- 0:07Speaker 1: ball and they are were a whistle?
- 0:10Speaker 2: So yees, too bad? But what did you expect? It's
- 0:13Speaker 2: a podcast call twenty five whistles, twenty wine wheel, oh
- 0:19Speaker 2: that while let's go twenty five whistles, presented by Draft
- 0:23Speaker 2: Kings Sportsbook, an official sports betting partner of the NFL.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Download the DraftKings app and use the code Bobby sports
- 0:28Speaker 2: to get it on the action. It's been a pretty
- 0:31Speaker 2: pissport sports week for us. Uh so we're gonna do
- 0:34Speaker 2: something positive in a minute. Oh cool, love it. We
- 0:37Speaker 2: need it. We're all freaking losers and that's okay. I
- 0:40Speaker 2: was talking to one of the guys, big executives DraftKings
- 0:43Speaker 2: and he was like, I was listening to your biggest
- 0:45Speaker 2: college rivalries. I felt like it was a little SEC skewed.
- 0:48Speaker 2: What are you talking about? Texas Oklahoma is not SEC.
- 0:51Speaker 2: They may be going to the SEC. I said, Army Navy,
- 0:54Speaker 2: not SEC. Correct.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I did the Battle of the Pines steaming at Foston
- 0:58Speaker 1: Sammuson State not SEC.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Don't I never heard of those schools. So there you go.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Are they real?
- 1:03Speaker 2: They are real? So yeah, it really gets down to it,
- 1:07Speaker 2: Ohio State, Michigan not at all. What are the ones
- 1:12Speaker 2: that I picked though, because those are three the five
- 1:15Speaker 2: unless I just did it, not three?
- 1:16Speaker 4: And then you did Alabama Auburn excellent rivalry.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah that's sec though, Who cares. I'm just saying the
- 1:24Speaker 1: Draft Kings argument.
- 1:25Speaker 2: No, I'm gonna give you a Draft Kings argument right here.
- 1:28Speaker 2: They're being haters. But they did give me a hard
- 1:30Speaker 2: time too about missing parlays. And I'm like, look, I say,
- 1:33Speaker 2: here's the thing. I'm trying hard as I can, but
- 1:36Speaker 2: you can follow me on the app and see every
- 1:37Speaker 2: bet I make. And I'm up so the one parlor
- 1:40Speaker 2: and we have a different philosophy this year. We're going
- 1:42Speaker 2: to do this this week. Excuse me, but anyway, okay, but.
- 1:45Speaker 1: But see that's the thing, Like a lot of people
- 1:47Speaker 1: do these parlays on DraftKings. I've bet some of those
- 1:51Speaker 1: I didn't hit a few times on some of those.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I think there was one. Matthew Berry did one. It
- 1:57Speaker 1: just must be way off.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It's okay. Yeah, And if you want like the big picture,
- 2:01Speaker 2: you can get with me and follow on the Draftings
- 2:03Speaker 2: app and see everything.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I bet that's right. Where are they out of? Where's
- 2:06Speaker 1: DraftKings out of your brain? WHOA Boston?
- 2:09Speaker 2: That's deep? Okay? So then the East Yeah, Boston.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I we should have done Boston College versus.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Oh that's what it like, New Hampshire Yale. Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So coming up later Kansas State All American offensive lineman
- 2:23Speaker 2: Cooper BB and coach Chris Clemon. So that was awesome.
- 2:26Speaker 2: So we'll get to that in a second. It was
- 2:27Speaker 2: also coach's birthday while we were there. Yes, it was,
- 2:30Speaker 2: and I wonder if you went to dinner and what
- 2:32Speaker 2: does he on us? Were like, coach god on us,
- 2:36Speaker 2: we'll reimbursia. So you're gonna do friends. Texas lost, that's
- 2:43Speaker 2: Mike D's team. It's a miserable loss. The Patriots they
- 2:46Speaker 2: even have eleven guys Anymore, I don't think it's been
- 2:48Speaker 2: a bad season. A couple of weeks, I mean humiliating, Eddie. Yeah, Cowboys, Cowboys, Uh,
- 2:55Speaker 2: they look like they did know how to play football.
- 2:57Speaker 2: At least you've had. You're having a decent season. Though
- 2:58Speaker 2: we were, we were, I still can't. And for me,
- 3:02Speaker 2: it's been really rough with Arkansas, really rough, where I'm
- 3:04Speaker 2: just sad all the time. So what I want is
- 3:06Speaker 2: something positive from your sports world that you can share,
- 3:08Speaker 2: so we can switch it up. So Eddie, I'll go
- 3:10Speaker 2: to you first.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Okay, okay, So on NBA two K I on our
- 3:14Speaker 1: Eras League, you're the Mavericks. I got the Mavericks. I
- 3:17Speaker 1: somehow ended up with the Mavericks.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I finally played with my team. Dude, nineteen ninety two
- 3:24Speaker 1: thousand and one. Mavericks is amazing. I know Dirk I
- 3:27Speaker 1: want he could. I mean, he could drop threes. You
- 3:30Speaker 1: don't even have to hit a full meter for him.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm doing the same thing with Walle.
- 3:33Speaker 2: He's erbiek who's not even as good as Dirk, and
- 3:36Speaker 2: you don't have to full meter and sometimes he goes
- 3:37Speaker 2: in and I'm like, oh my god, I know, it's
- 3:38Speaker 2: so crazy. I wanted Dirk and Steve Nash. That's awesome
- 3:41Speaker 2: team that you have. Yeah, man, the team's really really good.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You may can win a championship. I've already played four
- 3:46Speaker 2: games and I'm three and one. Oh good. I lost
- 3:49Speaker 2: this morning. Uh oh before work. I played something like
- 3:52Speaker 2: three in the morning. I play the Lakers. They've got
- 3:54Speaker 2: two ninety eight Shaq and Kobe. I lost an overtime,
- 3:59Speaker 2: and so I'm like seven and one or something. But
- 4:02Speaker 2: I'm the Nashville nostalgia were playing Steve Brokele Arena, and
- 4:06Speaker 2: it's just all stuff in the nineties, the two thousands
- 4:08Speaker 2: on our jerseys. I thought it was kind of fun.
- 4:10Speaker 2: That's awesome. Yeah, good for you. Well, let's let's get
- 4:12Speaker 2: a game, all right. Yeah, that's positive. Good for you, Kevin.
- 4:15Speaker 3: For me, it'd be fantasy football for once.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I started off rough, have Justin Fields as my quarterback
- 4:19Speaker 4: for a couple of weeks, not very good.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Now he's what number.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Three two weeks in a row. He's been crushing eight
- 4:26Speaker 2: in two weeks.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I've won them both.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I got a chain eight Chan however you say it
- 4:29Speaker 4: now he's hurt, but that's okay. I got Saquon coming back,
- 4:32Speaker 4: won a couple in a row. I got a little
- 4:34Speaker 4: momentum going.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Good for you, and I'm happy. Good for you. Yeah, Mike, Well,
- 4:38Speaker 2: I'm not in football right now at all. He just quits.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I feel it. I feel you. But being from Dallas,
- 4:44Speaker 2: I'm also a fan of the Texas Rangers, who are
- 4:46Speaker 2: crushing it right now. They just swept the Baltimore Yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 2: and I'm watching baseball for the first time ever. I
- 4:51Speaker 2: felt bad for Baltimore. They won one hundred and one
- 4:53Speaker 2: games and they're just perennial losers. And I mean that
- 4:57Speaker 2: in a loving way. Yeah forever. Yeah, I mean that
- 5:00Speaker 2: is somebody who was who was a been a Cups
- 5:02Speaker 2: fan of his whole life, and I I just know
- 5:04Speaker 2: losing forever, forever, forever, and so I feel terrible for them.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I wanted to beat the Rangers because I wanted to
- 5:08Speaker 2: see Baltimore win. They won a hundred. I mean, it's just.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I'm alone someone he didn't die win for Andrew Jones.
- 5:19Speaker 1: There we go, Andrew Jones win it for Dale Murphy
- 5:23Speaker 1: the Orioles.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Bil Murphy was a brave Oh it is an
- 5:27Speaker 2: Oriole too. I think I don't remember Del Murphy playing
- 5:29Speaker 2: with Orioles ever. You could back finally, be right. All
- 5:33Speaker 2: I remember is Dale Murphy TBS early days. I don't Baltimore.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I don't know that Eddie Murray. I think that's who
- 5:42Speaker 2: I'm thinking of. Murray. They're totally different. Yeah, I know,
- 5:46Speaker 2: but Eddie Murphy, Jil Murphy is a white, skinny outfielder.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Eddie Murray is kind of a more built, power hitting
- 5:54Speaker 2: black guy. Remember Rockies, Phillies, and Braves, So he's never
- 5:57Speaker 2: on the Orioles. The Orioles, Murray, that's what I was
- 6:01Speaker 2: thinking of. Billy Ripkin.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's Cayl's brother with a card that was awesome.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Sick on the bottom of the bat. Do you remember that, Kevin?
- 6:10Speaker 2: About that his baseball card. He's on the bat on
- 6:13Speaker 2: his shoulder and it says if you sick seeking in
- 6:14Speaker 2: the bottom of the bat drawn.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Really it was an error card that was worth a
- 6:18Speaker 1: lot of money, but.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I think it was actually written on the bat and
- 6:20Speaker 2: then they took it off once they realized they'd printed it.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Day.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it was awesome.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That'd be cool.
- 6:25Speaker 2: What's going on for me right now is Arkansas basketball
- 6:28Speaker 2: ranked twelve in the ESPN poll to start the year.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Let's go very excited about that. I wish I were
- 6:34Speaker 2: excited about football, and I still have. If we go
- 6:36Speaker 2: and win every game, I'll still be like that a
- 6:37Speaker 2: pretty good year. But even if we win every game out,
- 6:40Speaker 2: we'd still end up with eight wins, and I really
- 6:43Speaker 2: thought we'd win nine or ten ten on a really
- 6:49Speaker 2: great catching a couple of breaks. But if we can
- 6:51Speaker 2: win out. Okay, but it's kind of sad. I bet
- 6:55Speaker 2: the over under on DraftKings at seven.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Hey for Alabama Arkansas.
- 7:00Speaker 2: No, for the wins for the year, A couple of
- 7:03Speaker 2: the wins for the year. I did that at seven.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I did Vanderbilt at three.
- 7:07Speaker 3: What is that right now?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Three?
- 7:08Speaker 2: I think they have two. I don't know. I don't
- 7:11Speaker 2: look because then I just get sad. I start doing
- 7:13Speaker 2: the math. You don't look before you bet. I do
- 7:15Speaker 2: before I bet, but then I don't look again until after.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And then because of the futures I put on this week,
- 7:19Speaker 2: I've got a future now on the Ravens, the Cowboys,
- 7:23Speaker 2: and the Eagles.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Ravens, Cowboys, yeah, the Eagles ones that.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It's like I would do all the forty nine ers.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I just feel like that's they're probably gonna win. I'm
- 7:34Speaker 2: not gonna make that much money. I would let them
- 7:36Speaker 2: lose a little bit and let that Let those go
- 7:38Speaker 2: out there.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Kevin, Vanderbilt has won two games.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so what's your schedule? Look like I need one more?
- 7:45Speaker 3: To just push Georgia this week?
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah they won't.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Okay, loose Ole Miss, lose Auburn, lose South Carolina, lose.
- 7:54Speaker 3: See that's it.
- 7:57Speaker 2: That's tough. Maybe they could do that last year and
- 7:59Speaker 2: like one out.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I lost the UNIV hurt.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go, bandy.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I tell you I saw a coach's dad my son's
- 8:08Speaker 1: basketball game, no base baseball game.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah, like four times? Did you tell us on the show?
- 8:12Speaker 2: I think, so okay, then you should tell us again,
- 8:15Speaker 2: like I didn't know. Sorry, okay, man, no, what's up?
- 8:17Speaker 1: So I was at my kid's baseball game and I
- 8:19Speaker 1: was wearing my Vandy football shirt and this man comes
- 8:21Speaker 1: up and he's like, hey, cool shirt, and I'm like,
- 8:23Speaker 1: thank you. I just stood there and he's like, so
- 8:25Speaker 1: you a fan and I was.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Like, well, I'm not not a fan. You know. Me
- 8:29Speaker 2: and me and a buddy we do.
- 8:30Speaker 1: A sports podcast and and went a video thing.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Then we went to Vanderbilt and did a thing with them.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Oh that's cool, watch a little more baseball. And then goes, well,
- 8:40Speaker 1: my son's the coach there, and I was like, what
- 8:43Speaker 1: you could.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Have led with that. You're Clark Lee's dad. He's like,
- 8:46Speaker 2: that's super cool. I'm Clark Senior. It's super cool.
