- 0:02podcast Woo woo. Woo, well, everyone's looking at
- 0:08me weird. I don't know why.
- 0:09Is it a weird? Something weird.
- 0:11People look at you weird that society rule.
- 0:14Yeah, noted. Welcome in to Bangor Management,
- 0:17the fantasy hockey podcast with Jake Josh.
- 0:20And is he gonna lag today, Kevork?
- 0:23No lag, no lag. Today's learning.
- 0:26Yeah, exactly. This one is going to take over.
- 0:30Maybe next time I can order sauces too.
- 0:32Unrelated. Anyway, so you guys won't order
- 0:34one sauce for each like finger? You have shows all.
- 0:39Right, I work a full time job. I can order as many $0.75 sauces
- 0:42as I want. Dollar 30.
- 0:46Oht you know what? That doesn't change it.
- 0:47I can still afford it. Question is is.
- 0:50Really. Actually I can't cancel the
- 0:52order. If my new baby needs to skip a
- 0:54meal, it's own my 3 honey Dijon. All your shift on call fans
- 1:01represent. We just start, they need to
- 1:04start paying us. OK, so today we're going to be
- 1:07doing our week 18 Buy low, sell high trade targets episode.
- 1:12So we got a good one for you today.
- 1:13And as always, you could find the link to our social media,
- 1:16which is in the link tree in the podcast subscription.
- 1:19So Josh, start us off with your buy low.
- 1:22Alright, my buy low for this week is Mikko Rantanen, who I
- 1:25actually did not think would ever be a Bilo because he's been
- 1:28so good for so long. But Randon was part of the one
- 1:31of the craziest trades 2 weeks ago when he got sent to Carolina
- 1:34from Colorado. Since then, as a lot of people
- 1:36expected, his play took a dip because he's no longer playing
- 1:39with one of the best players in the world, Nate Dogg and.
- 1:43I like that he was also the guy we all wanted to marry.
- 1:46If you listened to our last mailbag episode, yeah.
- 1:49Listen. And he's on a team coached by
- 1:51Rod, who is known for making questionable lineup decisions
- 1:53such as? Actually, Josh didn't want to
- 1:55because they wouldn't let him eat ice.
- 1:57Cream. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:58Sorry. Sorry, sorry about the Raptor.
- 2:02Then yeah, so anyway, so the trade obviously took a dip.
- 2:04He's not playing with Nate Dogg anymore.
- 2:06He's on a team coached by Rod, who's known for making
- 2:08questionable lineup decisions. For example, Spatchcock is not
- 2:10on power. Play one right now.
- 2:11Instead, it is Jackson Blake, known elite player Jackson
- 2:17Blake. Anyways, over the past month,
- 2:19Rantanen is only at .64 points per game and .07 power play
- 2:23points. Compare that to a season average
- 2:25of 1.22 points per game and .35 power play points and you can
- 2:29see he's massively underperforming lately.
- 2:31Obviously, there's a clear reason that could explain this
- 2:33big dip, which is the trade, so it's possible ranting owners are
- 2:35panicking and think this is just the player he is now on the
- 2:38Canes. But Rantanen is a top five
- 2:39player in this league and his production shouldn't be
- 2:41dependent on playing with McKinnon.
- 2:43I don't expect him to be as good as he was on the Avs, but I
- 2:45still expect him to be one of the best see assets out there.
- 2:47Rest this season, especially since it takes some time to gel
- 2:50with a new team and develop some chemistry.
- 2:52Now it's probably the only time in the past few years where you
- 2:54have the opportunity to buy low on Rantanen, so I'd be jumping
- 2:57on this chance. I will say also the fact that
- 2:59the Four Nations break is coming up should give them more time to
- 3:02practice together and build that chemistry.
- 3:03So I wouldn't be surprised to see him come out of the break
- 3:06already, like kind of a change. Would do well on the Four
- 3:08Nations so that for showing up his stock you want to buy low
- 3:12kind of before he goes. Off, yeah.
- 3:14And so someone for one targets. I'm curious to see what you guys
- 3:17think of these, but I've got Jason Robertson, Clayton Keller
- 3:20and Tage Thompson, barring injury.
- 3:22Yeah. So of course, the fact that he's
- 3:24playing with Ohio in the Four Nations is tremendously
- 3:26valuable. So that's awesome.
- 3:29The reason I'm lower on Rantin than both of you is mainly
- 3:33because, Josh, you've convinced me that the coaching effect is
- 3:36real. And it is.
- 3:38It absolutely is. It's I've spoken about.
- 3:41This. But what's going to do?
- 3:42He's still going to line 1. Still people.
- 3:43Last five years, only three times as a player on the sorry
- 3:49on Carolina scored more than a point per game.
- 3:52It's been of the three times. It's nobody else.
- 3:54And it's not like he was putting 100 plus.
- 3:56Points, but don't have anybody better than Aho on that team.
- 3:59Now they do. I know, but I still don't buy
- 4:01it. I still don't think he's gonna
- 4:03finish like tremendously high. Yes, your targets are great.
- 4:06I would trade them for Rantanen, that's for sure.
- 4:08I just don't think we're dealing with like first round pedigree
- 4:12rant and at this point to the rest of the season.
- 4:14I mean, I agree with that. I don't think he's necessarily
- 4:16going to be a first round pick easily.
- 4:18Second round though, I think he's definitely a second round.
- 4:20Like would you rather have Rantanen or Mitch Marner?
- 4:25Marner, but it goes right between.
- 4:28You guys? Yeah.
- 4:29What about Kyle Connor? Ranting, ranting in OK.
