- 2:09Speaker 2: these episodes. Tesz Johnson, Welcome to Busting with the Boys.
- 2:14Speaker 2: We are stoked to have you on. I feel like
- 2:18Speaker 2: you have had such a unique journey getting to this point.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Like I read and saw that you were adopted by
- 2:26Speaker 2: the Knicks family.
- 2:27Speaker 1: You were what fifteen years old?
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I was fifteen. When I was sixteen, it was
- 2:30Speaker 3: what April tweet thirty.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Don't be scared to put that thing close to the
- 2:34Speaker 2: list now, Oh Dann you got it tea.
- 2:37Speaker 4: So that's when the day I got adopted.
- 2:38Speaker 2: So talk about talk about getting to that point at
- 2:41Speaker 2: fifteen and being taken in by Coach Nix and their family.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I was reading some things like I saw your mother
- 2:48Speaker 2: have quotes in there and everything else.
- 2:50Speaker 1: But I would love to learn more about you know,
- 2:52Speaker 1: how you got there. It was a It was a
- 2:54Speaker 1: complete change for me.
- 2:55Speaker 3: It was a it was a different journey, as we
- 2:58Speaker 3: all know, because being a black kid just moving into
- 3:03Speaker 3: a a white house, and it was like, you have
- 3:07Speaker 3: to learn different ways of how to live life.
- 3:10Speaker 4: I was more.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I was more like I won't say on my own,
- 3:14Speaker 3: but I was more doing whatever I wanted, like defiant
- 3:16Speaker 3: as a kid.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Yeah, And they taught.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Me rules that you like, you got to obey some
- 3:22Speaker 3: rules to get what you need to be and you
- 3:23Speaker 3: have to do the right things to be well in
- 3:25Speaker 3: order to get what you need.
- 3:27Speaker 4: To get to.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And my biological mom loved them to death, like she
- 3:32Speaker 3: knows that they helped me a lot, and she's she's
- 3:35Speaker 3: always been supportive of what they've done and how they've
- 3:38Speaker 3: changed and impacted my life. It was kind of the
- 3:42Speaker 3: Knicks family taking some stress off my mom's shoulders, and
- 3:47Speaker 3: every day she she praised and every day that like
- 3:51Speaker 3: they continue to do that and make me a better
- 3:53Speaker 3: man like I am today.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So was this something that you were resistive to at first?
- 3:57Speaker 3: I wasn't like resistant because I remember walking into the
- 4:00Speaker 3: house and it was eting at the dinner table and
- 4:03Speaker 3: like me and my brothers like we always take the
- 4:04Speaker 3: play and go to the room and literally, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 3: like I always to have like dreams like eating at
- 4:09Speaker 3: the dinner table, and we did some nights, but it
- 4:11Speaker 3: wasn't like everybody else that's just take their plate to
- 4:13Speaker 3: the room and play the game or whatever for but
- 4:17Speaker 3: they was eating at the dinner table. I was like, okay,
- 4:19Speaker 3: I don't want to leave like they eat at the
- 4:20Speaker 3: dinner table. Okay, I want to stay. So that was
- 4:23Speaker 3: I never told them that. I never like showed it
- 4:25Speaker 3: because I was still I was scared to death. As
- 4:27Speaker 3: soon as I walked in house. I was scared to death.
- 4:28Speaker 3: It was it's me and everybody eyes on me. Now
- 4:31Speaker 3: I'm like all right, okay, like what am we gonna do?
- 4:34Speaker 3: And I was just spooked the whole time.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Was spooked.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Were you like like before that or were you around like
- 4:40Speaker 2: wrong groups of people or are you like getting into trouble?
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:43Speaker 3: I was getting into trouble around the room people. I
- 4:45Speaker 3: was always getting suspended from school. I used to never
- 4:49Speaker 3: like come home. I used to just end up showing
- 4:51Speaker 3: back to showing back up to school the next day,
- 4:55Speaker 3: just because like football, I was always good at football.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I was actually just getting becoming better at football, and
- 5:01Speaker 3: I knew that was just a way I can cope
- 5:03Speaker 3: with all the problems at home, or.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Like just to get my mind off everything.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Football was my passion and the way I can just
- 5:11Speaker 3: cope with a lot of stuff. So I used to
- 5:13Speaker 3: never go home and I should just be out with
- 5:16Speaker 3: the wrong people, and just I knew the next day
- 5:18Speaker 3: how to get to school, whether I walked or whether
- 5:20Speaker 3: I rolled with somebody, but I was always at school
- 5:24Speaker 3: the next day and just like there for football, like
- 5:28Speaker 3: I couldn't miss football. It was like like my dad
- 5:31Speaker 3: he made it so strict of like you can't miss football,
- 5:33Speaker 3: like you have to do this, like football is that
- 5:36Speaker 3: had like a kind of a structure of my life
- 5:38Speaker 3: to what like I know, like I can't miss this
- 5:40Speaker 3: or I can't play like.
- 5:43Speaker 4: So that that's pretty much what it was.
- 5:45Speaker 2: You and you think too, like if you're if you're
- 5:48Speaker 2: in like the wrong crowds or you're getting into trouble
- 5:50Speaker 2: or anything like that, you would think I would almost
- 5:52Speaker 2: assume that you almost wouldn't have had the mentality of Okay,
- 5:56Speaker 2: there he is a dinner table.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I want to sit here.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I want to be here, like knowing that this is
- 5:59Speaker 2: the right thing for where you Do you feel like
- 6:00Speaker 2: you even even though you were hanging around wrong look
- 6:04Speaker 2: like wrong groups and in the wrong situations, do you
- 6:05Speaker 2: feel like you were always somebody that kind of was
- 6:07Speaker 2: like sitting back and seeing, like, you know, whether it's
- 6:09Speaker 2: showing up to school the next day or being like
- 6:11Speaker 2: I don't want necessarily want to be a part of this.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm just kind of like this is just my association.
- 6:15Speaker 3: That's what I was always thinking, Like, they'll go do
- 6:18Speaker 3: some bad stuff, and I knew it was bad, but
- 6:20Speaker 3: sometimes I can just get like pulled into it just
- 6:23Speaker 3: because I'm around the wrong people and I knew it
- 6:26Speaker 3: was the wrong thing to do, but I just did
- 6:27Speaker 3: it just because of like that's all I knew at
- 6:31Speaker 3: the time.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I always used to be like, oh no, like this
- 6:36Speaker 3: can give me a trouble for football, I can't play,
- 6:39Speaker 3: But I still used to do it, and I used
- 6:40Speaker 3: to get away with it, and until that last time,
- 6:43Speaker 3: I didn't get away with anything.
- 6:45Speaker 4: So I just dealt with that that for like a year.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Are you a going to talk about the last time?
- 6:51Speaker 1: I prefer not to talk about it.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fine, But it was just like I can
- 6:56Speaker 3: tell you like the situation. Definitely, I'm happy I made
- 7:00Speaker 3: it when I was young, and now that I'm older,
- 7:04Speaker 3: it makes me more careful about every decision I make,
- 7:07Speaker 3: whether that's buying food at the store or whether that's
- 7:09Speaker 3: going someplace like just to get food, Like it makes
- 7:13Speaker 3: me think three times before I do anything.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So you're in Bo's relationship, talk about that when you
- 7:18Speaker 2: move into the house. You guys obviously want to stay
- 7:21Speaker 2: titled together.
- 7:22Speaker 3: So standing all right, stand with Bo? Was Bo was
- 7:27Speaker 3: always serious, still is serious to this day. Like he
- 7:29Speaker 3: was he was a kid in high school, like nobody
- 7:31Speaker 3: wanted to talk to, Like he was scary. He was
- 7:34Speaker 3: like my dad for real, like seriously, like he was
- 7:37Speaker 3: always like in school, he's doing his homework, he's at baseball,
- 7:41Speaker 3: or he's at football, like he was already a college
- 7:44Speaker 3: student in high school.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Like he was just a pro, a pro at a
- 7:48Speaker 4: young age.
- 7:48Speaker 3: And you could just tell, like kudos to my dad
- 7:50Speaker 3: and my parents, Like my parents like they raised him
- 7:53Speaker 3: to be this this well kid, and everybody knows, like
- 7:57Speaker 3: he was a baby, he was bad, like like that's
- 7:59Speaker 3: how he grew up.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Like he was he was a hard headed kid.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But yeah, as he got older, you can just tell
- 8:03Speaker 3: like he was raised to be all right, you got
- 8:06Speaker 3: to be a pro to everything you do.
- 8:07Speaker 4: You have to do this, And me, I'm looking at
- 8:10Speaker 4: that at a young age.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Now when I moved in with him, I'm like, Okay,
- 8:12Speaker 3: if he can do it, I can do it, Like
- 8:14Speaker 3: you know, like I was trying to follow in his footsteps,
- 8:17Speaker 3: but it is at a different position. But before he
- 8:19Speaker 3: got there, I was at quarterback. So I moved to
- 8:21Speaker 3: dB and you look at them highlights. I was a
- 8:24Speaker 3: little I can talk nice, but seriousness I was. I
- 8:29Speaker 3: was the receiver, scared to death and like the stuff
- 8:33Speaker 3: he used to do. And he used to just tell me.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I just always believed, and I knew I couldn't drop
- 8:39Speaker 3: a pass from him. Like if I dropped the pass
- 8:41Speaker 3: from him, I feel like I let everybody down, especially him,
- 8:45Speaker 3: because he was just so like I said, he was
- 8:47Speaker 3: just so top tier in high school, like he was
- 8:49Speaker 3: this guy, he was the number one quarterback.
- 8:51Speaker 4: He was missed football like he had all sorts of records.
- 8:54Speaker 3: But in the back of my head, I'm like, okay,
- 8:56Speaker 3: I can do that too, Like what if I get
- 8:58Speaker 3: in that picture and break a record or something like that.
- 9:00Speaker 3: But my first game, I go out there against Hoover
- 9:04Speaker 3: High School. We played George Pickens and everybody you know, like.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Georgia the two days school.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Oh my goodness at Hoover, like he was a man
- 9:11Speaker 3: of mons boys. I didn't watched George Pickens do some
- 9:14Speaker 3: stuff in high school.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Like it was.
- 9:16Speaker 3: It was crazy crazy. So we go out there and
- 9:17Speaker 3: playing on ESPN for the this is my very first game.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I'm starting.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'm one thirty.
- 9:21Speaker 3: It's your first game, first game in high school, like
- 9:23Speaker 3: actually playing starting like ESPN.
- 9:26Speaker 4: We played the.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Hoover matt where they played the College World Series, like
- 9:30Speaker 3: like I'm in the game and I'm one thirty, soaking wet,
- 9:33Speaker 3: and I'm I'm balling, like I'm out there balling. I
- 9:36Speaker 3: was the first touchdown for like the whole four the
- 9:39Speaker 3: whole the whole game was the first touchdown until at
- 9:41Speaker 3: the end they took all their good players out. We
- 9:43Speaker 3: got beat fifty five to fourteams, but.
- 9:47Speaker 1: We got beat bad. I'm balling.
- 9:50Speaker 4: I had like twelve catches.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I had like one hundred and twelve yards in a
- 9:52Speaker 3: touchdown for like the whole game, and right then there
- 9:55Speaker 3: I knew, okay, I can play like I can play
- 9:58Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 9:58Speaker 4: I had little confidence, but I was still timid and scared.
- 10:02Speaker 4: I didn't know the game.
- 10:02Speaker 3: I was just running out there, running routes, playing catching.
- 10:05Speaker 3: They used to tell me, Like in high school, my
- 10:07Speaker 3: dad used to call plays like menu nine, T whip
- 10:10Speaker 3: or T did because I didn't understand the concepts at
- 10:12Speaker 3: the time. But Bo and my dad took upon himself,
- 10:16Speaker 3: like when both left, my dad and my little brother
- 10:19Speaker 3: Caleb worked with me more like learning plays and just
- 10:24Speaker 3: being able to understand, like where you need to be.
- 10:27Speaker 3: There was no more why you need to be there? Yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 3: why I need to be there? Like it was no
- 10:30Speaker 3: more a T whip or T dig or T corner.
- 10:33Speaker 3: It was like Menu nine H posts all right, nah,
- 10:36Speaker 3: I no, Like I'm the age now, I'm the post guy.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I'm finna take the top off the defense now, Like
- 10:40Speaker 3: I knew that and like and that helped me so
- 10:43Speaker 3: so much, Like in the long run and now that
- 10:46Speaker 3: I can see everything, everything moves slow for me now
- 10:49Speaker 3: and like high school was, I feel like high school
- 10:53Speaker 3: we was the sixth A, but the coaches we had
- 10:55Speaker 3: was college coaches, like my dad was like straight hard
- 11:00Speaker 3: nose still is like hard nos, like you're gonna have
- 11:03Speaker 3: to do it this way or you cannot play like
- 11:06Speaker 3: and you have to buy in. And I bought in
- 11:08Speaker 3: and it's been doing me justice whole Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Man, talk about because your recruiting journey is obviously different
- 11:14Speaker 2: than Bo's Bow's goes Auburn for for four years, you
- 11:16Speaker 2: start off and go to Troy. Talk about your recruiting
- 11:19Speaker 2: journey and getting to Troy. Were you were you tight
- 11:22Speaker 2: that you weren't more recruited coming out of high school? No?
