- 0:00Not on the cloud. Okay, I guess we're ready to get
- 0:09started. Yes, we are.
- 0:12We are So good morning everyone. Once again, welcome to the
- 0:18cultural integration Fellowship. We were founded in 1951 by dr.
- 0:24Heidi's and Bina chaudry as a center of universal, religion
- 0:27and spiritual practice. And in, keeping with the spirit
- 0:31of unity in diversity, we honor the spiritual traditions, of
- 0:35diverse cultures, and religions. Today's topic of the talk is
- 0:44practical applications for solving the existence of crisis
- 0:48of humanity. We will Lucien of is this and we
- 0:56are delighted to have Santosh krinsky.
- 0:59Giving this talk Santosh has a long relationship with the
- 1:05cultural integration. Fellowship was familiar to both
- 1:08dr. Heidi's Chaudhary and peanut
- 1:11shells re and it was through my conversations with Nina that I
- 1:15came to know about Santosh. Santosh has been studying,
- 1:20shorten those writing since 1971 and has a daily blog at SRI,
- 1:26aurobindo studies Dot World, press.com and podcast, at Anchor
- 1:38dot f m-- forward slash Santosh. Dash krinsky.
- 1:48He's the author of 16 books and is editor-in-chief at Lotus
- 1:52press. He is president of the institute
- 1:56for holistic, education, a non-profit focused on
- 2:00integrating spirituality into daily life.
- 2:03He has spent more than 48 years building and developing
- 2:07infrastructure for publishing Distributing and educating about
- 2:13the spiritual path of short window as well as developing and
- 2:17guiding companies at the Forefront of publishing books
- 2:22and distributing books. And products to support the
- 2:27Natural Market, as well as the metaphysical Market.
- 2:31In North America. Now, before I hand over the
- 2:37screen to Santosh, I would like to read a poem.
- 2:47From dr. Heidi's Chaudhary, it's a short
- 2:52poem. Very beautiful one, and this is
- 2:56from The Collection. Once again, the rhythm of Truth.
- 3:07My name is wisdom. Oh, the Supreme mystery
- 3:14unfathomable in essence. Now are visible only to the
- 3:20souls in word. I, for thy name is wisdom.
- 3:27Thou'rt. Wisdom in Social Development.
- 3:32Wisdom in cultural unfoldment. Wisdom, That Forgives the hand
- 3:40that crucifies. Wisdom that tolerates.
- 3:44The tongue that vilifies Wisdom, that reveals the Grandeur of
- 3:53Truth. Wisdom that teaches the unity of
- 3:57all beings wisdom that fights Universal freedom to win.
- 4:05Wisdom that sees pervading all existence.
- 4:11One, all fulfilling spiritual essence.
- 4:22A moment of silence 12 on those beautiful words.
- 4:36I will come those prints. Came back to the fellowship once
- 4:40again. Thank you.
- 4:45Thank you agreeing to give the talks in touch over to you.
- 4:50Welcome to everybody a couple of points real quick.
- 4:54We've got a lot of ground to cover this morning, so I'm
- 4:58hoping if you have any questions or notes or anything you want to
- 5:02make, please mark them down and we'll cover them towards the
- 5:07end. And in the meantime, we're going
- 5:10to roll through the stuff here because there's a lot of
- 5:12content. So the topic solving the
- 5:17existential crisis of humanity through.
- 5:20The evolution of Consciousness needs a little bit of parsing
- 5:26because people don't always recognize what is this
- 5:31existential crisis. You know, we talked about oh
- 5:36there's climate change and there's various problems that
- 5:41are coming up and people are fighting with each other but we
- 5:44don't really put it all together as an interrelated.
- 5:50Complex of symptoms of a larger issue that we're trying to deal
- 5:58with here climate change. Is basically not just global
- 6:08warming but it's the impacts that take place with global
- 6:13warming. You have, as we see, we see the
- 6:17forest fires, we see the increased intensity of the
- 6:20storms, we see droughts, we see floods but we're not recognize.
- 6:28Is that the Glacier melt. That's taking place in Greenland
- 6:36and elsewhere is driving a lot of very cold, fresh water.
- 6:41Into the oceans and changing the salinity of the oceans with
- 6:46potentially catastrophic impacts.
- 6:50We're not seeing that. The same process is destroying
- 6:58the coral reefs which are the incubators Of the food chain in
- 7:04the ocean, if you will. And we don't see that the
- 7:09freshwater supply of the earth is dwindling dramatically and
- 7:15that places like Lake. Mead are drying out the Colorado
- 7:20River. Another major source of water
- 7:23for the Western us is a drying up and there are serious
- 7:29implications of every one of these changes that lead to the
- 7:36Teachers that bring upon us War. Drought famine pandemics mass
- 7:45migrations people fighting over basic resources.
