- 1:50Speaker 1: filling out. The staff will go over all the latest
- 1:52Speaker 1: developments there. We'll do our picks for the Super Bowl.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I think I've got a good take on what's going on.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I have a good feel for this game.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Oh I'm excited.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll want to hear my pick.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I gotta be honest, I haven't really given it much
- 2:06Speaker 3: in my reasoning.
- 2:07Speaker 1: In my reasoning, Yeah, so it's duced, it's Paul, it's
- 2:11Speaker 1: Fred Tamara's not here. I don't know where she is.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Evan is sick, Alex I don't know, vacation vacation, so
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's the three of us and Matt.
- 2:22Speaker 4: So three amigoes.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah, but we'll ride three bulls, as someone dubbed us.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I wanted to take some shots at Alex. Yesterday it
- 2:29Speaker 3: was National Women and Girls in Sports Day and she's
- 2:34Speaker 3: tweeting about it and I'm like, oh, so joy day.
- 2:37Speaker 3: So you just don't have to come to work. But
- 2:39Speaker 3: I wanted to make sure that like wasn't something serious.
- 2:42Speaker 3: You know, like every time you do something like that,
- 2:44Speaker 3: it's like, you know, someone's dressed up. Oh you know,
- 2:46Speaker 3: did you get the job? Oh no, I just came
- 2:48Speaker 3: from a funeral.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Well that was That was chrispher a couple of weeks ago.
- 2:51Speaker 6: He came in the office all dressed up and like, oh, Chris,
- 2:53Speaker 6: you look nice. What do you do when I gotta
- 2:54Speaker 6: go awake?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah? Sorry?
- 2:58Speaker 3: So I figured before I know, to comment do appolism
- 3:01Speaker 3: and make myself look sillier than even normal.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So as of late, as late as this morning, I
- 3:09Speaker 1: was hearing names reportedly being signed to the Patriots. Do
- 3:14Speaker 1: you have the latest list? You want to go over that?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Just to kind of update with where we are, and
- 3:19Speaker 1: please note if something's not offend.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I missed one this morning. I need to write this.
- 3:23Speaker 6: Well, I don't know if anything is technically official yet, right,
- 3:27Speaker 6: but the but yeah, yesterday we heard about Alonza high Smith,
- 3:30Speaker 6: who was with Elliott Wolf Darren green Bay had a
- 3:33Speaker 6: great career I had in the NFL. Scott Peters offensive
- 3:38Speaker 6: line coach, was assistant offensive line coach under Bill Callahan
- 3:42Speaker 6: in in Cleveland, and I think we got probably a
- 3:45Speaker 6: new favorite in the clubhouse. If there was like a
- 3:47Speaker 6: coaching fight off, like I think I'd probably go with
- 3:50Speaker 6: the Scott Peters guy.
- 3:51Speaker 3: He played.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Oh, he looks, he looks tough, he looks mmmm, you know,
- 3:57Speaker 4: he said, we know what I'm here. Continue to work
- 4:01Speaker 4: down the list.
- 4:02Speaker 6: So Brian Belichick this morning was was you know reported
- 4:04Speaker 6: that he will be back. I know Mike Reese speculated
- 4:07Speaker 6: that that Brian would be back, along with with Mike
- 4:09Speaker 6: Pellegren or cornerbacks. I haven't seen an official or nothing official,
- 4:12Speaker 6: but no no direct report on Pelgrene, no other than
- 4:15Speaker 6: than Mike Reese's mentioning him.
- 4:18Speaker 4: And then I guess just I think those are the
- 4:20Speaker 4: main ones. I don't know if I miss guy, I
- 4:24Speaker 4: mean T. C. McCartney. Oh yeah, so he's quarterback. He's
- 4:27Speaker 4: going to be the quarterbacks coach. He was the tight
- 4:29Speaker 4: ends coach for the Browns.
- 4:30Speaker 3: So I think that kind of we talked about McAdoo
- 4:33Speaker 3: on Tuesday.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That can do.
- 4:35Speaker 3: But yeah, most of this okay. So the one thing
- 4:38Speaker 3: that I think may have been a little bit different yesterdays,
- 4:41Speaker 3: not anybody knew, but the reports are now indicating definitively
- 4:46Speaker 3: what we've been talking about with two or three weeks now.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Elliott Wolfe has seemingly rested at the top of the
- 4:54Speaker 3: personnel chain. So if you want to call him general manager,
- 4:58Speaker 3: and I know that they're very big, somehow they haven't
- 5:01Speaker 3: had a general manager. Elliot wolf is your general manager.
- 5:04Speaker 3: According to Ian Rappaport. And if you look at all
- 5:09Speaker 3: the moves Fred, the vast majority of these coaching hires
- 5:15Speaker 3: have at least touched Elliott wolf in Green Bay, in
- 5:18Speaker 3: some cases in Cleveland or a Wolf high Smith.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And Alex Van pell.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Jerry Montgomery, you know obviously the guys from Cleveland with
- 5:29Speaker 3: Van Pelton, McCartney. So these guys were, you know, when
- 5:33Speaker 3: Wolfe was in Cleveland. Some of them were with Wolf
- 5:35Speaker 3: in Green Bay. That seems to be the direction that
- 5:38Speaker 3: they're going.
- 5:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I I like Count high Smith.
- 5:43Speaker 6: I thought was you know, an interesting addition just to
- 5:46Speaker 6: get you know, continue to round out the the front
- 5:49Speaker 6: office staff and to bring some new blood into there,
- 5:52Speaker 6: you know, I mean, just sticking with the defense. I mean,
- 5:55Speaker 6: I like what I like the continuity that they're bringing back,
- 5:57Speaker 6: and I like that they're bringing back Brian Belichick Pelgreno
- 6:00Speaker 6: because I think, you know, I didn't want a ton
- 6:02Speaker 6: of turnover on the defensive side of the ball.
- 6:04Speaker 1: When you look at last year and you know, let's
- 6:07Speaker 1: face it, the talent, you know, especially once Gonzales you know,
- 6:12Speaker 1: was out and Jonathan Jones battling with injuries. You know,
- 6:15Speaker 1: for some of the season, I think they did a
- 6:17Speaker 1: pretty good job mixing and matching and scheming it up
- 6:21Speaker 1: and competing in games.
- 6:23Speaker 5: You know.
- 6:23Speaker 6: It wasn't a disaster you know back there, No, no,
- 6:27Speaker 6: I mean, and they you know, they maintained their veteran
- 6:29Speaker 6: veterans in the front you know, and it's just guys
- 6:31Speaker 6: like Godshaw, Bentley guy, I mean, wise, those guys aren't
- 6:34Speaker 6: going to be you know, they were never going to
- 6:36Speaker 6: be full the tents and go home kind of guys.
- 6:38Speaker 6: But you know, just in looking at you know, free
- 6:40Speaker 6: agency and all that that stuff, it's you know, it's
- 6:43Speaker 6: such a hard thing. And I never heard Felgrimaz yesterday
- 6:45Speaker 6: talking a little bit about twenty twenty one, where you know,
- 6:47Speaker 6: it's hard. You got a bunch of money to spend,
- 6:49Speaker 6: but there aren't really those superstar kind of players that
- 6:51Speaker 6: you ideally would want to spend that money on.
- 6:53Speaker 4: They had to kind of go with, you know, John
- 6:55Speaker 4: neu Smith's of the world.
- 6:57Speaker 6: But you know, just in terms of looking at, you know,
- 6:59Speaker 6: some of the options at edge and on defense, Like
- 7:02Speaker 6: I know, it's not a big need and everybody wants
- 7:03Speaker 6: to talk offense and quarterback and rightly so, but I
- 7:06Speaker 6: think that that's maybe an area in free agency that
- 7:09Speaker 6: they could maybe try to make a little bit of
- 7:11Speaker 6: a splash and you know, just take some of the
- 7:13Speaker 6: weight off of Judean, you know, not make him such
- 7:16Speaker 6: this vital piece that he you know, he's our only
- 7:18Speaker 6: guy who can can really win off the edge one
- 7:20Speaker 6: on one, and let's face it, he's you know, thirty one,
- 7:22Speaker 6: thirty two. I mean, those days are limited, so well,
- 7:25Speaker 6: it's you.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Know, it's interesting. It's like almost a philosophy. You could
- 7:28Speaker 1: go at focus on building the offense for the future
- 7:32Speaker 1: and building the defense for now.
- 7:35Speaker 6: Yeah you know what I mean, Yeah, I think so.
- 7:36Speaker 6: And you know, we said it on the show last week.
- 7:38Speaker 6: All the defensive line basically everybody's up. And I mean
- 7:40Speaker 6: I'm saying right now, Christian Barmore would be my number
- 7:43Speaker 6: one priority. No disrespect on when you dugger ouch any
- 7:46Speaker 6: of those guys, but I would I would make him
- 7:48Speaker 6: the priority this offseason to lock him up and you know,
- 7:51Speaker 6: at least get one piece beyond this season.
- 7:53Speaker 4: But uh, you know, nobody really wants to talk about
- 7:56Speaker 4: the defense or free agency. Everybody wants to talk about
- 7:58Speaker 4: the offense.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that's the big escaping hole. But you
- 8:01Speaker 1: do have to, you know, you can't let what you know,
- 8:04Speaker 1: the defense slide. You have to at least be as
- 8:07Speaker 1: good as you were last year, if not better.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, yeah, And I don't know, I just
- 8:13Speaker 4: I'm just kind of torn.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Uh, you have to be better.
- 8:15Speaker 6: I'm kind of torn on the offensive side of the
- 8:17Speaker 6: ball because on one hand, you know, we live through
- 8:20Speaker 6: twenty twenty two here with Matt Patrician and Joe Judge.
- 8:22Speaker 6: It's like, I don't I don't know how I could
- 8:24Speaker 6: look at any staff the same way I look at
- 8:27Speaker 6: that staff where just it was, you know, I get
- 8:29Speaker 6: everybody's kind of underwhelmed by cast offs, guys who you know,
- 8:34Speaker 6: haven't really done it yet. And I think that's what
- 8:37Speaker 6: we're kind of trying to work through right now. And
- 8:39Speaker 6: it's you know, there's a lot of connections though. That's
- 8:41Speaker 6: like the thing that I just you know, there there
- 8:43Speaker 6: are some connections to Shanahan, there's connections to I don't
- 8:46Speaker 6: know what the West Coast offense. There's a lot of
- 8:48Speaker 6: connections to a lot of different things. I don't know
- 8:50Speaker 6: what it's exactly going.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Unless you're like I don't know, I guess I unless
- 8:55Speaker 1: you're pulling guys, you know, from a lower position and
- 8:59Speaker 1: giving the you know, you know, a higher ranking position
- 9:04Speaker 1: here guys that are available or cast offs. They're guys
- 9:08Speaker 1: who you know are available, you know. So I think
- 9:12Speaker 1: they've done a pretty good job identifying guys who look
- 9:16Speaker 1: like they might be able to work together, you know,
- 9:19Speaker 1: and get on the same page.
- 9:20Speaker 3: And you know, so they got three guys that were
- 9:24Speaker 3: on the same staff, yeah, Van Pell, Peters and McCartney.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And as well as having experience in various places. You know,
- 9:33Speaker 1: it's not like they were only at one place and
- 9:36Speaker 1: that's it, you know. So I like them, you know,
- 9:39Speaker 1: varied experience, bringing it all together, yet also knowing each other.
- 9:44Speaker 1: You know, you need that, especially with you're just starting
- 9:47Speaker 1: from scratch really with a new head coach. You just
- 9:51Speaker 1: want everybody to be on the same page, at least
- 9:53Speaker 1: for this season.
- 9:54Speaker 5: You know.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I like the way you guys talk about it because
- 9:57Speaker 3: I think it's so easy to say, well.
- 9:59Speaker 1: What do they do?
- 10:00Speaker 3: Like what you know, what, what does that guy do?
- 10:02Speaker 3: What has he done? And let's face it, I can't
- 10:06Speaker 3: tell you the kind of job that Will Long did
- 10:09Speaker 3: last year. He was the Patriots tight ends coach. I
- 10:12Speaker 3: can't tell you that. You're trying to tell me that
- 10:14Speaker 3: these people that are pining about Scott Peters know how
- 10:18Speaker 3: the assistant offensive line coach in Cleveland did last year, right, Like,
- 10:21Speaker 3: So anybody's telling you this is a great hire, or
- 10:24Speaker 3: anybody's telling you this is a terrible hire.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Is they don't know full of it? You really don't know.
- 10:27Speaker 3: And other than like foot like inside football, people. That's
- 10:30Speaker 3: not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about media people
- 10:32Speaker 3: like us.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and it don't we don't know.
- 10:34Speaker 4: And all we generally do is we look at their
- 10:36Speaker 4: position group and you know where they you know.
- 10:38Speaker 6: And I think David Nijoku is an example of a
- 10:40Speaker 6: guy with a really good year last year.
- 10:41Speaker 4: So that's a little bit of a you know, a positive.
- 10:43Speaker 3: That's you know, that's how Freddy Cochy after the coaching
- 10:46Speaker 3: staff way back in the day.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Yeah, and uh, And I would just say, you know,
- 10:49Speaker 6: I think there's a lot to like to go about
- 10:50Speaker 6: a guy named like Scott Peters who I mean, I
- 10:52Speaker 6: think everybody is universally enamored of the job Bill Callahan
- 10:56Speaker 6: does with offensive lines. And you know, when you are
- 10:58Speaker 6: starting over on the offensive line and it's it's all right, well,
- 11:01Speaker 6: this guy is trained under the best. I mean, I
- 11:02Speaker 6: think I definitely have a lot of respect for what
- 11:05Speaker 6: Cleveland's offensive line did. So you know, it's just one
- 11:08Speaker 6: hand you kind of stomp and kick that you're underwhelmed.
- 11:10Speaker 6: But at the same time, it's like, this is what happens.
- 11:12Speaker 6: Like when your team gets blown up, somebody's gonna come,
- 11:15Speaker 6: They're gonna bring guys that they know, and I mean,
- 11:17Speaker 6: how many times had the Patriots done that?
- 11:19Speaker 4: Oh, that's Patriots West. I mean, that's what happened to us.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Right now we're Green Bay here, they take people with them.
- 11:25Speaker 1: It's the same thing. There's it's just comfort level. At
- 11:28Speaker 1: the same time, Elliott Wolf's not going to be bringing
- 11:31Speaker 1: people that he knows of that stunk, because now it's
- 11:34Speaker 1: kind of is if this works out, Elliott Wolf is
- 11:38Speaker 1: going to be like, we're gonna be giving him his flowers. Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 1: if you.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Will, well he could be the young young maam who
- 11:45Speaker 6: is you know really, so there's a lot at steak
- 11:47Speaker 6: for him to get this right. Do you think there's
- 11:50Speaker 6: a chance that there's some kind of promotion or something
- 11:53Speaker 6: after the draft, Like is this all kind of in place,
- 11:55Speaker 6: and that after the draft then we're going to kind
- 11:57Speaker 6: of announce the power structure of the personnel department.
- 12:01Speaker 3: It may even be before that, but yeah, I do
- 12:04Speaker 3: think there'll be a change. The offensive line thing is
- 12:07Speaker 3: the thing I like the best out of all of
- 12:09Speaker 3: the things that they've done, and one of the reasons
- 12:11Speaker 3: is something Fred said last week, you know about looking
- 12:15Speaker 3: for the offensive line coach my fear was they weren't,
- 12:19Speaker 3: and Fred was right, and I feel the best about that,
- 12:23Speaker 3: not you being right, he'll kick your but the like,
- 12:27Speaker 3: I just felt like all the guys that were under contract,
- 12:30Speaker 3: Like I do not like the other stuff on defense,
- 12:32Speaker 3: and we'll get to that later, but I just felt
- 12:36Speaker 3: like everybody that was under contract was going to be
- 12:38Speaker 3: welcomed back and didn't matter. You know that the offensive
- 12:40Speaker 3: line had no answers last year. Okay, so I like
- 12:43Speaker 3: the f This is no disrespect to Adrian klem but
- 12:46Speaker 3: I just I do feel like this benefit in getting
- 12:48Speaker 3: someone from the outside. And the reason why I like
- 12:51Speaker 3: this higher is what you guys just talked about. Worked
- 12:53Speaker 3: under Bill Callahan, who was widely regarded as the best
- 12:56Speaker 3: in the business. Okay, so you get a guy that
- 13:00Speaker 3: tutored under him and lost all of their offensive linemen,
- 13:05Speaker 3: which is one of the real strengths of that Cleveland team.
- 13:07Speaker 3: They all got hurt and it didn't matter. They continue
- 13:11Speaker 3: to play pretty well. Now, was it the same, No,
- 13:13Speaker 3: there's a drop off when you have backups in there,
- 13:15Speaker 3: but it wasn't what the Patriots went through with their starters.
- 13:19Speaker 3: So I have some confidence. Like Fred was right in
- 13:23Speaker 3: saying that they needed an offensive line coach. I like
- 13:27Speaker 3: this guy's profile better than Andy Dickerson's, who supposedly they
- 13:31Speaker 3: were interested. And then we know Andy from he spent
- 13:33Speaker 3: some time here way back in the day. This guy,
- 13:37Speaker 3: I like the fact that he worked under Callahan. So
- 13:39Speaker 3: that's the thing I like the best out of this.
- 13:42Speaker 3: They needed to find some new blood.
- 13:44Speaker 1: And when it comes to the modern athlete and wanting
- 13:48Speaker 1: to know why, these guys are going to be able
- 13:51Speaker 1: to give them wise. They've got experience, you know, where
- 13:56Speaker 1: they're going to be able to say, here's why I'm
- 13:58Speaker 1: teaching you it this way, Here's why I want you
- 14:01Speaker 1: to do this, you know, and they'll be able to
- 14:03Speaker 1: back up with experience, Like you know, I had this
- 14:06Speaker 1: guy and he did it and it worked.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I do have one minor concern on Peters because you
- 14:12Speaker 3: know me, I can't just be happy tube jacked. I
- 14:14Speaker 3: can't just be happy. No, Why did in Cleveland keep him?
- 14:17Speaker 3: That's that's my you know, Like they lost their line coach.
- 14:19Speaker 3: They had the assistant there. Why didn't they promote him?
