- 1:48SPEAKER_02: for having me on today so straight away my question that's popping
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: in my head is how did you end up on this path of wellness and detoxification
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: and everything that you do i'm trying to think about where to start
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: the elevator speech or well you know from a young age a from
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: a young age i was always fascinated about health and well-being you know my mother
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: my brother was reading the new york times when he was four and
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: and i i just my mother would take me to the library every every week and we went
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: through a to z and you know towards the end what i was interested is herbology as
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: a young child and then i actually my mother
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: was a medical transcriptionist and she took me to one
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: of her continuing education classes when i was 13 and it was
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: about trigger point therapy and travail work and i devoured it i still have the book
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: and i started my first took my first massage therapy class when i was 13 and
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: then you know practiced did yoga home practice and then i became a massage therapist
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: and right after that
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: a dear friend of mine brought home a book on ayurveda
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: and i knew this was my thing i knew it so much so that when i first went
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: to see visit my teacher dr vasant lad i i knew that i had to study with him
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: and i had just gotten married in florida and he was in new mexico so i spent
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: a year going back and forth and back and forth and then and then i did the
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: official first year and second year guru kula and so i've always been in the health
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: and well-being so that was my early 20s and and
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: then i i had different healing centers over the years and i don't know if you know
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: that much about ayurveda
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: but it's very all-encompassing ayurvedic medicine is it's like traditional chinese
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: medicine but it's from india and so we feel the
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: the pulses for the organs the systems and the tissues and the health and imbalances
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: and if i'm not face to face with somebody i can hear the tone of their voice
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: and know things about them and know different indications on their face and
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: and help them in that way so it's a very comprehensive
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: ir means life and veda means wisdom so it's the science or wisdom of life
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: and healing and it's been around for five to seven thousand years and so i practiced
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: that and did the rejuvenation and cleansing program for decades and you know
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: for 32 years and as you know i live on kawaii and i also run a day spa here but
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: in 2018
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: kawaii broke a record we had 50 inches of rain in 24 hours which is a big deal
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: and uh it broke the road to where it literally broke the road and it took them about
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: a year and a half to fix
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: so i i couldn't run my day spa i couldn't guests couldn't come
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: in only residents could come and go
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: and then only on a schedule and i locked us in so i i took a bunch of time off
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: but not too much because i'm a little obsessed with helping people and
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: then i codified my i remembered what my vedic astrologer told me
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: and he said make why don't you have an online course and and i it took me a year and
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: a half to make 30 day cleanse challenge to cover all aspects
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: of cleansing emotional cleansing physical cleansing
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: we start with a sugar and gluten cleanse and go through all the different areas
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: of people's lives and i help them to learn about toxins to cleanse them
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: to track our progress as we go through and to prevent those toxins from getting
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: in our bodies in the first place and so for me that which what was a catastrophe
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: and i still process through some of the trauma from that you know
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: when it rains heavily but it was for me and that's one of the things i see
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: for people when we struggle with illness or death
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: or disasters i i think there's this is for me this is for us you know this is
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: for you know my my patients and when we flip it like that
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: we have less resistance to that experience and that's 90 percent of
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: the healing i find hundred percent and i love too that
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: the road collapsing made you collapse those beliefs that were stopping you
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: from doing what you knew was in your chart the whole time
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: or doing what you knew you were feeling pulled to the whole time
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: but also i love the timing of it because you said it was 2018 right because then
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: in 2020 we went into lockdown so it was
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: yeah it was it was ready it was it had to it was perfect timing for those
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: to happen it it was oh my gosh because then so
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: that we opened we reopened my hanalei day spa reopened and then we were and
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: then it we were only open for like three months so then we were closed
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: for another year and a half so i was technically closed my business
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: for three years so then i said okay what am i gonna do now bring it on and
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: then i learned how to do all the tech behind it the marketing the facebook ads
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: the this that that the video and it was actually fun i didn't want
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: to react i understand you just and then you get
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: to this point you're like do i bother or do i do i keep going
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: and sometimes that's life is just has that ability to steer us to where we're meant
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: to be going right it's it allows us
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: sometimes in extreme circumstances but it allows us to find our way to
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: the next best thing that we need to be doing in that moment yeah so true
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: so true it's it goes back to that piece of that life happens for us
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: not not to resist the changes you know we we practice that in hawaii
