- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, what are boxing fans. This is the Ropen Dope
- 0:05Speaker 1: Radio podcast. I am your host, Chris Carlson. We are
- 0:09Speaker 1: live on a Tuesday night. I hope everybody's doing okay.
- 0:15Speaker 1: We are going to obviously talk about what took place
- 0:19Speaker 1: this weekend and thank God for Sunday night. That's all
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna say. It was a great fight, much more
- 0:29Speaker 1: entertaining card in general, and a great main event. You know,
- 0:35Speaker 1: the main events on paper, you know, looked like dog shit,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like going into it. But
- 0:43Speaker 1: funny enough, we did get an upset. It was ugly,
- 0:47Speaker 1: but we got enoughset shots out to you Roy for that.
- 0:50Speaker 1: But the longest odds underdog, right, the biggest underdog as
- 0:58Speaker 1: far as in the bigger fight in the main events
- 1:01Speaker 1: and whatnot.
- 1:03Speaker 2: He showed up and did his thing and gave anyway,
- 1:10Speaker 2: I mean he gave any way a hell of a fight,
- 1:13Speaker 2: hell of a fight.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I mean, that was phenomenal. That was a great fight.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Like I said, it really saved the weekend cardanos man
- 1:28Speaker 1: shouts out to you, dude, that was great. So we're
- 1:31Speaker 1: gonna talk it through. Obviously, Tail I thought looked pretty good.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Let's hope the Boots and his fight that they've been
- 1:39Speaker 1: talking about before the fall happens. I mean between the
- 1:48Speaker 1: Hani Ramirez at least we got a knockdown in some
- 1:52Speaker 1: drama and upset with Rowley and Garcia and then but
- 1:59Speaker 1: super slow fights, right, both of them, Like compu Box,
- 2:03Speaker 1: they're setting records for compu Box, and not the records that,
- 2:07Speaker 1: by the way, that you want to set. But that
- 2:11Speaker 1: Canelo fight School Skulls, scot whatever you did that, dude,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I mean both of that fight sucked. Dude. We knew
- 2:22Speaker 1: stylistically and just you know, just a matchup wasn't intriguing,
- 2:29Speaker 1: but man, you put that thing in a ring. I mean, wow,
- 2:35Speaker 1: and you know it's not all just on the guy moving. Obviously,
- 2:40Speaker 1: you have to be able to cut the ring off,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you have to be able to land shots. But there
- 2:46Speaker 1: are times when it's very difficult to cut the ring
- 2:51Speaker 1: off and the hit and don't get hit. I'm fine
- 2:57Speaker 1: with that style, but I just believe you also have
- 3:00Speaker 1: to hit. And so, I mean, it was ugly. It
- 3:07Speaker 1: was ugly. It didn't feel like there was much people
- 3:11Speaker 1: in the building by the time. I know that it's
- 3:14Speaker 1: and it's smart for pay per view stuff. Maybe not
- 3:17Speaker 1: in this one, but you know it is, you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: to have the pay per view from Sadi in the
- 3:24Speaker 1: US time makes sense for the US time, no doubt,
- 3:30Speaker 1: not that this fight was going to do a lot
- 3:32Speaker 1: of pay per view right with the opponent, but like,
- 3:36Speaker 1: no matter what, Canelo produces some pay per view, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: even if it is you know, three three hundred and
- 3:42Speaker 1: fifty thousand or whatever. I'm not sure if that one
- 3:45Speaker 1: hit three hundred and fifty though, but most of them
- 3:47Speaker 1: are three hundred thousand and not but pretty much all
- 3:53Speaker 1: but like this one was bad, but the whole point
- 3:58Speaker 1: is doing it that that way even kills an atmosphere
- 4:02Speaker 1: that's barely even there. It kills it, you know, further
- 4:06Speaker 1: because you know, it's it's really early in the morning there. So,
- 4:14Speaker 1: But like I said, the top rank card in general,
- 4:17Speaker 1: but especially that main event really at least went out
- 4:21Speaker 1: on a great note because otherwise those two back to back,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you know, like fight cards. I mean, I don't know,
- 4:34Speaker 1: it was pretty bad, man, pretty freaking bad. Tayl I
- 4:38Speaker 1: thought did look good though, not trying to take any
- 4:40Speaker 1: credit away from him. But yeah, so we'll get into
- 4:45Speaker 1: it and we'll you know, what's next. Obviously, they announced
- 4:47Speaker 1: the Sprint Spence Crawford. Hopefully the reports are true that
- 4:54Speaker 1: it is going to be on Netflix. Let's hope. Let's hope,
- 4:58Speaker 1: because that fight could gander a whole lot of you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: attention on its own and pay per view numbers and
- 5:05Speaker 1: all that. But if you put that puppy on Netflix,
- 5:10Speaker 1: that could do a great number. So I really hope.
- 5:13Speaker 1: They said it's kind of weird. They're like, well, the
- 5:15Speaker 1: announcement's coming the television, you know, the network, the platform
- 5:21Speaker 1: is coming. So that tells me, you know, maybe they've
- 5:25Speaker 1: already figured it out. Maybe they're I don't know, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: don't know why you just want to announce it with
- 5:30Speaker 1: the television. I really hope that it's on Netflix. I mean,
- 5:37Speaker 1: I really do. I mean, if it's pay per view,
- 5:40Speaker 1: you know, it is what it is. But let's help.
- 5:43Speaker 1: We can only hope. And then there's a pluth raw
- 5:46Speaker 1: of fights this weekend. Nothing stands way out as far
- 5:52Speaker 1: as a huge fight, but there are some closely matched fights.
- 5:57Speaker 1: You know, lubit At Homes on Pro Box, Kakachi in
- 6:03Speaker 1: Wood should be a good scrap that's pretty equally matched,
- 6:08Speaker 1: So we'll definitely preview and talk about the weekend. Like
- 6:11Speaker 1: I said, it's busy, it could be. You know, it's
- 6:14Speaker 1: probably going to be better in this weekend, especially Friday
- 6:16Speaker 1: and Saturday. And you know, where does Ryan go? Ryan
- 6:22Speaker 1: Garcia go from here? Like you know, Devin Haney's talking
- 6:26Speaker 1: about that he wants a he wants to rematch anyway,
- 6:30Speaker 1: and it's like, this is another reason why you don't
- 6:36Speaker 1: do this fight. Just get right to the fight. You know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I can somewhat understand, like I mentioned, if you're building
- 6:43Speaker 1: a fight, right, you fight him on the same card,
- 6:46Speaker 1: then they fight, you know next, that's you know, that's
- 6:51Speaker 1: been done for a long long time, many decades, right,
- 6:54Speaker 1: so I don't have on paper that's no big deal,
- 6:58Speaker 1: but they are. He fought, you know, so it's like
- 7:02Speaker 1: you don't have to build anything. But now that's gone,
- 7:07Speaker 1: Now will they still do it? I don't know. Maybe
- 7:13Speaker 1: there is a possibility because then all of a sudden,
- 7:16Speaker 1: now people will be like, wait a second, Amy could
- 7:20Speaker 1: knock him out. Now. Maybe there's more anticipation because a
- 7:24Speaker 1: lot of people were thinking, just get this fight over.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Ryan's gonna knock him down a bunch of time, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: And it's over, so I don't know. We'll talk about it.
- 7:32Speaker 1: We're gonna have John on here in just a second.

- 8:57Speaker 1: gonna send a link to John to bring him into
- 9:02Speaker 1: the fold. I'll just kind of start breaking down the
- 9:07Speaker 1: card because, let's face it, I mean the round by
- 9:10Speaker 1: round stuff that I like to do. Let's be honest,
- 9:14Speaker 1: you know, we don't need much of that, but I
- 9:17Speaker 1: will do it to an extent, you know what's hal
- 9:26Speaker 1: Like I said, I actually liked him coming in with
- 9:29Speaker 1: the old school yellow checker cab, the cabby that that
- 9:34Speaker 1: was kind of cool. Barbosa was on I'm not gonna
- 9:41Speaker 1: say attack mode, but he definitely was trying to come forward,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and I just although it made for a you know,
- 9:50Speaker 1: a better fight. I guess you could say it's probably
- 9:56Speaker 1: not how he was going to win. When you go
- 9:58Speaker 1: at Lopez, that's generally what he wants. And you could
- 10:02Speaker 1: make an argument that both of them want that, you know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: but either way, first round, both of them were jabbing
- 10:11Speaker 1: fairly well. I did think Lopez landed the better lands
- 10:16Speaker 1: and it was a little busier. Barbosa landed a right
- 10:20Speaker 1: hook I'm sorry, right hand in a left hook late.
- 10:25Speaker 1: It's probably the best land of the round. Lopez jabb
- 10:29Speaker 1: into the head and stomach. Overall, he was you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: he he was more, he was more active. But honestly,
- 10:38Speaker 1: like I thought, I thought, I thought Barbosa won that
- 10:42Speaker 1: round just off of that right hand left hook. So
- 10:47Speaker 1: I gave him that round the third round, in the
- 10:51Speaker 1: fourth round, in the fifth round, I gave to Lopez
- 10:54Speaker 1: jabbin really nice two nice left hooks in, a late
- 10:59Speaker 1: right hand into the head in the fourth round, lead
- 11:03Speaker 1: right hands in you know, nice body shots as well,
- 11:09Speaker 1: a good, very good like head and upper body movement,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I thought. And then whether it was a lead right
- 11:18Speaker 1: hand or a counter right hand along with maybe you know,
- 11:23Speaker 1: one to two in there, whether it's the body or head.
- 11:27Speaker 1: That was the fifth round and a lot of the
- 11:29Speaker 1: fight for Lopez. Now, I thought the sixth round, Barbosa
- 11:36Speaker 1: countered with a right hand during an exchange and it
- 11:40Speaker 1: landed better. I really thought that was a great exchange
- 11:45Speaker 1: and once again a very close round. If you look
- 11:48Speaker 1: at the coffee box, just like I said when I
- 11:52Speaker 1: was talking about the second round where Tail landed seven
- 11:56Speaker 1: to six, that's not really a big deal. And if
- 11:59Speaker 1: someone lands the best shot, that basically does it for me? Well,
- 12:02Speaker 1: I think the sixth round was very similar nine to eight,
- 12:07Speaker 1: but I thought the best shots were actually Barbosa. That's
- 12:13Speaker 1: just kind of how I scored it there. I did
- 12:16Speaker 1: give Lopez the seventh early right hands to the head,
- 12:23Speaker 1: really nice left hook to the body and in the head. Actually. Now,
- 12:29Speaker 1: the eighth round that was I thought very competitive. I
- 12:34Speaker 1: gave it to Barbosa. I thought it might be the
- 12:38Speaker 1: right hand that did it. But you know, it was
- 12:43Speaker 1: weird because Barbosa he may have not done enough in
- 12:47Speaker 1: that round though, So that was a that was a
- 12:49Speaker 1: close round for me. On the one hand, like I said,
- 12:53Speaker 1: that nice right hand kind of kind of I'm not
- 12:57Speaker 1: gonna say shook them up, but it kind of know,
- 13:00Speaker 1: it made him pay attention, that's for sure. And then
- 13:05Speaker 1: the ninth round, you know that was back to his
- 13:10Speaker 1: jab mostly a right hand or whatever. But he really
- 13:15Speaker 1: when I'm looking at the comfy box right now, twelve
- 13:18Speaker 1: to one, he really like shut him out. I thought
- 13:23Speaker 1: he did really well in the twelfth round, or not
- 13:25Speaker 1: really well, but did well in the twelfth round two.
- 13:29Speaker 1: But the tenth round I thought was close. That could
- 13:31Speaker 1: have went either way. The eleventh and in the twelfth
- 13:35Speaker 1: I did give two tail. I just thought, you know,
- 13:40Speaker 1: in the eleventh round he was jabbing him and then
- 13:42Speaker 1: clowning a little bit, then jabbing him, and he basically
- 13:46Speaker 1: just you know, he outlanded him. Even through nine rounds
- 13:50Speaker 1: of his ninety ninety five to forty nine. You know,
- 13:57Speaker 1: the scorecards were one, eighteen, one, ten and then won
- 14:00Speaker 1: sixteen one twelve. I had it about nine to three,
- 14:03Speaker 1: maybe eight to four, but I was I was okay
- 14:07Speaker 1: with nine to three. Like I said, the eighth round
- 14:10Speaker 1: I thought was close, as was the tenth and somewhere
- 14:14Speaker 1: in between that. You know, six to ten you could
- 14:19Speaker 1: definitely give him. I gave him the second. Talking about Barbosa,
- 14:24Speaker 1: so you know, Barbosa takes his first loss overall though
- 14:28Speaker 1: it was let's see, uh one, twenty seven to seventy one.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So he definitely outlanded him, especially to the body forty
- 14:36Speaker 1: one to sixteen. In the jabs. He just he beat him,
- 14:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean. There wasn't any kind of controversy.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I did like how sharp he was in that fight. Tayo,
- 14:51Speaker 1: Like I said, some of that is style. If you
- 14:54Speaker 1: go to Tao Femo, you know it's it's usually pretty
- 15:00Speaker 1: for him because he's such a good counterpuncher, and you
- 15:03Speaker 1: know he he mentioned they actually talked about Lampley talked
- 15:07Speaker 1: about it on the on the broadcast that he only
- 15:09Speaker 1: wants two fights, uh tail Fema Lopez. He wants two fights,
- 15:14Speaker 1: he said, you know Crawford, which obviously he's not gonna
- 15:17Speaker 1: get in the fall because you know he's already booked,
- 15:21Speaker 1: but boots enis and they said, well, it's not done yet,
- 15:24Speaker 1: but so that would be phenomenal, Like, uh, you know
- 15:32Speaker 1: if Ennis had like I know, he's got a mandatory
- 15:39Speaker 1: he talked about being undisputed, but honestly, like he's got
- 15:45Speaker 1: the lineal now, so you might as well drop a
- 15:48Speaker 1: belt maybe because it wouldn't be a because you know,
- 15:52Speaker 1: the sanctioning belts they're gonna they're gonna just strip it
- 15:55Speaker 1: because it's not like a it's not a unification, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: unless they gave him some introm coming out randomly or something,
- 16:06Speaker 1: but none of that matters. You are the lineal. It
- 16:11Speaker 1: was established, and I think that really, I think Lopez
- 16:17Speaker 1: obviously has a chance to be a three time lineal.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I think that's why in the money, right, the Sadiso
- 16:24Speaker 1: back it and you put lineal, you know, in front
- 16:29Speaker 1: of that, you know, to get the loma and then
- 16:32Speaker 1: to get the tailor, and then now to take on
- 16:36Speaker 1: Boots who you know. To be fair, he just turned lineal.
- 16:39Speaker 1: But to be honest, he took Stanionis apart for the
- 16:43Speaker 1: most part. I mean, he pretty much devoured him, so
- 16:47Speaker 1: he rendered him pretty quiet. Besides, you know, a couple
- 16:51Speaker 1: of good punches in that fight. So you know, they
- 16:55Speaker 1: said they're making it when they announced these cards. This
- 16:58Speaker 1: is the fight they said they want going to lead
- 17:00Speaker 1: to and it's gonna be a lot of money for
- 17:05Speaker 1: both guys. So I really hope Boots, you know, and
- 17:11Speaker 1: he doesn't have to go up to fifty four. We
- 17:13Speaker 1: know he had a fight on the table and offer
- 17:16Speaker 1: with with Ortiz Virgual Ortiz, and he decided he wanted
- 17:22Speaker 1: to stay at forty seven. Okay, cool, But if you're
- 17:24Speaker 1: staying at forty seven, you know, being undisputed is a
- 17:29Speaker 1: great thing. It's cool, right, But if you've already established
- 17:33Speaker 1: the lineal, then don't even waste time. Drop a belt,
- 17:37Speaker 1: drop drop both belts. If you have who cares fight
- 17:41Speaker 1: this fight, I mean, if you want a big name,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and it would be you know, Lopez coming up and
- 17:50Speaker 1: is his power the same at the way class. It
- 17:53Speaker 1: doesn't feel like his power is the same even at forty.
