- 0:00Speaker 1: Guys, it's finally back.
- 0:02Speaker 2: It feels like it's been forever without the Premier League.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Of course, George is the happiest because we know that
- 0:08Speaker 2: football means gigs, means money for the Laurent family because
- 0:13Speaker 2: he's not been in enough places across the international break,
- 0:15Speaker 2: of course. But yes, that does also mean that the
- 0:17Speaker 2: Premier League and fantasy Premier League is very much back.
- 0:21Speaker 2: It means my wild card is getting very real. If
- 0:24Speaker 2: yours is active, I know lots of them are. I'm
- 0:26Speaker 2: sure you're getting as panicked as I am. And maybe
- 0:29Speaker 2: these guys... their transfers, they're finally going to have to
- 0:31Speaker 2: sort them out. Sam, are you feeling excited, nervous? How
- 0:34Speaker 2: are you feeling about it coming back?
- 0:35Speaker 3: There's a lot of flags in my team. There's just
- 0:37Speaker 3: a lot of yellow flagged players, which is okay at
- 0:41Speaker 3: the moment. I'm hoping that the press conferences might clear
- 0:44Speaker 3: up a couple of them and some of them might
- 0:46Speaker 3: be fit to go and that would help me out massively.
- 0:48Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm still kind of holding my transfers, waiting
- 0:51Speaker 3: for actual Premier League managers to probably not tell me
- 0:55Speaker 3: the information.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I was going to say, come on, you've played this
- 0:58Speaker 1: game a long time.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but hopefully we might get some training ground pitches or,
- 1:04Speaker 3: you know, there's always, always things that happen and then
- 1:06Speaker 3: change the way you think. And I also just wanted
- 1:09Speaker 3: to make sure that we got through, because unlike you, Kels,
- 1:11Speaker 3: where your wildcard's active, you can make 800,000 changes if
- 1:14Speaker 3: you want to across the international break. Obviously, I was
- 1:16Speaker 3: really conscious of not wanting to change somebody that Might
- 1:19Speaker 3: then go and play in the international break, might pick
- 1:21Speaker 3: up an injury, might cause me further headaches down the line.
- 1:25Speaker 3: So patience has been key over the international break. And
- 1:29Speaker 3: I'm actually really looking forward to hitting some transfers because
- 1:32Speaker 3: it feels like it's been a while. I've got three
- 1:34Speaker 3: sat in the bank. I've not made one for a bit.
- 1:36Speaker 3: So it'd be nice to actually make a transfer.
- 1:39Speaker 2: You won't have made any yet, but are your plans
- 1:42Speaker 2: any more firm?
- 1:43Speaker 4: Of course, I've done them already, Kels. Have you? Yeah,
- 1:46Speaker 4: it's all about talent, vision and planning. Yeah, I made two.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Tzolakis in goal, I was very impressed with him. As
- 1:52Speaker 4: you know, in the international break, I still think that
- 1:55Speaker 4: Hull City will build their season on defensive strength, really.
- 2:01Speaker 4: And I think he's going to have a lot of
- 2:03Speaker 4: saves to make and things like that. That's the first one.
- 2:06Speaker 4: And then Josh King, the second one for Elim Elendiai.
- 2:09Speaker 4: So Tzolakis in for Lamens. who I've lost faith in
- 2:12Speaker 4: a long time ago and in United overall, to be fair.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And then Josh King for Illiman and Jai. That saves
- 2:17Speaker 4: me a bit of money. I've got 0.5 in the
- 2:19Speaker 4: bank now, for example. And Josh King and Fulham play
- 2:23Speaker 4: the three-promoted side back-to-back now. We've said that before. It's
- 2:26Speaker 4: really good for them. And then after that, even if
- 2:28Speaker 4: he doesn't hit the highs that I would love him
- 2:30Speaker 4: to hit, although he's been on really good form this season,
- 2:33Speaker 4: then I can always bench him. He could be my
- 2:35Speaker 4: fifth midfielder on the bench. So yeah, Solakis and King
- 2:38Speaker 4: for me.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Okay, thanks for listening. I've done this pod backwards. We
- 2:40Speaker 1: normally do transfers at the MLC next week.
- 2:44Speaker 2: No, good to... I think a lot of people are
- 2:46Speaker 2: just desperate to make a transfer. So it's good to
- 2:48Speaker 2: hear and stay listening because we, of course, don't quite
- 2:51Speaker 2: know what Sam's plans are just yet. Now, one other
- 2:54Speaker 2: thing to say is I know that some people have
- 2:56Speaker 2: opened up their teams. Maybe you haven't been obsessing as
- 2:58Speaker 2: much as we have over your fantasy teams. And you
- 3:00Speaker 2: might have opened up the app or the website and gone,
- 3:03Speaker 2: oh my gosh, it is flags FC. There is flags
- 3:06Speaker 2: absolutely everywhere.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Well, there's good news.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You can actually take part in the Second Chance League.
- 3:12Speaker 2: We've had this before and it's great. Even if you've
- 3:14Speaker 2: not had a great start, whatever, it just gives you
- 3:16Speaker 2: an opportunity to compete on kind of a different level
- 3:19Speaker 2: to ensure there's still plenty to see, to kind of
- 3:21Speaker 2: go for this season. Now, all managers are automatically entered
- 3:24Speaker 2: into it. Scores start from game week six, which is,
- 3:26Speaker 2: of course, this weekend. There's some really good prizes to be.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Won as well.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So just put everything in the past. It's a fresh
- 3:32Speaker 2: slate and you could still win a big prize and
- 3:34Speaker 2: have a brilliant season. So, yeah, kind of keep an
- 3:37Speaker 2: eye on that. You'll see it, won't you, Sam, on
- 3:39Speaker 2: the website and app. You're automatically into it. So it'll
- 3:41Speaker 2: just kind of become one of your leagues.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 3:44Speaker 4: That's right. Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 3: So it doesn't matter if your first five weeks haven't
- 3:47Speaker 3: gone as well as you would hope. You've got an
- 3:49Speaker 3: opportunity now to have a good, I was going to
- 3:52Speaker 3: say second half of the season, because that's normally when
- 3:54Speaker 3: the second chance league starts, but actually a good post-international break.
- 3:59Speaker 3: part of the season I think that shows how long
- 4:01Speaker 3: the international break has been the fact that the Premier
- 4:02Speaker 3: League decided they need to do that this time and
- 4:05Speaker 3: of course there's still time to join our pod mini
- 4:06Speaker 3: league the code is Q0HV1Q you do need to actually
- 4:10Speaker 3: enter that you don't get into that automatically just because
- 4:13Speaker 3: you listen to this do make sure you join us
- 4:15Speaker 3: in there okay then there's been a lot of other
- 4:17Speaker 3: football played during this break of course while there's been
- 4:20Speaker 3: no Premier League so it's probably important that we talk
- 4:22Speaker 3: through a few of the headlines and it feels like
- 4:25Speaker 3: in the last week a lot more flags have appeared
- 4:28Speaker 3: And perhaps we're having a lot more panics.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Let's start with some good news. Arsenal, Jules, Martin Odegaard
- 4:35Speaker 2: was back. You told us he would be. Bukayo Saka
- 4:38Speaker 2: played really well for England. I was going to say
- 4:41Speaker 2: good news. That's about probably where it stops for Arsenal because,
- 4:44Speaker 2: of course, then we had what looks like an injury
- 4:47Speaker 2: for Esri Konza.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, Konza missed out on the last England
- 4:52Speaker 4: game and went back to London. I don't think there
- 4:55Speaker 4: was too much worry in why he was coming back.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I think he was probably more of a niggle than
- 5:01Speaker 4: anything else. And he'd played, obviously, quite a lot with
- 5:04Speaker 4: England before that last game. So I don't think there's
- 5:06Speaker 4: too much worry for Mikel Arteta there. The big ones, obviously,
- 5:10Speaker 4: are Havertz and Torres. We talked about them in the
- 5:12Speaker 4: last few shows, who picked up the injuries and look like,
- 5:15Speaker 4: even if they're not too serious, I think they're just
- 5:18Speaker 4: muscular injuries, probably two to three weeks for both of them.
