- 0:00It's interesting because this is what people are suggesting is the budget's not helping young
- 0:03people at all. When they say tax the rich, I think they mistaken
- 0:07the rich for people who have just come across money, like won
- 0:10the lotto or something, where they've not worked for it. But the thing is, wealthy people are
- 0:13wealthy because they give and deploy the most value to the world. That's why
- 0:17Elon is the wealthiest, because he's provided the most value to the world, solved the biggest problems.
- 0:20The government in Australia has dressed up the budget changes
- 0:24and policies into helping younger Australians but that is absolute BS
- 0:31So how can Australians trust people with almost no business
- 0:37You can't. The fact that we... Alright now we get to do reactions where I
- 0:41watch a reel mainly of the government making dumb decisions and then get to
- 0:44react to them which is me hating the government. So if you're ready for to see
- 0:49What I'm annoyed about is that that
- 0:53narrative is wrong. This budget will not
- 0:56help younger people get into a home. By the way,
- 0:59the very people who are supposed to have caused this intergenerational inequity,
- 1:04the older people, they've been protected because
- 1:08effectively they've been grandfathered on any gains that they've made to date
- 1:12The government in Australia has dressed up the budget changes
- 1:16and policies into helping younger Australians, but that is absolute BS
- 1:20because all it does is grandfather the people who already got the gains, make it
- 1:23harder for them to move into various investments because of negative gearing changes,
- 1:27and made it hard for CGT gains in shares and things that have nothing
- 1:30to do with property. So it's dressed up as helping younger generation, but the reality is
- 1:37I can end the deficit in five minutes. You just pass a law that says
- 1:40that any time there's a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all
- 1:46That's very true. So what Warren Buffett's talking about here is incentives. So
- 1:50if you incentivise their jobs with the fact that
- 1:54if the budget doesn't fall within 3%, then
- 1:58they lose their jobs. That's setting incentives. So
- 2:01when you set incentives you get the outcome. The challenge is that no
- 2:05one in Congress is going to pass a law that dictates that.
- 2:09And that's the challenge we have in politics where these laws should be in place but the very
- 2:12people to place them in there are not going to do it because it's the absolute surety they're going
- 2:15to lose their job. So there's no incentive for them to set the laws to get the
- 2:18incentives right and it's the loop of incentives that nothing ever happens. Which
- 2:22is why China has had such crazy growth, because they
- 2:25have a benign dictatorship that seems to work better than
- 2:32Let's tax the rich. Screw them. First things first, let me
- 2:35kill the lie. The government says we're just taxing the rich. You
- 2:39cheer. That's a bad idea, because you don't understand how the rich actually
- 2:42work. Now, let me explain something to you. The rich don't save their money in
- 2:45cash like most people do. You think they're sitting on $3 million worth
- 2:49of savings? Nah, they'd be stupid too, because it loses value
- 2:54Leave it in the... When they say tax the rich, I think they mistaken
- 2:57the rich for people who have just come across money, like won
- 3:01the lotto or something, where they've not worked for it. But the thing is, wealthy people are
- 3:04wealthy because they give and deploy the most value to the world. That's why
- 3:07Elon is the wealthiest, because he's provided the most value to the world, solved the biggest problems.
- 3:11So wealthy people get that way by solving problems. That
- 3:15is great for society and part of the problems they solve includes you
- 3:18having a job because the wealthy build businesses and businesses employ
- 3:22people and people need jobs to make money. So if you are in a job, the
- 3:25person who built that business is rich. So you're saying tax the rich, you
- 3:29know, but how are we going to incentivize innovation and growth if all
- 3:32we're doing is taxing the innovation and growth,
- 3:35the very thing that we need. It's like a penalty for risk taking.
- 3:39And the reason why Australia is going to do poorly is if we tax them at the highest
- 3:43rate for starting and building and selling a business, we're not going to attract any
- 3:46capital to Australia. And we're going to just be look what's happening in the UK. They're
- 3:50taxing the rich, taxing the rich and the rich are leaving. So if you disincentivize
- 3:54wealth building and success, you're going to have people leave. It's what's happening in
- 3:57America, in New York, they'll leave in New York. multi-billionaire Ken
- 4:00Griffin, he left New York and he's building in Florida. And Florida and
- 4:05Texas are the fastest growing states in America and California and
- 4:08New York are the lowest growing states because they're taxing the rich. It's obvious
- 4:14Going overseas is about to get more expensive. Now,
- 4:17this is one of the sneaky ones that came up in the federal budget. It's
- 4:21called the Passenger Movement Charge and is essentially an
- 4:25exit fee to leave the country. Now, I'm going
- 4:28to be honest, I'm pretty outraged at this. I didn't even know about it. It's $70 every
- 4:32time you buy a plane ticket or a cruise ticket. The government wants to
- 4:36raise it from $70 to $80, so only an extra $10. But
- 4:43It doesn't surprise me the government's doing this because the government's great at creating taxes
- 4:47that for no value in return they don't there's no value exchange
- 4:51because the airports pay 99 year leases
- 4:54to the government for the land the airlines pay the airports
- 4:58for the use of the terminals etc the retailers in
- 5:01there pay the lease to the airport to sell stuff to you and
- 5:05the and the airlines make you pay for tickets there's nothing
- 5:08in there that's valuable for the $80 nothing Zero.
