Transcript
- 0:00It is the first week in October, and in the news today and the last couple days,
- 0:05people have been talking about the Russian plague.
- 0:08There have been rumors, there have been a lot of speculations.
- 0:11I do not know the future. I cannot say that we are in a, you know,
- 0:17February of 2020 time period. I don't know what's going to happen.
- 0:21But I do know that it's fall, and every single winter, influenza goes around,
- 0:27COVID goes around, GI bugs go around.
- 0:30Illnesses happen in the winter. So after recording,
- 0:34the episode last week or the week before, I mentioned my winter wellness workshop
- 0:39and I went back on the website and I polished it up and I made it free instead
- 0:44of a $27 event like I had last year.
- 0:47I made it free and it is available on my site. You can watch the video.
- 0:52You can see all of the slides. I try to make it really accessible.
- 0:56It's only 31 minutes long because I know that everybody is busy.
- 1:00So what I'm going to do today on the podcast is I am going to share the audio from that workshop.
- 1:07Because I am sharing the audio and not the full video, obviously you can go
- 1:12to the website and you can watch the video for free. So.
- 1:16If I reference something on the screen, obviously you won't be able to see that in the podcast.
- 1:21But I think, if I remember right, everything should be pretty understandable
- 1:26by listening to the podcast instead of watching it visually.
- 1:30The link for the full thing is down in the show notes, of course.
- 1:33And if you want to just head over there, go to healthwithhashimonos.com and
- 1:39then scroll all the way to the bottom.
- 1:41In the footer menu, I have a learning section where you can see all of the webinars that I have done.
- 1:47I have a webinar about menopause and hormones and GLP-1, and I have this webinar about winter wellness.
- 1:54So you can head down there or head to the link in the show notes and share it with a friend.
- 1:59This masterclass actually started probably 15 years ago.
- 2:03Every winter or every fall when I had that request to get a flu shot at work,
- 2:08I would formulate my response and refuse.
- 2:11And then I would often make a Facebook post about what I was doing to prepare
- 2:15for winter so that we could have the healthiest winter possible, myself and my family.
- 2:20And those fall posts were always pretty popular with my friends and my family.
- 2:26And so each year I would post it, each year I'd get feedback.
- 2:29I eventually turned it into a webinar and then refined it until it is what it
- 2:33is today. I hope it's super helpful for you.
- 2:36You will hear three layers of defense, things that you can do proactively.
- 2:41I also walk through what to do when you get sick or if you get sick.
- 2:46And we cover free things you can do and paid things you can do.
- 2:50Things, you know, body, mind, spirit, diet, environment. I try to incorporate
- 2:53all of the things like you expect from me while keeping it simple and sustainable.
- 2:58So enjoy this replay or head down to the show so that you can watch it visually.
- 3:03Maybe you got a prescription and a follow-up appointment for six weeks later,
- 3:07or maybe you got told that your
- 3:08numbers are fine for now and we're just going to keep an eye on things.
- 3:11Either way, your provider probably did not tell you that Hashimoto's is two things and not one.
- 3:16It's a thyroid that can't keep up because it's also an immune system that's attacking the thyroid.
- 3:22Medication can help handle the first, but the second one is all yours to work
- 3:26on. You are the CEO of your own health.
- 3:29You can start working on that immune system side before your labs say that you have to.
- 3:34Hi, I'm Esther Yunkin. I am a registered nurse. I've been a nurse for 25 years,
- 3:38and I am the host of the Health with Hashimoto's podcast.
- 3:41I am the nurse who helps you sort your Hashimoto's into thyroid or immune. Let's sort.
- 3:46Sick season, not you. This is your winter immunity blueprint. Welcome.
- 3:53Let's first talk about the cost of being sick. Of course, it's annoying.
- 3:57Nobody wants to be sick. There's an actual cost to being sick.
- 4:01And yes, sometimes it's money. It's lost wages at your job, lost productivity
- 4:06if you work for yourself.
- 4:07The getting sick costs money. It also costs time.
- 4:12That's one of the biggest things. It costs time. It zaps your energy quickly.
