- 0:02Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 0:07Speaker 1: deals by a Toyota dot Com.
- 0:11Speaker 2: All right back here on Radio Row, It's Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Evan Duce, Paul Me, Matt Anthony. Back there. We were
- 0:22Speaker 3: just champion.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We were just joined by the Governor of Massachusetts, Mara Heally.
- 0:26Speaker 2: That was pretty cool. But now not to be upstaged. Uh,
- 0:31Speaker 2: it's Sebastian Vohmer, even a bigger.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I mean in sebastiical. Sebastian, how you doing.
- 0:40Speaker 4: I'm doing fantastic. This is got back at it.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I know, isn't this amazing? Great?
- 0:46Speaker 4: Took a little semi hiatis that's fun.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's okay, little sabbatical.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the franchise were killful.
- 0:51Speaker 3: This yeah, love it.
- 0:52Speaker 2: We had to get our legs and now we got
- 0:53Speaker 2: them back underneath us and we're back.
- 0:55Speaker 3: So what are you up to a lot?
- 0:57Speaker 5: So I'm gonna be doing for the sideline for the
- 1:00Speaker 5: German broadcast our Tales the rights holder in Germany. So
- 1:03Speaker 5: I'll be doing that and then obviously doing some content
- 1:06Speaker 5: for the Patriots, like all on the international side and
- 1:08Speaker 5: trying to get it all onder like one hat you know,
- 1:11Speaker 5: NFL Patriots and the broadcasting stuff.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yep, so you've been making your rounds. You've been to
- 1:17Speaker 2: radio rope before.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I have.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you think about this whole thing? It's
- 1:22Speaker 2: pretty wild, is exactly that.
- 1:23Speaker 5: I think it's exhausting and I don't know if it's
- 1:25Speaker 5: like the chatter everywhere you go. But as a former player,
- 1:28Speaker 5: it's cool because you see so many guys who played against,
- 1:30Speaker 5: who played with and it's kind of like this like.
- 1:32Speaker 4: High school reunion type.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think it's always cool, like the entire
- 1:36Speaker 5: Super Bowl week just seeing old friends and all of that.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the cool been.
- 1:40Speaker 6: The coolest part I think to just watch is like
- 1:42Speaker 6: to how the former and current players walking around and
- 1:44Speaker 6: you guys reuniting and stuff like that. I saw Nico
- 1:48Speaker 6: he was walking around earlier today too. What's that like
- 1:50Speaker 6: to just like see guys that you have it's like
- 1:54Speaker 6: ten years probably in some cases.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Exactly, it's it's it's really cold.
- 1:59Speaker 5: I mean, I think when you play football and you're like,
- 2:01Speaker 5: you know, in sweatpants in the locker room and you're thirty, rights,
- 2:05Speaker 5: I feel like there's not a lot of jobs, but
- 2:06Speaker 5: you can actually do that and you sweat, you battle,
- 2:10Speaker 5: you win super Bowls together, and I think it really
- 2:13Speaker 5: creates a bond.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And yeah, you're right.
- 2:14Speaker 5: I mean, obviously people live in Massachusetts, then you know
- 2:17Speaker 5: I moved to Florida, or people go to California, like
- 2:19Speaker 5: all that stuff. When you don't get to see each other,
- 2:21Speaker 5: but then you have a yearly event and you make
- 2:23Speaker 5: it happen.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Really, it's just it's just cool.
- 2:25Speaker 7: It just feels good, Sebastian. Over the course of the year,
- 2:28Speaker 7: Will Campbell left tackle, What did you see from him
- 2:31Speaker 7: over the course of the air and how he developed?
- 2:34Speaker 5: I thought he had a really good season. Obviously struggled
- 2:37Speaker 5: a little bit in the playoffs. I think we gave
- 2:39Speaker 5: up fifteen sacks in the playoffs. Probably don't want to
- 2:42Speaker 5: do any of that, just come inside that. However, AH
- 2:46Speaker 5: love everything about him, I think obviously the aggressiveness, the
- 2:51Speaker 5: ownership when he plays good or bad, he's extremely self motivated.
- 2:56Speaker 5: I think that's phenomenal. But I mean, we can forget
- 2:59Speaker 5: he's a rookie, right, I mean, you don't if you're
- 3:01Speaker 5: the best in college, how else are you going to
- 3:04Speaker 5: get better? You get better of our competition. You get
- 3:05Speaker 5: better being in these big games. You get better by
- 3:08Speaker 5: facing the number one, two, three, five defense. As he said, well,
- 3:12Speaker 5: those defensive ends make you know, three hundred million dollars
- 3:14Speaker 5: whatever it was, right, and those are experienced it. And
- 3:17Speaker 5: when I got to the league, right, I think my
- 3:19Speaker 5: first start was against Droy Freeney. But all of a
- 3:21Speaker 5: sudden you're like, ooh, Dore's a Hall of Famer, but
- 3:23Speaker 5: you can help. And obviously, Josh mcgannone's this phenomenal in
- 3:27Speaker 5: putting the right game plan together, helping out quick passes, screens,
- 3:31Speaker 5: chips like all that souff.
- 3:31Speaker 4: So I'm not too worried about it, to be honest.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So, I mean, we had a bunch of people on here,
- 3:36Speaker 2: Mike Reese one of them who thinks that the offensive
- 3:40Speaker 2: line needs to hold up. That's the key to the game,
- 3:42Speaker 2: he thinks, is the Patriots offensive line.
- 3:45Speaker 5: I would agree with that, And I mean, obviously you
- 3:47Speaker 5: can make that point in really any game, Like if
- 3:49Speaker 5: you give up a bunch of sacks and your quarterback
- 3:50Speaker 5: is running for your life or for his life, it's
- 3:52Speaker 5: hard to win. Even with Tom back then. I mean
- 3:55Speaker 5: the Super Bowl we lost against.
- 3:57Speaker 4: The Giants, I brought. Yeah, yeah, it does something.
- 4:01Speaker 5: I mean I get it, right, you just staying there
- 4:03Speaker 5: and you get hit left and right. I mean you mentally,
- 4:06Speaker 5: you're worried about yourself, right, It's in human nature. So
- 4:08Speaker 5: I one hundred percent get it. But I do think
- 4:10Speaker 5: that Drake handled the pressure phenomenally well. I don't think
- 4:13Speaker 5: he took the foot of the gas. I don't think
- 4:15Speaker 5: he got more careful or is it cautious, but it's
- 4:17Speaker 5: a better word. Yeah, but I would agree, I would agree.
- 4:20Speaker 5: I don't think Josh is gonna McDaniel's gonna put him
- 4:22Speaker 5: in a position where he needs to block for five
- 4:24Speaker 5: six seconds.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I think that might move the pocket again.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Screens and typically what we did when I when you
- 4:30Speaker 5: know Meo, Nate or Matt had those defensive ends, you
- 4:35Speaker 5: start off and maybe you know a chip, a trap,
- 4:38Speaker 5: things where the defensive end or any pressure position.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Definitely think about it kind of the same thing.
- 4:43Speaker 5: What the quarterback does when he gets hit, Well, let's
- 4:45Speaker 5: hit that guy from the side, right, from the left,
- 4:46Speaker 5: from the right, and now he has something else to
- 4:48Speaker 5: think about and can't just tee off.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Right, What have you seen from Seattle?
- 4:52Speaker 8: You know up front, how you know, how would the
- 4:54Speaker 8: Patriots be able to hold up?
- 4:55Speaker 3: Based on what you've seen from that Seattle defensive line.
- 4:58Speaker 5: They're good, and I think the they have representation of
- 5:01Speaker 5: the entire defense. They aggressive, Their past remind me to
- 5:04Speaker 5: a degree of the defense we played eleven years ago
- 5:06Speaker 5: in the Super Bowl. Like, you gotta gotta respect. Obviously,
- 5:08Speaker 5: you gotta respect them, you gotta respect any defense. Obviously,
- 5:11Speaker 5: they are well coached, They hustle. I think they'll have
- 5:15Speaker 5: a tendency maybe on the deep ball to give that
- 5:19Speaker 5: up thing and zone. But on that front, I think
- 5:22Speaker 5: obviously with Drake be the best deepot pass in the game,
- 5:24Speaker 5: that helps. But as you were saying, well you got
- 5:26Speaker 5: to hold up for that, right, you need some time,
- 5:28Speaker 5: So I think you pick your spots. You might do
- 5:30Speaker 5: like on second down, but we always did and it
- 5:34Speaker 5: would be a similar approach. Obviously, you want to stay
- 5:37Speaker 5: ahead of down in distance, that's right. We don't want
- 5:39Speaker 5: to get in third and long and these keys. Obviously
- 5:42Speaker 5: it's every game and every week it should.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Be like that.
- 5:45Speaker 5: But I think it's extremely important to do it this way.
- 5:47Speaker 5: And yeah, they're working on that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So Patriots aren't going to be playing in Brazil, that's
- 5:55Speaker 2: for sure. We're not gonna be playing in Australia, that's
- 5:58Speaker 2: already been announced.
- 6:00Speaker 3: But there's a Munich.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Game coming out, and uh, we wouldn't be the home team.
- 6:04Speaker 3: But I hope have you heard anything. I haven't heard.
- 6:08Speaker 5: No, I haven't heard anything yet, but we have an
- 6:09Speaker 5: international meeting Tonight's let me find.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Because I love to go back to Munich. I had
- 6:18Speaker 3: a great time, great host.
- 6:20Speaker 4: I think the city is so walkable.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Yeah, so even like four American fans coming there, I
- 6:24Speaker 5: think it's a great experience. It's a great representation of Germany.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I think it's good foods obviously beers.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Christmas time and it's just exactly that.
- 6:32Speaker 5: I think the well coming and the way they did
- 6:35Speaker 5: it and all the fan pubs and the activations. We
- 6:37Speaker 5: did not in Munich, but we went to Frankfurt. I
- 6:40Speaker 5: think it's phenomenal. I think it's great. For when we
- 6:43Speaker 5: went to.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Munich, we were at the hot spot I forget the name.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yeah we all, yeah, we did a lot of Munich.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Yeah, so I think.
- 6:50Speaker 5: It's cool, like it's it's yeah, just with the teams
- 6:53Speaker 5: really embracing the marketing and trying to get the fans involved.
- 6:59Speaker 5: I think it's phenomenal. And then always obviously we have
- 7:01Speaker 5: done a lot of cool activations together and yeah, it's
- 7:04Speaker 5: been been only positive.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yep. All right, So Sebastian, appreciate you coming by.
- 7:09Speaker 9: You know, where's your ring? You picked the ring off?
- 7:11Speaker 4: I took him off there, you know here right here?
- 7:14Speaker 6: Yeah, right, he told me that too bad he didn't
- 7:16Speaker 6: run the ball. That's what you said to us earlier.
- 7:18Speaker 5: I mean for them, yeah, but I mean, obviously don't
- 7:21Speaker 5: want to keep analyzing, but I think it was the
- 7:24Speaker 5: right call, right, But information a defense.
- 7:26Speaker 6: Had, I mean, yeah, that's what that's what they like.
- 7:31Speaker 9: Yeah, they they came in.
- 7:32Speaker 6: That goal line three corner package, so they had like
- 7:34Speaker 6: seven guys up on the line of scrimmage and uh
- 7:37Speaker 6: they they just Matt Patricia said that they was the
- 7:40Speaker 6: one time they've called that package the entire season.
- 7:43Speaker 8: I've seen a lot of one yard touchdown runs into
- 7:45Speaker 8: the goal wine heavy defense.
- 7:48Speaker 6: But with the time on the clock and the and
- 7:51Speaker 6: the you know all that, there was some method to
- 7:54Speaker 6: the madness of throwing.
- 7:55Speaker 3: It just wasn't a great pass. I like it. It works.
- 7:59Speaker 3: It's one of the moments of the NFL.
- 8:02Speaker 8: So we had just a quick story. Freddy, Mike and
- 8:04Speaker 8: I were coming around the corner out here and there
- 8:07Speaker 8: was a Seahawks fan who saw us and saw a
- 8:09Speaker 8: lot of Patriots stuff. It's like, we're gonna beat you,
- 8:11Speaker 8: gonna beat you, and it's like you're not going to
- 8:14Speaker 8: throw the ball this time. And Mike said, well, you
- 8:16Speaker 8: don't have Marshaw on anymore, so it doesn't really matter.
- 8:19Speaker 8: And he was like going back and forth. So we
- 8:21Speaker 8: turned the corner and who do we see Malcolm Butler.
- 8:24Speaker 7: We we should have gone back with him. We should
- 8:26Speaker 7: have gone back. That would have been the all time
- 8:28Speaker 7: dropped the Mike moment, like what.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Were you saying that?