- 5:12The government's not doing anything for that. They're just deciding to increase it.
- 5:16It's just a mindless toll. It's
- 5:20just typical of this government. Let's just squeeze every morsel out
- 5:23of these poor people who are trying to live a life. It's just a joke. Everywhere you
- 5:27go, there's a new tax, a new tax. And if you keep doing this to a country, eventually
- 5:30people just leave. What started the revolution in America was getting taxed
- 5:352%. And here we are getting taxed at 30-47%. There's a
- 5:38thing called the Laffer Curve, and the Laffer Curve is
- 5:43the fellow that invented it, sorry his last name was Laffer. Anyway,
- 5:47the curve says if you tax people to a certain point, it disenfranchises or
- 5:51disincentivises work. And if you get it to a certain point, people
- 5:54stop working. And so if you tax continuously forever, people
- 5:58will just stop working. So one or two things will happen. Either they'll stop working and
- 6:01they'll all get onto welfare and the economy will collapse, or
- 6:05they'll leave the country and the economy will collapse. So you choose which
- 6:08one it is, but you can't just keep taxing people over and over again and expect them to cop it on the
- 6:11chin. They will leave. It's already starting to happen in Australia. People
- 6:14are already leaving. So keep doing it. They're already leaving New York. They're leaving California.
- 6:18Those states are losing people because they're taxing them too
- 6:22much. There is such a thing that is warranted from the Laffer
- 6:25curve that suggests that if you tax them too much it disincentivizes work and
- 6:28we don't want to do that. Just quickly, if you're ready to take control of your finances but
- 6:32feel stuck on where to start, I have a solution. My
- 6:35book, Money Buys Happiness, simplifies investing and
- 6:38wealth building with practical steps to help you achieve financial peace.
- 6:42Get your copy via the link in the show notes and let's get your money working for
- 6:47Quick question on negative gearing. I borrowed to invest in
- 6:51shares. I can still effectively offset
- 6:55that loss against my taxable income? We're just carving out property? Is that
- 6:59Yes, because I think something like 98% of negative
- 7:03gearing is property. And so the focus in
- 7:06negative gearing is on Property the focus in
- 7:10capital gains is across the system And
- 7:14and again, that's deliberate we're trying to deal with the main challenges here around the
- 7:18fact that laboring Yeah, so I didn't know who's borrowing
- 7:23That would not be a good idea It's a fair question, but I don't know how many are
- 7:26doing it and the real challenge they're trying to solve is housing speculation
- 7:31in property investments by people just claiming too
- 7:35much tax concessions for negative gearing. Now what that is is a tax grab
- 7:38from the government for that, but it will disincentivize folks
- 7:42from investing in property outside their PPR. So
- 7:45that will help, hopefully, alleviate some of the housing bubble.
- 7:49It's not such a bad idea. The fact they've actually aligned it with
- 7:52new housing would incentivise off-the-plan housing. So
- 7:55it would incentivise housing supply. So I actually think one of the few things
- 7:58that they've done well with the budget is actually just move negative gear into new
- 8:02homes and get away from second-hand homes. It's just re-shifting
- 8:06the incentives. Yeah, but I don't know how many people would be boring
- 8:10to buy shares. I don't think in Australia they even really allow it too much these
- 8:16Thank you Mr Speaker. Tonight I deliver a budget for all
- 8:19Australians. For young Australians attempting to buy their first house
- 8:22but never will. For working families doing it tough. For small businesses
- 8:26under enormous pressure. It's brutal out
- 8:30here and we did that. And
- 8:34of course for older Australians who've worked hard, saved hard, invested wisely
- 8:38and somehow own six townhouses in places they've never been. This is
- 8:41a budget about fairness. It's fairly, fairly, fairly fairness. Now
- 8:45we all know circumstances have changed. Not our values, not
- 8:49our priorities, just our promises. For too long,
- 8:53young Australians have been locked out of housing. They've worked hard, saved hard,
- 8:57they've skipped holidays and skipped coffees and hope and
- 9:04Oh, this is an absolute piss-take. It's hilarious. Yeah, it's
- 9:08interesting because this is what people are suggesting is the budget's not helping young
- 9:11people at all. It's really, it's grandfathered a lot of this stuff, so all the
- 9:14people are already in. They're going to sustain it. Those trying to get in, they're going to be hamstrung a
- 9:18little bit. And the fact that they're taxing capital gains at the highest rate
- 9:22for things like shares that have nothing to do with the real estate market, is interesting
- 9:25they are taxing certain businesses but small businesses get away from it I think people
- 9:29don't realize that that small businesses don't really get affected that much because there's
- 9:32concessions for small business if they sell it and it's concession if you
- 9:35keep your business over 15 years too so if you read some of the details it's not it's
- 9:39not that bad I think some of the things that are irritating for
- 9:42people are the capital gains incentives or
- 9:46capital gains tax-free threshold or 50% discount has changed
- 9:50but it's changed on shares not just housing and
- 9:54Yeah, rent vesting is not as effective as what it used to be under the new
- 9:57negative gearing laws, which is hurting some people's feelings, which would happen. I
- 10:01don't disagree with negative gearing stuff. It should be on brand new property. The
- 10:05indexed CGT, it sucks, but it is what
- 10:08it is. You can't change it. What
- 10:11I don't like is how the government is trying to repair the budget. They're
- 10:15trying to repair the budget by making it harder for people to get ahead rather
- 10:19than repairing the budget by stopping spending
- 10:22on dumb shit. That's the difference. That's what irritates me.
