Latest / OneLegUpAlex Media / Terminello's Take on Ostomy Awareness Day and League Division Series Opening Day 10-3-26
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:07Speaker 2: All right, well, before we get to Lou Terminello, this
- 0:10Speaker 2: is probably my second podcast and last podcast of the day.
- 0:14Speaker 2: So I want to give a shout out to Ostomy
- 0:16Speaker 2: Awareness Day. Lou, as you know, and you know me
- 0:18Speaker 2: for a while, I've had an ostomy since I was
- 0:21Speaker 2: at birth. And I'll tell you, that decision the doctors made,
- 0:25Speaker 2: a little tiny me to do that and put that
- 0:29Speaker 2: device on me, 35 years ago changed my life.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I am here today because of it. And, uh, I'm
- 0:35Speaker 3: so thankful to have on.
- 0:36Speaker 2: And sometimes it can get a little weird, but Hey,
- 0:40Speaker 2: it keeps me here.
- 0:41Speaker 3: And that's what matters most.
- 0:42Speaker 2: And it keeps 1 million Americans here every day. And
- 0:46Speaker 2: I would say ostomy, uh, those with an ostomy are
- 0:49Speaker 2: working to smash stigmas every day, stay included in everyday life.
- 0:53Speaker 2: And the best resource is ostomy association of America. I've been, uh,
- 0:59Speaker 2: representative of them in Washington, D.C. last year already. I
- 1:03Speaker 2: can't believe I'm flying. But, Louie, it is ASTME Awareness Day,
- 1:06Speaker 2: so I want to give a shout-out to all those
- 1:09Speaker 2: who have one.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Alex, thank you for having me, as always. Yes, and
- 1:14Speaker 1: I'm glad that you brought the attention to today being
- 1:18Speaker 1: ASTME Awareness Day. Alex, just briefly, briefly, and... God bless
- 1:25Speaker 1: that you got one 35 years ago so we can
- 1:27Speaker 1: enjoy your incredible journey and your incredible creative mind. And
- 1:35Speaker 1: first of all, everybody should like and follow Alex. He's
- 1:43Speaker 1: such a versatile podcast of sports, history, politics, religion. He
- 1:49Speaker 1: can do it all. But Alex, you might want to
- 1:51Speaker 1: just briefly touch on, for a lot of people who
- 1:54Speaker 1: don't know, what is an ostomy?
- 1:57Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So an ostomy is a way to use the bathroom.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And so do number two. And so for many, some
- 2:07Speaker 2: of the day is just taking that time to clean
- 2:10Speaker 2: the area, to clean the stoma. For me, they use
- 2:13Speaker 2: part of my colon to make it a stoma. So
- 2:16Speaker 2: I can easily use the bathroom. I mean, I don't
- 2:17Speaker 2: know if it's too much information, but there's life. And
- 2:20Speaker 2: before we jumped on, I said, okay, I'm going to
- 2:22Speaker 2: refresh myself.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I'm home all day.
- 2:24Speaker 2: But I figured, why not just freshen up? And I figure,
- 2:27Speaker 2: and I feel like to not get discouraged about the
- 2:34Speaker 2: ostomy and to continue to clean it is the best
- 2:36Speaker 2: way to go about life because it gives us dignity.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It gives us, you know, a sense of like going
- 2:43Speaker 2: out and starting the day. And I used to be like, okay,
- 2:45Speaker 2: I'll Maybe I'll change it a day or two. But
- 2:47Speaker 2: then I start doing it every day and I feel
- 2:48Speaker 2: like there's a sense of confidence when I change it
- 2:51Speaker 2: every day, I have to say.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Well, again, and the only reason, obviously a lot of
- 2:57Speaker 1: people don't realize some of the maladies that so many
- 3:01Speaker 1: people in this world and so many Americans have and
- 3:04Speaker 1: to bring it, bring it to light, I think is important.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And you have some, you have overcome so many obstacles
- 3:11Speaker 1: that really shows what the human spirit is all about.
- 3:15Speaker 1: And that's, that's a, that's a credit to you. So
- 3:18Speaker 1: God bless you.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And, you know, we had, There are many reasons to
- 3:24Speaker 3: do it.
- 3:24Speaker 2: My condition is bothered, but others have ulcerative colitis, like
- 3:28Speaker 2: actually former NFLer, Rolf Banerski, a former place kicker for
- 3:32Speaker 2: the Chargers, who returned to football after undergoing the surgery
- 3:36Speaker 2: and getting an ostomy. I don't know if you know
- 3:37Speaker 2: about that. And then you have those with Crohn's disease.
- 3:42Speaker 2: That's really the big one. Those with Crohn's are typically,
- 3:47Speaker 2: they are, I don't want to say front of the line,
- 3:49Speaker 2: but they go right in our priority to get an ostomy.
- 3:51Speaker 2: So it's, it's a wide reasoning why people get one.
- 3:55Speaker 2: The United Ostomy Association of America. Thank God for Janine Gleba,
- 3:58Speaker 2: who was the, uh, advocate manager on behalf of all
- 4:02Speaker 2: of us. So she, she's great. I've talked to her
- 4:04Speaker 2: before and, uh, it's just nice to know there's a
- 4:07Speaker 2: resource out there. And of course my buddy, Danny, who
- 4:09Speaker 2: passed away this year in March, he had one and
- 4:11Speaker 2: he told his story about it.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Um, this, you know, last year.
- 4:15Speaker 1: With me, the modern advancements in medicine are just incredible. And, uh,
- 4:23Speaker 1: And they.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Were going to play in 1991. I mean, that's really
- 4:26Speaker 2: a blessing in and of itself. All right, Louie, let's
- 4:29Speaker 2: get to the topic at hand. I'm actually wearing Mariano
- 4:32Speaker 2: to start out October baseball. First of all, I kind
- 4:35Speaker 2: of like the Red Sox and Astros did not make
- 4:38Speaker 2: it to October baseball.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I mean, it started in September. Okay, postseason started in September.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Now we're into the real thing. Now it starts.
- 4:45Speaker 2: And I guess people are debating whether Judger should have
- 4:49Speaker 2: made the roster or not.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Lou?
