- 0:12Speaker 1: I love beautiful beans and welcome to the podcast episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: of Today. If you're watching the video of this, I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: actually standing on Pitt Street in Sydney because Shanai and
- 0:21Speaker 1: I are physically taking you through our vision boarding for
- 0:24Speaker 1: the day. We were sitting at a cafe. We got
- 0:27Speaker 1: like hectic into Pinterest. We've put pinterest fucking photos into
- 0:32Speaker 1: canvas and now we're going to print them at beautiful Officeworks.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Sorry for the hectic noises of the city with like
- 0:38Speaker 1: chains and alarms, but follow us as we go into
- 0:41Speaker 1: office works and prean some photos. I'm so excited. Welcome,
- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to office works. Is it going to open up? Okay,
- 0:52Speaker 1: we're here. Everyone's looking at me like, oh my fucking god.
- 0:56Speaker 1: If you're watching the video, you can understand. But if
- 0:58Speaker 1: you're not watching the video, I'm so embarrassed right now,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and get it, get it, get it all right. We're
- 1:03Speaker 1: going to the photo printing station or in office works.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'm just browsing the aisles doing a pirouette. We're going
- 1:11Speaker 1: to the printing section and we're just going to find
- 1:14Speaker 1: like the best way to print. We're thinking like big
- 1:17Speaker 1: sheets of photos. In camp we put like all the
- 1:19Speaker 1: photos next to each other on sheets, and then we're
- 1:21Speaker 1: going to print it out as big sheets, and then
- 1:22Speaker 1: we're going to cut them up and stick them on
- 1:25Speaker 1: like cardboard. We're doing three vision boards today. We're doing
- 1:28Speaker 1: one for Shanized Personal life, love so Much, one for
- 1:32Speaker 1: my personal life, and then we're doing one for like
- 1:35Speaker 1: the business, the podcast, all of that. So you're going
- 1:38Speaker 1: to get an insight into obviously our personal lives and
- 1:41Speaker 1: what we want for next year, but also like a
- 1:43Speaker 1: big insight into like the business for next year. I'm
- 1:47Speaker 1: so excited. Station turned. We're just going to try and
- 1:51Speaker 1: printing our own photos here. I'm very technologically incompetent, so
- 1:55Speaker 1: I'm also talking really quietly into the microphone because I
- 1:58Speaker 1: who on what planet is coming into Office's with the
- 2:01Speaker 1: microphone a bond for everyone. So we nearly finished with
- 2:06Speaker 1: the photo printing and that was the easiest thing in
- 2:09Speaker 1: the world here at Office Works. Also, this is not
- 2:11Speaker 1: spum from Office Works. However, Office Works. If you're listening,
- 2:14Speaker 1: you should sponsor me because we're out here singing your
- 2:17Speaker 1: fucking praises. It's so fucking easy, isn't it should I Anyway,
- 2:22Speaker 1: we're finishing our selection. It just automatically knows what orientation
- 2:25Speaker 1: the photos are and whila, we are picking up the
- 2:31Speaker 1: photos from the counter. We did get a warning saying
- 2:33Speaker 1: that some of them would be very low resolution, but
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm willing to take the risk. We're getting fifty nine
- 2:40Speaker 1: prints out of this order extreme behavior here at office works.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Fifty nine prints. Okay, so that's printed for way more
- 2:48Speaker 1: than I thought, like when you physically have it. We've
- 2:51Speaker 1: got the three, We've got work Shanaia Alexis. Now we
- 2:53Speaker 1: need some big ass cardboards and we need glue. We
- 2:57Speaker 1: can't forget the glue. Okay, We're going to go to
- 2:59Speaker 1: the QVB to find a patch of space. We're gonna
- 3:02Speaker 1: sit down and do our vision boards and all be
- 3:04Speaker 1: well in the world. Sane. It's cold, Oh it's fresh.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It's raining on us. I can't handle there. This is
- 3:13Speaker 1: a rainy girl, fake summer walk to the QVAB. It's
- 3:19Speaker 1: not brat summer. It's like plain Jane summer. Right now,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I've arrived at the potential location for our vision boarding.
- 3:26Speaker 1: The architecture is inspirational, so I feel like, when inspired,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you vision board better. Don't vision board in a dungeon, guys.
- 3:35Speaker 1: It's not good for the soul. We are at the
- 3:37Speaker 1: Express Library, which we had no idea existed, but it
- 3:41Speaker 1: is like this tiny fucking library in the middle of
- 3:45Speaker 1: the CBD. But we found a desk. We tried to
- 3:49Speaker 1: go into a cafe. We're like, is it so obnoxious
- 3:51Speaker 1: to go into a cafe with like a huge posters
- 3:54Speaker 1: and like forty five thousand print in out photo. So
- 3:57Speaker 1: we're like, that's just we're not we are not that.
- 4:01Speaker 1: So we're in this little, tiny Express Library at town Hall.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I can't give you the address because I don't want
- 4:06Speaker 1: to give it away because you could fit like two
- 4:08Speaker 1: point five people in here. Anyway, we have a table
- 4:11Speaker 1: and we are beginning with our moods, so we have
- 4:14Speaker 1: just these are all just place healthy. I'm going to
- 4:17Speaker 1: have to glue them down. But we've got a nice
- 4:20Speaker 1: array of all different things. So for the vision board,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I've decided to put in everything for the business for
- 4:27Speaker 1: next year. So for example, I've got ideas for more
- 4:30Speaker 1: merch like mugs and different key things and things like
- 4:34Speaker 1: that color ways that we're kind of leaning into. I've
- 4:38Speaker 1: also got one of my favorite podcasters, she's French Lennamfth.
- 4:42Speaker 1: She's fucking vibe. So I just want to channel her
- 4:44Speaker 1: energy a bit her with a massive billboard. That will
- 4:47Speaker 1: be me. I'm want to start doing retreats next year.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Stay tuned. This is us just like you know, packaging
- 4:56Speaker 1: the merch and sending it out to people, just me
- 4:59Speaker 1: being a boss bitch with the podcast, just taking it
- 5:04Speaker 1: to the fucking next level. How the office is gonna look.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I want to go heavy into like really cool vibes
- 5:11Speaker 1: in the office. I really want to lean in and
- 5:13Speaker 1: make it like a space that when I walk in
- 5:16Speaker 1: it's like, oh my fucking god. What else. I'm want
- 5:19Speaker 1: to start doing supper club nights as part of the
- 5:23Speaker 1: podcast and the Business and Mindset Recreation Club. We're taking
- 5:27Speaker 1: the podcast to Paris next year. We're taking the podcast
- 5:30Speaker 1: to London next year. I'm saying this because we're doing
- 5:33Speaker 1: it and New York. We didn't ever fart of New York,
- 5:36Speaker 1: so that looks like New York. And we also had
- 5:40Speaker 1: some like live show photos, so we're gonna have to
- 5:42Speaker 1: print more and do the second one for like live
- 5:45Speaker 1: show and things like that because we're going to do
- 5:46Speaker 1: heaps of live shows next year. So this is kind
- 5:48Speaker 1: of where we're at oh and Humman. I really want
- 5:53Speaker 1: to interview humanman. And we also had like Stephen Bartlett,
- 5:57Speaker 1: but with that photo didn't print. Gonna have to do
- 6:00Speaker 1: a second board for more photos. But this is where
- 6:02Speaker 1: we're at right now and we're loving it so much.
