Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / Pike Explains to a Stranger Why He Didn't Hold the Door For Him
Transcript
- 0:00I'm remember we are alive on our big ninety points have on Facebook page,
- 0:04of course, because it's time for the little thing we do call it is
- 0:07it weird? Where we talk about things we do in our personal time and
- 0:10determine if they're weird or not. A man he said, you had one
- 0:13that was quote hot off the press, real fresh bike as of last night.
- 0:19Is it weird that I have never heard of the movie Bad News Bears?
- 0:23Yes, yes, I would say, even having not seen it,
- 0:27I've never even seen it. Right, wait, we all get the reference,
- 0:30right, this is what I honestly had never heard of this in my
- 0:35life. We're going to bed last night, it's on, and my husband
- 0:38is just I mean, mind blowing, like the look that he gave me.
- 0:41I don't want to throw around the word like divorce, but he seriously
- 0:45looks at me, He's like, you've got to be kidding me. Just
- 0:47hauled by that. I would say, that's worth breaking your family up over.
- 0:50The One thing that was really nice is I think he had earned some
- 0:53dad stripes because right away Sidney goes, is this like anti Griffith, which
- 0:58this is hilarious like that she would bring that up and then Briggsy went,
- 1:00is this the Sandlot, which would make a lot of sense a movie.
- 1:04Yeah, we watched The Sandlot. I'm very well aware of Wendy Peppercorn and
- 1:10all of that, but I had never heard of this. Even you've never
- 1:14heard someone say like, oh, it's a total Bad News Bears situation.
- 1:18Of course I have, but I really I've never you have. Okay,
- 1:21like I've heard of like, oh, bad news. I think I probably
- 1:23say that to my kids or like make a reference, but never understood it.
- 1:26Maybe you haven't played enough organized sports because I remember, like our softball
- 1:33team even you know, there's a lot of Bad News Bears references. I
- 1:36was a softball coach, remember, so you never said when the team was
- 1:38no, you know, missing ground balls and throwing the ball all around.
- 1:42With me as a coach, that wasn't happening. Yeah, who's in that
- 1:46film? Because they did the original one and then there was the remake,
- 1:49which was it Rob Schneider. Okay, so somebody just said, are you
- 1:52talking about the remake which was in two thousand and five, I'm like,
- 1:55I didn't know there was a remake. But the original had Walter Matthew.
- 2:00So from Grumfield men. Oh okay, so Sydney was onto something with the
- 2:06old Andy Griffith reference. Oh really, No, I don't know. I'm
- 2:08just saying it's super old, okay, from a long time ago. I
- 2:12don't think Andy Griffith was in it person. No, I would say that's
- 2:15weird. You gotta really And that's coming from somebody who really hasn't seen a
- 2:19lot of movies. See, that's why I had brought it up to you,
- 2:21and I had just posted it on Facebook and my people were just appalled
- 2:24by me. It is offensive. So I apologize in it together all right,
- 2:29A man? Is it weird? And I'm just gonna explain exactly what
- 2:31happened because my wife thought it was weird of me to do and I don't
- 2:35think. So, okay, is it weird that yesterday we walked out,
- 2:38got a little coffee, went for a little walk outside of the apartment,
- 2:42and as we're coming back into the apartment, it was a situation where I
- 2:45held the door for my wife because of course, and then I look out
- 2:49and there was somebody I had just seen them park got out of their vehicle
- 2:52and it's a guy, you know, like a similar age guy. Looked
- 2:54like a construction worker, maybe just get off work. And so he's coming
- 2:59toward the door and I'm holding the door, and I just made that decision
- 3:01that he's too far away, especially he's an able bodied man, like I
- 3:07don't need to hold the door for so how far are we talking? Like
- 3:08did you make eye contact? Like hey, yeah, it looks like I'm
- 3:12about to hold the door for you. And then he did the kind of
- 3:14like scurry like you started shuffling a little bit. You had already given that
- 3:19all the signs that you were the door for him, and then I let
- 3:22it drop. And I immediately thought, oh, man, because now it's
- 3:27a double door. So now we got to get the key out to open
- 3:29the next door. And in that amount of time, of course, now
- 3:31he's right on our tail. So now I hold that door open for him.
- 3:35And what do you know, we go to get on the elevator.
