  like

  we
• 1:57
  do
• 1:57
  on
• 1:57

  we

  we're

  that,

  now.
• 2:12
  We've
• 2:13
  been
• 2:13
  about
• 2:13
  a
• 2:14
  week,
• 2:14
  week
• 2:14
  and
• 2:14
  a
• 2:14
  half
• 2:15
  behind
• 2:15
  schedule
• 2:16
  with
• 2:16
  a
• 2:17
  nor'

  so

  pretty
• 2:21
  much
• 2:22
  New
• 2:22
  Hampshire,
• 2:23
  Maine,
• 2:25
  Massachusetts,
• 2:26
  Everybody's
• 2:26
  pretty
• 2:27
  much
• 2:27
  a
• 2:27
  week
• 2:27
  behind
• 2:28
  schedule,
• 2:30
  but
• 2:30
  there's,
• 2:31
  there's
• 2:31
  lots
• 2:32
  of
• 2:32
  fish
• 2:32
  on
• 2:32
  the
• 2:32
  flats.
• 2:33
  Today
• 2:33
  was
• 2:34
  another
• 2:34
  awesome
• 2:35
  day.
• 2:35
  Great
• 2:36
  viz,
• 2:37
  some
• 2:37
  nice
• 2:38
  bass
• 2:38
  to
• 2:38
  the

• 2:39
  So
• 2:40
  no
• 2:40
  complaints
• 2:41
  with
• 2:41
  days
• 2:41
  like
• 2:41
  today.
• 2:43
  Very,
• 2:43
  very
• 2:43
  neat.
• 2:44
  Yeah,
• 2:44
  you
• 2:44
  were
• 2:44
  up
• 2:44
  early.
• 2:44
  I
• 2:44
  think
• 2:45
  you
• 2:45
  texted
• 2:45
  me
• 2:45
  at
• 2:45
  5:15
• 2:46
  this
• 2:46
  morning.
• 2:47
  Yeah,
• 2:48
  I
• 2:48
  get
• 2:49
  up
• 2:49
  at
• 2:49
  3:15
• 2:50
  every
• 2:50
  day.
• 2:51
  Oh,
• 2:52
  wow.
• 2:53
  Yeah,
• 2:53
  the
• 2:54
  grind.
• 2:56
  Love
• 2:56
  it.
• 2:56
  Yeah.
• 2:57
  So,
• 2:57
  you
• 2:57
  know,
• 2:57
  you
• 2:58
  are
• 2:58
  one
• 2:58
  of
• 2:58
  the
• 2:58
  keepers
• 2:59
  of
• 2:59
  the
• 2:59

• 3:00
  of
• 3:00
  Bob
• 3:00
  Popovic's
• 3:01
  flies
• 3:01
  and
• 3:01
  all
• 3:01
  of
• 3:02
  his
• 3:02
  tying
• 3:02
  methods.
• 3:02
  And
• 3:02
  I
• 3:03
  was
• 3:03
  really
• 3:03
  curious
• 3:03
  before
• 3:04
  we
• 3:04
  start
• 3:04
  talking
• 3:04
  about
• 3:04
  the
• 3:05
  beast
• 3:05
  fly,
• 3:05
  you.
• 3:06
  Know,
• 3:06
  how
• 3:06
  did
• 3:06
  you
• 3:06
  meet
• 3:06
  Bob?
• 3:09
  So
• 3:10
  it's
• 3:10
  funny,
• 3:10
  I,
• 3:11
  I
• 3:11
  met
• 3:11
  him
• 3:11
  later
• 3:12
  in
• 3:12
  his
• 3:13
  life
• 3:14
  and
• 3:14
  it
• 3:15
  was
• 3:15
  kind
• 3:15
  of
• 3:15
  happenstance,
• 3:16
  you
• 3:17
  know,
• 3:17
  being
• 3:17
  up
• 3:17
  in
• 3:17
  Maine.
• 3:18
  I'm
• 3:18
  not
• 3:18
  like
• 3:19
  down
• 3:19
  the
• 3:19
  road
• 3:19
  from
• 3:20
  him
• 3:20
  or
• 3:20
  really
• 3:21
  in
• 3:22
  the
• 3:22
  scene,
• 3:23
  I
• 3:23
  guess,
• 3:24
  and
• 3:25
  I
• 3:25
  purposely
• 3:26
  kind
• 3:26
  of
• 3:26
  stayed
• 3:27
  on
• 3:27
  the
• 3:27
  outskirts
• 3:28
  because
• 3:28
  I
• 3:28
  tie,
• 3:29
  I've
• 3:29
  tied
• 3:29
  for
• 3:30
  since
• 3:30
  I
• 3:30
  was
• 3:31
  little,
• 3:33
  but
• 3:33
  I
• 3:33
  tie
• 3:33
  for
• 3:34
  myself
• 3:34
  and
• 3:34
  tie
• 3:35
  to,
• 3:35
  to
• 3:35
  do
• 3:35
  my
• 3:36
  own
• 3:36
  thing
• 3:36
  and,
• 3:37
  you
• 3:37
  know,
• 3:37
  figure
• 3:38
  my
• 3:38
  own
• 3:38
  fishing
• 3:38
  out.
• 3:39
  But
• 3:39
  back
• 3:39
  in
• 3:40
  2019,
• 3:41
  I
• 3:41
  think
• 3:42
  winter
• 3:42
  of
• 3:42
  2019,
• 3:46
  someone
• 3:47
  I