- 6:05Speaker 1: In socks, definitely doing socks so we have the finished product.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Don't even talk to me. This is the best thing ever.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm going to go through it properly when we're in
- 6:16Speaker 1: the office. But okay, now we're going to work on
- 6:20Speaker 1: our personal ones, so we're gonna lay out Shanai as
- 6:24Speaker 1: a personal mood board. Stat tuned.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Hello guys. This my cameo first type monipod, So pretty
- 6:34Speaker 2: much the energy going into twenty twenty five. It's giving
- 6:39Speaker 2: clear skin City VI Beach because I love going to
- 6:42Speaker 2: faster beautiful beach. We're going to move back to the
- 6:46Speaker 2: city because I love that spot in the city. We're
- 6:50Speaker 2: going to go to Europe. We love Paris, so we've
- 6:53Speaker 2: included some Paris vibes. I would love to get a
- 6:56Speaker 2: sausage dog, my favorite dog ever. Skincare you know we're
- 7:02Speaker 2: coffee like a coffee cafe. Harping marchers. Veino's taking pics
- 7:08Speaker 2: with friends that kind of vibe and then also loved.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm going to channel that and actually this year,
- 7:15Speaker 2: you know, like, look how glamor she looks. For those
- 7:19Speaker 2: viewing the podcast, yeah, I love it.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So we're back. As you've probably noticed, many things, many things.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Days have passed since the last vision boarding session because
- 7:32Speaker 1: then I had to go to the hairdresser and anyway,
- 7:34Speaker 1: long story shot, where now in the office, and it's
- 7:37Speaker 1: been about a week. My nails are gone, ripped them
- 7:40Speaker 1: all off. And what also has gone. If you're watching
- 7:42Speaker 1: the video, you will see that instead of the beautiful
- 7:45Speaker 1: fluffy microphone cover, I have a dead cat dead cat
- 7:49Speaker 1: on my microphone, but it's more like a dead rat
- 7:52Speaker 1: because it's a lot smaller. I lost my microphone cover
- 7:56Speaker 1: in Melbourne. Didn't even use it. I just took it
- 7:59Speaker 1: down there. I don't know why, but I had my
- 8:01Speaker 1: microphone in Melbourne. I was only going for three days
- 8:03Speaker 1: and low and behold, someone now is in possession of
- 8:06Speaker 1: my microphone cover and I am not okay, So now
- 8:09Speaker 1: I look like I'm just wielding a dildo around while trying. Anyway,
- 8:14Speaker 1: let's just get straight into it. We're gonna do my
- 8:17Speaker 1: personal vision pot. We're gonna like, look, recap. This is
- 8:21Speaker 1: my vision board. I mean, this is the business vision board,
- 8:24Speaker 1: Dona beautiful. Then we've got Shanaia's vision board just as stunning.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Lots of water. She's in her water era, water and coffee.
- 8:37Speaker 1: It's just coffee and water. Look at that, there's one, two, three,
- 8:43Speaker 1: four coffee, wine, wine. It's just beverages and water. She
- 8:50Speaker 1: knows what she wants, she's clear with her intentions. If
- 8:53Speaker 1: the universe doesn't deliver that, then vision boarding doesn't work. Okay, cool,
- 8:57Speaker 1: let's start with mine. Okay, so we finished my personal
- 9:00Speaker 1: vision board, and then we're going to put all vision
- 9:02Speaker 1: boards up so Shani and I can look at them
- 9:04Speaker 1: every day. But this is my personal one. We're going
- 9:07Speaker 1: to go through it. So we've got if you're watching,
- 9:10Speaker 1: then obviously you can see this. You can imagine it
- 9:13Speaker 1: so much more. We've got a lot of travel as usual,
- 9:16Speaker 1: so we've got you know, drinking wine clearly somewhere in Italy,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I think Paris. Obviously, I really want to do a
- 9:22Speaker 1: snow trip. I want to be jumping off a boat
- 9:25Speaker 1: at some point next year. Water Formula one. I want
- 9:28Speaker 1: to go to a Formula one. Somebody get me to
- 9:32Speaker 1: a Grand Prix. Melbourne would be epic anywhere around the world.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I don't care if you've got hookups like there's I
- 9:39Speaker 1: will do whatever it takes. Okay, So there's that again.
- 9:43Speaker 1: More travel. I'd love to go to New York when
- 9:45Speaker 1: it's cold. Doesn't have to be in the middle of Christmas,
- 9:47Speaker 1: but I just would love to go when it's cold.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Then we've got I want to write, and this is
- 9:53Speaker 1: the first time I'm announcing this. I want to write
- 9:55Speaker 1: a fiction book like a psychopath. Okay, like a creative writer.
- 10:00Speaker 1: What the fuck? So that's there, Australian Open. I already
- 10:04Speaker 1: know I'm going, but I just thought i'd put it
- 10:06Speaker 1: on there because vibes romance, dancing with Tyrone every night.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Just we're in love, okay, which we already are, but
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm just more more of that. Okay. Then she's so cool.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I love her aesthetic, love her so much, so we
- 10:20Speaker 1: more of her. Then we've got reading outdoors after swimming.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We've got this beautiful energy. What is that? Lots of
- 10:28Speaker 1: rom coms, cool aesthetic at home and in the office.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I want to have dinner parties lots of dinner parties.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I want to project her and I want to be
- 10:35Speaker 1: watching movies. I love her asthetic vibes, good times, lots
- 10:39Speaker 1: of coffees, more kind of Nancy Meyer's energy in the home,
- 10:44Speaker 1: if you guys know, Nancy Meyer's films, all the rom coms,
- 10:47Speaker 1: everything that I love so much. So that is my year.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I think I need to do a part two with
- 10:52Speaker 1: another board because there's so much I want to do.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But yes, part of this episode is going to be
- 10:56Speaker 1: me talking through kind of wrapping up the rest of
- 10:59Speaker 1: the year and how vision board and the importance of
- 11:01Speaker 1: like visualization and vision boarding and how to do it.
- 11:04Speaker 1: So just keep listening basically since since Okay, so we
- 11:30Speaker 1: are now here sitting on my couch on the DYFM
- 11:34Speaker 1: beautiful comfortable couch, and we're going to continue the episode
- 11:37Speaker 1: from here. So we are talking about vision boarding, okay,
- 11:42Speaker 1: And we're talking about vision boarding. And also you can't
- 11:44Speaker 1: talk about vision boarding without talking about visualization. I have
- 11:48Speaker 1: done an episode on kind of like the neuroscience of visualizations.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I'll be touching on some of those topics from that
- 11:54Speaker 1: episode that came out. I think, like I want to say,
- 11:58Speaker 1: a year ago But anyway, we're going to be touching
- 12:00Speaker 1: on some of those things. But I want to talk
- 12:03Speaker 1: about how to vision board in a way that is
- 12:06Speaker 1: not only going to be effective, but it's also going
- 12:09Speaker 1: to feel really good. It's going to help you stay
- 12:12Speaker 1: on track with your goals, with your new routines, with
- 12:15Speaker 1: your new habits because of how you are approaching things.
- 12:19Speaker 1: And I'm going to explain why it's so important to
- 12:21Speaker 1: have visual representations of those things, because why is it that,
- 12:26Speaker 1: like photos are so powerful when it comes to your
- 12:31Speaker 1: desires and your goals and things like that and the
- 12:33Speaker 1: image that it represents and all of the above. So
- 12:38Speaker 1: let's talk about it. So the first thing I want
- 12:40Speaker 1: to do is kind of go over the science of visualization.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I'm going to kind of like talk about it. I'm
- 12:44Speaker 1: going to talk about the different benefits that you get
- 12:46Speaker 1: with visualization. Then we're going to talk about how to
- 12:49Speaker 1: vision board, and then how to practice visualization with your
- 12:53Speaker 1: vision board good times. Now let's start with the first bit.
