- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line, second and eight, three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion as Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catch in
- 0:21Speaker 1: the end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Pumpas
- 0:25Speaker 1: and the kid out of Washington State has found himself
- 0:28Speaker 1: a place on this team powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:33Speaker 1: The Hawk Talk Preview Edition, Week seven team, the Seahawks
- 0:37Speaker 1: take on the two twelve and one destroy Lions. Nasa Choby,
- 0:42Speaker 1: what's on tap? What's on tap? These Lions are on tap?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Bump And as he mentioned, two twelve and one obviously
- 0:52Speaker 1: not a great record. That Troy Lions have had a
- 0:54Speaker 1: really tough season this year, much like the Seahawks. But
- 0:57Speaker 1: things can be worse, Seattle fans, trust me, they are
- 1:00Speaker 1: and they are worse. In Detroit, the Lions began the
- 1:02Speaker 1: season losing their first eight games than they tied. The
- 1:06Speaker 1: Steelers lost two more before they were able to taste
- 1:09Speaker 1: their first victory. They beat the Vikings twenty nine to
- 1:12Speaker 1: twenty seven, then turned around two weeks later and smacked
- 1:15Speaker 1: the Cardinals. So they're playing better football as of late.
- 1:18Speaker 1: They've won two of their last four. However, last week
- 1:21Speaker 1: they felled to the Falcons twenty to sixteen in painful fashion.
- 1:25Speaker 1: The Lines were without their starting quarterback Jared Goff, who
- 1:28Speaker 1: was placed on the reserve COVID list. So insert Tim Boyle,
- 1:32Speaker 1: who has made his second career start. Raiser hand if
- 1:34Speaker 1: you've heard of him, I cannot raise my hand. Anyway,
- 1:37Speaker 1: Tim actually did a pretty good job. It was a
- 1:39Speaker 1: close battle throughout the game came down to the final seconds.
- 1:42Speaker 1: The Falcons were up twenty to sixteen with two nineteen
- 1:44Speaker 1: remaining in the game with the football then on third
- 1:47Speaker 1: and seven, Matt Ryan found Russell Cage for a four
- 1:50Speaker 1: yard game Unfortunately, and inexplicably fumbled the football, gave the
- 1:54Speaker 1: Lines great field position. Late in the game. The Lions
- 1:57Speaker 1: would drive down to the Falcons nine yard line before
- 2:00Speaker 1: Boyle was intercepted at the one yard line with thirty
- 2:03Speaker 1: three seconds remaining in the game to seal the fate
- 2:06Speaker 1: for the Lions. Boyle finished the game twenty four of
- 2:09Speaker 1: thirty four for one hundred and eighty seven yards, one
- 2:11Speaker 1: touchdown in one interception. Jamal Williams led all rushlers with
- 2:15Speaker 1: seventy seven yards on nineteen carries. Aman Ross Saint Brown
- 2:20Speaker 1: really had a pretty good day nine receptions in ninety
- 2:23Speaker 1: one yards in one touchdown. So Bump, we know the
- 2:25Speaker 1: records aren't great for this head to head matchup between
- 2:27Speaker 1: the Hawks and the Lions. What are you seeing in
- 2:30Speaker 1: the head to head Beyond the records? You look at
- 2:32Speaker 1: the numbers, nass the Lions have a better offense on
- 2:36Speaker 1: paper than the Seattle Seahawks, except when it comes to
- 2:39Speaker 1: points per game. Every other category Lions got them be
- 2:43Speaker 1: total right doffense lines twenty third Hawks, twenty nine, rush
- 2:46Speaker 1: offense Lions sixteenth Hawks or twentieth. Pass offense Lions are
- 2:50Speaker 1: twenty fourth in the Hawks are twenty eighth. Like I mentioned,
- 2:53Speaker 1: only category offensively the Hawks have them is points per game.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Hawks are averaging twenty the Lions are averaging seventeen. When
- 3:00Speaker 1: you go over to the defense, total defense on paper
- 3:02Speaker 1: a better defense. Lions ran twenty seven, Hawks thirty first.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Against the run. The Hawks ranked sixteenth, the Lions are
- 3:08Speaker 1: twenty seventh. Past defensive lines of twenty fourth, the Hawks
- 3:11Speaker 1: are thirty first. Then, when it comes to giving up points,
- 3:15Speaker 1: the Hawks are tied for seventh allowing twenty points per
- 3:18Speaker 1: game and the Lions are twenty fifth allowing twenty five
- 3:21Speaker 1: points per game. Time of possession, there's been a struggle
- 3:24Speaker 1: for this team. The Lions average twenty nine minutes of possession,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the Hawks around twenty four interceptions. Lions got nine, the
- 3:32Speaker 1: Hawks have eight. So you look at these guys on paper,
- 3:35Speaker 1: it should be a pretty good matchup. You see the
- 3:37Speaker 1: teams that the Lions have beaten. They beat the Minnesota Vikings.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Hawks didn't do that, and they beat their Zuna Cardinals.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Hawks haven't done that either. So you know, you look
- 3:46Speaker 1: at the numbers, you look at the records the team
- 3:48Speaker 1: they've beaten. It should be a good game. You never know.