- 4:17Even sucks some of your joy. And as it's doing all of that, you get kind of irritable.
- 4:24And so one of the costs that we don't talk about much when we get sick can be
- 4:29the cost to relationships. We snap at each other. We argue more.
- 4:32We're just quick to pick fights because we feel so miserable.
- 4:36So what is the cost for you and for your family during the winter when you are getting sick?
- 4:42Write that down in your workbook. You should have gotten a workbook along with the link to this video.
- 4:48And here is how to get the most out of the masterclass.
- 4:52Basically, don't multitask. I know, I know, I'm a huge multitasker.
- 4:56I want to watch a masterclass while I'm doing something, while I'm cooking, while I'm cleaning.
- 5:02But to get the most out of this masterclass, print out the workbook and actually do just that one thing.
- 5:09Close the door, grab that workbook, grab your water, grab your favorite pen.
- 5:14Let's make this winter different.
- 5:18The winter reality is that we share more than cookies.
- 5:21We share illnesses in the winter. And there's some different reasons for it.
- 5:26We're all confined into one space. We're not outside as much.
- 5:29We share illnesses.
- 5:32Another winter reality is the medical establishments. They are understaffed
- 5:37and they're overwhelmed.
- 5:38That is just the nature of our broken system right now. Especially as an ER
- 5:43nurse, I know that they are so overwhelmed.
- 5:46I also know that it's really hard to get into clinics.
- 5:48The winter reality is that places are overwhelmed and understaffed.
- 5:53Hopefully that changes sometime in the future.
- 5:56But as for now, it is what it is.
- 5:58And the thing is, you just want overall health. You want to get through the
- 6:02entire winter without any of those costs of illness. You want to feel well.
- 6:07You want to feel well, body, mind, soul, everything, right? That's why you're here.
- 6:13So you're going to walk away from this masterclass with three simple layers
- 6:19that you can stack for unbreakable winter immunity.
- 6:23Number one, I'm going to teach you how to reduce the threats.
- 6:25Some of these are going to be basic, like washing your hands,
- 6:28things that you have heard before.
- 6:30Some of them are going to be new. I'm going to teach you how to support your
- 6:33immune system and also strengthen your defenses. Those are the three layers.
- 6:37We're going to talk about each one, and I will give you simple,
- 6:40sustainable, practical things that you can do for all three layers.
- 6:45Because it is sick season, not for you. This is your winter immunity blueprint.
- 6:50My name is Esther Yunkin. I'm a registered nurse. I'm also a holistic health coach.
- 6:55It is my mission to help women who feel broken and exhausted discover wholeness,
- 7:01energy, and peace so that they can experience life to its fullest.
- 7:06And I look at your health. I look at you through a whole person lens.
- 7:10And when I say whole person, I mean body, mind, spirit, diet, and environment.
- 7:17All together form the whole you. This is officially the name of my business.
- 7:23I also go by Health with Hashimoto's because that's my podcast.
- 7:28But this was the foundation of my business because I see you as a whole person
- 7:32and all five of these have different things that you can do to support your whole health.
- 7:38In the winter, we encounter several different common illnesses.
- 7:42COVID-19 will never go away. It's just going to come back more in the winters, just like influenza.
- 7:48We have cold and flu season. It's now cold flu and COVID season.
- 7:52RSV increases in the winter, croup increases in the winter, and then the common
- 7:56cold virus increases in the winter.
- 7:59Welcome to cold and flu season.
- 8:01Of course, please seek medical attention if you actually are truly sick and
- 8:06emergent. If you're having difficulty breathing or shortness of breath,
- 8:09you're having persistent pain or pressure in your chest if you're a woman,
- 8:13then also if you have it in your shoulder and arm.
- 8:17Keep in mind that that is a symptom of a heart attack in a woman.
- 8:21Also, if you have a new confusion, if you notice this in your kids,
- 8:24inability to arouse somebody, obviously a problem.
- 8:27If somebody's turning blue, please seek emergent medical care.
- 8:32Also, the FDA is particularly concerned. They don't want anybody to make claims about products.
- 8:38They don't want you to feel like something is claiming to cure,
- 8:42prevent, you know, any of this stuff.
