- 0:00SPEAKER_00: We're gonna do something a little different today.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna talk about the stuff that actually scares us as medical professionals.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: By the way, I'm a banana.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: So the guy that shot his hand off is just walking around.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: Street justice, probably.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Do you think that he has a banana costume?
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: He's like, it's a flashlight.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: I was like, what?
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: He's like, you gotta get here.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: What?
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Scalpel and Skin.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: If you are watching this on YouTube, yes, we are in costume.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And I highly suggest you watch this on YouTube because I'm speaking with a banana currently.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: It's I mean banana.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: I can't like you sitting there, all I can see is your head and the banana.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: I can't see your shoulders or your arms or anything.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: So it's extra ridiculous.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: That's because I'm a banana.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I know that your objective was as ridiculous as possible, and you've succeeded.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Well, I just want you to know that this was costume B.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: Uh, hold on.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: He's gonna show us costume A.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Costume A was even better.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: I got one of those blow up wavy arm inflatable guys listening here.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I'm so disappointed that it didn't.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: I my head is too big.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: I couldn't, it's just one head, one size fits most, adult.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: I was like, I'm good.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: I'm most.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: No, my head's too big.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: I couldn't fit in it.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you're a banana.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Do you know who I am?
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Some oh come on.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: You are not that old.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Look.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: You are there are so many people watching right now.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: Esmeralda.
- 2:00unknown: No.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: From Bewitched.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: No, I'm Danny from Hocus Pocus.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: You know, you're not a millennial.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: You don't know.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Everything.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Okay, I've heard of Hocus Pocus.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: That's uh Bet Medler's in that.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: You've you've heard of Hocus Pocus?
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: You haven't seen Hocus Pocus?
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: I probably watched it with you whenever you were like a baby pooping your pants.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: You're I you're not even an American if you haven't seen Hocus Pocus.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: That is absolute insanity.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I demanded that.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Should I watch Hocus Pocus?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I demanded.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: Or put a comment in there saying that no, I shouldn't watch Hocus Pocus or put a banana in the comments if you think I should watch Hocus Pocus.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Literally, no one has ever said that you shouldn't watch Hocus Pocus.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: It's it's an American pastime.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Uh well, I taught you to watch Freddie Krueger whenever you were a kid.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: I made you who you are.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: So, in honor of Halloween, we're gonna do something a little different today.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: We are going to talk about aesthetic horror stories.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Halloween is in two days.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna talk about the stuff that actually scares us as medical professionals.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Botch procedures, frightening complications, things we've seen that make us think, what the devil were they thinking?
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: What the devil?
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: What the devil?
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: By the way, I'm a banana.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm so glad that you did that.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Cause I was thinking to myself, I want to say what the devil were they thinking?
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: And I want there to be an evil laugh after it, but I couldn't bring myself to do the evil laugh.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So you did it.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Oh, let's see your evil laugh.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: Let's hear it.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, but it's terrible.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: That's why I didn't do it.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Your laugh is bananas.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: So let's talk about some of the scariest things that we have seen.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: I've been in the industry for 16 years.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: You've been in the industry for 18 years, counting fellowship, right?
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: So what's one of the scariest things or complications or situations that you've ever encountered that something that genuinely scared you?
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: So not in aesthetics, but part of plastic surgery is reconstruction.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: And so we would do traumas and we would do fancy uh uh re microsurgical reconstructions and and things like that.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: And some of the traumas that I would see were terrible.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: I I did plastic surgery in Detroit and I did call one night and uh so yeah, it's gory, right?
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: We're good, we're getting gory.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, it's Halloween.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Let's hear it.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Well, it's Halloween, right?
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: So um a guy had come in and he must have really upset somebody because they uh held him down on the ground and uh took a shotgun to his hand and essentially blew his hand off.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: And uh it was a it was basically a a stump.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: It was uh my God.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was fantastic.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: It was uh it was horrible.
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: So I saw that.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: The guy it obviously hurt really bad.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: So the guy was in a lot of pain.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: We managed to get his pain under control eventually with a ton of narcs, but like it was horrifying.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: I can see it in my head right now.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Did he lose his hand?