- 3:37Well he gets in the elevator too, so we're standing in the elevator awkward
- 3:39silence, of course, and then I just say, hey, man,
- 3:44listen, I just decided that you were a little too far away to hold
- 3:46that door for you. Back there, you did not, so you I
- 3:51bet your wife was, Oh, this is a cringe level that you just
- 3:54because you're just bringing it up, like, let's talk about it, and
- 3:59he goes, oh, dude, I totally get it. He's like yeah,
- 4:00it's just that awkward kind of in between. I'm like, yeah,
- 4:02you get it, okay, and I say it gets it. Nobody ever
- 4:05talks about it thought, and then there was like another awkward ten seconds of
- 4:09silence, and then I just said I just wanted to let you know kind
- 4:12of what was going through my head there, and he goes, yeah,
- 4:15okay. Then we get elevator talks and we get off, and we get
- 4:18off and he goes, all right, I have a good I go have
- 4:20a good one. Man. You go you too. Well, then we'd
- 4:24both turn right. We both start walking down the long hallway. We're right
- 4:28on his heels and this goes on for another one hundred feet. Did you
- 4:31say, don't worry still here? No, it was pure silence the rest
- 4:38of the way. And it turns out he lives in the apartment, like,
- 4:41you know, two doors down from us. I'm like, oh,
- 4:43that's that guy. Okay, that was awkward. So it was that weird
- 4:46to bring that up? Or would you have just let it ride. You
- 4:50know, A part of me feels like you do that you would. I
- 4:53don't think that's super weird. I think i'd be like, I wasn't sure
- 4:57did he say thank you when you held the second door? There was so
- 5:00much going on. I just kind of blacked that part out. It's hard
- 5:03to say, you weren't. I thought about it after. I'm like,
- 5:08what could he have taken that like the wrong way? You know? Men't
- 5:13think so, I don't know. So what was your wife's stance on it?
- 5:15Just like hated it. She hated every second of it. It was
- 5:17painful. It was supposed to be just us coming home and enjoying a Sunday.
- 5:21Instead, it was just the most horrible social experiment she's ever been a
- 5:26part of. Involuntarily, Oh good, good a minute in the morning,
- 5:30big nutty eight point seven. You know what they're doing with axe body spray?
- 5:33Remember acts, Oh, how can you forget it? Some of my
- 5:35clothes, like it still just feels like it's burned in there. From the
- 5:39junior high in high school locker room, just guys thinking that you could just
- 5:43forgo showering if you bathed yourself in axe body spray. No. I remember
- 5:47there was a time it smelled good and then it was like somebody, some
- 5:50girl was like, hmmm, this smells good, and then every guy designed
- 5:55it too far. All you need is a little baby sprits, maybe just
- 5:59a little like or what I would do is I'd spray a little cloud and
- 6:02then you walk through. I was gonna say, you could have just walked
- 6:04into the locker room and walked back out and you'd be fine. Honestly,
- 6:09Well, they found a new use for it, thank god. Instead of
- 6:11just infecting young boys, it is now being used as ram repellent animal the
- 6:18animal rams. Over in England, they have these these sheep farms and the
- 6:23rams. The men apparently have some anger issues and they keep getting into it
- 6:27with each other, so they decided to just try spraying axe body spray on
- 6:30them. It feels like that's toxic for animals. Doesn't mean great, It
- 6:33doesn't seem great, but it's England, so whatever, and so apparently it
- 6:36masks the hormones that gets them so fired up and wants to fight with each
- 6:40other. So it's doing some good out there, the axe body spray.
- 6:44But it's a weird smell and it's not one that I enjoy. But is
- 6:46there a weird smell that you do actually enjoy? I do like the smell
- 6:49of a bonfire, but I don't like it in my hair, you know
- 6:51what I'm saying. Like it's one of those that you like it but you
- 6:55don't. Yeah, there are certain smells that like, yeah, they're good,
- 6:57but then they're bad. Like for example, I know this is gonna
- 7:00be crazy, but I love the smell of gasoline right same here. Sometimes
- 7:03I like try to it sounds weird, like try to get a little on
- 7:06my finger, like accidentally, but it's just a dab on your finger,
- 7:12No weird, But it's like it smells good, but it's like the second
- 7:15it goes from just in the air to now on you and now it smells
- 7:18now it smells disgusting. Well, you get a little at the gas pump,
- 7:21you get a little on your shoe or something coming back from that.
