Transcript
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to A Court of Chapters in Chatter, a weekly chapter-by-chapter reread of A Court of Thorns and Roses.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I'm one of your hosts, Hunter.
- 0:32SPEAKER_04: And I'm your other host, Rachel.
- 0:34SPEAKER_04: And today we're gonna, I guess, jump back into it.
- 0:39SPEAKER_04: Jump back into what?
- 0:40SPEAKER_04: Into our reread of A Court of Mist and Fury.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: We our new abridged version.
- 0:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 0:48SPEAKER_04: Um, so we stopped at like chapter 15 in our reread two and a half years ago.
- 0:57SPEAKER_04: Uh and we're gonna kinda speed it up a bit and take on like about 10 chapters or so and talk about just some basically what we started this podcast for, right?
- 1:13SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, more stuff that jumps out of us that applies to the current story versus how every little detail interacts with the story as it's happening.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think we're all s we're gonna, you know, still look for clues to what we're what our what we started this podcast about was connecting all the stories together in their universe.
- 1:46SPEAKER_04: Universe is whatever.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but when there's something that's been resolved already in the series, we don't have to harp on something like that.
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: So But we haven't resolved most of the stuff that I'm still looking at.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Um as always, this podcast is spoilers everything.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: This includes A Court of Thorns and Roses, Crescent City, and Throne of Glass, and sometimes a little bit of uh other stories.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Whatever we feel like talking about.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: We will try to warn you before talking about a different series of books, and if there's any spoilers in there, we'll we'll give a warning.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Uh so what have you been reading?
- 2:39SPEAKER_04: Uh you just finished.
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: I just finished A Court of Silver Flames, actually, in our reread to get ready for uh A Court of Splintered Harmony.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I don't like it.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: It's a mouthful after like Aquatar and Acamath and Aka War.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Like it's very like it doesn't have the same cadence.
- 3:06SPEAKER_04: No.
- 3:06SPEAKER_04: It's it's a little odd.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: Um, but I'm excited to read it.
- 3:11SPEAKER_04: And it's gonna be a nice little short read until January.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: Uh so I just finished that, and then I just started a book for my book club.
- 3:22SPEAKER_04: The uh what was it?
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow by Rebecca F.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: Kenny, I believe is what it's called.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: How's that so far?
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: It's okay.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: Um at first when it started, I was like, oh, this is very much like the um is it Tim Burton's version of Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci.
- 3:52SPEAKER_04: And then something happens in it in the first 20% that I was not expecting, which doesn't happen in the original story, and completely threw me off, but I'm only 21% of the way through the book.
- 4:05SPEAKER_04: And you started that today.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: I did start that today.
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: It's a very short read, it's only like 210 pages, maybe.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: What about you?
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: What have you been reading?
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Still trudging away on House of Flame and Shadow.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Closing out on the end.
- 4:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Um I apparently blacked out from the last third of that book.
- 4:29SPEAKER_04: You said my crossover is over.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: I'm not interested.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Kind of.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Um I mean, like I said last week when I was trying to get through it the first time, I was trying to blow through it, and I just I can't take more than like four or five hours of an audiobook a day.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: That's anything more than that, and I stop retaining every I think I think once I get away from like listening while working, uh I'm I'm too distracted with doing other things.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Unlike if I'm rereading a book I've already read before.
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: Or, you know, if you read with your eyes.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, I mean And then you could probably remember more of the information because I don't know.
- 5:26SPEAKER_04: I do that.
- 5:26SPEAKER_04: I I can remember more information from a book that I'm reading in front of me, especially like a physical copy of a book, not even just like my Kindle.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: And it's because my brain processes it in a way that it can like go back and remember where I was sitting and what I was doing, what day it was, and it remembers reading those words on that page.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I kind of get that with audiobooks too sometimes.
- 5:54SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Uh like when I'm re-listening to a book, I'll be like, oh yeah, I was delivering on whatever street when uh the last time I listened to this.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: But uh Yeah, I know what you mean.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Having like a visual memory of reading the page is different than listening.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Um and maybe I won't, but I'll say I might try to uh slow down and take in the next book more so, but I know I won't.
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: No.
- 6:29SPEAKER_04: It's really difficult when you're stuck in a place of you want to be able to enjoy the book, but also if you hop on any social media, you're ruined it.