- 7:50So all of these things, they're not separated symptoms.
- 7:54They're actually part of a complex of the disease, which I
- 7:59call The evolutionary crisis of humanity.
- 8:02According to scientists, were in the midst of what we call, the
- 8:06sixth major planetary die off. They're calling it, The Holo
- 8:11seen die off because we're in the whole scene error and
- 8:16basically they're saying that the species died off that's
- 8:20taking place. Today is 100 to 1000 times the
- 8:26background rate of species die off that takes place on the
- 8:30planet sort of naturally. This is at a level that equates
- 8:36to the time of the destruction of the dinosaurs.
- 8:41When the asteroid hit and there was a global winter, you know,
- 8:46for many, many, many years, and we're in the midst of that
- 8:52process right now. What people don't recognize is
- 8:57that part of this includes the die-off of the pollinators, we
- 9:04hear about the many species of bees that are disappearing and
- 9:10Basically, all of our fruits and vegetables depend on
- 9:13pollinators. Now, let's say this, the mental
- 9:17approach of our scientists and Engineers is working hard to
- 9:20solve that one, they're designing little miniature drone
- 9:24bees to pollinate things. So that when there are no real
- 9:28bees around anymore, we'll have these buzzing little drones
- 9:32flying around pollinating things.
- 9:35Great illustration of the mental approach to solving our
- 9:38problems, but it does. Get to the root of the issue.
- 9:43We have an imbalance and access to resources our economic and
- 9:49political systems are based in the mental Consciousness and
- 9:54everybody has their own ideas. The religions, the philosophies,
- 9:58the political systems, the economic systems, everybody has
- 10:02their own sense of what it is. It takes to solve our problems.
- 10:11and unfortunately, they all disagree with each other, and
- 10:15therefore, we wind up with what we see today in the world, which
- 10:19is political gridlock, and controlled by certain
- 10:24individuals of mass amounts of resources without the ability to
- 10:34distribute them equitably across the planet, which accentuates
- 10:39the Pain, The Suffering, The Anger, the disruption, and the
- 10:46war, as the fighting in the migrations that take place
- 10:52Albert. Einstein had an interesting
- 10:54statement that I always like to remind people of and that's
- 10:58that. He said, we cannot solve our
- 11:01problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
- 11:08And so the existential crisis that we're facing cannot be
- 11:14solved with the kind of political and economic and
- 11:19societal solutions that the Mind comes up with and that's why we
- 11:25have the gridlock that we face today.
- 11:28Because nobody has an answer at that level mental Solutions have
- 11:34not worked and will not work. We need a new paradigm. it's at
- 11:41this point that SRI aurobindo comes into the picture and I
- 11:46have to say back in 1971, when I first came across your old
- 11:53windows, the life Divine, I was struck by how prescient and how
- 12:00clear his view of the process of What I would call the evolution
- 12:09of Consciousness or what he calls, the evolution of
- 12:11Consciousness was, if you look at Evolution, well, let's step
- 12:18back one step. The crisis were facing today is
- 12:24not. An impossible challenge.
- 12:29It may seem impossible if you really spend time focusing on
- 12:34all the things I just mentioned, you'd say, how are we going to
- 12:38get out of this? Some people want to just go to
- 12:42Mars and abandon the the world other people just hope that
- 12:48somehow big Tech is going to solve all these problems and
- 12:53we're going to come out of it, but it's actually part of a
- 12:57deeper process of nature. Nature creates.
- 13:03A major crisis for us to be able to thereby or for all of
- 13:12existence to thereby, make the next evolutionary leap.
- 13:18When we are happy satisfied, contented, everything going
- 13:24fine. We don't make the effort.
- 13:28To change things. And as a result, we need and we
- 13:34see in Humanity's history, we need a major crisis to focus,
- 13:38our attention, and so nature presents this crisis to us.
- 13:44And that gives us the energy to move to the next cycle of
- 13:52evolution. If we look at the evolution of
- 13:56forms and we go back to Darwin and he said, oh, there's an
- 14:01evolution of forms and the different beings evolved one
- 14:05from another. He got the mechanism pretty much
- 14:11right, what he didn't get to was the underlying impetus.
- 14:18The impulse that creates the evolution of forms.
- 14:24What? Is it that drives us from?
- 14:29One level to the next. And that is where SRI aurobindo
- 14:33comes in by pointing out that behind the evolution of forms is
- 14:39an evolution of consciousness. You see if you go back billions
- 14:46a year as you see purely material forms, you see rocks,
- 14:51you see magma, you see, volcanic action.