- 4:32See, that's also I'm I'm on the Ranton inside.
- 4:35Ranting or Jack Hughes? Hughes Why would you rather use
- 4:38over Marner purse out of. Here, Yeah, that's true.
- 4:41Honestly, the the Mariner 1 was closer than I, than I, than I
- 4:44thought. I immediately said Ranton.
- 4:45I think that's the line cause mark goes like late second round
- 4:48in. Your Yeah, I think Marner and
- 4:49Hughes are both are both close, but the way he's playing right
- 4:52now, he's playing like someone way worse than them when he
- 4:54should be on par with them, at least in my.
- 4:56Opinion about. Non face off league.
- 4:58Non face off league. That's tough because I think
- 5:02Ickles been severely underrated. Makes sense he was on Buffalo
- 5:06for so long and they like ruined his value, but that's a really
- 5:09tough one. I'm taking Michael like for
- 5:11sure. I think, I think I might have to
- 5:15go Michael, but that's a close one.
- 5:16But I think, I think Michael is in that same group of like, you
- 5:18know, yeah, high second round. Pick, but do you think the
- 5:21targets are you put are achievable in the one for one
- 5:22trade? I think.
- 5:23Robertson you could definitely do you think, I think if people
- 5:26are very reactive or like more recency bias, Robertson has been
- 5:30unreal. Lately he has I just don't know
- 5:33like I don't have any of my league so I'm trying to picture
- 5:35me as a renter owner. Like am I selling for?
- 5:38If you have. That he's still that top elite
- 5:41guy. Right.
- 5:41Of the three, I said. I think Keller is the least
- 5:43weekly for she's been really good lately though.
- 5:45That's why I added him to the list.
- 5:47But like, I think that's the least likely.
- 5:48I think Robertson and Thompson who have you guys like very
- 5:50similar level of players. I think they could both get it
- 5:54done with how well they've been playing lately.
- 5:55Thompson is so interesting because I feel like if you're
- 5:57trying to buy him, it's impossible.
- 5:59If you're trying to sell him and trade up, it's impossible.
- 6:01Like people, people don't want to take like put stock into him
- 6:05when you're trying to like, level up, but then you're trying
- 6:07to buy him, they're like, oh, he's like, so sick.
- 6:09So I don't understand. Yeah.
- 6:11What about Crosby? Cross Crosby ignoring injuries
- 6:16and if it's a non face off one league, I'm taking.
- 6:20That's kind of where I'm at too. Like I think a lot of guys over
- 6:22Crosby. Though, Yeah, but that's like
- 6:24the devil. Ovechkin, Jake is gonna be like
- 6:28I want Ovechkin. Over, I'll take granted in for.
- 6:30Sure. Yeah, random for sure.
- 6:31Yeah, we'll talk about that one anyway.
- 6:33No, I, I'm. Not I think I.
- 6:36Think there is a window right now to buy him as a second round
- 6:39pick like player and he's playing as the 4th 5th round
- 6:41pick right now so you can definitely tear up.
- 6:43I do think of the ones I said, I think Robertson, really, I
- 6:46really think that could get it done.
- 6:47Reinhart. Take Brandon Reinhart isn't
- 6:50playing that greatly. Reinhart But yeah, I think
- 6:52that's close for me. Yeah, that's a good bar.
- 6:55That's between Crosby and Reinhart, somewhere in that
- 6:57range. But he's equivalent to Marner.
- 6:59I think it's equivalent to Warner.
- 7:00That's what I think. Honestly even pre trade I feel
- 7:03like him and Marner weren't that far apart you know what I mean?
- 7:05Like like pre like pre like at the draft right?
- 7:07Rantanen gets taken like 7th overall, Marner gets taken like
- 7:1012th overall. Yeah, some more in in something
- 7:13like drafts. Like I got, I got money like
- 7:15that. I got mourner like pick like 20.
- 7:17No, you didn't, did I? Yes, you got him in the second
- 7:19round. Oh yeah, but you.
- 7:20But you were third overall in a 12 team league.
- 7:23So yeah, something 20 something. OK, so and Rantanen went like 7
- 7:26or 8, so yeah, but it's not like they're that far apart, you
- 7:29know? So now his value dips a little.
- 7:30So that brings some of it closer.
- 7:32But I think if you can get one of these, like if you can trade
- 7:34one of these like overperforming right now, like fourth round
- 7:36pick type of guys for him, I think it's a huge.
- 7:38One basically the bear case is raw, the bull case is playing
- 7:43with AHO and like kind of a different.
- 7:45There's no way that they trade for rent and then they also want
- 7:47to convince him to stay there. Not gonna bump him on line 3 and
- 7:50be like ohhhhh that's. I just mean that like during
- 7:53the. Four days he's gonna be playing
- 7:54with all his whole time. There, yeah, but he's playing
- 7:58with Aho under Rod system where players don't thrive.
- 8:01Offensively, I will say, like Carolina doesn't have the best
- 8:04playoff schedule. Yeah, they only have three games
- 8:05in. Each neutral walls.
- 8:07It's a neutral one. He's gonna.
- 8:08If they did, I would be targeting him way.
- 8:10Harder he's gonna play in the Four Nations with who and the
- 8:13coach there is not like they're not really being coached in this
- 8:15tournament they're just like going out and doing their best
- 8:17yeah so if they like formulate some sort of chemistry there
- 8:20where they're like not really bound by anything then I think
- 8:22that could be advantageous otherwise like yeah look he's a
- 8:25good player he's gonna do well and these targets are great and
- 8:29hopefully like that could get it done but at the end of the day
- 8:32I'm just not as high on him rest of season it's still definitely
- 8:34level up though for the target to put so yeah we'll see what
- 8:37happens I. Even you who is low on him don't
- 8:41think that he's a point 6.4. Game No, no, no, that's what
- 8:44he's been performing more more in like the one to 1.1 yeah
- 8:47supposed to the 1.2 plus I fully agree.
