- 0:00Speaker 1: Football four powered by the Inside of the Birds podcast,
- 0:03Speaker 1: which you can get on all podcasting platforms. It's the
- 0:07Speaker 1: start of our divisional previews the AFC East. Lot of storylines.
- 0:11Speaker 1: When we get into the divisional previews, you know we
- 0:14Speaker 1: are kicking into high gear. The NFL is almost here,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Andrew to Checko is here, and the AFC East has
- 0:21Speaker 1: a ton of storylines. We're gonna get into him right
- 0:24Speaker 1: now on the Sports Beast Live as we welcome back
- 0:26Speaker 1: Andrew to Checko for today's Football at four. What's up man?
- 0:30Speaker 1: How are you?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Hey? Mike? Doing great? Good to be with you.
- 0:33Speaker 1: As always, We've got the divisional previews, which means we're
- 0:37Speaker 1: counting down to the start of training camp here and
- 0:40Speaker 1: we start with the AFC East this week. And I
- 0:42Speaker 1: guess one of the big stories last season was the
- 0:45Speaker 1: New England Patriots. Mike Vrabel, we know the off the
- 0:49Speaker 1: field stuff. He's now year two at the Helm fourteen
- 0:53Speaker 1: and three. They go to the Super Bowl, they get
- 0:55Speaker 1: AJ Brown. What do you think is the big kind
- 0:59Speaker 1: of story for New England?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Hey? Them winning the AFC E Fleisher and repeating R
- 1:05Speaker 1: do you think all this off the field Vrabel stuff?
- 1:08Speaker 1: And aj Brown coming over there will dominate when they
- 1:10Speaker 1: get to training camp.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Well, inevitably that's going to follow them, but eventually that
- 1:16Speaker 2: should dissipate and then it becomes all about football because
- 1:20Speaker 2: the focus in September just that's just one of the
- 1:23Speaker 2: dust settles that's just comes to the forefront. And I
- 1:26Speaker 2: think for the Patriots, when you look at how the
- 1:27Speaker 2: season ended for them in the Super Bowl, it didn't
- 1:30Speaker 2: go as expected. They fell on their face. I'm sure
- 1:32Speaker 2: that Drake May, they're a young quarterback, is going to
- 1:35Speaker 2: look for redemption this year. There's questions out there as
- 1:39Speaker 2: to whether or not they are a team that's primed
- 1:42Speaker 2: for regression. That's a little unfounded to me. I still
- 1:45Speaker 2: think anytime you add a premiere wide receiver to a
- 1:49Speaker 2: team that's already pretty well rounded, I think that puts
- 1:52Speaker 2: you in a pretty good spot to do some damage. Now,
- 1:55Speaker 2: Super Bowl I'm not there yet. We have to wait
- 1:58Speaker 2: and see what the product looks like on the but
- 2:00Speaker 2: I do like some of their additions, and Drake May
- 2:03Speaker 2: is a player that it's been fun to watch his ascent.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Drake May obviously went from you know, questioned draft
- 2:11Speaker 1: joys of what he would be. Where do you look
- 2:14Speaker 1: at him now? I mean, is he he was in
- 2:16Speaker 1: the MVP conversation last year.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he's gonna almost pick up where he
- 2:23Speaker 2: left off. When you add Aj Brown, you add Romeo
- 2:25Speaker 2: Dobbs from the Green Bay Packers. Elijah Vera Tucker comes
- 2:29Speaker 2: in at guard for them as a little bit more
- 2:31Speaker 2: stability there to their offensive line, and they drafted Caleb
- 2:35Speaker 2: Lomo in the first round. They have a lot of
- 2:37Speaker 2: pieces and you couple that then with the running game
- 2:39Speaker 2: which alleviates some of the pressure with Ramandre Stevens and
- 2:42Speaker 2: Treveon Henderson and I don't know. I think that's an
- 2:46Speaker 2: offense that's going to be able to support a pretty
- 2:50Speaker 2: high octane passing game. And that's really his bread and butter,
- 2:53Speaker 2: throwing the football and pushing it down the field, taking
- 2:56Speaker 2: some chances. And AJ Brown, I believe, is going to
- 2:59Speaker 2: be the immediate beneficiary of this, of a byproduct of
- 3:03Speaker 2: this offense.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you wonder how drastically does Aj Brown and then
- 3:07Speaker 1: he's in Josh McDaniel the passing concepts, how does it
- 3:11Speaker 1: kind of take does it take may to another level?