- 14:54You see possibly solar energy and water and air and that's
- 15:01about it. You don't see any living forms
- 15:06there. Somewhere somehow a
- 15:11Consciousness, existed was involved in the process and that
- 15:18Consciousness when the forms were prepared, when the forms
- 15:22were ready to accept, it could bring forth life. now, not every
- 15:31bit of matter, is prepared to bring forth life you can Sit on
- 15:38and hibernate with a rock of piece of granite or a piece of
- 15:44volcanic magma for a billion years and you're never going to
- 15:51wind up with a living being coming out of it.
- 15:55That's not how it works. What happens is that as the
- 16:00material substance set, Eliza's, Chips.
- 16:08Prepared to carry the spark of life in those parts of matter.
- 16:17Life begins to evolve, we see the development of metals, we
- 16:20see the develop development of crystals.
- 16:24And then we see the development of material forms that can
- 16:30actually hold the Life Energy at which point life evolves.
- 16:38Similarly, if we move forward, we see that you go from the
- 16:42one-celled plants and the animals to very rudimentary
- 16:49forms that have very rudimentary mental process eventually.
- 16:54The mental process develops, when the forms are ready to hold
- 17:00them. They evolved.
- 17:02But they were involved there and We see that now with our
- 17:08understanding of genetics and the function of DNA that
- 17:14encodes. What's what?
- 17:17And what comes out of it, you're not going to get a monkey out of
- 17:23an acorn and you're not going to get a human being out of the
- 17:30seed of a plant. There's an encoding that takes
- 17:33place a Consciousness that is involved.
- 17:38That permits that Evolution to take place the evolution of
- 17:44consciousness. Is not completed in 3.
- 17:50Aurobindo has mentioned that man.
- 17:54As a hewmet is a transitional being basically the mental being
- 18:01that we embody. In our most ideal form is
- 18:09basically not the end of evolution just as life evolved
- 18:16out of matter. And mind evolves out of life.
- 18:22He turned the next level of evolution to be beyond the mind,
- 18:26which he called Supra mental. Literally beyond the mind, it's
- 18:32a new form of consciousness. That is taking birth within the
- 18:42crisis of evolution within the crisis that we're facing today.
- 18:50And that is really that the secret of why we're struggling
- 18:55with this. We start to see The signs of
- 19:02this taking place the development of new ways of
- 19:07looking at things new ways of addressing things.
- 19:13The mind is extremely linear and blinkered and focused.
- 19:19And it sees one line of approach and doesn't respond to the
- 19:29completeness. The wholeness, the Oneness of
- 19:33its life, and its environment and circumstances and its
- 19:37surroundings. so, The Supra mental Evolution begins to see
- 19:45things as part of a Oneness where we take into account the
- 19:53Cradle to grave thinking the symbiotic relationships.
- 20:01You know, people say oh we need to plant trees because we're
- 20:05deforesting trees and they they hold Carbon dioxide and they
- 20:11create oxygen. Well, we're actually one being
- 20:16with the trees. We provide the carbon dioxide
- 20:21that they need to survive and the trees provide the oxygen, we
- 20:26need to survive and and not just the trees, all the plants.
- 20:30Actually the single-celled plants in the ocean provide more
- 20:36oxygen than trees do and we're The process right now of
- 20:40destroying the ocean food chain and we're seeing the collapse of
- 20:47the Fisheries taking place. These are these are the
- 20:52existential crisis. We have, because without the
- 20:55oxygen, that they create without the food chain that they
- 21:00nurture. And Supply, humanity is
- 21:03basically going to go extinct. That is that is the nature of
- 21:09our challenge. The super mental Consciousness
- 21:17looks at things holistically globally, it sees that all of
- 21:22the different solutions and all of the different viewpoints and
- 21:26all of the different philosophies and all of the
- 21:28different economic systems and all of the different political
- 21:32ideologies have some grain of the truth within them, but not
- 21:39the entirety. And it is time to have a new
- 21:45view of that. And Humanity is preparing just
- 21:52as matter was prepared, so that certain parts of it would hold
- 21:57life. And life was prepared.
- 22:01So that certain parts of it could hold the mental
- 22:03consciousness. We see certain aspects and parts
- 22:07of humanity that are developing, in order to hold this new
- 22:14paradigm and this new energy and people who are motivated, To try
- 22:23to live a life that brings in contacts and retuns their
- 22:31awareness towards this. New status of consciousness.
