- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn French with Fexingo? Luna: Yeah, I'm ready! What are we doing today? Lucas: Today I'm going to tell you a tiny story. It's morning, and someone goes to a bakery. Luna: Oh, I love bakeries. French bakeries are the best. Lucas: Exactly. So, picture this. It's early morning, maybe seven o'clock. Our friend, let's call her Marie, walks into a little bakery. Luna: Okay, I'm picturing it. She's probably hungry. Lucas: Right. She opens the door, and the baker is behind the counter. Marie smiles and says, 'Bonjour!' Luna: Bonjour! That's our hello during the day. Lucas: Yes, but since it's early morning, she could also say 'Bon matin' — good morning. But 'Bonjour' works fine too. So she says, 'Bonjour!' Luna: Bonjour! I remember that from episode one. Lucas: Good memory! The baker looks up and replies, 'Bonjour! Comment ça va?' — how are you? Luna: Comment ça va? Right, casual how are you. Lucas: Marie says, 'Ça va bien, merci. Et vous?' — I'm good, thanks. And you? The baker says, 'Ça va bien, merci.' Luna: Ça va bien, merci. So they're both doing well. Lucas: Exactly. Then Marie wants to order. She needs a baguette. She says, 'Je voudrais une baguette, s'il vous plaît.' — I would like a baguette, please. Luna: Wait, 'Je voudrais' is new. But 's'il vous plaît' is please — we learned that. Lucas: Yes, 's'il vous plaît' is please. 'Je voudrais' is new, but I'm just telling the story. The baker nods and says, 'Un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq?' — one, two, three, four, five? No, he's counting baguettes. He asks, 'Combien?' — how many? Marie says, 'Une, s'il vous plaît.' — one, please. Luna: Une — that's the feminine for one. We learned numbers: un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq. Lucas: Perfect. The baker wraps the baguette and says, 'Voilà. Ça fait un euro.' — Here you go. That's one euro. Marie hands over the coin and says, 'Merci!' Luna: Merci! Thank you. Lucas: Then she says, 'Au revoir!' — goodbye. Luna: Au revoir! And maybe 'À plus tard' if she'll come back later? Lucas: Yes! 'À plus tard' means see you later. The baker says, 'Au revoir! À plus tard!' and Marie leaves with her warm baguette. Luna: Oh, that's so nice. I love that story. So the phrases we used were: Bonjour, Comment ça va?, Ça va bien merci, s'il vous plaît, merci, au revoir, à plus tard, and numbers un to cinq. Lucas: Exactly. All from previous episodes. Plus 'Je m'appelle' wasn't used, but Marie didn't introduce herself. But we could add that if the baker asked her name. Luna: Right. Like 'Je m'appelle Marie. Comment tu t'appelles?' But she already knows the baker. Lucas: Yes. And 'Enchanté' — nice to meet you — wouldn't fit here. But all these phrases work in a bakery. Luna: I want to practice the scene. Can I be Marie? Lucas: Sure. I'm the baker. So I say, 'Bonjour!' Luna: Bonjour! Luna: Merci. Au revoir! Lucas: Au revoir! À plus tard! Luna: Oh, that felt so real! I actually ordered a baguette in French. Lucas: You did great. And that's the beauty of tiny stories — you practice real conversations without pressure. Luna: I'm going to use this next time I'm at a bakery. Maybe I'll say 'Bonjour' to the baker here. Lucas: Awesome. And if they look confused, just smile and say 'Merci'. Luna: Exactly. Thanks for this story, Lucas. I really enjoyed it. Lucas: You're welcome. That was episode 13 of Learn French with Fexingo. Practice these phrases — Bonjour, Comment ça va?, Ça va bien merci, s'il vous plaît, merci, au revoir, à plus tard, and numbers un to cinq. See you next time! Luna: Au revoir! À plus tard!