- 8:30Speaker 2: Then it's Kinry here malcol a word all right, Sebastian,
- 8:35Speaker 2: thanks for coming by, Vomer super Bowl champion with the
- 8:41Speaker 2: New England Patriots from Houston.
- 8:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 8:46Speaker 7: I always love when SeaBASS pops up around our area.
- 8:49Speaker 7: All of a sudden. You just see this monstrous guy,
- 8:51Speaker 7: you know, putting out the sun. Yeah, Sea Basses in town.
- 8:55Speaker 2: But I'll tell you nobody looks better after his football career.
- 8:58Speaker 3: The Sebastian volmer terrific.
- 9:00Speaker 10: He does.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Yeah, and I think we The first time I really
- 9:03Speaker 7: talked to him were in the combine and we just
- 9:06Speaker 7: sat in like the you know, it was the end
- 9:07Speaker 7: of the night and we all just had a couple
- 9:08Speaker 7: of drinks and we're and he just was telling the
- 9:10Speaker 7: stories and oh my gosh, it was a total blast,
- 9:12Speaker 7: great guy.
- 9:13Speaker 3: It was that.
- 9:14Speaker 6: I was just about to say that, dude, that was
- 9:16Speaker 6: like a pinch me moment. I was like, I, those
- 9:18Speaker 6: are the times where you have to remind yourself with
- 9:21Speaker 6: you told like fifteen year old me that you're just
- 9:23Speaker 6: going to be hanging out with a bash and volmer
- 9:25Speaker 6: and talking about you know, Patriots stories and stuff like that,
- 9:28Speaker 6: you would.
- 9:28Speaker 3: It's over the mo.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Yeah, it's funny you said that. I kind of felt similarly.
- 9:31Speaker 7: Paul and I got a conversation last night with with
- 9:33Speaker 7: Jason mccordy a little bit, and it's, you know, usually
- 9:35Speaker 7: when you're going to ask players questions, you're trying to
- 9:37Speaker 7: think of, you know, a good question or you know,
- 9:39Speaker 7: and it's maybe it's in the locker room or there's
- 9:41Speaker 7: something you know, other people around and there's some pressure.
- 9:43Speaker 7: But when you get into those situations where you're just
- 9:46Speaker 7: kind of hanging out and talking. It's so much more
- 9:49Speaker 7: comfortable and loose, and they start to tell you things,
- 9:51Speaker 7: and it's those I haven't had a lot of those moments,
- 9:54Speaker 7: but they've all been great.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Yep, yeah, good stuff. Yeah, the guests keep on coming,
- 9:59Speaker 2: Will and Franston. I assume that's Rhode Island. Hope you're
- 10:03Speaker 2: having a blast. That being said, I think it's atrocious
- 10:06Speaker 2: that people are sleeping on Gonzo as hard as they
- 10:08Speaker 2: are playing, are playing JSN. The Seahawks haven't seen this
- 10:12Speaker 2: good of a defense since they played the Texans early
- 10:14Speaker 2: this year. They are dragging us through the mud like
- 10:17Speaker 2: we don't belong here. I think they are in for
- 10:20Speaker 2: a surprise that in the fact that people don't believe
- 10:23Speaker 2: in Drake May like he's not an MVP runner up.
- 10:26Speaker 3: He played in the Elements.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I have full confidence he will bounce back in a
- 10:30Speaker 2: big way this game. Let's go Patriots. Shut the haters up.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I love it.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Maybe we're just we've been kind of in our doing
- 10:37Speaker 6: our own thing and in our bubble. I haven't heard
- 10:39Speaker 6: a ton of vitriol towards the Patriots. I mean May again,
- 10:44Speaker 6: we've been busy in.
- 10:45Speaker 8: But I will heard the Christian Gonzales hate.
- 10:47Speaker 6: No, I think most people think he's one of the
- 10:52Speaker 6: best corners in football.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Well, I will say that, you know, I'm on my
- 10:55Speaker 2: Milton Williams MVP kick. But let's say that they do
- 11:00Speaker 2: put Gonzo on JSN for the whole game and he
- 11:03Speaker 2: shuts them down.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Yeah, and the Patriots win. Yeah, would he be a candidate? Yeah?
- 11:07Speaker 9: I mean usually with that, like you need a pick
- 11:09Speaker 9: or something, you need stats.
- 11:11Speaker 8: But yeah, but like, let's I'm not arguing with you
- 11:15Speaker 8: about the validity of what you're saying, but let's just
- 11:17Speaker 8: say JSN gets three catches for thirty yards and the
- 11:20Speaker 8: Patriots win thirty one to fourteen. Christian Gonzales isn't getting
- 11:24Speaker 8: MVP unless it was like three catches for thirty yards
- 11:27Speaker 8: and a pick six.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Or something like that. Yeah, what did the kid?
- 11:30Speaker 7: What did the cornerback from Dallas do when he got it?
- 11:33Speaker 3: They had two picks?
- 11:33Speaker 4: Two picks.
- 11:35Speaker 6: Yeah, it's funny how Carlon Davison Christian Gonzales had zero
- 11:40Speaker 6: interceptions in the regular season, the two of them zero,
- 11:43Speaker 6: and then Davis had two in the Houston game and
- 11:47Speaker 6: Gonzo had the game sealing interception in the AFC championship game.
- 11:50Speaker 6: It's funny how like they kind of come in bunches,
- 11:53Speaker 6: you know, And it was a shut down tandem, zero
- 11:57Speaker 6: picks all year long, and then they get three in
- 11:59Speaker 6: two playoffs.
- 12:00Speaker 8: And if he's gonna be on JSN a lot, he's
- 12:02Speaker 8: going to have a lot of opportunities because they're going
- 12:04Speaker 8: to throw the ball to Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 7: Yeah. The thing the thing I like about Paul is
- 12:07Speaker 7: he doesn't give a lot of credit for they chucked
- 12:10Speaker 7: it right to him. But those Carlton Davis ones full credit,
- 12:13Speaker 7: full credit on those interceptions where he's diving. Getting a
- 12:16Speaker 7: knee down like N was just unbelievable. I mean, it's
- 12:19Speaker 7: just a great, great place.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Hey, what's happening? All right, let's get back to the phones.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Eight five to five, pats five hundred. Let's go to
- 12:32Speaker 2: David in Nevada. He's going to give it another shot.
- 12:36Speaker 2: What's up, David?
- 12:37Speaker 3: David? David?
- 12:40Speaker 4: Why can't we get it?
- 12:41Speaker 3: I don't talk to us.
- 12:43Speaker 8: Want talk?
- 12:44Speaker 3: How about Teak in San Mateo? What's up? Teak?
- 12:48Speaker 2: There?
- 12:48Speaker 3: He is? How you doing?
- 12:50Speaker 11: Hey, I'm right here?
- 12:52Speaker 12: Can you hear me?
- 12:52Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 12:54Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 12:54Speaker 11: So first off, Hey, I can't believe I'm following the
- 12:57Speaker 11: Governor of Massachusetts and Sebastians.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Thanks for again, it's quite the parent Yeah, gonor Germany.
- 13:07Speaker 7: Ambassador.
- 13:07Speaker 11: Maybe I want to say huge thank you for the
- 13:11Speaker 11: sixteen hours of content. It's been absolutely awesome. I know,
- 13:14Speaker 11: not easy four hours a day. So it's just you
- 13:16Speaker 11: guys make a huge.
- 13:17Speaker 15: Difference, I want to say, for the past nation that
- 13:19Speaker 15: leads into each other.
- 13:20Speaker 11: The fans, the team, you guys who really make the
- 13:22Speaker 11: whole thing different.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 13:24Speaker 11: And I might be a little bit of a massacre
- 13:28Speaker 11: in this thinking, but I'm almost glad May did not
- 13:30Speaker 11: win the MVPN. I'm almost tired of all of this
- 13:32Speaker 11: talk of who wons that and that, and it's we're
- 13:36Speaker 11: above it.
- 13:36Speaker 15: I see it.
- 13:37Speaker 11: The play gate, five gate, the history of this team.
- 13:40Speaker 15: We're better than the rest of the NFL.
- 13:42Speaker 11: So to be worrying about these honour wards, it's all
- 13:44Speaker 11: for them. They can all worry about the little trophies
- 13:47Speaker 11: and the little pretty dances and dressing up on a suit,
- 13:49Speaker 11: but like we're the ones actually playing on Sundays.
- 13:51Speaker 3: That's right. Tired of that talking. Yeah, I like that
- 13:55Speaker 3: kind of talk.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Love it, Teak, Thanks for the call, appreciate it. We'll
- 13:59Speaker 2: go over to Marilyn Ryan. What's up Ryan?
- 14:05Speaker 3: Ryan? Right?
- 14:07Speaker 2: People don't hang on all right, all right, David's going
- 14:09Speaker 2: to give it another shot from the fattom.
- 14:11Speaker 3: He's ready this time.
- 14:12Speaker 9: He's David you there, can you hear me?
- 14:16Speaker 3: Yes?
- 14:16Speaker 16: Oh my god, having your flies down, bro, I've been
- 14:19Speaker 16: trying to fucking contact you.
- 14:20Speaker 17: Man.
- 14:21Speaker 16: I'm sorry, I'll shoot, I'm sorry.
- 14:22Speaker 12: He quick a couple of things.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Man.
- 14:26Speaker 16: Let's see, I have one life regret and it's with
- 14:29Speaker 16: PFW man and uh Fred, you've kind of a toned
- 14:33Speaker 16: for me a little bit, dude. I always wanted to
- 14:35Speaker 16: call in and tell Eric that he's been pronouncing his
- 14:38Speaker 16: last name wrong. It's Kalaveno, not Sklavino.
- 14:40Speaker 3: That's right, that's correct.
- 14:43Speaker 16: Yeah, dude, there was a little clip, a little runner
- 14:45Speaker 16: of you saying that, man, and that made me.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Feel so good.
- 14:47Speaker 16: Dude. But uh hey, I got a patch twenty seventeen.
- 14:51Speaker 16: I got a plus six seventy five bet it's patch
- 14:55Speaker 16: on the money line the under and Borgala is having
- 14:58Speaker 16: a plus one and a half field goals. And what
- 15:00Speaker 16: do I got to do to get a T shirt
- 15:03Speaker 16: signed by you guys?
- 15:03Speaker 18: Man?
- 15:04Speaker 16: I've been listening since two thousand and six, after Oh God,
- 15:08Speaker 16: I forgot to do his name two thousand and seven.
- 15:10Speaker 16: Start listening. You guys have been loyal listener. I haven't
- 15:12Speaker 16: missed many shows. Man, you guys are the best. Thank
- 15:14Speaker 16: you so much.
- 15:15Speaker 2: We'll get your T shirt. Yeah, send any send an
- 15:17Speaker 2: email with your address on it.
- 15:19Speaker 7: Thanks David. He's been trying to call all morning, so yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 7: that's he thought he earned it. Then yeah, we'll sign it.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Brendan writes in from Connecticut.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Marcus Jones has two touchdowns, he says, in the game,
- 15:30Speaker 2: one punt return for a touchdown and one pick six.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Now that's an MVP. That would be an MVP.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Patriots win by double digits. Patriots D line dominates
- 15:40Speaker 2: Seattle O line and rattles Darnold, not to the point
- 15:43Speaker 2: of seeing ghosts, but enough that he makes multiple errors.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Seattle's lack of coaching experience and big games contributes to
- 15:50Speaker 2: their loss. May has an up and down day, but
- 15:52Speaker 2: does enough to protect the point lead that Jones provided.
- 15:57Speaker 3: So okay, we'll take it.
- 15:59Speaker 7: Matt Matty. Maybe we need to dress up as ghosts
- 16:01Speaker 7: for the Super Bowl, like walk just getting out we
- 16:08Speaker 7: get some screen time we're just I will just paint
- 16:11Speaker 7: our chests. That's what I gotta.
- 16:12Speaker 6: You might get in trouble, like the ghosting, like oh right, yeah,
- 16:22Speaker 6: Blue Square Duce and I are going to pay any
- 16:24Speaker 6: p on our chest go shirtless.
- 16:26Speaker 9: Okay, that's better, that's a better idea.
- 16:28Speaker 7: Yeah, that's gonna have to shave my chest first, but
- 16:30Speaker 7: that's all right.
- 16:31Speaker 2: So Ryan in Salt Lake City says he has concerns
- 16:35Speaker 2: with Josh McDaniels.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I'm hot take.