- 3:51Speaker 1: End of the season, two teams with nothing to lose.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Let's get to know their history. No, your history, Well,
- 3:58Speaker 1: these two teams have not played ton all time. The
- 4:01Speaker 1: Seahawks lead the all time series ten to five with
- 4:03Speaker 1: a one and oh record. In the postseason. Last meeting
- 4:06Speaker 1: between these two teams, the Seahawks beat the Lions twenty
- 4:08Speaker 1: eight to fourteen in Week eight of the twenty eighteen season. Now,
- 4:12Speaker 1: this was a really efficient day for the offense in
- 4:14Speaker 1: terms of the Seahawks. After a scoreless first quarter, the
- 4:17Speaker 1: second quarter of the Seawks just went off with twenty
- 4:19Speaker 1: one straight points, taking a twenty one to seven lead
- 4:22Speaker 1: into a half. Never really looked back after that. Russell
- 4:25Speaker 1: Wilson was an efficient fourteen of seventeen for two hundred
- 4:28Speaker 1: and forty eight yards in three tuddies. Chris Carson Man,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I miss seeing Chris. He had a tough day on
- 4:33Speaker 1: the ground, just running the ball hard, twenty five carries,
- 4:36Speaker 1: one hundred and five yards in one touchdown. And then
- 4:39Speaker 1: our guy Demo swag Man miss that dude. I'm shocked
- 4:42Speaker 1: that he's not tended up somewhere. Man, miss your Dimo
- 4:45Speaker 1: if you're out there. But Demo had a great day
- 4:47Speaker 1: that game, four receptions and ninety seven yards one touchdown ed.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Dixon and Tyler Lockett also added touchdowns. On the other
- 4:54Speaker 1: side for the Lions. They were led by a guy
- 4:56Speaker 1: named Quandre Diggs. He led the Lions with eight goals
- 5:00Speaker 1: in one TfL and every time I think about the
- 5:03Speaker 1: Lions I during the holiday season. We should be thankful.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I thank them for allowing the Seahawks to get Quandre
- 5:10Speaker 1: Diggs for a fifth round pick. That man is a
- 5:12Speaker 1: pro bowler, should be an All Pro. That was one
- 5:14Speaker 1: of the better steals all time in the Snyder era,
- 5:17Speaker 1: especially as of late so Detroit. Thank you for Quandre Diggs.
- 5:21Speaker 1: But let's get back into the NFC West. What's the
- 5:24Speaker 1: word and the Seahawks where the NFC West champs? Again?
- 5:33Speaker 1: What's the word in the West? On Hawk talk? Let's
- 5:38Speaker 1: look at this division. The Los Angeles Rams are going
- 5:42Speaker 1: on a run right now. They are now eleven and
- 5:43Speaker 1: four on top of the division. Right underneath them, you
- 5:47Speaker 1: have the airs of the Cardinals, who have been struggling
- 5:48Speaker 1: a bit. They are ten and five. The inconsistent San
- 5:52Speaker 1: Francisco forty nine ers are eight and seven. And you
- 5:54Speaker 1: know where we are five and ten at the bottom
- 5:57Speaker 1: of this thing. Now, last week the Rams played the Vikings.
