- 0:09Speaker 1: Were Luke eight two through twenty six. And when you
- 0:18Speaker 1: have it, say man.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Now.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It happened on a certain day that he got into
- 0:29Speaker 1: a boat with his disciples, and he said to them
- 0:33Speaker 1: watch this, let us cross over to the other side
- 0:36Speaker 1: of the lake.
- 0:39Speaker 2: And they launched out.
- 0:42Speaker 1: But as they sailed, he fell asleep, and the windstorm
- 0:51Speaker 1: came down on the lake, and they were filling with
- 0:54Speaker 1: water and were in jeopardy. And they came to him
- 1:03Speaker 1: and awoke him, saying.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Master, Master, we perish.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Then he arose and rebut the wind and the raging
- 1:16Speaker 1: of the water, and they ceased, and there.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Was a calm, calm.
- 1:24Speaker 1: There's something good about a calm. You can't pay for
- 1:29Speaker 1: a calm. And he said under them, where is your faith?
- 1:36Speaker 1: And they, being afraid, wondered, saying one to another, what
- 1:40Speaker 1: manner a man is this? For he commanded even the
- 1:44Speaker 1: winds and water, and they obey him. And they arrived
- 1:53Speaker 1: at the country of the Gatherines, which is over against Galilee.
- 2:01Speaker 1: They got there, somebody say they got there. I want
- 2:05Speaker 1: to talk from the subject steady in the storm, steady
- 2:14Speaker 1: in the storm. Anybody can be steady when there is
- 2:19Speaker 1: no storm. But the Lord spoke to me to share
- 2:25Speaker 1: with you about being steady. Not hysterical, not frantic, not anxious,
- 2:36Speaker 1: not fretful, but steady in the storm. Looks bad, looks tough,
- 2:46Speaker 1: but remain steady in the storm. You are closer to
- 2:51Speaker 1: there than you have ever been before. And in order
- 2:58Speaker 1: to get there, you must be you. I'm not talking
- 3:05Speaker 1: about the boat. You must be steady. The true, the
- 3:16Speaker 1: true skill set of a leader is to be steady
- 3:24Speaker 1: in the storm. I used to tell my kids and
- 3:26Speaker 1: my wife and said, I tell them all the time.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Don't you get scared till I get scared. Don't you
- 3:33Speaker 1: get nervous till I get nervous. Don't you pany till
- 3:36Speaker 1: you see me, panny. If you see my eyes buked,
- 3:40Speaker 1: buck your eyes. But as long, spirit of the Living
- 3:56Speaker 1: God fall fresh on us right now, I feel you already.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I thank you for your presence and your glory. Let
- 4:02Speaker 1: something transformative happened today in this building, with this people,
- 4:07Speaker 1: with the people that are streaming online. There are some
- 4:09Speaker 1: people that are streaming online, Lord, who are in the
- 4:13Speaker 1: middle of a storm and a blessing. They got a
- 4:17Speaker 1: word from God and a storm. Everything's rocking and reeling,
- 4:24Speaker 1: and going crazy at the same time that they know
- 4:27Speaker 1: they got Jesus, and you are speaking to them to
- 4:32Speaker 1: be steady when everything around them is going crazy. Penetrate
- 4:40Speaker 1: every natural propensity to panic and anoint them with steadiness, tranquility,
- 4:53Speaker 1: even rest, even sleep. Let them be steady in the
- 5:01Speaker 1: storm in Jesus' name. Amen, I want to talk to you.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I was flying back. I was in Washington on Thursday.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I did a empowerment session for a business conference on
- 5:16Speaker 1: Saturday morning. I got on the plane Saturday afternoon to
- 5:20Speaker 1: fly home to get in Saturday night to preach Sunday morning.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And the pilot came out and he said, in order
- 5:28Speaker 1: to get you from Miami back to Dallas, we're going
- 5:30Speaker 1: to take you out across the water. So I want
- 5:33Speaker 1: to give you the instructions myself. He said, if we
- 5:37Speaker 1: go underwater, don't try to go out the big door.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Don't do that. He said, go out the small exits
- 5:45Speaker 1: in the back. There are life rafts under your seats,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and there we catch on fire. There's there's fire extinguishers here, here,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and here. Now, always give you that stuff. But he
- 5:59Speaker 1: went into a little bit too much detail. Yeah, he
- 6:04Speaker 1: went into a little extra detail, you know, But I
- 6:09Speaker 1: thought how amazing it was that they were prepared for
- 6:14Speaker 1: all types of calamities before they came. If the cabin
- 6:21Speaker 1: loses pressure, we're prepared for that. If it catches on fire,
- 6:24Speaker 1: we're prepared for that. If it goes underwater, we're prepared
- 6:28Speaker 1: for that. If we pass out and die, we're prepared
- 6:31Speaker 1: for that. With any inevitable situation, we've got guidance to
- 6:35Speaker 1: bring you in. We're gonna get you home. The problem is,
- 6:41Speaker 1: most things start out calm. The flight started out calm.
- 6:47Speaker 1: My flight started out calm. The disciples on the sea
- 6:51Speaker 1: was Jesus started out calm. Jesus gave them one command,
- 6:56Speaker 1: let us cross over to the other side. But God
- 7:01Speaker 1: is not big on details. He tells you we're going
- 7:08Speaker 1: to the other side, he does not tell you what's
- 7:12Speaker 1: going to happen on the way. And the reality of
- 7:17Speaker 1: the thing is this guy who did this video could
- 7:22Speaker 1: have took it, taken his own ticket, and gone home
- 7:26Speaker 1: and not had that experience. As horrific as that is.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And that sounds like really horrific to me for both
- 7:35Speaker 1: my pallets to pass out, and I'm want to say hello, hello,
- 7:39Speaker 1: that that's not a good hello that for me would
- 7:41Speaker 1: be a very smelly hello. When I got down, I
- 7:48Speaker 1: wouldn't want anybody to come get me out because this
- 7:52Speaker 1: would be personal. Okay, yeah, I would be in a
- 7:55Speaker 1: bad way. There are things that scare the living daylights
- 8:00Speaker 1: that you on the way. It's not the takeoff that
- 8:08Speaker 1: you have to be concerned about, because most things take
- 8:12Speaker 1: off good. Most marriages take off good, Most business ventures
- 8:18Speaker 1: take off good. Most little babies start out good. They
- 8:25Speaker 1: so cute, They just cute.
- 8:29Speaker 2: They don't try to be cute, they just cute.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They don't try to have dimples, they don't put on makeup,
- 8:34Speaker 1: they don't do nothing, They just late cute. The takeoff
- 8:39Speaker 1: is always great. It's the things that happen in the
- 8:45Speaker 1: middle that are the most disruptive. It's the things that
- 8:51Speaker 1: happen in the middle that challenge your ability to be steady. Now,
- 8:59Speaker 1: I know could have bypassed all of that and followed
- 9:02Speaker 1: his and my mother would saying, followed his first mind
- 9:06Speaker 1: and went on in a conventional way and avoided that.