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: He lost his hand with a shotgun.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: There was there was almost nothing left of it.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: It was uh so it was an amputation.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: He had to he had to Yeah, yeah.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: We we amputated.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we we definitely amputated.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: It was Do you know the backstory?
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: They never tell you.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: They never tell you.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: No, I didn't know the guy.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: I was just walking down the street coming home from church.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: And you know, I all of a sudden my hand got blown off.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And do you so you so the guy that shot his hand off is just walking around right now?
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: Street street justice, probably at some point.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Do you think that he has a banana costume?
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Um no, no, I doubt it.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: No, not that cool.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: He's not that cool.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: People who shoot other people's hands off are not cool enough to have a banana costume.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: I I'm gonna give a plug.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: Um, a couple of years ago, I was on the TikTok shop and I saw something called a nana hat.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: And basically, it's like a cover over the top of the bunch of your bananas, and it keeps just it, you just cover it uh and it keeps your bananas fresher longer, and it's called a banana hat.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: And I I bought one.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: I bought a monkey one.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: It goes right up here on your bunch of bananas.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: So there we go.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Once again, we make the world's most intense 180 shift from shotgun hand injuries to banana hats.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: This is scalpel and skin.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, nana hat.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: Welcome to scalpel and skin.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: I'm Dr.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: Eldra Labraska, board certified plastic surgeon.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: I've gone on 17 years with my witchy sister, Mystica or Danny from Hocus Pocus.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: She wishes she wishes she was an actress.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: She's just a witch.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: True.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: That's true too.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: How about what about you?
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: What is uh what's a scary thing that you were thinking of?
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: You you came, you brought all the prep for this one today.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: So go ahead, tell me about it.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: All right, what are you thinking about?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: I've got I've got one that I'll never forget.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I've got one of those, one of those career complications that you just will never will will stay with you forever.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: So this was very early on in my career as a derm PA, cosmetic derm PA.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: I was probably, I'm I was probably three or four years in, which is which is young in in this field, in my opinion.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: For sure.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: I was still very green and I hadn't dealt with infections from filler, fortunately.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And knock on wood, I have never dealt with any of my own.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Knocking on wood, big time.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: So the this patient came in.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: She was on my schedule as a derm patient.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: So, and the and the chief complaint was redness in the face.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I'm thinking okay, this is gonna be an easy one.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be rosacea or something quick.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: It's the end of the day.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And I go in, and the story is that she was at a a Botox party about six weeks prior.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: And the Botox party was in her friend's basement, and she got radius in her face.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, good.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: In someone's basement.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: So what's what's radius?
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Tell the people what radius is.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Uh radius is uh hydro uh calcium, calcium hydroxyapatite, and it is not you can't you can't get rid of it like you can with an HA filler.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: So uh you're stuck with it.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's not it's not hyaluronic acid, so you can't dissolve it.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Um it's it fills, but it also stimulates some collagen.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: In the right hands, it's a very good treatment.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Um, in the wrong hands, it can be very dangerous, just like anything else in this industry.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: So I go in and she has just this giant firm mass in her cheek.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: It's warm, it's tender, she's she has swelling extending back into her ear.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: So it's clearly an abscess, right?
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: It's clearly a pocket of infection.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Um, so I ended up I ended up draining it and um I had my my attending was there too, obviously.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: So I brought her.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: Did you put a needle in it or did you cut it?
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Put a needle in it and manually drained it.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you aspirated all the pus out.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Cultured the bacteria.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Then she comes back a few days later.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: She has another abscess on the other side of the face.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: We drain this one.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: By that time we had the culture back, put her on the right antibiotic.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: I see her about two weeks later.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: She's back again.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: She has this time orbital cellulitis.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: So I had to send her to the ER for a CT.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Was it all from that same injection?
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: So I she she went to the ER, um, IV antibiotics, and I saw her one additional time to drain more abscesses in her face.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: She had, you could feel the individual abscesses in her cheeks.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: And so it was probably biofilms, right?
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: So biofilms or something that happened with fillers where you get this pocket of infection and antibiotics just can't penetrate it.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: And you've got to be on antibiotics for at least a month, if not longer.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: And you know, eventually I I I think she she like she stopped following up.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: I remember we we called her multiple times um because she missed an appointment or two, and and she was just lost a follow-up.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: So I I don't know what happened.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: I know that she has some.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Was she young?
