- 1:26subscribe to the show. Make sure you share with the
- 1:29technologist that needs to listen to this.
- 1:32Listen to the good points that I have or needs help on their CT
- 1:35training. So make sure you share the show
- 1:38and yeah it's good. All good things are happening
- 1:40for 2026 for the CAT Scan Guru podcast.
- 1:43So also if you need help to make sure that your CT training is
- 1:48starting off on the right path. I have a course with just three
- 1:54courses looped into one to get you there and get you tip top to
- 2:00being a successful technologist. So in today's episode, I'm going
- 2:05to be talking about going from a new CT technologist to a
- 2:10confidence CT technologist, OK? So this topic of confidence is
- 2:14really, really important because CT is overwhelming.
- 2:17It's complex, it's a lot, and there's a lot of things to know
- 2:21when it comes to this modality, OK?
- 2:24It's very, very complex and it could really overwhelm you and
- 2:28burn you out very fast. OK, so I talked about burnout in
- 2:33two podcast episodes prior to this, so make sure you guys
- 2:36check that episode out as well. OK?
- 2:39So what I'm going to be talking about is what confidence really
- 2:43is, how it's built and how we continue that long term growth
- 2:48of confidence when it comes to CT.
- 2:50OK. So what confidence really is is
- 2:53is that you show up, you make sure that you hardwire your core
- 2:59exams. You do a lot of repetition.
- 3:02I know it's boring to do the same exam over and over and over
- 3:07again, but it's highly necessary so that you learn those core
- 3:11exams efficiently and you do them correctly every single
- 3:15time. So practice, practice is another
- 3:18one on what confidence really is.
- 3:20Play. You use repetition, you practice
- 3:25and you really put education like at the forefront where you
- 3:29continue to educate yourself every day and you continue to
- 3:33learn something. That's where true confidence is
- 3:36built. OK, now you see a lot of texts
- 3:39that may fake confidence and you know what?
- 3:42The statement, fake it till you make it, especially if you are
- 3:45afraid and you are just doing your best.
- 3:48A lot of times that can work, but some people do fake
- 3:51confidence and it's all for show, OK?
- 3:55You can really see a person's true colors because they will
- 3:57show you everything you need to know right up front, OK, It's
- 4:01like if you're dating somebody new, OK, all the red flags, all
- 4:05you know, everything you need to know about that person, you will
- 4:09see it in their actions in the very beginning.
- 4:11It's the same thing with confidence.
- 4:13If you execute it, it's like a muscle.
- 4:15It gets stronger and stronger and stronger if you execute
- 4:18where you're doing, you know, repetition in exams and making
- 4:22sure those core exams are hardwired.
- 4:24Your patient centering is good and making sure you practice and
- 4:28you continue your education and your learning.
- 4:32Those are the things that are going to get you from being a
- 4:34new, overwhelmed, scared CT tech to a confident CT tech in no
- 4:40time. OK, now, like I said, how is it
- 4:42built? I just explained it.
- 4:44It's by repetition, lots of repetition.
- 4:47Yes, that sounds fucking boring, but repetition is very important
- 4:50because you need to know know how to do those exams correctly,
- 4:54OK? I can't tell you how many times
- 4:56I've seen technologists that don't know how to center a
- 4:59patient correctly and they've been in the business 10 years.
- 5:01You have to know how to do it correctly, OK?
- 5:04So that is how it's built and by practicing, you practice every
- 5:09single time. Know your protocols, pull out
- 5:12your protocol book, write things down.
- 5:14Those are super important. That is why I created a protocol
- 5:18book for you technologists out there to guide you while you're
- 5:22trained and making sure that you know everything that there is to
- 5:25know when you're executing an exam.
- 5:27So practice repetition and education is important.
- 5:32Making sure those continuing education, make sure you pay
- 5:35attention to those because a lot of those articles, seminars, you
- 5:39know, things like that, you know, RSNAI actually live in,
- 5:45well, I live in a suburb of the city that RSNA is hosted in
- 5:49every single year, OK. And I've been to RSNA, it's been
- 5:5210 years since I've been to RSNA, but I've been there and
- 5:55I'm telling you, it's fabulous and you learn a lot, OK?