- 17:57Speaker 1: But he's very gifted. He's explosive, he's quick, he can
- 18:01Speaker 1: counter punch, he's got good footwork. I just I mean,
- 18:06Speaker 1: that's a lot of athletic aleticism in talent in that ring.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So you just got off a fight. You know, they're
- 18:14Speaker 1: talking about the fall for that October card. Get that
- 18:19Speaker 1: fight over. There's really like unless they're just gonna screw
- 18:23Speaker 1: you randomly on the Boots side, I guess either side,
- 18:26Speaker 1: which they're not, there's just no way. I really think
- 18:32Speaker 1: either one of them can let this opportunity go by,
- 18:35Speaker 1: but especially Boots because there's just not much there. Like
- 18:39Speaker 1: Norman Junior, Yeah, it's good fight whatever his mandatory. The
- 18:43Speaker 1: mandatory is not a bad fighter. But it's just like,
- 18:47Speaker 1: if you only have an if your days are numbered
- 18:50Speaker 1: at forty seven, then fight Teyo Fema Lopez, dude, just
- 18:57Speaker 1: just go for it. That would be a dynamic fight
- 19:01Speaker 1: this fall. So that's what I'm hoping. I see, I
- 19:05Speaker 1: see John up here. We're gonna We're gonna bring him
- 19:08Speaker 1: on in. You should be joining any second now. Alrighty,
- 19:13Speaker 1: So that's where I'm at with that. Hey, John, how
- 19:17Speaker 1: you doing, Chris? How's it going tonight? Not bad, not
- 19:20Speaker 1: bad at all. It's very summer like here in Minnesota. Man,
- 19:25Speaker 1: Sunday the temperature jumped up to like eighty one, and
- 19:28Speaker 1: it's like seventies and eighties for like the next ten days. Oh,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I didn't realize that.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm still in New Jersey and it's been warm enough,
- 19:38Speaker 3: but it was just kind of dry until today started raining.
- 19:42Speaker 3: But we had one or two days like that, but
- 19:47Speaker 3: not that kind of a stretch.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Well we've had a good blend of rain and
- 19:52Speaker 1: then sun, rain and sun. So it's actually very green
- 19:55Speaker 1: for this early in May. So yeah, we've been a
- 19:58Speaker 1: little spoiled. I guess they're making up for some of
- 20:01Speaker 1: that negative eighteen that we got.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys were long ago. You know, guys always
- 20:06Speaker 3: deserve to get that.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Can. I actually saw a couple of broadcasters talking about
- 20:13Speaker 1: that are coming to Minnesota for that Golden State game
- 20:17Speaker 1: for the next couple of days, and they're like, Wow,
- 20:19Speaker 1: it's not going to be fifty and rainy. Sweet you know,
- 20:22Speaker 1: like we can come to Minnesota and actually wear shorts.
- 20:25Speaker 1: You know.
- 20:25Speaker 3: So I just saw I just saw a survey. It
- 20:30Speaker 3: was actually based on data. It was just in one
- 20:35Speaker 3: of the New Jersey papers with NJ dot Com, which
- 20:40Speaker 3: is of course they also be the online But anyway,
- 20:43Speaker 3: Minnesota came in as one of the top five states
- 20:46Speaker 3: to live in the US.
- 20:47Speaker 1: So there we go.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Congradulations. Jersey got nineteen. I think West Virginia unfortunately, as
- 20:55Speaker 3: usually get stumped on, sometimes fairly, sometimes not fairly. I
- 20:59Speaker 3: think it was forty eight or something like that. Hey,
- 21:03Speaker 3: nineteen is not bad though, No, nineteen's not bad because you.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Had Jersey gets a bad rapp but top twenty is
- 21:10Speaker 1: pretty damn good.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And the only reason Jersey got dropped to nineteen was
- 21:14Speaker 3: because of fordability, which sure, yeah, it is pretty much
- 21:18Speaker 3: where most of the griping ultimately comes from, because everything
- 21:22Speaker 3: else to me is going I think extremely well. But
- 21:26Speaker 3: you've just got the the real estate living and really
- 21:30Speaker 3: on that cost of living, it's it's really is just
- 21:33Speaker 3: real estate and rents.
- 21:34Speaker 1: It's not other things.
- 21:36Speaker 3: But admittedly that that's and property taxes, but those those
- 21:41Speaker 3: things are through the roof.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and to be honest, there's a lot of states
- 21:46Speaker 1: and cities where you know, rent and mortgage and all
- 21:51Speaker 1: that is out of hand. You know for people that
- 21:53Speaker 1: are trying, like if you got it, cool, but if
- 21:55Speaker 1: you're trying to, you know, climb up the ladder, it
- 21:59Speaker 1: is out of hand. And it's been that way for
- 22:01Speaker 1: a while. So you could really point to a lot
- 22:04Speaker 1: of states and cities.
- 22:05Speaker 3: But that you know, yeah, that's exactly right. That's the
- 22:08Speaker 3: that's the main issue in Jersey. Everything else is good.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Right, good, Well, you gotta do we gotta win something
- 22:17Speaker 1: or be top five and something because you know, it's
- 22:19Speaker 1: cold our sports always, you know, don't get to the
- 22:22Speaker 1: super Bowl or the finals and stuff, so you know,
- 22:25Speaker 1: we gotta have some positive stuff. Well, yeah, that's right.
- 22:27Speaker 1: That's why I mentioned that.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I was thinking that about two hours ago, and I
- 22:31Speaker 3: was impressed by that.
- 22:32Speaker 1: So yeah, for some reason, I didn't.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Read all the details on every state, but right, right,
- 22:38Speaker 3: Utah was number one.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Surprisingly in that. Well, we had a good run of
- 22:42Speaker 1: legislation in the last couple of years, so let's hope
- 22:45Speaker 1: that stays afloat. Speaking of staying afloat, so the first
- 22:54Speaker 1: two days, you know, heading into this weekend. We had
- 22:57Speaker 1: a lot of gripes and it's not really gripes, not
- 23:00Speaker 1: at more than fair criticism. We weren't coming out of
- 23:04Speaker 1: left field with stuff. You know, it is what it is.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And stylistically, it's not like there was a lot there
- 23:14Speaker 1: in the first two days. Stylistically maybe the heavyweight fight
- 23:18Speaker 1: I thought would be better, whatever, But I mean, when
- 23:23Speaker 1: three of the fights are like now top five compy box,
- 23:28Speaker 1: you know, not the not the positive compy box, the
- 23:31Speaker 1: negative compy box, that's hard to do like that is
- 23:36Speaker 1: very difficult to have three of them do that. We'll
- 23:41Speaker 1: start with the Friday night. We'll work our way up.
- 23:45Speaker 1: We'll start positive because at least they were throwing punches
- 23:49Speaker 1: in land in some although it was very one side
- 23:53Speaker 1: of a tale female's victory. But we'll start there. So
- 23:59Speaker 1: the set up, when I look at the setup, of
- 24:03Speaker 1: course we knew it wasn't gonna be much seating there
- 24:06Speaker 1: that that's fair, and of course you're gonna have a gate.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Of course you're gonna gate. The thing off, I wasn't
- 24:14Speaker 1: anticipating like it's so people can't stand that close to it.
- 24:20Speaker 1: That was a little strange to me because you like
- 24:23Speaker 1: have like a full on like wall almost where you
- 24:27Speaker 1: can't look over it, and you're you're asking people to
- 24:30Speaker 1: sit there for a couple hours and not be able
- 24:32Speaker 1: to do that. I did notice across the street that's
- 24:35Speaker 1: where people were kind of looking at those screens. So
- 24:39Speaker 1: the setup obviously was funky. The crowd was pretty dead,
- 24:44Speaker 1: you know, but you can't blame them, you know, because
- 24:47Speaker 1: it was what the hell was going on in the ring.
- 24:50Speaker 1: But we'll start with Teo Femo. He looked pretty sharp
- 24:56Speaker 1: when a guy comes to him, that's his thing. He
- 24:59Speaker 1: loves that. At the counters were there, he was jabbing
- 25:03Speaker 1: to the body. Could he have pressed the gas a
- 25:07Speaker 1: little bit? I believe so, But I did like his
- 25:10Speaker 1: body work. Well what did you think of Teale Femo?
- 25:13Speaker 1: And then after I was just talking about it as
- 25:15Speaker 1: you popped on with the boots and us, this is
- 25:18Speaker 1: what they told us that that would be the next
- 25:20Speaker 1: fight in the fall, and now that they don't have
- 25:25Speaker 1: per se anyway, the Garcia Hani fight, which you know,
- 25:28Speaker 1: we'll talk about that in a second. I really hope
- 25:33Speaker 1: they'd make that fight. But let's talk about what happened
- 25:35Speaker 1: in the ring. I did like the coming in the
- 25:37Speaker 1: old school yellow checker, Cabby. I did like that little effect.
- 25:42Speaker 1: That was kind of fun. But what'd you think overall,
- 25:44Speaker 1: just on the setup that you saw or whatever, maybe
- 25:48Speaker 1: some thoughts there and then and then that first fight,
- 25:50Speaker 1: because at least there was something going on in the fight.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and we you know, of course you got it
- 25:57Speaker 3: is boxing. We talk about it in the ring, but
- 26:00Speaker 3: I do want to preferace it leading into what you said,
- 26:04Speaker 3: and I think we're going to have to talk about
- 26:05Speaker 3: it a lot before the show's over. You know, the
- 26:10Speaker 3: add of the ring overshadowed it in terms of how
- 26:16Speaker 3: far the sport has fallen, not just because of this weekend,
- 26:20Speaker 3: but just like you said, talking about these issues and
- 26:24Speaker 3: then what happened over this weekend, you know, on Friday
- 26:28Speaker 3: and Saturday, and at least, I'll say, in the social
- 26:32Speaker 3: media era, it's the first time I've noticed that, even
- 26:36Speaker 3: though people might be coming from not might are coming
- 26:40Speaker 3: from different perspectives about it. It was to me in
- 26:43Speaker 3: the social media era the first time, like you saw
- 26:46Speaker 3: a consensus was like all people.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Like the sports. The sports in trouble.
- 26:54Speaker 3: It can't go on like this, So I think we
- 26:57Speaker 3: got to jump at the opportunity to discuss it because this,
- 27:02Speaker 3: like I said, at least in the social media, I mean,
- 27:04Speaker 3: you always had people talking about problems with boxing for decades.
- 27:08Speaker 3: I agree with that it declined and got worse the
- 27:12Speaker 3: sport in terms of popularity and some of the stuff
- 27:15Speaker 3: going on in the ring, not all of it, and
- 27:18Speaker 3: you know, the promotional issues, the alphabets, all that, but
- 27:21Speaker 3: it just seemed to crystallize this weekend where now you
- 27:24Speaker 3: have a majority of people who look at things from
- 27:27Speaker 3: all different angles saying this is horrible. It can't go long.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Boxing's going nowhere like this. So let's get into the
- 27:35Speaker 3: ring now, like a team of tia femo and I
- 27:39Speaker 3: think since we're going to go over each fight, it's
- 27:41Speaker 3: good to highlight as go along, because this to me
- 27:44Speaker 3: really added to you know, how dire the situation is.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Like you know tia Fimo Lopez, you know, he had
- 27:54Speaker 3: a decorated American amateur career. You know, he didn't make
- 27:57Speaker 3: the Olympic team, so he ended up you know, fighting
- 28:00Speaker 3: for you know, Honduras. But he was a decorated American
- 28:05Speaker 3: amateur that just fell short the Olympic team. Why I
- 28:07Speaker 3: want to mention that because that's a theme, that's an
- 28:09Speaker 3: unfortunate theme. In other words, we're talking about American fighters here,
- 28:15Speaker 3: us sensibilities, like we've been calling out for. Not that
- 28:18Speaker 3: we like these matchups that much. We did not, and
- 28:21Speaker 3: we were clear about that before the card. But like
- 28:24Speaker 3: you know, these are arguably the best, you know, some
- 28:27Speaker 3: of the best the Americans have to offer in terms
- 28:29Speaker 3: of pedigree, some of the guys for this Araban market,
- 28:33Speaker 3: and that includes t Ya Femo. So he did perform
- 28:36Speaker 3: the best out of him. You know, like you said,
- 28:39Speaker 3: if that leads to an NS fight, heck that at
- 28:41Speaker 3: this stage, that's one of the best things you can do.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Because NS came off performance not like these this weekend
- 28:49Speaker 3: where he took care of business against a tough opponent
- 28:52Speaker 3: even though he was heavily favored but still standing in
- 28:55Speaker 3: US no joke. You know, I'm a tough opponent and
- 28:58Speaker 3: he really dominated him. So, you know, Ta Femo, I
- 29:03Speaker 3: think Ta Femo is much more talented than than Barbosa,
- 29:07Speaker 3: and you know, ultimately that made the difference just because
- 29:12Speaker 3: in most fights, you know, Barbosa he doesn't have any pop,
- 29:17Speaker 3: but he but he turns up the volume, but it's
- 29:20Speaker 3: kind of funny now like he hasn't for whatever reason
- 29:23Speaker 3: when he you know, like it's like he hasn't quite
- 29:26Speaker 3: been able to do it like he was, even though
- 29:28Speaker 3: this is his first loss just very recently now in
- 29:31Speaker 3: like his last couple of fights. But his trademark, but
- 29:34Speaker 3: then sometimes that is because the opposition gets better, let's
- 29:37Speaker 3: face it. So you know, his trademark, you really can
- 29:41Speaker 3: look back now probably against lesser opposition, is just really
- 29:46Speaker 3: being able to turn up you know, does everything okay,
- 29:49Speaker 3: no pop, but turns up the volume, you know, and
- 29:52Speaker 3: and we'll do it. But so that would have been
- 29:55Speaker 3: his ticket here, and you know, ta Femo having the pop,
- 30:00Speaker 3: the talent, the speed enough to get a clear victory.
- 30:05Speaker 3: You know, that was good, but not in a thrilling fight.
- 30:08Speaker 3: But then this was the one that on paper, odds wise,
- 30:12Speaker 3: going into the weekend was the closest, right yet tia Fimo,
- 30:18Speaker 3: you know, performed better than the others because even even
- 30:22Speaker 3: though our last fight at the weekend, you have in
- 30:25Speaker 3: a way in a thriller, but he's in a life
- 30:28Speaker 3: and death with a guy who's he's a minus five
- 30:31Speaker 3: thousand over, so let's not Some people were kind of
- 30:35Speaker 3: confused at it.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Let's not.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Excitement wise, the performance and horror was great, but like
- 30:43Speaker 3: that's not you know, we can get to that last
- 30:45Speaker 3: but that way you want, So tia Fimo not having
- 30:49Speaker 3: any of those kind of problems and getting a clear victory.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Obviously everybody thought he won the fight, but didn't score
- 30:58Speaker 3: spectacular ko or any thing. I believe, you know, he's
- 31:02Speaker 3: shown the poppy. I don't believe he's lost it, but
- 31:06Speaker 3: he's not. He's not getting the he's not getting the
- 31:09Speaker 3: KOs or hurting people.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Yeah, barely. He used to.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Right knockdowns, and I don't think that's just from like
- 31:17Speaker 3: I said, the one thirty five to one forty.
- 31:19Speaker 1: To me, that's meaningless.
- 31:20Speaker 3: So something else there. You know, it kind of goes
- 31:26Speaker 3: with the weekend. Just we're not we're not seeing somebody,
- 31:30Speaker 3: and that part you can give in a way, you know,
- 31:32Speaker 3: we're not we're not seeing some of these fighters just
- 31:35Speaker 3: really really going for it and try and impress like that.
- 31:39Speaker 3: But now the atmosphere I've said going in so it's
- 31:43Speaker 3: not hindsight or anything. In the New York, New Jersey
- 31:47Speaker 3: area now was last Friday, you know, thirty five miles
- 31:50Speaker 3: from where the ring was the idea of this card
- 31:53Speaker 3: is to capitalize on kind of the old playbook. You're
- 31:57Speaker 3: in the New York metro area doing it in a
- 31:59Speaker 3: different way, if course, but getting the free media, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 3: the local news stations coming out, the buzz in the area.
- 32:08Speaker 3: You know, the old newspapers were online now, but they
- 32:12Speaker 3: do still print the hard copies every day here. And
- 32:15Speaker 3: you know, boxing fan base generally does I think the
- 32:19Speaker 3: most reliable stats are you know, et skews a bit older.