- 6:39SPEAKER_04: It's ruined.
- 6:40SPEAKER_04: Like you'll start getting video after video um and post after post, and you can't not read it in that first day or two, because then you'll just see everything.
- 6:52SPEAKER_04: Like right now, we're already dealing with leaks, which I refuse to look at.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: I'm surprised I haven't gotten any of that.
- 7:00SPEAKER_04: I've seen posts about it and people commenting, like, oh, did you read the chapter 20 leak or whatever?
- 7:08SPEAKER_04: I refuse to look at that.
- 7:12SPEAKER_04: Um I'm not going searching.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: I don't want to.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: I want to wait for the release date and read it.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: When the book's about to come out, that's crazy.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 7:22SPEAKER_04: But there are literally people that will go into a store a couple days early and be like, oh my god, the book's out.
- 7:28SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna buy it even though I know I'm not supposed to, and the store could get in trouble for it.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: That's even different.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: No, it's not because they make a post about it.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: They make a video and a post all about that, and that's not different.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Posting about it is different.
- 7:43SPEAKER_04: They know what they're doing is wrong.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:47SPEAKER_04: But if you walk into the store and you legitimately buy the book, that's completely different than reading if you are so far under a rock and you buy the book that way, yes, but there are so many like influencers.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: I've I saw on let's I'll use this as an example.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: Threshing day.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: There were a couple stores that I'm sure the employees didn't realize and weren't thinking, and put the book out because usually there's like a box that'll say, Do not put out until this date when you're stalking that kind of stuff.
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: And sometimes you get like a person or a teenager or whoever not looking and they just put it out.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: You have an influencer walking through the store, and then they record themselves finding the book and getting so excited and telling everybody which store did that.
- 8:38SPEAKER_04: I think that's not okay.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Uh when you when you put the influencer spin on it, um I would agree with that.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: But if I were to just walk in the store and pick it up and be like, oh, cool, and I read it and I just put enjoy it without jumping on TikTok and being like, oh my God.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: You know, Harry Potter spoilers.
- 9:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Double door died.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: Like Well, yes, exactly.
- 9:06SPEAKER_04: Because you would be respectful enough to be like, oh, I'm gonna keep this quiet.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I want to be the first to break the news.
- 9:12SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna just read it in peace and enjoy it, and then when everybody else reads it.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Speaking of, there when that book came out for uh um uh was that the sixth Harry Potter book?
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Anyways, somebody flipped to the very back of the book and saw that Dumbledore dies as they bought the book.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Spoiler.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: I did already say Harry Potter spoilers.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Uh they they saw that Dumbledore died and they walk past everybody at the new uh the midnight release saying, Well, Dumbledore dies at the end of the book.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Like absolute psycho shit.
- 9:52SPEAKER_04: Messed up.
- 9:53SPEAKER_04: That's so messed up.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: And that was long before social media.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, 15 years ago.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: What did we have?
- 10:05SPEAKER_04: Zanga back then.
- 10:07SPEAKER_04: No, Facebook.
- 10:08SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 10:09SPEAKER_04: We had Facebook.
- 10:09SPEAKER_04: I was just showed my age there.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Zangha.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Oh man, I had a Zango.
- 10:15SPEAKER_04: So did I.
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: I wish I could find it, though, to see the stupid stuff I posted on that.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Oh well.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Hopefully nobody goes and spoils everything.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: It's so annoying, especially with TV shows, movies, everything.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm annoyed with TV shows because I can't even follow the um not TV provider, but like Apple TV.
- 10:45SPEAKER_04: I follow them on Instagram, and I ha actually I think I had to unfollow them because they kept posting spoilers a day or two after the episode would air.
- 10:55SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, I haven't even gotten that far yet.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:01SPEAKER_04: Thanks for the spoiler on your own Instagram.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: I almost wish that the platform would create like a its own kind of like well, like a spoiler toggle.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Like.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: I don't know, it's way too involved though.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_04: You as a big thing.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: I used to follow Nerdist.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: And uh Nerdist, you know, they would always post like the second, like Game of Thrones would be over.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, did you see this person died or whatever?
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna add more spoilers in here, but uh that was a big deal.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: It's been how many years?
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: I'm just kidding.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: It's annoying.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Everybody wants to be the first to break any kind of news or whatever to ride some kind of influencer train.