- 4:51Speaker 3: They look just fine without him. Isn't that crazy to say?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Well, again, who has been telling you since mid-season that
- 5:00Speaker 1: the Yankees could get to the World Series without Judge?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Who said that the Yankees pitching, I think, is the
- 5:06Speaker 1: best and deepest in Major League Baseball? I did. And
- 5:13Speaker 1: I really, I think, let's face it, the winner of
- 5:15Speaker 1: Tampa and the Yankees is going to, barring a major upset,
- 5:20Speaker 1: which I don't think is going to happen, against either
- 5:23Speaker 1: the White Sox or the Indians. And this is for
- 5:27Speaker 1: the World Series, this Tampa Yankee playoff series. And I
- 5:32Speaker 1: believe tonight, Alex, is a key game. I believe game
- 5:36Speaker 1: one is a key game, especially for Tampa. I think
- 5:40Speaker 1: if Tampa plays from behind, they might tense up a
- 5:43Speaker 1: little bit.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I don't think the Yankees are going to have what
- 5:45Speaker 2: happened last year, and I'll never forget this. Bases loaded
- 5:48Speaker 2: versus Toronto, they only score one run.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Out of that.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I don't think that's going to happen this year.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And it's going to be a very interesting series. I
- 5:57Speaker 1: know the Yankees are favored, even though they finished second
- 6:00Speaker 1: to Tampa Bay. The Yankees are favored in Vegas, and
- 6:04Speaker 1: that's natural. That doesn't surprise me. I'm going to say
- 6:09Speaker 1: it's a toss-up series. The lineup for Tampa is underrated.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That's for sure from top to bottom. So it's a
- 6:18Speaker 1: good series. But the rest of the American League, you
- 6:21Speaker 1: were just referencing the Astros and the Red Sox. Alex,
- 6:27Speaker 1: the Houston Astros are so terrible. They would have finished
- 6:32Speaker 1: last in the NL Central or the NL East. That's
- 6:36Speaker 1: how bad they were this year. And that's how bad
- 6:38Speaker 1: the American League West was. You take that 32-5 stretch,
- 6:46Speaker 1: and that's about 20% of the season, 20-25% of the season.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You take that 32-5 stretch out, Alex, they were 55-70.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And their lineup is very, very weak. Their pitching is good.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So really, the Yankees and Tampa, these are the two.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Standard bearers for the American League in 2026. These are
- 7:14Speaker 1: the two best teams. They shouldn't be playing each other
- 7:16Speaker 1: in this round. They should have receded. Tampa should be
- 7:19Speaker 1: playing the White Sox. The Yankees should be playing Cleveland.
- 7:22Speaker 1: But I digress.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's kind of weird. I'll tell you, they
- 7:29Speaker 2: have only met once before. And the 2021 with the
- 7:33Speaker 2: COVID year was sort of a wash, although they ended
- 7:35Speaker 2: up beating the Yankees going to the World Series and
- 7:37Speaker 2: losing to the Dodgers. But, you know, that series, the
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yanks did not look well at all. They had judged
- 7:43Speaker 2: and have it.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I don't know this.
- 7:47Speaker 2: They scored 18 runs, nine runs back-to-back days for a
- 7:52Speaker 2: team that barely scored five and one almost every night.
- 7:55Speaker 3: It felt like that was impressive.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah, And I believe home field does play an advantage
- 8:03Speaker 1: in these two, in this wildcard round. Let's jump to
- 8:06Speaker 1: the Padres and the Cubs.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Well, on that note, I do believe in that.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Like I said, I believe tonight is a key game.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I really believe it. If you really want to know
- 8:18Speaker 1: the truth, I think Tampa has to go back to
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yankee Stadium up to nothing. Now, if it's 1-1, do
- 8:24Speaker 1: I think Tampa couldn't win? Yet. And again, it's three
- 8:27Speaker 1: out of five. I wish Major League Baseball would make
- 8:29Speaker 1: this round four out of seven. But again, whatever. The
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yankees are in great shape. And Tampa must be saying,
- 8:38Speaker 1: we're in great shape. So this is the American League
- 8:41Speaker 1: series of the year, this three out of five. Because
- 8:44Speaker 1: whoever wins this is going to be heavily favored in
- 8:46Speaker 1: the championship series. But only two of the nine wildcard
- 8:53Speaker 1: games that were played were riveting. The first two were
- 8:57Speaker 1: Braves-Phillies games. The other ones were blase or blowouts.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I went there when they were four and a half
- 9:06Speaker 2: up in the wildcard, looking like they were in a
- 9:09Speaker 2: home field this past week.
- 9:12Speaker 3: And they just faltered. The pitching is not there. And
- 9:15Speaker 3: they made moves to bolster the pitching. That's the crazy part.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Well, Alex, what you just said is the reason I
- 9:21Speaker 1: believe that they lost the first round, the wildcard round
- 9:25Speaker 1: to San Diego. I believe if that was at Wrigley Field,
- 9:29Speaker 1: the Cubs would have obviously had a better chance to
- 9:33Speaker 1: have won that series. And I think they would have
- 9:35Speaker 1: probably won that series. They look so out of sorts
- 9:38Speaker 1: in San Diego. And by the way, props to the
- 9:41Speaker 1: San Diego Padres fans who had this long sellout streak
- 9:46Speaker 1: at Petco Park. Those people into it from the first
- 9:50Speaker 1: pitch right to the last pitch. Both nights, Alex, the
- 9:55Speaker 1: Padres have a good lineup.
- 9:57Speaker 2: They're a team that knows they can win. They should
- 10:02Speaker 2: have beaten the Dodgers one of those years that the
- 10:04Speaker 2: Dodgers were on the run. You know, I always thought
- 10:06Speaker 2: the Padres were one wildcard round, but here they are.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And I think if it's Padres, Dodgers, or I don't
- 10:14Speaker 2: know if the Brewers, but maybe Padres, Dodgers.
- 10:16Speaker 3: There could be a different outcome this year. I don't
- 10:17Speaker 3: know yet. We'll see.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Let me ask you, Louie, the opener for the Braves
- 10:25Speaker 2: to start this NLDS, what are we doing here?