- 8:49That's kind of where it is, yeah.
- 8:51That's, I mean severely. Under, that's like around there.
- 8:53Yeah, exactly. No, that's fair.
- 8:55OK, Kevin, go for yours. Alright, mine is.
- 8:58I feel like it's been awhile since I've chose somebody on my
- 9:00own fantasy team, but it is defenseman Victor Hedman of the
- 9:05Tampa Bay Lightning. So over the last two weeks, he's
- 9:08been only at zero point three points per game.
- 9:11But we saw him get very hot before these last two weeks.
- 9:14And I think Hedman is still a stud and on a top three power
- 9:16play in the league and come to fantasy playoffs.
- 9:18I can see Tampa really going off and contributing on that power
- 9:21play. I think one of the reasons for
- 9:23his dip in production was Tampa was has overall a lot of
- 9:26injuries. And we just saw like a couple
- 9:28nights ago as well. Like, you know, they lost even
- 9:30more forwards and defensemen, but their decor has been pretty
- 9:33banged up. And they were also playing
- 9:34around the power play units like couch was on both units.
- 9:37Like we see Oviedo in Washington, but we saw Darren
- 9:40Radish that some people one time.
- 9:42So that definitely hinders. He was still producing on the
- 9:45power play, but not obviously at the level of optimal Tampa Bay
- 9:48Lightning power play. But as we speak, they're
- 9:51practicing with their usual power play 1.
- 9:54So that's great to see. So that just means that we can
- 9:57expect the headman production to go back up.
- 9:59I believe he's probably production was at 0.17 and we
- 10:03can expect that to bounce back to 0.350 point, 4 points per
- 10:06game, which is usual. His peripherals have also been
- 10:09consistent, like he's averaging over two shots a game, also two
- 10:11blocks the game. He's never been really a hitter.
- 10:14So that's pretty normal. But Tampa doesn't have an elite
- 10:17playoff schedule. But Hedman is still a fringe top
- 10:20five fantasy defenseman and I think he's very attainable right
- 10:22now for the right price. We can see a lot of these
- 10:25middling kind of defensemen or you know, top ten guys that have
- 10:27been overperforming right now like Adam Fox, Jake Sanderson,
- 10:31who's been really on fire lately.
- 10:33Dougie Hamilton has been on fire.
- 10:34He only has two games in the fantasy championship.
- 10:37Ekblad. We know that how inconsistent
- 10:39Florida power play can be and that that defence been there.
- 10:42Josh Morrissey, I think also the Winnipeg power player hasn't
- 10:45been as great as it used to be. I think all those guys are a
- 10:47little bit hotter than human right now and you can try to
- 10:50flip that. No, I like it a lot.
- 10:52And I think that these targets are really good.
- 10:55I can't really say. I mean, I don't think Ekblad
- 10:57gets it done per. SE No, you probably have to add
- 11:00in a little bit, but he's been pretty hot like that.
- 11:01Florida power play has been better as of Yeah.
- 11:04And I think, yeah, no, I like it.
- 11:06And I think it could all work, all of these, really so.
- 11:09And it's a level up pretty much all I can say about.
- 11:12That yeah, I I fully agree with this as well.
- 11:14I think the shuffling around the power play units was really
- 11:17annoying for Hedman owners and definitely hurt his value.
- 11:20But the fact they're going back to what they should have had the
- 11:22whole time, it didn't make any sense having Darren Raddysh,
- 11:24Victor Hedman on power play one. But the fact that they're going
- 11:27back to that is going to immediately, you're gonna be an
- 11:28immediate return on that. You're playing with Contrave on
- 11:31the power play and like Point and Denzel like this is this is
- 11:33a no brainer. So I think he definitely will
- 11:35bounce back and I would take Hedman over all your targets.
- 11:37So I think, and I think a lot of them could get it done.
- 11:39I think I like Hedman where I draw the line.
- 11:42I think Hedman and Bouchard I think are pretty close to be
- 11:45honest. I think for.
- 11:46Sure, but the Bush is gonna get more shots.
- 11:48But I think, I think Hedman, I bank on the Tampa power play
- 11:51more than other power play right now.
- 11:53It's. Strongly disagree, but.
- 11:54You strongly disagree. Yeah, I think, I don't think
- 11:57it's gonna be a big difference, but I think I think I'm pretty
- 11:59confident in the Oilers power play over the Tampa power play
- 12:03and I think. That's where I draw the line.
- 12:04The difference in shots I think is what really makes it an easy
- 12:07blue Shard for me, but I think that's what I liked about the.
- 12:11Target, but they could be one One behind each other in the
- 12:13rankings though. That's what I'm.
- 12:14Saying I think they could be very close.
- 12:15I think I would definitely take Bouchard overhead, man.
- 12:17But I don't think it's like crazy to have them like in the
- 12:19same tier. That's why I like your targets
- 12:21because they are, they're all like guys who are like big name
- 12:23value, but like I would take admin over.
- 12:25Them and Fox and Hamilton, who I mentioned, also have bad playoff
- 12:28schedules, and that's the time to kind of flip down and get a
- 12:31little bump there. Yeah, this is a good one.