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: How old was she?
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: 20s, 30s, 40s?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: No, I would say late 30s, early 40s at the time.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: So that is why you don't get filler somewhere that's not a medical office.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: That's why people do crazy stuff.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: Crazy.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: What you're you're bringing that up made me think of a of a gentleman that I saw very early in my career.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: Infectious disease sent him to me.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: He had these abscesses on his, let's, let's say first on his right hand, and I had to drain them.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: And then eventually I had to remove the certain parts of his skin.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: And he had, so he had an open wound, and then it was on the other side, and then I put a dressing on it.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: And then the same thing happened on the other side.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: And then it was, if his dressing was to hear, was to hear the after the first time, he had it a problem here.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: So eventually I Mursa?
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: Was it Mursa?
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: I skinned over a period of like two or three weeks, I had skinned his arm almost to the elbow, not his hand, not his palms, not his fingers, but the back of his hand all the way up almost to his elbow on the one side and halfway up on the other side.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: And and we had biopsied and it took a while for it to come back.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: Can I guess?
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go ahead.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Is it gonna be something?
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Is it gonna be something that I could potentially guess, or is it gonna be really wild and weird?
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: It's wild.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, so tell us.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: Talc.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: He was injecting talc on his own into his hands as like a Munchausen's thing.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: What?
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: He was injecting talc, like baby powder, like into his arms.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: So he was intentionally.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: He was intentionally doing that.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: I thought it was drugs, I thought it was uh like whatever.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: It was it was talc.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: That is not at all what I thought you were going to say.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Nope, it was talc.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: And and he was like negative for like regular street drugs too.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: So, because you'd think, I don't know, that he got some crazy mix.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: I don't, I don't know.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: I never saw it before, after.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: I'm sure now I could chat GPT and tell me what what that's all about.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: But it was like 15 years ago.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: It was very early in my career.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: And then as soon as I found that out, I was done with him.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: And then he went to infectious, he went back to infectious disease for like a week and then he disappeared.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: He had like no skin on his on his arm.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, that's crazy.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: That's a case report.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: That's that's a a case report right up.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: That's wild.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: So for those of you, he wasn't, we weren't looking at like muscle.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: We were looking at like fat.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: That's a good one.
- 13:54unknown: Yeah.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: That's a good one.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: I bet you have some really good ones from your ER days.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, so many.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: So many.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: You know, I I probably should have written, I probably, if I had had a week, I'd have written them all, you know, I've written a bunch of them down.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: But yeah, all kinds of crazy stuff.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: So what's the what is the scariest treatment request a patient has ever given you?
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: What's the scariest thing that they've asked for that's that has made you say, I'm absolutely not doing that?
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: I there was a guy in uh when I was on rotation, so he was a he was a bodybuilder.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: He was in enormous, he was just a large human.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: He was on steroids and everything, and he just looked like a very, very large human.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: And he came in because his 18-year-old son, who was also, I assume, you know, uh wrote it out on on as a bodybuilder, had larger calves than him.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: No.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: And so he wanted silicone calf implants.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: He had the biggest calves I had ever seen.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: Basically, it was a guy that guys, we tease each other incessantly.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: We are brutal to each other.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: That's how we can handle online comments, right?
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: And so his friends had teased him into the fact that making him think that his calves weren't big.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: And so he came in for calf implants.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, and by the way, he was an MMA fighter uh and he took kicks to the legs all the time.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: So that was just another reason to not do it.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: But like this it's just a super dumb request.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: That's that that's that's a hard no.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: That is a hard no.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: On a lesser side, I had a uh a lady, she was in her 80s.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: She came in because her butt was a little saggy and she wanted a BBL in her in her 80s.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: I politely recommended, you know, your butt might be sagging a little bit, but you're doing pretty good.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: Um, if you really want to get something done, you know, that that might be a higher yield procedure for you, maybe like a facelift.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: You know, maybe just like a facelift.
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: Find the thing that everybody sees.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: I don't know if you want like the juicy bedonka donk in the nursing home.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: I said that.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I said that.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I you said juicy bedonkadonk.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: I was yeah, that that's a millennial term, isn't it?