- 12:58Speaker 1: So the first bit is the science of visualization. So
- 13:02Speaker 1: how visualization works in general is that the brain in
- 13:08Speaker 1: certain aspects of how the brain operates, not in every
- 13:10Speaker 1: aspect obviously, but it sometimes in certain areas struggles to
- 13:14Speaker 1: kind of differentiate between really vividly imagined experiences and real
- 13:19Speaker 1: life events. And I think we can all relate to
- 13:22Speaker 1: that in a sense when we have felt anxious, Okay,
- 13:25Speaker 1: there is no with a lot of times when we
- 13:28Speaker 1: feel anxious, there is no immediate real threat, but our
- 13:32Speaker 1: body is behaving as if there is. Okay. So that
- 13:34Speaker 1: just gives you an insight into how we can imagine
- 13:40Speaker 1: put ourselves in the shoes off. Think about imagine if
- 13:43Speaker 1: you start to thinking about something really sad, like my
- 13:45Speaker 1: best friend live, she only just has to contemplate what
- 13:48Speaker 1: it would be like with her dog dying, and she's sobbing, like,
- 13:51Speaker 1: oh my god, I can't even imagine what it would
- 13:52Speaker 1: be like. Okay. So so often just imagining something we're
- 13:58Speaker 1: very good at imagining, and it can be so so
- 14:00Speaker 1: real that our body starts to really feel as if
- 14:03Speaker 1: it is actually happening. Okay. That happens with good things,
- 14:07Speaker 1: with anxiety, with funny things. When you're recalling events, when
- 14:10Speaker 1: you're thinking about future events, the brain sometimes makes it
- 14:14Speaker 1: makes it so real that we actually experience those emotions
- 14:17Speaker 1: in that moment. Okay, when we visualize, we actually activate
- 14:23Speaker 1: specific pathways within our brain that are strengthening our association
- 14:29Speaker 1: with that thing. Okay, Now, there's many different pathways in
- 14:32Speaker 1: the brain that can be activated. One major one is
- 14:35Speaker 1: the motor all the motor pathways throughout the whole body. Now,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I've spoken about this idea of like visual motor rehearsal,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and there's good ways of doing it and not so
- 14:45Speaker 1: good ways of doing it. But there's studies that have
- 14:47Speaker 1: been done when people visualize practicing something, whether it's playing
- 14:52Speaker 1: the piano or shooting a basketball through a hoop, or
- 14:55Speaker 1: you know, doing a peril a dance pairro weet, doing
- 14:58Speaker 1: like a physical movement. The asterisk here is that you
- 15:03Speaker 1: actually have to know how to perform that movement properly
- 15:06Speaker 1: before you continue to then visualize and practice in your mind.
- 15:09Speaker 1: But those who could do the movement properly that then
- 15:11Speaker 1: went on to actually just practice through visualization versus the
- 15:16Speaker 1: group that practiced physically, you saw the same benefits of
- 15:20Speaker 1: very very similar benefits versus the control group that learned
- 15:22Speaker 1: how to do the thing and then didn't do anything after. Okay,
- 15:26Speaker 1: So through this visual motor rehearsal, again, like I said,
- 15:30Speaker 1: you have to know how to actually do it. I
- 15:32Speaker 1: can't sit here and visualize playing the piano amazingly if
- 15:35Speaker 1: I don't actually know kind of the ground rules of
- 15:39Speaker 1: how to actually play the piano and then sit on
- 15:41Speaker 1: a piano and sit out a seat and be able
- 15:43Speaker 1: to play the piano properly or do a pirauid or whatever.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So there has to be a basic understanding of the
- 15:47Speaker 1: foundations of that thing. But once you have that to
- 15:50Speaker 1: then rehearse and rehearsal rehearse in your mind actually starts
- 15:52Speaker 1: to strengthen this visual motor kind of link within the body. Okay,
- 15:57Speaker 1: so you see visualization being strengthened strengthened in that way,
- 16:01Speaker 1: But visualization or imagination or imagining as if is also
- 16:05Speaker 1: really strong when it comes to your mental strength, your tenacity,
- 16:10Speaker 1: your willpower, other things in life that are not necessarily physical.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So imagining that you can process a difficult conversation a
- 16:18Speaker 1: lot calmer instead of snapping, say someone that always snaps
- 16:22Speaker 1: and always gets really angry. If you can imagine yourself
- 16:24Speaker 1: in that scenario but visualize yourself deal with it in
- 16:28Speaker 1: a completely different way. The more you visualize yourself doing that,
- 16:32Speaker 1: you're going to notice that you can then start dealing
- 16:34Speaker 1: with these situations a lot better. That's why journaling is
- 16:37Speaker 1: so important because it gets especially uncognitive behavioral therapy. It
- 16:41Speaker 1: all comes down to visualizing something as being different. So
- 16:44Speaker 1: when you journal, one of the things in cognitive behavioral
- 16:47Speaker 1: therapy is you'll be journaling how something went down, and
- 16:50Speaker 1: then you will write how it could have gone down
- 16:52Speaker 1: or how you could approach that thing differently. So, for example,
- 16:55Speaker 1: if you got into a scenario where you snapped and
- 16:57Speaker 1: got really angry, you would journal about it, explain what
- 16:59Speaker 1: you felt, what you were going through, and then you
- 17:01Speaker 1: would journal what it could look like in the future.
- 17:04Speaker 1: And the future I could interpret it this way, I
- 17:05Speaker 1: could do this, I could take a few breadths and
- 17:07Speaker 1: this and that, and because you're imagining, then all of
- 17:10Speaker 1: a sudden, that's how you approach it in the future.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So really, really, really fucking interesting. Okay. So that obviously
- 17:16Speaker 1: this practice with physical, with emotional, with everything, it's going
- 17:19Speaker 1: to enhance your confidence, is going to reduce your stress,
- 17:22Speaker 1: it's going to prime your brain to be prepared for
- 17:27Speaker 1: things a whole lot better. Now. Also, I've touched on
- 17:31Speaker 1: this in the past, but I'll touch on it again
- 17:33Speaker 1: the role of the reticular activating system, so the ras
- 17:36Speaker 1: RaaS it's basically filters incoming information based on its relevance
- 17:42Speaker 1: to what you are priming yourself to be exposed to
- 17:45Speaker 1: or to look for or whatever. So when you visualize
- 17:49Speaker 1: something that you want from the perspective of already having it,
- 17:52Speaker 1: from the perspective of it being realistic for you, you
- 17:56Speaker 1: are actually more primed to be open to conversation about
- 18:00Speaker 1: that thing. Opportunity is about that thing. Putting yourself out there,
- 18:03Speaker 1: going out on a limb, doing something that's probably more
- 18:06Speaker 1: daring that you normally wouldn't be willing to do, you
- 18:09Speaker 1: are actually priming yourself and you are more aware of
- 18:13Speaker 1: things than if you're someone that says, I don't even
- 18:16Speaker 1: want to imagine that thing for me because it's just
- 18:18Speaker 1: not possible for me. It's not what So you just
- 18:19Speaker 1: don't even you shut that thing out. And then often
- 18:22Speaker 1: when an opportunity presents itself, you might not even acknowledge
- 18:26Speaker 1: it or see it as being an opportunity. You kind
- 18:29Speaker 1: of might unintentionally let it pass you by a conversation
- 18:33Speaker 1: with someone anything. Okay, So the reticular activating system, you know,
- 18:37Speaker 1: once you start priming your brain prior to starting the
- 18:41Speaker 1: day getting out in the world of being, Like, this
- 18:43Speaker 1: is what I'm focusing on, this is what I'm aware of,
- 18:46Speaker 1: this is what I'm looking for, this is what I'm
- 18:48Speaker 1: going to give my attention and my focus to. Then
- 18:51Speaker 1: you'll start to notice these things crop up for you
- 18:55Speaker 1: really often because you're primed, you're ready to accept it. Okay,
- 19:00Speaker 1: Like these things just like align with your objectives and
- 19:02Speaker 1: things like that. And then really important is how our
- 19:05Speaker 1: body responds to emotionally charged memories. Okay. So obviously, as
- 19:10Speaker 1: we know, emotions make our memories much stronger and much
- 19:14Speaker 1: easier to retrieve because they are they take up a
- 19:18Speaker 1: bigger portion of our memory. They use our emotions. There's
- 19:21Speaker 1: there's a lot I've spoken about this. I think I
- 19:25Speaker 1: spoke about it in many episodes, like dopamine, cortersold all
- 19:27Speaker 1: these things. But there's a lot of neurochemicals that are
- 19:30Speaker 1: involved when there's an emotionally charged memory, good or bad. Okay,
- 19:34Speaker 1: So if you had an emotionally significant event happened to you, right,
- 19:39Speaker 1: you are more likely to not only remember that event,
- 19:41Speaker 1: but remember the surrounding things about that event. Okay, So,
- 19:45Speaker 1: for example, if I am and so, you could also
- 19:50Speaker 1: do this for visualization as well. If I if I
- 19:52Speaker 1: just visualize, oh, yep, the Eiffel Tower, I want to
- 19:55Speaker 1: go to Paris cool versus close my eyes, I imagine
- 20:00Speaker 1: the Eiffel Tower. I've been there, so it's even easier
- 20:02Speaker 1: for me to imagine. But even if you haven't been there,
- 20:04Speaker 1: you can imagine what it would be like. The smells,
- 20:07Speaker 1: what have you brought some food with you? Have you? This?