- 5:20Speaker 4: But that probably means they will miss... the game against
- 5:24Speaker 4: Leeds on Saturday, this weekend. But they've got Mikel Marino,
- 5:27Speaker 4: who scored with Spain again and had three goals and
- 5:30Speaker 4: one assist in the four games that he played with
- 5:32Speaker 4: Spain in his international break that I expect him to
- 5:34Speaker 4: play as the number nine ahead of Giocares even against Leeds.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Calafiori played really well and scored even with Italy too.
- 5:41Speaker 4: And Max Lewis-Kelly that you saw with England too, I
- 5:43Speaker 4: thought he did really well when he played. So there
- 5:46Speaker 4: were some, obviously, negatives with the injuries, but some positives
- 5:48Speaker 4: in terms of some of the form of those Arsenal players.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Yeah, sorry, I actually completely forgot about Mikel Moreno scoring.
- 5:53Speaker 2: That's actually quite big in terms of FPL because, as
- 5:55Speaker 2: you said, Jules could be playing up front for Arsenal.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That's what we're expecting as well. Elsewhere, Morgan Rodgers came
- 6:02Speaker 2: on for 20 minutes and scored. Then he started and
- 6:05Speaker 2: got an assist in the final game. I didn't think
- 6:07Speaker 2: he did too much for England, but maybe that's because
- 6:11Speaker 2: I'm comparing him to England's kind of first choice starting XI,
- 6:14Speaker 2: but probably had enough minutes to tick over. Sam I
- 6:18Speaker 2: guess with Chelsea it feels like all of the eyes
- 6:20Speaker 2: are going to be on whether Cole Palmer though and
- 6:22Speaker 2: Joao Pedro are going.
- 6:23Speaker 3: To be fit really oh for sure and I think
- 6:26Speaker 3: it's a difficult one with Chelsea isn't it because like
- 6:27Speaker 3: obviously I watched Morgan Rogers I was like right okay
- 6:29Speaker 3: good that's one less issue he's played he's fine he's
- 6:32Speaker 3: got through those matches and we've got some attacking returns
- 6:34Speaker 3: out of him that's great but as we saw in
- 6:37Speaker 3: the game against Brentford just before the international break they
- 6:39Speaker 3: didn't look the same without Joao Pedro so I am
- 6:43Speaker 3: kind of all eyes on on what Alonso probably won't
- 6:47Speaker 3: say in his press conference about Parma and Dal Pedro.
- 6:50Speaker 3: But nice to see Rodgers continuing with his attacking returns
- 6:54Speaker 3: over the international break.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Elsewhere, McGinn scored from the penalty spot for Scotland in Doi,
- 7:00Speaker 2: scored actually in the weekend game and then the game
- 7:01Speaker 2: in midweek as well for Switzerland. Adjo scored for Norway,
- 7:05Speaker 2: which of course was assisted by Odegaard. We've already heard
- 7:08Speaker 2: that Jules was very impressed with Salakis. He got a
- 7:10Speaker 2: clean sheet against Germany, not bad. Chow got a clean.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Sheet against Greece.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Tel got a hat-trick for France under-21s. Which of those
- 7:17Speaker 2: catches your eye, Sam, or is there anything I've missed?
- 7:21Speaker 3: No, I think that's the majority of the Premier League guys.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I mean, I hope Tel Gamsun scores another hat-trick because
- 7:26Speaker 3: we could really do with some goals at Spurs, but
- 7:28Speaker 3: I don't think you're going there regardless because it's really
- 7:31Speaker 3: difficult to know who's going to get the start there.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I guess for me, the Arsenal question comes back around,
- 7:38Speaker 3: doesn't it? Because I was very impressed by Saka, but
- 7:40Speaker 3: Odegaard impressed as well in that final game. So, I'm
- 7:44Speaker 3: still a bit torn on how you invest in Arsenal,
- 7:46Speaker 3: particularly as a Solis owner who, I mean, I've had
- 7:49Speaker 3: enough patience with that man. He's going to disappear from
- 7:51Speaker 3: my team after, or this week, he'll be one of
- 7:54Speaker 3: my transfers out. The question is, where do you go
- 7:56Speaker 3: from there? Because my original plan was to hold Bruno
- 8:00Speaker 3: Fernandes for the game against Spurs and then probably move
- 8:02Speaker 3: him to Saka. But I had a card at the
- 8:04Speaker 3: price point that he is, has continued to impress. So
- 8:07Speaker 3: a tough decision between those two.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I had a really bad Arsenal conundrum earlier in
- 8:12Speaker 2: the week because, as you know, I had the treble up.
- 8:14Speaker 2: with Rea, Konza and Calafiori. And then I knew Saka
- 8:18Speaker 2: was going to go up and I've decided that I
- 8:19Speaker 2: want to go with Saka. And I was at Sunday night,
- 8:23Speaker 2: he said he was likely to change. A reminder again,
- 8:25Speaker 2: if you haven't used this facility on the Premier League website,
- 8:27Speaker 2: it's brilliant. You can go along the tabs and click
- 8:29Speaker 2: price changes and it will tell you who's likely to
- 8:31Speaker 2: change overnight. And generally, if it says likely to change,
- 8:35Speaker 2: they're probably not going to change, but I'm like checking
- 8:37Speaker 2: at half 11 at night when it's going to change
- 8:39Speaker 2: at midnight. If it's very likely to change, move that
- 8:43Speaker 2: player on or.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Bring them in because they're going to change pretty much.
- 8:46Speaker 2: And Sunday night, I was like, he's likely to change.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I've got another day to make my Arsenal decision. I
- 8:51Speaker 2: was at a football dinner on Monday night and at
- 8:54Speaker 2: course to midnight, I was like, A, I wanted to
- 8:56Speaker 2: go home. I'm a pregnant woman that needed to get home. B,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I was like, the price changes. And I realised that
- 9:02Speaker 2: Saka had become very likely to change at course to midnight.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So there I am at 10 to midnight interrupting a
- 9:06Speaker 2: conversation with someone to make a transfer and I had to.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Make my Arsenal decision.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Because I couldn't bring him in and so I got
- 9:11Speaker 2: rid of one of the three in defence and I
- 9:12Speaker 2: hadn't decided what to do.
- 9:14Speaker 1: So, yeah. What did you do?
- 9:16Speaker 4: Yeah, who did you sell?
- 9:19Speaker 1: I got rid of Konza. Because of.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I'm still not 100% sure. Just the injury thing. I
- 9:26Speaker 2: just thought, you know what, I don't think he'll play
- 9:28Speaker 2: this weekend. Even though I actually think that their fixture
- 9:30Speaker 2: this weekend doesn't guarantee a clean sheet, to be honest,
- 9:33Speaker 2: anywhere against Leeds. I think with... I think out of the... Like,
- 9:36Speaker 2: Calafiori's just playing so well at the moment. He's had
- 9:38Speaker 2: a good international break again. Rea, I think, soon could
- 9:41Speaker 2: be potentially the best up, the most reliable option in
- 9:44Speaker 2: that Arsenal defence. I didn't want to spend that big
- 9:46Speaker 2: on a goalkeeper, but then it does enable me to
- 9:48Speaker 2: downgrade my second choice one. And Konza is brilliant value.
- 9:51Speaker 2: And for the next few weeks, if he does play,
- 9:54Speaker 2: which as Jules said then, potentially he could miss this
- 9:55Speaker 2: weekend and then be back and play the next three
- 9:57Speaker 2: or four weeks, but then he becomes a problem further
- 9:59Speaker 2: down the line. So I just thought, I'll do what
- 10:01Speaker 2: feels like a mature thing here and set my team
- 10:03Speaker 2: up longer term on a wild card. And I'll sell Konza,
- 10:06Speaker 2: even though it felt horrible sending a 4.6 million defender.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I am, however, hoping that loads of other people sell him.
- 10:11Speaker 2: If you listen to this, sell him. So then his
- 10:13Speaker 2: price goes back down to 4.5. So if I want
- 10:16Speaker 2: to bring him back and we get good injury news,
- 10:17Speaker 2: I can bring him back. So yeah, that's what I've
- 10:20Speaker 2: done at the moment.
