- 0:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, see, like, I'm just better at it.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_03]: See, like, now you just don't even know where to go.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, now this is just like too much pressure.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you did it yourself.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so can you, okay?
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: We're not restarting.

- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know I like that.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: So what's up you guys?
- 1:04[SPEAKER_03]: If you don't know what you're listening to if you accidentally click Now something you're like what did I click on?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_03]: This is the what's the juice podcast?
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: My name is Alia Zaita I'm one of the hosts over here and I'm here with my lovely husband.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: My name is Yoni Ikoto Why oh and I EKO TO and thank you for spelling
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: I was funny, right?
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was so sorry.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: You had a good talk with her?
- 1:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know what's funny?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: No, let me tell you guys what's funny.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, let me tell you, right?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: I was on a call earlier, you said no.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_03]: I was on a call, somebody called me.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I generally don't talk to people on the phone.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: You just overall.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_03]: We know this.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, even when I call you, you don't answer it.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I don't answer because my phone is on do not disturb And I also place my phone like upside down like a with the screen down So very smart so then I I miss a lot of calls, but regardless like in general if somebody calls me I tend to kind of avoid the call If I and like if I know you in real life
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: If you call me an answer, but in general, I just prefer to not talk on the phone, like randomly.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_03]: Like, don't call me randomly.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_03]: Let's schedule a call.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like, if you want to catch up, if you want to talk, like, that's, that's so you.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: I love a random call.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if I'm just doing something and I see this person calls me to catch up and tell me anything I am down to just answer the phone and be like, hey, just hear what's happening.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then be like, you know what, I can't talk right now, but let me call you back when I'm done boom that's just a responsible thing to do when you just look at a phone and let it just pass by one of that person need to do that moment So that I let it pass by I usually like hang up and then I text and I'm like I really can't talk on a phone right now Yeah, but they needed you in that moment
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I'm telling you most of the time you're going to say just because they needed me, don't mean I'm available.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's not that, but I just feel like we're not about to talk about this again, but the reason why I brought this up again, we haven't talked about this.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we've talked about me not talking on the phone like so many times.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, go ahead.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: So why are you now answering the phone?
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like, wow, what makes you think it's okay to just be like, not right now?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's like you're really stealing my time right now.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm in the middle of something and you have no idea and I answer the phone I disturb because somehow somehow you guys.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not making a shot up somehow.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_03]: I always get a phone call when I'm like doing something like I never get a phone call when I'm like
- 3:36[SPEAKER_03]: Not doing anything and it's all it may be because I feel like I'm doing something all the time Like even when I'm relaxing and I want to show or something as someone's calling me is like, whoa, like I'm in my Chill mode right now or if I'm working that I'm working honestly out the rest of your time to talk
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: I would rather someone call me while I'm editing than someone calling me when I'm free and watching the movie.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Because now you're disturbing, I have to pause the movie and answer.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: But when I'm editing, I'm just kind of like, I'm working.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know, but I can just answer and say, hey, I can't talk quite now.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm editing or just take a two minute break.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: But for the movie and then you just want to what what I'm watching movies.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like I don't like to be disturbed yeah at all.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: So call me while I'm working.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm just like don't call me ever.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: No anytime I call you honestly, I think
- 4:29[SPEAKER_03]: She's not gonna answer, but the reason why I don't answer because I actually just miss, like I'm actually a lot of calls.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: There's actually a valid reason.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why I'm surprised why you haven't even brought that up yet.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the reason why I missed a lot of phone calls is like, yeah, my phone is on, do not disturb most of the day because
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't want to be disturbed.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_03]: Don't want to be disturbed while I'm working.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, just don't want my phone to cause to be like lighting up or vibrating.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_03]: If I'm doing work on my phone, like if I'm editing something on my phone or posting on my phone, and I get a notification, like it's always distracting.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I will get distracted and start doing some other shit on my phone that I'm not, I don't need to do right now.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_03]: So that's why it's on do not disturb.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_03]: But another reason why I miss a lot of calls in general is because I used to have, um, the octobud, which if you don't know what that is, it's basically like a, um,
- 5:24[SPEAKER_03]: What do you call, I don't even know what you call is suction, like tiny little suction cups that are on the back of my phone case that help kind of stick it to different surfaces and that's like a common sort of content creator phone accessory that you stick it on your phone case and then you can stick your phone on like a glass building or like a plastic pole for like a metal bar.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_03]: You probably shouldn't put it on a car, but like you can put it on a lot of like surfaces and it will stick your phone there and then you can easily like take videos of yourself, whether you're on the street or whatever.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: So that's kind of the point of that.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_03]: But the annoying thing about that attachment is that anytime you put it on a table with the sticky part on the table, then your phone gets stuck to the table and every time you pick it up, it goes like, you have to like,