- 20:09Speaker 1: Have you that? You start imagining, you start picturing, and
- 20:11Speaker 1: then it becomes really real, it becomes emotional. You start
- 20:14Speaker 1: bringing all the sensors into it. And then the next
- 20:17Speaker 1: time I think about visualizing a trip, I want to
- 20:19Speaker 1: like make this trip happen for me. I'm going to
- 20:21Speaker 1: make this a goal of mine. I'm going to put
- 20:22Speaker 1: it on my vision board. The next time I think
- 20:24Speaker 1: of Eiffel Tower, I don't just think image of the
- 20:26Speaker 1: Eiffel Tower. Next I think, oh my god, that feeling,
- 20:29Speaker 1: the smells, this, it's like it's quite charged. Okay, now
- 20:33Speaker 1: we all know what it feels like for a negative
- 20:35Speaker 1: experience of how much you can like thinking of an
- 20:37Speaker 1: event or something bad that happened you can just raise instantly,
- 20:40Speaker 1: your heart rate goes up, you feel hot, you just
- 20:42Speaker 1: don't feel good, and then you're anxious for hours. The
- 20:44Speaker 1: same can go for the positive. Okay, So this emotionally
- 20:51Speaker 1: charged memories, and I'm going to talk about why emotion
- 20:53Speaker 1: is so important when you're doing a vision board and
- 20:54Speaker 1: when you're trying to like plan things for your future.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It's really really important because it's what basically reinforces neural
- 21:02Speaker 1: circuits for the good or for the bad. So we
- 21:03Speaker 1: want to be using it for the good obviously. So
- 21:06Speaker 1: when you do this and when it's positively charged and
- 21:09Speaker 1: when it's like really reinforced, you actually start to feel
- 21:12Speaker 1: like your goals are more achievable and are more realistic.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And your perception determines your reality. Okay, So if I
- 21:21Speaker 1: perceive something to be possible for me, I don't have
- 21:25Speaker 1: to lie and say, oh my god, it's a definite,
- 21:27Speaker 1: it's happening. I'm a millionaire today. I don't have to
- 21:30Speaker 1: do that. I mean I can, but I don't have
- 21:31Speaker 1: to do that. It's just I have to see it
- 21:33Speaker 1: as being possible. If I see it as being possible,
- 21:37Speaker 1: how I approach that thing or how I approach anything
- 21:41Speaker 1: in my life is going to be very different to
- 21:45Speaker 1: if I don't think something's possible or if I think
- 21:47Speaker 1: something is highly unlikely. Okay, Now, just because something isn't
- 21:51Speaker 1: happening in your life right now doesn't mean that it's
- 21:54Speaker 1: not possible. Just because something hasn't happened for anyone in
- 21:57Speaker 1: your circle or in your family doesn't mean it's not.
- 22:00Speaker 1: So you have to broaden your perspective of what is possible.
- 22:02Speaker 1: But it still has to be possible for you. You
- 22:06Speaker 1: can't be putting things on your vision board thinking this
- 22:08Speaker 1: will never happen, But I'm still going to put it
- 22:10Speaker 1: on my vision board as a goal that I want
- 22:12Speaker 1: to achieve or something that I want to obtain in
- 22:14Speaker 1: my life. Okay, has to be possible. You have to
- 22:17Speaker 1: see it as being possible. When you see something as
- 22:20Speaker 1: being possible, the way you approach that thing is very different,
- 22:24Speaker 1: very different. Okay. Now, let's talk about the benefits of
- 22:29Speaker 1: visualization in general. I'll kind of go over them quickly
- 22:32Speaker 1: and then we'll get straight into the vision boarding. So
- 22:33Speaker 1: the first one is your internal working model. So visualization
- 22:37Speaker 1: actually helps reshape your core beliefs that are formed during
- 22:41Speaker 1: your upbringing, during difficult experiences, during difficult relationships, you know,
- 22:45Speaker 1: past trauma, good things, bad things. Visualization can actually help
- 22:50Speaker 1: you reshape these deep seated beliefs within you to help
- 22:53Speaker 1: you have a healthier outlook in life. I've spoken about
- 22:56Speaker 1: internal working model a thousand times, and it is basically
- 23:00Speaker 1: what you perceive yourself as capable of achieving and what
- 23:02Speaker 1: you perceive the world to be, Like whether it's good bad,
- 23:05Speaker 1: Are there good people bad people? Is it generally a
- 23:07Speaker 1: good place? Is it generally a bad place? Okay? And
- 23:10Speaker 1: that is established from a very young age. Okay. When
- 23:13Speaker 1: you start to visualize and imagine things going differently for you,
- 23:17Speaker 1: you start to interact with the world very differently. You
- 23:20Speaker 1: start to get information that reinforces this positive interaction, and
- 23:23Speaker 1: then you start to change your core beliefs around people,
- 23:26Speaker 1: the world, everything. For example, if you've always got this
- 23:28Speaker 1: negative idea about relationships, right and reinforcing, reinforcing, reinforcing, you're
- 23:34Speaker 1: probably going to be primed particular activating system to see
- 23:38Speaker 1: negative relationships. Then you're going to be more walls up.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I'm not going to be vulnerable. Then when people try
- 23:43Speaker 1: and get close to you're like, don't fucking get close
- 23:45Speaker 1: to me. Then they're leaving, like see see everyone's fucking abandonment.
- 23:48Speaker 1: But they're probably leaving because they can't break through, or
- 23:50Speaker 1: they're not getting the intimate side of you. They're not
- 23:53Speaker 1: getting like you're not being warm, so they're like, oh,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I'm not going to bother. This is probably the too
- 23:57Speaker 1: hard basket. So it's not necessarily that they thought you
- 23:59Speaker 1: were bad thought. This is not gonna you know, they're
- 24:02Speaker 1: not open to me, so I'm just gonna And then
- 24:03Speaker 1: you're saying seat proof, proof proof versus if you were
- 24:06Speaker 1: to turn it around, being like, I'm going to start
- 24:08Speaker 1: to look at really healthy examples of love. I'm going
- 24:10Speaker 1: to fill my awareness with really healthy relationships in my awareness.
