- 0:00When a seeker takes up the spiritual path, he often
- 0:04questions how to know what the divine will is for him to act
- 0:08upon. Srioro Bindo gave us a clue in
- 0:12his book The Synthesis of Yoga when he indicated quote, He who
- 0:17chooses the infinite has been chosen by the infinite.
- 0:21End Quote. We tend to live as if we are
- 0:25separated and isolated from the rest of the creation, and thus
- 0:29we believe the Divine Will does not work through and within us.
- 0:34Yet if we shift our standpoint, we can see that we are
- 0:38constantly being moved by forces that we receive from the
- 0:42Universal Creation. If we focus our receptivity on
- 0:47the normal outer life of the body, life and mind, we accept
- 0:51and move based on the forces that are active there.
- 0:55When we shift our focus to the spiritual quest, we become
- 0:59naturally receptive to the forces that provide us the
- 1:02opportunity for growth and development of consciousness.
- 1:07At this point, the fact that we have chosen the infinite implies
- 1:13that we are ready to grow in a new direction, and the forces at
- 1:17work encourage us to do that. Human willings are variable and
- 1:23constantly changing, fickle and unsteady.
- 1:27New ideas come, new forces press upon us, new circumstances
- 1:32arise, and we are off and running in a new direction.
- 1:37For someone to stick with one focus to follow the spiritual
- 1:41path thus implies that it is a greater will than the normal
- 1:45human will at work. And thus we can determine that
- 1:49we are indeed dedicated and acting under the impulsion of
- 1:52the Divine will to achieve what may be possible for us in our
- 1:57lifetime, under the circumstances of our birth, our
- 2:01destiny, our society, and the impulsion of the Time Spirit.
- 2:08The seeker who can do this finds that as the Divine Will works
- 2:12ever more powerfully within him, circumstances and events begin
- 2:17to align themselves to help achieve the object of his focus.
- 2:22As iron filings align in the presence of a magnet,
- 2:28Spioribindo writes quote, You have only to remain quiet and
- 2:33firm in your following of the path and your will to go to the
- 2:37end. If you do that, circumstances
- 2:41will in the end be obliged to shape themselves to your will,
- 2:45because it will be the Divine will in you.
- 2:50Remain fixed in the sunlight of the true consciousness, for only
- 2:55there is happiness and peace. They do not depend upon outside
- 3:01happenings, but on this alone. End Quote.
