29Speaker 2: a full time job. And I always wondered, Okay, is
- 59:34Speaker 2: this gonna be a good fit? Is anybody really going
- 59:36Speaker 2: to listen to John Hood? And they From what I
- 59:40Speaker 2: have learned, he's very intense and he is not I
- 59:46Speaker 2: heard Aaron Harrison that was I'm sorry, one of the
- 59:51Speaker 2: Harrison twins whichever one is on the team right now, Andrew,
- 59:55Speaker 2: thank you say that he kind of becomes a jerk
- 59:58Speaker 2: as the coach, and they like that Hood does. Hood
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: does becomes a real jerk, And I'm like, that's that's
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: what you need. What are your thoughts? This is from
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Patrick about Loaf Amilia advancing to the TBT final for
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: two million MP I can't be any more excited. I mean,
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: I think it's fantastic. It's it's funning that I'm not
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: getting any of the money, but who cares. I mean,
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: I think it's been a fun uh transition from a
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: fun summer. Yes, World Cup was happening, then you had
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: this going on, and now we get to have this.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: In the one texter earlier that said, listen, we had
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: not just the Lo Familia, but you had the Kings.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: It's been a fun summer of sports in the area
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: we're normally we're not. We're talking about ridiculous stuff every
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: day outside of sports. Anyway, did you find with John Hoods?
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: And I did so.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: He works in business development with BSN Sports, providing athletic
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: gearing uniforms to high schools and colleges across.
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: There.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: You go. He should be coaching. He should be a
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: coach something.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: He was most recently an assistant at Missouri Western State,
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: and he spent some time at Kentucky Wesleyan too. But yeah,
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: I agree, I think it should be on the sideline.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: One person said, thought I was listening to Doctor Phil
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: show Ralph Stanley did Rocky Top, Michigan has the best
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: fight song, but Notre Dame will have the best season. Yes,
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: And it pains for me because we talked about that.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Was that yesterday, we talked about Notre Dame. Sometime this
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: week Notre Dame schedule. I'm predicting Notre Dame's going to
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: go undefeated and it's going to be the most overrated
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: team in the history of college football. And if what
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: do you think, honestly, before the season even starts, if
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Notre Dame had a nine game SEC football schedule, what
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: do you think, realistically, without even knowing the nine teams
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: they would play out of the SEC, how do you
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: think they'd come out of the SEC six and three?
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: So you think they'd win six games and only three losses.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Who would their three losses be to do you think?
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: I don't know? You told me I don't know the schedule, Okay,
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: you SI.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: You're right, I know I did. I just thought you
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: might right off hand know who the three losses would.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: They'd probably lose the Georgia Texas. Maybe they're getting a
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: lot of hype this offseason. I don't know.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: Texas. A and M is kind of one of those
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: teams SEC that I don't I can't really put my
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: finger on right whether they're gonna be good or not LSU.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: I think would be really tough for Notre Dames. Yes,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: I'm missing somebody, Florida maybe, No, I think they'd beat Florida.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they'd come out five and four. I
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: think they come out on the winning side. But I
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: still think they have four losses now because of that,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I think it'll be a little questionable whether they make
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: the playoffs because of being five and four.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Well, I mean, if you're in the SEC, you're getting
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: a little leeway there, Absolutely you are.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: But the season they're gonna have this year, it just
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: upsets me. And why more people don't complain about this
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: is just beyond me.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: Don't worry about it, Michael. They'll play us with with
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Notre Dame and we'll just smack them around and you'll
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: be You'll be pumped.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: One texter said, your aunt would be would have been
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: even cooler if she was related to Boone's farm. Alright, alright, alright, hey,
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Oh who's I don't know Boon's farm.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: Oh, Michael, are you serious?
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Yeah? Help me, I don't you weren't a boons farm. Guy,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I don't know what booms Farm is.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Boone's Farm is wine that you can buy at the
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: gas station. Oh and it's like, yes, sorry, four dollars
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: a bottle sounds disgusting. It is the sweetest wine that
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: ever even worse in your entire life. But when you're
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: like nineteen twenty years old, Boone's Farm freaking Oh really?