- 16:38Speaker 2: He says, McDaniels will not be back as OC in
- 16:41Speaker 2: twenty twenty seven unless he changes his style. Why he
- 16:45Speaker 2: has one of the most dynamic quarterbacks but is not
- 16:47Speaker 2: progressive or dynamic with his play calls other than the
- 16:51Speaker 2: occasional trick play for little game. You have all pushed
- 16:54Speaker 2: back on the criticism of Daniels, and that has been disappointing.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Paw pause, I mean, Paul, please don't interrupt. Run left,
- 17:02Speaker 2: run right. Then we leave Drake with a third and
- 17:04Speaker 2: seven obvious passing situation. Trevian can catch passes and run
- 17:08Speaker 2: at lightning speed, yet we use Ramantra for that purpose.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Who was slower, but Trevian is in the backfield. It's
- 17:14Speaker 2: typically a run. It's like Patricia is calling the plays again,
- 17:17Speaker 2: come on, Josh, do better.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Wow. What do you think Evan bro he won a
- 17:25Speaker 3: consistent Coach of the Year.
- 17:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I always think it's funny to run left,
- 17:31Speaker 6: run right, third and long like that. Like it's it's
- 17:34Speaker 6: that's that's It's really that simple, is what they're doing.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 17:40Speaker 6: I mean, I think Josh McDaniel's done a nice job
- 17:43Speaker 6: of marrying some of the moving pockets, bootlegs, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 6: some quarterback run things that we've seen a little bit
- 17:51Speaker 6: in the playoffs. Certainly, I think there's a lot more
- 17:56Speaker 6: of that that's kind of meat on the Bonetually. I
- 18:00Speaker 6: talked to him about this the other day and I
- 18:02Speaker 6: wrote a story about it. He even said, I think
- 18:04Speaker 6: we're just kind of scratching the surface of where it's at.
- 18:07Speaker 6: But you know, at the end of the day, even
- 18:08Speaker 6: though we're here, you know, it was year one in
- 18:10Speaker 6: the system and kind of learning the system and learning
- 18:13Speaker 6: the ins and out of the offense and each other.
- 18:16Speaker 6: But I think that there's a lot of good, unique
- 18:19Speaker 6: things that they've done, and I think the biggest thing
- 18:21Speaker 6: of all is that they found like a core set
- 18:24Speaker 6: of plays that Drake May is clearly extremely comfortable running.
- 18:28Speaker 6: I would just say I think that email is a
- 18:31Speaker 6: little ill timed, Like, what did they What are the
- 18:36Speaker 6: Patriots finishing points this year scoring? I can give me
- 18:40Speaker 6: second in the regular season second second, So they scored
- 18:43Speaker 6: the second per game. How would you describe the Patriots
- 18:49Speaker 6: cast of offensive talent?
- 18:51Speaker 8: Yeah, okay, okay, average average. Yeah, you know, a quarterback
- 18:55Speaker 8: playing an elite level with average talent around him. That's
- 18:58Speaker 8: one of the reasons why we all wanted Drake May
- 19:00Speaker 8: to win the MVP, and he just never called good
- 19:04Speaker 8: plays all year, Like with he has average talent, obvious
- 19:09Speaker 8: holes to work around on the offensive line with a
- 19:11Speaker 8: couple of kids starting. Yeah, so he has to devote
- 19:14Speaker 8: some time to help those guys, especially to the edges
- 19:18Speaker 8: when and he doesn't get any credit for like scoring
- 19:22Speaker 8: over twenty eight points a game and it's not been
- 19:25Speaker 8: you know, a ton of defensive set up scores this year.
- 19:29Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 19:30Speaker 8: Their offensive DVOA is probably pretty good.
- 19:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean they were third in yards, second in points,
- 19:36Speaker 6: first in EPA per play, top ten in DVOA on offense.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Their quarterback was just the runner up for MVP and
- 19:42Speaker 6: almost won the thing.
- 19:43Speaker 9: There.
- 19:44Speaker 6: You know, rookie running back that he apparently they don't
- 19:46Speaker 6: use correctly, was a nominee for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
- 19:49Speaker 6: Stefan Diggs was a nominee for Comeback Player of the Year.
- 19:52Speaker 6: And so, you know, all this kind of happened, and
- 19:55Speaker 6: I understand that. You know, everybody is fair to criticize
- 19:59Speaker 6: what they want to criticize.
- 20:00Speaker 8: That's why I'm not Yeah, I'm not killing the email.
- 20:01Speaker 8: I know he took a shot at me and there,
- 20:03Speaker 8: I'm not killing the email. I just think it's it's
- 20:05Speaker 8: an odd time for it based on the season that
- 20:07Speaker 8: they just had.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Yeah, I would also just add really quickly that their
- 20:12Speaker 6: early down pass right, how frequently they pass on first
- 20:15Speaker 6: and second down they are near the top of the league.
- 20:18Speaker 6: And how often they pass on first down, so like
- 20:20Speaker 6: this run run, third down and long. I don't now
- 20:24Speaker 6: they've played that way a little bit in the playoffs,
- 20:26Speaker 6: you know. I think I think a lot of these
- 20:28Speaker 6: games in the playoffs have been that kind of game,
- 20:30Speaker 6: and they've sort of declared it that way and leaned
- 20:33Speaker 6: on the defense more and just hope the defense can
- 20:35Speaker 6: kind of batten down the half.
- 20:36Speaker 8: I think you had an entire second half in Denver
- 20:39Speaker 8: that you can kind of throw.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Away in terms of play calling.
- 20:41Speaker 9: Yeah, sure, right now, at least the fourth quarter.
- 20:44Speaker 8: Their offense hasn't been as productive. I've been saying, like,
- 20:47Speaker 8: I have a lot of confidence in the Patriots offense
- 20:48Speaker 8: because I've seen them move the ball and score points
- 20:52Speaker 8: all year.
- 20:53Speaker 3: That hasn't really been the case in the playoffs.
- 20:55Speaker 8: They had two games where they really didn't move the
- 20:57Speaker 8: ball very well at all, in a third game that
- 20:59Speaker 8: it took a long time before.
- 21:00Speaker 3: They started moving in the Chargers game.
- 21:04Speaker 8: But you know, part of that is circumstantial with the
- 21:07Speaker 8: weather and in the opponents and whatnot. I don't necessarily
- 21:12Speaker 8: look at Josh McDaniels as this offensive guru that some
- 21:16Speaker 8: people make him out to me, But I thought that
- 21:18Speaker 8: email was really harsh.
- 21:19Speaker 3: The other way, Well, listen, you should you should be
- 21:22Speaker 3: on the blog.
- 21:23Speaker 6: Oh no, And I also wonder too, and maybe I
- 21:29Speaker 6: ask you guys where you fall on this. You know,
- 21:31Speaker 6: he The one thing that they didn't do a ton
- 21:33Speaker 6: of is run Drake by design. They would sprinkle it
- 21:37Speaker 6: in and maybe situationally, you know, the Buffalo games, the
- 21:39Speaker 6: second Buffalo game. He did it twice in the red zone,
- 21:42Speaker 6: he scored touchdowns. He obviously had the quarterback draw against
- 21:46Speaker 6: the Broncos in the AFC Championship game for a touchdown.
- 21:49Speaker 6: But it's been more situational and sprinkled in. But I
- 21:52Speaker 6: think a lot of that has to do with, you know,
- 21:54Speaker 6: longevity durability, Like, you know, they don't want to have
- 21:57Speaker 6: to go to that unless it's a high leverage situation
- 21:59Speaker 6: where they feel like they need to go to that.
- 22:02Speaker 6: I don't know if they necessarily want him to be
- 22:03Speaker 6: Lamar Jackson where he's running around, you know, carrying the
- 22:07Speaker 6: ball one hundred times a season. Yeah, So you know,
- 22:10Speaker 6: I think that's where the difference is. And when I
- 22:13Speaker 6: talked to McDaniels about it the other day, you know,
- 22:15Speaker 6: he brought up Cam Newton in his experience with Cam,
- 22:18Speaker 6: but he mentioned, you know, Cam Newton was two hundred
- 22:21Speaker 6: and fifty two hundred and sixty pounds, so you could
- 22:23Speaker 6: run Cam Newton like a running back and he had
- 22:25Speaker 6: the body to hold up. Josh Allen's kind of similar.
- 22:29Speaker 6: You know, Josh Allen's is a huge dude. You know,
- 22:31Speaker 6: he's two forty uh maybe two forty five. Drake may
- 22:35Speaker 6: is six four and a half to twenty five, you
- 22:38Speaker 6: know something like that. Certainly a big guy, but not
- 22:42Speaker 6: Cam Newton, Josh Allen big where you want him to run,
- 22:45Speaker 6: you know, by design as much as those guys.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Matt, Let's take a break. When we
- 22:50Speaker 2: come back. More calls, more emails, more guests on Patriot.

- 35:23Speaker 33: But yeah, the cheerleaders are always a good time, and
- 35:27Speaker 33: no one was really dancing, and I'm like, train is here, Like,
- 35:29Speaker 33: oh my god, you guys. So then I was like,
- 35:32Speaker 33: all right, if none of the content girls want to
- 35:34Speaker 33: hang and dance with me, I'm gonna go dance with
- 35:35Speaker 33: the cheerleaders. And then everyone, of course saw me doing this,
- 35:38Speaker 33: so then they came over. But yeah, we were in
- 35:40Speaker 33: the front row for train and it was literally caught
- 35:43Speaker 33: a pick. I got a guitar pick.
- 35:45Speaker 3: So what did you think when the governor of Massachusetts
- 35:48Speaker 3: sat down? So cool? Yeah, that was really cool.
- 35:50Speaker 33: Well, she followed me on Instagram two days ago, so
- 35:52Speaker 33: I was like, oh, she must be looking for me.
- 35:54Speaker 9: Oh wow, that was awesome.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Yeah, we did our pictures and you were like, can
- 35:59Speaker 3: I get in?
- 36:00Speaker 33: Ye have a whole like it was all you guys
- 36:04Speaker 33: have the whole.
- 36:05Speaker 3: That's that was great.
- 36:06Speaker 33: Sorry for inserting myself that we should be Oh.
- 36:11Speaker 3: No, absolutely all right.
- 36:12Speaker 2: So since you're here and I know you've got other
- 36:15Speaker 2: things to do, it's that time of the week. We
- 36:17Speaker 2: don't have music, okay, all right, all right, so we're
- 36:22Speaker 2: gonna do our picks. You know, we're not gonna wait
- 36:25Speaker 2: until the final few minutes because there we go back
- 36:30Speaker 2: at the ranch. Love love, You never know what's gonna happen.
- 36:34Speaker 2: So while we have this time, let's do our picks.
- 36:36Speaker 14: Ball.
- 36:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna do it real quick. I'll just tell you again.
- 36:39Speaker 8: You know, last week, Mike, Alex, myself, and Fred all
- 36:43Speaker 8: went too and oh. Evan went one and one with
- 36:47Speaker 8: the spread. Evan went oh and two and the rest
- 36:52Speaker 8: of the crew went one and one.
- 36:53Speaker 2: So and the what I lost was the Patriots playoffs.
- 36:58Speaker 8: Everybody went ten and two in the overall. That's pretty
- 37:01Speaker 8: good even so I won with this with the spread. Hey,
- 37:07Speaker 8: with the spread, Freddie fields eleven and one. I finished
- 37:14Speaker 8: second at seven and five, no finish finished. Everybody else
- 37:20Speaker 8: was six and six. Everybody else was six and six.
- 37:23Speaker 8: So obviously we have the Patriots in Seattle. We've talked
- 37:27Speaker 8: about this game a little bit over the last fifteen
- 37:30Speaker 8: hours time. Seattle is the favorite, as you all know,
- 37:35Speaker 8: But as Fred said earlier, this is not like the
- 37:38Speaker 8: two thousand and one Patriots against the Rams. We shocked
- 37:41Speaker 8: the world. We shocked the world to touchdown at a
- 37:43Speaker 8: Seattle is a modest four and a half point favorite,
- 37:47Speaker 8: four and a.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Half still solid favorite? Yes, a solid favorite.
- 37:52Speaker 7: So do I have to lead us off to maintain
- 37:54Speaker 7: the order, the integrity of the content the contest.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Sure?
- 37:57Speaker 7: Well, my confidence has been growing this week. I came
- 38:00Speaker 7: into this Super Bowl week feeling a little bit happy
- 38:04Speaker 7: to be here. Patriots already playing with house money. Seattle's
- 38:08Speaker 7: a very good team. This is gonna be a tough
- 38:09Speaker 7: game for them. But spending more time around the team,
- 38:12Speaker 7: you know, hearing there about their preparation, they feel very loose.