- 6:13[SPEAKER_03]: You have to like rip it off because it's like a section to the table.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_03]: So then I've gotten used to in order to avoid that annoying thing.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_03]: I've gotten used to putting my phone facing with the screen down so then the section cup doesn't get stuck to the table.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Now even though you don't have that case anymore or whatever it is, you're so used to putting your phone upside down that you still do it.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_03]: and you know why too it actually makes sense because right when you're holding like if you're holding your phone in your hand right now you're holding it with the screen facing you okay so then let's say you're sitting down you're on your phone whatever you're gonna take your phone and flip it and put it down it's way more comfortable to put it down
- 6:56[SPEAKER_03]: that way.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_03]: Then if you have it in your hand and then you put it down like it's it's unnatural.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, babe, comfortable or nah, you're not going to see when someone is reaching out to you.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: So let's say I'm outside and I have an emergency and I'll call you 10 times.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's not good.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: You have no idea and it's not even that you were doing something you just simply think it's more comfortable to have it upside down and not seeing it.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, it's a it's a combination of like what just comes naturally and something a habit that I've just gotten used to.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: What I think about me, okay, that's true, but I was gonna say I will be available.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: And you should too.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_03]: You're right.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: You're right up to have to work on that.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and today we want to talk, what's the day we want to talk about today?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: What do you want to talk about today?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: So I have this topic that I want to talk about that we want to talk about.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we want to talk about.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and it's kind of a debate.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if anybody else is having this debate like in, in, in culture in the world online and pop culture, we're talking about big city versus slow life.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we're talking about just the constant dilemma.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't say it's a constant dilemma, but it's like a thing that's been in the back of my head from time to time of just like big city life that we're living living in New York paying rent in New York being around a lot of people all the time over stimulated
- 8:36[SPEAKER_03]: close to everything, busy all the time, everything that comes to the big city, that's what we're at.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_03]: Versus, the slow life.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_03]: You probably, the slow, what is, what, let's define what is slow life.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: Slow life is probably like, where do you live?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_03]: You live somewhere.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: In the southern part.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Outside of the city.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you're not in the city.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_03]: You are probably
- 9:03[SPEAKER_03]: in order for you to like, get groceries or anything like that, you have to get in your car and drive 10 minutes.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's just, I mean, if you just happen to live by the grocery store, that's great.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_03]: Usually in a suburb, grocery stores are not like, like grocery stores.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: Close the house, right?
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like, at least in the US.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: But you could still be, you can still live in the suburbs like outside of the city and happen to live close to a group.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't think that exists.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think it does.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_03]: What do you mean?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'm talking about like, you see online nowadays.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about like, the suburbs and the movies, like the big houses that have the back yard.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_03]: Like have you ever lived in a suburb where the store was closed?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_03]: No, exactly.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was got a drive, but it was just a drive.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: How many is five minutes?
- 9:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like you always have to get in the car for everything.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: Just like walk somewhere.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: So that's one.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_03]: Two.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_03]: You probably don't really see like there's not people like walking on the street.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_03]: There isn't a lot of like you don't really interact with a lot of strangers on a daily basis.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: You don't share your space with a lot of
- 10:17[SPEAKER_03]: People you don't know but sides when you maybe go to work if you work like in an office or in a big building or something like that What else comes with slow life?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously like peace and quiet?
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: You have parking China think you don't have to deal like it's Technically safer because there is no people around I think that's pretty much it
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and you you have your piece and quiet nobody's bothering you maybe you know, you have your own you probably have a bigger place than you would in the city you got a backyard like a house you have a backyard clearly you have cars like all those things so yeah, we want to talk.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: about the benefits of both and about just I don't know the dilemma of like which one is better what's the perfect balance like because you know there are times where like I don't know about you but I think it depends like seasonally too but definitely right now I can't say like I have days where I love living in New York.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: where I love just having access to everything, being close to everything, like, I loved that.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_03]: But in this other days, we're like, I don't want to care for it that much.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but that just recently happened.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like ever since, having moved, we moved here the first year, we were like obsessed.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: Very much in the high of living in New York.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: Second year, we sign a second lease, we in Brooklyn now, a little bit away from the city, but it still feels like the city.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Baby, no, it's not.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a pretty, it's a busy area.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like we don't live in Manhattan.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: So now we're in the quiet.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: No.

- 12:23[UNKNOWN]: No.
- 12:23[UNKNOWN]: No.
- 12:23[UNKNOWN]: No
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's, um, sirens all the time, um, it's the construction, right across the street, every since we moved, been lovely, 7 a.m. all you hear is just banging on the metal.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 7 a.m. was sturdy.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like damn, don't they think people still sleep?