- 7:25No, but I do want to get it away just that smell or this
- 7:28is the exhaust smell like I'm at, you know, the snowmobile getting fired
- 7:31up when you're it's a good one, oh yeah, or just but again,
- 7:34it's in small doses where You're like, oh, it takes you back
- 7:38to a place. Mothballs are a terrible smell, but it reminds me of
- 7:43my grandma's house. So you like it really? Yeah, in a weird
- 7:45way. I'm like, oh, this reminds me of a Grammy is.
- 7:47Yeah, you know this is crazy too. But just fresh cut grass in
- 7:51the summer. I know I'm a weirdo, but that is I mean,
- 7:58oh, it's almost that time. Are people mowing the lawns? Yet yesterday
- 8:01Nick was thatching the lawn thatching, doing the little thatcher borrowed. Somebody's uh,
- 8:07now what is thatching? Thatching? Me like getting all of the dried
- 8:11grass up through the season. And then now we have to beg it today.
- 8:16Bag it, beg the grass, clipping bag it? Yeah, bag
- 8:20it nice? You want to come over and beg some grass today? Pike
- 8:24like the way you bag it up or whatever? Black Street said, Oh
- 8:28yeah, I forgot talk about nostalts, that's it? What was it a
- 8:31jam? I like the way you work. It's no diggity. I like
- 8:37to bag it up. Is there are they talking about thatching in that song?
- 8:39They must be Maybe it'll crank it up today. Well, we're bagging
- 8:43it out though those tortured poet lyrics were good, but nothing on black Streets
- 8:46taking a man in the morning seven. You know, Amanda, being nineties
- 8:52kids, you and I and a lot of people listening. You grew up
- 8:54in the nineties, where you lived during the nineties. There's a lot of
- 8:56things, like nostalgia. We'll remember about the decade, like the music and
- 9:00the clothes and the TV shows. But there's a lot of things that people
- 9:03don't remember, especially if you're young and you weren't actually around or you were
- 9:05just too young to remember about the nineties. So, for example, Amanda,
- 9:09you know, a lot of people don't realize most people didn't own computers
- 9:13in the nineties. Remember that. I mean, these are things like nostalgia
- 9:16just is not quite getting right. So so what year was like ICQ,
- 9:20chat and AOL? So we would have because I remember getting a computer and
- 9:24like having to dial all of that. We were dialing up. I think
- 9:28even in high school I was still dialing up. Oh totally. I remember
- 9:31the late nineties. My dad was just started to date who's now my stepmom,
- 9:35and I remember she had a computer and like going to her house,
- 9:39it was like getting a time machine. The fact that like you could email
- 9:43or google things, and that Google was new, I mean ask g.
- 9:46That was like the and then it turned to aj dot com. Yeah,
- 9:50oh man, and so some of those like early internet game websites some of
- 9:54the best times, oh man. So yeah, it was. It was
- 9:56kind of a status thing. It's interesting. And then sharing it if you
- 10:01had siblings, and then your parents had to make a phone call. My
- 10:03god. Also smoking was frowned upon but still very common, kind of like
- 10:07today, but even more so, you know, oh totally. I remember
- 10:11we'd go to the uptown restaurant that I think it was Bruski's at the time,
- 10:15and it was Taco Tuesday, oh Bruceki, and it would be Taco
- 10:20Tuesday, and you go in there, and when we would get home,
- 10:24and it was weird because you didn't like the smell of smoke. To me,
- 10:28now is so nauseating. It's just weird how life has just changed.
- 10:31But you would have to like strip down before you'd get in the house,
- 10:35or you'd have to like wash your hair because the smell of it was just
- 10:39so bad. But that's just the way it was. Oh yeah, I
- 10:41remember when the tide started to turn. In the nineties. You saw a
- 10:45lot of commercials for like h like Anti, like Philip Morris, whatever the
- 10:48heck that was. Then a cigarette guy, the big big tobacco guy,
- 10:54and then a lot of like secondhand smoke commercials where it would it would show
- 10:56like a server, yes, and I talk about the second n smoke that
- 11:00people serving at restaurants had to go through, which I mean, honestly,
- 11:03it wasn't until I say, this was a few years ago, but fourteen
- 11:07years ago, I guess when I moved back here from Colorado. It was
- 11:09that was just when basically you couldn't smoke places and go through. I'm like,
- 11:15it's crazy. There's a few places still that you can. Well,
- 11:18I remember going to like the frying pan on a Sunday growing up, and
- 11:22so I'm young and all I'm seeing are all these commercials about how bad smoking
- 11:26was. Well, my mom smoked, so of course I hated it.