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: It's it's definitely not a Gen X term.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: No, that's definitely a millennial term.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: Badonkadonk.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: That's you know what?
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: When you when you're dressed the way that you are right now, you should only say bedonkadonk.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: You should not say glutes or buttocks.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: No medical terminology coming out of you.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: I refuse to hear it.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: Consider it done.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: What else?
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: What do you want to talk about today on this Halloween episode of Scalpel and Skin Podcast?
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: All right, how about this one?
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: I've got one for you.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: What do you think is the scariest trend that's happening right now in the field of aesthetics andor plastic surgery?
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's a tough one.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: I mean, there are there are several, but you know, the kind of the go-to one for, you know, off and on for years is threads.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: Just I just think threads are just always a bad idea, just a unnecessary.
- 17:13SPEAKER_02: There are better, there are always better options.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: There are always more long-term options, and there are always more effective, even cheaper options.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna default to threads probably a lot, Nanahan.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: How about um black market product?
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: That's a big one.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Terrifying, terrifying.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: It's the I feel like every month there's there's a story.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: There was, when I was looking around, just seeing, you know, when the most recent thing has happened, there's just a news story this week about a practice owner in New York City, Upper East Side.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Her name is Clara Schuster.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna say her name because she deserves her name to be blasted on the internet for what she's done.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: She, she's an aesthetician, and she was, she actually has pleaded guilty, admitted to illegally importing botulinum toxin products from Korea and then administering them to clients and presenting it as if it was Botox.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: So not only is she an unlicensed, unqualified provider, she's not licensed to be injecting, she's an aesthetician.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: She's also importing products illegally and injecting them.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: And one of her patients actually developed botulism and they were hospitalized with it.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And I and I feel like this is the story over and over again.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: It just happens.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: And she did it.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Ready for this?
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: She did it from 2020 to 2025.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: She was doing it.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, thousands of patients.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: So she she pleaded guilty in federal court, and um, I guess she's waiting awaiting sentencing.
- 18:46SPEAKER_02: Throw away the key, right?
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: But this is this is one of many stories of of people doing this.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: And I think, I think there's a nuance though.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: The nuance is that imported products aren't necessarily dangerous, right?
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying that products coming from Korea are all going to be.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: Dangerous to your medical license.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Dangerous because it's illegal to do it, dangerous because it's unregulated, dangerous because you don't know what's in it, you don't know where you're getting it, what what who's the manufacturer.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, lots of reasons.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Lots of reasons.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: But of course, you know, there's there's Korean skincare and stuff like that.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: This is but this is entirely different animal.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: Totally a different story.
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: That that's that's that's comparing comparing like um cars to bananas.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: So, you know.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's also the the the people on TikTok, I know you've seen it, people on social media who purchase.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: There was a woman five years or so ago who like had a very big following, and I like I stitched one of her videos and she injecting herself.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Yes, and she was teaching other people how to get stuff from Korea.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: And I was like, and I I I I stitched it.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: I said, listen, you don't want to go getting your getting your your stuff off black market from Korea, and like I got a bunch of hate comments about it.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: I I I stand by what I said.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, comment terrible idea.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Well, that yeah, that's what I mean.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: People people don't understand that it's people always want to save a buck and risk their life.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: This is not skincare.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: These are these are prescriptions.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: So, but on TikTok, you can easily find it.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: There are plenty of influencers who will purchase what Botox air quotes.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: We'll just say on the internet.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: So, okay, so the internet.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: They they're getting it on the internet.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: The internet, yes.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Um, and and they they'll mark out their face and actually do the injections.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: And there are people who put tutorials out there on on where to put it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: I see this, I see people doing lip injections.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: That's insane.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: And I get mad at you whenever you tell me you did your own Botox.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: I'm like, what are you doing?
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: What's your why?
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Desperate times, desperate times.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: I haven't done my own Botox in a while.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: I know I did your Botox the other day.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: And my PRF and my sculpture.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Are you bruised?
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: I barely bruised.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: I think you were gonna bruise under your right eye a little bit, did you?
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Barely.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Barely.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: I tried to make you bruise.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: All right, how about I've got another one for you.
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm ready.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: How do you feel about medical tourism?