- 10:21Speaker 4: So the only thing I would say, Kels, the only
- 10:23Speaker 4: thing I would say... No, no, no, no, no. The
- 10:24Speaker 4: only thing I would say on Calafiori, because I own Calafiori.
- 10:27Speaker 4: And he did really well, obviously, with Italy during the
- 10:30Speaker 4: international break, while Hincapié, by the way, didn't travel with Ecuador,
- 10:34Speaker 4: stayed and is fit and ready to go. With no
- 10:37Speaker 4: Solis now on the left-hand side for Arsenal because of
- 10:40Speaker 4: the injury, Arteta would have to choose who plays there then,
- 10:43Speaker 4: whether that's Madueke, you know, Max Darman's. Eze, and I
- 10:48Speaker 4: think it could be Eze. And if it's Eze, I'm
- 10:50Speaker 4: not sure. I think if Eze starts on the left-hand
- 10:52Speaker 4: side for Arsenal and would naturally drift inside quite a lot,
- 10:56Speaker 4: then I think Hinkapier is probably the best suited left-back
- 11:01Speaker 4: for a combo with Eze on the left-hand side, more
- 11:04Speaker 4: than Calafiori, who, when Solis is there, Solis is basically
- 11:07Speaker 4: hugging the touchline and Calafiori comes inside a lot and
- 11:11Speaker 4: has that freedom that we mentioned so many times that
- 11:13Speaker 4: is great for us because he's everywhere and does everything
- 11:15Speaker 4: and He's a wonderful player. Incapierre is a different style
- 11:18Speaker 4: of left-back that probably is better suited to play with
- 11:22Speaker 4: Eze if they play together. So even me as a
- 11:24Speaker 4: Calafiori owner, I'm a bit worried. I'm like, after playing
- 11:27Speaker 4: in the international break when Incapierre was not involved at
- 11:30Speaker 4: all and had some time of holidays and normal training,
- 11:33Speaker 4: I fear a little bit that Incapierre and Eze start
- 11:35Speaker 4: on the left-hand side and Calafiori is on the bench.
- 11:38Speaker 2: So you're telling me there's a world where Konza could
- 11:40Speaker 2: be injured, Calafiori could not start.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Or Konza starts, but you don't have him anymore, and
- 11:45Speaker 4: Calafiori doesn't.
- 11:48Speaker 1: This is why I decided I wanted to have Raya.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Yeah, with Raya, at least you're sure.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of what I decided in the end.
- 11:55Speaker 4: But Calafiori might well start again, but I think that's
- 11:58Speaker 4: the idea.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the insight you provide, Jules. Every time I
- 12:02Speaker 2: make a decision on this podcast, I'm quite pleased with it.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Jules comes in with.
- 12:05Speaker 1: A great idea, Kel, but.
- 12:07Speaker 2: No, I think I'm still happy enough with that, because.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Am I?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 12:14Speaker 1: Who knows? That's what I've done for now.
- 12:16Speaker 2: If in the end we get good news over Konza,
- 12:19Speaker 2: then there is a real potential that like, yes, I
- 12:22Speaker 2: sold him.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I don't think I lose any money on him.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Or do I? No, I do.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Oh, there's no point me doing maths on this pod
- 12:29Speaker 2: as we know it will take the rest of the episode.
- 12:32Speaker 2: But I bought him at 4.5 and I sold him
- 12:34Speaker 2: at 4.5, I think.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 2: If I have to lose 0.1 on him, fine. But
- 12:40Speaker 2: I made that decision when I did. At least I
- 12:42Speaker 2: got the 0.1 price rise on Saka, which was important
- 12:45Speaker 2: to me.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Because I decided I wanted him.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Anyway, is there any other injury things or anything else
- 12:50Speaker 2: that you want to mention before we move on and
- 12:52Speaker 2: discuss a little bit more in depth as to how
- 12:54Speaker 2: those transfers have affected the rest of my wildcard?
- 12:57Speaker 1: I think Harlan's an interesting one. Asked to be subbed.
- 12:59Speaker 1: We're not too worried about him, are we? Are we?
- 13:02Speaker 4: No.
- 13:03Speaker 3: No.
- 13:03Speaker 4: No, no, we shouldn't be. Okay.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Alex Scott maybe is interesting. Oh, Alex Scott.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yeah, Scott is the bad one. Yeah, Scott is the
- 13:10Speaker 4: bad one.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Scott was bad as well because I was actually kind
- 13:12Speaker 2: of coming around to having him in my wildcard because
- 13:13Speaker 2: I thought he looked quite fun.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not great for Bournemouth, is it? And not great.
- 13:18Speaker 2: He was brilliant for England as well when he did play. Okay,
- 13:22Speaker 2: I'll just talk you through my wildcard now then. I
- 13:25Speaker 2: find this, I'm quite looking forward to the deadline passing
- 13:28Speaker 2: because I've always been talking about my wildcard for a
- 13:29Speaker 2: long time, guys. I don't really like this pod being
- 13:32Speaker 2: too much about my team because, you know, I'm never
- 13:35Speaker 2: that set. I have made a few changes this week.
- 13:39Speaker 2: As I said, I've kept Rea in goal. I've still
- 13:41Speaker 2: got Salakis as my backup, just because I haven't needed
- 13:44Speaker 2: the money elsewhere. Because as you said, Sam, last week,
- 13:47Speaker 2: we're kind of having to get comfortable with having money
- 13:50Speaker 2: in the bank. I will downgrade him, I think, because
- 13:53Speaker 2: I'm probably just not going to play him enough and
- 13:54Speaker 2: I can get an even cheaper keeper.
- 13:55Speaker 1: But have you got a bench boost? Yes.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So I can keep... If I need to get rid
- 14:00Speaker 2: of him, then I will. But at the moment, I
- 14:01Speaker 2: don't need to. And I'd already caught a price rise.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Are you considering playing your bench boost Back to back
- 14:07Speaker 4: after your wildcard. So again, week seven is your bench boost.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It's now become a more, a better option.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It's now become a better option because then I can
- 14:16Speaker 2: shed the bench after and get some more money.
- 14:18Speaker 1: But at the moment, it doesn't feel like I need
- 14:20Speaker 1: a great deal of money, really. Well, I'll talk you through.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It depends what I do.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I've got a couple of scenarios still of what I
- 14:24Speaker 2: can do. So I've got Rea, Calafiori, as I said.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I've still got Lewis Hall. I thought he was good
- 14:29Speaker 2: again for England the other night. I need to do
- 14:31Speaker 2: a little bit more in-depth look into Newcastle's data because
- 14:35Speaker 2: I'm not totally sure And as it stands, I've sold
- 14:38Speaker 2: Harvey Barnes, but he's one of my maybes to come
- 14:40Speaker 2: back in. And I won't have the Newcastle double up.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I'll just have one of them. So it kind of depends.
- 14:45Speaker 2: So yeah, Calafiore Hall. Samuel, I've got to leave Davis
- 14:48Speaker 2: because I needed a cheap defender in there. I just
- 14:51Speaker 2: thought after our conversation last week, there's a lot of value.
- 14:53Speaker 3: If you break him, I'll be very sad.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Oh, I will. That's what I do.
- 14:58Speaker 4: At home against Fulham, I would even play him probably
- 15:00Speaker 4: this weekend.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he's in my starting, at the moment, they're my
- 15:01Speaker 2: three starting defenders. And my ones on the bench are
- 15:04Speaker 2: De Kooiper, still got him.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And Silva from Bournemouth. I like the Silva pick. So
- 15:10Speaker 1: do I.
- 15:10Speaker 2: And he feels a little bit more expensive at five million,
- 15:12Speaker 2: but I didn't, I had Tarkovsky in there for the
- 15:15Speaker 2: price rise and I was like, I'm not keeping him.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So I can kind of like downgrade, so to speak,
- 15:18Speaker 2: Silva and it doesn't really feel like a downgrade.
- 15:20Speaker 3: It's going to get you four every week at least
- 15:22Speaker 3: with the DEFCON stuff.
- 15:24Speaker 1: The defence is almost there, I'd say.