- 12:34And like, I mean, I guess I could kind of add Lane Hudson
- 12:37into that. Some kind of really cooled off a
- 12:40little bit. I think it's really hard to
- 12:43level up there. But if you could pull that off,
- 12:45obviously it would be great. Yeah, absolutely.
- 12:47Yeah, No, Hedman's delete. He's in the lead player.
- 12:50So I really think this is good and it's a good time as well.
- 12:53But yeah, it has to be timed well because the buy low windows
- 12:55probably pretty small. OK, so my buy low for this week.
- 13:02As you can tell they're laughing, which is always a good
- 13:05sign, is Alexander Ovechkin. What?
- 13:09A man is 17 goals away from beating the NHL record so. 17
- 13:15from tying it or from. Beating it.
- 13:16That's why it was. How many empty knuckles is he
- 13:20gonna get between? Now 17.
- 13:23It was 17 goals away from tying it as I was writing this.
- 13:27Post and then he got that buzzer beater empty.
- 13:29Yeah, yeah. So just just wait.
- 13:32Yeah. So basically it's a super
- 13:33exciting time to be alive and even more exciting if you own
- 13:36him on your fantasy team. Insert cool sunglasses emoji
- 13:39here. The reason why I think this is a
- 13:42buy low even though the name value is obviously tough for any
- 13:45manager to sell, is because he's had 0.62 points per game over
- 13:49the past month since returning from injury, which is a
- 13:52considerable outlier compared to how he was doing before the
- 13:55injury this season. He started performing super well
- 13:59again over the past week and as mentioned, I think he's super
- 14:01hard to buy. But I do think that you can sell
- 14:06the OV owner someone with like maybe more name value and still
- 14:10be happy getting Ovi back from now until the rest of the
- 14:13season. This to me is based on 2 broad
- 14:16concepts. So firstly, the Capitals have a
- 14:18pretty nice playoff schedule and like, it's averaged 333 and over
- 14:233430, OK, And OV is the best player on a good team.
- 14:28Two, this is more importantly the fact that not only do the
- 14:31Capitals, like are they determined to have him break the
- 14:34record this season, but I actually think that they're
- 14:36gonna go above and beyond to have him break it in less games
- 14:39than Gretzky. So this means that essentially
- 14:42every empty net goal, every power play opportunity, every
- 14:44goal scoring opportunity, that they can feed him the puck.
- 14:47They're going to send it his way.
- 14:48In fact, like as mentioned, they scored.
- 14:52You just scored an empty net goal as I was writing this.
- 14:54So yeah, this means that they're determined to make him score 17
- 14:57goals in 24 games, which seems insane, but I think that if
- 15:01anyone can do it, it's the GOAT. And yeah, as mentioned, these
- 15:05names may seem like a little bit of an overpay.
- 15:07I think Kevin thinks they are, and we'll see what Josh has to
- 15:09say about that. But I think I'd rather have OV
- 15:12over the following names. So Panarin, Rantanen, Marner,
- 15:16Nylander, I would rather take over you.
- 15:19Alright, I I agree with everything you said until the
- 15:23last sentence. The targets.
- 15:25I I agree with the entire thought process behind it.
- 15:28I think he's a great buy low. He's been underperforming.
- 15:30I agree that they're going to force him every single goal
- 15:33opportunity and I wouldn't be surprised to see him break the
- 15:35record in under time. So I think he's a great buy low.
- 15:38I do think that the the targets, I prefer having any of these
- 15:42targets over Ovechkin ignoring playoff schedule.
- 15:44But I'm not though with playoff schedule.
- 15:47The thing is that it's not like has that great of a playoff
- 15:49schedule like that. He has one more game than
- 15:52Rantanen in the finals and then he has one fewer game than the
- 15:55Leafs in the quarter in semis, but then two more games in the
- 15:58finals. So it kind of like balances out
- 16:00to similar amount of games played.
- 16:02And then Panera has a terrible playoff schedule.
- 16:04So I'll give you that one, but it's not like that much better
- 16:07that it makes it like such a huge.
- 16:09Difference, yeah. I just want to say one thing
- 16:10though, right? So that's 17 over the next 24
- 16:13over the next 24 games. That's before the playoffs are
- 16:16finished. So that means that throughout
- 16:18the duration of like the playoffs, it's also going to be
- 16:21like they're going to want to put them up to 900 plus, you
- 16:24know what I mean? So it's milestone after
- 16:25milestone. And he doing anything other than
- 16:27scoring goals, like he's gonna get shots and hits, but he's
- 16:30gonna get any assists. His hits have honestly been like
- 16:33less than you would expect. He's hitting around the one per
- 16:36game as opposed to in previous years it was over 2.
- 16:39The thing is, he's already getting fed all these
- 16:42opportunities. It's not like it's like now he's
- 16:44a 17 away, he's going to kick in and now they have to really put
- 16:49the emphasis on that. They've been feeding him the
- 16:51whole season because he's so close already.
- 16:52So I don't really see like I think he's on page.
- 16:54I think he's gonna break it. But I think those guys are
- 16:57giving are over all-encompassing better fantasy assets and you
- 17:01don't have to give that level of player.
- 17:03I think to get OV like people love Ovie.
- 17:06Obviously, you know, the classic power forward in fantasy and I
- 17:09agree with everything you said as him as a buy low.
- 17:11It was just. I think you can probably feel
- 17:12like you can use. The same targets that I used in
- 17:14my ranting and buy low like you can use Robertson, Thompson or
- 17:17Keller. I think like those are all good
- 17:19targets for. I was thinking that and I just,
- 17:22I don't know, I don't think it gets done.