- 8:48Speaker 1: You know.
- 8:48Speaker 2: It's proud of a son too, because he just wanted
- 8:50Speaker 2: to be like he wanted to find a way to
- 8:51Speaker 2: get to it, because I would totally because I'm like,
- 8:53Speaker 2: I know a guy who met Clarkly's dad. That's how
- 8:55Speaker 2: probably I am to get it all the way over.
- 8:58Speaker 1: What's funny, though, is I told him, yeah, I work
- 9:00Speaker 1: with Bobby Bones and we do this thing. He's like,
- 9:02Speaker 1: oh my gosh, wait too much access. I saw it.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I saw the video. So you guys are trying to
- 9:08Speaker 1: kick football. It's like idiots. I love it.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Is that what he's said? I mean, not like that verbatim.
- 9:13Speaker 2: All right, let's go over. It's time for the tittle
- 9:15Speaker 2: tattle his name ever, it's the tittle Tattle.
- 9:24Speaker 4: If Oregon beats Washington this week, do you think bo
- 9:28Speaker 4: Nicks takes over as a Heisman favorite?
- 9:30Speaker 1: No?
- 9:31Speaker 3: Oh wow, I couldn't even finish.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Now, I know. I think probably he needs a few
- 9:37Speaker 2: big wins bon Knicks. Even though he's been awesome at Oregon,
- 9:41Speaker 2: bo Knicks still has a little bit of Auburn on him.
- 9:44Speaker 2: And it also sucks for Bonix that he plays at
- 9:46Speaker 2: Oregon because not all Americans to watch his games, so
- 9:49Speaker 2: they can't shake off all the Auburn on him. So
- 9:53Speaker 2: we don't really get to see all the new and
- 9:54Speaker 2: improved bal Nicks uless we stay up late or make
- 9:56Speaker 2: a point to do it. I think if he has
- 9:57Speaker 2: a great game, it probably shifts it a bit. But
- 10:00Speaker 2: will he be the favorite? No, it depends on how
- 10:01Speaker 2: good Caleb Williams plays. That's a big game and gets
- 10:04Speaker 2: Notre Dame. If Kayleb Williams goes out primetime. I get
- 10:08Speaker 2: at USC, it's a left school as well, but USC
- 10:11Speaker 2: is a little more high profile than Oregon. You've left
- 10:13Speaker 2: in the country, mean, yeah, yeah, pol I'm looking at
- 10:16Speaker 2: a map. Probably bothes it, that's true, But Kayleb Williams
- 10:20Speaker 2: also has what bow Knicks had, and that Kayla Williams
- 10:23Speaker 2: has a little bit Oklahoma on him, and he was
- 10:24Speaker 2: awesome at Oklahoma. So I think Kayla Williams wins it.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I think Michael Pennock Junior is the favorite right now,
- 10:30Speaker 2: but barely. I think a Bonex plays awesome and Oregon
- 10:33Speaker 2: keeps winning, he probably moves up a bit. What is
- 10:36Speaker 2: he third? Right now? It's Pennick Junior, Caleb Williams, and
- 10:40Speaker 2: Boone Knicks at three. But I do think if Oregon
- 10:43Speaker 2: wins it, he plays awesome, sure, but I don't think
- 10:46Speaker 2: he's the favorite until they are right about to make
- 10:52Speaker 2: the freaking tournament.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You think he has to beat Phoenix and Williams you.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Call him Poenix. It just feels like so much does
- 10:58Speaker 2: are you doing that on purpose?
- 11:00Speaker 3: He is Panix?
- 11:02Speaker 2: But you know how close phoenixs.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I just like, I just like that uncomfortable was an accident.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I think he just attached himself to it. Yeah. I
- 11:11Speaker 2: think Caleb Williams wins the Heisman, Okay, unless they lose
- 11:14Speaker 2: three games, two or three games. Everybody wants Caleb Wims win,
- 11:16Speaker 2: as in everybody, all the media. They love it because
- 11:18Speaker 2: he gets clicked, so they'll keep writing stories about him.
- 11:20Speaker 2: It's just gonna fed the monster. Yeah, but Boenix can
- 11:22Speaker 2: win the Heisman. If Oregon wins the whole thing, there
- 11:24Speaker 2: you go suck on that. You know who? I like? Though,
- 11:27Speaker 2: If I were voting and had the only vote that.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Counted Poenix, uh dong, excuse me.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Everything that sounds like Penis, I would do. I would
- 11:37Speaker 2: vote for Bowers at Georgia.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Love that he's awesome, tight ends some.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Love Titan has won. It's it's like the forties or fifties. Yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 2: he's awesome. He's awesome. He's the best football player. Yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 2: he's Caleb Williams and Bowers are both. What about Drake
- 11:49Speaker 2: May or it prod them funny picking words at all? Yeah, okay,
- 11:56Speaker 2: go ahead. Next question, it's.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Non Pac twelve rank matchup.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Are you looking forward to most USC at Notre Dame
- 12:02Speaker 4: or Miami at North Carolina?
- 12:04Speaker 2: I don't care about Miami in North Carolina. Good, have
- 12:07Speaker 2: a nice day. It's a fun game to see if
- 12:09Speaker 2: Miami bounces back after their humiliating didn't take any loss,
- 12:12Speaker 2: and the North Carolina Drake May is awesome, but I
- 12:15Speaker 2: don't really care that much. What I care to see
- 12:17Speaker 2: is USC a Notre Dame for the same reason everybody
- 12:19Speaker 2: wants say it's two massive programs. It's Notre Dame who
- 12:23Speaker 2: people love it when not It's supposed to be good
- 12:25Speaker 2: and then they're not. I think people love that more
- 12:27Speaker 2: than when Notre Dame is good, and they definitely love
- 12:29Speaker 2: it more than when Notre Dame is just bad and
- 12:30Speaker 2: nobody cares. What people like is to see Notre Dame
- 12:33Speaker 2: get set up and then clock getting knocked down again. Yes,
- 12:36Speaker 2: because they're very entitled and I would feel entitled if
- 12:39Speaker 2: I were a Notre Dame fan. For sure, I wish
- 12:42Speaker 2: I felt entitled if I'm being honest, but I don't.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I'm a loser. But people love when Notre Dame's like,
- 12:48Speaker 2: this is the team, and they love to see people
- 12:50Speaker 2: just kick them right in the balls. And they've already
- 12:51Speaker 2: been kicked there. So they're not gonna win the National
- 12:54Speaker 2: championship this year, but people want to watch that game
- 12:56Speaker 2: because of Caleb Williams, because they want to see Notre
- 12:58Speaker 2: Dame get beat. Now I would like to note him win.
- 13:01Speaker 2: That would be cool, just counter everything I just said.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Because they can't win the National Championship. They've already I've
- 13:06Speaker 2: already achieved what I wanted with Notre Dame. Now I
- 13:08Speaker 2: want to see them eat up other schools.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Do you feel like it's two entitled teams? Could be
- 13:13Speaker 4: because something California absolutely like that is there. I thought
- 13:18Speaker 4: they're known for yeah, and u s.
- 13:19Speaker 2: They also they fire coaches if they're not big, big,
- 13:21Speaker 2: big winners, they're just kind of winners. You only do
- 13:24Speaker 2: that if you're an entitled team, So we call it
- 13:25Speaker 2: the entitled Bull. Well, you'd need like nine teams playing
- 13:30Speaker 2: at once. There's a lot of entire like Royal rumble,
- 13:33Speaker 2: all nine teams down the field at once, yes, last one,
- 13:36Speaker 2: I mean Oklahoma in there, throw Alabama and yeah, you're entitled.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Want a lot like it's a success thing. You know,
- 13:44Speaker 2: there's not a team that wins a bunch of national
- 13:46Speaker 2: championships that you just go. You know, I'm big fans
- 13:48Speaker 2: of them. They're just great people because eventually you kind
- 13:50Speaker 2: of turned into a douche. I wish I could be
- 13:52Speaker 2: a douche about Kansas. Georgia started turn into douche starting
- 13:55Speaker 2: and I would too if I want to in a row.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Of course, that's the goal, to be.
- 13:59Speaker 1: A due Kevin, what's the UCLA USC kind of like
- 14:03Speaker 1: what's that vibe? Because I feel like you said, like
- 14:06Speaker 1: USC is what you think about when you think of
- 14:08Speaker 1: Southern cal What about UCLA. They're running in the side
- 14:10Speaker 1: of time.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Yeah, they're kind of like the little brother like the Angels
- 14:12Speaker 4: and the Dodgers kind of thing. But USC is known
- 14:14Speaker 4: for like spoiled kids and rich kids.
- 14:16Speaker 3: And if you go.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Against programs you mean actual school, I mean both. Yeah,
- 14:22Speaker 2: I guess UCLA basketball is what I associate with winning basketball.
- 14:27Speaker 2: In California. Yeah, and USC football. Yeah, all right, next up.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Going to the NFL after torching the Cowboys and getting
- 14:33Speaker 4: his team to five and oh, do you think brock
- 14:35Speaker 4: Purty is still being disrespected?
- 14:38Speaker 2: I think a lot of people, myself included, although I
- 14:40Speaker 2: wasn't just a pure hater party. We got to watch
- 14:44Speaker 2: them in prime time and it was the only game
- 14:45Speaker 2: on and so we spent time with them. I think
- 14:47Speaker 2: like twenty million people watch that game. Yeah, we hung
- 14:49Speaker 2: out with them. Yeah. Otherwise, it's the four o'clock game
- 14:53Speaker 2: or three o'clock game. It's four o'clock on Fantasy FOOTBA
- 14:55Speaker 2: because it's they run Eastern. Yeah, three o'clock. It's a
- 14:57Speaker 2: three o'clock game, and you're watching it with two other games,
- 15:01Speaker 2: and the four Ninders are winning, but the game gets
- 15:03Speaker 2: out of hand quick or it's them playing, so you
- 15:06Speaker 2: don't spend a lot of time with it, and you
- 15:08Speaker 2: listen to the people that you trust. Going Brock Party
- 15:10Speaker 2: the system quarterback. But then we watched him play the
- 15:12Speaker 2: Cowboys and he was making every throw with touch or
- 15:17Speaker 2: on the money hard, or he was checking. Yes, he
- 15:20Speaker 2: has a bunch of weapons, but okay, we can't penalize
- 15:22Speaker 2: people for the weapons that they have. That'd be stupid.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Yeah, even if the system is perfect, you've got to
- 15:27Speaker 1: make that throw.
- 15:28Speaker 2: And he was making and I think everybody going everybody
- 15:33Speaker 2: keeps saying brock Party is underrated, is now swinging the
- 15:36Speaker 2: pendulum the other way. So good for him. He's killing it.
- 15:39Speaker 2: He makes eight hundred thousand bucks a year, which in
- 15:41Speaker 2: the NFL is not a lot. It's a rookie deal,
- 15:44Speaker 2: seventh round, last pick, right general generally speaking, yes, but
- 15:47Speaker 2: for NFL player one hundred thousand bucks a year, not
- 15:49Speaker 2: for a star of the best team in the NFL
- 15:51Speaker 2: eight hundred thousand bucks the quarterback. It's a low So,
- 15:55Speaker 2: and he lives in San Francisco, which costs way more. Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 2: so he has a roommate.
- 16:00Speaker 1: But he understands that, right, Like I think he understands
- 16:03Speaker 1: it's early in his career and he's still trying to
- 16:05Speaker 1: prove who he is. Even though he's getting closer and
- 16:08Speaker 1: closer to proven that, he's still at the eight hundred
- 16:11Speaker 1: thousand dollars level, Right, He's.
- 16:13Speaker 2: So close to the big deal. Yeah, but he's eight
- 16:15Speaker 2: hundred thousand Because a team that's when they really have
- 16:20Speaker 2: the ability to win big is when you have somebody
- 16:23Speaker 2: massive in a rookie deal. You don't just go and
- 16:25Speaker 2: throw a bunch of money. He knows he's good. He'll
- 16:27Speaker 2: make a lot bunch of money. Let's get hurt. But
- 16:29Speaker 2: if you can get a quarterback and a rookie deal
- 16:31Speaker 2: year two or three, they're in there pretty But then
- 16:35Speaker 2: you got a pam like Mahomes. That's why he has
- 16:36Speaker 2: no wide receivers because they don't want to. They can't
- 16:38Speaker 2: pay anybody else. And so even like Kelsey, who's a
- 16:41Speaker 2: massive star, great tight end, tight ends just don't get
- 16:43Speaker 2: paid as much as receivers. So that's very beneficial to
- 16:48Speaker 2: the team that they have somebody in a rookie deal,
- 16:50Speaker 2: especially a quarterback. They won the lottery for sure. Yeah
- 16:53Speaker 2: so all right, well.
