- Sean Graver: Well, you're a decade or two into this career, and you worked hard to get here. You climbed. And somewhere along the way, a question started entering your thoughts that you weren't expecting. Is this actually what I want for the next 20 years? Now it's not a bad job, and you're not a failure. But just maybe this is the wrong career ladder, even though you've been climbing it really well. Well, my name is Sean, and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. So King Solomon writes something that fits this exact moment in Proverbs 169. The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Now we talked about this verse a few episodes back, but I think it fits in this situation too. Now, Solomon doesn't say that your planning was wasted. But he does say that your steps get established or guided by someone who sees further down the road than you can from where you're standing. Now that may not feel like a great comfort when you're questioning a path you've already invested years into. But this kind of doubt doesn't mean you've failed or made wrong decisions. It might mean yet you're finally paying attention to something that's been true for a while. Or That God is revealing something to you that you couldn't see before. Now the best move is not to panic and blow up what you've already built. And it's also not to ignore the question that you're hearing and and push through it on autopilot either. The best move is to bring the question to God instead of just running it over and over in your head at two in the morning. So ask what's actually true here. Ask what part of this is like fatigue talking and what part is something really worth listening to. You know, maybe it's just a Sabbath rest that's missing. you don't have to have the whole next 20 years figured out today. You just have to take the next step. So let's pray. Well, God, we've spent years building something, and now we're not sure it's What we actually want to keep building. So give us the honesty to sit with that question and instead of running from it, and help us tell the difference between exhaustion and genuine direction. And wherever this leads, remind us that our steps are held by someone who sees further than we can. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Go make today count.