- 3:15Speaker 2: I believe it will. And I go back to what
- 3:19Speaker 2: I was saying. Anytime you add, I mean, look at
- 3:21Speaker 2: what Drake May did last season with a very underwhelming
- 3:25Speaker 2: pass of wide receivers who were really I mean, you
- 3:27Speaker 2: had digs, but apart from that, they were really twos
- 3:31Speaker 2: and threes. You've added a top ten wide receiver. I
- 3:35Speaker 2: don't through the rankings, but he's pretty damn elite in
- 3:38Speaker 2: AJ Brown, and he's going to be motivated. Drake May
- 3:40Speaker 2: and that whole team is going to be motivated. There's
- 3:43Speaker 2: a lot of noise right now around their organization. That
- 3:46Speaker 2: was self inflicted, of course, but I just get the
- 3:48Speaker 2: sense that they're going to look to prove something early
- 3:52Speaker 2: and quiet some of that noise, and most notably AJ
- 3:55Speaker 2: Brown Andrew Checker.
- 3:57Speaker 1: We're looking at the New England Patriots. A lot of
- 3:59Speaker 1: people look at them and say, byproduct of the schedule,
- 4:02Speaker 1: schedule much more difficult, what move kind of stands out?
- 4:06Speaker 1: You said you like some of them? Obviously AJ Brown
- 4:08Speaker 1: is at the top of that list. Lowmu who they
- 4:11Speaker 1: drafted in the first round. What's a reason why we
- 4:14Speaker 1: think this team is more than just the schedule they
- 4:16Speaker 1: had last year?
- 4:18Speaker 2: Well, I like another year at Milton Williams so I
- 4:21Speaker 2: thought had a really good season. They added Draymond Jones
- 4:25Speaker 2: Gabe Jackets in the second round. He's a pass rusher.
- 4:27Speaker 2: They've added some more depth there. Kevin Bayard, of course,
- 4:31Speaker 2: former Eagle safety for a short period of time, comes
- 4:35Speaker 2: over to team with Craig Woodson. Craig Woodson, one of
- 4:37Speaker 2: the more underrated safeties in the game, was a fourth
- 4:40Speaker 2: round pick in twenty twenty five. Marcus Jones at nickel.
- 4:43Speaker 2: So all of these players are sort of just going
- 4:45Speaker 2: to continue to grow within that system. And then I
- 4:48Speaker 2: looked at the offense and it was evident that prior
- 4:52Speaker 2: to acquiring AJ Brown, they needed a bona fide playmaker
- 4:58Speaker 2: at the receiver position. They got that. Now do I
- 5:01Speaker 2: think that they're suddenly going to have another surge towards
- 5:05Speaker 2: a deep postseason run, Well, that remains to be seen.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But they are going to be a competitive football team.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And I'm not one that subscribes to the notion that
- 5:12Speaker 2: they're going to take a dramatic step back just because
- 5:15Speaker 2: you know, the law of averages tells you that it's
- 5:18Speaker 2: tough to repeat or replicate the success that you had.
- 5:22Speaker 1: All right, let's go to the Buffalo Bills, who obviously
- 5:26Speaker 1: had been running that division for a little while. Here
- 5:29Speaker 1: they made a coaching cheam. Joe Brady is now the
- 5:31Speaker 1: head coach. New Jim Leonard's in there. He'll run the
- 5:34Speaker 1: defense here. So you're getting a new look. Is this
- 5:37Speaker 1: what Buffalo needed? Did they need this coaching change?
- 5:41Speaker 2: I think so. Every once in a while the messaging
- 5:44Speaker 2: can get stale. And with Sean McDermott, and he's a
- 5:47Speaker 2: good football coach, but and I don't fault him for
- 5:51Speaker 2: he was part of the reason why they were never
- 5:53Speaker 2: able to quite get over the hump, but not the
- 5:56Speaker 2: sole reason. But it's a lot easier to swap out
- 5:58Speaker 2: your head coach. But Mike, they've added some good pieces
- 6:02Speaker 2: Dj Moore at wide receiver in that trade, and that
- 6:06Speaker 2: now compliments what they have in Khalil Shakir. Maybe takes
- 6:09Speaker 2: a little bit of pressure off of him because I
- 6:11Speaker 2: thought he was a little miscast as being a predominant option.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Kean Coleman, a second round pick in twenty twenty four,
- 6:17Speaker 2: is someone who still needs to prove himself. He's flashed
- 6:20Speaker 2: a little bit. James Cook a very dynamic player at
- 6:24Speaker 2: running back. You have, of course, Josh Allen who makes
- 6:27Speaker 2: everything go. One of the most valuable players in the NFL.
