Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, June 10th.
• 0:11
Friends that last God that guides.
• 0:15
Think about the people you've called friends over the years.
• 0:18
Some of them disappeared when things got hard.
• 0:21
Fair weather friends who were there for the fun but vanished
• 0:24
during the difficult seasons. And then there are those rare
• 0:27
few who stayed, who showed up when things were messy, who
• 0:31
didn't need you to have it all together before they'd sit with
• 0:34
you. Proverbs chapter 17, verse 17
• 0:37
cuts right to the heart of it. A friend loves at all times, and
• 0:42
a brother is born for adversity. True friendship isn't about
• 0:45
convenience. It's not about how many laughs
• 0:48
you share or how many times you show up for the good stuff.
• 0:52
It's revealed in the hard times. The real ones show up when
• 0:55
things fall apart. That kind of loyalty is rare and
• 1:00
it's worth protecting when you find it.
• 1:02
Psalm 67 verse one says, May God be gracious to us and bless us
• 1:07
and make his face to shine upon us.
• 1:10
This is a prayer for favor. Not just individual favor, but
• 1:14
communal favor. The idea that when God blesses
• 1:17
us, it overflows to the people around us.
• 1:20
His shining face doesn't just light up your individual life,
• 1:24
it becomes a light through you that guides and warms others.
• 1:28
That's the kind of life that attracts real friendships, one
• 1:31
that carries God's presence. In First Samuel chapter 12,
• 1:35
verse 13, we see the moment Israel's king is established.
• 1:40
Samuel addresses them honestly. You asked for this.
• 1:43
God gave you what you asked for. But now stay faithful.
• 1:47
Make wise choices. Your decision has been made.
• 1:51
Now walk rightly. God honored their choice, but He
• 1:54
also made clear that obedience still mattered.
• 1:57
Opportunity without obedience leads to ruin, and that connects
• 2:02
directly to how we handle friendships, decisions, and
• 2:05
daily life as young people. God gives us freedom.
• 2:08
He gives us choices. He lets us pick our friends, our
• 2:12
habits, our directions. But He also asks, Are you being
• 2:16
faithful with what I've given you?
• 2:18
Are you seeking His face before making big moves?
• 2:21
Are you surrounding yourself with people who help you grow or
• 2:24
with people who pull you away from your purpose?
• 2:28
The best version of your life is 1 where God is leading and real
• 2:32
friendships are alongside you for the journey.
• 2:35
Don't settle for less than that. Let's pray.
• 2:39
Heavenly Father, thank you for being a faithful friend and the
• 2:43
greatest guide we could ever have.
• 2:45
Help us to be the kind of friend who shows up in adversity, not
• 2:49
just in good times. Shine your favor on us and let
• 2:52
that light flow through us to others.
• 2:55
Give us wisdom as we make choices and lead us toward
• 2:58
people and paths that reflect your love in Jesus name, Amen.
• 3:05

• 3:08

18 World English Bible A friend loves at all times, and a
• 4:13
brother is born for adversity. A man void of understanding
• 4:17
strikes hands and becomes collateral in the presence of
• 4:20
his neighbor. Psalm Chapter 67 World English
• 4:24
Bible May God be merciful to us, bless us, and cause his face to
• 4:29
shine on us. That your way may be known on
• 4:32
earth, and your salvation among all nations.
• 4:35
Let the peoples praise you. God, let all the peoples praise
• 4:39
you. Oh, let the nations be glad and
• 4:41
sing for joy, for you will judge the peoples with equity, and
• 4:44
govern the nations on earth. Let the peoples praise you.
• 4:47
God, let all the peoples praise you.
• 4:51
The earth has yielded its increase.
• 4:53
God, even our own God will bless us.
• 4:55
God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall
• 4:58
fear him. First Samuel Chapter 12 World
• 5:02
English Bible Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have listened
• 5:07
to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king
• 5:09
over you. Now behold, the king walks
• 5:12
before you. I am old and Gray headed.
