- 0:00Salam alaikum. Warahmatullahi wabarakatu thank
- 0:03you for tuning in once again to another episode on.
- 0:05The aftermarket of podcast, we are in the month of Muharram and
- 0:09I really hope he found the previous podcast very beneficial
- 0:12and Charlotte. Today's topic, we're going to
- 0:14talk about the rise of English modulus throughout the Western
- 0:17World and before we delve into this topic Salam alaykum
- 0:20assalamu alaikum, sane How are you?
- 0:29I'm the law. Good.
- 0:31It's it's been so far. Of course, a very eventful
- 0:36heart-wrenching month thus far. And, you know, we're grateful to
- 0:41our communities to our families for giving us the opportunity to
- 0:44mourn. And of course, developed a lot
- 0:45of her saying, for granting us, the blessing of being able to
- 0:50commemorate him his message once again.
- 0:54Developer, of course, today we are having a very interesting
- 0:57discussion, but before we get into that, but this is just want
- 0:59to thank you again for your feedback from last week.
- 1:02We hope you enjoyed it and to subscribe to the YouTube
- 1:05channel, the often book after marking to YouTube channel
- 1:08because we said last week and we'll say it again.
- 1:10We want to get to 1000 subscribers by the end of the
- 1:13year and Charles are so with your support, we can do that and
- 1:17Insha'Allah we can keep the community growing scent a scent
- 1:22and it's so important that you do hit that.
- 1:23Subscribe button because it will get the community in Charles
- 1:26engaging. And that's the purpose behind
- 1:28this podcast because this is a platform for you and you can
- 1:31even leave us feedback of what you would like us to discuss and
- 1:34talk about. Absolutely so say, today will
- 1:36obviously you mentioned. We're talking about the English
- 1:38language to kind of maybe introduce the topic.
- 1:41The English language is especially if we're talking
- 1:44about the Western shitty world is a language, which brings many
- 1:48communities together. Yes.
- 1:49And also engages with the wider society when we comes to talking
- 1:53about the law Legend of Islam and especially of the story of
- 1:56Abdullah Al Hussein but we want to identify how the English
- 2:00language has been used is it used to March?
- 2:03Is it use not enough? Other ways we can use it more or
- 2:06maybe a we not staying true to our mother tongue.
- 2:09So this is, I think what we want to get into I think the fact
- 2:14that we live in the western world and you know, us
- 2:18personally being here in the United Kingdom, English plays a
- 2:21big role when it comes to my jaundice and I'm a big advocate
- 2:25of English modulus and whoever asked me, you know, how is the
- 2:30mattress always tell them you need a bit more English and
- 2:32that's important because I recite in English.
- 2:37So I see the impact and the difference, it has with someone
- 2:40who doesn't understand the language that centers using.
- 2:43Now, I mainly go to rock centers so they always like have not the
- 2:47majority of them, but mainly the youthful one.
- 2:50So they'll have the lecturer in English, the first about 40
- 2:53minutes or so, then have the massage table in Arabic, and
- 2:56Arabic and everything else is done in the mother tongue
- 2:59language. And then whoever's there, that
- 3:01doesn't understand the language. Just feels left out and they
- 3:03want to be pot going to be pot. It's interesting.
- 3:05Mentioned because you said, whenever someone says how is the
- 3:08modulus I said it's okay but need a more English.
- 3:11I had to do a double take out like what the reason why is
- 3:14because I only go to English modulus, pretty much.
- 3:18Yes. And I always have, I'll be
- 3:19really Frank. I've sat in a lot of Odom
- 3:21modulus, which is my mother tongue and but as an adult and
- 3:26now I'm denies, head of family, I will go to an English.
- 3:30Matchless, my wife goes to her Domina Arabic, muchness, So
- 3:35there's a bit of a you know, but we can get into that.