- 32:23Speaker 3: So you can't totally ignore that because a lot of times,
- 32:27Speaker 3: and I've seen that personally, they're still catering to those
- 32:30Speaker 3: kind of fans, at least to a degree. So here's
- 32:32Speaker 3: what I'm getting to. I actually couldn't believe in a
- 32:34Speaker 3: negative sense the day of the fight. I even you know,
- 32:38Speaker 3: posted an X about it because it was so glaring
- 32:40Speaker 3: to be I mean, there was nothing that I saw.
- 32:42Speaker 3: And I'm not saying I see every single thing. You know,
- 32:45Speaker 3: I'm going in and do it, but like there was,
- 32:47Speaker 3: nobody was talking about nobody made said anything about it.
- 32:52Speaker 3: I saw, at least what I saw, you know, I
- 32:54Speaker 3: saw nothing pop up on local news in those hard
- 32:58Speaker 3: copies that still come out in the New York the
- 33:00Speaker 3: daily news, which are old boxing papers, not anymore. But
- 33:05Speaker 3: you know, historically you always see the back pages, you know,
- 33:08Speaker 3: historically going back decades. Nothing, I mean, not even an article,
- 33:12Speaker 3: you know, even even nowadays you would normally get a
- 33:16Speaker 3: little quarter of a page run. And I checked the
- 33:18Speaker 3: online versions too, you know, I don't stay in the past,
- 33:21Speaker 3: so check both online versions. Nothing, I mean nothing. And
- 33:26Speaker 3: this is in the center of Times Square. Everybody else.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I had no idea they were gonna wall off the
- 33:34Speaker 3: view of the fights from in Times Square, which to
- 33:38Speaker 3: me makes no sense, right, so you look, so you
- 33:42Speaker 3: lost that. So the idea of getting this like peripheral buzz,
- 33:46Speaker 3: which is the idea when you have fights in a
- 33:49Speaker 3: major metro area like New York City, you know, sixteen
- 33:54Speaker 3: people or so in the metro area, there was just
- 33:57Speaker 3: no buzz, nothing peripheral, which would have been the whole
- 34:01Speaker 3: idea of it, especially for dizone because as we said
- 34:05Speaker 3: correctly many times and we'll say it again, because it
- 34:09Speaker 3: applied to this weekend, and why do you need that
- 34:12Speaker 3: More than ever, the zone doesn't have a broadcast network
- 34:16Speaker 3: where they can run ads without having to buy and
- 34:20Speaker 3: it actually popped up by accident, but I thought it
- 34:24Speaker 3: was really telling to me. Also, on the day of
- 34:27Speaker 3: the fight, on social media, I saw a di zone
- 34:30Speaker 3: ad for the fight pop up that it showed where
- 34:34Speaker 3: I was purchased from from Double Click, which is which
- 34:38Speaker 3: is an online media ad company. Okay, so that I
- 34:43Speaker 3: could see that knowing my you know what I know
- 34:46Speaker 3: about media. I mean that they had purchased those ads.
- 34:49Speaker 3: I'm not saying that's like bad, but like so they
- 34:52Speaker 3: didn't want to go just like we're saying they couldn't
- 34:55Speaker 3: put that money out for TV. So you know, they
- 34:58Speaker 3: were probably buying geographical ads on like Double Click. And
- 35:02Speaker 3: I'm here in Jersey, so that's why I'm getting it
- 35:04Speaker 3: and I'm not. I don't say that's bad, but like there,
- 35:07Speaker 3: it was kind of like to me, like they're subbing
- 35:10Speaker 3: in you know you would want that, and TV you
- 35:12Speaker 3: wouldn't mean you wouldn't want to do that. But just
- 35:15Speaker 3: just nothing on TV. I'm hearing nothing popping through on
- 35:18Speaker 3: my streaming radio where you're getting local you know, if
- 35:23Speaker 3: they get local coman, just just nothing anywhere. Nobody talks
- 35:26Speaker 3: going out, Nobody mentioned a word. I didn't hear one
- 35:29Speaker 3: word about it, so I could see it would be.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Like a little half a column where it just stated
- 35:35Speaker 1: it or something, you know, like.
- 35:37Speaker 3: That's normally what you get at the point. Even today,
- 35:40Speaker 3: you would get one of the sports writers or a
- 35:43Speaker 3: lower sports writer because they laid off all the regular
- 35:45Speaker 3: boxing writers years within the last ten years, the last
- 35:49Speaker 3: of them. But you would have something like that utshell
- 35:53Speaker 3: or something. And sometimes they even they're pretty savvy like that,
- 35:56Speaker 3: every once in a while they might bring back one
- 35:58Speaker 3: of the the old writers like that is just the
- 36:00Speaker 3: guest contract. Sure, alumn for that. I've seen that before too,
- 36:05Speaker 3: Like Tony Page would pop up who was present to
- 36:08Speaker 3: boxing writers and he used to do the local sports
- 36:10Speaker 3: talk overnight and stuff. You know, good writer, good good commentator.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Sometimes you would see somebody like him pop up, or
- 36:19Speaker 3: you know, I see George Will still out there like
- 36:21Speaker 3: an ax. He used to write boxing for the Post
- 36:23Speaker 3: when they still did it. But there's but just something
- 36:27Speaker 3: there was nothing. There was just an online or really
- 36:31Speaker 3: not exaggerating like the worst I've ever seen it, because
- 36:35Speaker 3: you know, when tia Fimo, I think it was when
- 36:37Speaker 3: he was fighting Josh Taylor, which was a big fight,
- 36:40Speaker 3: you know, in recent years, you saw some of that,
- 36:43Speaker 3: you saw some people talking about it, or you heard
- 36:46Speaker 3: some people talking about so anyway, not nothing nothing on that.
- 36:49Speaker 3: So and you know Tina Femo and New York guy too,
- 36:52Speaker 3: so he's even local in terms of you know, usually
- 36:55Speaker 3: you get that spin tied in. It just just really
- 36:59Speaker 3: really was worst I've ever seen.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I heard it. I heard an ad going to work
- 37:06Speaker 1: on a basketball podcast, I believe it was. That's the
- 37:11Speaker 1: only thing I saw in general. Ever, I did notice
- 37:15Speaker 1: that on one of the direct TV stream UH sports channels,
- 37:20Speaker 1: just a random sports channel, that they were playing Canelo's fights,
- 37:25Speaker 1: kind of like Showtime would do that. Like on CBS
- 37:28Speaker 1: Sports Network. They showed Glovekin Canelo Glovekin one and two,
- 37:35Speaker 1: and I watched a chunk of it, but I didn't
- 37:38Speaker 1: see an ad for it. But I can't say that
- 37:40Speaker 1: I watched the whole fight, so maybe it came up
- 37:42Speaker 1: at some point, but you think that'd be right on
- 37:44Speaker 1: the screen, Like hey, just so you know. Another thing.
- 37:48Speaker 1: So I couldn't buy the bundle. I couldn't buy it,
- 37:53Speaker 1: so I wasn't going to you know, I checked to
- 37:57Speaker 1: see if I could. I couldn't buy the damn and
- 38:00Speaker 1: then they kept having on Twitter, they kept saying link
- 38:04Speaker 1: in the bio and so you have you have an
- 38:07Speaker 1: extra link too, like how are you going to be
- 38:11Speaker 1: a subscriber? And it's just not right on the app,
- 38:14Speaker 1: you know. It's like you'd have the one paper, one paper,
- 38:18Speaker 1: and then you have the bundle, you know, or the
- 38:21Speaker 1: option when you're about to buy it you can bundle
- 38:23Speaker 1: it or something. It went. I paged through the whole thing,
- 38:28Speaker 1: is like there's there's no bundle here, Like it's it's
- 38:33Speaker 1: just maddening. It's it's it's I just talk about unprofessionalism.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Like we know, it's sports media. The professionalism is is
- 38:43Speaker 1: you know, decreased, you know, majorly. But I mean this
- 38:47Speaker 1: I just don't I don't get it.
- 38:48Speaker 3: I got you know, I got to tie it in
- 38:51Speaker 3: because it said and you know a lot of people
- 38:52Speaker 3: are on it already. But you know, because I I
- 38:55Speaker 3: really am protective of it because of the history and
- 38:58Speaker 3: I've always advocated it's good for the sport, because of
- 39:02Speaker 3: the history, to keep it going.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I'd rather have it than die.
- 39:04Speaker 3: But yeah, they turned the ring like like just even
- 39:08Speaker 3: the ring, you know, like like they were putting up
- 39:12Speaker 3: like posts all over social media stuff in the ring
- 39:15Speaker 3: during the fights, like that had zero credibility whatsoever. Like
- 39:21Speaker 3: this fight, you know, this fight's great, come by a
- 39:24Speaker 3: review Like it's like like totally disgrace, totally realms.
- 39:29Speaker 1: These are all three fifty to fifty.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Fights right right like it just like it totally disgraced
- 39:36Speaker 4: the ring name, like you trashed it, like like it
- 39:39Speaker 4: was so dumb there marketing, Like in other words, if
- 39:43Speaker 4: you're gonna do this, you keep the ring name like
- 39:48Speaker 4: it should be fully credible.
- 39:50Speaker 3: But you'll know what I mean, like you keep the
- 39:52Speaker 3: ring name semi credible. You don't throw the ring name
- 39:56Speaker 3: and disgrace it like all this ridiculous.
- 40:01Speaker 1: You know, they have the ring belt in the U
- 40:03Speaker 1: bank ben you see that, like is this intramlineal or
- 40:10Speaker 1: what is this?
- 40:11Speaker 3: You know exactly? And then they put it alongside the
- 40:13Speaker 3: alphabet stuff. They totally I mean it's like boxing marketing
- 40:18Speaker 3: one oh one. Yeah, you wouldn't do what they did.
- 40:23Speaker 3: I mean, really, any anybody who has any historical knowledge
- 40:26Speaker 3: or and at least been a marketing knowledge could it.
- 40:30Speaker 3: It's almost like a like a twenty year old kid
- 40:33Speaker 3: or something, right, and I'm not saying young people sometimes
- 40:37Speaker 3: don't know more than older people with modern stuff. But
- 40:39Speaker 3: like that part of it, you don't use the ring
- 40:42Speaker 3: like for that, you know, right, you do something else
- 40:45Speaker 3: for that, Like.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they bought that account, switched the ring to that,
- 40:49Speaker 1: and then now it can't get half the impressions that
- 40:52Speaker 1: dude was getting. You know, Yeah, why you just hire
- 40:55Speaker 1: the guy to run the account then, you know, like
- 40:58Speaker 1: if you're already gonna buy the account, just pay him
- 41:00Speaker 1: off and let him do his thing.
- 41:02Speaker 3: You know, I don't know, man, it just just I mean,
- 41:07Speaker 3: you're not even being unfair. It's just there was just
- 41:10Speaker 3: so much awfulness to just make up a word, just
- 41:14Speaker 3: so much awfulness, Like.
- 41:15Speaker 1: We want to talk about what goes out of the ring. Yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 1: and I was trying.
- 41:20Speaker 3: I was bending over backwards because there's stuff I don't
- 41:24Speaker 3: even necessarily want to mention some of the names, but
- 41:26Speaker 3: like because there are some stuff in the past they've done,
- 41:30Speaker 3: and people who you know, wrote for newspapers who you're look,
- 41:33Speaker 3: we know newspapers have had crooked episodes, just like anything
- 41:38Speaker 3: else in human society, but without understand stood it's just
- 41:43Speaker 3: it kind of is the same. Like you know, in law,
- 41:46Speaker 3: you're supposed to file a code of ethics. I mean, like,
- 41:49Speaker 3: are there crooked lawyers? Of course, there's plenty of and
- 41:52Speaker 3: you know, do all lawyers file follow all the ethics
- 41:55Speaker 3: rules when they're supposed to know? But like that's what
- 41:58Speaker 3: I mean, Like journalists, like you're writing for a newspaper,
- 42:00Speaker 3: people who have written for major newspapers, you're supposed to
- 42:04Speaker 3: be having followed a journalistic code of ethics when you
- 42:08Speaker 3: wrote for a major newspaper. And then they're they're putting
- 42:12Speaker 3: stuff up like for the Ring in Turkey, like they're
- 42:15Speaker 3: just saying this nonsense, disgracing themselves, like over this weekend,
- 42:20Speaker 3: and even I was just like, because, like I said,
- 42:23Speaker 3: wanting to have some newspaper writers still involved, I'm like,
- 42:27Speaker 3: what are these guys doing? I mean, we know why
- 42:29Speaker 3: they're doing it, but it just was pathetic. It really
- 42:32Speaker 3: was pathetic. I mean, just like disgracing themselves real quick.
- 42:39Speaker 1: He obviously got knocked off showtime, but years ago. But
- 42:45Speaker 1: what do you think of Tarvor as a broadcaster? I
- 42:49Speaker 1: liked him a lot.
- 42:50Speaker 3: I liked him quite a bit when he first started
- 42:52Speaker 3: out and anything before he got kicked off. I know,
- 42:56Speaker 3: I thought he kind of leveled off to me, like, yeah,
- 43:00Speaker 3: he's not bad, but yeah, I thought when I heard
- 43:03Speaker 3: him early on like show time and stuff before I
- 43:07Speaker 3: liked him. Yeah, I did too, and you know, I
- 43:10Speaker 3: thought he could go on a real assent. But but
- 43:12Speaker 3: even before he got bounced, I kind of felt like
- 43:14Speaker 3: he leveled off. So, yeah, he's not terrible. I still
- 43:17Speaker 3: don't think he's terrible, but right, right, he kind of
- 43:20Speaker 3: he kind of leveled off to me. Yeah, I thought
- 43:24Speaker 3: he was gonna end up being better. I thought he's
- 43:25Speaker 3: gonna end up being better.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good way to put it. That's a
- 43:28Speaker 1: good way to put it. And because there's still this
- 43:31Speaker 1: that was spectacular, it's like yeah, right, right, you know,
- 43:38Speaker 1: and then they're going to Tyson and it's just like
- 43:40Speaker 1: I didn't even want to go there. So it's just
- 43:43Speaker 1: it's so you know this so hany, Basically we know
- 43:53Speaker 1: he moves, but I thought this was excessive for him,
- 43:57Speaker 1: even he well yeah you know what I mean, even
- 43:59Speaker 1: for him because.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Ramirez is not and Ramirez is not a great puncher,
- 44:05Speaker 3: right yeah, yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Yep, it was like excessively move, not really throw or
- 44:14Speaker 1: land a lot, you landed some good jabs or whatever,
- 44:17Speaker 1: and then Ramirez, you know, not throwing much deep in
- 44:20Speaker 1: those first couple of rounds when HAINI was really not
- 44:23Speaker 1: doing shit. It's like he couldn't get it off. But
- 44:26Speaker 1: then it's that's tough to get off. But I saw
- 44:28Speaker 1: like jab move, clinch, you know that that's about the
- 44:33Speaker 1: rhythm of it. I mean, when you look, seventy punches
- 44:38Speaker 1: landed in a twelve round fight to forty, neither of them,
- 44:44Speaker 1: meaning claim, really came close to three hundred and two
- 44:48Speaker 1: seventy nine. I guess thrown that they were even on
- 44:55Speaker 1: the jab basically, I didn't even realize that. But I mean,
- 44:59Speaker 1: it's just did anybody land Okay, the closest they got
- 45:04Speaker 1: was nine, so nobody broke Well, it makes sense nobody
- 45:09Speaker 1: broke double digits. Maybe that nine wasn't actual ten. But
- 45:12Speaker 1: I mean, even for Hani's standards, at least he'll pump
- 45:18Speaker 1: the jab and win the realm pretty cleanly in his fights.
- 45:21Speaker 1: You know, this is just horrendous. This is it? Is
- 45:26Speaker 1: it that he's worried about getting knocked down now even
- 45:30Speaker 1: more now because he wouldn't move this much. I mean,
- 45:35Speaker 1: this was excessive even for Hanni. Yeah, I think.
- 45:38Speaker 3: It's gotta be some of that, because you know he
- 45:42Speaker 3: was he was hurt multiple times against Ryan Garcia, and
- 45:45Speaker 3: we'll get to that probably next But you know, that's
- 45:49Speaker 3: the one hindsight I'm gonna pull there for myself, is
- 45:54Speaker 3: you know when and I have analyzed this other times
- 45:56Speaker 3: and I kind of ignored it on this one. I mean,
- 45:58Speaker 3: when the guy gets caught for PD and then he's
- 46:00Speaker 3: probably off him for the next fight, he very well
- 46:03Speaker 3: might be very well not be may not be bringing
- 46:06Speaker 3: the same power and speed at STANFORDA.