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes like on the weekends to Saturday, and they're just building shit.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's when somebody didn't finish their job, tried it that to come over the night.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, working overtime.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: So the benefits of the city, should we start with that?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_03]: OK, let's start.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: OK. OK, I'll say one, you say one.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 12:57[SPEAKER_03]: OK, sure.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: benefit of the city, so or live in a big city.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: I would say, is if you're a person like me, I love being around chaos.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like he makes my brain flow.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: It makes me just want to do shit.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: It makes me want to be.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: It just makes me want to get things done.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so would you say, because everyone is your nervous system ever gets like over simulated by how much is going on.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, not until I'm somewhere where it's calm and I'm just like, wow, I needed this.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: But in the moment I never know that I needed it, because I'm just like, because when you're in it, you're just in it.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: You're going here, coffee shop here, you go there, you drop off this, you go home, it's like you're just in it, but the moment you step out like the moment we go to Seattle, the moment we just happen to be somewhere outside of the city, it's like the hands.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_03]: Just anywhere that's not here.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: This is so nice.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_03]: Well, so.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: And like you would appreciate the round of shit.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, damn, this tree is beautiful.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: Ehehe.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I think as if we live in a fucking lecture, no bowl or something.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_03]: So, um, I think this is like a big, this is a big, um, it's the energy of the city.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_03]: Kind of is carried through day-to-day life.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: that the energy and the overstimulation and the pace at which we move is it infiltrates life even when you're not necessarily like bopping around the city or like actively in the streets.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: Something about being in New York is also, and being in a big, fast-paced city that has opportunities.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_03]: You people come here with their dreams, and all of the goals and things that they have for themselves, and what they want to do, it's like a lot of people that's why they're here.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: So it's not just that there's just chaos on the street, which is true, and that itself can be a space that you feel creative in, that fuels you in your personal life and also your creative life, but something about also just the idea of New York as a place.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_03]: It carries through in your life that it feels like when you're here, it's just non-stop, go, go, go, go.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_03]: there's no time and we kind of like, I mean, I don't know, I just, I don't let myself have time to just chill.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_03]: I don't let myself, like, I give myself time like that night, like an hour I watched TV before I go to bed.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: Chillin' doing the day, because it feels like everyone is doing something.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care what it is.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone is like, cause for one, it is expensive to live here.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: So everyone here got one or two jobs or three.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we're a lot of one good-paying one, yeah.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: If you're lucky, that's probably not most, I don't know.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of really rich people that live here.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but there's also a lot of just regular people who live here.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, true.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so everyone is just hustling.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever you do, whether you're rich or not.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I just feel like being around that energy.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: And this is on top of people moving here to follow their dreams or everybody wants to move here to see
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: to just to see what it's like, so being around that it to me at least has an artist, it is very inspiring because I'm just like, you see people filming random videos on the street, sometimes you see big cameras, sometimes you see small cameras, everyone is kind of like working or creating something, you know, and I'm not saying those are there's many other jobs than that, but it to me it's so cool to see like a random full-on photo shoot in the middle of the street.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I don't know.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: It just makes you want to be like them people working.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, so it's um, that's why I like it and I need to be here and I want to be here.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: And there's something so there's something like the big reason.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_03]: What really feeds me because you said chaos.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: What really feeds me from living in New York in the city like it is.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: the amount of people that are constantly around.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's the fact that I see because it's like sort of not inconvenient, but it's like living in New York.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of inconveniences in the sense that most people don't have cars.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like to get groceries, you can't really get all your groceries because you can only carry so much if you don't have one of those cards.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_03]: And then if you live in an old building, then you have to like walk up the stairs if you don't have an elevator.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_03]: And then for some reason, like a bunch of different things are just sort of harder to do.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_03]: compared to living in a summer where like having a car or I don't know.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_03]: I just remember when we first lived moved in the city it was hard to just do shit.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_03]: Like we didn't have like a bed bath and beyond where we could just like go get everything and especially if you live like what are we getting?
- 18:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like I remember we were going looking for like pillows when we first moved into our first apartment.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_03]: It was hard to find like they're just because the city's so dense.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_03]: There aren't like huge departments stores everywhere.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: You can't just get in your car and go to bed bath and be on and get everything you need.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: And also you can't carry everything you need.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: You can't, you gotta do like multiple trees.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_03]: Or you have to get an Uber on your way back or like it's random things like that.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I think because of all of these like extra steps and extra things that are actually normal.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: But have become not normal because like especially the U.S. is like most of it is so spread out and a lot of it looks like, you know, and Seattle like you need a car to get around you need it's different but on the east coast because of everything being so much closer and proximity I just love seeing humans doing
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: every day things and seeing them all the time and I love seeing humans just living life in a way that You don't see it out in the open in places that aren't like a city because everyone's in the car when you compare it to LA You don't see that
- 19:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like everyone's in their car.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_03]: Everyone's walking on the street.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_03]: Everyone's sorry.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody's walking on the street.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_03]: You don't see people in their closed fashion.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_03]: Like there's so many little tidbits of what it means to be a human being that are hidden or like just not out in the open for all of us to experience together.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the good example is the subway system here in New York.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: Something I love is just, you could be sitting next to someone who is a full-on suit, go and work, and then next to them, you can sit next to, I don't know, like, someone who,
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: has a completely different lifestyle.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: And also another thing that I think is cool in New York is still in the subway system in the subway where you see people getting stuff like furniture and they would literally take a whole table.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: They probably got it off of someone on the street or maybe like, yeah, they bought it from Facebook Marketplace and they would just take that where they'd to plant table chair right into the subway.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's like some of my own New York is like, you're just going to hustle, like what you're not going to buy.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to order an Uber to take me from here to here and the Uber's going to be just as expensive as this table that I just bought.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_03]: I want to take the $3 subway ride, carry that shit with my friend, and we're going to hustle.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then you set that shit, you know, in the subway, and then you literally just, and everyone, it could be even a packed subway, like in a car, and And everyone, I mean, obviously everyone is looking at you, because I've seen them in multiple times, like someone one time got a
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: huge plant.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't have my camera with me.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: I would have taken a picture of that, but I just think it's just part of life that makes us all human.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, there's a lot of, a lot of times this starts conversations with people like, oh, like, would you get to plant from everybody?