- 12:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: We're gonna be releasing a live podcast at midnight when the book comes.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Now I'm just gonna do it.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: No, I'm gonna be sleeping.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: I actually enjoy my sleep.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: If I didn't have to work, maybe I'd stay up late.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: But now that I'm working, I just and I have to get up at like 6 a.m.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: 5 30, 6 a.m.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: sometimes.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: I can't uh I can't stay up that late to read.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: And like I can't just take off for a book release.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: No, it'd be nice if you could though.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: Or if it came out during the summer.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 12:46SPEAKER_04: That would be different.
- 12:47SPEAKER_04: None of the books that I ser well.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: No, not really.
- 12:54SPEAKER_04: None of the book series that I've been interested in reading had any books released over the summer.
- 13:00SPEAKER_04: Besides like and even that though.
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: Naven the moon didn't come out until September first.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: And I was already working.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't recall anything.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Weird.
- 13:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Alright, well, do you want to get to the the main the main part here?
- 13:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: So uh Where where are we starting?
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: What are we starting with?
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Chapter 15 Reese takes Fera on a tour of Valaris, where she begins to experience freedom and admits why her relationship with Tamilin no longer works.
- 13:45SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: Um so the only I have one quote here.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: You have two others, I think.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Uh mine's more of like a thought that goes with yours.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 14:01SPEAKER_04: My quote is from chapter 15.
- 14:05SPEAKER_04: Um They're talking about the mountains that they see, like where um I guess the house of wind is, or behind it.
- 14:20SPEAKER_04: And like as it says, there, like eternal guardians of the city, towered a wall of flat top mountains of red stone, the same stone that had been used to build some of the structures.
- 14:32SPEAKER_04: They curved around the northern edge of Valaris to where the river bent toward them and flowed into their shadow.
- 14:39SPEAKER_04: To the north, different mountains surrounded the city across the river, a range of sharp peaks, like fish's teeth, cleaved the city's merry hills from the sea beyond, but these mountains behind me they were sleeping giants, somehow alive, awake.
- 14:56SPEAKER_04: Now coming off of my silver flames read, which we had been talking about, there are there's some quotes in there where Nesta is meeting it's Nesta and Cassian meeting with Eris, and like she's noticing the sacred mountain behind him and says there's a presence there, like a sleeping giant.
- 15:22SPEAKER_04: And almost every time they talk about the mountains in any part of Prithian, they describe them, including um Ramiel, as like a sleeping presence.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: Like there's a slumbering something there.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: Which I think is interesting.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Uh makes you wonder if it's like metaphor or hyperbole, or if there's literally something slumbering there.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Because like in Thrown a Glass, Erwan was trapped in a under the mountain.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: In a casket?
- 16:04SPEAKER_04: Sarcophagus.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: Sarcophagus.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: Um which is true in um I guess it was House of Flame and Shadow, right?
- 16:18SPEAKER_04: When they um when they're in the prison under the prison Hesperus, there's a person, Faye, whatever you want to find, whatever you want to call them, in a sarcophagus under there as well.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Which is a missing daglin.
- 16:37SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: And then in Crescent City, one of the I think it's House of Flame and Shadow, when they go to get the star sword, finally, when Bryce goes in.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: Not goes to get the star sword, but goes in.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: What did they do?
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: What are they doing in those m caves in Avalon?
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: She's like proving just kind of following the star.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I know, but she's trying to prove herself or something.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: She's trying to figure out to find information on how to use the star uh the sword and the dagger together.
- 17:12SPEAKER_04: They talk about the um Faye princes that are in the sarcophagi.
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: Sarcophagus is sarcophagi in the caves there.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when they get down there, um the sarcophagus sarcophagus for Peleus is uh hiding steps that goes down underneath.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: And that's where uh she uses the black salt and water mixture to mind travel to hell.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_04: Is this where your thought process comes from?
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Which thought process?
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: Because you believe you're under the assumption that like the princes of hell are still bad.
