  You know, by now it has been all over the news And, you know,

  if anybody who knows me I grew up a huge wrestling fan And the legendary icon

  in the business Hulk Hogan passed away yesterday at the age of 71 Due to a cardiac arrest,

  It hit me pretty hard, I'm not going to lie to you I was, it was one of my bucket
• 2:01
  lists One of my dreams to meet Hulk Hogan And I was so grateful that in March
• 2:07
  He came to my area for the first time in many,
• 2:10
  many years and I was able to meet him.
• 2:13
  And I want to share with you the story about what he did and how it truly had an impact in my life.

  Well, first and foremost, if you know anything about, you know,
• 2:24
  I know wrestling is staged and everything like that. I want to make sure everybody knows that.
• 2:28
  But with the wrestling industry, when you're a young guy and a young child like
• 2:34
  I was dealing with weight, even at the age of, you know, 11, 12,
• 2:38
  13 to my teens, there was a character, there was a hero of mine named Hulk Hogan,
• 2:44
  who told you to say your prayers, eat your vitamins,
• 2:47
  train every day and believe in yourself. And having that.
• 2:51
  That hero, that character in my early ages, including my father,
• 2:56
  was a huge influence in my life.
• 2:59
  It allowed me to feel good about myself, even if I didn't feel great or feel
• 3:04
  good about what I looked like in the mirror.
• 3:06
  And it allowed me to understand that I should take care of myself.
• 3:09
  Here I am today at 47 years old, and I am in the best shape I've ever been in,
• 3:14
  losing over, you know, almost 30 pounds.
• 3:17
  And I'm very grateful for that. So let me fast forward now.

  When I went to meet Hulk Hogan in March, you know, I was like 13th in line and
• 3:25
  I was like, oh my God, you know, over 40 years, I've always wanted to meet this
• 3:29
  guy. What do you say to your hero?
• 3:31
  Well, we get up there and I forgot to buy, well, I bought a hat,
• 3:35
  but they didn't give me the hat in time for him to sign it.
• 3:37
  So when I get up there, actually, let me phrase that. I had the money to buy the hat.
• 3:41
  I had, I was waiting for the guy. He kind of skipped me. And then it was my turn to meet Hogan.
• 3:46
  So when I moved up and I finally got to see Hulk Hogan, he saw my cross and
• 3:51
  he said, I like your cross brother. And I go, I like yours.
• 3:54
  And I told him, I said, listen, you know, as a kid growing up,
• 3:57
  you inspired me and I want to thank you for what you did for the wrestling business.

  But I want to share with you, Lord, the guy that I'm in ministry school.
• 4:04
  And I wanted you to know that, that, you know, that, that God loves you. God believes in you.

  And, and he stopped me And he goes, so you're my brother in Christ.
• 4:13
  And I said, yes, that's right. He gave me a big handshake.
• 4:18
  And I said, I'm sorry, I'm waiting for the hat so I can buy one.

  He goes, no, no, no, hold on one second. He asks his buddy to grab a hat.

  He signs the hat and he gives me the hat. And Hulk Hogan says to me,

  brothers in Christ don't pay for hats.
• 4:33
  And that was amazing. So he bought, he gave me the hat for free.

  We took a picture and that's the picture that you're seeing now. on today's episode.

  What is the overall message that I have for you today? In life,
• 4:46
  we're gonna have heroes.
• 4:48
  In life, there are people that will come in and out and encourage us and inspire us.

  Never forget what God has put in place for all of us.

  Never forget that we are put in the right place at the right time for a reason, for a purpose.

  Try your very best to not speak negative. Try your very best to not allow others

  to steal your joy and allow yourself the opportunity to be who you are intended to be,

  a person that is good, a person that just has the ability to do anything that they choose to be.

  You have the opportunity to grow up and be whoever you want to be.

  We all have a clean slate. We've all done things in the past that we don't like.

  We've all said things that maybe we regret.

  When you trust in God, when you believe in God and you ask for forgiveness.

  God forgives all of us, but you have to learn to forgive and you have to learn

  to love everyone as you love yourself.

  A lot of people say, well, you're a pastor, so that means you don't believe
• 5:58
  in gay marriage. You don't believe in all this stuff. Let me tell you something.

  I can't stand up here and say as a future minister that we are all welcome at
• 6:07
  the table and then say the opposite.
• 6:09
  So for me, everyone is welcome at the table.

  I don't judge and I don't ask anyone to tell me, to tell them how to live people's lives.

  If you're happy, if you're doing well, if you're good to others,
• 6:26
  I respect you for the person that God created and I respect your lifestyle,
• 6:32
  and that's the way I live.

  So this morning, I ask each and every single one of you.

  To go out into the world, try to do one random act of kindness.
• 6:43
  Try to do anything in your power to show others that there is good in the world.

  And more importantly, let us remember all the individuals that have come into
• 6:52
  our lives and those that are about to be in our lives.

  And give them the same respect as you want to be respected.

  But more importantly, give them nothing but joy, happiness, inspire.

  And you should be inspired to be a better person.

  Each and every day. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for today.