- 8:45No claims. So, the statements in this workshop have not been evaluated by the
- 8:49Food and Drug Administration.
- 8:51None of these lifestyles, foods, or products are intended to diagnose,
- 8:55treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- 8:57On the other hand, everything I say is rooted in research and in science.
- 9:01These things have been proven but they are not intended to diagnose treat cure
- 9:06or prevent any disease according to the FDA.
- 9:10Layer number one you want to reduce the threats
- 9:14it is the goal to make it harder for germs and bad guys to win we want to reduce
- 9:21the threats you know not let them in in the first place thank you to my kids
- 9:25for making this amazing lego castle,
- 9:28I get to use for all three layers. You'll notice that come back.
- 9:32When you're reducing the threats, of course, you're going to stay home when
- 9:35you're sick. And you're going to hope other people do too.
- 9:37That is one of the biggest ways we can reduce the threats, is not be exposed
- 9:41to the germs in the first place.
- 9:43Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands.
- 9:46Wash your hands before you eat. Wash your hands. And don't touch your face.
- 9:51We touch our face a lot. Don't touch your face. Don't transfer those germs.
- 9:55When you're going to cough or sneeze, cover up. A sneeze and a cough can travel.
- 10:01The germs from it can travel 200 feet.
- 10:03I don't know about you, but I am not aware of what's going on 200 feet away from me.
- 10:08Cover your cough, cover your sneeze. And also, this is personal preference.
- 10:13When I am out in public, I do not have an uncovered straw.
- 10:17I do not have something where the germs can land on it. And then I'm going to
- 10:21put that in my mouth. That is personal preference.
- 10:24You also want to reduce the threats to your immune system. You're going to,
- 10:29hopefully, limit sugar.
- 10:31When you have sugar, like one can of pop, the bad effects can last up to five hours.
- 10:38The sugar actually competes with your white blood cells, with those fighters,
- 10:42with your defense, and the sugar wins up to five hours to reduce sugar.
- 10:49Especially, I think about this in kids, If we feed them a sugary breakfast and
- 10:54then send them to school, their immune system is weakened for up to five hours.
- 10:59Well, then, of course, before that five hours is done, they're going to lunch
- 11:03and they're going to have some sweets.
- 11:05And then they get home and they're going to maybe have a snack and then they're
- 11:08going to have supper and they're going to have dessert.
- 11:10Do you see how limiting sugar is going to be huge in your immunity blueprint?
- 11:16Also, reducing the threats means don't smoke, don't vape.
- 11:20If you are doing those, you can contact me. I do holistic health coaching.
- 11:24We can help you stop, reduce other pollutants that are in the air and that you
- 11:28put on your body. Things like skincare, air fresheners, cleaning products.
- 11:32Obviously we need to clean, but you know how like two hours after you're done
- 11:36scrubbing down the bathroom, doing a deep clean and you can still smell the
- 11:40bleach? It's probably not a good sign.
- 11:42Let's reduce the pollutants in our environment. You also want to reduce the
- 11:47internal threats like stress.
- 11:50We're not going to take it all away, but you can decrease some stressors,
- 11:53you can banish some stress, and then you can manage what's left.
- 11:57One of the biggest ways that you can reduce your stress is what you watch and what you consume.
- 12:03Whether it's the news or social media, these breed fear and stress.
- 12:08How can you reduce your stress by limiting what you have on your phone,
- 12:13what you scroll, and what you listen to, and what you watch.
- 12:17It's a good question. I have personally been using an app called ScreenZen.
- 12:21It's completely free. I did not add it to my slides, but it helps me keep a
- 12:26better handle on how much I'm looking at my phone, better than the built-in
- 12:31controls, because I was just always swiping through, tapping through. Yeah.
- 12:37All right, back to the castle. Here is layer number two.
- 12:40Support your immune system. First, we're defending.
- 12:44Now, we're supporting our immune system. And the goal here is to give your body
- 12:48what it needs every single day.
- 12:51First, let's talk about the elephant in the room. Vaccination.
- 12:55I am not pro. I am not anti. I am pro science.