- 18:01SPEAKER_04: The one of the big bads.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: I So Apollyum Apollyon seems to be a uh uh not so he's not exactly shy about being kind of a monster.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Uh Aitas uh seems to have a soft spot, especially for Bryce, because she holds Thea's power and Thaya.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: She loved Thea.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: They were mates, I guess.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Potentially, or they just loved each other.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: I haven't done my reread yet, so I don't know.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: So one of the main one of my main uh thoughts or pieces of evidence that leads me to believe that is um uh Jessiva when she tells Ethan her story, it's that she was uh a priest guardian guarding a priest maybe guarding the essentially the Library of Alexandria and all it was was just all their books about humanity and their poetry and fiction and all that kind of stuff.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: And they essentially had their last stand at the library and uh a bunch of the librarian priests people went off in different directions with chunks of the library, and that's what Jessapa's doing.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: And she's just a regular human and Apollin stops her and is like, Well, obviously you're hiding something super powerful, why would you be doing that?
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Why would you guys risk your lives for just books and stories about human humanity?
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: And she's like, No, that's literally all it is.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: It was worth dying for.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: And um so Apollyon curses her with immortality and tells her that she won't he won't let her die until she reveals what she's hiding and that uh he accidentally gives her too much magic when he does it.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Which is why he has uh Iatis kind of spy on her during her eternity guarding the last of humanity's books.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: Okay, so that kind of goes hand in hand with my who I think is Jezeba.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it doesn't it leaves room for your theory.
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: It does.
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: Uh a lot of room.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: But that's not something a benevolent savior would do.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Somebody who believes in protecting these people, but couldn't believe that they would die for their own.
- 21:24SPEAKER_04: He couldn't believe they'd die for their own history, so he made her immortal.
- 21:29SPEAKER_04: Oh my.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: As a punishment.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: To protect all of it for eternity?
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: I think he's he's also uh Wow, what's what's the other I don't know, he he does not seem like a good guy, that's for sure.
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: I'll tell you my thoughts on that once I've done my reread, which is after I finish this weird sleepy hollow book.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: But anyways, back to chapter 15 here.
- 22:07SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: So I I do wonder if there's not either um fog or Princes of Hell or whoever trapped underneath these other mountains, like Romeo, especially.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: We we talked about that.
- 22:31SPEAKER_04: There's either that or as I was reading Silver Flames, they have a lot of talk about the Daglin who was their villain.
- 22:44SPEAKER_04: And I know youth seem to think it's just like a choice of words that they use, but they always refer to the daglin as these great beasts and like they're giants, um, and then calling the uh mountains sleeping giants or whatever.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: And Analius fighting off the Daglin at Ramiel to protect keep them from going through the portal or whatever the Onyx portal at the top.
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: Um, and he dies on that mountain.
- 23:21SPEAKER_04: My thought is that he bled there to sacrifice himself in order to like put a spell on the Daglin and they're asleep, and they're the mountains.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Could be.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: Anyway, that's nothing to do with chapter 15, though.
- 23:43SPEAKER_04: But it does, because they're talking about the mountains.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: It does, the mountains, but uh you had another quote here from the book.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Um so it it it's like the very next sentence of your your quote where Ferra says that she feels like some of the mountain she doesn't know which she doesn't know where the the house of wind is yet.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Because he then reveals it's one of the middle mountains that she's talking about.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: But she says that if there's a pulling, like uh she describes it as like a cat rubbing up against her leg, which is literally how Nesta describes it in Silver Flames.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: Which is weird because Amran in Silver Flames on Starfall, I just finished this, which is why I know, tells Nesta that she made the house.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: Which means it wouldn't have done that for Farah.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: But before, the house has always had a certain amount of magic where it would provide all those kind of things.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: So I feel like still made a made person has not in the way that Nesta.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Nesta fucking called.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, gave her the personality because she that's what she needed.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: But um So I feel like the fact that the House of Wind can do that is significant.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: That maybe there's well, obviously there's more hiding there.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, because it's part of the mountain.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and now the house of wind, that is above the library, right?
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: That's all together.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: And the library is into the mountain, all the way down into the dark space.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: It is so creepy where Briaxis lived.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: I forgot that Briaxis is down there too.
- 25:40SPEAKER_04: And hopefully we'll get more information about Briaxis in the next book.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because she's the last one remaining, right?
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: Because Briaxis escapes and is still alive.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: But the bone card is.
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: You think Briaxis is female?
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 25:57SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think so.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: I have no idea.
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: I just I never gendered it.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: My bad.
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: Bryaxis.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: I didn't mean nothing by it.
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: I didn't say that.
