Latest / The Robbie Harvey Show / Brittani Stapleton DEFENDS Husband After 20 Exploitation Counts – She Knew EVERYTHING
Transcript
- 0:01You better have the most perfect body.
- 0:02I mean, there better not be an ounce of fat.
- 0:05Brittany Stapleton has become a lightning rod on social media.
- 0:10Why? Because she's 100% adamant that
- 0:13her husband, who sits in prison, is innocent of his crimes.
- 0:18What crimes is that? Joshua Stapleton pleaded guilty
- 0:22to 20 counts of Child Exploitation.
- 0:24You know you should not take advice on about who to marry is
- 0:28Brittany Stapleton. But before going to prison,
- 0:30Brittany and Josh Stapleton enjoyed quite the successful
- 0:35online community. They have several 1000 followers
- 0:40and we're doing very well at growing their platforms.
- 0:45But all of a sudden, one day he was gone.
- 0:48He stopped showing up in their videos and Brittany was left all
- 0:53alone to defend her husband's crimes.
- 0:56Some odd sick reason. She proudly supports him on her
- 1:00social media accounts. She continues to support and
- 1:03defend her husband, who is turned on by children getting S
- 1:08aid. I went to Oh my God, it's still
- 1:10on fire. OK, I went in front of the grill
- 1:13and I caught my hair on fire. I don't know what I'm going to
- 1:16do. So in this week's episode, I
- 1:20asked Brittany to sit down with me and to talk about why she
- 1:24stands by his side despite the evidence, despite him sitting in
- 1:29prison right now. As you're listening to this
- 1:33Though, she can't go into details about the evidence she
- 1:36claims to have that will prove his innocence.
- 1:40She is willing to talk about their relationship, the alleged
- 1:44crimes, well, not alleged, but the crimes he's charged of and
- 1:48pled guilty to the hate that she endures for standing by his
- 1:53side. And what's next for her and her
- 1:59convicted husband? Let's start from the beginning,
- 2:02Brittany. How did you 2 meet and and how
- 2:05did you 2 become, you know, husband and wife?
- 2:08So we were both State Farm agents.
- 2:10So I was in Birmingham, AL area, Josh was in Cartersville, GA
- 2:14area. We met from being in the even
- 2:17though they're further apart, we're in the same territory,
- 2:20just really good friends. At first.
- 2:22I remember we both dated other people not unlike not crazy to
- 2:25be friends with other agents from your territory.
- 2:28We all chat, collab, a lot, things like that.
- 2:31Became just friends from that and then we both went through
- 2:33breakups around the same time. Became closer friends.
- 2:37We were talking, we started like talking off and on thinking
- 2:40about dating like probably six months after we both went
- 2:42through breakups. So like we started really
- 2:45hanging out around, I don't know, really hanging out around
- 2:48December of 2019. And then it slowly we were off
- 2:51and on. I mean, we lived hours apart, so
- 2:54we didn't really think anything would ever come of it.
- 2:56And then we hung out. We spent like 2020 New Year's
- 2:58together, like from 2019 to 2020.
- 3:00And then we went to Tampa together.
- 3:02We were like, we both love to travel and we both were dating
- 3:05people who didn't like to travel.
- 3:06So we're like, hey, we like to travel now that we're both
- 3:08single, let's travel. So we went on trips together.
- 3:10So I remember one night he, me, Josh, and his friends, like his
- 3:17friend and his girlfriend who had we spent New Year's with, we
- 3:19were all on FaceTime and Josh was like, why don't y'all all
- 3:22just drive down? Because we all live in the same
- 3:23area. So why don't y'all drive down to
- 3:25my place at the coast for the weekend?
- 3:27We're like, OK, we might do that.
- 3:29And then FaceTime ended. Next morning I am on a like I'm
- 3:33out on my boat and another State Farm agent sends me the article
- 3:37where Josh has been arrested. And I was like what?
- 3:41Like this guy has no idea. He's just sending it to me.
- 3:43He just knows I know Josh and I was like, this cannot be right.