- 14:22Speaker 3: Was you know, well, listen, I don't I think maybe
- 14:26Speaker 3: we would, maybe they maybe they wanted to keep I
- 14:28Speaker 3: know it will convinced him to come here.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I think there must be a certain amount of infighting
- 14:33Speaker 1: over in Cleveland because you know, with Deshaun Watson and
- 14:36Speaker 1: all that stuff, there must be varying opinions about what
- 14:39Speaker 1: we need to do. And you know, some guy's probably
- 14:43Speaker 1: won and some guy's probably lost.
- 14:45Speaker 6: But I mean, I think, you know, to Paul's point
- 14:47Speaker 6: that the pedigree thing when you when you are rebuilding
- 14:49Speaker 6: like this, like these are the kind of guys that
- 14:50Speaker 6: you want to give opportunities to. And you know, we
- 14:53Speaker 6: talked a lot about how you know, maybe Bill had
- 14:55Speaker 6: a soft spot for giving guy a chance. But you know,
- 14:59Speaker 6: I just I think about Alex van Pelt. He's been
- 15:03Speaker 6: waiting for this opportunity, right, like, I mean, this is
- 15:05Speaker 6: like like this is it's it's evaded him. He's got
- 15:08Speaker 6: a humongous chance, you know, opportunity guy in his forties.
- 15:11Speaker 6: But even a younger guy like Scott Peters. You know,
- 15:13Speaker 6: this is if you'd have to be so worried about
- 15:16Speaker 6: I mean, look, it's either gonna work or it's not
- 15:18Speaker 6: gonna work, and they'll be out, you know, so that
- 15:21Speaker 6: I like, at least how they're kind of beating the
- 15:23Speaker 6: bushes trying, you know, like we don't have Dante Scarneki
- 15:25Speaker 6: and you need to find another guy who's going to
- 15:28Speaker 6: come in here.
- 15:28Speaker 4: I said, I think it's critical.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I really think it's critical because I do believe that
- 15:34Speaker 1: if you have a really well coached offensive line, you
- 15:38Speaker 1: don't necessarily need everybody to be first round draft picks.
- 15:42Speaker 1: If they're cohesive, if they communicate, well, they're on the
- 15:46Speaker 1: same page, their technique is well coached, you don't have
- 15:51Speaker 1: to everybody doesn't have to be Tyrone Smith.
- 15:53Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, but they just I mean, I would
- 15:55Speaker 6: say they they they have such a need right now
- 15:57Speaker 6: that it's like, I just hope they're gonna give Scott
- 16:00Speaker 6: Peter's a bunch of things to work with.
- 16:01Speaker 5: You know.
- 16:01Speaker 4: It's like they felt last year when we got out there,
- 16:03Speaker 4: It's like they're already shorthanded.
- 16:05Speaker 6: And then you know, Trent Brown was in and out
- 16:07Speaker 6: cold strange got hurt like three minutes into putting pads on.
- 16:10Speaker 6: You know, you instantly kind of felt that that's the
- 16:12Speaker 6: biggest thing is just how do you build up so
- 16:14Speaker 6: that you at least have competition, even if, like you said,
- 16:17Speaker 6: you don't have those super talented guys. But again, like
- 16:20Speaker 6: you know, quarterbacks, coach, offensive line, like, these are the
- 16:22Speaker 6: top positions in the draft. These guys, you know, are
- 16:25Speaker 6: gonna get probably at least some kind of say in
- 16:27Speaker 6: who they like or what kind of guys they.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Want to work with, because those are the positions that
- 16:31Speaker 4: they need to The.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Wolf of Washington Street? Is that hard at work?
- 16:34Speaker 4: What was Washington Street?
- 16:35Speaker 1: I think that's the name for Route one. Oh, we
- 16:39Speaker 1: work on Washington Street. You didn't know that that's the
- 16:41Speaker 1: name of the street that we work right over.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I thought it was Route one.
- 16:44Speaker 1: No, it's it's wasn't a Patriot place, it's what?
- 16:47Speaker 3: No, it is Washington Street. Yeah, so's a long way
- 16:51Speaker 3: to Grandma's house.
- 16:52Speaker 1: But I thought it was pretty direct. I got I
- 16:55Speaker 1: got his.
- 16:56Speaker 4: You go left on Washington Street?
- 16:57Speaker 1: What route want?
- 16:58Speaker 4: Washington Street?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Well, that's every root really has a name. This is
- 17:01Speaker 1: Washington Street, all right?
- 17:03Speaker 4: Something every day I live.
- 17:05Speaker 1: You live in Sharon.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I don't even know Providence Highway to something like that.
- 17:10Speaker 4: You're really going to confuse everything.
- 17:12Speaker 1: That figure you live in Sharon, which is like it
- 17:15Speaker 1: abuts I never like, look at it, it abuts the highway.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Look at.
- 17:22Speaker 3: He So we did get Mike, and I did get
- 17:24Speaker 3: a chance, very briefly to meet the new beasts, Alex
- 17:28Speaker 3: van Pelt and Jerry Springer.
- 17:30Speaker 1: You guys sat down with him, Yeah, I did not
- 17:32Speaker 1: sit down with them. Well you were in the room.
- 17:34Speaker 4: We're in the room. Yeah, we listened.
- 17:35Speaker 6: But uh, but you know, to to your point, I
- 17:38Speaker 6: think a lot of you know, both the guys though,
- 17:41Speaker 6: you know what's most important people relationships. I mean, and look,
- 17:44Speaker 6: it's coach speak. I think every you know, everybody's gonna
- 17:46Speaker 6: say some version of that. But definitely Springer seems young.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Mike, He's got that energy, Mike, Mike.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 3: It's like.
- 17:58Speaker 4: But another guy who you know was in a assistant
- 18:00Speaker 4: and you know we can is it is that.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Like a requirement for Special Teams coach to be like
- 18:04Speaker 1: out of your head.
- 18:05Speaker 6: That's what I came out of it, And I think
- 18:07Speaker 6: it was kind of exactly what I was trying to
- 18:08Speaker 6: sell to stay to Paul. I'm like, you know, it's
- 18:10Speaker 6: it's the same kind of vibe that you used to get.
- 18:12Speaker 6: I mean, I wasn't here for what the old guy
- 18:14Speaker 6: Billy what's his name, who was the old Special Teams
- 18:16Speaker 6: quarter scottio I don't know what he was like, but
- 18:19Speaker 6: just from my experience with Cam a Cord, who's just
- 18:22Speaker 6: like always seems.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Like he's totally caffeinated. And yeah, we're gonna go out
- 18:25Speaker 4: there and we got to.
- 18:25Speaker 3: You know, talk about Scott O'Brien. We're not like, no, no, no,
- 18:29Speaker 3: neither one of them.
- 18:30Speaker 1: It the new Remember that the old Cowboys went Joe
- 18:33Speaker 1: a visa viso Afazzano. Yeah, I mean he was wild
- 18:36Speaker 1: on the sideline. I love fred special type.
- 18:39Speaker 6: You gotta you gotta bring the energy and uh but
- 18:42Speaker 6: no they you know, they're both guys, like I said,
- 18:44Speaker 6: getting a chance, and I mean it's an opportunity for
- 18:46Speaker 6: them to to try to do it. I'm I'm just
- 18:48Speaker 6: interested in you know, it's I kind of dug into
- 18:50Speaker 6: these guys. I think did a show send you that
- 18:52Speaker 6: TC McCartney story. That's TC McCartney, the quarterbacks coach. Got
- 18:55Speaker 6: just an absolute crazy story. I won't go into it now,
- 18:58Speaker 6: but that is wild, but you can.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Google it it just like it's a pretty common story.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Paul knew it already I started.
- 19:04Speaker 3: No one sent it to me because you know, I
- 19:07Speaker 3: work downstairs now, so I'm on the pay no mind list.
- 19:10Speaker 3: But that was huge in the early early nineties when
- 19:14Speaker 3: Colorado was at the top of the college football chain.
- 19:17Speaker 3: They won a national title around that time. That was
- 19:19Speaker 3: a huge story with those VALANESSI was a big deal.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Yeah, that's so, that's uh, that's his dad. He's crazy.
- 19:26Speaker 4: But you know, just getting to know these guys and uh,
- 19:29Speaker 4: you know, we'll see we'll see a lot of young
- 19:30Speaker 4: guys and and and this is it.
- 19:32Speaker 6: So you know, he he spent some time though, TC
- 19:35Speaker 6: did under Shanahan, So you know, it's just there's a
- 19:38Speaker 6: lot of little roots going to different kind of West
- 19:42Speaker 6: Coast offense.
- 19:42Speaker 1: And I like that Mayo is not afraid to hire
- 19:46Speaker 1: people who have a lot more experience than he does.
- 19:50Speaker 5: You know.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Now that's not saying much because he doesn't have a
- 19:53Speaker 1: lot of coaching experience, but you care these people.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Well, but I got the Wolf of Washington Street doing
- 19:59Speaker 3: all this time.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But I'm sure that he has input, right, you know,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and I'm not. It's you know, to be a leader,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you need to hire people who will tell you what
- 20:09Speaker 1: to do. You know, you want to hire people who
- 20:11Speaker 1: are smarter than you in a lot of areas. You know,
- 20:15Speaker 1: if you're afraid to do that, then you can't lead.
- 20:18Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, I mean it's one of the biggest
- 20:20Speaker 6: questions we had going into this season was, you know,
- 20:22Speaker 6: what kind of input is jirob Mayo going to have
- 20:24Speaker 6: on offense?
- 20:25Speaker 4: What kind of visions does he have? Is he going
- 20:26Speaker 4: to want to just kind of set it and forget it?
- 20:28Speaker 6: And you know, there was a time I think when
- 20:29Speaker 6: we thought he would just kind of be like Josh,
- 20:31Speaker 6: you know, hire Josh McDaniels and be like, go do
- 20:34Speaker 6: something with it.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You know.
- 20:35Speaker 4: I it's a great question.
- 20:36Speaker 6: I mean, I think it's one of the ones that
- 20:38Speaker 6: needs to probably be asked to draw whenever he's up again.
- 20:40Speaker 6: It's just, you know, what is your involvement with the offense, Like,
- 20:42Speaker 6: you know, what's kind of your you know, your vision,
- 20:44Speaker 6: what's your mandate to those coaches?
- 20:46Speaker 1: At the very least my points?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yeah, score points.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I don't care how you doing. Score point period.
- 20:50Speaker 4: That's all I care about. But you know what, what
- 20:53Speaker 4: what's he looking for?
- 20:54Speaker 6: What kind of you know, are there players already on
- 20:56Speaker 6: the roster that he kind of gravitates towards or away from? Maybe,
- 21:00Speaker 6: But I know that there's been a lot of discussion
- 21:01Speaker 6: just about Cleveland. Their run game was something that Alex
- 21:05Speaker 6: Van Pelt brought up in the interview. So you know,
- 21:07Speaker 6: Paul brought it up right after the interview. He said,
- 21:10Speaker 6: you got one running back on the roster right now.
- 21:12Speaker 6: Who's who's banged up?
- 21:13Speaker 5: Right?
- 21:13Speaker 6: He's coming off a major injury. So you know that's
- 21:16Speaker 6: another position too. As I've been, you know, doing the
- 21:18Speaker 6: draft stuff, it's like running backs of priority, running backs
- 21:21Speaker 6: of priority.
- 21:22Speaker 1: It is, everything's a priority an offense. But I was
- 21:25Speaker 1: listening to Catch twenty two a little bit with Alex
- 21:28Speaker 1: and Heaven and they were talking about, you know, the
- 21:30Speaker 1: draft and quarterbacks, and you know, which quarterback is going
- 21:32Speaker 1: to be best suited for the Patriots offense. We don't
- 21:35Speaker 1: have an offense yet, Okay, so how about what offense
- 21:40Speaker 1: is going to be best suited for the quarterback? Yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you know, instead of the other way around.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that they're they're assuming that they're going
- 21:47Speaker 3: to run something along the lines of what they would
- 21:50Speaker 3: have been.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Pelt, Well, I think that I think that that's a
- 21:53Speaker 1: dangerous assumption. I think I think you taylor around your personnel,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you know, force fee it.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I mean, you know, not to it was probably you know,
- 22:02Speaker 4: it's a little bit more coach speak, but they did
- 22:04Speaker 4: ask them that in the interview, not to give everything away,
- 22:06Speaker 4: but it was it was that tailoring, tailoring it to
- 22:09Speaker 4: your players. And you know, if you try to just
- 22:11Speaker 4: put players into your scheme.
- 22:12Speaker 3: You have but you have a system, like, you can't
- 22:14Speaker 3: just change your system.
- 22:16Speaker 1: You can tailor it.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Like the only way you would do that is if
- 22:18Speaker 3: you had like a Lamar Jackson type that's just not
- 22:21Speaker 3: like a conventional NFL quarterback. Yes, you would be stupid
- 22:25Speaker 3: to just say, no, we want you to run the
- 22:27Speaker 3: Tom Brady offense. We don't ever want you to run
- 22:29Speaker 3: the ball like, No, you have to tailor to the skills.
- 22:33Speaker 3: But I would think that you have a system that
- 22:36Speaker 3: and I think it will be similar to that sort
- 22:39Speaker 3: of Shanahan Kubiak kind of run, you know, under like
- 22:44Speaker 3: like Evan talked about last week under center, heavy play action,
- 22:48Speaker 3: half boots, taking shots down the field, but run dominant offense.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I think that's what they're going to run. That's what
- 22:55Speaker 3: Van Peltz is, you know, done for four years.
- 22:57Speaker 6: And if that's true, it's running. I mean, how are
- 23:00Speaker 6: they going to do it with just a banged up
- 23:02Speaker 6: with Mundry Stevenson, like they.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Need at least that.
- 23:04Speaker 1: You'll just get what's the best running back in the draft.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Give me a napkin, I'll sign a guy.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Who's who's the best running back in the draft this year?
- 23:11Speaker 3: Oh, don't look at me.
- 23:14Speaker 6: No, I I mean I just started dipping into that.
- 23:16Speaker 6: There's a you know, it's as usual though there. I
- 23:18Speaker 6: don't think there's not that Bejon Robinson type this year.
- 23:21Speaker 6: There's a lot of like, what's your kind of your
- 23:22Speaker 6: flavor in the mid rounds? Okay, you know there are
- 23:25Speaker 6: there are no Barkley, no, no, nobody, I mean nobody.
- 23:29Speaker 6: I mean maybe, let's face it, they're not you know,
- 23:30Speaker 6: they shouldn't be considering that anyway. But I just I
- 23:32Speaker 6: wonder if it's you say it's worth free agent too,
- 23:35Speaker 6: I mean, you know, go to free agency to I mean,
- 23:37Speaker 6: because you know, you get these guys coming off their
- 23:39Speaker 6: first contract. A lot of these guys are going to
- 23:41Speaker 6: shake loose, so you know, it's just it's just a
- 23:43Speaker 6: numbers game. Right now, you got one guy, like I mean,
- 23:45Speaker 6: if you're going to base your whole offense on running
- 23:47Speaker 6: the ball, you got to have at least a couple
- 23:49Speaker 6: that are actually the NFL players love that you can stay.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Hell, sign Austin Neckler sure to be more well rounded,
- 23:55Speaker 3: you know, run pass option than than Steven's And even
- 24:00Speaker 3: though Stevenson's got a lot of production as a receiver,
- 24:03Speaker 3: I don't look at him in that regard like like
- 24:05Speaker 3: Eckler or Kamara, you know, those kinds of those kind
- 24:09Speaker 3: of dynamic backs out of the backfield. But you're gonna
- 24:12Speaker 3: need some depth at running back obviously.
- 24:14Speaker 5: You know.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Does Kevin Harris get a shot too? But the shot
- 24:17Speaker 3: that we all, I think, Mike, you and I at
- 24:19Speaker 3: least thought last year he deserved. Yeah, you know, and
- 24:21Speaker 3: they went the Zeke rout and that was fine. Zeke
- 24:24Speaker 3: was fine.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Could he come back?
- 24:26Speaker 3: I would hope not. I would hope you would use
- 24:28Speaker 3: your resources in a better way.
- 24:30Speaker 1: But I mean, he didn't cost that much, did he?
- 24:32Speaker 3: Do you have to pay that for a backup running back?
- 24:36Speaker 3: Like three or four mili? Like, can't you just get
- 24:37Speaker 3: that on Kevin Harris's salary?
- 24:39Speaker 1: But I don't see why three or four million should
- 24:42Speaker 1: preclude him from being It doesn't.
- 24:44Speaker 3: It doesn't preclude you, but it might preclude you from
- 24:46Speaker 3: signing something else with three or four million, that's what
- 24:49Speaker 3: I would worry about.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean cap space fall over here.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Not cap space again. I don't know how many times
- 24:54Speaker 3: this needs to be explained to you. The cap space
- 24:57Speaker 3: they have, I think they have like the eighth or
- 24:59Speaker 3: ninth cap space football, Yeah, maybe even higher than that.
- 25:03Speaker 3: I don't think catspace is an issue. Yeah, money is.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Money is an issue for everybody. You don't let anybody
- 25:08Speaker 3: fool you on that. Jerry Jones, money is an issue
- 25:11Speaker 3: for There's a reason he doesn't pay coaches anything because
- 25:14Speaker 3: money counts.
- 25:15Speaker 6: I would just be very careful about extending on players
- 25:19Speaker 6: thirty plus years old.
- 25:21Speaker 3: And yeah, that's my point, Like Kevin Harris, give you
- 25:23Speaker 3: a reasonable.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Like we're you know, in fact similar to and he
- 25:26Speaker 4: did the bigger piece of it too, which is.
- 25:28Speaker 6: Kind of a little bit of an epiphany that I've
- 25:30Speaker 6: had and we were talking about it yesterday. It's like
- 25:34Speaker 6: these quarterbacks in the draft and everything, like, if it
- 25:36Speaker 6: doesn't put you on a trajectory to challenge Josh Allen
- 25:40Speaker 6: and Patrick Mahomes and Patrick and Joe Burrow, that three guys,
- 25:43Speaker 6: then I don't want it.
- 25:44Speaker 4: I'm going to pull it tomorrow. I don't want it,
- 25:46Speaker 4: you know, like that I'm over it. Like that's that
- 25:49Speaker 4: like everything should be through that.
