Mistake or New Possibility?
I received a nice message recently with a question related to one of my previous articles here on Muddy Colors called “Guided by Marks and Pareidolia”. The question was about knowing the difference between whether something is a mistake or more of an accidental new direction. It was a great question that I wanted to share, and answer and expand on it here.
“When you see something unexpected appear in a painting, how do you learn to recognize the difference between a mistake that needs fixing and an accident that the painting is asking you to keep?”