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: No.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: When I was nineteen twenty years old, I was mind beer.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: I wanted beer the entire time. That's all I wanted.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: So I didn't want wine. I mixed it up. Although
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: I think I took whatever I could get. Back in
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: the day, when I was in college, wine coolers were
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: kind of the thing to drink.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: It's kind of a wine cooler, Oh it is, Oh okay,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: I'd kind of consider Boon's Farm a wine cooler.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Okay, sorts all right? Going back to Kansas, did you
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: see where the Kansas alumni player and the staffer that
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: got her nose broken are pressing charges against the aftershocks
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: player Marcus Key? Really? Yeah, I told you that might happen,
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: and I because I thought it might escalate, And man,
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: this is escalating. Do you think they should be. No.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: I mean, I'll go back to what I said yesterday.
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: When you've got to know your what you're getting into
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: when you're on the floor.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think there's more to this story. I mean,
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: I didn't know the aftershock or Wichita State disliked as
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: much as they did. And I think it made it
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: even worse because Keene was out there tweeting did you
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: see I put that blank Kansas player on his on
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: his ass on the floor. It's like, oh, my gosh,
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: why would you ever say that you just lost and
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: you just got in a fight. Last thing I'm going
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: to do is escalated by tweeting something out. Granted he
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: didn't turn to take it down quickly, but my gosh,
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: I was just really surprised by that. Now it's it's
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: really disappointing to see that this kid can't play again
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: in it. And uh, and you got that going on.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: So anyway, all right, we got to take another break.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: Send me more of your text follow two four one
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty when we come back. I do want
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: to talk about a couple of things. Number One, Vander
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: almost said it volleyball. I was saying, volleyball, don't give
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: me problems about Vanderbilt. Okay, volleyball news came out yesterday
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: and man is it fantastic? And uh, it's tradition gone.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Does any recruits care about tradition? We'll talk about that
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: to stay right there. This is just a cat.
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: Stuck in my tracks like a street.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: For all that it's worse, I'm just barma. Sis On.
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: Gartam was a simple man who had snagous pharmaslat to
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: see his ass.
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: Every night he danced along and fling out the mom
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: toll that was his mast.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: All right. So yesterday they announced the uh top twenty
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: five or no, I'm sorry, let me let me rephrase this.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: They the volleyball coaches within the Southeastern Conference announced who
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: they think their picks are for this upcoming season. Who's
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: gonna win the SEC? And congratulations to UK Volleyball and
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Craig Skinner. They're picked to win the SEC, not Texas.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: So I think this is great this upcoming season. I'm
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: looking forward to it. Along with five players on Craig
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: Skinner's team at UK named All SEC Lizzie Cower, Brooklyn
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Delay Morgan, Gertey, Cassie O'Brien and Molly Tuozo so I'm
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: sure I butchered three of the five of those names,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: but I did the best I could. So your name
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: got Listen. I did well with the first name. So
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: but congratulations. I mean, volleyball can't start soon enough, because
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: as the CC has become more and more between SEC,
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: then you got big ten. Nebraska has been one of
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: those big, big time Wisconsin Wisconsin is the other one exactly,
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: but the SEC is really up and coming in the
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: addition of Texas, Texas, A and M has been really good.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: It's been fun, and I'm telling you, if you haven't
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: been to an SEC volleyball game, you don't know what
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: you're missing. Especially UK Craig Skinner's fun and he gets
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: his teams to have fun and they're exciting to watch.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: And I look forward to the season starting next month.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: I'm right there with you. Volleyball is one of those
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: sports that cannot get here quick enough. I freaking love it,
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: especially with you know what's made it a lot of
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: fun the last few years is the fact that there's
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: been so many high level matchups across the board. Whether
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: it's Kentucky schedule or Nebraska's or Louisville's. Everybody just challenges
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: the hell out of themselves in the non conference, and
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: it just makes it a lot of fun because every
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: night you've got volleyball on TV, which I never thought would.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Be the case. Yes, I forgot to mention you of L.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: You're exactly correct, because it seems like this whole area
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: in the city of Kentucky has has become volleyball U
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: between U of L Kentucky, you got all the different
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Is it assumption that's really good here in town? Oh?