- 6:31Speaker 2: And they even added a former ego at fullback, and
- 6:33Speaker 2: that would be one Ben Ben van Sumern.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Ben van Sumrin, Yes, the guy who had the injury
- 6:40Speaker 1: here last year. You wonder what kind of impact he
- 6:42Speaker 1: may have had had he got an opportunity to really
- 6:45Speaker 1: I mean, that was kind of an underrated that injury
- 6:47Speaker 1: they had on opening night there.
- 6:49Speaker 2: TJ Parkers horrible. Yeah, that was a horrible injury and
- 6:52Speaker 2: he would have had to be clear he would have
- 6:54Speaker 2: had a role here in Philadelphia had it not been
- 6:57Speaker 2: for the injury, and just to really player one of
- 7:01Speaker 2: the best athletes when he was on the Eagles. And yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 2: that was something that when you and I talked about this,
- 7:07Speaker 2: Mike not having him and Johnny Wilson. It doesn't necessarily
- 7:09Speaker 2: show up in the box score, but two guys who
- 7:12Speaker 2: do the dirty work.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Absolutely, And they did not have a first round pick
- 7:15Speaker 1: last year. We were just talking TJ. Parker, you know,
- 7:18Speaker 1: the edge rusher from Clemson. They went with a corner
- 7:21Speaker 1: in the second roun. They had two second round picks.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It was obvious they have a new defensive system and
- 7:26Speaker 1: they went and beefed up on the defensive side of
- 7:28Speaker 1: the ball. You take a look at their defense. Sean
- 7:30Speaker 1: McDermott was a defensive guy. Is that defense up to
- 7:34Speaker 1: the test. It was a big problem for them.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Really, they weren't able to pick up the tab.
- 7:39Speaker 2: The offense was tasked with a lot. But you have
- 7:43Speaker 2: players who I like who's returning in TJ. Sanders. He
- 7:46Speaker 2: was a second round pick in twenty twenty five, and
- 7:48Speaker 2: Oliver has been a mainstay on that defense. Greg Russo
- 7:52Speaker 2: as a pass rusher. I don't think he gets enough
- 7:54Speaker 2: love from a national perspective. Their line Decker situation is
- 7:59Speaker 2: not bad. With Dorian Williams and Terrell Bernard, two Athletics
- 8:03Speaker 2: second level players. You have Bradley Chubb, who they of
- 8:07Speaker 2: course acquired. He's a little bit longer in the tooth,
- 8:09Speaker 2: but I still think he has something left. I'm sure
- 8:12Speaker 2: Eagles fans would have been happy if he ended up
- 8:14Speaker 2: coming to Philadelphia, but they get Jonathan Bernard. Christian Benford
- 8:18Speaker 2: is a really good story of development as a six
- 8:20Speaker 2: round pick in twenty twenty two at one cornerback spot.
- 8:23Speaker 2: C J. Gardner Johnson is now with the Buffalo Bills
- 8:27Speaker 2: if you're having trouble keeping up with where he is
- 8:30Speaker 2: these days, and we'll see what that what happens there.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I do like their safety candem in Cole Bishop, who
- 8:36Speaker 2: was the second round pick in twenty four and Gardner Johnson.
- 8:40Speaker 2: So they've added a lot of pieces there that I
- 8:42Speaker 2: think I will be interesting fits. And they needed to
- 8:46Speaker 2: do something pretty drastic on defense to be able to
- 8:51Speaker 2: balance out the roster a little bit. I thought it
- 8:52Speaker 2: was really one sided for a while.
- 8:54Speaker 1: There no doubt. All right, let's go to Miami. Big story.
- 8:57Speaker 1: There another team in this division. Jans coach Jeff Hafley
- 9:01Speaker 1: is the new head coach. There kind of an unknown
- 9:04Speaker 1: if you're wondering, where where did this guy come from?
- 9:06Speaker 1: He was the Packers assistant. They promoted promoted Bobby Slowick.