- 17:24Because if they offered, if someone offered you Robertson
- 17:26for Ovi right now, barring your emotional connection to watching
- 17:29the record, you would take that in a heartbeat.
- 17:31Like if you go. Look at Robinson could get more
- 17:33points than Ovi straight. Up yeah, he will get more
- 17:35points, I think points, but he's gonna do better like back cats
- 17:38and. If you're in a category leagues,
- 17:39the goals aren't way more valuable than the assists or
- 17:42points in general. If you're putting a lot of goals
- 17:46are worth more, but in a lot of leagues it's the same thing
- 17:48whether to go learn assist. So I think, I think the targets
- 17:51are too high. I think you can get them for
- 17:53less. I think if you want to get use
- 17:55these targets, you can get OVA plus, which is not a bad trait.
- 17:58I think that's solid. I think in a one for one these
- 18:00aren't overpay. Yeah, it it may be an overpay,
- 18:05but I still think I'd rather have.
- 18:07I have both Marner and Ovi and. And you rather have Ovi.
- 18:11There's no way. Like doubling him in points.
- 18:14Yeah, especially over the past month, which is why what I'm
- 18:16saying. But why would you give guys
- 18:19getting double his points? Because before the injury, he
- 18:22was at like 1.2 to I think points per game Ovechkin.
- 18:27And then he's severely slowed down.
- 18:29And then like I think that that pace can continue.
- 18:32Like this is, this is the year that he's gonna just destroy
- 18:36fantasy for. The rest I don't think you need
- 18:37to pay this much. Yeah, yeah, I think.
- 18:39You could get him for a decent amount less than these guys.
- 18:42So like even if you think you prefer over to these guys, which
- 18:46I don't think Kevin and I agree with, but I think it could be
- 18:49close. I don't think you have to do
- 18:51this. I think you could get him for a
- 18:52lower tier player. Yeah, Anyway, look, I mean like,
- 18:55I guess like you obviously want to aim lower, but I.
- 18:58I think if push comes to shove, you're willing to use these
- 19:00guys. Especially Nielander.
- 19:01And like, I mean, Panera is interesting because funerals,
- 19:05yeah. Yeah, because Panera doesn't
- 19:07have the category coverage and he has a really bad playoff
- 19:10schedule. Yeah, I'd consider.
- 19:13It the only reason that I'm wary of Panarin, not enough to make
- 19:16me not agree with it. I do think out of the four, he's
- 19:18the one I'd be most willing to give, but the fact after the
- 19:20Miller trade, I think he's really, yeah, turn things on and
- 19:22has already started being a lot better.
- 19:24There's that. But I agree he doesn't have the
- 19:26cat coverage and he has a terrible playoff schedule.
- 19:28So I'll give you Panarin Ranton and I just mentioned on much
- 19:30higher than him on you are. So makes sense why we disagree
- 19:32on that one. And then Marner and Nylander.
- 19:34Marner for sure. I wouldn't.
- 19:36I think Marner's an elite, elite guy.
- 19:37I think he could honestly be a late first round pick.
- 19:40Should have been late first round.
- 19:41Pick and Neil Andrew I'm not as high on as Mariner, but I still
- 19:44think he's very good. Yeah, I guess I was just being
- 19:47diplomatic by putting one of my guys in there March.
- 19:50I was just like saying that I think that me always even more
- 19:53valuable, but Marner is the one I'm highest on of these, but the
- 19:56others, I have no problem doing it.
- 19:58Martin would be a bit tough, but yeah, yeah.
- 20:00Anyway, it's fun. I'm glad you guys at least agree
- 20:02with the reasoning. So that's good.
- 20:04But yeah, cool. So let's move on to your cell.
- 20:06Hi, Josh. Alright, my cell.
- 20:07Hi, Sorry Jake, because this is a guy.
- 20:09On your actually, sorry Kevin, let's just skip over Josh.
- 20:13My cell high is Zach Werenski, no Hagas Werenski.
- 20:18He's unreal and he's having an incredible season and he's
- 20:21showing he deserves to be in the Norris conversation and I think
- 20:24he's gonna be a top tier fantasy asset for years to come.
- 20:26That's this team is coming. He could win the Norris He and
- 20:29really like, I don't think this is a one off year for him.
- 20:31I think the only thing that's kind of insulting him back for
- 20:34years has been one, injury troubles and two, he just hasn't
- 20:37had the best supporting cast. But I think with the emergence
- 20:39of Marchenko and kind of just the whole team full of young
- 20:41guys kind of coming into their own and him staying relatively
- 20:44healthy this year, I think like he's where he should be.
- 20:46So this is no knock against Lansky, but on that same kind of
- 20:51topic, in the past month he's actually doing slightly lower
- 20:53than his overall season average he's at, which is 1.08 points
- 20:57per game and .36 power play points, 3.8 shots and 1.7
- 21:00blocks. So normally I wouldn't recommend
- 21:02a guy as a sell high when he's doing lower than his season
- 21:05average because clearly that's a sell low, which we don't do
- 21:08anymore. The more the larger team.
- 21:11That's why exactly. So normally this would be a
- 21:14strange time to suggest sell hot, selling high, but I think
- 21:16that although we're is really good and having an amazing year,
- 21:19a part of that has to be attributed to the incredible
- 21:21breakout season that Kirill Marchenko has been having for
- 21:23Columbus. And with the recent news that
- 21:25Marchenko will be out six to eight weeks, which is
- 21:27essentially the rest of the fantasy season, I think
- 21:29Warenski's point in power play totals will take a dip and now
- 21:31is the perfect time to sell them before that becomes noticeable.