- 6:00Speaker 1: The Rams continued their winning streak, this time taking down
- 6:03Speaker 1: the Vikings for the fourth consecutive win. They won by
- 6:05Speaker 1: a score thirty to twenty three. But we're in control
- 6:08Speaker 1: most of the game. The game changed in the third
- 6:10Speaker 1: quarter when Brandon Powell returned to plump sixty one yards
- 6:12Speaker 1: to the house, extending the Rams lead to ten. You know,
- 6:15Speaker 1: I love me some pump returns. Now, this was a
- 6:18Speaker 1: huge play because it helped the Rams erase Matthew Stafford's
- 6:22Speaker 1: turnover day. He was twenty one to thirty seven, one
- 6:25Speaker 1: hundred ninety seven yards, one touchdown, but three interceptions. It
- 6:28Speaker 1: seems he throws interceptions and bunches. It's not one or two.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It's like, look, if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna
- 6:33Speaker 1: do a big That's what Stafford does on the ground.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Sony Michelle let all ball carriers with one hundred and
- 6:38Speaker 1: thirty one yards on twenty seven carries, and then Cooper
- 6:41Speaker 1: cup slight day for him, ten catches, one hundred and
- 6:44Speaker 1: nine yards, not the major, And just like that, after
- 6:47Speaker 1: little outside helping us the Seahawks, the Rams are chasing
- 6:50Speaker 1: the Packers and the Cowboys for the top seed in
- 6:53Speaker 1: the NFC. That hurts, Yeah, I know I had to
- 6:56Speaker 1: throw that in there. Just got a little outside help
- 6:58Speaker 1: last week. I'm not gonna we don't need to rehab
- 7:00Speaker 1: ah some old stuff that was two weeks ago. It's
- 7:01Speaker 1: in the past. I know you can tell I'm obviously
- 7:04Speaker 1: not over that pass interference call and the one of
- 7:06Speaker 1: Bless Austin. But anyway, I digress. The Cardinals took on
- 7:09Speaker 1: the Colts, and part of the reason the Rams were
- 7:12Speaker 1: back in good position is because the Cardinals have just
- 7:14Speaker 1: been peruded the last couple of weeks. Man dropped three
- 7:17Speaker 1: consecutive games to the Rams, Lions, and Colts. This was
- 7:20Speaker 1: especially disappointing for the Cardinals given what the Colts were
- 7:23Speaker 1: dealing when going into this game. Man, they were missing
- 7:25Speaker 1: All Pro linebacker Darius Slender and that dude is a baller.
- 7:29Speaker 1: They're missing four starting offensive linemen and still found a
- 7:32Speaker 1: way to go down to Arizona, into the Red Sea
- 7:36Speaker 1: they call it, and beat the Cardinals. So the Cardinals
- 7:38Speaker 1: are struggling, Man. They are ten and five now. They
- 7:41Speaker 1: failed to clinch a playoff spot for the third straight week,
- 7:44Speaker 1: three and five since starting the season seven and zero.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Kyler Murray solid kind of a weird day, like decent
- 7:50Speaker 1: stat wise too, for two and forty five yards in
- 7:52Speaker 1: a touchdown. Also ran for seventy four yards, but Arizona
- 7:55Speaker 1: was just sloppy. Matt Prador missed two field goals, including
- 7:58Speaker 1: a go ahead try early in the fourth quarter. You
- 8:01Speaker 1: also miss an extra point. Other than Kyler, I mean,
- 8:04Speaker 1: no one else really balled out except Chase Edmonds. Really
- 8:07Speaker 1: only other productive guy for them offensively sixteen carries fifty