- 11:25Speaker 4: I was.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Actually I kind of like knew, like towards the end
- 11:29Speaker 3: of my senior year, like all right, I'm a small guy,
- 11:32Speaker 3: but like I can play like I knew colleges was
- 11:36Speaker 3: not going to take chances on me, and Tennessee almost
- 11:38Speaker 3: took a chance on me.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Kentucky almost took a chance on me.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Damn Tennessee.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I can't remember the coach, was it Stoops or something?
- 11:48Speaker 3: Or that's Kentucky. That's Kentucky. That's Kentucky.
- 11:51Speaker 1: So what year was this?
- 11:53Speaker 4: Twenty twenty?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Who's that couch? Twenty twenty? Prew it, prew it, It
- 11:57Speaker 1: was prew it.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Jeremy Prouy and was on the phone and we was
- 11:59Speaker 3: a Lee Lee Levin and Tennessee and we got on
- 12:03Speaker 3: the phone with him. He was just asking can I
- 12:04Speaker 3: do puvertunism or whatnot. He didn't take me. So I
- 12:08Speaker 3: went to a camp in Kentucky with my coach coach Hat,
- 12:11Speaker 3: and they offered me at Kentucky and they pulled it
- 12:13Speaker 3: at the last second.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Is because somebody else committed there.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Somebody else committed there before me, and I wanted to commit.
- 12:20Speaker 4: And I remember in the.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Car, I was like, Dad, I just want to wait.
- 12:22Speaker 3: My dad was like, you have to pick somewhere to go.
- 12:25Speaker 3: It's up to you. Like you can make your own choice,
- 12:27Speaker 3: but you had to pick somewhere to go. And I
- 12:29Speaker 3: knew coach Lindsey very well, Like Coach Lindsay was at
- 12:32Speaker 3: Auburn for the first time, like he was like when
- 12:34Speaker 3: I knew him. He was at Arburn and he was
- 12:38Speaker 3: on the GUS milesone and he went to Troy and
- 12:41Speaker 3: I was like, okay. He called me one day. I
- 12:43Speaker 3: was like, what are you doing. I was like, Coach,
- 12:45Speaker 3: I'm eating dinner. Like I'm just eating dinner with my family.
- 12:48Speaker 3: He was like, go ahead and commit and come here
- 12:51Speaker 3: and just ball out. I hung up the phone and
- 12:53Speaker 3: I committed, Like that's how that's how well. I knew
- 12:56Speaker 3: coach Lindsay and he was an empty sat and I
- 12:58Speaker 3: got them in my freshman year. And he had a
- 13:00Speaker 3: guy by the name of Rusty Way in the weight room,
- 13:03Speaker 3: and he literally Rusty with put the foundation of me,
- 13:06Speaker 3: like for his strength. Like people look at me now
- 13:09Speaker 3: like I'm little, but you go into the weight room,
- 13:11Speaker 3: I'm squading five hundred or I'm dad lifting.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I can put four or five on the.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Over exactually put I can put four and five in
- 13:19Speaker 3: repid and I can clean two ninety five.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Okay, I'm dead serious. You guys believe you.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I believe that.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Like like I'm like, he put the foundation for his
- 13:31Speaker 3: strength on me.
- 13:32Speaker 2: He's letting motherfuckers know, like you might listen like, hey,
- 13:37Speaker 2: don't get it twisted.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I can do it. I can do something the weight room.
- 13:40Speaker 3: It's just like and like when I enter college and
- 13:44Speaker 3: Boat went to Arburn, I wouldn't necessarily like thinking like, Okay,
- 13:47Speaker 3: I'm gonna beat back.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Up with him again.
- 13:49Speaker 3: My my my always thought process was I'm gonna go
- 13:52Speaker 3: to Troy and I'm Finna show everybody like I supposed
- 13:55Speaker 3: to be at a big, big college and my dad
- 13:58Speaker 3: supported me, like cluse to my dad, he kept me
- 14:01Speaker 3: in a statementally to where like I've never went into
- 14:05Speaker 3: like a shell and like realized do I belong? Like
- 14:09Speaker 3: I went in there confident as a freshman, thinking like
- 14:12Speaker 3: I'm a senior, like this is my spot, this is
- 14:14Speaker 3: where I put belong, this is where I stayed, and.
- 14:17Speaker 4: He like gosh, he just made me so much better,
- 14:22Speaker 4: like he didn't know, he don't know how to ever
- 14:24Speaker 4: let you feed into your doubts, like you.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Know, like because not saying it wasn't doubts there, but
- 14:28Speaker 3: he took my my mind completely away from it. Like
- 14:32Speaker 3: I went there and I was behind Kaitlyn Geiger and
- 14:37Speaker 3: a guy.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Named Trey I forgot his last name, but they was
- 14:41Speaker 4: really good.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Kayln Gogy transferred to Texas Tech and I got the
- 14:44Speaker 3: opportunity to play, and ever since then, the balls started
- 14:47Speaker 3: coming to me and like the quarterback knew like I'm
- 14:51Speaker 3: the type of guy like I'm gonna know my quarterback
- 14:53Speaker 3: before they learned out who I am. If he if
- 14:57Speaker 3: his arm is like not big is what they supposed
- 14:59Speaker 3: to be I'm not gonna run my fasts on the
- 15:01Speaker 3: deep ball because it's gonna be on the thrown right,
- 15:03Speaker 3: So I'm gonna make it look like it's on the
- 15:05Speaker 3: money and catch it over my shoulder. And literally they
- 15:09Speaker 3: know like those little things I took pridey in, like who,
- 15:12Speaker 3: I don't care who the quarterback is, Like who you was, Like,
- 15:15Speaker 3: that's that's just me. I'm gonna I'm gonna know you
- 15:17Speaker 3: before you know me. You gonna know I can run
- 15:18Speaker 3: her out. You gonna know that I can catch a
- 15:20Speaker 3: football because that's my job. That's what I'm supposed to do.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But like it's the little things for me for a quarterback.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Did you did you always think about using Troy to
- 15:31Speaker 2: get to the next thing?
- 15:32Speaker 4: Uh?
- 15:34Speaker 2: Probably, like to know, and maybe even the coaches at
- 15:36Speaker 2: Troy would think the same thing. Like I feel like
- 15:38Speaker 2: when I talk to coaches that I know now that
- 15:40Speaker 2: I might have you know, had at Nebraska that are
- 15:42Speaker 2: at a smaller school and they're the way that they recruit,
- 15:44Speaker 2: They'll be, hey, come here for a couple of years.
- 15:46Speaker 1: You can now hit the portal, Like just use us
- 15:48Speaker 1: to get to the next thing.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Like it wasn't necessarily that I didn't know about PFF
- 15:52Speaker 3: throughout my whole college career into that, like that last
- 15:55Speaker 3: two years at Troy, like I didn't know about any
- 15:57Speaker 3: of that stuff. Like they used to be like PFF,
- 15:59Speaker 3: hey you ranked number one O you you dober two
- 16:01Speaker 3: behind Marvin Harrison. I'm like, bro, what is that? Like
- 16:03Speaker 3: what is PFF. They're like that's player of football focused,
- 16:06Speaker 3: Like you don't know what that is. I'm like, no,
- 16:08Speaker 3: I never really like I'm not into the like media
- 16:10Speaker 3: and like just excuse me, like going out there and
- 16:14Speaker 3: just like looking at me, like what am I ranked?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Like on im a five hole? Let's try to get
- 16:18Speaker 3: no more.
- 16:19Speaker 4: No, I wasn't.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I was just out there playing and literally they know
- 16:22Speaker 3: like I was at Troy with Organ gloves.
- 16:24Speaker 4: On, Like like I got a.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Picture with me with Organ gloves on in the Troy uniform.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Like that's how bad I loved Organ, Like I wanted
- 16:33Speaker 3: to go to Organ this whole time, like throughout my
- 16:36Speaker 3: whole life. Everybody know I'm an Organ fan, like my family,
- 16:39Speaker 3: my oldest brother, like my biological oldest brother Auburn fan.
- 16:42Speaker 3: My youngest brother is an Ohio State fan. I don't
- 16:44Speaker 3: know if he comes to the game. I'm sorry, but
- 16:47Speaker 3: like and I'm an Organ fan. Me and my stepdad's Organ.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Who got you on the organ? Showed you a game or.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Like like my stepdad used to come in like at
- 16:55Speaker 3: the work because you know Oregon down South, they come
- 16:57Speaker 3: on later, right, So I to sneak up late and
- 17:01Speaker 3: watch the games as my mom told us to go
- 17:02Speaker 3: to bed for school and watch Organ and Danthen Thomas,
- 17:07Speaker 3: oh Man like Key's. He was a little guy and
- 17:11Speaker 3: I was a little guy too, but I didn't know
- 17:12Speaker 3: about waiting and stuff like that, but he was.
- 17:14Speaker 4: He was doing stuff out there.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I used to go try out against like my homeboys
- 17:18Speaker 3: outside and like and I knew used to never get tackled,
- 17:21Speaker 3: never get tackled. I'm until like I'm so tired, I'm
- 17:24Speaker 3: gonna just get a ball up, Like okay, you can
- 17:26Speaker 3: have the ball. But I used to mimic who Pharaoh Brown,
- 17:30Speaker 3: Danthon Thomas like all those guys.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Like I used to just go out there and try
- 17:33Speaker 4: to mimic.
- 17:34Speaker 3: And then my stepdad was like he look at this
- 17:36Speaker 3: jersey they got on this week or there, come out
- 17:38Speaker 3: here with this jersey. I'm like, oh my goodness like
- 17:43Speaker 3: now like when I was a young age, it was
- 17:44Speaker 3: like d entherther Thomas and the jerseys, like okay, I
- 17:46Speaker 3: want to go there, Like every day I used to
- 17:48Speaker 3: beg for, like a Orgon hoodie, like an Oregon hoodie.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I used to just beg for it, just beg for.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And I finally got one when I was like going
- 17:56Speaker 3: through like I was leaving middle school. I got an
- 17:58Speaker 3: organ hood I never took it off, like I ever
- 18:00Speaker 3: took it off.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I don't.
- 18:00Speaker 3: I don't even think I watched that thing, which I
- 18:03Speaker 3: don't even think I used to watch that thing, like
- 18:06Speaker 3: I used to like just wear it like they know,
- 18:09Speaker 3: like everybody who knows me from knee high on to
- 18:13Speaker 3: now the normal organ fan.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I'm a diehard organ fan, like and they probably watched
- 18:18Speaker 2: it like this man is legitimately living.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Living, living it.
- 18:21Speaker 3: And then it's so real to me because when I
- 18:23Speaker 3: entered the portal, I'm like, okay, up on, like you
- 18:28Speaker 3: can see my comments. It got duck emojis, and I'm like, okay,
- 18:31Speaker 3: maybe it can, maybe it can happen. Not not even
- 18:34Speaker 3: seeing signs I'm thinking of, Like I text Bowl and
- 18:37Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, bo, you think we're going to take me.
- 18:39Speaker 1: This is him joking.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I tell the story every time because it's so funny
- 18:42Speaker 3: to me. This is around Christmas time, Like I text
- 18:45Speaker 3: him like, hey, bo, you think or going to take me?
- 18:46Speaker 3: He text me, nah, probably not. Like he crushed my dreams.
- 18:53Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, crushing, I'm thinking low.
- 18:55Speaker 2: You can't put in a good Okay, you supposed to
- 18:58Speaker 2: be brothers, but like but nah, I'm thinking now, I'm
- 19:01Speaker 2: thinking low, like Memphis, like just lower schools.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I can just stay down south and I can. I
- 19:07Speaker 4: kid you not.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Like the next day, when my name officially entered the portal,
- 19:11Speaker 3: I get a miscall for my mom, like two of them,
- 19:13Speaker 3: and I got thirteen or twelve misscalls and it's all
- 19:17Speaker 3: from like big ten schools, Big ten and Pac twelve.
- 19:21Speaker 3: But it's not one of them from Oregon. I think
- 19:24Speaker 3: the first one called me was Nebraska. Nah, not Nebraska.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I'm gonna say Wisconsin. Wisconsin called me. That's the first
- 19:33Speaker 3: uh call I really answered. Then they offered me, and
- 19:36Speaker 3: then Penn State, then Oklahoma State, and then it started
- 19:41Speaker 3: rolling UCLA. I'm like, all right, now it's starting to roll.
- 19:43Speaker 3: My mom was like, hey, you need to pick up
- 19:44Speaker 3: the phone. Did you put my number on the transfer?
- 19:46Speaker 3: I'm like, yes, ma'am. I didn't really know. I just
- 19:48Speaker 3: signed the paper. I like at this point, like I fulfill,
- 19:51Speaker 3: like I'm into it. Like I was so scared entering.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I tasted my dad like that, I'm really scared, Like
- 19:56Speaker 3: just pray on it. And I prayed what made you scared?
- 19:59Speaker 2: To joy the portal of thing, fact that you're leaving
- 20:00Speaker 2: Troy and letting people down, or like damn, is anybody
- 20:03Speaker 2: gonna want me?
- 20:04Speaker 4: Uh that?
- 20:05Speaker 3: Both of them like so when I leaving Troy, like
- 20:07Speaker 3: Troy fan based, like I love Troy. Troy supported me
- 20:11Speaker 3: in so many ways. It was it was unreal. Every
- 20:15Speaker 3: time I go back down south, I go to Troy
- 20:16Speaker 3: just because the people they supported me so much throughout thinking.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Then because the first half of the season that last
- 20:24Speaker 3: year I was there, I was hurt, separated my clavicle
- 20:27Speaker 3: and it was it was just all bad.
- 20:29Speaker 1: And then I came back up state.