• 3:56
  by
• 3:56
  my
• 3:57
  house
• 3:57
  and
• 3:58
  hang
• 3:58
  out.
• 3:59
  So
• 4:00
  my
• 4:00
  wife
• 4:00
  was
• 4:00
  a
• 4:01
  little
• 4:02
  doubtful
• 4:02
  of
• 4:03
  that
• 4:03
  decision,
• 4:04
  but
• 4:04
  I
• 4:04
  obliged
• 4:05
  and
• 4:07
  we
• 4:07
  hung
• 4:07
  out,
• 4:08
  tied
• 4:08
  some
• 4:08
  flies.
• 4:09
  And
• 4:10
  I
• 4:10
  didn't
• 4:10
  realize,
• 4:11
  but
• 4:11
  when
• 4:11
  he
• 4:12
  left,
• 4:12
  he
• 4:12
  ended
• 4:12
  up
• 4:13
  going
• 4:13
  down
• 4:14
  and,
• 4:14
  and
• 4:16
  sharing
• 4:16
  with
• 4:16
  Bob
• 4:17
  one
• 4:17
  of
• 4:18
  the
• 4:18
  flies
• 4:18
  I
• 4:18
  had
• 4:18
  given.
• 4:19
  Given
• 4:19
  him.
• 4:20
  And
• 4:21
  it
• 4:21
  was
• 4:21
  the
• 4:22
  next
• 4:22
  day
• 4:22
  I
• 4:22
  got
• 4:22
  a
• 4:22
  call
• 4:23
  from
• 4:23
  Bob
• 4:23
  pretty
• 4:24
  much
• 4:24
  out
• 4:24
  of
• 4:24
  the
• 4:24
  blue,
• 4:25
  and.
• 4:27
  And
• 4:28
  we
• 4:28
  kind
• 4:28
  of
• 4:28
  hit
• 4:28
  it
• 4:28
  off
• 4:29
  then.
• 4:29
  And
• 4:30
  then
• 4:30
  Covid
• 4:30
  hit
• 4:32
  and
• 4:33
  he,
• 4:33
  he
• 4:33
  had
• 4:33
  his
• 4:34
  restaurant
• 4:34
  in
• 4:36
  New
• 4:37
  Jersey.
• 4:37
  And
• 4:38
  every
• 4:38
  Monday,
• 4:38
  his
• 4:39
  night,
• 4:40
  his,
• 4:41
  his
• 4:41
  restaurant
• 4:42
  was
• 4:42
  closed,
• 4:43
  so
• 4:44
  I
• 4:44
  didn't
• 4:44
  realize
• 4:46
  the
• 4:46
  importance
• 4:47
  of
• 4:47
  it.
• 4:47
  But
• 4:47
  every,
• 4:48
  every
• 4:48
  Monday
• 4:49
  night
• 4:50
  at
• 4:50
  after
• 4:51
  dinner,
• 4:51
  we'd
• 4:52
  start
• 4:52
  texting
• 4:53
  or
• 4:53
  calling
• 4:53
  and
• 4:54
  he'd
• 4:55
  share,
• 4:56
  you
• 4:56
  know,
• 4:56
  articles
• 4:57
  and
• 4:58
  videos
• 4:59
  and
• 4:59
  just,
• 5:00
  you
• 5:00
  know,
• 5:00
  answering
• 5:01
  all
• 5:01
  my
• 5:02
  naive
• 5:03
  or,
• 5:03
  you
• 5:04
  know,
• 5:04
  and,
• 5:05
  and
• 5:06
  kind
• 5:06
  of
• 5:06
  educating
• 5:07
  me
• 5:07
  on
• 5:07
  the
• 5:07
  history
• 5:08
  of
• 5:08
  all
• 5:08
  this
• 5:08
  stuff,
• 5:09
  and
• 5:10
  it
• 5:10
  kind
• 5:10
  of
• 5:11
  grew
• 5:11
  from
• 5:11
  there.
• 5:13
  I'm,
• 5:14
  I'm
• 5:14
  very
• 5:14
  much
• 5:15
  one
• 5:15
  a
• 5:16
  type
• 5:16
  of
• 5:16
  person
• 5:16
  where
• 5:18
  I
• 5:18
  think
• 5:18
  history
• 5:19
  is
• 5:20
  very
• 5:20
  important
• 5:21
  to
• 5:22
  the
• 5:22
  sport
• 5:22
  and
• 5:23
  just
• 5:23
  in
• 5:24
  general
• 5:25
  and,
• 5:26
  you
• 5:26
  know,
• 5:27
  just
• 5:27
  being
• 5:27
  able
• 5:28
  to
• 5:28
  sit
• 5:28
  back
• 5:28
  and
• 5:29
  listen
• 5:29
  and
• 5:29
  learn
• 5:30
  from,
• 5:30
  from
• 5:32
  someone
• 5:32
  that's
• 5:33
  put
• 5:33
  so
• 5:33
  much
• 5:34
  effort
• 5:34
  and
• 5:34
  time
• 5:35
  and
• 5:35
  passion.
• 5:36
  And
• 5:38
  so
• 5:39
  we
• 5:39
  were
• 5:39
  very
• 5:39
  similar
• 5:40
  and,
• 5:40
  and
• 5:40
  hit
• 5:40
  it
• 5:41
  off
• 5:41
  and
• 5:42
  boy,
• 5:43
  super
• 5:43
  grateful
• 5:44
  I,
• 5:44
  I
• 5:44
  got
• 5:45
  the
• 5:45
  little
• 5:45
  bit
• 5:46
  of
• 5:46
  time
• 5:46
  to
• 5:46
  really
• 5:47
  get
• 5:47
  to
• 5:47
  know
• 5:47
  him
• 5:49
  and
• 5:49
  got
• 5:50
  to
• 5:50
  get
• 5:50
  down
• 5:50
  and
• 5:51
  tie
• 5:51
  in
• 5:51
  as
• 5:52
  tying
• 5:52
  room
• 5:52
  And
• 5:53
  a
• 5:54
  handful
• 5:54
  of
• 5:54
  times
• 5:55
  and,
• 5:55
  you
• 5:55
  know,
• 5:56
  just
• 5:56
  very
• 5:57
  generous
• 5:57
  and
• 5:59
  miss
• 5:59
  that
• 5:59
  guy
• 6:00
  big
• 6:00
  time.
• 6:01
  Yeah,
• 6:01
  absolutely.
• 6:01
  I
• 6:02
  mean,
• 6:02
  so
• 6:02
  when
• 6:02
  you
• 6:02
  were
• 6:02
  sharing
• 6:03
  information,
• 6:03
  was
• 6:03
  it
• 6:03
  kind
• 6:04
  of,
• 6:04
  you
• 6:04
  know,
• 6:04
  kind
• 6:04
  of
• 6:04
  zooms
• 6:05
  and
• 6:05
  phone
• 6:05
  calls,
• 6:06
  or
• 6:06
  were
• 6:06
  you
• 6:06
  sending
• 6:06
  flies
• 6:07
  back
• 6:07
  and
• 6:07
  forth?
• 6:07
  I
• 6:07
  mean,
• 6:08
  you
• 6:08
  know,
• 6:08
  is
• 6:08
  it
• 6:08
  a
• 6:09
  little
• 6:09
  mix
• 6:09
  of
• 6:09
  old
• 6:09
  school
• 6:09
  and
• 6:09
  new
• 6:10
  school
• 6:10
  or
• 6:10
  kind
• 6:10
  of.
• 6:10
  How
• 6:10
  did
• 6:11
  you
• 6:11
  do
• 6:11
  that?
• 6:12
  Yeah,
• 6:13
  so
• 6:14
  definitely
• 6:14
  some
• 6:15
  flies
• 6:15
  back
• 6:15
  and
• 6:16
  forth.
• 6:16
  He
• 6:16
  sent
• 6:16
  me
• 6:18
  a
• 6:18
  couple
• 6:19
  beasts
• 6:19
  that
• 6:20
  I
• 6:20
  have
• 6:20
  mounted
• 6:20
  in
• 6:20
  my
• 6:21
  office
• 6:21
  now,
• 6:24
  and
• 6:24
  I'd
• 6:24
  send
• 6:24
  him
• 6:25
  some
• 6:25
  and
• 6:26
  then,
• 6:26
  you
• 6:27
  know,
• 6:27
  text
• 6:28
  messages.
• 6:28
  He
• 6:28
  was
• 6:29
  big
• 6:29
  on
• 6:29
  text
• 6:29
  messages,
• 6:30
  and
• 6:31
  he'd
• 6:31
  accidentally
• 6:32
  FaceTime
• 6:33
  me
• 6:33
  all
• 6:33
  the
• 6:33
  time
• 6:34
  while
• 6:34
  he's,
• 6:34
  like,
• 6:34
  driving
• 6:35
  to
• 6:35
  work
• 6:35
  and.
• 6:36
  And
• 6:36
  which
• 6:37
  he
• 6:37
  always
• 6:37
  got
• 6:37
  a
• 6:38
  kick
• 6:38
  out
• 6:38
  of
• 6:39
  because
• 6:39
  he.
• 6:39
  He
• 6:39
  thought
• 6:40
  he
• 6:40
  was,
• 6:40
  you
• 6:41
  know,
• 6:43
  putting
• 6:43
  me
• 6:43
  out
• 6:43
  or,
• 6:44
  you
• 6:44
  know,
• 6:44
  just
• 6:45
  a
• 6:45
  random
• 6:45
  butt
• 6:46
  dial.
• 6:46
  And
• 6:46
  I
• 6:46
  was
• 6:47
  like,
• 6:48
  you
• 6:48
  know,
• 6:48
  ecstatic
• 6:49
  to
• 6:49
  get
• 6:49
  to
• 6:49
  chat
• 6:49
  with
• 6:49
  him
• 6:50
  on
• 6:50
  his
• 6:50
  way
• 6:50
  to
• 6:50
  work.
• 6:51
  So.
• 6:52
  But.
• 6:53
  And
• 6:53
  then
• 6:53
  DVDs,
• 6:54
  like,
• 6:54
  he
• 6:55
  had
• 6:55
  burnt
• 6:55
  DVDs
• 6:56
  of,
• 6:56
  like,
• 6:56
  a
• 6:57
  ton
• 6:57
  of
• 6:57
  videos
• 6:58
  he
• 6:58
  did,
• 6:58
  so
• 6:58
  he
• 6:59
  sent
• 6:59
  those
• 6:59
  to
• 7:00
  me.
• 7:00
  And
• 7:01
  so
• 7:01
  kind
• 7:01
  of
• 7:01
  a
• 7:02
  blend
• 7:02
  of
• 7:02
  all
• 7:02
  of
• 7:02
  the
• 7:03
  above.
• 7:04
  You
• 7:05
  know,
• 7:05
  I
• 7:05
  think
• 7:05
  a
• 7:05
  lot
• 7:05
  of.
• 7:06
  A
• 7:06
  lot
• 7:06
  of
• 7:06
  the.
• 7:07
  The
• 7:07
  greats
• 7:09
  want
• 7:09
  to
• 7:10
  pass
• 7:10
  it
• 7:10
  on.
• 7:10
  You
• 7:11
  know,
• 7:11
  it's
• 7:11
  one
• 7:11
  of
• 7:12
  those
• 7:12
  things
• 7:12
  where
• 7:13
  you
• 7:13
  just
• 7:13
  have
• 7:14
  to
• 7:14
  be
• 7:14
  open
• 7:14
  and
• 7:14
  willing
• 7:15
  to
• 7:15
  listen,
• 7:16
  you
• 7:16
  know,
• 7:16
  and
• 7:16
  I
• 7:17
  try
• 7:17
  to.
• 7:17
  I
• 7:17
  try
• 7:18
  to
• 7:18
  embody
• 7:18
  that
• 7:18
  in
• 7:19
  all
• 7:19
  the
• 7:19
  classes
• 7:19
  I
• 7:20
  teach.
• 7:20
  And
• 7:21
  it's
• 7:21
  like,
• 7:22
  you
• 7:22
  know,
• 7:24
  giving.
• 7:25
  Giving
• 7:26
  your
• 7:27
  knowledge
• 7:27
  freely
• 7:28
  to
• 7:28
  people
• 7:29
  willing
• 7:29
  to
• 7:29
  listen
• 7:30
  isn't
• 7:30
  taking
• 7:30
  away
• 7:31
  from
• 7:31
  your
• 7:31
  greatness,
• 7:32
  you
• 7:32
  know,
• 7:33
  And
• 7:33
  I
• 7:33
  think
• 7:34
  when
• 7:34
  you're
• 7:34
  young,
• 7:34
  you
• 7:35
  might
• 7:35
  think
• 7:35
  that,
• 7:36
  but
• 7:36
  I
• 7:37
  think
• 7:37
  it's
• 7:37
  what
• 7:38
  makes
• 7:39
  them
• 7:39
  great
• 7:40
  wholeheartedly.
• 7:41
  Like,
• 7:41
  I
• 7:41
  think
• 7:41
  it's.
• 7:42
  It's
• 7:43
  that
• 7:43
  kind
• 7:43
  of
• 7:43
  selfless
• 7:44
  passing.
• 7:45
  Passing
• 7:45
  it
• 7:45
  on,
• 7:46
  carrying
• 7:46
  the
• 7:46
  torch.
• 7:47
  That
• 7:47
  is
• 7:48
  why
• 7:48
  our
• 7:48
  sport
• 7:49
  is
• 7:49
  so
• 7:49
  great,
• 7:49
  you
• 7:50
  know?
• 7:51
  Yeah,
• 7:51
  it's
• 7:51
  super
• 7:52
  neat.
• 7:52
  Like,
• 7:52
  you
• 7:52
  know,
• 7:53
  I.
• 7:53
  I
• 7:53
  didn't
• 7:53
  know
• 7:54
  Bob
• 7:54
  well,
• 7:54
  but
• 7:55
  I
• 7:55
  could
• 7:55
  watch
• 7:55
  him
• 7:55
  on
• 7:55
  social
• 7:56
  media
• 7:56
  and
• 7:56
  you
• 7:56
  would
• 7:56
  see
• 7:56
  him
• 7:57
  supporting
• 7:57
  all
• 7:58
  of
• 7:58
  these
• 7:58
  younger
• 7:58
  tires.
• 7:59
  Yep.
• 8:00
  Right.
• 8:00
  And,
• 8:01
  you
• 8:01
  know,
• 8:01
  I
• 8:01
  can't,
• 8:01
  you
• 8:02
  know.
• 8:02
  You
• 8:02
  know,
• 8:02
  I
• 8:02
  just
• 8:02
  always
• 8:03
  remember
• 8:03
  he
• 8:03
  would
• 8:03
  be
• 8:03
  like,
• 8:03
  hey,
• 8:04
  this
• 8:04
  looks
• 8:04
  great.
• 8:05
  Look
• 8:05
  at
• 8:05
  this
• 8:05
  fly
• 8:05
  by,
• 8:06
  this
• 8:06
  guy.
• 8:07
  Which
• 8:07
  I
• 8:07
  thought
• 8:07
  was
• 8:08
  super
• 8:08
  cool.
• 8:09
  Yep.
• 8:10
  Yeah,
• 8:11
  you.
• 8:12
  You
• 8:12
  know,
• 8:12
  I
• 8:12
  think
• 8:15
  there
• 8:15
  are
• 8:15
  very
• 8:15
  few
• 8:16
  people
• 8:16
  in
• 8:16
  our
• 8:17
  industry
• 8:19
  that
• 8:19
  have
• 8:19
  had
• 8:20
  the
• 8:20
  impact
• 8:21
  that
• 8:21
  he
• 8:21
  had,
• 8:22
  and
• 8:22
  more
• 8:23
  so.
• 8:23
  More
• 8:23
  so
• 8:24
  than
• 8:24
  like
• 8:24
  a
• 8:25
  pattern
• 8:25
  or
• 8:25
  even
• 8:26
  50
• 8:27
  patterns,
• 8:27
  you
• 8:28
  know,
• 8:28
  however
• 8:28
  many.
• 8:28
  He
• 8:29
  came
• 8:29
  out
• 8:29
  with
• 8:30
  the.
• 8:30
  The
• 8:31
  revolutionary
• 8:32
  idea,
• 8:32
  and
• 8:32
  Blaine's
• 8:33
  another
• 8:33
  one,
• 8:33
  in
• 8:33
  my
• 8:33
  opinion,
• 8:34
  kind
• 8:34
  of
• 8:35
  charting
• 8:36
  that
• 8:36
  path,
• 8:36
  too,
• 8:37
  is
• 8:37
  like,
• 8:37
  coming
• 8:38
  out
• 8:38
  with
• 8:38
  these
• 8:38
  platforms.
• 8:39
  You
• 8:40
  know,
• 8:40
  he.
• 8:40
  He's
• 8:41
  like,
• 8:41
  sure.
• 8:41
  Here
• 8:42
  are
• 8:42
  the
• 8:42
  patterns.
• 8:43
  This
• 8:43
  is
• 8:43
  how
• 8:43
  you
• 8:43
  can
• 8:43
  tie
• 8:44
  them.
• 8:44
  But.
• 8:44
  But
• 8:45
  this
• 8:45
  is
• 8:46
  like,
• 8:46
  take
• 8:47
  it
• 8:47
  and
• 8:47
  do
• 8:48
  with
• 8:48
  what?
• 8:49
  Do
• 8:49
  with
• 8:49
  it.
• 8:50
  You
• 8:50
  know,
• 8:50
  whatever
• 8:51
  you
• 8:51
  want
• 8:52
  in
• 8:52
  your
• 8:52
  fishery.
• 8:53
  You
• 8:53
  know,
• 8:53
  this
• 8:53
  is.
• 8:54
  These
• 8:54
  aren't,
• 8:55
  like,
• 8:55
  hard,
• 8:55
  fast
• 8:56
  rules.
• 8:56
  Take
• 8:57
  it,
• 8:57
  build
• 8:57
  upon
• 8:58
  it,
• 8:59
  and
• 8:59
  keep
• 8:59
  pushing
• 9:00
  the
• 9:00
  envelope.
• 9:01
  And,
• 9:01
  you
• 9:01
  know,
• 9:02
  I
• 9:02
  think
• 9:02
  that's
• 9:02
  neat
• 9:03
  because
• 9:04
  it's
• 9:04
  easy
• 9:05
  to
• 9:05
  kind
• 9:05
  of
• 9:05
  get
• 9:06
  caught
• 9:06
  in
• 9:06
  that.
• 9:07
  Like,
• 9:08
  that's
• 9:09
  not
• 9:09
  tied
• 9:09
  how
• 9:09
  the
• 9:10
  originator
• 9:10
  tied
• 9:11
  it,
• 9:11
  you
• 9:11
  know,
• 9:11
  and
• 9:11
  it's
• 9:12
  like
• 9:13
  his
• 9:13
  intent
• 9:13
  was
• 9:14
  for
• 9:14
  his
• 9:14
  fishery.
• 9:15
  And
• 9:15
  he
• 9:16
  kind
• 9:16
  of
• 9:16
  got
• 9:16
  to
• 9:16
  the
• 9:17
  point,
• 9:17
  I
• 9:18
  remember
• 9:18
  him
• 9:18
  telling
• 9:19
  me
• 9:19
  where
• 9:20
  all
• 9:21
  of
• 9:21
  the
• 9:21
  baits
• 9:21
  in
• 9:22
  his.
• 9:22
  His
• 9:23
  fishery
• 9:24
  that
• 9:25
  he
• 9:25
  wanted
• 9:25
  to
• 9:25
  mimic,
• 9:26
  he
• 9:26
  had
• 9:26
  come
• 9:26
  up
• 9:26
  with
• 9:27
  patterns.
• 9:28
  So
• 9:28
  at
• 9:28
  that
• 9:29
  point,
• 9:29
  he's
• 9:29
  like,
• 9:30
  I'm.
• 9:30
  I'm
• 9:31
  satisfied
• 9:31
  with
• 9:32
  the
• 9:33
  imitations
• 9:33
  for
• 9:34
  those
• 9:34
  given
• 9:34
  situations.
• 9:35
  Right.
• 9:36
  Which
• 9:37
  was
• 9:37
  kind
• 9:37
  of
• 9:37
  when
• 9:38
  he
• 9:38
  switched
• 9:39
  more
• 9:39
  towards
• 9:40
  helping
• 9:41
  others,
• 9:41
  I
• 9:42
  think,
• 9:42
  because
• 9:42
  he
• 9:43
  was
• 9:43
  satisfied
• 9:43
  kind
• 9:44
  of
• 9:44
  with.
• 9:44
  With
• 9:45
  his
• 9:45
  quest
• 9:46
  to
• 9:46
  dial
• 9:47
  in
• 9:47
  his
• 9:47
  fishery,
• 9:48
  you
• 9:48
  know,
• 9:49
  Very,
• 9:50
  very
• 9:50
  neat.
• 9:50
  Do
• 9:50
  you
• 9:50
  know
• 9:51
  where
• 9:51
  the
• 9:52
  name
• 9:52
  for
• 9:52
  the
• 9:52
  beast
• 9:52
  fly
• 9:52
  came
• 9:53
  from?
• 9:54
  I
• 9:54
  do,
• 9:54
  yeah.
• 9:55
  So
• 9:55
  the
• 9:56
  first,
• 9:57
  like,
• 9:57
  beast
• 9:57
  fly,
• 10:00
  Bob.
• 10:01
  Bob
• 10:01
  had
• 10:01
  been
• 10:02
  out
• 10:03
  with
• 10:03
  his
• 10:03
  buddy
• 10:03
  Lance
• 10:04
  in
• 10:05
  Barnegat
• 10:06
  Bay,
• 10:07
  and
• 10:08
  there
• 10:08
  is
• 10:08
  a
• 10:08
  bunch
• 10:09
  of
• 10:09
  horse
• 10:09
  mackerel
• 10:10
  or
• 10:11
  a
• 10:11
  horse
• 10:11
  bunker,
• 10:12
  sorry,
• 10:12
  horse
• 10:13
  bunker,
• 10:14
  like
• 10:14
  monster
• 10:15
  ones
• 10:15
  that.
• 10:16
  And
• 10:17
  he
• 10:17
  was
• 10:17
  throwing,
• 10:17
  like,
• 10:18
  an
• 10:18
  extended
• 10:18
  body
• 10:19
  hollow
• 10:19
  fly.
• 10:20
  So,
• 10:20
  like,
• 10:20
  the
• 10:21
  tail
• 10:21
  was
• 10:21
  tied
• 10:21
  on
• 10:22
  a
• 10:22
  piece
• 10:22
  of
• 10:22
  mono
• 10:23
  extension
• 10:23
  to
• 10:24
  get
• 10:24
  the
• 10:24
  length,
• 10:25
  and
• 10:27
  they
• 10:27
  couldn't.
• 10:27
  They
• 10:27
  didn't
• 10:28
  connect
• 10:28
  with
• 10:28
  any
• 10:28
  fish.
• 10:29
  But,
• 10:29
  like,
• 10:30
  the
• 10:31
  biggest
• 10:31
  pattern
• 10:32
  he
• 10:32
  had
• 10:33
  just
• 10:33
  was
• 10:34
  so
• 10:34
  tiny
• 10:34
  in
• 10:35
  comparison.
• 10:37
  And
• 10:37
  there's
• 10:37
  a
• 10:37
  lot
• 10:38
  more
• 10:38
  to,
• 10:38
  like,
• 10:39
  the
• 10:39
  hollow
• 10:39
  fly
• 10:40
  and
• 10:40
  kind
• 10:40
  of
• 10:40
  how
• 10:40
  that
• 10:41
  came
• 10:41
  to
• 10:41
  be
• 10:41
  that
• 10:41
  we
• 10:42
  can
• 10:42
  discuss.
• 10:43
  But
• 10:43
  the.
• 10:44
  As
• 10:44
  far
• 10:44
  as
• 10:44
  the
• 10:44
  name
• 10:45
  goes.
• 10:45
  So
• 10:45
  he.
• 10:46
  He
• 10:46
  ended
• 10:46
  up
• 10:46
  going
• 10:47
  home
• 10:47
  and
• 10:47
  like,
• 10:49
  figured
• 10:50
  out
• 10:50
  this
• 10:50
  extended
• 10:51
  body
• 10:51
  in
• 10:51
  the
• 10:51
  hollow
• 10:52
  and
• 10:53
  literally
• 10:54
  made
• 10:54
  this
• 10:55
  fly
• 10:55
  that
• 10:56
  was
• 10:56
  14
• 10:56
  inches
• 10:57
  by
• 10:57
  6
• 10:58
  inches
• 10:58
  by
• 10:59
  2
• 10:59
  1/2
• 10:59
  inches,
• 11:00
  right?
• 11:01
  Absolute
• 11:02
  tank.
• 11:03
  Right.
• 11:03
  Dense
• 11:03
  head,
• 11:04
  sparser
• 11:05
  tail.
• 11:05
  And
• 11:06
  he
• 11:06
  went
• 11:06
  out,
• 11:07
  I
• 11:08
  think,
• 11:08
  on
• 11:08
  Island
• 11:08
  Beach
• 11:09
  State
• 11:09
  park
• 11:09
  with
• 11:09
  Johnny
• 11:10
  King.
• 11:11
  And
• 11:12
  Johnny
• 11:12
  King
• 11:13
  coined
• 11:13
  it
• 11:14
  the
• 11:14
  beast
• 11:14
  because
• 11:15
  it
• 11:15
  was
• 11:15
  a
• 11:16
  beast
• 11:16
  in
• 11:17
  size
• 11:17
  and
• 11:17
  a
• 11:18
  beast
• 11:18
  to
• 11:18
  cast.
• 11:19
  And
• 11:19
  it
• 11:20
  stuck.
• 11:20
  Johnny
• 11:21
  still
• 11:21
  has
• 11:22
  that.
• 11:22
  That
• 11:23
  fly.
• 11:25
  Very,
• 11:25
  very
• 11:25
  neat.
• 11:26
  And
• 11:26
  so,
• 11:26
  you
• 11:26
  know,
• 11:26
  my
• 11:26
  understanding
• 11:27
  is
• 11:27
  really
• 11:28
  that,
• 11:29
  you
• 11:29
  know,
• 11:29
  evolution
• 11:30
  from
• 11:30
  the
• 11:30
  hollow
• 11:30
  fly
• 11:31
  to
• 11:31
  the
• 11:31
  beast
• 11:31
  fly
• 11:32
  was
• 11:32
  really
• 11:33
  Bob
• 11:33
  trying
• 11:33
  to
• 11:33
  solve
• 11:34
  the
• 11:34
  problem
• 11:34
  of
• 11:34
  having
• 11:35
  a
• 11:35
  large
• 11:35
  fly
• 11:35
  that
• 11:36
  you
• 11:36
  could
• 11:36
  cast
• 11:36
  on
• 11:36
  a
• 11:36
  fly
• 11:37
  ride.
• 11:37
  Right.
• 11:39
  So
• 11:39
  the
• 11:39
  hollow
• 11:40
  fly,
• 11:40
  interestingly
• 11:41
  enough,
• 11:43
  you
• 11:43
  know,
• 11:44
  he
• 11:44
  wasn't
• 11:45
  ever
• 11:45
  intended
• 11:46
  for
• 11:46
  size
• 11:47
  is
• 11:48
  like
• 11:48
  length.
• 11:49
  He
• 11:50
  was
• 11:50
  trying
• 11:50
  to
• 11:51
  come
• 11:51
  up
• 11:51
  with
• 11:52
  a
• 11:52
  method
• 11:53
  because
• 11:54
  he
• 11:54
  was.
• 11:54
  He
• 11:54
  was
• 11:55
  really
• 11:55
  curious.
• 11:57
  I
• 11:58
  think,
• 11:58
  like,
• 11:58
  it
• 11:59
  initially
• 11:59
  kicked
• 11:59
  off
• 12:00
  when
• 12:00
  he
• 12:00
  was
• 12:00
  In
• 12:00
  Mexico
• 12:01
  and
• 12:02
  saw
• 12:02
  a
• 12:02
  guy
• 12:02
  throwing
• 12:03
  a
• 12:03
  jig
• 12:04
  with
• 12:04
  where
• 12:04
  the.
• 12:04
  The
• 12:05
  synthetic
• 12:05
  fibers
• 12:06
  were
• 12:06
  tied
• 12:06
  forward.
• 12:07
  And
• 12:07
  as
• 12:08
  he
• 12:08
  ripped
• 12:08
  two
• 12:08
  hand
• 12:09
  ripped
• 12:09
  this
• 12:09
  thing
• 12:10
  back,
• 12:10
  you
• 12:11
  know,
• 12:11
  it
• 12:11
  wasn't
• 12:11
  a
• 12:11
  fly
• 12:11
  rod,
• 12:12
  but
• 12:13
  it
• 12:13
  pulsed,
• 12:14
  right.
• 12:15
  And
• 12:15
  it
• 12:15
  got
• 12:15
  his
• 12:15
  brain
• 12:16
  thinking,
• 12:16
  like,
• 12:17
  maybe
• 12:17
  if
• 12:17
  I
• 12:17
  can
• 12:18
  tie
• 12:18
  fibers
• 12:19
  in
• 12:20
  reverse
• 12:21
  and
• 12:22
  manipulate
• 12:23
  it,
• 12:23
  I
• 12:23
  can
• 12:23
  get
• 12:24
  height
• 12:25
  to
• 12:25
  like
• 12:25
  imitate
• 12:26
  peanut
• 12:27
  bunker.
• 12:27
  You
• 12:27
  know,
• 12:28
  the
• 12:28
  first
• 12:28
  ones
• 12:28
  he
• 12:29
  tied
• 12:29
  were
• 12:31
  probably
• 12:31
  five
• 12:32
  inches,
• 12:32
  I
• 12:32
  think
• 12:34
  four
• 12:34
  or
• 12:34
  five
• 12:35
  inches.
• 12:35
  And
• 12:36
  it
• 12:36
  was
• 12:36
  all
• 12:36
  about
• 12:36
  controlling
• 12:37
  that
• 12:37
  height
• 12:38
  of
• 12:38
  it
• 12:39
  to
• 12:39
  get
• 12:39
  that
• 12:39
  broader
• 12:40
  profile
• 12:42
  by
• 12:43
  adjusting
• 12:44
  the
• 12:44
  amount
• 12:44
  of
• 12:45
  pressure
• 12:45
  you
• 12:46
  put
• 12:46
  on
• 12:46
  the
• 12:46
  fibers,
• 12:47
  right.
• 12:48
  And
• 12:48
  it.
• 12:49
  So
• 12:50
  he
• 12:50
  did
• 12:50
  that.
• 12:51
  That
• 12:51
  was
• 12:51
  the
• 12:51
  kind
• 12:52
  of
• 12:52
  the
• 12:52
  revolutionary
• 12:53
  hollow
• 12:53
  fly.
• 12:55
  And
• 12:55
  then
• 12:55
  it
• 12:56
  progressed.
• 12:57
  You
• 12:57
  know,
• 12:57
  I
• 12:57
  think
• 12:57
  that's
• 12:58
  the
• 12:58
  cool
• 12:58
  thing.
• 12:58
  If
• 12:59
  you
• 12:59
  look
• 13:00
  back
• 13:00
  at
• 13:00
  all
• 13:00
  of
• 13:01
  his.
• 13:02
  The
• 13:02
  career,
• 13:02
  it's
• 13:03
  like
• 13:03
  one
• 13:03
  piece,
• 13:04
  a
• 13:04
  building
• 13:05
  block,
• 13:05
  you
• 13:06
  know,
• 13:06
  each.
• 13:06
  Each
• 13:07
  fly
• 13:07
  kind
• 13:07
  of
• 13:08
  built
• 13:08
  upon
• 13:08
  the
• 13:08
  other.
• 13:09
  Right.
• 13:09
  The
• 13:10
  beast
• 13:10
  fly
• 13:11
  is
• 13:11
  composed
• 13:12
  of
• 13:12
  that
• 13:13
  extended
• 13:13
  body
• 13:14
  that
• 13:14
  he
• 13:14
  started
• 13:15
  playing
• 13:16
  with,
• 13:16
  like
• 13:16
  tying
• 13:17
  on
• 13:17
  mono
• 13:18
  extension
• 13:19
  back
• 13:19
  in
• 13:19
  the
• 13:20
  70s
• 13:21
  that
• 13:21
  he
• 13:22
  then
• 13:22
  put
• 13:22
  aside
• 13:23
  and
• 13:24
  played
• 13:24
  with
• 13:25
  the.
• 13:26
  Came
• 13:26
  up
• 13:26
  with
• 13:26
  the
• 13:26
  hollow
• 13:27
  technique
• 13:27
  later
• 13:28
  on,
• 13:29
  and
• 13:29
  then
• 13:29
  the
• 13:30
  bulkhead
• 13:31
  technique.
• 13:32
  And
• 13:33
  the
• 13:33
  beast
• 13:34
  fly
• 13:34
  is
• 13:34
  a
• 13:34
  composition
• 13:35
  of
• 13:36
  the
• 13:36
  bulkhead,
• 13:37
  the
• 13:38
  hollow
• 13:38
  fly
• 13:39
  body,
• 13:39
  and.
• 13:41
  And
• 13:41
  the
• 13:41
  extended
• 13:42
  tail
• 13:42
  off
• 13:42
  the
• 13:42
  back
• 13:43
  right
• 13:43
  on
• 13:43
  the
• 13:43
  mono
• 13:44
  extension.
• 13:45
  So
• 13:45
  they're
• 13:46
  all
• 13:46
  kind
• 13:46
  of
• 13:46
  like
• 13:46
  pieces
• 13:47
  that
• 13:47
  he.
• 13:47
  He
• 13:48
  figured
• 13:48
  out
• 13:48
  for
• 13:49
  different
• 13:49
  purposes.
• 13:50
  And
• 13:50
  then
• 13:52
  when
• 13:52
  he
• 13:52
  saw
• 13:53
  the
• 13:53
  need
• 13:54
  kind
• 13:54
  of
• 13:54
  the.
• 13:56
  The
• 13:56
  opening
• 13:57
  in
• 13:57
  his,
• 13:58
  like
• 13:58
  the
• 13:58
  need
• 13:58
  for
• 13:59
  a
• 13:59
  big
• 13:59
  profiled
• 14:00
  fly,
• 14:02
  he
• 14:02
  put
• 14:03
  them
• 14:03
  together,
• 14:04
  you
• 14:04
  know,
• 14:04
  and
• 14:05
  gave
• 14:05
  it
• 14:05
  a
• 14:05
  go.
• 14:06
  And
• 14:06
  the
• 14:07
  first
• 14:07
  one
• 14:07
  that
• 14:07
  was
• 14:08
  coined
• 14:08
  the
• 14:08
  Beast,
• 14:10
  you
• 14:10
  know,
• 14:10
  was
• 14:11
  very
• 14:11
  successful
• 14:12
  in
• 14:12
  that
• 14:12
  he
• 14:13
  got
• 14:13
  the
• 14:13
  taper,
• 14:14
  he
• 14:14
  got
• 14:14
  the
• 14:15
  size,
• 14:15
  like
• 14:16
  the
• 14:16
  silhouette.
• 14:18
  But
• 14:18
  he
• 14:18
  just
• 14:19
  wasn't
• 14:19
  satisfied
• 14:20
  at
• 14:20
  all
• 14:21
  with
• 14:21
  the
• 14:21
  castability
• 14:22
  of
• 14:22
  it.
• 14:23
  You
• 14:23
  know,
• 14:23
  it
• 14:23
  was
• 14:24
  so
• 14:24
  heavily.
• 14:24
  It
• 14:24
  was
• 14:25
  literally
• 14:25
  like
• 14:25
  an
• 14:26
  entire
• 14:26
  bucktail
• 14:27
  on
• 14:27
  a
• 14:27
  hook,
• 14:28
  you
• 14:28
  know,
• 14:30
  so
• 14:30
  that's
• 14:31
  where
• 14:31
  like
• 14:31
  the
• 14:31
  iterative.
• 14:32
  So
• 14:33
  then
• 14:33
  he
• 14:33
  started
• 14:34
  playing
• 14:34
  around
• 14:35
  with,
• 14:35
  you
• 14:36
  know,
• 14:36
  densities
• 14:37
  and
• 14:38
  kind
• 14:38
  of
• 14:38
  dialing
• 14:39
  that
• 14:39
  in.
• 14:39
  Right.
• 14:40
  And
• 14:40
  depending
• 14:40
  on
• 14:41
  your
• 14:42
  fishery,
• 14:42
  like,
• 14:43
  that's
• 14:43
  where
• 14:43
  you
• 14:43
  can
• 14:45
  kind
• 14:45
  of
• 14:45
  get
• 14:45
  into
• 14:47
  diet,
• 14:48
  you
• 14:48
  know,
• 14:48
  suiting
• 14:49
  it
• 14:49
  for
• 14:49
  your
• 14:49
  own
• 14:49
  needs.
• 14:50
  You
• 14:50
  know,
• 14:50
  muskie
• 14:51
  guys,
• 14:51
  the
• 14:52
  whole
• 14:53
  beast
• 14:53
  fly
• 14:54
  kind
• 14:54
  of
• 14:54
  platform,
• 14:54
  hollow
• 14:56
  or
• 14:56
  reverse
• 14:56
  tide
• 14:57
  platform
• 14:58
  is
• 14:58
  used
• 14:59
  a
• 14:59
  lot
• 15:00
  in
• 15:00
  big
• 15:01
  muskie
• 15:01
  flies.
• 15:02
  Right.
• 15:02
  But
• 15:02
  they're.
• 15:04
  They're
• 15:04
  probably
• 15:04
  five
• 15:05
  times
• 15:05
  heavier
• 15:06
  dress
• 15:06
  than
• 15:07
  anything
• 15:09
  on
• 15:09
  the
• 15:09
  saltwater
• 15:10
  side
• 15:10
  we
• 15:11
  use.
• 15:11
  Right.
• 15:12
  Because
• 15:12
  the
• 15:12
  gear's
• 15:12
  different
• 15:14
  and
• 15:14
  the
• 15:14
  require
• 15:14
  like
• 15:16
  muskie
• 15:17
  trigger
• 15:17
  differently
• 15:18
  and
• 15:18
  are
• 15:18
  feeding
• 15:18
  on
• 15:19
  different
• 15:19
  prey.
• 15:19
  So
• 15:21
  figuring
• 15:21
  that
• 15:22
  out,
• 15:22
  you
• 15:22
  know,
• 15:22
  is
• 15:23
  time
• 15:23
  on
• 15:23
  the
• 15:23
  water.
• 15:25
  Yeah,
• 15:25
  super
• 15:26
  interesting.
• 15:26
  So,
• 15:26
  you
• 15:26
  know,
• 15:27
  obviously,
• 15:27
  you
• 15:27
  know,
• 15:27
  it
• 15:27
  sounds
• 15:28
  like
• 15:28
  he
• 15:28
  kind
• 15:28
  of
• 15:28
  had
• 15:28
  these
• 15:29
  almost
• 15:29
  like
• 15:30
  parts,
• 15:30
  right?
• 15:30
  And
• 15:30
  he
• 15:31
  figured
• 15:31
  out
• 15:31
  a
• 15:31
  new
• 15:31
  way
• 15:31
  to
• 15:31
  put
• 15:31
  them
• 15:32
  together
• 15:32
  to
• 15:32
  solve
• 15:32
  a
• 15:32
  problem.
• 15:33
  But
• 15:33
  you
• 15:34
  know,
• 15:34
  were
• 15:34
  there
• 15:34
  tires
• 15:35
  that
• 15:35
  he
• 15:35
  was
• 15:35
  interacting
• 15:36
  with
• 15:36
  or
• 15:36
  watching
• 15:37
  that
• 15:37
  had
• 15:37
  an
• 15:37
  impact
• 15:38
  on
• 15:38
  the
• 15:38
  design
• 15:38
  of
• 15:38
  the
• 15:38
  beast?
• 15:42
  You
• 15:42
  know,
• 15:42
  I
• 15:42
  think
• 15:43
  so.
• 15:43
  He
• 15:43
  had
• 15:44
  for
• 15:44
  years
• 15:45
  the
• 15:45
  Tuesday
• 15:46
  night
• 15:46
  tying
• 15:46
  sessions
• 15:47
  at
• 15:47
  his
• 15:48
  house.
• 15:48
  I
• 15:49
  think
• 15:49
  a
• 15:49
  lot
• 15:49
  of
• 15:50
  inspiration
• 15:51
  came
• 15:51
  from
• 15:52
  those
• 15:53
  sessions.
• 15:53
  You
• 15:53
  know,
• 15:54
  it's
• 15:54
  like
• 15:54
  that
• 15:55
  one
• 15:55
  on
• 15:55
  one,
• 15:57
  you
• 15:57
  know,
• 15:58
  he,
• 15:58
  he
• 15:58
  had
• 15:58
  this
• 15:58
  big
• 15:59
  round
• 15:59
  table
• 15:59
  in
• 16:00
  his
• 16:00
  tying
• 16:00
  room
• 16:01
  that
• 16:01
  would
• 16:02
  get
• 16:02
  packed
• 16:02
  with
• 16:02
  people
• 16:03
  and
• 16:03
  you
• 16:04
  know,
• 16:04
  different
• 16:04
  tires
• 16:05
  every
• 16:05
  night.
• 16:05
  I
• 16:05
  think
• 16:06
  just
• 16:06
  that
• 16:07
  close
• 16:07
  quarters,
• 16:08
  sharing
• 16:09
  of
• 16:09
  information
• 16:10
  that
• 16:12
  eventually
• 16:13
  got
• 16:13
  too
• 16:14
  big
• 16:14
  and
• 16:15
  moved
• 16:16
  out
• 16:16
  of
• 16:16
  his
• 16:16
  house.
• 16:18
  But
• 16:18
  I
• 16:18
  think
• 16:18
  all
• 16:19
  of
• 16:19
  that
• 16:19
  like,
• 16:19
  you
• 16:20
  know,
• 16:20
  same
• 16:20
  thing
• 16:21
  with
• 16:21
  your
• 16:21
  fishing
• 16:22
  buddies
• 16:22
  when
• 16:23
  you're
• 16:23
  out
• 16:23
  and
• 16:23
  you're
• 16:24
  like
• 16:25
  trying
• 16:25
  to
• 16:25
  crack
• 16:26
  the
• 16:26
  code
• 16:26
  on
• 16:26
  what
• 16:27
  the
• 16:27
  fish
• 16:27
  are
• 16:27
  eating
• 16:28
  and
• 16:28
  you're,
• 16:28
  you're
• 16:29
  just
• 16:29
  kind
• 16:29
  of
• 16:29
  spitballing
• 16:30
  ideas
• 16:30
  back
• 16:30
  and
• 16:31
  forth.
• 16:31
  I
• 16:31
  think
• 16:31
  that
• 16:32
  is
• 16:33
  essentially
• 16:34
  what
• 16:34
  drove
• 16:35
  him.
• 16:35
  There
• 16:36
  weren't
• 16:36
  really
• 16:36
  a
• 16:37
  ton
• 16:37
  of
• 16:37
  people.
• 16:37
  Like
• 16:38
  Lefty
• 16:38
  had
• 16:38
  his
• 16:39
  buck,
• 16:39
  his
• 16:40
  deceiver,
• 16:41
  and
• 16:41
  then
• 16:41
  Bob
• 16:42
  came
• 16:43
  up
• 16:43
  with,
• 16:43
  and
• 16:43
  Lefty
• 16:44
  named
• 16:44
  the
• 16:45
  bucktail
• 16:45
  deceiver.
• 16:48
  But
• 16:48
  there
• 16:48
  really
• 16:48
  was,
• 16:49
  I
• 16:49
  mean
• 16:49
  he
• 16:49
  was
• 16:49
  a
• 16:50
  pioneer
• 16:50
  as
• 16:51
  far
• 16:51
  as
• 16:51
  like
• 16:52
  a
• 16:53
  lot
• 16:53
  of
• 16:54
  these
• 16:54
  methods
• 16:56
  and,
• 16:57
  and,
• 16:58
  and
• 16:59
  patterns
• 16:59
  at
• 16:59
  the
• 16:59
  time.
• 17:00
  You
• 17:00
  know,
• 17:01
  from
• 17:03
  the,
• 17:03
  the
• 17:04
  weird
• 17:04
  kind
• 17:05
  of
• 17:06
  methods
• 17:07
  that
• 17:07
  he
• 17:07
  would
• 17:08
  use
• 17:08
  from
• 17:08
  his
• 17:08
  silicones
• 17:09
  using,
• 17:10
  you
• 17:10
  know,
• 17:11
  GE
• 17:11
  silicone
• 17:12
  from
• 17:12