- 25:50Speaker 6: So it's like, you know, when we get into the
- 25:51Speaker 6: Kirk Cousins of it all, does that put you on
- 25:53Speaker 6: a trajectory to beat Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Oh I left out Jared Goff the way on my
- 25:59Speaker 3: list on Tuesday, thought about that later.
- 26:01Speaker 6: That's the goal, right, well, but you know, and that's
- 26:03Speaker 6: like kind of the overriding philosophy of like this overextending
- 26:06Speaker 6: yourself to sign a thirty one year old running back
- 26:09Speaker 6: at you know, maybe ya, it's affordable, but the possi point,
- 26:13Speaker 6: wouldn't it be better just to try Kevin harre And
- 26:14Speaker 6: if it doesn't work then.
- 26:16Speaker 3: And maybe he couldn't. Maybe if Kevin Harris played all
- 26:18Speaker 3: the time, maybe the ball security issues that we saw
- 26:22Speaker 3: a little bit as a rookie and even training camp
- 26:24Speaker 3: last year, at times I thought, yeah, maybe those would
- 26:28Speaker 3: be a problem. Maybe that's all it was. Yeah, you know,
- 26:30Speaker 3: and maybe that's why they went out and they felt
- 26:32Speaker 3: like they need to get Zeke, who again I thought
- 26:34Speaker 3: did a fine job. I thought he I thought he
- 26:37Speaker 3: was fine as a secondary back. I don't know if
- 26:41Speaker 3: Kevin Harris could chase down someone after an interception as
- 26:44Speaker 3: an example.
- 26:44Speaker 1: But see I'm saying effort. I'm saying, if Kevin Harris
- 26:48Speaker 1: is on the team, Zeke's on the team, and then
- 26:50Speaker 1: you bring in a free agent who might be better
- 26:53Speaker 1: than both of them. And if Karen, if Kevin Harris,
- 26:56Speaker 1: if Kevin Harris can beat out them.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Fine, but how many you need?
- 27:00Speaker 1: A statement? You need like five, at least five or
- 27:02Speaker 1: six running backs on your roster? Yes you do, Oh,
- 27:06Speaker 1: yes you do?
- 27:07Speaker 5: Paul.
- 27:08Speaker 1: How many times have we said on this show the
- 27:11Speaker 1: last year, I know, but that wasn't good.
- 27:13Speaker 3: And how many games did you say, gees, I wish
- 27:15Speaker 3: they had not?
- 27:15Speaker 1: How many times on this show if we said what
- 27:17Speaker 1: are they gonna do with five running backs? And they
- 27:19Speaker 1: end up using all of them?
- 27:20Speaker 3: Yeah, when they get hurt, you just go and get
- 27:22Speaker 3: somebody else.
- 27:23Speaker 1: To replace you. You need a stable of running back.
- 27:25Speaker 1: You don't want six, they don't. They don't all have
- 27:28Speaker 1: to be really good, but you need those guys.
- 27:30Speaker 6: I mean, I like, Paul, you know, the Eckler kind
- 27:32Speaker 6: of thing, like, you know, to get some quality and
- 27:35Speaker 6: you know, I don't need six. I just need somebody
- 27:38Speaker 6: needs to go with Ramandre and a rookie that you know,
- 27:41Speaker 6: four fifth round somewhere in there, somebody that you can carry.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Four guys including Harris and Zeke.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Why does it have to include Zeke? Because why does
- 27:49Speaker 3: it have to have a thirty three?
- 27:51Speaker 1: How old is he?
- 27:51Speaker 5: I don't know?
- 27:52Speaker 3: Why does he have to have a thirty something?
- 27:53Speaker 1: You need your backup, but you have maybe two other
- 27:56Speaker 1: guys you bring in that are better right now? You know,
- 27:59Speaker 1: I'm just saying why not?
- 28:01Speaker 3: And I'm not listening. This is not a Kevin A'm married.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Whenever you put him on social media.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Now I get it, Yeah, I see he's I mean
- 28:09Speaker 4: he's only twenty nine, you know. I mean, but a
- 28:12Speaker 4: thirty year old running back?
- 28:14Speaker 1: Like why?
- 28:15Speaker 3: Like, I just don't understand why you have to have
- 28:17Speaker 3: a thirty year old backup runner.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You don't have to have it.
- 28:19Speaker 3: But like, if I'm now playing at a high level,
- 28:21Speaker 3: like like you know, like Derek Henry or something, roll the.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Dice to me. If it's four million, why not, I I'm.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Because you can use that in so much better ways
- 28:30Speaker 3: I could running back.
- 28:33Speaker 4: I mean, I I'd rather put it to somebody else.
- 28:35Speaker 3: I don't.
- 28:35Speaker 6: I if they brought back Elliott, I'd be fine with it,
- 28:38Speaker 6: but I don't really, I'm not really gonna buy.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I'd rather put it to someone else.
- 28:42Speaker 4: What is it like that money?
- 28:45Speaker 8: You know?
- 28:45Speaker 3: If I'm going to do it for a running back,
- 28:47Speaker 3: I want that. I want a dynamic guy who's going
- 28:49Speaker 3: to make plays, right.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Not a guy on the back and get him too.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Yeah huh, well, how much you want to invest in
- 28:54Speaker 4: running back?
- 28:56Speaker 1: This is my point that you don't run heavy team.
- 28:58Speaker 3: You don't need six guys.
- 29:00Speaker 1: If you're a run heavy team, you better have some
- 29:02Speaker 1: running backs.
- 29:03Speaker 3: I mean Cleveland was a run heavy team last year.
- 29:06Speaker 3: They lost the Star and they were fine. Now were
- 29:11Speaker 3: they a super Bowl threat?
- 29:12Speaker 1: No, they weren't.
- 29:14Speaker 3: They had too many injuries to be a super Bowl threat.
- 29:16Speaker 3: But they filled it in with Kareem Hunt, that guy, Yeah,
- 29:21Speaker 3: what's the other guy's name? Ford? I think we forget
- 29:25Speaker 3: and then old friend Pierre Strong okay Pete who played
- 29:29Speaker 3: like one game. Like, you don't need six running backs.
- 29:34Speaker 3: You could just have like your practice squad guys fill
- 29:36Speaker 3: and you have sixteen practice squad spots. Now put a
- 29:39Speaker 3: guy on that. You have a running back or two
- 29:40Speaker 3: on your practice squad. And when that game comes up
- 29:43Speaker 3: that Echolo has heard, he's got the high ankles bring
- 29:45Speaker 3: because he does get hurt a lot.
- 29:47Speaker 1: You move a guy up from the practice squad, we'll see,
- 29:49Speaker 1: we'll see.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Like it just it doesn't have to be a position
- 29:53Speaker 3: that requires a lot of financial research.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I don't consider that a lot of financial resources. But
- 29:59Speaker 1: you know, frugal Paul over here, all of.
- 30:01Speaker 3: A sudden, I would rather have a four million, five
- 30:03Speaker 3: million dollar receiver as my third or fourth receiver then
- 30:08Speaker 3: running back like I might be able to make a
- 30:10Speaker 3: play or two with him. Maybe someone like Kendrick Bourne
- 30:13Speaker 3: years ago, who was okay in San Francisco but was
- 30:18Speaker 3: looking for a bigger role. Maybe you could find someone
- 30:21Speaker 3: like that, only better than Kendrick Bourne, you know, and
- 30:24Speaker 3: all of a sudden, he's looking to make the next step,
- 30:26Speaker 3: and you can get him for say six or seven millions.
- 30:28Speaker 1: If I have to choose. If you're saying I can't
- 30:31Speaker 1: have Zeke if I have this wide receiver, then okay,
- 30:34Speaker 1: see you later, Zeke, And I'm not. I don't think
- 30:36Speaker 1: that's the case.
- 30:37Speaker 3: And it's and I'm like Mike, if they if they
- 30:40Speaker 3: sign Ezekiel Elliott. I'm not gonna sit there and say, well,
- 30:42Speaker 3: there goes that season. No, Like no, because it's a
- 30:45Speaker 3: running back and it's irrelevant, and I'm not gonna be
- 30:47Speaker 3: I'm not gonna pout because they signed a running back.
- 30:49Speaker 3: It's not going to be the difference between winning and losing.
- 30:53Speaker 4: But it just feels like the kind of move that
- 30:55Speaker 4: is for this year and not really an eye to
- 30:57Speaker 4: the future.
- 30:57Speaker 6: And you know, it's like, it's fine, but I'd prefer
- 31:00Speaker 6: to be thinking about trying to plug guys in who
- 31:03Speaker 6: are going to be here long term and get them
- 31:04Speaker 6: experience and building towards building beating.
- 31:07Speaker 3: It's along the lines of Patrick the amount of talk
- 31:10Speaker 3: that we continue to hear about, go get Kirk Cousins,
- 31:14Speaker 3: go get Baker Mayfield, and I just don't understand why
- 31:18Speaker 3: you would want to do that same kind of thing
- 31:20Speaker 3: with this. At some point, just embrace the fact that
- 31:23Speaker 3: you're rebuilding and try to rebuild now. If you don't
- 31:27Speaker 3: get a quarterback in the draft early in the draft
- 31:30Speaker 3: and you need somebody to come in and play, you
- 31:33Speaker 3: can do that, whether Jacoby Brissett or somebody, I mean,
- 31:37Speaker 3: even Garoppolo isn't going to cost you forty million.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Now I'm with lockstep. I'm lockstep with you on this party.
- 31:44Speaker 4: I really am.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Just rip the band aid off and accept the fact
- 31:48Speaker 3: that we need two or three draft classes stacked together
- 31:53Speaker 3: with good decisions on the bar Moars of the world
- 31:57Speaker 3: and the Gonzalezes of the world. The good decisions pain
- 32:00Speaker 3: the young talent that they have with the hopes of
- 32:04Speaker 3: getting better next year and then getting better a little
- 32:07Speaker 3: bit more than in twenty five. That's what that you know.
- 32:10Speaker 3: And I'm not telling you you shouldn't have any aspirations
- 32:13Speaker 3: to win games next year. Like no one goes into
- 32:15Speaker 3: a year and says we're not gonna win any games
- 32:17Speaker 3: this year. Like you get get better, get younger, and
- 32:22Speaker 3: get more talented should be the number one goal. And
- 32:25Speaker 3: I don't think Ezekiel, Elliott and Kirk Cousins do that
- 32:28Speaker 3: for you. You might win more games, but then in
- 32:31Speaker 3: twenty five you're back to square one because those guys
- 32:35Speaker 3: are not big part of your future.
- 32:37Speaker 6: Put that one on Paul Talk, that one. That one
- 32:39Speaker 6: should be noted. It's a good, good Paul rent I
- 32:41Speaker 6: like that one. Paul's TikTok start they're doing.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Some work yesterday Paul's Oniktok the look on his face.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Had to do a couple of takes.
- 32:49Speaker 4: But you got to dance, right, Is that what it was?
- 32:51Speaker 4: It was a TikTok dance.
- 32:53Speaker 3: I did not dance. Oh, and I didn't have to
- 32:55Speaker 3: do that many takes either. I don't know what Saya
- 32:57Speaker 3: was telling you up there.
- 32:58Speaker 4: So it was like pulling teeth.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Now, it was definitely pulling teeth. I didn't want to
- 33:02Speaker 3: do it, but as predicted, my son kind of thinks
- 33:08Speaker 3: he might have to transfer it now.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Eight five five pass five hundred is the ag ticket outline,
- 33:14Speaker 1: web radio at patries dot com. Is the email address?
- 33:17Speaker 1: Anything else? Before we open it up to the listeners.
- 33:20Speaker 1: We are going to get to our super Bowl pick
- 33:23Speaker 1: at the end of the show.
- 33:24Speaker 4: I don't really have to hurry for that.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Well, I have some thoughts things, So I'm with Freddy
- 33:31Speaker 3: on offensive line. Like I think the offensive line coach
- 33:34Speaker 3: was needed, and I like the profile. I like the
- 33:39Speaker 3: guy who worked under one of the very best. I
- 33:42Speaker 3: like the idea of that. I don't know if you
- 33:44Speaker 3: can coach at all. I don't have no idea if
- 33:46Speaker 3: he's any good I just like the fact that he
- 33:48Speaker 3: tutored under Bill Callahan. I really like.
- 33:50Speaker 1: That's all.
- 33:51Speaker 4: That's all you can get when you said you didn't
- 33:52Speaker 4: like something on the defensive.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I don't like bringing back the Belichick guys, guys that are, yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 3: the guys that are holden to Bill. I worry about
- 34:03Speaker 3: back and forth with Bill. I don't I don't like it.
- 34:07Speaker 3: I don't like it.
- 34:08Speaker 1: He's not coaching, so but you know, there's no intel
- 34:12Speaker 1: to really like worry about.
- 34:14Speaker 3: But it's not intel that I'm worried about. It's what
- 34:19Speaker 3: would you do it that way?
- 34:20Speaker 9: Dad?
- 34:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 34:21Speaker 3: No, oh me. Neither didn't seem right to me either. Well,
- 34:25Speaker 3: that's what I'm worried, I know.
- 34:26Speaker 1: But Gerard's a Belichick guy too. In terms of who
- 34:29Speaker 1: we learned under for defense was I mean a lot
- 34:32Speaker 1: of what he learned from Bill. I'm sure he's gonna.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Use Based on reports last year, it didn't really seem
- 34:37Speaker 3: like those two were costectic.
- 34:39Speaker 1: But that's not because of defensive philosophy.
- 34:43Speaker 3: You know, Do you understand what I'm saying, Mike at all?
- 34:45Speaker 5: No?
- 34:45Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not asking if you agree with I do,
- 34:48Speaker 3: but you don't have.
- 34:49Speaker 4: To know I don't. I don't.
- 34:50Speaker 1: That has nothing to do with coaching the defense.
- 34:52Speaker 3: I'm talking about just in generation.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Can I be blunt? We had an introductory press conference
- 34:58Speaker 3: where we couldn't seem to stop blaming everything on Bill Belichick.
- 35:01Speaker 3: I think that's just going to stop when they're coaching
- 35:03Speaker 3: the team and no one's going now but nothing. And
- 35:05Speaker 3: then you got two guys that were that are in
- 35:07Speaker 3: the league for one reason and one reason only, and
- 35:09Speaker 3: that's Bill Belichick, and they're going to be hearing this
- 35:11Speaker 3: negative stuff about Bill Belichick. Well, and I hope that's
- 35:14Speaker 3: my that's my concern.
- 35:15Speaker 1: And if Gerard Mayo is smart, he will put an
- 35:18Speaker 1: end to that.
- 35:19Speaker 3: But he wasn't smart enough to not do it at
- 35:21Speaker 3: the press conference. But so I don't have any confidence
- 35:23Speaker 3: whatsoever that that's not gonna happen. Smart, when they're in
- 35:25Speaker 3: the building.
- 35:26Speaker 1: He will put an end to that. And in terms
- 35:28Speaker 1: of coaching the defense, I think Mayo is going to
- 35:33Speaker 1: use a lot of what he learned from Bill Belichick.
- 35:35Speaker 1: So I think that that part of it will be okay.
- 35:38Speaker 1: But I hear what you're saying, Yeah, and that's that
- 35:41Speaker 1: can't happen.
- 35:42Speaker 6: I know, well, and I think, you know, I think
- 35:44Speaker 6: Brian probably realizes he's the only one of them left
- 35:46Speaker 6: in the NFL right now. And you know, this is
- 35:48Speaker 6: for as much as it's like go somewhere else, and
- 35:51Speaker 6: you know, like he's not going somewhere else, but it
- 35:53Speaker 6: is a chance for him to, you know, under a
- 35:55Speaker 6: different system, with different coaches, playing under DeMarcus Covington. Now,
- 35:58Speaker 6: I'm sure there'll be some tweaks to the system. I
- 36:00Speaker 6: like Brian, I like Pellegrino. I think they've done it both.
- 36:03Speaker 6: I mean, I hear what Paul's saying to me.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Pellegrino is just like Belichick, just like Brian Belichick. Like,
- 36:08Speaker 3: I don't worry about Covington. Covington came into the league whatever,
- 36:12Speaker 3: you know, Covington cut his teeth under Bill too. I
- 36:15Speaker 3: think that's a fine hire. I'm not as worried about that.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Pellegrino is a lacrosse coach, friends with the Belichicks.
- 36:21Speaker 6: Like there's a difference, Yeah, but he's done a good
- 36:23Speaker 6: job and he's been around for a while. And I mean,
- 36:25Speaker 6: you know, you get some credit for developing Gonzales last
- 36:28Speaker 6: year out of the gate and letting him get in there.
- 36:29Speaker 6: And you know, I think of all the position groups
- 36:31Speaker 6: that they've had, I think he can point to, you know,
- 36:33Speaker 6: the secondary for having good.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Coaching, and that might be a factor. Maybe Gonzales likes Pellegrino,
- 36:40Speaker 1: you know, and it's like, yeah, keep them. They have
- 36:42Speaker 1: a good relationship. He's coached him well.
- 36:45Speaker 3: And I hope you guys are right.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope you too.
- 36:48Speaker 3: I'm concerned about it. I'm concerned about it, all right.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Eight five to five pats five hundred is the ace
- 36:54Speaker 1: ticket hut line. Let's get to the phones, which are
- 36:57Speaker 1: stacked up Patty's and Agawa. What up, Patty?
- 37:01Speaker 10: What's going on?
- 37:02Speaker 1: Hey?
- 37:03Speaker 11: Hey, hopefully my phone's a little bit better today.
- 37:05Speaker 4: I know, really, so, I just wanted to make it's.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Not it's terrible. Yeah, yeah, it's not good. Call back,
- 37:16Speaker 1: call back. Let's go to Eldred in North Carolina. What's up? Eldred?
- 37:22Speaker 4: Here he is, Hey, let's go.
- 37:26Speaker 1: What's up.
- 37:27Speaker 10: I'm hoping I was hoping it will be there.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 37:30Speaker 4: He's sick a little bit.
- 37:31Speaker 1: But but Mike, yeah, I didn't forget you, man, come on,
- 37:34Speaker 1: let's go.
- 37:35Speaker 10: I know, but but but this girl walk by with
- 37:39Speaker 10: a gym step on and think.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I forgive you for that.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Eldrick, Yeah, I forget.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I did not have that in Eldrid Bingo. I didn't
- 37:47Speaker 3: have it.