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Assumptions insane? Yeah? Yeah, uh. And I know Craig Skinner
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: is always trying to recruit players from that high school
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: amongst other places. But man, congratulations, I mean Craig Skinner,
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: and I'm looking forward to the season starting and it'll
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: it'll be a lot of fun. So anyway, I do
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: want to ask you this because I find it that
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: you One of the things that Mark Pope said when
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: he took the job at UK is that he's going
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: to recruit players that know what it means to wear
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: the front of the jersey instead of the back of
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: the jersey. I think that's all well and fine, and
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: I appreciate what he said, but I want to ask
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: you this justin because it seems like it's not happening anymore.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Do you feel like recruits care about tradition anymore?
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Not particularly, No, I mean I do still think there's
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: some aspect of recruitments and recruits that they do care
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: about tradition, But it's a very small portion as opposed
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: to how much am I gonna get get paid, how
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: much playing time am I gonna get? How good are
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: we gonna be? What are the odds that we can
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: make a deep run in the playoffs. I mean, there's
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: there's just so many more factors that I think are
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: over top of tradition.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Seeing I'm right there with you, and I want to
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: ask our guests now, who is joining us a surprise
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: guest by the way, wo Orbit Woo. How are you
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: doing today?
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: Doing excellent?
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: How about you guys, I'm doing fantastics. Great to have
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: you come on. I appreciate Justin saying, hey, Woo's on
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: the phone. We need to get him on. And I listen,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: anytime I get wu orb Zoot to come on this show,
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: I'm a happy guy.
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: Likewise, they always put a spine on my face. Whatever
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: I'm with you and Justin on the air that you guys,
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: do a great job and please continue the war.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: I appreciate that. It's a question I want to ask
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: you Wu because when you were coming to Kentucky, you
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: didn't know anything about UK basketball at the time or
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: the tradition, did you.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: I knew a little bit. My teammate Corky was from Rochester,
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: New York, so he explained to me very simply that
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: this is the mecca of college sports.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: Do you think recruits today care about tradition anymore?
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: Hey, listen times times in last twenty years since I
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: have played tremendously, I basically put it that way. When
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: I was playing for Coach Smith from two thousand and
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: three to two thousand and seven, I was a gladier,
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: right they get paid. I bled a sweat bones And
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: basically today you went from being an ncuble a gladiator.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: And I'm not trying to take anything away from those guys.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: They still work extremely hard to don't get me wrong,
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: but in my opinion, they the sport went from being
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: a gladiator to being mercenary.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Absolutely, and I agree with you. Now, now let's talk
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: about this lot familiar. You were there last night. How
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: many was that your first game last night or were
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: you going to a couple of more.
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: I came to support a couple more last year and
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: I was privileged to an honor to to to witness
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: the final four game. And the guys play excellent. I mean,
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: heads off to Willie Colestein and Archie Goodwin and either
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: the Georgetown graduated from Alma matter Coach Briggs team. Mister
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: Coffee just has brought so much energy and on both ends,
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: it was just it was just amazing to watch those guys,
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: you know, heads off. You know they have to. Some
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: of those guys are probably already in their thirties, so
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: so in basketball years, that's old already.
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: Unfortunately, Yeah, it probably took him four to six months
- 1:13:24Speaker 6: to prepare for this tournament.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: It's not easy, No, not at all. Because the first
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: thing I saw thought of when I saw you on
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: TV last night, I'm thinking, how much does WU want
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: to be out there on their court? Did you have
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: any egling? It's like I wish I could be out
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: there playing.
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: Oh man, my brain wanted to, but my body says no, no.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: No, I've got to ask. Since since you were front
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: row right on the court last night, it was we
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: got to see you a lot on TV. How many
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: complaints did you have about getting put in the front row?
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: I mean, you're, what seven foot three and they're throwing
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: you in the front row.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: I'm seven foot I'm seven foot one, and I don't don't.
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: I don't care what people say about That's not of
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: my business what they say of me. I think so.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: In other words, you don't care. You're there to watch basketball,
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: and the heck with the people behind you that can't
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: see the.
