- 0:22SPEAKER_00: The more books somebody writes, the more obvious their one true message is.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Well, what's the one true message, you might ask?
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Well, the one true message is the singular theme that dominates most of a writer's content.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Here are some examples.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: The adventure author John Krakow writes about human drama in life or death outdoor situations such as hiking or mountain climbing.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: That's his one true message.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: The novelist J.K.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Rowling writes about what it means to be a hero in the context of a fantasy world.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: The novelist Stephen King writes about the dark side of humanity in the context of horror stories.

- 1:04SPEAKER_00: The historian David McCullough writes about the humanity behind American historical figures.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: In essence, it's many books, one message.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Now you might say, what about the books that aren't tied into an author's central message?
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Well, the vast majority of the time, those books are somehow tied into the main message as well.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: What's your one true message?
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: If you can't articulate it just yet, that's okay because it takes time and it takes a lot of writing before you figure it out.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Your message gets more clear and more authentic the more you write.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: So get started on that next project.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: The pathway will become clearer as you continue to press ahead.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.

- 2:02SPEAKER_00: A writing prompt is a sentence or two that helps you break through creative blocks, brainstorm new ideas, and get back into a state of flow.