- 8:10Speaker 1: six yards a touchdown, also eight receptions seventy one yards. Defensively, Buddha,
- 8:16Speaker 1: he did have a day twelve tackles, one sack, two
- 8:18Speaker 1: two QB hits. He always finds a way to fill
- 8:21Speaker 1: up the stat sheet. And then Carson wentz Man, he
- 8:24Speaker 1: put the game out of reach when he found Desmond
- 8:26Speaker 1: Peyton in the back of the end zone. Really nice
- 8:28Speaker 1: played by him on a fourteen yard touchdown, making the
- 8:31Speaker 1: score twenty two to thirteen, and the fourth Colts would
- 8:33Speaker 1: eventually win by a score of twenty two to sixteen.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So the Cardinals, who are going to get into the playoffs,
- 8:39Speaker 1: even if they lose out, they're still going to get
- 8:40Speaker 1: in with ten wins. But they are limping in the playoffs.
- 8:43Speaker 1: They're not playing good football. I'm telling you right now,
- 8:45Speaker 1: I will be shocked if they win a game in
- 8:47Speaker 1: the playoffs. Yeah, the way they look offensively, defensively, they
- 8:52Speaker 1: don't look like the team that came out hot. Things
- 8:54Speaker 1: have changed for the Cardinals. Let's go to the forty
- 8:56Speaker 1: nine ers. They played the Titans on Thursday Night football,
- 9:00Speaker 1: blew a ten point lead and lost twenty to seventeen.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It was a good game though. Ryan Tannehill threw for
- 9:05Speaker 1: forty yards in the first half of finished with two
- 9:07Speaker 1: hundred and nine and a touchdown to Aj Brown. Aj
- 9:10Speaker 1: had a day. He was bawling. It was back from injury.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Eleven passes, one hundred forty nine yards. He's on injury reserve,
- 9:16Speaker 1: had an eighteen yard touchdown catch. They gave Tennessee a
- 9:19Speaker 1: seventeen to ten lead early in the fourth. Jimmy g
- 9:22Speaker 1: in the forty nine Ers would answer. They go on
- 9:24Speaker 1: to eight, played ninety five yard drive inning with the
- 9:26Speaker 1: Brandon i You touchdown, tying the score at seventeen. Then
- 9:29Speaker 1: Ryan Tannehill would take the Titans on a game winning
- 9:31Speaker 1: drive with the forty four yard field goal from Ryan
- 9:34Speaker 1: butlock Jimmy g on the day he was twenty six
- 9:37Speaker 1: to thirty five three twenty two, one touchdown, but had
- 9:40Speaker 1: two costly interception and interceptions. And then Diebo does what
- 9:44Speaker 1: he does, heavy lifting for the guy for the team
- 9:47Speaker 1: nine receptions one hundred and fifty nine yards thirty two
- 9:49Speaker 1: yards rushing on five carries. Diebo might be top five
- 9:55Speaker 1: most versatile players of the league right now. You know,
- 9:58Speaker 1: when you you know set up position groups. You know
- 10:02Speaker 1: when you get recruited, people get recruited as an athlete. Yeah,
- 10:05Speaker 1: they're gonna have to start adding that for more guys
- 10:08Speaker 1: like Deebo Samuel come around in the NFL, they say,
- 10:10Speaker 1: what's your position? Athlete? I do everything. I can throw it,
- 10:13Speaker 1: I can run it, I can do everything. Shoot, he
- 10:14Speaker 1: could probably play dB Tebo Samuel is just an athlete,
- 10:18Speaker 1: pure and simple, and he's still somehow one of the
- 10:21Speaker 1: most underrated guys in the National Football League. I have
- 10:23Speaker 1: no idea where the forty nine ers will be without him.