- 22:38So looking at that, we turn to the type of projects that are
- 22:44taking place all over the world that are trying to embody the
- 22:52new paradigm. We see First of all, let's let's
- 22:58look at what the mental Consciousness is trying to do
- 23:02because it recognizes this problem that we're facing, you
- 23:08look at big Tech projects and they say, well we need, we need
- 23:12energy production, we need Water Production, we're going to drop
- 23:16an enormous power plant of ten billion dollars into the middle
- 23:20of some Village in Africa. And that's going to solve their
- 23:25problem. We're going to put in a borewell
- 23:30project or water supply project with a huge water plant and it's
- 23:37going to cost 5 or 10 billion dollars and that will solve that
- 23:40problem. And what they're not seeing is
- 23:43that these enormous High Tech, High cost projects, do not.
- 23:52Fit into the environment within which they're being placed.
- 23:58And so they find after some years that these projects tend
- 24:02to fail and they don't accomplish what they expected
- 24:07them to accomplish. That is.
- 24:12Essentially, a mental approach to things and it's not
- 24:17sufficient for where we are today and where we need to be.
- 24:22So what a number of people are starting to do, is trying to
- 24:26look at the entirety of the situation.
- 24:30And we come down to the project of Oroville which has some 55 or
- 24:3860 projects going in different fields.
- 24:42In order to begin to apply a new paradigm to many, many different
- 24:48fields of human endeavor. Not that.
- 24:51Any one of them is going to solve the problem of humanity,
- 24:56but that they can begin to integrate.
- 25:01This new comprehensive understanding, into the way we
- 25:05address, the issues were facing. One example, is they have a
- 25:12reforestation project and when they went to do when the normal
- 25:20mental solution to reforestation was Illustrated some years ago
- 25:25in the island of Haiti, they had, they had a big hurricane,
- 25:30they lost a lot of trees, they needed to reforest and the
- 25:36governments of the world decided, okay, we're going to do
- 25:39that and so they took a lot of tree seedlings and they drop
- 25:42them from the sky and they got about a fifteen percent up to
- 25:48Take of surviving seedlings and declared success.
- 25:54It just so happens that the reforestation project that was
- 25:58successful in. Oroville had experimental team
- 26:04in Haiti, And they did their method of reforestation with
- 26:09something on the order of an 80% success or five times the
- 26:14success rate of trees, surviving and thriving, to the normal
- 26:22process used by the mental Consciousness.
- 26:26How did they do it? What they did when they started
- 26:31in Oroville, which was a denuded plane of eroded land.
- 26:38The first thing they did was they said well what is the
- 26:41natural flora and fauna in this area of India?
- 26:50And so they went and sent teams around to study local areas of
- 26:55forest to see what type of plants grew their what the trees
- 27:02were what the understory was, what the symbiotic
- 27:07relationships. Were between the plants in a
- 27:10successful thriving Forest Area in that part of the world.
- 27:15After doing that, they begin to bring in the right type of
- 27:21trees. The right type of supporting
- 27:24plants. And if you look at Oroville
- 27:27today, it's amazing. I mean, it's like a an amazing
- 27:33forested area that is Rich and Lush and Beyond what they
- 27:40brought in from the natural surroundings, the other plants
- 27:46and the fauna the animals, the insect etcetera that belong in
- 27:51that type of area, that type of forested area basically joined
- 28:01of Their Own, To create a diverse Rich, natural thriving,
- 28:09forested environment, that is salvaging that eroded land and
- 28:16turning it into what you might call A Tropical Paradise.
- 28:23So, the difference of the two approaches in my mind,
- 28:27represents the difference between the mental linear
- 28:32blinkered approach and a more holistic approach that looks at
- 28:39the entirety of the picture, the complete relationship of
- 28:45Oneness, of all the beings that together make an Eco sphere.
- 28:54In Oroville, they're doing research on a number of areas,
- 28:57not just reforestation, but in things like architecture, the
- 29:04Western Approach to Global Warming is what crank up the air
- 29:09conditioning. And of course, cranking up the
- 29:12air-conditioning, simply makes it worse, you feel better,
- 29:16short-term. But you're using more
- 29:19hydrocarbons and you're putting more global warming into the
- 29:23atmosphere by doing it. So you haven't solved the
- 29:28problem, you put a Band-Aid over a symptom and you feel good
- 29:33about it. The approach in Oroville is, is
- 29:37tremendously different. They look at it and say, well,
- 29:41If we could design buildings that do not need as much energy
- 29:50for heating or Cooling. That could use natural materials
- 29:57and natural design elements in order to optimize human Comfort.
- 30:03Without the input of extraneous energy, we could help to keep
- 30:11people more comfortable and at the same time, not further,
- 30:16contribute to climate change and global warming.