- 11:28I'm like, Mom, what the are you seeing these commercials? Like You're
- 11:31gonna die? And so we'd go to like a frying pan, they'd be
- 11:33like, oh, smoking or non smoking, and I would just give my
- 11:37mom the look like, oh that is like, is there really non smoking
- 11:41even like hotel rooms any of that. Yeah, we're gonna put you on
- 11:43this side ten feet from a guy smoking, but don't worry, you're in
- 11:46the non smoking section. Yeah. Also, the crazy thing about the nineties,
- 11:50everybody pretty much watched the same TV shows. I mean we just talked
- 11:54about this. I mean I remember that was like right when American Idol was
- 12:00really starting on. Do you remember that? And we would just sit down.
- 12:03I mean we would be calling, texting, trying to get our votes
- 12:07in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Those were just like you'd sit down
- 12:11around the couch and we were all locked down. Yeah, you could go
- 12:13to school, you could go to work, and everybody had something to say
- 12:16about it because everybody was watching it the same sitcoms. I mean it was
- 12:18like what Fox NBC had Seinfeld and Friends. So like everybody week to week
- 12:24we went what was going on? From like Simpsons into the X Files on
- 12:26Sunday nights. Yes, man, Not to mention, people didn't really have
- 12:31a huge VHS collections. They had to rent a lot of movies. You
- 12:35think about it, I mean everybody knew somebody did have a ton of them,
- 12:39but we had like one row the most and it was the most random
- 12:43assortment of movies. I had Scream Titanic Double Sid remember the two films.
- 12:50Yeah, I know exactly when that movie you have to switch right when they
- 12:54hit the iceberg and the captains in the oh yeah, at the ship like
- 12:58the just kind of realizing what's happening, and then you got to change the
- 13:01tape. It's a great, great point in the film. What was your
- 13:05first movie? Well, I remember we had Like the reason I like Home
- 13:07Alone two so much is because we had the VHS was Home Alone two lost
- 13:11in New York, So we watched that one over and over. I wasn't
- 13:13really obsessed with VHS's as much as I was. I was a part of
- 13:16BMG and Columbia House during that time. So getting like the box set or
- 13:22if you think they were gonna be free. But then if you ever got
- 13:24a bill, which was random, but if you ever did, it was
- 13:26like a hundred bucks for your eight yeah, eight CDs. But that was
- 13:31my jam. I loved getting in CDs. Yeah, did you like CDs?
- 13:35Loved CD It was your favorite CD? You remember, So I had
- 13:37my first three. I had Boys to Men TLC, Crazy, Sexy Cool
- 13:41and Hoody and the Blowfish. Those were my three CDs that I Oh my
- 13:46god, it was quite a set. So the first CD you had,
- 13:48what you remember that because I feel like that those were the three Those were
- 13:50the three guys. Yeah, I remember we had we had two too.
- 13:54The first ones I ever remember having were the Backstreet Boys that first album which
- 13:58just iconic. Yes, the Savage Garden album but truly madly, deeply,
- 14:01Oh my god. And then we had the Aqua album after Barbie Girl brew
- 14:05blew Up. See, that's part of my singles collection. I had so
- 14:09many singles you were If you only have the single of Barbie Girl, you're
- 14:13doing yourself a disservice. Cause I've said this many times. But that album
- 14:16Aquarium, it's called top to Bottom. It's one of the great prop dance
- 14:20albums of our time. Who would have I mean, give it a listen
- 14:24if you can, if you got time. Amanda in the morning on Big
- 14:30seven Trending, Now here's what you need to know. Clean Clean They annual
- 14:37cleanup weeks and Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo and Dilworth are coming up,
- 14:41so save the dates between May sixth and the tenth and May thirteenth through the
- 14:45seventeenth, depending on where you're at. If you want to refresher of the
- 14:48cleanup rules, you can get them listed on each of the city's websites.
- 14:52But it's always just fun to see what people are putting on the curb,
- 14:54even just like we have a neighborhood group, so sometimes people just put something
- 14:58out like hey, it's just for free. Otherwise I'm gonna go donate it
- 15:01or do it's just one person's junk as another person. You never know.
- 15:05It's amazing how a year after years sometimes it seems like the same people.
- 15:07It's like, where, how are you accumulating all this junk? You know?