• 17:14
  You
• 17:15
  know,
• 17:15
  he
• 17:15
  was
• 17:15
  ostracized
• 17:16
  for
• 17:16
  a
• 17:16
  year
• 17:17
  for
• 17:17
  kind
• 17:17
  of
• 17:17
  breaking
• 17:18
  the
• 17:19
  fly
• 17:19
  fishing
• 17:20
  mold.
• 17:20
  You
• 17:20
  know,
• 17:21
  the,
• 17:21
  the
• 17:21
  pretentious
• 17:22
  kind
• 17:22
  of
• 17:23
  this
• 17:23
  is
• 17:23
  how
• 17:23
  we
• 17:24
  do
• 17:24
  it.
• 17:25
  And,
• 17:26
  and,
• 17:27
  but
• 17:27
  he
• 17:27
  did
• 17:27
  it
• 17:28
  because
• 17:29
  he
• 17:29
  wanted
• 17:29
  to
• 17:30
  figure
• 17:30
  it
• 17:30
  out
• 17:30
  for
• 17:30
  himself.
• 17:31
  Like
• 17:31
  that
• 17:31
  was
• 17:31
  the
• 17:32
  end
• 17:32
  goal.
• 17:32
  It
• 17:32
  wasn't
• 17:33
  to
• 17:34
  claim
• 17:34
  he,
• 17:35
  he
• 17:36
  came
• 17:36
  up
• 17:36
  with
• 17:36
  a
• 17:36
  pattern
• 17:37
  that
• 17:37
  was
• 17:37
  better
• 17:38
  than
• 17:38
  everyone
• 17:38
  else.
• 17:39
  It
• 17:39
  was,
• 17:39
  he
• 17:40
  wanted
• 17:40
  to
• 17:40
  figure
• 17:41
  it
• 17:41
  out
• 17:41
  for
• 17:41
  his
• 17:42
  fishery,
• 17:42
  right.
• 17:44
  And,
• 17:45
  and
• 17:46
  people
• 17:47
  saw,
• 17:47
  saw
• 17:48
  the
• 17:49
  efficacy
• 17:49
  of
• 17:50
  them
• 17:50
  right
• 17:51
  in
• 17:51
  action
• 17:52
  and
• 17:52
  they
• 17:53
  eventually
• 17:53
  caught
• 17:54
  on.
• 17:54
  But
• 17:54
  the
• 17:55
  beast,
• 17:55
  fly
• 17:55
  in
• 17:55
  particular,
• 17:56
  like
• 17:57
  in
• 17:57
  his
• 17:57
  book
• 17:58
  Fly
• 17:58
  Design,
• 18:00
  it
• 18:00
  was
• 18:00
  a
• 18:00
  total
• 18:01
  afterthought.
• 18:01
  The
• 18:02
  night
• 18:02
  before
• 18:02
  it
• 18:03
  went
• 18:03
  to
• 18:03
  publishing.
• 18:05
  They
• 18:05
  decided
• 18:06
  to
• 18:07
  take
• 18:07
  the
• 18:07
  photos
• 18:08
  in
• 18:08
  the
• 18:08
  hotel
• 18:09
  room.
• 18:09
  But
• 18:10
  Bob's
• 18:10
  like,
• 18:10
  no
• 18:11
  one's
• 18:11
  going
• 18:11
  to
• 18:11
  want
• 18:11
  to
• 18:11
  do
• 18:12
  this.
• 18:12
  It's
• 18:12
  too
• 18:12
  laborsome.
• 18:13
  And
• 18:14
  now
• 18:14
  look
• 18:14
  at
• 18:14
  how
• 18:15
  big,
• 18:15
  how
• 18:15
  popular
• 18:16
  and,
• 18:16
  and
• 18:18
  how
• 18:18
  effective
• 18:19
  they
• 18:19
  are.
• 18:20
  You
• 18:20
  know,
• 18:20
  it's
• 18:20
  kind
• 18:20
  of
• 18:21
  boomed
• 18:21
  though.
• 18:21
  But
• 18:22
  for
• 18:22
  years
• 18:22
  he's
• 18:22
  like,
• 18:23
  no
• 18:23
  one's
• 18:23
  going
• 18:23
  to
• 18:23
  want
• 18:23
  to
• 18:24
  do
• 18:24
  this.
• 18:24
  I'm
• 18:24
  not
• 18:24
  going
• 18:24
  to
• 18:24
  put
• 18:24
  it
• 18:25
  in
• 18:25
  the
• 18:25
  book.
• 18:25
  And
• 18:26
  I'm
• 18:26
  glad
• 18:26
  they
• 18:26
  did
• 18:27
  because
• 18:27
  it,
• 18:28
  it's,
• 18:29
  it's
• 18:29
  a
• 18:29
  great
• 18:30
  pattern.
• 18:31
  It's
• 18:31
  a
• 18:32
  niche
• 18:32
  Pattern,
• 18:33
  you
• 18:33
  know,
• 18:33
  it's
• 18:34
  not
• 18:34
  like
• 18:35
  you're
• 18:35
  just
• 18:36
  blind
• 18:36
  casting
• 18:36
  it
• 18:37
  everywhere,
• 18:37
  but
• 18:37
  in
• 18:38
  certain
• 18:38
  situations,
• 18:39
  it's
• 18:39
  a
• 18:39
  must,
• 18:39
  you
• 18:40
  know?
• 18:41
  Yeah.
• 18:42
  Very,
• 18:42
  very
• 18:42
  neat.
• 18:42
  And
• 18:42
  so,
• 18:43
  you
• 18:43
  know,
• 18:43
  tell
• 18:43
  me
• 18:43
  a
• 18:43
  little
• 18:43
  bit
• 18:44
  about
• 18:44
  the
• 18:44
  bite
• 18:45
  triggers
• 18:45
  in
• 18:45
  the
• 18:45
  beast.
• 18:47
  So
• 18:47
  I
• 18:47
  think
• 18:48
  the.
• 18:49
  It's
• 18:49
  kind
• 18:49
  of
• 18:49
  the
• 18:49
  completeness
• 18:50
  of
• 18:50
  the
• 18:51
  pattern
• 18:51
  in
• 18:52
  how.
• 18:52
  How
• 18:53
  it's
• 18:53
  tied,
• 18:53
  right.
• 18:54
  Using
• 18:55
  bucktail.
• 18:55
  Bucktail
• 18:56
  is
• 18:56
  such
• 18:56
  a.
• 18:57
  There's
• 18:57
  really
• 18:58
  no
• 18:58
  substitute
• 18:59
  for
• 18:59
  it.
• 19:00
  Not
• 19:00
  to
• 19:00
  say
• 19:00
  that
• 19:01
  you
• 19:01
  can't
• 19:01
  use
• 19:01
  synthetics.
• 19:03
  I
• 19:04
  think
• 19:05
  synthetics,
• 19:05
  especially
• 19:06
  for
• 19:07
  the
• 19:07
  beast,
• 19:08
  can
• 19:09
  be
• 19:09
  used
• 19:09
  to
• 19:09
  extend
• 19:10
  length
• 19:11
  in
• 19:11
  the
• 19:11
  rear.
• 19:11
  You
• 19:12
  know,
• 19:12
  like,
• 19:13
  I
• 19:13
  think
• 19:13
  Bob
• 19:15
  used
• 19:15
  like,
• 19:15
  big
• 19:16
  fly
• 19:16
  fiber
• 19:17
  for
• 19:17
  a
• 19:17
  while.
• 19:18
  Like,
• 19:18
  if
• 19:18
  you.
• 19:18
  If
• 19:19
  you
• 19:19
  can't
• 19:19
  find
• 19:19
  long
• 19:20
  bucktail,
• 19:21
  you
• 19:21
  can
• 19:22
  integrate
• 19:23
  synthetics
• 19:24
  into
• 19:24
  it.
• 19:27
  But
• 19:27
  the
• 19:28
  triggers,
• 19:28
  you
• 19:29
  know,
• 19:29
  the
• 19:29
  beauty
• 19:30
  of
• 19:30
  it
• 19:30
  is
• 19:30
  how
• 19:30
  it
• 19:31
  breathes.
• 19:32
  So
• 19:33
  when
• 19:33
  tied
• 19:34
  sparsely
• 19:34
  enough
• 19:35
  and
• 19:36
  create
• 19:37
  like
• 19:38
  this
• 19:38
  seamless
• 19:39
  taper
• 19:39
  of
• 19:39
  the
• 19:40
  different
• 19:40
  platforms
• 19:41
  one
• 19:41
  over
• 19:41
  the
• 19:42
  next,
• 19:43
  when
• 19:43
  you
• 19:43
  strip
• 19:44
  it
• 19:44
  or
• 19:45
  by
• 19:45
  itself,
• 19:45
  just
• 19:46
  in
• 19:46
  current,
• 19:47
  it
• 19:47
  pulsates,
• 19:48
  right?
• 19:48
  Because
• 19:48
  you
• 19:48
  get
• 19:49
  that
• 19:49
  head
• 19:49
  that's
• 19:50
  denser,
• 19:51
  causing
• 19:51
  that
• 19:52
  hydraulic
• 19:53
  effect
• 19:53
  and
• 19:53
  creating
• 19:54
  every
• 19:54
  one
• 19:54
  of
• 19:54
  the
• 19:54
  tips
• 19:55
  rearward
• 19:56
  to
• 19:56
  move,
• 19:57
  and
• 19:58
  it
• 19:58
  just
• 19:58
  comes
• 19:58
  alive.
• 19:59
  Like,
• 19:59
  it
• 20:00
  looks
• 20:00
  like.
• 20:01
  Like
• 20:02
  I'll
• 20:02
  go
• 20:02
  down
• 20:03
  to
• 20:03
  the
• 20:03
  river
• 20:03
  and
• 20:03
  swim,
• 20:04
  just,
• 20:05
  you
• 20:05
  know,
• 20:06
  dangle
• 20:07
  it
• 20:07
  in
• 20:07
  the
• 20:07
  current.
• 20:07
  And
• 20:07
  I've
• 20:08
  had
• 20:08
  so
• 20:08
  many
• 20:08
  fish
• 20:09
  come
• 20:09
  up
• 20:09
  to
• 20:09
  look
• 20:09
  at
• 20:10
  it.
• 20:11
  I
• 20:11
  even
• 20:11
  got
• 20:11
  a
• 20:11
  couple
• 20:12
  on
• 20:12
  film
• 20:12
  a
• 20:13
  couple
• 20:13
  years
• 20:13
  ago.
• 20:13
  It.
• 20:14
  But
• 20:14
  it
• 20:15
  just
• 20:15
  comes
• 20:15
  alive.
• 20:16
  And,
• 20:16
  you
• 20:16
  know,
• 20:17
  I
• 20:17
  think
• 20:18
  there's
• 20:18
  some
• 20:19
  part
• 20:19
  of
• 20:19
  it
• 20:19
  where,
• 20:20
  you
• 20:20
  know,
• 20:20
  it
• 20:21
  puts
• 20:21
  off
• 20:22
  a
• 20:22
  signature
• 20:23
  similar
• 20:24
  to
• 20:24
  certain
• 20:25
  baits,
• 20:25
  you
• 20:26
  know,
• 20:26
  just
• 20:26
  the
• 20:26
  pulsating
• 20:27
  of
• 20:27
  it.
• 20:30
  But
• 20:31
  you
• 20:31
  can
• 20:31
  also.
• 20:33
  So
• 20:33
  you
• 20:33
  don't
• 20:33
  need
• 20:34
  to
• 20:34
  do
• 20:34
  a
• 20:34
  lot,
• 20:35
  and
• 20:35
  you
• 20:35
  can
• 20:35
  let
• 20:35
  it
• 20:36
  hover.
• 20:36
  Like,
• 20:37
  my
• 20:37
  fishery
• 20:38
  is
• 20:38
  a
• 20:38
  little
• 20:38
  unique
• 20:39
  over.
• 20:41
  Say
• 20:42
  you're
• 20:42
  fishing
• 20:42
  like
• 20:43
  a
• 20:43
  bunker
• 20:43
  school,
• 20:45
  which
• 20:45
  we
• 20:45
  have
• 20:46
  appeared
• 20:46
  to.
• 20:46
  But
• 20:47
  like
• 20:47
  the
• 20:47
  herring
• 20:48
  runs,
• 20:49
  I'm
• 20:50
  fishing
• 20:51
  super
• 20:52
  fast
• 20:53
  flowing
• 20:53
  rivers
• 20:55
  with
• 20:55
  boulders
• 20:56
  and
• 20:57
  rocky
• 20:57
  ledges,
• 20:59
  and
• 20:59
  you're
• 21:00
  throwing
• 21:00
  fast
• 21:01
  sink
• 21:02
  lines
• 21:03
  and
• 21:04
  you're
• 21:04
  trying
• 21:04
  to
• 21:04
  get
• 21:04
  it
• 21:04
  down.
• 21:05
  So
• 21:05
  really
• 21:05
  you
• 21:05
  just
• 21:06
  want
• 21:06
  it
• 21:06
  to
• 21:06
  hover
• 21:06
  in
• 21:07
  that
• 21:07
  sweet
• 21:07
  zone
• 21:08
  to
• 21:08
  get
• 21:08
  ambushed.
• 21:09
  Right.
• 21:11
  So
• 21:12
  whereas
• 21:12
  other
• 21:12
  instances,
• 21:13
  you
• 21:13
  want
• 21:13
  to
• 21:14
  rip
• 21:14
  it
• 21:14
  through,
• 21:14
  you
• 21:15
  know,
• 21:15
  it
• 21:15
  kind
• 21:15
  of
• 21:15
  depends
• 21:16
  on
• 21:16
  the
• 21:16
  behavior
• 21:17
  of
• 21:17
  the
• 21:17
  fish
• 21:17
  or.
• 21:18
  And
• 21:18
  your
• 21:19
  given
• 21:19
  situation.
• 21:20
  But
• 21:21
  getting
• 21:21
  it
• 21:21
  down
• 21:21
  to
• 21:22
  where
• 21:22
  the
• 21:22
  fish
• 21:22
  are
• 21:23
  tends
• 21:23
  to
• 21:23
  be
• 21:24
  a
• 21:24
  big
• 21:24
  one,
• 21:25
  you
• 21:25
  know,
• 21:28
  so
• 21:28
  as
• 21:28
  far
• 21:29
  as
• 21:29
  triggers,
• 21:29
  I
• 21:29
  would
• 21:30
  say,
• 21:30
  like,
• 21:30
  the
• 21:31
  completeness
• 21:31
  of
• 21:32
  it,
• 21:32
  as
• 21:32
  far
• 21:32
  as
• 21:33
  just
• 21:33
  how
• 21:33
  it
• 21:34
  comes
• 21:34
  alive.
• 21:35
  And
• 21:36
  you
• 21:36
  have
• 21:37
  that
• 21:37
  profile
• 21:37
  from
• 21:38
  underneath,
• 21:38
  which
• 21:39
  I
• 21:39
  think
• 21:40
  was
• 21:40
  the
• 21:40
  key
• 21:42
  Bob
• 21:43
  was
• 21:43
  thinking
• 21:43
  of
• 21:44
  when
• 21:44
  you
• 21:44
  had.
• 21:45
  When
• 21:45
  you're
• 21:45
  trying
• 21:45
  to
• 21:46
  imitate
• 21:46
  these
• 21:47
  big,
• 21:48
  you
• 21:48
  know,
• 21:49
  Shad
• 21:49
  bunker
• 21:50
  herring,
• 21:52
  where
• 21:52
  the
• 21:52
  fish
• 21:53
  are
• 21:53
  looking
• 21:53
  from
• 21:54
  below
• 21:54
  and,
• 21:55
  you
• 21:55
  know,
• 21:55
  trying
• 21:56
  to
• 21:56
  ambush
• 21:56
  them.
• 21:58
  You
• 21:58
  get
• 21:59
  that
• 21:59
  perfect
• 21:59
  silhouette.
• 22:00
  Right.
• 22:02
  There
• 22:02
  are
• 22:02
  things
• 22:03
  I
• 22:03
  do
• 22:03
  I
• 22:03
  like.
• 22:04
  There
• 22:04
  are
• 22:04
  things
• 22:04
  you
• 22:04
  can
• 22:05
  do
• 22:05
  to
• 22:05
  your
• 22:05
  tying
• 22:06
  where
• 22:06
  you
• 22:06
  can
• 22:07
  create
• 22:08
  it,
• 22:08
  make
• 22:09
  it
• 22:10
  move
• 22:10
  more
• 22:11
  erratic,
• 22:12
  you
• 22:12
  know,
• 22:15
  but
• 22:15
  it,
• 22:16
  by
• 22:17
  and
• 22:17
  large,
• 22:17
  it's
• 22:17
  more
• 22:18
  just
• 22:18
  a
• 22:19
  fly
• 22:20
  that
• 22:20
  comes
• 22:20
  alive
• 22:21
  when
• 22:21
  you
• 22:21
  move
• 22:21
  it
• 22:22
  rather
• 22:22
  than,
• 22:24
  than
• 22:26
  more
• 22:26
  like
• 22:27
  a
• 22:28
  jerk
• 22:28
  changer,
• 22:28
  let's
• 22:29
  say,
• 22:29
  right,
• 22:29
  that
• 22:30
  you're
• 22:30
  feeding
• 22:31
  on
• 22:31
  that
• 22:32
  erratic
• 22:33
  action
• 22:34
  of
• 22:34
  it
• 22:35
  to
• 22:35
  trigger,
• 22:36
  if
• 22:36
  that
• 22:36
  makes
• 22:37
  sense.
• 22:37
  Yeah,
• 22:38
  absolutely
• 22:38
  does.
• 22:39
  And
• 22:39
  so
• 22:39
  can
• 22:40
  you
• 22:40
  maybe
• 22:40
  walk
• 22:40
  us
• 22:40
  through
• 22:41
  kind
• 22:41
  of
• 22:41
  a.
• 22:42
  I
• 22:42
  don't
• 22:42
  know,
• 22:42
  a
• 22:42
  prototypical
• 22:43
  beast
• 22:43
  maybe
• 22:44
  from
• 22:44
  the
• 22:44
  back
• 22:44
  to
• 22:44
  the
• 22:44
  front.
• 22:45
  And
• 22:45
  you
• 22:45
  know,
• 22:45
  one
• 22:45
  of
• 22:45
  the
• 22:45
  interesting
• 22:46
  things
• 22:46
  I
• 22:46
  think,
• 22:47
  you
• 22:47
  know,
• 22:47
  since
• 22:47
  you
• 22:48
  got
• 22:48
  to
• 22:48
  spend
• 22:48
  time
• 22:48
  with
• 22:48
  Bob
• 22:49
  would
• 22:49
  be
• 22:49
  to
• 22:49
  hear
• 22:49
  materials
• 22:50
  or
• 22:50
  techniques
• 22:51
  or
• 22:51
  things
• 22:51
  that
• 22:51
  he
• 22:51
  changed
• 22:52
  that
• 22:52
  just
• 22:52
  didn't
• 22:53
  really
• 22:53
  kind
• 22:54
  of
• 22:54
  make
• 22:54
  the
• 22:54
  final
• 22:54
  cut.
• 22:57
  Yeah.
• 23:00
  So
• 23:01
  I
• 23:01
  mean
• 23:01
  the,
• 23:03
  towards
• 23:03
  the
• 23:05
  he,
• 23:06
  his
• 23:06
  older
• 23:07
  years,
• 23:08
  he,
• 23:08
  he
• 23:10
  tying
• 23:10
  on
• 23:10
  mono
• 23:11
  is,
• 23:12
  you
• 23:12
  know,
• 23:12
  when
• 23:13
  he
• 23:13
  started
• 23:13
  out,
• 23:13
  he
• 23:14
  was
• 23:14
  tying
• 23:14
  with
• 23:15
  two
• 23:15
  vices,
• 23:16
  right.
• 23:17
  He'd
• 23:17
  have
• 23:17
  80
• 23:18
  pound
• 23:18
  mono
• 23:19
  strung
• 23:19
  between
• 23:19
  two
• 23:20
  vices.
• 23:21
  And
• 23:21
  you'd
• 23:21
  have
• 23:21
  to
• 23:21
  flip
• 23:22
  the
• 23:22
  spool
• 23:23
  or
• 23:23
  the
• 23:23
  bobbin
• 23:24
  over
• 23:24
  this,
• 23:25
  right.
• 23:25
  Imagine
• 23:26
  how
• 23:26
  long
• 23:26
  that
• 23:27
  would
• 23:27
  take.
• 23:29
  And
• 23:30
  so
• 23:31
  it
• 23:31
  got
• 23:31
  to
• 23:31
  the
• 23:31
  point
• 23:32
  where
• 23:32
  you're
• 23:32
  holding
• 23:32
  that
• 23:33
  mono
• 23:33
  in
• 23:33
  hand
• 23:33
  and
• 23:34
  you're
• 23:34
  spinning
• 23:34
  the
• 23:34
  bobbin
• 23:35
  around,
• 23:36
  which
• 23:36
  is
• 23:36
  how
• 23:36
  I
• 23:37
  tie
• 23:37
  most
• 23:37
  of
• 23:37
  mine.
• 23:38
  And
• 23:39
  it's
• 23:39
  much
• 23:39
  quicker.
• 23:42
  And
• 23:43
  you
• 23:43
  know,
• 23:44
  I
• 23:44
  think
• 23:44
  certain
• 23:45
  materials,
• 23:48
  it's.
• 23:48
  You
• 23:48
  kind
• 23:49
  of
• 23:49
  have
• 23:49
  to
• 23:49
  trial
• 23:49
  and
• 23:50
  error
• 23:50
  whether
• 23:50
  you're
• 23:51
  mixing
• 23:51
  synthetics
• 23:52
  or
• 23:53
  just,
• 23:54
  you
• 23:54
  know,
• 23:55
  depending
• 23:56
  on
• 23:56
  naturals
• 23:57
  even.
• 23:57
  But
• 23:58
  having,
• 23:59
  having
• 24:02
  real
• 24:03
  feathers,
• 24:04
  for
• 24:04
  instance,
• 24:05
  if,
• 24:05
  if
• 24:06
  they're
• 24:06
  too
• 24:06
  limp,
• 24:07
  you
• 24:08
  know,
• 24:08
  it
• 24:08
  almost
• 24:09
  lays
• 24:10
  down
• 24:11
  over
• 24:11
  the
• 24:11
  bucktail
• 24:12
  and
• 24:12
  crushes
• 24:13
  like
• 24:13
  the
• 24:13
  profile.
• 24:16
  I
• 24:16
  think
• 24:17
  the
• 24:17
  big
• 24:17
  one
• 24:17
  for
• 24:17
  him
• 24:18
  was
• 24:18
  just
• 24:18
  going
• 24:18
  sparser
• 24:19
  and
• 24:19
  sparser
• 24:20
  and
• 24:20
  letting
• 24:20
  that
• 24:21
  bucktail
• 24:21
  breathe.
• 24:22
  So
• 24:23
  backing
• 24:23
  off
• 24:24
  and
• 24:24
  trusting
• 24:25
  the
• 24:25
  process,
• 24:26
  even
• 24:26
  though
• 24:27
  it
• 24:27
  looks
• 24:27
  kind
• 24:27
  of
• 24:27
  crazy
• 24:28
  at
• 24:28
  the
• 24:28
  vise,
• 24:28
  but
• 24:29
  you
• 24:29
  know,
• 24:29
  keeping
• 24:30
  those
• 24:30
  fibers
• 24:31
  wide
• 24:32
  so
• 24:32
  when
• 24:32
  you
• 24:33
  strip
• 24:34
  kind
• 24:34
  of
• 24:34
  collapses