- 26:16SPEAKER_04: Um anyway, you have your own thought over here.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Uh and in this chapter, Reese explains to her how the city was hidden a long time ago as to keep a section of goodness away from the rest of Prithian and stuff.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: It all just sounds like such bullshit to me.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: Like there's something a large concentration of power there.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: And that early night court people were like, yeah, we're gonna we're gonna keep this hidden from the rest of the world because we don't need them sniffing around and finding a a dread trove or something.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: It's like bound specifically to the their blood.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: The Key Yeah, keyed to his blood.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: Well, that's the prison.
- 27:16SPEAKER_04: No, I know, I didn't say keyed.
- 27:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:17SPEAKER_04: The the warding system around the city that makes people not remember that it's there or whatever.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, attached to him.
- 27:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: Well, not just him, but like his predecessors, every single one of them leading back what, five thousand years?
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: He says it hasn't been breached in five thousand years.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: But we're never told what happened five thousand years ago.
- 27:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:43SPEAKER_04: I'd have no idea.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: I guess it's just world building.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: I guess.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Do you have any other thoughts on that chapter?
- 27:53SPEAKER_04: No.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's nothing nothing too crazy going on.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: No.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Although it seems very crazy to hide a whole city.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: Uh blows my mind.
- 28:06SPEAKER_04: He loves his city.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: He does, but his ancestors were ruthless pricks.
- 28:13SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: Well, what are they hiding?
- 28:15SPEAKER_04: He can also He does talk about his power at one point and says I wish I would I would wipe the world clean and start over if I if if it wouldn't uh If it comes to that.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: If it comes to that, yeah, something like that.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: Which means Reese is very powerful.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:37SPEAKER_04: If he could do that.
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: Or if that was just an exaggeration on Sarah's part.
- 28:43SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: You think he'd have done more during the war.
- 28:48SPEAKER_04: If he could?
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: He did a lot.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: He did.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: He did wipe out like a third of the army.
- 28:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:54SPEAKER_04: But that's then killed himself, giving her the last of his power.
- 28:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: I I know we're gonna oh, that's actually the next book, but we will get there at some point.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: Do they ever address the fact that Reese could have potentially gotten the whole rainbow of power like Fayer did?
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: They um they do.
- 29:16SPEAKER_04: That's like one of the last parts of the book.
- 29:18SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 29:19SPEAKER_04: Is he wakes up and he said, and you'll be happy to hear that my power is my own.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: He does.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Unless it's bullshit.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: But you think it have it would have Yeah, I don't think so.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: That was just something I was thinking about earlier.
- 29:39SPEAKER_04: There were some uh theories on that.
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: That the Pharaoh already had some sort of powers to begin with from her ancestry.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: And that's why when they gave her the kernels of of their life or whatever, the seeds that she ended up with all those powers, and Reese didn't.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 30:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:15SPEAKER_04: Who knows though?
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: But also that whole experience sounds like her version of the dropped.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: The drop, yeah, it does.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: We should do an entire episode on just the drop.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: Comparing the dropped between the three series.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but that would require having reread and recording every part of what we assume is the drop.
- 30:36SPEAKER_04: Now, there's definitely parts where, like, I think um was it in Tower of Dawn, when uh Irene does her stuff and is learning her magic, I think when she goes through the drop.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:53SPEAKER_04: And I definitely think there's stuff when Aileen goes through the drop.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: Well, we will have to oh yeah, I had I had one more while we're talking about the mountains here.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Um in You talk a lot.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: I do talk a lot.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: Um That's why we started a podcast.
- 31:19SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: So in House of Flame and Shadow, when they go down and they're going through the tunnels, okay, there is a s uh a brief moment where there's a a split in the tunnel and they go left.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Um and they don't mention it ever again.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: At least in Flame and Shadow.
- 31:43unknown: Okay.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: But uh so I just looked up a map real quick just to validate my own thought on it.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: So if they're going from a court of nightmares all the way over to the prison, if there was a right turn that they ignored, it would go up into the Illyrian Mountains.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: Which would be uh where Ramiel is.
- 32:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, Ramiel is the mountain.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: Well, there's like the Illyrian Mountains, and then there's Ramiel.
- 32:10SPEAKER_04: The Illyrian steps.
- 32:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: Ramiel's the one peak.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: So I feel like there is a tunnel directly to whatever's hidden under Ramiel.