- 3:46Like this cannot be it. And it at the time it said child
- 3:50PORN and I was like all I could think in my mind.
- 3:53I was like, this idiot has gotten caught talking to some
- 3:56girl on Instagram. Has to be some girl that's, you
- 3:59know, happens to be underage. That's what I was thinking in my
- 4:02mind. So he ends up having to spend I
- 4:04think 2 nights in jail. The reality is Josh was arrested
- 4:08for content involving minors. And keep in mind, this arrest
- 4:13happened before they even started dating.
- 4:16They were just friends, just talking.
- 4:19At that point I was like, there's no way he would ever
- 4:21harm anyone, whether it be a 16 year old, 18 year old, whatever.
- 4:24Definitely wouldn't harm anyone. Something's wrong, somebody's
- 4:27called on him, something's wrong.
- 4:28So I remember I'd reached out and he wasn't replying.
- 4:31Finally I messaged him. I was like, look, I have no
- 4:33judgement towards you. I don't want you to off
- 4:35yourself. I want to come make sure you're
- 4:36OK. Can I come to you?
- 4:38He was like, please do. I met him at the he got out of
- 4:40jail. He went to the coast to get
- 4:42away. I met him there.
- 4:44He told me everything. I mean, from start to finish,
- 4:47he's like, this is what I've been arrested for.
- 4:49This is what they came in for. I'm clueless on what's going on.
- 4:55He's like, I know, I know where this could have happened.
- 4:58I can't say too much, but he's like I this, I promise to God I
- 5:01didn't do this and I'll provide proof.
- 5:03And if I were you, I would stay far away from me because this
- 5:06isn't going to end nicely. But Brittany didn't go away.
- 5:10She stayed by his side, stayed his friend, began dating him and
- 5:14then eventually they got married.
- 5:17And then he was indicted in Georgia on 40 counts, eventually
- 5:22took a plea where he pled guilty to 20 counts and sentenced to
- 5:26five years in prison, followed by 15 years probation.
- 5:30I want to be clear to the people in the comments.
- 5:33And Brittany, I'm not, I'm not breaking anything to her because
- 5:36she knows this. And but I want everyone else to
- 5:39know this. I don't believe Brittany.
- 5:42And I've told you this, I don't believe you.
- 5:45So I want people to understand that I've been very honest with
- 5:49Brittany from the very beginning when this story first broke,
- 5:52that I do not believe her at all.
- 5:56And I find it really interesting that even after this, Brittany,
- 5:59I mean, you still married him even after the accusations.
- 6:03Let let me ask you this. Why do you believe him?
- 6:07Why do you do you believe you might be lied to?
- 6:10No, because I am very investigative, so I didn't just
- 6:16take Josh's word for it. I'm not that naive.
- 6:18I made sure I spoke to everyone, and I still have, even after
- 6:21sentencing. I went far.
- 6:23I mean, I went pretty damn far. I've done everything as far as
- 6:27paying out of my own pocket for forensics.
- 6:30You know, I've done everything. So I've seen the forensics that
- 6:33not everybody else gets a chance to see.
- 6:35And there's kind of have to be careful or I'll say something
- 6:37that I'm not allowed to. But I wouldn't just naively
- 6:40believe a guy. I mean, honestly, I have too
- 6:43much to lose. I would not just believe
- 6:45someone. I had to see proof.
- 6:48I had to speak to attorney. I even asked to speak to the DA
- 6:50on my own. Like I asked to speak to the DA
- 6:52before I spoke to his attorney. I asked for all this evidence.
- 6:56I've read through his entire psychosexual analysis.
- 7:00I mean, word for word, every damn word of it.
- 7:02I've read through that. I've read through all the lie
- 7:04detectors. I've read through everything.
- 7:06And my view, the psychosexual analysis was like, the lady's
- 7:09like, I'm going to stand up for you.
- 7:10Like I've got your back because she knew, you know?
