- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Reality TV Cringe. I am one
- 0:09Speaker 1: of your hosts, Delia, and I'm back with the Beautiful
- 0:12Speaker 1: and the bodacious, bea Dresscious. We are here to talk,
- 0:18Speaker 1: sister wives.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We can't quit this show.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We are going into the brown A Kashik Records, Honey,
- 0:25Speaker 1: through the Rolo Decks, and into the archives as we
- 0:29Speaker 1: get back into season six, back to the Call de Sac,
- 0:33Speaker 1: back to all that commitment, ceremony, mission statement, everyone, and
- 0:39Speaker 1: I'm excited about it. Before we get into it, we
- 0:42Speaker 1: do have to issue you a disclaimer. Please hide your
- 0:45Speaker 1: wife and hide your kids. This is a politically incorrect podcast,
- 0:50Speaker 1: which simply means that we are stupid. We will not
- 0:54Speaker 1: apologize for it, and sometimes we swear because we can't
- 0:57Speaker 1: help it. We're debaucherous, fatcoon to the dumpster, and sometimes
- 1:01Speaker 1: you just have to deal with that. Yeah, So, if
- 1:03Speaker 1: you're a cool we might want to find yourself another dumpster.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Bye.
- 1:11Speaker 1: But if you're ready to return to the cul de

- 2:01Speaker 1: Now, we do want to tell you that we are
- 2:03Speaker 1: having an after show after this recap. After show after
- 2:08Speaker 1: party is just for the vip raccoons on Patreon now.
- 2:12Speaker 1: The reason we're having an after show this time is
- 2:14Speaker 1: because apparently there was an episode yeah, between episode ten,
- 2:19Speaker 1: which was the last one we covered for season six
- 2:21Speaker 1: in our rewinds, and this episode which is at episode twelve,
- 2:25Speaker 1: in which the Browns sit down with our Queen tammeron
- 2:29Speaker 1: hall Yeah and have a tail all it's base. Now,
- 2:32Speaker 1: we had decided we weren't going to watch the tail
- 2:34Speaker 1: all we were just going to get to the next
- 2:36Speaker 1: piece of content, episode twelve, but now I know we
- 2:39Speaker 1: should have watched it. Beatrice did watch it, and apparently
- 2:42Speaker 1: it was very good. And so in the after show
- 2:45Speaker 1: we're going to be recapping a little bit of the
- 2:46Speaker 1: tail all. And plus we have some news about Micah
- 2:50Speaker 1: Plath and Isaac Plath, those drunk ass brothers who had
- 2:55Speaker 1: a big fight and there was some terrible things that happened,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and about the upcoming season of Welcome to Plaithfill that
- 3:02Speaker 1: we got to talk about. We also want to go
- 3:03Speaker 1: for the Sister Wives ratings, yeah, because I think they're interesting.
- 3:06Speaker 1: They're so we're gonna you're giving it away. So we're
- 3:11Speaker 1: going to reserve all of that for the after show
- 3:13Speaker 1: and if you want to see that after show and
- 3:15Speaker 1: any of our other uncensored and awesome content. Again, all
- 3:18Speaker 1: I guta is go to bed, yo. Yeah. Now let's
- 3:21Speaker 1: catch everybody up as to kind of what we're doing
- 3:24Speaker 1: in season six at this time. Yeah. So, in case
- 3:27Speaker 1: you don't remember, we have just moved into the cul
- 3:30Speaker 1: de Sac, yes, or as Christine calls it in this episode,
- 3:33Speaker 1: the plague disac the compound. Yes, it's been about five
- 3:36Speaker 1: months and while the children are integrating and they seem
- 3:41Speaker 1: really happy to be proximate once again. Unfortunately, these wives
- 3:47Speaker 1: are not seeming to blend so well.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yeah, big yikes. Yeah, kind of like what Mary predicted,
- 3:52Speaker 2: because Mary was a bit worried about moving into the
- 3:54Speaker 2: cul de Sac and how everyone would adjust because they
- 3:57Speaker 2: had been apart from each other for two two years,
- 4:00Speaker 2: completely separate, barely seeing each other, and now they're all
- 4:05Speaker 2: proximate and they can see specifically where Cody is spending
- 4:09Speaker 2: his time. And Mary predicted it, and she was right.
- 4:13Speaker 2: It doesn't seem like anybody's happy, really, except maybe Janelle
- 4:17Speaker 2: because she's getting her back blown out.
- 4:21Speaker 1: In Vegas Renaissance sexual Renaissance sexual.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Yes, and Rose, well.
- 4:27Speaker 1: She's getting everything everything, Why wouldn't she be happy? Of course,
- 4:31Speaker 1: So this is season six, episode twelve, entitled.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Mother in Law Invasion. It's Mother's stapit. Yeah, and we've
- 4:40Speaker 2: got moms on moms on moms, so many moms, and
- 4:42Speaker 2: Cody has all these plans that were fed to him
- 4:45Speaker 2: by the production company of TLC, So we're gonna have
- 4:48Speaker 2: to go with him through this day. Yeah, and hear
- 4:50Speaker 2: a lot of conversation about how great Cody is, how
- 4:53Speaker 2: he needs to be giving himself more.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Kreta, you're doing so you're perfect. You're perfect, Bonnie says.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Bunny says you're perfect, which is wild, Bonny, is something
- 5:02Speaker 1: wrong with you? Who would do?
- 5:04Speaker 2: I mean, she is Mary's mom, that's true. Rest in peace, Bonnie.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yes, and I'm sure you're were fantastic, Sure, but like
- 5:11Speaker 1: I wasn't understanding some of what she was talking about
- 5:13Speaker 1: in this episode. Don't get it, but without further ado,
- 5:15Speaker 1: take it away, Beatrice.
- 5:17Speaker 2: All right, girl, Well we are at the Cold de Sac.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We are adjusting to life in the cold a Sac,
- 5:22Speaker 2: and we hear from everybody on the couch how it's
- 5:25Speaker 2: been going. It's not been smooth sailing like you had said.
- 5:29Speaker 2: The kids are adjusting, but the adults are not. And
- 5:32Speaker 2: Christine has the balls to just come out and say it.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And she's like, my life's sad, like I am not happy.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I'm not laughing, but it's like she's just sad. YEA.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Everybody seems kind of shocked that she just came out
- 5:46Speaker 2: and said it. She verbalized it, but it's like man,
- 5:49Speaker 2: as soon as they went to Vegas, like she's just
- 5:51Speaker 2: not happy.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I got the impression that Christine liked to wait for
- 5:58Speaker 1: these moments on the couch to just like drop these
- 6:02Speaker 1: emotional bombs maybe and kind of like destabilize the situation
- 6:07Speaker 1: and whatever the family message was, because everybody did seem
- 6:09Speaker 1: to be surprised, and you know, she started kind of crying,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and she's like, I thought, at this point, like five
- 6:15Speaker 1: months in the cul de sac, I would be closer
- 6:18Speaker 1: with my sister wives. I thought we'd be like going
- 6:20Speaker 1: to restaurants and we'd be keeking, and we'd be like
- 6:23Speaker 1: building our relationships. But that's just not happening. And they
- 6:27Speaker 1: never really articulated why that might be. They talked around
- 6:31Speaker 1: that a lot.