- 15:26Speaker 2: There's a bit of a conversation to be had around
- 15:28Speaker 2: Lewis Hall. And yeah, I'm still not totally set on
- 15:31Speaker 2: not having Konza and especially given what Jules said, but
- 15:33Speaker 2: I'm nearly there with that defence. Then midfield, Gross, Rodgers,
- 15:38Speaker 2: they're still there. Sharder is still there, but won't be.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I've decided that everything we said about him, I don't
- 15:43Speaker 2: know if it's sustainable. I feel like maybe I've missed
- 15:45Speaker 2: a boat there a little bit. I like the idea
- 15:48Speaker 2: of having him, but the midfield spots are so precious.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I don't, so yeah, he's a maybe. He's either going
- 15:54Speaker 2: to go back to being Harvey Barnes or he's going
- 15:56Speaker 2: to become Morgan Gibbs White. Then I've got Bakayo Saka,
- 16:01Speaker 2: as I said, and I have gone for Josh King.
- 16:04Speaker 2: because at one point I had a Fulham forward in
- 16:07Speaker 2: and I thought actually no why would Josh King is
- 16:09Speaker 2: just a better pick and at 5.5 million again his
- 16:12Speaker 2: price was going to go up so I thought I
- 16:14Speaker 2: don't have all week to make this decision so I
- 16:16Speaker 2: just brought him in and I really like the look
- 16:18Speaker 2: of the team with him in there and I look
- 16:19Speaker 2: at the Fulham's fixtures the next three at Ipswich away
- 16:22Speaker 2: Hull at home Coventry away I'm really happy with that
- 16:24Speaker 2: so he will stay the only decision then to make
- 16:26Speaker 2: in my midfield is what who Sharda becomes then up
- 16:29Speaker 2: front I've still I haven't changed these at the But
- 16:35Speaker 2: I think Barry will go back to being Calvert-Lewin, actually,
- 16:39Speaker 2: because I can afford that. And I think that's what
- 16:42Speaker 2: I want to do. Like I said, I did have
- 16:43Speaker 2: the Fulham double up, but it felt a bit much.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And the forwards are still causing me a headache because,
- 16:48Speaker 2: of course, is Pedro fit?
- 16:51Speaker 1: Who knows? But he's still in there at the moment.
- 16:53Speaker 1: That's where I'm at. Go on, Jules, tell me all
- 16:55Speaker 1: the things I've done wrong. No, no, go on, let
- 16:57Speaker 1: Jules go first.
- 17:00Speaker 4: No, I like it a lot. I like a lot
- 17:02Speaker 4: of your picks. I'm interested in the Calvert-Lewin slash Barry
- 17:06Speaker 4: slash maybe somebody else.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Who's the somebody else that I've really struggled with? I'm
- 17:10Speaker 1: not inspired by that.
- 17:11Speaker 4: A lot of people have sold Calvert-Lewin for Costulas, for example,
- 17:14Speaker 4: at Brighton, who is in great form. He was in
- 17:18Speaker 4: great form before the international break. I think Costulas is
- 17:22Speaker 4: 10 points twice in his last two Premier League games.
- 17:26Speaker 4: He's got two goals, three assists so far in five
- 17:28Speaker 4: Premier League matches. He's starting and even with Ruter coming
- 17:32Speaker 4: back or even when Mitoma is fully fit and comes back,
- 17:35Speaker 4: you still expect him to start ahead of Ruter, Evan
- 17:39Speaker 4: Ferguson and whoever else you want up front, you know,
- 17:43Speaker 4: Promise David and whoever, all the number nines they have.
- 17:47Speaker 4: And I think he's got that confidence. I think he's
- 17:49Speaker 4: a really confident guy in the first place, full of energy.
- 17:52Speaker 4: The only thing I would say about Brighton, again, we
- 17:54Speaker 4: said that before, is they will have Europe, obviously, on
- 17:58Speaker 4: Thursday night, starting.
- 18:00Speaker 1: This week coming up.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I don't really want the treble up.
- 18:01Speaker 1: That's my problem.
- 18:02Speaker 4: I don't really want to play with them. And as well,
- 18:04Speaker 4: they are very popular players. But if you don't play
- 18:07Speaker 4: the Kuiper, if the Kuiper is on your bench and
- 18:09Speaker 4: you've got Gross and Costulas in your team, I think
- 18:12Speaker 4: that could be fine as well. It's just finding that
- 18:14Speaker 4: third forward spot.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not inspired by it, as I said.
- 18:18Speaker 2: It's kind of, One of those that will come down
- 18:20Speaker 2: to who I kind of fancy on the cusp of
- 18:24Speaker 2: the deadline, I think.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Sam?
- 18:27Speaker 3: I think it very much depends on what you're doing
- 18:29Speaker 3: with your bench boost. Because if you're going to play
- 18:33Speaker 3: it in seven, then having Costa Dulas makes actually quite
- 18:37Speaker 3: a lot of sense. It's a good fixture at home
- 18:40Speaker 3: to Crystal Palace. It feels like that's a good opportunity.
- 18:43Speaker 3: But then having Leif Davis, if you're bench boosting in seven,
- 18:46Speaker 3: doesn't really make a lot of sense because he's got
- 18:48Speaker 3: Manchester City.
- 18:49Speaker 1: In that week.
- 18:50Speaker 3: So I think it's, it's a weird one, isn't it?
- 18:53Speaker 3: With the wild card this week, because you almost have
- 18:54Speaker 3: to decide what you're doing with your other chip as
- 18:58Speaker 3: part of the wild card, unless you, unless your decision
- 19:00Speaker 3: is I'm not going to bench boost for six, seven, eight,
- 19:03Speaker 3: nine weeks, like after the next international break, and I'm
- 19:06Speaker 3: going to hold it much further down the line. And
- 19:07Speaker 3: if that's the case, you can do whatever you like
- 19:09Speaker 3: with your wild card. But if you think that it
- 19:11Speaker 3: might be that you want to, to bench boost in seven,
- 19:15Speaker 3: then I absolutely wouldn't be opposed to Tribbling up on
- 19:19Speaker 3: Brighton for that week against Crystal Palace, because then after that,
- 19:22Speaker 3: as you said, you don't have to play them every week.
- 19:24Speaker 3: You can move them to the bench and rotate around
- 19:27Speaker 3: how you play them. Because the reality is that for
- 19:30Speaker 3: Josh King, who's your fifth midfielder, for the next three weeks,
- 19:33Speaker 3: you're going to want to start him, which means that
- 19:35Speaker 3: you're not going to start your third forward for the
- 19:38Speaker 3: next three weeks.
- 19:39Speaker 2: I think that's maybe, I look at my midfield and
- 19:41Speaker 2: I want to start that every week, which is maybe
- 19:42Speaker 2: why I'm not as bothered by that third forward spot,
- 19:45Speaker 2: if you know what I mean.
- 19:46Speaker 3: But then is there any point in having Dominic Calvert-Lewin
- 19:48Speaker 3: price points if you're not going to play?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Him for three weeks but.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Then I haven't I'm not stretched for cash anywhere else
- 19:54Speaker 2: at the moment like my bank is is okay and
- 19:58Speaker 2: that because at one point this week I was like
- 19:59Speaker 2: maybe I'll go from Rodgers to Palmer but I don't
- 20:01Speaker 2: want to I'm really happy I'm fine with Rodgers at
- 20:03Speaker 2: the moment I just particularly with the doubts over Palmer
- 20:07Speaker 2: I'm With my history with Palmer, that could go very wrong.
- 20:09Speaker 2: But yeah, you raise a valid point. And then I've
- 20:12Speaker 2: got Barry at the moment. And I just realised that
- 20:15Speaker 2: Calvert-Lewin's 0.4 more than Barry. And I was just like,
- 20:18Speaker 2: I feel like that for me is a reasonable... Well,
- 20:21Speaker 2: I'll watch.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Barry outscore him now. But just for me, it just
- 20:23Speaker 1: felt like it's worth it.
