- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, June 10th.
- 0:11Friends that last God that guides.
- 0:15Think about the people you've called friends over the years.
- 0:18Some of them disappeared when things got hard.
- 0:21Fair weather friends who were there for the fun but vanished
- 0:24during the difficult seasons. And then there are those rare
- 0:27few who stayed, who showed up when things were messy, who
- 0:31didn't need you to have it all together before they'd sit with
- 0:34you. Proverbs chapter 17, verse 17
- 0:37cuts right to the heart of it. A friend loves at all times, and
- 0:42a brother is born for adversity. True friendship isn't about
- 0:45convenience. It's not about how many laughs
- 0:48you share or how many times you show up for the good stuff.
- 0:52It's revealed in the hard times. The real ones show up when
- 0:55things fall apart. That kind of loyalty is rare and
- 1:00it's worth protecting when you find it.
- 1:02Psalm 67 verse one says, May God be gracious to us and bless us
- 1:07and make his face to shine upon us.
- 1:10This is a prayer for favor. Not just individual favor, but
- 1:14communal favor. The idea that when God blesses
- 1:17us, it overflows to the people around us.
- 1:20His shining face doesn't just light up your individual life,
- 1:24it becomes a light through you that guides and warms others.
- 1:28That's the kind of life that attracts real friendships, one
- 1:31that carries God's presence. In First Samuel chapter 12,
- 1:35verse 13, we see the moment Israel's king is established.
- 1:40Samuel addresses them honestly. You asked for this.
- 1:43God gave you what you asked for. But now stay faithful.
- 1:47Make wise choices. Your decision has been made.
- 1:51Now walk rightly. God honored their choice, but He
- 1:54also made clear that obedience still mattered.
- 1:57Opportunity without obedience leads to ruin, and that connects
- 2:02directly to how we handle friendships, decisions, and
- 2:05daily life as young people. God gives us freedom.
- 2:08He gives us choices. He lets us pick our friends, our
- 2:12habits, our directions. But He also asks, Are you being
- 2:16faithful with what I've given you?
- 2:18Are you seeking His face before making big moves?
- 2:21Are you surrounding yourself with people who help you grow or
- 2:24with people who pull you away from your purpose?
- 2:28The best version of your life is 1 where God is leading and real
- 2:32friendships are alongside you for the journey.
- 2:35Don't settle for less than that. Let's pray.
- 2:39Heavenly Father, thank you for being a faithful friend and the
- 2:43greatest guide we could ever have.
- 2:45Help us to be the kind of friend who shows up in adversity, not
- 2:49just in good times. Shine your favor on us and let
- 2:52that light flow through us to others.
- 2:55Give us wisdom as we make choices and lead us toward
- 2:58people and paths that reflect your love in Jesus name, Amen.
- 3:05When a loved one's marriage is under strain, you may not know
- 3:08what to say, but you can still know how to pray.
- 3:12The Marriage Intercessor series gives tender, faith filled
- 3:15language for standing before God when misunderstanding, distance,
- 3:19conflict, and wounded hearts threaten a covenant.
- 3:23These prayer scripts help you intercede with mercy, wisdom and
- 3:26hope, asking God to soften what is hardened, heal what has been
- 3:30bruised, and restore peace where tension has taken root.

- 3:38reconciliation and renewed strength, this series is for

- 4:00Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 4:03Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 17 Verses 17 to
- 4:0818 World English Bible A friend loves at all times, and a
- 4:13brother is born for adversity. A man void of understanding
- 4:17strikes hands and becomes collateral in the presence of
- 4:20his neighbor. Psalm Chapter 67 World English
- 4:24Bible May God be merciful to us, bless us, and cause his face to
- 4:29shine on us. That your way may be known on
- 4:32earth, and your salvation among all nations.
- 4:35Let the peoples praise you. God, let all the peoples praise
- 4:39you. Oh, let the nations be glad and
- 4:41sing for joy, for you will judge the peoples with equity, and
- 4:44govern the nations on earth. Let the peoples praise you.