- 24:13Speaker 1: The ones that are unhealthy, I'm going to acknowledge it
- 24:15Speaker 1: and not dwell on it. I'm going to start to
- 24:17Speaker 1: really like you start to change your opinion. Then you
- 24:19Speaker 1: start to meet people. Instead of instantly thinking you're going
- 24:22Speaker 1: to fuck me over, you're gonna this, you start thinking, well,
- 24:25Speaker 1: why not give them a chance. If they fuck me over,
- 24:27Speaker 1: I'll survive, let's let's talk. Let's and then before you
- 24:30Speaker 1: know it, you start to have healthier and healthier and
- 24:32Speaker 1: healthier relationships. And then that starts to change your internal
- 24:35Speaker 1: working model that not everyone is bad, not all relationships
- 24:38Speaker 1: are toxic, not all this, that and whatever. The second one,
- 24:43Speaker 1: which I already spoke about, so I'm not going to
- 24:44Speaker 1: go into it, but it benefits in this mental rehearsal.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I spoke about that just before, with like a motor
- 24:51Speaker 1: visual motor rehearsal. And then like familiarizing yourself with patterns
- 24:55Speaker 1: within the brain, and the more you repeat it, the
- 24:57Speaker 1: more it becomes concrete in your brain. With this, you
- 24:59Speaker 1: know the idea of neuroplasticity and how your brain can
- 25:01Speaker 1: rewire itself and reorganize certain circuits as many times as
- 25:05Speaker 1: it needs to. And then of course positive reinforcements. So
- 25:09Speaker 1: when you start to believe that something is achievable, you
- 25:11Speaker 1: can start with something small, you scale it however you want,
- 25:14Speaker 1: but when something actually does happen for you, that's that
- 25:17Speaker 1: positive reinforcement being like, wait a minute, this has happened,
- 25:20Speaker 1: and it's shown me that this is possible, so maybe
- 25:23Speaker 1: this other thing, and then that starts to happen, that
- 25:25Speaker 1: that starts to happen, and before you know it, what
- 25:27Speaker 1: your goals are now, they're probably going to be a
- 25:29Speaker 1: lot bigger in six months versus twelve months versus. And
- 25:32Speaker 1: it's not as in, not from the perspective of, oh,
- 25:35Speaker 1: it's never going to be enough, but from the perspective
- 25:37Speaker 1: of what I see myself being able to achieve is
- 25:40Speaker 1: just growing and growing and growing, and my growth can
- 25:42Speaker 1: be as infinite as I want it to be. Okay,
- 25:45Speaker 1: now let's talk about how to vision board. So let's
- 25:52Speaker 1: talk about like the crux of vision boarding. Because you
- 25:55Speaker 1: saw how I did my vision board, and mind you,
- 25:57Speaker 1: I'm going to need to do like a few more
- 25:59Speaker 1: posters because many things that I would like to continue
- 26:01Speaker 1: including on that, but that was just an example. First
- 26:03Speaker 1: thing number one is you want to create ball, this
- 26:06Speaker 1: is how I vision board, You vision board however the
- 26:08Speaker 1: fuck you want. But if you want to do it
- 26:09Speaker 1: the Alexis way, this is how I recommend you do it,
- 26:12Speaker 1: and I feel like how a lot of people recommend
- 26:13Speaker 1: you do it. You want to have categories, so you
- 26:16Speaker 1: don't want to do it all on one particular topic.
- 26:19Speaker 1: You want it to look like it's a lifestyle. So
- 26:22Speaker 1: for example, I did two. I did one that was
- 26:25Speaker 1: for work because obviously my work encompasses a lot of
- 26:28Speaker 1: my life because a lot of my work is also
- 26:30Speaker 1: my passion. But for some people, work isn't their passion.
- 26:33Speaker 1: So you don't want everything to be on work or
- 26:35Speaker 1: just your part. You want to have categories. So I
- 26:37Speaker 1: did almost two separate vision boards because there's so much
- 26:39Speaker 1: that goes on in my work and a lot of
- 26:41Speaker 1: my creativity that I thought, let's just dedicate one to
- 26:44Speaker 1: that and then one to just my personal life outside
- 26:47Speaker 1: of my career and my work. Okay, but you want
- 26:49Speaker 1: to have career slash work, you want to have a
- 26:52Speaker 1: huge one is hobbies, things that you want to do
- 26:56Speaker 1: in your spare time, experiences that you want to have,
- 26:58Speaker 1: So hobbies and experiences, so you can have that as
- 27:01Speaker 1: two separate things. Another one that you want to have
- 27:03Speaker 1: is everyday lifestyle. So what do you want your every
- 27:07Speaker 1: day to look like? Because it's all well and good
- 27:09Speaker 1: to put on your vision board, like I had a
- 27:10Speaker 1: lot of travel on mine. It's all well and good
- 27:12Speaker 1: to be like, I want to experience this, this, this, this,
- 27:14Speaker 1: But when I'm home, I'm fucking hating my life. I
- 27:16Speaker 1: hate my routine, I hate everything, I hate my job,
- 27:18Speaker 1: I hate, hate, hate, hate hate. So this is why
- 27:20Speaker 1: it's important to look at your life as a holistic thing.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I want to enjoy every day, right, I want to
- 27:26Speaker 1: have more than just pockets, but moments, many moments in
- 27:30Speaker 1: my day where I'm experiencing joy. So I'm happy, but
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm obviously experiencing joy in these moments. So I was
- 27:36Speaker 1: putting certain things, like I had an image of two
- 27:39Speaker 1: people dancing like I'm having like a really sorry's separate
- 27:43Speaker 1: to that relationships. So my vision board, I had, you know,
- 27:46Speaker 1: two people dancing like Tyrone and I, you know, being
- 27:49Speaker 1: romantic and being very much in love and healthy relationships.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I put you know, people chatting. I put you know,
- 27:55Speaker 1: obviously trips together. I put like coffees, swims. I want
- 27:58Speaker 1: to start doing more harbor swims and things like that.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So things in your everyday life versus also big experiences
- 28:02Speaker 1: that you want to have. And then work wise, I
- 28:04Speaker 1: was looking at, you know, things that I'm already doing
- 28:06Speaker 1: but expanding on it, and then things that I haven't
- 28:09Speaker 1: yet done. And then I did like things that I
- 28:11Speaker 1: know are one hundred percent going to happen and are achievable,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but I just want to see it through someone putting
- 28:15Speaker 1: it on the board. And then I've got things that
- 28:17Speaker 1: are like best case scenario, I really want this to happen,
- 28:20Speaker 1: but I don't really have total control over. But I'm
- 28:22Speaker 1: just going to put it there because I'm working towards that,
- 28:25Speaker 1: like wanting to interview Andrew Huberman. So there's you know,
- 28:28Speaker 1: things that are directly in my control and things that
- 28:30Speaker 1: I can kind of work towards but might not ultimately
- 28:33Speaker 1: be in my control. But you pick basically you decide
- 28:35Speaker 1: what your categories are. But I had lifestyle. You can
- 28:39Speaker 1: have like health in there as well. You can have physical,
- 28:42Speaker 1: like just personal physical. So I put like people that
- 28:45Speaker 1: have really cool fashion, and I'm like, I love that vibe.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I want to like be morphing more into that style.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I really enjoy it. Then you've got like career, You've
- 28:52Speaker 1: got hobbies, lifestyle, and you know milestone events or like
- 28:56Speaker 1: travel things like that. So you choose whichever category applies
- 28:59Speaker 1: to you. You can have as many as you want, okay,
- 29:02Speaker 1: and then once you understand what that category is, then
- 29:06Speaker 1: you want to find photos. Pinterest is iconic for this.
- 29:11Speaker 1: You want to find photos that really speak to you
- 29:14Speaker 1: about that thing that you want to visualize. They that
- 29:17Speaker 1: an image is representing a feeling. So when you think
- 29:22Speaker 1: of that, like, when you've got that image, you want
- 29:24Speaker 1: to imagine that you're living from the end, as in
- 29:26Speaker 1: you are living from having already acquired that thing or
- 29:30Speaker 1: experienced that thing. Okay, So in my vision board, I'm
- 29:33Speaker 1: just looking at it's on the wall there. In my
- 29:35Speaker 1: vision board, I'm looking at particular merch that I want
- 29:37Speaker 1: to have. I'm looking at particular things with you know,
- 29:40Speaker 1: the podcast that I want to do, or how i
- 29:41Speaker 1: want the office setup. So I'm imagining what that would
- 29:44Speaker 1: look like from having already had it. And so when
- 29:47Speaker 1: I've got that image, then I'm able to add more
- 29:49Speaker 1: to it and I'm able to really experience the emotions
- 29:52Speaker 1: of already having it. The photos on your vision board
- 29:56Speaker 1: serve as an anchor that is related to all these emotions.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So it's kind of this like anchoring thing that It's
- 30:04Speaker 1: like every time I look at that photo, it brings
- 30:06Speaker 1: me to this point where I already have all these thoughts,
- 30:10Speaker 1: beliefs and emotions that are tied to this. So if
- 30:13Speaker 1: I have the image if the Eiffel Tower on mine,
- 30:15Speaker 1: I'm like, I already know that brings up everything I
- 30:16Speaker 1: want to think of. I know, I know it all,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and I'm imagining it. I'm imagining myself being there. It's
- 30:21Speaker 1: great if I look at one of like someone with
- 30:23Speaker 1: really cool style that I want to pick up. It's
- 30:26Speaker 1: just one image, right, But in my mind, I'm like, oh,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you know, and I love this style and this and
- 30:31Speaker 1: this and then whatever. Okay, but think each image on
- 30:34Speaker 1: that vision board has to be like almost like a
- 30:37Speaker 1: doorway to all these positive thoughts, memories and emotions. Okay,
- 30:43Speaker 1: now it should feel the next thing is that it
- 30:47Speaker 1: should feel good to look at every single image if
- 30:52Speaker 1: the image represents lack. And I'm not saying that you're
- 30:56Speaker 1: gonna have a photo of something that's lacking, but if
- 30:59Speaker 1: that image triggers emotions of lack, change the image, get
- 31:06Speaker 1: a different one, or maybe for example, so say if
- 31:09Speaker 1: you're someone that's normally not being quite positive, not like
- 31:12Speaker 1: the idea of vision boarding, and you put certain things
- 31:14Speaker 1: up there that you've been trying to achieve for a
- 31:16Speaker 1: long time, like images of certain achievements that you'd like
- 31:19Speaker 1: to have or whatever. But when you look at it,
- 31:20Speaker 1: you're like, oh, it doesn't feel like I'm going to
- 31:22Speaker 1: achieve it. It just reminds me of how much I haven't achieved.