- 10:26Speaker 1: If we want to take a look at these playoffs standings,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I'll just breeze through this. Packers one seed to twelve
- 10:31Speaker 1: and three, Cowboys eleven and four, Rams eleven and four,
- 10:35Speaker 1: Bucks eleven and four, Cardinals ten and five, forty nine
- 10:37Speaker 1: Ors eight and seven, Eagles eight and seven currently holding
- 10:41Speaker 1: down the final playoffs spot. And I'll just say this,
- 10:44Speaker 1: get off my chest. It's so painful knowing how many
- 10:48Speaker 1: games the Seahawks could have won this season, and to
- 10:51Speaker 1: see if they would just even with all that, if
- 10:53Speaker 1: they would have just took care of business the last
- 10:54Speaker 1: two weeks, they'd be one game out. I have a
- 10:57Speaker 1: feeling the Eagles are gonna choke down the stretch the value.
- 11:00Speaker 1: The Vikings are familing, the Falcons are seven and eight,
- 11:02Speaker 1: The Saints are going downhill, Washington's going downhill. Things are
- 11:05Speaker 1: starting to set up the right way for the Seahawks. Unfortunately,
- 11:08Speaker 1: whether you don't win and take care of business on
- 11:10Speaker 1: your own front, it doesn't matter. The playoffs are not
- 11:12Speaker 1: in reach. So let's turn it back into this matchup
- 11:16Speaker 1: with the Detroit Lions. Man up, Who is this man up?
- 11:27Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk? All right, all right, let's start at
- 11:31Speaker 1: the quarterback position. Good news for the Lions. Jared Golf
- 11:34Speaker 1: is bag after being on the cold reserved list. Tim
- 11:36Speaker 1: Boyle was there in his absence, made his second career
- 11:39Speaker 1: start four the Lions against the Falcons win twenty four
- 11:42Speaker 1: or thirty four, one hundred and eighty seven yards and
- 11:44Speaker 1: one touchdown, but through a costly interception late in the game.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Golf has been inconsistent this season. He's played well, but
- 11:50Speaker 1: then he struggled at time. Do you look at his
- 11:52Speaker 1: numbers his three eleven for four sixty four three thousand yards,
- 11:55Speaker 1: seventeen touchdowns, eight interceptions, and it's completing sixty seven percent
- 12:00Speaker 1: his passes. The common thing when talking about Jared Goff
- 12:03Speaker 1: centers around the success he had with McVay. Under mcvayh
- 12:06Speaker 1: Jared Goff was forty two and twenty that's not including
- 12:09Speaker 1: the playoffs. Without McVeigh he is two seventeen in one. Now,
- 12:13Speaker 1: there are some factors that are involved there. The rams
- 12:16Speaker 1: were really good from twenty seventeen to twenty twenty, and
- 12:20Speaker 1: as a rookie without McVeagh, golf was owing seven. So
- 12:23Speaker 1: there's no denying mcveah has had an effect on the
- 12:25Speaker 1: play of Jared Goff. In nine regular season games against
- 12:29Speaker 1: the Seahoufs, Jared Goff is two hundred and two for
- 12:31Speaker 1: three twenty four twenty four hundred and six yards, eight
- 12:34Speaker 1: touchdowns and nine interceptions. He's been sacked seventeen times and
- 12:38Speaker 1: fumbled twice. In the playoff game last year, he went
- 12:40Speaker 1: nine of nineteen, one fifty five and one touchdown and
- 12:43Speaker 1: he came off the bench. He wasn't he supposed to
- 12:45Speaker 1: play that game, but he came off the bench, we'd
- 12:47Speaker 1: have a thumb injury or something like that. Ended up
- 12:49Speaker 1: having a good day. The Seahouks had the thirty first,
- 12:52Speaker 1: our thirty first, and total defense given up three hundred
- 12:54Speaker 1: and eighty five yards per game. They're thirty first against
- 12:56Speaker 1: the past, allowing two seventy per game, and fell to
- 12:59Speaker 1: seven than the NFL and points allowed at twenty point four.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Jared Golf plays decent against the Seahawks, but this isn't
- 13:08Speaker 1: the Jared Golf of the Rams. This is the Jared
- 13:10Speaker 1: Golf with the Detroit Lions. Doesn't have too many weapons
- 13:13Speaker 1: out there. It would be really disappointed if he disappointed
- 13:17Speaker 1: if he came out and played his best game of
- 13:19Speaker 1: the year. I feel like guys tend to do that
- 13:21Speaker 1: when they're playing against the Seahawks. This hope it doesn't
- 13:24Speaker 1: happen this week, I'd hope. So. I mean, the Seahawks
- 13:27Speaker 1: already lost to you know, Taylor Heinekey, Cole McCoy, Nick
- 13:30Speaker 1: Foles last week. I'm hoping that trend does not continue.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And a crazy thing about so they gave up twenty
- 13:35Speaker 1: four points last week, just over their average, and they're
- 13:39Speaker 1: still around their average. They're still in the season giving
- 13:40Speaker 1: up twenty points per game. But clearly some other teams
- 13:43Speaker 1: have good defensive battles last week because they fell from
- 13:45Speaker 1: four to seven. But yeah, I'm hoping they can lock
- 13:48Speaker 1: up Jared Goff because he's never done a ton against
- 13:51Speaker 1: the Seahawks. He's never just gone off. He's always just
- 13:53Speaker 1: been efficient. But he will turn them all over. So
- 13:55Speaker 1: on the other side, let's look at our quarterback Russell
- 13:57Speaker 1: Wilson against this Lions front seven. Russell came out hot
- 14:01Speaker 1: in the snow last week. He looked up with DK
- 14:02Speaker 1: metcalf on that forty one yard touchdown, also had a
- 14:05Speaker 1: nice touchdown pass at Gerald. Everett finished the day with
- 14:08Speaker 1: decent numbers sixteen to twenty seven one and eighty one
- 14:11Speaker 1: yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, we saw him miss a
- 14:14Speaker 1: couple of big throws, so I don't know how much
- 14:17Speaker 1: the weather impacted that finger and just how he played
- 14:20Speaker 1: last week, but just some uncharacteristic things we usually do
- 14:22Speaker 1: not see from him. Those are throws that he normally
- 14:24Speaker 1: makes in his sleep. So we're roping again. Bounced back
- 14:27Speaker 1: this weekend. Again, weather could be a factor again, so
- 14:30Speaker 1: we'll see. Hopefully the Seahawks learned a little bit last
- 14:33Speaker 1: week about how that's going to be if there's snow
- 14:35Speaker 1: on the ground again. On the season in twenty twenty one,
- 14:38Speaker 1: Russell's two twenty four for three forty five two thousand,
- 14:41Speaker 1: six hundred and thirty nine yards, eighteen tuddies, five interceptions,
- 14:45Speaker 1: also thirty three carries for one hundred and fifty four
- 14:47Speaker 1: yards and one touchdown. So when you look at the numbers,
- 14:51Speaker 1: those don't look bad. Eighteen touchdowns, five interceptions. It's just
- 14:56Speaker 1: we have such a high standard for us all Wilson,
- 14:58Speaker 1: and you know he was an MVP conversation last year.