- 10:28Speaker 3: I don't understand that.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Well, again, you know, it's something we've talked about over
- 10:35Speaker 1: and over, over the years, how pitching has changed. Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I don't get it. And I don't know why the Braves,
- 10:44Speaker 1: up 6-2, put Sale in to pitch the last inning
- 10:48Speaker 1: in the 3rd. on Thursday night. I mean, they had Iglesias.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I know they wanted lefty-lefty, with Sale being a lefty
- 10:57Speaker 1: against the power of the Phils. But that was a
- 11:01Speaker 1: head-scratcher to me. I would not have done that. All right.
- 11:04Speaker 2: And then, of course, you know, on the other side
- 11:06Speaker 2: of that diamond, the Phillies came into this only scoring
- 11:11Speaker 2: a couple runs a game at the end of the season.
- 11:14Speaker 3: They just had that outburst on Sunday to make it.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Why did they stop hitting? Is this a Mattingly issue?
- 11:20Speaker 3: What happened?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Well, it's not a Mattingly issue. Let's be realistic. The
- 11:28Speaker 1: Phillies have one of the oldest teams in baseball. And
- 11:34Speaker 1: they have good starting pitching. They have a good closer.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I don't disagree with what Mattingly did in game one
- 11:41Speaker 1: when he put Durant in there in the seventh inning.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I really don't have a problem with that. I do
- 11:48Speaker 1: have a problem with Mattingly not starting Wheeler in Game
- 11:53Speaker 1: 3 if he was going to use Wheeler at all,
- 11:54Speaker 1: which he did for three innings. Yeah, I know Wheeler
- 11:57Speaker 1: gave up a two-run home run when he came in,
- 11:59Speaker 1: but it was already 3-0. You know, Harrison, the three-run
- 12:03Speaker 1: homer off Arinola, who's probably, obviously, he's on the other
- 12:07Speaker 1: side of the hill. Alex, you know what? I'm not
- 12:14Speaker 1: sure moving forward if... What's going to happen to the Phils?
- 12:19Speaker 3: Oh, I think the core is done.
- 12:20Speaker 2: As we see them now, I think that core is done.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I think Schwarber goes somewhere.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I think Harper. I don't think they retire. I just
- 12:26Speaker 3: don't think they come back. One of them may not
- 12:27Speaker 3: come back anyway.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Well, I mean, Schwarber has four years left on his
- 12:31Speaker 1: new deal. But I'm not sure how attractive the Philly
- 12:40Speaker 1: job is to a potential manager. Does Alex Corwana come
- 12:44Speaker 1: to an old team? I don't know, and I'm not
- 12:48Speaker 1: going to sit here and say I know the Phillies'
- 12:50Speaker 1: prospect line down in the minors. I don't. So, again,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I'm not sure how attractive that job is. And again,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you know what? I don't know why they wouldn't bring
- 13:04Speaker 1: Mattingly back, but it seems to report yes.
- 13:12Speaker 2: By the way, for those in New York City, or
- 13:14Speaker 2: those who like New York sports, I think you're pretty
- 13:18Speaker 2: happy that the Phillies went down after the Eagles' terrible
- 13:21Speaker 2: game against Chicago and not even Caleb Williams. I mean,
- 13:25Speaker 2: what a stretch of three days, four days for Philly
- 13:27Speaker 2: sports right there.
- 13:31Speaker 1: It sure was a bad week. And, Alex, tomorrow with
- 13:37Speaker 1: the Rams and Eagles getting together, that bad week may
- 13:41Speaker 1: continue into next week.
- 13:41Speaker 3: And then we'll hear Sirianni on the hot seat, as
- 13:43Speaker 3: we always do every year.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Opening night at home to the Penguins. Bad week. The
- 13:53Speaker 1: city of brotherly love.
- 13:54Speaker 2: But I know today there's a 20,000 scrimmage, fan-attended scrimmage
- 13:58Speaker 2: with LeBron James and the Sixers.
- 14:00Speaker 3: So there's that happening. All right.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I want to get to... So I think the postseason
- 14:05Speaker 2: is going to be fun. I'm excited we're in October.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I'm excited the Yanks are still in it. But more so,
- 14:11Speaker 2: I'm just excited that we are finally in the thick
- 14:13Speaker 2: of this.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Brewers are obviously, you know, they're the team right now.
- 14:21Speaker 3: They're the team that we're going to look out for.
- 14:23Speaker 1: A lot of pressure on them, Alex. They got to
- 14:25Speaker 1: finally come through. I mean, they make the playoffs every year,
- 14:28Speaker 1: but something happens where they can't get over the hump.
- 14:32Speaker 1: The pressure is on the Brewers. And I think that
- 14:36Speaker 1: helps the Padres in this series. And Alex, the Padres
- 14:41Speaker 1: have an excellent baseball team. They really do.
- 14:44Speaker 3: They look better.
- 14:45Speaker 2: They look so crisp on those two games. Not only
- 14:48Speaker 2: just the homers, I guess just baseball in general. And yes,
- 14:52Speaker 2: a healthy Jackson Merrill is so key to this team.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Yes, I agree.
- 14:58Speaker 3: So we'll have to see.
- 15:00Speaker 1: All right.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I have my eye on, you know, as we're doing this,
- 15:03Speaker 2: I have my eye on Chapel Hill because I'm a
- 15:06Speaker 2: big Irish fan. And I do believe Freeman beating the
- 15:11Speaker 2: caliber coach of Belichick I don't care if it's college
- 15:15Speaker 2: level or not.
- 15:16Speaker 3: It's a big deal. Okay. He's about to beat Belichick.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Possibly they're up by seven right now, but it's kind
- 15:21Speaker 2: of a big deal that he's up by that much
- 15:22Speaker 2: against caliber coach and a Superbowl winning coach.
- 15:24Speaker 3: What do you think?
