- 0:02Speaker 1: Yeah, welcome in the jag Zam this mondayn Conuntie Stevens,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Brian Sexton, and John Oser are with me. We're gonna
- 0:21Speaker 1: recap Jaguars Vikings, which was another disappointing defeat but was unique.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I will give them that. We'll start off with big
- 0:27Speaker 1: thing number one, too much, too much time on the
- 0:30Speaker 1: field to the defense. The defense holding the Vikings to
- 0:33Speaker 1: four field goals in that game, didn't let him in
- 0:35Speaker 1: the end zone, and but they were on the field
- 0:37Speaker 1: the majority of the game. Mac Jones talked about how
- 0:39Speaker 1: much the defense played well enough to win.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, uh, the defense played great and the offense,
- 0:47Speaker 2: you know, we gotta do better and starts with me
- 0:48Speaker 2: and those guys fought though, and I really appreciate the
- 0:51Speaker 2: team were having my back. Just gotta learn them from it,
- 0:55Speaker 2: no excuses, And yeah, I definitely wanted a different result,
- 0:58Speaker 2: but I'm gonna keep.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Fighting, fran And they may have given up a lot
- 1:02Speaker 1: of yards, there's a lot of plays, but that's about
- 1:04Speaker 1: the ceiling for this defense. They played about as well
- 1:06Speaker 1: as they could not letting the Vikings and end them.
- 1:08Speaker 1: They still couldn't come away we win.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Yeah, look if I had said three plus four on
- 1:13Speaker 3: tomorrow's headlines today last Thursday meeting, the Jaguars would give
- 1:16Speaker 3: three takeaways and hold this Vikings offense to four field goals,
- 1:20Speaker 3: you would have said win all day long. They did
- 1:23Speaker 3: give up too many yards, but that's what they do.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I mean, we know that this defense is trending towards
- 1:28Speaker 3: being one of the worst in terms of total yards
- 1:30Speaker 3: allowed in Jaguars history. So I think that what we
- 1:33Speaker 3: saw yesterday was them at the very top of their
- 1:35Speaker 3: ability level. And I give them a lot of credit.
- 1:37Speaker 3: You know, they were on the field all day John
- 1:40Speaker 3: forty two minutes and nineteen seconds, the most by any
- 1:43Speaker 3: defense at any game this season. And I think going
- 1:46Speaker 3: back a couple of years, man, they kept playing no
- 1:51Speaker 3: matter how tired they were.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've done that last couple of weeks.
- 1:54Speaker 5: The one thing you would have wished is that theyby
- 1:57Speaker 5: got a couple of the turnovers in plus territory, because
- 2:01Speaker 5: when you get those turnovers and your en zone, you're
- 2:02Speaker 5: saving touchdowns. But the way this offense plays, not knock
- 2:06Speaker 5: on the defense, but the way this offense played yesterday,
- 2:08Speaker 5: they were gonna need plus territory turnovers to create points.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Couldn't get those.
- 2:13Speaker 5: You kind of wonder if that Cisco interception had held,
- 2:16Speaker 5: if you hadn't had the penalty. Now they're in plus territory.
- 2:20Speaker 5: That might have tipped the scales and been you know
- 2:22Speaker 5: so much. The Vikings couldn't come back from it. But yeh,
- 2:26Speaker 5: accredit to the defense. We've been talking all year about
- 2:28Speaker 5: the making big plays and big situations.
- 2:30Speaker 4: They did it.
- 2:31Speaker 5: They almost doubled their takeaway total for the season. So
- 2:35Speaker 5: good on them. Not good on the offense.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Complimentary football the name of the game. Our second big thing,
- 2:41Speaker 1: too little. Didn't see enough from the offense in this matchup.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Mat Jones starting at quarterback for an injured Trevor Lawrence,
- 2:47Speaker 1: just couldn't quite get it done.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I gotta get the scout team reps
- 2:52Speaker 2: and felt prepared. Everyone was on the same page for
- 2:55Speaker 2: the most part during the week. And yeah, it's been
- 2:58Speaker 2: a year or so. USES been playing my whole life
- 3:01Speaker 2: and played a lot of football in this league, and
- 3:04Speaker 2: I know what I gotta do to win, and today
- 3:07Speaker 2: what I put on the field wasn't good enough. So
- 3:09Speaker 2: I just got to keep working and do everything I
- 3:12Speaker 2: can to stay you know, motivated. And confident and leave
- 3:17Speaker 2: the team as best I can. You know, with Trevor
- 3:19Speaker 2: being out John.