- 20:31Speaker 3: We lost some college game day don't want to talk
- 20:33Speaker 3: about it, but I came back in it. But we
- 20:35Speaker 3: won a championship. Then the support from the Troy fans
- 20:37Speaker 3: was unreal. The student section is unreal, like, but I
- 20:42Speaker 3: just felt like I fulfill my destiny and I was
- 20:44Speaker 3: kind of scared of leaving them. And then I thought
- 20:45Speaker 3: and then I was like, Okay, now who's gonna take me?
- 20:49Speaker 4: Now I'm going through this process.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I think I'm going through this process again of like
- 20:53Speaker 3: who's gonna take me? I'm still a little guy, but
- 20:55Speaker 3: because at Troy, I'm gonna put it out there. At Troy,
- 20:58Speaker 3: I was one forty five playing, so can we like
- 21:00Speaker 3: I got there one thirty five playing as a true freshman,
- 21:03Speaker 3: Like I'm I'm just out there running scared and scared,
- 21:06Speaker 3: like trying to get here. Yeah, just trying not to
- 21:09Speaker 3: get here, still trying to not get here, don't get
- 21:11Speaker 3: me wrong, still trying to get hit.
- 21:13Speaker 4: But I'm I'm still a little gud there running around.
- 21:15Speaker 3: But I was just scared of just leaving and nobody
- 21:19Speaker 3: taking me and going through the process again. Now I'm
- 21:20Speaker 3: just back to square one, right, But then again, now
- 21:24Speaker 3: we're at the dinner table.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Bow comes in the house with a bag but he
- 21:26Speaker 4: won't let me see it.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And I get a call from coach Junior Adams and
- 21:33Speaker 3: I think it's a Cali area code. I want to
- 21:34Speaker 3: say it's a Calid area code, and I'm answering the phone.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I'm like hello, like Norman, Hello. I'm like I'm thinking this,
- 21:41Speaker 3: Like who I'm thinking of this? I forgot who I'm
- 21:44Speaker 3: thinking that. I'm thinking it's texts in them because they
- 21:46Speaker 3: just follow me on Twitter. So I'm like, all right,
- 21:47Speaker 3: takes infit off of me. So he called me, but
- 21:49Speaker 3: it's a Calid area code. I should have known. Like
- 21:52Speaker 3: that's not like he text in. I should have known that.
- 21:55Speaker 3: So I answered. He was like, hey, this is Junior
- 21:56Speaker 3: Adam from Oregon, and I was like, what a pause.
- 22:00Speaker 3: He's talking in my ear. But I'm looking at my
- 22:02Speaker 3: mom like this or like it's Organ. Like Mom is
- 22:06Speaker 3: like it's so real. They on the phone and he
- 22:09Speaker 3: was like, we want to offer your scholarship with this.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Something you wanna do? I said, coach, I'm committed, Like
- 22:13Speaker 3: that's the next words in my mouth, Like I don't
- 22:15Speaker 3: care who else offered me after this, I'm committing.
- 22:16Speaker 4: I'm going to Organ.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Like it's don'tky how far where it is. It could
- 22:19Speaker 3: have been in somewhere else down farther than where it
- 22:22Speaker 3: is now, but I'm going to Organ. I'm going out
- 22:25Speaker 3: there and by this time I didn't know Bo was staying.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I'm thinking he leave him to the NFL. I'm still
- 22:31Speaker 3: not not in my head. I'm still thinking like, okay,
- 22:33Speaker 3: I'm going out there by myself all along, and then
- 22:35Speaker 3: the video comes out he's back. I'm like, oh, not
- 22:38Speaker 3: in the world and the no like it's this is
- 22:41Speaker 3: gonna be crazy because us together is an' oh my goodness,
- 22:45Speaker 3: that's like that's like putting jumper cables on the wrong way,
- 22:49Speaker 3: Like you know what I'm saying, Like like me and
- 22:52Speaker 3: both together some it's some serious like and just being
- 22:56Speaker 3: able to get the organ with him again and was
- 22:58Speaker 3: like in breaking records again and not knowing I was
- 23:01Speaker 3: on the road to breaking the record anyway, because he
- 23:03Speaker 3: always kept my mind away from everything and he still do.
- 23:06Speaker 4: He'll text me every other day and be like you
- 23:07Speaker 4: suck like you know him, Yeah you're not.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Him, like like you just and that's his way of saying,
- 23:14Speaker 3: stay humble, don't feed into the media. And I still
- 23:21Speaker 3: thank him of that. But as soon as I committed,
- 23:23Speaker 3: he come out with an organ shirt to gloves and
- 23:26Speaker 3: some shorts. I'm like, you knew the whole time, Like
- 23:28Speaker 3: you knew the whole time. You could have told me
- 23:30Speaker 3: some of my hopes wouldn't get up or something like,
- 23:32Speaker 3: he could have told me. I was just waiting it
- 23:34Speaker 3: like I'm sitting there like my dreams are crushed. I'm
- 23:37Speaker 3: never going to organ And then I get the phone call.
- 23:40Speaker 3: He got the he got the gloves for me. It
- 23:42Speaker 3: was the pink breast cancer gloves they wore from U. C.
- 23:45Speaker 2: L A.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Yeah, now it was time to Now I'm going to
- 23:48Speaker 3: put some drip on and I'm the best dripper in college.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I can tell you that right now. You number one,
- 23:53Speaker 2: number one, number one. I don't care no one close second.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Who's out there? Whose game you respect? Who's aim I respect?
- 24:01Speaker 3: Just hands down, Like if I turn on the film,
- 24:03Speaker 3: who who the guy I want to watch? Hands drip,
- 24:06Speaker 3: drip wise or take dew tank Dell, tank Dell, got
- 24:10Speaker 3: some drip on them, Stephan Diggs, dude, But you're.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Number one in college. There's nobody you see in college
- 24:18Speaker 2: that kind of camp.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Put nobody else.
- 24:19Speaker 3: And you can go to my profile you can see
- 24:21Speaker 3: like I got that drip on everything color coordinated, but
- 24:23Speaker 3: I'm an offset it with the moutheace.
- 24:25Speaker 4: I'm gonna messing up with the mouths.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I'm telling him every time, I'm I'm gonna do something
- 24:29Speaker 3: totally different. Something you think you saw, but it's different.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Oh no, wait, now he got the spat on the one.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I may need to do that. You can't do that.
- 24:39Speaker 4: You can't. You just gotta put a little splat on it.
- 24:41Speaker 5: You can't.
- 24:41Speaker 4: I can't do too much. You can't do too much.
- 24:46Speaker 4: But you can do it though.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Oh he's electric, bro, He's electric, dude? Could it outside
- 24:53Speaker 2: of obviously you guys you want to win the PAC
- 24:55Speaker 2: twelfth title, and outside of your two losses?
- 24:57Speaker 1: Could it? Could it have went any better for you? Nah?
- 25:01Speaker 2: I feel like record and what receptions? Third most yards
- 25:05Speaker 2: in a single season, and you're growing up loving the
- 25:07Speaker 2: Anthony Thomas Like you're mimicking these guys, and now you
- 25:10Speaker 2: hold a record.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I couldn't have worked out any better for you.
- 25:16Speaker 4: It was. It was.
- 25:16Speaker 3: It's so real me actually going out here and racing
- 25:18Speaker 3: death and Thomas a beaning was so real for me.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Like he got out here in the lineup and off
- 25:24Speaker 3: the line, I got Hi'm like, yeah he probably.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Just oh right now, his knees.
- 25:27Speaker 3: He lost a little step in I'm still I'm still
- 25:30Speaker 3: a little young guy, but now it's so real, like
- 25:32Speaker 3: it could have got any better way than what it is.
- 25:34Speaker 3: God writes his story in so many ways, and every
- 25:38Speaker 3: day I remind myself to live in his presence and
- 25:40Speaker 3: give thanks to him because it's only possible because of him.
- 25:42Speaker 3: So me saying the record was because I feel like
- 25:47Speaker 3: that's the.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Quarterback, your brother. You got your brother back in the pocket.
- 25:52Speaker 1: You know I'm closer to.
- 25:56Speaker 3: It was No, it was just one of the things,
- 25:58Speaker 3: like one of my my teammate, my rooms, my receiver
- 26:01Speaker 3: room is so supportive of me, Trot Franklin, Coach Adams.
- 26:04Speaker 3: They they taught me so much as far as courages
- 26:08Speaker 3: and knowing who's in knowing who can guard you, who
- 26:11Speaker 3: can't guard you, which nobody can guard me, not on me,
- 26:14Speaker 3: not on the big ass stuff, but like that's how
- 26:17Speaker 3: I carry myself every day. But just knowing, like who's
- 26:21Speaker 3: gonna be out there going to you on this play,
- 26:23Speaker 3: who's going to be sea hawk, double team you on
- 26:26Speaker 3: this play? Knowing how to beat it, like Troy Franklin
- 26:29Speaker 3: taught me so much in his years here. It's it's
- 26:32Speaker 3: so real, but we're gonna get washed the back. Don't
- 26:35Speaker 3: don't worry about it. It's it's okay. Last game I've seen,
- 26:38Speaker 3: see you to night. We got something coming for y'all.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, what can we What can we expect this upcoming season?
- 26:42Speaker 1: Generation generational?
- 26:44Speaker 3: Oh, I'm telling you right now, nobody in the country
- 26:47Speaker 3: got the stuff like Orgon, nobody. We touch it first,
- 26:50Speaker 3: and y'all get it right after us. That's what y'all
- 26:52Speaker 3: gonna get it right after us every time. Every time
- 26:55Speaker 3: we touch it first. Every time you see something new,
- 26:57Speaker 3: we touched it first, way before even hit the net.
- 26:59Speaker 1: So yo, he's a juice.
- 27:03Speaker 2: How about Uh? So you got you had Bowl last year?
- 27:06Speaker 2: You have Dylan Gabriel this year. What have you seen
- 27:08Speaker 2: so far out of him?
- 27:09Speaker 1: Uh?
- 27:10Speaker 2: You take a lot of pride in on the quarterback
- 27:11Speaker 2: before they know you, Like, what have you seen?
- 27:13Speaker 3: He's electric, He's a more he's more of a receiver
- 27:19Speaker 3: type of mindset guy. Like I say that because he
- 27:23Speaker 3: talks trash. You know what I'm saying. Okay, Oh, okay,
- 27:26Speaker 3: he threw a whole shot completed.
- 27:28Speaker 4: You like that?
- 27:28Speaker 1: Huh?
- 27:29Speaker 3: Okay, Like, let's do it like he's a he's a
- 27:31Speaker 3: good quarterback. He's smart. You love to compete. That's one
- 27:34Speaker 3: thing I see from Like Bow's a silent assassin. Yeah,
- 27:38Speaker 3: like you know he's gonna pick you apart, and like
- 27:40Speaker 3: you're gonna have to respect him at the end of
- 27:41Speaker 3: the game, Like you're gonna walk up to him shake
- 27:43Speaker 3: his hand, like, oh you're good dealing' gonna let you
- 27:46Speaker 3: know he's good while he throwing that ball, Like he
- 27:48Speaker 3: go ball, Lefty, that's a dot. Yeah, here go, Like
- 27:52Speaker 3: let's let's keep it rolling. Like Delan is a deal's
- 27:54Speaker 3: a guy. He's really good.
- 27:55Speaker 4: He's he's goofy bro like he's in the locker room.
- 27:58Speaker 3: The difference between them like bows like bows a like
- 28:04Speaker 3: I said, he's a pro. Like you'll see him one
- 28:06Speaker 3: of two times, like in the locker room and he'll
- 28:10Speaker 3: crack jokes and then get out and then get to.
- 28:12Speaker 1: His means do his thing.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Dylan, he's one of the bros. Like he's gonna be
- 28:16Speaker 3: in there, he gonna get everything. He gonna get everything
- 28:19Speaker 3: done early, then chill with us in the locker room.
- 28:20Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Like he's he want to
- 28:22Speaker 3: be a part of the team. Whi's not saying that
- 28:24Speaker 3: they don't want to be a part of the team
- 28:25Speaker 3: like he's he was way a part of the team.
- 28:27Speaker 4: He always said something to.
- 28:28Speaker 3: A different personality. Yeah, he's just it's just different. Like
- 28:31Speaker 3: we see dialing in the locker room every day. He
- 28:33Speaker 3: come in there and he'll yell just for no reason.
- 28:36Speaker 3: He go here you go, and he carries that to
- 28:41Speaker 3: the field. Yeah, he sways the drippiest quarterback in college.
- 28:45Speaker 3: But I don't think so right now. He got to
- 28:48Speaker 3: put something on, like he he got some tattoos in
- 28:51Speaker 3: the tattoos make up for you know what I'm saying.
- 28:53Speaker 4: But he gotta put something on.
- 28:54Speaker 1: You gotta get him right now.
- 28:56Speaker 4: I don't think I can get him right though. I
- 28:59Speaker 4: think it's the helmet.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Bro's device is is fat in his head already?
- 29:03Speaker 4: Like why so you gotta like it's come.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Do you try to put him on game? Like, do
- 29:07Speaker 2: you try and help him out? Yeah, because sometimes that's
- 29:09Speaker 2: all you need. You need your teammate to come up
- 29:11Speaker 2: to kind of h It's like, hey, you know, it's
- 29:13Speaker 2: okay if you do.
- 29:14Speaker 3: See he do the he do the opposite. See, I'm
- 29:17Speaker 3: gonna cover my whole left side. He's gonna cover this
- 29:19Speaker 3: leg in this arm like he's gonna he's gonna do
- 29:23Speaker 3: an alternate. I'm gonna keep it the same side, keep
- 29:25Speaker 3: it simple, don't touch this side like I don't.