- 21:33So again, this is not a knock on Renski at all, but I think you
- 21:37look at any player who plays with another amazing player.
- 21:39If that other amazing player goes out, like look at Capri of
- 21:41injury, I think that immediately makes everyone else on that team
- 21:43worse, you know? Yeah, you have to take that into
- 21:45account. And the target I'm putting here
- 21:47are really top tier guys, you know, So I'm looking at, you
- 21:49know, Roman Yosi, Hughes is probably a stretch, but you
- 21:52could do Arensky plus for Hughes, Dalene, Bouchard.
- 21:55I think you can get like other than Hughes, I think you could
- 21:58probably get some like maybe any of these guys, one for one for
- 22:01Arensky. And I think you should because I
- 22:04think like the Marchenko injury I think is a really big hit.
- 22:07I guess it really depends on, you know, I'm looking forward to
- 22:11hearing your opinions on that, how much you think that will.
- 22:12Affect your cider. Oh.
- 22:16That's tough because they're very different kind of player.
- 22:20I still think, I still think we're Anski.
- 22:22But that's close. Yeah, I agree with you with the
- 22:25Hughes concept of it being kind of out of out of potential, but
- 22:31what I would rather the guys you mentioned.
- 22:33So I have Dalena and Werenski and I think I'd rather Werenski
- 22:37personally, but I see why now. Bouchard's interesting because I
- 22:41really think his offence has taken a turn positively.
- 22:43So it's tough because Darlene, I almost put it in the different
- 22:47archetype conversation. Almost, almost.
- 22:49You know what? I.
- 22:50Mean, of the four I listed, plus Werenski, Dalian is the one
- 22:54who's like a different archetype.
- 22:55Yeah, Bouchard, Hughes, the OC, Werenski are all the same.
- 22:57Yeah, you know, points shots. Blocks.
- 22:59That's funny cause you have Yoshi and Bouchard.
- 23:01Yeah, both OK. I think rest of season I'm
- 23:05actually higher on Bouchard. I'm just like really impressed
- 23:07with the fact that it's a good sign when a player.
- 23:09Makes you feel a trade, Bruin. Why wouldn't do this?
- 23:12I said. This is my.
- 23:14That would be one for one. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:17Oh God, here we. Have yet to see see.
- 23:19The Josh trade for the year. I don't know.
- 23:21My girlfriend's gonna let me trade with Josh again.
- 23:23So I don't think my wife will let me change.
- 23:27That's true. Giving birth.
- 23:30What are you freaking out about? Don't worry about it.
- 23:35But yeah, no, I think I do agree with the with the OC Bouchard
- 23:39ones. I'm happy keeping Werenski
- 23:40though over those guys. But reliability factor in this,
- 23:44I do think it's safer to get Yoshi and Bouchard in return.
- 23:47So yeah. I think it really depends on
- 23:49what how much you think the Marchenko injury is going to
- 23:51affect. Him yeah because like this is
- 23:53very unique and they. Keep dropping players too.
- 23:55Yeah, at some point he's not playing with the same.
- 23:57Guys anymore, no, I know and like you usually think that the
- 23:59defenseman is somewhat separated from a forward and that it
- 24:02wouldn't really affect a line made.
- 24:03It's obvious and in this case. We all know that Columbus was
- 24:07due for some regression as well, because they were all playing
- 24:08like yeah, crazy. Above one point per game pace,
- 24:11Yeah. Would have been shocking if
- 24:13they. Ended, I will say, if you like a
- 24:14month ago, you offer me where asking for Yoshi or Bouchard.
- 24:16I probably would take it now, I wouldn't take it, but I don't
- 24:19think people have necessarily reached that point yet.
- 24:21Like I've reached out because I have this my kind of opinion on
- 24:24the marching country. A lot of people, you know, will
- 24:26just look at Wronski season average and see how unreal he's
- 24:29been and see, you know, Yoshi, you know, hasn't been as great
- 24:32as expected. You know, Bouchard obviously
- 24:33turned it on recently, but not necessarily as good as expected
- 24:36thing with like Jolene. Yeah.
- 24:37So I think those could get done. And like these guys plus my car,
- 24:41it's like the the most elite point scoring defenseman in the
- 24:43league. Right.
- 24:44Should have added Mccart here as a target because my car is
- 24:46actually been pretty poor. He's just impossible to trade
- 24:48for because everybody knows the best.
- 24:50Yeah, yeah, that's true. But honestly, like my car would
- 24:53have been a better target than he was because like, Hughes has
- 24:55been better than my. Car.
- 24:56Yeah, that's true. Anyway, it's a good one.
- 24:59It's a good one. Should we move on to Kevins?
- 25:02Yes, Sir. I'm so thrilled to talk about
- 25:05this and Josh is equally thrilled because this is a
- 25:08player that I've hated on the whole season for the exact
- 25:11reasons why Josh traded him away from his team, except he
- 25:13couldn't have that opinion until he was off his team.
- 25:16But I'm. Too emotionally invested?
- 25:18It is Jesper Brat of the New Jersey Devils.
- 25:21So yeah, Josh was finally able to trade Jasper Brett and then
- 25:24coincidentally, I add him as myself high to do everybody else
- 25:27the favor of listening to my advice.
- 25:29Well, yeah, New Jersey. First of all, let's start with
- 25:32the playoffs because New Jersey plays two games in the Week 24
- 25:34championship so I'm already want to move away from all of their
- 25:37kind of assets to level up there.
- 25:40Brad is averaging 1.4 points per game over the last two weeks and
- 25:43I expect his points projection to be between 0.9 to one point
- 25:46per game rest of season, so he's already playing well above that
- 25:50and selling him shouldn't be too hard.