- 16:54Speaker 4: More seen some major upsets in the MLB playoffs right now,
- 16:56Speaker 4: and I was wondering, would you rather have your team
- 16:58Speaker 4: not make the playoffs at all, or your top team
- 17:00Speaker 4: all year and they get bounced in the first round.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I would rather make the playoffs and just be destroyed
- 17:05Speaker 2: later in the playoffs and not make it at all,
- 17:08Speaker 2: because that means, hopefully you've got some health going into
- 17:10Speaker 2: next year. That means you had fun this season. That's
- 17:14Speaker 2: more time you got to spend winning, just generally right,
- 17:16Speaker 2: and it sucks. It's like, would you rather your team
- 17:18Speaker 2: go to the final four and get beat on a
- 17:19Speaker 2: heartbreak and buzzer beater, or I'll make a tournament take
- 17:23Speaker 2: me to the final four. I'll heartbreak all day. I'm
- 17:25Speaker 2: used to heartbreak. I'm freaking callous. All my teams lose.
- 17:29Speaker 2: It sucks. So yes, I would rather make the playoffs
- 17:32Speaker 2: and lose in a really bad way because then I
- 17:34Speaker 2: can come on and to keep doing this crap. I suck.
- 17:37Speaker 2: It's good content. Feel sorry for me? Yes, all right,
- 17:40Speaker 2: thank you. That's tittle Tattle's name, the tittle Tattle. All right,
- 17:49Speaker 2: thank you, Kevin. Twenty five whistles presented by Draft Kings
- 17:52Speaker 2: sports book and official sports betting partner of the NFL.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Download the DraftKings app and use the code Bobby Sports
- 17:57Speaker 2: to get in on the action. We're gonna build this
- 17:59Speaker 2: part with each of our hands because I just haven't
- 18:02Speaker 2: been successful. I put, I gotten close but close to
- 18:05Speaker 2: matter in a parlay. So I'm gonna do my one,
- 18:07Speaker 2: and then you guys throw your one in here. Let's
- 18:10Speaker 2: build it as a team. I will go first. I'm
- 18:12Speaker 2: going Duke money line versus North Carolina State. Pretty close game,
- 18:16Speaker 2: it's been like two or three points what spread's been.
- 18:19Speaker 2: But I'm gonna go Duke money line versus n C.
- 18:21Speaker 1: State money lines. Duke's the favorite there.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Yes, it looks like by two and a half or
- 18:26Speaker 2: three three and a half and nouns three and a
- 18:28Speaker 2: half A better bet it quick for it goes up again.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Mm hmm, Okay, I'm gonna put the odds into all right,
- 18:33Speaker 2: go ahead, ah, Kevin.
- 18:34Speaker 4: I'm gonna go with stay in the acc there, North
- 18:36Speaker 4: Carolina money line against Miami at home North Carolina. They
- 18:41Speaker 4: are three and a half point favorites as well.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we're a bunch of wamps.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Well, I know, but we gotta get back on track here.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I agree, you know, No, I I again, it was
- 18:50Speaker 2: I think two and a half when I jumped on it,
- 18:52Speaker 2: and now it's three and a half. But that's still
- 18:53Speaker 2: loser I should have I'm not taking this bread. I
- 18:55Speaker 2: just need to win.
- 18:56Speaker 1: So only one of us has balls here that would
- 19:00Speaker 1: probably be you.
- 19:02Speaker 2: But just don't be the only one of us. Just
- 19:04Speaker 2: don't be the one to lose it. That's what I'm saying.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You gotta take risks.
- 19:07Speaker 3: They already risk every time.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I'd be like, Eddie should have cash Yeah, cash out,
- 19:11Speaker 2: cash out, cash out. So you're full of crap about risk. Okay,
- 19:14Speaker 2: go ahead, all let me have this in Duke money line.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Not three and a half, right, Duke money line. Mnus
- 19:19Speaker 2: want seventy five more? Okay, Kevin, yours is North Carolina,
- 19:25Speaker 2: North North Carolina on your hand up. Okay, let go
- 19:30Speaker 2: hellicupter North Carolina versus Miami. North Carolina is a three
- 19:35Speaker 2: and a half point favorite after the Miami first of all, debuckle.
- 19:38Speaker 2: So they're either gonna come and play terrible. That's or
- 19:41Speaker 2: blow the doors off and be like we're so embarrassed,
- 19:43Speaker 2: we're gonna come out for vengeance.
- 19:45Speaker 3: That's what scares me.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Okay, and Eddie.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Let's get some guts here, guys. Look, Louisville coming up,
- 19:51Speaker 1: coming out, coming off off the great victory killing Notre
- 19:54Speaker 1: Dame at home. They're playing Pitt Pit's not a very
- 19:57Speaker 1: good football team. They got seven points. So it's Louisville
- 20:00Speaker 1: minus seven and a half right now.
- 20:03Speaker 2: So we're taking the spread on that one. Yes, Louisville's
- 20:06Speaker 2: gonna run over Pittsburgh. Okay, you don't think it's like
- 20:10Speaker 2: a trap game to you, and I do not. Okay,
- 20:12Speaker 2: those three. If you bet ten bucks, you'll make forty
- 20:15Speaker 2: six sixty. That's good. I bet ten. I've bet one
- 20:19Speaker 2: hundred to make four sixty six.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Okay, so I'm in.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I bet mine. If we say it, I do it.
- 20:25Speaker 2: There you go get in with us, taking mind Eddie.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Good for you for picking the spread.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Hey man, let's make some smiles on that one.
- 20:31Speaker 2: The Arkansas spread last week was like eleven and a half.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I changed it up to Arkansas seven plus seven, and
- 20:38Speaker 2: then it freaking pushed. So I tried to take less
- 20:41Speaker 2: points because I knew they'd be in it closer, and
- 20:43Speaker 2: then they pushed. Yeah. Well, now, if you want to

- 21:15Speaker 2: put our pads on, push him around. Yeah, Cooper byby
- 21:17Speaker 2: is awesome. Like what a dude. So here he is.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Cooper was ranked the ninth best player in the state
- 21:21Speaker 2: of Kansas coming out of high school. He was not
- 21:24Speaker 2: a four star kid though. What's funny crazy, Like he
- 21:27Speaker 2: wasn't this massive recruit we were talking to him about.
- 21:29Speaker 2: He's a three star recruit and so big shot put
- 21:32Speaker 2: guy played basketball as well when he's in high school
- 21:35Speaker 2: and he's All American now he could have went to
- 21:37Speaker 2: the draft last year. During the game, we were talking
- 21:39Speaker 2: about that too, like you wanted to stay. I guess
- 21:40Speaker 2: his brother plays on the team too, which we didn't
- 21:42Speaker 2: meet his brother. But and he like taught school. You
- 21:45Speaker 2: guys see the packaging ran on him on the football game.
- 21:47Speaker 2: He's like teaching kids like in high school. He's awesome.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I love this dude. You can follow Cooper on his
- 21:51Speaker 2: journey to the NFL next year on Twitter Cooper underscore BB.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Here he is Cooper BB.
- 21:57Speaker 6: Cooper, How big a boy are you six street. How
- 22:01Speaker 6: long have you been that big?
- 22:03Speaker 7: Oh? My wife?
- 22:04Speaker 6: Yeah, it's gotta be tough for your mom.
- 22:06Speaker 7: It's six three like that.
- 22:09Speaker 2: That's dang. So what what.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Town did you grow up in?
- 22:13Speaker 8: So?
- 22:13Speaker 7: I grew up in Kansas City.
- 22:15Speaker 2: And in high school were you, you know, big four
- 22:18Speaker 2: star linemen?
- 22:19Speaker 7: I was actually a two star defensive alignment.
- 22:22Speaker 6: That's crazy.
- 22:23Speaker 2: And that's the point I wanted to get to, is
- 22:24Speaker 2: that here you are now, preseason all American, but a
- 22:28Speaker 2: two star guy. And so a lot of people watching this,
- 22:32Speaker 2: maybe like you in high school right now, or may
- 22:34Speaker 2: have kids in high school right now that haven't.
- 22:36Speaker 6: They don't even know their potential yet. Like, what would
- 22:39Speaker 6: you say to them watching this?
- 22:40Speaker 7: Man, I'll tell you what. Ratings.
- 22:41Speaker 5: Ratings don't mean anything, you know, dude, don't let anybody
- 22:45Speaker 5: ever tell you can't do it. You know, if you
- 22:47Speaker 5: put in the work, you know, day in day out,
- 22:49Speaker 5: you know, big things will happen.
- 22:50Speaker 6: What's what's your dream?
- 22:51Speaker 7: I won't play in the NFL, it's my dream?
- 22:54Speaker 2: What do you want to play? Left?
- 22:55Speaker 7: Tackle? You play guard?
- 22:58Speaker 2: Okay?
- 22:58Speaker 5: You know I have played tackles, definitely, not you know,
- 23:00Speaker 5: with these with these little arms it's not necessarily the
- 23:03Speaker 5: easiest things.
- 23:04Speaker 6: You just say little arms, I don't see why are
- 23:06Speaker 6: you what's your helmet on?
- 23:08Speaker 2: We never know we're on the field.
- 23:09Speaker 6: Man, you want to get a flag out here taking
- 23:12Speaker 6: your helmet.
- 23:13Speaker 7: Success and celebration if you take it off.
- 23:15Speaker 2: So you're gonna leave it on the whole interview, right,
- 23:19Speaker 2: So when you come out those doors and this place
- 23:21Speaker 2: is full of people screaming, clapping, I mean that's got
- 23:25Speaker 2: to be awesome.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Yeah, this is my fifth year here and I still
- 23:28Speaker 5: get goosebumps every time. You know, you sit right there
- 23:30Speaker 5: and the garage opens, the smoke's going off.
- 23:32Speaker 7: It's just an unreal experience.
- 23:34Speaker 2: What's coach like?
- 23:36Speaker 5: Oh, Coach is amazing, dude. He's such a player's coach.
- 23:40Speaker 5: You know, he's a dude. You know you want to
- 23:41Speaker 5: go I'd go have a beer with or hang out with.
- 23:44Speaker 5: He's just he's just such cool and he really builds
- 23:47Speaker 5: the culture around here that makes this play special.
- 23:49Speaker 2: What do we the common man not know about the
- 23:51Speaker 2: offensive line? Because we see you guys are like great,
- 23:54Speaker 2: good job or bad job or nothing, or you know,
- 23:57Speaker 2: because you don't get the respect you deserve.
- 23:58Speaker 5: What do we not know, you know, our job is
- 24:01Speaker 5: a lot harder than people think. You know, like you said,
- 24:03Speaker 5: we're always the ones that get criticized, but you know,
- 24:06Speaker 5: nobody in the stands could do what we do, and
- 24:09Speaker 5: you know we're the reason.
- 24:10Speaker 7: You know, we win.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Whenever you get down on the line and somebody's calling
- 24:14Speaker 2: out there, they're like, what are you guys looking for?
- 24:17Speaker 2: Whenever you line up, Like what you're looking at where
- 24:20Speaker 2: the defensive tackles are lined up? The linebackers?
- 24:22Speaker 6: What are you all yelling down there?
- 24:23Speaker 7: So usually we yell at combinations.
- 24:25Speaker 5: So if I'm next to the center, for instance, and
- 24:27Speaker 5: we're going to combo to this guy, we'll say one
- 24:29Speaker 5: of our combos calls is a king. You go to
- 24:32Speaker 5: this guy, so you know that you're double teaming with
- 24:34Speaker 5: the dude next to you to that person.
- 24:35Speaker 2: But how would I not know that you were king
- 24:37Speaker 2: and me? If I was lined up against you and
- 24:38Speaker 2: I ard you call King, I'd be like, he's gonna
- 24:40Speaker 2: king me.
- 24:40Speaker 7: So, no, defensive lineman, aren't that smart?
- 24:42Speaker 6: Got it?
- 24:43Speaker 7: I felt that that's the best answer I can give.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Do you watch draft analysis and see where they're tossing
- 24:50Speaker 2: your name around?
- 24:52Speaker 7: It's hard not to see. I try to tune it out.
- 24:54Speaker 5: You know, I know that I got to do what
- 24:56Speaker 5: I got to do, and you know it all play
- 24:58Speaker 5: out from there.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Tell me about this cool How much it means to you?