- 46:09Speaker 1: That he's been written.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's the only thing I'll give Haney there
- 46:15Speaker 3: is you know, he might have taken some damage in
- 46:17Speaker 3: that fight, legitim. I mean, that's not an excuse. Like
- 46:20Speaker 3: a guy on peds and just juiced up and he
- 46:25Speaker 3: was getting hurt. It might have taken some toll. But
- 46:29Speaker 3: the problem here is, I mean, Ramirez is not a
- 46:31Speaker 3: puncher and his performance was just dreadful. And you know,
- 46:38Speaker 3: this was the opening where I wasn't picking Ramirez, but
- 46:43Speaker 3: like he was a huge underdog and I thought, I
- 46:46Speaker 3: thought there was a scenario where hany fights like this.
- 46:51Speaker 3: But what I didn't see in this scenario was like
- 46:55Speaker 3: I thought, I thought like Ramirez would just be like
- 46:58Speaker 3: throwing and missing.
- 46:59Speaker 1: But like are Russian.
- 47:02Speaker 3: Throne and maybe stealing side grab him, rough them up,
- 47:06Speaker 3: but he just came with nothing. And want to get
- 47:09Speaker 3: back to my point, which is a theme for the
- 47:10Speaker 3: Friday Night, which is really reminding us how bad this is.
- 47:14Speaker 3: You know, Haney at a very young age, a decorated
- 47:18Speaker 3: US amateur, fought Ryan Garcia six times in the Amateurs.
- 47:22Speaker 3: You know, I mentioned it because they're they're that area
- 47:26Speaker 3: part of the time too, and remember when it was
- 47:29Speaker 3: hosted down there. One of the times they fought was
- 47:31Speaker 3: in Charleston, West Virginia and the you know US Junior Championships.
- 47:35Speaker 3: It's on YouTube, and that was the one that Garcia
- 47:39Speaker 3: got a decision. But again this this hani you know,
- 47:43Speaker 3: Devin Haney at a very young age, but a very
- 47:45Speaker 3: decorated US amateur and he's fighting Jose Ramirez, who was
- 47:50Speaker 3: a US Olympian. Yeah, I mean, these are these are
- 47:54Speaker 3: Americans who should be like, you know, carrying the next
- 47:58Speaker 3: wave or yeah he and marketable, and these are just
- 48:02Speaker 3: dreadful performances. I mean, you know, maybe all right, maybe
- 48:06Speaker 3: Ramirez is done, but but you know, the guy US
- 48:10Speaker 3: Olympian and Hani a decorated amateur. I mean, and then
- 48:13Speaker 3: we're getting compu box records for amount of punches thrown.
- 48:19Speaker 3: You can't blame that on no crowd. Come on, this
- 48:21Speaker 3: is just read. I mean these are you know, American guys.
- 48:29Speaker 3: I mean, this is you know, in the US, just dreadful.
- 48:34Speaker 3: I mean, just like everybody's saying, I know everybody's agreeing
- 48:37Speaker 3: on this one. I mean, just just dreadful. And then
- 48:40Speaker 3: you know, the Hans after the fight. Look, I'll give
- 48:43Speaker 3: Devin Haney. He might have got it and it is unfair,
- 48:46Speaker 3: like I don't blame him for the suit there. He
- 48:49Speaker 3: might have gotten damaged by a guy who was on peds.
- 48:52Speaker 3: He probably did, but.
- 48:54Speaker 1: You know that should be no contest. That's great, that's fine,
- 48:57Speaker 1: no problem. But you still took the damage, you know, yeah,
- 49:00Speaker 1: and not getting that back. But then like after the fight,
- 49:03Speaker 1: you know, I think the hainis like, are somewhat delusional,
- 49:07Speaker 1: Like hey, look, you know there there may only be
- 49:11Speaker 1: one Floyd Mayweather, you know, like you're you're not this
- 49:14Speaker 1: and I'm not. And look Mayweather and some of those
- 49:17Speaker 1: performances and he was still totally out boxing the guys,
- 49:19Speaker 1: including Canelo, and everybody agreed he won the fight, you know,
- 49:23Speaker 1: except one judge who have But just getting back to
- 49:27Speaker 1: the point that like, you know, you're not You're not
- 49:31Speaker 1: Floyd Mayweather.
- 49:32Speaker 3: Like you know, we're not even in that era of
- 49:34Speaker 3: boxing ten years ago where you're getting that kind of
- 49:37Speaker 3: exposure anyway, like showtime, you know, HBO, et cetera, with
- 49:41Speaker 3: them promoing pay per views. I mean, like what I'm
- 49:43Speaker 3: getting at is like them thinking like, well, you know,
- 49:47Speaker 3: we're we're just being hate after the fight. We're just
- 49:49Speaker 3: being hated on and we're gonna we're gonna move forward,
- 49:52Speaker 3: and you're just hating.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Thought Floyd was boring. It's like, name me a fight
- 49:57Speaker 1: that went twelve rounds where.
- 49:58Speaker 3: He landed under one hundred punches exactly, you know, and
- 50:02Speaker 3: he would be making the other guy legitimately missed not landing.
- 50:05Speaker 3: It's just not the guy not throwing, just not landing.
- 50:09Speaker 3: And you know that's what I mean. Like this, Hey, guys,
- 50:12Speaker 3: you know that you're not You're not Floyd Mayweather. This
- 50:17Speaker 3: is this is garbage. You're not You're you're not getting
- 50:20Speaker 3: marketed from this, and you know you're you're not you're
- 50:24Speaker 3: not rebounding.
- 50:26Speaker 1: From this easily in twenty twenty five.
- 50:28Speaker 3: I mean you're building up there. There's you don't have
- 50:31Speaker 3: the exposure to build a build a following with that
- 50:35Speaker 3: kind of style just because of your persona or something
- 50:38Speaker 3: like that. You know, you may they may have thought
- 50:40Speaker 3: that even five years ago. It's not happening. So you know,
- 50:44Speaker 3: you fight like this and and you know this is
- 50:48Speaker 3: this kind of ties into with you know, and we
- 50:52Speaker 3: still got one more of these to go, but like, yeah,
- 50:54Speaker 3: we're horrible, like but it's it's probably the point to
- 50:58Speaker 3: mention it, Chris, because I've said this lot and I've
- 51:00Speaker 3: always believed it. I think it's a good week to
- 51:03Speaker 3: point it out. This is why, in my view, you
- 51:07Speaker 3: have to especially if there's a real title involved, like
- 51:10Speaker 3: a lineal you know, or somebody that everybody's recognizing as
- 51:14Speaker 3: the champ basically, or a legit champ. You can't, like
- 51:17Speaker 3: like this wasn't that situation, but like you can't, but
- 51:21Speaker 3: we've seen it a lot. You can't have challengers coming
- 51:24Speaker 3: into fights like this and then you know, we got
- 51:27Speaker 3: that on the Saturday Night with Canell, like you know,
- 51:30Speaker 3: you know, dancing all over the place, not throwing and
- 51:33Speaker 3: then hoping they're going to get their hand raised at
- 51:36Speaker 3: the end, and then some people saying, oh, I think
- 51:38Speaker 3: he outboxed.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Them when he ran all around the ring. You can't.
- 51:43Speaker 3: You can't have a sport where you're going to have fights,
- 51:47Speaker 3: especially at the at the top level, for a lineal title,
- 51:51Speaker 3: for a big fight where everybody's recognizing a champion, and
- 51:55Speaker 3: have challengers come in and fight like you know any
- 51:58Speaker 3: of the some of these guys we saw, you know,
- 52:01Speaker 3: Friday and Saturday, and they're going to get a decision.
- 52:04Speaker 3: You can't. You can't have a sport like you've said,
- 52:08Speaker 3: and I totally agree. Look, ultimately, it's about entertaining, it's pride,
- 52:12Speaker 3: it's still prize fighting, so you can't. You can't sell
- 52:16Speaker 3: a sport like that. So I've always said that's what
- 52:19Speaker 3: I do. Believe. You've got to slant to the aggressor.
- 52:22Speaker 3: And if a guy's somewhat ineffective, but they're moving forward
- 52:25Speaker 3: trying to throw punches and it's close and somebody else
- 52:28Speaker 3: is running around the ring, right, I think it's got
- 52:31Speaker 3: to go to the aggressor. And I'm not saying that
- 52:33Speaker 3: changed any of these decisions.
- 52:34Speaker 1: This weekend.
- 52:35Speaker 3: But we see this come up a lot, and it's
- 52:40Speaker 3: worth I think it's worth throwing it now because there's
- 52:43Speaker 3: people that give him a pass. Not all, but like
- 52:45Speaker 3: you know that that's to me, like Bivoll doesn't win
- 52:48Speaker 3: those two fights against Better BF. To me, sure, you know, yeah,
- 52:52Speaker 3: you want to make it close. I could. I even
- 52:53Speaker 3: had a clothe, but no, he doesn't win either of them.
- 52:56Speaker 3: And you've got people that want to give him a pass,
- 52:59Speaker 3: and he's landing.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Like probably sixty more shots and you're saying that, you
- 53:03Speaker 1: know what I mean, like at least there was something,
- 53:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I'm not saying.
- 53:07Speaker 3: I'm not saying he was down on this level, no,
- 53:10Speaker 3: but you're standing that's how his style, his stile, his
- 53:14Speaker 3: style is definitely in that range. I mean, you have
- 53:17Speaker 3: the guy in the second fight say afterward, which he
- 53:21Speaker 3: was being honest, but it totally fits the way he fights.
- 53:23Speaker 3: He thought in the first fight he made a mistake
- 53:26Speaker 3: that he tried to land some hard shots early against Better.
- 53:29Speaker 3: He would have been better off just pitter padding right,
- 53:33Speaker 3: doing that for twelve rounds rather than actually like try
- 53:35Speaker 3: to land a hard shot and put it in here.
- 53:37Speaker 3: So that's the guy's own words, you know, but I'm
- 53:42Speaker 3: diverting just that. You know, we had we had a
- 53:45Speaker 3: lot of that kind of stuff this weekend on a
- 53:47Speaker 3: worst level. I agree with you, and you're not not
- 53:50Speaker 3: saying Bivol didn't do even more, but.
- 53:53Speaker 1: No, but if there can be improvement in that needed,
- 53:57Speaker 1: then it shows you really how bad this was.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Comp CompuBox record, CompuBox records for the for the for
- 54:05Speaker 3: the worst outputs.
- 54:06Speaker 1: I mean you had three of them. Yeah, it's right,
- 54:12Speaker 1: Rolely lands a really beautiful shot with the left hook
- 54:18Speaker 1: early in the second round, drops them. But you know,
- 54:25Speaker 1: another just really slow fight, maybe like Garcia. Let's say
- 54:30Speaker 1: I'm looking at it right now, maybe two out of
- 54:32Speaker 1: the three out of the first five rounds you could
- 54:34Speaker 1: give them, and it was more like you know, Roly
- 54:39Speaker 1: from maybe the fifth or sixth to the eighth or whatever.
- 54:42Speaker 1: He was doing okay as far as just winning rounds,
- 54:46Speaker 1: but it's just once again, you're looking at this and
- 54:50Speaker 1: you have Garcia sixty six total lands to fifty seven
- 54:57Speaker 1: once again, two and ten punches in twelve rounds thrown,
- 55:03Speaker 1: and Roly's not mister active, but to eighty like the
- 55:06Speaker 1: one thing I'll say is I did like Roy going
- 55:10Speaker 1: to the body forty five. That's like the cleanest part.
- 55:15Speaker 1: So fifty seven of his lands were forty five of
- 55:18Speaker 1: them were to the body, So forty five to seven,
- 55:21Speaker 1: that's about Besides that great left houck in some body work.
- 55:27Speaker 1: I mean, this is just another one of those fights
- 55:30Speaker 1: where you're just like, and then what do you do? Now?
- 55:33Speaker 1: You hear Devin Haney say I still want my rematch,
- 55:37Speaker 1: And this is another reason why this should just went
- 55:39Speaker 1: right to the Dan reemon.
- 55:40Speaker 3: I mean we said it before the fight should have
- 55:43Speaker 3: just went right to it. Another thing I missed that
- 55:45Speaker 3: as outside the peds because Garcia, you know the one thing.
- 55:50Speaker 3: I mean, of course, I'll admit I'm not running from it.
- 55:54Speaker 3: No pun intended with what we saw this weekend in
- 55:56Speaker 3: these fights. But you know, I thought with Garcia his
- 56:00Speaker 3: speed and sharp punching, that with Rolly swinging wide, I
- 56:03Speaker 3: didn't think it was a situation where Rollie might not
- 56:06Speaker 3: be able to hurt him. Because Rolly does bring some
- 56:08Speaker 3: pop he doesn't get credit for. He showed it against Garcia,
- 56:11Speaker 3: at least with that left hook, and he'll throw hard punches.
- 56:15Speaker 3: But you know, I thought Garcia would be able to throw,
- 56:18Speaker 3: you know, throw Sharper and he's got power. But here's
- 56:22Speaker 3: the part outside the peds kind of glossed over from
- 56:26Speaker 3: his fight with Haney. He won that fight legitimately, but
- 56:29Speaker 3: a lot on the two knockdowns, he wasn't throwing that
- 56:33Speaker 3: much in that fun.
- 56:33Speaker 1: No, it wasn't.
- 56:36Speaker 3: His volume was down a lot, and I didn't think
- 56:40Speaker 3: that would have to come against you know, would show
- 56:42Speaker 3: up against Raleigh, but it did. I mean, so now
- 56:46Speaker 3: you've got Garcia, who's got a good offensive skills that
- 56:51Speaker 3: for who knows with him is the punch output in
- 56:56Speaker 3: the last two fights has just been plunging.
- 57:00Speaker 1: And yeah, you don't, like you said, at least he
- 57:03Speaker 1: could point to he was knocking him down, but he
- 57:05Speaker 1: was La was big. But it was clear that he
- 57:08Speaker 1: didn't want to get tired. You know.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, So he's not throwing, and he looks a
- 57:14Speaker 3: lot smaller.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no doubt. You look at his back. You
- 57:17Speaker 1: know it's it was he was not you know, whatever
- 57:21Speaker 1: whatever he was using that stuff for, he did. His
- 57:25Speaker 1: body did look different and not in a good way.
- 57:28Speaker 3: And you know, now he's your tank's one of the
- 57:31Speaker 3: hardest punchers in boxing. So you're no shame here. I
- 57:34Speaker 3: got taken out by Tank, but sure, but uh Luke
- 57:39Speaker 3: Campbell's not was never a big puncher.
- 57:41Speaker 1: He got dropped by him. But now Rowlie's a good
- 57:43Speaker 1: puncher though, So.
- 57:44Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not gonna say Rawllie's you know, I've
- 57:48Speaker 3: always believed Raley is a good puncher.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Here, credit too. You've said this more than once that
- 57:54Speaker 1: you know, like he's not as bad as everybody talks about.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I have said that a lot. Yeah, I mean he
- 57:59Speaker 1: said it again right for you know, last week.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Because he'll he'll you know, he he'll throw he'll throw
- 58:05Speaker 3: some hard shots at you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he'll throw
- 58:08Speaker 3: some meaningful hard shots at you. You know, and I
- 58:13Speaker 3: think the powers, the power is real, and you know
- 58:16Speaker 3: he's got some strength.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:20Speaker 3: I never thought he I have always said that. I
- 58:22Speaker 3: just never thought he was as bad as he was
- 58:25Speaker 3: getting knocked and he made out to be.
- 58:28Speaker 1: But I wasn't.
- 58:29Speaker 3: I wasn't picking him, right, Gotta gotta confess really, So again,
- 58:34Speaker 3: you know, Raleigh not spectacular, but a huge underdog dropping
- 58:38Speaker 3: him and getting the win. Of course, you got to
- 58:40Speaker 3: give him some props there like everybody pretty much is.
- 58:43Speaker 3: But just just a dreadful performance by Ryan Garciaan again
- 58:48Speaker 3: a decorated American amateur, you know, brand three with Haney
- 58:52Speaker 3: in the Amateurs US Junior Champ.