- 6:32Speaker 2: They do that a lot. Yeah, it's like so annoying,
- 6:34Speaker 2: Like just say the full thing. You're gonna say that
- 6:37Speaker 2: your life is sad?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Why? Yeah?
- 6:39Speaker 2: Is it because Cody's never rounded your house, he's not
- 6:42Speaker 2: boanking you. Is it because the wives hate you? Like
- 6:45Speaker 2: what's going on? But no, we just have her kind
- 6:48Speaker 2: of tearing up. She says life is sad. I think
- 6:50Speaker 2: Cody says something like we're really struggling because we still
- 6:54Speaker 2: feel kind of separate because we were separate for the
- 6:56Speaker 2: last two years, and so there's a lot of healing
- 6:58Speaker 2: that needs to be done, and this kind of sets
- 7:01Speaker 2: up a conversation for what's going to happen later in
- 7:04Speaker 2: the season where they do their little standard TLC recommitment ceremony,
- 7:09Speaker 2: which now I'm kind of convinced that these ceremonies that
- 7:12Speaker 2: TLC does on these family shows like John and A
- 7:14Speaker 2: Plus Kid and Sistervives, like they're cursed because ends up,
- 7:20Speaker 2: like the family ends up breaking up and never coming
- 7:23Speaker 2: back together.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think every single vow renewal on Bravo,
- 7:28Speaker 1: like when a couple renews their vows, like every single
- 7:30Speaker 1: one of those couples has since divorced except maybe one.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But like, yeah, I think it is cursed. And I
- 7:36Speaker 1: also just think it's manufactured, just like the mission statement
- 7:39Speaker 1: is manufactured, just as this Mother's Day is manufactured. I
- 7:43Speaker 1: think the commitments ceremony is going to be much of
- 7:45Speaker 1: the same.
- 7:46Speaker 2: It's kind of crazy, like even in my personal life,
- 7:48Speaker 2: like when my dad and my stepmom got married, we
- 7:51Speaker 2: had like this weird like blending family ceremony, and we
- 7:55Speaker 2: like it was something like mixing all the sands of
- 7:57Speaker 2: our families together because they got married on the beach
- 8:00Speaker 2: and now none of.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Us talked truly. Yes, Oh, it's like.
- 8:04Speaker 2: It's fine, but it's just kind of funny, how like
- 8:06Speaker 2: maybe these ceremonies are cursed. Maybe you shouldn't do that.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I don't know, it could be. I mean they talk
- 8:12Speaker 1: a lot about manifesting, yeah, and being the architects of
- 8:16Speaker 1: their lives, but I'm like, well, what are you actually
- 8:19Speaker 1: manifesting though, because as soon as you guys got into
- 8:21Speaker 1: your very expensive and large homes, you just stop talking
- 8:24Speaker 1: to each other. And the vibe that I was getting
- 8:27Speaker 1: watching this and honestly this entire season is like Cody
- 8:31Speaker 1: is already tired of the bullshit. Oh, she's very much
- 8:34Speaker 1: tired of the drama amongst the wives, and he's looking
- 8:37Speaker 1: to find a way to have them resolve their crap
- 8:41Speaker 1: without him having to facilitate the entire thing. Of course,
- 8:44Speaker 1: he does seem a bit exhausted, so when he's talking
- 8:47Speaker 1: in these later seasons eighteen nineteen, when he's talking about
- 8:50Speaker 1: like I just couldn't do it anymore. Yeah, like it
- 8:52Speaker 1: was never okay, there was always some sort of a problem.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I can kind of see that with some of the
- 8:58Speaker 1: stuff he's saying and some of the things that we're seeing,
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's like, why can't you women just get it together?
- 9:04Speaker 1: And later in this episode, when we get to the
- 9:06Speaker 1: mother in laws and they're talking about their perspective on polygamy,
- 9:10Speaker 1: you can see why it's hard to get your shit
- 9:12Speaker 1: together though, Yeah, because polygamy is hard.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It's so hard, yeah, and it's not great for the women.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Like the women end up feeling like really shitty about themselves,
- 9:20Speaker 2: about their relationships and everything. Like it's just not a
- 9:24Speaker 2: healthy dynamic at all. So like, of course, like the
- 9:27Speaker 2: women wouldn't really be good friends, but then there's probably
- 9:30Speaker 2: like some cattiness, especially on Mary and Robin's side at
- 9:34Speaker 2: this time. That's kind of the vibe I was getting
- 9:36Speaker 2: from Mary Ann Robin. And then just like, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 2: the obvious discrepancy with like Cody just being so in
- 9:43Speaker 2: love with Robin and not into the other wives. I
- 9:46Speaker 2: could totally tell Cody was just like, oh my god,
- 9:50Speaker 2: I just have to get through the cameras. Like even
- 9:51Speaker 2: this whole episode where he's like shopping for mother's stay
- 9:55Speaker 2: present and then cooking breakfast with all of his kids
- 9:58Speaker 2: and stuff for all of these women in his house,
- 10:00Speaker 2: he did not seem into it at all, And this
- 10:03Speaker 2: obviously wasn't his norm, Like, if the cameras weren't there,
- 10:06Speaker 2: he couldn't have done any of them.
- 10:08Speaker 1: No, I don't think so as well. So they've become
- 10:11Speaker 1: aware of the cameras. This is a job for them,
- 10:14Speaker 1: This is how I would assume they're making the majority
- 10:17Speaker 1: of their money. And as soon as we get to
- 10:19Speaker 1: that place with a reality television show, things just start
- 10:23Speaker 1: to get bad and you can kind of see it.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Are you watching Love Island? I've been hearing all of
- 10:28Speaker 1: the craziess So I've watched a little bit of Love
- 10:31Speaker 1: Island here and there. I am watching the current season,
- 10:34Speaker 1: but like, all of the contestants have come on to
- 10:36Speaker 1: Love Island this year, and they're all self aware, and
- 10:40Speaker 1: they're all producing themselves, and they're very much into the
- 10:43Speaker 1: strategery of it all, being very strategic and hooking up
- 10:47Speaker 1: and coupling up and closing it off right away as
- 10:49Speaker 1: opposed to like coming there to find love and being
- 10:51Speaker 1: authentic on camera. And it's totally derailing the entire season,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and America is unhappy. And this is the kind of
- 10:59Speaker 1: thing that I think pollutes shows that start out really well, yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 1: you've got like ninety day fiance with like people coming
- 11:07Speaker 1: onto the platform like with their storylines intact, wanting to
- 11:11Speaker 1: show a specific thing, but not being really who they are.