- 9:09Speaker 1: But look at what he would have missed learning. He
- 9:15Speaker 1: learned some things about God, he learned some things about life,
- 9:19Speaker 1: He learned some things about discipline. He learned some things
- 9:22Speaker 1: about obedience that only the storm can teach you. Listening
- 9:31Speaker 1: that podcast can't really teach you how to handle the
- 9:35Speaker 1: storms that come in your life because you're listening. You're listening,
- 9:41Speaker 1: but you're not really listening till it's you. I continue
- 9:47Speaker 1: all day long about grief, and you can say, oh,
- 9:50Speaker 1: bless the Lord, I'm praying for you. But when it
- 9:52Speaker 1: happens to somebody you love, you say, oh my God,
- 9:55Speaker 1: wait a minute, hold on, Jesus, Lord him. I said,
- 9:59Speaker 1: I don't know if I I don't know if I
- 10:01Speaker 1: can make it through this. And most of the time,
- 10:05Speaker 1: most of the time, our trauma triggers other traumas, and
- 10:12Speaker 1: our reaction to the trauma is compounded by the other
- 10:18Speaker 1: things that happened along the way.
- 10:21Speaker 2: And there you.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Are in a crisis, in a storm, and you're trying
- 10:26Speaker 1: to get to.
- 10:28Speaker 2: The other side. I'm trying to get there.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I don't know about you, but I'm trying to get
- 10:34Speaker 1: there wherever there is, wherever God has predestined for me
- 10:40Speaker 1: to go. I want you to notice that He determined
- 10:43Speaker 1: the end from the beginning. He said, let us cross
- 10:47Speaker 1: over to the other side before they ever even started.
- 10:51Speaker 1: He knew where he wanted to go before they pushed
- 10:54Speaker 1: off into the water. He knew where he wanted you
- 10:58Speaker 1: to go before you and your mama's belly. He knew
- 11:02Speaker 1: what he had predestined for you to do before you
- 11:05Speaker 1: ever took your first day at school and your mama
- 11:08Speaker 1: walked you down to the bus station trying to make
- 11:10Speaker 1: sure you had your pants on straight and your lunch
- 11:13Speaker 1: money in your pocket or your lunch snatchel. Before all
- 11:17Speaker 1: of that stuff I started, he had predestined for you
- 11:20Speaker 1: to go to a place, but in the process of
- 11:26Speaker 1: getting there, storm surriders. We're talking to a friend of
- 11:32Speaker 1: mine the other day about he was writing a book
- 11:36Speaker 1: about marriage and he been married about three years and
- 11:40Speaker 1: it kind of like, I know, I'm getting old and
- 11:44Speaker 1: getting a little fogy and stuff like that, but it
- 11:47Speaker 1: kind of got on my nerves. It's not that he's
- 11:51Speaker 1: not smart enough to write a good book, but you
- 11:55Speaker 1: ain't got there yet. You have and hit the storms,
- 12:02Speaker 1: the inevitable storms. I'm not saying you picked a bad choice.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Has yet to be determined. I'm not saying she picked
- 12:09Speaker 1: a bad choice. Has yet to be determined. You'll find
- 12:12Speaker 1: out who you got in the storm. You hire people
- 12:22Speaker 1: to be in a position, and the resume is amazing,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and the interview is great, and the first few weeks
- 12:31Speaker 1: on the job they're impeccable.
- 12:34Speaker 2: But you don't know who you got.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Till you get in a storm, till the pressure applied,
- 12:43Speaker 1: until they have to do something after work, until they
- 12:47Speaker 1: are inconvenienced, until they're in crisis mode and they're stressed
- 12:52Speaker 1: out and they're talking about hello, hello, hello, Hello, Hello,
- 12:57Speaker 1: hello hello. The one thing that we all have in common,
- 13:00Speaker 1: black or white, rich or poor, Democrat or Republican, short
- 13:06Speaker 1: or tall, vegan or.
- 13:14Speaker 2: A foodie.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I don't care what philosophy you choose to fly up under.
- 13:21Speaker 1: The one thing I can guarantee you that all of
- 13:24Speaker 1: us will face. Male or female is a storm. Single
- 13:30Speaker 1: or married is a storm. Divorced or not is a storm.
- 13:38Speaker 1: There is nobody you're going to meet or greet, or
- 13:42Speaker 1: fall in love with or fall out of love with
- 13:46Speaker 1: that will avoid the fact that storms are built into
- 13:51Speaker 1: God's plan for getting you to the other side.
- 13:56Speaker 2: You have to know that he.
- 14:01Speaker 1: With a fire extinguisher and a life raft and an
- 14:05Speaker 1: emergency exit and a door that moves and an automated
- 14:09Speaker 1: system and a microphone, and that even when you can't
- 14:13Speaker 1: see him, you can hear him. And if you will
- 14:16Speaker 1: follow his voice, you will get to the other side.
- 14:23Speaker 1: The problem he is. Storms are noisy and they're loud,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and they're disruptive, and there's so many people screaming and
- 14:33Speaker 1: a hollering it, and people are saying a whole back,
- 14:36Speaker 1: and people are saying push through, and people are saying
- 14:39Speaker 1: turn the wheel, and somebody else is saying grab the rudder,
- 14:42Speaker 1: and somebody else is saying, throw the weights of off,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and somebody else is saying, cass anchor, and somebody else
- 14:49Speaker 1: is saying put up the sail. And you're standing there.
- 14:51Speaker 1: You don't know whether to put up the sails, throw
- 14:53Speaker 1: the anchor cans. It's out the dinner and the real
- 14:59Speaker 1: art I have learned and so far in the storm
- 15:03Speaker 1: is not fixing the storm. The first thing we do
- 15:08Speaker 1: when we get in the storm is to try to
- 15:11Speaker 1: fix the storm. The storm is not yours to fix.
- 15:18Speaker 1: The storm is yours to survive. You cannot fix the storm.
- 15:26Speaker 1: That's number one. You cannot fix the storm. You cannot
- 15:31Speaker 1: fix the storm. And this drives you crazy. And I'm
- 15:35Speaker 1: gonna make a generalization. It's not always true, but I'm
- 15:38Speaker 1: gonna make it anyway. But it's particularly difficult for men
- 15:42Speaker 1: because we are raised to fix stuff.
- 15:47Speaker 2: We grew up fixing stuff. Women grew up.
- 15:49Speaker 1: A lot of women grew up with relationships with dogs,
- 15:52Speaker 1: with doll babies, playing the house, all that kind of stuff.