- 20:24Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Could be wrong.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Because I think Gibbs White's another interesting one. Because I
- 20:28Speaker 3: quite like him as a pick. But then in seven,
- 20:31Speaker 3: he's got Arsenal. And in ten, he's got City. So
- 20:34Speaker 3: there's a couple of weeks there where.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Fixtures aren't great and even Brentford actually it's you know
- 20:40Speaker 3: still still a nice fixture on the ticket but Brentford
- 20:43Speaker 3: have started the season really well so I actually don't
- 20:45Speaker 3: particularly love the run of fixtures that Nottingham Forest have
- 20:49Speaker 3: coming out of the break he's great for Crystal Palace
- 20:52Speaker 3: this week I think for game week six he makes
- 20:55Speaker 3: a lot of sense but beyond six I think there
- 20:58Speaker 3: are better options in midfield so And then again, it
- 21:02Speaker 3: throws a bench boost in seven out because you can't
- 21:05Speaker 3: really bench boost Gibbs White against that Arsenal defence if you've.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Got two of them.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 21:11Speaker 4: He's only returned twice in five games, by the way.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I think, you know, he finished very strongly last season.
- 21:16Speaker 4: He's a great player. I think playing with England and
- 21:19Speaker 4: being part of the international break probably boost was a
- 21:22Speaker 4: massive boost for him. And all of that. But he
- 21:25Speaker 4: hasn't actually done that great. And like Sam said, the fixtures,
- 21:28Speaker 4: you know, City, Arsenal and Brentford away in the next five. Okay,
- 21:32Speaker 4: you've got the Palace and I think it's... It's Ipswich. Yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 4: So those games, sure. And, you know, you might even
- 21:39Speaker 4: fancy captaining him this game week against Palace, for example.
- 21:44Speaker 4: But then, yeah, I'm really interested in him because I
- 21:46Speaker 4: think he's tempting. But there's a few, like, mini red flags,
- 21:50Speaker 4: but they're still red.
- 21:52Speaker 2: That's why I've kind of kept Sharder in there because
- 21:54Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't really know where I.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Want to spend this.
- 21:56Speaker 4: What about Tavernier? Yeah, Tavernier?
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's another option, I suppose, as well. I
- 22:00Speaker 2: kind of, I think I'd set my heart a bit
- 22:01Speaker 2: on Alex Scott. And then when that happened, I was like, oh, that's,
- 22:05Speaker 2: but no, Tavernier's probably actually a better option than Alex
- 22:08Speaker 2: Scott if both are fit anyway, to be honest.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I don't know why. He's probably the English thing again.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I don't know why. I just, yeah. So Sharder will
- 22:15Speaker 1: become someone else. That's my only midfield.
- 22:18Speaker 4: You don't want to give him a chance, for sure, Sharder.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I mean, the fixture this weekend's all right. But it
- 22:24Speaker 2: just feels like it's a bit of a waste of
- 22:26Speaker 2: an opportunity now.
- 22:28Speaker 1: That's just the way I've started to look at it.
- 22:30Speaker 2: When I was like, I got quite excited by some
- 22:32Speaker 2: of the other options in terms of fixtures and potential
- 22:36Speaker 2: upside and trying to get ahead of the curve because
- 22:37Speaker 2: I need to because I've had not a great start.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Harvey Barnes against Coventry. Yeah. Do you like him a lot?
- 22:45Speaker 1: I only got rid of him out of my team.
- 22:46Speaker 1: When did I get rid of him out of my team?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Like the last couple of days. And I was like, bye,
- 22:51Speaker 1: but we're probably going to say hi again. So it wasn't,
- 22:54Speaker 1: it wasn't too emotional. So yeah, that's, that's where I'm
- 22:57Speaker 1: at with it. There's probably, in terms of locks, majority
- 23:01Speaker 1: is probably three or four.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I think probably Lewis Hall is one, Sharder is another
- 23:06Speaker 2: in the third forward. I'm potentially the second goalkeeper, my
- 23:09Speaker 2: backup goalkeeper. So I can just see that if I keep.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You know the thing with Barnes. Go on.
- 23:14Speaker 4: The thing with Barnes is they, okay, bar the Leeds game,
- 23:18Speaker 4: they had a shocker away and just didn't respond at
- 23:20Speaker 4: all or anything. But apart from that, they've scored at
- 23:23Speaker 4: least two goals in every Premier League game. They are
- 23:26Speaker 4: a very attacking team. And for Barnes, even Wissam, whoever
- 23:30Speaker 4: plays on their right wing, on their right-hand side, it
- 23:32Speaker 4: won't be Alanga because he's injured, but whoever is there instead,
- 23:37Speaker 4: I think there's points there. He would be a bit crazy.
- 23:39Speaker 4: And for Lewis Hall, in terms of not conceding a goal,
- 23:42Speaker 4: it's a bit different, but he might get attacking returns.
- 23:45Speaker 4: So I think if you fancy a Newcastle player player
- 23:49Speaker 4: that can bring you points attacking wise like Barnes like
- 23:53Speaker 4: Hall like Wissar you know those kind of guys Fernandez
- 23:56Speaker 4: Pardo at some point I think might become a good
- 23:58Speaker 4: shout too once he just get a bit more game
- 24:01Speaker 4: time and everything like that even Murphy I think they're
- 24:06Speaker 4: good shout because again I think they will they will
- 24:09Speaker 4: score goals Coventry Villa Palace the next three games that's
- 24:12Speaker 4: easily games where Newcastle will score might not win but
- 24:16Speaker 4: will score and will you will go for it that's
- 24:19Speaker 4: what they do.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Okay well we'll move on then um i probably will
- 24:23Speaker 2: post my wild card once the deadline's passed if i'm
- 24:26Speaker 2: happy with it but i probably won't be happy with
- 24:28Speaker 2: it so you will be happy with it come on
- 24:31Speaker 2: i'm nearly you've had three weeks you must be happy
- 24:34Speaker 2: with it that's almost worse you almost have too long
- 24:36Speaker 2: to kind of deliberate over it i'm looking forward to
- 24:39Speaker 2: not having to obsess quite as much over price changes
- 24:42Speaker 2: because And sometimes you just have to let, when you're
- 24:45Speaker 2: not on a wildcard, you just have to let a
- 24:47Speaker 2: price change go because maybe the player's got to play in,
- 24:49Speaker 2: I don't know, he's playing in Europe that week and
- 24:52Speaker 2: you don't want to make a decision that early. Whereas
- 24:54Speaker 2: at the moment, if you miss a price rise or
- 24:57Speaker 2: a price fall when you're on a wildcard, I don't
- 24:59Speaker 2: want to say you're an idiot, but it's a bit
- 25:01Speaker 2: of a foolish move, isn't it?
- 25:02Speaker 4: No, you are.
- 25:03Speaker 1: It's been quite stressful, yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 2: There's been nothing worse a couple of times this week
- 25:07Speaker 2: where I've like woken up like half past midnight and
- 25:09Speaker 2: been like, this makes me sound like a loser. I've
- 25:11Speaker 2: missed the price rise thing. And then I look and
- 25:14Speaker 2: no one's gone up and it's like, okay, go back
- 25:15Speaker 2: to sleep.
- 25:16Speaker 1: The small world can't do to you guys.
- 25:18Speaker 2: They absolutely make you lose your mind. So yeah, probably
- 25:20Speaker 2: looking forward to getting a bit of sanity back this weekend.
- 25:23Speaker 2: In terms of what you guys at home have been doing,
- 25:25Speaker 2: it's always a bit crazy over international breaks. But it's
- 25:29Speaker 2: been a bit of a weird one because because it's
- 25:32Speaker 2: been such a long break, I think, that it's been
- 25:33Speaker 2: a bit slower and now it does ramp up coming
- 25:35Speaker 2: into this second week. And we've got the information we
- 25:39Speaker 2: need and it'll go even crazier, I'm sure, once we've
- 25:41Speaker 2: heard from the Premier League managers towards the end of
- 25:43Speaker 2: this week.