- 4:47God, let all the peoples praise you.
- 4:51The earth has yielded its increase.
- 4:53God, even our own God will bless us.
- 4:55God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall
- 4:58fear him. First Samuel Chapter 12 World
- 5:02English Bible Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have listened
- 5:07to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king
- 5:09over you. Now behold, the king walks
- 5:12before you. I am old and Gray headed.
- 5:16Behold, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my
- 5:19youth to this day. Here I am witness against me
- 5:22before Yahweh and before his anointed.
- 5:25Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken?
- 5:29Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed?
- 5:32Of whose hand have I taken a bribe to make me blind my eyes?
- 5:36I will restore it to you. They said You have not defrauded
- 5:39us nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything from
- 5:42anyone's hand. He said to them, Yahweh is
- 5:45witness against you and his anointed is witness today that
- 5:49you have not found anything in my hand.
- 5:51They said he is witness. Samuel said to the people, It is
- 5:56Yahweh who appointed Moses and Aaron, and that brought your
- 5:59father's up out of the land of Egypt.
- 6:02Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before
- 6:06Yahweh concerning all the righteous acts of Yahweh which
- 6:09He did to you and to your father's.
- 6:12When Jacob had come into Egypt and your father's cried to
- 6:15Yahweh, then Yahweh sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your
- 6:19father's out of Egypt and made them to dwell in this place.
- 6:23But they forgot Yahweh, their God, and he sold them into the
- 6:26hand of Sysra, captain of the army of hazer, and into the hand
- 6:30of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and
- 6:35they fought against them. They cried to Yahweh and said,
- 6:39We have sinned because we have forsaken Yahweh and have served
- 6:42the Bales and the Ashtaroth, but now deliver us out of the hand
- 6:46of our enemies and we will serve you.
- 6:49Yahweh sent Jarabal, Badan, Jeff, Taw, and Samuel and
- 6:53delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and
- 6:56you lived in safety. When you saw that Nahash the
- 7:00king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to
- 7:03me, No, but a king shall reign over us when Yahweh your God was
- 7:07your king. Now therefore see the King whom
- 7:10you have chosen and whom you have asked for Behold, Yahweh
- 7:14has set a king over you. If you will fear Yahweh and
- 7:18serve Him and listen to His voice and not rebel against the
- 7:22commandment of Yahweh, then both you and also the King who reigns
- 7:25over you are followers of Yahweh your God.
- 7:29But if you will not listen to Yahweh's voice, but rebel
- 7:32against the commandment of Yahweh, then Yahweh's hand will
- 7:35be against you as it was against your Father's.
- 7:38Now therefore, stand still and see this great thing which
- 7:41Yahweh will do before your eyes. Isn't it wheat harvest?
- 7:44Today I will call to Yahweh that he may send Thunder and rain,
- 7:49and you will know and see that your wickedness is great, which
- 7:52you have done in Yahweh's sight in asking for a king.
- 7:57So Samuel called to Yahweh, and Yahweh sent Thunder and rain
- 8:00that day. Then all the people greatly
- 8:03feared Yahweh and Samuel. All the people said to Samuel,
- 8:07Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God, that we not die, for
- 8:11we have added to all our sins this evil to ask for a king.
- 8:15Samuel said to the people, don't be afraid, you have indeed done
- 8:20all this evil, yet don't turn away from following Yahweh, but
- 8:24serve Yahweh with all your heart.
- 8:26Don't turn away to go after vain things which can't profit or
- 8:29deliver, for they are vain. For Yahweh will not forsake His
- 8:34people for His great name's sake, because it has pleased
- 8:37Yahweh to make you a people for Himself.
- 8:40Moreover, As for me, far be it from me that I should sin
- 8:43against Yahweh in ceasing to pray for you, but I will
- 8:46instruct you in the good and the right way.
- 8:49Only fear Yahweh and serve Him in truth with all your heart.
- 8:53For consider what great things He has done for you.
- 8:56But if you keep doing evil, you will be consumed, both you and
- 8:59your King. Thanks.