- 15:55Speaker 1: You grew up with that kind of stuff. We grew
- 15:57Speaker 1: up fixing stuff. Most of us didn't give us the
- 16:00Speaker 1: all babies they probably should have. Maybe we'd have been
- 16:05Speaker 1: better fathers if we had have practiced with babies. We
- 16:08Speaker 1: practiced making them better than we did have it, so
- 16:14Speaker 1: maybe we would have been better. But they gave us tools,
- 16:16Speaker 1: and they gave us stuff to build, and they gave
- 16:18Speaker 1: us stuff to fix. And so whenever you give us
- 16:20Speaker 1: a problem, we want to fix it because we feel
- 16:23Speaker 1: like we're a failure if we don't fix it. And
- 16:27Speaker 1: there are some women who feel that way too. You
- 16:29Speaker 1: feel like you failed if you don't fix it. If
- 16:32Speaker 1: your daughter doesn't turn out the way you wanted her
- 16:34Speaker 1: to turn out, if your son doesn't turn out the
- 16:36Speaker 1: way you want it, if your marriage doesn't turn out
- 16:38Speaker 1: the way you wanted to turn out, you lose self
- 16:41Speaker 1: esteem because you feel like it's your fault because you
- 16:44Speaker 1: can't fix it. And you're embarrassed to admit to other
- 16:48Speaker 1: people that you're on your third marriage and that you
- 16:51Speaker 1: can't fix it. And you're embarrassed to admit to other
- 16:53Speaker 1: people that you have been here a year and gone
- 16:56Speaker 1: through three jobs and you.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Can't fix it.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And I came to tell you every storm that comes
- 17:02Speaker 1: your way is not your job to fix. I'm gonna
- 17:10Speaker 1: let that sink in a little bit, because a lot
- 17:13Speaker 1: of you pride yourself on being able to fix people,
- 17:16Speaker 1: and that's why you pick out fixer uppers, because you
- 17:23Speaker 1: think you're so good at fixing stuff that you are
- 17:28Speaker 1: drawn to people who are fixer uppers so that you
- 17:33Speaker 1: feel needed and you can fix them up. You are
- 17:39Speaker 1: not on this boat to fix this storm. When they
- 17:46Speaker 1: set sell everything was cool, Jesus is taking a nap
- 17:52Speaker 1: because this is an important trip. This is an important
- 17:56Speaker 1: trip because to cross over the Sea of Galilee and
- 18:00Speaker 1: go to the other side was to go to Galeries.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Not just that the man was possessed with demons, but
- 18:05Speaker 1: the man who was possessed with demons was a gentile
- 18:09Speaker 1: and getting the Gospel over to the Gentiles was a
- 18:12Speaker 1: very important trip. It was a prophetic trip Jesus experiencing
- 18:19Speaker 1: the Jews on one side and the Gentiles on the
- 18:22Speaker 1: other was a prophetic picture of what was going to
- 18:25Speaker 1: happen to the early Church. The early Church were going
- 18:29Speaker 1: to start being offered to the Jews and consequently end
- 18:33Speaker 1: up going to the Gentiles. It was going to start
- 18:36Speaker 1: out being based in Jerusalem and end up based in Rome.
- 18:40Speaker 1: The church was going to take the same journey that
- 18:43Speaker 1: the boat did. The Church is the boat, the sea
- 18:51Speaker 1: is the world. And here we are trying to navigate
- 18:55Speaker 1: the Church through the tempests of the world. And the
- 19:00Speaker 1: boat has one culture and the sea has another culture.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And we are in it though we're not of it,
- 19:08Speaker 1: and we have to survive it being in the middle
- 19:11Speaker 1: of it, because even though we're not of it, we
- 19:13Speaker 1: are still in it. And we get tossed and beat
- 19:16Speaker 1: to and fro because we can't get the boat to
- 19:20Speaker 1: work without putting it in the water. And the church
- 19:24Speaker 1: doesn't work without the world. The Church doesn't work without
- 19:32Speaker 1: the world. Every time the Church has tried to escape
- 19:35Speaker 1: the world, we've made fools of ourselves. If you know,
- 19:39Speaker 1: church history. There are many times we've gone up on
- 19:41Speaker 1: the mountain to wait for Jesus. We've colonized and moved
- 19:45Speaker 1: out and become cultish to wait on Jesus. Any time
- 19:49Speaker 1: the boat tries to escape the sea, it ends up
- 19:52Speaker 1: embarrassed because the boat only works in the sea, and
- 19:59Speaker 1: the church only in the world, and the world is unpredictable.
- 20:05Speaker 1: One text can change the next ten years of your life.
- 20:11Speaker 1: One phone call can change how the rest of your
- 20:15Speaker 1: day goes. One text and you're trying to book a
- 20:19Speaker 1: flight to get out of here on the next flight possible,
- 20:21Speaker 1: to get to someplace that you never expected to get
- 20:23Speaker 1: to as quickly as you could, because all of.
- 20:25Speaker 2: A sudden, a storm hits you.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Storms don't always warn you that they're coming. It's not
- 20:32Speaker 1: like they send out a notice and say you're getting
- 20:34Speaker 1: ready to get on a boat and all hell's gonna
- 20:35Speaker 1: break loose. Oh, about fifty fathoms out into the water,
- 20:39Speaker 1: you're gonna run into the worst time of your life.
- 20:41Speaker 1: You're gonna think you're gonna die. Oh. Once you get
- 20:44Speaker 1: so high in the air, the pilot is gonna pass out,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and you're gonna be scared out of your wits and
- 20:49Speaker 1: you're gonna almost lose your mind.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Oh, you're gonna.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Have a baby, and the baby's gonna die in your arms,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and you're gonna be sadder than you ever been in
- 20:56Speaker 1: your life. You're gonna lose all three of your first pregnancies.
- 21:00Speaker 1: You're gonna your husband is gonna leave you for your girlfriend,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and your sister, your auntie, your cousin, run off with
- 21:06Speaker 1: your mama. Nobody. You don't get to pick. Oh, you
- 21:13Speaker 1: think that's funny. You think that's funny, don't you. Yeah,
- 21:17Speaker 1: you think that's funny. But that's happening. That's happening. That's happening.
- 21:24Speaker 1: That's happening, that's happening all around you. Nobody gets to
- 21:27Speaker 1: tell you that your beautiful bride is gonna fall in
- 21:30Speaker 1: love with a beautiful bride and leave you home alone.
- 21:34Speaker 1: He ha ha ha ha, But it's happening. And how
- 21:47Speaker 1: do you sit down at the sports bar and tell
- 21:52Speaker 1: your boys you lost your girl to a.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Girl, But it's happening.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You don't get to pick the storm you face. Peter
- 22:09Speaker 1: didn't ask for this storm, He didn't vote for the storm.
- 22:13Speaker 1: He didn't have a meeting with God and say, oh, God,
- 22:17Speaker 1: I want to deal with leukemia. I pick leukemia. What
- 22:21Speaker 1: do you want? Do you want to go blind or
- 22:23Speaker 1: would you prefer leukemia? How about losing a couple of toes.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Would you rather lose your family or lose your toes?
- 22:32Speaker 1: Would you rather lose your leg or lose your sight?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Would you rather lose your mind or just lose your memory?
- 22:38Speaker 1: Which you don't get to pick what life is going
- 22:42Speaker 1: to hand you. You cannot control the storm. And to
- 22:47Speaker 1: all those control freaks which come in both genders, you
- 22:51Speaker 1: have a special degree of trauma because the only time
- 22:54Speaker 1: you feel safe is when you're in control. And what
- 22:59Speaker 1: binds together the story between the airplane and the boat
- 23:03Speaker 1: is both of them face the season of being totally
- 23:06Speaker 1: out of control. And I confess to you, I hate it,
- 23:13Speaker 1: absolutely hate it. I don't want to be in something
- 23:17Speaker 1: I can't control. I don't want to be in a
- 23:20Speaker 1: plane because I can't fly it. And if you can't
- 23:24Speaker 1: fly and I can't fly.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I don't want to go. I don't want to.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Operate on myself because I'm not trained to do it.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I don't want to be picked for a job I
- 23:35Speaker 1: can't perform. I want to know clearly what the expectations
- 23:39Speaker 1: are for me before I get the job, because I'd
- 23:44Speaker 1: rather give you the check back than to take the
- 23:48Speaker 1: money and disappoint you because I can't deliver what you're
- 23:53Speaker 1: asking for. And when you're in a storm, the big
- 23:56Speaker 1: question in your mind is do I have it takes
- 24:01Speaker 1: to stand against this storm? Do I am I equip?