- 25:44Speaker 1: As it stands, over the.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Last 24 hours or so, it's kind of a similar
- 25:48Speaker 2: trend in terms of gross is still up there with
- 25:51Speaker 2: having loads of transfers in. Saka's also getting a lot
- 25:53Speaker 2: more interest as well because he was so impressive for England,
- 25:56Speaker 2: particularly in that game away in Croatia. And then he
- 25:59Speaker 2: didn't start in midweek, which I also thought was really
- 26:01Speaker 2: good news. for someone that's bringing in a Saka and
- 26:04Speaker 2: he had that little bit of rest because we know
- 26:05Speaker 2: he does just seem to want to play every single
- 26:08Speaker 2: game for Arsenal. In terms of where we're going, we've
- 26:11Speaker 2: already touched upon it with Arsenal. What are we leaning towards, Sam?
- 26:14Speaker 2: Because it sounds like you're leaning towards going with an
- 26:17Speaker 2: attacker plus two defenders.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Yeah, so at the minute I've got my treble up
- 26:22Speaker 3: of Arsenal still in my team because I've got Calafuri
- 26:24Speaker 3: and Konza and then I've also still got Solis.
- 26:27Speaker 1: So I need to... deal with him.
- 26:30Speaker 3: But it's a bit of a frustrating one for me
- 26:32Speaker 3: because I quite like the Bruno Fernandes, because he's going
- 26:36Speaker 3: to be a bit of a differential with how many
- 26:38Speaker 3: people have sold him recently for this game against Spurs,
- 26:41Speaker 3: especially as Spurs have got some injuries in defence that
- 26:44Speaker 3: we need to see if Deserby gives us any indication
- 26:46Speaker 3: about how fit and available they are. So I quite
- 26:50Speaker 3: fancy holding Bruno for just one more week, but then
- 26:53Speaker 3: that rules out Saka because I need the money out
- 26:55Speaker 3: of Bruno in order to make Saka a viable option
- 26:58Speaker 3: to invest in. I could just go from Solis to Odegaard,
- 27:04Speaker 3: but then I'm not sure that I want to do
- 27:06Speaker 3: that because I do think that Saka is the best
- 27:08Speaker 3: pick long term. So I'm probably just going to go
- 27:11Speaker 3: down to just the two Arsenal defenders for this week
- 27:14Speaker 3: and then next week bring in an Arsenal attacker, namely Saka,
- 27:19Speaker 3: unless I decide I want to sell Bruno this week,
- 27:21Speaker 3: but I don't think I do.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Jules, where are you leaning with your Arsenal three?
- 27:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I still have, I will keep Kansa, I think,
- 27:28Speaker 4: because he'd be fine for this weekend, I think. Calafiore,
- 27:33Speaker 4: I mentioned, I'm a little bit fearful of Henkapje and
- 27:38Speaker 4: whoever plays on that left wing for them, attacking-wise. And
- 27:41Speaker 4: then Odegaard, who was, I thought, excellent with Norway in
- 27:46Speaker 4: the international break, in the games that he played and
- 27:49Speaker 4: what he did with the board, just continuing on the
- 27:51Speaker 4: form that we saw with Arsenal so far this season. So,
- 27:54Speaker 4: Arsenal have obviously a Champions League game coming up in midweek.
- 27:57Speaker 4: We're on back-to-back Champions League weeks, by the way. So
- 28:00Speaker 4: for all those guys, they're playing this weekend and Tuesday, Wednesday,
- 28:03Speaker 4: next weekend and Tuesday, Wednesday again the following week. So
- 28:06Speaker 4: all United players, Liverpool players, City, Arsenal, all of that.
- 28:10Speaker 4: So it's something to keep in mind because we might
- 28:11Speaker 4: see a bit of rotation, especially for the ones who
- 28:14Speaker 4: played four or three or four of their national team
- 28:18Speaker 4: international games in this break. So that will start to
- 28:21Speaker 4: be a lot. But I think I quite like the
- 28:25Speaker 4: treble up of Konza, Odegaard and Calafiori, to be fair.
- 28:30Speaker 4: But if you had Raya, Calafiori and one of the
- 28:33Speaker 4: midfielders too, like a Saka or again Odegaard or somebody
- 28:37Speaker 4: like that, I think it's fine. And if you really
- 28:39Speaker 4: want to play the differential card here, go for Mikel
- 28:42Speaker 4: Marino because I'm pretty sure he will start as the
- 28:46Speaker 4: number nine for Arsenal against Leeds. And to be fair...
- 28:51Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised if Havertz was not back for
- 28:53Speaker 4: the Forest away game the following Sunday. And after that,
- 28:57Speaker 4: it's Everton at home. And again, Havertz might be back
- 28:59Speaker 4: for that, or there might be a bit of a
- 29:01Speaker 4: Gokere somewhere. But I think Marino will start against Leeds
- 29:04Speaker 4: on Saturday.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting, actually, Nick, because a lot of managers
- 29:07Speaker 2: listening to this will be on like a blank slate
- 29:09Speaker 2: like me with Arsenal. So for you guys, you're kind
- 29:12Speaker 2: of locked in a little bit more in terms of
- 29:13Speaker 2: having to use transfers. But if you did have a
- 29:16Speaker 2: clean slate, Sam, who would your three be? Or maybe
- 29:20Speaker 2: you'd go two, but it feels like you'd probably go three.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I think I probably still would go three.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Saka, definitely. I think actually in a complete reversal of
- 29:27Speaker 3: where I was this time last week, because of the
- 29:30Speaker 3: news coming out of the Arsenal defence, I think I
- 29:32Speaker 3: probably would go for Rea in goal. I just think that,
- 29:35Speaker 3: like you said before, Kelsey just feels like the obvious
- 29:37Speaker 3: pick now because he feels safe at a time when
- 29:40Speaker 3: other players have either got injury doubts or you've got
- 29:42Speaker 3: other players that might rotate with them and you've got
- 29:44Speaker 3: the Champions League kicking back in proper. I think I
- 29:48Speaker 3: would still pick Califuri. I just think the attacking upside
- 29:51Speaker 3: is something that I wouldn't want to go without, particularly
- 29:54Speaker 3: given ownership as well. That feels important. So they would
- 29:57Speaker 3: probably be the three that I would have.
- 29:59Speaker 4: Jules? Yeah, if you can afford, Saka, obviously, go for it.
- 30:06Speaker 4: I think he should with England, even if there was, again,
- 30:09Speaker 4: a bit of a debate and some people not being
- 30:11Speaker 4: too convinced. I think they are now.
- 30:15Speaker 2: I think it became very obvious in this international break
- 30:18Speaker 2: that England's, and I think it became more obvious when
- 30:20Speaker 2: he wasn't on the pitch and Anthony Gordon wasn't on
- 30:21Speaker 2: the pitch on Tuesday, the attacking, I mean, they scored seven.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I mean, say what you like about Croatia, they were
- 30:27Speaker 2: brilliant on Saturday night, and even you'll admit that. But
- 30:30Speaker 2: I think that front three, four, whatever you want to
- 30:33Speaker 2: call it, in terms of Kane, Saka, Gordon with Bellingham
- 30:36Speaker 2: in behind is now set.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Like the players that.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Came in on Tuesday did well, but I think just
- 30:42Speaker 2: Saka and Gordon take us to the next level.
- 30:45Speaker 1: So yeah, that actually enhanced me.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Saka, if you.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Can't afford him. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And really, Kez, you
- 30:51Speaker 4: should definitely have him in your team, I think.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yes, okay. It's just the defence, isn't it? But... I'm
- 30:58Speaker 1: happy with two of the three.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I think I'm going with the right three in terms
- 31:01Speaker 2: of the information that we have now, but I don't
- 31:04Speaker 2: feel as confident as I did 35 minutes ago when
- 31:06Speaker 2: we started this podcast, that's for sure. Pascal Gross, should
- 31:09Speaker 2: people be moving Heaven and Earth to bring him in?
- 31:11Speaker 2: Is he as good a pick as the transfer market suggests, Jules?
- 31:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so. It's 30% already. It's crazy. What
- 31:20Speaker 4: a crazy start this season for him.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Do either of you have him, do you? Jules does.
- 31:24Speaker 3: He keeps cutting him off his bench, which is really annoying.
- 31:26Speaker 4: No, no, no, no. This is all part of the strategy.
- 31:28Speaker 4: It's all part of the strategy. Absolutely. He's my guy,
- 31:31Speaker 4: Pascal Gross.
- 31:32Speaker 1: It's all part of the strategy to play the wrong
- 31:33Speaker 1: starting XI.