• 24:35
  down
• 24:35
  on
• 24:35
  itself
• 24:36
  and
• 24:36
  will
• 24:36
  breathe
• 24:37
  a
• 24:37
  little
• 24:37
  more.
• 24:38
  And
• 24:39
  when
• 24:39
  you
• 24:39
  go
• 24:39
  to
• 24:40
  cast
• 24:40
  it,
• 24:40
  you
• 24:40
  know,
• 24:43
  sheds
• 24:44
  that
• 24:44
  water
• 24:44
  quickly
• 24:45
  and,
• 24:45
  and
• 24:45
  is
• 24:45
  more
• 24:46
  aerodynamic
• 24:46
  because
• 24:47
  you're
• 24:47
  using
• 24:47
  such
• 24:48
  little
• 24:48
  material.
• 24:48
  But
• 24:49
  essentially
• 24:49
  you're
• 24:50
  tying
• 24:52
  bucktail
• 24:52
  in
• 24:52
  stages
• 24:53
  on
• 24:54
  this
• 24:54
  mono,
• 24:55
  typically
• 24:56
  like
• 24:56
  half
• 24:56
  inches
• 24:57
  apart.
• 24:59
  So
• 24:59
  like
• 24:59
  the
• 24:59
  first
• 25:00
  tie
• 25:00
  in,
• 25:00
  you
• 25:00
  have
• 25:02
  a
• 25:02
  straight
• 25:02
  tie.
• 25:03
  So
• 25:03
  just
• 25:03
  like
• 25:04
  facing
• 25:04
  rearward,
• 25:05
  you
• 25:05
  can
• 25:05
  add
• 25:05
  hackles,
• 25:07
  you
• 25:07
  can
• 25:07
  add
• 25:08
  ostrich,
• 25:08
  you
• 25:09
  can
• 25:09
  like
• 25:09
  the,
• 25:11
  you
• 25:11
  can
• 25:11
  use
• 25:11
  all
• 25:12
  sorts
• 25:12
  of
• 25:12
  stuff.
• 25:14
  And
• 25:14
  then,
• 25:15
  then
• 25:15
  you
• 25:15
  switch
• 25:16
  to
• 25:16
  the
• 25:16
  reverse
• 25:18
  technique,
• 25:18
  right.
• 25:20
  And
• 25:20
  again,
• 25:21
  half,
• 25:21
  half
• 25:22
  inch
• 25:22
  kind
• 25:22
  of
• 25:23
  increments.
• 25:23
  As
• 25:23
  you
• 25:24
  move
• 25:24
  up.
• 25:24
  And
• 25:24
  the.
• 25:25
  The
• 25:25
  point
• 25:25
  there
• 25:26
  is
• 25:26
  you're
• 25:27
  grabbing
• 25:27
  the
• 25:27
  bucktail
• 25:28
  from
• 25:29
  the
• 25:29
  same
• 25:29
  spot
• 25:30
  on
• 25:30
  the
• 25:30
  tail.
• 25:32
  So
• 25:32
  just
• 25:33
  by
• 25:33
  moving
• 25:33
  up
• 25:34
  the
• 25:34
  mono
• 25:34
  and
• 25:35
  creating
• 25:35
  these
• 25:35
  stages,
• 25:36
  you're
• 25:36
  essentially
• 25:37
  creating
• 25:38
  that
• 25:38
  taper.
• 25:39
  So
• 25:39
  it's
• 25:39
  not
• 25:39
  like
• 25:39
  you.
• 25:40
  You
• 25:40
  have
• 25:40
  to,
• 25:41
  like.
• 25:43
  Really.
• 25:43
  He
• 25:44
  tried
• 25:44
  to
• 25:44
  make
• 25:44
  it
• 25:45
  foolproof
• 25:46
  and
• 25:46
  quick
• 25:47
  by
• 25:48
  being
• 25:48
  able
• 25:48
  to
• 25:48
  just
• 25:49
  move
• 25:49
  up.
• 25:50
  Granted,
• 25:50
  if
• 25:50
  you're
• 25:51
  mixing
• 25:51
  tones,
• 25:52
  like,
• 25:52
  you
• 25:53
  do
• 25:53
  have
• 25:53
  to
• 25:53
  pay
• 25:53
  attention
• 25:54
  to
• 25:54
  that
• 25:54
  a
• 25:54
  little
• 25:54
  more,
• 25:55
  but.
• 25:58
  But
• 25:58
  I
• 25:58
  would
• 25:58
  say,
• 25:58
  like,
• 25:59
  building
• 25:59
  that
• 26:00
  and
• 26:00
  as
• 26:00
  you
• 26:01
  move
• 26:01
  forward.
• 26:01
  So
• 26:01
  normally
• 26:02
  there's
• 26:02
  like
• 26:02
  seven.
• 26:04
  Seven
• 26:04
  or
• 26:05
  eight
• 26:06
  stages
• 26:07
  or
• 26:07
  reversed.
• 26:09
  So,
• 26:09
  like,
• 26:09
  seven
• 26:10
  reverse
• 26:10
  ties
• 26:11
  and
• 26:11
  one
• 26:11
  straight
• 26:11
  off
• 26:12
  the
• 26:12
  back.
• 26:12
  And
• 26:12
  then
• 26:13
  that
• 26:13
  piece
• 26:14
  of
• 26:14
  mono
• 26:14
  with
• 26:15
  the
• 26:15
  bucktail
• 26:16
  gets
• 26:16
  latched
• 26:17
  to
• 26:17
  the
• 26:17
  hook.
• 26:18
  Right.
• 26:19
  And
• 26:19
  then
• 26:19
  you
• 26:19
  build
• 26:20
  the
• 26:20
  head.
• 26:22
  So.
• 26:22
  And
• 26:23
  the
• 26:23
  head
• 26:24
  should
• 26:24
  typically
• 26:25
  be
• 26:26
  denser
• 26:27
  than
• 26:27
  the
• 26:27
  rear,
• 26:29
  and
• 26:30
  that's
• 26:30
  to
• 26:30
  really
• 26:31
  push
• 26:31
  water
• 26:32
  and
• 26:32
  make
• 26:32
  it
• 26:32
  kind
• 26:33
  of
• 26:33
  move
• 26:33
  on
• 26:33
  its
• 26:33
  own.
• 26:36
  I
• 26:36
  don't
• 26:36
  know
• 26:36
  if
• 26:36
  that
• 26:36
  answered
• 26:37
  your
• 26:37
  question.
• 26:38
  Yeah,
• 26:38
  it
• 26:39
  does.
• 26:39
  It's
• 26:39
  super
• 26:39
  helpful.
• 26:40
  And,
• 26:40
  I
• 26:40
  mean,
• 26:40
  we
• 26:40
  talked
• 26:41
  a
• 26:41
  little
• 26:41
  bit,
• 26:41
  too,
• 26:41
  about
• 26:42
  how
• 26:42
  you
• 26:42
  were
• 26:42
  getting
• 26:42
  profiled
• 26:43
  by
• 26:43
  the
• 26:44
  pressure.
• 26:44
  Right.
• 26:45
  When
• 26:45
  you're
• 26:45
  rapping,
• 26:45
  you
• 26:45
  want
• 26:46
  to
• 26:46
  talk
• 26:46
  a
• 26:46
  little
• 26:46
  bit
• 26:46
  about
• 26:46
  that,
• 26:47
  about
• 26:47
  how
• 26:47
  you're
• 26:47
  kind
• 26:47
  of,
• 26:48
  you
• 26:48
  know,
• 26:48
  getting
• 26:48
  it
• 26:49
  from
• 26:49
  not
• 26:49
  being
• 26:49
  squished
• 26:50
  down
• 26:50
  to
• 26:50
  being
• 26:50
  a
• 26:50
  lot
• 26:50
  bigger.
• 26:50
  So
• 26:51
  you
• 26:51
  get
• 26:51
  that
• 26:51
  side
• 26:51
  profile
• 26:52
  on
• 26:52
  the
• 26:52
  fly.
• 26:53
  Yeah.
• 26:54
  So
• 26:54
  there's.
• 26:54
  There's
• 26:55
  most
• 26:56
  of
• 26:56
  the
• 26:56
  baits
• 26:57
  up
• 26:57
  here.
• 26:57
  And
• 26:58
  I
• 26:58
  realize,
• 26:59
  you
• 26:59
  know,
• 26:59
  if
• 27:00
  you're
• 27:00
  not
• 27:00
  in.
• 27:01
  In
• 27:01
  the
• 27:01
  striper
• 27:03
  scene,
• 27:04
  you
• 27:04
  might
• 27:05
  not
• 27:05
  like
• 27:06
  if
• 27:06
  you
• 27:06
  have
• 27:07
  suckers,
• 27:07
  for
• 27:08
  instance.
• 27:08
  Right.
• 27:08
  They're
• 27:08
  more
• 27:09
  of
• 27:09
  a
• 27:09
  round
• 27:09
  bait
• 27:11
  versus
• 27:12
  bunker
• 27:13
  or
• 27:13
  herring.
• 27:14
  They're
• 27:14
  very
• 27:14
  profiled,
• 27:15
  so
• 27:15
  more,
• 27:17
  you
• 27:17
  know,
• 27:17
  broad
• 27:18
  instead
• 27:18
  of
• 27:19
  round.
• 27:20
  And
• 27:20
  so
• 27:20
  there's
• 27:21
  different
• 27:21
  techniques
• 27:22
  when
• 27:22
  you're
• 27:22
  tying
• 27:24
  the
• 27:24
  bucktail
• 27:25
  back.
• 27:25
  So
• 27:25
  part
• 27:26
  of
• 27:26
  it
• 27:26
  is
• 27:27
  kind
• 27:27
  of
• 27:27
  how
• 27:27
  you.
• 27:28
  You
• 27:28
  can
• 27:28
  pinch
• 27:29
  the
• 27:29
  fibers
• 27:30
  in
• 27:30
  hand
• 27:30
  as
• 27:31
  you're
• 27:31
  doing
• 27:31
  the
• 27:32
  last
• 27:32
  wraps
• 27:33
  that
• 27:33
  put
• 27:33
  pressure
• 27:34
  down
• 27:35
  on
• 27:35
  the
• 27:35
  fibers
• 27:36
  to
• 27:36
  the
• 27:36
  angle
• 27:36
  you
• 27:36
  want
• 27:37
  to
• 27:37
  create
• 27:37
  that.
• 27:38
  That
• 27:39
  profile.
• 27:40
  And
• 27:41
  so
• 27:41
  you
• 27:41
  can,
• 27:41
  you
• 27:42
  know,
• 27:42
  squeeze
• 27:42
  on
• 27:42
  the
• 27:43
  sides
• 27:43
  as
• 27:43
  you
• 27:43
  do
• 27:44
  it,
• 27:44
  or
• 27:44
  squeeze,
• 27:45
  like,
• 27:46
  one.
• 27:46
  Your
• 27:47
  one
• 27:47
  finger
• 27:47
  on
• 27:48
  top,
• 27:48
  two
• 27:48
  on
• 27:48
  the
• 27:48
  side
• 27:49
  to
• 27:49
  get,
• 27:49
  like,
• 27:49
  more
• 27:49
  of
• 27:50
  a
• 27:50
  triangular
• 27:52
  head.
• 27:53
  And
• 27:54
  so
• 27:55
  that's.
• 27:55
  That's
• 27:55
  something
• 27:57
  to
• 27:58
  take
• 27:58
  into
• 27:58
  consideration
• 27:59
  the.
• 27:59
  The
• 28:00
  bucktail,
• 28:00
  too.
• 28:01
  I
• 28:01
  mean,
• 28:01
  and
• 28:01
  that's
• 28:02
  something.
• 28:03
  Before
• 28:03
  I.
• 28:04
  Even
• 28:04
  before
• 28:04
  I
• 28:05
  met
• 28:05
  Bob,
• 28:09
  you
• 28:09
  know,
• 28:10
  I
• 28:10
  was.
• 28:11
  I
• 28:11
  didn't
• 28:12
  have
• 28:12
  Bob's
• 28:12
  book,
• 28:13
  and
• 28:13
  I
• 28:14
  had
• 28:14
  a
• 28:14
  buddy
• 28:14
  up
• 28:15
  here
• 28:15
  who
• 28:15
  was
• 28:16
  really
• 28:16
  into
• 28:16
  tying
• 28:17
  hollow
• 28:17
  flies,
• 28:18
  so
• 28:18
  he
• 28:18
  taught
• 28:19
  me
• 28:19
  kind
• 28:19
  of
• 28:19
  the
• 28:19
  basics.
• 28:21
  And
• 28:21
  when
• 28:22
  I
• 28:22
  got
• 28:22
  started,
• 28:22
  everybody's
• 28:23
  like,
• 28:23
  length,
• 28:24
  length,
• 28:24
  length.
• 28:24
  You
• 28:25
  want,
• 28:25
  you
• 28:25
  know,
• 28:25
  the
• 28:26
  end
• 28:26
  all
• 28:26
  be
• 28:26
  all
• 28:27
  is
• 28:27
  the
• 28:27
  bucktail
• 28:27
  that's
• 28:28
  long.
• 28:29
  So
• 28:29
  I
• 28:29
  went
• 28:29
  on
• 28:29
  a
• 28:29
  tear
• 28:30
  trying
• 28:30
  to
• 28:30
  find
• 28:30
  long
• 28:31
  bucktails.
• 28:33
  And
• 28:33
  what
• 28:33
  I
• 28:33
  quickly
• 28:34
  realized
• 28:34
  is
• 28:35
  not
• 28:35
  all
• 28:35
  bucktails
• 28:36
  and
• 28:36
  not
• 28:36
  all
• 28:37
  long
• 28:37
  bucktails
• 28:37
  are
• 28:38
  created
• 28:38
  equal.
• 28:38
  You
• 28:38
  know,
• 28:39
  every.
• 28:39
  And
• 28:40
  it's
• 28:40
  part
• 28:40
  of
• 28:40
  what
• 28:40
  I
• 28:41
  love
• 28:41
  about
• 28:41
  them
• 28:42
  is
• 28:42
  how
• 28:43
  the.
• 28:44
  The
• 28:44
  texture
• 28:45
  and
• 28:45
  the
• 28:46
  characteristics
• 28:47
  of
• 28:47
  each
• 28:48
  tail
• 28:49
  really
• 28:49
  behave
• 28:50
  quite
• 28:50
  a.
• 28:51
  Just
• 28:52
  quite
• 28:53
  a
• 28:53
  bit
• 28:53
  differently
• 28:54
  when
• 28:54
  you
• 28:54
  tie
• 28:54
  flies
• 28:55
  with
• 28:55
  them.
• 28:56
  So
• 28:56
  I
• 28:56
  spent
• 28:56
  two
• 28:57
  years,
• 28:57
  like,
• 28:58
  tying
• 28:58
  with
• 28:59
  any
• 28:59
  bucktail
• 28:59
  I
• 29:00
  could
• 29:00
  get
• 29:00
  my
• 29:00
  hands
• 29:01
  on
• 29:01
  to
• 29:02
  learn
• 29:03
  which
• 29:05
  a
• 29:05
  lot
• 29:05
  of
• 29:05
  them
• 29:06
  are
• 29:06
  a
• 29:06
  pain
• 29:06
  in
• 29:06
  the
• 29:06
  butt.
• 29:07
  Right.
• 29:09
  Just
• 29:09
  because
• 29:10
  they
• 29:10
  flare
• 29:11
  or
• 29:11
  they're.
• 29:12
  But
• 29:13
  each
• 29:13
  one
• 29:13
  kind
• 29:14
  of
• 29:14
  serves
• 29:14
  its
• 29:14
  own
• 29:15
  purpose.
• 29:16
  So
• 29:17
  I
• 29:17
  tell
• 29:18
  students
• 29:18
  when
• 29:18
  I'm
• 29:19
  teaching
• 29:19
  it,
• 29:19
  like,
• 29:20
  the
• 29:20
  easiest
• 29:20
  ones
• 29:21
  to
• 29:21
  manipulate
• 29:22
  when
• 29:22
  you're
• 29:22
  learning
• 29:23
  are
• 29:23
  like
• 29:23
  the
• 29:23
  soft
• 29:24
  kind
• 29:24
  of
• 29:24
  wavy,
• 29:25
  fine
• 29:26
  fibers.
• 29:27
  But
• 29:27
  for
• 29:28
  hollow
• 29:28
  flies
• 29:29
  or
• 29:29
  big
• 29:29
  pro,
• 29:30
  big
• 29:30
  profiled
• 29:31
  flies,
• 29:32
  they're
• 29:32
  not
• 29:33
  gonna
• 29:33
  really
• 29:33
  hold
• 29:34
  that.
• 29:35
  That
• 29:35
  profile
• 29:37
  because
• 29:37
  they're
• 29:37
  soft.
• 29:38
  Right.
• 29:38
  So
• 29:40
  finding
• 29:41
  and
• 29:41
  learning,
• 29:42
  just
• 29:43
  a
• 29:43
  lot
• 29:43
  of
• 29:43
  that
• 29:43
  comes
• 29:44
  through
• 29:44
  trial
• 29:44
  and
• 29:44
  error.
• 29:45
  Right.
• 29:45
  And
• 29:45
  even
• 29:46
  on
• 29:46
  the
• 29:46
  tail
• 29:46
  itself,
• 29:47
  like,
• 29:48
  the
• 29:48
  base
• 29:48
  flares
• 29:49
  more
• 29:51
  versus
• 29:52
  as
• 29:52
  you
• 29:52
  move
• 29:52
  up
• 29:53
  the
• 29:53
  tail,
• 29:53
  but
• 29:54
  no
• 29:54
  learning,
• 29:55
  learning
• 29:56
  where
• 29:56
  to
• 29:56
  pull
• 29:56
  from
• 29:57
  on
• 29:57
  it
• 29:57
  and
• 29:58
  what
• 29:58
  type
• 29:59
  of
• 29:59
  tail
• 29:59
  to
• 30:00
  run.
• 30:01
  You
• 30:01
  know,
• 30:01
  that.
• 30:02
  That's
• 30:02
  just.
• 30:03
  And
• 30:04
  I
• 30:04
  think
• 30:04
  some
• 30:04
  people
• 30:05
  get
• 30:05
  frustrated
• 30:06
  because
• 30:08
  it
• 30:08
  is
• 30:08
  complicated
• 30:09
  because
• 30:10
  there's
• 30:10
  so
• 30:11
  many
• 30:11
  variations
• 30:12
  in
• 30:12
  bucktail
• 30:13
  to
• 30:14
  do
• 30:14
  this
• 30:15
  synthetic
• 30:16
  is
• 30:16
  much
• 30:16
  easier
• 30:16
  because
• 30:17
  you
• 30:17
  buy
• 30:17
  a
• 30:17
  package
• 30:18
  and
• 30:18
  it's
• 30:18
  the
• 30:18
  same
• 30:18
  as
• 30:19
  the
• 30:19
  previous
• 30:19
  package.
• 30:20
  Right.
• 30:21
  But
• 30:22
  there's
• 30:23
  no
• 30:23
  synthetic
• 30:24
  that
• 30:24
  has
• 30:24
  a
• 30:25
  natural
• 30:25
  taper
• 30:25
  like
• 30:26
  bucktail.
• 30:28
  So.
• 30:29
  Yeah.
• 30:30
  Neat.
• 30:30
  And
• 30:30
  so,
• 30:30
  you
• 30:30
  know,
• 30:30
  to
• 30:31
  help
• 30:31
  people.
• 30:31
  And
• 30:31
  I
• 30:31
  know
• 30:31
  it's,
• 30:32
  you
• 30:32
  know,
• 30:32
  you
• 30:32
  know,
• 30:33
  when
• 30:33
  you
• 30:33
  say
• 30:33
  sparse,
• 30:33
  it's
• 30:34
  always
• 30:34
  interesting
• 30:34
  to
• 30:34
  me
• 30:34
  because
• 30:35
  when
• 30:35
  you
• 30:35
  see
• 30:35
  the
• 30:35
  side
• 30:36
  profile
• 30:36
  of
• 30:36
  these
• 30:37
  beasts,
• 30:37
  they
• 30:37
  almost
• 30:38
  look
• 30:38
  like
• 30:38
  a
• 30:38
  kid
• 30:39
  drew
• 30:39
  a
• 30:39
  Christmas
• 30:39
  tree.
• 30:39
  Right.
• 30:40
  They're
• 30:40
  very
• 30:40
  skeletal.
• 30:41
  Yep.
• 30:42
  But,
• 30:43
  you
• 30:43
  know,
• 30:43
  to
• 30:43
  help
• 30:43
  people
• 30:44
  and
• 30:44
  however
• 30:44
  you
• 30:44
  want
• 30:45
  to
• 30:45
  kind
• 30:45
  of
• 30:45
  help
• 30:45
  them
• 30:45
  with
• 30:45
  proportions.
• 30:46
  Like,
• 30:47
  you
• 30:47
  know,
• 30:47
  some
• 30:47
  people
• 30:48
  like
• 30:48
  talking
• 30:48
  about
• 30:49
  pencils,
• 30:49
  Some
• 30:49
  people
• 30:49
  hate
• 30:50
  talking
• 30:50
  about
• 30:50
  pencils.
• 30:51
  But
• 30:51
  can
• 30:51
  you
• 30:51
  kind
• 30:51
  of
• 30:52
  give
• 30:52
  some
• 30:52
  tips
• 30:52
  as
• 30:52
  you
• 30:52
  kind
• 30:53
  of
• 30:53
  move
• 30:53
  from
• 30:53
  back
• 30:53
  to
• 30:54
  front
• 30:54
  to
• 30:54
  kind
• 30:55
  of
• 30:55
  help
• 30:55
  people,
• 30:56
  you
• 30:56
  know,
• 30:56
  get
• 30:56
  the
• 30:57
  amount
• 30:57
  of
• 30:58
  material
• 30:58
  correct?
• 30:59
  Yeah,
• 31:00
  I
• 31:01
  don't
• 31:01
  like
• 31:01
  pencils.
• 31:01
  They're
• 31:02
  too
• 31:02
  thick.
• 31:04
  I
• 31:04
  end
• 31:04
  up.
• 31:05
  I
• 31:05
  like
• 31:06
  matchsticks
• 31:07
  because
• 31:07
  I'm
• 31:07
  a
• 31:07
  pyro.
• 31:08
  Just
• 31:09
  kidding.
• 31:10
  But,
• 31:12
  yeah.
• 31:13
  So,
• 31:13
  you
• 31:14
  know,
• 31:14
  it
• 31:14
  depends
• 31:14
  on
• 31:15
  what
• 31:15
  bait
• 31:15
  you're
• 31:15
  trying
• 31:16
  to
• 31:16
  mimic.
• 31:17
  My
• 31:17
  big
• 31:17
  thing
• 31:18
  that
• 31:18
  I've
• 31:18
  gone
• 31:18
  back
• 31:19
  to
• 31:20
  repeatedly
• 31:21
  is
• 31:22
  functionality.
• 31:23
  Right.
• 31:23
  You
• 31:24
  want
• 31:24
  it
• 31:24
  to.
• 31:25
  To.
• 31:25
  To
• 31:25
  imitate
• 31:26
  the
• 31:26
  bait,
• 31:27
  but
• 31:27
  you
• 31:27
  also
• 31:28
  want
• 31:28
  to
• 31:28
  be
• 31:28
  able
• 31:28
  to
• 31:28
  cast
• 31:29
  the
• 31:29
  thing.
• 31:29
  Right.
• 31:30
  If
• 31:31
  you
• 31:31