- 30:19And so they've done a number of these types of experiments with
- 30:22architecture. And they found, they can use
- 30:26less air conditioning. Another experiment is to use
- 30:33hemp to make hempcrete bricks now, hempcrete is much more
- 30:43environmentally friendly than using concrete.
- 30:47The Western approach World Approach.
- 30:49At this point is to use concrete, which is one of the
- 30:53most intensive. Water and energy usage
- 30:59Industries in the world. Hempcrete on the contrary is
- 31:05much more energy friendly and it has better survivability it's
- 31:13stronger. It's also got a better index for
- 31:19how it moderate sand insulates energy.
- 31:23So it's a better Building Material, it's more durable and
- 31:28it costs a lot less in terms of loss of water.
- 31:32An energy, so it's a better solution and so they're
- 31:36experimenting with that. I understand they're starting to
- 31:41work with the concept of 3D printing of buildings and if
- 31:47they develop that and that's just in its infancy right now,
- 31:52you take the hempcrete and you take 3D printing and you can
- 31:56begin to design buildings using these new architectural.
- 32:02Apps, that will be truly revolutionary and uplifting.
- 32:08So this is a direction that we see there.
- 32:12The other thing, they're looking at for instances with the
- 32:16collapse of the ocean, fisheries there's a billion or more people
- 32:20who are going to be starving on this planet.
- 32:23And they're not going to like that.
- 32:24They're going to fight for their survival, they're going to
- 32:28migrate and this is happening right now, we're overfishing the
- 32:34oceans at a tremendous rate. And we're getting these huge
- 32:38trawling Nets out there and just scooping up everything in the
- 32:42ocean. So in addition, to climate
- 32:45change, destroying the food chain, and the incubation
- 32:50through the coral, reefs, we're scooping up everything, that's
- 32:54mature, and less mature in the entire ocean food chain.
- 33:02And basically denuding the oceans of the fish.
- 33:05Well I'm a vegetarian that doesn't affect me, I'm actually
- 33:09a vegan. So personally I don't eat fish
- 33:13but there are a billion people on the planet, who do it's going
- 33:15to affect things. And this isn't going to get
- 33:20solved unless we change that. Well, how do we change that?
- 33:24We need to find alternative food sources and protein sources.
- 33:29So in Oroville, they're working on the The idea of developing
- 33:34algae-based foods and soy based foods that can hopefully be
- 33:43developed as Alternatives. Overtime to help replace the
- 33:50missing food items for a large segment of humanity.
- 33:56You can see a theme here going across each of these projects
- 34:00and there's some 50 plus projects.
- 34:02One of them is called Eco Femme it's basically to help Empower
- 34:08women to play a more direct and equal role in society.
- 34:19Whereas over history, they've had a difficulty both with being
- 34:26the carriers of New Birth and the reproductive cycle and the
- 34:31menstrual cycle. So e Co Pham says, instead of
- 34:35shutting women out there developing Reusable, menstrual
- 34:45pads. That are very low cost and
- 34:48educating women on how to use them in places where they
- 34:52haven't had it, so that they can have much more involvement in
- 34:58their social lives in that Society, then they have when
- 35:04they're basically kept out for 10 days.
- 35:09Or a third of the month. You can say every month in
- 35:13addition to their childbearing period and their child rearing
- 35:17period. So Oroville has so many numerous
- 35:24projects that it's become a beacon for people who are
- 35:30interested in solving the issues.
- 35:33Now let's say there's Oroville has its own issues because just
- 35:38like everywhere in the world, there's human beings living
- 35:42there and the human beings are living primarily in their mental
- 35:49Consciousness and they have different viewpoints about
- 35:51things and so they're also being confronted with the issues of
- 35:58human Unity at a much more intense level because they've
- 36:02got people from many, many different cultures, backgrounds,
- 36:05education's languages, Is religions Etc.
- 36:12All trying to find a way to live together there.
- 36:14And I'm expecting that one of these days.
- 36:17They will do that. But in the meantime they have to
- 36:22face these issues while they work on the larger ecological
- 36:27and environmental and existential issues that we all
- 36:33face as Humanity. One of the things that has come
- 36:38out of this in the last couple years, Oroville International
- 36:42USA, has developed a project called flourish, and it's, you
- 36:47can look it up. It, Avi usa.org forward, slash
- 36:54flourish and that project is there to support the Oroville
- 37:02projects that are doing these various things.
- 37:05And to help them flourish with the idea that they should be
- 37:09reproducible, scalable and sustainable.