- 29:28Speaker 4: He's he's dripped though, he's he got a little drip.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Any white boys with some swag on the team tier
- 29:35Speaker 2: terres Ferguson he got some drip?
- 29:38Speaker 1: Is that natural?
- 29:39Speaker 2: Y'all have to help him out like myself and be like, hey, Kyle,
- 29:41Speaker 2: can't let you walking out there like.
- 29:42Speaker 4: You got the movies on, I'm messing with the newbies.
- 29:44Speaker 3: You got the nebies on the five, I got them
- 29:48Speaker 3: at the crib right now, he got the newbies on.
- 29:49Speaker 4: I like them right there. I got a lot of movies.
- 29:51Speaker 4: I got a mobie collection.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Just start fucking showing it off.
- 29:54Speaker 2: If he was hating on me, I say in the airport, Oh, bro,
- 29:59Speaker 2: come on, you can't hate on movies.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Bro, The movies good. But now Calae Castle got some drip.
- 30:03Speaker 1: What you think of what you think of his shues
- 30:04Speaker 1: show Adidas.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Now we can't mess with this man. When we had Nike,
- 30:08Speaker 3: we had Nike head quarters almost basically with those so
- 30:11Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, t Firt got some drip on them.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Who else.
- 30:17Speaker 3: You got, Kyla Casper. Kyla Casper got some drip. But
- 30:20Speaker 3: he's just tall. He got tattooed, so it just looked good,
- 30:23Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. It looked like, oh gosh,
- 30:26Speaker 3: what's his name from, Ricky Piersong from Florida, That's what
- 30:29Speaker 3: he looked like.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Taylor, who's not here. I mean he's
- 30:32Speaker 2: got he's tatted everywhere, that white boy, Yes, everywhere, whole body,
- 30:37Speaker 2: whole body, leg Yeah, my boy, Bucky was okay. Bucky
- 30:41Speaker 2: was a dripper too, though, Bucky Bucky every Okay, Bucky.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Put some drip on, bucket, put everything on. But his
- 30:48Speaker 3: clee game is gonna be crazy. And then outside of that,
- 30:50Speaker 3: he's gonna be so simple with a sweatsuit. But the
- 30:52Speaker 3: shoe game, you're gonna have to look and be like yours. Oh,
- 30:57Speaker 3: but he's like like, you're gonna be like, oh okay,
- 30:59Speaker 3: Now he's gonna upset you with something.
- 31:01Speaker 4: It's gonna be crazy. That's all you need a little
- 31:03Speaker 4: simple but somebody, some subtle.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Yeah, your favorite purchase.
- 31:07Speaker 2: We're now in the nil generation. What's been your favorite
- 31:10Speaker 2: purchase so far?
- 31:11Speaker 4: My favorite purchase?
- 31:15Speaker 2: You know, you get to the NFL. They talk about
- 31:17Speaker 2: your first pay check, what you what's the first a ball?
- 31:19Speaker 2: What's the favorite thing you know? If you purchase? I
- 31:22Speaker 2: got to, I ain't gonna.
- 31:23Speaker 4: I got to.
- 31:23Speaker 3: I gotta rolax bust down in the Coddy Yeah, Cuddy,
- 31:28Speaker 3: yea watch bro, I ain't gonna.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I got that.
- 31:30Speaker 3: And I got my chain, the tas Mania chain with
- 31:33Speaker 3: my area code hooked up to it, so like, I mean,
- 31:35Speaker 3: I got you.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Come correct, Yeah, I gotta come. I stepped.
- 31:38Speaker 3: I stepped simple though I'm gonna. If I would have chained,
- 31:41Speaker 3: I'm not willing to watch. If I would have watched,
- 31:43Speaker 3: I might bust the chain just because I got the
- 31:45Speaker 3: suit on.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm sayings on the night.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Yeah, depending on how it shakes my hand and pops out
- 31:49Speaker 3: in the light, hit it, you might see some vvs
- 31:51Speaker 3: in Yah, my bad, I'm sorry. But other than that,
- 31:54Speaker 3: I mean I'm pretty them three right there? I got three,
- 31:57Speaker 3: my bad, not just one.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Okay, but I had to.
- 32:00Speaker 4: I'm chilling right now.
- 32:01Speaker 3: No, I'm cool intil the season come, and then when
- 32:03Speaker 3: the season comes, jump off, jump off. Well, I might
- 32:06Speaker 3: cool during the season, get the drive day and then
- 32:08Speaker 3: set it all like I don't know, you know what
- 32:10Speaker 3: I'm saying, I don't know.
- 32:12Speaker 4: I don't know. I just got something.
- 32:14Speaker 2: What uh? What's been your favorite part about playing for coach.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Landing The consistent challenge he gives us, Like it's every
- 32:24Speaker 3: day we got a new challenge. Okay, he challenges us.
- 32:28Speaker 3: He challenged us every single day, Like he'll challenge you
- 32:30Speaker 3: one day and say, hey man, we gotta finish strong
- 32:34Speaker 3: or and then the next day everything we gotta be fast,
- 32:38Speaker 3: Like all right, we go Like some days he'll switch
- 32:40Speaker 3: up practice on it like completely different, like we'll see
- 32:43Speaker 3: the schedule, but we'll go out there and have like
- 32:45Speaker 3: say things is mind bracket on here? But no next thing,
- 32:48Speaker 3: you know, we'll go out there and go straight to
- 32:49Speaker 3: mama drill like we did today, like everybody know, like
- 32:52Speaker 3: my bracket. That's hitting, Like we gotta go out there
- 32:54Speaker 3: and hit like you gotta block something and yeah that's
- 32:56Speaker 3: DNS linebackers.
- 32:58Speaker 2: You like you getting the whole, the whole now, but
- 33:01Speaker 2: you're blocking linebackers. It depends on what play better.
- 33:07Speaker 3: It depends on what play it is like, it depends
- 33:10Speaker 3: on it depends Yeah, I got a little better this
- 33:12Speaker 3: year last year I was kind of hesitating. I wasn't,
- 33:15Speaker 3: but now I stick my nose and now I catch
- 33:17Speaker 3: them off guard, Like I gotta go in there quick
- 33:19Speaker 3: and just let him know I'm there and then like
- 33:21Speaker 3: try to hold him up. But once they know it's
- 33:23Speaker 3: me on them, then they'll just take me and be
- 33:25Speaker 3: like move.
- 33:26Speaker 4: I'll be like okay, like you know, I mean I'm
- 33:29Speaker 4: on their way long enough, yeah, getting the long enough.
- 33:31Speaker 3: He hit the premier. You can't get there now. But
- 33:32Speaker 3: I mean I did my jobs. I mean yeah, I
- 33:35Speaker 3: mean it's yeah. He just challenged us like just being
- 33:39Speaker 3: the best version of ourselves every day. Like he's tough.
- 33:43Speaker 3: You're gonna see it, like, like you like us as
- 33:45Speaker 3: an offensive, we're killing this defense. He's a defensive coach.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I'm gonna say, if we're killing this defense, you can
- 33:49Speaker 3: look back at him. He get mad, like okay, you
- 33:52Speaker 3: think they do this again? Like the next day, that
- 33:55Speaker 3: same play we try to run is boxed up. She
- 33:57Speaker 3: was like, all right, he's a script that rift that
- 34:00Speaker 3: you script that He.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Back there all like yeah, nah nah.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Now we're finna go over there and tell coach Stein,
- 34:05Speaker 3: you know, let's call this because we know he's gonna
- 34:07Speaker 3: play seahawk here. Okay, we're gonna run past him and
- 34:10Speaker 3: he gonna get he gonna get living.
- 34:12Speaker 4: But it's they.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Feel like the players are like on offense play against
- 34:17Speaker 3: coach Lantic because like you know, like he he can
- 34:20Speaker 3: call it coach tads over there call and like were
- 34:22Speaker 3: playing against them, also were playing against the player. But
- 34:24Speaker 3: like his like his creativeness on defense is so real,
- 34:29Speaker 3: like he'll he'll show you one coverage, then it's a
- 34:32Speaker 3: whole different coverage.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Every time we checked, they checked.
- 34:35Speaker 3: If we don't check, they still checking, like they gonna
- 34:38Speaker 3: key like safe in some emotion. They gonna keep me
- 34:41Speaker 3: the whole time. They gonna bump it or push it
- 34:43Speaker 3: like they gonna they're gonna show something. They gonna they
- 34:46Speaker 3: gonna show like they're finna drop eight, but bring three
- 34:49Speaker 3: people that we can't block, and uh now it's just sat.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Now we're gonna look back and be like where you
- 34:54Speaker 4: get that from?
- 34:54Speaker 2: Bro?
- 34:55Speaker 4: Like like is that even real? Like like it's it's
- 34:58Speaker 4: stuff like that.
- 34:59Speaker 3: But he's he's a consistent like challenger, like he gonna
- 35:02Speaker 3: challenge you with everything, and he don't care how big
- 35:04Speaker 3: the challenge is.
- 35:05Speaker 4: Let's see if you can do it.
- 35:06Speaker 3: You want to say you want to get here, all right,
- 35:08Speaker 3: let's see what you got what it takes to be there.
- 35:10Speaker 4: So that's what we like about him.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Has Bro, thank you for this conversation. This is a
- 35:15Speaker 2: lot of fun. You brought a lot of good energy,
- 35:17Speaker 2: a lot of good the conversation. But I appreciate it, Bro.
- 35:19Speaker 2: I appreciate you sharing the stuff in the beginning, and
- 35:22Speaker 2: it's it's really cool to see where you're at now.
- 35:24Speaker 2: And all though up to you this year, Bro, you
- 35:27Speaker 2: guys do well. Unless you played Nebraska, I hope we
- 35:30Speaker 2: played Dylan Gabriel bro. First question, getting permission to wear
- 35:39Speaker 2: number eight? It was that a conversation with Marcus. I
- 35:43Speaker 2: played with Marcus for a year in uh in Tennessee
- 35:46Speaker 2: and then a year in Vegas. He put yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I was after demarct after he put us on Sushi
- 35:55Speaker 2: Pure last night for the spot to eat as he
- 35:57Speaker 2: said that was his favorite was his favorite spot.
- 36:00Speaker 5: But what was it like, Yeah, purple rice, it's a
- 36:04Speaker 5: real deal.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Getting permission from him to wear a numbreak? Was that
- 36:07Speaker 2: was that an ordeal or was that just a sole conversation?
- 36:10Speaker 5: It was an Ordeal. I think it was just more
- 36:13Speaker 5: out of respect, uh, coming from the Islands, Like he's
- 36:16Speaker 5: the guy we you know, kind of looked up to,
- 36:19Speaker 5: and he kind of set the stage for all the
- 36:21Speaker 5: quarterbacks coming up, not only quarterbacks, players in general. And
- 36:26Speaker 5: you know, I wore aid at Oklahoma, but once I
- 36:29Speaker 5: came here, you know, I kind of told the coach.
- 36:32Speaker 5: I was like, hey, you know, how to respect you know,
- 36:33Speaker 5: I'll probably wear you know, a new number or something
- 36:36Speaker 5: like that. And then I don't know, just kind of
- 36:40Speaker 5: rethought it because Landy said some something cool about how
- 36:42Speaker 5: I like, how special that would be and ended up
- 36:44Speaker 5: texting them and then next thing, you know, uh just said, hey,
- 36:48Speaker 5: can I wear it? You know, just want to get
- 36:51Speaker 5: his uh okay, And then once I did, it's it's special.
- 36:54Speaker 2: So he was like he Marcus was the guy I
- 36:57Speaker 2: bet when you're you're coming up watching him play at Oregon, yeah, you.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Uh you had him, You had Tao, yep, we had Mantai, him,
- 37:05Speaker 5: DeForest Buckner who played here kind of a lot, even
- 37:09Speaker 5: you know Hawaii guys as well, kind of who we
- 37:12Speaker 5: you know, looked up at u Ah. But yeah, all
- 37:16Speaker 5: in all, Marcus was definitely the you know HEADHUNTERO.
- 37:19Speaker 2: So take us through your recruiting journey. You've obviously had
- 37:22Speaker 2: a fascinating one. You've you've bounced around. I want to
- 37:25Speaker 2: say I.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Was reading when you were you did?
- 37:28Speaker 2: You were? You committed the Army. I was committed Army.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Go visit somewhere else? Do you commit? You visited a
- 37:34Speaker 2: couple of schools, I think bigger schools, and then end
- 37:36Speaker 2: up at UCF. Talk about your recruiting journey coming out
- 37:39Speaker 2: of high school.
- 37:40Speaker 5: Yeah, so coming out, I didn't have anything really. I
- 37:42Speaker 5: had the three academies and University of Hawaii. I just
- 37:48Speaker 5: wanted to, you know, try something new and go off
- 37:50Speaker 5: the island. So funny enough. Jeff Monkin, who's the head
- 37:54Speaker 5: coach at Army and who still is, was my dad's
- 37:57Speaker 5: GA at the University of Hawaii when he was playing quarterback.