- 31:25Speaker 1: It just reminds me that it's actually not that possible.
- 31:27Speaker 1: It just pierces me off. Then don't put that image
- 31:29Speaker 1: on there, because the image, like I said, just serves
- 31:33Speaker 1: as an anchor for positive feelings around that topic, to
- 31:36Speaker 1: prime you to approach that topic differently. If that makes sense,
- 31:40Speaker 1: You're trying to prime your brain. So if every time
- 31:41Speaker 1: you look at that image you think, oh, lack, then
- 31:46Speaker 1: it serves no use on that board. You either eliminate
- 31:49Speaker 1: it altogether until you can have a better association with it,
- 31:52Speaker 1: or you alter it a little bit differently. So, for example,
- 31:54Speaker 1: if I was to approach acting differently. Now, let's say
- 31:57Speaker 1: I wanted to re enter the acting industry with a
- 31:59Speaker 1: new frame mindset. I was so associating acting with lack
- 32:04Speaker 1: and with not getting the auditions, and every time, you know,
- 32:06Speaker 1: I started, and it represented something negative in my life.
- 32:10Speaker 1: So then instead I started, I changed it. I would sorry,
- 32:15Speaker 1: I would change it to be like all right, if
- 32:18Speaker 1: if the image of winning an award or the image
- 32:21Speaker 1: of having a full time like I've like, a main
- 32:24Speaker 1: role in a film is too unbelievable for me, and
- 32:27Speaker 1: then it's going to make me feel anxious. What image
- 32:29Speaker 1: could I put? So then I would probably right now
- 32:32Speaker 1: as my scale to scale it up to then eventually
- 32:35Speaker 1: get to the bigger images. I would put things that
- 32:37Speaker 1: make me remind myself how much the things I love
- 32:40Speaker 1: about the acting industry, So I would be like, how
- 32:42Speaker 1: can I rediscover my passion for it? Well, I used
- 32:44Speaker 1: to love doing improv classes, so I'd probably do like
- 32:47Speaker 1: a photo of like improv or people that I used
- 32:49Speaker 1: to act with. I would be like, well, I really
- 32:51Speaker 1: enjoy doing like I'd just pick up the things that
- 32:53Speaker 1: I enjoyed, and I'd be like, I want more of this.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I used to love like writing with my groups though,
- 32:57Speaker 1: and then I start thinking, okay, positive memories, I feel
- 33:00Speaker 1: really good. Maybe I could do like a sketch. Maybe
- 33:01Speaker 1: I could do this, And then when you start following
- 33:03Speaker 1: the positive emotions, then you can start to scale it. However,
- 33:07Speaker 1: if you're someone that has no negative representation and you
- 33:10Speaker 1: want to go all out and you want to go
- 33:11Speaker 1: large from the get go, you're also completely welcome to
- 33:15Speaker 1: do that. I'm only saying if the image makes you
- 33:18Speaker 1: then feel this doesn't inspire me. This actually only reminds
- 33:21Speaker 1: me of what I haven't had. That image does not
- 33:24Speaker 1: belong there. So I want you to look at every
- 33:26Speaker 1: single image, and every single image on that vision board
- 33:29Speaker 1: should feel good to look at. You never want to
- 33:32Speaker 1: avoid looking at that board. It should only ever feel
- 33:36Speaker 1: warm good, It should feel right, it should feel aligned.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Okay um. And then another thing is that they all
- 33:46Speaker 1: need to be. Like I said earlier, it's got to
- 33:48Speaker 1: be believable to you. It has to be realistic. It
- 33:52Speaker 1: has to be something that you're like. I see that
- 33:55Speaker 1: for me might not be happening right now, but I
- 33:57Speaker 1: know it's possible. If one of them those images in
- 34:00Speaker 1: there is like this would never happen because visualization manifesting,
- 34:06Speaker 1: law of attraction, however you want to call it, that
- 34:08Speaker 1: all is. That's all well and good only if you
- 34:11Speaker 1: believe something is possible for you, because your perception determines
- 34:15Speaker 1: your reality. Your perception is going to determine what your
- 34:17Speaker 1: actions are. If something is not believable for me, my
- 34:20Speaker 1: actions are going to be very fucking different. So it
- 34:22Speaker 1: has to be realistic to you, to you, which brings
- 34:26Speaker 1: me to my next point of this vision board. You
- 34:29Speaker 1: only share it if you want, and if it's in
- 34:32Speaker 1: a safe space. If you've got people that are judgmental,
- 34:36Speaker 1: if you've got people that you know are going to
- 34:37Speaker 1: laugh or tear it down, do not share it with them.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Don't think how do I justify this, how to explain it?
- 34:43Speaker 1: Just don't. You can make this. This can be the
- 34:45Speaker 1: most private thing in your life. You don't want to
- 34:49Speaker 1: open it up to have to explain why, why you
- 34:51Speaker 1: want to achieve something, why you would like to have
- 34:53Speaker 1: something in your life. Sometimes that cock blocks you even
- 34:56Speaker 1: more so if you'd rather just have it as this
- 34:58Speaker 1: personal thing that it's you, yourself, fucking you, that is fine.
- 35:02Speaker 1: If you've got people that are like your absolute woo people,
- 35:05Speaker 1: your cheerleaders being like yeah, fuck yeah, we love this,
- 35:08Speaker 1: and you feel comfortable, go for gold and share it
- 35:11Speaker 1: with them. It's it's on a case by case basis.
- 35:14Speaker 1: But if you're like you but no one's gonna support me,
- 35:16Speaker 1: people are gonna love, then don't show anyone. Don't show anyone.
- 35:20Speaker 1: This is your business. You share it or you don't,
- 35:23Speaker 1: but do not open it up to people that are
- 35:25Speaker 1: negative going to be like yeah, but that's never gonna happen.
- 35:27Speaker 1: And if you've got a partner who's like maybe more
- 35:30Speaker 1: like maybe they love you, but they're more like quote
- 35:33Speaker 1: unquote realistic, as in like they don't look at expanding
- 35:36Speaker 1: in other areas, then it's okay to not show them
- 35:38Speaker 1: your vision board. You don't have to show anyone. This
- 35:40Speaker 1: is what's going on in your mind and what you
- 35:43Speaker 1: want for your future, and then people can just watch
- 35:46Speaker 1: you grow and say wow, how did they do it?
- 35:48Speaker 1: Then you can turn around being like I had my
- 35:50Speaker 1: vision board. I had a clear idea of where I
- 35:52Speaker 1: wanted to go, and because of that, I was strong
- 35:55Speaker 1: on my intention, strong on where I wanted to go.