- 24:05Speaker 1: Am I fully equipped? Can I get my hand on
- 24:08Speaker 1: my life? Fest? Can I swim out of here? Can
- 24:12Speaker 1: I withstand how cold this water's going to be? Can
- 24:15Speaker 1: I make it through at my age? Can I make
- 24:18Speaker 1: it through at my stage? Can I make it through
- 24:20Speaker 1: at this moment in my life? Can I make it
- 24:23Speaker 1: through after all the other stuff we've been through? After all,
- 24:26Speaker 1: we were busy before we got on the boat. We
- 24:28Speaker 1: were journeying before we got on the boat. Oh hell,
- 24:31Speaker 1: it broke loose before we got on the boat. And
- 24:34Speaker 1: now I'm on the boat and I'm so tired that
- 24:36Speaker 1: Jesus has gone to bed. This is not a good
- 24:40Speaker 1: time to have a storm.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I want to.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Talk to some real people who were tired before it
- 24:46Speaker 1: ever even started.
- 24:47Speaker 2: All hell was.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Breaking loose before it ever evening started. And you know,
- 24:51Speaker 1: if Jesus went to bed, Peter was sleepy, cause everywhere
- 24:56Speaker 1: Jesus had been, Peter had been the worst time to
- 25:00Speaker 1: have a storm is when you're already tired. That's why
- 25:04Speaker 1: the enemy waits till you're tired. He wastes till you
- 25:08Speaker 1: burned out. He wastes till you're frustrated. He wastes till
- 25:11Speaker 1: you out AGAs. He don't jump on you when you're fresh.
- 25:15Speaker 1: He don't jump on you when you're feeling strong. He
- 25:18Speaker 1: don't jump on you when you got it all together.
- 25:21Speaker 1: He wastes till you are exhausted and you feel like
- 25:24Speaker 1: if one more thing hits me, I am going to
- 25:28Speaker 1: lose it up in here. And that's when the storm comes.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Over and over and over and over and over and
- 25:44Speaker 1: over here over from Old Testament to New Testament. There's
- 25:47Speaker 1: one consistent phrase you see over and over again. And
- 25:51Speaker 1: it came to pass, and it came to pass, and
- 25:56Speaker 1: it came to pass after many days. Jesus was in
- 26:00Speaker 1: that's ary, and he came to pass that Ezekiel found
- 26:03Speaker 1: himself in the valley, and it came to pass. And
- 26:06Speaker 1: what you don't realize is that phrase is not just
- 26:10Speaker 1: a lead into the story. Every storm that ever hit
- 26:18Speaker 1: the planet came. Let me try to side over here,
- 26:28Speaker 1: maybe I can find a little bit more afraid. Every
- 26:31Speaker 1: storm that ever hit the planet, no matter how fierce,
- 26:34Speaker 1: no matter how devastated, no matter how many homes were destroyed,
- 26:38Speaker 1: no matter how many people died in it, they always come.
- 26:44Speaker 1: They give them new names, they give them different names.
- 26:47Speaker 1: They run out of alphabet for Hurricane Ira, Hurricanozo, Hurricane Mabel,
- 26:53Speaker 1: Hurricane I don't care what you call it. It's still
- 26:56Speaker 1: a hurricane. And no matter how severe, no matter how terrible,
- 27:01Speaker 1: no matter how many lives were lost, dogs were lost,
- 27:04Speaker 1: horses were lost, people were lost, families were lost, it
- 27:09Speaker 1: still comes to pass. One of the saddest stories I
- 27:14Speaker 1: heard in Katrina. I was down there with the men
- 27:17Speaker 1: that were pulling people out of the houses. One of
- 27:20Speaker 1: the saddest stories was so much water had filled up
- 27:23Speaker 1: the apartment that the dresser had pinned the father up
- 27:27Speaker 1: against the wall, and he had a little baby, and
- 27:30Speaker 1: he was holding the baby up in the air. And
- 27:34Speaker 1: they found him him and the baby dead. And he
- 27:38Speaker 1: was trying to keep his child alive in the storm,
- 27:49Speaker 1: dining with his arm extended, trying to minimize the loss
- 27:56Speaker 1: of the storm. Storms as fierce as that.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Are over.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Hundreds of thousands of people dead, But the storm is.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Over.
- 28:20Speaker 1: How many times in your life have you gone through
- 28:24Speaker 1: some of you thought you wasn't gonna make it. Where
- 28:29Speaker 1: are my real people at this morning? Where are my
- 28:32Speaker 1: real people at this morning? You remember Fred Sanford when
- 28:39Speaker 1: he grab and says, he say, oh, this is the
- 28:41Speaker 1: big one. I had grabbed my chest so many times.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I should have a handprint on my chest because I sware,
- 28:48Speaker 1: Oh my god, this is a big one. I'm never
- 28:50Speaker 1: gonna make it out of this. Oh God, this is
- 28:53Speaker 1: to me. I can't handle it. I can't take it.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I can And half of the stuff that broke my
- 28:59Speaker 1: heart and brought me to tears and almost drove me crazy,
- 29:02Speaker 1: I can't even remember. I can't even remember. I can't
- 29:08Speaker 1: even remember what I was so frantic about. I can't
- 29:11Speaker 1: remember why I was so frank.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I can't. It's in my rear view mirror.
- 29:15Speaker 1: But in that moment, in that second, when that storm
- 29:19Speaker 1: hits and your feet get wet, and the boat starts
- 29:22Speaker 1: filling filling up with water, and Peter, who is an
- 29:26Speaker 1: experienced sailor, doubts can I be steady in the storm.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I've had some tough storms. I'm not without storms. I've
- 29:44Speaker 1: had storms. I've had storms on camera. I've had storms
- 29:49Speaker 1: in people's face. And I learned that what I have
- 29:53Speaker 1: to do is be steady in the storms. Can I
- 29:58Speaker 1: talk to you this morning. I never will forget when
- 30:02Speaker 1: we were doing our first Megafest, and you have to understand,
- 30:05Speaker 1: I'd never done it before. My pastor hadn't done it before,
- 30:08Speaker 1: none of my pastor friends had ever done it before.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Everybody thought I was crazy to do it.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I was upstairs in the conference room when we came
- 30:15Speaker 1: up with the name Megafest. We really wanted manifest, but
- 30:19Speaker 1: somebody else had that name, so we ended up calling
- 30:21Speaker 1: it Megafest. I had a vision for which I had
- 30:24Speaker 1: no name, So you remember when the event occurred. I
- 30:31Speaker 1: remember when the name came. I named my vision, and
- 30:38Speaker 1: then I got in the vision and it was working,
- 30:43Speaker 1: and nobody knew for sure whether it was going to
- 30:45Speaker 1: work or not. It was working, but it didn't feel
- 30:48Speaker 1: good working because I could not get away from the fact,
- 30:53Speaker 1: do you really have what it takes to pull this off?
- 30:58Speaker 1: Eighty six thousand men had registered not to mention the men.
- 31:04Speaker 1: We were over one hundred some thousand people the Georgia Dome,
- 31:07Speaker 1: the World Congress Center of the Phillips Arena.