- 37:16And so instead of dropping a large water plant or a large
- 37:22electrical plant into a local community where the people
- 37:26aren't prepared for it and aren't able to support it and
- 37:30deal with it, they want to find projects that are low-tech that
- 37:36are suited to a local environment and that the local
- 37:41people can apply themselves. Instead of someone coming in
- 37:46from outside and doing it for them, they want to provide
- 37:51projects and opportunities that people can apply locally and
- 37:59grow with and live with using the methodologies similar to
- 38:04what we spoke about with the reforestation program.
- 38:08There are also programs in Waste Management pollution, and waste
- 38:14management. Management is one of the largest
- 38:19problems we have as Humanity because we do not recognize what
- 38:24we call, the Cradle to grave of the things we produce.
- 38:29And so we put large amounts of plastic material into the oceans
- 38:38and we're creating a huge garbage patch in the oceans,
- 38:42which complicates that problem. Because we have no Solutions the
- 38:47solution we have as mental beings is let's ban plastic
- 38:52straws and I guess that's fine. Let's ban plastic straws, but we
- 38:58haven't got to the root of the problem there.
- 39:01So there's a group at Oroville working on how to deal with
- 39:07Waste Management, really looking at the end products of what we
- 39:11as Humanity are creating in order.
- 39:14To live on the planet, how to make sure that we have a life
- 39:19cycle that incorporates the death of our fixed finished
- 39:25goods. And reincorporate, the Min and
- 39:29that project is called waste. Last each of these steps is
- 39:34looking at one aspect of the larger issues of humanity, so
- 39:42I've become a big fan if you will of that flourish project.
- 39:46And I think it, it's not that, that project alone as a solution
- 39:52or that Oroville alone is the only place where these things
- 39:56are happening. We see rising up all over the
- 40:01world. These ideas and these visions
- 40:07Oroville maybe one concentrated Beacon of experimentation in
- 40:14these directions but in reality, there is one as they are day.
- 40:19Showed on said one, newest Fear One mental atmosphere, that
- 40:25permeates the entire planet. And as Some individuals begin to
- 40:33link to this new paradigm. This new Consciousness.
- 40:40We find that it's popping up everywhere in the world.
- 40:44And whether people recognize and talk about tree aurobindo, or
- 40:49not, or the mother is really not the relevant point.
- 40:55The relevant point is, are people starting to recognize
- 40:59Guys our interdependence with each other and with the world we
- 41:04live in? Are we looking at the Oneness of
- 41:07the universe? Are we recognizing that we need
- 41:10to be living in a harmonious way to our environment and with
- 41:17others? And are they starting to develop
- 41:20solutions that implement this paradigm?
- 41:28In Oroville then becomes one point of light.
- 41:32One example of what's happening and starting to happen all over
- 41:38the world. And that is the sign to me.
- 41:43That the next phase of the evolutionary development of
- 41:50Consciousness is becoming active and is starting to address the
- 41:58imbalances. That our mental Consciousness
- 42:02has inadvertently created, what you may say, are the unintended
- 42:07consequences of the development of mind.
- 42:11Now have to be addressed as the intended Solutions of the super
- 42:17mental consciousness. And so, I think that's basically
- 42:22what I had to say today. I'm sure there are some
- 42:26questions and some discussions. So let's open it up.
- 42:30We have a few minutes left. Thank you.
- 42:36Thank you very much, Santosh. That was absolutely wonderful.
- 42:41Beautiful structure. Do you talk when you outlined
- 42:48the nature of the problem of existence will Crisis and that
- 42:52we as Humanity. Are facing.
- 42:56The cause of the problem, of course, the mental and the
- 43:01solutions and or will, as a case study.
- 43:04So that was absolutely beautiful.
- 43:05Very much in line with what both mother and shervin, do have
- 43:08emphasized, that bind is certainly not the instrument for
- 43:15knowledge, but it can be a wonderful instrument for
- 43:20conveying knowledge. And I think that came out very,
- 43:25very beautifully. Thank you, once again, let's,
- 43:29let's open it up for comments, questions, interactions.
- 43:33And so on so forth. Hi Santosh.
- 43:43This is Mike evil. My Reflections.
- 43:49The the evolution which we have seen.
- 43:51Since the Big Bang has been at least from the perspective of
- 43:56the modern mind, extremely slow that it takes millions and
- 44:00millions of years. For these changes that you have
- 44:02talked about to occur, what's the impetus now or the
- 44:06propulsion? Now to speed that process up?