- 15:26Speaker 1: Well, there were 23 point favorites today. So North Carolina
- 15:29Speaker 1: isn't very good. It's not on the caliber of Notre Dame. Um,
- 15:34Speaker 1: The marquee game will be when they play Miami. Notre
- 15:36Speaker 1: Dame does not play a taxing schedule this year. I
- 15:39Speaker 1: think they have a great team. I think they have
- 15:42Speaker 1: a chance to win a national championship. I think Freeman's
- 15:45Speaker 1: an outstanding coach. I love Carr as quarterback. I mean,
- 15:51Speaker 1: as a Jet fan, and the Jets are obviously going
- 15:53Speaker 1: to draft a quarterback in the first round next year,
- 15:56Speaker 1: maybe two, who knows? Carr throws a nice ball. He's
- 16:01Speaker 1: Accurate with his throws. It looks like he has command
- 16:04Speaker 1: of the huddle. I like Notre Dame very much. Notre
- 16:08Speaker 1: Dame defense is good. But we've got to see him
- 16:11Speaker 1: against a big team. And so far, we really haven't
- 16:14Speaker 1: seen him against a big team.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And you know, he wears the same number as Riley
- 16:17Speaker 2: Leonard wore as an Irish 13th. I thought that was interesting.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I know. You made sure you brought that to my
- 16:25Speaker 1: attention earlier today.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, oh my God.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Because I haven't been able to watch him play by play,
- 16:31Speaker 2: but this is the first day I've.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Really gotten to see them and they look, they look
- 16:34Speaker 3: pretty good. So we'll have to see.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Uh, and then of course, hockey, Louie. Well, we get to,
- 16:42Speaker 2: I don't know what else is in the college football
- 16:43Speaker 2: to talk about. I feel like Notre Dame for me
- 16:45Speaker 2: is it. And then whatever else happened, did anything else
- 16:47Speaker 2: catch your eye in college football or what?
- 16:49Speaker 1: The Alabama Mississippi state game had a lot of intrigue
- 16:53Speaker 1: and I know what's going on now. It's 14 to seven.
- 16:56Speaker 1: The last time I looked, um, But really, this is
- 17:01Speaker 1: this is not a big week in college football as
- 17:03Speaker 1: far as matchups go. You know, USC, Washington, USC coming
- 17:08Speaker 1: off the loss last week against Washington. That's that's a struggle.
- 17:13Speaker 3: They lost again last night.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Penn State, though, they lost again last night.
- 17:20Speaker 1: That was not good. They were rushed. They gave up
- 17:24Speaker 1: 400 plus yards rushing, which is terrible. In the debut
- 17:29Speaker 1: of the new stadium for Northwestern and Ryan Field, it
- 17:32Speaker 1: looks beautiful on television. And it was a raucous crowd.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And it was really Alex in control all the way.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Can we talk about this? That's the surprising part.
- 17:46Speaker 2: NIL money gets in this beautiful stadium. It gets them
- 17:49Speaker 2: like an NFL caliber stadium. And it also gets these guys,
- 17:52Speaker 2: these cushy locker room. I'm like, didn't they, these guys
- 17:55Speaker 2: just sit on a bench in the locker room as
- 17:57Speaker 2: college kids.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Like what, what did it, what a change.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Alex, I used to sit on the wooden bench and
- 18:03Speaker 1: they might've get splinters in their butt. If they, uh,
- 18:08Speaker 1: But that was a beautiful stadium. Only holds 35,000, about 13,000
- 18:14Speaker 1: less than the old Northwestern Ryan Field. But the stadium
- 18:19Speaker 1: looked beautiful. And that was a great win in the
- 18:21Speaker 1: first stadium for them. I did not expect that. I mean,
- 18:24Speaker 1: I know Northwestern came off a good loss last week
- 18:28Speaker 1: against Indiana, hanging in there all the way against the
- 18:31Speaker 1: national champions. But that was a great night last night
- 18:35Speaker 1: for Northwestern.
- 18:38Speaker 3: And I guess Pitt won a game. I don't know.
- 18:41Speaker 2: There's a whole thing with that. But I'm more interested
- 18:43Speaker 2: in how, you know, the Gators react to being ranked
- 18:46Speaker 2: for the first time in five years. I mean, there
- 18:48Speaker 2: are some storylines coming into this week. You know, and
- 18:52Speaker 2: of course, Texas, the pressure is going to keep building
- 18:55Speaker 2: on Arch Manning if they keep winning.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I mean, this is what's going to happen to them.
- 18:59Speaker 1: The pressure is going to keep building on Texas as
- 19:02Speaker 1: a team. It's got on not only Arch Manning and
- 19:05Speaker 1: Steve Starks, the head coach, But let me tell you
- 19:07Speaker 1: one thing, Alex. I watched the game last week against Tennessee,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and I wish Sarkisian would kind of teach his players
- 19:16Speaker 1: a little sportsmanship. I mean, you saw what happened on
- 19:19Speaker 1: the field. That was just ridiculous. I mean, just terrible. But,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you know, just vulgar and sportsmanlike. But I don't even
- 19:31Speaker 1: want to give it any more.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Well, you know, I guess, and I heard this spilling
- 19:37Speaker 2: in on the Joe Piscopo show from Stephen Parr, the
- 19:41Speaker 2: Protect College Sports Act passed in Congress this week. Of
- 19:46Speaker 2: all the things that that's a priority, it's interesting that
- 19:48Speaker 2: that was on the Congress agenda.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Docket to get through before whatever vacation they take next.
- 19:53Speaker 1: You're right. You are so correct, Alex. That became a
- 19:57Speaker 1: priority to get through before anything else. Very true.
- 20:02Speaker 3: But you know what?
- 20:03Speaker 2: It's probably needed because it's NIL stuff. And I think
- 20:08Speaker 2: You know, it doesn't trickle into baseball yet because up
- 20:11Speaker 2: here we don't feel as effective. Like a kid transferring
- 20:13Speaker 2: for better money down south, I guess that could start happening.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Well, in it, CC Baseball, South East Conference Baseball, yeah,
- 20:23Speaker 1: they're throwing money at the guys.