- 25:01Speaker 7: Oh, it means everything to me.
- 25:02Speaker 5: You know, I had the chance to go pro last year,
- 25:04Speaker 5: but you know it's just the people that truly make
- 25:07Speaker 5: this play special. And you know that was the reason
- 25:09Speaker 5: I came back.
- 25:10Speaker 2: All right, thanks Cooper by be awesome. We'll get to
- 25:12Speaker 2: coach in just a second, but now let's talk about

- 26:21Speaker 2: I love this dude. I liked hanging out with them,
- 26:23Speaker 2: but then when I watched them coach and I know
- 26:24Speaker 2: they lost the last game that we watched, it didn't matter.
- 26:26Speaker 2: I was like, I want to play for this guy. Yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It was like fourth and four from their own twenty
- 26:32Speaker 2: nine is like, we got to make a move. They
- 26:34Speaker 2: got one, didn't get another one, but he trusted his
- 26:36Speaker 2: defense to just give up three. He was doing it
- 26:39Speaker 2: was awesome. I was like, I want to play for
- 26:41Speaker 2: this dude, Like if I was an offensive guy, I
- 26:42Speaker 2: don't want to play for this dude.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but you're too old, can't play for him anymore.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Sometimes a Disney movie comes out about somebody who's older
- 26:49Speaker 2: who goes back and makes a difference.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Just the same man, you keep tricking yourself here.
- 26:53Speaker 2: They won the Big Twelve last year, and I say
- 26:55Speaker 2: that to him, like I feel like, you guys just
- 26:57Speaker 2: didn't get the respect you deserved because one TCU end
- 27:00Speaker 2: up going to the championship game and that okay, and
- 27:03Speaker 2: maybe if they win the game, they're like, oh, they
- 27:05Speaker 2: didn't win the conference, but they get beat one hundred
- 27:07Speaker 2: and nothing. So people aren't even looking at what happened
- 27:08Speaker 2: in the Big Twelve. They won the Big Twelve last year.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So coach made his name at North Dakota State. He
- 27:14Speaker 2: won four national championships in five years, which is wild.
- 27:17Speaker 2: He was a part of seven total. He led the
- 27:19Speaker 2: waldcast to a Big twelve championship last year for the
- 27:21Speaker 2: first time since twenty twelve. Follow him on Twitter at

- 27:27Speaker 2: It's a birthday. He thinks we don't know then getting
- 27:31Speaker 2: the time machine. It's his birthday when we're doing this interview.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Here is coach Clamb coach. When you take over a
- 27:36Speaker 2: program because you've been here a few years, regardless of
- 27:38Speaker 2: the program, but especially somewhere like Kansas State, there are
- 27:42Speaker 2: many things that the alumni and that the local folks
- 27:45Speaker 2: are proud of. Hand signals, if it's a whoopig or
- 27:48Speaker 2: if it's the cat. How quickly do you have to
- 27:51Speaker 2: learn to do the hand signal exactly right? Like day one?
- 27:54Speaker 9: Day one?
- 27:54Speaker 2: Are you scared to do it though immediately because you
- 27:56Speaker 2: don't want to like do it slightly wrong?
- 27:58Speaker 9: Absolutely, yeah, you don't want too. But no, day one,
- 28:01Speaker 9: they expect you to know it all. And you know
- 28:04Speaker 9: from EMA to the hand signal to the Wabash canniball everything.
- 28:08Speaker 2: You gotta know what's the Wabash canniball.
- 28:10Speaker 9: It's one of her song.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a song. No, that's the macarena. I
- 28:17Speaker 2: would just be nervous because there are times when I
- 28:19Speaker 2: meet people and I don't get their name exactly right,
- 28:22Speaker 2: and if I have to go on TV or something
- 28:23Speaker 2: and say their name, I'm like, I don't want to. Yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 2: I have to because if I'm wrong, everybody's going to
- 28:28Speaker 2: know I'm a little bit wrong, and there's pressure. I
- 28:30Speaker 2: was looking a lot of pictures of you holding the
- 28:31Speaker 2: hand sign. Is that is that on a plane? Are
- 28:34Speaker 2: they teaching you stuff on the flight over when you
- 28:35Speaker 2: get the job.
- 28:37Speaker 9: Absolutely, That's why I had Kenny Lenou on the flight.
- 28:39Speaker 9: You know, our media relations guy. You're showing me how
- 28:42Speaker 9: to do everything, and uh but no, I mean it
- 28:44Speaker 9: is such a world wind tour when you first get hired.
- 28:49Speaker 9: And I was in the middle of another season with
- 28:51Speaker 9: another team, and we were trying to win a national championship.
- 28:53Speaker 9: So you'd ask my wife. She still doesn't remember that
- 28:57Speaker 9: sixty days we had of kind of the courtship.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Whenever I get a treadmill or any sort of like
- 29:03Speaker 2: exercise machine, I work on it for I don't know,
- 29:06Speaker 2: a month or so, and then it just turns into
- 29:08Speaker 2: basically a clothes hanger or I just end up doing
- 29:10Speaker 2: close Now I notice, right, by your desk. Yeah, there's
- 29:12Speaker 2: a piece of cardio equipment. How often do you actually
- 29:15Speaker 2: use it or is it more of just a discussion point? Now?
- 29:18Speaker 9: Did you not know what the car equipment is? No,
- 29:21Speaker 9: it's an elliptical.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, but I mean how often do you get
- 29:24Speaker 2: on it? Though?
- 29:24Speaker 9: Actually twice a week.
- 29:26Speaker 2: You still use it?
- 29:26Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 29:27Speaker 2: I still use it.
- 29:27Speaker 9: No, I don't hang any clothes on here. I truly
- 29:30Speaker 9: use it twice a week. You can see. We've got
- 29:32Speaker 9: some big screens around here, so my videos up there.
- 29:36Speaker 9: So then I put the video on, watch some of
- 29:39Speaker 9: the games, watch some cutups, watch a lot of the
- 29:41Speaker 9: different plays that we're trying to watch, and I can
- 29:44Speaker 9: gotta get a little extra during the season.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Oh that was like Richard Simmons or something. He's like
- 29:48Speaker 2: he puts his video up there. Yeah, just sweating to
- 29:51Speaker 2: the oldies.
- 29:52Speaker 9: I would love it if it were that. But no,
- 29:53Speaker 9: this is actually work. The hard thing is I have
- 29:55Speaker 9: my phone with me and then I'm trying to type
- 29:57Speaker 9: in notes. I'm sweaty, and but I get it done.
- 30:01Speaker 2: If I'm thinking of throughout the week and I'm touring
- 30:05Speaker 2: now doing stand up. But if I think of a
- 30:07Speaker 2: Joe concept. I write it on my phone immediately. Sometimes
- 30:10Speaker 2: I go back to it and sometimes I can remember
- 30:12Speaker 2: what the idea was. Sometimes I can't. As a football coach,
- 30:17Speaker 2: do you do the same with concepts or plays or
- 30:20Speaker 2: schemes where it's like, I have not seen this yet,
- 30:22Speaker 2: let me jot it down, or maybe we should do it,
- 30:24Speaker 2: And then you go back to it and revisit in
- 30:25Speaker 2: your phone and sometimes you don't even know what you
- 30:27Speaker 2: roll down.
- 30:28Speaker 9: For me, it's more leadership thoughts, motivating thoughts. I'll get
- 30:33Speaker 9: up in the middle of the night because I never
- 30:35Speaker 9: sleep very well during the season, and my wife will look,
- 30:37Speaker 9: what are you doing? And she'll know that I'm typing
- 30:39Speaker 9: something that I just thought of at two am, to
- 30:42Speaker 9: say something we can do maybe after a big win,
- 30:46Speaker 9: how do we responding back? Maybe after a loss, maybe
- 30:49Speaker 9: after a bad practice, whatever it may be. I'm always
- 30:52Speaker 9: my mind never shuts off during the football season, but
- 30:55Speaker 9: there are times I'll go back in and I'll say, gosh,
- 30:58Speaker 9: when did I do that? And Lucky It'll say like
- 31:00Speaker 9: three thirty five. I'm like, boy, I don't even remember
- 31:02Speaker 9: getting up.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Who are some of your leadership role models either that
- 31:06Speaker 2: you've worked for with, or that you just read about
- 31:08Speaker 2: that you never knew.
- 31:10Speaker 9: You know, I've been fortunate because I've got a guy
- 31:12Speaker 9: named Ben Newman that's one of the world renowned speakers
- 31:16Speaker 9: in the in the country sports performance coach, and he's
- 31:20Speaker 9: put me on like Ed my left and he's put
- 31:22Speaker 9: me on John Gordon and some of those guys that
- 31:24Speaker 9: I just I love reading motivational books. I love reading
- 31:27Speaker 9: leadership books. But then you know, I'm going to read
- 31:30Speaker 9: a book on Kobe Bryant. You know, I'm just how
- 31:34Speaker 9: those guys, what they did to tick you know, Michael Jordan,
- 31:38Speaker 9: all the great ones of how they were motivated and
- 31:42Speaker 9: what kind of drove them.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I feel like for any success that either me or
- 31:46Speaker 2: my friends peers have had, like we all have a
- 31:49Speaker 2: screw loose, but it's the right screw and it's just
- 31:50Speaker 2: the right amount of loose, and there's you only have
- 31:55Speaker 2: that that little amount to still be somewhat saying. I'm
- 31:57Speaker 2: only somewhat saying because like you, I don't see well,
- 32:00Speaker 2: I can't stop thinking, I can't stop imagining my you know,
- 32:03Speaker 2: my wife and I always you know, time management, something's
- 32:06Speaker 2: always happening. Do you feel like you got to screw
- 32:09Speaker 2: because you're very successful. Do you feel like you have
- 32:11Speaker 2: kind of a screw loose? But it's the right screw.
- 32:13Speaker 9: Yeah, you have to. I don't know what screw that is.
- 32:17Speaker 9: That's loose. My wife would tell you for sure, but
- 32:19Speaker 9: you absolutely have to to do what we do, to
- 32:23Speaker 9: do what you do. I mean, it's NonStop. You know,
- 32:26Speaker 9: it's seven days a week right now. You know, you
- 32:30Speaker 9: get in the office by five forty five and you're
- 32:32Speaker 9: leaving it nine thirty quarter to ten, and your mind's
- 32:36Speaker 9: still on when you go home, you visit with your
- 32:38Speaker 9: wife a little bit, you go to bed, you wake up,
- 32:40Speaker 9: and it's just repeat rents and repeat rents and repeat.
- 32:43Speaker 9: So you have to have a little bit of a
- 32:45Speaker 9: screw loose. But it's crazy because I never have felt like,
- 32:47Speaker 9: and I've been doing this for over thirty years, that
- 32:49Speaker 9: I've ever had a job. I assume you probably think
- 32:52Speaker 9: the same thing, that you don't really feel.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Like you have a job. I don't until I see
- 32:55Speaker 2: the revenue that I bring in and then I realize
- 32:56Speaker 2: I to be paid more. So, you know, that's kind
- 32:58Speaker 2: of how I'm like, this is so fun. Let me
- 33:00Speaker 2: see the road. Oh, Okay, this is a job I forgot. Yes,
- 33:03Speaker 2: I agree. And my stepdad worked at sawmill, right, and
- 33:05Speaker 2: I got to see him go to work and hate
- 33:08Speaker 2: his job every single day. And I had jobs that
- 33:10Speaker 2: I hated every day in doing what I do in
- 33:12Speaker 2: the morning, or touring or this. And it's also like
- 33:16Speaker 2: when I speak to people, I'm like, if you find
- 33:17Speaker 2: something that you love to do, it's not just that
- 33:20Speaker 2: I having fun, but you'll actually want to be better
- 33:21Speaker 2: at it. And when you want to be better at something,
- 33:24Speaker 2: like you strive, you achieve, and it's it's a cycle.
- 33:29Speaker 2: You love it, you get better at it, you have success,
- 33:32Speaker 2: and it continues. So I've found that for me to
- 33:34Speaker 2: be successful. But I agree, this isn't a real job.
- 33:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:37Speaker 9: And for us in coaching, we utilize each other so much.
- 33:40Speaker 9: Even when you play against somebody, you know them and
- 33:43Speaker 9: you talk to him in the off season. Some guys
- 33:46Speaker 9: you're really close to in season that you talk to
- 33:48Speaker 9: and you spitball ideas and you throw things around. And
- 33:53Speaker 9: everybody knows. Everybody in our profession probably the same as yours.