- 11:14Speaker 1: So I do agree with you, Like I can see
- 11:16Speaker 1: that in Cody, like running from house to house to
- 11:18Speaker 1: house to house to house, like performing yet NonStop for
- 11:21Speaker 1: the audience. It's lame.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It's super lame. And in the context of this family,
- 11:25Speaker 2: I can imagine how like disappointing and heartbreaking it would
- 11:30Speaker 2: be to be living this life on reality TV where
- 11:34Speaker 2: like you're portraying that your family is fine and you're
- 11:37Speaker 2: happy and like you're trying to work things out and
- 11:40Speaker 2: everybody loves each other, but then behind the scenes off
- 11:43Speaker 2: the camera, like everybody fucking hates each other. Cody has
- 11:45Speaker 2: a favorite wife already, Like I could imagine just how
- 11:49Speaker 2: bad these women are feeling right now. It's the tension
- 11:52Speaker 2: in the air is thick.
- 11:54Speaker 1: It is, honey, it is thick.
- 11:56Speaker 2: It is. And so after we kind of talk about
- 11:58Speaker 2: the cul de sac and how everybody.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Said except the kids, except for the kids did seem happy.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Robin and Cody, then we have a family discussion with
- 12:08Speaker 2: the adults where they talk about how they're going to
- 12:10Speaker 2: pay for the older kids's college tuitions, and this is
- 12:13Speaker 2: where we talk about like Leon and how Leon really
- 12:16Speaker 2: wants to go to Westminster because it's their dream job,
- 12:20Speaker 2: even though it's insanely.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Expensive, certainly compared to in state tuition at UNLV. Yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 1: I think they were saying that they're paying like seven
- 12:31Speaker 1: thousand a year for Logan U, but for Leon it's
- 12:34Speaker 1: going to be twenty eight thousand a year, so twenty
- 12:38Speaker 1: thousand dollars more.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Which is crazy, absolutely crazy. But they're trying, at least
- 12:44Speaker 2: on camera, to figure out a way to pay for
- 12:49Speaker 2: Leon's college. And you can tell like Cody's kind of
- 12:52Speaker 2: frustrated about this situation. Mary is of course sticking like
- 12:58Speaker 2: digging her heels in. It's like, well, but I really
- 13:00Speaker 2: want me on to go to the school because it's
- 13:01Speaker 2: really important to them, And I think Cody brings it
- 13:05Speaker 2: up immediately. He's like, well, Mary, how about you just
- 13:07Speaker 2: pay for Leon's college.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Well, but let's talk about this, because for the first
- 13:12Speaker 1: time since maybe ever, I was like one hundred percent
- 13:14Speaker 1: team Cody here, Oh for sure, because Cody's like, I
- 13:16Speaker 1: don't want our kids to be taking out a bunch
- 13:18Speaker 1: of crazy loans, you know, in order to study for
- 13:21Speaker 1: a specialty that they're not going to get out and
- 13:23Speaker 1: actually practiced, and they'll have to be slaves to debt.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And I don't want that. And also like, why would
- 13:28Speaker 1: we be indulging one child over all of our other
- 13:32Speaker 1: kids and how are we going to pay for this?
- 13:34Speaker 1: And so yeah, Mary, if you want your child to
- 13:37Speaker 1: go to a private school that is going to cost
- 13:41Speaker 1: that much more than you should be thinking about how
- 13:43Speaker 1: you can come out of your own pocket. Because Janelle's
- 13:45Speaker 1: sitting over here with six kids. All these kids are
- 13:47Speaker 1: going to be going to college, She's going to have
- 13:49Speaker 1: to fund that. I assume she's going to have to
- 13:51Speaker 1: come out of her pocket some So why shouldn't you Mary?
- 13:54Speaker 2: And I was actually surprised that Cody was advocating on
- 13:57Speaker 2: behalf of Christine and Janelle because he literally said, like,
- 14:00Speaker 2: we have two women who are supporting six kids each,
- 14:03Speaker 2: Like why should we have to take money out of
- 14:05Speaker 2: the family pot for just Leon? And I think Cody
- 14:10Speaker 2: had said something like he didn't want to have to
- 14:12Speaker 2: sacrifice the other children's educations in specific, yes, just to
- 14:17Speaker 2: pay for Leon's stuff. And Mary kind of puts up
- 14:20Speaker 2: a little bit of a fight, and it's like, well,
- 14:21Speaker 2: but I contribute equally to everybody else, Like why can't
- 14:25Speaker 2: people help out with me and Leon?
- 14:27Speaker 1: And it's like, yeah, but you receive equally to what
- 14:29Speaker 1: everybody else gets as well, and do your resources go
- 14:33Speaker 1: a lot farther because you only have one child exactly,
- 14:35Speaker 1: you have the ability to save money and have a
- 14:38Speaker 1: college fund, whereas Janelle does not because she's got these
- 14:41Speaker 1: six kids and she's also contributing the same amount, so
- 14:44Speaker 1: that doesn't really jive.
- 14:46Speaker 2: It's like the same kind of conversation we had when
- 14:48Speaker 2: they were building the cul de Sac homes, where it
- 14:50Speaker 2: was like, Mary shouldn't be resorted to having just a shack,
- 14:55Speaker 2: like a tiny, like one bedroom house. But at the
- 14:58Speaker 2: same time, it's like, is it really fair that you
- 15:01Speaker 2: get this giant house when you only have one child
- 15:03Speaker 2: who's literally.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Gonna move out any right in a few months.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Like when everybody else has to make sacrifices, and by
- 15:08Speaker 2: everybody else, I mean only Janelle and Christine because Robin
- 15:11Speaker 2: doesn't have to make sact prices, Like, I don't know,
- 15:14Speaker 2: it's just kind of weird to me that Mary holds
- 15:16Speaker 2: so tightly to that, like she I think she value
- 15:22Speaker 2: puts value in herself with the monetary stuff, Like if
- 15:26Speaker 2: she doesn't get the same money as all the other wives,
- 15:29Speaker 2: then maybe she thinks she's not worth ye same.
- 15:32Speaker 1: She's not as valuable because she doesn't bring as much
- 15:35Speaker 1: to the table. But that's really not the argument here.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It's about what everybody else has to contribute for your
- 15:41Speaker 1: one child exactly, while we have all of these other kids.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And I'm sorry, you're the one who made the choice
- 15:45Speaker 1: though to be a polygamist, and you guys all made
- 15:47Speaker 1: the choice though to have seventeen children in this family,
- 15:51Speaker 1: and you have to financially plan for that. And Mary,
- 15:53Speaker 1: you don't get preferential treatment because your one child wants
- 15:57Speaker 1: to go somewhere in Utah and be around people that
- 16:00Speaker 1: they can marry and be ultimately a sister wife, which
- 16:03Speaker 1: is what Lean is saying they want to do. So
- 16:07Speaker 1: Mary has to have a come to Jesus moment. I
- 16:09Speaker 1: think everybody is within their rights to say no to
- 16:12Speaker 1: her agreed, But then they call Leon.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Into the room, which I thought was really inappropriate.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I thought it was very manipulative because Leon is I
- 16:20Speaker 1: think eighteen seventeen or eighteen at this point, and they're
- 16:24Speaker 1: going to be a kid about it. Yeah, Oh they're immature.