- 9:11Speaker 1: He is now the offensive coordinator. So you've got a
- 9:15Speaker 1: new coordinator, new head coach, new defensive coordinator. This is
- 9:18Speaker 1: a team that had had TUA for years. They put
- 9:21Speaker 1: big money into Willis down. There is Miami a team
- 9:24Speaker 1: that you're intrigued by with all these new moves.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I am a little bit Mike, to be honest with you.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Adding someone like Malik Willis who you haven't necessarily seen
- 9:34Speaker 2: enough from him to generate a ton of buzz, but
- 9:38Speaker 2: there's intrigue there and you wonder what he can do
- 9:41Speaker 2: with a full complement of games to work off of
- 9:44Speaker 2: and grow from. Caden Proctor, who the Eagles liked in
- 9:48Speaker 2: this draft, was their first round pick. He looks like
- 9:51Speaker 2: he's going to play some guard for them early. Jayalen
- 9:54Speaker 2: Tolbert is someone who with the Dallas Cowboys he saw flashes,
- 9:58Speaker 2: but you didn't see a lot of consistency. But I
- 10:00Speaker 2: think in maybe a different situation he can thrive. I
- 10:03Speaker 2: really liked him coming out of South Alabama. Chris Bell
- 10:06Speaker 2: a third round picks for them. He's probably a first
- 10:08Speaker 2: round pick if he doesn't have the knee injury at
- 10:11Speaker 2: Louisville in his final season that was a tremendous value.
- 10:15Speaker 2: We'll have to wait and see how early he's going
- 10:17Speaker 2: to be able to help them, and a chain they
- 10:21Speaker 2: have Jaywen Wright, so they have some dynamic playmakers on
- 10:24Speaker 2: that side of the ball. The big question, and it's
- 10:26Speaker 2: a fair one, that's a pretty big one. What are
- 10:28Speaker 2: they getting in Malik Willis? Who is Malik Willis?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Two first round picks Caiten Proctor, the offensive tackle, a
- 10:34Speaker 1: top fifteen pick. He went number twelve. Chris Johnson the
- 10:38Speaker 1: corner on defense, and they get a big time offensive
- 10:41Speaker 1: tackle there. They do get a corner, and then in
- 10:43Speaker 1: the second round pretty high Jacob Rodriguez another guy. So
- 10:46Speaker 1: it looks like they've got some young pieces there. But
- 10:48Speaker 1: as to kind of talk about so many changes, you're
- 10:51Speaker 1: losing Tyreek Hill he's gone to he's gone. They're just
- 10:55Speaker 1: so much there. You wonder is this a defense on
- 10:58Speaker 1: that side of the ball that can kind of keep
- 10:59Speaker 1: them in gametil this offense kind of catches up.
- 11:03Speaker 2: From the looks of it. It shit, we can do that,
- 11:06Speaker 2: And it's funny. I went to a comedy show in
- 11:09Speaker 2: April and I was right around the draft and the
- 11:11Speaker 2: comedian Jim Florentin, he's a New Jersey guy, he's a
- 11:14Speaker 2: big Dolphins fan, and I said, keep an eye on
- 11:16Speaker 2: Chris Johnson, the cornerback, and sure enough, they ended up
- 11:20Speaker 2: drafting Chris Johnson, and I interviewed him actually on Inside
- 11:23Speaker 2: the Burrs prior to the draft as well. That's someone
- 11:25Speaker 2: who's a plug and play guy. He's going to help
- 11:28Speaker 2: elevate that secondary to another level, can take the football away.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Kind of reminds me a little bit of Quinnon Mitchell
- 11:33Speaker 2: in that I think he's going to be a Day
- 11:36Speaker 2: one impact type of guy. They have Chop Robinson there,
- 11:40Speaker 2: who is a Penn State guy, first round pick in
- 11:43Speaker 2: twenty twenty four, Lonnie Johnson who's bounced around a little bit.
- 11:48Speaker 2: He was with the Raiders prior to arriving with the Dolphins.
- 11:52Speaker 2: They added former Eagle edge rusher Josh Usha, who returns
- 11:57Speaker 2: home to Miami to play there. So yeah, I like
- 12:00Speaker 2: a lot of the pieces that they've had in Michael
- 12:02Speaker 2: taff a safety out of Texas, a really good fifth
- 12:04Speaker 2: round pick for them, and someone who I interviewed at
- 12:07Speaker 2: that combine. He played with Drew mccooba, and I think
- 12:11Speaker 2: he's going to have a really long career based off
- 12:14Speaker 2: of that. Jacob Rodriguez, you mentioned being a second round
- 12:16Speaker 2: pick in twenty twenty six just a few months ago,
- 12:19Speaker 2: and Kyle Lewis was one of my sleepers in this
- 12:22Speaker 2: draft class. He was a fourth round pick this year. Nah,
- 12:26Speaker 2: There's a lot of questions as he safety as a linebacker,
- 12:29Speaker 2: because he's that hybrid type of player, kind of built
- 12:31Speaker 2: like Davion Taylor, but I think he is sort of
- 12:35Speaker 2: a jack of all trades defender who can cover tight
- 12:38Speaker 2: ends and running backs and really kind of be one
- 12:40Speaker 2: of those unique fits there.