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: in australia too you know the surfers it's like what do we do we get on that board
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: and we paddle in the way that the wave is going we run you know we work
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: with life theoretically i think that's that one of the highest forms
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: of expression yeah and being in flow right there's this big thing that we talk
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: about being in flow rather than in resistance and
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: if you can surrender to the flow that's taking you along
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: the way it it's less work weirdly like you're still doing inner work or
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: and all those sorts of things but it's just it's it just seems
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: to be easier things just align better and things start to come to you yeah
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: that's true and darcy then from there where did the creating the detoxification and
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: the cleansing protocols and those sort of things so i'm assuming it stemmed
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: from your ayurvedic knowledge and teaching how did that become a bigger factor
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: of your life well i think that it's always been
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: a factor i actually got poisoned twice as a child and
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: one was a was misdiagnosed and given too much medication because i had
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: an allergic reaction and then i realized i was just it was around that time i was 13
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: and i realized doctors don't know everything and i you know i come from a family of
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: a medical background and and i have a medical background
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: an ayurvedic medical background which is a bigger piece so i think it's always been
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: with me about noticing and learning that there are toxins around
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: that same time i heard a news report i'd forgotten about this they said on the radio
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: in florida where i grew up there were a lot of elderly folks and they said if your
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: if your parents or grandparents are getting disoriented in the shower it's probably
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: because they've had too much exposure to too much chlorine in
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: the u.s i don't know what you use in your water there but we use crazy things
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: in our water here like chlorine and fluoride and other same same same same
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: other contaminants i mean why don't they just use ozone or activated carbon
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: or anyway so so i realized oh my gosh we can absorb way more through our skin
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: than we could ever drink in a day of these toxins and so i actually started working
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: with herbal medicines at a really young age to
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: to try to like counteract these things and figure it out different concoctions
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: and combinations of herbs when i was really young for for these things
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: so it's always been with me i think some people might say oh past lives or whatever
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: and but i don't know so when i had all that spaciousness
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: to codify my 30-day cleanse challenge like people
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: come with a symptom and a lot of times there are causative factors right there
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: in their lifestyle that contribute to this same illness and so eliminating and being
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: a little bit of a detective and eliminating those causative factors
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: can nine times out of ten create a big health turnaround for folks yeah and
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: then you become more conscious about all the toxins that you actually consume
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: in your day i know when i started to look into it ditched
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: the makeup brand i was using ditched the under or under the sink under
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: the sink was horrific when you open your eyes to all the chemicals that you can put
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: under there you know perfumes
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: and then i started on the food element
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: and i was like oh my goodness i remember throwing out half my cupboard
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: because i didn't realize how many numbers were contained in things
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: or how many things like that and then i found once i took all of that out i felt
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: so much better that i was also more sensitive to if i was exposed to that because
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: it's almost like it numbs our sensations and numbs our ability to connect
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: with our body and definitely the water i'm so passionate talking about living water
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: and not the tap water because when we when you allow water to work
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: in its natural form without other chemicals and pollutants and everything that's put
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: in it it's truly magical and it can be really healing and restorative but
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: when you have those chemicals added in
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: and i so agree with the chlorine because i remember um we were renting
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: and we got this notification
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: in our letterbox saying don't worry your water's even cleaner now we've just put in
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: a brand new chloralation plant around the corner and i was like oh no and my husband
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: and i were like uh when are we moving like when's our house done to get away
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: from this but i would fill up my son's bath and it would smell like
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: an olympic swimming pool like an indoor swimming pool because the chlorine was
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: so strong
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: and it was amazing how many little humans i was working with at the time and
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: the parents like oh their eczema is really bad i'm like it's the bath water just get
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: a filter for it it's the bath water it's
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: the bath water you know they're like well it can't be
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: the bath water i said no like our our water has chlorine and fluoride in it
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: and fluoride actually doesn't help your teeth it actually is
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: a brain altering substance so you know there's that whole argument
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: about our water being medicated
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: without our permission and things like that as well
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: and the amount of toxins that we're exposed to that they put
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: in i i'm still processing through the the i think i through the anger and
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: the sadness about this
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: because it's almost overwhelming it's almost overwhelming we're exposed
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: to tens of thousands of more contaminants than our parents
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: and grandparents have been exposed to and something as innocent