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: Game that they get it. They all blue, big blue nations.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: They they're no different to support it. I would just
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: I was just extremely blessed and privileged to to to
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: have a very good seats, and I want to. I
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: want to they enjoyed the game, they experienced it. You know,
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: it doesn't get any better than that.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Well, I'm available Sunday. I'd be happy to be your
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: plus one if you need me to go with you.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: Sure, accept all the nations.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: Exactly, all donations. My gosh. Uh, Now, let's let's talk
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: about this team. Because one person texted a little bit
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: ago like uh saying, this team can't win the big one,
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: and I'm like, they've won three big ones the last
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: three games. What what do you say about this team.
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: They extremely athletic and fast, you know, as all we can.
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: We saw early in a game they make up with
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: their speed and athleticism on the rebound and and you know,
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: the game of basketball becomes shorter lately and faster, and
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: that's what this team has. And and you know, so
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: many uh so many guys that can they can just
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: go off in a matter of five minutes of a game,
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: clerk and put twenty points on the board. You know,
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: Archie Goodwin, you know, and DeAndre Legas, I think I
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: think he had a little little night off. Yes, yes,
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: and make that up in defense. But but you know,
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: don't don't sleep on him. Whatever. He he's going to
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: have a good day. He's gonna put some serious numbers
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: on the on the board. And I think, you know,
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: seventy plus points to to to win that they are
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: true tender and they have they're so talented. I mean,
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: you can't take away anything from Archie Goodwin. Whatever they
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: needed one this tournament since he joined, he delivered.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: Oh absolutely. And like I mentioned earlier, he's he's become
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: the leader of this team. I mean, I really feel
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: like the way Archie goes, the way the team goes
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: without a doubt. Talk about the environment last night? How
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: how much fun was that?
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: Oh man, you can't beat it. You know, it's the
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: end of July. It's nothing to do, nothing to watch
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: on TV for sports, So why not come out and
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: watch some not not only decent basketball, but but great basketball.
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: You know, in the past, there were such a things
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: for for fans, uh, such as bar storming tours. I'm
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: not sure if you remember those. Yeah, when when a
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: family and the communities come out. So I think this
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: is a great substitute, sort of safe and they and
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: the refs let him go. That's what I love about
- 1:17:02Speaker 5: it the most. That was not the whistle blown for nothing,
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: but you know, the guys were not used to that.
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: It was. I think it was more like a European
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: style or basketball. So so you beat her, you beat her,
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: get off the porch or and run with the big
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: dogs and stay on it.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: You know, well, I see, that's exactly what I thought
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: last night. It's like, Okay, how tightly is this game
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: going to be called? And it seemed like it was
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: pretty loose, like you said.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: Yes, yes, I mean I was right there. Whenever Willie
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: Kolestein basically got Burt Hug you know from and they
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: called it a jump ball. I was like, okay, I.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Don't know where those officials are from, do you.
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: I don't think it mattered in my opinions, but I
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: want an excellent job. They entertained with the and mingle
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: a little bit with the crowd. They they talked, they
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: had fun, and you know the guy, they had a
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: good grasse of a game too. Whenever guys become a
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: little pushing and shoving, you know, they start calling some
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: petti files to just come everything down, come the crown down.
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: So overall, you know, you don't want to what we
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: have today on TV on the SEC we have about
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: I don't know, the game is two and a half
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: hours long and you probably have forty five minutes of
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: referee times.
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you're exactly right. I mean, it's just it's crazy
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: how much time the officials are taking out to go
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: review a play. And it's getting a frustrating because I remember,
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: what was it Sunday, The Tampa Bay Rays played a
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: team and they played and I believe it was like
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: two hours in a couple of minutes, and they were
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: they played a baseball game nine innings faster than they
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: played basketball game the game of basketball just getting slower
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: and slow or because of officiating? Am I wrong about that?
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: Now? You're one hundred percent positive? And I mean how
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: many times we go enjoy, spend a lot of money
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: on hotels with our families, dinner and et cetera, and
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: go to a bowl game and you see under review, Well,
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: what is that like a matrix glitch.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: Or something that's exactly right?
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: Next play, coach?
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Exactly? Well, the one thing I wanted to ask you,
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: the NC double A is and discussions about allowing summer
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: exhibition games between schools. You think that's going to be
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: a good thing, or and if so, because I tend
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: to think it's going to be awesome, what do you
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: think about that?