- 38:15Speaker 7: To me, they feel relaxed. I know Mike Reese pointed
- 38:18Speaker 7: out there a young team, but sometimes I think that
- 38:20Speaker 7: can be a good thing, because you don't know what
- 38:21Speaker 7: you don't know. And I believe that they are gonna
- 38:25Speaker 7: go out there and put together their best game of
- 38:27Speaker 7: the season. We're gonna see Drake May at an MVP
- 38:29Speaker 7: level and originally in the week my my score, I
- 38:32Speaker 7: leaned a little bit closer. I'm gonna expand the score
- 38:35Speaker 7: margin a little bit. I'm gonna go Patriots twenty seven,
- 38:38Speaker 7: Seahawks seventeen and Drake May. Okay, Drake May, Drake Drake
- 38:43Speaker 7: May May. May May is your Super Bowl MVP.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Wow? Okay, there we go, all right, Alex.
- 38:52Speaker 33: Yeah, I feel the same way as duce. I came
- 38:55Speaker 33: in nervous talk to former players, just listening to the
- 39:01Speaker 33: shows and stuff. I really think people are underrating us.
- 39:03Speaker 33: I think people that think it's gonna be a blowout.
- 39:05Speaker 33: I haven't watched a single Patriots game all year. Patriots
- 39:08Speaker 33: twenty seven, Seattle twenty three.
- 39:12Speaker 3: Wow. Okay, who's your rev.
- 39:16Speaker 18: Stephenson.
- 39:17Speaker 33: Okay, that's just I want it for the story, feel
- 39:22Speaker 33: good story.
- 39:22Speaker 7: Oh that is a feel good story. But also Drake
- 39:25Speaker 7: would be cool too. Maybe you know what for Alex?
- 39:27Speaker 7: For you, I'm gonna wear my I'm running out of
- 39:29Speaker 7: clothes by the way, everybody, I mean, I have maybe,
- 39:32Speaker 7: but I'm gonna wear I'll wear my Romandre Stevenson Angry
- 39:35Speaker 7: Runs T.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Shirt to the game. There we go, Devin.
- 39:40Speaker 6: I feel like all year long, the Patriots have been
- 39:44Speaker 6: in this spot, like where we keep waiting for this
- 39:47Speaker 6: talent gap to appear, where they're just overwhelmed by a
- 39:50Speaker 6: better team and they, hey, look maybe closer to the
- 39:53Speaker 6: team we all thought they were gonna be going in
- 39:55Speaker 6: instead of a team that was a super Bowl team.
- 39:57Speaker 6: And all year long, they've just been proving us wrong.
- 39:59Speaker 6: They winning this spot all year and I think they
- 40:03Speaker 6: keep it rolling. I don't know what it is, some
- 40:06Speaker 6: sort of mic Rabele magic dust that he has just
- 40:09Speaker 6: sprinkled all over this team and all over this organization.
- 40:12Speaker 3: I think it keeps going.
- 40:13Speaker 6: I do think it's gonna be a little bit more
- 40:14Speaker 6: of a grindy game, you know, a little bit more
- 40:17Speaker 6: of a defensive battle. So I'll go twenty to seventeen Patriots.
- 40:23Speaker 6: I think Drake may does win the MVP if this happens,
- 40:26Speaker 6: but a little dark horse MVP. I think Stefan Diggs
- 40:30Speaker 6: has a chance to have a dark horse MVP. It's
- 40:32Speaker 6: a guy that we haven't really talked a whole lot about,
- 40:35Speaker 6: and this is his first ever Super Bowl.
- 40:38Speaker 9: He's getting towards the end of his career.
- 40:39Speaker 6: He might not ever play in another one of these,
- 40:42Speaker 6: and it just seems like every time they played one
- 40:45Speaker 6: of these big marquee prime time you know, type of games,
- 40:49Speaker 6: whether it was in Buffalo or it was in Baltimore,
- 40:53Speaker 6: Diggs has a massive game and I think he's gonna
- 40:56Speaker 6: have a massive one on something.
- 40:57Speaker 8: Okay, all right, Okay, so I am gonna keep the
- 41:01Speaker 8: train and rolling here.
- 41:02Speaker 3: We're a bunch of homers. No, but there's a lot
- 41:04Speaker 3: of things we're.
- 41:05Speaker 33: Gonna be on a meme, a Seattle memes.
- 41:09Speaker 8: Patriots, a lot of things that that Evan said that
- 41:11Speaker 8: I really agree with, and uh, you know, not necessarily
- 41:14Speaker 8: anything x's and o's wise, but like the whole like
- 41:18Speaker 8: they've been sort of doubted so often, and I think
- 41:22Speaker 8: they've really used that to their advantage. Normally, I'm not
- 41:25Speaker 8: a big fan of all that crap, but this particular team,
- 41:28Speaker 8: much like in O one, I think there's some value
- 41:30Speaker 8: to it. And and that's where I think there is
- 41:32Speaker 8: some similarities to the one. I think the Patriots are
- 41:36Speaker 8: gonna find a way to just continue to find ways
- 41:39Speaker 8: to win, and they they're gonna get a lead, They're
- 41:41Speaker 8: gonna make Sam Donald chase Sam Donald's gonna make mistakes.
- 41:44Speaker 8: The Patriots are gonna win the game twenty seven twenty four,
- 41:48Speaker 8: and I.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Have Drake may as the MVP.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Also, yeah, okay, that number twenty seven keeps coming up,
- 41:56Speaker 2: you know the.
- 41:56Speaker 7: Semology for Yeah, that's probably anolex it is, and.
- 42:00Speaker 2: There's a reason, because that is the number that the
- 42:02Speaker 2: Patriots are going to score. They're going to score twenty
- 42:04Speaker 2: seven points. Now, they're not all going to be on offense.
- 42:10Speaker 3: He's gonna pick Seattle.
- 42:11Speaker 7: Seattle, but Seattle's gonna have forty five.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Seattle's going to end.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Up with eighteen, and they're eighteen isn't all going to
- 42:19Speaker 2: be on offense? And so because of that, and one
- 42:24Speaker 2: of the reasons why they're only going to score twelve
- 42:27Speaker 2: points on offense is because of Milton Williams.
- 42:30Speaker 3: And as I.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Said, Milton Williams is going to be your game MVP.
- 42:39Speaker 3: So there you go, twenty seven eighteen Patriots. I think
- 42:44Speaker 3: that's the store.
- 42:44Speaker 33: That's the score I did Monday Guys, that might be
- 42:46Speaker 33: a score. I feel good if Fred has the same
- 42:49Speaker 33: score as me from Monday night.
- 42:50Speaker 7: Can I put in a rank request?
- 42:52Speaker 4: Now?
- 42:52Speaker 6: If Milton Williams MVP, can we do.
- 42:57Speaker 7: A supercut of every time during these shows that Fred
- 43:00Speaker 7: has mentioned, because he's done it a lot, he keeps
- 43:02Speaker 7: going back to it guests, doesn't matter if Preed's been
- 43:05Speaker 7: all over this, If if mill Williams is the MVP,
- 43:07Speaker 7: I think we need a Fred super cut Milton Williams take.
- 43:10Speaker 8: And I don't know if you've noticed Deru, but I've
- 43:11Speaker 8: been around for a while and you haven't heard me
- 43:14Speaker 8: make fun of.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Him about it. You know why you don't?
- 43:16Speaker 7: You know?
- 43:17Speaker 8: Because He's gonna end up being right, and I'm not
- 43:19Speaker 8: gonna get made fun of im making fun of him.
- 43:22Speaker 33: We should honestly also make a cut of all the
- 43:24Speaker 33: times Fred, like early in the season, was talking about.
- 43:27Speaker 9: Us going in the super Bowl?
- 43:28Speaker 3: Was the screen?
- 43:29Speaker 33: I didn't you got on the train pretty early. I
- 43:32Speaker 33: don't know. I can't take credit on I can't take
- 43:38Speaker 33: credit exactly.
- 43:39Speaker 9: Not credit.
- 43:40Speaker 2: It's just, hey, the playoffs started, I was on board,
- 43:44Speaker 2: but not the I can't take credit for that.
- 43:47Speaker 7: More of a bit.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Yeah, if I was doing it, it was just like
- 43:53Speaker 2: to hype it up, but I didn't really really feel
- 43:56Speaker 2: it was going to happen until the playoffs started.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Oh, Cam Newton, we should get him, know, so that
- 44:01Speaker 3: would be but that's our picks. When's our picks?
- 44:03Speaker 6: When do we When did we all know? Is the
- 44:06Speaker 6: question that I feel like has been going around media, availability, god,
- 44:10Speaker 6: every player, everything. When did you know that this team
- 44:14Speaker 6: was special?
- 44:15Speaker 9: And you know, some people have had different answers.
- 44:17Speaker 6: It took some people a lot longer, Like the Baltimore
- 44:20Speaker 6: come back is one that a lot of people brought up.
- 44:22Speaker 6: A lot of people have just said Week five in Buffalo,
- 44:25Speaker 6: you know, beating Buffalo in Buffalo.
- 44:27Speaker 3: So that's when I knew they were good.
- 44:28Speaker 8: Yeah, when I thought that they could be better than
- 44:31Speaker 8: good was And this is a weird one.
- 44:33Speaker 3: The second Buffalo.
- 44:34Speaker 8: Game when everybody was kind of like, Okay, Buffalo's coming
- 44:38Speaker 8: to town. Now they're going to have revenge on their mind.
- 44:40Speaker 8: And the Patriots blistered them twenty one, nothing coming out
- 44:44Speaker 8: of the gate, and then you know, I understand they
- 44:46Speaker 8: weren't quite ready to win the game and they lost it.
- 44:47Speaker 8: But that was kind of the game that told me
- 44:49Speaker 8: this is not just a flash in the pan.
- 44:51Speaker 7: Can I highlight one other game? And I'm not necessarily
- 44:54Speaker 7: putting this in the pantheon because this team did fall
- 44:56Speaker 7: apart but I think the Tampa Bay game was a
- 44:58Speaker 7: big game at the time. Well we broke them, you know, right,
- 45:01Speaker 7: they were broken by I think they were were breaking
- 45:04Speaker 7: a little bit. But I do think that in that
- 45:05Speaker 7: game too. It just it felt like that was at
- 45:08Speaker 7: the time Baker Mayfield was still in the MVP kind
- 45:10Speaker 7: of conversation. Experienced team, some experienced defenders, and to go
- 45:14Speaker 7: down there and have a hard fought win, that was
- 45:17Speaker 7: another game that that stood out to me. I mean
- 45:19Speaker 7: a lot of the other games were you know, Tennessee,
- 45:20Speaker 7: those things, New Orleans, not not great competition, but I
- 45:23Speaker 7: thought the Tampa game said a lot about this team.
- 45:25Speaker 2: So I don't know if you guys remember, but after
- 45:28Speaker 2: the loss to Pittsburgh, you know, they had like five
- 45:31Speaker 2: turnovers or something like that, and our post game show,
- 45:35Speaker 2: do you remember me saying, you know what, after this game,
- 45:38Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not upset. This is the way this
- 45:42Speaker 2: game unfolded and the way it ended makes me want
- 45:45Speaker 2: to get out there even more because I like, I wanted,
- 45:49Speaker 2: like this is the kind of game that like, give
- 45:51Speaker 2: me another shot at this. I felt that I felt
- 45:54Speaker 2: after that game, this team isn't that bad like they
- 45:57Speaker 2: should have won this game. If we've played it again
- 46:01Speaker 2: right now, we would win. I really, I really felt
- 46:04Speaker 2: that way. So I guess I was getting indications that
- 46:07Speaker 2: this team was better than I thought they were going
- 46:10Speaker 2: to be. Not saying that they were going to be
- 46:12Speaker 2: a super Bowl but better because I said that it
- 46:15Speaker 2: was six game floor and a ten game ceiling for
- 46:19Speaker 2: this season. That was my pre season. But I think
- 46:22Speaker 2: after that Pittsburgh game, believe it or not, I said
- 46:25Speaker 2: this team is better than I think I thought it
- 46:27Speaker 2: was gonna be. So I'll take credit for that.
- 46:30Speaker 6: They kind of needed that Pittsburgh game as a lesson,
- 46:33Speaker 6: you know, they had to learn the hard way that
- 46:35Speaker 6: week that you turn the ball over like that and
- 46:37Speaker 6: you play sloppy, and you're gonna lose in this league,
- 46:41Speaker 6: especially against you know, the better teams. And ever since
- 46:44Speaker 6: that point, the turnovers and this kind of the sloppiness
- 46:48Speaker 6: just it completely went out the window, like they really
- 46:50Speaker 6: just learned their lesson and it never came back up again.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but I can't honestly say that during the season
- 46:56Speaker 2: I ever felt, oh, this is a super Bowl team. No,
- 47:00Speaker 2: you know, I know, And then to me is I
- 47:02Speaker 2: I mean, we talked a little bit about it, Like
- 47:03Speaker 2: I just I really wanted to get by the first
- 47:05Speaker 2: round of the playoffs.
