- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another tiny lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. Today we're going shopping again, but not for food or clothes. Luna: Oh, what are we buying? Lucas: A backpack. In Swedish, en ryggsäck. Luna: En ryggsäck. Say it again? Lucas: Ryggsäck. Rygg means back, säck means sack. So a back sack. Luna: That makes sense. Ryggsäck. I feel like I'm back in school. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if you walk into a store, you might say: Jag skulle vilja ha en ryggsäck. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en ryggsäck. That's 'I would like to have a backpack.' Lucas: Perfect. Let's hear it once more. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en ryggsäck. Lucas: Great. Then you might ask about the price. Hur mycket kostar den? How much does it cost? Luna: Hur mycket kostar den? Den meaning 'it'? Lucas: Exactly. Den is 'it' for common gender nouns. Ryggsäck is common gender. Luna: Hur mycket kostar den? So that's a standard price question. Lucas: Yes. And if you have a color preference, you can ask: Har ni någon i blått? Do you have one in blue? Luna: Har ni någon i blått? Blått is blue for ett-words, right? Lucas: Actually, here blått is the adjective form for 'blue' when it's neuter. But 'en ryggsäck' is common, so you'd say 'en blå ryggsäck'. But saying 'i blått' is fine for the color. Luna: Okay, so Har ni någon i blått? Lucas: Perfect. Then when you see it, you can say: Får jag titta på den? May I look at it? Luna: Får jag titta på den? That's polite. Lucas: Yes. And if you decide to buy: Jag tar den, tack. I'll take it, thanks. Luna: Jag tar den, tack. Simple. Lucas: Let's run through them all. First, the opening. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en ryggsäck. Lucas: Then ask the price. Luna: Hur mycket kostar den? Lucas: Ask about color. Luna: Har ni någon i blått? Lucas: Ask to see it. Luna: Får jag titta på den? Lucas: And finally, buy it. Luna: Jag tar den, tack. Lucas: You sound like a pro. Let's imagine you're in a store. You see a nice blue backpack. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en ryggsäck. Lucas: The shop assistant shows you one. You ask. Luna: Hur mycket kostar den? Lucas: They say 500 kronor. You want to check color. Luna: Har ni någon i blått? Lucas: They bring a blue one. You say. Luna: Får jag titta på den? Lucas: You look it over. You like it. Luna: Jag tar den, tack. Lucas: Excellent. Now, if you've been finding these episodes useful, we want to mention something.