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: If one thing NC double A proved over the years,
- 1:19:45Speaker 5: which stands for not consistent at all, is exactly that.
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: So you know, one day they say, hey, if you're
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: born in the United States citizen and you play professionally,
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: you can't play in college. But if you play if
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: you're a European player and you played professionally in Europe,
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: you can play in college. Come on, guys, like what
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: you doing?
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Exactly? I mean because you know the news came out
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: earlier this week that Mark Pope is looking at making
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: a European hire to bring over those players to play
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: for UK.
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: Do you like I would just go ahead and keep
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: all the banners and dissolve the double A.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: It's done, you think so?
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: Yes, it's once the agents of the players, uh, and
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: the families are involved in n double A. It's all
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: they want to do is collect their check from March Madness.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: You know, yeah, exactly.
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: By however many lawyers they have in.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: Exactly. Well, if you're just joining us, w orb zoot
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: time with us for a few minutes. Can you we
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: got to take a break. Can you wait through the break? Yes, okay, perfect,
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: Stay right there. More w orb Zoot coming right after
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: these messages. Stay right there.
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: When you know the lines, just the game, No Man,
- 1:21:08Speaker 8: No Man's.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: Game five O two three four fourteen fifty. Uh, we
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: have our final segment on this Thursday. You can uh
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: text me at five O two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: Let me get to a couple of weeks before we
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: have to go to the Michelle texted out that Kentucky
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: Volleyball is playing at Wrigley Field, September sixth I think
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: that's the coolest thing ever. I'm just gonna tell you, right,
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: I know, Woo, your daughter plays volleyball. Have you taken
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: her to any of the UK volleyball games?
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: Oh yeah, this is a fervid time of the year.
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: She doesn't miss a beat. She's six one at thirteen.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: She loves being around the tall females. Empowering, so exciting.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Did you say six one and she's thirteen?
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: That's correct.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: She's already told her that you just said half of
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: a footballer than me and she's thirteen. Think of who
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: her dad is. If you're just know any Woo Orbsuit
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: is with us right now exactly. I mean, you gotta
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: be really proud. Is she a good volleyball player?
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: Wou?
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: She's getting better, She's game. She'd grow leave so much
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: in such a short spend of time. You know, once
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: the motorics now slowly the motorics and the coordination starts
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: kicking in and it's game over.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Was that was that tough for you too when
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: you were growing up? I mean, did you have a
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: growth spurt at a certain time period?
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: I was was was tall and I you know, but
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: but the motorics. You know, nobody in my family play
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: any sports, so I kind of have to generically figure
- 1:23:33Speaker 5: out through a lot of five AM workouts and and
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: pass it on to my daughter.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: You know, Oh, so she's playing five am workouts.
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: Yes, yes, she she goes after it. She's pretty dedicated,
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: which which which On my side, I don't push her.
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: It's all the cultures that she's working with. I'm kind
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: of just staying to the side and try to be
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: supportive and be there for there in a stance. But
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: outside of that, my approach is, you know, if you
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: want to do this, you're going to have to grind
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: it out yourself.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: Going back to the one thing I mentioned earlier, the
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: n C double discussion about allowing summer exhibition games. Do
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: you think that will be a good thing for college
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: athletics and basketball to have summer games against other schools.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: I love the idea, as long as they allow the
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: fans to come and watch those games too.
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: I would I would even explore a little father because
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: I was thinking about that on my way home. I
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: would allow combined teams, teammates on the same team from
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: different states like Indiana, Ohio, uh and I and I
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: bring bring them for tournaments, so you're not only playing. Hey,
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: it's not Kentucky against Indiana or you know, against Louisville
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: or whatnot. I would bring athletes from from the from
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: k you, I will bring them from Loville, and I
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: will put those guys on the same team, so so
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: fons can understand how much those guys care about this game.
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: And it's not just like robbery one team versus not
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: a team. He just also cammaraderie when those guys can
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: come into the same gym, learn place, play defense, and
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: let's do East Coast versus West Coast.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: And if not, I'm curious though, justin if something like
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: this happened and they allowed like Kentucky to play other
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: teams of Kansas team or Wichita State, would that be
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: the end of TBT at that point? No?