- 3:37Of course there's all sorts of discussions to have with this
- 3:39topic. The reason why I say we need a
- 3:41bit more English is because we are attending English advertise,
- 3:45my jawless, Rhino sort of the center's advertising.
- 3:47We are holding English majlis. Well, Visit ending is expecting
- 3:51English throughout. Now, I'm not saying you recite
- 3:54Quran, and at the end they are in.
- 3:55English is very clear this done in the Arabic language.
- 3:58Where's your lecture? Then your hands are know how
- 4:02eulogy whatever it is? You're holding has to be in
- 4:04English. So I think I stand in a slightly
- 4:07awkward position in this to give you some context.
- 4:10I am a fifth-generation migrant, you could call it to the UK
- 4:17where most senior migrants are saying in migrant Abdullah where
- 4:20my great grandmother moved to the UK and of course in my my my
- 4:24son now his great-great grandmother moved to the UK so
- 4:27for him it's even more kind of I'd say he's more Affiliated to
- 4:32the culture we have here but I'm someone who has in.
- 4:35My family, various cultures. My father was born in Iraq.
- 4:38My mother was born in India, my dad speaks a number of
- 4:41languages. So does my mom, that's was my
- 4:42grandmother and I'm married to someone of a different culture.
- 4:45My my child will speak a different language is what I
- 4:48mean. So, there are many people, I
- 4:50think like a me in this day and age, who are so culturally mixed
- 4:55with quite like a Halal mocktail and some ways where you'll need
- 5:01some sort of a hybrid. Like you said, where you can
- 5:03appeal to people Regardless of culture but the question which
- 5:07comes in all our communities, primarily cultural, or primarily
- 5:12religious. Because if it's primarily
- 5:14cultural, then we can say. Well look, we have come here as
- 5:18a community from our homeland. And we are here hosting the
- 5:21story of about the law for our people, nothing wrong with that.
- 5:25But some may argue that you're here is a religious community
- 5:28center or Community organization.
- 5:30First and foremost, hence, your primary responsibility should be
- 5:33to reach every single A person out on the street or out in the
- 5:37public, who was to engage with your Muslim?
- 5:38Yeah, I mean, every Community, I guess decides on their own way
- 5:43to move forward based on, I think Their audience and who
- 5:46attends their Center. Mainly there's, you know,
- 5:49sometimes that can have a really bad effect because I have seen
- 5:54it happen in my own Community away.
- 5:56They never really focused on English, okay?
- 5:59And then there was this split where the majority of the youth
- 6:04wanted at least, Lecturer in English.
- 6:06They didn't mind the lot of being in Arabic.
- 6:08Yeah, as they wanted a lecturer in English and they were not
- 6:10doing that. So so of took them out and they
- 6:13did their own thing, but then you have other senses to do
- 6:15both. So the hold the mother dying
- 6:17mother tongue English. We ought to do.
- 6:20Farsi Afghan whatever is but then also hold on the side
- 6:24English at the same time simultaneously.
- 6:26Hmm so the whole Community skated for so people who are
- 6:30majority for example let's say are from Pakistan.
- 6:33For example as we could do you have the road?
- 6:35Sure. Yeah.
- 6:35And then at the same time, we'll have the same venue just
- 6:38probably in a different hole and English lecture happening at
- 6:41this. You like that idea.
- 6:42I love that because that means you can go with your mom, you
- 6:44can go with your dad, you can go Uncle, you can go with your son
- 6:47were whole family can go to the same Community Center but they
- 6:50can, you know, go to what the system best.
- 6:53But then when you have someone who prepares, for example, the
- 6:56mother tongue becomes difficult. Now, mmm, so for example, you
- 6:59can have your wife or your mom, or your sister wants to go to a
- 7:01different Center because they prefer Arabic for example.
- 7:04And then you can have The brother or the nephew of the sun
- 7:07once English. Mmm.
- 7:09And then it becomes becomes very dry.
- 7:10Thinking point you mentioned is nice about having to locate.