- 31:09Speaker 2: We're all jammed and packed. I should have been happy.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I wasn't.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I was sick, I was nauseated, I was worried. I
- 31:16Speaker 1: was afraid. Did we forget anything? I remember we had
- 31:19Speaker 1: to pay three hundred thousand dollars just for insurance because
- 31:23Speaker 1: we had ten thousand children. Yes, because you gotta have
- 31:31Speaker 1: your life, yes, and you gotta have your fire hydrant.
- 31:34Speaker 1: You can't jump into this and be faint of heart.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Stop wishing for other people's stuff because you don't understand
- 31:40Speaker 1: all the things they have to put into it to
- 31:42Speaker 1: be ready to handle it. So it's the night before
- 31:53Speaker 1: the press conference that leads up to it, and Jordan,
- 31:56Speaker 1: we had three hundred different press outlets from as far
- 32:01Speaker 1: away as the London Times to the New York Times
- 32:05Speaker 1: to all over the world. And I'd never done a
- 32:08Speaker 1: big press conference like that. And the Devil said, they
- 32:13Speaker 1: gonna eat you up in the morning. They gonna have
- 32:17Speaker 1: you for breakfast in the morning. You might as well
- 32:20Speaker 1: come over there with a coffee pot, because you are
- 32:23Speaker 1: going to be the muffin so frantically. About two thirty
- 32:30Speaker 1: three o'clock in the morning, I called my PR person
- 32:33Speaker 1: and I just went nuts. I just went nuts. I
- 32:37Speaker 1: just said, this is crazy, this is stupid. Wasn't the
- 32:40Speaker 1: well a we're doing? What were we thinking about? We
- 32:41Speaker 1: should have never got into this. We don't have to
- 32:43Speaker 1: add no press comments, we don't need no press coming.
- 32:45Speaker 1: This is city of today. And then I don't know.
- 32:49Speaker 1: And she said to me, I hope she's watching right
- 32:51Speaker 1: there to see she was just going on. She said
- 32:53Speaker 1: this to me, Bishop James. She said, the whole world
- 33:01Speaker 1: has turned its head to hear what you have to say.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Do you have to say anything or not? And I
- 33:14Speaker 1: hung up the phone and I thought, is that what
- 33:17Speaker 1: this is? All I saw was what could go wrong,
- 33:23Speaker 1: and all she saw was what could go right. I
- 33:33Speaker 1: called her about my agony. She told me my agony
- 33:37Speaker 1: was my opportunity, and all of a sudden, my perspective
- 33:44Speaker 1: about the storm changed, because it is your perspective that
- 33:50Speaker 1: has to change. If your perspective doesn't change, you will
- 33:56Speaker 1: misunderstand that God allowed the storm to give you an
- 34:00Speaker 1: experience that nobody else ever got to have In all
- 34:05Speaker 1: of their lives, so that you would know him in
- 34:07Speaker 1: a way that other people never knew him because you
- 34:11Speaker 1: went through something that other people didn't know. You want
- 34:13Speaker 1: an uncanny annoyinging, Go through an uncanny storm. You want
- 34:18Speaker 1: an uncanny influence, Go through an uncanny storm. You want
- 34:22Speaker 1: to uncanny influence and do an uncanny storm. You don't
- 34:26Speaker 1: get this by wishing for it. You don't get it
- 34:29Speaker 1: by getting on your knees for it. You don't get
- 34:31Speaker 1: it by me putting the oil on your head for it.
- 34:34Speaker 1: You get it after you suffered a while. The Bible said,
- 34:37Speaker 1: I'll establish you and make you perfect. There are no
- 34:41Speaker 1: shortcuts to the storm. Hallenujah. That girl paid a price
- 34:45Speaker 1: to sing that song. She paid a long price. The
- 34:48Speaker 1: song was not nearly as long as the sickness. But
- 34:55Speaker 1: if she hadn't have been sick, she wouldn't have gotten
- 34:57Speaker 1: the song. So you couldn't bless millions of people if
- 35:03Speaker 1: you didn't go through months and months and months and
- 35:05Speaker 1: perhaps years of utter agony to sing a three minute song.
- 35:10Speaker 1: But it was a storm that put an annoying in
- 35:13Speaker 1: your voice to minister a healing that you couldn't have
- 35:17Speaker 1: gotten any other way. Whether you hear what I'm talking
- 35:21Speaker 1: to you about. And I'm talking to you because some
- 35:24Speaker 1: of you are right smack dab in the middle of
- 35:28Speaker 1: your storm.
- 35:30Speaker 2: And this is not a.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Time to fate, and this is not a time to
- 35:34Speaker 1: give up, and this.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Is not a time to die.
- 35:38Speaker 1: The man said, I can't fly, but I can talk.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Hello.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Hello, Hello. I don't know etiquette. I don't know what
- 35:47Speaker 1: I'm supposed to say.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I don't know what to do. Hello.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Sometimes God takes you through something that you don't hit
- 36:00Speaker 1: of a point of reference for that it looks like
- 36:05Speaker 1: you got it together, and nobody helps you because it
- 36:10Speaker 1: looks like you got it together, and you are scared
- 36:13Speaker 1: out of you mud, You are nervous as all get out.
- 36:18Speaker 1: You got the worst case of diarrhea that you have
- 36:21Speaker 1: ever had since you were two months old, and nobody
- 36:25Speaker 1: knows that. I'm just keeping it real. I'm not talking
- 36:34Speaker 1: about that little bit of stress where your hands are shaken.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I'm talking about that kind of stress where your bowels
- 36:39Speaker 1: are disrupted and you can't sleep at night, and you're
- 36:42Speaker 1: walking looking out talking to yourself, and you're looking out
- 36:46Speaker 1: into the night and you're wondering if this is Oh,
- 36:48Speaker 1: this is a big one. Agna, I'm coming home. I'm
- 36:51Speaker 1: gonna die, and God sent me to tell you to
- 36:55Speaker 1: be steady in the storm. Third thing, you didn't cause
- 37:05Speaker 1: the storm. The storm is not your fault. It's not
- 37:09Speaker 1: like Peter went in the wrong direction. It's not like
- 37:13Speaker 1: this guy knew that this guy was gonna pass out
- 37:15Speaker 1: on the plane.
- 37:16Speaker 2: You did not cause the storm.
- 37:18Speaker 1: So stop allowing that voice to accuse you, because Satan
- 37:23Speaker 1: is an accuser of the brother, and he will say
- 37:25Speaker 1: you brought this on yourself. You're a fool. You shouldn't
- 37:28Speaker 1: have never done it. You must have lost your mind.
- 37:31Speaker 1: What is it about you that made you think you
- 37:32Speaker 1: could do something that big? You must be crazy. You
- 37:35Speaker 1: must have known. Storms come to everybody, annoyed people, save people,
- 37:41Speaker 1: unsaved people, backslitting people, horrish people, straight people, gay people,
- 37:47Speaker 1: cute people, ugly people, fat, bowl legged people. Everybody has storm.