- 16:27Speaker 1: They're only going to be thinking about themselves. And so
- 16:30Speaker 1: they sit them down and they ask what they think,
- 16:34Speaker 1: and Leon immediately, as usual, just starts to cry.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I know, like a spoiled only kid. I'm sorry, but
- 16:41Speaker 2: that's exacutely it is. It's like you're just crying about
- 16:44Speaker 2: not getting your way and being told no. Like I
- 16:48Speaker 2: just thought it was so annoying, and I'm just like,
- 16:50Speaker 2: stop crying because you're crying about wanting to.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Be around privileged church. For real, you're crying about privilege,
- 16:57Speaker 1: total privilege and having way more privilege, and and your
- 17:01Speaker 1: other siblings in the family. Like that's what you're crying about.
- 17:05Speaker 1: And there's no other option, no, exactly, absolutely can't go
- 17:09Speaker 1: anywhere else except for a Westminster privilege.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Such privilege, such a baby about it, and then just
- 17:15Speaker 2: talking about how they want to be a sister wife
- 17:18Speaker 2: and they want to marry a polygamist man and they
- 17:21Speaker 2: want to be around people that are in their same
- 17:24Speaker 2: faith in their same church, only to like two or
- 17:28Speaker 2: three years later after this come out as gay and
- 17:31Speaker 2: then later like have a partner and then you don't
- 17:34Speaker 2: even want to be in this lifestyle anymore, which good.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I don't want you to be a polygamist or anything.
- 17:39Speaker 2: But it's just like so stupid ye them to cry
- 17:42Speaker 2: about it in front of the whole family. And then
- 17:44Speaker 2: of course Robin, like being the savior of the family,
- 17:48Speaker 2: is like, well, we'll do everything that we can to
- 17:50Speaker 2: try and get you there. We'll make sure we didn't
- 17:52Speaker 2: realize how important it was to you.
- 17:55Speaker 1: But when you look back at this from the lens
- 17:58Speaker 1: of season nineteen and Marry telling us in one of
- 18:01Speaker 1: her interstitials that she was the one who funded all
- 18:05Speaker 1: of Leon's university, she was the one who purchased Leon's vehicle,
- 18:11Speaker 1: it feels like the family actually never ended up contributing anything.
- 18:15Speaker 1: To lean to me, what would be fair is okay,
- 18:17Speaker 1: So if we're paying seven thousand a year for Logan, yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: we're gonna pay seven thousand a year for you Leon,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and then the twenty thousand extra you can get a job.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Your mom can come out of her pocket for it,
- 18:28Speaker 1: like you can figure it out on yourself. I would agree,
- 18:30Speaker 1: by yourself, but that would be fair. But I don't
- 18:33Speaker 1: even think the family.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Did that probably not honestly, which is kind of crazy,
- 18:38Speaker 2: isn't that crazy? And maybe like that's where Mary's feelings
- 18:43Speaker 2: are a little bit justified. Like, Okay, nobody's gonna help
- 18:46Speaker 2: pay for any of my shit, Like I have to
- 18:47Speaker 2: pay for my web bar, I have to pay for
- 18:49Speaker 2: Leon's college, I have to pay for Leon's car and everything. Like,
- 18:52Speaker 2: I get it, But like, at the same time, what
- 18:55Speaker 2: is fair? And Leon's getting more though exactly m hm,
- 18:59Speaker 2: that's the Yeah, they're getting more, the other kids are not.
- 19:02Speaker 2: And I wonder how the other kids feel about that,
- 19:04Speaker 2: Like even now to this day, I wondered watching this, yeah,
- 19:07Speaker 2: because I mean, it seems like Leon has a good
- 19:09Speaker 2: relationship with some of their siblings and stuff. But I
- 19:12Speaker 2: just wonder if there's like some hidden resentment, because if
- 19:15Speaker 2: I was one of these siblings, I would be a
- 19:17Speaker 2: little resentful.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Maddie and Aspen probably are.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I would be.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And if I recall correctly back in lehigh, I think
- 19:24Speaker 1: that Leon went to a separate, private homeschool situation than
- 19:30Speaker 1: the rest of the kids. That's crazy. I think from
- 19:33Speaker 1: the time that they were very little, Leon was getting
- 19:35Speaker 1: some sort of preferential treatment, and so yeah, that would
- 19:38Speaker 1: build resentment with the other siblings, and I do wonder
- 19:41Speaker 1: how they feel about it now.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I would be like, dude, you're spoiled
- 19:46Speaker 2: as fuck. Yeah, you get whatever you want. All you
- 19:48Speaker 2: have to do is cry like it's kind of ridiculous
- 19:51Speaker 2: how spoiled they are.
- 19:52Speaker 1: But whatever.
- 19:53Speaker 2: And then we have the mother in law's and Cody's
- 19:56Speaker 2: mom arriving to Vegas for mother Thursday. We have Christine's
- 20:02Speaker 2: mom Annie, we have Bonnie and Cheryl and Cody's mom,
- 20:07Speaker 2: and Robin's mom Alice, which I don't think we've seen
- 20:11Speaker 2: much of.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I forget. I think she was around during the birth
- 20:17Speaker 1: of King Solomon. Oh, I know this stepdad was. I
- 20:21Speaker 1: thought I saw her in the background at some point,
- 20:23Speaker 1: but I don't know.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, she was kind of interesting to me.
- 20:26Speaker 1: She was very interesting. She sounds just like Robin, just
- 20:28Speaker 1: like when she speaks him like whoa. It's super weird,
- 20:31Speaker 1: very very much so.
- 20:32Speaker 2: And there was a part where she was speaking like
- 20:34Speaker 2: later in the episode where she started to kind of
- 20:36Speaker 2: like well up like Robin.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I thought, so too him. Are you gonna start crying
- 20:39Speaker 1: right now? I don't know.
- 20:40Speaker 2: I was like, what is happening like mother like daughter,
- 20:44Speaker 2: but we have the wives describing the mother in laws,
- 20:49Speaker 2: like Robin says that Bonnie has a really strong testament
- 20:52Speaker 2: to plural marriage. We have Janelle saying that she misses
- 20:56Speaker 2: her mom because she was really close in proximity to
- 20:59Speaker 2: her mom in Utah, and like I guess, her mom
- 21:01Speaker 2: was helping out with the kids a lot, and Janelle
- 21:04Speaker 2: really misses that because she doesn't have that in Vegas.
- 21:07Speaker 2: We of course know that Christine's mom, Annie left plural
- 21:11Speaker 2: marriage when Christine was like nineteen or something. And then
- 21:15Speaker 2: Robin's mom, of course, has been divorced similar to how
- 21:20Speaker 2: Robin was, and very similar actually, like Robin's mom divorced,
- 21:27Speaker 2: her biological father married her stepfather that became Robin's actual
- 21:32Speaker 2: father figure, which I'm like, hmm.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Do you see what they're talking about when they mentioned
- 21:37Speaker 1: ancestral karma and how things are passed down generation to generation,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you can't really see it.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I thought that was really crazy. And then Cody decides
- 21:46Speaker 2: to take all of the moms out shopping to some
- 21:49Speaker 2: like weird cracker barrel type.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It's the same store that they went to when they
- 21:54Speaker 1: were getting those caramels. I know when they were being
- 21:56Speaker 1: duplicitous at Christmas.