- 7:13I mean, the center, I've grown up in and Center are still visit
- 7:17shall stumble. We have the main hall, we call
- 7:22it which is primarily in order and then we have the English
- 7:27listening or English Language Center the LC which of course,
- 7:30the English. And that was that really took
- 7:32off when I was young, maybe the late 90s early 2000s And it
- 7:36became a hub for Our Generation. Started off with weekly
- 7:39attendees 20, 30 people. Now we're talking thousands
- 7:42every year in that particular Hall in the same Center and when
- 7:46we recite in our Center, even an English Language Center, we will
- 7:52many of the time. Resign, or do I resign, or do I
- 7:55don't speak. It would go fluently, as well as
- 7:57I should, and would like to buy or seitan or do.
- 8:00And we have a policy that everything on the screen has
- 8:04translational. As they should prefer, you know,
- 8:06kind of provided by the recited. Before they go up.
- 8:09You have to give a translation of what you're citing because
- 8:12you never know. We now live in a day and age
- 8:14where not every Shear is Pakistani or rocky of Granny or
- 8:18raining, or whatever it might be.
- 8:19We have a lot of new members of our community from from from the
- 8:22UK reverts, who have joined the community.
- 8:25People have come from far and wide people who bring their
- 8:27University College peers. And so on their work, friends
- 8:31and workmates to come and join a modulus.
- 8:33I see it so often, so it's important.
- 8:35Portal. I think for us to cater to that,
- 8:37you know. Also I remember when I was
- 8:40growing up. Yeah, it was always everything
- 8:44was Arabic, okay? Everything every single thing
- 8:46was Arabic but that time everyone spoke wrote and read
- 8:51Arabic it was you we were able to but times have changed and
- 8:57people don't really understand the mother tongue.
- 8:59Language properly. Hmm.
- 9:02Yeah any let's say you know shortly My daughters will
- 9:06understand Arabic correctly and hopefully they won't have any
- 9:11issues growing up speaking writing, whatever is in the
- 9:14Arabic language best a lot of people do and when they do, the
- 9:19only thing that's going to make them understand what the
- 9:21lecturer was talking about or what the Isaiah is about, is if
- 9:25it's in the English language. Now, don't get me wrong, you can
- 9:27have both, you know, whether you want to quote a quranic Ayah,
- 9:31whether you want to quote a narration, a Hadith were raised
- 9:34whether you want to do the massage.
- 9:35Sia, but mix a little with English and Arabic Farsi and
- 9:37Arabic or do an Arabic. Whoever is same thing with the
- 9:40eulogy, you can have a few verses in the motherfucking
- 9:43language. Then you can have a few verses
- 9:45in English and it works indicators to the entire
- 9:47Community. But when you have the separation
- 9:49where we focus, only on Arabic, or we focus, all your order, for
- 9:52example, you are leaving out the future Generations, I II do
- 9:56agree that and when I say that, I would not have this opinion if
- 10:00I don't hear people talking about this.
- 10:01Yeah, because I recite mainly in English, Yeah.
- 10:06And I'm seeing that vectors. Why do your site may need
- 10:08English? Because there is a gap.
- 10:12There is a gap. So are you reciting to tailor
- 10:14the market or your something called out?
- 10:17Mark, you should. I mean, I understand it's mainly
- 10:24younger people. So we're not talking about
- 10:26people, I think in like, in the late 20s or 30s or 40s were
- 10:29talking about. Let's say, 15 16 all the way
- 10:31till about 25 26. But to be honest, I prefer
- 10:34English because they understand the whole thing.
- 10:35Yeah, they understand what for what?
- 10:38But there's also like honestly speaking, I think there is a
- 10:41demand also from Little older. Yeah, I do believe that because
- 10:44there's a lot of special for talking about the Pakistani
- 10:46community and age South Asian Community.
- 10:48A lot of our communities moved here.