- 31:34Speaker 4: No, it's just like I knew Joe Pedro probably would
- 31:37Speaker 4: not play.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Remember, it's talent and planning and vision.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Exactly. You know, exactly. Pascal Gross, never in doubt, really.
- 31:44Speaker 4: I don't know at 35... almost my age. That is
- 31:49Speaker 4: my age.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Let's not pretend it's yours.
- 31:51Speaker 4: If he can sustain it or not at this kind
- 31:53Speaker 4: of level because I've said it before, I will say
- 31:55Speaker 4: it again, he's the best Premier League player right now
- 31:58Speaker 4: so far this season and he's been that good. But
- 32:02Speaker 4: Brighton have that momentum. It won't always be perfect like
- 32:04Speaker 4: it was against Arsenal, for sure. They might struggle a
- 32:07Speaker 4: bit more against smaller teams because that's what they do
- 32:09Speaker 4: every single season and that's why they finish eighth and
- 32:11Speaker 4: not first. But he's at the heart of everything and
- 32:15Speaker 4: he's just scored... 17 points and 14 points in his
- 32:18Speaker 4: last two Premier League matches. So incredible form. So yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 4: of course, go for him.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Do you know what?
- 32:23Speaker 2: I watched back some of our show on YouTube the
- 32:25Speaker 2: other week and I realised I've got to stop making
- 32:28Speaker 2: these ridiculous faces at Jules because we pretty.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Much always envision.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Everybody's noticed, don't worry.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm always making faces at him as if
- 32:35Speaker 2: to say, where has this guy come from?
- 32:37Speaker 1: And yeah, it's not a great look. Sam, agree on Gross?
- 32:40Speaker 4: Oh, Gross has been.
- 32:42Speaker 3: the biggest frustration for me because I love him. And
- 32:45Speaker 3: if you remember last season, he single-handedly tried to save
- 32:48Speaker 3: my season at the back end of last year and
- 32:50Speaker 3: going into the new season, I was like, right, I'll
- 32:52Speaker 3: definitely have gross. And then I got kind of, I
- 32:55Speaker 3: had my head turned by Sangari and his potential for
- 32:58Speaker 3: death con. Same as me. That feels nice. That feels fun.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Maybe I should go there instead. No, it's been a disaster,
- 33:06Speaker 3: an utter disaster. And to have Sangari come off the
- 33:08Speaker 3: bench for a zero pointer when gross was coming off
- 33:10Speaker 3: Jules's is, honestly was.
- 33:12Speaker 4: The most frustrating. No, it wasn't.
- 33:14Speaker 3: It was absolutely horrendous. So here's my, so my view
- 33:18Speaker 3: on gross is that I love him. I think he's great.
- 33:20Speaker 3: I do think he's been slightly fortunate. Some of the assists,
- 33:24Speaker 3: I know I'm going to sound like Jules now. Some
- 33:25Speaker 3: of the assists have been sideways pass for a wonderful goal. Um,
- 33:29Speaker 3: but that's fine. We know that happens in FPL is,
- 33:33Speaker 3: are we going to see that regularly over the course
- 33:34Speaker 3: of the season? Well, maybe not, but right now they're
- 33:36Speaker 3: in a, in a good moment and they're on, you know,
- 33:39Speaker 3: he's in a great moment as well. I don't really
- 33:42Speaker 3: want him though, because I look at the Taverniers and
- 33:45Speaker 3: I look at the Josh Kings and I think, oh,
- 33:48Speaker 3: there's so much potential for differentials in the next few weeks,
- 33:51Speaker 3: like really good returns from them. And maybe if I
- 33:54Speaker 3: just went there instead, it might give an opportunity to
- 33:57Speaker 3: just boost my team in other ways. But he hurts
- 34:02Speaker 3: so much now because every time he does something, it
- 34:05Speaker 3: kind of ruins your game week because it's like, okay, well,
- 34:07Speaker 3: I don't have him. And as you said, a good,
- 34:11Speaker 3: third of the game do now. So now I'm like,
- 34:14Speaker 3: I need to probably think about how I get him in.
- 34:17Speaker 4: So is he coming in your team or not? That's
- 34:18Speaker 4: what we want to know because you're saying, yes, I
- 34:20Speaker 4: love him, but no, I don't want him, but I
- 34:22Speaker 4: love him, but I don't want him.
- 34:23Speaker 3: I'd rather have Tavernier and Josh King, but I probably
- 34:25Speaker 3: will end up being really boring and get gross instead.
- 34:29Speaker 4: To back up what Sam just said on assist, so
- 34:31Speaker 4: he's got four assists gross in the Premier League so
- 34:33Speaker 4: far in five games. He's expected assists, so the kind
- 34:37Speaker 4: of assists that you, you know, as it says, He's 0.86.
- 34:43Speaker 4: He got four for nothing, really. So again, that might
- 34:47Speaker 4: not be sustainable. A bit like what we said for
- 34:49Speaker 4: Shadrack and his goal-scoring record so far.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Same with Guardiola, right?
- 34:53Speaker 4: Yeah, or Guardiola too, to be fair. I mean, Costulas
- 34:56Speaker 4: is even worse because he's got three assists and his
- 34:58Speaker 4: expected assist is 0.06. I don't even know how you
- 35:01Speaker 4: can get three assists from 0.06 expected assist because you
- 35:05Speaker 4: clearly didn't expect them. But, you know, let's see.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Sharder, I think, is the same. We've kind of
- 35:11Speaker 1: already discussed him, haven't we?
- 35:12Speaker 2: Like, if you've got him, you hold him, but there
- 35:15Speaker 2: might be better options in terms of the underlying numbers, Jules.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Yeah, and again, like, the thing with those kind of
- 35:22Speaker 4: stats and the data is we think he might not
- 35:25Speaker 4: be sustainable and usually it's not, but he might well
- 35:30Speaker 4: be keeping the same level for the next two games,
- 35:33Speaker 4: for example. So if you have him or if you
- 35:34Speaker 4: want him and you bring him into your team, it
- 35:37Speaker 4: might be okay for the next two games, over the
- 35:39Speaker 4: whole season, I don't think he can continue like this
- 35:41Speaker 4: because then he will end up like a Hurricane or
- 35:43Speaker 4: an Mbappé or a Haaland and that's not him, let's
- 35:46Speaker 4: be honest. But maybe on a shorter term, go for it.
- 35:51Speaker 4: It's not even a gamble because he's been on good
- 35:53Speaker 4: form and you could keep that for one, two, three
- 35:56Speaker 4: more games maybe. And we said he played with Germany,
- 35:58Speaker 4: that would have boosted him, boosted his confidence too. So
- 36:02Speaker 4: it might still be a good option, I think, even
- 36:04Speaker 4: if I think we are right to say that he
- 36:07Speaker 4: got a little bit fortunate so far this season with
- 36:09Speaker 4: some of the goals that he scored.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Costulas, we've already mentioned him as well. He's been really popular,
- 36:15Speaker 2: as has Josh King and Harvey Barnes. But I think
- 36:18Speaker 2: we've spoken loads about those, haven't we?
- 36:20Speaker 1: And their upside. Differential of the week time.
- 36:22Speaker 2: We've spoken about differentials in the last few weeks, but
- 36:24Speaker 2: we haven't actually picked one. A reminder, the guys did
- 36:26Speaker 2: absolutely terribly in the one before the last time there
- 36:30Speaker 2: was any Premier League football. So in true honour of
- 36:33Speaker 2: the second chance league, I mean, we're not doing a
- 36:36Speaker 2: second chance league in this, but there's an opportunity to
- 36:39Speaker 2: really save your season, guys. Jules, you just about beat
- 36:42Speaker 2: Sam last week by getting two points.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Jules, who are you going with?
- 36:45Speaker 4: That's still a win. A win is a win. A
- 36:47Speaker 4: win is a win.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Who'd have thought that the Forest players would get two
- 36:52Speaker 3: and one point against Coventry?
- 36:54Speaker 4: I know.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Go on, who are you going with, Jules?