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: I think there are reasonable choices.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: Like there are some great plastic surgeons in like Dr.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: Hoyos in uh in South America, Alfredo Hoyos.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: He's one of the best liposuction surgeons in the world.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: He's spectacular.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: Would I go to him?
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I absolutely would.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: Would I go to um to Tijuana?
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: No.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: No, I I wouldn't.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: How about what do you think of?
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Turkish hair transplants.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: They really make it look bougie.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: Boy, they really make it look good, huh?
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: They do.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, there have been times where I've watched those videos and I've been like, you know what?
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: I want to go to Turkey for a hair transplant.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: This looks amazing.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Listen, I uh five-star treatment they're getting.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: You know, it's it's not exactly surgery so much as a tummy tuck or a facelift is surgery.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: Is it invasive?
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's more invasive than filler or Botox or whatever.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I'm I'm not saying do it.
- 22:37SPEAKER_02: I'm saying I'm listening.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Would I would I fly to somewhere to get like full body testing to make sure I don't die in five years and save, you know, 10 grand over a$5,000 MRI or CT scan here?
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, probably.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: So you're talking about um when you go and they and they do every test under the sun to risk stratify you, essentially.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Where do they do that?
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: What countries do they do that in?
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: Uh I think Turkey's one.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: Is it?
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: I think Turkey's.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: I'll do it.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Let's let's go to let's go to Turkey and scan up our stuff.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Everybody let us know.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: We'll we'll we'll have a group, right?
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: I'm just kidding.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: I we just talk sometimes, you know.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: Okay, how about this?
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Would I do that?
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: I don't know, maybe.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: You know, I I uh I I have uh I have a lot of people rely on me and and will rely on me for a long time.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: So it would suck if I got like something terrible.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Listen, I already told you when we opened Skin Lab that you can't die.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was like your number one thing.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: It was done.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: That was a conversation.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: What happens if you die?
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: I'll be dead.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: That'll suck.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: That'll suck.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: See, she loves me.
- 23:53SPEAKER_02: My little sister, she loves me.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: There it is, right there.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, how about this?
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: What's what's your biggest fear when you're sharks.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: Being eaten by sharks.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Aside from sharks, when you're when you're when you're doing surgery, when you're when you're in the R, what's a what's a surgeon's biggest fear?
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Other than a pa other than the obvious losing a patient, right?
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so my biggest fear is uh when I'm scrubbed in and they start throwing a bunch of country music on the radio.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: Uh and I and I can't stop.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: Like I can't like I'm in the middle of surgery and like it's not like it's not my Siri or Alexa, and so I can't make it stop.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: And they play a bunch of country music and they're so mean and it's terrible and I hate it.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: I I can understand why, because every once in a while the Alexa in Skinlab will start playing country music, and my entire body twitches until it's changed.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: I mean it's not the vibe.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: I you yeah.
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: It's it's not gonna I'm not gonna even say what I say whenever it comes on.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: It's it's it's a little too graphic.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Sorry if you guys love country music.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: It's just I'll still treat you if you love country music.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: Uh it's no problem.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: I just I will only play it while you fall asleep or wake up.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: Um and we're from Du Boys, so it doesn't really make sense that we don't like country music, but we don't.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: It does.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: I'm from I'm from the street.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: Just look at me.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: All right, how about this?
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: What are some what are some hard no's for you?
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Or are there anything, is there anything that you see in a patient that would be a red flag that would scare you enough to not want to do surgery on them?
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: Smoking.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: I mean, smoking is the the biggest number one for sure.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: Uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled high, high blood pressure, uh just someone who comes in and and will not listen.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: I I also have a hard no.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: So I had a a brachioplasty yes yesterday, and the patient came in with gel nails on, and uh and like we we prep everything and and your instructions say no gel nail no nail polish.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: The instructions say over and over, over and over and over and over and over.
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: Uh please no gel nails.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: And we talked to you about it like three or four times.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: So what do I do?
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: I say, okay, send her across the street.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: And they go and they get their nails removed.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: And then she was mad.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: She's like, we had a girl weekend.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: You know, I had my no, my, my na my fingernails done and my toes done.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: I was like, you can keep the toes.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: That's fine.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: I don't want to see your toes.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: That's fine.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: And so is there somewhere to go?