- 10:51As I said, if the 50s and 60s in will talk about the UK
- 10:54specifically, but also even the US and North America.
- 10:58But a lot of the 50 year olds in these cultures and these
- 11:02communities speak English as their first language husbands
- 11:05and wives grandmothers and aunts grandparents together, they will
- 11:09speak English as their first tongue, so reciting in English.
- 11:12Which is a beautiful thing. However, saying this, we know of
- 11:17course, ayat Allah say this is Stanley me a lot, lengthen, his
- 11:20life, advised specifically, the youth to stay close to the
- 11:24mother tongue because it was give ties with our culture, our
- 11:27identity, which we should be so proud of.
- 11:30So again, my question back to you is if you recited in
- 11:35English, 4th X, many years, do you ever think about switching,
- 11:39or do you ever think about doing?
- 11:40I think you've done Arabic and English.
- 11:42Same. I see that before for me.
- 11:45It's depends on what the community is asking.
- 11:47Okay, so normally I will tell you we want Arabic or they'll
- 11:51tell you we want just English or we want both I love it when it's
- 11:54both. What about the argument?
- 11:55Sorry to keep Arsenal? I'm really interested people say
- 12:00that and we know this is a fact that Arabic language or do or
- 12:05Farsi or whatever it may be. There are so many words to
- 12:09describe one thing whereas an English restricted.
- 12:11Let's say the word love As an example, in Arabic, you have
- 12:15Ishq, you have mohabbat you whole have all of these words,
- 12:19you know, there's all sorts of Iraqis in rankings of Love which
- 12:24you don't have with the English language, where you're
- 12:25restricted to a four-letter word, I don't agree.
- 12:27But then we can say the same thing to people holding lectures
- 12:30or eulogies and Russian or in Chinese on any other language.
- 12:33It's no different with it being English.
- 12:35Interesting, interesting. Okay, by the way, I agree with
- 12:38the point of said, Alice is an email elevens life where it's
- 12:41important to her. Your mother tongue but I don't
- 12:43think he's referring specifically to just, for
- 12:46example, the jaundice day-to-day life, the day-to-day life.
- 12:49Absolutely. And with modulus, of course, we
- 12:51have to remember that the English language within the
- 12:54Western world is what will progress.
- 12:57Our communities further is, and it opens up a new audience.
- 13:02Yeah, when I send you audience, people who don't know, Arabic,
- 13:06or people who don't know or do of our CEO of a language.
- 13:08The majorities are in English is the universal language so that
- 13:12Means every, you know, Tom Dick and Harry can understand what's
- 13:15going on. Can understand the message of
- 13:16Imam Husain cut on the side of what happened at karbala and
- 13:19even can you know benefit from the lectures not just learning
- 13:23watch creation. Karbala you measure the lectures
- 13:26don't just focus on the events of Ashura such a good point but
- 13:29you learn so much more if you do an English for people who are
- 13:33not poor. And the thing is a faith, it's
- 13:35interesting. Because a lot of us in our day
- 13:38to day lives we learn and we teach in English, We communicate
- 13:43we we transfer information between one another in English.
- 13:47So if we're learning and we're comprehending a topic or a
- 13:50subject in the English language or our brains are wired to do
- 13:53that, we will approach Islam and the story of, in this case of
- 13:57about that Hussein in the English language and similar
- 13:59way. So, for example, when I listen
- 14:02to a lecture, I listened to an English lecture.
- 14:05I do when I'm driving and you know, may Allah bless all our
- 14:08Scholars, resign all languages, there are some lectures I've
- 14:11listened to from On the day I was born.
- 14:14Literally speaking growing up in a community and then, of course,
- 14:17lecturers that have for several years, being a big part of our
- 14:20lives on YouTube or on TV channels that have a big TV
- 14:23which was of course as we know was the first channel which came
- 14:26out in the English language. But what that has done is it has
- 14:30founded medium where you can connect your identity in the
- 14:33west, your identity from religion.