- 15:11Yeah, it's easy. I just hate junk. I know. Well,
- 15:15you you're just good about getting rid of I just I could live out
- 15:18of a backpack, you know. Yeah. Every time I'm like, oh,
- 15:20well I got rid of this, and then all of a sudden,
- 15:22it's like, how is there more of this? Yeah? Or whatever it
- 15:26may be. We've been talking about doing like a garage sale, and my
- 15:28husband keeps making fun of me. He's like, are you really going to
- 15:31do this? It's like, just go donate, do whatever. I'm like,
- 15:33well, I got some good stuff, like making funny. I know,
- 15:39nobody ever shows up. I feel bad when people get all excited and
- 15:41gung ho, they hang up their clothes and it's like nobody goes. Oh.
- 15:45So on Saturday we were we had to drive through because the bridge on
- 15:48fifty second is closed still because they're doing that huge construction project. Oh that
- 15:52one, and so we have to go detour back around the Deer Creek neighborhood
- 15:56out there. So they must have had a community garage all going on.
- 16:00I have never seen more traffic in my life that makes sense. Wouldn't believe
- 16:03it. The whole community's aware of it. You're not relying on the single,
- 16:07you know, little piece of cardboard that somebody wrote on a Markeralea,
- 16:12Yeah, exactly, good, fine, all right, Taylor Swift. The
- 16:18Tortured Boats Department sold one point four million copies on its first day of release.
- 16:22I mean, it's breaking records already left and righting records. Nobody's ever
- 16:26listened to an album more in a day or something like that. It's crazy
- 16:29how many people listen to all thirty one songs and just went through and dissected
- 16:33it and hey, thank you, because I did not I got to get
- 16:37a lot of the highlights. But the people who were pointing out the lyrics
- 16:41to this and who the songs were about. It's almost kind of like a
- 16:44homework project for Taylor Swift fans to go through and just try to figure it
- 16:48all out. Well, I mean, it's always a good exercise to breakdown
- 16:51lyrics. Didn't you ever do that in school, like an English class?
- 16:53Did they give you like songs and you had to dissect the lyrics? I
- 16:56don't remember that. Oh, it was one of my favorite project. Really,
- 17:00it was a real they tricked you into caring. You know, here's
- 17:03a pick a song you like and then we'll talk about the lyrics. But
- 17:06yeah, it was definitely smart. Interesting. No, I like that.
- 17:10I like that angle for sure. I remember it was under the Bridge by
- 17:15the Right Out Chili Peppers. You know that song? How does it go
- 17:18under the Bitch down Town? You're maybe not doing adjusted okay from the top
- 17:23sometimes I feel, of course I know that. Of course it's one of
- 17:29the biggest Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely Diddy, And now I understand
- 17:33it completely Thanks to Sean Severson's eleventh grade English class Way to go all right,
- 17:40Kaitlyn Clark sold more Fever jerseys in one day than the entire Cowboys roster
- 17:44last season. That is unbelievable to me. That's crazy, that's great.
- 17:48I saw who were was it Tim McGraw on stage wearing the I mean just
- 17:52a painted on Caitlyn Clark jersey. That guy just he talked about somebody getting
- 17:56better in time? Man is he though? Is it? I think?
- 18:00And kind of gross? No, So he got really skinny for a while,
- 18:03but I think he's starting to amp it up. I looked I was
- 18:07like looking good in them and jeans and that jersey sit on jeans and jersey.
- 18:11He's got his Caitlin Clark at and T Jersey salesforce, salesforce on the
- 18:17front, AT and T on the back. Hey, I will tell you
- 18:19those two companies though, gotta be happy that they put their trademark on that,
- 18:25or their marketing whatever. I guess it wouldn't be their trademark, their
- 18:29logo, their logo. Yes, we are going to get a little sunshine.