- 3:21Speaker 1: We talked a lot about this team starting slow was
- 3:23Speaker 1: the inverse. Yesterday they scored early and then couldn't get
- 3:25Speaker 1: anything going after the fact, and Matt Jones didn't help
- 3:28Speaker 1: himselves turning the ball over three times and the end
- 3:30Speaker 1: of the game and kind of losing any chance that
- 3:32Speaker 1: the Jags had at this. But what is going on
- 3:34Speaker 1: and what does this say about the offense with this
- 3:36Speaker 1: happening again with a different quarterback.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Well, it does you It's it's not a great offense.
- 3:40Speaker 5: And when you put a backup quarterback game with not
- 3:44Speaker 5: a great offense, these are gonna be the results. Most
- 3:47Speaker 5: of the time. Mac Jones was never going to lift
- 3:50Speaker 5: the offense. I didn't think, Brian. I mean, it was, uh,
- 3:53Speaker 5: you wanted him to come in and have it functioning.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I think what happened yesterday was they played a very
- 3:59Speaker 5: very good defense. They were able to I don't want
- 4:03Speaker 5: to say sneak up on it's not fair, but they
- 4:05Speaker 5: got something going early and the Vikings adjusted and you
- 4:09Speaker 5: saw how good the Vikings defense is against an offense
- 4:13Speaker 5: that had flaws. They have a top quarterback obviously didn't
- 4:17Speaker 5: have Christian Kirk Bigsby was out.
- 4:19Speaker 4: You're down a couple offensive linemen.
- 4:22Speaker 5: It's not a great offense, and yesterday a great defense
- 4:27Speaker 5: shut it down.
- 4:28Speaker 3: My complaint with this offense KAI is that it has
- 4:31Speaker 3: no identity.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I mean yesterday when the Jaguars were able to slow
- 4:36Speaker 3: down Justin Jefferson the long drive, right the seventeen play drive,
- 4:40Speaker 3: they converted four third downs, all of them to TJ. Hockinson.
- 4:44Speaker 3: The tight end didn't matter how the Jaguars adjusted. That's
- 4:47Speaker 3: what they do. They know how to do that. Well.
- 4:50Speaker 3: When you look at the Jaguars offense, what do they do.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Do they send the ball down the field to Brian
- 4:55Speaker 3: Thomas Jr.
- 4:56Speaker 2: No?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Do they move the ball to their tight end effectively?
- 4:59Speaker 1: No?
- 5:00Speaker 3: They run the ball effectively?
- 5:01Speaker 1: No?
- 5:01Speaker 3: And I get it. You can talk about the players
- 5:03Speaker 3: who are out, but Doug Peterson's not going to stand
- 5:06Speaker 3: up and make that excuse in front of the media.
- 5:08Speaker 3: They just don't do anything well enough to be able
- 5:11Speaker 3: to play consistent football.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Our final big thing is going to be too bad
- 5:15Speaker 1: because at this point in the season, the team is
- 5:17Speaker 1: two and eight and Brian we had all these high
- 5:19Speaker 1: hopes coming into the year. I think obviously it was
- 5:21Speaker 1: progressing this way. They're not completely eliminated from the playoffs,
- 5:24Speaker 1: but this seems like a lost season at this point,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and it's just really unfortunate that it's gotten to this point.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And felt like you addressed some of the changes in
- 5:30Speaker 1: the offiction.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yeah, wait, do you hear my haunted I'll just say this.
- 5:34Speaker 3: You know, when there's been moments where the offenses look
- 5:36Speaker 3: good and they've lost, and moments when the offense looked bad,
- 5:39Speaker 3: and yesterday we saw that they lost. Same thing on
- 5:41Speaker 3: the defense where they have given up big plays and lost,
- 5:44Speaker 3: and then yesterday when they play at the top of
- 5:45Speaker 3: their capacity it appears and lose it. It's just too
- 5:49Speaker 3: bad they couldn't put some of those together and find
- 5:52Speaker 3: a way to grab a couple of these wins at
- 5:54Speaker 3: the end. Just a few of them, right, I think
- 5:56Speaker 3: there's been six by five points or less. Take three
- 5:59Speaker 3: of those back, and you're not a winning team at
- 6:02Speaker 3: this point, but you're close enough to be able to
- 6:04Speaker 3: talk about potentially playing meaningful games after Thanksgiving. Just half
- 6:08Speaker 3: of those close losses.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it's I guess I'm not as frustrated. I'm not
- 6:14Speaker 5: as frustrated with the close losses as a lot of people,
- 6:16Speaker 5: because it became apparent pretty early they were gonna lose
- 6:19Speaker 5: close games, and that's what they are in the NFL.