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody talks to each other in New York.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I like.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's so, it's normal, but I feel like in Seattle or LA, it doesn't happen very often, but we'll get, we'll get to the benefits of leaving on a West Coast as well.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about, so you said that you feel inspired in the chaos of all these things.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_03]: Do
- 22:00[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'll just want to, you know, know, there's something about, well, it's and it maybe it's like a different type of, since I'm a photographer, I think a lot of just photography, right?
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: Let's say the alternative, like the slowness is not, like,
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: U.S. suburb, let's say, is like a remote, like land that we bought in somewhere in beautiful, beautiful and like spain, and we built a house there, and like that's just where we live now, and we like, grow food, and like let's say that's the slow life.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_03]: So like that's where we live.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's like we grow, like we have like flowers and the house is like really nice and beautiful and like we make an house and I'm good.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now right now, I have too much energy to, I have too much energy to live that life.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_00]: Now, like I'm not saying you don't need energy to live a slow life like that.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: But how I am and how I feel in my body in New York just works in me.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: I just get energized.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like if I right now, if we move to Spain or Portugal somewhere in the country side, and yes, we build our beautiful home and we grow on the sheet and plant, I'm going to be so bored.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I think it's going to be cool.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be like at first and then I'm going to be like,
- 23:37[SPEAKER_03]: Because this is a cool project.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: Cool project, let's rent a shit out of somewhere, move back to New York, I would not like that.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, interesting.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I feel like.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: But there is, there are places where you can have a mix of both.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like living by the beachside somewhere where there's like a body of water.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think I would like that.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: and maybe you could be like 10 minutes away from the city.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like now when we're talking about like the suburbs but some reason it feels like we're talking about like an hour away.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's just because the US is so big, generally like.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: the countries is like at least in our own.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_03]: I just think when we're talking about slow life, we're talking about like even like Seattle isn't slow life.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's not.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_03]: No, like it's still a city obviously.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's still city and I love to yeah.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_03]: We can't compare everything to New York.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like New York is the extreme Tokyo is the extreme.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Tokyo, I would live in Tokyo right now.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: Today, I don't know if I would live in Tokyo.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe like I would be there for like two weeks.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: I would live there for a whole year, we don't have to talk about Tokyo again, but I would live there for a whole year.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just to experiment, just to see what it's like.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: I know like, okay, what could you do a month?
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: I know you were, but it was also because it's new, moving to a place where a whole year is a long time.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: Every single day I was in Tokyo, I was listening to the album by the weekend called Kissland.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's the second album, and I don't know.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: That was just like, now when I listen to it, I just see the photos we took and I just see the time we spent there.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: was that it was a good time.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I like that.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: I need to be around a million people.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: Two million people.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I feel like what are some things that you do not like about being
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: Again, especially, I mean the mental illness, the things that you see on the subway, like the things that you guys see on Instagram, that says like only in New York City, that she is true.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, okay, wait.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: And it's okay to say those things do happen.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but not a lot.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen a half.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, neither have I because people be DMing me.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_03]: asking like, I want to come visit New York, but it just looks so scary online.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what you see online is natural.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: What you see online is like.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't, this is not every day.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't reflect like what, like I have never experienced any crazy anything, and we've lived here for two years now, and we take the subway all the time.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: So, if you want to come to New York, I got those DMs too, by the way.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody was like, oh, you're right this subway all the time.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's so dangerous.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like as a girl, I don't know if I could like write a separate by myself.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_03]: And also the other thing too, is like the subway is busy all the time.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: We're not, you know what I'm supposed to say?
- 27:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like this people on the subway always.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: I came, when we moved here, I moved here with that perspective too, like, getting on the subway, I was just like, oh, shit, that's that dangerous shit.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: No, I wasn't sure about the subway, and then when I started taking, I would see like a teenage girl getting on a subway by herself, getting off, waiting for the train.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember just looking at these girls and being like, and it's fucked up, but I'll be like, damn.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I used to just think that you don't do that.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_03]: Really?