- 21:58Speaker 2: It's like a crazy liked podge type store.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It's the one place they can go where they can
- 22:03Speaker 1: film probably so much word art, so much dumb.
- 22:08Speaker 2: It literally looks like a cracker barrel. To me, I'm
- 22:11Speaker 2: like where me? And he's getting like some like weird
- 22:15Speaker 2: decor items for each wife that he thinks they'll like,
- 22:19Speaker 2: and I'm like, these are stupid.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think it's right up their alley. I
- 22:23Speaker 1: think they love word art. I think that this is
- 22:26Speaker 1: a perfect match. He picked something for Janelle that says
- 22:29Speaker 1: I kiss better than I cook.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And he thinks it's great and it's spelled wrong.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Did you notice that I kiss better than t h
- 22:37Speaker 1: E N stop I cook? And he bought it because
- 22:40Speaker 1: he's dope.
- 22:40Speaker 2: They all don't.
- 22:42Speaker 1: They are all dumb. So he bought it for Janelle
- 22:44Speaker 1: and he's looking for different signs. I think he gets
- 22:46Speaker 1: a sign from Mary and something for Christine similarly, or
- 22:49Speaker 1: like she gets a bass, or so she gets a bowl,
- 22:51Speaker 1: she's a bowl. And then he sees this weird Harry
- 22:54Speaker 1: Potter clock for Robin and he immediately wants to get it,
- 22:58Speaker 1: but everyone all the mother in laws are like, well,
- 23:01Speaker 1: but like that's kind of more of a special gift
- 23:04Speaker 1: and you're just getting this whoe ass sign for everybody else,
- 23:07Speaker 1: and so you have to make sure that it's fair.
- 23:09Speaker 1: He's like, oh, so I have to think about my
- 23:11Speaker 1: wives and make sure the equity is there for all
- 23:14Speaker 1: of them when I'm selecting gifts. And his mom Janelle
- 23:17Speaker 1: or Janille, is like, yeah, you have to be fair.
- 23:19Speaker 1: That's the whole point of polygamy.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Well, and he's like saying that is like kind of
- 23:23Speaker 2: a joke. But then he doesn't end up taking her seriously.
- 23:26Speaker 2: He ends up getting the same yess that he wanted
- 23:28Speaker 2: to get at the store. And like with that sign,
- 23:31Speaker 2: I kiss better than I cook for Janelle, Like, Janelle's
- 23:34Speaker 2: mom was not didn't like it. She didn't like it.
- 23:37Speaker 2: She thought it was offensive and that it was not
- 23:39Speaker 2: a good gift. And Cody's like, no, it's actually a compliment. Yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 2: I'm not insulting her cooking. I'm saying that she's a
- 23:45Speaker 2: good kisser, right, I'm just like, Okay, dude, whatever, get
- 23:49Speaker 2: your booty ass gifts for your wives. And this is
- 23:52Speaker 2: like where we have some interstitials with the mother in
- 23:55Speaker 2: laws where they're talking about how Cody is kind of
- 23:58Speaker 2: a ding dong sometimes but they love him and they
- 24:01Speaker 2: think that he's earnest and a good person, which was
- 24:04Speaker 2: like age like milk, Yeah, it's embarrassing.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Then they go out for brunch, Yes, he takes all
- 24:11Speaker 1: the ladies out, and they have a conversation. And I
- 24:15Speaker 1: thought Annie Christine's mother was very, very intuitive in this
- 24:20Speaker 1: conversation because she's like, okay, with regard to the commitment ceremony, like,
- 24:24Speaker 1: what's that going to change with regard to the mission
- 24:26Speaker 1: statement that you are trying to create, how is that
- 24:29Speaker 1: going to shift things in your family? And like trying
- 24:31Speaker 1: to get to the bottom of what the problem actually is.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And it felt like to me she's probably on the
- 24:37Speaker 1: phone with Christine quite a bit, yeah, and probably understands
- 24:40Speaker 1: that there's already some big problems in the family, so
- 24:42Speaker 1: she's trying to get Cody to address them, but he's
- 24:45Speaker 1: of course obtus Oh totally.
- 24:47Speaker 2: And I think this is where we had like a
- 24:49Speaker 2: little talking head from Cody where he's saying that, you know,
- 24:52Speaker 2: some of his guy friends have really terrible mother in
- 24:56Speaker 2: laws that they hate, and then they have really good
- 24:59Speaker 2: mother in laws that they really enjoy, and Cody's like, well, see,
- 25:03Speaker 2: I have so many mother in laws that I relate
- 25:05Speaker 2: to all of them. But I'm not gonna say which
- 25:07Speaker 2: mother in law is my least favorite, because you know
- 25:10Speaker 2: I love them all equally.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I'm just like, that's interesting. Which one do you think
- 25:14Speaker 2: he has?
- 25:14Speaker 1: Hey, No, I think it's Annie.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I think it's Annie because I think Annie is implying
- 25:20Speaker 1: that there are bigger issues here that they're not addressing
- 25:22Speaker 1: and trying to get him to talk about it.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yep.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And I don't think he likes that.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I don't think he likes that either. I don't think
- 25:27Speaker 2: he likes Annie. And I don't think he likes Janelle's
- 25:29Speaker 2: mom either, because yeah, because Janelle's mom, like we know
- 25:33Speaker 2: from season nineteen, was the one telling him to not
- 25:36Speaker 2: show affection in front of Janelle because that made her
- 25:39Speaker 2: feel bad, And we see her in this episode telling
- 25:43Speaker 2: him not to get a sign that she thinks is
- 25:46Speaker 2: offensive to her daughter and then he gets it anyway.
- 25:50Speaker 2: So I think he just doesn't like the mother in
- 25:51Speaker 2: laws that like call him out on his bullshit.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I think another layer to that could be that his mother,
- 25:57Speaker 1: Janille was also like really struggling when Cheryl entered the family.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Point.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's his bio mom. He probably knew that she
- 26:06Speaker 1: was having a really hard time. I'm wondering what actually happened.
- 26:09Speaker 1: It sounds like when like immediately started preferring Cheryl. Yeah,
- 26:12Speaker 1: and so Janille was having incredible jealousy, and maybe Cody
- 26:17Speaker 1: felt sympathetic to his mom and maybe he didn't really
- 26:19Speaker 1: like Cheryl because of that.