- 14:36Do you see what I mean? And it's brought that
- 14:38information and these two things together and allowed us to
- 14:41reignite. Understanding of religion in a
- 14:44new light and then maybe find a way to present that information
- 14:47to non-muslims who don't understand Arabic all donors but
- 14:50unstable do like you know speaking from my own perspective
- 14:55of this whole debate of English or Vis mother tank.
- 15:01I used to be, you know, quite regularly at modulus, it was
- 15:07like pretty much part of my life.
- 15:10So like you'll be there every Tuesday, every Thursday and
- 15:12Friday, every shot. Whoever is, and it was always an
- 15:16Arabic, but I really never understood everything because
- 15:19the lecturer would normally speaking.
- 15:21Yes Arabic. This is like, force Arabic.
- 15:25So was what's a bit and this is coming from your more Home.
- 15:28Father Was there's also a lecturer he was a lecturer.
- 15:31Yeah. That's very interesting.
- 15:32Yeah. So always be like fossa Arabic
- 15:35hmm. I would understand most but
- 15:38whoever else I was with didn't understand a single thing so
- 15:41you'll find them outside in the car park and again shouted that
- 15:44to go back inside to hear the lecture but they don't
- 15:48understand nothing from beginning to end and you know I
- 15:52think because parents didn't Focus heavily on teaching the
- 15:56little ones, the mother tongue language had this effect and now
- 16:01it's led to the rights of Englishmen jealous because now
- 16:04people don't understand the mother tongue language.
- 16:05So they prefer these English majorities and I remember the
- 16:09first time I heard English and English - I don't know how old I
- 16:14was, I was definitely very young really and it was something like
- 16:17I knew everyone was like the sailors in town and I think the
- 16:22area was somewhere in willesden. Yeah, it was definitely a hole
- 16:26somewhere wasn't. Yeah.
- 16:27And you know we attended was saying many with RC giving the
- 16:34lectures and I was like what Like you can you can actually
- 16:40like talk about carbide on religion and Islam in English.
- 16:43It was like weird. It was weird.
- 16:46And I remember when quite a few times and every time I would go
- 16:49to his lecture, I learn like an English word because he uses
- 16:52these, like, vocabulary that I've never had in my life
- 16:55sometimes. I'm like, what does that word
- 16:57mean? Best, it really connected with
- 16:59me. Yanni hearing the story of
- 17:03karbala in English, you know, having a full understanding of
- 17:07what the lecturer saying I think was important and I don't know,
- 17:12I don't know honey, if I do not prefer my mother tongue
- 17:16language, I love it. Any special.
- 17:19Now, we have this English major Allah says Arabic modulus.
- 17:22I go to both, so I go to the Arabic and let me just say, so
- 17:26to the English. So I get the book, The Best of
- 17:28Both Worlds. Let me just be honest, you are
- 17:30Very lucky to speak Arabic and to speak it fluently at that.
- 17:35And to be really honest, I don't think you understand what our
- 17:39blessing you have, being able to speak Arabic and being able to
- 17:43understand it communicating it and on top of that, speak in
- 17:48English as well. Yeah.
- 17:49Because you have the ability to see things from different
- 17:53perspectives you can gather Knowledge from.
- 17:56So many different angles that a lot of people are restricted to.
- 18:00One angle. They only speak one language.
- 18:02Whether it's their mother tongue.
- 18:04Will they speak English? Only you saw what I mean?
- 18:06Yeah, so that blessing that you have bilingual blessing.
- 18:09A lot of people are traveling or nowadays as well and if not
- 18:11more, I don't know what the next one is quad lingle or something,
- 18:15but a lot of people have have have this blessing and it's
- 18:20something which really, I think is what our faith is about.
- 18:24It's about multiculturalism, we talk often about the time with
- 18:28Mom and her jaw has law, firms receive more.