- 18:32We're supposed to get some showers this afternoon. There's a chance of that,
- 18:34and then a lot of wind coming our way this afternoon through the overnight
- 18:37high at sixty seven today and Amanda in the morning on sage seven. At
- 18:44the risk of sounding like, you know, the gift of the old man
- 18:47yelling at a cloud, yeah, I'm gonna sound like that here. But
- 18:49we just talk about the prices and how much it'd gone up. And I
- 18:52get prices are going up everywhere. Inflation's horrific the last few years, but
- 18:56specifically fast food restaurants, what are we doing, you know what I mean,
- 19:00they're just trying to keep up, I like everybody else, I know,
- 19:03but like it's at a rate that's unlike any other industry. Because obviously
- 19:08the dollar menu thing that it's been gone for a long time, right,
- 19:11but this is the value MENI I mean those are still now. We're talking
- 19:15three four bucks for the value menu. But a combo, like the only
- 19:19way I'll eat fast food now is like using a deal on the app,
- 19:22which thankfully a lot of these places still have really good deals. But if
- 19:26you're just gonna like go in raw just no cubeon, no app, nothing,
- 19:30and just get a combo with that crazy burger, fries and a drink,
- 19:33it' is like over ten dollars and you can go to like you can
- 19:37go to actual restaurants, maybe not super nice ones, but like chain restaurants
- 19:41you get a really nice meal for fourteen bucks. Well, we're over at
- 19:44the local seven to one on Thursdays and they have like a ten buck lunch
- 19:48going right now, so it's like, pop on in there. You get
- 19:51a full meal. You know what I mean? You're getting Yeah, like
- 19:53full meals of quality food, quality food, way more of it and way
- 19:59cheaper. It's crazy, and you don't have to eat in your car,
- 20:02but I will probably get it to go if you wanted to. But I
- 20:03do enjoy eating my car. Are you fall See? It drives me nuts.
- 20:08I actually can't stand it because no matter what, I always get a
- 20:12little lettuce down in the little crevice and it's like you're not gonna go down
- 20:15and pick it up. It's hard to get or if you're eating for some
- 20:18reason. I like, if I ever do drive there, it's usually for
- 20:22tacos. It's been a long time. Those are hard. Those are one
- 20:23of the harder foods to eat, I know. And then the cheese,
- 20:26the lettuce, all of that just kind of you go out of subway in
- 20:29my car. You could basically if you went under my ultimate seats, you
- 20:33could pretty much like do you think you could whip up? You could make
- 20:36an entire sub out of what's under that little Italian BMT straight from the ultimate.
- 20:41Oh yeah, I got some banana PEPs under there. You know it's
- 20:44so gross, but it's just crazy. You know, it's just one of
- 20:45those things. And they're never gonna come back down. That's a scary thing,
- 20:48Like, what what are we gonna do? You don't think they'll come
- 20:51back down. I guess it's not how it works. I don't know the
- 20:53projections here. You only hear about inflation. I don't hear much about deflation.
- 20:59That was really good, man. This is zero reaction. You're just
- 21:03you're just not on. We're not We're not on today. I mean,
- 21:04I've had a cover a couple of dangers out of the park and her face
- 21:10is like she's just ready to say the next thing. Doesn't care. No.
- 21:11I was like, my mind was somewhere else. I apologie, do
- 21:15you want to say it one more time? Okay, I'll say it and
- 21:19then we'll laugh and then we'll be done. I'm gonna let it hit this
- 21:22time. That's not how it works. Amanda. I hear a lot about
- 21:26inflation, don't hear much about deflation. Maybe good one after second thought,
- 21:36not good. Sorry, I get Amanda in the morning. Come on,
- 21:38get up on. I know you've been waiting for these results of the best
- 21:45Boyfriends from romance novels and movies, because all romance novels turn into movies.
- 21:52I really need to get into reading more books. My husband and I talk
- 21:55about this. He threw a little dagger at me when he was like,
- 21:57I haven't really read since I met you. Oh, you were a big
- 22:00reader before. He's like, it's yeah, I know, Oh gosh.
- 22:03No. Reading is one of those things where not everyone does it, but
- 22:07when you do do it, you love it. Like it's just objectively a
- 22:10nice thing to get into a book. Somebody had given me a book the
- 22:11other day and it was a great read and I started reading it got halfway
- 22:15through. Still need to finish it, but it was like those moments where
- 22:18you're like, oh my gosh, this is like you can't wait, challenging
- 22:22me, but it's nice to well what it does do. And I'm in
- 22:25the middle of a book myself. And by the way, Fargo Public Library,
- 22:27if you're listening. I didn't lose the book. I do plan to
- 22:30return it if you could just hold off on that fee. How long is
- 22:34it overdue, Pike? What's a month? Two months? Yea, it's
- 22:37been a long time. Okay, they are they charging you by the week?
- 22:41By no, just send like we assume it's lost at this point.