- 38:01Speaker 5: Coach Kenny new Montalolo was my dad's backup and Paul
- 38:06Speaker 5: Johnson was my dad JOC. So the trip option, you know,
- 38:09Speaker 5: my dad was all around it. But that connection kind
- 38:13Speaker 5: of happened. I visited Army, ended up committing in the
- 38:16Speaker 5: summer prior to my senior year. Then kind of season
- 38:19Speaker 5: went on. I love I love it, you know, I
- 38:22Speaker 5: love this story. But you know, I remember watching a
- 38:25Speaker 5: game in Army only through it three times, and I
- 38:28Speaker 5: just you know, looked at my dad and I was like, man,
- 38:30Speaker 5: I think I really want to throw the ball and
- 38:33Speaker 5: you know, play ball a different way. So ended up,
- 38:37Speaker 5: you know, de committing, uh kind of like you know,
- 38:40Speaker 5: towards the back end of my high school, my senior
- 38:42Speaker 5: year of high school, and then you know, oddly enough,
- 38:46Speaker 5: things just started firing off and everyone jokes around, they
- 38:49Speaker 5: think it's because, uh there's a passing record in Hawaii,
- 38:53Speaker 5: and I ended up beating TUA, and Georgia obviously was
- 38:56Speaker 5: playing Bama, and uh another full circle moment. Coach Landing
- 39:00Speaker 5: was at Georgia, but Georgia offered me UCF and USC
- 39:07Speaker 5: and kind of went on those three visits right before
- 39:09Speaker 5: that December signing day and all three of them said, hey,
- 39:13Speaker 5: you got to be here in January, and I really
- 39:15Speaker 5: wasn't prepared for that. So I ended up taking you know,
- 39:18Speaker 5: four online classes within a two week period, signed with UCF,
- 39:22Speaker 5: and then I was there on January third. So it
- 39:24Speaker 5: just it all happened really fast. I'm blessed and very happy.
- 39:28Speaker 5: It did, but definitely a funny timeline.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Yeah, was there friction when you were decommitting from army
- 39:34Speaker 2: with your with your old man.
- 39:36Speaker 5: There wasn't you know, their family and they always will be,
- 39:40Speaker 5: you know, just with that connection with my dad and
- 39:43Speaker 5: then coach Sean Satnio. He's another guy that you know,
- 39:46Speaker 5: I still keep in contact with who's just been you know,
- 39:49Speaker 5: really that guy who's also come from Hawaii and tries
- 39:53Speaker 5: to look out for Hawaii players. So when I had that,
- 39:56Speaker 5: I was, you know, not not bugged at all. They're
- 39:59Speaker 5: very kind. Then obviously knew that, you know, I was
- 40:02Speaker 5: going to go play at a different school.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Why UCF over Georgia and USC.
- 40:07Speaker 5: At the time, I just wanted to play, you know,
- 40:09Speaker 5: I've always kind of put that at the forefront of
- 40:13Speaker 5: what I want to do. I want to go play
- 40:14Speaker 5: the game, so I love to do And you know,
- 40:17Speaker 5: not saying I couldn't have played at Georgia or USC,
- 40:19Speaker 5: It's just at the time UCF was having an open
- 40:21Speaker 5: competition and I was like, Hey, as long as I
- 40:24Speaker 5: got a shot or a chance, like an opportunity, then
- 40:27Speaker 5: I willna go make it happen. And at the time,
- 40:30Speaker 5: justin Fields and Jake Fowler are still at Georgia. J T.
- 40:33Speaker 5: Daniels was still a freshman at USC Don't saying I'm
- 40:37Speaker 5: not saying I'm old. I'm just saying that was at
- 40:39Speaker 5: the time, and you know I looked at, you know,
- 40:42Speaker 5: at UCF, my buddy Mackenzie Milton was injured that year
- 40:48Speaker 5: and they said, you know, there's open competition. So I
- 40:50Speaker 5: was like, let's go do it.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you had a couple of good years at UCF
- 40:54Speaker 2: were you were you injured?
- 40:55Speaker 5: I did my third year.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Your third year before you hit the portal, right, yep.
- 40:59Speaker 5: I got injured that third game against.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Talk about that.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Was there a lot of doubt creeping in on coming
- 41:04Speaker 2: back from the injury, being able to you know, move
- 41:07Speaker 2: on put another season together.
- 41:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 5: I think it was my first injury in college, real injury,
- 41:12Speaker 5: like I at fractured my color bone, which i'd done
- 41:15Speaker 5: in high school. You know, kind of one of those
- 41:17Speaker 5: lizard deals where you just kind of let it heal
- 41:19Speaker 5: back up and then you know, get the strength back.
- 41:22Speaker 5: But I think at the time I was so you know,
- 41:26Speaker 5: fixated and said, on, you know, maybe this could be
- 41:28Speaker 5: the year to you know, go and do it. Right,
- 41:30Speaker 5: And I think God has a great way of kind
- 41:33Speaker 5: of keeping you present and humbling you, but also just
- 41:37Speaker 5: kind of the storm I needed right in that time
- 41:40Speaker 5: period of my life. And I think it changed the
- 41:43Speaker 5: trajectory of my life as well. You're just seeing different
- 41:46Speaker 5: life in a different perspective, you know, being sidelined for
- 41:49Speaker 5: the first time, and in my career, you know, playing
- 41:52Speaker 5: as a freshman in high school on varsity, playing all
- 41:55Speaker 5: four years and then end up starting again at UCF
- 41:58Speaker 5: as a freshman. So that third year, I feel like
- 42:01Speaker 5: just gave me a different perspective and really changed my
- 42:05Speaker 5: outlook on just being a good teammate in a different way.
- 42:09Speaker 5: And I think that's helped me. You know, all up
- 42:11Speaker 5: until this point.
- 42:12Speaker 1: When did you know you're going to hit the portal?
- 42:15Speaker 5: I had a clue kind of like that last two
- 42:18Speaker 5: weeks of the season, you know, when I got injured,
- 42:23Speaker 5: I was just focused on getting healthy, trying to get
- 42:26Speaker 5: strength back, and then I remember talking with my family like, Hey,
- 42:30Speaker 5: what are we going to do? You know, like what's
- 42:33Speaker 5: kind of the next step? And I hadn't really thought
- 42:36Speaker 5: about it, and just as the season went on, I
- 42:39Speaker 5: just felt like, you know, I wanted to be challenged.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I wanted to try something new and being an offense
- 42:45Speaker 5: that could potentially push me to continue to get better.
- 42:48Speaker 5: How to Oklahoma another crazy story. So yeah, definitely recruiting stories.
- 42:53Speaker 5: I've got a bunch of them. But coming out of
- 42:56Speaker 5: UCF when I was transferring, I've been ed ole Miss,
- 43:01Speaker 5: where my OC prior OC at UCF, coach Levy was
- 43:06Speaker 5: at He went to ole Miss my first year. After
- 43:09Speaker 5: my first year at u CF. Then after that visit,
- 43:13Speaker 5: I felt like I was going to go to ole Miss,
- 43:15Speaker 5: but Coach len Levy end up going to Oklahoma. When
- 43:19Speaker 5: that happened, took a visit to u C l A
- 43:22Speaker 5: and at the time really loved it, you know, and
- 43:24Speaker 5: wanted to make it happen. So I ended up pulling
- 43:27Speaker 5: the trigger and committing to UCLA. As that time went on,
- 43:32Speaker 5: situations as that time went on, though, we just had
- 43:37Speaker 5: conversations and I just really wanted to know what I
- 43:39Speaker 5: was walking into, not knowing if DTR was coming back
- 43:43Speaker 5: or not. You know, the quarterback room kind of had
- 43:45Speaker 5: like a kind of unknown and you know, I was
- 43:50Speaker 5: telling coach, hey, I just want to know what's kind
- 43:51Speaker 5: of going on when I'm walking into. They couldn't clarify
- 43:54Speaker 5: that and you know, kind of keep it up front
- 43:56Speaker 5: and honest, which is totally fine. I just you know,
- 44:02Speaker 5: more clarity and they kind of just know what you're
- 44:03Speaker 5: walking into. I think that is not much to ask,
- 44:06Speaker 5: but kind of up until that last date January third
- 44:10Speaker 5: is when school started and I was supposed to be
- 44:13Speaker 5: on a flight. Coach Levy ended up calling me January
- 44:17Speaker 5: second and just said Boomer, and I'm like, what do
- 44:19Speaker 5: you mean, coach? You know? And I don't know. After that,
- 44:23Speaker 5: I ended up not taking the flight, not jumping in
- 44:26Speaker 5: the class, and then I was a Sooner.
- 44:29Speaker 1: So who is a Sooner? Is that? Is that coach
- 44:31Speaker 1: still there?
- 44:32Speaker 5: He is not now he's at the head coach a
- 44:34Speaker 5: Mississippi State.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Okay, okay, is that the reason you jumped in the
- 44:38Speaker 2: portal again and you end up here?
- 44:40Speaker 5: It is?
- 44:40Speaker 1: But that recruiting story.
- 44:41Speaker 5: So another time I think, you know, just God has
- 44:45Speaker 5: been able to keep me present is I was again
- 44:47Speaker 5: fixated on the NFL and like this is my last year.
- 44:50Speaker 5: I had a very I guess, clearview vision of what
- 44:55Speaker 5: I was going to do.
- 44:57Speaker 2: But you're saying going play at Oklahoma and then go
- 45:01Speaker 2: to the next level.
- 45:02Speaker 5: And when that happened, I think everyone was under the
- 45:05Speaker 5: same impression, right, you know, the or the school players, coaches,
- 45:10Speaker 5: all that. So the preparation prior to that, I think
- 45:14Speaker 5: was the same for everyone. So, you know, going into
- 45:19Speaker 5: that season, I felt like, you know, we were doing
- 45:21Speaker 5: damn good. We had two bumps in the road that
- 45:23Speaker 5: definitely have you know, affected us, you know for the
- 45:25Speaker 5: college football playoffs, but up into that last two games
- 45:30Speaker 5: again where kind of conversations started to happen. I got
- 45:34Speaker 5: my draft grade back, which was seven round undrafted, and
- 45:37Speaker 5: I was like, dang, you know, I felt like in
- 45:40Speaker 5: all you know, categories of whatever quarterback play it could be,
- 45:44Speaker 5: you know, I felt like I was top five and
- 45:47Speaker 5: I guess that's what I was presented. And when I
- 45:50Speaker 5: got that, you know, seven round undrafted, I was like,
- 45:52Speaker 5: you know what, I couldn't sleep at night, know when
- 45:55Speaker 5: I had extra year that I could maximize and get
- 45:57Speaker 5: better and have a guaranteed year of football, right and
- 46:01Speaker 5: I don't want to say guaranteed, but at least the
- 46:03Speaker 5: year to play. And I just wanted to maximize that.
- 46:08Speaker 5: And like I said, with everyone having that preparation, of
- 46:12Speaker 5: me not being back there for another year. I just
- 46:15Speaker 5: felt like it was right and something that you know,
- 46:18Speaker 5: I was excited about. Transferring is not easy, but it's
- 46:22Speaker 5: just kind of how my journey went.
- 46:24Speaker 2: And do you with the coach going to Mississippi State?
- 46:26Speaker 2: Was that if he had stayed, would you say that
- 46:30Speaker 2: you'd still be at Oklahoma or everything was just kind
- 46:32Speaker 2: of like you were saying you were kind of the
- 46:34Speaker 2: preparation was around you leaving.
- 46:36Speaker 1: So it almost just felt like the end of the chapter. Anyway.
- 46:38Speaker 5: I think it was a mixture. Okay, I think it
- 46:40Speaker 5: was a mixture. I guess we'll never know, right if
- 46:43Speaker 5: he did stay, But yeah, I think it was the
- 46:46Speaker 5: perfect storm of where I needed to be and you know,
- 46:49Speaker 5: the path that God has set out for me. I
- 46:51Speaker 5: just trusted it, and you know I'm here now and
- 46:55Speaker 5: should his big blessings.
- 46:56Speaker 2: How was the psyche when you get the draft grade
- 46:58Speaker 2: of seventh undrafted? Because I'm assuming, like, you know, you're
- 47:02Speaker 2: excited about something, you're preparing for something, and then see
- 47:05Speaker 2: something that's kind of like below what you thought it
- 47:07Speaker 2: might be like take us through us through those moments.
- 47:10Speaker 5: I mean, I understand it. You know it's the facts,
- 47:12Speaker 5: So I'm not gonna you know, when I'm presented that,
- 47:15Speaker 5: I feel like, you know, that's just what it is, right, right,
- 47:18Speaker 5: and whether I like it or not, that's the facts.
- 47:22Speaker 5: And you know, I had to live with it and
- 47:24Speaker 5: make a decision based off of that, and she was
- 47:28Speaker 5: just not the best feeling. You know. I think you
- 47:31Speaker 5: when when as a player you produce and you know,
- 47:34Speaker 5: put your play on the field, I feel like you're
- 47:39Speaker 5: you know, your confidence and what you put out there
- 47:41Speaker 5: is something that you are proud of, you know, and
- 47:44Speaker 5: want to or not proud of. Right, Yeah, but I
- 47:48Speaker 5: think that, you know, when I got that back, it's
- 47:50Speaker 5: just it was disappointing, but also I went straight to
- 47:54Speaker 5: making a decision and live on it.
- 47:56Speaker 1: How do you identify organ as being the right place
- 47:59Speaker 1: for you?
- 48:00Speaker 5: H Three things? You know, offensive fit, uh, you know,
- 48:04Speaker 5: guys around me, and then just being able to win.