- 33:57Speaker 6: You know.
- 33:57Speaker 9: I've got a bunch of staff members that have been
- 33:59Speaker 9: in the business for thirty plus years and hey, we
- 34:02Speaker 9: played this team this week. Oh yeah, I know the
- 34:04Speaker 9: running back coach, I know the linebacker coach. I'll give
- 34:07Speaker 9: them a call and see if we can get some
- 34:09Speaker 9: some tips or some hand signals or whatever. Or what
- 34:12Speaker 9: was the environment like when we went to that stadium?
- 34:14Speaker 9: How loud was it? How loud do you have to
- 34:16Speaker 9: have the noise of practice to try to replicate those things?
- 34:19Speaker 9: It's just never endying and it's NonStop, but that's what
- 34:22Speaker 9: makes it so much fun.
- 34:23Speaker 2: What is your wife's favorite month?
- 34:26Speaker 9: Oh boy, I would say probably July, just because that's
- 34:31Speaker 9: when we get a little bit of a break. Her
- 34:34Speaker 9: birthdays in August, and I haven't celebrated at birthdays. We're
- 34:36Speaker 9: in the middle of fall camp, our entire time together.
- 34:40Speaker 2: But she knew what she was getting into.
- 34:41Speaker 9: She married me when I was a graduate assistant making
- 34:45Speaker 9: about eight hundred dollars a month, so she knew exactly
- 34:47Speaker 9: what she was getting into. And I told her, like,
- 34:50Speaker 9: your birthdays in August, that's a bad, bad month.
- 34:52Speaker 2: And so now she just changed it. It's now in
- 34:55Speaker 2: December officially.
- 34:56Speaker 9: Yeah, she just says, no, I'm out of town now.
- 34:58Speaker 9: So now she goes out of twent every August and
- 35:01Speaker 9: gets away for her birthday and I sit out of
- 35:04Speaker 9: practice and I'm like, well, she's in good hands, she's.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Doing it's your birthday today, coach. You think we did
- 35:08Speaker 2: birthday birthday coach on so we knew. So what do
- 35:12Speaker 2: you You're up here with these knuckleheads, and I mean
- 35:15Speaker 2: us on your birthday and it's off week. You could
- 35:17Speaker 2: be doing whatever, Like what do you usually do on
- 35:19Speaker 2: your birthday?
- 35:20Speaker 9: Well, it's I was thinking back of this, and I
- 35:22Speaker 9: may have to have Ryan or Kenny look this up.
- 35:25Speaker 9: This is the first time that I can remember my
- 35:28Speaker 9: birthday week landing on an open week. So usually it's
- 35:33Speaker 9: get the text, talk to my mother, those things, and
- 35:37Speaker 9: just go right back to work. I've got a radio
- 35:40Speaker 9: show tonight that I've got to do from seven to
- 35:42Speaker 9: eight and h then my wife and daughter who's in
- 35:46Speaker 9: town might grab a bite, teat or something. But usually
- 35:50Speaker 9: it's right in the middle of game week, and and
- 35:52Speaker 9: you never know, I hate it when it's on game day,
- 35:55Speaker 9: but this is the middle of a game week or
- 35:57Speaker 9: an open week, so it's a lot better.
- 35:59Speaker 2: You ever lost really bad on your birthday?
- 36:00Speaker 9: Absolutely no, No, that's that's then you don't even want
- 36:05Speaker 9: maybe not maybe not on the birthday, but like it
- 36:08Speaker 9: comes on a Sunday and you lost on a Saturday,
- 36:10Speaker 9: and you don't even want to take any of the
- 36:12Speaker 9: calls or text and you don't want to respond back.
- 36:14Speaker 9: But maybe it takes a few days and you do.
- 36:17Speaker 9: But we've been fortunate. We've won more than we've lost,
- 36:20Speaker 9: so that that has made it a lot easier coach.
- 36:22Speaker 1: One of the games I hate is when you guys
- 36:24Speaker 1: played TCU because there's just all purple on the field
- 36:27Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh gosh, who's going Yes, Kansas courre No,
- 36:30Speaker 1: that was TCU?
- 36:31Speaker 2: Is it ever?
- 36:32Speaker 6: Like?
- 36:32Speaker 1: How well the first question when you go into the game,
- 36:35Speaker 1: who decides like, all right, we're wearing the darks, we're
- 36:37Speaker 1: wearing these helmets, we're wearing that. Because you got to coordinate,
- 36:39Speaker 1: especially with a team like that's got purple.
- 36:42Speaker 9: Purple, Yeah, home team gets the selection. But last year
- 36:46Speaker 9: in the Big twelve championship game, which was at at
- 36:49Speaker 9: and T Stadium, it was a sea of purple. That's
- 36:52Speaker 9: all people saw. And if it weren't for the fact
- 36:55Speaker 9: that I knew where our bench was and the fans
- 36:57Speaker 9: we had behind our bench. But you looked across there
- 37:00Speaker 9: and you saw the fans like, well, this place is
- 37:02Speaker 9: packed with purple.
- 37:03Speaker 1: It was.
- 37:04Speaker 9: It was definitely a sea of purple, but I would
- 37:07Speaker 9: say it was probably fifty to fifty there. Maybe we
- 37:09Speaker 9: had a little bit more even though it was in
- 37:11Speaker 9: Fort Worth.
- 37:12Speaker 2: All I remember is texting Eddie because I'm colorblinded. Dark colors,
- 37:15Speaker 2: like everything over like a five on the darkness scale
- 37:17Speaker 2: looks the same. And I was like, dude, I don't
- 37:19Speaker 2: know what's what. Now give them the update.
- 37:21Speaker 9: It was like, I'm what, what's that's the border of
- 37:23Speaker 9: the numbers. I can't really tell the difference. Yeah, there's
- 37:27Speaker 9: some We've played a game a number of years ago
- 37:32Speaker 9: and the team had black jerseys and Navy numbers and
- 37:38Speaker 9: we were trying who's in the game? What number were like,
- 37:40Speaker 9: we couldn't tell. They've now made a rule against that
- 37:43Speaker 9: you can't have contrasting colors on the numbers to the
- 37:47Speaker 9: jersey because you could not tell what numbers were in
- 37:49Speaker 9: the game. And it's that's a nightmare for us as
- 37:52Speaker 9: coaches to see how many running backs are in the game,
- 37:54Speaker 9: how many wide receivers in the game.
- 37:55Speaker 2: You can't even tell the number and that strategy on
- 37:57Speaker 2: their part. All right, well, sure it is. Yeah, that's
- 37:59Speaker 2: a game. I feel like pilloff numbers, we switch numbers
- 38:04Speaker 2: during the game. I do all kinds of crazy stuff.
- 38:06Speaker 2: I was looking at since you join as head coach
- 38:10Speaker 2: at Kansas State. I was looking at a lot of
- 38:11Speaker 2: the head coaching records just in those few years. There's
- 38:15Speaker 2: just so much progress that's been here at Kansas State
- 38:17Speaker 2: since the moment that you took over, like actually tangible progress,
- 38:22Speaker 2: and I think it's one of the I won't say underappreciated,
- 38:27Speaker 2: but you guys won the freaking Big twelve last year,
- 38:29Speaker 2: and I feel like people didn't really hold you guys
- 38:32Speaker 2: up as high as as and I think TCU them
- 38:36Speaker 2: not having a good showing in the championship game just
- 38:39Speaker 2: took some headlines because everybody's like, but I feel like
- 38:42Speaker 2: you guys did not get the credit you deserved last year,
- 38:45Speaker 2: or didn't get held on the pedestal as high as
- 38:47Speaker 2: you probably should have.
- 38:48Speaker 9: Probably accurate. I think there's a lot of disrespect for
- 38:53Speaker 9: Kansas State. Doesn't matter if it's football, basketball, baseball, whatever
- 38:57Speaker 9: it may be. But you know that's probably the chip
- 39:00Speaker 9: on our shoulder too, that you've got to earn that
- 39:03Speaker 9: respect every day. And our guys would be the first
- 39:07Speaker 9: ones to tell you that they probably like the underdog
- 39:10Speaker 9: status and they liked that being the hunted perspective, and
- 39:17Speaker 9: so you know, we talk about it, but in the
- 39:19Speaker 9: same respect, come every Saturday, you got to perform anyway.
- 39:23Speaker 9: And we've had some really good things happen. We've had
- 39:26Speaker 9: some tough losses here too, but last year probably validated
- 39:31Speaker 9: a lot of the things that we wanted to get
- 39:33Speaker 9: done when we came here in twenty nineteen. The pandemic
- 39:36Speaker 9: year was a disaster for us, like it was everywhere
- 39:39Speaker 9: else and or a lot of people probably had better
- 39:42Speaker 9: success than we did. But I remember in the pandemic
- 39:44Speaker 9: here we would do our COVID testing on Friday morning
- 39:48Speaker 9: and then the trainers would come up and say, okay,
- 39:50Speaker 9: these five people have COVID. Well, those are two starting guards,
- 39:54Speaker 9: those are two starting linebackers. Oh and by the way,
- 39:56Speaker 9: they're close contact guys, or you're starting defensive end and
- 39:59Speaker 9: you're like, all right, jump on the bus, so soe
- 40:01Speaker 9: who can play, let's go? And that was that was miserable.
- 40:04Speaker 9: So everything that we've done helps tarnish or magnify what
- 40:10Speaker 9: that was so crappy in twenty twenty. But for us
- 40:13Speaker 9: to get that big twelve championship last year kind of
- 40:15Speaker 9: validated everything that we wanted to get done here when
- 40:18Speaker 9: we came here in twenty nineteen.
- 40:19Speaker 2: It's just such a big deal. It's Power five Conference.
- 40:21Speaker 2: You win the championship. Yeah, we still have to hear
- 40:24Speaker 2: about and you don't need to comment. That's stupid Texas. Yeah,
- 40:28Speaker 2: exactly who they are. So it's like, who cares about
- 40:32Speaker 2: you don't comment on the coach.
- 40:33Speaker 9: That's just I just talking about were still play them
- 40:35Speaker 9: this year?
- 40:35Speaker 2: You said nothing about that. That's just that's doing our
- 40:37Speaker 2: comments here. What do your players know you for?
- 40:41Speaker 9: Oh boy, well, you get a chance to be with
- 40:44Speaker 9: Cooper b B today, so he'll probably tell you a
- 40:46Speaker 9: little bit hopefully that I'm a player's coach. I value
- 40:51Speaker 9: their opinion. We have a leadership counsul that I want
- 40:53Speaker 9: their opinion on things. I want their voice. I think
- 40:57Speaker 9: that's a big thing right now in college athletics is
- 41:01Speaker 9: you know, you don't want to be a dictator. You
- 41:03Speaker 9: need to have those guys have a voice and take
- 41:08Speaker 9: ownership in the program. And that's why I think we
- 41:10Speaker 9: were successful last year is you know, we gave him
- 41:13Speaker 9: a lot of things and then gave him the keys
- 41:15Speaker 9: and said, you guys got to hold each other accountable
- 41:18Speaker 9: to the standard that you guys expect. You know what
- 41:19Speaker 9: we expect. But when your peer can hold you accountable
- 41:23Speaker 9: to that same standard of what you do on the field,
- 41:25Speaker 9: what you do off the field, how you prepare yourself.
- 41:29Speaker 9: And our guys have that right now, and our locker
- 41:32Speaker 9: room has really good culture right now. And I a
- 41:34Speaker 9: firm believer that when you give the guys that ownership
- 41:39Speaker 9: and let them run the team and let them run
- 41:41Speaker 9: that locker room, it gets better and better.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Coach, I'm a huge Cowboys fan, So let's talk about.
- 41:46Speaker 9: Duce Vanno and that fun one to talk about now.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I mean, Deuce was awesome for you guys, and then
- 41:50Speaker 1: when he gets drafted by the Cowboys, super special. Of course,
- 41:53Speaker 1: the whole bad connection. But he's sitting at the third
- 41:57Speaker 1: running back spot.
- 41:58Speaker 2: He's super fast. Yep, he's not that big of a guy, but.
- 42:02Speaker 1: What can you say about him as a person? And two,
- 42:07Speaker 1: would you ever call Jerry and be like, hey, you've
- 42:09Speaker 1: got to move him up.
- 42:12Speaker 2: What you need.
- 42:13Speaker 9: Well, we would have played him all the time, you know.