- 26:20Speaker 2: See, And that's what's so crazy to me, is like
- 26:22Speaker 2: if that was true, Like, how could you look at
- 26:25Speaker 2: that situation with your mama, yeah, and then do the
- 26:28Speaker 2: exact same thing to these other women and be a
- 26:32Speaker 2: million times worse than your dad probably ever was, and
- 26:35Speaker 2: then not have any like self reflection and understood, Oh,
- 26:39Speaker 2: like I'm repeating a generational issue, Like no, you're just
- 26:42Speaker 2: going to continue to double down that you were the
- 26:45Speaker 2: perfect husband and everyone else sucks.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah, he does not have the ability to see himself clearly,
- 26:49Speaker 1: because he's a narcissist in my opinion.
- 26:52Speaker 2: But then he also has these mother in laws like
- 26:53Speaker 2: gassing him up at the brunch being like Annie, don't
- 26:57Speaker 2: not Annie, but the other one Bonny did.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I know you're perfect, You're great. Is she the one
- 27:02Speaker 1: who's like, make sure that you look back at all
- 27:04Speaker 1: the things that you have accomplished and everything that you
- 27:06Speaker 1: have built, as opposed to looking at the future and
- 27:09Speaker 1: what you want to create and what you don't have
- 27:11Speaker 1: now yep, which was platitudinal and I get it, but
- 27:14Speaker 1: like she just seems to be blowing a lot of
- 27:16Speaker 1: smoke up his ass totally.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Yeah, And she was also saying, like, nobody understands the
- 27:21Speaker 2: real pressure that polygamists men have to be under to
- 27:24Speaker 2: have to manage all of their wives and deal with
- 27:26Speaker 2: the relationships and everything. And I'm like, oh, miss me
- 27:29Speaker 2: with that right, right? How hard is it for a
- 27:32Speaker 2: man to just be nice and be equitable with all
- 27:35Speaker 2: these other women?
- 27:36Speaker 1: Like okay, yeah, And I also think she said something
- 27:38Speaker 1: like all the women in our community were always saying
- 27:43Speaker 1: that they would never want to be a man in
- 27:44Speaker 1: a polygamoust relationship. They were so grateful to be the
- 27:47Speaker 1: woman because the man has all of this responsibility and like, well,
- 27:50Speaker 1: what responsibility specifically? I mean, maybe does he have to
- 27:54Speaker 1: provide for them? He's got to have a job that
- 27:56Speaker 1: can support them, But like they do literally of everything else.
- 28:00Speaker 1: They got to crack open their legs anytime he wants it.
- 28:02Speaker 1: They got to take care of all of their children.
- 28:04Speaker 1: They've got to take care of the house.
- 28:06Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:06Speaker 1: They get the money that they get, they've got to
- 28:08Speaker 1: make do with it. There's often abuse, like that's the shit.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I hate making it sound like polygamy is so fantastic
- 28:15Speaker 1: for the family when it's the opposite.
- 28:18Speaker 2: And then we have Cody making breakfast for all of
- 28:22Speaker 2: the women with all of the children's help, and it's
- 28:24Speaker 2: a fucking total chaotic mess and true Brown fashion. Cody's
- 28:29Speaker 2: like freaking out with his hair bouncing everywhere.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Well, and Aspen and Maddie and Leon are the ones Cookie,
- 28:35Speaker 1: the older kids are the ones that are coordinating everything
- 28:39Speaker 1: and making sure it's all getting done well. He's tasting
- 28:41Speaker 1: things and basically being useless.
- 28:43Speaker 2: And trying to find the fuse that they blew. It
- 28:46Speaker 2: doesn't know.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Where it is because he's not a manly man. He's
- 28:49Speaker 1: not a manly man. He does not do manly things.
- 28:52Speaker 2: I know, I'm more of a man than is. Absolutely,
- 28:56Speaker 2: just couldn't believe it. And then once they get the
- 28:58Speaker 2: breakfast all done, I mean, it looked great, don't get
- 29:01Speaker 2: me wrong, for the kids that they were making all
- 29:03Speaker 2: of the waffles and the fruit and everything. Then Cody
- 29:06Speaker 2: gives some like teary eyed testimony about how much the
- 29:09Speaker 2: wives and the moms and stuff mean to him, which
- 29:12Speaker 2: I felt like there was some maybe a little bit genuine.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Such a performance cry on cue. Well, he's taking lessons
- 29:22Speaker 1: from Robin. Yeah, so he knows how to cry on cube. No,
- 29:26Speaker 1: it did not seem sincere to me at all.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Well, and then we have the wives on the couch
- 29:31Speaker 2: and their little talking head and Christine calls him an
- 29:33Speaker 2: idiot in this segment. She's like, God bless him, but
- 29:37Speaker 2: he's a total idiot. I know.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Robin is like, what are you talking about, Crody. She's like, yeah, Cody, dude.
- 29:44Speaker 2: And you know she went to Cody that absolutely night
- 29:47Speaker 2: and said this is what Christine said about you. Like
- 29:50Speaker 2: she immediately went against it. But I'm just like wondering
- 29:54Speaker 2: what the context of the wh Yeah, because it was
- 29:58Speaker 2: him giving this testimony and then right after that, Christine's like,
- 30:01Speaker 2: he's an idiot. M M.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 30:04Speaker 2: That must have been some editing on TLC's part.
- 30:07Speaker 1: But it's also how she feels and that's interesting.
- 30:10Speaker 2: And I mean honestly it's true. Yeah, absolutly, Yeah, truth hurts.
- 30:14Speaker 2: And then we have Robin saying like, you just have
- 30:17Speaker 2: to remember that your husband's just a man.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Shut up. I always look at you know when she's talking,
- 30:23Speaker 1: because Janelle just like glazes over. She's like, this bitch
- 30:26Speaker 1: is talking again, therapists. Robin, thank you, the youngest of us,
- 30:30Speaker 1: all the one who cracked it open for all these
- 30:32Speaker 1: made to day of things, all that ditch you brought
- 30:34Speaker 1: into my family that I had to pay up. And
- 30:36Speaker 1: now you want to opine on this couch about Mary.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Shut up. I know lest me with that you've been divorced.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Was how you an expert?
- 30:42Speaker 1: I know, like I can't exactly, I can't. You and
- 30:46Speaker 1: your mama.
- 30:47Speaker 2: St shut up straight up, dude. I wonder what their
- 30:50Speaker 2: dynamic is.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I don't know. I was looking at miss Alice and
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'm like, there's something about you. I don't like. Demons
- 30:55Speaker 1: exist in the world, honey, and this something called a
- 30:58Speaker 1: family demon is past your ancestors down through the line,
- 31:01Speaker 1: and those women I'm just saying demonic. Those women have
- 31:05Speaker 1: an issue of a demonic nature.