- 48:08Speaker 5: You know, I want to be in the big games,
- 48:09Speaker 5: big time moments, and at you know, at this point
- 48:12Speaker 5: in my career, I just feel like winnings everything, you know,
- 48:15Speaker 5: that's that's all I want. How can I serve my
- 48:17Speaker 5: teammates in the best way and lead and bring you
- 48:21Speaker 5: know that positive energy every day. You know, I feel
- 48:25Speaker 5: like everything we have here is is top notch, right,
- 48:30Speaker 5: you know.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Living living off nice facilities, living off the.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Land is real, you know. And and then talent isn't
- 48:37Speaker 5: you know, our our issue. You know, it's going to
- 48:39Speaker 5: be putting it all together and seeing, you know, how
- 48:42Speaker 5: well we can connect and execute at a high level.
- 48:45Speaker 5: I think every team that's done it and one has
- 48:48Speaker 5: done those two things.
- 48:49Speaker 1: How do you feel coming in after bow knicks? I
- 48:53Speaker 1: feel good him.
- 48:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I watched you know him play a bunch and
- 48:57Speaker 5: I think you know, as seasons go on and you
- 49:00Speaker 5: definitely are able to see you know, quarterbacks playing at
- 49:03Speaker 5: a high level, and you know new Baut was doing that.
- 49:06Speaker 5: I think that's what made organ such an attractive place,
- 49:08Speaker 5: is just how they let the quarterback go play and
- 49:12Speaker 5: the types of throws you're able to make. And then
- 49:15Speaker 5: also you know seeing you know, obviously when there's success
- 49:19Speaker 5: at a program, you know that it takes a bunch
- 49:22Speaker 5: of people. You know, as a quarterback, you understand that.
- 49:24Speaker 5: And what he's been able to do is super impressive.
- 49:28Speaker 2: The talking about the portal, the portal gets such like
- 49:31Speaker 2: a different mix of reviews, right, good, bad, whatever, whatever,
- 49:34Speaker 2: and whatever opinions are out there, you seem to use
- 49:37Speaker 2: the portal well to your advantage. What do you feel
- 49:40Speaker 2: like you've learned or what experience you've acquired just being
- 49:44Speaker 2: able to go to different spots. You you grow up
- 49:47Speaker 2: in Hawaii, you go to UCF, then you go to
- 49:49Speaker 2: the middle of American Oklahoma. Now you're all the way
- 49:51Speaker 2: up in the top corner of Oregon. What do you
- 49:53Speaker 2: feel like you've learned with the portal and what's taught you.
- 49:56Speaker 5: I've learned change is hard, but it can be really
- 49:59Speaker 5: good for you. Being uncomfortable is the only way to
- 50:03Speaker 5: create growth. And I've also learned that you know, doing
- 50:08Speaker 5: it for the right reason.
- 50:10Speaker 1: You know.
- 50:10Speaker 5: I feel like I've seen it go both ways. I'm
- 50:13Speaker 5: very blessed. Like I said, I trusted my heart, trusted people,
- 50:20Speaker 5: and that kind of has led me to be around
- 50:24Speaker 5: programs that have been successful but also can reproduce that consistently.
- 50:29Speaker 5: And I just trusted, you know, I trusted my decision
- 50:34Speaker 5: and kind of just was where my feet, you know, were,
- 50:38Speaker 5: And you know that's why I'm so you know, focus
- 50:41Speaker 5: on right now and where I'm at. And yeah, it's
- 50:45Speaker 5: it's interesting though, you know, as a guy who's.
- 50:48Speaker 1: You're kind of part of the first wave too of
- 50:49Speaker 1: it all.
- 50:50Speaker 5: I am. I joke around as a COVID baby, I
- 50:52Speaker 5: was an ANIO baby, as transfer portal baby. So I've
- 50:54Speaker 5: seen it all. But I think I've just adapted and
- 50:59Speaker 5: accepted the fact of this what it is. But also
- 51:03Speaker 5: there's beauty in both sides of everything you know, of
- 51:07Speaker 5: of any you know, good or good and bad. You know,
- 51:10Speaker 5: I think just because it's new, that's why it's hard
- 51:12Speaker 5: to accept. Rit Like free agency in the NFL. I
- 51:17Speaker 5: think NFL fans are a lot more used to change
- 51:20Speaker 5: new quarterbacks, new plays, players, new coaches, you know, new coaches, business. Yeah,
- 51:27Speaker 5: And that's that's what's hard too. Is college football is.
- 51:30Speaker 1: So the school spirit, man, Yeah, cool spirit.
- 51:34Speaker 5: Authentic, and I still believe it's it still is. I
- 51:38Speaker 5: just think it's so new. I think ten to fifteen
- 51:42Speaker 5: years from now will be a lot more used to it.
- 51:44Speaker 5: And just how coaches leave. You know, there's happy fans,
- 51:47Speaker 5: there's mad fans, But at the end of the day,
- 51:50Speaker 5: someone new will be in there and don't like it, you.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Know, yeah, no doubt, no doubt.
- 51:56Speaker 2: With all the experience you feel like you've acquired and
- 51:59Speaker 2: like wisdom you've gat from it.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Is there anything you look back on that you would
- 52:01Speaker 1: have done differently?
- 52:05Speaker 2: And maybe like, obviously you're here so the answer would
- 52:08Speaker 2: be no, right, But is there stuff you look back
- 52:09Speaker 2: you're like, oh, that was a learning lesson?
- 52:11Speaker 1: There?
- 52:11Speaker 5: I do. I think a lot is in football and
- 52:16Speaker 5: trying to get better. I think situational football is something
- 52:19Speaker 5: that I wish as a young quarterback I really focused
- 52:24Speaker 5: on and understood. I sometimes wish that my approach at
- 52:31Speaker 5: a younger age was to listen to the words rather
- 52:35Speaker 5: than the tone, right, and passion is huge in football,
- 52:38Speaker 5: but how do you listen to the message and be
- 52:41Speaker 5: coachable and understand that while like I said, emotions are flying, right,
- 52:47Speaker 5: I think as I've gotten older, I've you know, been
- 52:50Speaker 5: able to just cut that.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Out, compartmentalize a little bit.
- 52:52Speaker 5: Better exactly, and just you know, stay even killed.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Not be pissed on. The coach is getting your ass.
- 52:59Speaker 5: That's for sure, and play each play individually, you know.
- 53:02Speaker 5: I think that's something that a lot of people struggle
- 53:05Speaker 5: to do, is do the easy things really at an
- 53:07Speaker 5: elite level, and that's what I strive to do. You know,
- 53:12Speaker 5: execute at a high level, play each play individually, and
- 53:15Speaker 5: then just try to win every rep because you know,
- 53:18Speaker 5: if you look at it like that, it'll it'll hopefully
- 53:20Speaker 5: be a good part at the end, the ending in
- 53:25Speaker 5: a touchdown. But I just try to do that. It's
- 53:28Speaker 5: easy to say, hard to do right.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Always a work in progress.
- 53:32Speaker 2: What have you enjoyed most about Coach Landing in this
- 53:35Speaker 2: coaching staff since coming here.
- 53:37Speaker 5: It's it's been refreshing. I think a young coach who
- 53:41Speaker 5: gets it and is challenging us, but also not demeaning,
- 53:47Speaker 5: not saying I've had that experience in my time.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Just feel like any player, like I've had coaches that, hey,
- 53:54Speaker 2: you kind of funked me up a little bit mentally
- 53:56Speaker 2: in some of these comments.
- 53:57Speaker 5: For sure. I think it's it's it has been refreshing,
- 54:01Speaker 5: you know. I think he's very innovative in the way
- 54:03Speaker 5: he thinks, whether it's scheme or even just in how
- 54:08Speaker 5: we practice what we do, how we do what we do.
- 54:11Speaker 5: I think that's very important because a lot of people
- 54:13Speaker 5: are doing the same things but trying to find your edge,
- 54:16Speaker 5: and I think that he's done a really good job
- 54:19Speaker 5: of that. Just within my four months of being here.
- 54:21Speaker 1: So he seems fiery.
- 54:23Speaker 4: Bro.
- 54:23Speaker 1: He's just got that passion.
- 54:24Speaker 5: That he just I don't want to swear, but he's
- 54:27Speaker 5: got some ship to him.
- 54:28Speaker 1: He's got some ship.
- 54:29Speaker 5: You gotta you gotta enjoy that. And you know, having
- 54:32Speaker 5: a coach that's willing to get get in there with you,
- 54:36Speaker 5: whether it's running, lifting, like he's sweating that practice, he's
- 54:39Speaker 5: in it. You know, Like I feel like that is uh,
- 54:42Speaker 5: you know, empowering feeling knowing that your coach is you know,
- 54:46Speaker 5: being a part of what you're doing.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:48Speaker 5: Uh, not having levels, right, a hierarchy, I guess, right.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Like talking down to players whatever it is, or in
- 54:55Speaker 1: it with you.
- 54:55Speaker 5: For sure.
- 54:56Speaker 2: We had tez On Tess was saying he's the drippiest
- 55:00Speaker 2: athlete in the game, and he also alluded to our
- 55:02Speaker 2: quarterback things.
- 55:03Speaker 1: He's drippy, but he's not.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Oh gosh, do you have any you care to comment
- 55:06Speaker 2: on on his comments?
- 55:10Speaker 5: I would beg to disagree with him. He's he's a
- 55:14Speaker 5: one sleeve. What he does is I think very basic.
- 55:19Speaker 5: He executed Nobody executes it at a high level. That's
- 55:22Speaker 5: what I'll give him, right, So, yeah, he's got the
- 55:24Speaker 5: one leg sleeve. You know he'll go white, black, green, yellow,
- 55:28Speaker 5: so he mixes it up. He does the arm sleeve
- 55:30Speaker 5: as well on the same side. I'd love to see
- 55:32Speaker 5: some altered you know, alternatives of you know, one each side,
- 55:36Speaker 5: maybe a sleeve on the left, sleeve on the right.
- 55:38Speaker 2: That's what he said too, He said, I like to
- 55:39Speaker 2: go all one side and then he'll he says he'll
- 55:43Speaker 2: be tattoos.
- 55:43Speaker 5: Did he say it's because of the tattoos?
- 55:45Speaker 1: Phil he showed.
- 55:46Speaker 2: He showed us his Instagram after talking about Yea, I
- 55:48Speaker 2: went it this way, so you can see my tattoos.
- 55:50Speaker 1: On the right leg.
- 55:51Speaker 5: He'll change the visors. He does gloves, he does different cleats.
- 55:54Speaker 5: But to me, I feel like swag is more of
- 55:58Speaker 5: an energy. It's more of a vibe. Right, Like there's
- 56:01Speaker 5: some too, you know, a guy that doesn't really wear
- 56:03Speaker 5: much and right can you know, rock out. But there's
- 56:08Speaker 5: also something to being able to swag out at a
- 56:10Speaker 5: high level. But I would just say his competition is
- 56:14Speaker 5: really not that much on our team in the receiver room.
- 56:18Speaker 5: I say that because it's either I mean, what can
- 56:20Speaker 5: you really do leggings, maybe some arm sleeves, right, you
- 56:24Speaker 5: can mix match some gloves, but I think it's execution.
- 56:26Speaker 2: He's talking mouthpiece. He's like, hey, this is a visor
- 56:29Speaker 2: pre game. This is I take the visor all for see.
- 56:32Speaker 2: He's actually, you can see the color in my mouth.
- 56:34Speaker 2: He's yeah, he seems very calculated with.
- 56:37Speaker 5: His style that I feel like that's too much.
- 56:40Speaker 1: He pours a lot into it.
- 56:41Speaker 5: I respect it, though, I respect it. I think the
- 56:45Speaker 5: what he executes at a high level, the like sleeve
- 56:47Speaker 5: he doesn't mess it up, you know, I give him that. Yeah,
- 56:50Speaker 5: good colors, he cuts the you know, the left leg. Yes,
- 56:53Speaker 5: the tattoos, showing cleets are always at a high level.
- 56:55Speaker 5: But up top, I feel like he's he could do better.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Another question we asked him, you know, one of the
- 57:02Speaker 2: first questions that you get asked when you get in
- 57:06Speaker 2: the NFL is like, what'd you do with your first page?
- 57:08Speaker 2: What was your first favorite purchase being in the n
- 57:10Speaker 2: I L world? What's been a uh you know one?
- 57:13Speaker 2: He gave us three of his favorite purchases, with the
- 57:16Speaker 2: with the with.
- 57:16Speaker 5: The n I L chain, his watching his.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Change, watching other watch. What kind of car?
- 57:25Speaker 5: What kind of car is he driving around? I think
- 57:28Speaker 5: it's a B MW okay yea or no? I don't
- 57:32Speaker 5: want to say an MG. I don't know, but I've
- 57:35Speaker 5: seen him in one, so it might be a white MG.
- 57:38Speaker 5: But gosh, I don't know. He's he's been in three
- 57:41Speaker 5: different cars since I've been here.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Here.
- 57:48Speaker 5: Do they judge for you lease in the car? Do
- 57:49Speaker 5: they judge? You know? Like, how does that work in
- 57:51Speaker 5: the NFL? Like if he's leasing it, what if he's
- 57:54Speaker 5: what if he's renting the car for like a month? Yeah?
- 57:57Speaker 2: If if you're in with the dealership, like you're, you know,
- 58:00Speaker 2: you're in a different ball game for sure, You're you're
- 58:02Speaker 2: in a great spot.
- 58:04Speaker 5: Do what do you know what I drive? No, nobody's
- 58:07Speaker 5: told you what you drive? Chrysler white mini van, automatic,
- 58:11Speaker 5: automatic doors, two touch screens.