- 6:23Speaker 5: If you don't win those games, it's because you're deficient
- 6:26Speaker 5: in certain areas where.
- 6:27Speaker 4: You're not making those plays.
- 6:28Speaker 5: They don't have players who make plays like that. And
- 6:33Speaker 5: I'm not trying to be overly critical. I'm not saying,
- 6:36Speaker 5: you know, I'm not saying guys stink. But they haven't
- 6:40Speaker 5: done that all year. They've lost six games by five
- 6:43Speaker 5: points or less than the final minutes. They're a team
- 6:45Speaker 5: that loses close games in the final minutes. And I
- 6:48Speaker 5: think in the next couple of weeks, when you've got
- 6:50Speaker 5: really good teams on the schedule, they're gonna have to
- 6:52Speaker 5: have heavy lifts to beat those teams.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I think they're two and eighteen.
- 6:57Speaker 1: All right, stalees here on Jagzam coming up after the break,
- 6:59Speaker 1: We're gonna look at the tape as we look back
- 7:00Speaker 1: as Jaguars Vikings from Sunday Dam brought team part by
- 7:13Speaker 1: Field's Auto Group Jackson Mill's premier luxury auto group. You
- 7:15Speaker 1: can head over to Fieldsauto dot Com. Welcome back into
- 7:20Speaker 1: jag Dam this morning. A frustrating loss again for the
- 7:23Speaker 1: Jaguars against the Vikings on Sunday. We're gonna look at
- 7:26Speaker 1: some of the tape and go over what we think
- 7:28Speaker 1: went well and what we think went wrong. So let's
- 7:30Speaker 1: start out early. Josh Heinz Allen taking on Cam Robinson.
- 7:33Speaker 1: That was a matchup we were gonna keep our eyes
- 7:34Speaker 1: on as those two have gone up against each other
- 7:36Speaker 1: in practice for quite some time. But I think they
- 7:38Speaker 1: both had said this was probably the first time they've
- 7:40Speaker 1: one hundred percent gone on each other because in practice
- 7:42Speaker 1: you never kind of go full boar. But pretty early
- 7:45Speaker 1: on Josh Hinds Allen was getting after it. So that
- 7:47Speaker 1: was out bright side of the defense, just like that
- 7:50Speaker 1: was the plan after all. Kind of pushing Cam out
- 7:53Speaker 1: of the way early on and then the catch early.
- 7:56Speaker 1: That was my concern when they went to Justin Jefferson early,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I was like, is this going to be a continued
- 8:00Speaker 1: issue because we saw Josh get in the backfield they
- 8:03Speaker 1: couldn't finish and get to Donald and then for him
- 8:05Speaker 1: to roll out and kind of connect and that if
- 8:07Speaker 1: there was agreements with the you know, the pressure on Donald,
- 8:10Speaker 1: they didn't finish very often. It was more of a
- 8:13Speaker 1: pressure rushing forcing him to throw it, but not not
- 8:16Speaker 1: a lot of sacks.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Well, when a quarterback is if the quarterback gets rid
- 8:20Speaker 5: of the ball time like, it's gonna be hard to
- 8:24Speaker 5: blame the defense for not getting sacked if they're obviously
- 8:27Speaker 5: set up to do that. I thought he did a
- 8:28Speaker 5: nice job of getting rid of it. They clearly harassed
- 8:31Speaker 5: Donald to where he couldn't do things in big situations
- 8:35Speaker 5: that he wanted to do. It felt to me like
- 8:38Speaker 5: an effective pass rush. Brian it was, and you know,
- 8:43Speaker 5: they knew they would have to give up some things.
- 8:45Speaker 5: They wound up giving a lot to Hockinson, but I'm
- 8:49Speaker 5: sure at some point during the week they said, hey,
- 8:51Speaker 5: if we're going to give things up, let's make sure
- 8:54Speaker 5: Hockinson beats us and not Justin Jefferson. It's probably sound
- 8:58Speaker 5: thinking it was effected.