- 31:07Speaker 2: In my opinion, I agree, and then we have all
- 31:11Speaker 2: of the moms and mother in law's giving their own
- 31:14Speaker 2: testimonies and like experiences about okay, plural marriage. And I
- 31:18Speaker 2: just thought this segment was kind of weird because it
- 31:21Speaker 2: should have been something that was like happy and positive,
- 31:24Speaker 2: but it ended up getting kind of dark pretty quick
- 31:27Speaker 2: because we have Cody's mom talking about when she had
- 31:31Speaker 2: this testimony of plural marriage, she just didn't realize like
- 31:34Speaker 2: all of the pain that it would bring, and she
- 31:37Speaker 2: immediately starts crying, so does Janella's mom, Cheryl, and.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Cheryl says it was hell. It was hell hell. And
- 31:47Speaker 1: Cheryl talks about not feeling wanted in the family, and
- 31:50Speaker 1: then they pan to Robin. Yeah, and Cheryl's like, I
- 31:53Speaker 1: didn't feel like I fit into the family. Pan to Robin,
- 31:55Speaker 1: and Robin's got a little tear, yeah, because she can
- 31:57Speaker 1: relate because they don't accept me Cheryl.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Which is kind of crazy because Cheryl was the second wife, right,
- 32:04Speaker 2: so obviously she was I.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Think she was the third. I think there was a
- 32:07Speaker 1: second Yeah, that's.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Right, yeah, third, So maybe she was the one that
- 32:10Speaker 2: was preferred similar to like Robin. So I'm like, what
- 32:13Speaker 2: do you mean you weren't welcome in the family. You
- 32:15Speaker 2: were just not welcome with Cody's mom apparently. But Cody's
- 32:20Speaker 2: mom is kind of weird because she gives this air
- 32:23Speaker 2: like she's so loving and kind and positive. But I
- 32:28Speaker 2: feel like she was totally vindictive to Cheryl because Cheryl's crying,
- 32:34Speaker 2: and I can't remember Cody's mom's name, Janiel, Janille. God.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Every time, I'm just like, it's Cody's mom, Yeah, sex Janelle,
- 32:41Speaker 2: but Janiel, yeah, And I just they talk about how
- 32:44Speaker 2: it was so hard for many years and they had
- 32:46Speaker 2: to do a lot of work and a lot of
- 32:48Speaker 2: healing m hm.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And she talks about how Cheryl was a very good
- 32:52Speaker 1: business person, very savvy with business and money, and so
- 32:57Speaker 1: in bed and so when found himself over with Cheryl
- 33:01Speaker 1: is talking about business plans and everything, and so he
- 33:04Speaker 1: didn't spend as much time with Janille. But it's interesting
- 33:08Speaker 1: because if there is a second wife in between Janil
- 33:11Speaker 1: and Cheryl, then you would imagine that Genial had time
- 33:14Speaker 1: to acclimate and get used to having another woman around.
- 33:18Speaker 1: And so I think there's something specific about Cheryl that
- 33:22Speaker 1: bothered Janill. And I wonder if maybe Cheryl was a
- 33:25Speaker 1: little bit of a Robin. Maybe she loved having the
- 33:28Speaker 1: attention of Win. She would have known, wouldn't she, Because
- 33:31Speaker 1: Janil had ten children, so she would have known that
- 33:35Speaker 1: Winn was spending more time with her than with the
- 33:38Speaker 1: other wives. And so, just as Robin should have said
- 33:40Speaker 1: something to Cody at the time, like, hey, you're spending
- 33:42Speaker 1: too much time over here. You've got to go spend
- 33:44Speaker 1: some time with your other families, Cheryl maybe should have
- 33:47Speaker 1: been doing that as well and didn't do it. And
- 33:49Speaker 1: so maybe that's why Janille was a little upset. Maybe
- 33:51Speaker 1: I don't know, but it's obvious these women have been
- 33:54Speaker 1: through a battle and they've come out on the other side.
- 33:57Speaker 1: But they don't seem happy at all. They don't seem
- 34:01Speaker 1: really glad to be polygamous. They're very much along the
- 34:03Speaker 1: lines of this is suffering. We put it on the altar,
- 34:06Speaker 1: we're doing it for God. It's not because it's a
- 34:08Speaker 1: great situation.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Yeah, which is crazy because you'd think that they would
- 34:12Speaker 2: just talk about the positives of it in front of
- 34:15Speaker 2: the rest of the family. But no, we're going to
- 34:16Speaker 2: talk about how sad, painful and hellish it were.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Because I don't think you can get away from the
- 34:21Speaker 1: truth of what polygamy is right, and if you're going
- 34:24Speaker 1: to open up the discussion with these seasoned and wise
- 34:27Speaker 1: older women and you're going to talk about this that's
- 34:29Speaker 1: such a big part of their lives, well then some
- 34:32Speaker 1: things are going to come out. Yeah, that are going
- 34:34Speaker 1: to be important and meaningful. And I think the women
- 34:37Speaker 1: took the opportunity to do it. And honey, then we
- 34:39Speaker 1: got to Annie girl. Then we got to Annie, who
- 34:41Speaker 1: again is Christine's mother. Now she left Christine's father when
- 34:47Speaker 1: Christine was nineteen years old. She couldn't do that shit anymore,
- 34:52Speaker 1: and she went on her way. She was lost for
- 34:56Speaker 1: many years and she entered it. It sounds like she
- 35:00Speaker 1: entered into and out of monogamous relationships just trying to
- 35:03Speaker 1: find herself, but like it wasn't a good situation for her. Yeah,
- 35:07Speaker 1: you know, cut to Christine on the couch like, well,
- 35:09Speaker 1: I never knew that. I thought my mom loved her
- 35:12Speaker 1: sister wife. I thought we had such a great family.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So she was completely checked out of her mother's reality.
- 35:18Speaker 1: And when Annie left, Cody and Christine talk about how
- 35:23Speaker 1: they felt it was unsafe to have a relationship with her,
- 35:27Speaker 1: which is because maybe she'd try and take away their
- 35:29Speaker 1: kids or Annie would try to harm their family. And
- 35:32Speaker 1: was it Bonnie. I think it was Bonnie who told
- 35:35Speaker 1: Christine and Cody you got to let her see her grandbabies.
- 35:39Speaker 1: You got to keep her as a part of this family.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it was Bonnie or maybe Cody's mom too,
- 35:43Speaker 2: that said, like, this isn't fair for you to keep
- 35:45Speaker 2: her away from your guys's family. This is messed up.
- 35:49Speaker 2: And so Cody talks about how him and Christine would
- 35:52Speaker 2: reach out to Annie and she would reach back out
- 35:54Speaker 2: to them, and they were trying to work on their
- 35:56Speaker 2: relationship and they ultimately did. And Annie seems like the
- 36:01Speaker 2: kind of mom that you know, she doesn't approve of
- 36:04Speaker 2: your lifestyle, but she's just there because she loves you,
- 36:07Speaker 2: and she's just gonna be there for you until hopefully
- 36:10Speaker 2: one day you wake up out of the fog and
- 36:13Speaker 2: it ultimately does happen. Yes, I feel like Annie was
- 36:16Speaker 2: slowly like planting the seeds in Christine's head, like this
- 36:19Speaker 2: is not fucking healthy for you, because she can see
- 36:22Speaker 2: she could see her daughter was not happy. But Christine
- 36:25Speaker 2: at this time is in a bit of a denial
- 36:28Speaker 2: and still thinks that this is the lifestyle for her,
- 36:30Speaker 2: and that Cody's the man for her. And it's just
- 36:33Speaker 2: kind of a weird dynamic. I feel bad that Annie
- 36:37Speaker 2: was ostracized from her daughter's life just for making this decision,
- 36:42Speaker 2: but it is what it is.