- 47:06Speaker 7: I just didn't want to go one and done. And then,
- 47:09Speaker 7: you know, especially to a banged up Chargers team that
- 47:11Speaker 7: was limited, uh and what after that point, I felt like,
- 47:14Speaker 7: let's just let it rip, see what happens. And I
- 47:17Speaker 7: go back to this team just feels like a team
- 47:20Speaker 7: that's gonna come out And I could be totally wrong.
- 47:21Speaker 7: I could be totally wrong, but I think they're gonna
- 47:23Speaker 7: come out and play loose and play fast and play hard.
- 47:26Speaker 7: And I think it's such a big key to get
- 47:28Speaker 7: a lead on Seattle and to dictate how the game
- 47:31Speaker 7: is going to be played. Put the pressure on.
- 47:33Speaker 2: You know, people would come into my office, Oh, what
- 47:35Speaker 2: do you think we're gonna win this game? You're gonna
- 47:37Speaker 2: when we get to the playoffs, And I said, oh,
- 47:39Speaker 2: you know, we're gonna have a home game. Buffalo's gonna
- 47:42Speaker 2: uh win, and we're gonna end up playing Buffalo.
- 47:45Speaker 3: I said, no, they're not.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I said, I knew Buffalo was going to get knocked out,
- 47:49Speaker 2: and I knew we were going to end up in Denver.
- 47:51Speaker 9: I knew that they always play in Denver.
- 47:52Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know, even if Buffalo, but that was
- 47:57Speaker 3: part of my own.
- 47:58Speaker 2: If Buffalo and won would have switched, we would have
- 48:02Speaker 2: played site strength schedule.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so I knew that. I knew we were going
- 48:09Speaker 3: to Denver.
- 48:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I do wonder, you know, the fast and loose thing, deuce, Like,
- 48:14Speaker 6: I feel like the offense has been a little bit
- 48:16Speaker 6: tight in the playoffs and maybe a little bit jittery
- 48:19Speaker 6: in certain games, you know, especially the young guys and
- 48:22Speaker 6: Drake may this actually this definitely has the possibility that
- 48:27Speaker 6: that happens. Again, it's a super Bowl, but there's also
- 48:29Speaker 6: the possibility where it's like just go sling it. Like,
- 48:33Speaker 6: so if you lose but you go down firing, at
- 48:36Speaker 6: least you went down firing, you didn't go down being all.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Jittery and nervous about it.
- 48:41Speaker 6: It kind of reminds me ofbout one when Blood Cell
- 48:43Speaker 6: was on the sideline with Brady and was just like,
- 48:46Speaker 6: don't listen to that that yeah. Yeah, Like and that's
- 48:49Speaker 6: how I feel like Rabel's probably coaching them up this week,
- 48:52Speaker 6: is like you know whatever, man, Like if you if
- 48:56Speaker 6: you throw out there and you lose, we lose. But like,
- 48:58Speaker 6: let's not go out there and timid and be jewry
- 49:02Speaker 6: and be worried about the moment and all that kind
- 49:04Speaker 6: of stuff, because who cares, you know, Let's go try
- 49:07Speaker 6: to win this thing.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Yep.
- 49:08Speaker 2: All right, let's see what people on the hotline have
- 49:12Speaker 2: to say. Eight five, five past five hundred. Dennis is
- 49:15Speaker 2: in Boston. What's up, Dennis?
- 49:19Speaker 15: Hey, how's it going?
- 49:19Speaker 14: Guys?
- 49:20Speaker 3: Good?
- 49:22Speaker 15: Good. I just wanted to say, you know, a big fan,
- 49:24Speaker 15: been listening for a few years after the Brady era,
- 49:28Speaker 15: but I'm glad I found you, guys, and this has
- 49:30Speaker 15: been such a great week. It brought me back to
- 49:32Speaker 15: kind of like the old Big Show glen or Way era,
- 49:35Speaker 15: where you know they'd be there all week. I tell
- 49:38Speaker 15: you had some great guests. I mean to start the
- 49:41Speaker 15: week with Frank Caliendo. That guy was hilarious. I mean
- 49:44Speaker 15: I've heard him a trillion times at this point, but
- 49:46Speaker 15: it just never gets old. That must have been yea
- 49:48Speaker 15: very funny sitting there with him and Fred. I just
- 49:51Speaker 15: gotta say I got it. First of all, I got
- 49:53Speaker 15: a lot of bones to pick with Paul. I always
- 49:55Speaker 15: do it. Today is not the day for that, ill
- 49:58Speaker 15: I'll call it next week.
- 50:00Speaker 3: The bones go ahead, you take it.
- 50:01Speaker 8: How about one minor bone.
- 50:05Speaker 15: Let me give Fredi's props quick, Fred, with the interviews,
- 50:08Speaker 15: you do a great job, like with the question, just
- 50:11Speaker 15: NonStop with these people. I mean it's a very good you.
- 50:14Speaker 15: Just you do a great job.
- 50:15Speaker 3: I always think I stick at it, so thank you. No,
- 50:18Speaker 3: I think you do. I agree with Dennis.
- 50:19Speaker 8: I think you do a good job of getting the
- 50:21Speaker 8: people comfortable and then we sort of Yeah.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Actually I always feel like I could do better. But anyway,
- 50:29Speaker 3: thank you though, thank you.
- 50:31Speaker 15: Yeah, even if you know, if there's really nothing to
- 50:33Speaker 15: talk about with some of these people, which you know
- 50:35Speaker 15: is a bunch of different types, but you.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Sat down, I don't know who they were, and we
- 50:39Speaker 2: have here, Uh who is Bob check check?
- 50:43Speaker 7: I'm like, you know, there's a guy down here.
- 50:45Speaker 2: To Fred that was like, no, honestly, when Taylor from
- 50:50Speaker 2: Busting with the Boys sat down, yeah, like I knew, Okay,
- 50:53Speaker 2: I think that's the guy from Bust, But I don't
- 50:55Speaker 2: know his name. So I'm like looking at his name
- 50:58Speaker 2: tags and the credentials that gave us the name. I
- 51:03Speaker 2: don't want to make it obvious that like I'm reading
- 51:05Speaker 2: your name, don't.
- 51:08Speaker 3: You know? But so I got through that, but yeah,
- 51:11Speaker 3: I was like panicking a little bit. Yeah, and then.
- 51:15Speaker 2: It comes across great, all right, Yeah, what's the bun?
- 51:24Speaker 15: I mean many many, but you can't receive yourself a
- 51:27Speaker 15: little bit this week with the I mean, I just
- 51:30Speaker 15: over the last year. I just I love Belichick. Don't
- 51:32Speaker 15: get me wrong. I love Brave BWL and this has
- 51:34Speaker 15: been amazing, and I'm so glad that Craft rectified his mistake.
- 51:39Speaker 15: And I love Kraft too. I'm not saying anything bad
- 51:41Speaker 15: about him. He deserves to be in but I just
- 51:44Speaker 15: you know, I I don't love Paul's extreme negativity towards
- 51:47Speaker 15: Belichick and almost like I know you're gonna say, I'm
- 51:50Speaker 15: not giving him no credit, but it feels like you
- 51:52Speaker 15: kind of give no credit nowadays compared to Brady, because
- 51:55Speaker 15: I mean you look at Shula, he and Marino. He
- 51:57Speaker 15: didn't win one super Bowl with Marino. So is do
- 52:00Speaker 15: you know what I mean? A lot more? Okay? Well,
- 52:06Speaker 15: phone number one and number two is about the fans
- 52:11Speaker 15: always feeling so defensive, uh, you know, nationally and everything
- 52:15Speaker 15: Patriots fans it to me, it's just it comes back
- 52:18Speaker 15: to like spygate and the flake gate our favorite team
- 52:20Speaker 15: had such great success and just dominated everyone. We all
- 52:24Speaker 15: kind of felt great watching that for two decades, and
- 52:27Speaker 15: then it just kind of feels like the outside world
- 52:31Speaker 15: had such an attack on the Patriots that that's our team,
- 52:34Speaker 15: that's our favorite team to watch, and it just we
- 52:37Speaker 15: never kind of let that go. With Chris Mortenson reporting
- 52:40Speaker 15: the inaccurate information, with the flake gate initially and Spygate,
- 52:44Speaker 15: every team basically doing that same thing, but no one
- 52:47Speaker 15: really realizing what they were even talking about. It's just
- 52:50Speaker 15: that's kind of the impetus I think for all this,
- 52:52Speaker 15: and that's why Pats fans probably come off as sort
- 52:54Speaker 15: of negative or or you know, defensive, because these things.
- 52:58Speaker 15: They feel like their team didn't get proper credits true,
- 53:01Speaker 15: you know, the team that they love. And when you
- 53:03Speaker 15: talk about fans, it's not like it's you know, short
- 53:06Speaker 15: for fanatic. Really, it's not like a logical thing. It's
- 53:09Speaker 15: like a passionate, emotional kind of thing that he's saying.
- 53:12Speaker 15: Of course, so it's never gonna be The Patriots sort
- 53:16Speaker 15: of did get the short end of the stick for
- 53:18Speaker 15: a lot of things for how successful they truly are,
- 53:20Speaker 15: and I think fans think everyone should be.
- 53:23Speaker 2: More in awe of what happened, rather than have all
- 53:25Speaker 2: this you know, attacks on it.
- 53:28Speaker 3: All right, thanks Denis. That was well summer absolutely, even
- 53:31Speaker 3: I didn't have a rebuttal.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go to Francisco, North Carolina.
- 53:37Speaker 3: What's up Francisco.
- 53:39Speaker 34: What's going on?
- 53:40Speaker 3: Guys?
- 53:40Speaker 34: How I got doing good?
- 53:41Speaker 3: Good? All right?
- 53:45Speaker 35: So like it's kind of leasing what you know, he
- 53:48Speaker 35: was just saying about, you know, being defensive and everything.
- 53:52Speaker 35: So like as he's saying that, uh, you know, I
- 53:55Speaker 35: got off work and then I saw like like my
- 53:57Speaker 35: old Facebook memories and it's a lot of you know,
- 54:02Speaker 35: of why are we not getting our credit? Like you know,
- 54:05Speaker 35: when the James White scored the game when he touched
- 54:08Speaker 35: down spout because everyone's like, no.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Don't care.
- 54:10Speaker 35: He wasn't even across you can't even see the ball, dada,
- 54:12Speaker 35: And like, you know, I'm making posts like it's like,
- 54:14Speaker 35: you know, I'm I'm defending us like that. But like
- 54:17Speaker 35: with all this being said, is like like this is
- 54:19Speaker 35: like my first season as like a grown adult, like.
- 54:24Speaker 15: Thought, like it's memorable.
- 54:26Speaker 35: Like the last time we won a Super Bowl was
- 54:27Speaker 35: like May I was freshly like eighteen maybe, so it's
- 54:31Speaker 35: kind of it's kind of crazy being like, you know,
- 54:34Speaker 35: I've went through you know, I was a kid, we
- 54:36Speaker 35: won three that I didn't even know about, and then
- 54:39Speaker 35: you know, when I was in high school, middle school,
- 54:41Speaker 35: high school, and then you know, now this is my
- 54:44Speaker 35: most memorable season because I'm actually getting to experience it
- 54:47Speaker 35: like as a full fan. Like last year, my first
- 54:50Speaker 35: game I got to go to, well regular season game,
- 54:53Speaker 35: I got to go to wash I went to the
- 54:55Speaker 35: Tennessee game, you know, because it was close to North Carolina,
- 54:58Speaker 35: so I got this, you know, I got to see
- 54:59Speaker 35: this lose, but I got to see the last play
- 55:03Speaker 35: by you know, in regulation by Drake, you know, the
- 55:05Speaker 35: crazy scramble, and.
- 55:07Speaker 16: Then you know, we lost.
- 55:08Speaker 35: And then you know, I was ready to give up,
- 55:10Speaker 35: Like first game because I decided to go to my
- 55:12Speaker 35: first home game this year and went Week one to
- 55:14Speaker 35: see the Raiders. You know, I watched that, so you know,
- 55:17Speaker 35: I was ready to give up again. So it's crazy
- 55:19Speaker 35: how memorable the season's been for me and for everybody.
- 55:22Speaker 15: I feel like, you know.
- 55:23Speaker 3: So yep, all right, thanks for calling. Let's go to
- 55:28Speaker 3: Colleen in Houston. What's up, Colleen?
- 55:32Speaker 11: Phone game this year?
- 55:33Speaker 3: We're still listening to us Colleen's phone. What's up, Colleen?
- 55:39Speaker 36: Oh hello, Ry, Hello, thanks so much for taking my call.
- 55:44Speaker 36: Love you guys. First of all, this has been great.