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: But then I started to see it every day.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like, this is just life here.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_03]: You have a subway in Antwerp?
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: We did.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: But it's something you're sitting like.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_03]: You never took a subway?
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: All the time.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_03]: I grew up with Antwerp.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: We took the subway too.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: Antwerp in New York City is very different.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I guess, but I don't know why I never had that fear.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, obviously, we've seen...
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't scared, I didn't have a fear, but I'm just saying like, well, I guess there's a different sum.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a guy and then for me, like even right now, we walk on the street.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I'm not scared of whatever I see.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: If anything, when we are walking on the street, I am very aware.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_03]: And sometimes I will be walking on one side of the street.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_03]: And then I can see a guy is yelling at the end of the block.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, Mom, be able to cross this beyond the other side.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: And you're like, no, that's fine.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm going to do the thing.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, why can we just be cautious?
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: No, that does happen a lot in English like you would it's so funny you see like it's like yelling so much.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like yelling some like you don't even know what he's yelling But he's yelling and the crazy thing is like what the thing you think about is I'm not gonna make that contact
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not gonna look at them because then maybe they make eye contact with me and they think I'm somebody, because they look at you when they yellin' that you walk by them, they look at you, like they don't just be.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like looking down a way.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes I like to look at them just to... No.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: Just to see your kid do you need something?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you enjoy enjoy the interaction.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_03]: I would say the one thing for me about living in a city is definitely, like I've been recently, I've been really,
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: It happened the other day we were walking a fun activity to do when you're in New York at night is go for a walk and because it's nighttime this might make me sound like a creep but when it's nighttime people have their lights turned on at home obviously.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_03]: So if you walk in like nice neighborhoods and stuff and you are walking on a brown stone lined street, then you can see usually brown stones have like these big windows in the front huge windows like huge I don't know if they're French windows, but like huge windows and if the light is turned on and it's nighttime, you can see very clearly inside.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: And it's very fun to kind of, you know, look into people's homes and see how beautiful the homes are and see, like, what's up on art they have, do they have a shane, the lear, see, like, how deep does the home go because some of those brown stones sometimes are like individual apartments and then others are just the whole thing is one house, but you can't really tell all the home of the houses I've seen.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: And from the outside, those brown stones look small.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you don't think it's anything fancy.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: You just think, okay, cool, this is a house.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: You guys, I'm telling you, the shit is unbelievable when you look in their homes.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: And it's so beautiful.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: And it always looks so, it's never like modern.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like it's always, there's always like these two big pillars, chandelier, the ceiling is so high.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: You can even see it.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_03]: And then, yeah.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_03]: you can see stairs in the back and the character, but then they will have like modernize that the kitchen will be nice, you know.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_03]: These are some beautiful homes and the other night we were walking home, I don't know from where we're just like looking around, looking at these homes.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_03]: And then there were some that were just so beautiful, some already had decorations like there was one that had stairs like going up and then it had like a tiny little elf or something like wrapped around the What do you call the thing that you hold on to when you walk the railing the railing yeah couldn't think about it in English Why do you say it in Romania?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_03]: Balustrada
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: Baaloo strada.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what you hold on to.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think that's what you call it.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so I was around the Baaloo strada Imagine it's so wrong what I just said
- 31:45[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I know, in that moment, I don't know why that image really stuck with me about like a child growing up in that type of home where there's stairs going up to like the next level and the stairs are like nice and wood and then they have these little like home to like Christmas decorations like the elf is always in the same spot for every Christmas and like they probably have hardwood floors that have been there since the home was built and I was just thinking about these things and I was like,
- 32:15[SPEAKER_03]: I kind of like, I don't know, there's something really nice about that, that, like, since that moment, it, I've been thinking about like, I don't know, living in a home would be nice.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_03]: Because we did have a recent episode where we were like, oh, apartment or house.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: So here's my thing with homes.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: I like brown stones, obviously, in Brooklyn, I would love one.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the only thing is they're like four or five million dollars.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so we got a lot of work to do, right?
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: But I would love that.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: I was like that.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: But the other type of house that I do now want to live in.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I live in.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Is a house where the next neighbor is like, far away.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: far away or maybe even just like a minute walk like because the brown stones are all connected.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: So you have neighbors.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: You see people walking down.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a you see neighborhood.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so it's not like you have your driveway and then there's nobody there until you maybe like across the street.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't like the houses where people can walk up to my door and just not going to window, not going on the door.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: And you can do that with brown stones too, but there's usually brown stones in those areas.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: There's neighbors, there's people, there's activity.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: You can't have a single brown stone in the middle of nowhere.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, but you can have a house a very nice house.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, then it's a house.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a brown stone.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_00]: So you can have a house in the middle of nowhere or maybe.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I just don't like the unless it's like a gated community and you live somewhere.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: And like, but even then, like, we'll be breaking in.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so that's not really a concern for me necessarily like I do get the whole like I don't want somebody to have access to my front door I get that but then it was also this content creator that I've been watching her videos in the last couple of months and she just bought a home with her partner.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that's what you want to hold and I was just like damn that's so exciting because then you know also once you like buy property even if it's an apartment But I feel like an apartment it might depend I don't know but I know that if you buy like a home obviously you can like renovate it You can change the kitchen you can change like you can like change that apartment if you buy an apartment
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like the the landlord we had in Yeah, that's like an old building.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know they and they what did they do?