- 10:26That's why people are taking the mickey out of them because they could have easily just cut
- 10:29out the fraud in the NDIS and saved all the money they needed. But they're not making
- 10:33the hard decisions on spending. And some of the stuff that they'd be spending
- 10:36money on for the wokes, it would just be atrocious. I
- 10:40think at the state level and the government level, once a new party
- 10:43gets in and they do a, if there's a Royal Commission, I think there's so much
- 10:47corruption happening. Amongst the labor politicians,
- 10:51I think it will be found out and I think that they'll be dragged across the coals at some point.
- 10:55Some of the net worths of those who are on like 150 grand
- 10:58a year is obscene. Like there's a lot of money either going through the
- 11:01CFMEU to them, something's happening, but a lot
- 11:04of money is being wasted because we went from zero debt 20 years ago
- 11:08from under the Liberal government to 1 trillion
- 11:11in debt. It's obscene. In 20 years. So the money's going
- 11:15somewhere. And I'll tell you where it's not going. It's not going into everyday Australians because they're getting
- 11:18taxed more and more and more. It's going into the politicians' pockets. Even
- 11:21Albanians who got a pay rise yesterday at
- 11:25$57,000, they're just lining their own pockets. All of them. And
- 11:28I think there's absolute corruption happening. And I don't think we're going
- 11:31to see it come to light until a new government's
- 11:35formed. But I think it's happening for sure. It just seems, yeah,
- 11:41You wouldn't trust an untrained pilot to fly a plane. Correct.
- 11:45So how can Australians trust people with almost no business
- 11:52You can't. You can't. You can't. The fact that we get people who
- 11:55have had no real world experience running a business, running the biggest business
- 11:58we all have, which is our country, is absurd. If you're an alien from
- 12:02outer space looking down at us going, oh, they get the most retarded, incompetent
- 12:06morons that have never really had any business experience to run the
- 12:09biggest business in the In our world, which is the country, they
- 12:12think we're a bunch of idiots. We're not even choosing the wisest. We're
- 12:16not even choosing the wealthiest. We're choosing... I don't know
- 12:19what we're doing. It's a weird thing. It's like the most incompetent
- 12:23are running the country for the most competent. It's strange. It's
- 12:28Farmers handed down what many are calling the worst federal
- 12:35Our reforms are about backing aspiration for
- 12:39all, bringing the great Australian dream of home
- 12:45Now here's where this story... If
- 13:15they wanted to make home ownership more achievable, that's the first thing they could do is just drop
- 13:19immigration because less people, less competition for homes. It's the easiest thing. You
- 13:22look at Canada and New Zealand and America, they've done that there and that's exactly what
- 13:25they've done. They've alleviated rent pressure by 30%. Massive, huge changes.
- 13:29There's one lever that Albanese needs to pull and it's immigration. He
- 13:32ain't pulling it. He will be forced to pull it because One
- 13:36Nation is now challenging him in a big way to leadership. And if they don't change
- 13:39it, they're cooked. Now, as far as I'm concerned, I hope they don't change
- 13:42it. I hope they do get cooked. I want to beat them out and get rid of them. No good.
- 13:46I think they're corrupt. But what
- 13:50they're saying and what they're doing are two different things. And I feel like they're gaslighting the
- 13:53Australian public because they're saying things in a condescending, patronizing way that
- 13:57you can see straight through it. They're not doing those things because everybody
- 14:01knows all they need to do is Depart from
- 14:04net zero, drop immigration and
- 14:08start to utilize our resources more effectively to
- 14:11bring back industry and create better jobs and
- 14:15a multi-faceted economy that's more complex than it
- 14:18is. It's just too basic. Dig holes, sell stuff. All
- 14:22right, hope you enjoyed that. Hope it makes a lot of sense. Never
- 14:25easy to run a country, but a lot of these policies are impacting everyday Aussies, you,
- 14:29me, everyone. And I think you don't have to be a genius to work out that what's
- 14:32happening right now is not in the favor of Australians. And that's why I hope we
- 14:36see a change in who's leading our country so we can have more pro-growth
- 14:40and pro-innovation and wealth building for Australian citizens,
- 14:43not for those outside, but for those who live in this country and built this country. So
- 14:47if you like this, share it with a friend. I hope you enjoy it and get a