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: as giving our children our grandchildren
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: a bath could be causing eczema could be causing even lower iq and other things
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: that we can be censored for if we say that
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: that out actually outrages me it really does and i think
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: along with processing our feelings about that the more we're armed with the truth
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: the more we can take action to do those four things those are the four pillars
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: that I realize these are the four pillars of everything that I do with people is
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: to learn about these toxins which is
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: like phd level when we really you were talking it's like the water the air and
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: the different environments that we can be exposed to and all
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: the subtleties there you know so to learn about the different types of toxins and
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: where we get these exposures to cleanse them from the tissues and where they
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: where they live in our bodies and then you know
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: to track our progress is really important to see how we're doing
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: and then to prevent them so preventing them and learning about them go hand in hand
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: so like for instance in the united states a lot of people most people are
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: on hormone replacement birth control pills they're on antidepressants they're
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: on painkillers those are the top four
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: so what happens is they here we say they they go they eliminate into the toilet
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: then that's that goes into a sewage plant and is then treated
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: with more chemicals they can't take out the micro particles of the drugs we're
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: so we're taking drugs through our water and we don't know about it when we're
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: in these big cities so i think it's we either be the filter
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: or we buy the filter so you're you know advocating for these parents and children
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: to filter their water it's brilliant because that helps to reduce our toxic burden
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: if we're not being constantly exposed to those toxins in our water here we have
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: a really great spring a natural spring but we were getting that water for years and
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: then one day i looked very closely at it and i saw there were little things swimming
- 17:20SPEAKER_02: in it
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: so then i did a parasite cleanse and then i said i did a deeper dive
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: and i said okay i need to get a good water filter so i found
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: a nine step water filter for my house i have no affiliation and i won't mention
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: the name if you don't want me to and it even structures it after
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: but i want to say something for the the viewer if you can't if you can't do you know
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: if you can't buy a fancy full house whatever you can bless your water
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: and just simply saying this is my water
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: and electrolytes you can just simply maybe we've all seen
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: the dr emoto work we can just simply say i love you i love you i love you i love you
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: and
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: and you know water is part of nature and it hears us and it changes
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: the structure even when we do something simple like that so
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: if we are traveling you know i went to the airport i just came back from
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: the biohacking conference i told you earlier and i there are times when i've walked
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: miles in an airport to find water and glass and didn't find that so
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: at phoenix sky harbor they didn't have that but
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: at san francisco they had little small bottles of avion in glass so i bought that
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: and and when i went just a note to the viewer i went there i had
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: a smaller mountain valley you know the green bottle and i put electrolytes in it
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: and i went to tsa and i said this is medical water
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: i need this i need this and they let me take it through of course they x-rayed it
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: so i blessed it i blessed yeah so i blessed it and i had some water
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: so i wasn't dehydrated on the plane but there are things that we can do
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: that are low cost for you know people who don't you know have the funds to do these
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: and i just wanted to say that of course even just
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: a simple carbon activated carbon charcoal filter can really help as well you know
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: if you're in a pinch but definitely
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: filter your water that you drink that you bathe that you shower in
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: because we absorb 10 times more through our skin that's a piece that i wanted
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: to share
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: with the viewer is that we consume through our skin in ayurveda we use this
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: if somebody can't eat you know over the years i've had people who are emaciated
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: and had severe digestive issues and so i would bring them through a program
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: where i applied herbalized oils to their skin and other methods
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: to help them get stronger and and of course sweating and you know going through
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: the whole pancha karma program
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: and have seen great results because our we eat everything we put on our skin
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: so think about that when you have that laundry detergent and the fabric softeners
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: with all the chemicals the forever chemicals that interfere
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: with our hormone processes you're living sleeping in your clothes a hundred percent
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: of the time unless
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: you're not walking around naked but that's another story you still sleep
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: on sheets too right so you sleep on sheets yeah that's right and so one of
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: the things we found some years back is a machine that goes
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: into my washing machine it makes ozone water it cleans with ozone which is
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: an extra part of oxygen i love ozone
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: and so that's a simple thing so that people could make a swap out
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: and you're however much you're spending on the machine you'll probably spend
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: on laundry detergent and i use bicarbon vinegar that's what we wash our clothes in
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: and if we want them like if you want to add a bit more smell we put essential oils