- 58:55Speaker 1: You know, I had a huge number in that tank fight. Yep,
- 58:58Speaker 1: huge fact.
- 59:00Speaker 3: So here's again another you know, top American guy right
- 59:05Speaker 3: with the with the social media following huge number in
- 59:08Speaker 3: the tank fight and just just coming up empty like
- 59:11Speaker 3: this after a peed thing where he really needed redemption.
- 59:15Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we've seen a lot of comebacks and
- 59:18Speaker 3: boxing where you think people are out and stuff, and yeah,
- 59:21Speaker 3: sure you can say who knows, but I'm with you too,
- 59:24Speaker 3: Like nobody wants this rematch with HAINI.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Now, no, we didn't need to see it anyway. But
- 59:31Speaker 1: if you're gonna do it, just do it. And here
- 59:33Speaker 1: we are. If they do this, John, I really hope they.
- 59:36Speaker 1: I know that most of them signed three three fight contracts.
- 59:39Speaker 1: But if they do this thing and they just rush
- 59:41Speaker 1: it and say yeah, let's just go to it, it's
- 59:44Speaker 1: just it's just it's just but I wouldn't put it
- 59:47Speaker 1: past them, to be honest with you, Well, they're making
- 59:49Speaker 1: terrible what's it gonna be ani ROI.
- 59:52Speaker 3: Yeah, right, they're making terrible They're making terrible decisions. They're
- 59:56Speaker 3: just making terrible decisions. It really, that's the thing.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: What is it opening?
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: It's just almost things just have to get they have
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: to get revamped. I mean, you know, you sure you
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: can keep going like you are, but it's just going
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: to keep going down and down like you know, as
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: as it stands today. I mean, I just don't see
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: where Ryan Garcia is going. I'm trying to think he
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: would have to just get a get a get a
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: big fight and you know, score a big.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Knockout or something. That's really his only hope and that's
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: where it can.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: For him to do that, right, But but even now,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: it's got to be like a big knockout against a Raleigh.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: It's got to be like he would have to get
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: some kind of fight people maybe felt like he didn't
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: even deserve. I'm making one up, but this is like
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: to give you an idea of what you would need.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Like he would have to get the fight with Boots
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: and everybody, why are they doing this? And and then he.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: And bihocks boots out or something.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: You know, we've seen crazy things in boxing, but I
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: think it is going to take something like that.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: So yeah, you know, if he's just banging.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: Out lesser opposition or something, it's this this guy's this
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: guy's damage. Now with the pds, the the erratic behaviors
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: come out like this. He's not reliable where you're gonna want,
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: He's not at all. You know, it's one thing to
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: tune into the unreliable guy where you're not paying a
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: pay per view price, even if it was HBO or
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: Showtime dased sure, yeap, you know thirteen bucks a month
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: Right, yeah, with all sorts of other energy, with all
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: sorts of other stuff. Right, you're not like, you're not
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: wasting your hard earned dollar on Oh I'm going to
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: see if Ryan Garcia can turn it around for eighty Yeah.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: No, it's like Ariola or something. After a while you're like, yeah,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: you're not. I'm not believing in you anymore. You know,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: it's actually a good comparison. Yah, all, I kind of
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: did do is man, did I love him coming up
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: and all the rules he was in and you.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Know, entertaining, but then too many surveyces like you said
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: it just that w yeah, but yeah, it's dreadful. So
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: you know, big win for Raleigh. But what do you
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: it's it's just it's just dreadful. Ryan Garcia just just
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: having that kind of a performance.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: And I gotta admit, like, during an interview with him,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: it did seem like he had like some of his
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: ship together, Like he seemed more focused. He wasn't saying
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: all this dumb ship and racist ship and all sorts
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: off that he's you know what he was saying last yeah,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: you know, and so it seemed like, you know, I
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: got my head straight, I got to this, I got that,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: and yeah, had Derek James, I mean, so yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: It's not like he was trying to get by with
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: an unknown brand, you know, ground. But it's like, hey,
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: James has got to be paid too, So just saying
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: that can be a sign like that's what I'm thinking, like, oh,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: you know, he's paying for games.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: So yeah, and you're going back right back to who
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: you're with and you're not getting somebody that's just gonna
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: let you run over them or whatever, right exactly exactly,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: So yeah, terrible. Yeah, It's like I said, just from
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: the setup, those screens, you know, there was screens in
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: the top of the ring they looked somewhat big, but
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I don't know how good of a view that was
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: from across the street. It's still a screen. It's still
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: a screen. It's still a screen, And it's why would
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: you have a wall? I get you're gonna have a
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: gate if you're gonna have people sitting there. I totally
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: get that you're gonna have a gate, But like, why
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: wouldn't you just be able to stand there for three
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: hours and check out the fight? That's the whole point.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: That's the whole point.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that shocked me.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: That's the whole point. You want that naturally away from it.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: If you're a block away, you're like, what the hell's
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: doing on down there? I don't know.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: You actually want that natural atmosphere where you're walking around
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: out there and yeah.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: It's impact place.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Know right right, that's the idea. I mean just just.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: It seemed like there was a lot of waste of space,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: a lot of open space, but no fan, I don't
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: know the setup, I don't know. I don't know how.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: It felt like those people either overpaid for the ticket,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: which we see that all the time, or they were
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: just giving it, giving the ticket because they're you know,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: some sort of famous person or money with person with money,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: or but half the crowd and even paying attention.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I was taking it like they were given like
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: they because you know, Lennox, Lowers and all these guys.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Which that's a good idea.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: But that I was just kind of kind of figuring
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: that's what that was. Yeah, so cool, they get to
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: sit down the whole time, that's fine, but why not
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: let people have a standing room vibe? Right, you know,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: That's what I thought it was gonna be street, That's
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: what I figured. You know, I totally get that you're
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: not just gonna be like, oh, first time, first serve
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: and it's a big mob or something. I understand that part,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: but yeah, I couldn't understand the wall. It's like, I
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: don't know, and you're dealing with people from New York.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: They're not gonna have time to you know, be like,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: you know, go fuck yourselves, you know what I mean,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: what are we doing here? You know, like for a
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: couple of hours, Like I don't know.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: But if you if you let them line up and
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: say they can watch it for free, they do it.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they do it. You know, like give
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: them a clear view and.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: Give them clear them all to pack times square and
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: you get people doing that kind of crazy stuff there
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: all the time.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Give them a clear view, let them you know, sit
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: there and film it. Let them like, you know, get
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: it going.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: You know, like, yeah, this wasn't about a pay per
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: view sale. It shouldn't be. Yeah, I mean it shouldn't
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: have been. So you know you're gonna do something like this.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: You're trying to market your product, market the sport, so
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: it's it's not compatible with them, like your wall. It
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: off in a pay per view and you're not letting
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: people see it. It just doesn't make sense.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: They're across the street because for a while I couldn't
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: see the setup. And then finally they showed a shout
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: and said, okay, they're across the street. I don't even
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: know if all of them can see. But why not
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: set it up kind of like hockey and basketball playoffs.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: The further the team goes, there's a big screen outside
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: of the building. Yeah, that's that'd be cool. That'd be great.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: People do people do like that. Don't get me wrong,
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: They in the modern they like the screen. I'm not
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: saying don't have much, but just like make it where,
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: you know, like a concert where you can look at
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: the screen, you can try to look at the stage.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: There you go. That's a good that's a good way
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: to put it. Yep, and have some volume, you know,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: like right, yeah, I don't know that that anyway. The Yeah,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: the biggest, the most positive thing is tail Fema one.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: And let's hope that Boots fight happens. The money's behind it,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: so there's really not a good reason why it wouldn't happen.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: This is this is this would be a great fight.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Have that and have that in New York or Atlantic City.
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: Yes, you know, yes, at least in an arena. Yeah,
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: carry you know some of the regional crowd. And I understand,
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: I Vegas gives you a big sight fee, but you don't.
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: You don't have it. Don't have it in Saudi.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: I mean, and I honestly don't think it. I don't
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: think they would give him a big sighte fee.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: You know, it seems like those days are starting to
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: not be there like they were.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: There's only a handful that would be a good like
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: a sizable hand fee. I mean, you're getting a couple
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: hundred thousand, maybe a mill tops and that's a that's
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: a lot and that tops I shouldn't say that. But besides,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: like the Jervonte and Canelo and stuff like that, the
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: fees are not I don't see a fee in that fight.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Like you said, it should be on the East coast.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: We know Boots draws tail females from the area, you know,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: at least when he was a kid, and he spot
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: and you know, the garden multiple times. So that's where
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: the fight needs to happen. And I hope they do
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: it because if you just bring it over to Sadi,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: you know, it's like and let's go to Saturday, so
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: you have the card later. So it's here, but there's
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: already no atmosphere. But if you kick it out at
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: three in the morning there four in the morning there,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: it's gonna be even less atmosphere. But it is what
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: it is. If you can make that fight, I'll just
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: deal with it. But so before we get into the
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: you know, the the ultimate stinker again, let's talk about
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: the heavyweight fight, because that is one that we were
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: kind of eyebond like, if this works out, you know what,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: But we did, you know, we were right on mccoli
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: obviously as far as how good a shape can he be?
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: In what was it three hundred and what he weigh in?
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: It was it was.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Heavy, it was a two ninety nine or something like that.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: I mean it was right at that at that, you know,
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: at the not good level.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: I feel like that. I feel like that when we
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: got right and the job got the decision. Yeah, you're right.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: And I did put that bet down too. Once you
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: talked about it, I was, I was, I I was
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: bummed at that. I mean, I didn't think it was biased.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: I think, you know, not a not a not the
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: greatest heavyweight fight we've ever seen or anything, but a job.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: We should have gotten the wind. But COOLi showed the
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: flaws we expected. I mean, you know that that. I
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: felt like we were totally on because you know, a
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: job but was a significant underdog. I mean, so it's
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: those are not those are hard calls to make. I mean,
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: when a lot of people were picking favorites all the time,
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: I've never seen him pick an underdog right like where
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: they just make the call. So it's hard. It's hard
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: to like make the call. And you know, I felt
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: like this was set up well for a job button
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: and it did fit what I thought too.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I'm not crazy about it.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: But you know, Corona just since he got with him,
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: he just the guy bought. You know, the guy just
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: boxes a lot.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: I mean he's mediocre at it. He's gotten better and
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: he's effective enough obviously to stay in there as we're now,
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: you know, just kind of on the top tennis level.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: But he was a high volume heavyweight, which is dangerous
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: even though he had some vulnerabilities with power. And you know,
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: now the power is not showing and he's not he's
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: not showing the same volume that he was in the
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: past either.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because he was really accurate for four fifty one thrown.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: He landed a buck ninety, like one hundred and ninety
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: punches for four fifty. That's damn accurate. The jab we
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: figured that was as one O six to sixty three. Yeah,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: it's got like it seems like he's really got his
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: jab tight. But like you said the other part, now
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: we were kind of asking to throw the jab or
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: at one point, but now it's like, hey, you got
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: the jab, man. You It's kind of like remember when
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Stewart be in the corner with the Klitschko and'd be like, hey,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: you've established your jab. It is time to throw the
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: right fucking hand, you know. But you're right, it's like
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: he did tighten up some stuff, but with the volume
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: and power to go along with setting it up with
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: the jab. Now that's a pretty damn good combination. But
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: we're not seeing it as much. But with Bacoli, even
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: seeing him warm up and do certain stuff, you know,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: some of those those videos out there hitting the pats,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: it's like, oh my god, like this is really bad,
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: you know, And ever since he had that one big showing,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: he just it's just it's just bad, man. Yeah, he was.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: What you could see coming that we were right about
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: was because it was only a couple of months ago
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: and outside of the ko port just the other part way,
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: you don't have to make weight. You could see he
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: was totally out of shape for partner. Now we know
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: that was a couple of days notice, but he was
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: so out of shape that I'm like, you know, he's
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: not going to be in that good as shape two months.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: Later for a job. But because to cut.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: All that weight and get into really good shape, he
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: would be weakened, not short of a time, So I figured,
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: how's it going to happen? And he wasn't in good shape.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: So at all, you know, he was not in good shape.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: But yeah, the thing with a guy like a job.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: But that's funny in boxing, like sometimes they'll and you
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: know again when you also Saturday Night, you've seen this
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: with moon Gia frankly, when they try to change a
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: guy's style or add something. And I've seen mcgert do
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: this with a lot of guys he works with. You know,
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: I like McGirt a lot, but this is sometimes where
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: I've seen it. Then the guys have some trouble. It's
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: kind of like what you've seen with the Jaga with Coroma,
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: like they they get better at some of these things,
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: like maybe being a little more responsible boxing wise. You
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: can see it, but it doesn't really come natural with him,
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: and then they can't combine it with their other positive
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: hat like they can't seem to switch back and forth.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: And it could, it would be awesome, but you just don't.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: You don't seem you really don't see it. So that's
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: the job. But to me and and you know, another
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: fight Saturday Night, that's become that's become.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Moia headed down that path and it seems like it's
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: a downhill path, you know what I mean?
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: He does the same thing. He just too well. We
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: have also, you know you and I when we've talked
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: about these two guys. Funny they both thought Saturday Night,
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: but we have compared a Joga and moon Gia. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: problem before and then they both bought Saturday and you know,
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: jog Ba I thought should have gotten the win, and
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: of course Mungia legitimately won. But you know, I know
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: he got knocked out the first time, and you want
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: to look at that. But this Si race guy despite
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: that first result, no power, no big wins or anything.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: I mean, Mungi is a puncher even up about one
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: sixty eight, he's still got good size, Like you want
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: to see him turn that around and get this guy
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: out of there, right, and you're just getting that like
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: the moon Gi as mediocre boxer. I mean, it's just
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: been going on now for years and it's it's Yeah,
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: he might have had a shorter career. He takes some
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: more shots, but maybe I always look at it, Maybe
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: you get out when you're younger, ye with your positive attributes,
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: but then you don't go on too long.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Now, yeah, he's still around, but he just comes back
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: going to beat anybody at a pretty high level with
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: that style. No, you're just not because that's not you,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: you know, right, he's not good enough where you are,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: Like like let's make up a scenario.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: Of course you be a huge underdog anyway, but like
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: even at age thirty eight for Usik, like just in
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: a theoretical matchup, like you know, a job was not
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: You're not gonna out box.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Usik, you know what I mean? Exactly. You know you're
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: a mediocre boxer.
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: Ye hang with some guys, but like that's not gonna
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: take you to the pinnacle.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: Yep. That's a great example because he would make a
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: fool of you, right, yep, exactly. Yeah, yeah, So you
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: know beyond Mougia had some struggles early in the fight.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I was like, uh oh, you know what, he didn't
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: look good early, never looked great obviously, but he did
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: end up, you know, putting a bunch of rounds together
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: and and winning the fight. I think I had like
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: nine to three or something like that. But you know,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: like you said, it didn't it didn't do much at least,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: and I did I did. I think I had it
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: six to four, maybe seven to three that f A.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: I did think FA won won the fight I'm right
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: there with you. I thought he just out you know,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: he just all he just out landed him. He was
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: just better than him.