- 42:16Speaker 9: And it's funny because Deuce and his mother sat right
- 42:20Speaker 9: where you're sitting when he was a senior in high school,
- 42:24Speaker 9: big infectious smile, and I said, you're going to be
- 42:27Speaker 9: a dynamite running back for Kansas State and you're not
- 42:31Speaker 9: too small to play, uh, and we're going to build
- 42:34Speaker 9: our program around you, and we're going to build our
- 42:36Speaker 9: offense around you. And he was he lit up and
- 42:38Speaker 9: he said, I'm coming to k State and that's what
- 42:40Speaker 9: we did, and that's what he did for us. So
- 42:42Speaker 9: there's a role for him, and I don't know if
- 42:44Speaker 9: it's been defined yet. I don't ever get a chance
- 42:46Speaker 9: to watch NFL football Sundays, our busiest days. I'll get
- 42:51Speaker 9: a highlight somebody will send me, like Julie Sprince had
- 42:53Speaker 9: a who played for US last year, had a strip
- 42:55Speaker 9: and created a turnover last week. I don't get a
- 42:59Speaker 9: chance to watch enough. But if you need me to
- 43:02Speaker 9: call Jerry find you guys get his number a lot
- 43:04Speaker 9: easier than I could. We'll give him a call and
- 43:07Speaker 9: see if we can get him on the field a
- 43:08Speaker 9: little bit more.
- 43:09Speaker 2: You define yourself as a players coach. Have you always
- 43:12Speaker 2: been a players coach or is that something that you've
- 43:13Speaker 2: transitioned to more of that as you've been you know,
- 43:16Speaker 2: I had just had more head coaching experience.
- 43:18Speaker 9: Yeah, No, it's it's what I've always tried to be.
- 43:22Speaker 9: I look at it as I was really fortunate to
- 43:25Speaker 9: get a head job at North Dakota State. We won
- 43:28Speaker 9: some games there. I was the d bat coach, I
- 43:31Speaker 9: was the defensive coordinator, and I always had a really
- 43:33Speaker 9: good relationship with the guys and I always wanted to
- 43:36Speaker 9: be a part of the guy's lives, not just on
- 43:39Speaker 9: the field, but more importantly off the field, see how
- 43:40Speaker 9: they're doing, talk about their families. And then when I
- 43:43Speaker 9: got elevated to head coach, I just said I'm not
- 43:46Speaker 9: going to change. And I remember one of our players
- 43:49Speaker 9: that had we had at North Zcota State. I wore
- 43:53Speaker 9: a suit for for a for the first game in
- 43:57Speaker 9: the morning, and it was my first game and I'll
- 43:59Speaker 9: never forget it, and the kid came up to me
- 44:01Speaker 9: and said, you don't have to do this. Go put
- 44:05Speaker 9: your sweats on, or go put your your polo on,
- 44:07Speaker 9: and we're going to be just great. And I looked
- 44:09Speaker 9: at him, and I was like, oh, thank god he
- 44:11Speaker 9: said that, because I felt so uncomfortable, and so I
- 44:15Speaker 9: went back to just warning my polo and my my
- 44:18Speaker 9: khakis or sweats on that day or the next game,
- 44:21Speaker 9: and I just I want to be a part of
- 44:24Speaker 9: those guys' lives. And the only way you can be
- 44:27Speaker 9: is by being around him as much as you can,
- 44:29Speaker 9: by finding out as much you can, by joking with
- 44:31Speaker 9: them as much you can, by just being one of
- 44:35Speaker 9: the guys. And that's what assistants typically are, and us
- 44:38Speaker 9: head coaches oftentimes have to become CEOs and all that
- 44:41Speaker 9: other stuff, which you still have to do, but you
- 44:45Speaker 9: still have to break away and get in in the
- 44:47Speaker 9: locker room and the training room and weight room and
- 44:50Speaker 9: just you know, dig your heels in and get to
- 44:52Speaker 9: know them.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Let's talk schematically, especially defensively in the NFL. You're seeing Miami.
- 44:58Speaker 2: You know, they don't have a lot of big guys.
- 45:00Speaker 2: It's they got a lot of fast guys about They
- 45:02Speaker 2: got a lot of guys that get in an open
- 45:03Speaker 2: space and then run if it's you know, moster, if
- 45:06Speaker 2: it's Tyreek, if it's waddle. But then now the defenses
- 45:10Speaker 2: are having to change too, and we saw the Patriots
- 45:12Speaker 2: have to play like four or five safeties at one
- 45:14Speaker 2: time to try to keep speed up. What changes are
- 45:17Speaker 2: you seeing in the Big twelve or just in college
- 45:19Speaker 2: football in general? Are you seeing all just speed winning
- 45:23Speaker 2: more at times, like in the linebacker and defensive backs
- 45:25Speaker 2: more than it ever has.
- 45:26Speaker 9: Yeah, without a doubt, you know, you don't run the
- 45:30Speaker 9: old I formation quarterback under center very often at all.
- 45:35Speaker 9: The other thing that's that is taking over college football
- 45:38Speaker 9: that's going to take over the NFL pretty soon as
- 45:40Speaker 9: no huddle, not giving a team a chance to substitute,
- 45:44Speaker 9: so that we're going to put our fastest guys out there,
- 45:47Speaker 9: and you better be able to match those guys. And
- 45:49Speaker 9: sometimes in the past people just match those guys on
- 45:52Speaker 9: third down. Now you've got to match them on first down.
- 45:54Speaker 9: You got to match them on second down. And it's
- 45:57Speaker 9: a it's a skill level of find trying to find
- 46:00Speaker 9: safeties that are fast enough or linebackers that are fast enough.
- 46:03Speaker 9: But you also have these tight ends that are six
- 46:05Speaker 9: foot seven, two hundred and seventy pounds that can run
- 46:08Speaker 9: four or five that you can't put a corner on
- 46:10Speaker 9: because they're just gonna wall them out and box them out.
- 46:13Speaker 9: And you know, I look at the Travis Kelce from
- 46:15Speaker 9: the Chiefs. Who can cover him? Well, you know, you
- 46:18Speaker 9: can put a linebacker on him, but he's faster. You
- 46:19Speaker 9: can put a safety or a corner, but he's bigger.
- 46:22Speaker 9: And that's what everybody's trying to recruit is is the
- 46:25Speaker 9: hybrid defensive players that are fast enough to be able
- 46:29Speaker 9: to stuff the run, but athletic enough to be able
- 46:31Speaker 9: to cover great tight ends and wide outs.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Is it in a pendulum though? Where you get so
- 46:36Speaker 2: many hybrids on defense, they're having to stuff all of
- 46:38Speaker 2: these offensive playmakers that all of a sudden you're rotating coverage.
- 46:41Speaker 2: You got fast guys. Well, now all of a sudden,
- 46:43Speaker 2: everybody's trying to stop the wide open pass game. So
- 46:45Speaker 2: you got somebody who's like, let's just run it right
- 46:47Speaker 2: back down their throats and then it slowed. Has it
- 46:50Speaker 2: just a non stop pendleum?
- 46:51Speaker 1: It is?
- 46:51Speaker 9: It is a NonStop pendulum. The one thing that will
- 46:54Speaker 9: never change is you better have a quarterback. That's the
- 46:58Speaker 9: thing that will never change, whether or not that quarterback
- 47:01Speaker 9: is a dual threat guy like a Lamar Jackson that
- 47:04Speaker 9: can beat you with his arm beat you with his
- 47:06Speaker 9: legs or a guy that you know, like Tom Brady was,
- 47:09Speaker 9: that's just gonna you know, precision, just carve you up.
- 47:12Speaker 9: You still have to have that quarterback. And and uh,
- 47:15Speaker 9: that's the first thing that that we're looking for in
- 47:17Speaker 9: recruiting is every class can we find that quarterback? As
- 47:20Speaker 9: well as when we're when we're scouting teams and stuff,
- 47:23Speaker 9: is how's the quarter Because you can, like you said,
- 47:26Speaker 9: you can put everybody in charge of the past, but
- 47:28Speaker 9: if that kid's just going to run the ball on
- 47:30Speaker 9: you as a quarterback, you're in trouble. And so, yeah,
- 47:33Speaker 9: it's a it's a pendulum.
- 47:34Speaker 7: That's that.
- 47:34Speaker 9: It's offensively as well as defensively. It's ever changing.
- 47:39Speaker 2: How hard would it be to install the wishbone in
- 47:40Speaker 2: one week and just surprise the crap out of a team.
- 47:43Speaker 9: It would be really, really hard. I believe it would be.
- 47:48Speaker 2: But the student body laughed. I mean, I thought, I
- 47:53Speaker 2: think this whole thing.
- 47:55Speaker 9: You know what though, but that's not what anybody wants
- 47:57Speaker 9: to see. Then then you know, if if the Cowboys
- 48:00Speaker 9: did that, if you said, let's let's Cowways do it,
- 48:02Speaker 9: then the NFL is going to be mad because then
- 48:04Speaker 9: they're not throwing the ball enough.
- 48:05Speaker 2: In one game, like a big one game. Like we're
- 48:08Speaker 2: running wishbone, we're running triple option. Well that's the thing
- 48:12Speaker 2: that helmet you go all in coach.
- 48:14Speaker 9: Well, when we were at North Kota State, we had
- 48:16Speaker 9: to play Georgia Southern and they were all triple option.
- 48:20Speaker 9: And then my first year here, we're so excited we
- 48:23Speaker 9: get to go to a bowl game and we get
- 48:24Speaker 9: announced and we get to play Navy, and I'm like, oh,
- 48:28Speaker 9: this is gonna be a lot of fun, you know,
- 48:30Speaker 9: of having to defend triple option and your defensive line
- 48:33Speaker 9: getting cut on every play, and like, hey, we're playing Navy.
- 48:36Speaker 9: And the guy's like, hey, great, yeah, so you gotta
- 48:39Speaker 9: be unbelievably disciplined and know you're going to get cut
- 48:41Speaker 9: all the time. So it's yeah, it's really hard to
- 48:45Speaker 9: defend in and probably equally as hard.
- 48:47Speaker 7: You know.
- 48:48Speaker 9: The one rule that changed in college athletics a couple
- 48:51Speaker 9: of college football a couple of years ago.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Is the cut block.
- 48:53Speaker 9: You can't cut people down on the perimeter anymore like
- 48:57Speaker 9: you used to five years ago, three years ago. And
- 49:00Speaker 9: that's where some of those wishbone teams are probably having
- 49:02Speaker 9: a harder time.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Even though wide receivers used to cut people hard, which
- 49:06Speaker 2: they can't do anymore. But they wouldn't even even wide
- 49:08Speaker 2: out run just a tendon tear exactly. You hit it
- 49:13Speaker 2: wrong fairly one time. Yeah, those couple ocks. That's kind
- 49:17Speaker 2: of how Aaron Rodgers ended up tearing his achilles too.
- 49:21Speaker 9: Yeah, And that's the thing that's so hard right now
- 49:25Speaker 9: with you know, college athletics or college football has changed.
- 49:29Speaker 9: We've gotten better on the targeting, right, I mean, we've
- 49:32Speaker 9: used to get targeting and then the kid would have
- 49:34Speaker 9: the walk of shame because they'd throw him out and
- 49:36Speaker 9: you'd have to walk them off, send a support staff member.
- 49:39Speaker 9: Now they at least can stay on the sideline. But
- 49:42Speaker 9: you know, we've taken some of that. But now we're
- 49:45Speaker 9: having more lower body injuries because I can't go high
- 49:49Speaker 9: on you across the middle, so I go low on you.
- 49:52Speaker 9: And you see some ugly injuries because of it. And
- 49:56Speaker 9: you know, there's that happy medium of hiding between the
- 49:58Speaker 9: knees and the chest and there's not going to be
- 50:01Speaker 9: any penalty. But you know everybody talks about that. That's
- 50:03Speaker 9: a split second decision whether or not that guy's coming
- 50:06Speaker 9: at me. And if it's a kid that's sixty five,
- 50:08Speaker 9: two hundred and fifty pounds, do you really want to
- 50:10Speaker 9: go high on that guy?
- 50:11Speaker 2: No, the ANSWER's no. Case you're wondering, I know, I
- 50:14Speaker 2: wouldn't think you will. Our final five questions, I'm going
- 50:17Speaker 2: to start with this one. The rule of a wide
- 50:20Speaker 2: open fast offense. You know how to stop them act hurt?
- 50:23Speaker 2: Just grab your hamstring and get a cramp. Something's got
- 50:27Speaker 2: to change as far as if you get hurt, you
- 50:29Speaker 2: grab something, you cramp like that's a the rest of
- 50:32Speaker 2: the series. You're out, what would you suggest to the
- 50:33Speaker 2: rules committee?