- 12:59And the thing about it is, every year, the influenza vaccine,
- 13:03the flu vaccine, is pushed a lot.
- 13:06As a nurse, I encountered this every single year when I was in the ER.
- 13:10And every single year, I told them probiotics and vitamin D are actually more
- 13:14effective than the flu shot. And they would look at me kind of crazy.
- 13:18I had the research to back it up.
- 13:20For the 24-25 flu season, we now have the data that said people who had the flu shot, guess what?
- 13:28They had a 27% higher risk of getting the flu than those who did not get the vaccine.
- 13:35I know that when you go to the doctor or pharmacy or you're watching the news,
- 13:39they say that a flu shot is going to decrease your risk of getting the influenza
- 13:44and it's going to decrease the symptoms.
- 13:47It doesn't always work. And sometimes, according to the data we have about the
- 13:5124-25 flu season, it actually makes you more susceptible to getting sick.
- 13:58Another thing, COVID vaccine, very, very, very controversial.
- 14:02The side effects are very real
- 14:04and they do include death and they include cancer. So that is what it is.
- 14:09The thing is, vaccines, they're only one strategy out of many,
- 14:15many things that you can do to keep yourself and others healthy.
- 14:19And whether we agree or disagree on all of the vaccination stuff,
- 14:24it's just one strategy. So let's talk about all of the other strategies.
- 14:29This one I love, it is increasing the love and gratitude in your life.
- 14:33And yes, those do actually support your physical immune system.
- 14:38Increasing the love in your life and how much gratitude you express,
- 14:43it increases, strengthens your immune system.
- 14:48One minute of anger impairs your immune system for the next four to five hours,
- 14:55versus one minute of laughter.
- 14:57It strengthens your immune system for the next 24 hours.
- 15:02Your mental health, what you think about, what you choose to do,
- 15:06how you choose to express things, It impacts your physical health.
- 15:11You can also support your immune system by sleep. When you are sleeping,
- 15:15that is when your body is repairing, cleaning up, healing, and growing.
- 15:19Are you getting quality sleep? Are you getting quantity? Are you getting enough hours of sleep?
- 15:26Both of these things matter, both the quantity and the quality.
- 15:31If you need help with sleep, I do have a workshop, a PDF that's called the Jumpstart
- 15:37to Refreshing Sleep and Rest, let me know. Send me a message.
- 15:41It is not, it's available in the Health with Hashimoto's school community right
- 15:45now, but I do have it available for PDF if you just want to get that.
- 15:50Also, we can support our immune system through exercise. When you are exercising,
- 15:54it increases the circulation of your immune cells.
- 15:57That's awesome. We want them to go throughout your body, seek and destroy what's
- 16:01not supposed to be there, repair what is supposed to be there.
- 16:05You have a lymphatic system that's like the garbage disposal system of your
- 16:08body. It takes things out. It also recycles things.
- 16:12And the lymphatic system does not have a pump like your heart.
- 16:15Your lymphatic system needs exercise. It needs your muscles to be contracting in order to move.
- 16:21So move your lymph. That is when we exercise.
- 16:25Also, when we sweat, that's when we excrete a lot of toxins through our sweat.
- 16:30Try to make sure that you're sweating at least once a day because you're going
- 16:34to help your body get rid of things. It will support your immune system.
- 16:39Layer number three, nope, sorry, still layer number two, but this one is specific
- 16:45to your gut because 70 to 80% of your immune system is in and around your gut.
- 16:51So we talked about the general stuff in the last couple of slides.
- 16:54Now let's talk about specifically the gut.
- 16:58You have something called the microbiome. That is everything that's like,
- 17:02it's the bacteria and things inside of your gut.
- 17:07You also have something called biofilms. You've seen biofilms.
- 17:12When you clean the sink and then you lift that off, that slimy stuff, that's a biofilm.
- 17:18That biofilm is also inside of you.
- 17:22You need to clean that off. When I'm cleaning my sink, I get the scrub brush, right?
- 17:27In your body, how do you get rid of it? Fiber. Fiber is like the toothbrush
- 17:33to your gut. It helps clean the microbiome.