  can't
• 31:31
  cast
• 31:32
  it
• 31:32
  out.
• 31:32
  Whether
• 31:33
  you're
• 31:33
  trying
• 31:34
  to
• 31:34
  cover
• 31:34
  water
• 31:34
  around
• 31:35
  bait
• 31:37
  then,
• 31:39
  then
• 31:40
  it's
• 31:40
  not
• 31:40
  serving
• 31:41
  its
• 31:41
  purpose.
• 31:41
  Right.
• 31:42
  So
• 31:42
  making
• 31:43
  sure
• 31:43
  it's
• 31:43
  sparse
• 31:44
  enough
• 31:44
  that
• 31:45
  you
• 31:45
  can
• 31:45
  cast
• 31:45
  it
• 31:46
  without,
• 31:47
  you
• 31:47
  know,
• 31:47
  tearing
• 31:48
  a
• 31:48
  rotator
• 31:49
  cuff,
• 31:50
  I
• 31:52
  end
• 31:52
  up
• 31:52
  going
• 31:52
  pretty
• 31:53
  sparse.
• 31:54
  So
• 31:54
  like
• 31:54
  on
• 31:55
  the
• 31:55
  extension,
• 31:56
  you
• 31:56
  know,
• 31:58
  each
• 31:58
  one
• 31:59
  of
• 31:59
  the
• 31:59
  platforms
• 32:00
  that
• 32:00
  you're
• 32:00
  doing,
• 32:01
  I
• 32:02
  typically
• 32:02
  use
• 32:03
  like
• 32:03
  a
• 32:03
  matchstick
• 32:04
  worth
• 32:06
  like
• 32:07
  not
• 32:08
  much.
• 32:09
  Right.
• 32:09
  Because
• 32:10
  it's
• 32:10
  cumulative.
• 32:12
  So
• 32:12
  each
• 32:12
  one
• 32:13
  of
• 32:13
  those
• 32:13
  stages
• 32:14
  or,
• 32:15
  or
• 32:15
  reverse
• 32:16
  ties
• 32:16
  are
• 32:17
  going
• 32:17
  to
• 32:17
  lay
• 32:17
  over
• 32:18
  the
• 32:18
  previous.
• 32:19
  Right.
• 32:20
  And
• 32:20
  then
• 32:22
  once
• 32:23
  you
• 32:23
  get
• 32:23
  to
• 32:23
  the
• 32:23
  head
• 32:24
  of
• 32:24
  it,
• 32:25
  that's
• 32:26
  where
• 32:26
  I
• 32:26
  start
• 32:27
  doubling
• 32:27
  down
• 32:28
  and
• 32:29
  increasing
• 32:29
  that
• 32:30
  mass
• 32:30
  right
• 32:31
  where,
• 32:32
  where
• 32:33
  you
• 32:33
  want
• 32:33
  it
• 32:33
  to
• 32:34
  be.
• 32:34
  And,
• 32:34
  and
• 32:35
  the
• 32:35
  extension
• 32:35
  I'll
• 32:36
  pinch
• 32:36
  a
• 32:36
  lot
• 32:37
  of
• 32:37
  times
• 32:37
  like
• 32:38
  so
• 32:39
  that
• 32:39
  it's
• 32:40
  flat
• 32:41
  so
• 32:41
  profiled
• 32:42
  vertically
• 32:43
  so
• 32:43
  you
• 32:44
  get
• 32:44
  more
• 32:44
  height
• 32:44
  than
• 32:45
  width.
• 32:46
  And
• 32:46
  then
• 32:46
  the
• 32:46
  head,
• 32:47
  I
• 32:47
  don't
• 32:48
  pinch
• 32:48
  as
• 32:48
  much.
• 32:49
  Almost
• 32:50
  like
• 32:50
  the,
• 32:50
  the
• 32:51
  three
• 32:51
  finger
• 32:51
  pinch
• 32:51
  where
• 32:52
  you're
• 32:52
  going
• 32:52
  triangle.
• 32:53
  If
• 32:53
  you
• 32:53
  look
• 32:53
  at
• 32:53
  like
• 32:53
  bunker,
• 32:54
  they're
• 32:54
  very
• 32:54
  triangular
• 32:55
  head
• 32:55
  on
• 32:58
  but
• 32:58
  building
• 32:58
  that
• 32:59
  head
• 32:59
  to
• 32:59
  push
• 33:00
  water.
• 33:00
  And
• 33:00
  a
• 33:01
  lot
• 33:01
  of
• 33:01
  the
• 33:01
  fibers
• 33:01
  in
• 33:02
  the
• 33:02
  head
• 33:02
  section
• 33:03
  overlap
• 33:03
  the
• 33:04
  rear
• 33:04
  so
• 33:04
  it
• 33:05
  doesn't
• 33:05
  end
• 33:05
  up
• 33:06
  being
• 33:07
  as
• 33:07
  narrow
• 33:09
  as
• 33:10
  the,
• 33:11
  the
• 33:11
  tail
• 33:11
  section
• 33:12
  looked
• 33:12
  on
• 33:12
  its
• 33:13
  own
• 33:14
  because
• 33:14
  it
• 33:14
  fills
• 33:15
  in
• 33:15
  by
• 33:16
  with
• 33:16
  the
• 33:16
  head
• 33:17
  section.
• 33:19
  Got
• 33:19
  it.
• 33:19
  And
• 33:20
  you
• 33:20
  know,
• 33:20
  you
• 33:20
  talked
• 33:20
  about
• 33:21
  synthetics
• 33:21
  being
• 33:22
  helpful
• 33:22
  for
• 33:22
  length.
• 33:23
  Are
• 33:23
  there
• 33:23
  times
• 33:24
  when
• 33:24
  you
• 33:24
  like
• 33:24
  synthetics
• 33:25
  for
• 33:26
  like
• 33:26
  maybe
• 33:26
  getting
• 33:27
  a
• 33:27
  different
• 33:27
  water
• 33:28
  flow
• 33:28
  through
• 33:29
  and
• 33:29
  around
• 33:29
  the
• 33:30
  fly?
• 33:31
  Yeah.
• 33:32
  So
• 33:34
  I,
• 33:34
  I,
• 33:35
  in
• 33:35
  between
• 33:36
  collars,
• 33:37
  for
• 33:37
  instance,
• 33:38
  I'll
• 33:39
  use,
• 33:39
  you
• 33:39
  know,
• 33:39
  you
• 33:40
  can
• 33:40
  use
• 33:40
  different
• 33:40
  brushes
• 33:41
  as
• 33:42
  far
• 33:42
  as
• 33:43
  natural
• 33:43
  like
• 33:44
  fox
• 33:45
  or
• 33:46
  marabou
• 33:48
  to
• 33:48
  add
• 33:48
  a
• 33:48
  little.
• 33:49
  So
• 33:49
  it
• 33:49
  helps
• 33:49
  with
• 33:50
  the
• 33:50
  density
• 33:50
  but
• 33:51
  also
• 33:51
  it
• 33:51
  helps
• 33:52
  to
• 33:52
  push
• 33:53
  more
• 33:53
  water.
• 33:55
  So
• 33:56
  you
• 33:56
  can
• 33:56
  definitely
• 33:56
  do,
• 33:57
  you
• 33:58
  know,
• 33:58
  play
• 33:58
  around
• 33:58
  with
• 33:59
  adding
• 34:00
  different
• 34:01
  synthetics
• 34:01
  in
• 34:02
  there.
• 34:03
  What
• 34:03
  ends
• 34:03
  up
• 34:04
  happening
• 34:04
  and
• 34:04
  you
• 34:05
  need
• 34:05
  to
• 34:05
  be
• 34:06
  a
• 34:06
  little
• 34:07
  cognizant.
• 34:08
  That
• 34:08
  I've
• 34:09
  found
• 34:09
  happens
• 34:10
  to
• 34:10
  me
• 34:10
  is
• 34:11
  you
• 34:11
  know,
• 34:13
  you
• 34:13
  mix
• 34:14
  fibers
• 34:15
  in
• 34:16
  whether,
• 34:16
  even
• 34:16
  if
• 34:17
  it's
• 34:17
  flash,
• 34:18
  the,
• 34:19
  if
• 34:19
  you
• 34:20
  use
• 34:20
  like
• 34:20
  saltwater
• 34:21
  angel
• 34:21
  hair
• 34:22
  for
• 34:22
  instance,
• 34:22
  versus
• 34:23
  the
• 34:23
  natural
• 34:24
  angel
• 34:24
  hair,
• 34:25
  it's
• 34:25
  more
• 34:26
  durable.
• 34:26
  But
• 34:27
  the,
• 34:27
  the
• 34:28
  thickness
• 34:29
  of
• 34:29
  it
• 34:29
  is
• 34:30
  like
• 34:30
  two
• 34:30
  to
• 34:30
  three
• 34:31
  times
• 34:31
  the
• 34:31
  thickness
• 34:32
  of
• 34:32
  the
• 34:33
  bucktail
• 34:34
  and
• 34:35
  it
• 34:35
  ends
• 34:35
  up
• 34:35
  separating.
• 34:36
  Right.
• 34:36
  And
• 34:36
  the
• 34:36
  same
• 34:37
  is
• 34:37
  true
• 34:37
  with
• 34:38
  synthetics
• 34:39
  kind
• 34:40
  of
• 34:40
  trying
• 34:40
  to
• 34:40
  match
• 34:41
  the,
• 34:42
  the
• 34:42
  fibers
• 34:43
  density
• 34:43
  and
• 34:44
  coarseness
• 34:45
  as
• 34:46
  well
• 34:46
  as
• 34:46
  you,
• 34:47
  you're
• 34:47
  trying
• 34:47
  to
• 34:48
  build
• 34:48
  this
• 34:48
  3D
• 34:49
  profiled
• 34:50
  fly
• 34:51
  and
• 34:51
  suddenly
• 34:52
  if
• 34:52
  you
• 34:52
  tie.
• 34:53
  In.
• 34:55
  Synthetic
• 34:56
  material
• 34:57
  that
• 34:57
  isn't
• 34:58
  hollow,
• 34:58
  that's
• 34:59
  laying
• 34:59
  on
• 34:59
  top
• 35:00
  of
• 35:00
  it,
• 35:00
  it,
• 35:00
  it's
• 35:01
  going
• 35:01
  to
• 35:01
  crush
• 35:02
  the
• 35:02
  work
• 35:02
  you
• 35:03
  just
• 35:03
  did
• 35:04
  previously.
• 35:05
  If
• 35:06
  so
• 35:06
  like
• 35:07
  similarly
• 35:08
  like
• 35:08
  the
• 35:08
  eyes
• 35:09
  if
• 35:09
  you
• 35:09
  want
• 35:09
  to
• 35:09
  add
• 35:10
  eyes,
• 35:10
  it
• 35:11
  never
• 35:11
  makes
• 35:11
  sense
• 35:12
  to
• 35:12
  me
• 35:12
  to
• 35:12
  like
• 35:13
  glue
• 35:13
  them
• 35:13
  on
• 35:13
  and
• 35:14
  squeeze
• 35:14
  the
• 35:15
  eyes
• 35:15
  on
• 35:16
  after
• 35:17
  creating
• 35:17
  like
• 35:18
  a
• 35:18
  round
• 35:18
  or
• 35:18
  broad
• 35:19
  head.
• 35:19
  So,
• 35:20
  like
• 35:20
  the
• 35:20
  tab
• 35:20
  eyes
• 35:21
  tend
• 35:21
  to
• 35:21
  be
• 35:22
  nice
• 35:22
  because
• 35:23
  they
• 35:23
  flex
• 35:24
  out.
• 35:24
  So
• 35:24
  you
• 35:25
  still
• 35:25
  get
• 35:25
  the
• 35:25
  best
• 35:25
  of
• 35:26
  both
• 35:26
  worlds
• 35:27
  in
• 35:27
  that
• 35:27
  instance.
• 35:29
  That
• 35:29
  whole
• 35:29
  eye
• 35:30
  thing
• 35:30
  is
• 35:30
  a
• 35:30
  whole
• 35:30
  nother
• 35:30
  story,
• 35:31
  but.
• 35:34
  Fair
• 35:34
  enough,
• 35:36
  you
• 35:36
  know,
• 35:36
  can
• 35:37
  you
• 35:37
  maybe
• 35:37
  share
• 35:37
  with
• 35:37
  folks?
• 35:38
  You
• 35:38
  know,
• 35:38
  obviously
• 35:39
  you're,
• 35:39
  you're
• 35:39
  matching
• 35:40
  the
• 35:40
  hatch
• 35:40
  in
• 35:40
  a
• 35:40
  different
• 35:41
  way,
• 35:41
  but
• 35:41
  do
• 35:41
  you
• 35:41
  have
• 35:41
  some,
• 35:42
  maybe
• 35:42
  some
• 35:42
  favorite
• 35:43
  kind
• 35:43
  of
• 35:44
  length
• 35:44
  kind
• 35:45
  of
• 35:45
  material
• 35:46
  and
• 35:46
  hook
• 35:46
  combinations
• 35:47
  you
• 35:47
  can
• 35:47
  share
• 35:47
  with
• 35:47
  folks
• 35:48
  for
• 35:48
  different
• 35:48
  forage
• 35:49
  species
• 35:49
  that
• 35:50
  might
• 35:50
  be
• 35:50
  helpful.
• 35:52
  Yeah,
• 35:53
  well,
• 35:53
  I
• 35:53
  mean,
• 35:54
  even,
• 35:55
  even
• 35:55
  same
• 35:55
  forage
• 35:56
  species,
• 35:57
  forage
• 35:58
  species,
• 36:00
  like
• 36:00
  depending
• 36:01
  on
• 36:01
  where
• 36:02
  you're
• 36:02
  fishing
• 36:02
  them.
• 36:03
  So,
• 36:04
  you
• 36:05
  know,
• 36:05
  Bob's,
• 36:06
  with
• 36:06
  Bob's
• 36:06
  hands
• 36:07
  and
• 36:08
  what
• 36:08
  he
• 36:09
  encouraged,
• 36:09
  like
• 36:10
  new
• 36:10
  tires
• 36:10
  to
• 36:11
  try
• 36:11
  tying
• 36:12
  the
• 36:12
  beast
• 36:13
  rather
• 36:13
  than
• 36:13
  on
• 36:13
  a
• 36:14
  mono
• 36:14
  extension
• 36:15
  to
• 36:15
  use
• 36:16
  like
• 36:17
  chocolate
• 36:17
  shanks.
• 36:20
  But
• 36:21
  they're,
• 36:21
  they're.
• 36:22
  So
• 36:22
  they're
• 36:22
  easier
• 36:22
  to
• 36:23
  tie,
• 36:23
  but
• 36:23
  they
• 36:23
  also
• 36:24
  do
• 36:24
  a
• 36:24
  great
• 36:25
  job
• 36:25
  at
• 36:26
  adding
• 36:26
  some
• 36:26
  weight
• 36:28
  to
• 36:28
  get
• 36:28
  the
• 36:29
  fly
• 36:29
  down.
• 36:29
  So
• 36:30
  if
• 36:30
  you're
• 36:30
  fishing
• 36:30
  fast
• 36:31
  current
• 36:32
  rips,
• 36:33
  you
• 36:33
  know,
• 36:34
  and
• 36:34
  herring
• 36:35
  are
• 36:35
  getting
• 36:35
  pushed
• 36:36
  out
• 36:36
  of
• 36:36
  the
• 36:36
  river,
• 36:37
  for
• 36:37
  instance,
• 36:38
  and
• 36:38
  you
• 36:38
  want
• 36:38
  to
• 36:38
  get
• 36:39
  down.
• 36:39
  Sure,
• 36:39
  you're
• 36:39
  throwing
• 36:40
  it
• 36:40
  on
• 36:40
  a
• 36:40
  fast
• 36:41
  sync
• 36:41
  line
• 36:42
  and
• 36:43
  a
• 36:43
  shorter
• 36:43
  leader,
• 36:44
  but
• 36:44
  the
• 36:45
  fly
• 36:45
  itself
• 36:46
  has,
• 36:47
  you
• 36:47
  know,
• 36:48
  neutrally
• 36:49
  buoyant,
• 36:49
  buoyant
• 36:50
  bucktail
• 36:51
  and
• 36:51
  stuff
• 36:51
  on
• 36:52
  it,
• 36:53
  which
• 36:54
  the
• 36:54
  line
• 36:54
  will
• 36:55
  pull
• 36:55
  down,
• 36:55
  but
• 36:56
  it
• 36:56
  oftentimes
• 36:58
  having
• 36:58
  the
• 36:58
  shanked
• 36:59
  version
• 36:59
  will
• 37:00
  get
• 37:00
  down
• 37:00
  quicker.
• 37:01
  Right.
• 37:02
  Which
• 37:02
  means
• 37:02
  you're
• 37:02
  in
• 37:03
  that
• 37:03
  strike
• 37:03
  zone
• 37:04
  longer
• 37:04
  a
• 37:04
  lot
• 37:04
  of
• 37:04
  times.
• 37:05
  So
• 37:06
  kind
• 37:06
  of
• 37:06
  weighing
• 37:06
  that
• 37:07
  option
• 37:07
  too,
• 37:07
  as
• 37:08
  you're
• 37:08
  depending
• 37:09
  where
• 37:09
  you're
• 37:09
  fishing,
• 37:10
  having
• 37:10
  a
• 37:10
  different
• 37:11
  tool
• 37:11
  in
• 37:11
  your
• 37:11
  toolbox.
• 37:12
  Right.
• 37:16
  So
• 37:16
  I
• 37:16
  keep
• 37:16
  that
• 37:16
  in
• 37:16
  mind.
• 37:18
  Is.
• 37:18
  And
• 37:19
  then,
• 37:19
  you
• 37:19
  know,
• 37:20
  sometimes,
• 37:20
  like,
• 37:21
  I
• 37:21
  had
• 37:22
  one
• 37:22
  really
• 37:22
  interesting
• 37:23
  learning
• 37:24
  experience
• 37:24
  when
• 37:25
  I
• 37:25
  was
• 37:25
  down
• 37:25
  on
• 37:25
  the
• 37:25
  Cape
• 37:26
  last
• 37:26
  month.
• 37:28
  I've
• 37:29
  never
• 37:29
  had
• 37:29
  issues
• 37:30
  of
• 37:32
  short
• 37:32
  strikes
• 37:33
  fishing
• 37:33
  for
• 37:34
  stripers
• 37:34
  with
• 37:34
  beast
• 37:35
  flies.
• 37:36
  I
• 37:36
  never,
• 37:37
  like,
• 37:37
  I've,
• 37:37
  I've
• 37:38
  never
• 37:38
  experienced
• 37:39
  that.
• 37:40
  But
• 37:40
  when
• 37:40
  I
• 37:40
  was
• 37:40
  down
• 37:41
  on
• 37:41
  the
• 37:41
  Cape,
• 37:42
  we
• 37:42
  had
• 37:43
  this
• 37:43
  incredible
• 37:44
  kind
• 37:44
  of
• 37:46
  pogie
• 37:46
  menhaden
• 37:47
  feed
• 37:48
  going
• 37:48
  on
• 37:48
  in
• 37:49
  super
• 37:49
  shallow
• 37:50
  water.
• 37:51
  Big
• 37:52
  stripers
• 37:53
  up
• 37:53
  to
• 37:53
  like
• 37:53
  50
• 37:53
  pounds
• 37:54
  were
• 37:54
  pushing
• 37:55
  the
• 37:55
  bait
• 37:55
  up
• 37:55
  on
• 37:56
  the
• 37:56
  beaches
• 37:56
  and
• 37:56
  rocks.
• 37:57
  They
• 37:57
  were
• 37:57
  killing
• 37:58
  themselves
• 37:58
  to
• 37:58
  not
• 37:58
  get
• 37:59
  eaten.
• 37:59
  Right.
• 38:00
  And
• 38:01
  I
• 38:01
  was
• 38:01
  throwing
• 38:01
  beast
• 38:02
  flies
• 38:02
  at
• 38:02
  them.
• 38:04
  And
• 38:05
  I,
• 38:05
  I
• 38:05
  think
• 38:06
  because
• 38:06
  they
• 38:07
  were
• 38:07
  in
• 38:07
  such
• 38:07
  shallow
• 38:08
  water,
• 38:08
  in
• 38:08
  such
• 38:09
  kind
• 38:10
  of
• 38:10
  high
• 38:11
  stake
• 38:13
  kind
• 38:13
  of
• 38:14
  situation,
• 38:15
  they
• 38:15
  kept
• 38:17
  t
• 38:17
  boning
• 38:17
  them.
• 38:18
  So
• 38:18
  I,
• 38:19
  I
• 38:19
  kept
• 38:19
  hooking
• 38:20
  these
• 38:21
  monster
• 38:21
  fish
• 38:22
  and
• 38:22
  they'd
• 38:23
  rip
• 38:23
  line,
• 38:24
  like
• 38:24
  3
• 38:24
  or
• 38:24
  4ft
• 38:25
  of
• 38:25
  line
• 38:25
  out
• 38:25
  of
• 38:25
  my
• 38:25
  hand
• 38:26
  and
• 38:26
  then
• 38:26
  it
• 38:26
  come
• 38:27
  Unbuttoned.
• 38:28
  Because
• 38:29
  what
• 38:29
  they
• 38:29
  were
• 38:29
  doing
• 38:30
  was
• 38:30
  they
• 38:30
  were
• 38:30
  stunning
• 38:31
  the
• 38:31
  bait.
• 38:32
  Right.
• 38:32
  They
• 38:32
  weren't
• 38:32
  just
• 38:33
  inhaling
• 38:33
  them,
• 38:33
  which
• 38:34
  I've
• 38:34
  always
• 38:34
  experienced.
• 38:35
  Normally
• 38:35
  they
• 38:36
  come
• 38:36
  up
• 38:36
  and
• 38:36
  just
• 38:37
  inhale
• 38:37
  the
• 38:37
  fly,
• 38:38
  these
• 38:38
  big
• 38:38
  fish.
• 38:39
  Right.
• 38:40
  Whereas
• 38:40
  on,
• 38:40
  in
• 38:41
  this
• 38:41
  situation,
• 38:41
  they
• 38:42
  were
• 38:42
  literally
• 38:43
  just
• 38:43
  hitting
• 38:44
  em
• 38:44
  as
• 38:44
  hard
• 38:45
  as
• 38:45
  they
• 38:45
  could.
• 38:46
  Um,
• 38:47
  so
• 38:48
  the
• 38:48
  version
• 38:49
  that
• 38:49
  I've
• 38:50
  tied
• 38:50
  in
• 38:50
  the
• 38:50
  past
• 38:50
  where
• 38:51
  you
• 38:51
  have
• 38:51
  a
• 38:52
  shank
• 38:52
  or
• 38:52
  two
• 38:52
  in
• 38:53
  front
• 38:53
  and
• 38:53
  then
• 38:53
  a
• 38:54
  hook
• 38:54
  kind
• 38:54
  of
• 38:54
  off
• 38:55
  the
• 38:55
  rear,
• 38:56
  that
• 38:57
  would
• 38:57
  have
• 38:57
  fixed
• 38:57
  it.
• 38:57
  I
• 38:58
  did
• 38:58
  not
• 38:58
  have
• 38:58
  any
• 38:58
  on
• 38:59
  hand.
• 38:59
  So
• 38:59
  that's,
• 39:00
  that
• 39:00
  was
• 39:01
  a
• 39:01
  learning
• 39:02
  experience
• 39:03
  to