- 35:57Speaker 1: It was an anchor for me. It' stopped me getting
- 35:59Speaker 1: distract did it stop me fucking around? I knew exactly
- 36:02Speaker 1: what I wanted. I didn't have to know exactly how
- 36:04Speaker 1: to get there, but I knew what I wanted. It
- 36:06Speaker 1: kept me on the path and now I'm here. Okay,
- 36:10Speaker 1: Now let's go a little bit deeper. So how to
- 36:13Speaker 1: practice visualization with your vision board? Okay, so when you
- 36:17Speaker 1: are when you've got your vision board, I also don't
- 36:20Speaker 1: want it to only ever be background. It's like I've
- 36:23Speaker 1: got it up on my wall. So it's in my awareness,
- 36:26Speaker 1: but I also want to intentionally spend some time and
- 36:29Speaker 1: it doesn't have to be every day, but often looking
- 36:33Speaker 1: at the photos being like, yes, I'm reminding myself of
- 36:35Speaker 1: my whye, I'm reminding myself of why I do what
- 36:37Speaker 1: I do, why I get up early every day, why
- 36:39Speaker 1: I do these things, And it makes me excited. I've
- 36:42Speaker 1: got things to look forward to. It makes me feel
- 36:45Speaker 1: good when I'm working towards these things. I look at
- 36:47Speaker 1: it and I think, this is the lifestyle I'm living from.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I'm acting as if, you know, if my life was
- 36:52Speaker 1: to be like this, and I imagined it being you know,
- 36:55Speaker 1: this is my lifestyle, my relationships, everything, my career, how
- 36:58Speaker 1: I feel going to work, how I feel in my body,
- 37:00Speaker 1: my health, my energy, my sleep, all of that. I
- 37:03Speaker 1: have to imagine what it would feel like. And when
- 37:06Speaker 1: I imagine what it feels like, I know how good
- 37:08Speaker 1: it feels. And when you have that as your like anchor,
- 37:14Speaker 1: it's a lot easier for you to stay on track
- 37:17Speaker 1: and on purpose with what you were doing. All the
- 37:20Speaker 1: little things start to have more meaning, more importance, and
- 37:23Speaker 1: the process starts becoming enjoyable because of that. So it's
- 37:27Speaker 1: not that I'm going to slog it out because I've
- 37:29Speaker 1: got to get to the end. You're still process driven,
- 37:32Speaker 1: but there's more meaning behind your process now, Like I'm
- 37:34Speaker 1: doing it because it like this matters to me. This
- 37:37Speaker 1: is why i'm you know why I get up early
- 37:39Speaker 1: because I get all of this out of it. You know,
- 37:42Speaker 1: I get to experience this I gain. If you're very
- 37:44Speaker 1: much only lived day by day, then it feels really
- 37:46Speaker 1: difficult to justify getting up when the alarm goes off
- 37:49Speaker 1: and you don't want to or justify going to that
- 37:52Speaker 1: one workout, when in reality, it's just exercising in general
- 37:57Speaker 1: over a period of time that's going to make you
- 37:58Speaker 1: feel good, not that one workout. So it's about how
- 38:01Speaker 1: do I use this to help me stay on track? Okay,
- 38:07Speaker 1: So when you're doing it, I want you to make
- 38:09Speaker 1: sure that you have at least some quiet time a
- 38:14Speaker 1: couple of times a week to go through it where
- 38:16Speaker 1: you're not being distracted, where there's not other shit going on,
- 38:18Speaker 1: you're not on your phone, just to be with those
- 38:22Speaker 1: images and really spend time in it. You're re like,
- 38:27Speaker 1: you're bringing up those positive emotions again, you're bringing up
- 38:29Speaker 1: what it feels like to have it. You're priming, priming, priming, priming, priming, Okay,
- 38:34Speaker 1: then you feel really good if you can do it
- 38:36Speaker 1: in the mornings, even better, even better because you prime
- 38:40Speaker 1: yourself for the day. You're feeling good. You're like, yes,
- 38:42Speaker 1: can't I'm fucking yes, and then you start the day. Okay.
- 38:47Speaker 1: For me, looking at things on my vision board in
- 38:50Speaker 1: the morning at the start of the day does wonders
- 38:53Speaker 1: for my mood. Wonders for my mood. It changes how
- 38:56Speaker 1: I work, It changes how I do everything in my life.
- 38:59Speaker 1: The next one is make sure that you are specific enough. Okay,
- 39:04Speaker 1: so you want to imagine like details of things. It
- 39:09Speaker 1: doesn't like I mean, some people say you've got to
- 39:11Speaker 1: get it down to every I don't think you've got
- 39:13Speaker 1: to be so detailed that every single thing. But you've
- 39:15Speaker 1: got to be specific enough. You can't be like, I
- 39:17Speaker 1: want to travel more, Okay, cool, you just walk down
- 39:20Speaker 1: the block you've technically traveled. Like, where do you want
- 39:22Speaker 1: to travel? Do you want to just do weekends away?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Do you want to do a month away? Do you
- 39:26Speaker 1: want to like what does your travel look like when
- 39:28Speaker 1: you travel? Do you like backpacking? And do you want expensive,
- 39:32Speaker 1: hectic hotels. What do you want to experience when you travel?
- 39:35Speaker 1: Do you want to be partying? Do you want to
- 39:37Speaker 1: are you a foodie? Just so get clearer on what
- 39:40Speaker 1: it looks like, what it feels like. Say it's career.
- 39:42Speaker 1: I want to make more money? How much money or
- 39:45Speaker 1: what's the minimum that you'd want to be making for
- 39:48Speaker 1: you to be like, yes, I'm like hitting what's on
- 39:50Speaker 1: my vision board? Let's get specific. I want to have
- 39:52Speaker 1: more spare time, more free time. What does free time
- 39:55Speaker 1: look like to you? And why do you want to
- 39:56Speaker 1: have free time? What do you want to do in
- 39:57Speaker 1: that time? And how much of that time? So you like,
- 40:01Speaker 1: don't say I want to be fitter, I want to
- 40:02Speaker 1: be healthier. What are the markers? What are the tangible
- 40:05Speaker 1: markers that you can measure? It's going to be measurable,
- 40:08Speaker 1: because if you can't measure it, then you don't really
- 40:10Speaker 1: you can't track it. So for every photo that you have,
- 40:13Speaker 1: just say is this specific enough? And could this be measured?
- 40:16Speaker 1: So that's why I mean, you don't have to go
- 40:17Speaker 1: on the crazy details. I don't have to know the
- 40:19Speaker 1: exact date that I'm going on this holiday and the
- 40:21Speaker 1: time of the flight and this and that. I don't
- 40:23Speaker 1: know to know that level of detail, but I do
- 40:25Speaker 1: want to know where what kind of thing it's going
- 40:28Speaker 1: to be, like, how how much? How little I've got
- 40:32Speaker 1: to be able to measure it? What are the markers?