- 9:00Speaker 3: It was affective because Justin Jefferson never had time to
- 9:03Speaker 3: work his way open. I mean that the pressure when
- 9:05Speaker 3: when he tried to set up deep, the pressure was
- 9:08Speaker 3: on him quickly. When he was successful, it was Hawkinson,
- 9:12Speaker 3: hocketson Hockins and Oliver Hawkinson just to the tight ends.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Let's take a look at that one touchdown drive for
- 9:17Speaker 1: the Jaguars yesterday. Tank getting injured early on in the
- 9:20Speaker 1: drive led to Etn and then some other characters kind
- 9:23Speaker 1: of playing in that had been playing hurt as well,
- 9:25Speaker 1: gave Davis and then of course Mac Jones getting his
- 9:27Speaker 1: first start. But when you saw this early, at least
- 9:30Speaker 1: I was hopeful because obviously Tank went down. You never
- 9:32Speaker 1: want to see that. But then Etn comes right in.
- 9:34Speaker 1: He seems to be at a point now where his
- 9:36Speaker 1: injury is not as troublesome for him, so for him
- 9:39Speaker 1: to step in and get you some big games and
- 9:41Speaker 1: play well. And then gave Davis, who's also been hurt,
- 9:44Speaker 1: gets a catch later in this drive. And then also
- 9:46Speaker 1: just you know, as stagnant as the offense has been early,
- 9:49Speaker 1: this was refreshing to see.
- 9:51Speaker 3: If if they were going to have anything work, they
- 9:54Speaker 3: were going to have to have guys like Etn and
- 9:56Speaker 3: Gabe Davis, who had not played well in recent weeks
- 10:00Speaker 3: up to help the backup quarterback. And on this drive
- 10:02Speaker 3: they did. And Macto, yes they did. Maxwell's getting the touchdown.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Very hype about that, I'm sure, but after that, John,
- 10:11Speaker 1: we talked a little bit about this. Minnesota really kind
- 10:14Speaker 1: of just clamped down after that, seeing what the situation was,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and Brian floor is adjusting to it.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Yeah, and I thought the play too, gave Davis sort
- 10:21Speaker 5: of talked a little bit about maybe what Doug was
- 10:23Speaker 5: trying to say yesterday about why Brian Thomas Junior didn't
- 10:27Speaker 5: get the ball. More it appeared that Mac looked at
- 10:30Speaker 5: Brian Thomas Junior on the outside and then found Gave
- 10:33Speaker 5: Davis coming open underneath. You would have wished they'd have
- 10:35Speaker 5: found Maria's coming upen underneath, but it was it was
- 10:39Speaker 5: difficult to get the ball to gave Davis. Yesterday, I
- 10:42Speaker 5: mean to Brian Thomas Junior to stay in that capacity. Look,
- 10:45Speaker 5: I said as of the show, it felt to me
- 10:48Speaker 5: like the Jaguars were able to take advantage of when
- 10:50Speaker 5: Minnesota was trying to figure this team out, and then
- 10:53Speaker 5: once Minnesota figured him out, it becomes tough. If good
- 10:58Speaker 5: offenses can ad just what the defense does. Middling offenses
- 11:04Speaker 5: with backup quarterbacks have a tough time doing that. And
- 11:07Speaker 5: that to me, Brian, I thought that defined it yesterday.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Yes, Yes, Yeah.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Let's look at some of these interceptions because we haven't
- 11:14Speaker 1: seen a ton of turnovers forced by the defense, but
- 11:17Speaker 1: a luik and getting in interception. Early Johnny talked about
- 11:20Speaker 1: some of these interceptions not necessarily getting great field position,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and while that helps to take away a touchdown, this
- 11:25Speaker 1: is one of the ones closer to middlefield. Closer to midfield,
- 11:28Speaker 1: I guess.
- 11:29Speaker 5: I'm not complaining about the turnovers. They had to happen.
- 11:33Speaker 5: They were huge plays. That was not men at all
- 11:35Speaker 5: to be a knock on how the defense played. But
- 11:39Speaker 5: sometimes that turnover stat Brian is you it often creates points.