- 44:11And it will have to be sped up at lightning speeds in order to
- 44:14occur. Well, that's a wonderful
- 44:18question and it's something that SRI aurobindo and the mother
- 44:24have actually addressed and that is that through the conscious
- 44:29participation. Of. the human being, the mental
- 44:36being, we are able to do things that Could not take place at the
- 44:44same speed through the unconscious, slow evolutionary
- 44:51process of nature. Now this is an unproven concept
- 44:56for us and we're either going to survive or die, whether this
- 45:00succeeds or not, but SRI aurobindo and the mother felt
- 45:06that as human beings, wake up and become aware of this and
- 45:12start to consciously, align themselves with the need and the
- 45:18steps to develop a relationship to this new Consciousness that
- 45:24it can take place much more quickly than what we might call
- 45:30evolutionary time that you're speaking about and we'll see.
- 45:35I mean, one of the concepts that that I've always Joy was the
- 45:42idea of the hundredth monkey and that is that at a certain point
- 45:46in time when enough beings of a certain species, learn something
- 45:52that it quickly can promulgate across that entire species.
- 45:57And so we don't need 8 billion. People all to evolve to a new
- 46:04understanding, for that new understanding to become
- 46:07operative. We don't know how How many it
- 46:12takes for that hundredth monkey to operate but under the
- 46:16pressure that we're in right now, I'm hoping that this
- 46:22process will in fact take place relatively quickly.
- 46:28Thank you. I'd like to this is Ricky Polly
- 46:32Cove and on the heels of what my Keeble, just expressed.
- 46:39I've basically had a 41 year career in medicine and have
- 46:45proposed to the women that see me in the clinicians that I
- 46:52teach that there is biological evolution.
- 46:56Which is what Santosh. You've so beautifully.
- 46:59It outlined which is at very slow in a certain sense,
- 47:03randomly selected adaptive capacity for Life Darwin.
- 47:11And then that healthy biologic evolutionary being has this
- 47:18other opportunity which is super mind but that awareness that I
- 47:24think Gregory Bateson expressed you know in the anthropology
- 47:27literature, many, many years Go, that everything is connected
- 47:31everything and so one of the joys I feel presently.
- 47:36As discouraging as the Sciences is that we have a University,
- 47:44California is integral studies. Founded on hard us, choudhary's
- 47:49teachings, Timeless teachings, that in the midst of everything
- 47:54CIA is is in better shape than ever.
- 47:57And so, I'm pretty optimistic that with the kind of wrestling
- 48:04and entropy that we have with our courageous students.
- 48:08That we're, we're sewing the seas in a way, you know, that is
- 48:14in harmony with Oroville but with sort of tentacles that are
- 48:20far-reaching because so many of our students are international
- 48:25as well as zealot Local, you know, us based students to make
- 48:31the world a better place. So I see signs that are actually
- 48:35optimistic in the midst of the Shadows.
- 48:40Well, that's great. You know, a lot of people say
- 48:43that entropy or the dissolution of systems.
- 48:46They're the winding down of energy is inevitable and I
- 48:52actually see it in the opposite way.
- 48:55I see that you have an increasing Mission of
- 48:59Consciousness through time and therefore, we're not in a phase
- 49:05of entropy. We're in a phase of
- 49:09concentration and increase of energy.
- 49:12And if you look at it that way, eventually this next
- 49:17transitional step will be completed and the new
- 49:22Consciousness will take its role in the Universal creation.
- 49:28There's no doubt in My mind. And I think, at least, you know
- 49:34where science meets the ineffable, is, what one might
- 49:40call, Simply the power of prayer, but this higher mind
- 49:44state that actually exerts a force.
- 49:46And that's where I think it's incumbent upon all of us, who
- 49:51hold that wish that Ardent loving light to invest in that.
- 49:57And that again, that don't say that at the end of a continuing,
- 50:00medical education, Education talk.
- 50:01But there's a lot of literature and Medicine published really
- 50:05since the 70s, but it's incredible showing the effect of
- 50:10distance healing on biologic outcomes.
- 50:14So, I we have many examples where it actually affects human
- 50:21feelings in Enlightenment that appears to come from nowhere.
- 50:26Like, I didn't even try that hard and didn't have to have
- 50:29Ayahuasca or LSD. But now I understand I'm at one
- 50:34with everyone. So you know, we have to be in
- 50:36that little bit more assiduously towards China.
- 50:40I think it's we have a few billion people to come on to the
- 50:46party. Thank you, thank you.
- 50:53Thank you, son, touch so much for for your talk.
- 50:57I appreciate it greatly and time.
- 50:59Here you commented earlier how we need a crisis to focus
- 51:06attention and it struck me, of course one eye I see a yin yang
- 51:13you know, on that. But I also can't help feeling
- 51:18that the crisis that we are facing.