- 20:26Speaker 2: But I mean, in the football world, in the basketball world,
- 20:29Speaker 2: I don't think, and we talked about this before, I
- 20:31Speaker 2: don't think Patino and Freeman are going to want to
- 20:34Speaker 2: be here much longer if it keeps getting so insane
- 20:37Speaker 2: the way these guys are. They're not college athletes, as
- 20:40Speaker 2: we keep saying. They dictate how the game's played now.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Alex, Patino might because he's in his 70s. Freeman may not.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I mean, Freeman's young. When somebody starts inquiring from the
- 20:58Speaker 1: NFL about him, he might say, wow.
- 21:03Speaker 2: The one question I did see is that the rule
- 21:05Speaker 2: would state you cannot leave your team as coach, to
- 21:09Speaker 2: join another team. And the Irish were, I don't want
- 21:12Speaker 2: to say a victim of that, but Brian Kelly leaving
- 21:14Speaker 2: before their bowl game will never sit well with me.
- 21:19Speaker 1: But remember, when Notre Dame got him, he left an
- 21:22Speaker 1: undefeated number three in the country Cincinnati team. He didn't
- 21:27Speaker 1: even coach the Orange Bowl game against Florida and Tim Tebow.
- 21:30Speaker 1: So he's two for two on doing that.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And of course, Lane Kiffin and his whole deal and.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, Ole Miss had a big
- 21:40Speaker 2: loss last week. I'm not too concerned with them because
- 21:42Speaker 2: they still look like a good team even without Link
- 21:44Speaker 2: as their coach.
- 21:46Speaker 1: The Southeast Conference, I mean, it's so tough. It's the
- 21:51Speaker 1: toughest conference in minor league football as we are now
- 21:54Speaker 1: designating college football.
- 21:56Speaker 3: AAA football.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so Southeast Conference is the best conference of football
- 22:03Speaker 1: so far this year and probably will be throughout the season.
- 22:08Speaker 1: The Big Ten took a little bit of a step back,
- 22:10Speaker 1: but they're still very tough.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Alabama doesn't make headlines because they don't have Nick Saban.
- 22:14Speaker 2: That's really the reason why. They're not in the headlines
- 22:17Speaker 2: every week because.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Of that, but.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Nick Saban did all those commercials. He's on college game day.
- 22:26Speaker 1: He's big time.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Can we talk about that? Did you hear the story?
- 22:29Speaker 3: I didn't know this. I read this this week.
- 22:32Speaker 2: They laid off Carl Ravitch and others at ESPN to
- 22:36Speaker 2: make Pat McAfee their star. Conor Sterling gave him $ 60 million.
- 22:40Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. Carl Ravitch should still be on the air
- 22:43Speaker 3: in 2017.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Alex, I don't disagree with you, but Corso was 89
- 22:50Speaker 1: years old. He was the key figure on game day
- 22:55Speaker 1: as far as getting people's attention. So they're using McAfee,
- 23:01Speaker 1: who's a little loony.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I mean, that's how they're doing it.
- 23:06Speaker 2: They're investing in the show as well, beyond just his
- 23:08Speaker 2: appearances on college game day.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I mean, he is now the last, he, he doesn't
- 23:13Speaker 1: put a helmet, you know, the mascot helmet on like
- 23:17Speaker 1: Corso did at the end. But like today I was watching,
- 23:20Speaker 1: he rips his shirt off and he's, you know, he
- 23:22Speaker 1: spells out Ohio because they were, they were in, they
- 23:26Speaker 1: were in Ames, Iowa for the, for the Iowa, Ohio
- 23:29Speaker 1: state game. And, you know, he's now, he is now
- 23:33Speaker 1: the new Corso on college game day.
- 23:35Speaker 3: By the way, people are not really paying enough attention
- 23:38Speaker 3: to that. That's a big game because, Ohio State's been.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Struggling a little bit. Iowa just had that huge win
- 23:45Speaker 2: against Michigan. I actually could see Iowa beating Ohio State
- 23:49Speaker 2: today because of that momentum from the big house.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I could see Iowa staying tough the whole way, especially
- 23:56Speaker 1: playing at home. And Ohio State plays the toughest schedule
- 24:00Speaker 1: in the Big Ten. So every week is tough for
- 24:04Speaker 1: Ohio State, that's for sure. They have so much talent, Michael.
- 24:08Speaker 2: So Carr might be in the Heisman, but this other
- 24:09Speaker 2: guy from the Ohio State is probably the lead right
- 24:12Speaker 2: now because he just broke the receiving record in Ohio State.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So he's in the lead for all that.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Jeremiah Smith is going to be the first wide receiver
- 24:22Speaker 1: picked in the draft next year. He might get pushed
- 24:26Speaker 1: down a bit because there can be so many quarterbacks
- 24:29Speaker 1: in the draft, and everybody needs a quarterback. Alex, in
- 24:32Speaker 1: the NFL last year.
- 24:33Speaker 5: 64% quarterbacks start at least one NFL game, 64 different quarterbacks.
- 24:41Speaker 5: So you got to have, you really got to have
- 24:44Speaker 5: depth at the quarterback position, quality depth. And we've seen
- 24:48Speaker 5: it already this year in the NFL with the lack
- 24:52Speaker 5: of quality depth.
- 24:53Speaker 3: But I know it's funny. NFL is not even on
- 24:56Speaker 3: my mind at the moment, but now that we're here.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Let's quickly talk about before we get into the disasters
- 25:02Speaker 2: of injuries. we talk about the guys that are thriving
- 25:06Speaker 2: in the NFL. Finally, we were on this podcast a
- 25:09Speaker 2: couple of years ago, lauding Michael Pennix Jr. And here
- 25:13Speaker 2: he is, here he is doing his thing finally in Atlanta.
- 25:19Speaker 2: And on the other side of that, we also, I
- 25:22Speaker 2: also was, I guess it was a gushing over JJ McCarthy.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Now he's a giant. I mean, it's amazing where we've
- 25:28Speaker 2: come three years later.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. And, you know, we've talked about it
- 25:34Speaker 1: both on the podcast and even off air. You know,
- 25:38Speaker 1: the Vikings obviously made a mistake in letting Darnold go
- 25:43Speaker 1: and keeping in McCarthy. The Giants might as well take
- 25:47Speaker 1: a chance on McCarthy. I don't know how good he is.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Maybe he can resurrect his career, which is only in
- 25:54Speaker 1: his third year. Uh, again, I, I'm surprised that Jameis
- 26:00Speaker 1: Winston in his two appearances has been so ineffective. I'm
- 26:04Speaker 1: surprised that he hasn't thrown the ball well. Um, and
- 26:08Speaker 1: the weather.