- 15:00Speaker 1: We expect him to be elad at all times just
- 15:02Speaker 1: because that's how he's been for the last decade. So
- 15:05Speaker 1: when he doesn't do stuff at that level, it makes
- 15:07Speaker 1: your question. You start wondering what's going on. So overall
- 15:10Speaker 1: numbers are pretty decent. We just would hope Russell can
- 15:13Speaker 1: get back to what we know we can do, and
- 15:14Speaker 1: hopefully that starts on Sunday, especially going up against this
- 15:17Speaker 1: Detroit defense, who you know, they're near the bottom of everything.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Twenty seventh in total defense, twenty seventh against run, twenty
- 15:23Speaker 1: four against the pass twenty five in points allowed. They
- 15:26Speaker 1: don't get after the quarterback either. We only got twenty
- 15:28Speaker 1: five sacks on the season. So if there was a game,
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'm hoping it's this week. We knew the Bears actually
- 15:33Speaker 1: had a decent defense on paper. Last week, we knew
- 15:35Speaker 1: that heading into the game they actually played well. So
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'm hoping that that holds true this week. Detroy line
- 15:40Speaker 1: is not great defensively, so hoping Russell Wilson and Shane
- 15:42Speaker 1: Waldron and company can take advantage. Not great defensively, but
- 15:47Speaker 1: they do have a couple of guys who will catch
- 15:49Speaker 1: the rock form. Starting off with a monros st Brown
- 15:52Speaker 1: and tight end t J. Hawkins, and that is the
- 15:54Speaker 1: other matchup we're looking at. One of the best players
- 15:57Speaker 1: obviously is a Monross Saint Brown at USC product. He
- 16:00Speaker 1: has seventy four receptions six hundred ninety two yards in
- 16:03Speaker 1: three touchdowns. He's a dynamic player, has good hands, will
- 16:06Speaker 1: beat you in different end ways. Now you go to
- 16:09Speaker 1: tight end t J. Hockinson has been the other key
- 16:11Speaker 1: target for Jared Golf Hawkins and sixty one receptions five
- 16:14Speaker 1: hundred and eighty three yards in four touchdowns. Now the
- 16:19Speaker 1: Lions passing the ball. I think it's one of their strengths. Right,
- 16:23Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about their running backs here in a minute,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but I think with Jared Golf and then Amanse Brown
- 16:28Speaker 1: really finding himself as a professional and tight end Hackinson,
- 16:32Speaker 1: they have enough to make some place. You know, you
- 16:34Speaker 1: can't just sleep on these guys. And especially because we
- 16:37Speaker 1: have DJ Read and bless Austin who are on the
- 16:39Speaker 1: COVID list, it's kind of been a bunch of shuffling
- 16:41Speaker 1: going on in that second thirties last couple of weeks,
- 16:44Speaker 1: and we've also lost Trey Brown, Sidney Jones, John Reid.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I mean I I just named nass like what four
- 16:51Speaker 1: to five names in that secondary. It's hard to find
- 16:53Speaker 1: cohesiveness when you have all these movement pieces. But this
- 16:57Speaker 1: defense has found a way to allow teams to push
- 17:00Speaker 1: the ball down the field but not score a lot
- 17:02Speaker 1: of touchdowns. So hopefully this trend continues and the Seahawks
- 17:06Speaker 1: can lock down Saint Brown and t J. Hawkinson, no
- 17:08Speaker 1: question about it. Hopefully DJ Reid and blessed us and
- 17:10Speaker 1: come off the COVID list. The NFL had new protocols
- 17:13Speaker 1: that came out yesterday where people only have to quarantine
- 17:16Speaker 1: or be on the list for five days. If they're
- 17:18Speaker 1: symptom free, they can return. So hopefully that'll help get
- 17:21Speaker 1: a lot of guys back for the Seahawks because their
- 17:23Speaker 1: secondary is thin as you mentioned. But let's flip over
- 17:27Speaker 1: the other matchup you talked about running backs. This is
- 17:29Speaker 1: something they do pretty well. They got some good athletes
- 17:31Speaker 1: in the backfield. Speaking of Detroit, we'll start with DeAndre Swift.
- 17:35Speaker 1: He is the Lions leading rusher where one hundred and
- 17:37Speaker 1: forty carries for five hundred and fifty five yards in
- 17:39Speaker 1: four touchdowns. He's also got fifty six receptions for four
- 17:42Speaker 1: hundred twenty nine yards and two touchdowns. However, he's not
- 17:45Speaker 1: played it's Thanksgiving after injuring his shoulder. He's getting closer,
- 17:49Speaker 1: so we don't know what his status is leading into
- 17:51Speaker 1: this game. In my opinion, he's their best player they
- 17:53Speaker 1: are definitely their offense is at their best when he's
- 17:56Speaker 1: on the field. If he cannot go, Jamal Williams, he's
- 17:59Speaker 1: the second team or the second leading rusher for the
- 18:01Speaker 1: team one hundred twenty nine carries, five hundred and thirty
- 18:03Speaker 1: six yards, two touchdowns. He missed the two previous games
- 18:07Speaker 1: on the COVID list, but he came back last week
- 18:09Speaker 1: against the Falcons seventy seven yards on nineteen carries, and
- 18:13Speaker 1: his other running back, Craig Reynolds, is a pretty good
- 18:15Speaker 1: story man. He's played in just three games this year,
- 18:18Speaker 1: but in those games forty eight carries two hundred and
- 18:20Speaker 1: twenty four yards. With injuries for Swift and Williams, Reynolds
- 18:23Speaker 1: was called up and rushed for one hundred and twenty
- 18:25Speaker 1: six yards on twenty six carries in that upset victory
- 18:28Speaker 1: over the Cardinals. But man, he's had a wild journey
- 18:31Speaker 1: this year. Back on August twelfth, after missing a flight
- 18:34Speaker 1: and experiencing delays, he's a free running back ghost to Motown,
- 18:38Speaker 1: signs with Detroit and then gets in essentially signs with
- 18:41Speaker 1: him and is playing the very next day against the
- 18:42Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills in the preseason. He's in the huddle and
- 18:46Speaker 1: he's literally introducing himself to guys on the team because
- 18:48Speaker 1: they have no idea who he is. And he's playing
- 18:50Speaker 1: in forty nine yards, got a touchdown off six carries.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Now running his back coach Deuce Staley gave him a
- 18:56Speaker 1: nickname to call him Netflix out there, not because he
- 18:59Speaker 1: doesn't work. Card just wants to like chill all that.