- 55:47Speaker 36: Also love the twenty three talk has I While getting
- 55:52Speaker 36: my PhD, I got a twenty three tattoo because it
- 55:55Speaker 36: was like things are hard, but you can get through it.
- 55:59Speaker 36: So that's how my question is what would be considered
- 56:04Speaker 36: like a good defensive performance against JSN. So I was
- 56:10Speaker 36: thinking like, obviously, if we win, if he gets twelve
- 56:14Speaker 36: catches for one forty, who cares? But just in general,
- 56:18Speaker 36: what would be a good defensive performance to hold him too?
- 56:22Speaker 36: And then I have a random uh predictions that not
- 56:27Speaker 36: to step off Francisco's cost, but I think Marte Mapu
- 56:32Speaker 36: is gonna make a play random on special themes. Probably
- 56:37Speaker 36: I think he's gonna block a punt or force the
- 56:40Speaker 36: fumble or recover a fumble and h yeah, go pass
- 56:44Speaker 36: twenty threat.
- 56:45Speaker 7: Hey Colleen, real quick? Did you just get the twenty
- 56:48Speaker 7: to three number or did you get like the full
- 56:49Speaker 7: scoreboard tattoo?
- 56:52Speaker 3: Oh?
- 56:53Speaker 36: Just a number? I'm sorry, I like.
- 56:58Speaker 7: Right, I was just looking for you know, so he
- 57:00Speaker 7: wanted to kick that. I ha a little kick back now, No,
- 57:02Speaker 7: that's really cool though. I felt the same way about that.
- 57:05Speaker 7: Just the numbers.
- 57:06Speaker 3: What would you say for Jase thanks sixty five?
- 57:10Speaker 8: Hold him under seventy five yards?
- 57:12Speaker 6: I was going to say anything under one hundred, honestly, like,
- 57:15Speaker 6: because the average is about one hundred yards.
- 57:16Speaker 3: Yeah, just give me the context.
- 57:18Speaker 6: I mean, that's why I'm saying yards, Like, yeah, almost
- 57:21Speaker 6: eighteen hundred yards in the regular season.
- 57:23Speaker 7: So by I think eighteen seventeen one hundred.
- 57:26Speaker 6: Yeah, so if you have anything under seventy five is
- 57:30Speaker 6: your You're golden?
- 57:31Speaker 8: You know, I think that would be a really good performance. Yeah,
- 57:34Speaker 8: seventy five yees do you have unless it was like
- 57:37Speaker 8: in three touchdowns?
- 57:38Speaker 3: What about Jake Bow?
- 57:39Speaker 8: Yeah, like it'll be got like eight for seventy five
- 57:42Speaker 8: and three touchdowns.
- 57:43Speaker 3: That's not a good drive.
- 57:44Speaker 7: Yeah, right, Are you worried though a little bit? And
- 57:46Speaker 7: I'm kind of joking but not really of like the
- 57:48Speaker 7: random Jake Bobo catch, you know, like like remember I
- 57:52Speaker 7: forget she's the guests that putting together somebody brought up
- 57:54Speaker 7: Chris Matthews. Yeah, you know the random guy who Yeah,
- 57:57Speaker 7: they do a good job on you know, Barner and
- 57:59Speaker 7: Jay s n and then all of a sudden, Jake
- 58:01Speaker 7: Bobo like squirts out the way it is with the Patriots,
- 58:06Speaker 7: you know, well, I mean i'd say, I'd say the
- 58:09Speaker 7: production on the Seahawks is going to come from probably
- 58:11Speaker 7: basically four guys.
- 58:13Speaker 8: The Patriots equivalent to that would be, I mean, just Chisholm. Really,
- 58:18Speaker 8: he's like chism have like three catches.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but like if if if if the game changing
- 58:25Speaker 2: catches Pop Douglas, where did that come from?
- 58:29Speaker 8: But see, I don't know, I mean I wouldn't necessarily
- 58:32Speaker 8: bet on that, but there have been games that he's
- 58:34Speaker 8: made the game changing catch this year. Yeah, like that
- 58:38Speaker 8: Bobo had like one catch all year touchdown.
- 58:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I don't know if it's going to
- 58:45Speaker 6: be Bobo necessarily, But like I I have had in
- 58:48Speaker 6: the back of my head about Shaheed, like she heat
- 58:51Speaker 6: is a threat to score anywhere on the field, Like
- 58:55Speaker 6: there's just it. All it takes is one play where
- 58:57Speaker 6: he gets behind the defense or you know, beat somebody.
- 58:59Speaker 9: On the eye side on a go route one on one.
- 59:01Speaker 3: And something like that.
- 59:03Speaker 6: And so I think that that's the guy that if
- 59:05Speaker 6: there's that the guy that could make that one game
- 59:07Speaker 6: changing play and i'd added in his special teams, you know,
- 59:10Speaker 6: him returning the football to U end around return, deep
- 59:15Speaker 6: bomb some you know, one of those types of plays.
- 59:18Speaker 6: It's gonna it feels like it would be Shaheed Shannis
- 59:21Speaker 6: Schenectady has an issue with Evan. He says he's wrong
- 59:25Speaker 6: about the MVP voting. He said the MVP voting in
- 59:29Speaker 6: points system is different than what he said. Voters list
- 59:32Speaker 6: their top five choices and in order each of those
- 59:35Speaker 6: places it's worth ten, five, three, two and one.
- 59:39Speaker 3: One vote could have swayed it.
- 59:41Speaker 9: If I'll have to look that up.
- 59:43Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 59:43Speaker 9: I don't I'd have to.
- 59:45Speaker 3: It's funny. I thought it was five, and then what
- 59:47Speaker 3: Evan said three, I.
- 59:48Speaker 6: Go, well, even if it was even if it was
- 59:50Speaker 6: three versus five, the number.
- 59:54Speaker 8: There's people always make the mistake of not subtracting the points, right, yeah, yeah,
- 59:58Speaker 8: so whatever, you know, like when ever the second place
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: point totally like you have to take that away and
- 1:00:03Speaker 8: then add.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: A first place.
- 1:00:05Speaker 9: Maybe the three is how they score the All pro teams.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:00:09Speaker 9: I thought it was the same as the All pro teams.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: Maybe it's okay.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Let's see. Porter has a game management question for Paul
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: you Go. Years ago, everyone ripped Kyle Shanahan for taking
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: the ball first and overtime. It was justified in that
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: case because the forty nine ers didn't seem like they
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: knew the new rules and didn't have a plan, and
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: they had Mahomes on the other side of the ball. However,
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: in both of the playoff overtime games this year, the
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: game was decided on the third possession of overtime. So,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: if this is a defensive battle in the Super Bowl,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: would there be a scenario where you would want the
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: ball first and try to maximize your possessions rather than
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: taking a second and knowing what you need after the
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: other team's first possession.
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: Yeah, it's a good question. I would go second because
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: I like to know what I need. This is like
- 1:00:59Speaker 8: I'm kind of nerding out a little bit. You know,
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: the analytics. I think the more information you have, I
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: think that helps you. So in my view, the drawback
- 1:01:11Speaker 8: of going first is it can potentially take away your aggressiveness.
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: If you have a fourth and two from the twenty
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: yard line, maybe you go for it, maybe you don't.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: But that's a huge call.
- 1:01:24Speaker 8: Whereas if I know the other team scored, I have
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: to go for it, right, and I think having four
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: downs to move the ball.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Is an advantage, you know what I mean.
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: Yeah, So if the other team goes first and get
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: a touchdown, there's no sense of me, I'm not gonna
- 1:01:38Speaker 8: punt and.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: I have to go for and four.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: And it's like you said, knowing it so like when
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: I'm on my second and third down, I know that
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: I can I can play call for four downs.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, yeah, I agree. Yeah, I think that.
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: Really you kind of almost are in a position there
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: if you go first, you possess the ball first, where
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: you're probably punting on fourth down, like I don't think
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: you're gonna if you don't get it, and then you're
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: literally turning it over and field goal range that the
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: game is over, so you kind of have to punt
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: it at that point.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: I don't really know why the game is timed, and
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: I talked about that so.
- 1:02:15Speaker 8: At that point and we don't have a definitive answer
- 1:02:18Speaker 8: to it, well, I just think it's is it just
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: for book keeping?
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: No? No, oh, somebody had a good answer for it.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: They time it, you know, in quarters because there could
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: be a win situation. There could be a weather situation
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: where going one side of the field is an advantage, So.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: They want to have a period where you have to switch.
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, yeah, I guess that makes sense. I
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: just you know, I don't know, I feel like it.
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: We're basically doing a like a bigger version of the
- 1:02:48Speaker 6: college style over time, where instead of starting at like
- 1:02:51Speaker 6: the forty or whatever it is in college, you're kicking off.
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: But it's essentially the same idea that each team is
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: gonna get a chance to match, and they don't keep time.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 1:03:01Speaker 8: No, there was no time again much overtime.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Yeah, another run. I did look that up for the moment.
- 1:03:12Speaker 9: Thanks, all right, don't take home a dog the dogs
- 1:03:18Speaker 9: for me.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: I missed mine. I need a dog fixed. I know.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: I see that the working dogs around the hotel, and
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: I want to pet it, but you can't.
- 1:03:27Speaker 9: It's very tough.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I was gonna go and pet kirk Herbstreet's dog, but
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I didn't want to give it the attention attention.
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: You know who gave it too much attention was our
- 1:03:35Speaker 7: friend Sophie Weller. Oh no, he's pretty good. He's a
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: pretty good now. I said everything to her face, but
- 1:03:41Speaker 7: she was She's down on the ground rolling around with
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: the dog. What is she doing?
- 1:03:45Speaker 9: She also got attacked by a pop tart.
- 1:03:46Speaker 7: Got attacked by a pop tart. Not a great not
- 1:03:48Speaker 7: a great week for Sophie so far.
- 1:03:50Speaker 8: But no, I just put then if you're just putting
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: the votings.
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: Making sure the secure voting is now correct.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say.
- 1:04:01Speaker 9: I was literally just about to say that.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: In a mayonnaise jar. Kendall's in North Carolina. What's up, Kendall, Kendall, Nope,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: you're gone. Bill's in Virginia. What's up Bill?
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Bill? I'm going to talk to you either, all.
- 1:04:24Speaker 8: Right, Freddy's getting salty late.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: Bill and Virginia wrote in because he kind of gave up.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: So here's his email without mentioning the record. What's a
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: preseason take you had completely wrong? Such as Marcus Jones
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: not making the team to being a captain and getting extended.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, he's just making it.
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: If I can make a recommendation for you guys, I'd
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: suggest having someone go back in time stamp this week's podcast.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: That way, viewers can go back and scan which guests
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: are brought on at what time. When going back to
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: ketch up on the show, Phil Perry, do you remember.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: A preseason or off season predictions.
- 1:05:06Speaker 8: So I'm trying to just not think of like the record,
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: because that's obviously the thing that I was so far
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: off I was.
- 1:05:12Speaker 7: I was thinking a little bit about the depth. I
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: think that that some of the depth was better. I
- 1:05:16Speaker 7: don't think it was amazing or great, and they didn't
- 1:05:19Speaker 7: really find a gem. But I think that guys like
- 1:05:22Speaker 7: Jack Gibbons, you know, Corey Durden, some of the some
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: of the pieces that have been thrust into bigger roles
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: have performed pretty well.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: I mean, I think there's probably a million. I just
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: don't really remember them off the top, And I'm.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Trying to think.
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: I'm trying to think of things that aren't necessarily tied
- 1:05:39Speaker 8: to the record. Probably the thing I'm on the furthest
- 1:05:44Speaker 8: off on is Drake May. Like I I didn't see
- 1:05:48Speaker 8: this coming. I thought I kept saying all off season,
- 1:05:52Speaker 8: you know, if he makes this meteoric rise. But obviously
- 1:05:55Speaker 8: I wasn't anticipating it, or I would have picked more
- 1:05:57Speaker 8: than you know, seven or eight wins like everybody else.
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: So if you had told me before the season that
- 1:06:06Speaker 8: he was going to be an MVP candidate. I would
- 1:06:09Speaker 8: have said, there's no way he's going to be an
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: MVP candidate. Even after the Buffalo game, I think people
- 1:06:13Speaker 8: started talking about him an MVP and I was like,
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: come on, it's a little early for that. So that's
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: probably the thing I was the most wrong on.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: I have one.
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: I think the other thing I was probably most wrong
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: on is we were talking when they signed Milton Williams
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: about him potentially being you know, that's a good one
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: Dallas Thomas of that Eagles defense or something like that,
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: where you know it's the product of everybody else and
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: not him, and he turns out that he's just as
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: good of a player.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: I would say that was wrong on that too.
- 1:06:39Speaker 31: Yeah.