- 34:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I know they like broke down a whole wall and connected like two apartments But there was an old building.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like if this the building and we lived in now It was like you could buy this apartment I just don't know why I feel like you wouldn't be able to change things around the apartment
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, I mean you have to be in a condo in the condo.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, but lately I've just been thinking about how like having a house would be kind of nice
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like a brownstone or just like a house in like a state of New York.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like just not an apartment.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's like we have stairs that go up and we have maybe like a yard.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: If it's a tiny little back yard.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: So nice.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_03]: And then we have, you know, like three rooms, two bath rooms.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_03]: It would just, it would be nice.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_03]: And then getting to like change the, I don't really want to basement.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_03]: You want to basement?
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_03]: for what?
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: To have like ping, ping, pong table down there, something like storage, maybe have a gym down there.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think to wrap it up, obviously there's a lot of, it's hard to say because I have even in Seattle like we lived in a city and then growing up, I lived in a city.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: Me too.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_03]: And, um...
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: As an adult, I've never really lived full time in a slow place, and like a remote suburb, like the only time I did that was when I lived with my parents, but that was out of like,
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm talking, like, I lived with my parents.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: I never as a independent financially and everything, lived and chose to live in a remote, slow, I have a car, I drive here, I drive there.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I just can't even imagine that.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's like, I do that for a year.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_03]: Like, who am I even, how do you even meet anybody?
- 36:44[SPEAKER_03]: Is my thing.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know because I'm even doing my parents like they've lived in like the suburbs for the last I don't even know 10 years at least and How can they meet new people or like make new friends they can't how where?
- 36:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so you're saying
- 37:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm saying it's like, I have a, like, we also, it's this episode is a little imbalance just because we don't have the full perspective like if we had somebody to interview right now that has lived in like a slow remote place where they like maybe they built their own house and then they have, you know, all these different things, what would their take be on.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: this episode.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_03]: But I also think it would be different for us that we should experience it, because I know how I feel when I go somewhere that is quiet and that is remote.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_03]: It feels amazing.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it feels amazing, but you've never, I never spent enough time in that environment to actually
- 37:45[SPEAKER_03]: feel like you've lived.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, to be able to say, I would like to live there.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's nice in the moment, it's a nice getaway.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly, it's like the fact that you're getting away from the chaos and the usual thing is what makes that so special and precious.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: But if that was your all-the-time, like, I don't know that I would feel fulfilled or, yeah.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's just our perspective, because to some people, that is exactly what they want.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: They want some quiet, they don't care about the city, the inspiration, or whatever we said in this episode.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_00]: Just like today, it's like, yo, I love my slow life.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna get in my car, get my groceries, come back home.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_00]: And there is something really nice about that, too.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: I loved having a car.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: But see that's the thing, like, I don't know, I kind of... Having a car is so nice, you listen to me music, you feel comfortable, it's like, when I was driving, that was just like my alone time.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's kind of like a moving house, a moving room.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's nice, having a car is great.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_03]: Having a car is nice.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_00]: But not having a car, living here in New York, most people here, a lot of people don't even have drivers license, here in New York.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: You can be 40, 50 years old, not having a license,
- 39:02[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like it's good to know how to do a lot of people.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_03]: That's like a really important skill.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well, you never know when you've got to.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_03]: When you've got to get, get away or something.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't know, I do feel like, in a way, it would be nice to try it on to just see how it feels.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_03]: Because how do you know how something feels until you experience it?
- 39:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like what if I would actually love to live somewhere that's really, you know, quiet and simple and I have my day to day routine and life and we have like our activities that we do and
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: There's something really nice about that when I think about it, like just thinking about it makes me just calm down.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_03]: Think about what if we lived, like, we're about to go on a trip this weekend, like a long weekend trip sort of with some friends in upstate New York.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to drive around two, three hours away from the city and we're going to be there for.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_03]: a few days and I'm really excited because there's just no how nice it's gonna be for it to be like quiet and chill but it's so different because you don't live there.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_03]: And anytime we go visit those because we're going to like a remote sort of house but then that's close by a tiny little town and every time you go to a tiny town it's so cute because it's always like the only have one coffee shop the only have one bakery the only have like one little dinosaur so good but I don't know is like is it actually that or is it just no everybody yeah but I just don't know if it's
- 40:44[SPEAKER_03]: just romantic like it's romanticized in our minds or if that's actually enjoyable because I can't at the same time I'm somebody that is so like oh I want to try a new restaurant I want to try a new copy shop and all these things that doesn't exist in like a tiny little town.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, is that always the same thing?