- 40:34Speaker 1: If you want to say I want to sleep better,
- 40:35Speaker 1: what does that look like? I want to wake up
- 40:37Speaker 1: feeling refreshed. I want to get seven hours a day
- 40:40Speaker 1: a night. I want to have sleep hygiene before bed
- 40:43Speaker 1: and do that consistently. I want to you know what
- 40:46Speaker 1: I mean. Okay, Then you also want to keep it
- 40:53Speaker 1: simple in your mind. I'm not saying that the goals
- 40:56Speaker 1: have to be smaller, but like I mentioned before, simple
- 40:58Speaker 1: in the sense of yep, I can look at all
- 41:00Speaker 1: of this and all of it feels good, all of
- 41:02Speaker 1: it a lines. If one is like you're pushing pushing
- 41:05Speaker 1: against it, it doesn't feel really, you can just remove
- 41:07Speaker 1: it for now. Less is more, okay, So you can
- 41:11Speaker 1: have as much or as little. But if you're someone
- 41:13Speaker 1: that feels conflicted, or it just reminds you of all
- 41:15Speaker 1: the times that I've failed, or it reminds me that
- 41:16Speaker 1: I'm actually don't have that much money, to strip it back,
- 41:19Speaker 1: strip it back until it feels good, keep it simple,
- 41:22Speaker 1: keep it yep, everything aligns with what I want. I
- 41:25Speaker 1: feel good every time I look at it. Fine, and
- 41:27Speaker 1: then you can start adding and adding and adding, because
- 41:29Speaker 1: this vision board doesn't just have to be and you
- 41:31Speaker 1: know in December, you build this whenever you want. You
- 41:35Speaker 1: edit your vision board many many times over in your life.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Many need to ideally many times over in your life.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Remember to focus on your emotions. Right, So we're emphasizing
- 41:45Speaker 1: this feeling of satisfaction or excitement, or feeling calm, feeling
- 41:48Speaker 1: really settled, really enjoying like a slug. I've got things
- 41:52Speaker 1: on there that like really represent a slow life, like slow,
- 41:55Speaker 1: like really enjoying the slow moments markets in the morning,
- 41:58Speaker 1: like projected movies and like as with friends and things
- 42:01Speaker 1: like that. But you want to remember that positive emotions
- 42:06Speaker 1: are going to be strengthening, you know, this experience that
- 42:08Speaker 1: you're having, which then reinforces the ability to have that
- 42:11Speaker 1: experience in real life. Okay, and then I want you
- 42:15Speaker 1: to practice in moderation. Okay, it's not healthy to also
- 42:21Speaker 1: fixate so intensely on the vision board that it's on
- 42:24Speaker 1: your mind. Twenty four seven, twenty four seven twenty four seven,
- 42:26Speaker 1: because then that's preventing you from enjoying the moment that
- 42:29Speaker 1: is the only thing you're ever going to really experience,
- 42:32Speaker 1: which is the now. Right. So the vision board serves
- 42:35Speaker 1: as for me to keep me on track to the
- 42:38Speaker 1: life that I want to be living or to the
- 42:40Speaker 1: life that I am living. A lot of my life
- 42:42Speaker 1: that I'm living right now is thanks to vision boards
- 42:44Speaker 1: and things that I've written down and whatever. Most of it, okay,
- 42:47Speaker 1: but having that idea of where I'm headed kind of
- 42:50Speaker 1: keeps me on track, keeps me driven or motivated, whatever
- 42:55Speaker 1: word you want to use. Okay, But at the same time,
- 42:58Speaker 1: you have to allow for life to just unf and
- 43:00Speaker 1: allow for you to just naturally experience it. So what
- 43:04Speaker 1: I like to do is have my time looking at
- 43:07Speaker 1: the vision board. I'm looking at everything, and then I
- 43:09Speaker 1: experience it, and then I almost actively think, now I'm
- 43:12Speaker 1: releasing it, I'm letting it go. I'm releasing it, and
- 43:16Speaker 1: then I revisit this another time. It's almost an active
- 43:18Speaker 1: like you imagine letting it go. So you free yourself
- 43:22Speaker 1: from fixating, okay, And that's really, really really important. If
- 43:27Speaker 1: you do any visualization meditations, you'll often hear at the
- 43:31Speaker 1: end of the meditation saying, now let it go. Let
- 43:33Speaker 1: it go. You visualize what you want, you've thought about it,
- 43:36Speaker 1: you've thought about it, you've consolidated it in your mind,
- 43:38Speaker 1: and now let's just enter the world and let's just
- 43:41Speaker 1: do what we're going to do. Okay, because if you're
- 43:43Speaker 1: overly fixating, fixating, fixating, fixating, then you're going to struggle
- 43:47Speaker 1: to actually start taking the action, taking the bold action,
- 43:50Speaker 1: the soft action, all of that. Now, please go listen
- 43:53Speaker 1: to my episode on soft action versus bold action because
- 43:55Speaker 1: it's firstly one of my favorites. It's iconic. But secondly,
- 43:59Speaker 1: vision boarding is one of the best soft actions you
- 44:02Speaker 1: can take, and it's really good. So soft action is
- 44:04Speaker 1: basically indirect action towards a goal. They're both very important.
- 44:09Speaker 1: But the bold action is where you're physically doing the thing,
- 44:13Speaker 1: where you're going to that job interview, where you are
- 44:16Speaker 1: actually reaching out, where you're making the phone call, where
- 44:19Speaker 1: you're doing the work, where you're writing the book. Soft
- 44:23Speaker 1: action is very much I'm going to look at jobs
- 44:28Speaker 1: and see what's available. I'm going to go on Pinterest
- 44:31Speaker 1: and look at things. I'm going to build my vision board.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Soft action is very supportive of bold action, but make
- 44:36Speaker 1: sure you've got a balance of both. You want both,
- 44:38Speaker 1: can't You can't live in soft action because nothing's ever
- 44:40Speaker 1: going to happen, but to only ever do bold action
- 44:43Speaker 1: sometimes can feel like you're getting bogged down. So soft
- 44:46Speaker 1: action is the inspirational, the emotional, what makes you feel good,
- 44:50Speaker 1: what elevates you, what keeps you in that nice light happy.
- 44:53Speaker 1: And then the bold action is, let's fucking take action
- 44:55Speaker 1: and you want a nice balance for two, so go
- 44:58Speaker 1: listen to the episode. But vision boarding is a beautiful
- 45:01Speaker 1: use of soft action and it's fucking great for you.
- 45:05Speaker 1: So yeah, that is the episode for today. I want
- 45:08Speaker 1: you to start doing your vision boards and if you
- 45:12Speaker 1: want just for like, I know, I just said this
- 45:17Speaker 1: whole thing of like, don't share it with anyone, if whatever,
- 45:19Speaker 1: but if you want to share it even just with me,
- 45:22Speaker 1: or if you want to share it so I can
- 45:23Speaker 1: share it on the Self Love Club anonymously or because
- 45:27Speaker 1: I've got on my Instagram at Alexis Fernandez Breaks, I've
- 45:30Speaker 1: got a Self Love Club broadcast channel. Very cool. Love
- 45:34Speaker 1: you guys so much. I'm actually gonna post something now
- 45:35Speaker 1: because I haven't in a little bit, but that is
- 45:39Speaker 1: kind of somewhere where we could potentially share people's vision
- 45:43Speaker 1: boards anonymously and so people can get an inspiration if
- 45:46Speaker 1: you want. Like I said, if it's like no, I
- 45:49Speaker 1: don't want this getting shut down by anyone whatever. But
- 45:51Speaker 1: for me personally, for example, I shared my vision board
- 45:54Speaker 1: with you guys because I know that everyone's just a
- 45:58Speaker 1: fucking vibe and this is the best like for people
- 46:00Speaker 1: to share my vision board with. So it's on my episode,
- 46:04Speaker 1: this episode, on my socials and stuff, and it makes
- 46:06Speaker 1: me feel really good to share it. Okay, But you
- 46:09Speaker 1: if you would like to share your vision board, either
- 46:11Speaker 1: send it to me and then say yes you can
- 46:13Speaker 1: share it on the broadcast channel or this is just
- 46:16Speaker 1: for your eyes only, Alexis. If you want to share
- 46:18Speaker 1: it to the Facebook group and you're just here for it,
- 46:21Speaker 1: then absolutely Also, no haters on anyone's vision board. I
- 46:25Speaker 1: will delete the comment if there's a hater on the
- 46:27Speaker 1: vision board. But yeah, please if you want to, and
- 46:31Speaker 1: if you want to inspire other beans in the group,
- 46:33Speaker 1: I would love for you to share it if you
- 46:35Speaker 1: feel comfortable doing so. But again, like I said, this
- 46:37Speaker 1: is your fucking vision board. If you want it for
- 46:39Speaker 1: your eyes only, then have it for your eyes only.
- 46:42Speaker 1: If you think that something in there feels good to
- 46:44Speaker 1: you but embarrassing in front of other people, don't share it.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Don't share it, Okay, you keep it to yourself. It's
- 46:49Speaker 1: whatever feels good for you. Thank you so much for
- 46:52Speaker 1: listening to this episode. I hope you're feeling fucking fired
- 46:55Speaker 1: up and inspired and like ready to party. That is
- 46:59Speaker 1: all for today. I love you guys so much. As always,
- 47:01Speaker 1: remember becn't to yourself, becont your brain, don't take shit
- 47:05Speaker 1: from anyone, and especially don't take shit from yourself. Don't
- 47:08Speaker 1: ca