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: I mean, he's definitely against the run and the pass,
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: you know, which was really another question mark people had
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: was whether or not he was going to be well
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: rounded enough to play every down because he didn't do
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: that in Philadelphia. He is definitely exceeded expectations for a
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: guy that was the highest paid free agent, and in
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: the off.
- 1:06:57Speaker 7: Season digs too. I think I maybe I think I
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: was cautiously optimistic.
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: I think I think I actually nailed Dicks. Yeah, I said,
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: like one hundred catches for a thousand yards, and he
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: didn't have that many catches, but he was like right
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: out a thousand yards.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: I remember saying, you know, remember, folks with this many
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: free agents, they're not all going to work out, right.
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: That's a good one.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: We'll be lucky if half of them work out.
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and they all hit.
- 1:07:22Speaker 6: I do wonder if some of them not to be
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: like Debbie Downer. But you know, how do those all
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: those contracts. Age is going to really start to determine
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: the next you know.
- 1:07:32Speaker 8: That's that's why Mike Dussau's off season is so important
- 1:07:35Speaker 8: because you have to you have to safeguard against that out.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to know that some of.
- 1:07:40Speaker 9: Those guys that did dress X last.
- 1:07:42Speaker 8: Year, Like you think Mogan Moses is playing seventeen.
- 1:07:45Speaker 7: Games again, exactly what I was.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Just think. Carlton Davis is playing seventeen games again.
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: Guy was in and out of the lineup seventeen times.
- 1:07:51Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: Carlon Davis gets dinged up early in the game, leaves
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: the game and it's mad and then it is good.
- 1:07:58Speaker 8: But to drive his career, it's been missing four games
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: every year this year, I don't think he missed one.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Right, Yep, I don't think so.
- 1:08:05Speaker 8: Yeah, that's why, like, you know, this is not the time,
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: but we'll do this in the offseason, Mike and I
- 1:08:10Speaker 8: will go back and forth on the whole depth debate
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: because I think the depth wasn't really tested because they
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: didn't really get a lot of injuries.
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: Well, I think if you had told me that Harold
- 1:08:19Speaker 7: Landry was going to be fighting through an injury and
- 1:08:21Speaker 7: in and out of the field and really unproductive, that
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: Robert Splane coming down the stretch into the playoffs was
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: going to be gone, and I mean really just those
- 1:08:28Speaker 7: two pieces, for me, I would have said, that's that's
- 1:08:31Speaker 7: that's probably gonna be tough for them. I didn't anticipate
- 1:08:33Speaker 7: this from Chase on too. So there's all the other
- 1:08:36Speaker 7: elements of it. And I get what you're saying. I'm
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: not telling you that. You know, they found Tom Brady
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: this season, but I thought that they did well enough
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: that they kept winning games.
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: Yeah, I think when they were missing guys, the performance
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: dramatically changed. And you know in the Buffalo game, in
- 1:08:51Speaker 8: the Cincinnati game, in the Baltimore game, that they looked
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: totally different without Milton Williams.
- 1:08:57Speaker 7: Yeah, no question.
- 1:08:58Speaker 8: Now they were able to win couple of the games
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: because Borrow didn't play against Cincinnati and because for some reason,
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: John Harbaugh decided to stop playing Derek Hennray in the
- 1:09:05Speaker 8: fourth quarter. They easily could have gone all with three
- 1:09:08Speaker 8: in that stretch. Yeah, easily. But but I mean because
- 1:09:13Speaker 8: of the injuries, like because of the Milton Williams.
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: But in Baltimore, Drake may also put the Superman cape
- 1:09:18Speaker 6: on in the fourth quarter and and made a no.
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: I know, but would you agree that, like, you know, yeah,
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: another scoring drive by Baltimore and you lose.
- 1:09:28Speaker 9: It was a huge part of the games. But you
- 1:09:29Speaker 9: know that touchdown pass.
- 1:09:31Speaker 8: And by the way, and by the way, Lamar Jackson
- 1:09:33Speaker 8: also got hurt in that game in the second quarter,
- 1:09:35Speaker 8: like they Yeah, another words there. For what I would
- 1:09:38Speaker 8: say is they were able to win the games. But
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: I don't think that they were not affected by you know,
- 1:09:44Speaker 8: I think the depth was not strong, and I think
- 1:09:46Speaker 8: that's the number one thing they need to I.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: Guess I just got to get more good players.
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: I just look at the wins. I just look at
- 1:09:52Speaker 7: how they won games. That's the one game all anyone
- 1:09:54Speaker 7: cares no matter who was in or out, they continued
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: to win and find different ways to win. And you know,
- 1:09:58Speaker 7: maybe it's less less a testament Paul to the to
- 1:10:01Speaker 7: the depth and more a contestament to the culture.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: Like and I would I would say, like looking at that, so.
- 1:10:07Speaker 8: We would have put like four or five guys in
- 1:10:09Speaker 8: the very very important category before the year, like can't
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: lose this guy, can't lose that. Drake Maye didn't miss
- 1:10:14Speaker 8: any time, right, Christian Gonzales missed three games, they went
- 1:10:17Speaker 8: one and two. You know, Bill Williams missed four or
- 1:10:23Speaker 8: five games, and all of a sudden they allowed one
- 1:10:24Speaker 8: hundred yards rushing in every one of the games that
- 1:10:26Speaker 8: he was out.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: I believe they're like those were full of.
- 1:10:28Speaker 8: Guys they couldn't afford to lose, you know what I mean.
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I think they're undefeated when Milton Williams and Christian
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: Gonzales play, When both those guys have been on the field,
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: they haven't lost a game.
- 1:10:39Speaker 7: But if it's important, I mean, it's interesting.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: I think I think it's pretty important. But I think
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: that side of this meet the one in depth area.
- 1:10:47Speaker 6: Like if you had told me that Viderian Lowe was
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: going to have to play for four games and actually
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: play a serviceable left tackle and those four games I
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: would have been like that, that doesn't sound look.
- 1:10:58Speaker 8: I would agree that would be one of the guys
- 1:10:59Speaker 8: that we talked about it and they were able to
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: get by.
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: Yeah, Ben Brown a couple of spots night for Jaredy
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: inclusion of Jack Gibbons, I think is a good one too.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: I think Gibson Gibbons played well. Yep, agreed.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see, Roomy writes in I live in Stockton, California,
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: which is about one and a half hours from the
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: fan rally event. My husband and I have been Patriots
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: fans for a long time. Love to understand more about
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: the event, like is there a line any sneak peek
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: on who might be the alumni coming to the event? Well,
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: I think Roomy's talking about the one tomorrow, although he
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: says there's two of them actually, so I don't know
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: if he's talking about the one today or tomorrow. The
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: one today is from four to seven at Underdog's Cantina,
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: and that that's that's.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: Not the one with all axes right, all access is.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Tomorrow, Yes, tomorrow, So I'm sure there'll be alumni there.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: I'm not sure like who's gonna be there though, but
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: they'll be cheerleaders and I'll bet you that a line is.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: Going to form. I'll bet you it's is.
- 1:12:02Speaker 7: Starting.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Yeah, So I'm sure not everyone's going to be able
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: to get in. So if you haven't headed out for
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: that one yet, I would say you probably want to
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: skip it.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: Tomorrow. Yeah. Tomorrow's is that Splash Sports Bar.
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: You do what you want on your time.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Splash Sports Bar in San Francisco. That's from three to
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: six tomorrow, and that's the one Paul will be at,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Mike Griese will be at, they'll be filming All Access.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: I'm sure there'll be other Patriots alumni there. Scott Zolak
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: will be there. Yeah, there'll be some other celebrities there.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: I'm sure too, So Evan, you might have better chances. Yeah,
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: going to Splash Sports Bar tomorrow.
- 1:12:38Speaker 8: Trying to get to come, but I think.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: Alcatraz No, I do kind of want to go to.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: I was hoping did you get tickets for that? Now
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: we have?
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: I just checked. You're out of lucktant now they're still available?
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Are they really? Yeah? Okay, I thought they.
- 1:12:53Speaker 7: I would think I thought they would sell out on
- 1:12:54Speaker 7: Super Bowl Week two. Yeah, based on what Evan told
- 1:12:57Speaker 7: me earlier today. But I just checked about half hour going.
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: That's a that's Cosblay Perry's fault that we didn't go
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: last year.
- 1:13:04Speaker 8: Was that your Perry, Let's say, but over there he O'Neil.
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: Last year when we came to San Francisco and for
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: Patriots forty nine ers, we all were like, yeah, Alcatraz.
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: Like weeks in advance, We're like, we're doing Alcatraz. We're
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: doing Alcatraz, and the week's coming. We all thought that
- 1:13:20Speaker 6: Neil had bought the ticket, and then the trip comes
- 1:13:25Speaker 6: and we're like, yeah, we got tickets to Alcatraz, right,
- 1:13:27Speaker 6: and he just looks at us and he's like, no, yo,
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: all right, let's.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: Take a quick break.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: We're coming to our final segment here on Patriot's Unfiltered,

- 1:21:05Speaker 8: Letting you see what we've seen all week, A peak
- 1:21:08Speaker 8: behind the curtain Garcia.
- 1:21:10Speaker 9: Oh, it's yeah, there.
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: He is, there he is.
- 1:21:14Speaker 7: That's when they got him off.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: That's not me, that's speaking truth. That's an empty suit.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: We had Felger on today.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: Party Walsh, the old Mayor, the Irish NFL show Ireland.
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: Yeah, well you know what I'm noticing, guys, is this
- 1:21:34Speaker 7: that Malcolm Butler? Right now? This has the feel around
- 1:21:37Speaker 7: here of the Combine on Friday, where it's like the
- 1:21:39Speaker 7: party is leaving town.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: You ain't got to go home. And usually the.
- 1:21:43Speaker 7: Combine it ends on Friday and your Saturday and you
- 1:21:46Speaker 7: know it's it's just over and that's the end. But
- 1:21:48Speaker 7: now it's like it's not over. It's the biggest part.
- 1:21:51Speaker 7: Now can can arrive where we've wrapped up the week
- 1:21:54Speaker 7: on Radio Row and now it's time for Super Bowl six.
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: You're gonna get ready. We've got another day though.
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: After actually, you know, focus on the actual football, not
- 1:22:02Speaker 6: the nonsense, thank you, thank you.
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: Maybe instead of the ball. No, Evan, I need to
- 1:22:07Speaker 7: make you just I'll bring it back to football, like
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: bring it back to football, Like.
- 1:22:10Speaker 6: Well, that's my favorite part about that all of these
- 1:22:13Speaker 6: you know, people that are here to like, I don't know,
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: promote whatever. I don't want to name something because we
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: might get us in trouble to promote something or whatever
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: they at. And now we can actually like go to
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: the football game and talk about the football game, which
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: is what we all came here for.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: Thank you very much.
- 1:22:28Speaker 7: Maybe that could be a bit Fred, if we ever
- 1:22:29Speaker 7: make about the Super Bowl, you could make the rounds
- 1:22:31Speaker 7: trying to sell soap with the slot to try to
- 1:22:33Speaker 7: get on See how many shows?
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Man? I'll be the handler? No excuse me?
- 1:22:40Speaker 8: Would would you like to talk to Fred Tursch about
- 1:22:42Speaker 8: his innovative soap with the slot?
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: Right? What I try? I can get treated like I
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: treated some of the other No, we're good, we're good.
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: Move it along. Let's go to the foes porters in Minnesota.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: What's up porter here? They should be a direc Okay, good, good?
- 1:23:04Speaker 15: I got a question for Paul.
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: Oh, what's up? My man brought us up?
- 1:23:09Speaker 15: Uh So. A few years ago, everyone ripped Kyle Shanahan
- 1:23:13Speaker 15: for taking the ball first in overtime. I think it
- 1:23:16Speaker 15: was justified in that case because the forty nine ers.
- 1:23:18Speaker 34: Didn't seem like they knew what they were doing and
- 1:23:20Speaker 34: didn't seem like they knew about the new rule.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: I think I think we read your porter.
- 1:23:25Speaker 8: Did send an email on Yeah, we read we read
- 1:23:27Speaker 8: an email, read your email. I would still say, yeah,
- 1:23:31Speaker 8: I would still say that I would take I would
- 1:23:34Speaker 8: take the ball second. And he deserves to get criticized
- 1:23:37Speaker 8: because he didn't know the rules, Like he wasn't really
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: aware of the strategy, and you should be. That's part
- 1:23:43Speaker 8: of that's part of your job as a coach.
- 1:23:45Speaker 6: I wonder if because they got to defend my guy
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: a little bit, like did he not know the rule
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: or did his nerds just steer him wrong and they
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: said this was the better way to go. And I'm
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: not saying that it was the right decision. I'm just saying,
- 1:23:56Speaker 6: did he not really not think that he has since
- 1:23:59Speaker 6: taking the ball second in overtime?