• 5:16
Behold, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my
• 5:19
youth to this day. Here I am witness against me
• 5:22
before Yahweh and before his anointed.
• 5:25
Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken?
• 5:29
Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed?
• 5:32
Of whose hand have I taken a bribe to make me blind my eyes?
• 5:36
I will restore it to you. They said You have not defrauded
• 5:39
us nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything from
• 5:42
anyone's hand. He said to them, Yahweh is
• 5:45
witness against you and his anointed is witness today that
• 5:49
you have not found anything in my hand.
• 5:51
They said he is witness. Samuel said to the people, It is
• 5:56
Yahweh who appointed Moses and Aaron, and that brought your
• 5:59
father's up out of the land of Egypt.
• 6:02
Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before
• 6:06
Yahweh concerning all the righteous acts of Yahweh which
• 6:09
He did to you and to your father's.
• 6:12
When Jacob had come into Egypt and your father's cried to
• 6:15
Yahweh, then Yahweh sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your
• 6:19
father's out of Egypt and made them to dwell in this place.
• 6:23
But they forgot Yahweh, their God, and he sold them into the
• 6:26
hand of Sysra, captain of the army of hazer, and into the hand
• 6:30
of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and
• 6:35
they fought against them. They cried to Yahweh and said,
• 6:39
We have sinned because we have forsaken Yahweh and have served
• 6:42
the Bales and the Ashtaroth, but now deliver us out of the hand
• 6:46
of our enemies and we will serve you.
• 6:49
Yahweh sent Jarabal, Badan, Jeff, Taw, and Samuel and
• 6:53
delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and
• 6:56
you lived in safety. When you saw that Nahash the
• 7:00
king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to
• 7:03
me, No, but a king shall reign over us when Yahweh your God was
• 7:07
your king. Now therefore see the King whom
• 7:10
you have chosen and whom you have asked for Behold, Yahweh
• 7:14
has set a king over you. If you will fear Yahweh and
• 7:18
serve Him and listen to His voice and not rebel against the
• 7:22
commandment of Yahweh, then both you and also the King who reigns
• 7:25
over you are followers of Yahweh your God.
• 7:29
But if you will not listen to Yahweh's voice, but rebel
• 7:32
against the commandment of Yahweh, then Yahweh's hand will
• 7:35
be against you as it was against your Father's.
• 7:38
Now therefore, stand still and see this great thing which
• 7:41
Yahweh will do before your eyes. Isn't it wheat harvest?
• 7:44
Today I will call to Yahweh that he may send Thunder and rain,
• 7:49
and you will know and see that your wickedness is great, which
• 7:52
you have done in Yahweh's sight in asking for a king.
• 7:57
So Samuel called to Yahweh, and Yahweh sent Thunder and rain
• 8:00
that day. Then all the people greatly
• 8:03
feared Yahweh and Samuel. All the people said to Samuel,
• 8:07
Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God, that we not die, for
• 8:11
we have added to all our sins this evil to ask for a king.
• 8:15
Samuel said to the people, don't be afraid, you have indeed done
• 8:20
all this evil, yet don't turn away from following Yahweh, but
• 8:24
serve Yahweh with all your heart.
• 8:26
Don't turn away to go after vain things which can't profit or
• 8:29
deliver, for they are vain. For Yahweh will not forsake His
• 8:34
people for His great name's sake, because it has pleased
• 8:37
Yahweh to make you a people for Himself.
• 8:40
Moreover, As for me, far be it from me that I should sin
• 8:43
against Yahweh in ceasing to pray for you, but I will
• 8:46
instruct you in the good and the right way.
• 8:49
Only fear Yahweh and serve Him in truth with all your heart.
• 8:53
For consider what great things He has done for you.
• 8:56
But if you keep doing evil, you will be consumed, both you and
• 8:59
  your King. Thanks.