- 37:48Speaker 10: Did you?
- 37:48Speaker 4: Did you hunt your horn at her.
- 37:49Speaker 1: A little bit?
- 37:51Speaker 5: No?
- 37:51Speaker 1: I was looking at it.
- 37:51Speaker 10: I couldn't hont.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:55Speaker 10: I don't think you need to work. Get back.
- 37:58Speaker 3: She's done, get back?
- 38:00Speaker 10: Uh show u uh. North Carolina gave Evan a rude
- 38:04Speaker 10: awakening about Drake May but uh, and then he kind
- 38:08Speaker 10: of scarfed us a little bit. But if I won't
- 38:10Speaker 10: tell Evan was Evans. We ain't knocking you for WoT
- 38:13Speaker 10: somebody like that. But see, we see him every weekend.
- 38:16Speaker 10: One thing we do. We watch, you know, college and
- 38:19Speaker 10: all that, and his case at his feet. He's not
- 38:23Speaker 10: too much accurate. I don't know how he got sucking.
- 38:26Speaker 10: There'll be the second best quarterback in the in the
- 38:28Speaker 10: in the crap if I was Pennick or what you card,
- 38:30Speaker 10: I be mad on the what about that? Because he
- 38:32Speaker 10: haven't won that he ever did that much, you know,
- 38:35Speaker 10: and he has played from the shotgun when all the
- 38:38Speaker 10: stuff underneath. But his accuracy throws, it's not good down
- 38:43Speaker 10: the field or whatever, and him and Pennies ran about
- 38:45Speaker 10: the same thing that Penny did from the shotgun in
- 38:48Speaker 10: underneath he did it from the shotgun. Well, penalty from shotgun,
- 38:51Speaker 10: but he did under these two. Let's play action pass
- 38:53Speaker 10: and taking deep shot. PENNI is a whole lot better
- 38:55Speaker 10: than he is, you know. But I'm gonna say this
- 38:58Speaker 10: isn't gonna let it go. Story last year before the
- 39:02Speaker 10: draft with the whiskey tavern a bar, and we have
- 39:06Speaker 10: a little little drinks the dinner. But pick when when
- 39:09Speaker 10: the Panthers picked Rice Young, I did wrong. Pick should
- 39:12Speaker 10: have got dropped, anybody said everybody booth me a couple
- 39:16Speaker 10: of weeks ago later.
- 39:19Speaker 1: This is the Alex van Pelt of the trunking business.
- 39:22Speaker 3: No, no, no, it's Ben Ben.
- 39:26Speaker 5: No.
- 39:26Speaker 10: But I did say that some of the people are
- 39:28Speaker 10: still there. They pay for my dinner. Eighty dollars dinner.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Wow, right, okay, all right, all right.
- 39:35Speaker 10: We'll see you next week.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Yeah you will, Thanks later, uh Sam and Saint Catherines
- 39:41Speaker 1: writes in Paul, arguing that he wants Eckler over Zeke
- 39:43Speaker 1: because Zeke is too old, when Eckler is a couple
- 39:45Speaker 1: of months older than Zeke is peak, Paul.
- 39:47Speaker 3: But he's better. Wow, but he's that's a talent difference,
- 39:50Speaker 3: not an age defer. Okay, all right, all right, And
- 39:53Speaker 3: and I like Eckler better than rmondre Stevenson. Like, I'm
- 39:57Speaker 3: not signing Eckler because I want to back up running.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Matt and carlsbad Paul, Why why do you strongly hold
- 40:04Speaker 1: the opinion of fans who want a specific player but
- 40:07Speaker 1: not a seemingly huge price tag. Your stance has been
- 40:11Speaker 1: if you like the player, why do you, as a
- 40:13Speaker 1: fan care about what the price tag is? However, today
- 40:16Speaker 1: you keep what are we talking? You think keeping Zeke
- 40:18Speaker 1: is a bad idea because of his price tag? Please
- 40:20Speaker 1: explain the difference. He doesn't like the player, He just
- 40:22Speaker 1: doesn't like the player.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not that Like what I mean this is
- 40:26Speaker 3: not hard like. Eckler can be a like a he
- 40:31Speaker 3: can be a front line starting running back. And by
- 40:35Speaker 3: the way, he's like an MVP. If I'm going to
- 40:37Speaker 3: be completely honest, I'm not really interested in signing Eckler either.
- 40:41Speaker 3: I'm saying, if you're going to sign a running back,
- 40:44Speaker 3: a veteran running back, get a good one.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Paul would have the first team that has no running back.
- 40:49Speaker 3: No, they would all they would all be young guys
- 40:51Speaker 3: on rookie contracts. Everybody talks about the quarterback needs to
- 40:54Speaker 3: be on the rookie deal. That's the secret, Sauce. The
- 40:57Speaker 3: running back on the on the rookie deal is where
- 40:59Speaker 3: you make your money. Productive running backs and then you
- 41:02Speaker 3: let them go and then get another guy because you
- 41:04Speaker 3: could just draft one in the third or fourth round.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Every year there's guys that are productive.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:10Speaker 4: No, it makes me wonder what they might do with
- 41:12Speaker 4: Stevenson after this.
- 41:13Speaker 3: She'll be rounding me up over there.
- 41:15Speaker 10: I see.
- 41:18Speaker 4: You draft them, play them, you get them out.
- 41:20Speaker 1: That's what it is, right, they get the running back.
- 41:23Speaker 3: And I understand Fred that you need to have running
- 41:26Speaker 3: backs and you need to run the ball a little bit.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I'm not telling you that I just want to throw
- 41:31Speaker 3: the ball sixty times every game. I don't want to
- 41:33Speaker 3: do that. I don't honestly. I just don't think that
- 41:36Speaker 3: you need to have like the best running back possible
- 41:42Speaker 3: all the time. There are a few exceptions. I would
- 41:44Speaker 3: take Christian McCaffrey on my team absolutely. I just mentioned
- 41:48Speaker 3: as Austin.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Eckler would take Christian McCaffrey.
- 41:52Speaker 3: You know, the last four or five years of Austin
- 41:54Speaker 3: Eckler I would absolutely like to have on my team.
- 41:58Speaker 3: I liked Alvinmarra. I like Alvin Kamara. Terrific career. I'm
- 42:03Speaker 3: no longer interested now, but terrific productive player. Absolutely. I
- 42:08Speaker 3: don't need to draft Jamiir Gibbs at twelve. I don't
- 42:13Speaker 3: need that.
- 42:14Speaker 12: No.
- 42:14Speaker 6: I mean, I'm with you, and I think that's like
- 42:16Speaker 6: we spend so much time talking about this stuff and
- 42:18Speaker 6: then it's like you actually have to prioritize, Like you
- 42:20Speaker 6: can't just say I want the best that I want
- 42:21Speaker 6: the best tackle.
- 42:22Speaker 1: I want the best like he kind of have. You know,
- 42:24Speaker 1: there has to be a philosophy. It has to be
- 42:26Speaker 1: a middle class mic. There has to be. It has
- 42:28Speaker 1: to be. It has to be strong, strong, middle stress.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Yep uh, Lucas Will has to be someone visiting your
- 42:33Speaker 3: house on Christmas Eve.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Lucas is the North Attleborough. What's up Lucas?
- 42:38Speaker 13: Hey, guys, I'm just wondering, with all this talk about
- 42:40Speaker 13: the draft, why don't we take the third pick that
- 42:45Speaker 13: we have, whether it's Jene Daniels and Drake may or something,
- 42:50Speaker 13: and while we just one of their receivers that they
- 42:54Speaker 13: played with in college, one of them is gone, right,
- 42:56Speaker 13: and that's drafts. Yeah, so why don't we train it
- 43:00Speaker 13: up basically, get like.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Trade up with what one of the receivers, Well you're.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Not gonna get, yeah, trade down Walker from U n C.
- 43:11Speaker 13: And then we trade up with like another second and
- 43:14Speaker 13: playing on or something.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, there's there's a lot of ways to do it.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Thanks for the Carl Lucas. I mean, I don't know.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's.
- 43:22Speaker 4: Hard to Walker didn't have a great week at the
- 43:23Speaker 4: Senior Bowl.
- 43:24Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not gonna get Neighbors and and and
- 43:27Speaker 6: Jayden Daniels together like a's much.
- 43:29Speaker 1: I mean, that's the.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Idea of you know, Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase is
- 43:33Speaker 3: great and Jalen Waddle you know, you know, and all
- 43:36Speaker 3: that stuff. But those guys are going to go high
- 43:39Speaker 3: in the draft. So in this case, Neighbors is Jaden
- 43:42Speaker 3: Daniels's teammate. You you can't trade up to get Elik Neighbors.
- 43:47Speaker 3: If you take Daniels at three, you don't have anything
- 43:50Speaker 3: to trade up with you, I mean, unless you're like
- 43:52Speaker 3: forfeiting next year, No way, And I don't think people
- 43:55Speaker 3: want to do that right right now. And I don't know,
- 43:58Speaker 3: are you guys big on that? Like the college teammate thing,
- 44:01Speaker 3: I think, I don't think it hurts, but I don't think. No,
- 44:04Speaker 3: it certainly doesn't hurt. But I'm so much for the connection.
- 44:07Speaker 4: More just the connection to which school. And you know, well,
- 44:10Speaker 4: they played at Alabama, but it's not that they played together,
- 44:12Speaker 4: it's that they played at Alabama in the SEC, right.
- 44:14Speaker 3: I like, real quick, off the top of your head,
- 44:17Speaker 3: who was North Carolina's top receiver.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Walker, isn't it?
- 44:21Speaker 3: That's what you want him?
- 44:22Speaker 4: Not really?
- 44:24Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 44:24Speaker 3: Like yep, Malik Neighbors signed me up. Yeah, I would.
- 44:27Speaker 3: I would absolutely take him. He's a really good player,
- 44:31Speaker 3: you know. But I don't have any problem if I
- 44:34Speaker 3: get Drake May and Romadunza. Yeah, and I don't need
- 44:38Speaker 3: Pennix to go with the DNA because they played together.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Jake's at State Farm. What's up, Jake?
- 44:45Speaker 14: Hey, guys?
- 44:45Speaker 13: How you doing all right?
- 44:49Speaker 14: So a long time, first time here, so Stoff just
- 44:52Speaker 14: want to thank you for making the work a lot
- 44:54Speaker 14: easier and listening. And I think twenty eleven I missed
- 44:59Speaker 14: the Fred Paul and you guys are still going strong.
- 45:02Speaker 15: Anyways, I know you guys the house, so I gotta hurry.
- 45:07Speaker 14: But seems like you guys have just been flooded with
- 45:10Speaker 14: draft talks. I wanted to throw something different at you,
- 45:12Speaker 14: a little off season fun. I'm building an all time
- 45:16Speaker 14: team for the past. Sometimes I do it for Madden games,
- 45:19Speaker 14: sometimes just do it on paper for fun.
- 45:21Speaker 15: But my question to you guys is.
- 45:24Speaker 14: Who would you put for the starting three at linebackers
- 45:27Speaker 14: and then who would you pick for the three starting
- 45:30Speaker 14: running backs? Because those are the two positions to struggle
- 45:33Speaker 14: with the most.
- 45:33Speaker 13: And I'll take it.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Off their Patriots all time team or is this this
- 45:37Speaker 1: is Patriots right? Yeah? Well tipp It obviously is number
- 45:40Speaker 1: one for the linebacker.
- 45:42Speaker 3: Yeah, the three best linebackers of Patriots history.
- 45:48Speaker 1: I mean high Tower tipp It. I mean, is do
- 45:51Speaker 1: you consider McGuinness the linebacker.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Or I think if you're only going three, you got
- 45:55Speaker 3: to consider him an end. But if you're going four,
- 45:58Speaker 3: then McGuinness is probably one of the outside guys. Yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 3: I mean Steve Nelson, I mean Rabel.
- 46:08Speaker 1: There's a lot.
- 46:09Speaker 3: There's a lot, yeah, yeah, And it depends like the
- 46:13Speaker 3: not the sound ill Evan on you. It depends on
- 46:15Speaker 3: what you're playing.
- 46:16Speaker 6: Right, yeah, three four four three even front, Yeah, running back, though,
- 46:22Speaker 6: I Corey Dillon's got to be near the top.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Oh, Curtis Martin, Curtis.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Mark, Curtis Dylan, and uh, what do you say?
- 46:28Speaker 3: Three ye Corey Dillon at one year? I'm out on Dylan.
- 46:33Speaker 4: It's a good year.
- 46:33Speaker 3: It was a great year, best year in Patriots history
- 46:36Speaker 3: running back.
- 46:36Speaker 1: But I think Curtis Martin, you know, you look back
- 46:40Speaker 1: at the year where they broke the NFL record for rushing.
- 46:43Speaker 1: But it was a committee.
- 46:44Speaker 3: It wasn't like one guy Cunningham would would deserve consideration
- 46:48Speaker 3: but Sam Bam. But Martin would be my pick, even
- 46:51Speaker 3: though it was only three years. But Dylan did not
- 46:54Speaker 3: like literally fell off a cliff.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I remember watching him try to run into six ouch.
- 47:01Speaker 6: Fuck Kevin fuck I mean Patriots specific Like, I don't
- 47:06Speaker 6: know if I would put him up. Excuse me, is like,
- 47:08Speaker 6: you know, all time running backs in the league. But
- 47:10Speaker 6: like in terms of what he meant to the Patriots
- 47:12Speaker 6: and what he provided for them.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Is he the best third down back the pat I
- 47:17Speaker 3: think so?
- 47:18Speaker 4: I think so.
- 47:19Speaker 6: I mean Veren short Wood had short short time. I
- 47:23Speaker 6: mean James White maybe, but Ron.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Burton, Yeah, it's a good I think the running the
- 47:30Speaker 3: third down back is a good argument because I think
- 47:34Speaker 3: that you could make an argument that Kevin Falk would
- 47:36Speaker 3: have been much more productive if he played when Veren
- 47:40Speaker 3: and White did sure, you know, accentuated that a lot more. Yeah,
- 47:48Speaker 3: Falk is probably.
- 47:48Speaker 1: The You can't argue with James White's productivity, especially in
- 47:52Speaker 1: the big moment. I mean he was always there for yeah.
- 47:54Speaker 3: But so as fuck though, right Jimmy White.
- 47:56Speaker 4: I mean i'd lean Falk on that one. I think
- 47:58Speaker 4: just I think bigger body will work and you know,
- 48:01Speaker 4: the longevity.
- 48:02Speaker 1: But to me, you know, and I know they both
- 48:04Speaker 1: played you know, in the eye or whatever and as
- 48:07Speaker 1: a traditional running back, but they're almost like different positions
- 48:11Speaker 1: than Corey Dillon.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Wash. That's why that's why they're calling him. But that's
- 48:15Speaker 3: why we're doing it. That's this way, don't That's why
- 48:21Speaker 3: we're calling him third that's the whole part.
- 48:24Speaker 1: But the caller said running back.
- 48:26Speaker 3: He's like, you know, that's right. I mean, I know,
- 48:29Speaker 3: the different bath like, that's why we broke it up.
- 48:32Speaker 1: But the caller didn't, So we're getting away from what well.
- 48:35Speaker 3: My my answer to his question was Curtis bart My answer, Yeah.
- 48:39Speaker 4: Paul always brings it back to the scheme. You know,
- 48:40Speaker 4: it was like four three three four.
- 48:43Speaker 3: Le Mike knows, I can't get enough of the ex's
- 48:46Speaker 3: and o's. But break it down, bro, if you don't
- 48:49Speaker 3: know ex's and o's, there's no sense to even watch.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Somebody you have to fill in for. You're doing a
- 48:52Speaker 4: great job making us sound.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Let's get back to the phones. Go to Chris with
- 49:02Speaker 1: a T I A N what's up? Christian?
- 49:06Speaker 8: Hey, guys, uh bred, you definitely don't need five running
- 49:10Speaker 8: backs anymore, six six, you know, like especially on this team,
- 49:16Speaker 8: Like I don't care if they're gonna run the ball
- 49:17Speaker 8: at most, you need three. I just I just not
- 49:22Speaker 8: the NFL anymore. Like I take like Paul, I take
- 49:25Speaker 8: Christian McCaffrey in a hockey but anybody else. Like That's
- 49:29Speaker 8: one thing Bill was was right on about recycling the
- 49:33Speaker 8: running backs like that. He was he was totally right
- 49:36Speaker 8: about that. Just just changing him in and out every year.
- 49:40Speaker 1: And that's fine. But I'm not saying that like I'm
- 49:43Speaker 1: just saying that, why not Zeke, you know, as a backup.
- 49:47Speaker 3: And I told saying, but I told you that I
- 49:49Speaker 3: agree with you and Mike if they resigned, Zeke, I'm
- 49:52Speaker 3: not gonna it's not gonna bother me. I just think
- 49:55Speaker 3: that they would. I would rather somebody else. But it's
- 49:57Speaker 3: not gonna kill me. I know, it's not you know,
- 49:59Speaker 3: it's not gonna buy was a kid.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Running backs were the top of the draft.
- 50:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 50:03Speaker 1: And I know that's changed. That's not happening anymore, you know.
- 50:06Speaker 1: But I mean, even if you.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Go to like two thousand and one, the running back
- 50:10Speaker 3: was the focal point of the offense. Like it's just
- 50:12Speaker 3: a different game.
- 50:13Speaker 1: I understand that. I understand that.
- 50:17Speaker 8: I wanted to get your thoughts and I joined the
- 50:19Speaker 8: show late about like a half power. But did you
- 50:22Speaker 8: guys talk about the Lombardi interview at all on Pelgrim?
- 50:25Speaker 3: We have not talked about that.
- 50:26Speaker 1: We didn't get on get into that last show. Yeah,
- 50:29Speaker 1: it was a good it was a good interview. Ut
- 50:32Speaker 1: I think I think Mike caught him in a lot
- 50:35Speaker 1: of like, you know, contradictions.
- 50:37Speaker 4: You think which might cut which Mike.
- 50:39Speaker 3: Felger Lombardi and a lot of contradictions, you know, like
- 50:42Speaker 3: when Lombardi says, well, you know, they're last in the
- 50:45Speaker 3: league in cash spending. Well, you know, like, so let's
- 50:47Speaker 3: let's let's look into that, you know, like, why do
- 50:50Speaker 3: you think do you think that was Well, I don't know.