- 19:01Speaker 1: But it just came because he missed a flight and
- 19:03Speaker 1: is just waiting to get back on the team. So
- 19:05Speaker 1: he's been a great story. So Duce Daley shout out
- 19:08Speaker 1: to him. I remember watching him run back in those
- 19:10Speaker 1: old Philly teams, so he was a great running back
- 19:12Speaker 1: back in the day. So the running backs, essentially for
- 19:15Speaker 1: the Lions, they asked some talent there. They're decent at
- 19:17Speaker 1: running the football. They have several starting caliber running backs.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Last week, the Seahawks hell David Montgomery to forty five
- 19:25Speaker 1: yards and twenty one carries. He kind of got loose
- 19:27Speaker 1: in the other ways. So it'll be a good test
- 19:29Speaker 1: for the Seahawks defense. Definitely need to shut down the
- 19:31Speaker 1: run against the Lions. All right, Let's look at the
- 19:34Speaker 1: receiving core, dk metcal Tider, Lockett, and Nasty even through
- 19:38Speaker 1: d Eskridge into the mix. These guys got to be
- 19:41Speaker 1: a factor against the line secondary. In games that the
- 19:44Speaker 1: Hawks have won, dk and Lockett have been a factor.
- 19:48Speaker 1: In games that they lost, dk Unlockett have been non factors.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Last week, combined, they had five receptions for seventy one
- 19:54Speaker 1: yards and one touchdown. DK caught his first touchdown since
- 19:57Speaker 1: Halloween against the jack Man, and it was held under
- 20:01Speaker 1: sixty yards for the ninth time this season. Crazy On
- 20:05Speaker 1: the year, DK has sixty four receptions, eight hundred forty
- 20:08Speaker 1: six yards and nine touchdowns. Titler Lockett sixty five receptions,
- 20:12Speaker 1: one thousand and fifty three yards and five touchdowns. Locket
- 20:15Speaker 1: is five yards away from setting a career highing reception
- 20:17Speaker 1: yards for a single season, and he's also two hundred
- 20:19Speaker 1: fifty yards away from breaking DK's single season yards record
- 20:23Speaker 1: that he set last year. It would take two huge games,
- 20:26Speaker 1: but he can definitely still get it done. Defensively, Detroit
- 20:29Speaker 1: is averaging against the past, ranking twenty four twenty fourth,
- 20:34Speaker 1: allowing twenty forty four yards per game. Amani Araya, I
- 20:38Speaker 1: say that right, Sure, let's go. I got I gotta
- 20:41Speaker 1: stay right because I'm doing a film session and I'm
- 20:43Speaker 1: breaking down his film. So Amani al Ruwaya is having
- 20:46Speaker 1: a great season for Detroit in the secondary, fifty seven tackles,
- 20:49Speaker 1: two tackles for loss, eleven passes defended, and six interceptions.
- 20:53Speaker 1: We'll see what he does on Sunday. We'll see what
- 20:55Speaker 1: the weather's like on Sunday too. Two snowy games in
- 20:57Speaker 1: a row. Impossible. They can't do that, right, I would hope. So.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I mean, when I'm standing in the radio booth, it
- 21:02Speaker 1: was fine because I'm a little far back, but those
- 21:03Speaker 1: windows are open. Man, it was cold. It was freezing
- 21:05Speaker 1: a touchdown city. But still come see us pre game
- 21:08Speaker 1: show starts at all right, bub was getting the pass
- 21:11Speaker 1: to victory at the forty five, waits for the snaff.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Michael Dickson puts it down. That kick is away and
- 21:20Speaker 1: that kick is gun. Say I'm when it's gun. It's
- 21:24Speaker 1: a pass to victory. On Hawk Talk, four quarters, bump,
- 21:28Speaker 1: four quarters. The Seahawks have seldomly put together four quarters
- 21:32Speaker 1: start to finish in a game and all this season,
- 21:34Speaker 1: and that's what I'm asking for. I'm asking for a
- 21:36Speaker 1: great effort, Not that they haven't been trying, but just
- 21:38Speaker 1: be consistent through four quarters. They haven't been able to
- 21:42Speaker 1: stay an effort for sixty minutes. They've had a lot
- 21:44Speaker 1: of good moments, quarters, drives times. I just want to
- 21:47Speaker 1: see him put it together for a full sixty minutes. Yeah,
- 21:51Speaker 1: please put pressure on Jared Goff. He will throw the
- 21:53Speaker 1: ball away. This is the same guy where you used
- 21:55Speaker 1: to see him. Man, he will panic thought across the middle,
- 21:57Speaker 1: thought up there and allow you to make plays. And
- 22:00Speaker 1: let's see more calls done Lap. Why save him now?