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: No, maybe, No, I don't think so. I think TBT.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: I mean, if it doesn't go away in the next
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: handful of years, I think it's probably here to stay.
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: But my mindset and thinking is more along the lines
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: of something we've discussed in the past.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Michael.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: If you're gonna do this in the summer time, doesn't
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: that kind of feel like the perfect time to do
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: a like a Kentucky State tournament after I love that
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: Morehead State, get Murray State, throw them all in a
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: bracket together. If you're gonna play other outside teams, that
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: could be a lot of fun off it that.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Don't don't you think something like that would be really successful?
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: Uh? Wu?
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: I mean if you had UK playing you UK playing
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: or just make it the state playing Western Kentucky Murray
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: State or something along those lines.
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm right there. I'm right there with you, and
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: especially justin you would be awesome to see those see
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: those guys early on. And I you know they you know,
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: teams are quite protective of their of their assets too,
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: but but you know they can make make it more
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: like an exhibition but open to the public. So so hey,
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: let's let's start off. Bring a team from let's say Indiana,
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: and they're gonna need it anyway, so give them twenty
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: points up front.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: And the Kentucky been nice having you today. Very shots
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: are fine and I'm loving it. But the other part
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: I would love. If they're going to do it for basketball,
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: why not do it for football too. I mean, wouldn't
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: it be fun to see Kentucky football play some other
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: college teams out there and let the fans come have
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: a little exhibition games between football teams.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: You'd have to make it flag, I think, because it's
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: just football is just inherently too dangerous of a game.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: Yeah, football has just a little bit too many parts.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Maybe like a flag football would be fun, you know,
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: like I will come out and watch that. Raj Rondo
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: can be the quarterback. He's pretty good.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: Yes, have y'all watched that flag football tournament.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: I watched it a little bit. I think it's all
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: about the speed there, and you know, to have eighty
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: plus teammates on the team, you know, you don't want
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: to risk a injury early on because because you know,
- 1:28:02Speaker 5: those those guys go hard. I mean, you know whatever.
- 1:28:07Speaker 5: I'm seven to one, three hundred pounds and I start
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: seeing some of those offensive but the defensive lineman guys,
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: I was like, what is going on? You know, six
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: eight three sixty those guys are huge.
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah they are. Yeah.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: We were talking fast.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: We were talking about that a couple of days ago
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: when will Stein released who his starting lineup is going
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: to be for the offensive line, And you're right, I mean,
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: it is amazing to me how big those guys are,
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: but not just the size, but how much speed they
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: have on top of the lallvu.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, it blows my mind. And they offensive and
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: defensive line are probably some of the most intelligent players
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: on the field. So they're big, they're strong, they fast,
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: and they smart. You know, like so, so you got
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: a great combination and I feil for this football team.
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: The season schedule is is basically like grinding meat.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: You know, Well, what do you think about the SEC
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: schedule was released a couple of days ago. What were
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: your first first thoughts on it? Because it seems like
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: it's it's pretty light at the beginning, but then it
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: gets gradually more and more difficult as the SEC schedule
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: goes lace up.
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: You know a lot of teams like like Justin's teams,
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: the Indiana Boys, they prove that, hey, you you can
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: put a championship winning team in four or five years,
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: you know, and and go out there you know for
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: two years wu yeah, two, yeah, yeah, you know, I
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: always got to whatever it goes against Kentucky add three.
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: You know, if it's in Kentucky's favorite that takeoff too.
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: I just I feel like it's gonna be uh year
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: three of Mark Pope. It's gonna be tough. And and
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: I look at it, and how do you feel about
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: because Jack Givens said last week that listen, year three
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: of Mark Pope is going to be a completely different team.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: He's excited about this. How do you feel about it?
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: Well, I'm gonna have mixed emotions. You got to see
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: these teams sometimes in August because it's going to be
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: pretty pretty easy to tell it what because I know
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: what they're going to stock up against in the SEC.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: You know, everywhere they go. You know what those guys
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: have to understand. They still got a target on their chest.
- 1:30:38Speaker 5: You know, nobody's going to cut them any slock whatsoever.