- 22:44So it's twenty six dollars. But I haven't seen the charge yet. In
- 22:45fact, I don't think I gave him my card, so gep. But
- 22:51anyway, no, I've been reading. It's here and there. One thing
- 22:52is nice though, it's because when you're reading, you're not on your phone,
- 22:55you're not looking at a screen, so it's like good for your brain,
- 22:59I feel like totally. Because if you're watching the TV, it's easy
- 23:02to just grab your you can hear. It's just easier. Yeah, So
- 23:04what I'll do I've been doing is just put up a YouTube video on the
- 23:07big TV and like, you know, throwing like a beach or some just
- 23:11like the book. Yep, exactly. It's just to hear the waves crashing.
- 23:15It's like you might as well be in a rubat. I mean,
- 23:18it's quite nice really taking me to a place, all right, any romance
- 23:22novel. Well, the best boyfriend from the romance novel. If you had
- 23:26to guess, who would it be? Who's the top dog, the top
- 23:29gun? I gotta go the Notebook. It's gotta be Noah ding Ding Noah
- 23:33from the Notebook ground top book boyfriend. Only behind him would be Edward from
- 23:38the Twilight series. I never actually read those. And then our guy Kristin
- 23:42Gray. Oh I read those? Yeah you did? Really went through that
- 23:45series quick? Yeah, what a time that was, like very really captured
- 23:49the hearts and yeah, other things, women of women, women everywhere.
- 23:53Yeah, did you get kicked out of the movie theater watching that movie?
- 23:56I no, that was magic Mike with some co workers. It's not miney,
- 24:02It's not any better. You really tied one on before the movie,
- 24:06didn't you. No, it was just we were just laughing. No,
- 24:10No, that wasn't the time, the long time ago. The top Book
- 24:15girlfriends include Bella from Twilight, the Girl from fifty Shade to Great and Station.
- 24:22Yeah, and then number one. This is a throwback. I don't
- 24:25know if you've read this book or not. Juliette from Romeo and Juliet.
- 24:30Where are the Number one spot? Is any in a book. Isn't that
- 24:34a play or what? How do you categorize Shakespeare plumps? But there's I
- 24:38mean, there's got to be son it. There's gotta be another one besides
- 24:45Juliet Girl. That's what I can think of. I haven't read many romance
- 24:48books. But we just watched the Romeo and Juliet Leonardo DiCaprio. One.
- 24:53Did you see that in the nineties? It was like a young young Leo.
- 24:56Was it called Shakespeare in Love or no, that's what Gwyneth Paltrow.
- 25:00It's called Romeo and Juliet. I don't think I have, and I have
- 25:06watched a lot of I don't usually read the books. I'll watch the movie.
- 25:08But everybody says the movies are always or the books are other than it's
- 25:11called Romeo and Juliet. So it's like this modern take on Shakespeare where they're
- 25:15in these gangs. They're like street gangs. Really good stuff from out our
- 25:19guy, Leo DiCaprio, nothing will beat the Titanic. I don't know,
- 25:22man, he's really good in Romeo and Juliet. I get Amanda in the
- 25:26morning. Now Amanda stills. Let's see, let's see David Beckham has sued
- 25:33Mark Wahlberg's company over a fitness deal. So David Beckham says that in this
- 25:36lawsuit, Wahlberg's company F forty five duped him into signing an F forty five
- 25:41training contract. Well, Wahlberg owns about thirty six percent of this. He
- 25:45got a membership there, David Beckham working out at his local F forty five.
- 25:55They no, they tricked him. They tricked him. They were like,
- 25:57oh, you gotta do this. No, So he's also the company's
- 26:00chief brand officer. So Beckham, I guess, became really close with Mark
- 26:04Wahlberg when he moved to Cali to play for the La Galaxy. So basically
- 26:08he said, you can be a global ambassador. He was gonna get paid
- 26:11ten million dollars and they used him for his social media following well after the
- 26:15company is stock tanked at forty five. Asked the judge to eighty six of
- 26:19the lawsuit, calling it fraudulent. But he's still saying, no, you
- 26:22owe me ten million dollars because he did all these posts and everything, and
- 26:26he's not the only one. Durell Owens also filed the lawsuit back in twenty
- 26:30seventeen. Saying that they stiffed him out at seven hundred thousand dollars. Interesting,
- 26:34So I wonder how much Wallbrig has to do with it, because you
- 26:37feel like if it was him in charge, he'd be like, yeah,
- 26:38do I'll get you the money. You would think so. But he's a
- 26:41company's chief brand officers and he's just like the face of it. Basically he's
- 26:47invested in this. He also, yeah, has like thirty six percent interest,
- 26:51is what they say. So we'll see how it all plays out.