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: But you, like you point out, good, very good point. Look,
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: it's hard to land forty your punches in a fun Yeah,
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: you lan forty of your punches, you would be expecting
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: to win the fight.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I mean yeah, I mean one ninety. We've
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: been talking about all this damn copy box because we
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: have to because you know how silly it was. But
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: one ninety you didn't even throw five hundred bunches. That's impressive. Actually,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: uh just a matter of you know, uh how you
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: deliver them or whatever. But but yeah, so you know
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: that was competitive fight, but it just but Koley just
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: looked arm punchy. Even those highlights of him training, it
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: was like and and some people said, well he was
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: just you know, before he got knocked out, he was
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: just starting camp. So he's not getting me in great shape. Yeah,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: but you want to come into camp pretty good, you know,
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: you know it's you don't lose weight a bunch of
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: weight in camp that for the fight week.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: That's when nineteen seventy where you go into camp to
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: get in shape. Yeah, right, you come in and somewhere
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: in shape.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Right, It's just like you know, you know spring training
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: or training camp for football. You know, you don't want
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: to sit there and you have to they test your
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: weight before you even can qualify for the camp. You know,
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: like you want to hit the ground running and then
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: get into game shape, you know, get your legs right
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: and all that. So that that that was always going
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: to be an issue there. And it's kind of like
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: he got Nikola, you have this big win and he
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: messed Aaron Anderson up. No doubt he would look good that.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: I love the way he can punch, and I love
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: the way he changes his punch mid punch. You know,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: he's very accurate in that fight, in in fights before that.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: But yeah, I just I don't know. But leading up
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: to it, you know, we get to the main event
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: and you know, even i'd say even over Miami, Cubans
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: get more love in Minneapolists, right, but they fight here
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: when they're here, they're good. They're actually pretty fun up
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: here when they're here. And obviously David Mell doesn't you know,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: fit that that mode. And we've actually seen some Cuban
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: fighters now get out of some of that and be
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: more offensive, you know. But so if you're gonna say
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: the Cuban style, that's disrespect to the Cuban style. What
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: he did there, I mean Arisloni Lara. Yeah, he's put
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: up some stinkers. People put up stinkers. But I mean this, like,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: sure we can go we can talk about Canelo too,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: and we will, but like I mean that that the
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: amount of movement, like lateral movement is awesome. Hit but
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: don't get hit, but you have to hit, you know,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: not just to not get hit doesn't mean a damn thing.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: And once again, and like I said, he funny enough,
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: he almost got to three hundred punches, you know, which
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: is sure didn't feel that way. He landed fifty five.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Alvarez landed fifty six punches, most of them to the body,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: which probably won him to fight John. He he threw
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty two punches in a twelve round fight.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: And like I said, his opponent didn't do shit either.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: But I mean, really, Canillo, I mean, you gott to
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: chase the guy, but just you know, batter Ram, do
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: the McNeely on Tyson, just rush his ass then do something.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: It was just both I don't know it was bad,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: but obviously you know his opponent was not there to
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: do much at all. You know, he got's make it
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: there to twelve round.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: Canelo's volume has been dropping. I mean, yes, precipitously, but
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: in a bad way. I mean like it's yeah, it's
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: this is this is just you know, Si wasn't there
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: to do anything. You can't to me, you know, you
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: can't give a guy like that rounds, right, that's not
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: that's that's the perfect example. Like is that taking a title?
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: I think that does matter. You can't have a sport
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: like that. But but Canelo is rightfully criticized where his
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: volume is just dropping, dropping, dropping, dropping this fight. You
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: know it's glaring, how glaring, how bad it is. He's
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: not hurting people as much. And this is that nonsense
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: of of you. Why you can't go by alphabets to
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: tell you what your definition dispute it is, because look,
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: if those alphabet people can't accept that they're wrong with
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: something like this, they're never going to accept it. Because
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: the IDF was telling you, so Skull was a champion,
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: Saul was a champion. So on the for the quote
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: alphabet on disputed people John Canello had to fight this guy. Now,
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: I agree where some people were waking up this week
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: after the fight saying, look, you know, don't tell us
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: you're you know, this guy didn't want to fight me,
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: and that's why it was boring when you could have
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: just fought Ben a Venez.
- 1:21:24Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, exactly. And look, you can buy a fer
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: before the fight. You can laugh all you want, but
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: I'm with it all the way. And I said that
- 1:21:35Speaker 7: pre fight months ago. Don't tell me you wouldn't rather
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: see the Jake Paul circus in with Canelo than this.
- 1:21:42Speaker 7: I mean, I mean, whatever you got was going to
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: be better than this.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: I mean, and I would have never guessed it was
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: going to be this bad. Right, I know it wasn't
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: going to be good, but I would have never guessed this.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: It's sad, But Jake Paul getting knocked out, Yes, much
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: more entered hting than this.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: And then parlay right into September.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Yeah, teller, So Canelo, this does fit with with my
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: criticism of him though at times, even though I've always.
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: Liked the guy, you got to respect him in many rights,
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: there's just times and it seems like he might not
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: get it. Like there's just times where he makes these
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: moves when he could get to that even higher level
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: of profile in the US to US sensibilities, he makes
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: a strange move and this was one of them. He
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: could have fought.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Jake Paul, you know, I mean, think of how big
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: that would have been, whatever you think of it. And
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: he makes a U turn on Netflix, on Netflix, and
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: he fights this William school guy in Saudi Arabia and
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: fights one of the most boring fights of all time.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: A copy box record for row Punch is thrown. I mean,
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: you open the door for Jake Paul to trash talk
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: you and just like you sure knew, I mean, just
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: awful and just I mean just terrible, just just just terrible.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: I mean the only plus to me was really I mean,
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: the inn away fight was exciting, but you couldn't have
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: expected that with the way the matchup was on paper,
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: with the odds. But the other thing, the other thing
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: is on the negative part though, Like like I said
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: at the outset, this is the first time it seems
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: like to me people from all different perspectives are like
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: hitting it like no, like like all coming together saying
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: like this is so bad it can't go on like this,
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: the sports not viable like this, we can't do this,
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: that's right.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: So I don't know if Julia, you know, we didn't
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: need this to tell.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: Us that, right, We shouldn't have needed this to tell you.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: You know, I think they're and I think they're it's
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: a good point, Chris, but you know that you make
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: I think there was a faction because I do see
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: a change.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: I gotta admit it.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: Like it seemed there was a I don't know exactly
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: what that percentage would be, but it's yeah, it seemed
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: like that percentage you want to say positive things no
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: matter what garbage is out there, like they got the
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: wake up Paul, Like generally, I really am shocked because
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: I can't think of any of them that didn't. I mean,
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: like they were all even the ones that oh we
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: got to talk positive, were like this is the worst
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: thing I've ever seen. We can go on like this,
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: And I'm like, Okay, you shouldn't have, like you said,
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: it shouldn't have taken this to get it. But at
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: least here we are sitting, you know, on May sixth,
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: and majority of her almost all the hardcore boxing commentators, fans, followers,
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: as of at least today are getting it like this.
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: This is not sustainable.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: We can't do this. Yeah, so anyway starts up really nice.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: U that decisive jab is so heavy and so fast,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: and he is one of those guys that you can
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: hit the glove and you can hear it still land.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: So he's doing pretty good. The Bradley piece when he says,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: you know, does he have the skill to fight him inside?
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: You know, it's like, do you not think anyway has
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: the skill to fight him inside? Like, come on, dude. Now,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: he did make a great point. I don't know if
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: it's just because of who he broadcasts with or whatever
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: it was. You know it was promoted by but he
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: made a great point and had a big rant about
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: the last couple of days. And I want to go
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: off of his point in a second. But you know,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: anyway was cruising in that second round jab body work
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: left hook's right hand, and then you did see car
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Danas like have a little success. He was finding some success,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: but he landed that perfect left hand dropped him. But
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: then it was really about you know, maybe the fifth
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: round he stole with a nice left hook late, but
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: other than that he was pretty much all anyway, he
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: really by the fourth I'm looking at my car by
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: the fourth round. And it was actually the third round
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: where I thought maybe he could have stole that round.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: But by the fourth round he was digging in some
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: just crazy shots, really letting his hands go with the
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: speed and the power, controlling most of the rounds. But
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: you know, Cardenas, he did show hard. He did get
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: hurt several times, and so it was a fun fight,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: but way better than expected. And he was starting to
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: look bad with those left hooks to the body. Started
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: looking like, okay, he might go out, but then he
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: fired back, and you're like, okay, wow, this dude's got
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: his guy's good. And I remember he was in the
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: corner and he was able to switch out and put
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: anyway in the corner and he started going. I was like,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: all right, dude, here we go. And then he was
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: getting hurt. He had gotten knocked down. But I did
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: think it was an early stoppage if you're gonna let
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: that guy go through what he was going through a
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: couple of those rounds where the combos are coming and
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: he's proven to us he can fire back. At that point,
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: I don't know if I would have stopped it. What'd
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: you think overall? And it was, you know, it didn't
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: say I don't care what anybody said. It didn't save
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: the weekend. You know, it didn't save it, but it
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: was at least you went out with like, hey man,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: all right, that that was a good fight, But what'd
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: you think overall? Well, that's a good.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: Point for me to pick it up going in because
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: you know i'd posted on accent. I still stand by it.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: You know, like you had a lot of in a
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: way fans like after we saw that Drek on Friday
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: and Saturday, like oh, it's it's it's up to.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: In a way to save the weekend.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: And I was like, come on, man, the guy's a
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: minus five thousand favorite. He was minus one hundred to
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: get a KO and he was minus one twenty five
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: for it to be under five and.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: A half rounds. So wow.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: Yeah, So to me, like even though we got what
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: we got, like if he blows the guy out.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: That's not enough.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: And also like people are looking at the you know
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: they're not going to say maybe even look at the odds,
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: but the odd show you what kind of fight it is,
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: Like you can't really go into it with any expectations,
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: even though it's in a way. Now, I was having
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: one friendly debate with a guy I don't know him,
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: but I'll give that guy just this one little piece
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: that he raised before the fight. When I was debating
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: him about that, he said, well, you why I think
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: it is.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: You know, in a way, he is going to go
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: for the KO.
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: He's not going to be dancing around looking for a
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: decision and then like implying that, which is true. But
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: you know, look, this is why the guy brings a
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: lot of excitement. One of the many reasons. You know,
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: when you go looking for the ko, you are a
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: little bit more vulnerable. You don't, you don't necessarily make
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: yourself more vulnerable on the whole, I think, which is
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: underrated because you're not letting the guy hang around. But
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: when you're going for the ko, right, you're you're more
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: at risk of getting hitting things, And that, in fact
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: is what happened.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: I saw another guy on social media pre fight. I'm
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: not buying into this because I always see a lot
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: of this kind of stuff, like trying to pump up
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: like in a way like cardanis is a lot better
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: than you think, Like I don't take that seriously pre fight,
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: because there's always those types throwing that out there to
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: try to testify one of their favorites being a minus
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: five thousand favorites and you quote tweet it after the
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: yeah yeah, So that one I didn't take seriously and
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: I still don't, but leading in so that that to
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: me was the leader. But I was actually even more
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: impressed with Cardenas, I think than you were, Chris, like,
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: because this is and I think even though they wouldn't
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: say it now, I don't think even top rank thought
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: it because when you bring one of these opponents in,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: what makes the difference, And it was the difference here,
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: And I frankly don't think it was intentional by top rank,
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: but I don't think it was a fluke watching the
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: guy fight because one twenty two you're always not going
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: to get that too when you get into these smaller
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: weight classes. But Cardenas brought power. You know, he didn't
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: have the record of who he fought. He did have
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: a decent KO percentage, but like you know, the left hook,
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: but I saw it afterward, like to me, it was
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: like surprising for a one twenty two guy. In A
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: credit to Nuwe for bringing the volume, because Cardenas said
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: a post fight, and I think it was the truth.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: I saw it just a little bit differently, Like I
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: felt right up to the end that whenever car Data
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: was throwing, he was hurting in a way. I mean,
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: I actually thought his power was having that much effect
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: on him really right up to the end. But what
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: Cardenas said and I saw too, was like, and this
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: is all credit in a way, because he's a power
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: puncher too. In a way, just did a remarkable job
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: of turning up the volume. Yes, Cardenas said. Cardenas said postfight,
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: like it was the volume. I just couldn't deal with
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: the volume. And that's like what you saw playing out.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: But yeah, I saw it.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: It didn't get discussed, and I'll stand by it because
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: I felt it despite what the result was.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: I thought then after the.
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: You know, Cardenius knocked him down, and then in a way,
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: with the volume was coming back and I was then
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: checking the live odds and in a way had gone
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: back up to like a minus seven point fifty. Yeah,
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: I thought, then I'm like, look this, I put a
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: little bit of money on Cardenas at that point, and
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: I actually don't regret it. Because I was you know,
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: he was like, no, I mean I might have that
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: I might have gotten like a plus seven fifty on
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: him at that point or something, because I'm like, he's
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: My thought.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you what my thought.
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: Process was from what I was seeing, was like, when
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: this guy throws, he hurts him every time he throws
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: and lands, and then before the not the wrap, but
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: not right not long before he got stopped. He did
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: have that point where you know, he went hard to
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: the body, he backed in a way against the ropes
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: my failing. I'll still stand by it, despite what the
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: result ended up being. I thought, in a way was
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: ready to go there. I mean, I thought, if he
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: could have, if Cardenas could have just cranked up a
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: little bit more, and again that's credited in a way,
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: but I thought, you know, in a way hung in.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: But I thought he was. I thought he was a
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: couple of hard, clean shots from going. I mean, I
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: thought he was in distress. And you know, we we
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: do know something about in a way. Now now he's
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: thirty two, he's fighting at higher weight, but you saw
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: it earlier too. It's not easy to do because of
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: the power he brings. It's very difficult. Like you said,
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: he's got a good job too. But we could say
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: if because we've seen it when it happens, and it
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: hasn't happened much, but it did happen in this fight
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: at times, definitely not over the whole course of it.
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: If in a way gets backed up and you've got
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: some power, you know that that's where you see a
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: little bit of vulnerability.
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: Like much and Bradley did talk about that part where
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: in the middle of the ring are going forward coming
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: at him. He's better, but if you do back him up,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: and he did back him up plenty of times. Yeah,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: he was.
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: He was doing more than others because and I'll say
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: it because that was years ago, but like you know,
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: in a way was younger too, Like I mean, but
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: but don't Air was you know, really old, way way
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: past his prime. I thought that fight, I'll still say it,
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: their first fight was a little bit overrated. They gave
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: a fight of the year. I didn't see it as
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: that type of a fight.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: Yeah, Well why I'm bringing that up is don't Air
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: did back him up some and I remember thinking during
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: that first fight they had like, man, in a way,
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: he's so effective when he doesn't allow himself to get
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: back up, like backed up. You know, why is he
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: letting this guy back him back him up? And then
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: he proved in the rematch he didn't have to let
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: him back him up. He just went right at blew
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: him the hell out of there immediately. So like that's
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: why I'm giving Cardenis a really lot of credit, even
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: though it's against an older in a way four pounds higher.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: I mean, he was backing them up with power. I
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: mean it, you know when he did it, he dropped
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: them once and then like I said, I thought he
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: had him in some trouble later and when he did
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: do it, he was really effective. But you know, apparently
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: it's understandable where the sports at, especially like Cardanis, you know,
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: has to work a job.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: You know, he's not.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: Training full time, and look when you get into these
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: kind of stamina situations and stuff, that kind of thing
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: makes a difference.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: I mean, one guy's train full time, you know, in
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: a way was one of the.
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: High actually get the rest. He was one of the
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: highest pay of athletes in the world. Yeah last year
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: or so, like that can to in a ways credit
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: that could take away your incentive. But if it doesn't,
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: You've got a lot of training resources and time, you know,
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: when you're one of the highest paid athletes in the world,
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: and Cardenis is, you know, a former lyft driver and
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: it's got to make a living. Yeah, you just saw
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: that when in a way was able to turn up
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: that volume, you know, and and having that that stamina
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: and with and yeah, and Cardenas just he couldn't stay
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: with that, and that that ended up being the end
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: for him. He just he couldn't stay with it. He
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: just he couldn't at the very end, he just couldn't
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: fire back anything like with that volume in a way
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: was thrown at him.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: And he got into the body too, because you started
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: to see him really protecting his body near the end,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: and to your point, that sixth round midway point anyway,
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: was really laying it on him. But he was able
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: to come back and push him back. And even in
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: that round where he got the knockdown and looking at
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: my storecard body shots hurt him. But then and you
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: could see him guarding it. But then you know, Cardenia's
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: left hook to the body and the head short upper cut.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: Remember he had him on the rope landing that big
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: upper cut, and sure he got knocked down with a
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: huge right hand, but he did some damage in that round.