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: They're somewhere nearby.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right across the street.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: I I don't know where that is, but they say right across the street.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: That's convenient.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's great.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're back in 20 minutes without nails.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: So this has happened before.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:42SPEAKER_02: I mean, people nobody listens.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: It happens all the time.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: It's true.
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: But I appreciate if you if you do listen.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: I had a patient today uh for breast dog, and she had her nails on.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: Um, but I was a little more flexible with that.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: I it wasn't an arm.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: Okay, how about this?
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: I've got, I'm gonna name something.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be a rapid fire.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna name something trick or terror.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: You tell me how much it scares you on a scale of one to ten.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: Ten's the scariest, okay?
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: You throw out some scenarios.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Flying home 24 hours after a major plastic surgery.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: Six.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: Filler in the nose.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Four.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Three.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: It doesn't bother.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: I uh you know.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: I do I do it occasionally.
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: You don't do it.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: No, I don't do it.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't do nose filler.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: It's the only thing only place I won't put filler.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: How about a patient hiding their smoking history?
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: 10.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: But you test them, right?
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: I test the shit out of you.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: An injector without hyaluronidase available.
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: 14.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: Dumb.
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: Just dumb.
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: Just too much of a risk.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: Not worth it.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: A patient asking for a fifth revision rhinoplasty.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's no problem to me.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: I just send that to somebody else.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: I send that to Dr.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: Perlman in New York City.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: He's amazing.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Uh, or Dr.
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: Shaw in uh Chicago, also amazing.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: So yeah, no problem.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: That won't even make it to me.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: It's nice to have people to punt things to.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: How about getting multiple procedures because they're discounted?
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Four?
- 28:21SPEAKER_02: I I don't, I won't do it.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: So I had a lady, uh, I just had a lady yesterday.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: She was uh she's on for tummy and breasts by me.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: And uh she'd been following me for years.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: Um uh yesterday was her pre-op.
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: She told me that we did a consult like six months ago first, and she saw somebody else two months before, and that the person that she saw was gonna agree to do an arm lift, a butt lift, a thigh lift, and the tummy and the breast all on the same day.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: No.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: I couldn't like listen.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: Thankfully, she she said, I heard enough of your videos that I said that doesn't seem safe.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: And and I didn't do it, and and she's gonna go with me, and we're gonna do it in a couple stages.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be safe, it's gonna be better.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: And I so I can't even think.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: So the the I I'm a I'm an efficient plastic surgeon.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: I'm not the fastest, I'm not the slowest, I, but I I think I'm about the safest.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: That the what I'm already gonna do on her is gonna take five hours, probably, of my time.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: And to add in the arms, the the flip that would be required to do her her her butt lift and her thighs, you're looking at 10, 12 hours of surgery or three surgeons working at the same time.
- 29:45SPEAKER_02: And and so you're not really getting your surgeon.
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: You're getting you're you're signing up for a procedure, but not really a surgeon.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: I so those would be the two choices.
- 29:54SPEAKER_02: And unnecessarily long surgery or multiple surgeons who you don't even know.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: Is is the big the biggest risk is time under anesthesia?
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Is that fair to say?
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the time uh uh time under anesthesia and and the the PE, the pulmonary embolus and and blood clots and and everything else that comes with that.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: You don't want to be under anesthesia for that long uh unless you uh unless you're having some other like a face transplant or something.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: Wasn't is it has there been a face transplant yet?
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: Has that been Yeah, there's been a bunch of them.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: They're actually really good.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Are they really maybe did one in at Pitt?
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: I maybe, or maybe some of the Pitt surgeons went to where they were.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think so.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: I could be wrong, or maybe just a couple of the surgeons went there, uh, went to wherever it was being done.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's actually um it's it's astounding.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: There, there are some in there are some terrible things in my field, but there are also some incredible surgeons in my field that that I just uh I marvel at.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: I bet that would be a bucketless thing as a plastic surgeon to see, right?
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: I would I would go in and I I would do like I would just hold hold suction for 10 hours just to watch it happen.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: You know, I I just would.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: That would be really cool.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's amazing.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Um, what else?
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: We have anything else?
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Um anything else scary?
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: Any uh any other really spooky classic surgery stories in your career?