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: in as well and we normally do it if we're using the dryer they try and dry the sun
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: so a lot of people i heard this the other day and i feel to share it but when you're
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: dry your clothes on the washing line in
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: the sun it actually creates your your absorbs the sunlight and
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: then your clothes become a shield like a protective shield because it's absorbing
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: the sunlight into the fibers of the clothes so obviously if you're wearing polyester
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: or nylon it's not going to work but if you're wearing cotton or linen
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: or those higher frequency clothing then it becomes a shield but what we do
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: if we put it in the dryer because it's raining and terrible
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: i will put on the little wool dryables i will put oils in it and
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: then our clothes smell amazing and then they get the oils charged through them
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: as well but it would that works for us it's so simple you know
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: and it's really cheap like vinegar like for us i don't know what the metro
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: to imperial conversion is but two liters of vinegar i think is a dollar something
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: or two dollars australia and so it's
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: you know and then the bicarb i buy in bulk and you don't have to use
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: that much use like a capsule if that
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: so yeah it's just these small things even our cleaning products we use eucalyptus
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: oil clove oil and tea tree oil you know and then we put a little bit of each one and
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: then put water in the rest of it and off we go you know so it doesn't have
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: to it actually works out cheaper because
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: when you go shopping you bypass nearly every single aisle
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: that has all this expensive chemicals in it
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: you do you do which is great so you're not breathing it in because
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: when you smell one of the pieces i i saw this in a movie and it named it so well
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: and i actually put this clip in one of my videos and youtube banned it
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: but it was a show called bosch and they were talking about a dead body and
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: a little morbid but the man said you know he put on mask you know or he went away
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: and the guy said oh you're you're being a little bit of a wuss and he said
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: when you smell that the smell is the particulate you're breathing that in
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: so when we smell something like mold or you go through that aisle on the in
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: the grocery store where they have all the strong scented laundry detergent
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: the smell is the particle you're breathing you're taking that in so think about
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: that next time we we smell mold or chemicals we take that in and yeah baking soda is
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: a great source and you know what we clean with is water and vinegar
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: i use that at my my business my business is holistic
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: in all areas hanalei day spa you know we help people with massage
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: and we only use organic coconut oil because we eat what we put
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: on our skin right we only use healthy cleaning products there's no scented things
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: except for some aromatherapy that we use yeah i had to unmute a hundred percent
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: and i guess this is where
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: it doesn't have to be complicated and my my pet height is walking into bathrooms
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: with those automatic air fresheners and you just like i just need to pee
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: and you're like go go go go go go go so funny i have my sister in that i do
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: the same thing i hold my breath you know i train for that now that i think
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: of it i do wim hof breathing almost every day so i could hold my breath for about
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: a minute and a half just so you can use the toilet if you're out in a mall
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: we're armed with these things a little bit of knowledge and wisdom and then okay
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: so let's take that further so you know i encourage i encourage my patients
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: and my clients to communicate in a cooperative way and to disagree on the same side
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: in a cooperative way and maybe write a letter to these big hotel chains
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: or other places that have these fragrances
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: that you know fragrance these synthetic fragrances that we breathe in have chemicals
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: that alter our hormone and gene expression potentially depending on what's in there
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: so it behooves us to speak about that in a common cooperative way i recently i was
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: a guest at this big conference and the hotel i decided to not stay at the hotel
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: because number one you couldn't open a window and number two they spray a fragrance
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: in the lobby and in common areas and i wrote a letter and it's
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: a very like fancy big chain you know and i wrote a letter to them and i talked about
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: the potential health effects negative health effects and i asked them if they knew
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: if they had a white paper on the health effects and well
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: they didn't get back to me of course not because
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: then they're admitting potential liability
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: because there there is no anyone wondering what the white paper is it's like
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: when you have a business you have to have a health and safety protocol and
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: if there's any chemical yeah it was a safety sheet thank you for yeah
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: yeah and if you have to have it for any chemical that you use so for example
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: when i owned my company and we had i was getting audited there's a whole other story
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: but when i was getting audited for this funding
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: that we were accessing they checked all
- 26:40SPEAKER_02: that they actually like okay what chemicals do you use i said we don't use any i
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: said we use vinegar and same it's very similar to you darcy i was like we use
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: that we have essential oils the ones that kids can't drink have the child safety cap
- 26:52SPEAKER_02: on so and we keep them out of reach
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: you know but we had to have all of those things in place so
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: when like they just think that they're putting an air freshener