- 17:36Make sure you're getting enough fiber every day. Also, fiber helps you poop.
- 17:39And where do you excrete a lot of the bad stuff?
- 17:42In your poop. So get enough fiber every day.
- 17:45You need water, enough water, in order for that fiber to not constipate you.
- 17:51So make sure you're getting enough water every day too.
- 17:54The standard formula for how much water to get is your weight in pounds divided
- 18:00by two, and that's how many ounces would be ideal for you in a day.
- 18:05So fiber, water, get enough.
- 18:09You also want to support your gut with probiotics. Probiotics are the good microbiome
- 18:16or the bacteria in your gut.
- 18:19Probiotics are very healthy. They're very good for you. You want them daily.
- 18:24You can get them through food. And if you're not getting them enough in your
- 18:27diet, that's when you supplement.
- 18:29So back in, I don't remember what year this was, 20, I can't figure out from the date of that.
- 18:36Anyway, there was a double-blind study, and they found that people who consumed
- 18:41probiotics, when they got a respiratory viral illness, it was shorter.
- 18:47The duration was shorter by two days, and also the severity was decreased by 34%.
- 18:54So by having probiotics on a daily basis, people didn't get sick as much.
- 19:00They got sick for a shorter amount of time, and they had less symptoms. I call that a win.
- 19:05They also missed two less days of school. I believe they did this on college students.
- 19:10Probiotics are a good thing. They are a fantastic part of your winter immunity blueprint.
- 19:16You can get them in your diet. There are probiotics in yogurt, kefir, kombucha.
- 19:23Not all sauerkraut and pickles. It has to be the refrigerated kind.
- 19:27If it's shelf-stable, no.
- 19:29Even in the grocery store, if it's shelf-stable, it probably does not have probiotics.
- 19:33You need to get the refrigerated ones.
- 19:35When you're looking at apple cider vinegar, it will say it has the mother.
- 19:40That means it has some probiotics in it, I believe, for apple cider vinegar.
- 19:44But I know all of these things on the screen have probiotics when you get the live version.
- 19:49If you're not getting enough in your diet, that's where supplementation comes in.
- 19:53So probiotics are fantastic.
- 19:57You also want to strengthen your defenses. The goal here is to turn on your body's built-in army.
- 20:06We all have a built-in army. We have an amazing immune system,
- 20:11and you want to strengthen it, help it do its job well.
- 20:16Because sometimes, like I said a while ago, you know, you have sugar and it
- 20:20competes with your white blood cells.
- 20:22Your white blood cells are some of your biggest defenders and then they can't work.
- 20:26We want to make sure that everything in your body is working well so that you
- 20:30can have very good health this winter.
- 20:34Vitamin D3 is so good for your overall health.
- 20:38When they have done studies, they found that increased vitamin D levels were
- 20:43associated with a significant two-fold reduction in the risk of developing acute
- 20:48respiratory tract infections with a marked reduction in the percentage of days ill.
- 20:54So just like we just covered with the probiotics, when people are getting enough
- 20:58vitamin D, they get sick less.
- 21:02It is effective for respiratory stuff.
- 21:06And influenza, COVID, the common cold, what are all of those things?
- 21:11They are respiratory things.
- 21:13So I want to make sure that everybody in my family, everybody that I love and
- 21:17care about has an adequate vitamin D level.
- 21:21What is an adequate vitamin D level? Good question.
- 21:24Researchers, you know, there's always different opinions on it,
- 21:29but the most credible research that I have seen, it says between 80 and 100,
- 21:35when you get your labs test, that's the best.
- 21:38That is optimal. So 80 to 100, in fact, during the peak of COVID,
- 21:43one of the protocols was to get your vitamin D level up to that level as fast as possible,
- 21:49because it is so effective for helping your body heal and stay healthy.
- 21:55Other things you can do to strengthen your defenses is getting enough vitamin C and zinc.
- 22:00These are especially important on the days when you're starting to get sick.
- 22:04They help your body fight something that's already there.
- 22:07Vitamin C and zinc can be found in foods. And again, if you're not getting enough
- 22:11from your food, that's when you supplement.