- 50:51Speaker 3: I wasn't you know, I'm not in the building. Like, oh, okay,
- 50:55Speaker 3: I'm glad. I'm glad that you are the insider. And
- 50:57Speaker 3: Felger's the moron who doesn't know what he's talking about.
- 51:00Speaker 3: He's not inside the building like you are. But then
- 51:02Speaker 3: when you're asked to explain yourself, you you too were
- 51:05Speaker 3: not inside the building. Yeah, got it.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a nice trick.
- 51:08Speaker 4: There was a lot of fact checking going on afterwards.
- 51:11Speaker 8: Yeah, I didn't. I didn't think much of Lombardi before
- 51:13Speaker 8: an interview, and I.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Think even less of him now.
- 51:16Speaker 3: The problem that's why we get along, bro.
- 51:18Speaker 1: The problem with Lombardi is he's not bad. Like I
- 51:21Speaker 1: read his book. It was a good book, but the
- 51:23Speaker 1: one but he you know, he has to admit when
- 51:27Speaker 1: it comes to the subject of Bill Belichick, I'm biased,
- 51:31Speaker 1: I'm not gonna I'm not objective.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Basically, his his whole goal on that interview was to
- 51:37Speaker 3: let everybody know, here are the three or four reasons
- 51:40Speaker 3: why they stunk. They were really good. Bill did a
- 51:43Speaker 3: really good job, but the quarterback let him down. They
- 51:46Speaker 3: don't spend any money, and he wasn't allowed to do
- 51:49Speaker 3: what he wanted to do. That's the bottom line.
- 51:52Speaker 8: The teacher to wise Crow too, like we know we're
- 51:56Speaker 8: you know, we our record says something the effect of,
- 51:59Speaker 8: you know, but we weren't a bad football team, No,
- 52:00Speaker 8: you were four.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Well that's the other thing, like, you know, his big
- 52:04Speaker 3: thing was like Felger's going with Bill's track record without
- 52:09Speaker 3: Brady and Lombardy jumps ugly on him. It's a lazy narrative.
- 52:13Speaker 3: But meanwhile, he just got finished saying that was a
- 52:15Speaker 3: really good team last year that got let down by
- 52:17Speaker 3: its quarterback. They lost a lot of close games. Well,
- 52:19Speaker 3: if you weren't offering a lazy narrative, you'd know that
- 52:22Speaker 3: most of those close games the Patriots scored last in
- 52:25Speaker 3: to make it close, and they didn't really have a
- 52:28Speaker 3: lot of close games, and it wasn't just about poor
- 52:30Speaker 3: quarterback play.
- 52:32Speaker 11: You know.
- 52:33Speaker 3: And then he goes off and I don't know if
- 52:34Speaker 3: you heard so there was a lot of like little subtle,
- 52:37Speaker 3: subtle jabs he rips Mac Jones left and right and
- 52:41Speaker 3: basically drops that on Robert Kraft's lap and then he
- 52:44Speaker 3: goes and then then what are you gonna do? You
- 52:46Speaker 3: replaced him with someone who's even worse. Oh okay, so
- 52:50Speaker 3: now you saddled with two bad quarterbacks. It wasn't just one.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Like somehow Cleveland was able to find ways to win
- 52:58Speaker 3: games with four different.
- 52:59Speaker 1: Quarterbacks the team. I mean, that was part of his job.
- 53:02Speaker 3: But Lombardy wasn't having it in true fashion.
- 53:06Speaker 16: You know what.
- 53:07Speaker 3: It reminded me of Fred when you used to argue
- 53:09Speaker 3: with Andy and you would have Andy and Andy would
- 53:13Speaker 3: lash out from the corner, just throwing haymakers and saying
- 53:16Speaker 3: the same stupid thing over and over again. Hyperbolic. Right,
- 53:19Speaker 3: that's what Lombardi kept doing. I mean you must.
- 53:22Speaker 16: Believe, I mean, you must have been on the sixth
- 53:24Speaker 16: floor of Daily Pluzzle, like you must believe us Weald
- 53:26Speaker 16: after the law. I mean, why would Bill Belichick give
- 53:29Speaker 16: a rat ass about what Mike Flegler think? Like, when
- 53:34Speaker 16: you're beating an argument, you just keep repeating stupid stuff
- 53:38Speaker 16: that has nothing to.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Do with the argument, over and over again. And that
- 53:41Speaker 1: was kind of I'm surprised Felger didn't jump ugly on him.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I can't believe he did, because we all know that
- 53:48Speaker 1: they do. Listen to what these people say.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Imagine the care Imagine saying to Felger, like, you can
- 53:53Speaker 3: think what you want to Felger, I know that you
- 53:54Speaker 3: make fun of me my shows. You Imagine saying to
- 53:57Speaker 3: Mike Felger, You've never been able to talk to Bill Belichick,
- 54:00Speaker 3: right right, like talk about lazy narrative. Yeah, Like, Mike
- 54:06Speaker 3: Felger probably had as close a relationship with Bill as
- 54:09Speaker 3: anybody on that beat at any time in that twenty
- 54:11Speaker 3: five years, Closer than any of us, way closer about us.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I was never on that I didn't even have a relationship.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Were you ever on the boat? No, the Six Rings?
- 54:20Speaker 3: Were you ever to Nantucket House? Nope, I can tell
- 54:23Speaker 3: you Felder was I know, wow, I.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Know trying to him out.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Absolutely absolutely.
- 54:30Speaker 1: You know.
- 54:31Speaker 6: The thing with the Bill narrative too, though, right now
- 54:32Speaker 6: this is just hard for me, is like and you
- 54:34Speaker 6: know all that stuff like that we talked about for
- 54:35Speaker 6: the last four years, and it's just like, I but
- 54:38Speaker 6: like just the state of the offense right now, It's like,
- 54:42Speaker 6: how did Bill Belichick let this team get to this point,
- 54:45Speaker 6: and even if he was still here.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Do you how do you salvage it? I mean we're
- 54:48Speaker 4: talking it's multiple years he's been on the I mean,
- 54:52Speaker 4: what happened to the reset year in twenty twenty, I
- 54:53Speaker 4: mean we're four years later.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Oh oh, that was a great year of coaching. He
- 54:57Speaker 3: went seven and nine with.
- 54:58Speaker 6: A guy who can't throw the ball, who picked the
- 55:01Speaker 6: who wanted to have a guy who can't throw the ball,
- 55:03Speaker 6: And that's where I agree.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Well, actually it was kind of it was kind of
- 55:06Speaker 1: a good coaching. It was a good coach, but that
- 55:09Speaker 1: wasn't all of his job. You know, that was only
- 55:11Speaker 1: part of his job.
- 55:11Speaker 6: He did not do a good coach I think for
- 55:13Speaker 6: that first week against Miami when they kind of sprung
- 55:16Speaker 6: it on him, you know, and all right, well that
- 55:17Speaker 6: was good.
- 55:18Speaker 4: Because it was a little different, but you know, and
- 55:19Speaker 4: then it flamed out.
- 55:20Speaker 1: And I know, but Cam Newton was god awful.
- 55:24Speaker 3: You know, is better than Mac Jones.
- 55:28Speaker 1: I'm not even sure that Paul at this point he was, Yeah.
- 55:31Speaker 3: He was last year, not twenty one, twenty one. Mac
- 55:35Speaker 3: Jones was a lot better than anything Cam Newton did.
- 55:37Speaker 3: But the other part, like what Fred said, I can't
- 55:38Speaker 3: believe Felger, you know, didn't respond like that's the kind
- 55:41Speaker 3: of stuff Like all Felger said, well, who's responsible for
- 55:45Speaker 3: putting the team together, you know? Was Bill? And then
- 55:49Speaker 3: I would have gone a step further if I were Felgrim,
- 55:51Speaker 3: like the reason why they're so lacking on offense is
- 55:54Speaker 3: because Bill doesn't believe in it. And this is the
- 55:57Speaker 3: same style of play that he's tried to use for
- 55:59Speaker 3: twenty five years that is not really working anymore without Brady.
- 56:03Speaker 3: It's not a lazy narrative to say that they had
- 56:05Speaker 3: eleven different seasons without Brady and never won a playoff game,
- 56:08Speaker 3: but one playoff win. Sorry, do you think any.
- 56:11Speaker 6: Part of it with Felger is a very experienced radio person,
- 56:14Speaker 6: was when you have somebody on the ropes like that
- 56:15Speaker 6: and let him just kind of let him go.
- 56:17Speaker 3: I do think that's what he did. And I know
- 56:20Speaker 3: Tony and Murray got a lot of christ Now, I
- 56:22Speaker 3: would not have done what Tony did. You guys know
- 56:25Speaker 3: me well well enough. There's no way I could have
- 56:27Speaker 3: sat that out right, There's no way I would hear
- 56:29Speaker 3: sat down. But I think Tony looked at it that way,
- 56:33Speaker 3: like this guy's making a fool of himself. Mike is
- 56:36Speaker 3: doing fine. I'm gonna sit out.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Yeah, And you don't want it, like he is a
- 56:39Speaker 1: guest on your show, you don't want to. I think that.
- 56:42Speaker 3: I think that was part of it too, this whole thing,
- 56:44Speaker 3: like I don't know what I was coming on for.
- 56:46Speaker 3: You came on looking for a fight. Lombardy went there
- 56:50Speaker 3: looking for a fight.
- 56:51Speaker 5: Think.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Oh, the whole thing about the fake Patrick Pass account
- 56:54Speaker 3: that he retweeted.
- 56:56Speaker 4: I don't know what that is it was about.
- 56:58Speaker 3: There's a fake Patrick Pass account.
- 56:59Speaker 4: Then even I know this, Jesus, I don't do social media.
- 57:02Speaker 3: You don't, Okay, maybe on TikTok, I'll teach you how
- 57:06Speaker 3: to do I'll teach you that. I'll teach you the
- 57:08Speaker 3: ins and outs of TikTok. But there's a fake Patrick
- 57:12Speaker 3: Pass account that said that.
- 57:15Speaker 5: You know.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Basically, Felger was able to convince the Crafts to move
- 57:19Speaker 3: on from Belichicker. Felger was able to convince the crowd
- 57:23Speaker 3: and Michael Lombardi quote tweeted and said preach In other words,
- 57:32Speaker 3: I didn't know that he spelled preach wrong too. So
- 57:39Speaker 3: in fairness I don't. I believe Mike thought it was
- 57:41Speaker 3: real too. It was really Patrick passed too, like neither
- 57:44Speaker 3: one of them knew it was a fake.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Account, but still knowing thinking that it was real makes
- 57:49Speaker 1: that tweet or that response by Lombardi's right.
- 57:52Speaker 3: But that's what I'm saying. He came in looking for
- 57:56Speaker 3: a fight. You can't then pretend, is it Flegler?
- 58:00Speaker 1: Right?
- 58:01Speaker 3: Like that's like it's like John Dennis.
- 58:03Speaker 12: Like.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Like you're so above you. I don't know your name.
- 58:07Speaker 3: You're exposing yourself as a fraud. Right, all right, as
- 58:11Speaker 3: you see Paul's foods here, it's pizzas here.
- 58:14Speaker 1: We will take a break. Lots of emails, lots of
- 58:17Speaker 1: calls coming in. Picks live read, Oh thank you, Matt.

- 59:11Speaker 7: As I think back over the past few seasons, I
- 59:14Speaker 7: wanted to thank my most trusted game day teammate, Toastitos.
- 59:19Speaker 7: As I recall the last minute grocery runs in late
- 59:23Speaker 7: night dishwashing, the salty defeats and spicy victories, I realize
- 59:29Speaker 7: it was all thanks to my teammate, Toastitos. It was
- 59:33Speaker 7: always you, Toastitos. Team up with Toastitos, the official chip
- 59:39Speaker 7: and Dip of the New England Patriots, and we're back
- 59:45Speaker 7: with the.
- 59:46Speaker 5: PU halftime show. Matise is letting me host today because
- 59:52Speaker 5: this is actually gonna be my last halftime show because
- 59:56Speaker 5: I accepted a job with p WHL Boston, so I
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: will be moving on from the new England Patriots. But
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: I get to host today's episode, so I'm super excited
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: about that.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: I gift for all you do.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Yes, thank you.
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: Yeah, you're like great. I don't have to do it today,
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: but as always, we're to get started with some trivia,
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: and with the super Bowl coming up, I figured might
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: as well have some super Bowl themed trivia. So first question,
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: what was the average ticket price for the first ever
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: Super Bowl? Let tell you what it was, certainly not
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: what it is now, all right, super Bowl twenty seven. Okay,
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: so by defeating the Bills fifty two to seventeen, which
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: coach became the first person to win a national championship
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: and a super Bowl title. I have no idea then
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: looking at super Bowl thirty three, which Hall of Fame
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: quarterback rode off into the sunset after winning MVP honors
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: and the super Bowl that year. So a little bit
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: of history lesson Yeah yeah, found them on CBS dot com. Oh,
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: but we have a super Bowl coming up this weekend.
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: The San Francisco forty nine ers and the Kansas City
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: Chiefs for super Bowl fifty eight. This is it. Well,
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: maybe it's been rumored to be the super Bowl that
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: nobody wanted, but it is a rematch of the one
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: from twenty twenty. How are you feeling. Let's talk about
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: the Kansas City Chiefs for a second. How did they
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: get here? How do they get this?
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: I don't think they're that good. Like the defense, it's
- 1:01:26Speaker 9: the defense. Stagnol is an unreal defensive coordinator. He stuffed
- 1:01:30Speaker 9: us twice in the Super Bowl or yeah, one of
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: the two I forget. So really defense, I mean the
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: wide receivers for the Chiefs just haven't.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Been all that.
- 1:01:39Speaker 9: But that's how you kind of prove greatness as a quarterback,
- 1:01:42Speaker 9: which Mahomes has done, which is you elevate the players
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: around you. Yeah, and he's done that. I mean they
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: hit on Rashie Rice and even Tony when he catches
- 1:01:50Speaker 9: the ball, he's when he catches what he doesn't he's
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: doing what he's doing. But yeah, I think just solid,
- 1:01:56Speaker 9: good enough offense and elite defense.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: Yeah, No, I think Patrick Mahomes recently came out and said, like,
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: sometimes you just have to lean on the fact that
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: your defense is out playing the offense and lean into
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: what you have. And it's gotten them this far.
- 1:02:08Speaker 9: I mean, like it doesn't help when when Kelsey decides
- 1:02:12Speaker 9: to be a football player. Oh yeah, See, he had
- 1:02:14Speaker 9: a bit of a lull there and now he's been
- 1:02:17Speaker 9: going off.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think he was quoted saying that he
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: wants this Super Bowl more than anyone that he's played
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: in before. So he's fired up, he's ready to go.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: Of course, there's all the Taylor Swift Is she going
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: to be there? How is she going to be there?
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Too? We did some prop bets for the last one,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: so yeah, so.
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: I think we'll certainly see how that plays out. But
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: I mean on the forty nine ers side, they were
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: twelve and five on the season, won the NFC West,
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: their first in the NFC. Like, they've been dominant all season.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: I think with Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy, they've they've
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: really just hit their stride. Their roster is beyond stacked.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: Like I talked a lot about, just like the playmakers
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: that are on this team on my own podcast, Playmakers Perspective.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: Check it out. You've got Deebo, Samuel, George Kittle, Christian
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: McCaffrey like on offense, and then their defense is also
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: playing lights out. You've got Nick Bosa, Chris Fred Warner, Like,
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: I just think all around, this is on paper a
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: more talented team. It's just going to be if they
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: decide to show up.
- 1:03:16Speaker 9: It's it's it all comes down to party. The games
- 1:03:19Speaker 9: they lost is Purty being bad and he did almost
- 1:03:22Speaker 9: everything in his power to lose that game against the Lions.
- 1:03:25Speaker 9: It takes some buck sometimes, and you know if he
- 1:03:28Speaker 9: gets that out of his system and just plays within
- 1:03:31Speaker 9: himself and just gets the balls to his Avengers, yeah
- 1:03:35Speaker 9: he will, Like there's no like they pretty much. My
- 1:03:38Speaker 9: thought is they can't go down. If they go down
- 1:03:40Speaker 9: by two scores, Oh, it's gonna be very hard from
- 1:03:42Speaker 9: the comeback because I mean the Chiefs held the Ravens
- 1:03:45Speaker 9: to what however many points?
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: It was, Like, Yeah, I think it's crazy because all
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: playoffs the forty nine ers have had to come back,
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: which is something that they couldn't really do all season
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: and then figured it out in the off season or
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: in the postseason obviously, But I agree, if they're down
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: two scores to the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes is Patrick
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: Mahomes in the playoffs, like, I don't know how you
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: come back.
- 1:04:06Speaker 9: You're gonna you're gonna get the nitpicky calls against like
- 1:04:09Speaker 9: for Mahomes, like it's all gonna happen, so you just
- 1:04:12Speaker 9: like you kind of. I don't want to say, play
- 1:04:13Speaker 9: a perfect game, but you can't turn the ball over?
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Yeah, who do you?
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: Who do you think is gonna come out on top?
- 1:04:19Speaker 9: I don't know if I'm doing to want or think yeah,
- 1:04:22Speaker 9: yeah there's two maybe because you know, I don't. I
- 1:04:25Speaker 9: think the Chiefs defense is too good for it to
- 1:04:27Speaker 9: be like too high scoring a game. I'm gonna go
- 1:04:29Speaker 9: like twenty one seventeen, forty nine ers fair, I think they.
- 1:04:34Speaker 9: I think Shanahan finally gets it done.
- 1:04:36Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:04:37Speaker 9: I don't know who MVP will be. It'll go to
- 1:04:39Speaker 9: whoever the quarterback is, but it might be like you know,
- 1:04:41Speaker 9: like fifty one, like Tom Brady was an MVP, but
- 1:04:44Speaker 9: James White, yeah did all the dirty work.
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: But I feel like it would be tough for the NFL,
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: if like the forty nine Ers win, to not give
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: it to mister irrelevant. I feel like it has to
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: have like that's the storyline. If you're a Super Bowl
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: champ like you and you're mister irrelevant, I feel like
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: you have to.