- 26:09Speaker 3: So I think this week you're going to see him
- 26:10Speaker 3: throw the ball more. I have a feeling.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think he'll, I think he'll, he'll, he'll
- 26:14Speaker 1: be more effective. Alex, the giants came with an eyelash
- 26:18Speaker 1: of losing that game. Hmm. But as you say, and
- 26:23Speaker 1: it's true, a win is a win is a win.
- 26:25Speaker 1: There are no bad wins, as Coach John Calipari once
- 26:30Speaker 1: said to me when he was coaching the Nets. There's
- 26:32Speaker 1: no such thing as a bad win.
- 26:34Speaker 3: And by the way, you can knock GM Joe Shane
- 26:37Speaker 3: all you want. That's a debit.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Holland was his guy. I mean, he got him off
- 26:40Speaker 2: free agency in 25. So he's finally coming in.
- 26:46Speaker 1: That's a player of the month.
- 26:48Speaker 3: That was a must. must win, even though it was 12-7.
- 26:51Speaker 2: And I'm actually very encouraged the Jets are playing competitively,
- 26:55Speaker 2: I have to say.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I mean, they're playing competitively against teams that have more
- 26:59Speaker 1: talent than them. But you got to win games. And,
- 27:05Speaker 1: you know, like somebody said, oh, well, the Jets actually
- 27:06Speaker 1: played better than the Giants, but lost. Well, you still
- 27:09Speaker 1: got to win. And that, you know, the opponent that's
- 27:14Speaker 1: on the field is the opponent that's on the field.
- 27:16Speaker 2: And they haven't.
- 27:19Speaker 1: And in Chicago, they're going to be underdog. Tyson Pageant
- 27:25Speaker 1: is going to start them, not Case Keenum, which I'm surprised,
- 27:29Speaker 1: according to a report about an hour ago. Case Keenum
- 27:33Speaker 1: hadn't played an NFL game in over a thousand days.
- 27:37Speaker 1: He looked like he had played... a thousand straight days.
- 27:42Speaker 1: He was that good. And the Bears really kicked the
- 27:46Speaker 1: Eagles butts last week. The Eagles aren't as good as
- 27:49Speaker 1: they used to be. I still think they have a
- 27:51Speaker 1: good roster. I think they have the best roster in
- 27:54Speaker 1: the division. But there's something missing, Alex. And I don't
- 27:58Speaker 1: know if it's in the locker room. I don't know.
- 28:01Speaker 1: It's very, very strange.
- 28:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I want to talk about the two strangest NFL happenings
- 28:06Speaker 2: because we all know the Bills are going to start
- 28:08Speaker 2: out pretty well. So, Them coming back against the Chargers
- 28:12Speaker 2: was not surprising. But the two surprises are after being
- 28:17Speaker 2: disastrous were they going to tank for the first pick
- 28:20Speaker 2: or not for Fernando Mendoza.
- 28:26Speaker 3: The Vegas Raiders.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Are 3-0 with Kirk Cousins and staying in the AFC
- 28:33Speaker 2: the Browns got their third win and they lead the
- 28:36Speaker 2: AFC North in a Division that has Rodgers and Burrow
- 28:40Speaker 2: and Lamar Jackson. Come on, that's not the only surprise
- 28:44Speaker 2: to you. That's the only surprise to me.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Alex, on the positive side, you are correct. I'd say
- 28:50Speaker 1: those are the two surprises. The Browns the other night,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I know Pittsburgh scored 24 on them, but their defense
- 28:59Speaker 1: is pretty good.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And that.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Watson, wow. Talk about a guy resurrecting himself from the
- 29:08Speaker 1: depths of all kinds of issues. Deshaun Watson did a
- 29:12Speaker 1: nice job the other night. And they got 10 days off,
- 29:16Speaker 1: and then they play the Jets in the Meadowlands. That's
- 29:18Speaker 1: another winnable game for the Browns. And the Los Angeles Raiders?
- 29:23Speaker 1: The Los Angeles Raiders, in that tough division. Las Vegas Raiders.
- 29:27Speaker 3: That's hilarious. Las Vegas Raiders.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yes, that Las Vegas Raiders. in that tough division, have
- 29:34Speaker 1: been impressive so far. I mean.
- 29:36Speaker 2: that's the division that has Bo Nix, that has Mahomes,
- 29:39Speaker 2: who seems bad.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Talk about a resurrection, a guy who that, you know,
- 29:42Speaker 3: we didn't know what would happen this year.
- 29:43Speaker 2: He seems like he's got that team back to where
- 29:46Speaker 2: they normally are.
- 29:48Speaker 3: So we'll have to see, Louie.
- 29:50Speaker 1: On the negative side, the Houston Texans being 0-3 for
- 29:53Speaker 1: the second straight year. Yes, last year they were 0-3
- 29:55Speaker 1: and then they won 10 in a row. I don't
- 29:57Speaker 1: know if that's going to happen again this year, but
- 29:59Speaker 1: that's troubling. But more troubling is the Los Angeles Chargers
- 30:04Speaker 1: being 0-3 and not good.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Yeah, the Chargers one is more surprising because of Herbert Harbaugh.
- 30:13Speaker 3: So we'll see what happens there. Other thoughts that crossed
- 30:18Speaker 3: my mind. So there was that.
- 30:21Speaker 2: And then, of course, in the NHL, in three games
- 30:26Speaker 2: from the two I've really seen, the Rangers seem to
- 30:29Speaker 2: be dropping the glove a hell of a lot early
- 30:31Speaker 2: on here. And they look pretty aggressive, not just with that,
- 30:34Speaker 2: but they're peppering the goalie like with shots early on.