- 18:31Imam, Ali hodja is not for one Community is not for one
- 18:35language. He's not for one city, and my
- 18:38Mojo's Universal, he will give we hope but, but in different
- 18:42language, he will interact with people from different cultures
- 18:45different backgrounds. In Marblehead.
- 18:47Y'all understand make an effort to understand different
- 18:49cultures. And therefore, I think our
- 18:51responsibility is to understand different cultures when you go
- 18:54to a center, which is not your your motherhood, your mother
- 18:57sent if that makes your mother Cultural Center, Mother tongue
- 19:00Center, take it in, like soak it all in.
- 19:04If I go to, for example a lecture and it's an Arabic,
- 19:08which I have been, I've been in that situation many times
- 19:10before, even if I understand 5%, I'll make a Neo.
- 19:15You know, I'll try my best and specifically even the culture
- 19:19around me like the way people put their shoes in the bags that
- 19:23I've never seen it. And my Center is a whole new
- 19:25thing. The way.
- 19:26For example, the keema is served after the much, that's it,
- 19:30that's it. Sure thing which I've never
- 19:31experienced, but you take it in these.
- 19:33This is the beauty of Muharram and the season that were in is
- 19:36like we said, it's infectious. The love of Bob De Lys
- 19:39infectious and that love can be spread in so many ways.
- 19:43The way you do love me art and the whole Jannah mean, I'm not
- 19:47used to that. I'm used to lumpy hot.
- 19:48Might of like she saw them in that this is full of facts that
- 19:51the beauty, the beauty with that.
- 19:53We have in cross cultural relations in the UK,
- 19:57specifically, or in the western world is I I think is something
- 20:01we shouldn't lose. We should have our mother's
- 20:05mother cultural centers or mother tongue centers there.
- 20:07And they should continue to do modulus in Arabic or an order,
- 20:10whatever it might be but facilitate for those who don't
- 20:12understand and maybe other simultaneous much less.
- 20:14Yeah, at least that's the way I see it.
- 20:16As a for me it's not about an argument or a fire which
- 20:20language of the Majesty in. Yeah.
- 20:22You can have your measureless you can have your Arabic Farsi
- 20:24or 11 and Chinese Russian on the as far as that because I've
- 20:28heard recently a few. No hasn't Wow, that's a message
- 20:34is global. It's literally Global, but
- 20:36English is a universal language. I can say 100 times, you can go
- 20:41to France. English is spoken.
- 20:44You can go to Africa. Africa, South America, South
- 20:49America, Middle East, Middle East.
- 20:51English is spoken. English is such a universal
- 20:53language attracts, everyone from Every Way.
- 20:57So when you go to an English measureless, you will find And
- 21:00every single color identity language, sitting and listening
- 21:07to the English lecture, what can go to your mother tongue?
- 21:09You're only five people for me. I was going to say this is
- 21:11actually a good point because what's interesting is, let's
- 21:14take our break as an example, because it's easy to identify a
- 21:17geographical location. The people who listen to Arabic
- 21:20modulus or either in the Middle East or them at least in people
- 21:22around the world. Yeah.
- 21:23Or they're people who speak Arabic around the world.
- 21:26The interesting thing with English is you can give a
- 21:28lecture from London, UK A talk about the effect of XYZ tissue
- 21:34in the community. Talk about the rise of this
- 21:36problem, talk about solutions for that problem.
- 21:39And you may have someone in Nairobi Kenya who fully
- 21:41understands your message met someone from a completely
- 21:44different culture. Someone from Alaska someone from
- 21:47Australia, the thing is you're touching various communities
- 21:50around the world and be completely different
- 21:52ethnicities, different cultures, and being able to perhaps, and
- 21:55Charlotte impact their lives, and their day-to-day
- 21:57interactions as well. I think that's maybe Kind of the
- 22:01also like somewhat of a motivation behind the
- 22:03aftermarket podcast because you know our goal is specifically
- 22:06targeted for the sheer Western youth.