- 12:42Speaker 1: All right, they are the Miami Dolphins, a very you know,
- 12:46Speaker 1: new look team with the new quarterback, new head coach,
- 12:49Speaker 1: new coordinators. And then there's the Jets three and fourteen.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Aeron Glenn is back, though a lot of people thought
- 12:55Speaker 1: he might be a one and done. They bring in
- 12:58Speaker 1: Frank reich is there, Ryan Duker, they got a whole
- 13:01Speaker 1: new staff there. But were you surprised that Aaron Glenn
- 13:05Speaker 1: made it?
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yeah? I was, But after a while, you can't keep
- 13:11Speaker 2: turning over coaches like that. You're not allowing any sort
- 13:14Speaker 2: of you're not inviting continuity. You're not letting them sort
- 13:18Speaker 2: of establish their their culture and try to get their
- 13:21Speaker 2: you know, try to get their vision aligned there. And
- 13:24Speaker 2: it's just when I look at this roster and all
- 13:27Speaker 2: their additions via the draft and free agency, it's hard
- 13:30Speaker 2: to see a lot of optimism here with this team.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I'm not a big Aaron Glenn guy, and I was
- 13:35Speaker 2: a little surprised that he that they stuck with him,
- 13:38Speaker 2: But they do have Garrett Wilson, who I like quite
- 13:40Speaker 2: a bit. They did draft Omar Cooper Junior in the
- 13:43Speaker 2: first round. You and I talked quite a bit about
- 13:45Speaker 2: him prior to the draft. Mike Olu Fashanu from Penn State,
- 13:50Speaker 2: strong left tackle. I like that, And you know, the
- 13:53Speaker 2: question that I have is Gino Smith. I don't know
- 13:58Speaker 2: that he is going to be the quarterback that's that's
- 14:01Speaker 2: gonna take him really anywhere. He reminds me more of
- 14:03Speaker 2: a bridge guy. But then they drafted c cabe Cade
- 14:06Speaker 2: club Nick excuse me, in the fourth round, and I
- 14:09Speaker 2: don't view him as necessarily a long term option there either.
- 14:13Speaker 2: So their quarterback situation is murky at best. And then
- 14:17Speaker 2: you have you know, Breise Hall, who I think is
- 14:19Speaker 2: going to be a driving force of that offense. But
- 14:22Speaker 2: other than that, there's not a ton there from an
- 14:24Speaker 2: offensive perspective. That that that I'm very optimistic about.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Well, you got some very interesting guys to talk about
- 14:31Speaker 1: role here. David Bailey number two pick in the draft,
- 14:34Speaker 1: edge rusher Texas Tech. Probably, you know, does he make
- 14:37Speaker 1: an impact right away? A lot of people thought their
- 14:40Speaker 1: defense should have been a lot better the last couple
- 14:42Speaker 1: of years. They had good personnel and never really lived
- 14:45Speaker 1: up to it. Can he help change the defense?
- 14:48Speaker 2: I think so. David Bailey, I was Bullishan in the draft.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I thought he was. He was the most polished pass
- 14:54Speaker 2: rusher in this class. Someone who offers day one starter
- 14:57Speaker 2: upside and and it's going to be a really state
- 15:00Speaker 2: pro and they need they can't. They weren't in a
- 15:02Speaker 2: position where they could afford to take a swing on
- 15:04Speaker 2: an upside player, at least in my estimation. You need
- 15:07Speaker 2: to get a sure thing. He can certainly do that.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I believe they also have Tovandre Sweat, who they acquired
- 15:14Speaker 2: in that trade with the Tennessee Titans. David Anyamatas bounced
- 15:18Speaker 2: around a little bit, but he's a good veteran presence there.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Whane Joseph Asaion Wright Nasehaan Wright has sort of been
- 15:26Speaker 2: a pleasant surprise. He was with the Chicago Bears, if
- 15:29Speaker 2: you remember. Mika Fitzpatrick is there as well, and D'Angelo Ponds,
- 15:34Speaker 2: their nickelback, was a second round pick in April. I
- 15:38Speaker 2: liked his tape quite a bit, Mike, so they they've
- 15:41Speaker 2: it seems we have to wait and see what the
- 15:43Speaker 2: product looks like on the field, but it seems like
- 15:45Speaker 2: they've added players who can help them in the immediacy.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Much like in the year two thousand, the Jets had
- 15:53Speaker 1: three first round picks in that year two thousand, this
- 15:56Speaker 1: time around they have three first round picks. We just
- 15:59Speaker 1: talked about Bailey. He was the second big of the
- 16:02Speaker 1: draft was sixteenth and Omar Cooper was number thirty. Is
- 16:06Speaker 1: how do those two rookies helped the offense.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Kenadi and I neglected to mention him because
- 16:15Speaker 2: I was going through Omar Cooper. But Ken is a
- 16:19Speaker 2: three level threat who you like his athleticism will happy
- 16:22Speaker 2: to do as a blocker, but as a safety valve
- 16:25Speaker 2: for a quarterback like Geno Smith, who isn't necessarily gonna
- 16:29Speaker 2: pick up yards of his legs. He's going to stand
- 16:31Speaker 2: back there, He's going to take a lot of hits.