- 7:13So like, I didn't just blindly say, Oh my gosh, this guy's so
- 7:17attractive. Like I guess what people fail to
- 7:20understand is that I am aside from looks because I'm just
- 7:25going to be honest. I'm not some ugly troll.
- 7:28I am very successful. I am very well like mannered and
- 7:33I'm very nice to others. I'm kind of humane, but also I'm
- 7:37just not a dumb ass. I mean, I'm pretty blatant.
- 7:39Like I say everything I need to say.
- 7:43I do my due diligence. I think of myself as being
- 7:45pretty intelligent. I opened a business at age 21.
- 7:48You know, I've done all these things for myself.
- 7:49I've never relied on anyone. I don't need a man.
- 7:52There's no like, I don't need Josh at all.
- 7:54I choose to be with Josh. But I could go out tomorrow and
- 7:57find another guy who looks just like Josh, has triple the money
- 8:00of Josh. If I cared about that, I would
- 8:03have left a long time ago. I chose to put myself in the
- 8:06fire of losing my everything I have.
- 8:08I've lost my business, everything I've worked for.
- 8:11And it's because I stick up for people that I know have or been
- 8:16done have been done wrongly. But you do you do understand
- 8:19what you just said there? You understand why how that
- 8:22comes across, right? Yeah.
- 8:25And so. And I'm just being candid
- 8:28though, like I, I think because so many people, I see the
- 8:31comments that say she's with him for money, she's blindly in
- 8:35love. And it's like, I just want to, I
- 8:36have to watch my mouth, but I just want to like really like, I
- 8:39could move on tomorrow if I wanted to.
- 8:40I choose to stay because I know the truth and I stand up for
- 8:44what's right. Like I stand up.
- 8:45I'm loyal to those that I love. And this is where Brittany
- 8:49becomes a target herself because of the attitude she carries
- 8:53while defending her husband. It comes off as if she's
- 8:57dismissing victims, specifically the victims in his case.
- 9:03Let me ask you this and, and, and again, we can't go into
- 9:05details, but the, the truth is there are victims to this story.
- 9:10There are. How do you how do you process
- 9:14process that in your mind? I would be out there in advocacy
- 9:19programs today. We would have done it five years
- 9:21ago. We were we asked multiple times
- 9:24to be in advocacy programs because it's sick.
- 9:27Listen, the day that the day that Josh got the indictment,
- 9:30three years later, I remember us just falling to pieces, like
- 9:35reading detail for detail. I think people just think that I
- 9:38would, that I just brush those charges off.
- 9:40I'm disgusted. I, you know, I would never want
- 9:43a child harmed. I would never want anyone
- 9:46harmed, an adult anyone, but especially children.
- 9:48And I think that people just blindly assume that I am OK with
- 9:52it. And I would never want that.
- 9:53I would never allow that. I would never have anyone in my
- 9:55life who were capable of that. Because you have to think, at
- 9:58the time I had very young cousins and a 15 year old
- 10:00sister. So I would never in my life
- 10:03surround myself with someone that would harm children.
- 10:05That's sick. But there's just one problem
- 10:08with that, and Brittany knows this.
- 10:11If her husband is innocent, then why plead guilty?
- 10:15Naturally, you plead guilty. His attorney advised him to
- 10:18because he said if you don't, they're going to put you on
- 10:21trial and you'll be facing up to 20 years.
- 10:24And Josh wanted to plead not guilty.
- 10:27I mean, yeah, he wanted to plead not guilty.
- 10:28And I said, listen, five years or 20 years, I'm at the time,
- 10:34I'm 31 years old. I mean, think about it, that's I
- 10:39would be 51 and he would be 59 or I would be 51 and he'd be
- 10:43like 59 by the time he got out. Like am I supposed to waste away
- 10:47my entire life and just be, I mean, he wanted to, but I'm just
- 10:50being, I was just candid with him.
- 10:52I was like, do you want me to waste away all of my years for
- 10:55you to sit in prison for 20 years when the chance?
- 10:59I mean, they're like 5% of people are actually like go to
- 11:03trial. Most people don't go to trial.