- 5:59So education is very, very important.
- 6:02You know, those seminars, those direct readings, those, you
- 6:05know, there's a lot of CE providers out there that provide
- 6:09a lot of educational material during rad Tech week.
- 6:12You know, if you are, if you have GE systems, I know at my
- 6:17hospital they offer a free educational portal for all of us
- 6:22because we have a contract. I know at a previous hospital I
- 6:25worked at, Phillips did the same thing.
- 6:28So usually the vendors will do that and they'll throw that in
- 6:30because they contract with the hospital for the CT units to be
- 6:34repaired and serviced. OK, Use all of those to your
- 6:38advantage. If it's free and your hospital
- 6:41provides it, use it to your advantage because that is how
- 6:45confidence is built and that is how you're going to be a more
- 6:48successful technologist and a more knowledgeable one.
- 6:51OK, so you have to educate your brain.
- 6:54OK, There is a difference between being a textbook tech
- 6:57and actually educating yourself and knowing what you're doing
- 7:00out on the floor. So because I know some of them,
- 7:02you're going to be like, Oh well, you well, no, a textbook
- 7:05tech is a difference and you can spot them right away.
- 7:09Remember when I said, you know, as far as you can read people by
- 7:14their actions and they'll show you who they really are in the
- 7:16beginning? It's the same thing here.
- 7:18OK, so education is a very important piece.
- 7:21So if you have all those tools, use them to your advantage
- 7:24because it'll be worth it no matter what.
- 7:27Now for long term growth and it's piggybacking off of your
- 7:31education, go to those seminars. If your facility don't get those
- 7:34three passes to RSNA, take advantage of it and do it.
- 7:38There's a lot of, I know there is CT is US that is a great
- 7:43resource as well. And they put on a lot of
- 7:46seminars every single year that you can sign up for.
- 7:50There's MTMI, there's all different kinds of, you know,
- 7:55resources out there that you can attend the seminars, get your
- 7:58learn on and learn something from that.
- 8:01I also have courses and I'm in the process of building more
- 8:04courses that can really help you.
- 8:06And I put out a lot of educational material and you
- 8:09know, there's auntminnie.com that's a great website to read a
- 8:13lot of articles and things like that, you know, to kind of get
- 8:16you in the latest and greatest when it comes to trends in
- 8:18radiology and in CT. OK, so long term growth is you
- 8:22got to make sure you educate your brain when their new
- 8:25protocols learn them, OK, ask questions about them because
- 8:30lots of new stuff come out, it comes out all the time, you
- 8:34know. So make sure you learn them and
- 8:36you educate yourself on them, OK.
- 8:39And like I said, if your facility has, you know, from the
- 8:41different vendors, you know those online educational
- 8:44portals, take advantage of those.
- 8:45Those are free CES guys. So take advantage of that.
- 8:48You know ASRT does a lot of good stuff as well.
- 8:51So make sure you guys take advantage of that to continue
- 8:54your long term growth. OK, so that is what I have for
- 8:58today's episode. So what I want you to take away
- 9:02from this episode is, is I want you to stop guessing.
- 9:06Stop guessing in your CT training because that's not
- 9:09going to help you Start learning with structure.
- 9:11And how you do that is I have an entire course where you can
- 9:15learn that structure. OK, I have a protocol book where
- 9:19you can learn that structure. OK, so make sure you check out
- 9:23the show notes. It is LinkedIn there.
- 9:25So that is what I have for today's episode.
- 9:27So make sure you guys subscribe to the YouTube channel, check
- 9:31out all the links in the show notes.
- 9:33Get in the course, get the protocol book.
- 9:35Make sure you follow on TikTok for all your protocol and CT
- 9:38educational needs. So thank you so much for joining
- 9:41me on this episode. I will chat with you guys in the
- 9:43next episode.