- 58:13Speaker 2: And cousins till Kirk drove this abysmal van around. He
- 58:17Speaker 2: might still but for the five.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Years, good insurance, super efficient, it's hybrid, so just in
- 58:23Speaker 5: case I do miss out on gas, I got electricity
- 58:29Speaker 5: and then uh, it can fit seven people eight if
- 58:32Speaker 5: you want to use that middle side, like I mean,
- 58:35Speaker 5: that's illegal.
- 58:35Speaker 2: But but if you get in a pinch you need eight,
- 58:39Speaker 2: you gotta make it happen.
- 58:40Speaker 5: Yeah, you can make it happen you make it around
- 58:41Speaker 5: the street.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Would you would you say your minivans your favorite purchase?
- 58:45Speaker 5: Uh?
- 58:48Speaker 1: I would say looking ear rings in right now?
- 58:50Speaker 5: Oh dude, you guys even beat me up about the earrings. No, no,
- 58:53Speaker 5: I'm just saying Amazon fifteen ninety nine. I got a
- 58:56Speaker 5: twenty pack. Yeah, you got the Change real Change reel though,
- 59:00Speaker 5: but yeah, the earrings are are Amazon.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Sorry, budget shopping on a budget. So favorite purchase,
- 59:07Speaker 1: favorite purchase.
- 59:10Speaker 5: King bed nice. I try to purchase things that you'll
- 59:15Speaker 5: use every day, So.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Like, yeah, purchase huge.
- 59:19Speaker 5: So you know, me and my girlfriend used to have
- 59:21Speaker 5: a full bed. It was tough, you know, but once
- 59:24Speaker 5: we got the king bed, it's like she's on a
- 59:26Speaker 5: whole another island, you know, and you get your space.
- 59:29Speaker 5: So that was huge. Helps me with sleeping, and there's
- 59:34Speaker 5: something to just being able to brand. It's not a
- 59:38Speaker 5: sleep number, but I don't know, it's it's a little fancy.
- 59:41Speaker 5: It's a little.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Fancy you sleep every night.
- 59:44Speaker 5: Simpopedic neck pillow. Have you guys ever seen those?
- 59:46Speaker 1: Man? I don't.
- 59:47Speaker 2: I don't mesh well with them just because I don't
- 59:49Speaker 2: really stay in one spot.
- 59:50Speaker 1: I sat on my back, I go to my side.
- 59:51Speaker 5: You can turn on them. It's it's still maybe there's
- 59:54Speaker 5: a new there's maybe there's on Amazon on my Amazon. Yeah, okay,
- 59:58Speaker 5: I find everything and then h a couch comfort it
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: is you're gonna use every day. You seem to be
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: a little and then let me give you a fun one.
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: I didn't really buy anything crazy a dog? Could I
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: see a dog?
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: What kind of dog? Winston? He's a miniature Snauzer. He's golden.
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: I can you know, I'll pull a test.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: How much was the dog? Oh? I don't want to
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: say four.
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: I'm not even gonna because people are gonna that's a judgment.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, you get you get a pure breed man,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: you get him from a breeder too.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Like here's here's Winston.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: It's a cute little boy. He's Winston.
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: He's able to travel. I'm gonna we're teaching him how
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: to stay so that when I throw he can just
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: be in the throwing sessions.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: And was he more than three brand?
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: He was?
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: He was.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Gosh, that's alright. People love their animals, man, I know.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I mean I spent we spent a few thousand on
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: my Change your life. Though he's changed my life for
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: the word. She's changed my life for the worst. I'm
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: just kidding. What happened is we had a kid. We
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: had a kid, and he and she went down in
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: the pecking order.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: And they're and they're just stubborn animals, bro. Like you
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: can't get a bulldog to do nothing. Sleep, yeah, sleep,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: and their butttholes exposed, so they'll just fucking far. They fart,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: but they got what's that the little you know, No, no, no,
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: not that.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: What about cherry eye? Does that happen?
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Oh yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, where they get a little
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: fucking she'll be like non on something. Her eye will
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: be like popping out with bit Hey hey, cut that
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: ship out.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: It's real.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: But it's like their anal glands or like they got
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: some seepage that comes out of there. Antally all dogs
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: have it, but most have a tail. But since HER's
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: is exposed, sometimes we get on the furniture and you'll
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: smell it.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: You'll just be in the worst mood, bro, dude.
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: That's tough. Yeah, pumbling moment, they'll wiping your dog's butt.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I would have to wipe her out.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: I mean every time she ship but once we got
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: on farmer's dog and this is no no, no free
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: no free shot. That's a farmer's dog. But once we
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: got on farmer's dog, it's good health. I'm talking she
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: lost weight. She's a little athlete now. I mean Gary,
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: you guys saw her back when she was at her fattest,
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: getting patchy like on the back that she would like
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: lose your hair and stuff, dander and ship just from
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: like eating the kibble.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: We get him on farmer's dog, which is like real food.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Dude, That's that's what you talk about. Feeling your body
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: with the right stuff.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Yeah, gotta feel that Ferrari man first bulldog.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: It's true.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Boys, we got anything else for Dylan.
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: Speaking about bodies, I got a question, how's your body
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: after years in the NFL?
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: This is it's what a post NFL body looks like.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: I'm saying. Is it like do you wake up and
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: you're like, do you feel better?
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: I'll say this, I've had a lot of problems with
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: my low back and this is nothing new to the
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: audience watching right now.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I've been vocal about it.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: You think it's a squatting what do you think the
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: heavy squad?
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I don't squat anymore. I don't love my spine anymore.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: But I don't think it's I don't think it was
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: like all the years of wearing tear doing that. I
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: think at times like you will sacrifice some form to
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: be heavy on the weight, Like I look back on
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: that and you want solid form, because I do think
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: backsquading is good for you.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: But where my back is at currently, it's not. I honestly,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I don't think I can do that much just because
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: it hurts.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: It bothers me, Like I'll I'll go out on the
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: golf course and I'll be on the couch for a
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: week just from torquing, like I've been working on it.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: I'm seeing a doc right now. Shoulders, knees are okay, niece.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: I'll get some inflammation every now. I tore my PCO,
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: but I'll get some inflamation every now and then, But
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: my knees are all right. I would say overall, I'm decent.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: I'm on the I'm on the come up right now, legit,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I'm on the come up. I'm working with this doc
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: right now. He's out of Brentwood, I like, and he's
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: got me going. He's got me doing some really good
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: stuff for my little back.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Is that the same for some of your peers that
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: have played in the NFL.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: There are some guys that are really healthy.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: There are some guys, but it's more like the bigger
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: guys are kind of beat down a little bit more.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I mean, you're a year quarterback, I feel like you're
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: gonna be You get to wear the jersey at practice.
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: You don't get touched, That's what I was saying, Like
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: in the spring, gosh, we like actually are able to
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: like get healthy if you did yeah yeah, yeah, and
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: your body can get strong and I guess not beat
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: it up.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Yeah, there are some things, but I don't know how
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: familiar with barstool. We had a combine recently, and if
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: you watch the tape, I mean it was a thirty
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: five yard dash. I ran a three wolves it three six,
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: so I'm still was it the fastest?
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, you know, Okay.
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: How much did you weigh in the NFL and then.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Low two thirties right now to seventeen that's not bad?
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, So does it feel better? Does what losing
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: the weight?
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: I mean I didn't really.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: I didn't feel like I had to fluctuate that much,
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: like I would have to like keep weight on, but
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: it didn't fluctuate for me that much. But this is
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: kind of like it feels a little more natural. I'm
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: not working out as hard. That's the beautiful thing. Whenever
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: you get done playing, you're kind of like you wake
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: up one morning, you're like, why am I doing all
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: this hard ass shit? And they you just get to
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: kind of take care of yourself a little bit. A
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: little bit, Yeah, go meet.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: The right people, maybe put a couple things in your body.
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: You shouldn't have any secret sauce, like okay on Mondays,
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: this is what I used to do or on you know,
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: throughout your week, Like, is there any secret sauce to
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: like in the NFL, You're like, this is my go
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: to like I had like for me massages and ice
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: tubs are like I need it, you know. But if
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: you had any secret sauces, it could even be in
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: the film room.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: It could be what I could put you else some
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: game in the film room, but secret sauce. Bro I
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: feel like I was one of those guys I always
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: did so much to why I didn't actually know what
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: was helping me or not, whether it be supplements like food, massages, saunas,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: cryo culta. Like you're like with a group of guys, right, Like,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a couple of guys like you rock
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: with there are kind of more on your routine with things,
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: or there's a level you're like, oh, I kind of
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: want to go hang with them because they're doing some
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: things that I necessarily haven't done. You kind of like
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: have this little posse that rolls around, but we do
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: so much stuff to where I don't necessarily know exactly
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: what would help me out all the time.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Like it's like, I'm sure you do.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: You're like living on the norma text after practice, you're
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: doing all these different things. For me, I always felt
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: like if I could win my morning, I would be
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: set up better for practice and the rest of the day.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: Like try and get ahead right on your checklist.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Right like if you're hitting the cold water, if you're
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: doing things that has you do stuff for the day
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: because you know, if you're kind of in a mood
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: or you're kind of like a little sluggish and you
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: know it's either from the day before or you didn't
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: do the right thing in the morning, you snooze a
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: little too much. That's usually where I get behind the
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: eight ball, because then I get in my own head
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: about it because I just you know, you like verbally
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: beat yourself up, like you I know, if I do X,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Y and Z in the morning, I'm gonna be set
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: up better for.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: The rest of the day.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: It'd be like set the tone. Set the tone. That
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: would be the juice is set the tone win the morning,
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: that's the key. And in the film room, like you know,
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: if we get some time, we can get in there
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: and dabble. But I'm sure you see it way differently
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: than I do.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: Same. I'd say the quarterback of the defense, right.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Yeah, well yeah, but you got you know, quarterback brains.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: You guys got a lot of different animals going on.
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: I got it.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: One more go ahead.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: Family balance, life work balance right or work life balance, yeah,
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: I guess in the NFL. And then like being able
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: to come home. Let's say you had a bad day
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: or a good day, and like you got the kids
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: at home. I know your wife's probably holding it down right, right,
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: but even the dog, like how did you You're right? Like,
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: how did you balance that even on good or bad days?
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: After a game or like let's say you're tired like,
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: how did how did that work?
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Well?
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: Fortunately, we have a two year old she just turned
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: to last week. We didn't have her, Like I fortunately
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: that I wasn't playing when we had her. Oh, So, honestly,
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I think knowing that knowing what fatherhood and parenting entails
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: now I have no clue like how the boys did it,
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: or just being away and stuff and then coming back
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: and your wife's your wife's holding the fourth down and
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: just the parenting, the partnering that we kind of do
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: with each other with rue you're second man. If she
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: had to do all of this solo, that would be tough.
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: So honestly, like shout out significant others, Yeah.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Shot out significant others.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: But my advice would be honestly now that I'm on
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: the other side, because it's hard for us because we're
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: everybody selfish, but I feel like our ambitions really take
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: over on like, hey, I'm trying to get here, I'm
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: trying to.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Be the best in the game.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: None of that doesn't mean that the person at home
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: or who you go home to isn't trying to be
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: the best of what they do. So when you come home,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: it's not bringing your work home and everything else with
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: it like, Hey, I had a bad day, Can I
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: just get a minute?
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: I would personally, I would say.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: Like, you're sitting down with your wife's significant other, whatever
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: it is, and you kind of plan out what your
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: priorities are, like if you're somebody who needs an hour,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: have that expectation set before it happens. That way, you're
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: not in a reactive state coming home, right. So that
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: would kind of be my advice because there really is
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: no like coach Lanning was talking about it when he
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: was in Down, but there's not. There really isn't no
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: such thing as like work life balance. It's like prioritize,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: especially in football, but it's prioritized and then when that
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: priority comes, you got to pour into it. So if
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: it's being a husband when you come home, if it's
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: being a dad when you come home, and you know
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: that's the expectation, then it's like you got to figure
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: out a way to compartmentalize and learn that you're leaving
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: everything else outside the door whenever you get home.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: That'd be my game for you, bro.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: And then sorry, I got another one where.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Hey this is this is this is great.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: So let's say for young high school guys coming up right,
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: because I always get this question, but I'm like, I
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: feel like NFL guys could answer this even better because
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: you had it, let's say, at the highest pressure as
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: well as probably the biggest marketing deals. I guess you
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: could say. But high school guys coming into college, right,
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: how do they manage like that side of things, right,
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: the marketing agents while playing and be able to have
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: a clear mind of like not mixing the two together, right,
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: Because I feel like probably in your career, you probably
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: wore a bunch of hats, right, like setting up yourself
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: up for success posts football, absolutely while playing the game
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: while having family and trying to enjoy it all while
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: stand level headed. Right, yeah, man, So how did you,
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: I guess, manage that as well, like the work side
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: of it, you know, with all those relationships.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Well, now it's like high school going on to college. Like
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: that's a different animal. I was pre in IL era,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: so fortunately it was all ball and everything. Not that
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: it's not all ball, but you guys are obviously, you
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: guys are in a world now that you have to
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: your fast tracking to be an adult. You're you're bringing
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: in money that you would have never seen nor maybe
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: your family have never seen right. But what I'd say
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: is even back when I was giving you the advice
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: about like coming home and the work life balance, and
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: it all comes down to prioritizing. It's like, you want
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: to build the right team around you. You want to
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: know who's in charge of what. That way you can
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: free your mind of Okay, I want to focus on this.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: If this has stressing me out over here, how can
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I have the right person in place to help me
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: manage that. It's legitimately, it's all about prioritizing, pouring into
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: those priorities, and learning to say no if things aren't
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: within those priorities. It's like the power of saying no
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: means you're saying yes to what you have prioritized to help.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: You know, because what I've learned about myself, like you
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: know you don't want to let I don't want I
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: don't like letting people down, so you might say yes,
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: or you might over commit to things, or it's like, hey,
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: I am juggling this out here, but I don't necessarily
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: have to help to help me out. It's like learning
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: again man prioritizing and having the right team around you
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: so that way you can be optimal as a football player.