- 11:46Speaker 5: The turnover stats right when they're deep in your territory,
- 11:50Speaker 5: it doesn't have that effect, but it certainly keeps points
- 11:52Speaker 5: off the board.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 3: So they were playing on their heels, essentially, they were
- 11:57Speaker 3: just trying to hang in. There was a great play
- 11:59Speaker 3: by Tyson Campbell, who had an outstanding day working against
- 12:02Speaker 3: the game's best receiver. It was the drag wars just
- 12:06Speaker 3: like holding allo, and that's the difference. This is a
- 12:10Speaker 3: team that's holding on and trying to find a way
- 12:14Speaker 3: against teams that don't Well, they don't have to back down.
- 12:16Speaker 3: They can just keep coming.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Let's come back, Let's take a look at bust aground
- 12:21Speaker 1: got an interception, and he's someone that I said wasn't
- 12:23Speaker 1: getting enough. I decided wasn't. Yeah, because I'm in charge,
- 12:27Speaker 1: I decided wasn't getting enough playing time. And I looked
- 12:29Speaker 1: at the plays on the game sheet yesterday and he
- 12:34Speaker 1: about split time with Darby, which is better percentage than
- 12:37Speaker 1: what we saw the week before. And he comes through
- 12:38Speaker 1: and gets the interception in the end zone, and I think,
- 12:42Speaker 1: for I've just been impressed with what Monterk has done.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I like to see him on the field more so
- 12:47Speaker 1: in terms of him having the success. It couldn't have
- 12:49Speaker 1: been more happy.
- 12:50Speaker 3: If you want to feel good about some young players,
- 12:52Speaker 3: he's won. I've said it seven times. I'll say it
- 12:55Speaker 3: to night. Trey Prince is another one that you hope
- 12:57Speaker 3: by next year is making this kind of a move
- 13:00Speaker 3: into the lineup and a guy that you can count on.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Monterrey Brown has earned the right to be on the
- 13:07Speaker 3: field more often. You were correct.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Here's what she liked about Montero. He's not perfect.
- 13:12Speaker 5: I don't think he's a pro Bowl level corner, but
- 13:16Speaker 5: when he gives something up, it doesn't affect him moving forward.
- 13:21Speaker 5: He keeps playing hard what you have to do as
- 13:23Speaker 5: a young player. It's what you have to do as
- 13:25Speaker 5: a cornerback in this league, frankly, because you're not gonna
- 13:26Speaker 5: play perfectly. I thought the pass rush deserved a little
- 13:29Speaker 5: credit on that Donald interception. There looked like there may
- 13:34Speaker 5: where they got to him on that play. Looked like
- 13:36Speaker 5: it affected him a little bit through, a little bit behind,
- 13:37Speaker 5: and Montera did what you have to do.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Defensive backs rarely.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Intercept good passes, but they have to be there when
- 13:45Speaker 5: it's a bad pass, and Montera did a nice job
- 13:47Speaker 5: of Again, so few times this year have they taken
- 13:52Speaker 5: advantage of opportunities, and they did yesterday.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Donald Savage got an interception and then we saw Kim
- 13:57Speaker 1: Robinson coming a little late with a hit. Got a
- 13:59Speaker 1: flag on that as well. For safety play that we
- 14:01Speaker 1: have thought has not been good in this game. They
- 14:03Speaker 1: came across and obviously forcing turnovers is always big, but
- 14:07Speaker 1: I think Darneld Savage, who played one hundred percent of
- 14:09Speaker 1: the plays on defense, came through big.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Here Again, you could tell they're not a perfect pass
- 14:15Speaker 5: from my angle deep in the press box.
- 14:17Speaker 4: As soon as they let the ball go, you thought
- 14:19Speaker 4: this should be a pick.
- 14:21Speaker 5: But so many times this year that play has been
- 14:24Speaker 5: a throw your pen down.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Oh man, they almost had it.
- 14:27Speaker 5: They did it yesterday, and that's where the defense deserves credit.
- 14:32Speaker 4: They given opportunities, they made play.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Sam Donovan's had a really good year in reclaiming his
- 14:37Speaker 3: career in Minnesota. He had a really bad day.