- 22:13The next thing is one of my favorite things and something you probably have
- 22:17not heard of before. It is beta-glucans.
- 22:20So that's a picture of a lockbox at a bank.
- 22:23The banker would have one key and you have the other. You come into the bank
- 22:28and you say, I want to access my lockbox.
- 22:30And so you insert your key after the banker puts in their key.
- 22:33It needs two keys in order to work.
- 22:36Beta-glucans are like the banker. It inserts that first key in your immune system
- 22:42so that when something happens, it's so much faster to respond.
- 22:47All you have to do is insert that other key.
- 22:49That's kind of the role of beta-glucans. They speed things up.
- 22:52They're the banker. They help your immune system work better.
- 22:57Beta-glucans are in some foods.
- 23:00I think oatmeal has a teeny tiny amount of beta-glucans. Quite honestly,
- 23:04if I am looking for beta-glucans, I look at supplements because that is where
- 23:09I find the most beta-glucans and I focus on those during times of illness.
- 23:15You can also strengthen your defenses with flavonoids. These are the colorful things in foods.
- 23:20They are found in elderberries, blueberries, quercetin.
- 23:24Quercetin is not a food, it is a component, but these are good things to look
- 23:28for when you are getting sick, when you're feeling run down.
- 23:33You can also strengthen defenses by looking at oxidative stress.
- 23:38Oxidative stress is like the browning of that banana. That's oxidative stress.
- 23:42On a car, we see it as rust.
- 23:45It's like fire. It's like fires burning things up.
- 23:49Inflammation, right? Oxidative stress leads to inflammation.
- 23:53And it's happening on a cellular level. Every single cell in your body has oxidative
- 24:00stress because what's part of the word oxidation, oxidative, is oxygen.
- 24:06And when you breathe oxygen and when your cells use oxygen, which they all do,
- 24:11they put off like an exhaust, and that exhaust causes the rust, oxidative stress.
- 24:15My favorite thing for this is something that is not a food.
- 24:20It is a combination of five herbs, and it helps your body fight oxidative stress.
- 24:27It is called Protandim NRF2. I'm going to talk about a couple different products
- 24:31during this masterclass because I want you to have the best resources.
- 24:35And this is the best thing I have ever found that helps your body fight what it needs to fight.
- 24:41On average, it lowers your oxidative stress in your body. So that's the rusting
- 24:45of your cells, brownie of a banana.
- 24:47On a cellular level, it's cleaning that up by an average of 40% in just 30 days.
- 24:52People who had more, you know, it got cleaned up more.
- 24:55An average of 40%. Let me zoom in on the benefits.
- 25:00So like I said, it reduces oxidative stress by 40% in just 30 days.
- 25:04It helps your body detoxify cells while preserving cellular function.
- 25:09It significantly reduces cellular stress.
- 25:12NRF2 is a pathway in your body. It supports your body's natural ability to repair
- 25:18its own cells. We all need that.
- 25:20And it helps neutralize more than 1 million free radicals. One blueberry neutralizes one free radical.
- 25:28So it's like eating a million blueberries, which you're never going to do in
- 25:32a day, much less every single day.
- 25:34This protanum NRF2 is amazing. It also helps regulate your survival genes.
- 25:40So these are the three different layers of your wellness blueprint.
- 25:46We want to strengthen the defenses. We want to support your immune system.
- 25:50We want to reduce threats.
- 25:51And we want to do this for you. And also, if you are a mom watching this,
- 25:55of course, you want to do it for your family too.
- 25:57And there are a lot of things I talked about that you can do on a practical level, right?
- 26:02Now, I said that there would be a couple products that I'm talking about.
- 26:06Her Tandem and RF2 is one of them.
- 26:08The other one is the other component of what is called the healthy edge.
- 26:15The Protanum NROF2 is a little tablet made up of five herbs.
- 26:18It has all of those benefits.
- 26:19And the other one is called P84. It is made of both one and two, the packets.
- 26:26And these two different products, the P84 and the Protanum, they help you dominate all three layers.