- 1:05:00Speaker 9: It's just funny because like, you know, perty's gonna end
- 1:05:02Speaker 9: up being like twenty five for like thirty five. Yeah,
- 1:05:07Speaker 9: but somehow it's gonna be like one hundred and ninety
- 1:05:09Speaker 9: yards like that. But like, and the McCaffrey's gonna have
- 1:05:12Speaker 9: three touchdowns.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: Oh absolutely, I hope McCaffrey has an absolutely unreal game.
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: I also think the forty nine ers are gonna find
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: a way to win. I think it's gonna be a
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: little bit more high scoring because I do think the
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: Chiefs defense is eventually gonna wear out just a little bit.
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: So I'm thinking more twenty seven twenty one, forty nine
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: Ers get a last second score to really kind of
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: steal the deal. But I don't know. It's gonna be
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: an exciting game. It gonna be exciting halftime performance. Yeah, sure,
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: so sure, I'm excited about that. It's certainly gonna be good.
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: And I think, like it's crazy because as decorated and
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: as amazing as Kyle Shanahan is, like, he hasn't won
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: a Super Bowl.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: You gotta get it done.
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: He's got to get it done. He's technically oh and
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: two in the Super Bowl.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: Ohen won as a head coach and then he was
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: also the oc Falcon, so we know how that turned out.
- 1:05:57Speaker 9: I am my The main thing I want, honestly, what
- 1:06:00Speaker 9: I want is a high scoring, classic game that I
- 1:06:02Speaker 9: don't need to be worried about and not have a
- 1:06:04Speaker 9: dog in the fight.
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06:05Speaker 9: But the past two Super Bowls, in my mind, have
- 1:06:08Speaker 9: been ruined by the refs. Fair and I mean, we
- 1:06:11Speaker 9: had you like the Bengals Rams, they didn't call a
- 1:06:13Speaker 9: flag the whole game, they called them last drive, and
- 1:06:16Speaker 9: then they just ruined the game last year with that
- 1:06:18Speaker 9: nippicky call. So yeah, just there be ref issues all year,
- 1:06:22Speaker 9: and I just don't want them to ruin a great game.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know what, that's I think that's what
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: everyone is hoping for. I know nobody really wanted this
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: Super Bowl matchup, but I think it's going to be
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: high scoring. I hope it's really best team wins. But
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: we'll step to see what happens. And thank you for
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: letting me host. Today is the last one I'll probably try.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: To call in.
- 1:06:43Speaker 9: Yeah, thank you for helping get this this little show
- 1:06:46Speaker 9: off the ground.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: We're gonna miss you.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: But all right, we want to we want to wrap
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: it up.
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: It's been fun, it's been real. Let's get back to
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: pictures and filtered.
- 1:06:56Speaker 18: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, oh no,
- 1:07:01Speaker 18: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:07:05Speaker 18: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx Where
- 1:07:09Speaker 18: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: History they had.
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: She had one where she was talking smack about Drew
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: bloodshell sonats who oh now it's on.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: Now, it's now, it's now.
- 1:07:27Speaker 19: It's definitely a thing. No, but all I saw, I
- 1:07:30Speaker 19: mean I saw like Meghan had like one hundred scream screaming,
- 1:07:34Speaker 19: but they had just won. Like what is she supposed
- 1:07:37Speaker 19: to put to the.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Library face face face like just shing Freud.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: I just wanted to I'm sorry, what was that work?
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: Shading through?
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Not the as I said, shoden Freud.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: He went over to many he said in two different ways.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: Neither one of them was correct. Shotting fucking all.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Right, all right, that's another great moment. Hey, are you

- 1:08:46Speaker 6: something like that little Malik Cunningham.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: Don't you dare?
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Oh how dare you?
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: Well?
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: You could do things like, oh, this is so comfortable
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: this chair.
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: You know, just like a little where can I put
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: all my stuff?
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Yeah? Ah, oh, here's a remote thing.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: Look at this probably was actually sitting.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Oh all right, A five five past five hundred is ace.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Take an outline web radio at Patriots dot com is
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: the email address. Let's go to Scott and Wellesley, shall
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: we Scott Scott.
- 1:09:13Speaker 13: Hey, guys, how are you good?
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: By Scott Hey.
- 1:09:16Speaker 12: Two questions that you guys. Number one, an l a Wolf,
- 1:09:19Speaker 12: like you know, it seems like he's the guy who's
- 1:09:21Speaker 12: running things out. I was wondering why there's no clarification
- 1:09:25Speaker 12: on that. And are you guys concerned? I mean, he's
- 1:09:28Speaker 12: been employed during these bad drafts. Are we supposed to
- 1:09:30Speaker 12: assume that Elliot Wolf had all these great ideas and
- 1:09:33Speaker 12: other scouts had all these great ideas and Bill just
- 1:09:36Speaker 12: overruled him and everything was Bill's fault.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Yes, we're supposed to assume that.
- 1:09:39Speaker 12: Yeah, yes, you are you guys aware, like you know,
- 1:09:43Speaker 12: anything that picks maybe the Elliott might be offensive offensive
- 1:09:48Speaker 12: direction that he made.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Going, that's a good it's a good question.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: That's a great question. I don't have anything.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: I was doing a great bit before the show.
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: Or it was just like Christian bumber mine cold strengths
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: that was built, that was built, that was built, you know,
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: like Tom tug.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: Mine mine DeMaria Tuglas was mine.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: Right right?
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Not mine?
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: Not mine? No, that's a that's a great question. I
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: mean I think that's uh, it just.
- 1:10:10Speaker 12: Seems like it seems like, you know, he's been here
- 1:10:12Speaker 12: for a little while. You think you haven't you think
- 1:10:14Speaker 12: people if he was in fact, let's just say he
- 1:10:16Speaker 12: didn't want to pick Ni Kila, Harry or Strange or
- 1:10:20Speaker 12: Juwan Williams or whoever, you know, all these guys.
- 1:10:22Speaker 13: Yeah, somehow you know about that, and so I'm hereous.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Just the other question, Well, we didn't.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Hear anything before you go on, Before you go on
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: from this particular subject. We don't hear any specifics. But
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: we have heard of Bill overruling his scouts. We have
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: heard that, but Harry is the one that Yeah, but
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: nothing specific. Yeah, go ahead, Scott.
- 1:10:46Speaker 8: The other question I had for you.
- 1:10:47Speaker 12: Guys is about Beth Jones. I mean everyone, you know,
- 1:10:51Speaker 12: everyone's doing the Bombardi impression. You know, I realized he
- 1:10:54Speaker 12: has was I realized he's not very good, but nobody
- 1:10:58Speaker 12: was set up for failure or the mis guy for
- 1:11:00Speaker 12: all the reasons that you guys know. Do you think
- 1:11:03Speaker 12: there's any chance he could go somewhere else and be
- 1:11:05Speaker 12: kind of like a Jim Blunkett Part two where he
- 1:11:07Speaker 12: basically leaves the Patriots not really that strong arms, but
- 1:11:10Speaker 12: maybe he goes around, gets some weapons and he could
- 1:11:12Speaker 12: be a useful quarterback in the NFL.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: I would say my useful would be would top out
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: at like a backup that maybe would come in and
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: play some games for it. I don't really see him
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: ever being a long term.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Stat I mean, I think he could be useful for
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: a bad team as the starter, but I don't think
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: he could be Jim Plunket.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Yeah. And then you know again, part of his issue
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: isn't just the tangible physical stuff, leadership qualities.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: And that's part of the whole thing. Yeah. I do
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: think he had a lot of things stacked against him,
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: and I think he handled them all extremely poorly.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Thanks Scot, appreciate the car.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: There are very few perfect scenarios like San Francisco, right,
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: they have the great roster around the quarterback, whoever the
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: quarterback is. Now, the problem is it's considered this quarterback
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: proof system that Shanahan is pretty tough to play for
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: in this easy quarterback system. So even that where they
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: have a lot of talent and supposedly the reads are
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: straightforward and they make it easy for the quarterback, and
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: a lot of average quarterbacks have looked better than average,
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: you know, under that system. But he's tough to play for.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: So even in a good situation like that, there's there
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: are flaws too.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: We had some trivia at halftime, did we.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, just let's go me and you. What was the
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: average rings outside Tommy Gunn.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: What was the average ticket price for the first ever
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Super Bowl?
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Oh, boy, Deuce, I'm gonna say eighteen dollars.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: Well, I'm going to say fifty dollars.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Twelve twelve dollars, Mike.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Circle square unless it was Jeopardy rules in that you
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: were no Jeopardy.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: And I hear like the average price right now now
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: it's like six grand, seven grand.
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: Oh boy, I wish I had done it.
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: But face value, the average price is seven grand.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: Wow, yeah, like I think I think rockets. Oh one,
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: I want to say my ticket was two fifty.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: Yeah, because the nine to eleven. Was that anything to
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: do with it?
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember I think Houston, mine was twelve hundred bucks.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: Well, you and then you ended up getting you know,
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: remember you guys had decoration tickets. No no, no, don't
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: be don't be still, you got super boring. But you
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: get a ticket and the price of the ticket is loll.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Oh, it tells you.
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: Now we did get a complimentary I think we get
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: two red and iye, wow.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Well we did because we were working. If you just
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: got flown down. But you got one for you, one ticket,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: But we got one for ourselves, right.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: Right, one for yourself and you and I got one
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: for ourselves and one for whoever we wanted.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Right, but you were in the press box.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: You got to so we know.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: So we didn't need it.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: We never needed it.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: That gave us too, That gave us two, got right,
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: be tough choice.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Super Bowl twenty seven by defeating the Bills fifty two
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: to seventeen, which coach became the first person to win
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: a national championship and a super Bowl title.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: I'll give you the first crack, Mic, I know the answered.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: I just lost it. I lost track. Can I can
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: you repeat the question?
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Super Bowl twenty seven, the Bill's lost fifty two to seventeen,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: which coach became the first person to win a national
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: championship and a super Bowl title.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: It's not damn Reees, is it?
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: How about them Cowboys?
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: Jimmy Johnson? You right, I gotcha? And that's funny. I
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: was thinking of Barry Switzer too, But super.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: Bowl thirty didn't win a title with anybody?
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Super Bowl right?
- 1:14:53Speaker 10: Uh?
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Super three thirty three, which Hall of Fame quarterback rode
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: off into the sunset after winning MVP honors in his
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: team's thirty four to nineteen win. John Away, Right, yeah,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: John Alway, I just like to be fair. Yeah. Super
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Bowl trivia, it's uh appropriate because it's Super Bowl week.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Can't wait? What are your plans? You got any big
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: super Bowl plans though?
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: Key fai? Just make some food and eat.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but with who my family? Now, we're not doing
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: a party or anything now, Paul, you got big, big plans?
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: Not huge? Definitely benefiting from the fact that Will's in college,
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: so I don't have to have Will and twenty eight
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: of his closest friends. Yeah, like I have typically Yea's
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: coming over and his birthday now that they had the
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: week the week difference. It used to be his birthday
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: party and super Bowl party, but now there's a week different,
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: so it's no longer coincides with that. But for someone
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: Wi says, what, it's not his birthday anymore?
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: What are you gonna food up?
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll do Uh. Beth has this idea she's gonna
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: do like a little uh nacho bar. I love nachos,
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: like We just think you can kind of make your own.
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: So you have all the stuff there and you can
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: go through and sort of put together whatever you want.
- 1:16:06Speaker 6: I'd like like a nacho dip with like a cream
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: cheese bass. I like buffalo chicken some too, but that's
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: got cream cheese and you got to Super Bowl. I
- 1:16:14Speaker 6: think that's like it's one of the it's one of
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: the major.
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: Food we'll have. We love that. We'll have like cal zones.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: We have like a bunch of app kind of things.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: Where are my apps?
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: You know me?
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: I love my apps. But we'll have probably rabuoli and
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: like chicken tenders.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: That's what it's all about. It's about the food. I
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: don't know what's the.
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: Game we'll have. We'll have a good amount of family
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: on both sides. I think my parents are coming.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: That's a big party.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: That's great, not that big. I don't think TJ's got
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: the rolodecks that will did, so it'll probably only be
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: about ten of TJ's.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: You've probably got a lift too.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: I mean, like it used to get to the point
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: where it's like everybody was downstairs and like all the
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: quote unquote adults would be upstairs. But I would get
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: stuck downstairs and like sitting on the floor at my
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: own house.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: The disrespect.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Uh would you yell at the kids, Paul make fun
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: of them?
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: Oh yeah, he's just yelling at the refs, like during
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: the game.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: I try not to do that. I try not to
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: be my normal self watching a game because like my
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: in law, my mother in law, Will, its kind of
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: like rolling there he goes again.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: It's like Will no Will.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: What Will does is the opposite. He he wants to
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: see if he can get me to it on.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: I don't know that I like it.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: Dad, Like Marcus Smart's pretty good today, you know, smile
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: one of those things.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: Uh, Nicks in New Jersey? What's up? Nick? Hey?
- 1:17:38Speaker 10: Hey, hey, hey, So I just had a quick one
- 1:17:41Speaker 10: for you guys.
- 1:17:42Speaker 11: With March thirteenth coming up around the corner here for
- 1:17:44Speaker 11: the next season. I just wanted to know a couple
- 1:17:46Speaker 11: of names that you're that you're looking for the Patriots
- 1:17:48Speaker 11: to resign and then also some free agents and maybe
- 1:17:51Speaker 11: like three and three free agents to bring in and
- 1:17:53Speaker 11: some new guys to resign.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, resign. I don't it's not really a resign,
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: but I want an extension of in a redo of
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Christian barm War right now.
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'd say that I would like I'd like
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: to retain Hunter Henry. I think that's you know, there's
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: just there's nothing out there really for tight ends on
- 1:18:11Speaker 6: the market.
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: Maybe Dalton Schultz.
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: You could you could talk me into swapping Hunter Henry
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: for Dalton Schultz maybe, but there's just nothing, Like I mean,
- 1:18:17Speaker 6: you need a body there, you need an NFL starter.
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: He's one of the only ones even in the draft.
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: It's really hard to do.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: You want to pay Henry as little as possible.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he disagrees with you.
- 1:18:31Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, no, I mean it's but you know, look,
- 1:18:33Speaker 6: it's it's kind of thing where you'd love to you
- 1:18:35Speaker 6: know maybe. I mean, there's just not a way to
- 1:18:38Speaker 6: see getting an impact tight end in the draft right away.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: So just what are you going to do?
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: You know?
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: And another thing I noted too was.
- 1:18:44Speaker 6: Uh, you know, Farah Brown had some experience in Cleveland,
- 1:18:46Speaker 6: so these coaching staff is has some familiarity with him.
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: It's just, you know, general, you need some bodies there
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: at the position. I'm I'm probably alone on this. I
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: could I could take it or leave it with him.
- 1:18:57Speaker 6: When you Doug I was gonna say, what about on
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: when you I'm take it or.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: Leave it with him, because like if I would, I
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: would resign one.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Yeah, because let's just say you get a tackle, you know,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: not necessarily Joe all, but you get a good tackle
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: in the second round or something like that. Having on
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: when you there too is you know, now you're you know,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: if Andrews plays again, you're gonna you've got.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: But that's only if he wants to play tackle.
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: Right and when you yeah, and I think you could
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: do better.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: You don't think you could get a right tackle later
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: in the draft or something.
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: No, No, I'm saying if you if you're retaining a
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: when you to play tackle while you have the rookie
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: play the other side, Yeah, that's great if as long
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: as the one you wants to play tackle he kind
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: of has said he doesn't, so you did it because
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: he had.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: You wouldn't want to sign him if he wants to
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: play guard, I'm not as I.
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: Just think that's where he's best, Like I want him
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: to play at his best position.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: I would I would resign him. I said that at
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: the beginning, Like the one guy you know out of
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: all of them, you know, I think dogger, you could
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: make an argument for and in a WHENU those two
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: theo's the only two that I'm really interested in. But
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: I would be more interested in the when you play
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: in guard than tackle because I don't really think he
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: wants to play tackle, and I don't think he's a
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: great tackle. I think I think he's a good guard.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: So you resign him at guard money, okay, But I
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: would like if again, I would resign them because I
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: think that they need to have at some point they
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: need to draft guys and then resign them, like and
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: they haven't done that consistently in a long time, so
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: I would resign them. But like if they lose them Fred,
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: I mean, there's like a kind of an old school
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Patriot philosophy of I just drafted four guys in the
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: last two years that for interior offensive line, Like I
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: can get by with some combination of strange. So Mafi
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: Jake Andrews, you know, in David Andrews, I have five
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: guys to play three spots.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: That's where I am.
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: That's where I am.
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: I just I think you could do better at right
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: tackle than mikeel Win. You and you know it's you.
- 1:20:54Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know exactly what they think of city.
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: But he played, he looked okay, and I'm fine with
- 1:21:00Speaker 6: you know, and it keeps drawing the comparisons, like, don't
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: let these guys get away. I think Michael when he
- 1:21:05Speaker 6: was fine, But like I just think you need to
- 1:21:07Speaker 6: recalibrate things a little bit.
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: I don't know. I just I don't think he's I
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: don't think he's the best you can do.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Attack.
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: I think offensive lineman, I really do. I think people
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: that you know.
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: Put that money towards his tackle.
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: You know, just some other names that I've kind of
- 1:21:23Speaker 6: jotted down a couple of other running backs just to
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: throw out there, Paul, because I did have Eckler down
- 1:21:27Speaker 6: on my little short list. But Tony Poulard, Denvan Singletary,
- 1:21:30Speaker 6: DeAndre Swift were a few.
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:21:33Speaker 6: Calvin Ridley, I think they should take a shot at him,
- 1:21:35Speaker 6: Curtis Samuels at least free agents.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: That just guy I would go after. That's a big
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: that's a big ticket item.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: Big fish. Jonathan Greenard from Houston. I liked him coming
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: out of the draft.
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: I just think you need you need an edge, you
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: need some kind of front seven presents that that you
- 1:21:50Speaker 6: bring in.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they're getting a little long in the tooth for sure.
- 1:21:54Speaker 16: For sure.
- 1:21:55Speaker 6: And then just on the back end with like Dougar,
- 1:21:57Speaker 6: you know, do they say, look, we want to go
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: a little bit more of the free safety route. We
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: don't want to have three strong safeties that we're playing.