- 36:56Speaker 4: So I'll go first. Okay, we talked a lot about
- 36:58Speaker 4: him already, but he's Josh King at Fulham. because I
- 37:02Speaker 4: think he's looked great so far. Two goals in his
- 37:05Speaker 4: five games, five starts for them in a team that, OK,
- 37:09Speaker 4: maybe he's not reaching the heights that they would want
- 37:13Speaker 4: right now, but it's a team that plays nice football.
- 37:16Speaker 4: And I think within that, he's very instrumental. He averages
- 37:19Speaker 4: three shots per 90, which I think is a good number.
- 37:22Speaker 4: But what I think is the most interesting for us
- 37:25Speaker 4: is that he averages almost eight touches per in the
- 37:28Speaker 4: opposition box per 90 minutes. So he's there a lot.
- 37:30Speaker 4: He gets the ball a lot in the box. And
- 37:32Speaker 4: because of his style and the low centre of gravity
- 37:35Speaker 4: and how quick feet he has and how sharp he is,
- 37:38Speaker 4: I think he would be very dangerous every time he
- 37:40Speaker 4: touches the ball in the opposition box. So Josh King,
- 37:43Speaker 4: we said he's got three good fixtures against the three
- 37:47Speaker 4: promoted teams coming up. So yeah, I think that should
- 37:52Speaker 4: be a good one this week. Sam?
- 37:56Speaker 3: Well, after last week's issues with us both going for
- 37:58Speaker 3: Forest players, let's continue the theme with us both going
- 38:02Speaker 3: for Fulham players. So I've picked Gonzalo Garcia. He's 3.9% owned,
- 38:07Speaker 3: so slightly more than Josh King is. I like him
- 38:12Speaker 3: so far. Just the one league goal, but only two
- 38:15Speaker 3: forwards in the game, Harlan and Barry, have had more
- 38:17Speaker 3: shots in the opening five weeks than he has. Four
- 38:21Speaker 3: of his 15 attempts on goal have been classified as
- 38:22Speaker 3: big chances. So getting in the right place is doing
- 38:25Speaker 3: the right things. And he's also joint third for penalty
- 38:29Speaker 3: box touches amongst the forwards in the game. So like
- 38:32Speaker 3: Jules was just saying about Josh King, he's in the
- 38:34Speaker 3: right places for goals to come. And over the next
- 38:37Speaker 3: few weeks, I think their fixtures look really good. So
- 38:40Speaker 3: a good opportunity for Fulham to kind of kickstart their
- 38:44Speaker 3: season and a good chance for Gonzalo Garcia to get
- 38:48Speaker 3: on the score sheet a bit more regularly.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Josh King is 3.1% owned, by the way. I forgot
- 38:52Speaker 4: to say that. So really, really low ownership.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Yeah, just a little bit more than, or less than Garcia.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Captaincy then.
- 38:58Speaker 2: I feel like this is a really tricky week. Sam,
- 39:01Speaker 2: your reaction says it all, really.
- 39:04Speaker 3: I have no idea who's captain this week, Helz. I
- 39:06Speaker 3: honestly have. If I had Saka, I think I would give.
- 39:10Speaker 4: It to him.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Even against an impressive lead side? I think so. Early kickoff?
- 39:15Speaker 2: Oof.
- 39:16Speaker 3: That's the problem because I don't, I hate captain early kickoff,
- 39:21Speaker 3: but so it's Harlan away at Liverpool and I don't
- 39:23Speaker 3: love that. Liverpool have got, they've been really solid defensively
- 39:26Speaker 3: in the last few weeks. So I'm not loving that.
- 39:30Speaker 3: I quite weirdly like Bruno against Spurs in the evening
- 39:33Speaker 3: kickoff on Saturday yeah I quite like that quite like
- 39:39Speaker 3: that if I had a new castle player I'd be
- 39:42Speaker 3: really tempted with Sir Barnes I feel like it's a
- 39:46Speaker 3: differential captain this week for the first time ever. It
- 39:49Speaker 3: doesn't feel like Haaland is the standout.
- 39:51Speaker 2: If you had to set your armband now, who would
- 39:52Speaker 2: you go if you had to finalise your team?
- 39:56Speaker 3: Of my current team that I have, I probably would
- 39:59Speaker 3: leave it on him. Maybe I might move it to Bruno.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Jules?
- 40:04Speaker 4: It's on Haaland now, but it's because he was there
- 40:07Speaker 4: before the international break and I haven't touched it. And again,
- 40:10Speaker 4: it's a big game for City away after everything that happened, obviously, too,
- 40:14Speaker 4: during the international break. So I'm not really sure. I
- 40:17Speaker 4: like Josh King. against him switch away as a captain.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Are you captain Josh King? Exactly. I'm not too sure.
- 40:23Speaker 4: And it will feel a little bit wrong. I've got
- 40:25Speaker 4: nothing against Josh King.
- 40:26Speaker 1: He's a differential. You've got to back him.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Yeah, true. That's why I brought him into the team.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Brought him in and captain him. No, he's in my
- 40:32Speaker 4: team for sure. That's fully backing him. I know. That's
- 40:35Speaker 4: another level. Bruno, as we said, against a really poor team,
- 40:39Speaker 4: I think is tempting. Savage. I know, I'm kidding you.
- 40:43Speaker 4: It was only for you that I said that one.
- 40:45Speaker 4: But I think this is going to be an open game, United-Spurs, obviously.
- 40:49Speaker 4: So there might be something for Bruno there. So I would, yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 4: I don't know yet.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Okay, so we already know Jules' transfers.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Sam, what are yours?
- 41:01Speaker 4: Well, it's gross in and out and then in and
- 41:03Speaker 4: out and gross. I love him, but I don't want him.
- 41:06Speaker 4: I love him, but I don't want him.
- 41:08Speaker 1: It is the gross hokey-cokey.
- 41:10Speaker 3: So my preference is to do Sangari and Solis to
- 41:16Speaker 3: George King and Tavernier. That's the transfers that I would
- 41:19Speaker 3: really like to make. Whether fear gets me, and instead
- 41:22Speaker 3: of doing one of those two, I get Pascal Gross instead,
- 41:26Speaker 3: that there is a possibility that happens, to be honest,
- 41:29Speaker 3: because I just.
- 41:32Speaker 3: He's just going to hurt every week that I don't
- 41:34Speaker 3: have him. And so that's problematic. But I also want
- 41:37Speaker 3: to just make sure, because I have got some slight
- 41:38Speaker 3: defensive problems this week, because obviously Konza is flagged, as
- 41:42Speaker 3: is Van Hek. So I need to just make sure
- 41:46Speaker 3: that I don't have a bigger defensive headache. Because ideally,
- 41:51Speaker 3: I don't want to use all three of my transfers.
- 41:53Speaker 3: And I also ideally don't want to play Bobby Thomas
- 41:55Speaker 3: against Newcastle. So I might need to make a a
- 41:59Speaker 3: defensive change. So yeah, at the minute, my plan is
- 42:01Speaker 3: to do two, to do Solis and Sangari to Tavernier
- 42:06Speaker 3: and King and hold the third transfer. But gross might
- 42:10Speaker 3: turn my head.
- 42:11Speaker 1: You must have lost a little bit of money on
- 42:12Speaker 1: those with them falling.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Oh, girls, my team value is just, it's just a
- 42:16Speaker 3: disaster to be honest.
- 42:18Speaker 2: That's part of the reason I activated my wildcard as
- 42:20Speaker 2: well because it kills, it killed me last season, my
- 42:22Speaker 2: team value.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Like when I did wildcard.
- 42:25Speaker 3: Thankfully, I've got some other players who've gained some point
- 42:29Speaker 3: one here and there. But like, because I've got Bruno Fernandes,
- 42:32Speaker 3: who's taken a drop over the break. I've got Sabozlai,
- 42:34Speaker 3: who's also taken a drop over the break as well.
- 42:37Speaker 3: So there's just drops been everywhere. But I kind of
- 42:40Speaker 3: decided that. I'd rather the information with the amount of
- 42:43Speaker 3: flags I have, selling Bruno or Sabozlai, who will play
- 42:47Speaker 3: this week, seems absolutely mad on my part to take
- 42:51Speaker 3: out players that I know are going to start when