- 50:35Speaker 9: It's gotten better already, it's gotten a ton better, but
- 50:39Speaker 9: probably just the rest of the series. You know, if
- 50:41Speaker 9: a guy comes out, if it's it's usually when it's
- 50:44Speaker 9: one hundred and four degrees and you're out there for
- 50:45Speaker 9: that tenth play that you could potentially have it happened.
- 50:48Speaker 9: But then they probably should just be the series. You
- 50:51Speaker 9: don't know if it's one more player or a more plays.
- 50:54Speaker 2: I mean, you know when they're lying. You know when
- 50:56Speaker 2: they're lying.
- 50:56Speaker 6: Oh?
- 50:57Speaker 9: Absolutely, so yeah, I think everybody everybody does. It's bad
- 51:00Speaker 9: when there's two guys down on the same play.
- 51:02Speaker 2: They forget who told you? I coach?
- 51:07Speaker 1: I remember watching Friday Night Lights or something, and and
- 51:10Speaker 1: there was the part where they're, oh, it's he's somebody
- 51:16Speaker 1: gets hurt and he and the coaches like, get in
- 51:18Speaker 1: the room, shoot it up. You're coming back out.
- 51:20Speaker 2: It's like almost like no choice.
- 51:22Speaker 1: When someone does get hurt, do you say, like, are
- 51:25Speaker 1: you hurt? Like?
- 51:25Speaker 2: What do you tell me? You're injured?
- 51:27Speaker 1: And this is when we work out. That's what he
- 51:29Speaker 1: tells me. Are you that kind of like are you hurt,
- 51:31Speaker 1: you're injured? Or are you just like you decide in
- 51:33Speaker 1: your own seat. No, it's a different world. Now I
- 51:35Speaker 1: just go to the trainers and they say, he's out.
- 51:38Speaker 1: We're checking on him, we're getting something, we're retaping him,
- 51:42Speaker 1: we're going in for an X ray. We'll come back,
- 51:43Speaker 1: let you know. And now I just let them tell
- 51:47Speaker 1: me is he going to be back or not? Yep,
- 51:49Speaker 1: he'll be back, coach, you got three more plays and
- 51:51Speaker 1: get him ready, and or nope, sorry, coach, he's out.
- 51:55Speaker 9: Oh come on, he's not. No, you just listen with
- 51:57Speaker 9: the trainers tell you and move on. So that's become
- 52:00Speaker 9: which it should be. We should be out of the
- 52:02Speaker 9: conversation on that, whether or not the kids healthy or.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Not to play, Do you still take their helmet so
- 52:08Speaker 2: they can't you in the game.
- 52:09Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 52:10Speaker 2: You ever had anyone hurt grab their helmet and go
- 52:12Speaker 2: back in the game and sneak on?
- 52:13Speaker 9: No, I would no, I mean they, I mean they'd
- 52:16Speaker 9: have to grab somebody else's holding form.
- 52:18Speaker 2: I go in different numbers, different changing your number, I
- 52:23Speaker 2: become number seventy seven, Like, who is this, Robbie Jones,
- 52:27Speaker 2: guy Man Good? I don't know.
- 52:29Speaker 9: But if I saw you in seventy seven play an
- 52:31Speaker 9: old line, I'd feel pretty good about our change.
- 52:32Speaker 2: And you should coach, and you should what's the what's
- 52:35Speaker 2: the ceiling here?
- 52:36Speaker 9: Oh boy?
- 52:37Speaker 6: Uh?
- 52:37Speaker 9: Compete for championships? Uh? And we feel like if we
- 52:42Speaker 9: continue to recruit the way we have been and continue
- 52:45Speaker 9: to get the right guys and continue to have guys
- 52:47Speaker 9: buy in and develop, compete for championships. Nobody knows. I mean,
- 52:53Speaker 9: the landscape of college football keeps changing with conference realignment
- 52:56Speaker 9: and people joining, and now beginning next year, there's gonna
- 52:59Speaker 9: be twelve teams in the playoff, and so if you
- 53:03Speaker 9: get into that tournament, because I used to be a
- 53:05Speaker 9: part of tournament play in the FCS. If you get
- 53:08Speaker 9: in that tournament, anything can happen.
- 53:10Speaker 2: That's so exciting to me. And the argument often was, well,
- 53:13Speaker 2: you want to keep the value of each game in
- 53:15Speaker 2: college football, but we also love the NFL and there's
- 53:18Speaker 2: value to each game. But also the playoffs are freaking awesome.
- 53:22Speaker 9: Yeah, and there has to be more value to every game.
- 53:26Speaker 9: But if a team slips up or slips up twice,
- 53:28Speaker 9: they ought to still have an opportunity. And that's unfortunate
- 53:31Speaker 9: right now because if a blue blood loses a game,
- 53:35Speaker 9: they're wanting to jump off that team and that team's done.
- 53:38Speaker 9: It takes a while for teams to peak, especially right
- 53:41Speaker 9: now because of the transfer portal, teams, players changing teams,
- 53:46Speaker 9: people having new rosters every year essentially or new players
- 53:50Speaker 9: that sometimes it takes you half a season and the
- 53:53Speaker 9: best teams at the end of the season and what
- 53:54Speaker 9: you're trying to get.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Coach, very stressful job you have. How do you get
- 53:59Speaker 1: your mind off football? You have a boat, you got
- 54:01Speaker 1: jet skis, I.
- 54:02Speaker 9: Go play golf, which we should have went and played golf.
- 54:06Speaker 2: We should we should have. Yeah, now you tell us
- 54:09Speaker 2: that because all you had to do is have mentioned
- 54:11Speaker 2: maybe and we come last week, and since.
- 54:14Speaker 9: It's an open week, we probably could have figured it
- 54:16Speaker 9: out if it weren't an open week.
- 54:18Speaker 7: So no, that's what I do.
- 54:19Speaker 9: I try to go play golf, get my mind off it,
- 54:22Speaker 9: and got a couple of great golf courses around here
- 54:25Speaker 9: that we go out and play. If not, sit in
- 54:27Speaker 9: the back, cook out, jump in the pool, just try
- 54:30Speaker 9: to try to get away from it as best you can.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Do you ever, throw your clubs on the team playing
- 54:34Speaker 1: and try to get there a day early and we's
- 54:36Speaker 1: around in.
- 54:37Speaker 9: No, I don't think that would probably work. They'll probably wonder, oh, sure,
- 54:41Speaker 9: you're a player's coach. Now you're just going out? Can
- 54:44Speaker 9: we go to a lot of players they want to
- 54:46Speaker 9: go with me?
- 54:47Speaker 2: Last question, you talk about the importance of having a
- 54:49Speaker 2: quarterback in every class at least attend PEP to do that.
- 54:52Speaker 2: So let's say that you sign a four or five
- 54:54Speaker 2: star quarterback last year, and now you're trying to recruit me.
- 54:57Speaker 2: I'm another four or five star guy. But I mean,
- 54:59Speaker 2: there's there's this guy one year ahead of me. How
- 55:01Speaker 2: in the world do you get me to come here
- 55:03Speaker 2: when you got a guy in front of me, a.
- 55:06Speaker 9: Lot of those four and five stars think they're going
- 55:08Speaker 9: to beat everybody out. So that's one positive thing is
- 55:11Speaker 9: now I can beat that guy out. The second thing
- 55:14Speaker 9: is they they know, they see how the evolution of
- 55:18Speaker 9: football is. Somebody may leave also, you know, people get hurt.
- 55:23Speaker 9: You know, every year that I've been here, other than
- 55:26Speaker 9: our first, our quarterback has missed a little bit of time.
- 55:29Speaker 9: So there's always that opportunity. And you know, if you're
- 55:32Speaker 9: still selling the fact that we had in North Kota State,
- 55:36Speaker 9: we had Brock Jensen, who was the all time winning
- 55:39Speaker 9: his quarterback and FCS at one time, and we brought
- 55:42Speaker 9: Carson Wentzon. Carson sat for a couple of years and
- 55:45Speaker 9: then Carson won a couple championships and then we had
- 55:48Speaker 9: Easton Stick come in and Easton Stick ended up being
- 55:50Speaker 9: the all time winning his quarterback in FCS football and
- 55:52Speaker 9: behind him was Trey Lance we brought in. So we
- 55:55Speaker 9: brought in the next guy every time that they knew
- 56:00Speaker 9: that their opportunity would come, and when they had that
- 56:02Speaker 9: opportunity with the type of offense we run, and same
- 56:05Speaker 9: thing here with the type of offense that that we run.
- 56:08Speaker 9: When I get my shot and I make the most
- 56:09Speaker 9: of it. It's going to give me that opportunity to play.
- 56:11Speaker 2: At the next level.
- 56:12Speaker 9: Coach, thanks for the time, absolutely, thanks for coming to Manhattan.
- 56:15Speaker 7: Kansas.
- 56:16Speaker 2: This this feels like where I come from. I think
- 56:19Speaker 2: that's why I root for Kansas State and like my
- 56:22Speaker 2: parallel universe of Kansas State to come from. I'm from Arkansas.
- 56:27Speaker 2: It's all we had. It's all we had was University
- 56:29Speaker 2: of Arkansas. And like we hated Texas I mentioned earlier,
- 56:31Speaker 2: I still hae Texas. We heard that, and it's like
- 56:34Speaker 2: now I hate Kansas too, and be honest with your coach,
- 56:37Speaker 2: and so it makes me love you even more. Those
- 56:40Speaker 2: to come back for a game. Yeah, I hear you.
- 56:42Speaker 2: We eat crap out of Kansas basketball last year. But
- 56:44Speaker 2: like their fans are just like nasty. You know, you
- 56:47Speaker 2: don't have to say anything. I'll say it. You were
- 56:49Speaker 2: just talking to you talking over here. But it's like,
- 56:52Speaker 2: my love, I enjoy what you're doing with the program,
- 56:55Speaker 2: and then I understand how the fans this program feel.
- 56:58Speaker 2: But then it's the parallels of I just can't take
- 57:01Speaker 2: Kansas man. That's it. Coach.
- 57:03Speaker 9: Okay, well, we appreciate you guys, all right, there we
- 57:06Speaker 9: go and come back for the game.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Man, you will get you a spot all rank you coach,
- 57:10Speaker 1: Happy birthday to us, all right, yeah, your dinner in
- 57:13Speaker 1: boys Ys the Chilies.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, gets to pay for but invoices. That may
- 57:17Speaker 2: take a little while for our our department to get county,
- 57:20Speaker 2: but something will happen surely. Okay, thank you.
- 57:22Speaker 9: Don't want to just leave me a credit card.
- 57:23Speaker 2: Now we're we're good. Cowboys minus two with the Chargers, Eddie.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they're gonna cover. They're gonna win that game.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Of course. Kevin Chargers, what just piss you off? Yep,
- 57:42Speaker 2: because he hates it that you enjoy his team losing.
- 57:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you the speech I gave my kids.
- 57:47Speaker 1: It's the NFL. You have no idea what you're talking about.
- 57:49Speaker 1: We always why not speak to yourself?
- 57:51Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Mean, if you're gonna tell somebody else they have no
- 57:54Speaker 2: idea what they're talking about, you should say to yourself.
- 57:55Speaker 1: Well, no, it's just my kids always basing on their
- 57:57Speaker 1: last week performance. It's like, look that's that's the way.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Look they look like terror. They looked terrible last week.
- 58:02Speaker 1: This week they're gonna come back and look like, oh
- 58:03Speaker 1: my gosh, they're great again. And then we're gonna be like, well,
- 58:05Speaker 1: where are the Cowboys? I don't know who they are?
- 58:07Speaker 1: Are they the cowboys that played the forty nine Ers?
- 58:09Speaker 1: Are the cowys that played the Chargers? Who knows they're
- 58:12Speaker 1: gonna kill the Chargers. They're gonna be back to.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Where they were. But you just said nobody knows anything,
- 58:16Speaker 2: including yourself. Well that's true, But what I'm saying is
- 58:18Speaker 2: just go the opposite of what you think. Yeah, I
- 58:20Speaker 2: think the Cowboys cover Seahawks. Bang all that Bengals minus three?
- 58:26Speaker 2: Is Joe Burrow healthy?
- 58:27Speaker 6: Not?
- 58:28Speaker 2: My sources say, no, who's your source? I can't tell you.
- 58:31Speaker 2: You have a source for Yeah, yeah, it's not your wife.