- 14:39Speaker 1: He did not have a great day. This was not
- 14:41Speaker 1: helpful for that comeback story, and we have to get
- 14:44Speaker 1: to it. At the end of the game. Mac Jones
- 14:46Speaker 1: fumble and two interceptions ended up costing them on offense. Yeah,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I think this one might have been a miscommunication with
- 14:54Speaker 1: him Mitch Morse there, but you know, no excuses. Obviously,
- 14:56Speaker 1: they've been working together all week and all seasons since
- 14:59Speaker 1: he got here in the offseason. And then just both
- 15:02Speaker 1: of the picks. I mean, I've seen this happen with
- 15:05Speaker 1: Mac Jones before. Obviously in New England, the frustration factor
- 15:10Speaker 1: is always going to be there.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I think we'll need to We didn't.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Get our answer on what happened on the last play,
- 15:15Speaker 1: but some of those balls going and gave Davis. I'm
- 15:18Speaker 1: curious where the miscommunication was on which end.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Well, I think you get a situation where your backup quarterback.
- 15:25Speaker 5: And this is the troop of Ladaback, of course, and
- 15:26Speaker 5: that's just Mac can play in control early in the
- 15:30Speaker 5: game when you're not pressured to go make a play.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Late in the game, when there was pressure to go
- 15:36Speaker 5: make a play because you're running out of time, you
- 15:38Speaker 5: had to go win some of the throws that get
- 15:41Speaker 5: forced that the starter can make harder for the backup
- 15:45Speaker 5: to make it.
- 15:46Speaker 4: That felt like that to me yesterday.
- 15:48Speaker 3: You know, in both cases there was a receiver underneath
- 15:51Speaker 3: and he wasn't willing to take that even there where
- 15:54Speaker 3: there were you know what, five six minutes left when
- 15:57Speaker 3: he threw the first interception, he was going for the
- 15:59Speaker 3: whole ball wax to day Davis, which I don't think
- 16:03Speaker 3: that's his game, certainly wasn't yesterday, though.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Stay with us. We're gonna have hot takes coming up
- 16:08Speaker 1: after the break. Here on jackson For eleven years, dream

- 16:23Speaker 1: here on jagsam on a Monday, not a victory Monday, unfortunately,
- 16:26Speaker 1: as the Jaguars lost to the Vikings yesterday, and I'm
- 16:29Speaker 1: sure we all have many opinions today, but we're gonna
- 16:31Speaker 1: give you our hot take. So Brian Lenne, you take
- 16:33Speaker 1: us off.
- 16:34Speaker 3: I'm going with this is as bad as it gets.
- 16:36Speaker 3: You know, you are playing right now with your backup quarterback,
- 16:40Speaker 3: and you don't know when your starting quarterback is going
- 16:43Speaker 3: to be back on the field, if he's going to
- 16:45Speaker 3: be back on the field this season. You're getting ready
- 16:47Speaker 3: to head to Detroit where you're facing the best team
- 16:50Speaker 3: in the NFC and one of the best teams in football.
- 16:56Speaker 3: And you've got a team that you know, they play
- 16:59Speaker 3: well on defense and they don't win. They play well
- 17:02Speaker 3: on offense in some games and they don't win. I mean,
- 17:04Speaker 3: it just seems as if this is the absolute worst
- 17:07Speaker 3: case scenario for a season that was thought to be
- 17:10Speaker 3: so much better than this. You know, I also have
- 17:13Speaker 3: some reservations. You're playing without your quarterback, which means that
- 17:16Speaker 3: your hot young receiver is not getting his best right.
- 17:20Speaker 3: It means that your offensive line and your skill position players,
- 17:23Speaker 3: you're just you're wasting the second half of this season
- 17:28Speaker 3: in this circumstance. And I don't know what could be
- 17:30Speaker 3: worse than that, except maybe the coach losing his patients
- 17:32Speaker 3: with the media and making it seem as if it's
- 17:36Speaker 3: all on fire right now.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not sure my take is as hot as that,
- 17:45Speaker 5: because frankly, I had a tough time coming up with
- 17:47Speaker 5: a hot take, because you know, hot takes are usually
- 17:51Speaker 5: when you're sort of angry and frustrated, and I guess
- 17:53Speaker 5: I'm not that frustrated the team anymore because I kind
- 17:57Speaker 5: of see what they are. So it's a weird, frustrating season.
- 18:00Speaker 5: This was a new level of weird and it's kind
- 18:02Speaker 5: of obvious. I feel bad about the hot take, but maybe.
- 18:06Speaker 4: I had a bad day too.
- 18:07Speaker 5: But it was the weirdest game because you didn't really
- 18:12Speaker 5: feel Brian, like I didn't walk out of that game thing.