- 11:05Usually a lot of people plead not guilty to get out on lesser
- 11:09time. I'm going to give you a scenario
- 11:11and you comment however you feel.
- 11:16Is it possible that he didn't want this to go to trial because
- 11:20pleading guilty, the evidence doesn't come out?
- 11:22Is it possible he didn't want it to go to trial to hide what he
- 11:26actually did? Well, if he did it, I would I
- 11:30would agree. But no, he that's not at all
- 11:33that he was OK with going to trial.
- 11:35His attorney overly advised he was like, I wouldn't do that.
- 11:39You're going to, they're going to waste all this money on this
- 11:41trial. You just need to do a non guilty
- 11:43plea. You know, his attorney down to
- 11:45the last minute also had us not thinking he was serving,
- 11:47thinking he was not serving time.
- 11:49And I mean, I will say the judge even told us had this happened 2
- 11:53counties over in Jones County or wherever, you'd be out on
- 11:57probation, whatever. I asked Brittany if her husband
- 12:01was fairly represented that if the advice given to them by his
- 12:06attorney was the right advice. I don't want to put you on the
- 12:11spot, but do you feel he was fairly represented?
- 12:15No, absolutely not. No, we've stood by that.
- 12:18I, I think, listen, I don't think that it was malicious
- 12:22intent. I think that this attorney was
- 12:24originally paid 5 plus years ago at this point.
- 12:28Josh was arrested in April of 2020.
- 12:31We went to trial on what, June? We're not trial.
- 12:34I'm sorry. I went to sentencing in June of
- 12:352025. I think he was just ready to
- 12:37throw this because I was driving this man crazy down to the wire.
- 12:41I mean, like all the way down to the final minute, I was driving
- 12:43this man crazy. And I think he was just ready to
- 12:45be done with it. And if I'm being honest, I do
- 12:48think that there was some correlation between him and the
- 12:54DA. He's he's been ADA before and we
- 12:56found it, we found out a lot of things afterwards.
- 12:57So yeah, I don't, I don't think he was.
- 12:59He was fairly represented at all.
- 13:01Brittany isn't afraid to stand up for herself, and she does so
- 13:04in quite the brash way. And that attracts controversy.
- 13:09And the online community has been relentless at going after
- 13:13Brittany Stapleton. I'll say this, if I were on the
- 13:17outside and I were you or anyone else looking in and not knowing
- 13:22the things I do, I would be like, that girl has lost her
- 13:25mind. I would wonder.
- 13:26I would probably wonder if there was more to it.
- 13:29But yeah, I mean, at first glance, I would think that I'm
- 13:32full of, I mean, I even said that to you.
- 13:34You know, I think I would think that a lot of people, they push
- 13:39it too far. And I think that at least I'll
- 13:41at least say this about you. You have not been out there
- 13:44accusing me of doing anything. You haven't been out there like
- 13:46some of them saying, Oh, well, Brittany was looking at images,
- 13:49too. Brittany was doing things like
- 13:51that. I think that when they go that
- 13:53far, they're really pushing it. Like to an extent, they can say
- 13:56what they want to say about Josh's charges.
- 13:58He's been convicted. They can say all they want to
- 14:00say about him. But to like put me into it and
- 14:04say that I would ever harm a child or look at images of
- 14:06children being harmed or anything like that, that's just
- 14:09pushing it. I mean that's that's so far
- 14:11fetched. Listen, you kind of embrace the
- 14:14drama a little bit, don't you? Yeah, I used to not be like that
- 14:17either. Like if you go back to our page
- 14:19beforehand, you would probably never see anything hateful about
- 14:24anyone ever. But when they came after my
- 14:27career, and, you know, I had a massive career to uphold too.
- 14:31So whenever all this came out, I had to watch what I say, what I
- 14:34said. And, you know, I just don't play
- 14:36when it comes to people. I'm not.
- 14:37I'm not playing with people anymore because no one has the
- 14:40most perfect past. To be honest.
- 14:42I don't have anything they can come after.