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: Have you seen it like affect players like rookies coming
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: in or like I know you say pre and ile
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: because like I'm let's say a vet in college football, right,
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: I've seen it affect younger guys, you know, wherever I've been,
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: I feel like on the same level in the NFL, Like,
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: has that been a.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Absolutely guess changing, Yeah, you know, like whether it's young
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: guys even like even guys who have had experience in
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: the league, like you guys that will stress about something
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: and then my mind or somebody else's mind, it might
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: be like, man, if he would just do X, Y
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: and Z, but at that time when they're stressing, then
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: vinedy you're kind of just like trying to listen versus like, hey,
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: you should do this. But legitimately man and yeah, for
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: any high schooler's coming into college, I know it's a
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: different ballgame. But I was talking to I got to
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: talk to Nebraska last week, and I was I was
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: kind of telling them, like we've all seen the show
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: thirty for thirty Broke, where seventy to eighty percent of
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: the NFL guys can be bankerable within like three to
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: five years. We're talking about grown, mature men with families
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: that should have their head on straight right, and you know,
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: you guys think you guys are just going to be
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: an exception because of nil like money and the same
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: things can happen. It's like if you don't take advantage
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: of the opportunity you have sitting here to a mass
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: at like it's a privilege getting to have these deals
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: and everything else.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: But you know, whether.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: You're in a quarterback or whether you get to be
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: in a spot to have certain people around you, it's
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: like letting those resources work for you and not against
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: you and feeling like I feel like a lot of
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: times guys might feel like they have their own answers
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: or whoever at home might be telling him you should
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: do X, Y and Z. I'm not saying those people
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: at home are wrong, but maybe there are times where
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: you can doubt the advice you're hearing and pour into
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: maybe the advice you're getting from your school, because ultimately
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: the school has to adapt the same way that players
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: are having to adapt. They need to pour into resources
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: that help you, that help set you guys up for
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: life after football, because there is an nile world and
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: you want to be if you're at Oregon. You want
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: to be a spot to where families come in and
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: you have every resource set up to be like, hey,
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: your kid's coming here, he's going to make probably a
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: lot of money that the kids seen that the family scene,
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: and we have things in place that makes it more
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: attractive to come.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: So they got to be correct as well.
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: So there's as another level to it rather than just money,
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: right right, And like even like what you're saying about
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: other people other voices, like that's real too, like having
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: good family members in your corner. Yeah, and I guess
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: feeding you the right stuff because what you hear ends
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: up be coming what you think and what you end
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: up doing down the road. Like I feel like that's
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: real too, of having good people in your life.
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: Right on.
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: In the NFL, right, like a lot of people are
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: probably telling you how to do what you should be doing.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Everyone's got an idea for you, or they got an investment,
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: they got something, And I'm telling you if you don't
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: have the right group around you or the right team
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: or the right people in place, it's like, hey, I
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: really appreciate this.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: This seems awesome.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: If you don't mind sharing this information, here's my guys
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: email and if they follow up and do all the
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: right due diligence, then it's handled through the business advisor, right,
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: and it's like, Hey, I think this could be a
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: good gig for you, this could be an opportunity for you. Hey,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: maybe it's not, but if you love it, then maybe
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: we put a little bit here and there. But you
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: have people giving you advice, and then ultimately comes down
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: to those people who are trying to pitch you stuff.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: If they respect you, then they're going to respect your
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: process about it all.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: So again it's like.
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: Or if they really want to work with you exactly,
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: they'll go through They'll go through the right.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Protocol to to do that, especially if you're given them
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: the time of day. I appreciate those questions.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: Man, it was well, I feel like, you know, you
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: asked me a bunch of questions to know me, right,
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: But I feel like there's so much to learn from you,
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: and you know, I don't get this opportunity of bunch
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: and I know we're doing it you know here, but no,
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: I just appreciate that, you know, I think there's always
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: something you can learn. And that's what my whole two
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: things are, is like you're never too old or too
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: young to lead, and you're never too young or too
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: old to learn, so whatever, it.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Is, absolutely and it's one of those things too.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: It's like I hate seeing young young athletes like not
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: take advantage of the resources that are all around them.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: I mean, we have such a head start just being
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: at a university like I got to go to Nebraska.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: You're in Oregon right now, but be at the universities
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: we've been at that have the resources to be successful
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: because one day it all ends. No matter what, I
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: hope you get play ten fifteen years, but one day.
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: We How was that day for you?
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: It wasn't that difficult.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: I feel like I had about as smooth of a
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: transition as I.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Could have envisioned in my head, Like did I want
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: it to end?
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Did I want to continue to be able to play
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: at a high level or be seen as like, Okay,
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: we'll give them an opportunity to be a starter Like
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: I was at that point in my career. I was
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: more of a backup special teams guy. And we started
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: fortunately started busting with the boys, so that ended up
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: beginning to take off to where it made it made
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: like hey, whenever the day, the moment does come like
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: it's all good because this is doing well, thank God,
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: because the in light it was like year seven where
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I was like a backup. I didn't get to play
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: a whole lot on the Titans, and I was like, fuck,
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to be on a ninety man roster
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: again and make a fifty three versus being a guy known, hey,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: this will be a steady piece on a roster.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I'm going to have to reinvent myself and make the
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: team again. And I didn't. Necessarily. I was like overdoing that.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: And so fortunately building busting has helped, you know, build
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: it into a good outlet, and it's helped me allow
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: me to transition away from the game because a lot
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: of guys they don't They just don't get a call
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: again and they're training for and then it doesn't happen,
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: and then if they if those I feel like.
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: We all know that one guy who's still training and
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: we know that's no eligibility or you know what I mean,
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: that's really not being but I feel like everyone knows
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: that guy that you're like gosh, you know what I mean.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Like yeah, absolutely, or they're still taking opportunities to go
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: play and look, I know there's stories that motivate everybody
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: to allow them to make those choices, like, hey, I'm
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: going to go down to this league because you never know,
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: you want tape, you want to get an opportunity. But
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: when they do have to come to that harsh reality,
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: a lot of guys didn't you know, didn't fortunately like
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: take advantage of the time that they had while.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: They're in the league.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: It's like when you're in the NFL, Like while you're
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: an Oregon duck. I say it constantly, your jokes are funnier,
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: you're better looking, and you can shake more hands. And
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: if you don't do those more, yeah, yeah, and you're
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: way more interesting. And if you don't take advantage of
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: those things now to set yourself up for the curiosities
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: you have outside of the game, the moment the game ends,
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: it looks a little different. You look a little bit
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: more desperate, and then you you beat yourself up. And
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: then as men or athletes, like a lot of people,
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: do you stay quiet about it. You don't talk about it.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: You're not vulnerable enough to share that a you might
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: be struggling. So it's like always one of those things
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: like why I've appreciated these questions. It's you sit there
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: and you hate to see athletes like, you know, piss
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: it away because they they were so obsessed with.
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: Playing or not be president in the moment and create
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: relationships that are real, you know, like if you're going
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: to be in the building with this coach, you know,
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: like enjoy that time together and get to know them,
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: because that relationship might go even further to you having
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: a job down the road or you know, like nobody
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: I feel like in the moment thinks about that, right
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: we're thinking right now, And I think that's what's hard
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: for players too, right Like as players, everyone's telling us
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: focus on ball. You know, that's like that's all you
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: should be worried about, right, But then when you're done
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: with ball, they're like, what were you doing while you're
- 1:18:51Speaker 5: playing ball?
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: To me, it's like such a contradicting like thot, like
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: how do we you know, help one another out and
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: like talk through it of like being able to have
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: conversation and figure out like how do you focus on
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: ball and still keep level headed while being able to
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: plan and set yourself up? You know?
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, because like you're saying it's not like this
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: poor mement victimized mentality, like hey, you feel sorry for
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: athletes for doing this. It's just like no, it's just
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: if you the individual had any idea the opportunity. You
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: had to know that we have this head start and
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: you're not taking advantage of it, like it's it ultimately
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: becomes on you. But it's like, bro, you have to
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: pour into whether it's relationships. You brought that up and
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: I was thinking, we have a common connection. James Stopson
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: was my strength and conditioning coach in Nebraska. Comes up,
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: they tell you that I'm sure he preached you guys
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: the coffee bean story. Dude, be the coffee bean, not
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: the horrib boiled egg or the charrot that gets soft
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: in the boiling water. He said, the coffee bean that
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: sets the tone and makes the environment its own. He's
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: the best, though, bro. We I mean, I was texting
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: with him yesterday and my hey, Dylan Gabriel, like you
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: mind telling me some some stuff about him?
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: We hop on the phone.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: He had great things to say about you, and uh,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: but he's a relationship that I've kept since at Nebraska.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: He was at Vaanderbilt and I was at Tennessee. I'm
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: training there. I hated when he went to Oklahoma just
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: because that was the trained me in the offseason.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: Is that the rivalry too? Would you say back in
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: Oklahoma you weren't that far back?
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I wasn't.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: I wasn't back in like the nineties when it was
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: like the Oklahoma Nebraska game and everyone salivated over it.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: It kind of switched around because I played in both
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: the Big twelve and the Big Ten, so it kind
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: of maneuvered.
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: Right now, if Nebraska I played there, that's that place
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: is crazy.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Thank you. Man. Did Nebraska try getting you out.
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: Of the portal when Coach Frost was there?
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: Yes? Really?
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because when we were talking with Coach Rule, he
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: has brought your name up. So I'm thinking in my
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: head like, oh, I wonder if they were in the
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: running it all for for you?
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: No I should I didn't hear them, but no. It's
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: it's crazy though, But like I remember the first third
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: down there, dude loudest I mean, and I've played in
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: some environments, which yeah, it is probably up there with
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: the Ou Texas game, but like that first third down,
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: like I remember seeing like looking at my receiver in
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: the eyes and he's like this, like you know, like
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: oh my.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Well that sayings like you're yelling and you can't even
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: hear yourself.
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: Dudde and like it's just I think the craziest stadiums
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: are when you can't see out of it. That to
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: me is like you're in it, you know, like I
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: don't know, I don't want to say like the old
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: Colisseum days or like you know, Badle or whatever, but
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: like when you can't see out, it's like, bro, you're
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: in this bitch, you know, like like you better come
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: ready to play.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: Man, So I remember that that first drive d in
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: of going seven like going up seven zero and we
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: had the first drive. We end up going three and out.
- 1:21:55Speaker 5: But uh dude, it.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Was did you beat us? You end up beating there?
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: I know, I just didn't know. I wait, which which
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: when you were with U c.
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: F Oklahoma Oklahoma last year the year before, Oh ship,
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: it's it's a team of all time, right.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: That was two years ago? Oh yeah, yeah, we were
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: the It's on yes.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: Oh no, that was the year before. That was at Ou.
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: That was at you the year.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: Okay, okay, it was what it was like it hand
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: I was gonna say in the first quarter is like
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: maybe fourteen all and then you guys just went unanswered.
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: They were up seven zero, and then try we had
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: you guys in the sights like, oh that's good, but yeah,
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: that's right.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: So I want to bring this up because I hope
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: somebody adopts this idea. I think you know, we're talking
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: about college football, right yeah. I think you get forty
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: of the biggest logos. They don't have to be good
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: right now, but the biggest logos, the most donors and
- 1:23:15Speaker 5: the biggest atmospheres. So you can put that all together
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: whatever whatever. I don't want to say any names because
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: you know, but you can imagine that, right. The bottom
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: five every year goes down to play with the let's
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: say the second division. The top five of that goes
- 1:23:33Speaker 5: back up. So it's ever changing, right, like you gotta
- 1:23:36Speaker 5: you want to be up there. You got to stay
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: up there, right, you play, let's say with the forty teams,
- 1:23:42Speaker 5: you get ten games, it all alternates, that goes to
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: a seed in like a march madness. I don't want
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: to do the math. I don't want to butcher it,
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: but that's probably five games, fifteen games, you get.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: You'd have to go to like break it down thirty
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: two teams in a bracket.
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: Yeah, let's say, okay, because the bottom five and.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: Two, Yeah, the bottom eight could potentially.
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: So you could do a March Madness and have the
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: biggest atmospheres. You're playing coast to coast and it doesn't
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: affect other sports, so you can still have your you know,
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: but that football league is like the big like the
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: Big forty. Let's say, and now you can play I
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: wouldn't that be cool? Wouldn't that be cool?
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Like bottom eight kind of like an n I T
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: tournament and.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: You still you can still win, right, because there's some
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: merit to like what if you know, uh, a lower
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: level school gets in that top five and they killed
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: it that year, then they can come up for the year.
- 1:24:33Speaker 5: You know, they earned it, right And uh, I don't know.
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: I thought it'd be dope, you know. I thought, like,
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: imagine if you could play coast to coast and play
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: all the great atmospheres like big noon kickoffs every week? Dude,
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: you know, like what if we could have five big
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: noon kickoffs?
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Like you're thinking big.
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: I'm just saying, like everyone, players want it, coaches want it.
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: Fans want it. Everyone wants the big atmosphere, so why
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: not recreate it?
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Whatever the NC double A kind of folds at some
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: point to create some of these super conferences. I'm sure