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: Sorry, just wanted to throw that out there.
- 32:24SPEAKER_04: There's there's tunnels that leads to everything.
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: Probably all the way into the cave system in Midgard.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Or the Yeah, and then the what do they call the the mountain from the uh it's just under the mountain.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: What is from the first book.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: What is that mountain called?
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: The Sacred Mountain.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: The Sacred Mountain.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: They never go back.
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: Um because they bring it down, kind of.
- 32:51SPEAKER_04: They close off the entrances when they leave, remember?
- 32:54SPEAKER_04: Tamlin forces them to because he he takes charge like I can't handle the trauma of ever coming back here again.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: Uh yes, his trauma.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: Alright, do you want to talk a little bit about chapter 16 now?
- 33:09SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 33:10SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah.
- 33:10SPEAKER_04: So chapter 16 is where she meets everybody at House of Wind.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: Big old dinner party.
- 33:16SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 33:17SPEAKER_04: Um, and I wanted to talk, you know, uh, a bit about Farah meeting Azrael and her thoughts on him.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: Big Player in the next book.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: So uh yeah, I know.
- 33:34SPEAKER_04: So she's talking about, you know, Cassian and what he looks like and whatever, and then says, but the second male, the more classically beautiful of the two.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: That part always makes me laugh.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: Because like she refers to Cassian as like rough, because he's got like stubble and like long hair and yeah.
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: And then there's Azreel, and she said, even the light shied away from the elegant planes of his face, with good reason.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: Which doesn't make any sense.
- 34:05SPEAKER_04: Beautiful, but near unreadable.
- 34:07SPEAKER_04: He'd be the one to look out for the knife in the dark.
- 34:12SPEAKER_04: Indeed, an obsidian hilted hunting knife was sheathed Where'd it go?
- 34:23SPEAKER_04: At his thigh.
- 34:25SPEAKER_04: It's dark scabbard embossed with a line of silver runes I had never seen before.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: Um and is never mentioned again.
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: Is that not the dagger that goes through the star sword?
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: But they never mention those runes ever again.
- 34:40SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 34:41SPEAKER_04: I th I see what you're saying.
- 34:43SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: But I'd love to know what they say.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:54SPEAKER_04: I'm interested about his burns too.
- 34:57SPEAKER_04: Like the way they're described here, like they're swirled and smudged and rippled, almost like an Illyrian tattoo, except they're burns scarred into his arms.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Poor Rune, he has similar burns, but not but they're he covers them up with tattoos.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: Because his dad's a fucking psycho.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: Um it says they did it with oil and then lighting it on fire.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: Which is crazy.
- 35:29SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: Sadistic.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: And then uh she's looking over at all of their like their gauntlets, their siphons, and everything they're wearing.
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: And then she takes Azrael's hand and she's like, and his rough fingers squeezed mine.
- 35:44SPEAKER_04: His skin was as cold as his face.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: I caught that too.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: Uh 'cause he's he's from hell.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: Or I don't know.
- 36:03SPEAKER_04: I feel like I agree.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: He also has powers from Apollyon.
- 36:07SPEAKER_04: So there's then another quote in chapter 16 that I have I made note of.
- 36:13SPEAKER_04: Um it's on.
- 36:17SPEAKER_04: Let me find it.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: Well, I guess it doesn't matter.
- 36:22SPEAKER_04: Um they're talking about going to um the prison to talk to the bone carver.
- 36:37SPEAKER_04: And they're trying to figure out who would go, and Azrael says, I'll go.
- 36:42SPEAKER_04: The prison sentries know me.
- 36:45SPEAKER_04: What I am.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: Is that just the Shadow Singer thing?
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: Or that he's somehow even more connected to their because like the prison sentries aren't Faye or human.
- 37:04SPEAKER_04: They're like part of the mountain.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he says they only come out at night to feed sometimes when they go over to the mountain.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: Um and they live within the rock of the mountain.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's a weird, weird choice of words there.
- 37:19SPEAKER_04: To say what I am makes me think.