- 22:10But the idea being is that, you know, we have listeners.
- 22:12And we've engaged with so many people we've said before about
- 22:1450%, give or take of our listeners or International and
- 22:19loads of Us come from different backgrounds, different cultures,
- 22:22but we all share something in common.
- 22:25We're both speaking English because we can English, while we
- 22:27have different backgrounds, you have different backgrounds, but
- 22:29we share a bowl. Boss together Hubble has a
- 22:31hobbit Hussein. Yeah, but what languages
- 22:33English, of course, of course. And to be able to kinda, like I
- 22:36said, connecting Hubble Jose, Jose Lieb a TV in English
- 22:40because of its universality universality.
- 22:43I think that proves my point, though.
- 22:44Yeah, II mean, I think we're on the same page and again, we we
- 22:49reiterate this to run below, you know, we want to know what you
- 22:52think on this comment down below.
- 22:54Do you only listen to mother tongue language?
- 22:56If so, why do you only listen to English language?
- 22:59If so why Why and also lets me out.
- 23:02I'm at down to move slightly away from this debate of English
- 23:06modulus or having the measures in the water tank.
- 23:09Yeah. But I want to talk about the
- 23:11English language and how it's affected positively, our
- 23:15community, our children and the future generation to come.
- 23:18And we've seen mashallah communities arranging camps
- 23:23where people can go and have a chicken, the kids can go and you
- 23:27can be from any different background.
- 23:29You can speak any differently. Which everything is in English
- 23:32as bringing the community together and they are learning.
- 23:36I mean, educated about their faith, that's one example, and
- 23:39then you have other examples. For example, you have now
- 23:43educational materials, that is helping our youth is helping our
- 23:49children. Our young ones even from primary
- 23:51school age. Mmm, because I know we've had
- 23:53like, this, is this discussion, you know, outside of the podcast
- 23:57where you gave an example. For example, sometimes, Time's,
- 24:00the school's can give conflicting information to our
- 24:04little ones. You want to touch about that but
- 24:06I think will be beneficial for people hearing.
- 24:08Yeah, I mean, it's interesting because there are a lot of
- 24:13avenues of information in the day and age were living in
- 24:15social media influence from friends and and young people
- 24:20have to pay pressure and so on. And obviously generally
- 24:22speaking, when we look at curriculum in Islamic schools,
- 24:28the curriculum in Islamic schools is Identifiable, of
- 24:32course, with the Islamic values that we try to give to our
- 24:35children. These really important things
- 24:37for us to take into account, the English language, has been able
- 24:41to, for example, grasp and to pull various communities within
- 24:46our mud Hub, bring them to a central place and find a way to
- 24:50learn from one another. That's a beautiful thing that
- 24:52we've had in this community, we never.
- 24:55And I have to say this again, we never will down.
- 24:58What's the word I'm looking for? Play down the importance of our
- 25:02mother tongue. We always thankful to our
- 25:06parents and our ancestors for giving us the culture.
- 25:08We have the identity we have but of course we now have inherited
- 25:12a new identity by being born. A lot of us born and raised in
- 25:15the west. And of course, our children in
- 25:17sha Allah will develop and inherits a more diverse culture
- 25:21inshallah. I know you're right and I don't
- 25:23think we will even be having this discussion.
- 25:25If we were not living in the west like we're living in the
- 25:27west means, we know, we can know each other.
- 25:30We can learn from each other and show us.
- 25:32The other thing I want to touch upon is which I think is very
- 25:36important to mention is social media and why it's important to
- 25:42have our amazing lecturers and Scholars and recite is and you
- 25:47know, know how cons and Ciara, recited quranic recited or come
- 25:53online. When you're in English, when you
- 25:56are posting, whatever content you are rather that slammakin
- 25:59sin, you are doing is an Each language.