- 30:38Speaker 2: It's a totally new look team from what I saw
- 30:40Speaker 2: last couple of years here.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Well, one of the things that, a couple of the
- 30:44Speaker 1: things in the first three, The Rangers have played the
- 30:49Speaker 1: most games in the league. They played three games in
- 30:51Speaker 1: four nights to start the season. Played five in the
- 30:54Speaker 1: first eight days, which is really tough scheduling coming out
- 30:58Speaker 1: of the gate. The Rangers' power play is good again,
- 31:01Speaker 1: and I think it will be good the whole season.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Adam Fox in the first couple of games looks like
- 31:07Speaker 1: he's finally waking up and playing close to what he
- 31:10Speaker 1: used to be. But again, it's only three games. But
- 31:14Speaker 1: look at last night in Detroit. Dylan Garland. They put
- 31:20Speaker 1: him on waivers. They put him on waivers. They cut
- 31:24Speaker 1: the kid. When I saw that, I said, there's no
- 31:27Speaker 1: way that he gets through waivers through the entire league.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Because so many NHL teams have goaltender question marks, whether
- 31:36Speaker 1: it's as a starter or as a backup. But he
- 31:40Speaker 1: passed through waivers. So he became range of property again.
- 31:44Speaker 1: And then Jonas Coposalo gets injured. He's going to be
- 31:47Speaker 1: out two weeks, the veteran goalie. And Garland got his
- 31:51Speaker 1: first NHL shutout last night. You can't make this up.
- 31:55Speaker 1: After the night before, Igor Shostakhin, as good a goalie
- 32:00Speaker 1: the Rangers have ever had, scores a goal into an
- 32:04Speaker 1: empty net, which.
- 32:06Speaker 3: You hear Kenny Albert's call on that? I love that call.
- 32:09Speaker 3: In fact, my phone can pick it up here.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I'm sorry, the goaltender's phone.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Right next to me is... Here's Kucherov blocked by Patterson.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Saved by Shostakovich. And then Kucherov fires wide, back out.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Of the zone.
- 32:27Speaker 4: There was so much traffic in front. That's the only
- 32:30Speaker 4: place that Kucherov could go was short side.
- 32:32Speaker 1: And he missed.
- 32:35Speaker 4: This would be the perfect opportunity for Igor if he
- 32:37Speaker 4: gains control of the puck.
- 32:38Speaker 1: 19.99 with the Rangers against the Taglers.
- 32:44Speaker 4: Shostakovich will shoot to the empty area.
- 32:56Speaker 3: I have to say.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that was quite one of those unique moments.
- 33:03Speaker 3: And that's our boy, Kenny Albert. Congrats on that call.
- 33:06Speaker 2: You know, for all the stuff he does, and he
- 33:10Speaker 2: kind of still plays under the radar in some way,
- 33:12Speaker 2: even though he's been breaking records.
- 33:14Speaker 3: For most games on a national level.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I love when it's causing a feature because you don't
- 33:18Speaker 2: see it as often, you know?
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, he did. Now it's his busy season. He
- 33:25Speaker 1: did TNT on Tuesday. He did the Ranger home opener
- 33:29Speaker 1: on MSG. He did TNT last night in Dallas. And
- 33:34Speaker 1: tomorrow he's in Houston for the Cowboys game. and the
- 33:39Speaker 1: Texans on Fox. One last thing, unless you have a
- 33:44Speaker 1: couple of other things you want to talk about.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I have another couple of things.
- 33:47Speaker 2: By the way, your guy Brendan Burke did the game
- 33:50Speaker 2: for them on TNT last night with the Rangers.
- 33:53Speaker 3: The Islanders, I guess they.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Opened the home slate tonight in the UBS, but it's
- 34:01Speaker 2: too early to say anything about the team, right?
- 34:03Speaker 3: I mean, their early impressions?
- 34:05Speaker 1: I mean... We'd be micromanaging if we were going to
- 34:09Speaker 1: try to make a solid decision on 60 Minutes of Hockey.
- 34:16Speaker 1: But I was going to say, getting back, you were
- 34:19Speaker 1: talking about Kenny and announcers. NBC's got to get rid
- 34:25Speaker 1: of bringing in these guest announcers, one from each team.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I thought, really, they were terrible. And, you know, Jason
- 34:38Speaker 1: Benetti in the Yankee, you know, he's a player was
- 34:40Speaker 1: the play by play game for Yankee Red Sox. He's
- 34:42Speaker 1: a good play by play announcer. Solid. But my God,
- 34:47Speaker 1: Lou Maroney and Girardi, horrendous. No chemistry. Get them out
- 34:53Speaker 1: of there. The only guy out of these guest announcers
- 34:57Speaker 1: that I would give thumbs up to was C.J. Natowski.
- 35:01Speaker 1: who was representing the Braves, because he's on the Braves.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I kind of remember him on the Yankees at one point, too,
- 35:06Speaker 3: if I'm not mistaken.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it was with the Yankees a little bit.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I actually think he might have pitched a couple games
- 35:12Speaker 1: for the Mets throughout his career. But he was good.
- 35:20Speaker 1: But the rest of them, no chemistry. They got to
- 35:22Speaker 1: get rid of it.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Riley had a couple big moments in 21, if I'm
- 35:28Speaker 2: not mistaken, too. So he said, He's had some good
- 35:31Speaker 2: moments for the Braves, so I wasn't surprised. But I
- 35:34Speaker 2: think that of the two NLDS, that, and I know
- 35:39Speaker 2: it's the Dodgers, but the Braves.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Look like they can compete with them a little bit.
- 35:43Speaker 3: We'll have to see how that goes.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I want to say one other thing. I know I've
- 35:48Speaker 2: had my trouble with Boone and all that. But I
- 35:51Speaker 2: don't think I've heard a bad word about Cashman. And
- 35:54Speaker 2: I stand by that. Because look what he did this year.
- 35:58Speaker 2: He brought up Lombard, even when nobody really thought he
- 36:01Speaker 2: might or whatever, but quote-unquote too early. Now he's got
- 36:05Speaker 2: these two kids, Spencer Jones and Lombard, in the starting lineup,
- 36:09Speaker 2: and they're doing something.
- 36:12Speaker 3: I mean, you can't knock the guy.