- 37:53Speaker 1: What made you think that you would be exempted from
- 37:57Speaker 1: going through storms? Everything that I know about God that matters,
- 38:12Speaker 1: I learned it not in a concordance, not even in
- 38:16Speaker 1: a scripture. I learned it all in a storm. I
- 38:23Speaker 1: learned it all on the cliff, on the edge of
- 38:29Speaker 1: the cliff about to die, so sick I could throw up,
- 38:34Speaker 1: and wondering if I would live to see another day.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Everything I learned about God that mattered came through a crisis,
- 38:43Speaker 1: not a promotion, not an advancement, not a check in
- 38:47Speaker 1: the mail, not the accolades. A man that don't teach
- 38:50Speaker 1: you Jack going through sickness and pain and chaos and
- 38:55Speaker 1: trouble and heartbreak and disgrace, had embarrassment, had frustrate and
- 39:00Speaker 1: humiliation and depression and grief unbearable. Everything I ever learned
- 39:06Speaker 1: about the Lord is my shepherd. I learned it in
- 39:10Speaker 1: a storm. I learned it in a fight. I learned
- 39:14Speaker 1: it in a crisis. I learned it when the odds
- 39:17Speaker 1: were against me. I learned it while they were talking
- 39:19Speaker 1: about me like a dog. I learned that while they
- 39:21Speaker 1: were rolling their eyes. I learned it while they were
- 39:24Speaker 1: blogging about me. I learned that while they were lying
- 39:27Speaker 1: on me. Who am I preaching to? And the word
- 39:35Speaker 1: of the Lord is to stay steady in the storm,
- 39:40Speaker 1: don't back up, don't give in, don't give up, don't retreat,
- 39:44Speaker 1: don't run from people. Don't worry about what they think.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Their opinion is not your victory. Changing their mind is
- 39:54Speaker 1: not the crown that you're going to wear. People gonna
- 39:58Speaker 1: think whatever they're gonna think. People are gonna say whatever
- 40:01Speaker 1: they're going to say. Don't be distracted into trying to
- 40:06Speaker 1: manage a storm that wasn't yours in the first place.
- 40:13Speaker 1: What you have to do, this is a little bit
- 40:16Speaker 1: I've learned, is to be steady in the storm. And
- 40:23Speaker 1: I asked myself when I read the text, I say,
- 40:25Speaker 1: when Jesus, when they woke up Jesus, Jesus didn't just
- 40:30Speaker 1: rebuke the winds and ways.
- 40:32Speaker 2: He rebuked Peter.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I said, well, now, Lord, wait a minute, what did
- 40:39Speaker 1: Peter do wrong? You told us to pray with our Caesar.
- 40:46Speaker 1: You were sleep. All Peter did was wake you up.
- 40:53Speaker 1: What did Peter do wrong that made Jesus rebuke Peter?
- 41:01Speaker 1: Number One, Peter forgot the power of his presence. Peter
- 41:11Speaker 1: was addicted to Christ's performance and not his presence. Had
- 41:19Speaker 1: Peter recognized the power of his presence, he would have
- 41:23Speaker 1: known that the storm was lying because there was no
- 41:27Speaker 1: way that Jesus could be drowned. Not the one who
- 41:31Speaker 1: said I come that you might have life and have
- 41:33Speaker 1: it more abundantly the very fact that Jesus is still
- 41:37Speaker 1: with you is a sign that the storm.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Is a lie.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I don't know how you're gonna make it out. I
- 41:43Speaker 1: don't know whether you're gonna float out on pieces. I
- 41:45Speaker 1: don't know if you're gonna float out on a raft.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I don't know if you're coming out on a boat.
- 41:50Speaker 1: But as long as you got your annoy any baby,
- 41:52Speaker 1: when all is said and done, the presence of God
- 41:56Speaker 1: is enough to take you through anything. Hallelujah. Can't your
- 42:06Speaker 1: neighbor and say Jesus is on the boat. The other
- 42:11Speaker 1: thing that Peter did wrong. Peter is in charge, and
- 42:15Speaker 1: Peter became hysterical and he started acting like he wasn't
- 42:19Speaker 1: in charge of what he was in charge of. And
- 42:23Speaker 1: what God wanted Peter to learn was how to be
- 42:28Speaker 1: steady in the store. You gotta be steady in the store.
- 42:34Speaker 1: You can't be a leader if you're not steady in
- 42:36Speaker 1: the store. You can't run in a hide and be
- 42:38Speaker 1: a leader. You gotta be steady in the store. Tears
- 42:42Speaker 1: may be running down your face, but you got a
- 42:44Speaker 1: hold onto that wheel.
- 42:46Speaker 2: You'll never glee.
- 42:47Speaker 1: You'll never get out if you let go on the
- 42:48Speaker 1: wheel and by the way, the storm ain't that bad.
- 42:53Speaker 1: There was water in the boat, but it wasn't enough
- 42:55Speaker 1: water to wake come Jesus. And Jesus was asleep at
- 42:58Speaker 1: the bottom of the boat. So if the storm had
- 43:03Speaker 1: been that bad, how come the water didn't wake up Jesus.
- 43:06Speaker 1: But the enemy has a way of amplifying trouble in
- 43:10Speaker 1: your mind to make you think that it's worse than
- 43:13Speaker 1: it really is. And you panny because the devil knows
- 43:17Speaker 1: his storm can't take you out. It's your fear that's
- 43:21Speaker 1: gonna take you out. And what God is trying to
- 43:24Speaker 1: teach you to do. I'm talking to somebody. I don't
- 43:27Speaker 1: know who it is, but God is saying, be steady.
- 43:31Speaker 1: All hell is breaking loose, Be steady. Your emotions all
- 43:35Speaker 1: over the place. Be steady. Your enemies are everywhere. Be steady.
- 43:48Speaker 1: You gotta be steady in the storm. You gotta be
- 43:52Speaker 1: steady when.
- 43:53Speaker 2: They like you.
- 43:54Speaker 1: You gotta be steady when they don't like you. You
- 43:57Speaker 1: gotta be steady when it's in Hosannah. You gotta be
- 44:00Speaker 1: steady when they say crucified. You gotta be steady at
- 44:03Speaker 1: the wedding. You gotta be steady at the funeral. You
- 44:06Speaker 1: gotta be steady when things are up. You gotta be
- 44:09Speaker 1: steady when things are Now, don't take your hand off
- 44:13Speaker 1: that wheel, Calm, hell.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Of high water. Hold on to.
- 44:17Speaker 1: The wheel and keep on aiming for the other side.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Keep aiming for the other side. Keep your eyes on
- 44:25Speaker 1: where you're trying to go, and aim for the other side.
- 44:37Speaker 1: The third thing Peter did wrong is he failed to
- 44:40Speaker 1: believe that he had what it takes to get through
- 44:43Speaker 1: what he was facing. The fact that Jesus rebuked him
- 44:49Speaker 1: for waking him up means I equipped you with enough
- 44:54Speaker 1: stuff to make it through this storm. This was not
- 45:00Speaker 1: a storm for me to rebuke. This was a storm
- 45:06Speaker 1: for you to rebuke. And you are asking me to
- 45:12Speaker 1: do what I have called you to do. Behold, I
- 45:17Speaker 1: give you power. I give you power.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Over the enemy.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I give you power over what's happening in your life.
- 45:24Speaker 1: I give you power over what they said about I
- 45:26Speaker 1: give you power. I give you power, And you're giving
- 45:29Speaker 1: up the power when you're frantic and frustrated and you
- 45:34Speaker 1: allow your emotions to control your decisions. I cannot afford
- 45:41Speaker 1: to call an emotional leader because you're gonna have to
- 45:44Speaker 1: preach for me on the day of Pentecost, because you're
- 45:47Speaker 1: gonna have to spread the word into cities that don't
- 45:50Speaker 1: believe in you, because ultimately you will be crucified upside down.