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the city is definitely not for everybody, definitely not in New York.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, New York is like the the extreme of of that side and the country side or, you know, the suburbs also may not be for everybody, but I mean, I don't know, I feel like for us right now in New York just feels right.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_00]: And that's it.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what can I say, you know, I feel like New Jersey is a cool place when you can have it's you can live in the suburbs your way from the big city.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_02]: but you're still like super close.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's still super close.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: So coming here and getting your fix and trying these new restaurants and New York is just so alive, you know?
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I love the most.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: I've never lived here growing up in Belgium.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: I always dreamed about New York.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: When I thought about America, it was New York City.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: and how they would, I guess, too.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_00]: So to be here, I mean, it's crazy, actually, to think about when I take a second to just think about, it's like, we actually live here, but it comes with, you gotta take with the good in the bad.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think like the, I don't know.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's also how we feel right now.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_03]: If we were to maybe fast forward five years, we probably have a kid at that point.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_03]: So crazy thing about that.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_03]: Five years from now, we will have like, we could have like a three year old.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_00]: A toddler, yeah.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: Cause five years ago, it was just 2020.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_03]: But 20, 20 isn't feel like it was five years ago.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, it feels like it was two years ago.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just crazy.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't know, like five years from now, maybe we'll change our minds, probably change our mind, who knows what we're going to be.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to be in this apartment, five years.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to live here for that long.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is the only apartment that we have a state in for two years.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for longer than a year, basically.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm down for, I mean, we can, we can, I mean, I was just to say, you can't just try by a house.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: It can't by a house and try.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, let's just buy this property and let's just try it out.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_03]: For me, it's more like, you know, you just see all these different people living their lives like now everybody shares so much online and I see other creators that live in, you know, like, maybe they bought a house or they built a house or they bought one and they're renovating it or whatever and then that's where they live but then they also.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_03]: come go to like a city or like they still make content the way that I do and they still feel inspired and they still feel they still have things to talk about without living in a city, you know.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_03]: But like obviously we'll, I don't know, maybe I'm saying some stupid shit right now.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just trying to think, I mean, if you are this person living the opposite life of New York City, life, let us know the benefits, let us know, like, what do you feel like you're missing and what do you feel like we are missing?
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to hear that.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_03]: And do you feel, do you ever wish that you were closer to a city?
- 44:23[SPEAKER_03]: Do you ever feel bored?
- 44:25[SPEAKER_03]: You ever feel like, damn, I wish there
- 44:29[SPEAKER_03]: Um, or are you like, I don't need any of that.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm good to just be just be chilling, not that you're not doing anything.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, people start going to work and all that.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_03]: We're not talking about like retired life necessarily.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, like just because you live in the suburbs, don't mean you're not doing shit.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like you still gotta go to work.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like you can still a host of it.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't know, but it's something that I've been definitely thinking about, especially, you know, once you start having a family and it's not just the two of you, you have to, you know, you're not just thinking about yourself.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_03]: And...
- 45:05[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, I think there's something beautiful about like having a home getting to build a home that you love and being a space that you love in a space that like your kids like and you know they have like a yard or something like I can I can see that I see that and it's like it's I can see the appeal and the beauty of that but like can we have that in New York for like under a million dollars.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, that's kind of what we've been what I've been thinking about a lot.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_03]: I was on Zillode other day looking at like homes in this area.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: But like apartments are nice too.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: I love a good apartment.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like living in a nice apartment in a tall building in New York.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: I would like that too.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't necessarily want a house on ground.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in a apartment.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's not about the ground.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's a space.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: I know you can have big as apartment.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: You think apartments are always small.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: You can have huge apartments.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can have apartments like huge apartments in kidding me But see it's like we don't think about that apartment usually it's like small like this.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: She does big apartment.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I Yeah, you just don't have like a yard if I could have a my way
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: I would live in a tall modern building in New York and in a big apartment on Floor 147.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I like that stuff.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's a door man.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody can...
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know about necessarily like modern apartment.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you can hear the sirens in the background now, but there you go.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_03]: There's that city life.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think what if though the proposal or the solution is the proposal that we have a decently sized apartment in New York or let's say Jersey.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like a little cheaper and we don't have to pay like the city tax.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_03]: And then we also have like a vacation home cabin thing in a more like in New York you would say like somewhere upstate New York in others and other states you call it something else and it's let's say like to our drive away from the city or three hour drive away from the city.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_03]: And that you bought that.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's nice.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's like kind of old little bit renovated.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_03]: There's a yard.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_03]: You're close to like a town.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's say upstate New York could be like, if we lived in Jersey, I don't know if we would go to New York for this house.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_03]: But you get the you get this vibe.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: So then it's like you have both and you can at any time that you want to get away and you
- 48:10[SPEAKER_03]: Probably or spend like a whole you know you get to spend Christmas there and when you're not there Maybe you like rented out.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like that is the best middle ground Actually, I mean I thought it would I like that
- 48:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, we've talked about this before, but I think that would be.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_00]: But would it make sense to have an apartment in Jersey and then a house in upstate New York?