- 18:15Speaker 5: And they deserve to win, No, they played well enough
- 18:18Speaker 5: to win in spots and four hundred yards to one
- 18:23Speaker 5: hundred and forty.
- 18:24Speaker 4: It was one.
- 18:26Speaker 5: I guess the saving grace is we won't forget that one,
- 18:30Speaker 5: and there'll be some games coming up that I'll bet
- 18:32Speaker 5: we forget because it feels like what you're talking about,
- 18:34Speaker 5: it's going to be a little bit of a lost
- 18:38Speaker 5: time because there's nothing to hang your hat on. Even
- 18:41Speaker 5: writing that game last night, right, there's no Trevor Lawrence
- 18:44Speaker 5: who sorted the identity of the team, So it just
- 18:47Speaker 5: sort of feels like, eh, and move on.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Listen. I walked from the Upper West Club over here
- 18:54Speaker 3: to do postgame radio, and it took me twenty five
- 18:57Speaker 3: minutes to get here yesterday because so many people wanted
- 19:01Speaker 3: to stop and talk, and the underwriting that's you talking.
- 19:06Speaker 3: No no, no, no, no, no. I didn't know. I
- 19:08Speaker 3: knew none of these people, right, Sometimes I know some
- 19:10Speaker 3: of the folks. But the point was they kept asking
- 19:13Speaker 3: what could go wrong next? And I didn't have an answer.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Say, you're saying as bad as it gets, I hope you.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Are for right, So I didn't have an answer for it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: It can go sou Mine was about Mac Jones starting yesterday.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I think that proved a lot to the team, and
- 19:29Speaker 1: we talked about this earlier a little bit. But there's
- 19:32Speaker 1: no identity for this team. There's nothing you can hang
- 19:35Speaker 1: your hat on other than maybe Trevor Lawrence's consistency or
- 19:37Speaker 1: at least his level of you know, kind of his
- 19:40Speaker 1: control over the team and his knowledge of the team.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Because there's no consistency there. There's nothing you do well,
- 19:44Speaker 1: there's nothing you can say, Hey, we can do this,
- 19:47Speaker 1: no matter what I know, we can do this. And
- 19:49Speaker 1: with Mac Jones in the game, you can't say that
- 19:51Speaker 1: it's just Trevor's felt. You can't blame the quarterback because
- 19:53Speaker 1: there's nothing around him that's really working either. And whether
- 19:56Speaker 1: that's something you need to change with the scheme, something
- 19:59Speaker 1: you need to change in terms of personnel or what
- 20:01Speaker 1: it is going forward. Nothing quite working right now.
- 20:05Speaker 4: So stay with us.
- 20:06Speaker 1: We're gonna talk to you what's going on the rest
- 20:08Speaker 1: of the week here as they get ready to take
- 20:10Speaker 1: on the line for next Sunday. Tags fans, if you

- 20:27Speaker 3: What was the play? What was supposed to happen on
- 20:30Speaker 3: the final Mac interception if he didn't get hit grow
- 20:33Speaker 3: the pick?
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not going to go through the details of
- 20:36Speaker 1: the play because you guys wouldn't figure it out. But
- 20:39Speaker 1: we're going to look at the tape tomorrow and and uh,
- 20:41Speaker 1: we'll make those corrections Doug Peterson yesterday when asked about
- 20:47Speaker 1: that final play, that interception that Mac Jones through and
- 20:50Speaker 1: didn't quite get a clear answer on that, Brian, but
- 20:52Speaker 1: maybe we'll get one today. No.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I I listened that when I when I heard him
- 20:59Speaker 3: say that, I went, oh, boy, cause now he's part
- 21:02Speaker 3: of the story, right, And it's the frustration. And I
- 21:06Speaker 3: get it, it's an emotional game, but that was the
- 21:09Speaker 3: one that made me go. And I don't think it's
- 21:11Speaker 3: gona get worse than this. I think this is the
- 21:13Speaker 3: low point of the season.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Yes, somebody asked me what I thought of his interaction
- 21:17Speaker 5: with media.
- 21:18Speaker 4: I said it, I think we have a frustrated head coach. Yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 4: I'd be frustrated too.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Frustration all around.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I think that's fair to say.
- 21:27Speaker 1: We will be back with you, frustration or not on Wednesday,
- 21:29Speaker 1: as this team gets ready to take on the Lions
- 21:32Speaker 1: before they're bye week. So we'll see you on Wednesday morning.