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: What do you think of the stoppage? Do you think
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: I thought it was a little early myself.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: A lot of people said that I got I gotta say,
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: though I did not think it was early. He just
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: for me it was. I kept pulling for him to
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: do it because he was. It was a very exciting fight,
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: one of the best fights of the year. If not yeah, hey,
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: I put that with the you know it's this one
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: and Bilatzi and Callum Smith. You know, those are the
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: two I like the best this year. But for me,
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: I do have to say, and I thought the ref
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: did okay because I thought now in the corner and
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: before that, I thought they were like, we're gonna give
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: you one more round. I thought that was premature. I thought, why,
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: you know, sometimes you got for motivation, Why even put
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: that in his head? Why put his hand to ruin
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: his confidence? But at the time of the stoppage, for me,
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: you know, as much as I was pulling for Cardenas
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: to continue the excitement, it went a little the round before,
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: but then the round, especially where it got stopped because
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: the round before that, before his corner got him, at
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: least he still threw a couple of bombs back. Oh yeah,
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: he didn't, you know, before the stoppage, he just wasn't.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: He just didn't come back with it.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: It is true for me, that was enough then at
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: that point, and you can see he was close to
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: going so you know, I could call it a little early.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: I saw his reaction, but at the end of the day,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: he was I mean, a handful more punches, you know,
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: and it may have been over anyway, so or maybe
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: he goes down, gets up and then nothing's coming back,
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: like you said, whereas the previous rounds he was firing
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: back and he clearly he wasn't. You are right, he
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: wasn't firing back, and he was just there, just really
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: protect and in a dangerous spot. Is if you're protecting
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: your body, you know, and you're leaving your head that
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: wide open, you know. I didn't think it was a
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: horrible stoppage. I thought it was a little early, but
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: I'm not But I wouldn't make a big deal about
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: it because if it's just a little early, a couple
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: of combos and knockdown a couple of combos and it's
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: over any so, and he had plenty of time in
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: the round. You know, it was just getting going. Really,
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: wasn't that it wasn't late in the round or something.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: So yeah, I could see your point there. I don't
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: think it was a bad stoppage. I guess I was
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: into the fight too, Like, I mean, this dude's going on.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: He already proved it. You know, I was pulling you,
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: And I did think the corner.
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: I didn't like the corner advice in between rounds, even
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: though it's even though it did get stopped the next round,
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: I thought, Hey, your guy's firing back with bombs at
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: the end.
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: Of the round.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: What are you telling them, I'm going to give you
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: one more round, And you know, like, hey, he's still
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: in this thing. But then when he came out for
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: that next round, he just he just wasn't firing back.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: At all, that's true, and he was getting hit hard.
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: Didn't answer getting hit hard.
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: But it's another good example of and this is what
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: we don't have enough of because either they can't find
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: the punks, or they don't try hard enough for it,
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: or I think a lot of times they think it's
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: too much risk. But like see even at one twenty
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: two you saw here where Cardenas turn out to have
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: that power. Like when you have two guys with pop,
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: you you have the potential for a dramatic matchup, yes,
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: because it can be seesaw, both guys can hurt the
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: other guy. It's there's a lot of bad match making
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: out there. I mean, you know, that's the thing. Like
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: you take these guys with low KO percentages and you
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: put them in main events, and some of them are
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: mediocre boxers. They're not master boxes or anything, right, right,
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: even that entertaining. I mean, like you know, it's just
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: not it's not good match making. It's just not good
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: match making or working hard enough to you know, get
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: an opponent or whatever. But this I really don't think
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: they intended.
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: But but this guy ended up having real pop Cardenas
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: and that made the difference. I think that's what. You
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: know that in a way, I'll give credit for being aggressive,
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: but the fact that the opponent brought pop. A perfect
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: example would be the fight before that when Espinosa was
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: in a with the guy who.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: Had four K.
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: You know, that's just that doesn't do anything for me.
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: There's no drama for me there, I know how this
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: is going to end, and the the guys the B
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: side is not coming back with any pop. That's too
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: much of what we get the main event. The difference
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: in the equation for me as good as in a
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: way is is that that the but that that the
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: opponent turned out to have real pop because I think
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: I saw enough out of Cardenas here. I don't think
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: it was a one shot deal or a fluke shot.
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: I've talked about those. I don't think that was with him.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: Like, I want to see the guy more because I
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: think the.
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: Guy's got pop, so you know, I really do.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: I want to see him again, and I want to
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: see him as a full time boxer too, exactly, because
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: that's the thing. You can go hard in the gym,
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: but then you need to rest. You don't need to
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: clock in at work. You know, it doesn't matter what
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: you're doing. You could be doing the most quote unquote
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: simple job or whatever, or not physical job. It's still
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: it's mental capacity that you are using. And you know,
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: so yeah, a lot of people said that to you, like, hey, man,
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: like I want to watch this guy fight. Man, this
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: guy he brot it and it's not easy to do that,
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: so great showing there, and like I said, it was
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: nice to end on that note, but it didn't save
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: the weekend.
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: Didn't save the weekend. Now that that was that was overrated,
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: but it was definitely a fighter to year candidate. Yes,
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: you know, we're not some people were saying, and it could,
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: but this remains to be seen, like because car Cardenis
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: was Let's face it, he's basically an unknown what more
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: than every thought. But now in a way completely his defense.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: I mean, he's thirty two for one hundred and twenty
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: two pound er. That is old for that weight. So
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: you know, some people are trying to say, well, this
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: show's is greatness. I mean I don't, you know, yeah,
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: I guess in a way like if you want to
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: compare it to like Larry Holmes getting knocked down by
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: Rinaldo Snipes and then getting back and ko and them
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: and preserving the Cooney fight, or a Sugar Ray Leonard
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: who did retire after this before coming back of course,
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: most famous against dropped by Kevin Howard and then came
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: out and stopped him. I mean, you can maybe make
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: that argument, but we don't.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: We got to you know this is one you almost
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: got to see, like what, let maybe we see what
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: Cardenis does after this and what in a way does
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: because you know it might not.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: Be able to say next.
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: Potentially it might not be like Larry Holmes like I
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: don't I think he can take Jay. But like if
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: he was in with Knakatani, you know that he might
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: get dropped and not get up or something I mean,
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: or get ko.
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: And you could tell it wasn't different getting dropped to
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: your point of the power really having an effect, because
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: he did stay down this time and look at him
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: and it was smart. It shows you as IQ, but
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: he did stay down for a while to make sure
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: he was okay instead of springing right up, which we
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: see from time to time people make mistakes like that.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: And so I thought, on one hand, it shows you
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: his ring, IQ, but on the other it shows he
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: was hurt. You know. It wasn't a flash. Knockdown, Yeah, knockdown,
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: It wasn't a flash. It was different than an area
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: I thought. So, yeah, they got to make that knocka
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: Sani fight here soon because you know, like you said,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: he is getting a little older, you know, and at
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: those weight classes, you know God, I hope they make
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: that fight. Yeah, I don't. I mean personally, like I
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: don't care about this MGA fight.
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: I don't. I mean, you know, maybe in a way
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: he's getting old enough if there's an upset or something,
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: but I don't care about it. You know, make the
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: Knakatani fight or or have him just and do it
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: in Japan too, you know. Our here's again. I keep
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: saying stuff like this, but it really would be good, like,
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: you know, while top ranks still got what's left of
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: the deal or something. I mean, you probably don't have
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: the time now, but theoretical, like, hey, you know, Leo,
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: I don't think I have to go buy alphabet belt.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: But he's a top rank featherweight. He's got an alphabet belt. Now,
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: you've been in some action fights and for in a
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: way the appeal despite what he did with Lopez, normally,
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: Leo is not a big puncher, so like you know, like, hey,
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: you know, that would be exciting to see him trying
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: to move up the featherweight and do that again.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: I'd rather see that.
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: Than the MJ thing. I mean, I don't, I don't
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: get the I just don't.
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: I don't like it. I just don't.
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: I don't really get it. It's using the one twenty
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: two alphabet thing, you know, undisputed whatever. But there's other
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: better opponents out.
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: Right. That's stuff lineal, So what's the difference. I mean,
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: you know, you got Knakatani. The right move up to
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: featherweight would be exciting. You know this too, you know, I.
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: Mean to me, you know Espinosa is so tall that
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: doesn't fit, right, Yeah, I mean really, I just somebody's
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: used to do have styles like I'll even give in
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: a way that I mean, I'm not I wouldn't do that,
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: but you know, you got layo would be easy to
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: you know, that would be easy to make, and it
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: would probably be entertaining.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking a guy, that might be possible of pushing
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: somebody back, you know, right right, So he does.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: That, you know, and then he's talking ball like I
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: I don't really want ball that much either, I mean,
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: because balls, even though he's at feather one twenty six,
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: he's very small for the weight, right, not as intriguing
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: to me, like, you know, so he's talking MJ.
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: Ball, he's not talking Na Katani.
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: The LEO would be good. I think, I just don't
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: I don't like the guy there. There have been other
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: times in his career, and there's people who follow the
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: history of it more who who are aware of this.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: You know that that he's missed some people, you know,
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: as good as he is, yeah, I mean he's great.
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: You know, he's kind of missed some people along the
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: way that he could have could have taken on a
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: different spot. So before he's done, I don't want to
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: see that with like Knakatani or maybe really fighting a
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: good featherweight challenge, you know, if you can't get a
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: lineal set up at featherweight.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: Yeah, because you know his first fight was July twenty
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: twenty three at one twenty two, came up and you know,
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: find a damn good fighter and and then you know
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: he's spot okay fight since then, not many good fights
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: that we're being honest. So it's like, why even jump
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: up the featherweight when you have Knakatani and Nakatani has
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: to come up to your weight. You've been there for
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: a while now, so just I don't know, like they
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: told us last year, John that this was gonna be
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: the co feature fight and then the next one was
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: gonna be them Now they they talked at that some
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: sort of sangsung belt thing. I think it was. I
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: don't even remember. Maybe it was the ring Awars, I
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: don't know, but they were up there saying, hey, we're
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: gonna fight next year, and it's like, okay, but you know,
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: you better fight Nakatani quickly.
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: I mean they almost Look, it wasn't talked about enough.
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: I mean they almost lost that opportunity someday night. Yeah,
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: I mean it was. It was close. I mean, yeah,
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: mar Danas had him in trouble, you know, to me
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: on a couple occasions, and they could have lost it
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: right there, So you know, why not learn And then
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: they're they're talking about the MJ thing. They're not talking
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: about Knakatani next or even the fight after MJ.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: It's it's just a shame. Yeah, So that that about
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: wraps it up for the weekend. We had a lot
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: of fights, but yeah, it's we came in there not
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: really pumped about the weekend, and I don't think either
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: of us could have thought it would have been that bad.
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: No, not that bad.
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: There's no way you could foresee that, you know.
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: Now, that's what we're say in the law right. That
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: was unforseeable.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: I mean that I can't believe they have three now
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: in the top five or whatever of just shitty copy box.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: Like it's just it's like, even if you tried to
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: do hey, this is our goal, you couldn't. You couldn't
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: do it right, You couldn't be couldn't write, you could
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: never write that script.
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: No, you couldn't do it if you wanted to.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: Just yeah, even if you really tried. And imagine the
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: money that was burned over the weekend too, and that's
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: that's what we got. Like, oh boy, So this weekend
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: is filled, you know with fights because we're it's a
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: busy fight schedule almost every weekend, but not that many
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: that stand out. Obviously, we do have Lubin. You'd like
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: to see him beat Homes and then get to a
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: big fight because Lubin is still you know there, He's
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: got a fight on pro Box pro Box as a card.
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Generally speaking, they can be pretty good matchmaking. They've done
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: a pretty good job with that. Okay, yep, Martinez in Ioka,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: it's a rematch. But I will say I'm pretty surprised
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: that the odds are that close. And really, now that
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: I look at the rest they're more like plus two fifty.
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: But I saw a FanDuel plus one ninety six and
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: watching that, I just I don't know. I think Martine
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: is gonna, you know, win the fight, but whatever.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: I is too old now, yeah, and for that weight,
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: you know, for that weight.
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and we and we we saw it so and
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: he handled it pretty good. So it's kind of like
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: whatever we do have Raymond Martaya. He's a guy that
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: we we we were looking for him to do something.
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: Speaking of a guy that has shown Let's get him
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: a big fight. And then it's almost like things get
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: stale if you don't get him to that fight, you know, yeah,
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: almost that's exactly what happens, it seems. And then we
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: have uh, you know, Leewood and Anthony uh Kokochi, which
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: probably will just be a good ass brawl, you know.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: I'm that's actually the fight I'm looking forward. I still
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: think Lubin can make some noise, so I gotta admit,
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: as a boxing fan, I'd love to see him win
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: because I think he's game. Still. He's had a lot
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: of time off now though, so I am wondering how
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: he's gonna look in that Probeck's main event, But yeah,
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: any any any other items that you'd like to talk about.
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: Obviously Canelo and Bud. It is now official that Dana
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: White is gonna be you know, we knew that he
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: was gonna but we don't know. They haven't an They
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: said that the TV thing is going to be announce soon.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: So I really hope it's Netflix because yeah.
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: That really bothered me because Coppens when he first went
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: over to their ring, so you would believe it just
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: as like that he's promoting for him for Perky Alachic
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: said it's gonna be on Netflix. Then when I see
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: that after the Canelo fight Saturday night that TV to
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: be announced, I was like, you got to be kidding me?
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Yeah, are you?
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: Are you gonna tell me it's a his own pay
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: per view now?
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: Like right?
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: It? I mean, because you know the thing about Canelo Crawford,
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: you know, maybe maybe I'm not saying you do. I'm
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: not saying I'm going to predict it, and frankly, I
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: don't think I will be. But like if you had
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: a shocking ups that might be one thing, but like
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: there's not really I don't really see any scenario like
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: like where it's a good fight like, you know, even
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: if Crawford, it probably can't be a good fight, right like,
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: because that would mean Canello's volume is just in the toilet,
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: right growing, and that somehow he's unable to land a
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: big shot on Crawford, and Crawford is just doing enough
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: because you know, Crawford wasn't even as good as he's
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: been in the past and his last fight, so and
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: now he's fighting even higher weight and he you know,
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: he's guys in his late thirties at this point, and
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: Cano's in his mid thirties. Like, I don't really see
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: scenarios where it's a good fight, so it's more like
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: an event. I mean, I'm not really against the event,
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: right It's like, but it's like an event. So, like,
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: you know, and I don't think it sells on I'll
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: go that far. I just I don't think it sells
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: particularly well on his own pay per view. Even with
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: Canelo Bob Crawford it would do okay maybe, but you know,
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: but I don't think it's like a huge seller. You
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: need the Netflix angle or something like that. Just it's
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: an event. The bad part for boxing will be, like
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: I said, I don't really see scenarios where it's a
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: good fight, but you know, maybe, you know, maybe Canelo
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: gets an editor with the power and you just have
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: a knockout, right, And then I.
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: Think the way he fought against Postal Year all those
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: years ago, when you know, he lost the first round
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: Crawford and then he just boxed the rest of the way.
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: You know, I think watching that fight, he's gonna move
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: because he's like, well, shit, Canel can't catch me, you know,
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: but he has to too, Like if you're gonna take
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: on that fight, you're gonna have to stick.
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: And move, yes, because that's the one thing about that fight. Like,
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: even at this stage, That's what I've been thinking about
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: more in recent days. As bad as Canelo was Saturday night,
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: it's probably even at this point a situation where if
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: Canelo really catches him, he's gonna take him out. So
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: you know, and I'm not saying that's a certainty, but
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: I'm just saying that. But I'm thinking, when I start
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: to really analyze this fight a little bit, it's like
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: Crawford can't Crawford can't get hit solid much. I mean,
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: he's probably gonna get taken out if that happens. So
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: that fits with what you're saying, you.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: Think it'd be like the Charlo fight where it's just
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: like you just making it to the twelve rounds because
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: after a while, Charlo, even Charlo, the guy who had
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: all this power iner and all that, he went up
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: two way classes and he just is like this is tough,
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: you know, and the Charlo's take a real good sho
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: to So, like, you know, that's what I'm thinking.
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: Like I'm not saying Crawford doesn't, but like he's coming
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: up from lightweight.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't didn't look great in his last fight.
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: Now I don't think like that's where I don't think
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: he could even do what Charlo did there. You know,
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: I think if Crawford starts getting caught, he's he's gonna go.
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: I mean, I do think that in this fight. I'm
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: not I'm not saying I've decided that's gonna happen, but
- 1:55:26Speaker 3: especially Canello's volume down, but yeah, like this could be
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: a fight where Canelo might be able to get away
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: with which and he might need it. He might be
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: able to get away with that looking for one shot
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: thing that he was doing in the Billie Joe Sanders
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: Caleb Ye times and then kind of kind of couldn't
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: do it to Bivol, But like, I think he might
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: be able to get back to that a little bit
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: in this one. Like you know, he could maybe drop
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: a few rounds and and catch Crawford with something big
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: out of there. You know, we'll see as it gets closer.