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: in they're not actually thinking about that i've gone to hotels
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: and my husband has asked for us to move rooms because they cleaned the bathroom with
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: so much bleach we couldn't even breathe so we we have had that as well and then
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: the funny thing is a lot
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: of people don't realize bleach doesn't remove anything it just hides it
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: so bleach is like bleaching your hair
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: if it goes on mold it actually just removes it and
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: then there's actually been all this research to show
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: that there's been massive outbreaks of bacteria and things in hospitals
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: because they started cleaning with bleach and they stopped using things with clove
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: whereas clove removes and kills the mold and there's a whole heap of other things
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: that they've done that's not right but you know that's a whole other thing
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: but these are these things the more conscious you are of them
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: and and you do need to speak up a hundred percent you know you need to speak up
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: and say something because the more you bring it to people's attention the more
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: that they will start to be aware of it and even if it doesn't change
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: the company's policy you've educated the people who are reading your letters
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: or you're educating the people who are you know have to review it or whatever
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: that process might be it's true it's true
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: yeah i think it's really important that we speak up and communicate for our needs
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: for ourselves you know especially as women you know and and educate people
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: about these issues you know years ago i i was visiting my brother in florida
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: and we went to the big health food store the can i say the name
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: or should i not say yeah yeah it's fine we went to the whole foods
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: and uh you know it's supposed to be all healthy well
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: we started looking at all the labels this was four three four years ago all
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: the prepared food had seed oils in in them catherine yeah yeah this is this is
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: the problem we've found too like even products that we used to buy that were okay
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: and used olive oil in it or use coconut oil
- 29:07SPEAKER_02: or i could make it like even avocado oil all of a sudden and now
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: canola oil and if anyone's like what are they talking about just search the impact
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: of soy seed oils on your health and see what comes up
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: because there's fortunately there's more and more things coming up
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: but yeah it makes it really hard to buy things like i just wanted
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: to buy some sun-dried tomatoes to put in with like because i used to use them all
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: the time but they're all like stored in canola oil and i i don't want to put that
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: in my body knowingly i don't want to knowingly put it in my body
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: we don't we don't want to knowingly put those things in our body seeds seed oils
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: a lot of people are getting hip to seed oils now which is great because it's
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: a major driver of inflammation in the body and when we eliminate and this goes back
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: to what i was saying in the beginning a lot of times we have these uh symptoms and
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: then come to find out that the causative factor is in our everyday life
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: like the water for the eczema like the seed oils
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: for you know different inflammatory conditions and so you know stores work on supply
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: and demand if people aren't going to use something and the thing is just going to
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: the product will just sit on the shelf or if people make recommendations
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: to their store owners then you know that can help us so
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: you know we want to be an advocate for our our health and well-being and
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: the community so these are things we need to speak up about recently
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: the restaurant next door i live on kawaii right next door to
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: the hanalei colony resort which is where my the five acre beachfront property
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: where my day spa is and the restaurant changed hands
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: and and i would ask them you know what kind of oils well we use olive oil
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: and we use tallow we also have some seed oil i don't remember what they said
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: but i kept asking about and when i'd order i'd say can i just have it
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: with butter can you cook it with butter and so recently they made
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: an announcement gaia on kawaii
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: that they will they are no longer using seed oils it's all olive oil butter
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: and tallow which we're really happy about so big round of applause for them
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: so it helps to be an advocate for ourselves our family and our community
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: when we do find these things at stores and restaurants
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: so speak up use your god-given power to you know be armed
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: against these things rather than feeling powerless these are things that we could do
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: one of my friends was traveling in indonesia and she just learned the phrase
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: that said i can't have seed oil i want coconut oil instead
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: and they cooked all her food in coconut oil no problems like it was just
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: so it's just being an advocate for yourself i feel more than anything and
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: and learning to speak up when you need to as well and as we start
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: to finish our time together darcy i asked the guests that come on the show
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: if you could heal or change something in the world what would it be it's hard
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: to only pick one thing
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: it would okay i'll i'll raise that i'll see that
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: and raise you it would be awareness it would be awareness of the provider
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: of services and foods you know utilities it would be increasing awareness of
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: the people who are in these positions
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: of controlling what people consume it would be increased awareness
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: and having them be guardians of everybody's health
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: that's a great question i love that thank you and i love your response you managed