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: We want to keep Peppers in there. He's under contract.
- 1:22:06Speaker 6: He's only I think like six months older than Dougars,
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: So you're kind of talking about the same guy. But
- 1:22:10Speaker 6: you know a few guys Avery McKinney, Jordan Fuller, Cameron Curl,
- 1:22:13Speaker 6: Jeremy Chin, Jeremy Chin, more of a strong safety type,
- 1:22:15Speaker 6: but just a freew free safety types that hey, let's
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: get some range and some speed on the back end
- 1:22:20Speaker 6: to compliment Peppers. We're not going to be, you know,
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: as crazy with the strong type end strong safety compliment Peppers.
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: My god, you know anybody else?
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: How about.
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: I know it's not a good class.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: No I had.
- 1:22:35Speaker 6: I had Jonah Williams on there. I know a lot
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: of people have kind of can you know, considering him.
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: But he's another one that you know, was a left tackle,
- 1:22:42Speaker 6: couldn't really play there.
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: They moved him to right tackle.
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: But you know, I think that's a better investment than
- 1:22:47Speaker 6: you know saying when you were gonna Jeff right, and
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: I would I would consider Kenny Moore too, just as
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: a slot guy, you know, a little bit older. Not
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: don't love it, but I just I think the slot
- 1:22:58Speaker 6: position unless you bring Miles Bryant back and you know,
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: like McConkie, McConkie.
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: Talking about I know you're going to play cornerback too,
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: but he probably could.
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: But Kenny Moore, good little you know, slot player, just
- 1:23:10Speaker 6: as a you know, compliment to Jonathan Jones or or
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: you know, are you still in love with Jonathan Jones
- 1:23:15Speaker 6: moving into the slot on third down and then you
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: just get another outside guide that to kind of compliment him.
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: He's talking about defense, well he's talking about he's talking
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: about Kenny Moore and you mconkie, well, I just I
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: just think listeners, I don't want to.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: I don't want to. I looked up from the emails
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: and I heard.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: Slot and he just mconkie, he mccakey did.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: L from Wisconsin. It must be really nice to be
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: fred and have full faith that everything they do is
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: the right thing.
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: I want to defend you in Yeah, I don't think
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: you've been like that.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:23:45Speaker 6: I mean, I just think there's a baseline of where
- 1:23:48Speaker 6: we're starting over, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: Like you can look at it any way you want
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: to look at it, like I choose to go in
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: with Hope.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: I mean, you know, like these guys are no good
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: because they're not all Kyle Sham. I'm sorry. You know,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: there's only one of him, and he's not available, and
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: so we've got to do what we can do.
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: I realized part of the thing with Ben maculdo that
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: that just kind of rubs me the wrong ways. He
- 1:24:09Speaker 6: looks way too much like the principal from Ferris Bueller's
- 1:24:12Speaker 6: Day Off. Yea, Like, I just I can't unsee that
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: every time I look at him, it looks like.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: I don't know why any guy would have a mustang,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: mister Rooney, What is the thing with mustaches?
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: Rooney?
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: You know, ladies like him, friend, Ladies like mustaches.
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: It's a flavor saver.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: And I you know, I kind of know the joke there,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: what's behind that, but I'm not going to say it.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: Let's see, Tim writes in Love the Show, With all
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: of these packer guys now on our staff, do you
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: think DeVante Adams could be in play this offseason. I
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: wouldn't be surprised if we see some former Packers on
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: the team next year.
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: No, I mean he's not available, is he?
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: Who?
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: DeVante Adams from the Raiders.
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: No, he just won his power struggle. We've got the coaches.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's too Babishan Gary resigned with cream Bay. I
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: would have taken him.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: Let's see, Alex, who's this? I don't know. Somebody hasn't
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: received their T shirt from the trivia?
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: What good job?
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: Alex? Matt is so mad from North Carolina? Yeah?
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: Did you put posterage on it?
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: Now?
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: Did you put it in a bag?
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: And in the context of the post Belichick era beginning,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: this is from Dan and Lynchburg. I put together a
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: quick over undergame uh number one number of bro hugs
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: in the Patriots war room visible on the TV broadcast
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: during the draft under two and.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: A hey over these are good Dan, Dan?
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: Got it?
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: Guy? Yeah? Yeah?
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: Over number of long snappers whose average annual contract value
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: will exceed Joe Cardona's in twenty twenty four. He's currently
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: ranked third over under two and a hey.
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: Under those days are all under those days are.
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: The long snapper market is expled loading?
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and number of twenty twenty four undrafted UFL oh
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: UFL wins A team would have with Bill as a
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: head coach, Josh McCanns oci and Jimmy g at quarterback.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Each team plays ten games, so this is the new
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: UFL spring Ley.
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: Oh Jimmy G. They probably do some damage. He has
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: over under nine and a hay how many games do
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: they play?
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: Ten?
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: I just said it. Yeah, the first question was a
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: real good one.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: I swear there's gonna be a new sheriff in town.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: It's gonna be different.
- 1:26:33Speaker 6: I would love to just see Bill coach high school
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: football for the year and make a TV show about it.
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: I think that that would just be hilarious.
- 1:26:38Speaker 6: Like I mean and like that kind of like the
- 1:26:39Speaker 6: comedy of it, all of like all these kids, like
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: bra you know, and like Bill having a deal with
- 1:26:44Speaker 6: like all of the kids.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: Bill coaching tj oh my god, that would be so fun.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Jill, I got that drizz bro.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: Look at that riz.
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: He guys a little pancake thing. Coach, did you see that?
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: I don't know if you're needing person have just.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: Blocked the phones, but you know what, you know what,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: Belichick wouldn't have to worry about parents?
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: Oh God, right.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Can you imagine a parent complaining, you know, my kid
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: doesn't play enough, or you wouldn't have to worry about that.
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: You're a little bit removed from this. Yeah, he absolutely
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: would deal with that if you like, can't think.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: They wouldn't care that it's Bill Belichick.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Absolutely, he might not have to deal with why did
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: you run the ball because people would probably step back
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: and say, Bill probably knows more about football than me.
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: But if little Johnny's not playing and.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: He just lays into Little Johnny when little Johnny can't run,
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: I mean he can't pass.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: If little Johnny's not playing and little Johnny's dad thinks
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: he should be, he's telling Bill Belichick, I will guarantee.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: You Nantucket too, a lot of Nantucket parents.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Oh, Tom and Chicago. As I think about roster construction,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: there are so many ways to approach this thing. I'm
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: fully aware that it's going to take two or three
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: years to really be competing for championships. Besides quarterback, O
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: line of wide receiver, how important you see running back,
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: tight end? The list of priorities we just talked about
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: that tight end is much higher up. Running Back Blake
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Korham from Michigan is someone who would be great as
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: a mid round pick. But I also understand you can
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: solve the running back spots in lots of different ways.
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: I like Blake. Yeah, And I think you know, late
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: day two, early day three, sure.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: You probably just don't. Off the top of your head.
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: I was watching an Oregon kid running back.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: He was I forget his name, but I know he's
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: number seven if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm blanking on his name right now.
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: But see, that's my problem is I watch guys and
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: then I forget their names, and I just because I don't.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: I mean, in fairness, I don't care that much, but
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: there are guys that catch my eye and I'm like, oh,
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: I like that that the skills that can Yeah, the
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: UNH translate.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: The un H kid looked pretty good at the Senior
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: Police Jersey.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Love them Chad in Atlanta, so I've heard grumbling that
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Ben McAdoo has a keen eye for quarterbacks.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: Not sure how true it is, but very true.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: Apparently the Giants tried trading up from Mahomes via mcado's suggestion,
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: and he also was on record saying he thought Josh
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: Allen is far and away the best quarterback in his draft.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: He thought the guy that went seven should have gone won.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: So it would seem his evaluation for quarterbacks is pretty
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: pretty Not sure how we would take that, maybe with
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: a grain of salt, but it does give me hope
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: that they now have legit help in choosing the right
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: guy at quarterback if he's in the draft.
- 1:29:33Speaker 6: I mean, I think they've got I mean, I don't
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: know what you know, Ben mcadoo's doing or you know,
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: but I just I think they've got a lot of
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: voices that will.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: Well, here's the thing, chime in what I want them
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: to do. I'm going to make a suggestion and I'll
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: send it to football Right now, Ben McAdoo has to
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: put who he thinks is good in an envelope. We'll
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: steal it out and then we'll open it up next year.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: Because none of this twenty twenty hindsight stuff.
- 1:29:57Speaker 8: No.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: Well, I will say that I did a little research
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: on some of that stuff, and the is it seventeen
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: Josh Allen draft? Was that twenty seventeen Baker Mayfield number
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: one overall? Okay, let's just say whatever. That year was
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: the year that Mayfield went one, Josh Allen went seven.
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: It was either seventeen or eighteen. I think it was
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: seventeen whatever.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: He was.
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: Extensively quoted in a New York Post I think article
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: in July. So the draft happened in April and in July.
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: So this is before they've played, and he said he
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: had Josh Allen won, Lamar Jackson two, Baker Mayfield was
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: six out of his quarterbacks. Now he was wrong on Mayfield,
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: but the other two he had one two Josh Allen,
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: Jan Jackson. And that was before they played, so that's
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: not fraudulent. You know, it was after the draft, but
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: it was before they had taken an NFL snap. So
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: just you know, I mean, as Fred likes to say,
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: I'll give him as flowers. Yeah, but like he that
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: absolutely was an accurate thing. Now he had Mason Rudolph
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: over Baker Mayfield. Like that one probably didn't come out
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: Josh Rosen, I think, oh, Jeff in Canada, oh yeah,
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: we just gloss over those. I worry about the Craft
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: family exceptions. I know they own this show and they've
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: been amazing owners. I'm just concerned that they'll want to
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: get back to the playoffs asap, which sounds good, but
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: I question.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: If it really is the right plan. One of the
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: sixteen teams in the AFC, we're in the bottom quarter.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: We are not close to competing for a spot. Oh,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: of the sixteen teams, I'm sorry. In the AFC, we're
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: in the bottom quarter. We're not close to competing for
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: a spot in the super Bowl. So my hope, my
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: hope is Wolf and Mayo don't reach and push for things,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: be smart about it, focus on being really competitive in
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: the twenty twenty six season.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: Oh, you have to look at it that way anyway.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: If the quarterback is there, take him. But if he isn't,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: be comfortable trading back and getting a more sure thing.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Don't sign any free agents over twenty eight years old,
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: because they're not going to be peaking when you're ready
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: to compete in twenty twenty six. When does the panel
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: honestly believe this team would be ready to compete to
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: be the AFC representative for the Super Bowl.
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: When they have a quarterback that can compete with Josh
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: Allen and Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes. I think that's
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: the waiting point, you know, and there's no easy way
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: to get It's everything Paul was saying about mccadoo having
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: an eye for court, like it's great.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: I mean like if somehow they got Caleb Williams and
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: everything that people on Paul's side of the streets say
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: are true about him, then they could compete next year.
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: Well, you know, and I think, like I expect I don't.
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: Mean twenty title.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: I don't mean twenty twenty four. I mean twenty twenty five.
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: Uh huh okay, yeah, I mean I just I think
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: that they should be competitive.
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: I don't know if they're going to compete for titles,
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: but they should be competitive. I don't think when by
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: this year. I think they should be competitive.
- 1:32:57Speaker 6: Like, you know, twenty twenty one I don't think was
- 1:32:59Speaker 6: a great team. I thought that team was competitive. They
- 1:33:01Speaker 6: had their holes. But you know, if you can get
- 1:33:03Speaker 6: a team that all plays kind of hard and you
- 1:33:04Speaker 6: can you know, win six seven games at least if
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: you know that kind of thing. I'm just saying competitive,
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: you know, Like, yeah, I mean it's not like this year.
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: They were competitive last year because I mean, as much
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: as I make fun of it, they did have a
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: lot of close games.
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: Yeah, But I don't know. I don't really feel they
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: were all that competitive last year. I think. I mean,
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: we watched the.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: Games, I agree, but if we're just saying six or
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: seven wins.
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: Yeah, no, almost double r up.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Competitive means, you know, the last week of December, you're
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: either in the playoffs or fighting for a spot, and
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: you have a chance to win a game.
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: But the emailers talking about a lot more than that,
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: the els talking about competing for a title. Yeah, And
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: I think there's a huge difference between twenty twenty one Patriots.
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: To Mike's point that he just made in competing for
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: a title, I would.
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: Agree, and I think that that.
- 1:33:51Speaker 6: But you know, twenty twenty one is the model for
- 1:33:53Speaker 6: as we continue to test stack talent and these guys develop.
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: You know, it's not like we got a bunch of
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: free agents and this might be the pinnacle of what
- 1:34:00Speaker 6: this team looks like in this kind of because that's
- 1:34:02Speaker 6: what it was, right And I'll.
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: Tell you the big difference to me from twenty twenty
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: one to now is these teams are better. Like you
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: had two cupcakes over the Jets that you do not
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: have anymore. They are they're further in that rebuilding thing
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: than you are. Now. Again, are they competing for a title?
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: Probably not unless Aaron Rodgers comes back and is Aaron Rodgers,
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: you know, like they have because they have the same
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: problem that you're going to have. And that's why the
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: whole idea of don't reach for the quarterback, just take
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: a good player later. That's great. I would totally agree,
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: but at some point, if you don't get the quarterback,
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: it's not gonna matter. You're gonna be the Jets. And
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: again we've gone over the picks that the Jets have
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: made in the last three four drafts. They've had some
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: really high end hits. Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Elijah Vera,
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: Tucker quinnin way, I they have some really good players.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: And I even think, is it Jermaine Johnson, Yeah, pro bowler, right,
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: like pro Bowl whatever, But he's a pretty good player
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: into the first round, like they eat a Hall, you know,
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: br Breese Hall another one. Yeah, No, I mean, I
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: like if they don't have a quarterback, so they're not
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: a threat to do anything.
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: I just think if you don't get the quarter if
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: you don't get a quarterback in this draft, or at
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: least you don't get one in the first two days
- 1:35:25Speaker 4: that you know you like, otherwise you're taking a flyer.
- 1:35:28Speaker 4: It's like, at least I want to come out of
- 1:35:29Speaker 4: this year feeling like the pieces are in place, and
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: when you know, we have a tackle. Now, we've got
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: a good wide receipt. You know, we got Pop Douglass
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: and this other guy who are That's what I'm you know,
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: and you're like, look, the table is set. I don't
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: know when we know how they're gonna do it next year,
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: but I like the general sentiment of the email, and
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: I think that's what goes into why we all kind
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: of feel like if they had the trade down, you know,
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: messing around with some of the mock drafts, it's it's
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: amazing what you can do with an extra day two pick.
- 1:35:54Speaker 6: I mean, just how much one extra pick in those
- 1:35:56Speaker 6: two rounds, how much flexibility it offers you.
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: Then, other than just having one two three for that league, you.
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: Can get good quickly. It doesn't have to be three
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: four year projects. You can get good quickly. If you
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: just have to be good, you have to hit good
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: at the draft.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: I mean Tony from Hampton Virginia. I have a worry
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: about getting Green Bay's twenty ten island a misfit toys?
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: Do we think getting this band back together is the
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: right answer to build upon? Maybe the sum is greater
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: than the individual parts. Why has Justin Fields talked about
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: as a top fifty fifty trade prospect? I see him
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: no different than Mac or Zach Wilson. You take away
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: his running and he's worse than those two legs go
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: out after five to six years, So you wouldn't You
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: shouldn't be building a team thinking he's always going to
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: be a runner. I wouldn't give away more than a
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: six round pick for Fields. I guess this is a
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: lot of propaganda by Chicago.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: I disagree. Hold on now, I'm not telling you I
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: would make a trade for Justin Fields. But he's a
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: better passer than you're giving him credit for. Even though
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: he's a work in progress, he's far better than Zach
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: Wilson and Mac Jones were last year. I'm not talking
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: about all three years, but in twenty three he was
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: far better than those other two last year, both as
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: a passer and a runner. Lamar Jackson doesn't seem to
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: be slowing down by the way, as a runner, do
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: you think he's about to win his second MVP tonight?
- 1:37:23Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: Is that tonight?
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: Tonight?
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: Tonight? Yeah?
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: And it's more about it's more about being like Mahomes,
- 1:37:29Speaker 6: you know. To me, it's more about escaping and having like, look,
- 1:37:32Speaker 6: when he.
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: Needs to go, his legs don't seem to be given out.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: And there is a guy who's dealt with a lot
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: of injuries.
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: And never and never a guy that has an explosive burst.
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: But you know, like, you don't necessarily need to be
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: lamar fast to be an effective runner as a quarterback,
- 1:37:46Speaker 6: you know, and even as you get older, like it,
- 1:37:48Speaker 6: Fields is just smart and can learn to pick a spots.
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: I mean, I'm kind of generally the same. I don't
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: love reclamation projects, but certainly not in the first I'm
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: not making two rounds of the draft. I wouldn't trade
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: those picks.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: For just I'm not making a move for Justin Fields
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: and then thinking check that's done. No, that's a roll
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: of the dice, Like, can I maybe get a guy
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: who's a little bit closer to being ready than someone
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: I'm going to draft? Like, if you add your choice
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: between Jayden and Daniels and Justin Fields. I would say
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: the ceiling for Jayden Daniels is probably higher because you
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: haven't seen him play yet, right, But the floor might
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: be higher with Justin Fields because he's got three years
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: of the stuff that he can't do to fall back on.
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: Maybe he gets better and he starts at a higher
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: level and maybe he can be good, and then if
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: Daniels doesn't work out, you have the better player. But
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: I agree with you if they want that draft pick,
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: because you're picking so high in the round, I'm not
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: interested in probably the second round either. It would be
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: a third rounder for me too. But I certainly don't think.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: Do you think red like if you had Justin Fields
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: like that solves your quarterback issue?
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: It could, yeah, but you feel like it did. I
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: I honestly, Yeah, I'm with you. I think there's a
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: there's a lot of unknown.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: I don't know. Arthur's in New York. What's up Arthur?
- 1:39:11Speaker 12: And it has to go in guys.
- 1:39:12Speaker 20: I wanted to go back to something spread was sorry
- 1:39:15Speaker 20: Paul was talking about earlier about the offensive lineman and
- 1:39:19Speaker 20: potentially walking down a tackle in the draft. But I
- 1:39:23Speaker 20: just think that it's kind of like a notion that
- 1:39:25Speaker 20: if you take a tackle early, he's a lock.