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: But not seeing the Netflix a certainty, that was a
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: huge disappointment because I like the event. But you know,
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: one of the reasons I like the event was thinking, oh,
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: you're gonna put it on Netflix. But you know, I
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: have some belief in Dana White with some things, but
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: even I'm gonna say to think with where the sport
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: at boxing is right now, even with within the sport
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: names as big as Canelo and Crawford, that like he's
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: just gonna step in and and and be some kind
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: of miraculous promoter for this, right, I don't see it,
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: you know, if he wants to develop something new like
- 1:56:36Speaker 3: we talked about, yeah maybe maybe, maybe it's gonna take
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: a little time, but you know, just just coming on this,
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: I don't I don't see what he's gonna do unique
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: to this that's gonna make a big difference.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: It is the thing he has it's a mouth it's
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: a it's it's a mouthpiece that could go on pretty
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: much any show. Right. So that's there's that there is
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: this ship and certain business arrangements that he's tied to
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: and that the UFC s tie do that does have
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: a it's a big freaking umbrella. But will that transfer
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: over and we've seen I mean that's what people don't
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: understand that they're not paying attention that we've seen multiple
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: Canelo papers now on his own they just don't sell.
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: You know, well, you make it. You make a good
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: point to put the PBC and they do sell. So
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: like I know, it can sell. But you're right, if
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: it's his own pay per view, it's gonna limit it.
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: It's going to limit it now.
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: But you make a good point because I was saying
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: a little bit. I was focusing on it more with
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: the other stuff Dana White was going to do. But
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: you make a good point. It applies to this just
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: reminded me, and you're right.
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: I get.
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: The one thing Dana White can do right now is
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: he has the political connections and the other business connections
- 1:57:56Speaker 3: that you're.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Right, Boxing has been in.
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: Can you know right, Boxing's been missing a front person
- 1:58:03Speaker 3: like that for this fight alone, he could do that.
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: I mean, let's face it, you know we're not fans
- 1:58:09Speaker 3: of his, but you gotta look at the realities, right,
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: he could get Donald Trump at the fight. I mean good,
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: I mean he could literally if he wants to do that, Yeah,
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: he could do it. I mean he could, Like you said,
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: he can be on Rogan talking to all those get
- 1:58:27Speaker 3: the word out and boxing does need that, so you
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: know that's true. I mean Dana White himself, he can
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: do some things differently there, that is true. I just like,
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: but like you said, and I agree, even with all
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: Dana White can do if it's.
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: A his own pay per view, I don't think that's
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: necessarily going to do. It's just limited. We can been
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: over and over again, you know, right even when you
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: and by the time it got there the Glufkin, Glufkin
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: was way past it then, but it's still like really
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: under chief, you know paper. So you're just like, I
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: didn't expect it to go over a million. Again, No
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: I didn't, But I don't know. I just I guess
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: it's like you know, the Jake Paul thing. People thought
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: that was a joke. Now they see what happened in
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: the middle of the ring on Saturday. That was a joke,
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: and that's our whole point. We weren't selling it like
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: it's a great fight, but he was gonna knock his
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: ass out on Netflix in front of tens of millions
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: of people, right, even if it's just ten and it
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: doesn't do what they did. Who cares, right, right, And
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: then you're gonna turn right back around and fight a
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: guy who's undefeated, who you know, a couple of years ago,
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: finally got his day in the sun and did it
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: in a dramatic fashion. He really terrorized Spens that night.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: And so he is a great b side for Cadelo.
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: He just is. And it does make it an event.
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: So but you can only turn that around. And we
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: did give credit when we heard about Netflix and Crawford
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: was asked and he's like, I don't know, we'll see
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: you know, So I hope that's just him saying he
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: can't say it on the just owned thing. I don't know,
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: but I don't know. I just hope it's on Netflix, man. Yeah.
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: I mean if you're Amazon or you know whatever, it
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: doesn't have to be Netflix. Yeah.
- 2:00:24Speaker 3: The one positive is is, yeah, the point you made.
- 2:00:28Speaker 3: If you take if you take Dana Way and the
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: connections he can bring where he's at right now with
- 2:00:33Speaker 3: this political climate, and you put it on Netflix, the event,
- 2:00:38Speaker 3: the event can do well.
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: You got Canelo, who's known. You got an undefeated fighter,
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: which people love the shiny record, right, Oh no, I
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: have seen that Crawford or you start to google Crawford,
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: You're gonna be like, oh shit, this dude about it,
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: you know so, and then maybe even some of the
- 2:00:55Speaker 1: casuals kind of no a spense like oh yes that,
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: oh that's right. I didn't see that fight, but man,
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: he terrorized HI when I saw that, you know, so,
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: like it has potential and it is an event, but
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: you know, and you got Warren Buffett's a Crawford fan.
- 2:01:11Speaker 3: I mean yeah, yeah, yeah, he just retire, but they
- 2:01:12Speaker 3: could bring him in, you know, like, hey, you know,
- 2:01:16Speaker 3: come on, Warren, Warren Buffet's one of the most famous people.
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: Hey man, he played right, didn't he just right? Yeah?
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: I meanash that. He's like, no, we're taking that right
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: out right, you know, my slashing my ship. I don't
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: want to see this. It was time, right, he played
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: that right, man. He's like one of the only people
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: that played that, right. But that's not a surprise, right
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: because he's got a track record of that, right. I
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: love the thing of how he did the day or
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: the last day, that he doesn't splurge at McDonald's in
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: the breakfast, you know, like he still goes off of
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: how he did the other day and I'm not going
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: to splurge.
- 2:01:55Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:01:55Speaker 1: It's just like, Wow, that dude, he's just sound. Man.
- 2:02:01Speaker 1: He's got a lot of good stuff out there, living
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: in the same house he's living in forever. Like, It's
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: just it's a great thing. Actually, we need more billionaires
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: like that, Dan, We do, we do, We really do
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: like that. That's a respectable billionaire right there. Man. I
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: respect a lot about that guy. You gotta do what
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: you gotta do business. I get that. However, you know
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: there's a way to do it. I respect him. Oh yeah,
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: big time. So yeah, I appreciate you stopping by. Obviously
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: a long winded recap. What do you think of Eric's
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: and Lubin Do you think he's got some fights left
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: at fifty four or now? He's been out of the
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: ring for a while and and maybe he's gonna be
- 2:02:43Speaker 1: spoiled goods.
- 2:02:44Speaker 3: Even though he survived. You know, Ramos Lubin's chin always
- 2:02:48Speaker 3: worries me. I just don't don't feel like, don't feel
- 2:02:52Speaker 3: like he takes that good of a shot. And I've
- 2:02:54Speaker 3: always felt like that he's always going to have that vulnerability.
- 2:02:58Speaker 3: So I always feel.
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: Like he got a couple of fights in him at
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: fifty four. That'll be fun to watch and maybe he'll
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: win one. He's good offense, you know, he's got good offense.
- 2:03:06Speaker 3: I mean, I've always I've always liked his offensive package,
- 2:03:10Speaker 3: but you know, I've just always felt like kind.
- 2:03:14Speaker 1: Of vulnerable with the chin, right right, all right, Well,
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: I appreciate you stopping by. It's it's timberabol off time
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: for me. So I'm gonna go watch it, all right.
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: Chris, good luck, good luck with that one.
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: All right, man, you take it easy, all right. Good
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: good talk with you guys always, Yes, sir, I have
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: a good one, you two, all right? So kind of
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: wrapping this stuff up, Yeah, I'm really hoping that Canelo
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: Crawford thing. They just couldn't announce it like it was
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: in part of the deal. They couldn't announce it on
- 2:03:47Speaker 1: his own. You know, I really hope that's the case.
- 2:03:54Speaker 6: Uh what I.
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: Mean, Rolie's got options all of a sudden, doesn't he.
- 2:03:59Speaker 1: I do think Uh the Kakochi Kokachi, I think he's
- 2:04:08Speaker 1: gonna beat Lee Would but that's gonna be a brawl
- 2:04:13Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to. I think it's a pretty good fight,
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: uh card in general entertainment and whatnot. I think Martaya
- 2:04:22Speaker 1: will beat Abdullah, but that's a good You know, there's
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: good fights this weekend. I mean, I bet you they're
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: gonna be a lot better than what we just saw.
- 2:04:32Speaker 1: Aj did get elbow surgery. Sounds like he's gonna be
- 2:04:35Speaker 1: out six to eight weeks, but that probably means he
- 2:04:37Speaker 1: wants to fight again, but obviously it gets delayed. So
- 2:04:43Speaker 1: and I I am, yeah, I don't know. Maybe Would
- 2:04:46Speaker 1: could pull it off, but I'll go with Andy Kakachi.
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: I don't know if he'll stop him, but that's what
- 2:04:54Speaker 1: I'm going with. But yeah, hopefully you guys enjoyed the show.
- 2:05:00Speaker 1: It was a weird one this weekend. Man, Thank god
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: we got that last fight though, one of the better
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: fights of the year. John was saying it's right there
- 2:05:10Speaker 1: with this fight of the year, if not the fight
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: of the year and I don't think it's the fight
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: of the year, but I think it's pretty damn close.
- 2:05:17Speaker 1: And anybody making an argument with it, I can't sit
- 2:05:19Speaker 1: there and you know, make a big stink out of it,
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: that's for sure. But it was a hell of a fight.
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: And yeah, I think we're gonna wrap it up here.
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: Let's really hope the Netflix thing right, because that would
- 2:05:35Speaker 1: make it huge, especially if they hooked up the undercard.
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and I want to talk about Tim Brawdley
- 2:05:41Speaker 1: when he said, you know, these guys are getting overpaid
- 2:05:44Speaker 1: and you're starting to see it. We always talked about
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: how when the PBC came, well, first of all, if
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: you back it up, HBO overpaid for boxing to help
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: out their network back in the day. That's just what happened, right,
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: and you could see, you know, even though now you
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: look back at it and it's kind of funny, but
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: you know, when the PBC came, some of their fighters,
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: many of their fighters were making good ass money and
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: it did disrupt, you know, the market was you know,
- 2:06:25Speaker 1: messed up a little bit for HBO and their budget,
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: you know, because they were usually the big dog in
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: town and they'd have the most money and all that,
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: and then the Zone came and whether it was Zone
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: just in general Eddie, you know, the combination all that,
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: because it was Golden Boy at the start with Canelo
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: there to guarantee him the money they guaranteed him, but
- 2:06:51Speaker 1: without a pay per view arm that was kind of
- 2:06:56Speaker 1: crazy obviously, and and overall, but they now so that
- 2:07:02Speaker 1: was but it was a huge jump. Like I said,
- 2:07:04Speaker 1: you saw reporters boxing reporters, you know, ripping Thurman Garcia
- 2:07:10Speaker 1: because they both made a reported million dollars, you know,
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: which was just ridiculous to even make a huge point
- 2:07:18Speaker 1: about it. But then they went way over the top
- 2:07:25Speaker 1: with it to Zone and now Sadi's even gotten further
- 2:07:29Speaker 1: over the top, and so is Bradley right where they're
- 2:07:33Speaker 1: just now they're so comfortably they got a three fight
- 2:07:36Speaker 1: deal and they're getting way overpaid that they just want
- 2:07:38Speaker 1: to get to the next fight. You know, is there
- 2:07:40Speaker 1: an argument to be had that they're just getting overpaid
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: and and it's just making them Like Bacoli had that
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: great thing and he's like, ah, I'm done. You know,
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: I don't know, I think there is something to it.
- 2:07:54Speaker 1: I do think there's something to it. Obviously, and you're not.
- 2:07:59Speaker 1: It's not something where you're guarantee. You're getting a guarantee
- 2:08:04Speaker 1: because of what you you know, like what you generate.
- 2:08:11Speaker 1: You know, when Canelo gets guaranteed from PBC, it's what
- 2:08:15Speaker 1: he generates. They make money on those fights, and that's
- 2:08:21Speaker 1: cool once again to say, well because for a while,
- 2:08:24Speaker 1: you know, the PBC, they had too many cards and
- 2:08:28Speaker 1: too many networks in the air. It was hard to
- 2:08:30Speaker 1: keep track of sure, but you know, it wasn't pay
- 2:08:33Speaker 1: per view until they got the Fox deal, and that
- 2:08:35Speaker 1: still was only for a year. Now it's in a
- 2:08:38Speaker 1: different spot, obviously, but there was a whole lot of
- 2:08:43Speaker 1: basic cable free TV fights and so they parlayed it
- 2:08:50Speaker 1: into a deal. Now, the Fox deal didn't turn out
- 2:08:53Speaker 1: how they wanted to ultimately. Obviously the budget dropped after
- 2:08:58Speaker 1: COVID and whatever. All that's right, you can you can
- 2:09:01Speaker 1: talk about that. Not many people talk about that, but overall,
- 2:09:06Speaker 1: to just basically be all pay per views besides one
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: so far, it just doesn't make any sense if you're
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: gonna lose that much money anyway, and then if you
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: are going to do the pay per views, like we
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: said so many times, like dude, then at least make
- 2:09:23Speaker 1: them like you did that one in La last year,
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: where you could buy it on Amazon, you could buy
- 2:09:28Speaker 1: it on his own, you can buy it on ESPN Plus.
- 2:09:30Speaker 1: And the Sadi's are bought in what is it, ten
- 2:09:34Speaker 1: percent into the zone, so maybe that'll help them, you know,
- 2:09:38Speaker 1: in a couple of countries with football soccer, right, But
- 2:09:43Speaker 1: other than that and obviously the zone, they're having their
- 2:09:47Speaker 1: own issues as far as do they want to keep
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: certain deals and dipping out of deals and stuff like that.
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: So it's not a personal thing. I you know, I've
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: subscribed to his zone just second it came over here
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: and it was available, so I was a long time subscriber,
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: and even going to the app and not being you
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: you have this what many people were calling a bargain
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: to buy the Friday and Saturday and just pay ninety bucks. Okay,
- 2:10:18Speaker 1: but I couldn't even do it on my app if
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: I wanted to. So it's like, okay, so now, and
- 2:10:25Speaker 1: I thought I thought it'd just be there, so I
- 2:10:28Speaker 1: didn't have much time, and it was just like I'm
- 2:10:30Speaker 1: gonna do this real quick. Well, I bought the Friday Night.
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: One of my buddy who's a huge Canola find. I
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: was a Canelo fan. I wasn't gonna buy that main event.
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: There's some fights like I didn't buy the Berlina I
- 2:10:41Speaker 1: didn't buy. You know, plenty of fights I've bought from Canelo.
- 2:10:47Speaker 1: But you know, I didn't buy the job as fight
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: because I knew what I knew. It was the infomercial.
- 2:10:53Speaker 1: But with Canelo, you can gotta you can get away
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: with it because you know you he's he does have
- 2:10:59Speaker 1: casual fan so someone's gonna watch it, right, So that's all.
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: That's all I did. So I did by the Friday
- 2:11:05Speaker 1: night one, and it was it was trash. Besides te Femo,
- 2:11:12Speaker 1: it was it was trash. So I don't know, man,
- 2:11:15Speaker 1: it was a crazy It was just a weird weekend dude.
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: But shouts out to the main event with top rank
- 2:11:22Speaker 1: you know, anyway, get the stoppage and no, no, anyways,
- 2:11:26Speaker 1: not chinny, because it's all chenny is how you recruit, recoup.
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: Excuse me. You can say, uh, I just think that
- 2:11:35Speaker 1: he's not chinny. You know that's not the definition of chinny.
- 2:11:38Speaker 1: Chinny is when you get touched and you're we will
- 2:11:40Speaker 1: and wobbling all over the place. He clearly had his
- 2:11:44Speaker 1: wits about him to stay down for a little bit longer,
- 2:11:47Speaker 1: make sure he recovered, and sure enough he recovered. Anyway,
- 2:11:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna get out of here, enjoy the fights this weekend.
- 2:11:52Speaker 1: Like I said, there's nothing that just especially on the
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: US side, that that blows your way. I think that
- 2:11:59Speaker 1: UK is really solid, but there's some fights out there.
- 2:12:02Speaker 1: It's going to be action. We'll talk about it next week. Peace,