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:23SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: When they're when they're talking about their upbringing and all meeting and stuff, uh at the Illyrian camps, they've they just kind of throw it out there casually, like, oh yeah, another bastard and a shadow singer to boot.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Like keep calling them a shadow singer, like it's rare, but not so rare that the average person wouldn't know what a shadow singer is.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Um which makes me confused because I feel like I feel like that is his kind of big connection to uh some of the princes of hell, like his shadow shadow magic.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: Um Morbin, or Morvin, whatever the hell his name was, the uh um from House of Flame and Chat or Crescent City.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: Uh he has some shadow power.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: Um doesn't seem as powerful as Azreel's, but it's like it seems very important, but also people kinda in universe doesn't seem as important.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 38:42SPEAKER_04: Yes, sorry.
- 38:42SPEAKER_04: I was yawning.
- 38:43SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 38:44SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah.
- 38:47SPEAKER_04: That's chapter 18.
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: I mean 16.
- 38:50SPEAKER_04: Sorry.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: Why?
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Uh okay.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: So I feel like Moore is rather obnoxious through that whole dinner, more so than normal.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's just the audiobooks narrative.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 39:08SPEAKER_04: I mean, she does kind of come across that way, yes.
- 39:13SPEAKER_04: Um I feel like she just hasn't had like another close female friend to talk with.
- 39:26SPEAKER_04: Because her and Amran fight a lot, it seems.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: Very uh touchy subject, sort of.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:38SPEAKER_04: So I don't know about that.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: Maybe we'll get more of that in the next book.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: But she was like, get it.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: Uh but like Moore's personality around Farah, she seems like she's trying to put herself out there so that Farah knows she wants to be her friend.
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: I see what you mean.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: On to chapter 17.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: Alright, so chapter 17 is Farah's first attempt at going down under the mountain.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: Um and as readers, it's our first look at the prison mountain.
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: Uh did you want to talk about your your quotey quote?
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 40:32SPEAKER_04: You know, you could pull some quotes here once in a while.
- 40:37SPEAKER_04: I could.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: Um the quote that I pulled out was um when they're when they get there.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: This is a very short chapter.
- 40:50SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: Uh Reese says this place was made before High Lords existed before Prithian was Prithian.
- 41:01SPEAKER_04: Some of the inmates remember those days.
- 41:04SPEAKER_04: Remember a time when it was Moore's family, not mine, that ruled the north.
- 41:10SPEAKER_04: Uh so he's saying that some of the, you know, people inside remember when Moore's family ruled the north.
- 41:24SPEAKER_04: How long ago was it that Moore's family ruled the North?
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: Hold on, I'm gonna sneeze.
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: And was that before Prithian was Prithian?
- 41:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's like they talk about the before when the Daglin.
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: When in Flame and Shadow, when Celine is talk is it Celine?
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: No.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe it is Celine.
- 41:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's the sister who's monologuing.
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: Uh she talks about how when the Daglin were there, they they stole all the magic, and then when they disappeared, the magic went back into the earth, and that produced the the particular magic that goes and picks High Lords and stuff.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: So I would imagine that's describing when Prithian became Prithian as they know it.
- 42:22SPEAKER_04: I wonder if that's your theory there.
- 42:26SPEAKER_04: When they or I guess that was only 5,000 years ago, not 15,000 years ago.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: When the closed off the Valaris.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:35SPEAKER_04: Because uh there's always the question of why the Knight Court got to keep all of its land when they've divided them after the war.
- 42:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_04: But because it had a bigger territory to begin with than everybody else.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: Way bigger, yeah.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: But if nobody knew about Valaris.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that must have been an awkward conversation about dividing up land.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: Like, no, no, no, we you can't have that area.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: That's that's mine.
- 43:07SPEAKER_04: Well, it wasn't an area, it was just mountains to everyone else looking.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: And with with him saying that Moore's family ruled it before his.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: Um that brings in at least another theory, but also uh Celine says that when she came back, she married in to the family, and everybody forgot that her court even existed.
- 43:36SPEAKER_04: She's related to Reese, right?
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: Because she looks just like Asreel says it looks just like Reese's sister.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's how he's connected to Rune and all that over in Crescent City.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: But uh It reminds me so much of Maeve's storyline in Throw in a Glass when she convinces all the Other city queens like, oh yeah, I'm your sister.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: I've been here the whole time.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Um it just reminds me of that.
- 44:12unknown: Yeah.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: Which makes me think that uh if they're not if Reese and Maeve aren't related, they're at least Reese's power potentially derives from the same type of power as hers.