- 45:55Speaker 1: And I need to know when I commission you to
- 45:57Speaker 1: go that come a hell of high water, you will
- 46:00Speaker 1: hold fast to your profession of faith and don't pany
- 46:05Speaker 1: The storm was just a test in a controlled environment
- 46:09Speaker 1: to prepare you for what I'm about to do in
- 46:12Speaker 1: your life. Who am I talking to? I'm preaching to somebody,
- 46:17Speaker 1: the Holy Girl said. Be steadying the store. Don't back up,
- 46:21Speaker 1: don't give me in, don't faint, don't collapse. You may
- 46:25Speaker 1: have to get on the walkie talkie. You might not
- 46:28Speaker 1: know the right language, you might not use the right word,
- 46:31Speaker 1: but survival is the ultimate goal. Be steadying the storm.
- 46:36Speaker 1: I don't know what you call it, but hello, Hello, Hello,
- 46:40Speaker 1: Can you hear me? If I'm preaching to you? Shout
- 46:48Speaker 1: in this house. Almost every day in my life I
- 47:00Speaker 1: got people telling me what all went wrong. Very very
- 47:04Speaker 1: seldom do they call me determine what we're right. They
- 47:07Speaker 1: always called me, determine what went wrong, And so a
- 47:11Speaker 1: constant bombarding. If we got a problem we don't have
- 47:15Speaker 1: this result, we don't have that result, we don't have
- 47:17Speaker 1: the other result. After a while, it feels like a
- 47:19Speaker 1: tsunami coming from every direction. And when they get a
- 47:25Speaker 1: moment with you, they quickly get to what's wrong because
- 47:30Speaker 1: I don't get to talk to you often, so let
- 47:32Speaker 1: me get right to it, like you're not even human.
- 47:37Speaker 2: They don't even ask me how am I?
- 47:40Speaker 1: Are you having a good day to day? Is this
- 47:42Speaker 1: a good time to have a conversation. Let me tell
- 47:45Speaker 1: you what I need. Let me tell you what I need.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Let me tell you what it takes. Let me tell
- 47:53Speaker 1: you what's going on. Let me tell you that. And
- 47:55Speaker 1: what I learned is that I cannot react to the stimuli.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I have to keep a steady head so that I
- 48:08Speaker 1: can make a calm, calculated, accurate decision. And I can't
- 48:16Speaker 1: make an accurate decision off of one person's opinion, because
- 48:22Speaker 1: every time I made a decision off of one person's opinion,
- 48:26Speaker 1: I had to go back and fix it because I
- 48:28Speaker 1: found out they didn't tell me everything. So my word
- 48:37Speaker 1: as a leader is to be sober and be vigilant
- 48:43Speaker 1: for your enemy. Goeth about as a roaring line watches.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Seeking whom he made. If he's seeking whom.
- 48:52Speaker 1: He made devour, that means there's somebody he can't devour.
- 48:56Speaker 1: I want to be the guy he can't devour. I
- 48:59Speaker 1: want to be the guy who makes it to the
- 49:02Speaker 1: other side. I want to be the guy who crosses
- 49:04Speaker 1: over because I got an assignment waiting on me. Let
- 49:08Speaker 1: me show you one more thing. In front of every
- 49:11Speaker 1: major move of God, there will always be some sort
- 49:14Speaker 1: of storm, some sort of challenge, some sort of tests.
- 49:20Speaker 1: When you run into your Goliath, you have come into
- 49:23Speaker 1: your kingdom. David needed Goliath. Goliath announced you have arrived.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Goliath is not there to kill you. Goliath is there
- 49:37Speaker 1: to introduce you until Goliath comes. Oh, I feel like
- 49:43Speaker 1: preaching now until Goliath comes. David is just a shepherd boy.
- 49:49Speaker 1: But Goliath put David's talents on full display. Goliath separated
- 49:55Speaker 1: David from the other shepherd boy. Goliath put him in
- 49:58Speaker 1: a class all by Hi. If anything at all, David
- 50:02Speaker 1: should have paid Goliath, because the king wouldn't have paid
- 50:05Speaker 1: David no attention if it wasn't for the Goliath he fought.
- 50:09Speaker 1: The reason you're fighting what you're fighting right now is
- 50:12Speaker 1: at God's creating a stage for His anointing to restore.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Do you hear what I'm saying to you. The only
- 50:30Speaker 1: reason this storm is out here in the first place
- 50:33Speaker 1: is that Jesus is bringing the Gospel to the gentiles.
- 50:38Speaker 1: This is huge, and the storm is trying to stop it.
- 50:44Speaker 1: And the greater the storm, the greater the assignment. If
- 50:49Speaker 1: God trusts you with that level of trouble, you gotta
- 50:52Speaker 1: be somebody. You gotta be somebody. You gotta be somebody.
- 50:57Speaker 1: The storm didn't fall on nobody except somebody. The storm
- 51:04Speaker 1: didn't fall on nobody. It only fell on somebody. And
- 51:08Speaker 1: if the storm is in your life right now, just
- 51:10Speaker 1: what you somebody? Do you hear the words that are
- 51:18Speaker 1: coming out of my mouth? Somebody shout I am somebody.
- 51:23Speaker 1: I know I'm somebody, not because of my degrees, not
- 51:28Speaker 1: because of my accomplishment, not because of my money, but
- 51:31Speaker 1: because of the storm that has come in my life.
- 51:35Speaker 1: The devil wouldn't attack me if I weren't somebody. Shout yes,
- 51:42Speaker 1: Shout yes again, Shout yes. Whoever I'm preaching to you,
- 51:48Speaker 1: about to step into somebody. You're about to come into
- 51:52Speaker 1: another dimension. You're about to come into another realm of
- 51:55Speaker 1: the spirit and the reason all hell has broken loose.
- 52:00Speaker 1: This is Satan's last attempt to stop you from landing
- 52:05Speaker 1: on dry ground. But the devil is a lie. I'm
- 52:10Speaker 1: gonna be steady. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. This young lady saying,
- 52:29Speaker 1: everybody loves to hear you when you come out, but
- 52:32Speaker 1: when you're in Don't nobody want to hear you when
- 52:35Speaker 1: you're in pain. Don't nobody want to hear you when
- 52:38Speaker 1: you're struggling in your faith? Don't nobody want to hear you?
- 52:41Speaker 1: But you're just paying your dues. This is a toll bridge.
- 52:45Speaker 1: You have to pay to make it to the other side.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Y'all don't understand what a toll bridge is. It means
- 52:53Speaker 1: it costs you something to get to the other side,
- 52:57Speaker 1: and once you paid the price, you ain't gonna lett
- 53:00Speaker 1: Nobody take your prize away from you. I need thirty
- 53:06Speaker 1: seconds of crazy, spontaneous holy ghost supernatural praising his house, praising, praising, praising, praising.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Praise him like you a king, Praise him like you
- 53:29Speaker 1: a demon chaser. Praise him like you're a water walker.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Praise him like you're the head and not the tail.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Praising like you're a person of increase. Praise him with
- 53:40Speaker 1: a significant praise. A significant praise. You are putting a
- 53:45Speaker 1: significant attack. Give him a significant praise. Stands to your feet.