- 26:01Yeah, those people who are on this platform, be it Instagram
- 26:05via Twitter, wherever it be YouTube, they are relating to
- 26:08that content and they are learning from you and they're
- 26:11not being distracted by our by other platforms or other people.
- 26:15Are the figures who are on the platform.
- 26:17So the more English content that you can put on these social
- 26:20platforms, no more will benefit the world.
- 26:22Yeah, I mean, we have so many scholars, martial law, who are
- 26:26so well-versed in the English language that they can.
- 26:30The masses would their eloquence.
- 26:32So many scholars who, for example, have connections and
- 26:36relations with academic institutions with the
- 26:39professional world and learning from them.
- 26:42Not only educates us and our community.
- 26:45But also reaches the way, the wider World, there are so many
- 26:48people for example, on various apps and a lot of our Scholars
- 26:51on various apps, who are speaking to the general public,
- 26:54whether it's through Tweeting, or whether it's through
- 26:58Instagram, lives, or whatever it is, But those Scholars were
- 27:02doing that may Allah bless them because the work they're putting
- 27:05in is further to the member and they're giving some more
- 27:09relatable content. They're speaking to people, and
- 27:11of course the English language has brought us together with
- 27:13that. Right.
- 27:13You know what, the beauty behind the the point I'm saying here is
- 27:16because I have seen how it's affected the community, because
- 27:20sometimes you have people because they don't have a mother
- 27:23tongue, you know, they can be originally Arab, they can be
- 27:26originally rainy in African, whatever is They don't speak the
- 27:31mother tongue language, so because English is there, it's
- 27:34helping them gain knowledge. So, if we do have this olive
- 27:38oil, these Colors, by the way, the way they, you know, make
- 27:41amazing content. And so relatable to people who
- 27:44are following them, that they have followers of people using
- 27:48even. Imagine course, be interested in
- 27:50content that has to do with faith, or karbala Imam Hussain,
- 27:54but the fact is, in English is giving a connection to them.
- 27:57Let's bring the bringing them. Yeah, the faith and Charles I
- 28:01mean as a community we pray maybe we can get closer towards
- 28:05that stage where we have more institutions like a debate TV
- 28:11and of course, the other English-speaking channels.
- 28:13Everyone is doing great work. You know, everyone is we're
- 28:16trying to work together. That's the golden shot lover of
- 28:18all. Um, and of course I'll Community
- 28:20organizations who are hosting programs in the mother tongue as
- 28:22well as in English. Because at the end of the day,
- 28:25as we always say, the message of what Abdullah is universal is
- 28:28Eternal Soul. The language or consuming that
- 28:31in that message in. It's something I think for us
- 28:34all to benefit from. Can I add something that's not
- 28:37just thought? Yeah, for example, you can go to
- 28:39the house in Iraq. Yeah.
- 28:41They teach you in Arabic. Hmm.
- 28:43You can go to the house and you're on the teach in Farsi.
- 28:47So, you know, they have the same the same header for the same
- 28:50goal, which is to, you know, teach the faith bundle mother
- 28:56tongue languages and that's beautiful, you know culture as
- 28:59we've said Ed cultural beautiful culture is a beautifying asset,
- 29:06you know, to our identity into our personalities.
- 29:08There's even a rise of English Hauser, by the way.
- 29:10Yeah. Yeah.
- 29:11Of course, of course, and it's beautiful thing, martial law
- 29:13because we talked about bringing people who are brought into the
- 29:16faith, people who found the faith.
- 29:18Found we live, I live no be a pilot, you know, being able to
- 29:22fight to give Avenues and content, education, material
- 29:25out, there is so important. The more we have, the more
- 29:28inshallah we will Expand and grow as a community both in
- 29:31terms of quantity and quality, of course, that's our goal,
- 29:34Bronte sisters. We want to hear from you, like I
- 29:36said, drop any comments, you have down below and let us know
- 29:40what you think. Because of course, this is a
- 29:42really, really interesting discussion especially in these
