- 0:52Speaker 1: is an honor to be back with all of you today.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I know that it's been a while since I've released
- 0:58Speaker 1: an episode of Grew a Porsche. The last episode came
- 1:02Speaker 1: out in September of twenty twenty three. Who and also,
- 1:07Speaker 1: you guys know that I host the TV show on
- 1:09Speaker 1: E three sixty TV called The Grief Grand Tour and
- 1:12Speaker 1: that show concluded in March of twenty twenty four. So
- 1:18Speaker 1: the big question that many of you may have today
- 1:20Speaker 1: is where's Porsche been Porscha has been on a little hiatus,
- 1:25Speaker 1: and those of you who know my story about my
- 1:28Speaker 1: grief journey, and you know how grief can be. Grief
- 1:32Speaker 1: can take you through a multitude of storms, and some
- 1:37Speaker 1: days you feel like yourself and other days you feel
- 1:44Speaker 1: like you're a stranger walking amongst all the people who
- 1:47Speaker 1: you know. I call it the familiar stranger effect. So
- 1:51Speaker 1: Porsche is still here. Grew with Porsche is slowly making
- 1:55Speaker 1: its way back to all of you. So before I
- 1:58Speaker 1: continue today, just to quick ask of all of you,
- 2:02Speaker 1: don't forget to like, share and subscribe to keep up
- 2:05Speaker 1: with all the latest and greatest of all Withdrew with Porsche.
- 2:10Speaker 1: So I have a quick story to share with each
- 2:13Speaker 1: and every one of you today. How often do we
- 2:18Speaker 1: encounter people who clearly are having a rough time in
- 2:25Speaker 1: their day and we take the initiative to really inquire
- 2:30Speaker 1: and give them that human connection. So the other day, y'all,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I had my own personal check engine light come on,
- 2:38Speaker 1: no pun intended, and I had to go to obviously
- 2:44Speaker 1: the doctor to have myself examined. You know how that goes.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Why get there and the nurse who I had, I'm
- 2:52Speaker 1: just gonna call her Rihanna. For the moment, Nurse Rihanna
- 2:56Speaker 1: clearly when she saw me, she called my name, I
- 2:59Speaker 1: am meet. LE felt that energetic vibe of she didn't
- 3:04Speaker 1: want to be there. There was something else going on.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You guys know what I'm talking about. Where you encounter people.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It's early in the morning, I mean seven, eight o'clock
- 3:12Speaker 1: in the morning, right, How is it that somebody put
- 3:15Speaker 1: mustard in your cheerios that early in the day. That
- 3:17Speaker 1: was literally my thought, right, So she calls my name.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I go back, and of course those of us who
- 3:22Speaker 1: are women, you know, we often have to go through
- 3:24Speaker 1: a special test what I like to call squeezing lemonade
- 3:28Speaker 1: out of us. If you catch my drift. Obviously we're
- 3:31Speaker 1: not drinking that kind of lemonade. But that's for a
- 3:33Speaker 1: whole another day. And so obviously I had to go
- 3:36Speaker 1: through that kind of test, you know what I'm talking about.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And for those of you who know, the store is
- 3:40Speaker 1: closed over here, Okay, the store is closed. So Rihanna
- 3:45Speaker 1: takes my stuff and we go into the room, and
- 3:50Speaker 1: I just felt called everybody to just ask her, because
- 3:55Speaker 1: I'm being honest. I was in my films a little
- 3:57Speaker 1: bit too, because I'm thinking, dag, who'll put ketchup in
- 4:00Speaker 1: your cheers this morning? I'm probably one of the first
- 4:03Speaker 1: patients that you see. And I know not everybody is
- 4:06Speaker 1: an early riser like me. Those of you know me.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm up at four and five o'clock every day. But
- 4:11Speaker 1: I just took a moment to ask her. I said, Hey,
- 4:16Speaker 1: what's going on? Are you not having a good week?
- 4:21Speaker 1: And me taking that initiative to just ask her what
- 4:28Speaker 1: was going on? She opened up to me, y'all. I
- 4:31Speaker 1: mean she opened up like a rich man handing you
- 4:35Speaker 1: a billion dollars out of his wallet type of thing.
- 4:37Speaker 1: She shared with me that her son kept her up
- 4:42Speaker 1: all night and she's in nursing school and she's working
- 4:46Speaker 1: on papers and so she's juggling, right, She's juggling the
- 4:50Speaker 1: mom life, work, being a student, you know, all the things.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And she said that she had she didn't sleep, and
- 4:59Speaker 1: I asked her, said, hey, is there anything I can do?