- 26:34All three of those. Strengthen defenses, support immune system,
- 26:37reduce threats, all in this healthy edge.
- 26:40And yes, you can do all of this through all of the dietary things that we've talked about.
- 26:47Sometimes you just want it easy, right? So the P84, that's the whole food phytopower
- 26:53one and two, it binds toxins and it starves bad bugs daily.
- 26:58This is layer number one. It's reducing the threats. The protandim NRF2 helps
- 27:03your body cut oxidative stress.
- 27:05It shuts down hidden inflammation.
- 27:08Essentially, your body becomes hostile territory for every germ,
- 27:12and we want that when we're reducing threats.
- 27:16Layer two, supporting your immune system. P84 is a microbiome system.
- 27:22It is helping your entire gut because 70 to 80% of your immune system is there.
- 27:28P84 contains 40 different rainbow whole foods.
- 27:33It has pinks, it has reds, it has purples, it has greens, it has oranges.
- 27:38It is a whole food supplement. It also contains 15 probiotic strains, over 20 billion CFUs.
- 27:47It also has digestive enzymes to help your gut work better and to eliminate things.
- 27:53It is so helpful for your microbiome.
- 27:56Layer three is strengthening defenses and the healthy edge helps that.
- 28:01So the protandum nrf2 turns on your antioxidant production.
- 28:06It increases SOD, which is an antioxidant that your body creates.
- 28:11It increases how much you're creating by 30%.
- 28:15Catalase is another antioxidant that you're creating. It increases that by 54%.
- 28:21I didn't put it on this slide, but if you've heard of glutathione,
- 28:25which is like the sticky fly paper for the toxins in your body,
- 28:28it just sticks to it and takes it out.
- 28:30Glutathione increases by 300% when you are using the protanum NRF2.
- 28:36The P84 adds in cellular repair and faster recovery.
- 28:41The Healthy Edge helps with all three layers of your immune health.
- 28:46It's one morning ritual. It's just those two products.
- 28:50The two products being the Protandim and the P84. Those are two stick packs.
- 28:54It covers all three layers every single day. I do this every single morning.
- 28:59And if you're wondering what it tastes like, so the two stick packs,
- 29:02the purple one, it tastes and smells really fruity. If you open up that stick
- 29:07pack and you smell it, it's almost like a grape.
- 29:12Not just grape. There's definitely a lot of different fruits in there,
- 29:16but it smells really fruity.
- 29:17And then the green one smells a bit more green. It doesn't smell like spinach
- 29:22or kale, but when I smell it, my brain interprets it as green.
- 29:26My husband thought that I was crazy.
- 29:28That's not how he felt like the green one smelled.
- 29:31And when I mix them together, it tastes kind of fruity. The aftertaste is a little bit green.
- 29:37And I know that's not a taste, but I hope you know what I mean.
- 29:41I like it. I have it every morning with my breakfast.
- 29:44What happens when you get sick? Here is your rapid response plan.
- 29:48Number one, you want to reduce the threats.
- 29:51You're going to stay home. You're going to wash your hands. You're going to
- 29:53do all that stuff that we talked about.
- 29:55You're going to support your immune system. You're going to have more vitamin
- 29:58D, vitamin C, zinc, the flavonoids, the elderberry, things like that.
- 30:04And you want to strengthen your defenses. Make sure that you're getting enough probiotics.
- 30:08Make sure that you're pooping every day. Make sure you're getting lots and lots
- 30:11and lots of water when you're sick.
- 30:13When you get sick, basically, you're doing all the same three things that we've
- 30:18talked about, the three layers, just faster and stronger.
- 30:21You're going to double down on your sleep and hydration.
- 30:24You know when a kid is getting sick, when they get really tired, right?
- 30:28If you're a mom, you've experienced that. You're like, oh, they're either growing
- 30:32or coming down with something. It's the same thing with adults.
- 30:35You can rest. You can sleep without guilt. That is what your body is asking
- 30:39for? Because when you're sleeping, that is when your body is healing,
- 30:43it's when it's repairing, it's when it's fixing things.
- 30:46Vitamin D, when taken at the first onset of symptoms, then it decreases the
- 30:53duration and the symptoms.