- 22:03Speaker 1: I know we've done the load management thing all year.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Two games, five sacks. I want to see Dunlap out there,
- 22:08Speaker 1: no question about it, man, and we've dune Lamp out there.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Then you stop the run, keep it and keep everything
- 22:13Speaker 1: in front. Just I wanted to keep it simple. Let's
- 22:15Speaker 1: quote our guy Dave Lyman. I've had coaches tell me
- 22:17Speaker 1: this my whole life. Coach Stewart, coach Hummel. Alignment, assignment,
- 22:21Speaker 1: key boom. Those three things get three pluses on the
- 22:24Speaker 1: great sheet. You're gonna be good to go. Don't make it,
- 22:27Speaker 1: don't make it crazy. Man, Stop the run, keep everything
- 22:29Speaker 1: in front of you. Against his Detroit team, you should
- 22:31Speaker 1: be defined on defense. Stop the run and get the
- 22:35Speaker 1: run going. Rashotte Penny has proven at least the last
- 22:37Speaker 1: what three games that look he can make some plays.
- 22:40Speaker 1: He's playing with confidence. His interviews are different. You can
- 22:43Speaker 1: just feel the confidence in him. Man. He's breaking tackles.
- 22:46Speaker 1: He's not just getting these easy runs where he's bouncing outside,
- 22:49Speaker 1: he's lawering his paths. He looks like a real running
- 22:52Speaker 1: back right now. I want to see Rashotte get the rock.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Absolutely got to see Rashade carrying that rock man. He's
- 22:58Speaker 1: been crazy this last couple of weeks. Another guy I
- 23:00Speaker 1: want to see making plays or guys. It's locking in
- 23:03Speaker 1: DK Man all year. We've said it, we just talked
- 23:06Speaker 1: about it. When we win games, those guys go off
- 23:08Speaker 1: when we don't. It's not good for us. So find
- 23:10Speaker 1: a way to get them involved. They can't have five
- 23:13Speaker 1: receptions combined with them. And Joe Leverett I'll group him
- 23:15Speaker 1: in there too, because he's been one of the bright
- 23:17Speaker 1: spots offensively catching the football. So I want to see
- 23:19Speaker 1: all three of those guys making plays running the football.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I just want to see something good. Bumpy Canny, you
- 23:24Speaker 1: know it's it's still the holiday season and there's still
- 23:26Speaker 1: snow on the ground. It still feels like it. I
- 23:28Speaker 1: just want to see something good happen on Sunday. Please,
- 23:31Speaker 1: come on, it's been a long year. Let's send the
- 23:33Speaker 1: twelves out with a great went at home. They deserve it.
- 23:36Speaker 1: They've been hanging in there with you guys, Let's get
- 23:38Speaker 1: or done at home, Seattle. Where can the people hear us?
- 23:42Speaker 1: And all the other podcasts you got going now so
- 23:45Speaker 1: they can hear us everywhere? To quote our guy Jalen Rose,
- 23:48Speaker 1: give the people what they want. Seahawks Insiders with Jen
- 23:54Speaker 1: Mueller and John Boyle, The Huddle with Dave Lyman, Stacey
- 23:57Speaker 1: Ross and Jay Keeps. Seahawks Stories with Robert Turbin. Be
- 24:01Speaker 1: on the lookout for two new episodes that just dropped
- 24:03Speaker 1: with Steve Rabel Seahawks rewind Here Incident analysis right after
- 24:06Speaker 1: each and every Seahawks game on Seahawks Radio Network, Catch
- 24:10Speaker 1: interviews reaction from palm Oyer, Michael Bumps, Robert Turban and
- 24:13Speaker 1: Ray Roberts. Bump you mentioned it. Send us out on
- 24:16Speaker 1: a victory at home Seahawks needed. Let's let's go one
- 24:19Speaker 1: another this week. The people won a victory. Let's get
- 24:22Speaker 1: it done against the Detroit Lions at home. That was
- 24:25Speaker 1: Hawk Talk Preview Week seventeen. Seahawks at home burst the
- 24:29Speaker 1: Detroit Lions on Michael Bumps, he is NASA Choby talked