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, I'm sure of it.
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: Um I can't really think about it.
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: I can't really think of it right now.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: We we've hit on some some good ones.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: You know, it's just trauma, over trauma, uh some really bad tattoos, maybe.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: Uh, but I don't think I can talk about some identifying tattoos.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: Um but I've let's just say I've seen some really interesting tattoos in my life.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, one one more, I've got I want one more story out of you.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Non-stop tattoos.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: How about when you I know that you your time in the ER as a resident, you you saw some things where people allegedly fell on top of it.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's so terrible.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, what what is the worst thing that you have had to surgically remove from a rectum?
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: A D battery kitchen flashlight.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to keep a straight face.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: A D battery kitchen flashlight.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: I um is it am I allowed to laugh?
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: I mean Yeah.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: They said they fell on it, right?
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: Well, uh, of course.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: So the the story goes my my friend who was an ER resident at the time called me and he was so excited.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: He's oh my god, oh, you gotta come down here.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: It's up in there, it's up in there, it's up in there.
- 32:39SPEAKER_02: I'm like, what?
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: What's up in there?
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: He's like, you gotta see it, it's up in there.
- 32:43SPEAKER_02: And and and he's like, it's a flashlight.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: I was like, what?
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: He's like, you gotta get here.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: So I get there and and he's the the film, so it was back in the day when when X like you would hang an X-ray from a from a light box.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: So you know it was pre-Mystica time.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: And uh he's like, and he he shows it to me, and it's it's a it's a real D battery size kitchen flashlight uh up in there.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: So we're talking about six inches.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: Eight inches?
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: Yes, and and you know, probably as thick as this water ball, almost as thick as this water ball.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: Um, and he goes, Yeah, I I was in there and he like taps, he's like, I I he told me it was in there, and I went there and like I was feeling around and feel it, and then all of a sudden I'm gonna try and make the sound.
- 33:32SPEAKER_02: Can you hear that sound?
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: Uh-uh.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: Could you hear that?
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: Can't hear it.
- 33:35SPEAKER_02: Anyway, anyway, there's a sound.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: It's a sound of tapping a flashlight up a rectum.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, he he could tap it, and that's how he's like.
- 33:44SPEAKER_02: He palpated it up in there, yeah.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: And uh, and and he immediately ordered the film and then immediately called me on the phone.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: So then we go into the to the OR and we remove it, and then you have to do a colonoscopy, like a scope to check the colon and make sure there's no rupture or anything like that.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: And I found a a plastic uh spoon.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: No, wait, I'm sorry.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Can we can we go back?
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: You you were in the yard to remove the flashlight.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: You removed the flashlight and further up was a spoon.
- 34:20SPEAKER_02: No, it was hidden by the by the flashlight.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: Like the if it was separate, if it was higher up, it would have showed up on the X-ray, but it was hidden.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: You didn't know it was there.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: It was like a bonus, it was a surprise.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: Poor guy.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: Well, five years before that, he had uh given himself a colostomy by putting a screwdriver up there.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, jeez, man.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: Nothing is safe at his house.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: So, so I'm you know, I'm not gonna kink shame anyone, but he should he should probably he should probably come up with something a little safer.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: He should probably come up with something a little safe.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: Just saying.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: His health insurance would ask the same, I'm sure.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: Well, he would he would be in his 90s now if he were still alive.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: So I I'm I'm just gonna assume it's probably passed since then.
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: But somebody else is doing the same thing right now.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Those stories are always on on the internet on social media.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they are.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: They they put I've seen x-rays, they put x-rays on there.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: I'm surprised that social media doesn't, you know, uh what's the word?
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: Not filter it, um, screen it.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: Flag it for inappropriate, yeah.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, flag it for inappropriate content.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so that happened.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: That's that's wild.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: That's I mean, that's not that's not I wouldn't call that scary, but I would definitely call that.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: It was scary if it was up your butt.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: The I mean the screwdriver is is scary.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: I mean wild.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: It's wild.

- 36:19SPEAKER_00: I do hope that some people are concerned about general kitchen items and what you should do with them, though.
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, anything you put up there should have a flared end, is what we tell people.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: Flared end.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, you actually counsel them.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: You counsel them.