• 39:03
  throw
• 39:04
  one
• 39:04
  in
• 39:04
  the
• 39:04
  box
• 39:04
  next
• 39:05
  time.
• 39:08
  Yeah.
• 39:08
  Very,
• 39:08
  very
• 39:08
  neat.
• 39:09
  Are
• 39:09
  there
• 39:09
  any
• 39:09
  other,
• 39:10
  you
• 39:10
  know,
• 39:10
  the
• 39:10
  beast
• 39:10
  fly
• 39:11
  was
• 39:11
  around.
• 39:11
  It
• 39:11
  been
• 39:12
  around
• 39:12
  for
• 39:12
  a
• 39:12
  while
• 39:13
  like
• 39:13
  some
• 39:14
  of
• 39:14
  the
• 39:14
  other
• 39:14
  streamers
• 39:14
  we've
• 39:15
  talked
• 39:15
  about
• 39:15
  on
• 39:15
  the
• 39:15
  butcher
• 39:15
  shop.
• 39:16
  Are
• 39:16
  there
• 39:16
  other
• 39:17
  refinements
• 39:17
  that
• 39:18
  Bob
• 39:18
  made
• 39:18
  over
• 39:18
  his
• 39:19
  lifetime
• 39:19
  you
• 39:19
  want
• 39:19
  to
• 39:19
  share
• 39:19
  with
• 39:19
  folks?
• 39:21
  Well,
• 39:21
  I
• 39:22
  think,
• 39:22
  you
• 39:22
  know,
• 39:22
  that
• 39:24
  the
• 39:26
  progression,
• 39:27
  you
• 39:27
  know,
• 39:28
  the
• 39:28
  initial
• 39:28
  like
• 39:29
  bunker
• 39:30
  on
• 39:31
  mono
• 39:32
  attempt
• 39:32
  that
• 39:32
  he
• 39:33
  did
• 39:33
  back
• 39:33
  in
• 39:33
  the
• 39:33
  70s,
• 39:34
  you
• 39:35
  know,
• 39:35
  then
• 39:35
  sat
• 39:36
  until
• 39:37
  I
• 39:38
  think
• 39:38
  the
• 39:39
  early
• 39:39
  2000s
• 39:40
  or
• 39:41
  20,
• 39:42
  somewhere
• 39:43
  around
• 39:43
  then
• 39:43
  when
• 39:44
  the
• 39:44
  beast
• 39:45
  kind
• 39:45
  of
• 39:45
  came
• 39:45
  to
• 39:46
  be.
• 39:46
  But
• 39:46
  he
• 39:47
  was
• 39:47
  developing
• 39:49
  extended
• 39:49
  body
• 39:50
  squid
• 39:51
  flies
• 39:51
  and
• 39:52
  extended
• 39:52
  body
• 39:53
  deceivers
• 39:54
  and
• 39:55
  you
• 39:55
  know,
• 39:55
  big
• 39:55
  hollow
• 39:56
  flies.
• 39:56
  And
• 39:56
  it
• 39:57
  kind
• 39:57
  of,
• 39:57
  it
• 39:57
  was
• 39:58
  that
• 39:58
  progression
• 39:59
  of
• 39:59
  putting
• 40:00
  all
• 40:00
  of
• 40:00
  these,
• 40:01
  these
• 40:02
  tools
• 40:02
  that
• 40:02
  he
• 40:03
  was
• 40:03
  learning
• 40:03
  about
• 40:04
  natural
• 40:04
  materials
• 40:05
  together
• 40:07
  to
• 40:08
  accomplish
• 40:09
  the
• 40:09
  goal.
• 40:09
  Right.
• 40:10
  That
• 40:10
  he
• 40:10
  was
• 40:10
  after.
• 40:14
  I
• 40:14
  think,
• 40:16
  I
• 40:17
  think
• 40:17
  there's
• 40:17
  still
• 40:17
  room
• 40:18
  to,
• 40:19
  to
• 40:20
  keep
• 40:20
  pushing
• 40:20
  this
• 40:21
  depending
• 40:21
  on
• 40:21
  your
• 40:22
  fishery.
• 40:22
  You
• 40:22
  know,
• 40:23
  that's,
• 40:23
  that's,
• 40:23
  that's
• 40:25
  one
• 40:25
  thing
• 40:25
  I
• 40:25
  love
• 40:26
  about
• 40:27
  like
• 40:27
  visiting
• 40:27
  different
• 40:28
  fisheries
• 40:28
  up
• 40:28
  and
• 40:29
  down
• 40:29
  the
• 40:29
  coast
• 40:30
  and
• 40:30
  just
• 40:30
  seeing,
• 40:31
  you
• 40:31
  know,
• 40:31
  whether
• 40:32
  you're
• 40:32
  fishing
• 40:32
  boulder
• 40:33
  fields
• 40:33
  or
• 40:33
  you're
• 40:33
  fishing
• 40:34
  rivers
• 40:34
  or
• 40:35
  you're
• 40:35
  fishing,
• 40:36
  you
• 40:36
  know,
• 40:37
  deep
• 40:37
  drop
• 40:38
  offs.
• 40:38
  Like
• 40:40
  you
• 40:40
  can
• 40:40
  adjust
• 40:41
  your
• 40:41
  pattern,
• 40:42
  you
• 40:42
  can
• 40:42
  adjust
• 40:43
  the,
• 40:47
  even
• 40:47
  the
• 40:47
  materials
• 40:48
  you're
• 40:48
  using
• 40:49
  to
• 40:49
  get,
• 40:49
  get
• 40:50
  it
• 40:50
  down
• 40:50
  quicker.
• 40:51
  You
• 40:51
  can
• 40:51
  add
• 40:51
  weight,
• 40:52
  you
• 40:52
  can,
• 40:52
  you
• 40:52
  can,
• 40:53
  you
• 40:53
  know,
• 40:53
  change
• 40:54
  it
• 40:54
  so
• 40:54
  that
• 40:55
  you
• 40:55
  can
• 40:55
  cast
• 40:55
  it
• 40:56
  further
• 40:57
  on
• 40:57
  a
• 40:58
  lighter
• 40:58
  rod.
• 40:58
  Like
• 40:59
  it's,
• 40:59
  it's
• 40:59
  all
• 41:00
  tweakable
• 41:01
  and
• 41:01
  it
• 41:01
  just
• 41:02
  requires
• 41:03
  time
• 41:04
  and
• 41:04
  testing
• 41:05
  and
• 41:05
  trying
• 41:05
  stuff
• 41:06
  out.
• 41:06
  Right.
• 41:07
  And
• 41:08
  you
• 41:08
  know,
• 41:09
  that
• 41:09
  I
• 41:09
  think
• 41:09
  all
• 41:10
  the
• 41:10
  foundational
• 41:11
  elements
• 41:11
  are
• 41:12
  Bob
• 41:13
  has
• 41:13
  shared
• 41:13
  gracefully
• 41:14
  with
• 41:14
  all
• 41:14
  of
• 41:14
  us
• 41:15
  in
• 41:15
  fly
• 41:16
  design,
• 41:16
  you
• 41:16
  know,
• 41:17
  and
• 41:20
  yeah,
• 41:21
  my
• 41:22
  ADD
• 41:22
  and
• 41:23
  lack
• 41:23
  of
• 41:23
  sleep
• 41:23
  kicked
• 41:24
  in,
• 41:24
  so
• 41:24
  I,
• 41:24
  I
• 41:24
  don't
• 41:25
  remember
• 41:25
  what
• 41:25
  you
• 41:25
  asked.
• 41:26
  So,
• 41:26
  no,
• 41:26
  it's
• 41:27
  all
• 41:27
  good.
• 41:27
  I
• 41:27
  think
• 41:27
  we
• 41:27
  kind
• 41:27
  of
• 41:28
  got
• 41:28
  it
• 41:28
  and
• 41:28
  you
• 41:28
  know,
• 41:29
  you
• 41:29
  know,
• 41:29
  yeah,
• 41:30
  it's
• 41:31
  all
• 41:31
  good
• 41:32
  and
• 41:33
  no,
• 41:33
  it's
• 41:34
  kind
• 41:34
  of
• 41:34
  funny,
• 41:34
  you
• 41:34
  know,
• 41:34
  for
• 41:35
  folks
• 41:35
  that
• 41:35
  have
• 41:35
  listened
• 41:35
  to
• 41:35
  some
• 41:35
  of
• 41:35
  the
• 41:35
  butcher
• 41:36
  shops,
• 41:36
  had
• 41:37
  a
• 41:37
  similar
• 41:37
  Thing
• 41:37
  with
• 41:37
  Tommy
• 41:38
  lynch.
• 41:38
  And
• 41:38
  I
• 41:38
  told
• 41:38
  him
• 41:38
  it
• 41:39
  was
• 41:39
  okay
• 41:39
  to.
• 41:40
  To
• 41:40
  repack
• 41:41
  a
• 41:41
  Zen
• 41:41
  and
• 41:42
  some
• 41:42
  more
• 41:42
  Copenhagen.
• 41:43
  So
• 41:46
  the.
• 41:46
  I
• 41:46
  think
• 41:46
  I
• 41:46
  even
• 41:47
  told
• 41:47
  him,
• 41:47
  he
• 41:47
  goes,
• 41:47
  I
• 41:47
  think.
• 41:47
  I
• 41:47
  can't.
• 41:48
  I
• 41:48
  think
• 41:48
  he
• 41:49
  maybe
• 41:49
  had
• 41:49
  a
• 41:49
  monster.
• 41:49
  Yeah,
• 41:50
  it
• 41:50
  was
• 41:50
  a
• 41:50
  monster.
• 41:50
  It
• 41:51
  wasn't
• 41:51
  Mountain
• 41:51
  Dew.
• 41:51
  But
• 41:51
  yeah,
• 41:52
  it's.
• 41:52
  It's.
• 41:53
  Dude,
• 41:53
  it's
• 41:53
  all
• 41:53
  good.
• 41:54
  And
• 41:55
  you
• 41:55
  know,
• 41:55
  I've
• 41:55
  been
• 41:55
  up
• 41:56
  early,
• 41:56
  but
• 41:56
  I
• 41:56
  haven't
• 41:56
  been
• 41:56
  up
• 41:56
  since
• 41:57
  three
• 41:57
  something
• 41:57
  this
• 41:57
  morning.
• 41:58
  So
• 41:59
  you're
• 41:59
  totally
• 41:59
  cool.
• 42:00
  You
• 42:00
  know,
• 42:00
  when
• 42:00
  you
• 42:01
  teach
• 42:01
  the
• 42:01
  pattern,
• 42:01
  you
• 42:02
  know,
• 42:02
  what
• 42:02
  are
• 42:02
  some
• 42:02
  common
• 42:03
  mistakes
• 42:03
  that
• 42:03
  you
• 42:03
  see
• 42:04
  tires
• 42:04
  make
• 42:04
  that
• 42:05
  you
• 42:05
  can
• 42:05
  kind
• 42:05
  of,
• 42:05
  you
• 42:05
  know,
• 42:06
  give
• 42:06
  them
• 42:06
  some
• 42:06
  advice
• 42:06
  and
• 42:07
  help
• 42:07
  them
• 42:07
  have
• 42:07
  a
• 42:07
  less
• 42:08
  frustrating
• 42:08
  time
• 42:08
  as
• 42:08
  they
• 42:09
  kind
• 42:09
  of
• 42:09
  learn
• 42:09
  to
• 42:09
  fly?
• 42:11
  Yeah,
• 42:13
  I
• 42:13
  think,
• 42:15
  I
• 42:15
  think
• 42:17
  choosing
• 42:18
  the
• 42:18
  right
• 42:18
  bucktail
• 42:20
  and
• 42:21
  then
• 42:22
  doing
• 42:22
  it,
• 42:23
  like,
• 42:24
  don't
• 42:24
  jump
• 42:25
  into
• 42:25
  tying
• 42:26
  a
• 42:26
  monster.
• 42:27
  Trying
• 42:27
  to
• 42:27
  tie
• 42:27
  a
• 42:28
  big
• 42:28
  monster
• 42:29
  beast,
• 42:29
  right.
• 42:31
  Break
• 42:31
  it
• 42:31
  down
• 42:32
  so
• 42:32
  that
• 42:32
  you're
• 42:32
  tying.
• 42:33
  Like
• 42:33
  learn
• 42:34
  to
• 42:34
  tie
• 42:34
  a
• 42:34
  hollow
• 42:35
  fly.
• 42:36
  Learn
• 42:36
  to
• 42:36
  tie
• 42:37
  a
• 42:37
  bulkhead
• 42:37
  fly.
• 42:38
  You
• 42:39
  know,
• 42:39
  learn.
• 42:40
  Learn
• 42:40
  to
• 42:41
  tie
• 42:41
  a
• 42:41
  3D
• 42:42
  deceiver
• 42:42
  or
• 42:43
  a
• 42:43
  3D
• 42:43
  bunker.
• 42:44
  Where
• 42:46
  all
• 42:46
  of
• 42:47
  the
• 42:47
  principles
• 42:47
  are
• 42:48
  that
• 42:49
  he
• 42:50
  kind
• 42:50
  of
• 42:50
  came
• 42:51
  up
• 42:51
  with
• 42:51
  were
• 42:52
  to
• 42:52
  build
• 42:54
  bulk
• 42:55
  and
• 42:55
  taper
• 42:57
  into
• 42:57
  these
• 42:58
  patterns.
• 42:59
  And
• 42:59
  it.
• 43:00
  By
• 43:00
  learning
• 43:00
  those
• 43:01
  skills,
• 43:02
  you
• 43:02
  can
• 43:02
  kind
• 43:02
  of
• 43:02
  pick
• 43:03
  and
• 43:03
  choose
• 43:03
  depending
• 43:04
  what
• 43:04
  you're
• 43:04
  trying
• 43:05
  to
• 43:05
  achieve
• 43:06
  as
• 43:06
  far
• 43:06
  as
• 43:07
  your
• 43:07
  profile.
• 43:08
  Right.
• 43:08
  So
• 43:09
  once
• 43:10
  you
• 43:10
  master
• 43:11
  the
• 43:11
  hollow
• 43:11
  technique.
• 43:12
  Right.
• 43:13
  Then
• 43:14
  maybe
• 43:15
  grab
• 43:15
  some
• 43:16
  shanks
• 43:17
  and
• 43:17
  try
• 43:18
  tying
• 43:18
  a
• 43:18
  beast
• 43:19
  on
• 43:19
  that
• 43:19
  first.
• 43:20
  Right.
• 43:20
  And
• 43:21
  when
• 43:22
  you
• 43:22
  think
• 43:22
  it's.
• 43:23
  You
• 43:24
  have
• 43:25
  sparse
• 43:25
  enough
• 43:25
  material
• 43:26
  to
• 43:26
  tie
• 43:27
  down
• 43:28
  half
• 43:29
  it,
• 43:29
  you
• 43:30
  know,
• 43:30
  and
• 43:30
  go
• 43:31
  super
• 43:31
  sparse.
• 43:33
  It's,
• 43:34
  it's.
• 43:34
  It
• 43:35
  adds
• 43:35
  up
• 43:36
  with
• 43:36
  the
• 43:36
  different
• 43:37
  steps,
• 43:38
  you
• 43:38
  know,
• 43:38
  but.
• 43:38
  But
• 43:39
  kind
• 43:39
  of
• 43:39
  those
• 43:39
  baby.
• 43:40
  Learn
• 43:40
  those
• 43:40
  foundation
• 43:41
  skills
• 43:42
  before
• 43:43
  trying
• 43:43
  to
• 43:44
  jump
• 43:44
  into
• 43:44
  it.
• 43:45
  I
• 43:45
  think
• 43:45
  that's
• 43:45
  where
• 43:46
  the
• 43:46
  frustration
• 43:46
  comes,
• 43:47
  is
• 43:47
  like
• 43:48
  trying
• 43:48
  to
• 43:48
  learn
• 43:49
  to
• 43:49
  tie
• 43:50
  on
• 43:50
  mono
• 43:51
  in
• 43:51
  hand.
• 43:52
  Yeah.
• 43:53
  It
• 43:53
  takes
• 43:53
  a
• 43:54
  ton
• 43:54
  of
• 43:54
  practice.
• 43:55
  Right.
• 43:55
  And
• 43:55
  it's
• 43:56
  frustrating
• 43:57
  if
• 43:57
  you've
• 43:57
  never
• 43:58
  tied.
• 43:59
  Done
• 43:59
  a
• 43:59
  hollow
• 43:59
  tie
• 44:00
  before.
• 44:00
  Right.
• 44:01
  But
• 44:01
  if
• 44:01
  you
• 44:01
  master
• 44:02
  those
• 44:02
  skills
• 44:03
  first,
• 44:03
  then
• 44:04
  it's
• 44:04
  like,
• 44:04
  okay,
• 44:05
  now
• 44:05
  I
• 44:06
  can
• 44:07
  add
• 44:08
  one
• 44:08
  more
• 44:08
  skill
• 44:09
  to
• 44:09
  it.
• 44:09
  Right.
• 44:10
  Make
• 44:10
  it
• 44:10
  a
• 44:10
  little
• 44:10
  more
• 44:11
  complex
• 44:11
  because
• 44:12
  it
• 44:12
  saves
• 44:12
  time
• 44:12
  that
• 44:13
  way.
• 44:13
  Right.
• 44:14
  But
• 44:15
  kind
• 44:15
  of
• 44:16
  be
• 44:16
  patient
• 44:17
  and,
• 44:18
  and
• 44:18
  put
• 44:19
  those
• 44:19
  reps
• 44:19
  in.
• 44:21
  Got
• 44:22
  it.
• 44:22
  And
• 44:22
  so,
• 44:22
  you
• 44:22
  know,
• 44:22
  obviously
• 44:23
  this.
• 44:24
  One
• 44:24
  of
• 44:24
  the
• 44:24
  secret
• 44:24
  sauces
• 44:25
  is
• 44:25
  the.
• 44:25
  Is
• 44:26
  the
• 44:26
  deer
• 44:26
  here.
• 44:27
  And
• 44:28
  yeah,
• 44:28
  you
• 44:28
  know,
• 44:28
  so,
• 44:29
  you
• 44:30
  know,
• 44:30
  don't
• 44:30
  burn
• 44:31
  your
• 44:31
  personal
• 44:31
  source.
• 44:32
  But
• 44:32
  are
• 44:32
  there
• 44:32
  places
• 44:33
  that
• 44:33
  people
• 44:33
  can
• 44:34
  go
• 44:34
  to
• 44:34
  where
• 44:34
  they're
• 44:35
  going
• 44:35
  to
• 44:35
  have
• 44:35
  a
• 44:35
  chance
• 44:35
  of,
• 44:36
  you
• 44:36
  know,
• 44:36
  because
• 44:37
  you
• 44:37
  can't
• 44:37
  always,
• 44:38
  you
• 44:38
  know,
• 44:38
  handle
• 44:39
  natural
• 44:40
  stuff
• 44:40
  before
• 44:40
  you
• 44:40
  buy
• 44:40
  it.
• 44:41
  Or
• 44:41
  some
• 44:41
  places
• 44:41
  you
• 44:41
  can
• 44:42
  suggest
• 44:42
  people
• 44:43
  go
• 44:43
  to
• 44:43
  buy
• 44:45
  bucktails
• 44:46
  to,
• 44:46
  you
• 44:46
  know,
• 44:47
  say,
• 44:47
  hey
• 44:47
  there.
• 44:47
  Go
• 44:48
  call
• 44:48
  and
• 44:48
  say,
• 44:48
  hey,
• 44:49
  I'm
• 44:49
  tying
• 44:49
  beast
• 44:49
  flies.
• 44:50
  And
• 44:50
  they're
• 44:50
  like,
• 44:50
  dude,
• 44:50
  we
• 44:50
  know
• 44:50
  exactly
• 44:51
  what
• 44:51
  you
• 44:51
  need
• 44:51
  or
• 44:51
  something
• 44:52
  close
• 44:52
  to
• 44:52
  what
• 44:52
  you
• 44:52
  need,
• 44:52
  and
• 44:53
  they
• 44:53
  send
• 44:53
  it
• 44:53
  to
• 44:53
  you.
• 44:54
  Yeah,
• 44:55
  I
• 44:55
  mean,
• 44:56
  I.
• 44:56
  There's
• 44:57
  no
• 44:57
  substitute
• 44:57
  for
• 44:59
  handling
• 45:00
  them
• 45:00
  and,
• 45:00
  and
• 45:01
  feeling
• 45:01
  them
• 45:01
  before
• 45:02
  buying
• 45:02
  them.
• 45:02
  So,
• 45:03
  you
• 45:03
  know,
• 45:03
  I,
• 45:03
  I
• 45:04
  check
• 45:04
  out
• 45:04
  all
• 45:04
  the
• 45:05
  local
• 45:05
  shops
• 45:05
  and
• 45:06
  even
• 45:06
  big
• 45:06
  box
• 45:07
  stores
• 45:07
  and,
• 45:08
  you
• 45:08
  know,
• 45:09
  every
• 45:09
  once
• 45:09
  in
• 45:09
  a
• 45:09
  while
• 45:09
  you
• 45:10
  find
• 45:10
  a
• 45:10
  golden
• 45:11
  one.
• 45:12
  But
• 45:13
  for
• 45:14
  those
• 45:14
  that
• 45:14
  don't
• 45:14
  have
• 45:15
  access
• 45:15
  to
• 45:15
  that,
• 45:15
  you
• 45:16
  know,
• 45:16
  there's
• 45:16
  a
• 45:16
  couple
• 45:17
  other
• 45:17
  sources
• 45:17
  on
• 45:18
  through
• 45:18
  social
• 45:19
  media
• 45:19
  that
• 45:21
  they.
• 45:21
  Their
• 45:22
  tires
• 45:23
  and
• 45:23
  kind
• 45:24
  of
• 45:24
  know
• 45:24
  what
• 45:24
  you're
• 45:25
  looking
• 45:25
  for.
• 45:26
  So
• 45:26
  Brad
• 45:27
  Buzzy
• 45:27
  is
• 45:27
  a
• 45:27
  great
• 45:28
  one.
• 45:28
  He's
• 45:28
  at
• 45:29
  all
• 45:29
  the
• 45:29
  fly
• 45:29
  fishing
• 45:30
  shows.
• 45:31
  Ellis
• 45:32
  Ward,
• 45:32
  he's.
• 45:33
  He's
• 45:33
  got,
• 45:34
  he
• 45:35
  ties
• 45:35
  a
• 45:35
  lot
• 45:35
  of
• 45:36
  fl.
• 45:36
  He's
• 45:36
  a
• 45:36
  talented
• 45:37
  tire
• 45:38
  and
• 45:38
  knows
• 45:38
  his
• 45:38
  stuff.
• 45:39
  So
• 45:39
  if
• 45:39
  you
• 45:39
  contact
• 45:40
  him,
• 45:41
  Midwest
• 45:41
  bucktails
• 45:42
  are
• 45:42
  another
• 45:42
  good
• 45:43
  one.
• 45:44
  But
• 45:45
  yeah,
• 45:45
  if
• 45:45
  you.
• 45:47
  I
• 45:47
  feel
• 45:47
  like
• 45:48
  in
• 45:48
  the
• 45:48
  Northeast
• 45:48
  we're
• 45:49
  using,
• 45:49
  well,
• 45:49
  I
• 45:50
  guess
• 45:50
  the
• 45:50
  Midwest
• 45:50
  with
• 45:51
  the
• 45:51
  whole
• 45:51
  muskie
• 45:51
  scene
• 45:52
  too.
• 45:52
  There's
• 45:52
  a
• 45:52
  lot
• 45:52
  of
• 45:54
  knowledgeable
• 45:54
  people.
• 45:55
  So
• 45:56