- 25:52He has also produced for a large part of the season and New
- 25:54Jersey has also played the most games all year which contributes
- 25:57to his high rank. When you're opening your fantasy
- 25:59app and you're seeing where guys running season total, all the
- 26:02New Jersey guys are kind of over what they should be expected
- 26:05because they've played so many games.
- 26:07And that's that's a, you know, a good negotiation, negotiation
- 26:11factor to use when you're leveraging your trade.
- 26:15So all of that together, I'd really be looking at getting a
- 26:19player that's a tear up at the minimum, a lateral move that
- 26:22helps you in the playoffs that has a better playoff schedule.
- 26:24And plus his shot volume is also pretty low.
- 26:26He doesn't score many goals anymore.
- 26:28It's mostly assist. So I think now is the perfect
- 26:29time to move off of him. And I'd trade four guys like
- 26:33Marshall, Gensel, Boldy, if you want to do like Josh.
- 26:36If you're looking across position, I try to add a
- 26:39defenseman that you can target, maybe weaker and Tim Stutzel.
- 26:42I think all these guys have better playoff schedules and are
- 26:45just better NCS. It's overall.
- 26:46It's crazy cause I feel like the name value, I really prefer Brad
- 26:50to Marsha so but in reality I see why it logically makes sense
- 26:54to do this now. And also just to say that Marsha
- 26:57so and Gensel right next to each other there is mind boggling,
- 27:00you know what I mean? So I just think there's kind of
- 27:03a different tier there, like if you were to sell Brad for
- 27:05Marsha. So I think that gets done easily
- 27:07the others. I have Marshall would not take
- 27:10Brett. Yeah, you hate Brett.
- 27:12Yeah, Marshall gets way more shots, hits and he's been like
- 27:17really good at points so. I just wonder if Gensel is
- 27:20attainable. I think that's kind of a bit of
- 27:22a step above just. Cuz I mean, Brad has been really
- 27:24good. Four points per game.
- 27:25Yeah, I would do this, by the way, like for all these targets,
- 27:29I think it's really good. I just think that the the Gensel
- 27:32owner may have some issues. With these very attainable.
- 27:35These very attainable so it's just not being that good wigger
- 27:39it's that's a. Position, yeah, Cross position.
- 27:41I think I like it like a top five to seven defensemen.
- 27:45Like he's that second best category guy.
- 27:48Also on people, one for Calgary, third best.
- 27:51I would put I'd say dalene, then cider, then weaker.
- 27:54I think Wiggers better for Dandali in terms of like being a
- 27:58category guy just because he's getting like Overdose 2, those
- 28:02two blocks and hits. But obviously I take Darlene
- 28:04over Wigger. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:06So my opinion on this, I mean, obviously I agree on this.
- 28:08Oh, I've been trying to sell high on him all year and I
- 28:11finally did so. So you're agree with?
- 28:14It I cannot picture him regressing.
- 28:16He's so good. Look at this New Jersey power
- 28:18plant. And they go like scoreless for a
- 28:19month. Yeah, you're like ohhhhh.
- 28:21No, I will say his like archetype of player is like kind
- 28:24of a frustrating hold in in bangers leagues because he
- 28:27really doesn't do anything other than points in power play
- 28:30points. He I expected him to shoot a lot
- 28:32more when I drafted him this year.
- 28:33Like in in the past, he's doing like a three shot, one hit guy,
- 28:35you know, which is like that's exactly what you want from your
- 28:38point for game player. You know, three shot, one hit,
- 28:39even if they're putting up points, you're happy with them.
- 28:41But then he's been shooting at like two shots or less and just
- 28:45not really doing any backpacks when he when he goes on like a
- 28:48dry spell of no points, it's really frustrating.
- 28:50Not that that's happened much. He's been great for points all
- 28:52year and I was happy with him on my team.
- 28:54It was just a very frustrating own and a clear cell high when
- 28:56he's hitting those points. So I agree with your point
- 28:59about, you know, getting selling him high in terms of the
- 29:02targets. I agree with all of them other
- 29:03than Marsha. So I think you may have a bit of
- 29:05a bias because you own Marsha. So and I think Marco has been
- 29:08super hot lately. So I think you have to kind of
- 29:09take out the the recency of it all.
- 29:12And obviously Marcos better for the back cats, which makes him,
- 29:14you know, less frustrating on schedule, though, and the
- 29:17playoff schedule is massive. But I just think that you can
- 29:19get Brit Marceau plus for brat. I wouldn't.
- 29:21I don't think the one for one is maximizing your value.
- 29:25So that's the one I don't necessarily agree with.
- 29:28We're going to love. They've been pretty similar in
- 29:29production. Though, Yeah, but that's like
- 29:31recently, you know, if you look at March.
- 29:32For months, long time for sure, only use assets.
- 29:35Having them on your team for a month like you get used to that
- 29:37level also. Just believe in New Jersey a lot
- 29:39more than I believe in Nashville, who's one of the
- 29:40worst teams in the league this year.
- 29:42And like, you know, yeah, it's crazy.
- 29:45We've been talking about this like every week.
- 29:46And it's like, I think it started to set in a couple weeks
- 29:48ago that this was just like, so they were going to be the
- 29:50season. Yeah.
- 29:50And it's wild. But yeah, so.
- 29:52But I mean, I can't fault you for putting that because if you
- 29:54look at their numbers next to each other over the past month,
- 29:56it makes perfect sense. So I think they're easier.