- 1:39:27Speaker 12: To be a stud.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: No bike if you take I never said, I know,
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: I'm not saying.
- 1:39:32Speaker 20: I'm saying in general like this is like, oh, let's
- 1:39:34Speaker 20: just take Joe all.
- 1:39:35Speaker 10: We know he's going to be good.
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but I do not subscribe to that theory.
- 1:39:39Speaker 20: Yeah, but like when I think about like these tackles
- 1:39:41Speaker 20: going super high in the draft, I remember the twenty thirteen.
- 1:39:43Speaker 12: Draft with Eric Fisher and Luke jokel.
- 1:39:46Speaker 20: Yeah, we're fighting over you know, who's going to go
- 1:39:49Speaker 20: higher there. So I think, really there's no safe pick,
- 1:39:51Speaker 20: whether it's receiver or tight end. So I think you've
- 1:39:54Speaker 20: got to go after the quarterback. And I've called in
- 1:39:57Speaker 20: before talking about how much I love Jayden Daniels, but
- 1:39:59Speaker 20: I wanted to drop a the stats to show how
- 1:40:01Speaker 20: explosive he truly is.
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: Can you can you can you do me a favorite
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: and not do that?
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we got we have other calls to do. But you, Arthur,
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: you have been very good and make.
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: You hang up on him. I would just say, like
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna play the same the same thing, Like I
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: don't understand because there's no guarantees. You got to take
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: the quarterback. No, which one do you think is the
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: best guarantee? Like, I don't I don't want to just
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: take quarterback because tackles bust too. I want to take
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: a quarterback if I think the quarterback is good.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: Who's the best guy on the board.
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: And if they if they think of Daniels the way
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: Arthur thinks of Daniels, I want them to take Daniels.
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: If that's how they feel about Jayden Daniels, then take
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: them absolutely.
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, thanks Arthur.
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: But I don't need stats in college like to tell
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: me the guy's good. I know he's good. You won
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: the Heisman. I know he's great, Arthur.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: I don't know if he's Jaden Daniels Asian or but
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: he should be.
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: I mean seriously, like he just won the Heisman Trophy.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: He just had a phenomenal season. He had like six
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: hundred yards in one of the games. We know he
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: was very productive in college. I think we all know
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: that Matt's in Virginia Beach.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: What's up? What's up, Matt?
- 1:41:08Speaker 15: Hey, how's everybody doing today?
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: Good?
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: Good man?
- 1:41:11Speaker 15: I just had a quick question. We've been talking a
- 1:41:14Speaker 15: lot about offense. I like to shift gears to defense,
- 1:41:17Speaker 15: and uh, just ask you guys, it's a guy like
- 1:41:20Speaker 15: Chase Young, if he were to make it the free agency,
- 1:41:23Speaker 15: how willing would you be to take a look at
- 1:41:25Speaker 15: him and bringing him in you know, he's a wonder
- 1:41:27Speaker 15: to prove it deal or longer term contract.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: I think that to me, the thought of Chase Young
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: is better than the player like he makes plays.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: I'm just curious why why that should be a guy
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: that you're interested.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: I don't think he's consistent.
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: There's a prime of his career, Yeah.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: I was doing some research on him, and a lot
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: of what I've read have kind of backed up the
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: things that we heard of kind of play when he
- 1:41:49Speaker 6: wants to play and one of those kind of guys.
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: So those things a little scary to me.
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: Do you think he's as good as people think? I
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: think what he wants to be, Yeah, I mean, if
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: he is, then I would put.
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: In But I don't know.
- 1:42:00Speaker 6: I just again trying to rebuild culture, trying to you know,
- 1:42:03Speaker 6: bring in guys that are on the uptick. I would never,
- 1:42:07Speaker 6: you know, shoot down a flyer on a guy like that,
- 1:42:10Speaker 6: but to give him a big thing of money, and
- 1:42:13Speaker 6: you know, I'd rather go that kind of like greener
- 1:42:16Speaker 6: direction of you know, somebody who's a little bit more
- 1:42:18Speaker 6: of an all around player.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: Now, if you don't you don't like the player, I totally,
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: I totally rep I respect that I would.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: Take him, but like to make him, you know, the
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: big free agent priority.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: No, yeah, because you don't think he's that good.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I don't think he's worth the money.
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: No.
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not disagreeing with either one of you. Honestly,
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: I'm letting you guys fight that one out. Yeah, I
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: mean I I've seen in San Francisco that sort of
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: taking plays off kind of thing. Well, you don't notice
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: him for a quarter and then all of a sudden,
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: he's all over the place.
- 1:42:49Speaker 4: Wasn't that what the Washington guy said to us?
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: But like, I don't, I don't hold the Washington thing
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: against him because.
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: He wanted to get out of there.
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: Right now, he's playing for a Super Bowl. Like, if
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: he's not motivated now as he's like one game away
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: from being a free agent trying to win a Super Bowl,
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: he ain't ever going to be motivated, all right in
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: that regard, I agree with you, speaking of Super Bowl.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: I know we have more calls. Maybe we'll get to
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: them if we finish up here. But we do need
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: to get to the big game.
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: We really need fifteen minutes for that.
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: We might we'll see, can we say Super Bowl?
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: First we have to go over what the standings are
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: going into the big game.
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: Okay, so last week we all went one and one.
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: I think I read these offs before with a spread.
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: Evan went two and oh and then the rest of
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: us were one and one. So the totals for the
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: playoffs are Fred eight and four. I'm sorry, Fred ten
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: and two. Yeah, thank you, Paul and Evan eight and four,
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: Mike seven and five, Alex six and six.
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: So I've won the playoffs.
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: That is right over, you have clinched it.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: Unless we want to, you know, give more weight to
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: this game, like it's double or nothing or something. Anyway.
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: With the spread, Fred also leads, but he can he
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: can be caught, depending on I think I just using
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: my deductive reasoning, I think I'll have a chance to
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: catch him. Fred is eight and four, Paul and Evan
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: are seven and five. Mike and Alex have been eliminated
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: four and eight. At no point did that make any sense.
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: So now you're just playing for the dumber from having
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: heard that. Okay, may God have mercy on your soul.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: All right. So now the Super Bowl Sunday at six
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: point thirty on CBS, Nickelodeon, Paramount plus.
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: Plus and Univision get a plus at AH so.
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: Various ways to watch. The twelve and five forty nine
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: Ers are the visiting team against the eleven and six Chiefs.
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: Theniners are favored by two two, And.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: The Chiefs are taking this personally why because they they
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: think it's disrespectful. Oh the Chiefs.
- 1:45:03Speaker 5: No.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: I thought the Chiefs are favorite. No, no, no, they're
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: a favorite. But the Chiefs are upset because they feel
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: they're disrespected.
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: I think Fred should win this because evidently he's the
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: only one paying attention to anything going up with this game.
- 1:45:16Speaker 6: I kind of haven either. It's hard to pick against
- 1:45:19Speaker 6: Patrick Mahomes. That's that's the hardest thing right now. I
- 1:45:21Speaker 6: think everybody is now just like kind of accepting that
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: he's really good and that he can single handedly, you know,
- 1:45:26Speaker 6: win win games.
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: With them, but not Patriots fans.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: But I am.
- 1:45:30Speaker 6: I'm going to go with San Francisco in this game
- 1:45:32Speaker 6: just because and part of this, I'm going to tie
- 1:45:34Speaker 6: it back to the three podcast. You know, Bruski talked
- 1:45:37Speaker 6: a lot about learning how hard it is to play
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: defense in the Super Bowl and what a grind it is,
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: And I just think, over the course of a sixty
- 1:45:45Speaker 6: minute game that.
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: Is spread out over close to four hours, probably San
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: Francisco's weapons are just going to be too much. You
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: know that that they're gonna get going. They're going to
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: be the ones with the gas at the end.
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: And I think you got to respect the Chiefs, but
- 1:45:57Speaker 6: I think that in the end that just the overall
- 1:46:00Speaker 6: ount of weaponry that the forty nine ers have is
- 1:46:02Speaker 6: going to be the difference. So I'm going to take
- 1:46:03Speaker 6: the forty nine ers to win this game. I do
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: think it will be close, but I'm going to say
- 1:46:09Speaker 6: San Francisco twenty four Kansas City eighteen.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: Do you have any picks from Alex or Evans?
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: I do Evan actually chiming in? This is from Evan directly.
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: I'm picking the Niners BT dub for my guy Kyle,
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: So I.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: Don't even know what that means.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: Kyle Kyle Shanahan fro offense dub. By the way, Oh
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: Jesus BT dubbs man.
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: I don't know if it was like Buffalo wow woe.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: I was speaking slang. You know you got that Riz.
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: He goes Buffalo, So you have nothing from Alex.
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: Wow, she's just given up.
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: She's eliminated.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: Exactly. Color finish. The race's South Beach, the race.
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: In South Beach.
- 1:46:59Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: I think she's in Miami.
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: It's good for her finish. So I am taking Kansas City.
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: Because I hate Patriots fans and that will make them upset.
- 1:47:11Speaker 3: It is kind of because of hatred, but you have
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: the wrong hatred. Kyle Shanahan, Yeah, I just think that
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: he is such a pompous, douche flame guy. I agree
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: with something Mike said. I think it's awfully hard for
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: me to sit back and think of Patrick Mahomes as
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: an underdog and bet against him. And I think the
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: Chiefs have sort of gotten something going offensively. I think
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: the Niners have not looked good in the postseason, so
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: it's not just a hope pick. I think the Niners
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: really played with a lot of fire and their two
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: playoff wins, and I think against Kansas City, if they
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: build that kind of a hole for themselves, they will
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: not climb out of it. So I think it will
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: be a little bit higher scoring. I think both defenses
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: are okay but not great, and I do think the
- 1:47:59Speaker 3: weapons on Sam Butacisco are great. And I think Patrick
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: Mahomes is great. So I'm going to take the Chiefs
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: thirty one to twenty seven.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: Okay, this is a This has the makings of a
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: really good game, like whether or not you're just like
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: into the flash or into the substance of football. I
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: think everyone's going to be pleased by this game. There's
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: a lot of things we know. We know Mahomes is
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: a winner. We know he's going to play his best,
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: you know, and he's Patrick Mahomes. We know that the
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: Chiefs have also had trouble.
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: But he's against Brady.
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: What does that have to do with anything.
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: We know he's a winner. How do you call him
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: a Winter Fred?
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: Okay, But we also know that the Chiefs have been,
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: you know, struggling scoring points. That's a fact. That's a fact.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: But we also know that the Chiefs defense has played
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: well enough to you know, keep them in games, and
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: Mahomes always does enough when it matters most. So we
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: know that on the other side of the ball. We
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: know that the forty nine ers have a collection of
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: hell on on offense that we haven't seen it a
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: long time. You know, maybe Miami is a little bit comparable,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: but I mean it's just and you know, so that's
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: huge for them, and their defense is okay, it's not great.
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: The one thing we don't know in this game is
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: how Purdy's gonna be because he's never been there before.
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: And to me, that's the key. I you know, what
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: can Kansas City's defense do to force Purdy to be
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: the guy, because that's what I would be aiming to do.
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: Take McCaffrey out as much as we can make him
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: throw the ball, get after him, put him under pressure,
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: rattle him early. So that's the key. So you would say, okay,
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: so you're picking the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 1:49:43Speaker 3: No chance.
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: The problem is, I think I think the forty nine
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: ers have so much talent and Shanahan is a good
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: enough offensive mind that he's going to be able to adjust,
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: just like he did against the Ravens that second half,
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: they kind of ran away with it, even though in
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: the first half struggled. I think they think they have
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: so many answers to whatever Kansas City will throw at them.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: The question is can pretty execute in this game in
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: the biggest of stages. That's the question. So if you
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: don't think he can, you're picking the Chiefs. I think
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: he'll do enough to be able to, you know, with
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: his cast of characters. I think he'll end up winning
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: thirty one twenty four, it's going to be forty.
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: Nine ersty party comes through.
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: Sorry, I thought I would have a chance.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: I thought I would have a chance if I was
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: right and he was wrong, that I could catch him.
- 1:50:39Speaker 15: Yeah, and I do.
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: Yeah, So I gave you But what like your reasoning
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: the things.
- 1:50:45Speaker 4: We know what we don't know? No, it is one
- 1:50:48Speaker 4: thing we don't know, what is brock perty.
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: The figuring it out and changing in the Ravens like
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: you were talking about the Niners and then you were
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: talking about.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: The what do we got?
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: And look who is charging in not out?
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: Whoever they played? Whoever the forty nine ers played this.
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: ALEXANDROF.
- 1:51:03Speaker 6: Francisco, she ways in with a Chiefs upset thirty five
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: to twenty eight. Swifties overwhelmed NFL buying Super Bowl merch.
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: Thirty five to twenty eight. Okay, okay, job Alex No,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: I meant whoever forty nine is played in the NFC
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: game the second half, they just kind of like so
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: they adjusted and they ran away with it.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: First of all, yeah, they won by a field goal.
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: Second of all, the offense was basically consisting of a
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: ball off a guy's face for fifty one yards and
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: then a fumble inside the twenty like the scrambles. And
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: I don't know how the Ravens got into it, but
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: I think he misspoke on the Ravens.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: But no, I just I think I think the forty
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: nine ers have They just have so many answers to
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: whatever you throw at them, and in Shanahan knows how
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: to use it.
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: It's really not what what are we got?
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Time? Yeah?
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: Goo ahead. It's a good offense. There's a lot of
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: teams that have a lot of weapons. You're just not
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: used to seeing them because we get stuck with watching
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: a team that doesn't have any. Oh, Paul, come on,
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: but you you don't think, like, just as as a
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: point of comparison, you don't think the Eagles have a
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: comparable amount of weapons to San Francisco couple. You don't
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: think a J. Brown, DeVante Smith and Dallas godd Or
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: similar to Brandon Ayuk, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: And throwing Christian mcket don't forget him.
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: DeAndre Swift isn't as good as McCaffrey, not even close,
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: but in that realm, and Jalen Hurts is nine thousand
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: times better than Rock Purdy. Like that's the biggest gap
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: out of all of those plays. So, like, I think
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: there are teams that have good weapons.
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I mean, you're not wrong.
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: I just we're talking about San Francisco like that. There
- 1:52:40Speaker 3: were seven pass you know, like this is this unstoppable
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: thing that can't be slow. I saw them get slowed
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: a lot this year.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: The versatility of Deebo Samuel and McCaffrey, both in the
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: run game and the passing game.
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: You know, it's they're good. It's a good offense. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: thank you. There are other good offenses too.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Okay, but they're not in this Super Bowl. But I'm
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: we're only dealing with this.
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: You're talking about the Niners like it's this unstoppable force. Yeah,
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: they've been stopped. They were stopped by Green Bay.
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: They have been stopped two weeks ago. Go back to
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: my point, it's just I think they just have so
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: many pieces that can score quick.
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: And that's what I feel like is going to happen.
- 1:53:17Speaker 6: Nor the end of the game, when it's so hard
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: for any defense to get a stop, that all of
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: a sudden, it's now McCaffrey for twenty, you know, and
- 1:53:23Speaker 6: then Debo on an end around for fifteen.
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: You know, like those kind of things.
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: And that's the other It might not happen. But but
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: here's you know, here's the thing I give you, Kansas City,
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: they've got that experience. A lot of teams that get
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl, they're adrenaline, you know, they're all,
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: you know, ready to go. First half, and then second
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: half you see a lot of points because the defenses
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: are just tired.
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: Yeah that's Tom Brady's then, you know, they're just tired
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: a lot.
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: But I think Kansas City knows that they know how
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: to handle themselves in the Super Bowl. They've got that experience,
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: and it's very much like the Patriots. You know, the
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: Patriots leaned on that experience toward you know the second
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: half of the dynasty because they knew what to expect,
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: they knew the difference between the first half and the
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: second half, and I do think that's huge.
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: To Freddy's point, I do think that if the Chiefs
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: are gonna win, they're gonna need to get out to
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: a lead and then hold on because I think if
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: they get in a shootout and it goes back and forth,
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: I think San Francisco's offense is better. I do agree
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: with Freddy that San Francisco has more options offense.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: But here's the thing that would worry me, even in
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: a shootout late party like he's gonna make that mistake
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: and Mahomes isn't proper.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: Right, But I feel like Mahomes needs to put an
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: amount of points on the board that San Francisco can't
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: get to because of party. Do you know what I mean?
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: If they're able to play the game on their terms
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: and be balanced and go back and forth, I think
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: San Francisco will be fine offensively. I think the Chiefs
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: are gonna slow him down early and get a lead.
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and then and then it's like, do you really
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: trust Rock Purdy to be able to have the Brady
- 1:54:53Speaker 4: last minute drive?
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: You know, Mahomes, we know what you would do.
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: I wouldn't feel great about that, but I also wouldn't
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: feel great, Like you know, a lot of baitis like
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: that throw that Garoppolo couldn't make when they played Kansas
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: City last time. I don't have a lot of fit
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: unless it goes off of the defensive back's face. Again,
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: like I don't. I didn't see much from Party in
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: these two games, and I've been a big Party defender
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: to Evan, right, so I'm trying to be fair. I've
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: kind of been wrong.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: Well, I think he bailed himself out with his legs,
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: which was kind of a pleasant surprise for he did.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: He moves, he moves well, and he did make some
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: plays with his legs when he had to. But he
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: hasn't been good in the games. He's been good when
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: he's had to be. And you know, obviously you'll take
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: that if you have those options, a really good game
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: or not coming through in the clutch or so so
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: during the game, but coming through in the clutch. I
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: think would all take that.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: But all the people that are like, how can you
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: bet against the Chiefs, they're right. I mean, you know
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: that experience in Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid I think
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: gives them, you.
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: Know, so a good one. I think it should be
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: a good matchup. I think the Niners have been the
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: best team all year. Over the balance of the seven
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: team games, they were the best team. But it doesn't
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: matter who's the best team on Sunday.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so I'm excited. I can't wait. You know, I
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: won't be having the big you know gala that Paul
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: will be here. Just be me and my wife, Paul
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: and the dog.
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: Yeah, let's be me.
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: And it's a small g galler this year.