  check
• 45:56
  in
• 45:56
  with
• 45:56
  your
• 45:57
  local
• 45:57
  shop
• 45:58
  too.
• 46:00
  But
• 46:00
  yeah,
• 46:01
  it's,
• 46:01
  it's
• 46:02
  hard.
• 46:02
  I,
• 46:03
  I
• 46:03
  try
• 46:04
  not
• 46:04
  to
• 46:05
  buy
• 46:06
  blind
• 46:08
  unless,
• 46:09
  like,
• 46:09
  I
• 46:09
  know
• 46:10
  that
• 46:10
  the
• 46:10
  person
• 46:11
  that
• 46:11
  you're
• 46:11
  getting
• 46:11
  it
• 46:12
  from
• 46:12
  ties
• 46:13
  flies
• 46:13
  and
• 46:14
  kind
• 46:14
  of
• 46:14
  knows
• 46:14
  what
• 46:15
  you're
• 46:15
  going
• 46:15
  for.
• 46:15
  Because
• 46:16
  I've
• 46:16
  lost
• 46:16
  a
• 46:16
  lot
• 46:16
  of
• 46:17
  money
• 46:17
  where
• 46:17
  you're
• 46:17
  like
• 46:19
  being
• 46:19
  promised
• 46:20
  something
• 46:20
  nice
• 46:20
  and
• 46:22
  you
• 46:22
  get
• 46:22
  it
• 46:22
  and
• 46:23
  you're
• 46:23
  like,
• 46:23
  I
• 46:24
  could
• 46:24
  have
• 46:24
  gotten
• 46:24
  that
• 46:25
  for
• 46:26
  half
• 46:26
  the
• 46:27
  price
• 46:27
  down
• 46:27
  the
• 46:27
  road.
• 46:28
  So,
• 46:30
  yeah,
• 46:30
  we
• 46:30
  don't
• 46:30
  want
• 46:30
  to
• 46:30
  do
• 46:31
  that,
• 46:31
  do
• 46:31
  we?
• 46:31
  No.
• 46:32
  I
• 46:32
  mean,
• 46:33
  it's
• 46:33
  always
• 46:33
  a
• 46:33
  gamble.
• 46:34
  Right.
• 46:34
  Because
• 46:34
  it's
• 46:35
  natural
• 46:35
  material.
• 46:36
  But
• 46:37
  yeah,
• 46:37
  try
• 46:38
  to
• 46:38
  stick
• 46:38
  with
• 46:38
  people
• 46:38
  that,
• 46:39
  that
• 46:40
  actually
• 46:40
  tie.
• 46:41
  It's
• 46:41
  such
• 46:41
  a
• 46:42
  helpful
• 46:43
  because
• 46:43
  you're.
• 46:44
  If
• 46:44
  you're
• 46:45
  dealing
• 46:45
  with
• 46:45
  a
• 46:45
  tire
• 46:46
  and
• 46:46
  not
• 46:46
  just
• 46:47
  a
• 46:47
  processor,
• 46:47
  you're
• 46:48
  able
• 46:48
  to
• 46:48
  explain
• 46:49
  what
• 46:49
  your
• 46:49
  plan
• 46:50
  is
• 46:50
  for
• 46:50
  it
• 46:50
  and
• 46:51
  they
• 46:51
  can
• 46:51
  kind
• 46:51
  of
• 46:52
  educate
• 46:52
  and
• 46:53
  pick
• 46:53
  good
• 46:53
  ones
• 46:54
  for
• 46:54
  you.
• 46:54
  Yeah,
• 46:55
  absolutely.
• 46:55
  And,
• 46:56
  you
• 46:56
  know,
• 46:56
  we
• 46:56
  talked
• 46:56
  before
• 46:57
  we
• 46:57
  started
• 46:57
  recording.
• 46:58
  I
• 46:58
  think
• 46:58
  we
• 46:58
  may
• 46:58
  have
• 46:58
  even
• 46:59
  done
• 46:59
  this
• 46:59
  by
• 46:59
  text
• 47:00
  or
• 47:00
  email.
• 47:01
  You
• 47:01
  know,
• 47:01
  that
• 47:01
  kind
• 47:02
  of.
• 47:02
  Some
• 47:03
  of
• 47:03
  your
• 47:03
  contribution
• 47:04
  to
• 47:04
  the
• 47:04
  beast
• 47:04
  fly
• 47:05
  is
• 47:05
  that,
• 47:05
  you
• 47:05
  know,
• 47:07
  people
• 47:07
  don't
• 47:07
  understand
• 47:08
  how
• 47:08
  much
• 47:08
  you
• 47:09
  have
• 47:09
  to
• 47:09
  tweak
• 47:09
  it
• 47:09
  for
• 47:10
  what
• 47:10
  you're
• 47:10
  fishing
• 47:11
  for
• 47:11
  where
• 47:11
  you
• 47:12
  are.
• 47:12
  Right.
• 47:13
  And
• 47:13
  we've
• 47:14
  kind
• 47:14
  of
• 47:14
  talked
• 47:14
  about
• 47:14
  that
• 47:15
  kind
• 47:15
  of
• 47:15
  obliquely,
• 47:15
  kind
• 47:16
  of
• 47:16
  throughout
• 47:16
  the
• 47:16
  interview.
• 47:16
  But
• 47:17
  do
• 47:17
  you
• 47:17
  want
• 47:17
  to
• 47:17
  kind
• 47:17
  of
• 47:18
  sum
• 47:18
  that
• 47:18
  up
• 47:19
  for
• 47:19
  people
• 47:19
  and
• 47:19
  kind
• 47:19
  of
• 47:19
  give
• 47:19
  them
• 47:20
  a
• 47:20
  feel
• 47:20
  for
• 47:20
  what
• 47:20
  you're
• 47:20
  talking
• 47:21
  about?
• 47:22
  Yeah,
• 47:22
  I
• 47:23
  mean,
• 47:23
  I
• 47:23
  think
• 47:23
  it's
• 47:23
  just,
• 47:24
  it's.
• 47:25
  It
• 47:25
  kind
• 47:25
  of
• 47:25
  goes
• 47:26
  across
• 47:26
  the
• 47:26
  board
• 47:27
  as
• 47:27
  far
• 47:27
  as
• 47:28
  fly
• 47:28
  tying,
• 47:29
  right?
• 47:29
  It's.
• 47:30
  You
• 47:30
  can
• 47:30
  read
• 47:31
  a
• 47:31
  recipe
• 47:31
  in
• 47:31
  a
• 47:32
  book
• 47:32
  and
• 47:32
  Bob
• 47:32
  did
• 47:32
  a
• 47:33
  beautiful
• 47:33
  job
• 47:33
  laying,
• 47:34
  laying
• 47:35
  out
• 47:35
  how
• 47:35
  to
• 47:35
  tie
• 47:35
  this.
• 47:36
  But
• 47:36
  until
• 47:37
  you
• 47:37
  fish
• 47:37
  it,
• 47:38
  right,
• 47:39
  in
• 47:39
  whatever
• 47:39
  situation
• 47:40
  you're
• 47:40
  in,
• 47:41
  I
• 47:41
  mean,
• 47:42
  if
• 47:42
  I
• 47:42
  were
• 47:42
  going
• 47:42
  down
• 47:43
  to
• 47:43
  Island
• 47:43
  Beach
• 47:43
  State
• 47:44
  park
• 47:44
  and
• 47:44
  I
• 47:44
  followed
• 47:45
  his
• 47:45
  instructions,
• 47:46
  you
• 47:46
  know,
• 47:48
  chances
• 47:49
  are
• 47:49
  sure
• 47:50
  it'll
• 47:50
  fish.
• 47:51
  But
• 47:53
  like,
• 47:53
  there,
• 47:53
  there's
• 47:54
  just
• 47:54
  nuances
• 47:54
  that
• 47:55
  you
• 47:55
  figure
• 47:56
  out
• 47:56
  by
• 47:56
  putting
• 47:57
  time
• 47:57
  at
• 47:57
  the
• 47:58
  vice,
• 47:58
  right?
• 47:59
  And
• 48:00
  one
• 48:00
  thing,
• 48:01
  like
• 48:01
  Bob's
• 48:02
  first
• 48:02
  attempt,
• 48:03
  the
• 48:03
  reason
• 48:03
  it
• 48:03
  was
• 48:04
  called
• 48:04
  the
• 48:04
  beast
• 48:04
  is
• 48:05
  because
• 48:05
  it
• 48:05
  was
• 48:05
  so
• 48:05
  big
• 48:06
  and
• 48:06
  just
• 48:07
  tough,
• 48:07
  but
• 48:07
  it
• 48:07
  accomplished
• 48:08
  something,
• 48:09
  right?
• 48:09
  Each
• 48:09
  one
• 48:10
  of
• 48:10
  the
• 48:10
  flies
• 48:10
  you
• 48:11
  tie
• 48:13
  should
• 48:13
  accomplish
• 48:14
  something,
• 48:15
  right?
• 48:15
  It
• 48:15
  might
• 48:16
  not
• 48:16
  have
• 48:16
  been
• 48:18
  effective
• 48:19
  for
• 48:19
  what
• 48:20
  you
• 48:20
  were
• 48:20
  going
• 48:20
  after,
• 48:21
  but
• 48:22
  you
• 48:22
  learned.
• 48:23
  I
• 48:23
  need
• 48:24
  to
• 48:24
  go
• 48:24
  sparser
• 48:24
  next
• 48:25
  time.
• 48:25
  I
• 48:25
  need
• 48:26
  to
• 48:26
  get
• 48:26
  it
• 48:26
  deeper.
• 48:27
  I
• 48:27
  need,
• 48:28
  you
• 48:28
  know,
• 48:28
  to
• 48:29
  make
• 48:30
  it
• 48:30
  lighter
• 48:30
  so
• 48:31
  that
• 48:31
  it
• 48:31
  casts
• 48:32
  better.
• 48:32
  I
• 48:32
  need
• 48:33
  to
• 48:33
  change
• 48:33
  the
• 48:34
  hook,
• 48:34
  right.
• 48:35
  I
• 48:35
  need
• 48:35
  to
• 48:35
  go
• 48:35
  with
• 48:35
  a
• 48:36
  heavier
• 48:36
  gauge
• 48:36
  hook
• 48:37
  to
• 48:38
  keel
• 48:38
  properly
• 48:39
  in
• 48:40
  this
• 48:40
  current,
• 48:41
  or
• 48:41
  I
• 48:41
  need
• 48:41
  to
• 48:42
  go
• 48:42
  with
• 48:42
  a
• 48:42
  lighter
• 48:42
  one
• 48:43
  so
• 48:43
  that,
• 48:44
  you
• 48:44
  know,
• 48:45
  I'm
• 48:45
  hovering
• 48:45
  in
• 48:46
  said
• 48:47
  stage
• 48:47
  or,
• 48:48
  you
• 48:48
  know,
• 48:48
  like
• 48:49
  those
• 48:49
  are
• 48:49
  all
• 48:49
  things
• 48:50
  that
• 48:52
  reading
• 48:53
  the
• 48:53
  book
• 48:53
  isn't
• 48:54
  going
• 48:54
  to
• 48:54
  necessarily
• 48:55
  tell
• 48:55
  you,
• 48:56
  right?
• 48:58
  Because
• 48:58
  the
• 48:59
  fishery
• 48:59
  varies
• 48:59
  so
• 49:00
  greatly.
• 49:00
  Bob
• 49:00
  was
• 49:00
  fishing
• 49:01
  these,
• 49:02
  you
• 49:02
  know,
• 49:03
  most
• 49:04
  often
• 49:04
  off
• 49:04
  of,
• 49:05
  on
• 49:05
  the
• 49:06
  beach,
• 49:06
  right?
• 49:07
  On
• 49:07
  Island
• 49:07
  Beach
• 49:07
  State
• 49:08
  Park.
• 49:09
  Like,
• 49:09
  I
• 49:10
  don't
• 49:10
  fish
• 49:10
  them
• 49:12
  anywhere
• 49:12
  on
• 49:12
  a
• 49:13
  beach.
• 49:14
  Like,
• 49:14
  I'm
• 49:14
  fishing,
• 49:15
  you
• 49:16
  know,
• 49:17
  around
• 49:17
  deeper
• 49:18
  water,
• 49:19
  schools
• 49:19
  of
• 49:20
  pogies,
• 49:20
  or
• 49:22
  in
• 49:23
  rivers
• 49:23
  where
• 49:24
  it's
• 49:24
  deep
• 49:24
  and
• 49:25
  fast
• 49:25
  current,
• 49:26
  right.
• 49:27
  And
• 49:29
  I
• 49:29
  need
• 49:30
  to
• 49:30
  be
• 49:30
  able
• 49:30
  to
• 49:30
  cast
• 49:31
  it
• 49:32
  with
• 49:32
  an
• 49:33
  9
• 49:33
  or
• 49:34
  10
• 49:34
  weight
• 49:35
  repeatedly,
• 49:36
  80
• 49:36
  to
• 49:37
  90ft,
• 49:37
  right?
• 49:39
  And
• 49:40
  if
• 49:41
  you
• 49:41
  tie
• 49:41
  it
• 49:41
  too
• 49:42
  heavy,
• 49:42
  you're
• 49:43
  not
• 49:43
  going
• 49:43
  to
• 49:43
  be
• 49:44
  able
• 49:44
  to
• 49:44
  achieve
• 49:44
  those.
• 49:45
  And
• 49:46
  by
• 49:47
  testing
• 49:48
  and
• 49:48
  tweaking
• 49:48
  and
• 49:49
  watching
• 49:49
  it
• 49:49
  swim
• 49:50
  and
• 49:50
  watching
• 49:51
  how
• 49:51
  the
• 49:51
  fish
• 49:51
  react
• 49:52
  to
• 49:52
  it,
• 49:53
  you're
• 49:53
  able
• 49:54
  to
• 49:54
  modify
• 49:55
  how
• 49:56
  you
• 49:56
  tie
• 49:56
  it
• 49:56
  and
• 49:57
  eventually
• 49:57
  those
• 49:58
  kind
• 49:58
  of
• 49:59
  understandings
• 50:00
  become
• 50:00
  ingrained
• 50:01
  in
• 50:01
  your
• 50:01
  brain,
• 50:01
  right?
• 50:02
  All
• 50:02
  those
• 50:02
  lessons
• 50:03
  learned,
• 50:03
  repetitive
• 50:05
  to
• 50:05
  the
• 50:05
  point
• 50:06
  where
• 50:06
  I'm
• 50:06
  pretty
• 50:07
  confident
• 50:07
  I
• 50:07
  can
• 50:07
  tie
• 50:08
  a
• 50:08
  fly
• 50:09
  to,
• 50:11
  to
• 50:11
  get
• 50:11
  what
• 50:11
  I
• 50:12
  want
• 50:12
  it
• 50:13
  to
• 50:13
  do.
• 50:16
  But
• 50:16
  yeah,
• 50:17
  it's.
• 50:17
  It's
• 50:17
  just
• 50:18
  fish
• 50:18
  it
• 50:19
  fish
• 50:20
  like,
• 50:21
  you
• 50:21
  know,
• 50:22
  sure,
• 50:22
  fly
• 50:23
  tying
• 50:23
  is
• 50:23
  an
• 50:23
  art
• 50:23
  form,
• 50:24
  but
• 50:25
  Bob
• 50:25
  would
• 50:25
  be
• 50:26
  the
• 50:26
  first
• 50:26
  to
• 50:26
  say
• 50:26
  the
• 50:27
  reason
• 50:27
  we're
• 50:27
  tying
• 50:28
  is
• 50:31
  to
• 50:31
  be
• 50:31
  effective
• 50:32
  at
• 50:32
  catching
• 50:33
  fish,
• 50:34
  right?
• 50:36
  Pretty.
• 50:37
  Doesn't.
• 50:38
  Doesn't
• 50:38
  catch
• 50:38
  fish,
• 50:39
  right.
• 50:39
  And,
• 50:40
  and
• 50:41
  I
• 50:41
  always
• 50:41
  thought
• 50:41
  it
• 50:42
  was
• 50:42
  funny
• 50:42
  because
• 50:42
  I
• 50:43
  do
• 50:43
  like
• 50:44
  the
• 50:44
  kind
• 50:44
  of
• 50:44
  realism
• 50:45
  side
• 50:45
  of
• 50:46
  things,
• 50:46
  which
• 50:46
  is
• 50:46
  great.
• 50:48
  And
• 50:48
  I
• 50:48
  don't
• 50:48
  think
• 50:49
  it
• 50:49
  hurts
• 50:49
  a
• 50:49
  lot
• 50:49
  of
• 50:50
  times,
• 50:50
  but
• 50:52
  you
• 50:52
  know,
• 50:52
  as
• 50:53
  far
• 50:53
  as,
• 50:53
  like,
• 50:53
  eyes.
• 50:54
  Most
• 50:54
  of
• 50:54
  the
• 50:54
  flies
• 50:55
  I
• 50:55
  fish,
• 50:55
  I
• 50:55
  don't
• 50:56
  have
• 50:56
  eyes,
• 50:56
  but
• 50:56
  I'll
• 50:57
  throw
• 50:57
  them
• 50:57
  on,
• 50:58
  you
• 50:58
  know,
• 50:58
  or
• 50:58
  they'll
• 50:59
  start
• 50:59
  out
• 50:59
  with
• 50:59
  eyes.
• 51:02
  But
• 51:02
  anyways,
• 51:02
  it's.
• 51:03
  It's
• 51:03
  one
• 51:03
  of
• 51:03
  those
• 51:03
  things.
• 51:05
  Put
• 51:05
  the
• 51:05
  time
• 51:06
  in
• 51:06
  on
• 51:06
  the
• 51:06
  water
• 51:08
  to
• 51:08
  figure
• 51:08
  it
• 51:09
  out.
• 51:10
  Got
• 51:10
  it.
• 51:10
  And,
• 51:10
  you
• 51:10
  know,
• 51:10
  I'm
• 51:11
  trying
• 51:11
  to
• 51:11
  kind
• 51:11
  of
• 51:11
  think
• 51:11
  through
• 51:12
  kind
• 51:12
  of
• 51:12
  an
• 51:12
  easy
• 51:13
  way
• 51:13
  to
• 51:13
  kind
• 51:13
  of
• 51:13
  set
• 51:14
  up
• 51:14
  the
• 51:14
  next
• 51:14
  series
• 51:15
  of
• 51:15
  questions.
• 51:15
  You
• 51:16
  know,
• 51:16
  obviously
• 51:17
  you're,
• 51:17
  you
• 51:17
  know,
• 51:17
  you're
• 51:18
  fishing,
• 51:18
  you
• 51:18
  know,
• 51:19
  stripers,
• 51:19
  but
• 51:19
  in
• 51:19
  a
• 51:19
  lot
• 51:19
  of
• 51:20
  different
• 51:20
  situations.
• 51:20
  Can
• 51:21
  you
• 51:21
  kind
• 51:21
  of
• 51:22
  talk
• 51:22
  us
• 51:22
  through,
• 51:23
  kind
• 51:23
  of
• 51:23
  use
• 51:23
  cases
• 51:24
  in
• 51:24
  terms
• 51:24
  of,
• 51:24
  like,
• 51:24
  you
• 51:25
  know,
• 51:25
  like
• 51:25
  you
• 51:25
  talked
• 51:25
  earlier
• 51:25
  about,
• 51:26
  like,
• 51:26
  well,
• 51:26
  I'm
• 51:26
  in
• 51:26
  the
• 51:27
  rivers,
• 51:27
  I'm
• 51:27
  trying
• 51:27
  to
• 51:27
  hang
• 51:28
  them.
• 51:28
  Right.
• 51:29
  Versus,
• 51:30
  you
• 51:30
  know,
• 51:30
  fishing
• 51:30
  them
• 51:31
  on
• 51:31
  a
• 51:31
  rip
• 51:31
  on
• 51:31
  a
• 51:31
  jetty
• 51:32
  or
• 51:32
  something
• 51:32
  like
• 51:32
  that.
• 51:33
  Can
• 51:33
  you
• 51:33
  kind
• 51:33
  of
• 51:34
  maybe
• 51:34
  talk
• 51:34
  about,
• 51:35
  you
• 51:35
  know,
• 51:35
  here
• 51:35
  are
• 51:36
  some
• 51:36
  situations,
• 51:37
  and
• 51:38
  this
• 51:38
  is
• 51:38
  where
• 51:38
  I'm
• 51:38
  trying
• 51:38
  to
• 51:39
  fish
• 51:39
  the
• 51:39
  beast,
• 51:39
  and
• 51:40
  this
• 51:40
  is
• 51:40
  my
• 51:40
  tackle
• 51:40
  setup,
• 51:41
  and
• 51:41
  this
• 51:41
  is
• 51:41
  how
• 51:41
  I'm
• 51:42
  presenting
• 51:42
  the
• 51:42
  fly.
• 51:44
  Sure.
• 51:45
  I
• 51:45
  mean,
• 51:46
  most
• 51:46
  of
• 51:46
  the
• 51:46
  time,
• 51:47
  I
• 51:47
  can't.
• 51:48
  I'm
• 51:48
  throwing
• 51:48
  a
• 51:49
  10
• 51:49
  weight
• 51:50
  with
• 51:52
  a
• 51:53
  fast
• 51:53
  sink.
• 51:56
  Like
• 51:56
  400
• 51:56
  grain
• 51:57
  head.
• 52:01
  Like
• 52:01
  the
• 52:01
  new
• 52:01
  striper
• 52:02
  line
• 52:02
  SA
• 52:03
  came
• 52:03
  out
• 52:03
  with
• 52:03
  is.
• 52:04
  Has
• 52:04
  been
• 52:05
  super
• 52:05
  good.
• 52:06
  It's
• 52:07
  the
• 52:07
  S357.
• 52:11
  And
• 52:12
  so
• 52:12
  that
• 52:12
  that
• 52:13
  line,
• 52:14
  they
• 52:14
  increase
• 52:15
  the
• 52:15
  diameter
• 52:15
  of
• 52:15
  the
• 52:15
  running
• 52:16
  line
• 52:16
  so
• 52:16
  it
• 52:16
  doesn't
• 52:16
  tangle
• 52:17
  as
• 52:17
  much,
• 52:17
  which
• 52:17
  I
• 52:18
  think
• 52:18
  is
• 52:18
  awesome.
• 52:19
  But
• 52:19
  that
• 52:19
  line
• 52:20
  getting
• 52:20
  it
• 52:21
  down
• 52:22
  so
• 52:22
  often,
• 52:22
  like,
• 52:22
  the
• 52:23
  fish
• 52:23
  are
• 52:23
  down
• 52:23
  low
• 52:24
  unless
• 52:24
  they're,
• 52:25
  like,
• 52:25
  pushing
• 52:25
  bait
• 52:26
  up.
• 52:28
  So
• 52:28
  getting
• 52:28
  down
• 52:28
  to
• 52:29
  them
• 52:29
  can
• 52:29
  be
• 52:29
  critical.
• 52:30
  So
• 52:31
  typically
• 52:31
  I'm
• 52:32
  throwing
• 52:32
  a
• 52:32
  fast
• 52:33
  sink,
• 52:34
  and,
• 52:35
  you
• 52:35
  know,
• 52:36
  I'll
• 52:36
  either
• 52:37
  go
• 52:39
  like
• 52:39
  3ft
• 52:40
  of
• 52:40
  40
• 52:41
  pound
• 52:41
  to,
• 52:42
  you
• 52:42
  know,
• 52:43
  2ft
• 52:44
  of
• 52:45
  25
• 52:45
  pound,
• 52:46
  or
• 52:46
  depending
• 52:47
  what's
• 52:47
  there,
• 52:47
  if
• 52:47
  I'm
• 52:48
  snagging,
• 52:48
  like,
• 52:49