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: And I think what a lot of players should the
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: fair from is having discussions with referees altogether. Just go
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: out there and play. They're going to do what they
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: have to do. You know, they have their little you know,
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: sponsor deals themselves. I assume you know, they paid extremely
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: well and they just got to quit soaking up the
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: TV time. And because they taken away from a game
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: we lost, we would lose quite a bit of momentum.
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: Whatever we go to review or I don't know, what
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: to call it other than hydration break? Like what you
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: call it? What is going on here?
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: You're exactly right? One person texted in great hearing from
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: the best WU out there, much better than Rick Flair.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: I'm not sure what he means by Rick. Who's whoa?
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: Oh okay, I see okay, I got it now? All right?
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: Thank you? One person forty eight handle, he says, speaking
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: of wine, how about baby Vino? Yeah, you're exactly correct.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: I reported his gutsy win and the Haskell to you,
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: but that ended up on the editors floor. Sorry about that.
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: The Jim Dandy next step for Golden Tempo. Jim Dandy
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: famously upset triple Crown champion Gallant Fox in the nineteen
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: thirty Traverse Stakes at odds of one hundred to one.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: Hope your baby got okay from the gates, So I
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: appreciate that. Forty eight handley, all right? Uh so, what's
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: going on lately in the life of WU. Have y'all
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: had a big summer? Maybe big trips? You got a
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: thing planned?
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: No, yeah, we we took a little time off when
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: went to the beach. You know, there's nothing better than
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: enjoy the ocean. Breeze and just just not for seven
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: other you know, twelve hours and on top of it,
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: going to sleep. So Michael, I hope you are already
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: we have a new a D in town. Get your
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: check book, you know, and a As long.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: As you got your check book ready and filled out,
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: I'll fill it as well.
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: No, I already donated my four years to the organ.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: Oh see, there we go. It's all about the play,
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: not about the financial Okay, Well there you go. Wu.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: Times have changed, Wu, you gotta change exactly exactly.
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: I'm polish, I'm tired. I was a letter on the
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: shoe man.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Well yeah, I'll tell you right now. You take WU
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: out the lunch. Justin, he's got long legs, but he's
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: got short arms when the check comes. I believe that.
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: Whenever he comes to checkbooks. I forward all my calls
- 1:33:19Speaker 5: to mister Bannett.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: All right, listen, I love you coming on for a
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: couple of minutes. I hope we get to a point
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: where you have time to do it more often with
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: us again, because anytime you come on the show with us,
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: it puts a smile on my face.
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: Yes, Justin, Michael, thank you for having me. Awesome show.
- 1:33:38Speaker 5: You guys continued the good war.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: All right, that's always fun to and justin I'll tell
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: you right now, thank you for setting that up. You
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: know you wanted WU on last night. You got all
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: excited because you saw WU on TV during the TBT
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: game last night, and he was like, I need to
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: have him on and you did it.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I did it.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: You're become I'm in friends with everybody, go me. I agree.
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: I mean I just needed you for doing this kind
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: of suff I need to become friends with shorter people. Okay,
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: Like who who's a short person you'd like to be?
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: I don't know, but there's a lot of tall guys
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: out there, and I'm not one of them.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: No, you're not. And unfortunately, I'm afraid that's never going
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: to change for you either. But listen, I can't help you.
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: Isn't there some sort of surgery you can recommend for me?
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: The Lincoln aleg There is no surgery that's gonna give
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: you six inches? Okay, well there is, but that's a
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: different kind of surgery, not in the what I better
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: stop right see, that's when you get me in trouble.
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: I can't say that kind of stud Thursday. I know it,
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: so tomorrow we'll get you ready for the big championship
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: game on Sunday. I'm looking forward. I even think you're
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: legitimately looking forward to it as well. It's been, like
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: Wu said, it's not been I think he went a
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: little over the top saying it's been great basketball.
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: But it's been good. But it's it's been fun to watch. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: you're right, he's making it. You don't want to be
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: totally mean and call these guys out, but because you
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: could tell last night they were tired. But no, it's
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: been Let's just say it this way. It's been fun.
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: How's that because I think it's been extremely entertaining and
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: I've enjoyed everybody. All Right, everybody, have a great day.
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: Appreciate your listening to Justin Katz. We'll see you tomorrow.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: I don't want to be