- 58:34Speaker 2: I can't tell you. But my source says he's not
- 58:37Speaker 2: fully healthy yet, even though they took him off the
- 58:39Speaker 2: practice the injury report. But I still take I'm taking
- 58:42Speaker 2: Seattle mostly because I bought him in that league. I
- 58:44Speaker 2: need them to win. I can't speak anything bad in
- 58:46Speaker 2: their existence. Ravens minus three at the Titans. They both
- 58:49Speaker 2: went to London at different times, which is interesting. The
- 58:51Speaker 2: Ravens went for a whole week, and I think the
- 58:53Speaker 2: Titans just land and get off the plane and go play.
- 58:55Speaker 2: All right, we're here, guys, get your pads, let's go.
- 58:57Speaker 1: We got.
- 59:00Speaker 2: No Yeah, they'll wait until the last minute. Ravens minus
- 59:03Speaker 2: three and a half in London, Go Eddie, I'm gonna
- 59:05Speaker 2: go Titans. Ravens been looking weird lately. Oh well they're
- 59:08Speaker 2: dropping balls like crazy.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Yeah, not finishing games, doing weird stuff.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Crazy Ravens.
- 59:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Titans. Guy owned them, I'm biased. Oh
- 59:17Speaker 2: you own them? Yeah? I have six teams in my league.
- 59:21Speaker 2: I thought you really owned the team. Commanders of Falcons
- 59:24Speaker 2: Falcons minus two and a.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Half Falcons b Jehan's awesome.
- 59:29Speaker 3: Let's go Commanders.
- 59:31Speaker 2: I go Commanders to Commander's kind of salty and I
- 59:33Speaker 2: think two. We're gonna start seeing teams eat themselves on purpose,
- 59:38Speaker 2: but not on purpose like Minnesota. There's no way Justin
- 59:42Speaker 2: Jefferson comes back. If they're trying to get that number
- 59:44Speaker 2: one pick and they're trie Kirk Cousins, Like, if they're
- 59:45Speaker 2: gonna commit, commit because Kirk Cousins, it doesn't most of
- 59:50Speaker 2: his money this last year, he's got like ten million,
- 59:53Speaker 2: so you pay him, but most of that money on
- 59:55Speaker 2: his contract is already bonus money he's got, so he's
- 59:59Speaker 2: been paid. So what's it's a rental. It's pretty cheap rental.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: If you get Kirk Cousins, I would trade him. I
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: would not bring Justin Jefferson back. I'd lose every freaking game.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Get on, like Kayleb Williams.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Patriots got that doory.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Well, they don't have to change anything. They just keep
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: going as is. They don't have to make brown been
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: thrown with the right arm. Sorry magef that thing with
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: the right arm? Who knows? Geez, Niners and Browns nine
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: ers four and a half minor four and a half niner.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: The easy pick is San Francisco.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: They had a big win and they're saying that Deshaun
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: may not even play.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: So did you play last week?
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so here we go. Let's go Niners again.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: That's why those games. I would stay away from. This
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: one really, Oh because yeah, you never know, guys, No,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: not because what you told your kid, I mean, you
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: never know, you never know. It seems so these games
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: it seem like they're just guaranteed slam dunks.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Usually they aren't. Yeah, well I thought about that too.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Like last week when the Cowboys played the Niners. Everyone
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: picked the Niners, you know, like all the pregame commentators whatever, Niners,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: nine Ers, nine ers. And then Maria Taylor goes, well,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: I gotta go to the Cowboys because every time we
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: picked one team, they always end up being the one
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: that loses. That's not the case, Like that wasn't the
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: case on Sunday. That's not Niners are gonna win this
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: one for sure.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: But will they cover?
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Yes, they'll kill I think they beat them by fourteen?
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Is anymore? Is that your guarantee? Yes, you're you're gonna
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: put on your broken promise? Yes, it is all right,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: commit Eddie to the broken promises. Jar He's got the
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Niners minus four and a half. That is my pick, Kevin,
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: who's your promise?
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: That's what I was gonna go with.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Really, yeah, what let's double up on it?
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Uh uh okay? Not the pauseitive. The only thing is
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: it's up to seven now, I.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Think, yeah, seven, so we have it's now up to seven?
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: Yeah, because.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Fifty I printed my sheet out of a four and
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: a half. Yeah, so that's what I was like, I
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: don't Eddie. I did just say seven though, right, Yeah, okay,
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: I said seven? Okay, cool, So let's seven. I'm gonna
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: go with them at seven. Okay, Well then I'm gonna
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: just come trow my sheet away and move on because
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: I printed this off like two hours ago, so outdated. Yeah,
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: and that's yours, Kevin. Yeah, Read, you have a promise
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: this week. Yeah, I'm gonna go Commanders after what y'all
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: just said, because I was gonna go forty nine ers,
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: but now I'm gonna go command Bro. Triple up. Yeah,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: let's go triple up.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Nevin, you feel good about Patriots?
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: No?
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Read? Why are you asking quest?
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Have you watched them?
- 1:02:15Speaker 7: Wait? Who do you have?
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: Washington reads?
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Walk in? Pull timid Washington. Sometimes if it's cold, you
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: don't want to get your thing wet because it's like
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: wait and slow. Just jump in, you'll be timid.
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll go Commanders plus two and a half.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: I like that bet though. And finally mine is already
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: bet mine, so let me pull it up and then
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: we'll get lunchbox.
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: Here.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Mine is, Duke, what's it at?
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Now?
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: I bet it at?
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: Duke?
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: What is your papers? Minus? Well, Duke minus two is
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: what I bet it at. But I want to grab
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: it if it's better. I want to take that now
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: you put you looking at it. So I'm gonna go
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: Duke over North Carolina State. I took the two and
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: a half when half on my thing here, that's good.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the best off, all right. So I
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: have a Duke minus two and a half. All right,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: very good? So yours? How much as much moneys in
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: the pot?
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: We still have only our money. They haven't paid anything.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but us. You know what, every show that you
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: don't pay for now on be five dollars interests. Okay,
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: I got it, So you have it on the next show.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: But I'll go to the gas station right now. You
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: leave during the show, I'll be back. All right.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: We're gonna bring Nchoks in. Talking about Kansas for a second.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: He's warning his Kansas hoodie, Kansas one of these we
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: were talking about the entitled Bowl. Yeah, definitely entitled Kansas
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: basketball for sure. It's not a shot towards you. I
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: want to be entitled. I want to be Alabama. I
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: want to be USC I want to be teams that
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: want to fire their coach if they don't have a
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Final four season. I want to be teams that seem
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: like jerks because they win all the time and it
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: gets annoying. But we're not Kansas? Is that team? Do
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: they really feel like Jerks? I mean yeah, when we
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: meet you guys, it's it's CUAA tournament. I was last year.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: The Kansas crew is none nice? Isn't their mean?
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: Well?
- 1:04:02Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean we were sad and depressed. But I mean,
- 1:04:05Speaker 8: I don't know if we're entitled.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: I feel like you're entitled to win basketball games. You
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: feel like Kansas plays they should win. You feel like
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Kansas should win the Big Twelve?
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Yeah, like you if you show up and you do
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: what you normally do, you should win or something wrong.
- 1:04:18Speaker 8: I mean, I would say that we have the best
- 1:04:21Speaker 8: coach in the Big Twelve, and it's impressive what he's done.
- 1:04:23Speaker 8: Even when we have teams that aren't very good, he
- 1:04:26Speaker 8: finds a way to win the Big Twelve, which is incredible.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: So do you expect to win the Big Twelve?
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: Yes?
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Every year?
- 1:04:32Speaker 8: Yes, There's some years that I'm like there's no way,
- 1:04:34Speaker 8: there's they're not good enough, and then they do it
- 1:04:35Speaker 8: and I'm like, holy crap.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: And do you feel like people should just respect you
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: regardless because you're Kansas?
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: Your title? Yeah, but it's okay. I want to be
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: in title as a sports program. That's why I hate
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Texas because they win. It sucks Texas wins what generally
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: at sports? They are usually number one in the old
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: all sports is together them.
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: Camford diving and swimming. No one cares.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Regardless Texas baseball championships. Yeah, they have good basketball teams.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: They're just always relevant, always and even if.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: They're not, they still are because they're people are angry
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: at them for not being relevant. So Texas hate Texas
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: because of that. Always pay to Texas, Tennessee. That's been Alabama, Georgia.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: I hate everybody the wins. So Kansas is one of
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: those schools that we hate. Why did your coach get
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: off scott free?
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: Because the NCAA realized they have no power. They have
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: no power. They started paying players anyway, and they realized
- 1:05:30Speaker 8: this is so stupid. We wasted so much money and
- 1:05:32Speaker 8: resources on this crap and we don't really want to
- 1:05:35Speaker 8: waste our time with it.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Will you catch eddy up on what happened? Thank you?
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: So they'll have a confused look at my face. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: that's my fault. Stet it up.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: I did see the headline where like there's no charges
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: or whatever, like the penalty is not that bad.
- 1:05:47Speaker 8: Sure, they got five to one level one violations that
- 1:05:51Speaker 8: were supposed to like ban us from the postseason. Bill
- 1:05:54Speaker 8: self was going to be in deep trouble. They were
- 1:05:56Speaker 8: going to put on probation imustration for illegal benefits.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Team cut them off, Yeah, all of them.
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: Yeah, because allegedly they were funneling payments through Adidas. We
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: were paying players and what we what Kansas said was
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: we had no idea this was going on. This was
- 1:06:13Speaker 8: a rogue Adidas employee that was paying the players. We
- 1:06:17Speaker 8: didn't have anything to do with it. So it was
- 1:06:19Speaker 8: a five year back and forth of like, oh, let
- 1:06:21Speaker 8: me see your text messages and what do we find
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: out that Kansas didn't know anything.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: So they did get paid. They did what do we think.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: We know that the NCAA just doesn't have the power
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: and now players just got lucky. Kansas got lucky with
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: the timing of getting in trouble.
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: Right, And same with Oklahoma State. The Oklahoma State was
- 1:06:40Speaker 8: the only one that was that they really got They
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: got banned on this postseason.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: That was the only one.
- 1:06:45Speaker 8: And here's the thing, and that was also Adidas. Yes,
- 1:06:48Speaker 8: it was the same guy, same little And listen, do
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: you think deep down that Kansas was paying the players? Yes, absolutely,
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: but goes titled everybody pays the players, we suck. Oh man,
- 1:06:59Speaker 8: everybody he pays players do plays players. North Carolina? I
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: mean North Carolina made up fake classes. There was not
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: even real classes, and we're just putting them on their
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: report cards like that and they got no trouble. Yeah,
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: that's crazy. I mean it's like they did it for years.
- 1:07:14Speaker 8: It's like, oh, but now we have to take down
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: the Final four banner.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Really, Oh that's one of the penal No, and that
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: would never even bother me, Like, okayak trophy. Now I
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: still got to experience that. You can't. You can't do
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: men in black to me. If you could, that would
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: suck and I would be like, you can have it back.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: I want to keep it. But if you can't go
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: men in black, I still enjoy it. I don't have
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: banner my house anyway.
- 1:07:35Speaker 8: Yeah, well, the kids, they vacated some wins, so now
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: they're nothing winning his basketball.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Program in history. Oh that's in the books.
- 1:07:43Speaker 8: Yeah, they didn't go to the Final four, and eighteen
- 1:07:46Speaker 8: eighteen there was only three teams in the Final four now,
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: and Bill self only has four Final four appearances instead
- 1:07:52Speaker 8: of five.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's tough, but I would just say five.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: What are they going to do? Yeah?
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: What can they say?
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: He did go to five? Yeah, but in like thirty
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: years when you look back, you're like, well that's not
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: there says four except for the asterisk, and you're like,
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: only are the asterisk? Oh, he's all I guess he
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: was five.
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:08:05Speaker 8: So it sucks, but whatever, as long as we and
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: then they said are reaching the postseason the NCAA tournament.
- 1:08:11Speaker 8: We had an n Cuba record, but that is now
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: snapped because we didn't make.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: It in twenty eighteen. Wow wow finger printes.
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but you got lucky that players are being paid
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: now because because of that, they're going, eh, who cares? Now,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: it's for the same reason reggieus should be given his
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: heisman back. Give it to him.
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: It's so stupid they took it away in the first place.
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: All these people, I mean, Zion Williamson got paid by
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: Duke Oh yeah, and we act like, oh no, because
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: coach k We're gonna but who cares. Everybody was playing.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: Everybody there was a dude that I went to high
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: school with.
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: He played golf at the University of Texas and he
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: comes out one day and guess what, brand news had
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: a golf club sitting in the back of his car.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Who's that not gonna say? You guys, listen to Lunchbox
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: and Raymundo Sore Losers show be up today. It's probably
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: already up by the time you're hearing this Lunchbox. Thanks man.