- 36:14Speaker 2: He's got somewhat of a success rate here with these
- 36:17Speaker 2: two so far. Yes.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. I will agree with you on that. Alex.
- 36:27Speaker 1: If the Yankees win everything, it's because of their pitching.
- 36:30Speaker 1: This lineup without Judge is mediocre at best.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Oh, and also bringing up Volpe when they did again
- 36:40Speaker 2: with his confidence back up and then moving him to second.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Well, I always had confidence in Volpe. I never understood
- 36:48Speaker 1: why he was just driven over the.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Raked over to Coles. I didn't get it. I never
- 36:59Speaker 1: thought he'd play another game for the Yankees when they
- 37:01Speaker 1: sent him down to Scranton. You know, I said it.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I was wrong on that. I have a feeling he's
- 37:06Speaker 1: going to be the Yankees' starting second baseman, but there
- 37:08Speaker 1: is one thing that changed the other day. Did you
- 37:11Speaker 1: see it, Alex?
- 37:13Speaker 3: Well, I saw Jazz get a nice back over the
- 37:16Speaker 3: full attack.
- 37:17Speaker 1: An off-the-field move that Volpe made. And I don't mean
- 37:20Speaker 1: another hot model girlfriend or anything like that. He signed
- 37:24Speaker 1: with Scott Boros. Oh, yes.
- 37:26Speaker 3: I did see that.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Yeah. So that changes things a little bit. You know,
- 37:34Speaker 1: so when I saw that, I said, ooh, okay. But
- 37:39Speaker 1: I've always liked Volpe. He might be a second baseman,
- 37:43Speaker 1: you know, where it's better for him defensively. But we'll see.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And getting back to Tampa Bay.
- 37:51Speaker 1: If they fail and don't win the series, that's when
- 37:54Speaker 1: you can say again, they didn't put the hammer down
- 37:57Speaker 1: and they didn't get Scruble. The Dodgers are going to
- 38:00Speaker 1: pitch Scruble tomorrow or tonight at 4 o'clock, this afternoon
- 38:05Speaker 1: at 4 o'clock, and they're going to pitch Yamamoto tomorrow.
- 38:08Speaker 1: That gives the Dodgers a big edge on anybody who
- 38:11Speaker 1: they're playing. And Tampa Bay should have bit the bullet.
- 38:16Speaker 1: This was their window of opportunity. They still might do it.
- 38:20Speaker 1: But it's going to be tougher.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Instead, they get Freddie Peralta, who actually, I guess, has
- 38:24Speaker 2: pitched better since leaving the Mets.
- 38:28Speaker 1: But for Peralta, there are different levels.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Well, absolutely.
- 38:34Speaker 1: All right.
- 38:35Speaker 2: And by the way, Notre Dame just scored to pad
- 38:37Speaker 2: their lead a little bit to 27-20.
- 38:40Speaker 3: But I digress.
- 38:41Speaker 2: You mentioned agents and all that. You heard what C.J.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Stroud did to begin the year.
- 38:49Speaker 2: They were going to give him $ 50 million, I think,
- 38:50Speaker 2: for three years. And he turned it down. And the
- 38:53Speaker 2: betting on himself looks pretty bad right now, Louis.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Well, again, his first year, he was NFL Offensive Rookie
- 39:02Speaker 1: of the Year. And he was a true MVP candidate.
- 39:06Speaker 1: He could have won both. And his play has gone
- 39:12Speaker 1: backwards since then. That's not a good move by C.J. Stroud,
- 39:16Speaker 1: especially with his team 0-3. And I know it's not
- 39:19Speaker 1: all on C.J. Stroud, but Alex, $ 50 million for three
- 39:24Speaker 1: years is still pretty good.
- 39:25Speaker 3: I mean, Drake May completely crapping again.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Jacksonville and, and the guy you broke knows about news
- 39:34Speaker 2: about on that draft night, getting his first career interception,
- 39:37Speaker 2: Travis Hunter against may.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Very interesting.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Cause you know, I thought may was going to keep
- 39:43Speaker 2: going on that rise lab from last year.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not going to be so down on Drake May.
- 39:50Speaker 1: If the Patriots want to send him to Florham Park,
- 39:52Speaker 1: New Jersey, I'd be very happy.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Imagine that.
- 39:57Speaker 2: All right, Louis, on that note, thanks again for joining
- 39:59Speaker 2: me to talk sports on Ostomy Awareness Day.
- 40:03Speaker 3: You've got to research it.
- 40:04Speaker 2: There are a few athletes that actually have worn the
- 40:06Speaker 2: ostomy through the years. I've got to do more research
- 40:08Speaker 2: on that and maybe do a whole episode on that.
- 40:10Speaker 1: You mentioned Rolf Brunerska at the beginning of the show.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Rolf Brunerska, also was the host of the game show
- 40:21Speaker 1: Wheel of Fortune when Pat Sajak, I think, announced early retirement.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Pat Sajak, I believe, left Wheel of Fortune to do
- 40:31Speaker 1: a late-night talk show, which failed, and then went back
- 40:34Speaker 1: to Wheel of Fortune. But during that interim, Rolf Banerska
- 40:39Speaker 1: was the host of Wheel of Fortune.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Oh, and on that note, one last NFL thing.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Love that the Cowboys choked up that game against the
- 40:47Speaker 2: Ravens last week with one second to go.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Should have never happened. That's on Schottenheimer. There's so many,
- 40:54Speaker 1: I mean, we can, every week we can really go
- 40:56Speaker 1: through the league and see where one coaching decision can
- 40:59Speaker 1: really What.
- 41:01Speaker 2: About Salah going for that field goal before the end
- 41:05Speaker 2: of the half, giving the Giants an opportunity to at
- 41:07Speaker 2: least put three more on the board?
- 41:08Speaker 1: That's a good point. In that driving rainstorm, Salah with
- 41:13Speaker 1: a terrible decision to try a 59-yard field goal. We
- 41:17Speaker 1: can go right down on that.
- 41:20Speaker 3: We've got to get ready for playoff baseball, though, right?
- 41:24Speaker 1: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Alright this has been a great episode and of course