- 1:24:01Speaker 29: Right?
- 1:24:01Speaker 6: But doesn't that might have changed his philosophy? But like,
- 1:24:04Speaker 6: did they go into that game and say we think
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: that this is the best strategy?
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: Like saying that he didn't know the rule is a
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: little strong, but I I think he.
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: Got caught with his pants down. Yeah, that's not good
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: I do. I think he got caught.
- 1:24:18Speaker 6: You know, he's a great offensive play designer. I never
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: said he was a good game manager. A right, we
- 1:24:22Speaker 6: know that's not the part of the game that I
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: really you know, get a stretch, Yeah, yeah, exactly, get
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: a stretch, well stretch. Why Stretch went to LA with
- 1:24:30Speaker 6: the Rams was because Sean McVay has notoriously not been
- 1:24:33Speaker 6: great at managing games.
- 1:24:35Speaker 8: Which I don't really understand how guys that think the
- 1:24:38Speaker 8: game at the level that those both of those guys
- 1:24:40Speaker 8: do mc and Shanahan. I mean, they're probably as instrumental
- 1:24:44Speaker 8: in half of the league's offenses right now, they directly
- 1:24:50Speaker 8: have a have a relationship with half of the league,
- 1:24:53Speaker 8: and they can't necessarily figure out game management strategy.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: I think it's because.
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: Block and yeah, situation, they're they're so trained in x's
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: and o's, and like it's a different part of the brain,
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: like you're much like I don't really I defer to
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: you and all this stuff because it's not my like specialty.
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: I like, it's just different.
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: It's a different way of thinking about the game than
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: thinking about the schematics of it.
- 1:25:17Speaker 8: So, but here's the thing, and I don't know. Maybe
- 1:25:19Speaker 8: I'm simplifying oversimplifying it a little bit. I do find
- 1:25:24Speaker 8: those situations interesting, you know, at the end of games,
- 1:25:26Speaker 8: timeouts and what not. But I would think, and I
- 1:25:30Speaker 8: know Mike Vrabel does this, because I've heard him mention
- 1:25:33Speaker 8: two or three different very specific examples this season, there
- 1:25:38Speaker 8: should be like research done and you say, if I
- 1:25:42Speaker 8: need to get my field goal unit on the field
- 1:25:45Speaker 8: on the fly, I need X amount of seconds minimum.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: Uh, if I need to.
- 1:25:50Speaker 8: You know, do X, Y and z. There's there's a
- 1:25:53Speaker 8: certain number that they know, and I think it's like
- 1:25:56Speaker 8: seventeen seconds or something like that or whatever. But you
- 1:25:59Speaker 8: do this over and oh you you drill it and
- 1:26:02Speaker 8: you realize where it comes to point where you know
- 1:26:06Speaker 8: it by rope. Like, it shouldn't be like should I
- 1:26:08Speaker 8: take a time out here? No, there's twenty nine seconds left,
- 1:26:10Speaker 8: I have two timeouts left. If I'm inbounds here, I
- 1:26:13Speaker 8: don't have to take the time out, or I do
- 1:26:15Speaker 8: have to take the timeout if I want X amount
- 1:26:16Speaker 8: of place. It shouldn't necessarily be a variable. Yeah, JA like,
- 1:26:22Speaker 8: and I would think if you were a professional coach,
- 1:26:24Speaker 8: I don't know all of those but if you if
- 1:26:26Speaker 8: I were a professional like Andy Reid, I could never
- 1:26:29Speaker 8: understand how it was so hard from study it.
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: Well, I think that that's what's interesting about Stretch is that, like,
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: and I think Brabel has that acumen on his own right,
- 1:26:38Speaker 6: but they they're on it, but it's so clear that
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: they have those exact conversations of if this, if X happens,
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: we're gonna do why, and they have this all of
- 1:26:49Speaker 6: it all mapped out depending on the situation in the scenarios,
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: and it just shows stretches value. And I think every
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: team you know, Kyle Shanahan, if he could you know,
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: I obviously Stretches don't grow on trees Like I'm he's
- 1:27:00Speaker 6: a very good dab what he does. But if you
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: could find somebody that's an equivalent, like, how beneficial that
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: would be for somebody like Kyle Shanahan to have someone
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: that is that. You know, they they don't do it.
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: It feels like they don't do anything. And in that
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: bin until Stretch comes over there the headset and says,
- 1:27:19Speaker 6: let's challenge this or you know whatever. They it's all him,
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: you know, he's all up top doing all of it.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: All right, let's go back to the phones. Eldred, Eldred,
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: what's going on? He says, Hell, yeah, is.
- 1:27:36Speaker 34: About kind of Hey, all right, My problem is I
- 1:27:43Speaker 34: had one of my favorite heroes just that he don't
- 1:27:45Speaker 34: have a dog in a fight.
- 1:27:46Speaker 12: And I don't know how to react to that.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: I hear you. How does it make you feel? How
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: does that make you feel?
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: How do we feel about Tom Brady pissed?
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: Yeah, let it out.
- 1:28:00Speaker 12: Because I like that thing we said. I'm a patriot
- 1:28:03Speaker 12: for life.
- 1:28:04Speaker 15: I know you are part owner of the Raiders.
- 1:28:06Speaker 12: I know you Gotcludiac for the Seattle's gonna be your
- 1:28:09Speaker 12: head coach. But you could have just declined a little bit,
- 1:28:12Speaker 12: said well, you know, I got two dogs in a fight.
- 1:28:14Speaker 34: Maybe, And I can't say it even though.
- 1:28:16Speaker 12: I got twenty five years with this scene and Josh
- 1:28:19Speaker 12: and Bravery we were teammates and whatever, but you these
- 1:28:22Speaker 12: could have came out that way.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: Brady.
- 1:28:25Speaker 12: You know I always go down to you.
- 1:28:27Speaker 35: But right now, what are you doing?
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: Brady? Running again? Yeah? The kid? Whatever?
- 1:28:36Speaker 34: But my thing is if we can uh.
- 1:28:39Speaker 12: I know about my jazz n kids only target they got,
- 1:28:43Speaker 12: but you can't come a walker one on one with
- 1:28:45Speaker 12: one linebacker. I did in the flat and the tide
- 1:28:49Speaker 12: end and that on that left side.
- 1:28:51Speaker 15: Of our line.
- 1:28:51Speaker 12: I wish they would start brown instead of well, I
- 1:28:55Speaker 12: wish they would do that, but uh, how y'all feel
- 1:28:58Speaker 12: about it? And I take it off the air.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:29:00Speaker 8: Thanks Aldred, Thanks thanks Aldrid.
- 1:29:04Speaker 7: I I guess I would say, I'm I'm it sounds weird.
- 1:29:08Speaker 7: I'm surprised that this has caused such a firestorm. I
- 1:29:10Speaker 7: guess that's stupid to say. I mean, it shouldn't be
- 1:29:12Speaker 7: because what Brady, what Brady saw?
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: Oh you know, sorry, I bet you were going on
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: the offensive line.
- 1:29:17Speaker 7: Oh sorry, we were on that.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: No, Eldred was.
- 1:29:21Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm not surprised.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: It was an odd thing.
- 1:29:26Speaker 6: He continues to distance himself from from the Patriots. I
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: really feel that way. And is it Raiders ownership? I
- 1:29:33Speaker 6: think it's mostly that. I don't think it's the broadcasting thing.
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: I don't buy because other guys that are in broadcasting
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: have teams they played for and it's not like this
- 1:29:42Speaker 6: with that with a lot of those guys. So I
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: think it's the Raiders ownership thing.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: It just whether.
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: It's something like this, uh you know.
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: These kind of comments.
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: His support for Matthew Stafford for MVP, even if he
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: felt that way that he was the most deserving player,
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: it was just that was kind of he still hasn't
- 1:30:01Speaker 6: called the Patriots game, you know, in his broadcasting career,
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: he still hasn't called a game yet of the Like,
- 1:30:07Speaker 6: all these things just add up to me like he
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: wants to kind of keep the Patriots.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: Like it's like you have a kid, and your kid
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: grows up and gets married and you know, okay, you know,
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: my kid has his own family now, or she has
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: her own family now, but I would like to think
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: that she still recognizes us as her parents. Yeah, and
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: give us you know, like, yeah, you still have a
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: dog in the fight here back at home.
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: Yeah. You know.
- 1:30:31Speaker 7: What's something I like though, is that when they cross
- 1:30:34Speaker 7: paths again with Rabel, if it's on camera or there's
- 1:30:37Speaker 7: some kind of interaction, I think Frabel will we'll let
- 1:30:39Speaker 7: him know that we we heard what his pick was.
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: Or like earlier this season when the Patriots played the Bucks,
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: he said, don't make me choose, right, like, don't make
- 1:30:48Speaker 6: me pick the game.
- 1:30:50Speaker 9: It's like, come on, yeah, do.
- 1:30:53Speaker 6: You think Joe Montana has hesitations about picking the forty
- 1:30:56Speaker 6: nine Ers over the Chiefs, like you know, or Michael
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: Jordan with the Balls and the Wizards New England.
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: Yeah, like right, I mean, obviously Joe Montana is a
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: nine Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
- 1:31:08Speaker 7: But yeah, well, the Patriots fans who hated Brady were
- 1:31:11Speaker 7: ahead of the curve on this one.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: There's Patriots Brady.
- 1:31:16Speaker 7: I hate him.
- 1:31:18Speaker 8: He wrote a song about him, but then he hated that.
- 1:31:20Speaker 8: I forget it was me I hated.
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: Somebody texted me, I need to redo that song.
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: From Kansas City. Get you.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: Do you rank in comparison with all the other Super
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Bowl teams the Patriots have faced?
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: Where do you rank them compared to the other teams?
- 1:31:36Speaker 9: This, this Ox team reminds me a.
- 1:31:39Speaker 6: Little bit of of the the eighteen Rams, just in
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: the way that, yeah, I think when you're within that
- 1:31:47Speaker 6: system and when he's within the easy buttons of the offense,
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: Darnold and Golf are both really really good in their
- 1:31:53Speaker 6: respective years. Uh, young up and coming kind of mastermind,
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: schemer coach. That's the team that it kind of reminds
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: me the most of because of the of the quarterbacks. Really, like,
- 1:32:08Speaker 6: I think both quarterbacks on the good day when they
- 1:32:10Speaker 6: have their offenses rolling, the system is rolling, and all
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: that stuff can be really really good. But they also
- 1:32:16Speaker 6: have days where you wonder if you're ever gonna win
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: a super Bowl with that quarterback.
- 1:32:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I could say that. I mean, I just go one.
- 1:32:24Speaker 7: I think with the way that you've got a kind
- 1:32:26Speaker 7: of a new regime, you've got a new quarterback, you've
- 1:32:29Speaker 7: got some uncertainty. They're not as underdogs as that team was, obviously,
- 1:32:34Speaker 7: but I see some parallels. It's hard to draw those
- 1:32:37Speaker 7: parallels to three, four, fourteen sixty. Those were juggernaut teams
- 1:32:42Speaker 7: that were established and you knew what you were gonna get.
- 1:32:45Speaker 7: And this team is new. There's a new vibe to it.
- 1:32:47Speaker 7: And that's why i'd like to see in the super Bowl,
- 1:32:49Speaker 7: because I don't feel like we know exactly you know
- 1:32:51Speaker 7: what we're gonna get.
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: All right, Well, I'll tell you we got a lot
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: this week. It was a great four days Tuesday through
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: Friday here at Radio Row.
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: Sixteen hours. If Patriots unfiltered.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: It'll be even better if the Patriots can pull off
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: a win, you know, because all this is great to do.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: But if we don't win, it's like, oh man, so
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: here's the Patriots pulling it out on Sunday. Here's to
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: all of you for watching, listening all week, for Paul,
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: for Evan, for Duce, for Matt, for Anthony, for Matisse. Uh,
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: we're gonna sign off. We're gonna get at it. We've
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: got two more days to go. Can't wait. The countdown continues.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: Let's go Patriots.
- 1:33:36Speaker 7: We'll see you next Tuesday. Hey, this is Deuce. Thanks
- 1:33:43Speaker 7: for tuning into the show.
- 1:33:44Speaker 26: If you really want to.
- 1:33:44Speaker 7: Help us, make sure you like us wherever you get
- 1:33:46Speaker 7: your podcasts, like Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Also make sure
- 1:33:49Speaker 7: you follow us on the New England Patriots YouTube channel
- 1:33:52Speaker 7: to see this show and everything else that we do
- 1:33:53Speaker 7: here at the Patriots.
- 1:33:54Speaker 30: Thanks a lot