  if
• 52:49
  there's
• 52:49
  a
• 52:49
  lot
• 52:49
  of
• 52:49
  snags,
• 52:50
  I'll.
• 52:51
  I'll
• 52:51
  either
• 52:52
  do
• 52:52
  the
• 52:52
  Russian
• 52:53
  roulette
• 52:53
  and
• 52:53
  go
• 52:54
  heavy
• 52:54
  and
• 52:54
  hope
• 52:54
  I
• 52:55
  don't
• 52:55
  snag
• 52:55
  and
• 52:56
  then
• 52:56
  break
• 52:57
  my
• 52:57
  fly
• 52:57
  line
• 52:58
  or
• 52:58
  have
• 52:59
  a.
• 52:59
  Or
• 52:59
  go
• 53:00
  at
• 53:00
  20
• 53:00
  and
• 53:00
  then
• 53:01
  break
• 53:01
  my
• 53:01
  tip
• 53:01
  it
• 53:02
  and
• 53:02
  lose
• 53:02
  the
• 53:02
  fly.
• 53:02
  So.
• 53:05
  But
• 53:05
  just
• 53:05
  gauging
• 53:06
  that,
• 53:07
  although,
• 53:08
  like,
• 53:08
  last
• 53:08
  season,
• 53:09
  I
• 53:09
  caught
• 53:09
  my
• 53:10
  biggest
• 53:11
  my
• 53:11
  PB
• 53:12
  striper
• 53:13
  on
• 53:13
  foot
• 53:14
  off
• 53:14
  the
• 53:14
  rocky
• 53:15
  ledges
• 53:15
  up
• 53:15
  here,
• 53:18
  throwing
• 53:18
  a
• 53:19
  10
• 53:19
  weight
• 53:19
  with
• 53:20
  a
• 53:20
  floating
• 53:21
  line
• 53:22
  and
• 53:23
  like
• 53:23
  seven
• 53:23
  and
• 53:24
  a
• 53:24
  half
• 53:24
  foot
• 53:24
  kind
• 53:25
  of
• 53:25
  stout
• 53:25
  leader
• 53:26
  and
• 53:27
  a
• 53:27
  beast
• 53:27
  fly.
• 53:28
  And
• 53:29
  that
• 53:29
  was.
• 53:30
  You
• 53:30
  had
• 53:31
  like
• 53:31
  this
• 53:31
  cross
• 53:31
  current
• 53:32
  cutting
• 53:32
  across
• 53:33
  this
• 53:34
  submerged
• 53:35
  island,
• 53:36
  and
• 53:36
  the
• 53:36
  fish
• 53:36
  were
• 53:37
  getting
• 53:37
  pushed
• 53:37
  in
• 53:38
  because
• 53:38
  there
• 53:38
  was
• 53:38
  a
• 53:39
  current
• 53:39
  setup.
• 53:40
  So
• 53:40
  I
• 53:40
  was
• 53:41
  throwing
• 53:41
  this
• 53:41
  float
• 53:43
  and
• 53:43
  it.
• 53:44
  I
• 53:44
  mean,
• 53:44
  I
• 53:44
  always
• 53:44
  try
• 53:45
  to
• 53:45
  picture
• 53:46
  the
• 53:46
  bait
• 53:47
  because
• 53:47
  I,
• 53:47
  you
• 53:47
  know,
• 53:48
  I've.
• 53:49
  I've
• 53:49
  swam
• 53:50
  and.
• 53:50
  And
• 53:51
  observed
• 53:52
  the
• 53:52
  fish
• 53:52
  underwater,
• 53:53
  too,
• 53:53
  and
• 53:54
  watched
• 53:54
  how
• 53:54
  they
• 53:54
  behave
• 53:55
  from
• 53:55
  my
• 53:55
  polling
• 53:56
  platform
• 53:56
  so
• 53:56
  much.
• 53:57
  But
• 53:57
  watch
• 53:57
  how.
• 53:58
  How
• 53:58
  they
• 53:58
  move
• 53:59
  into
• 53:59
  certain
• 53:59
  spots.
• 54:00
  And
• 54:01
  so
• 54:01
  the
• 54:02
  current
• 54:02
  gets
• 54:03
  so
• 54:03
  strong
• 54:04
  up
• 54:04
  here
• 54:05
  that
• 54:05
  baits
• 54:06
  just
• 54:06
  don't
• 54:06
  stand
• 54:07
  a
• 54:07
  chance.
• 54:07
  So
• 54:08
  they're
• 54:08
  getting
• 54:09
  swept
• 54:09
  across
• 54:11
  and
• 54:11
  the
• 54:11
  fish
• 54:12
  will
• 54:12
  set
• 54:12
  up
• 54:12
  right,
• 54:13
  kind
• 54:13
  of
• 54:14
  in
• 54:15
  the
• 54:15
  pocket
• 54:15
  below,
• 54:16
  below
• 54:18
  where
• 54:18
  it
• 54:18
  dumps
• 54:19
  off
• 54:19
  from
• 54:20
  that
• 54:20
  submerged
• 54:20
  island.
• 54:21
  So
• 54:21
  I
• 54:21
  was
• 54:22
  pretty
• 54:22
  kind
• 54:23
  of
• 54:23
  swinging
• 54:23
  it
• 54:24
  through,
• 54:24
  letting
• 54:24
  it
• 54:24
  kind
• 54:25
  of
• 54:25
  breathe
• 54:26
  almost,
• 54:28
  and
• 54:28
  then,
• 54:29
  you
• 54:29
  know,
• 54:29
  occasionally
• 54:30
  doing
• 54:31
  a
• 54:31
  couple
• 54:31
  longer
• 54:32
  strips
• 54:32
  just
• 54:32
  to
• 54:32
  kind
• 54:32
  of
• 54:33
  get
• 54:33
  it
• 54:33
  to
• 54:33
  pulse
• 54:34
  and
• 54:34
  kind
• 54:34
  of.
• 54:35
  I
• 54:36
  think
• 54:36
  the
• 54:36
  stop
• 54:37
  and
• 54:37
  go
• 54:37
  is
• 54:37
  a
• 54:38
  big
• 54:38
  one
• 54:38
  I've
• 54:39
  found
• 54:39
  over
• 54:39
  the
• 54:39
  years
• 54:39
  where
• 54:42
  letting
• 54:42
  your
• 54:42
  fly
• 54:43
  pause
• 54:44
  and
• 54:44
  move,
• 54:45
  sometimes
• 54:46
  if
• 54:46
  stripers
• 54:46
  are
• 54:47
  around
• 54:47
  or
• 54:47
  if
• 54:47
  predator
• 54:48
  fish
• 54:48
  are
• 54:49
  around,
• 54:49
  it
• 54:50
  catches
• 54:50
  their
• 54:50
  attention
• 54:51
  more
• 54:51
  than
• 54:51
  just
• 54:52
  a
• 54:52
  steady
• 54:52
  retrieve.
• 54:57
  But,
• 54:58
  yeah,
• 54:58
  those
• 54:58
  two
• 54:58
  setups,
• 54:59
  he
• 55:00
  sometimes
• 55:00
  on
• 55:01
  an
• 55:01
  intermediate,
• 55:01
  but
• 55:02
  I.
• 55:02
  I
• 55:02
  end
• 55:02
  up
• 55:03
  either
• 55:03
  fast
• 55:03
  sync
• 55:04
  or.
• 55:05
  Or
• 55:06
  intermediate
• 55:07
  or
• 55:08
  float.
• 55:08
  Like
• 55:09
  the
• 55:09
  float
• 55:09
  setup
• 55:09
  I
• 55:10
  was
• 55:10
  telling.
• 55:10
  You,
• 55:12
  very,
• 55:12
  very
• 55:12
  neat.
• 55:13
  And,
• 55:13
  you
• 55:13
  know,
• 55:13
  before
• 55:13
  we
• 55:13
  go
• 55:14
  tonight,
• 55:14
  I
• 55:14
  know
• 55:14
  you're,
• 55:15
  you
• 55:15
  know,
• 55:15
  you're
• 55:16
  one
• 55:16
  of
• 55:16
  the
• 55:16
  keepers
• 55:16
  of
• 55:16
  Bob's
• 55:17
  flame,
• 55:17
  or
• 55:17
  there's
• 55:17
  some
• 55:17
  other
• 55:18
  people
• 55:18
  out
• 55:18
  there
• 55:18
  kind
• 55:19
  of
• 55:19
  tying
• 55:19
  in
• 55:19
  his
• 55:20
  style
• 55:20
  flies
• 55:21
  that
• 55:21
  you
• 55:21
  watch
• 55:22
  or
• 55:22
  you
• 55:23
  want
• 55:23
  to
• 55:23
  kind
• 55:23
  of,
• 55:23
  you
• 55:23
  know,
• 55:23
  let
• 55:24
  folks
• 55:24
  know
• 55:24
  are
• 55:24
  out
• 55:24
  there.
• 55:24
  You're
• 55:25
  kind
• 55:25
  of
• 55:25
  building
• 55:26
  on
• 55:26
  Bob's
• 55:26
  tradition
• 55:27
  as
• 55:27
  well.
• 55:29
  I
• 55:29
  mean,
• 55:29
  one
• 55:30
  person
• 55:30
  that
• 55:31
  I've
• 55:32
  been
• 55:32
  inspired
• 55:33
  by,
• 55:33
  and
• 55:33
  honestly,
• 55:35
  you
• 55:35
  know,
• 55:35
  that.
• 55:36
  That
• 55:37
  sparked
• 55:37
  my
• 55:38
  curiosity
• 55:38
  and,
• 55:39
  and
• 55:39
  really
• 55:41
  I
• 55:41
  look
• 55:41
  up
• 55:41
  to
• 55:42
  still
• 55:42
  is
• 55:42
  Jason
• 55:43
  Taylor
• 55:43
  and
• 55:44
  his
• 55:45
  amazing
• 55:46
  skills
• 55:47
  with
• 55:48
  ostrich
• 55:49
  and
• 55:49
  bucktail.
• 55:50
  And,
• 55:50
  you
• 55:51
  know,
• 55:51
  I
• 55:51
  just.
• 55:52
  He
• 55:52
  does
• 55:53
  some
• 55:53
  really
• 55:53
  innovative,
• 55:54
  cool
• 55:55
  stuff.
• 55:58
  And.
• 55:59
  And
• 55:59
  it's
• 56:00
  neat.
• 56:00
  He's.
• 56:00
  He's
• 56:01
  down
• 56:01
  in
• 56:01
  Philly,
• 56:01
  but
• 56:03
  he.
• 56:03
  He
• 56:03
  fishes
• 56:04
  Jersey,
• 56:04
  and.
• 56:05
  And
• 56:06
  so
• 56:06
  it's
• 56:06
  neat
• 56:06
  to
• 56:07
  bounce
• 56:07
  ideas
• 56:07
  off
• 56:08
  of
• 56:08
  him
• 56:09
  from
• 56:09
  his
• 56:09
  fishery,
• 56:10
  too.
• 56:14
  But
• 56:14
  he's
• 56:15
  a.
• 56:15
  He's
• 56:15
  a
• 56:15
  big
• 56:15
  one.
• 56:18
  I
• 56:18
  mean,
• 56:19
  there's
• 56:19
  so
• 56:19
  many
• 56:19
  tires
• 56:20
  out
• 56:20
  there
• 56:20
  now
• 56:21
  working
• 56:21
  on
• 56:21
  this
• 56:22
  stuff,
• 56:22
  and
• 56:23
  some
• 56:23
  really
• 56:23
  talented
• 56:24
  ones.
• 56:25
  Yeah,
• 56:26
  I
• 56:26
  know
• 56:26
  Jason
• 56:26
  was
• 56:26
  on
• 56:27
  Masters
• 56:27
  of
• 56:27
  the
• 56:27
  Fly,
• 56:28
  I
• 56:28
  think,
• 56:28
  this
• 56:28
  past
• 56:28
  season,
• 56:29
  right?
• 56:30
  Yep,
• 56:30
  yep.
• 56:32
  Yeah,
• 56:32
  he's.
• 56:33
  He's
• 56:33
  super
• 56:33
  talented.
• 56:35
  He's.
• 56:35
  He
• 56:36
  tied
• 56:36
  a
• 56:36
  couple
• 56:36
  beast
• 56:37
  flies
• 56:37
  palmering
• 56:38
  ostrich.
• 56:40
  So
• 56:40
  he
• 56:40
  like
• 56:40
  splits
• 56:41
  the.
• 56:41
  The
• 56:42
  ostrich
• 56:42
  in
• 56:42
  half,
• 56:43
  the
• 56:43
  ostrich
• 56:44
  plume
• 56:44
  in
• 56:44
  half.
• 56:45
  And
• 56:45
  then
• 56:45
  he'll
• 56:46
  tape,
• 56:46
  he'll
• 56:47
  wrap
• 56:47
  it
• 56:48
  up,
• 56:48
  the
• 56:48
  mono.
• 56:50
  So
• 56:50
  you
• 56:50
  get
• 56:50
  this
• 56:50
  cool
• 56:51
  kind
• 56:51
  of
• 56:52
  filler,
• 56:53
  filler
• 56:54
  tail.
• 56:55
  Kind
• 56:55
  of
• 56:55
  neat.
• 56:56
  Yeah,
• 56:56
  super
• 56:56
  neat.
• 56:56
  Anybody
• 56:57
  else
• 56:57
  you
• 56:57
  can
• 56:57
  think
• 56:57
  of?
• 57:01
  There's.
• 57:02
  I
• 57:03
  don't
• 57:03
  know
• 57:03
  how
• 57:03
  to
• 57:03
  Say
• 57:03
  his
• 57:04
  last
• 57:04
  name.
• 57:04
  Andrew
• 57:04
  Warshire.
• 57:06
  He's
• 57:06
  been
• 57:07
  at
• 57:07
  it
• 57:07
  for
• 57:07
  a
• 57:08
  long
• 57:08
  time
• 57:11
  out
• 57:11
  of
• 57:12
  the
• 57:12
  gate.
• 57:13
  He,
• 57:13
  he
• 57:14
  shared
• 57:15
  quite
• 57:15
  a
• 57:15
  bit
• 57:16
  of
• 57:16
  tips
• 57:17
  and
• 57:17
  texts
• 57:17
  and
• 57:18
  techniques
• 57:18
  with
• 57:18
  me,
• 57:19
  which
• 57:19
  was
• 57:20
  super
• 57:20
  helpful.
• 57:22
  He
• 57:22
  spent
• 57:23
  a
• 57:23
  lot
• 57:23
  of
• 57:23
  time
• 57:23
  with
• 57:24
  Bob
• 57:24
  learning
• 57:25
  so
• 57:25
  that
• 57:26
  he's,
• 57:26
  he's
• 57:27
  always
• 57:27
  one
• 57:28
  of
• 57:28
  the
• 57:28
  top
• 57:28
  guys,
• 57:33
  trying
• 57:34
  to
• 57:34
  think
• 57:34
  who
• 57:34
  else
• 57:37
  not
• 57:37
  to
• 57:38
  say
• 57:38
  they
• 57:38
  aren't
• 57:38
  out
• 57:38
  there.
• 57:39
  I'm
• 57:40
  just
• 57:40
  brain
• 57:40
  dead.
• 57:41
  No,
• 57:41
  it's
• 57:42
  all
• 57:42
  good.
• 57:42
  I'll,
• 57:42
  I'll
• 57:42
  give
• 57:42
  you
• 57:42
  a
• 57:43
  break.
• 57:43
  You've
• 57:43
  been
• 57:43
  up
• 57:43
  since
• 57:43
  three
• 57:44
  something
• 57:44
  in
• 57:44
  the
• 57:44
  morning.
• 57:44
  We
• 57:44
  got
• 57:44
  a
• 57:44
  couple
• 57:45
  names.
• 57:45
  If
• 57:45
  you
• 57:46
  think
• 57:46
  of
• 57:46
  anybody
• 57:47
  else,
• 57:47
  text
• 57:47
  me
• 57:47
  off
• 57:48
  and
• 57:48
  I'll
• 57:48
  drop
• 57:48
  a
• 57:48
  link
• 57:49
  to,
• 57:50
  to
• 57:50
  like
• 57:50
  their
• 57:50
  Instagram
• 57:51
  page
• 57:51
  or
• 57:51
  something
• 57:51
  in
• 57:51
  there.
• 57:52
  Yeah,
• 57:53
  but
• 57:53
  you
• 57:53
  know,
• 57:53
  the
• 57:54
  good
• 57:54
  news
• 57:54
  is
• 57:54
  right
• 57:54
  so
• 57:55
  the
• 57:55
  Beast
• 57:55
  is
• 57:55
  an
• 57:55
  involved
• 57:56
  tie.
• 57:56
  I
• 57:56
  mean
• 57:56
  as
• 57:56
  you
• 57:57
  mentioned
• 57:57
  earlier,
• 57:57
  Bob
• 57:57
  was
• 57:58
  like
• 57:58
  let's
• 57:58
  not
• 57:58
  even
• 57:58
  put
• 57:58
  it
• 57:58
  in
• 57:59
  the
• 57:59
  book
• 57:59
  because
• 57:59
  no
• 57:59
  one
• 57:59
  wants
• 57:59
  to
• 57:59
  do
• 58:00
  this.
• 58:01
  But
• 58:01
  if
• 58:01
  you
• 58:02
  prefer
• 58:02
  to
• 58:02
  buy
• 58:03
  versus
• 58:03
  tie,
• 58:03
  you
• 58:04
  want
• 58:04
  to
• 58:04
  let
• 58:04
  folks
• 58:04
  know
• 58:04
  a
• 58:04
  little
• 58:05
  bit
• 58:05
  about
• 58:05
  the
• 58:05
  fly
• 58:05
  drops
• 58:06
  you
• 58:06
  do
• 58:06
  throughout
• 58:06
  the
• 58:06
  year.
• 58:07
  Yeah,
• 58:08
  so
• 58:08
  during
• 58:08
  my
• 58:08
  off
• 58:09
  season,
• 58:09
  during
• 58:09
  the,
• 58:10
  so
• 58:10
  during
• 58:11
  my
• 58:11
  guiding
• 58:11
  season,
• 58:12
  pretty
• 58:12
  much
• 58:12
  from
• 58:12
  mid
• 58:13
  May
• 58:13
  to
• 58:13
  mid
• 58:13
  October,
• 58:14
  give
• 58:15
  or
• 58:15
  take
• 58:15
  a
• 58:15
  couple
• 58:16
  weeks
• 58:16
  on
• 58:16
  either
• 58:16
  end.
• 58:18
  I,
• 58:18
  I'm
• 58:18
  not
• 58:19
  tying
• 58:19
  for
• 58:20
  my
• 58:20
  fly
• 58:20
  drops,
• 58:21
  but
• 58:21
  my
• 58:21
  fly
• 58:21
  drops
• 58:22
  are
• 58:22
  kind
• 58:22
  of
• 58:22
  small
• 58:23
  batch
• 58:23
  releases
• 58:24
  of
• 58:25
  flies
• 58:26
  that
• 58:26
  I
• 58:26
  do
• 58:27
  through
• 58:27
  my
• 58:27
  website.
• 58:29
  So
• 58:29
  if
• 58:30
  people
• 58:30
  are
• 58:30
  interested,
• 58:31
  you
• 58:31
  can
• 58:31
  check
• 58:32
  out
• 58:32
  benwallyfishing.com
• 58:36
  check
• 58:36
  out
• 58:36
  the
• 58:37
  fly
• 58:37
  drops
• 58:38
  page
• 58:38
  and
• 58:39
  you
• 58:39
  become
• 58:40
  a
• 58:40
  member.
• 58:40
  It's
• 58:41
  free,
• 58:41
  but
• 58:42
  it
• 58:42
  will
• 58:43
  get
• 58:43
  you
• 58:43
  signed
• 58:44
  up
• 58:44
  for
• 58:44
  the
• 58:45
  email
• 58:46
  to
• 58:46
  find
• 58:46
  out
• 58:46
  when
• 58:48
  the
• 58:48
  fly
• 58:48
  drops
• 58:49
  go
• 58:49
  live
• 58:50
  and
• 58:51
  access
• 58:51
  to
• 58:51
  the
• 58:52
  fly
• 58:52
  shop
• 58:52
  where
• 58:52
  those
• 58:53
  flies
• 58:53
  will
• 58:54
  populate
• 58:55
  on
• 58:55
  noon
• 58:56
  of
• 58:56
  whatever
• 58:56
  date
• 58:57
  that
• 58:57
  the
• 58:58
  fly
• 58:58
  drop
• 58:58
  is
• 58:59
  happening.
• 59:00
  And
• 59:00
  then
• 59:00
  it's
• 59:01
  kind
• 59:01
  of
• 59:01
  first
• 59:01
  come,
• 59:01
  first
• 59:02
  serve
• 59:02
  to
• 59:03
  get
• 59:03
  them
• 59:04
  and
• 59:04
  I
• 59:04
  try
• 59:05
  to,
• 59:05
  you
• 59:05
  know,
• 59:06
  include
• 59:07
  a,
• 59:07
  a
• 59:08
  good
• 59:08
  variety
• 59:09
  of,
• 59:10
  you
• 59:10
  know,
• 59:10
  big
• 59:10
  flies,
• 59:12
  bit
• 59:12
  like
• 59:12
  beast
• 59:12
  flies,
• 59:14
  some
• 59:14
  other
• 59:14
  patterns
• 59:15
  I've
• 59:15
  been
• 59:15
  playing
• 59:16
  around
• 59:16
  with
• 59:17
  and
• 59:17
  then
• 59:17
  hollow
• 59:18
  flies
• 59:18
  and
• 59:19
  kind
• 59:19
  of
• 59:19
  the
• 59:19
  staples
• 59:20
  that
• 59:21
  are
• 59:21
  kind
• 59:21
  of
• 59:21
  the
• 59:22
  day
• 59:22
  in,
• 59:22
  day
• 59:22
  out
• 59:23
  catchers
• 59:24
  along
• 59:24
  the
• 59:24
  east
• 59:24
  coast
• 59:25
  especially
• 59:26
  as
• 59:26
  far
• 59:26
  as
• 59:26
  patterns
• 59:27
  go,
• 59:27
  bulkheads,
• 59:29
  hollows.
• 59:32
  So
• 59:32
  yeah,
• 59:33
  if
• 59:34
  interested,
• 59:34
  head
• 59:35
  over
• 59:35
  there,
• 59:35
  sign
• 59:35
  up
• 59:36
  and,
• 59:37
  and
• 59:38
  I
• 59:38
  will
• 59:39
  let
• 59:40
  everybody
• 59:40
  know
• 59:41
  when
• 59:41
  the
• 59:41
  next
• 59:41
  one
• 59:42
  is
• 59:44
  once
• 59:44
  the
• 59:44
  season
• 59:45
  starts
• 59:45
  wrapping
• 59:45
  up.
• 59:46
  Yeah,
• 59:47
  so
• 59:47
  I
• 59:47
  will
• 59:47
  drop
• 59:48
  a
• 59:48
  link
• 59:48
  to
• 59:48
  that
• 59:48
  in
• 59:48
  the
• 59:48

• 59:48
  notes.
• 59:49
  Ben,
• 59:49
  before
• 59:49
  I
• 59:49
  let
• 59:49
  you
• 59:49
  go

  tonight,
• 59:50
  is
• 59:50
  there
• 59:50

• 59:50
  else
• 59:51
  you'd
• 59:51

• 59:51
  to
• 59:51
  share
• 59:51
  with
• 59:51
  our
• 59:51

• 59:54
  No,
• 59:54
  I
• 59:55
  mean
• 59:56
  I
• 59:56
  just
• 59:57
  fish
• 59:57
  and
• 59:58
  share.
• 59:58
  Share

  it's

  great.

  more

  the

  the