- 5:02Speaker 1: Can I get you a cup of coffee? I don't
- 5:04Speaker 1: know if I can offer you a hug? And I
- 5:07Speaker 1: think everybody me taking that time to ask her was
- 5:11Speaker 1: what she needed because we often don't realize how the
- 5:16Speaker 1: strong ones. You know, they say check on your strong friends,
- 5:19Speaker 1: because they're the ones who often don't say much or
- 5:22Speaker 1: that often need support. I think she needed somebody to
- 5:26Speaker 1: see her, somebody to value her in that moment, because
- 5:31Speaker 1: we know how it is everybody when we go to hospitals.
- 5:33Speaker 1: People are already upset to be there because obviously there's
- 5:37Speaker 1: a problem that needs to be addressed. Well, I'm glad
- 5:41Speaker 1: everybody that I took that time to inquire and be
- 5:46Speaker 1: that human connection for her, because we ended up laughing
- 5:49Speaker 1: and talking about shoes and going to the gym and
- 5:53Speaker 1: just all the other random things of life. Well, of
- 5:57Speaker 1: course I had to get a test done. I'm not
- 5:59Speaker 1: gonna say what the kind of test is, but let's
- 6:02Speaker 1: just say it's the Peace and Pain test. If you
- 6:06Speaker 1: catch my drift of what that stands for those of
- 6:09Speaker 1: us who know. And I'll be honest, y'all. I got
- 6:13Speaker 1: very nervous during my tests the other day. And the
- 6:19Speaker 1: thing that I'm always grateful for is in the mornings
- 6:23Speaker 1: I often write, I'm grateful that the love that I
- 6:28Speaker 1: dish out into the world, that it's returned to me.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And lo and behold, everybody. The nurse Rihanna could see
- 6:37Speaker 1: that I was having a hard time relaxing for this test.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I mean, y'all, when I tell y'all, my forehead was
- 6:44Speaker 1: bucketed and sweat like I was running from a cheetah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: No pun intended, like literally, I my forehead was sweating,
- 6:50Speaker 1: and they tried to get me to do some mindfulness
- 6:54Speaker 1: activities to help me to relax down. Well, Nurse Rihanna
- 6:58Speaker 1: said to me, Hey, how about I hold your hand?
- 7:04Speaker 1: How about I hold your hand in this moment to
- 7:06Speaker 1: give you something to focus on. Y'all again, the power
- 7:12Speaker 1: of human connection. Who would have thought that if I
- 7:18Speaker 1: didn't take that time to give Nurse Rihanna that moment
- 7:23Speaker 1: to express herself, to be human, to connect with her
- 7:28Speaker 1: in that way, my whole entire day would have been
- 7:32Speaker 1: different because I needed support in that moment right, And
- 7:38Speaker 1: the fact that she was open to give me the
- 7:41Speaker 1: same level of support that I had given her earlier,
- 7:44Speaker 1: that was just truly, I can't even describe it. I'm
- 7:49Speaker 1: just so grateful, And so I want to just remind
- 7:52Speaker 1: each and every one of us today where is our
- 7:56Speaker 1: focus and are we being mindful of connecting with others
- 8:04Speaker 1: and noticing the different avenues of how people are projecting. Right,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I could have taken this super personal, because I know
- 8:14Speaker 1: how I can be. Y'all, those of you who've met
- 8:15Speaker 1: me in person, you know how I am with certain things.
- 8:18Speaker 1: But I'm glad that in that moment I recognized that
- 8:24Speaker 1: I could be the bigger person in this situation and
- 8:26Speaker 1: I can meet this woman with love, and she met
- 8:30Speaker 1: me with the same amount as well. And then, of course, y'all,
- 8:33Speaker 1: after my test, right after I had to literally wipe
- 8:36Speaker 1: my forehead with however many paper tiles. After sweating literally me,
- 8:41Speaker 1: the Rihanna and the doctor, we ended up laughing about
- 8:46Speaker 1: shoes and going to the gym and just all the things.
- 8:50Speaker 1: So I just want to remind each and every one
- 8:53Speaker 1: of us, each and every one of you today who's
- 8:55Speaker 1: tuning in, remember that every day you get to choose.
- 9:01Speaker 1: You get to choose how to show up, you get
- 9:04Speaker 1: to choose how to pay it forward, and you get
- 9:07Speaker 1: to choose what to be grateful for, because in my eyes,
- 9:11Speaker 1: everybody having an attitude of gratitude means that nothing is
- 9:17Speaker 1: truly lost. Everything in our life serves as an opportunity
- 9:23Speaker 1: for us to learn, for us to grow and for
- 9:27Speaker 1: us to connect with others. Thank you guys so much
- 9:30Speaker 1: for tuning in to group port today. I'll see you
- 9:32Speaker 1: guys next week. Take care,