- 48:41[SPEAKER_03]: Well, no, that's what I'm saying.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_03]: The house doesn't have to be upstate New York.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_00]: What would it be then?
- 48:45[SPEAKER_00]: What would it be then?
- 48:46[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what the suburbs and Jersey are called.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure there's places in Jersey that are nice like upstate.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm just thinking about having a home or a house somewhere because you want to quiet and slow life, it doesn't necessarily need to be on the east coast.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_00]: If anything, get something somewhere else because you are ready.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 49:14[SPEAKER_03]: You already can drive anytime.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: I guess something can happen.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_03]: The point is to be able to go there quite often.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I'm not trying to buy and make a home in, like, Italy.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_03]: And every time I want to go there, I have to, like, get a plane.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know, ideally is like, wherever we stay in the apartment, we have a house, like, we have an apartment, and we have a car.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's nice.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_00]: I like that, you know?
- 49:40[SPEAKER_03]: And then it's like, think about, it's also the whole, like, I'm thinking from the kids perspective, like, growing up with that.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I grew up with, where we have the apartment in the city, but then we would visit, like, grandma and grandpa
- 49:54[SPEAKER_03]: like upstate Romania, and you wouldn't even call it that.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, it's like in in the country, and then we drive there and we get to the house and you have to unlock the doors and heat up the house and and cut some wood and put it in the fireplace, you know?
- 50:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think it's driving up there.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's, uh, I feel like it's going to be very satisfying to have an apartment in the city or like, you know, in Jersey, but then being able to just drive there, whether it's an hour or two or three, it's like, okay, I got to go pick up something from the house or, you know, it's just being able to always be there, you doesn't need to be like, okay, let's get an airplane.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're actually right.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't need to be far.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_02]: no.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, and also like that is already, you have to have a certain amount of like income to even be able to afford to have that obviously.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_03]: So on top of that, if you wanted, then you're like, oh, I'm going to build a house in Italy and then we're going to go there in the summer and then while we're not there, like the house is going to just be there.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_03]: It's like that's a different level of money.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's like one, yeah, that's different.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's different.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, anybody would love to have that, you know, have an apartment there, but that's just different life.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, I would love to, love to hear what you guys think about this.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, when you're young and you're just, it's just a two of you, you don't have kids, yeah.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's easy to make all these plans.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_03]: Talk all this talk.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_00]: But then.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I would love to hear like if you have kids or if you made this step and move from like a city to a place that's a lot more quiet Or maybe from a quiet place to the city like I just would love to hear all the thoughts.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_00]: Tell us your experience.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_00]: How was that because we
- 51:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like I already said before, we're just talking from one perspective.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what it's like to actually live outside.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: It might be amazing and great.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: You can drive to the city that I just don't have the perspective to feel you say that can work out for us too.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I also think we're just not at that place in our lives.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like if I was...
- 52:06[SPEAKER_03]: You know, in my 50s right now, maybe I would be a lot more like, yeah, I've had enough of this city, whatever, like I'm just thinking of my dad and how he's so like I'm trying to I like he doesn't want to go to the city ever.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't want to have to drive sit in traffic like deal with people on the street like he's like I've had enough of that in my lifetime.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_03]: Good night, that's understandable and that's fair and I can understand that, but then he also needs to understand why I want to live in a city.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, as always, you can leave a comment in in the Spotify where you're listening right now.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_03]: If you're not listening on Spotify, go to Spotify if you have it in leave a comment.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: And you can always DM us.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, I would love to hear this.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like this would be actually very interesting episode to maybe ask people to like send us submissions and talk about it.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: Submissions talk about what?
- 53:05[SPEAKER_03]: Submissions talk about what?
- 53:06[SPEAKER_03]: A big conversation with like a lot of people right now.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_00]: Submissions talk about what?
- 53:09[SPEAKER_00]: About this.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm going to give me their thoughts on this idea.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, hey, do do what you want in the comments and we'll go from there.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like if we see there's a lot of activity and a lot of thoughts about this, maybe we'll do like a submission.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_03]: I just, I think the more we talked about it, the more that I wish some like other people with other thoughts could, could like participate.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, people say this all the time when they're sent to the park as they want to see something.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it kind of just feels like if our friends were over, then they would tell us what they're thinking, you know, because we do have some friends that are moving from the city to the quote-unquote slower life.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so we're going to talk to them about that.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I think that's it.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_03]: That's all I have to say for this topic.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_03]: Um, any last words?
- 54:05[SPEAKER_00]: No, any last words?
- 54:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, my brain is still just thinking about how.

- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, spoiler, no, I forget actually, I have, I'm like, yeah, not in the AI episode as in like, AI's AI, only in AI, we're just, we're gonna just talk about it.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that's crazy.