- 26:52But I read that headline, I'm like, oh boy, his boys,
- 26:55he can't. Speaking of the Beckums, the Spice Girl reunited over the weekend,
- 27:00Victoria Beckham celebrated her fiftieth birthday and they did an imp impromptu performance.
- 27:07Everything about this is glorious of and they're dancing. They got the choreography down,
- 27:15like I'm gonna guess, And I know, Amanda, you were dancers.
- 27:17You'll know. It just comes right back to you. Hear this song
- 27:19and you're just like, bam, bam, here we go. Yeah,
- 27:23my wife, we hear songs that her high school team dance to and just
- 27:26remembers everything. You know. Now, they didn't do it on stage,
- 27:29which would be cool. But well, David Beckham shared it and said,
- 27:32I mean come on, and then mel B she put it in her stories
- 27:36on Instagram and said about last night and included the hashtag to her dates coming
- 27:40soon. Oh yes, I guess be a joke. Well, she said
- 27:44back in January that they were working on getting back together. So, but
- 27:48it's always without Victoria. That's the whole thing, right. I feel like
- 27:52they're gonna bring her back. It seems like unless it's in her living room,
- 27:56she won't be reuniting. And when Taylor Swift says, yeah, gotta
- 28:02keep it a secret, Yeah, gotta keep it a secret. Josh Charles
- 28:04surprise fans with the cameo and Taylor's Fortnite music video along with Ethan Hawk,
- 28:10and they had shared it on Friday, saying they all had so much fun.
- 28:14But he's admitting it was really hard to keep it a secret. He
- 28:18didn't even tell his kids until the other day. Now, Josh Charles,
- 28:19I don't even know that name, but you know damn yeah. But do
- 28:23you know why they were in it? No? See, this was incredible.
- 28:26We were watching the video Friday night it came out, and so we
- 28:30put it on the TV, and I see this Ethan Hawk and this guy.
- 28:33I'm like, wait a minute. They were in Dead Poets Society,
- 28:37the Robin Williams movie, which you which You've been giving me a hard time
- 28:41because I keep calling the Tortured Poet's Department Dead Poets Society, And obviously I'm
- 28:45not the only one. Are you kidding? She's like kind of having fun
- 28:49with it too, So she got the guys from the Dead Poets Society.
- 28:52I'm like, that's incredible. I couldn't believe it, couldn't believe. I
- 28:56was in awe. You know, I was just reading an article in Rolling
- 28:59ste and you have a lot of friends who are swifty fans and stuff.
- 29:03It's all over the board, like I think people are. It's not a
- 29:06love it or hated. It's a whoa, You're just getting a raw,
- 29:08authentic tailor and maybe a couple of the songs are gonna hit for you.
- 29:11But I don't think she cares. It's it's a very odd situation, if
- 29:18that makes sense. Like, and then she's showing her like YouTube shorts over
- 29:21the weekend, pictures of her and trave in the kitchen. Oh yeah,
- 29:25ed uh not ed yeah, Ed Kelsey, Travis's dad. Yeah, there's
- 29:29a song and a little nod to him in there. I'm like, she's
- 29:32just toying with everybody in a way, but yet just doing her thing,
- 29:36like doing more what she wants. You know, she's not worried about putting
- 29:38hits out. They're filling dance floors out that And I think there's a few
- 29:41lyrics in there that are questionable and people are going, whoa, whoa,
- 29:44whoa, what's this about. It's like, hey, she's just she's an
- 29:47artist. She's saying things that rhyme maybe not exactly true. But also,
- 29:51did you see you're talking about like Travis being a gamer? I know of
- 29:55some of her stuff. I'm like, this is just funny, Like it's
- 29:56just dammer like video video game. It was like, how uh what is
- 30:00that one? Where the is it Grand Theft Auto? Oh? You know
- 30:04what, You're right, I did see that something about touching me while your
- 30:07boys play Grand Theft Otto, not everything about it. I'm like, wait
- 30:11a minute, So there's some there's some questionable things going on there, and
- 30:17it makes you wonder. But I'm like, Okay, is it for the
- 30:18song or is that what's going on and not. Everything is a lyric,
- 30:22you know. It wasn't her finest work that there