- 36:43Speaker 1: She's a powerful woman, and I think that's where Christine
- 36:47Speaker 1: ultimately draws her strength when she has to get brave
- 36:50Speaker 1: and to leave Cody herself, and she can look back
- 36:53Speaker 1: at the demonstration of her mother, who did it on
- 36:56Speaker 1: her own without the support of anybody, including you, Christine. Yep,
- 36:59Speaker 1: with that, the support of anybody, and she made it.
- 37:01Speaker 1: And so if Annie can do it, that means you
- 37:03Speaker 1: can do it. And Christine, you had any support when
- 37:06Speaker 1: you did it, so you were very blessed.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Indeed, I wonder if they had like a like a
- 37:11Speaker 2: conversation after she left Cody where she just was like,
- 37:14Speaker 2: I'm sorry, mom, you were right because I don't have.
- 37:17Speaker 1: To hear about it.
- 37:17Speaker 2: If so, I know right, hopefully that's in the book.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Maybe it is.
- 37:20Speaker 2: That'd be great. Yeah, But after everybody cries about how
- 37:23Speaker 2: polygamy is just awful and terrible, but you know it's
- 37:26Speaker 2: good because God called us to do right. Sacred suffering.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Then we kind of end with a message about love
- 37:33Speaker 2: and how they're still a family and they're going to
- 37:35Speaker 2: do their recommitment ceremony later this season because they really
- 37:39Speaker 2: need to get back to the core of who and
- 37:42Speaker 2: what they are, And that's how we kind of end
- 37:46Speaker 2: the episode.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but again I say, they never really illuminate us
- 37:52Speaker 1: as to what the issue is. It's not the kids, Like,
- 37:56Speaker 1: it's not the children. The children are happy, they're so
- 37:59Speaker 1: glad to be together. The issue and it's there, like
- 38:03Speaker 1: it's underneath everything Cody's talking about. They're all kind of
- 38:06Speaker 1: acknowledging it on the couch, they're acknowledging it. We've got
- 38:08Speaker 1: Christine close to tears, Like the issue is what though,
- 38:12Speaker 1: Like are people fighting here? Is it like Mary and Janelle?
- 38:14Speaker 1: Are they fighting? Or are people already not getting time
- 38:18Speaker 1: with Cody whereas Robin is starting to get that time
- 38:21Speaker 1: in the cul de sac and everybody's looking out the
- 38:24Speaker 1: window and seeing who's getting what, Like what's happening right now?
- 38:27Speaker 1: We didn't actually learn what that was. Yeah, we just
- 38:30Speaker 1: continue to get the sense that Cody's over it and like,
- 38:33Speaker 1: you women need to figure this out because like if
- 38:35Speaker 1: I die are you going to still be a family?
- 38:38Speaker 1: Are you going to keep this together and intact? And
- 38:40Speaker 1: the answer looks like it's no. In season six, yep,
- 38:43Speaker 1: Like without Cody, they don't even want to be friends
- 38:45Speaker 1: with each other.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Well, and that's what's crazy, because he's saying this, and
- 38:48Speaker 2: I'm like, well, I guess I can see like there's
- 38:51Speaker 2: a divide obviously. I think like Christina and Janelle aren't
- 38:54Speaker 2: really good friends at this period of time, but they
- 38:57Speaker 2: get along with each other. And then there's Maria and Robbin,
- 38:59Speaker 2: like they're really is like a line in the sand
- 39:01Speaker 2: between the wives. There's obviously reasons for that though, because
- 39:04Speaker 2: Robin's a big old fucking bitch.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and Christine and.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Janelle have clocked her. Mary is totally manipulated by her
- 39:12Speaker 2: and totally simple, and Mary.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Is a big taker. Like Mary is taking family resources,
- 39:17Speaker 1: she's wanting even more, and so there are fundamental problems.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Then you've got somebody like Janelle, who I think it
- 39:23Speaker 1: was the last episode that we covered in season six
- 39:25Speaker 1: was just telling the family I'm okay by myself. I'm
- 39:28Speaker 1: okay just studying real estate. I'm okay doing my thing
- 39:31Speaker 1: over here with my kids. I don't want to be
- 39:33Speaker 1: a part of my sister wives dumbass closet. I don't
- 39:35Speaker 1: want to be a part of all of this. It's
- 39:37Speaker 1: like Janelle is signaling very clearly where she stands, and
- 39:41Speaker 1: I'm just like, there are big issues in this family.
- 39:44Speaker 1: And Christine, of course, is just in her I want
- 39:47Speaker 1: to say immature, but just like in a very raw
- 39:49Speaker 1: way of expressing herself. She's not happy either. She's definitely
- 39:53Speaker 1: not getting that time with Cody. Every time he looks
- 39:56Speaker 1: at her on the couch, I just think he cannot
- 39:58Speaker 1: stand her. As soon as she he opens her mouth,
- 40:00Speaker 1: he's cringing. He does not like this woman.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Oh my god, he does not like her at all.
- 40:04Speaker 2: It is so obvious. He doesn't like Mary either though,
- 40:07Speaker 2: like anytime Mary talks, he doesn't really have a good
- 40:11Speaker 2: look on his face either. So it's just crazy to see.
- 40:14Speaker 2: And it's crazy to see that their justification back then
- 40:18Speaker 2: was just like they're separate, they're not a family, And
- 40:21Speaker 2: then it somehow morphs into season nineteen where like everybody
- 40:24Speaker 2: hates Robin and nobody wanted to be friends with Robin,
- 40:27Speaker 2: and she came into this family cap in hand, and
- 40:30Speaker 2: like why doesn't everybody like Robin, like it turns into
- 40:33Speaker 2: this weird thing where everybody hates her, and I'm like, well, well.
- 40:37Speaker 1: It didn't turn into that, though, And that's the thing.
- 40:39Speaker 1: They've just been lying seasons after season. It started off
- 40:42Speaker 1: that way, yep. It started off with Christine side eyeing
- 40:45Speaker 1: her and I think in episode one season when saying like, yeah,
- 40:48Speaker 1: this is an issue. I have a problem with this. Yeah,
- 40:50Speaker 1: Like the problems were there from the very beginning. They
- 40:52Speaker 1: just kept lying about it, yep, saying it wasn't happening.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Cody's gaslighting all of these women, and so by the
- 40:58Speaker 1: time we get to season eighteen, season nineteen, everybody is
- 41:01Speaker 1: just over it and people are upset, and Cody and
- 41:04Speaker 1: Robin are still lying because lying liars lie exactly, and
- 41:09Speaker 1: that's who they are, period, yes on, period on, period. Well,
- 41:15Speaker 1: is there anything else that we want to say to
- 41:17Speaker 1: these beautiful raccoons before we get up on out of here?
- 41:19Speaker 2: Be Well, if you love our podcast, please go to