- 44:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:29SPEAKER_04: I agree with that.
- 44:31SPEAKER_04: Because she also looks her Faye.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: She's confirmed confirmed Vogue, right?
- 44:35SPEAKER_04: Yes, she's a Vogue queen.
- 44:36SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 44:37SPEAKER_04: Um but her Fay body that she uses looks just like Reese and Rune.
- 44:47SPEAKER_04: Plus her palace is the palace atop the Court of Nightmares.
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: Which we've talked about.
- 44:56SPEAKER_04: Anyway.
- 44:59SPEAKER_04: I'm just interested in like who Moore's family seems to be outside of like Kier because he's a dick.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: Um that ruled before Reese's family.
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 45:16SPEAKER_04: What were their powers and you know.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've wondered that a lot.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Um because if they convinced everybody that they were supposed to be there, that means they also convinced Prithian's whole magic system.
- 45:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's interesting.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: But maybe we'll he drops that fact like it's everybody knows it.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: Like, does Keir and Moore know that?
- 45:49SPEAKER_04: And they're just kind of Or is that a fact left in there for us as the reader to see and nobody else?
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: Like he doesn't tell Fairy.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, don't mention that though, because it leads back into the fuck is Moore up to.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: I'm hoping we're gonna get um her point of view a little bit because they're in the map that they released today from the book.
- 46:17SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_04: There's more lands in Valahan that and over there that we're going to see, and that's where she's been.
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: It's where she has her little ranch or whatever, right?
- 46:28SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: Is her her ranch isn't in Valahan.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: It's in Prithian.
- 46:32SPEAKER_04: It's just hidden in Prithian.
- 46:34SPEAKER_04: Um it's she's just been in Valahan trying to um like get them to sign a treaty or something.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:55SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 46:57SPEAKER_04: Her I really feel like her, Reese, and Azrael have a lot more secrets than we know.
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: Reese knows way too much without letting it on to everybody.
- 47:09SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 47:11SPEAKER_04: Especially with his I have that same exact whatever star table that the Autumn King has in Crescent City.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:20SPEAKER_04: And they're able to I almost feel like, aren't they able to like I don't know.
- 47:26SPEAKER_04: What was he was trying to create like star power with that?
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: Who was Autumn King, wasn't he?
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: Um he was trying to dissect the light.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: He was putting it through a prism and then putting it back into light again because he was trying to figure out what was missing.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: He was he was obsessed with figuring out why their power was diminishing.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: Um which he was convinced it had something to do with Thea's light.
- 48:03SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 48:04SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: Reese seems to know something.
- 48:13SPEAKER_04: He's studying Reese seems to know all and just keeps it a secret until the time comes.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like when they go to the bone carver, he he already knows it's the cauldron.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: He already knows all that.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: All he really wanted to know was that it was definitely Highburn who was using it.
- 48:36SPEAKER_04: And what happened to Hyburn?
- 48:38SPEAKER_04: Like after the war, they just like fucking disappeared?
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: Did they all die?
- 48:44SPEAKER_04: They couldn't have all been in the war and died.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, every every male of Age of Fighting might have been.
- 48:54SPEAKER_04: But still, that's It just seems odd that they're never thought of again.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: No.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: Maybe we'll get some of that.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: We keep saying that, but like this could be fucking a very short book that has anything and nothing.
- 49:06SPEAKER_04: I mean, it is going to be short.
- 49:07SPEAKER_04: It's going to be what, two hundred and some pages?
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: Three hundred and some pages?
- 49:13SPEAKER_04: And then parts three and f I mean two and three will be in the next book that comes out in January, which will be bigger.
- 49:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 49:21SPEAKER_04: So it's like a And by bigger I mean like slightly bigger.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: Like a third of a big book.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: What?
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: So like a third of a big book.
- 49:29SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 49:30SPEAKER_04: Just split it into, I think it's supposed to be four parts.
- 49:32SPEAKER_04: So part one is what comes out on the 27th.
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: Parts two and three are in one book together that comes out on January twelfth.
- 49:40SPEAKER_04: And then we know nothing about part four.

- 51:13SPEAKER_04: From the same family of Death Gods.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: They both came from the void or whatever.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 51:22SPEAKER_04: Everything was created in the void.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: In the beginning, there was nothing.