- 51:21As a as a society, as a species, be the pandemic, the global
- 51:29warming climate change are all things that are intended to show
- 51:33us that we have to recognize our Oneness that we cannot solve
- 51:40them as an individual Corporation, as an individual
- 51:44Nation at the individual human beings without realizing that.
- 51:50As I Robin say we are not, you know, we as seek appear to be
- 51:54separate leaves but we are in effect one tree and I'm
- 51:59wondering you know global climate change is not just
- 52:02global warming but a global warning as to what we have to do
- 52:07and how we must get together and like your thoughts is Earth,
- 52:13therefore you would agree, I guess would be conscious, that
- 52:17is doing this for the good of humanity that you know.
- 52:21Coronavirus, it's not just a bad thing.
- 52:23When it comes to the long-term picture thousands of years from
- 52:26now, we will have taught Humanity how to work together.
- 52:30Hopefully. Yes.
- 52:33Well it's it's a symptom of the entire complex of pressure that
- 52:41nature is putting on us to change as you're as you're
- 52:43pointing out. And I think that if you Manatee
- 52:49learns how to work together and how to appreciate the Oneness
- 52:55of, not only all people, but all species and the entire
- 53:00environment of the planet. We can live in a world that is
- 53:07harmonious. Beautiful and supportive of
- 53:13life, and development in a very positive way, without creating
- 53:22waste over on one side, in order to have our enjoyment on the
- 53:26other so, I did want to conclude with a short quote, from Sri
- 53:38aurobindo and that is the most vital issue of the age is,
- 53:44whether the future progress of humanity, is to be governed by
- 53:49the modern economic and materialistic mind of the west
- 53:54or by a nobler pragmatism guided uplifted and in And by spiritual
- 54:02culture and knowledge. And that's really our challenge.
- 54:11Hi Santosh, Mike. He began before you go.
- 54:14I like the way you put your your talk together today and as I
- 54:18know you're the editor-in-chief of lotus is there one or two
- 54:22Publications that you have produced in the last several
- 54:25years that I could follow up or others could follow up on as a
- 54:30way to supplement, the content of your talk today.
- 54:36Not directly what we publish at Lotus is primarily the Major
- 54:41writings of Sri aurobindo in the u.s. editions and I do a daily
- 54:47blog and I've been doing that for over 12 years and
- 54:53systematically go Page by Page through SRI aurobindo is Major
- 54:57writings and take up whatever. The topic of the day is that
- 55:02next page. Today's topic actually was
- 55:06something about pain management. And you'd be surprised at how
- 55:12much is in there so you can look up any subject you want on the
- 55:18blog. And there's a search bar, it'll
- 55:22go through 12 years of blog post.
- 55:25I mean thousands of posts and give you the quotes on the
- 55:28locations of any statements that relate to that whether it's
- 55:34super mental or whether it's Evolution or whether it's pain
- 55:37management. But we don't We don't actually
- 55:42have any books that directly address this topic.
- 55:49I've covered the topic a couple of times with a group called
- 55:52self-growth.com and on the Lotus press website, we have to video
- 55:57interviews up there where they interviewed me on the subject.
- 56:01One was the background interview and the other one was the
- 56:04Practical applications interview covered a lot of the same ground
- 56:09as today but In a question and answer format.
- 56:17Thank you. Thank you.
- 56:20Thank you very much Santosh for this wonderful talk and
- 56:24beautiful interaction. And thank you everyone for
- 56:29joining in. I will be reaching out to
- 56:33Santosh more often than not in the future so that we can have
- 56:39him consistently present at the fellowship.
- 56:43These topics are extremely important and I personally feel
- 56:49that both mother and sure Urban though are as relevant today.
- 56:53As they were when they were in their respective bodies and and
- 57:00writing about these stuff, So in fact, I would say that they have
- 57:04become even more relevant you know in particular with respect
- 57:09to how the mind works. You know how the mind needs to
- 57:14be transcended. What happens when my knee Point
- 57:17gets transcended, you know, what are the sources of inspiration
- 57:23that we come in contact with and so on and so forth?
- 57:28At the fellowship, there has been a growing interest in
- 57:32making sure window more and more relevant and contemporary.
- 57:37And that is something that we are emphasizing on, and we are
- 57:42going to emphasize as time progresses.
- 57:45I also wanted to remind us all that Sherman.
- 57:50Those 1/50 birth anniversary is approaching.
- 57:54It is on 15th of August. I'll be giving a talk next
- 57:59Sunday on that topic. So if you have some time, please
- 58:03press some time and, and join us at the fellowship.
- 58:07Thank you once again, and thank you very much so much for your
- 58:11talk and your friend, and for your presentation, Hi.