- 16:33Speaker 2: I think Ken is going to be the beneficiary of
- 16:36Speaker 2: someone like Gino Smith who knows how to get the
- 16:38Speaker 2: ball out. We'll find him over the middle. But Omar
- 16:41Speaker 2: Cooper Junior is special in the sense that you can
- 16:43Speaker 2: get him out in space. He is really good after
- 16:46Speaker 2: the catch. Both players Kenyon Sadik out of Oregon and
- 16:50Speaker 2: Omar Cooper Junior is they're they're both players. You get
- 16:53Speaker 2: the ball in their hands and you let your playmakers
- 16:55Speaker 2: do the rest. So yeah, I mean, I think an
- 17:00Speaker 2: other circumstances, if I thought a little bit more strongly
- 17:02Speaker 2: about the quarterback situation, I might be a little bit
- 17:05Speaker 2: more bullish on the offense. But with Gino Smith, there's
- 17:09Speaker 2: sort of an underwhelming option that they have there. We'll
- 17:12Speaker 2: see if he can make the most and help these
- 17:14Speaker 2: rookies along, all right.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I look at the New York just by the way,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I was wrong. The Jets had four first round picks
- 17:20Speaker 1: in the year two thousand and not three. They had four,
- 17:23Speaker 1: and they hit on John Abraham, I guess was pretty good.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Chad Pennington was pretty good. Anthony Beck had a nice
- 17:29Speaker 1: long career. The other one was Sean Ellis for the Jets.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And of course, yeah, yeah, this year they had three picks.
- 17:37Speaker 1: We'll see which ones. They also took DiAngelo Pond's another
- 17:40Speaker 1: Indiana player who was acting him.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I like his tape a lot. Good good quickness, good
- 17:45Speaker 2: sure ay quickness. The Sadik pick was interesting because they
- 17:48Speaker 2: drafted Mason Tower the year before in the second round.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So and you know, unless they view Sadik as a
- 17:54Speaker 2: movable piece, or they're going to play a lot of
- 17:56Speaker 2: twelve personnel. It was a curious selection, but I get
- 18:00Speaker 2: I get the fit. You take the best player available,
- 18:03Speaker 2: and they have two really good young tight ends. All right.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Last year Patriots fourteen and three, Bills twelve and five,
- 18:08Speaker 1: Dolphins seven and ten, Jets three and fourteen. Yikes, they
- 18:13Speaker 1: lost five straight to end the year. How does Andrew
- 18:16Speaker 1: to check us see the AFC East in twenty twenty six.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Well, I have the Patriots leading the division, followed by
- 18:22Speaker 2: the Buffalo Bills, followed by the Miami Dolphins, and in
- 18:26Speaker 2: the proverbial basement, you're in New York Jets.
- 18:28Speaker 1: So exactly the same finish as last season. We'll see
- 18:33Speaker 1: how that all unfolds. We're getting close to it. Our
- 18:36Speaker 1: division previews continue next week. We'll look at the AFC North,
- 18:40Speaker 1: the Steeler, at the Ravens, the Bengals and Browns, which
- 18:42Speaker 1: was highly competitive last year. We'll see how Andrew shakes
- 18:45Speaker 1: that one out. But that has been a look at
- 18:48Speaker 1: the AFC East. Andrew, thanks man
- 18:51Speaker 2: Take care of Mike