- 14:44If you, you can say so many things about me, but it can't
- 14:46get much worse than being known as being a pedo.
- 14:49So it can't get much worse. So I just like, I don't care.
- 14:51I just go after people now if they come after me, if I can
- 14:54deal with that every day, wake up immediately, look at my phone
- 14:57and be just getting destroyed every day, then you can get
- 15:00through whatever hard time you're going through.
- 15:01And that's been my biggest thing.
- 15:03And you know, the messages I get every morning when I wake up on
- 15:06top of all those awful ones are really good ones like, hey, you
- 15:09inspired me to get up, do my hair, do my makeup so that I
- 15:13would feel better about myself and keep going.
- 15:14And I'm like, those are the ones that matter.
- 15:16Those are the only ones that matter.
- 15:17The rest don't. But what what about those
- 15:20children that go through this? You get what I mean?
- 15:23Like I guess my question is, why is he worth it to put him above
- 15:31the children that go through this?
- 15:33Does that make sense? No, that's a great question.
- 15:35He no one is worth going through that for.
- 15:40And I think if anything, that's why I wouldn't stand by someone
- 15:43who would harm children. There is not a soul out there.
- 15:47My listen, I always say my baby sister, if you follow me, you
- 15:50know, is my pride and my joy. I would absolutely in her life
- 15:55if she were involved in something that harm children,
- 15:57like I, I mean, I, I wouldn't stand for that.
- 15:58I wouldn't. So no, no one would be ever
- 16:01worth anyone like defending anyone over people who harm
- 16:04children. No one.
- 16:05And I mean, listen, even Josh agrees on that.
- 16:08Like we have tried and tried. We were going to join these
- 16:11advocacy groups and things to help during, but we were advised
- 16:14not to do that. Wouldn't be a good luck.
- 16:16You don't want to be involved in anything that has to do with
- 16:18children when you're going through this stuff.
- 16:19I would do anything in the world to join advocacy groups to help
- 16:23this, to help these kids get off the Internet, like to shut down
- 16:26these discords and all these things that like people say that
- 16:29they're on. That's brutal.
- 16:30I don't want any child to be harmed.
- 16:32So no, if I thought Josh were guilty, I wouldn't be standing
- 16:35by. I've I've said that from day
- 16:36one. And here's where a little bit of
- 16:39my personal opinion comes in. I believe her husband is lying
- 16:44to her specifically. I think Brittany believes what
- 16:48she believes, but I don't think she has the entire truth.
- 16:53So I asked her about that. Do you ever question yourself
- 16:57that just maybe he is lying? The beginning.
- 17:02I did in the beginning. I for sure did.
- 17:04I There were times where I was, like they said, for real right
- 17:08now. I mean, I wasn't Again, I wasn't
- 17:11blindly going into it. I was like, I want proof of
- 17:13this. I want proof of this.
- 17:15I would call the attorney. I made him give me access
- 17:18because the attorney couldn't talk to me for a while.
- 17:19I was like, now I want access to talk to the attorney and ask him
- 17:21everything. I want all the details.
- 17:24And so he get, he promised that was one condition of getting
- 17:27married. I want full access to attorney,
- 17:29any documents, anything because I guess the indictment came
- 17:32after we got married. So you know, that was a lot.
- 17:36That was a whole lot for us both to take in.
- 17:38So I just made sure I had access to everything from the discovery
- 17:41to all the reports, everything. And you know, what's next is
- 17:46going to be, you know, it's a lot.
- 17:50It's a lot to think of. You know, you have to know that
- 17:53the rest of your life, whether he's cleared of this or he's
- 17:56not, he will always, always be known as a pedophile.
- 18:02Brittany has accepted that her life is never going to be the
- 18:04same again. And so that makes you wonder, is
- 18:09there a truth out there that we have yet to see?
- 18:13There's a woman who's willing to literally sacrifice everything
- 18:18for this man, the man who sits in prison right now?
- 18:22Or is this just simply blind love going down a very, very
- 18:29dark path?