- 30:55You want to make sure that your vitamin D is always optimal and then especially
- 31:00take it at the onset of symptoms.
- 31:02Vitamin D you can overdose on. You don't want to get over 100 when you're doing
- 31:06your lab test, so don't take too much.
- 31:10When I'm getting sick, personally, I take about 10,000 international units on that one day.
- 31:17But as long as my everyday vitamin D intake is good, I don't remember being
- 31:23sick sick last winter or the winter before. Maybe I was, but I don't remember it.
- 31:28And then, of course, you want to do high-dose vitamin C and zinc when you get sick, if you get sick.
- 31:34Elderberry and warm liquids, always helpful if you are feeling sick. And rest without guilt.
- 31:40So that is your immune blueprint. I want to know what is your next step.
- 31:45You have space to write this in your workbook.
- 31:48When you write it down, and when you write it down in an I-will format,
- 31:52it helps your brain remember it and helps you prioritize what you are choosing to do.
- 31:57Here are some different ideas that you might want to implement maybe you are
- 32:02going to say I'm going to cut added sugar to under 25 grams per day this winter,
- 32:08maybe for you you're going to say I want that easy option I'm going to take
- 32:11the healthy edge every single morning,
- 32:13maybe you're going to get your vitamin d level tested this month you should
- 32:17be able to do that at your doctor you can also go to Ulta Labs I will try to
- 32:22have a link for you in the email so that you can order your own labs.
- 32:27The vitamin D lab, I think it's around $40.
- 32:31And when you order your own labs, you just go to a lab. It has a list of different places you can go.
- 32:37They'll draw your blood, send
- 32:39it to the company. The company will test it and email you with a result.
- 32:43So you can do vitamin D testing on your own. You do not have to do it through a doctor.
- 32:49Also, what about sleep? How about this one? I will go to bed by 10 o'clock p.m.
- 32:54At least five nights per week in the winter.
- 32:57I'll tell you, when the sun goes down early, it does make it easier to go to bed.
- 33:02At least I think so, but it still can be a struggle. So how about sleep?
- 33:08What about I will end my day with five minutes of gratitude?
- 33:12If you keep a gratitude journal, it impacts your physical health.
- 33:17These are some ideas on how you can implement what we have talked about in this masterclass.
- 33:25I went over things really fast because I value your time and I know that you
- 33:29don't have time to just sit through a whole bunch of stories.
- 33:33So here are two different ways that you can follow up.
- 33:39Obviously, number one is the healthy edge. We've talked about the P84.
- 33:43For. It is the world's most.
- 33:45The best thing you could do for your microbiome. It's 84 ingredients,
- 33:49feeds, diversifies, and detoxifies your gut every single day.
- 33:53And of course, your gut is where 70 to 80 percent of your immune system is.
- 33:57You want to take care of your gut.
- 33:59The Protandim NRF2 Synergizer activates your body's own antioxidant army.
- 34:05It tells your body to produce more.
- 34:08So this is one morning ritual, total coverage of all three layers,
- 34:12reducing threats, supporting you, and strengthening your defenses.
- 34:15I also have a simple habits program. The next one will be starting in January.
- 34:20This is a 12-week text-based system where I will send you texts every single
- 34:26week so that you can have one small sustainable action to build better health without burnout.
- 34:33And I'm limiting it to a text message so I can't overwhelm you with information.
- 34:38I'll send you one simple thing to do every week to build habits that help your overall health.
- 34:44It's about building momentum one step at a time so you can feel better for good.
- 34:50Stay connected with me at healthwithhashimoto's.com or I am on Instagram at
- 34:55health.with.hashimoto's.
- 34:58Thank you so much for coming to this masterclass. Let me know what you're going
- 35:02to do. Send me a message and tell me your I will statement.
- 35:06I hope that you have a fantastic winter, that you are staying healthy the whole time.
- 35:14That's it for today. If you are ready to sort your Hashimoto's into thyroid
- 35:18or immune, start with Hashimoto's Decoded, and then come talk about it in the free community.
- 35:24Both links are in the show notes. I'll see you next week.