- 54:07Speaker 1: I'm the South. I feel glory in this place. I
- 54:12Speaker 1: feel another boat shot. I feel annoying in this place.
- 54:16Speaker 1: I feel power in this place. I'm raising up another
- 54:19Speaker 1: generation of leaders. I'm raising up another generation of leaders.
- 54:23Speaker 1: That's why I keep talking about leaders. I'm raising up
- 54:26Speaker 1: another generation of leaders. And I want you to understand.
- 54:30Speaker 1: The trouble is normal. The trouble is a part of
- 54:36Speaker 1: the job. The attack identifies you as being significant. The
- 54:43Speaker 1: more significant you are, the more hellish the attack is.
- 54:49Speaker 1: You don't have to fight the storm. You have to
- 54:53Speaker 1: fight the temptation to become hysterical in the storm. You
- 54:59Speaker 1: gotta remain ain't steady. Steady means whatever you were doing
- 55:04Speaker 1: before the storm started, keep on doing it. The double
- 55:08Speaker 1: shut cold shadda he dobo, she can't tell you shata
- 55:12Speaker 1: heybo shatah her double shaya. When COVID came, I said,
- 55:19Speaker 1: I was preaching before it hit. I'm gonna keep on preaching.
- 55:23Speaker 1: They said, you ain't got nobody to preach too. I said,
- 55:26Speaker 1: I don't care. I'm gonna be steady in the storm.
- 55:29Speaker 1: So every Sunday morning I got dressed. Wasn't nobody there
- 55:33Speaker 1: to see me get dressed. I preach. Wasn't nobody to
- 55:37Speaker 1: shout Holly New York. Nobody said, it's me, Missheva, you
- 55:41Speaker 1: talking to me? But I kept on preaching, because you'll
- 55:44Speaker 1: never win if you stop being steady.
- 55:48Speaker 2: You gotta be steadfast.
- 55:59Speaker 1: So every he talks about Jesus rebuked the winds and
- 56:03Speaker 1: the waves, and let me show you some another thing
- 56:08Speaker 1: that the storm did. It made them reassess who Jesus was,
- 56:13Speaker 1: because when Jesus rebuked the winds and waves, they said,
- 56:17Speaker 1: what manner of man is this? That even the winds
- 56:21Speaker 1: and waves obey his will? And I thought, y'all still
- 56:26Speaker 1: think he a man? You mean, you a disciple, and
- 56:35Speaker 1: you still think he's a man.
- 56:38Speaker 2: You're talking about? What manner of man is this?
- 56:41Speaker 1: You?
- 56:41Speaker 2: The disciples?
- 56:42Speaker 1: These ain't pharisees, These are not sadd diessees. These are
- 56:47Speaker 1: the church leaders who still have not recognized that Jesus
- 56:52Speaker 1: is God. But you're gonna learn today. You're gonna learn today.
- 57:02Speaker 1: You're gonna learn today. You're gonna learn today. You gonna
- 57:06Speaker 1: learn today, Baby, you gonna learn today. You gonna learn
- 57:10Speaker 1: his voice. You gonna learn how to obey his voice.
- 57:14Speaker 1: You're gonna learn how to hear his voice. You're gonna
- 57:16Speaker 1: learn that he can walk you.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Through the worst moments.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Of your life, the worst moments of your life, the
- 57:38Speaker 1: worst moments of your life. I was sitting right over
- 57:43Speaker 1: there with my mother's casket laying in front of the
- 57:46Speaker 1: church in the old building. I was sitting right in
- 57:50Speaker 1: front of it, and I told her all my life.
- 57:53Speaker 1: She said, I want you to preach my funeral. I said,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I ain't preaching your funeral. I'm telling you now so
- 58:00Speaker 1: I don't have to feel guilty when you die.
- 58:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 58:06Speaker 1: But I was sitting over there, and I thought, this
- 58:10Speaker 1: is your last chance to do something she wanted you
- 58:15Speaker 1: to do. So I told God, with grief like some
- 58:26Speaker 1: of you ain't never seen until that happened to you,
- 58:28Speaker 1: pushing you down in the floor, I said, if you
- 58:32Speaker 1: give me enough grace for the grief, I'll stumble up
- 58:39Speaker 1: there and do it and be steady in the storm.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I might fall apart when I get home. I might
- 58:51Speaker 1: fall apart in the car, but in the storm. In
- 59:02Speaker 1: the storm, you know how we was reading in the storm.
- 59:07Speaker 1: You know Mama didn't put up with that stuff in
- 59:08Speaker 1: the storm. Get yourself together, steady in the storm. If
- 59:20Speaker 1: you're steady, you outlasted. If you steady, you gonna outlive it.
- 59:27Speaker 1: If you're not steady, it's only because you don't have
- 59:29Speaker 1: the faith to believe that there's something on the other
- 59:32Speaker 1: side of it. And the reason I read the part
- 59:40Speaker 1: about them landing is I wanted you to know they
- 59:42Speaker 1: made it. Now watch this. You ain't gonna shout about this.
- 59:49Speaker 1: They made it through the storm to face the demons.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: The reward for passing the tests is earning the next tests.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: Can I give you truth?
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: So eventually you face so many of them, you learn
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: not to delay your happiness for the test to be over.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: For you to feel good, you've got to learn how
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to go ahead and find happiness in the midst of it,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: because it ain't gonna stop. It's not ever going to stop.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: There's always gonna be something, There's always gonna be somebody,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: there's always gonna be something you're scared of. There's always
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: gonna be stuff that goes wrong. It's called life. Baby,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: It's called life. It's not Satan, it's not demons, it's
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: not witches, is not hex's. It's life. People are gonna
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: be born, people are gonna die. Accidents, shocking accidents, burning, killed, shot,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: set on fire, blue committed suicide. That happens in life?
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Does it hurt aipsidetely? Do you quit?
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Hell? No, no, Ain't.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: No way, ain't no way. You have to kill me?
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Dog you have to give you? Are you like to
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: take me out? It ain't even based on what I
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: win or lose. I'm just telling you got me to
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: fight every morning. You want to fight me on Monday,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: and fight me on Tuesday, Fight me on Wednesday, and
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: fight me on Thursday, Fight me on Friday. Waitmen, let
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: me get some breakfast. Fight you on Saturday, fight you
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: on Sunday morning. Because I'm just as determined to get
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: to the other side as you are to stop me
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: from getting to the other side. I want to see
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: what he has on the other side of this test
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: for me. I want to see what he has on
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: the other side of this test for me, I want
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: to see what he has on the other side. Am
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I in it by myself? Is anybody in it with
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: for me. Are you ready to fight the good fight
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: of faith? Are you ready to be steadying the store.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I'm not calling you up for prayer. I'm not calling
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: you up from prayer. I'm not calling you up for
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: prayer because if I call you up for prayer, it
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: annahligates the integrity of this message. I ain't waking up
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: for what you're going through because I know you got
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: the stuff inside of you to fight back whatever is
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: coming against you. Right now, and as long as I
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: babysit you, you will. You'll know who I am, but
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: you won't know who you are. I command you now,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: in the name of Jesus. Dram put that stalk room,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Put that devilv buke that fear, revute that fact, that fulkid.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: In the name of Jesus. I don't know who's watching
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: me a lie, but the Holy cost said you got
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: the power with then yourself to be stepped fast and
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: unmovable in the star.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: You'll build that
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: H