- 29:58I think I think that's better. But but I could see that being
- 30:02like a decent one. And then all the other ones I
- 30:03think is a huge one if you. Think the Marshall is kind of
- 30:05like a lateral move with better players, better playoff
- 30:08schedule, Yeah. Yeah, I could see that.
- 30:10Yeah, cool. Alrighty, so my cell high.
- 30:14Other than the fact that he's got an awesome first name, it's
- 30:19just been he's just been overperforming.
- 30:20So it's Jake Sanderson on the Ottawa Senators.
- 30:25They have been on a tear over the past six game, six games in
- 30:28Sanderson is like he's legit been a monster, posting 10
- 30:32points over that span. He was drafted to be an elite
- 30:35defenseman and I really like how the Senators have consistently
- 30:38gone back to him and given him solid ice time and power play
- 30:41one over pretty much his entire NHL career.
- 30:44This crazy pace simply won't continue, though.
- 30:47I really like the idea that the sends are going to be fighting
- 30:50for a playoff spot till the end of the season.
- 30:52Generally, players on those teams are the best fantasy
- 30:54outfits to own. One guy won like I think almost
- 30:59a three Peter, a three-peat at the beginning because he was he
- 31:02had Kucherov when Talbot was fighting for a playoff spot.
- 31:04I remember that was that was crazy.
- 31:06So anyway, but yeah, so the Senators also have a really good
- 31:10playoff schedule. And I think that this can be
- 31:12another big incentive for someone else to buy him from
- 31:14you. So really checks off a lot of
- 31:16boxes. But I just think that you can
- 31:18level up to a more reliable, consistent and proven fantasy
- 31:21asset. And if you're willing to sell
- 31:23Sanderson, even the playoff schedule and the fact they're
- 31:25fighting for the playoffs in real life does factor into his
- 31:29favor. Now is probably the best time to
- 31:31sell. So some good targets.
- 31:33This one's an overreach, I will admit it, but he hasn't been
- 31:36amazing all year. He's really just turned it up
- 31:38recently. So the first one I got is
- 31:39Bouchard, but the rest, I think it's like totally realistic.
- 31:44It's Sergachev, Hedman and Seth Jones.
- 31:47I said, Seth, just in case, you know, maybe you thought I was
- 31:49talking about Kaleb. So thank you.
- 31:52For the clarification, I have to change all of my opinions.
- 31:55Yeah, I agree with everything, everything you said here.
- 31:58I actually was trying to buy low on Sanderson six games ago
- 32:01before, before this, I sent an offer of Vince and Jordan
- 32:05Binnington for Sanderson, which at the time I think was an
- 32:07overpay and it got rejected and then something popped off.
- 32:11So obviously, you know, now it looks like, like I was trying to
- 32:15like steal him or whatever. But no, I think he's a great
- 32:17sell high cause he's just been unreal.
- 32:19And other than the Bouchard, which I think is a stretch, I
- 32:22think all the others can get done and would be great
- 32:24upgrades. Yeah, I agree with everything
- 32:26you said. I think I'd rather have
- 32:27Sanderson over Seth Jones rest of season.
- 32:30Have you looked at Seth Jones like last?
- 32:31Month. I know he's been unreal, he's
- 32:33been nuts. But Ottawa has the playoff
- 32:34schedule and I bank on Ottawa being a good team longer than
- 32:39Chicago. A bit of a tangent, but do you
- 32:41put any stock in possible Seth Jones trade?
- 32:43Rumors I do put stock just burst before you guys you were like I
- 32:47don't think that like you guys were just like I'm not putting
- 32:50stock into a potential. Trade, no, I remember that and I
- 32:52stood by it. But I recently I recently saw a
- 32:55rumor of Seth Jones to Dallas which makes sense with the
- 32:57Heskin. And it does it without that.
- 32:59Entry Spicy. And they could hold some cap to
- 33:02yeah. So so that one, if Jones goes to
- 33:05Dallas, he becomes a top, top tier defenseman to me, including
- 33:08the playoff. Schedule for sure.
- 33:09Yeah, I think that's Seth Jones. I think it would put him in the
- 33:14realm of Sanderson, of what Sanderson can be rest of the
- 33:17season on a Ottawa team that's, you know, clicking, that's
- 33:19strong and that has a good playoff schedule.
- 33:21But John Scott? Crazy backcast.
- 33:22Yeah, Jones has a better is definitely better for block
- 33:25specifically and. Hits.
- 33:27I agree that Jones on Chicago I might prefer Sanderson, but
- 33:30Jones on Dallas I'm taking over Sanderson.
- 33:32For sure, yeah, but. The other ones like you're
- 33:35definitely. Taking for sure, For sure.
- 33:36I would trade centres in for Bouchard, for circuit chip, for
- 33:39Hedman, absolutely. Yeah.
- 33:41And I think again, Bouchard I think is a bit out of surf and
- 33:44had been, I really think I get. Done.
- 33:45I mean, we just, I mean, I just said.
- 33:49Yeah, exactly. We finish each others sound
- 33:51traps. One of these days we're gonna
- 33:54get. One of these days we're gonna
- 33:56get it. But yeah, so no, I think it's a
- 33:59solid 1 and really I think it's gonna be an amazing defenseman
- 34:03in the future and we're going to be talking about.
- 34:04Him in this wouldn't say that for multiple years at this.
- 34:06Point This is his breakout year he's been.
- 34:08Really. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:09But like next year, like I do think be a point per game guy,
- 34:13like it's not unrealistic. It really obviously depends on
- 34:15how the team as a whole is, but I think he's shown the potential
- 34:18to be one of these top tier #1D in fantasy.
