- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way, everybody.
- 0:27Good morning from the Chicken Coop.
- 0:30You know what's interesting about having chickens, you, you
- 0:33think that they're not bright. You think lots of things about
- 0:35them, you know, you think, you know, they can't be all that
- 0:40they're cracked up to be, but they really are.
- 0:42And one of the things that I love about watching them is
- 0:45their higher, their hierarchy, their systems, how they can
- 0:49interact with each other, who hangs out with who.
- 0:52When you pay attention, you learn so much and that they're
- 0:55not so different then we are like I am out here filling up
- 0:59their water containers this morning.
- 1:01They are out and about. And one of the things that
- 1:04cracks me up is that there's like an IA total order to who's
- 1:10going to come and who's going to drink first?
- 1:12Who's going to, you know, clean up their breakfast pans first.
- 1:15Who's going to be the one that does certain things?
- 1:17And if one of the lower ones walks over, you know, they have
- 1:21a caste system. And if one of those ones that's
- 1:24on the bottom of the totem pole comes to walk over and decides
- 1:27to try to snack first or to push out of the way.
- 1:31One of the girls that are my original chickens, the ones that
- 1:34are like been around the longest, they inevitably will
- 1:38put them right in their place and be like, I don't think so.
- 1:41Back up and I always wonder like, is it size?
- 1:45Nope, it has nothing to do with size.
- 1:47It has nothing to do with what you might think it is.
- 1:50It's something about how they handle themselves.
- 1:53It's the confidence that they have the girls that have been
- 1:56around for a while just have a lot more confidence than the
- 1:58ones that are younger. And even Celine, who's my she
- 2:02looks like a, you know, this old 1930s, you know, Broadway person
- 2:08or like, you know, the, the people that used to perform in
- 2:11vaudeville and with her puffy hair and she's all in black and
- 2:14she happens to be a French crevicore.
- 2:17She just looks like she fell out of the 30s to me.
- 2:20But she's she's like small. She's not a big bird compared to
- 2:25the others, but she is bossy And they all like, let her just do
- 2:29it. Nobody bothers her.
- 2:31So confidence, it comes down to how are you carrying yourself,
- 2:36how the birds carry themselves, what they're actually acting
- 2:39like saying like how they communicate with each other.
- 2:41They have a whole language that they use and they use it.
- 2:45Believe me, they use it. So from a standpoint of like, do
- 2:50they actually communicate? How?
- 2:52Yeah, they actually communicate. And they are very strict with
- 2:56their hierarchy and they understand when one of them is
- 3:02giving another one a message. They take the social cues, they
- 3:05take the hints. Sometimes we don't even do that,
- 3:08for crying out loud, but they get it.
- 3:10So is it something that we can learn from them?
- 3:15Yes. Can we learn?
- 3:16We should all have more confidence, yes, building up
- 3:20your confidence is something that is totally important to do.
- 3:25I believe in it. I think we have to work on it.
- 3:27And confidence is not something you just like say, oh, I'm
- 3:30confident. It's that you have to build it
- 3:32up for yourself. You have to make a decision to
- 3:34say, I'm going to work on it and then it shows up.
- 3:37But if you don't work on it every day and you don't think
- 3:39about it every day and you don't cultivate it, it's not going to
- 3:42show up for you. You really have to work on it
- 3:45and you have to learn from things.
- 3:47So I, I throw it out there and say, what are you doing to help
- 3:51yourself build your confidence? What are you doing to give
- 3:53yourself that part of you that you know you want to build up?
- 3:57Like I knew this year I really wanted to build my confidence
- 4:00and growing different kinds of flowers and stuff that I was
- 4:03doing. So I spent all winter studying
- 4:06and reading about stuff so that when I wanted to do it, I could
- 4:09do it with ease and grace and know that I had it down.
- 4:13That was the key for me. It's like, I just want to be
- 4:16able to do it and know that I'm actually able to confidently
- 4:21learn it. And of course, you can hear me
- 4:22right now I'm doing waters because this morning, if I don't
- 4:26hurry up and get these waters out there, it'll never get done.
- 4:29But it's it for me, it's about showing the confidence.
- 4:34Show the confidence by cultivating it.
- 4:37Do what you need to do to gain your confidence, whether it's
- 4:41learning more, practicing more, it's reaching for mentors.
- 4:44Whatever it is, build your confidence because it will
- 4:47change whatever you're doing. All right, my friends, I hope
- 4:50you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 4:53Bye.
